Tapping mindlessly through Instagram stories, you watched video after video pop up. The play had taken a dramatic and hectic turn midway through when Nate Jacobs stormed off and Cassie Howard interrupted the play in some desperate attempt to put a stop to it. In the end, she'd been run off by her former friends and the play had continued. At least, that's what you had gathered from all the posts.

The play hadn't been on your list of things to do, especially when your ex and her new beau would be in attendance. Despite their relationship having only recently gone public, Cassie Howard had gone from being the sweet, meek, kind-hearted girl that had made your heart flutter since grade school to a shell of her former self. Another one of Nate Jacobs victims. It'd only be a matter of time before they continued the break-up then make-up cycle.

Sighing heavily, you shut your phone off and tossed it aside in hopes of finding something else to occupy your mind. Your eyes scanned the room, lingering on forgotten homework and scattered clothes. Before you could debate which task to do first, the soft sound of something clattering against the window. You waited a moment, hearing it again and again.

Rising from the bed and approaching the window, you thrusted the curtains open and peered down, spotting the girl immediately. She waved her hands at you and smiled widely. Finally having your attention, Rue made her way toward the fence and climbed on, pausing briefly when it wobbled.

"Rue- Oh, my god." You pushed the window up and stuck your head out, watching her attempt to balance herself on the fence. "You know I can just open the door for you, right?"

"Nah, I got this!" Rue nodded to herself and stuck her arms out once she got her footing. The gap between the fence and the side of the house couldn't be considered large by any means but for someone like Rue, it'd be quite the leap.

"The door is right around the corner, Rue. I just need to go downstairs-" Before you could continue, she made the leap, hands successfully gripping onto the window ledge while her legs kicked out wildly. A string of muttered curses and huffs left your lips as you helped pull the teenager in through the window and onto your bedroom floor.

"What are you doing here, Rue?" You breathed, watching her stand and dust herself off as if she hadn't borderline forced her way into your home.

"You weren't at the play," She breathed and adjusted her flannel before brushing some curls out of her face. "I just wanted to make sure you’re okay. You know... considering..."

"Considering you knew my girlfriend was cheating on me and only exposed her for your own benefit?"

Rue winced and nodded, a soft sigh escaping her. "I'm sorry. I-I should've told you sooner... I fucked up. I fucked everything up and I know it might be a little too late but I'm hoping we can fix things. I want... I want us to be close again. You, me, and Lexi. I can't remember the last time we all hung out. I miss you."

"You're clean?" You couldn't help but ask. Her addiction had gotten in the way too many times for you to allow her back in without some suspicion.

"Yeah," She nodded, giving a weak smile. "And I'm for real gonna try to stay clean. I promise."

Dear Y/N,

Hey baby. I'm sorry that you're just getting this note from me but, I promise you will see me later tonight. I am just finishing up part of your surprise so, I thought I would write you a note.

First off I should just say, Happy Valentine's Day love. I love you so much, I really do. I honestly don't know what I would do without you in my life. I think I'd be lost without you and I don't want to know what it feels like to not have you in my life.

So, about that surprise I was telling you about earlier, I'll be picking you up tonight. I'll message you when I will be coming to get you. I will obviously let you know an hour or so ahead of time so you can get ready.

I am so excited for you to see what I have put together for you. I really hope you will love it. I get worried sometimes that you might not like it or hate it. And I know how snoopy you are so, don't start messaging me asking me what it is because, I won't tell you.

I mean it would not be much of a surprise if I told you now would it?

I also just wanted to write you this note because I wanted you to know how much I love you. I mean, I love you so much I don't even know if words could express how in love with you I am. I mean before I met you I was not in the best place but, you lifted me up.

You have always helped me. Even before we started dating you were always there for me no matter what and I will forever be grateful for that and for you. I honestly still am so shocked that you felt the same way about me as I felt about you.

I honestly thought I would get rejected. I mean, you are so gorgeous and funny and adorable and you have this big amazing personality, who wouldn't want you? Plus, I know I did have competition at the time we met too.

I'm just so glad that you wanted me and that you wanted me for me. Anyways, I'll message you the time soon so you may want to start to get ready soon.

Maddy Perez x female reader

Your relationship with Maddy was somewhat Difficult.

You are Nate Jacobs best friend he was always there to protect you he was basically your knight and shining armor you guys met in eighth grade when you had a mental breakdown in school he would always see you shake your legs anxiously he was there for you, until you were thirteen you hit puberty boys would look at you with this predatory eyes especially grown men but Nate was there and protected you he would sometimes physically hurt them, and would get a detention for you as long as you were okay which made you develop feelings for him.

Until as they entered highschool, Nate noticed that Maddy was an exact replica of Y/n they both dress the same, they both have no body hair, and they both were the best parts of being a Women, Even though Nate was not a big fan of women, Y/n was different she was strong, caring, gentle, Nate would do anything in his power to protect them both.

When Nate started dating Maddy it broke Y/n's heart, she always saw how Nate would put flowers in her locker every single day, Y/n would cry right after she'd come home from school, she wouldn't want to ruin or sabotage her best friends relationship, right? What friend would she be if she did that.

It made Nate feel good to know that he was there to protect them. He knew the world was full of men who want to hurt y/n and Maddy. Men who'd want to rape them, torture them, and sell them to sexual slavery, He didn't want to think about it, he like to think about the things he'd do to protect them.

Nate was smart but he was oblivious to Y/n stuffing her feeling and pride to be a third wheel, But Nate was focused on the fact that Maddy was a virgin that no guy put their penis in her.

Nate really love y/n with his heart, but sometimes he would imagine marrying Maddy and starting a family, he didn't want boys, But, he also didn't like the idea of having girls, plus Maddy could be a real bitch. Like at McKay's party something just flipped, people just loved to piss him off, that's the thing about y/n she wasn't bitchy, she would always comfort him when he was mad, Nate likes the way y/n cared for him.

But everything started to change when she heard that Tyler assaulted Maddy which didn't make any sense, since at that party she saw Maddy and him fucking in the pool, and the whole police asking questions to Maddy and Nate. So, Y/n decided to find more info joining Rue and Lexi's little detective case. It just hurt's how Nate lied to you in front of your face about this whole thing. what if Nate actually assaulted Maddy? Y/n, Rue, and Lexi were piecing some of this together but there was still so much missing like why did Nate have dick pics in his phone and what made him snapped at the point where he decided to choke Maddy and what's making Maddy lie and frame Tyler for something he didn't even do.

Y/n's phone rang she checked the Caller ID and it was someone who she never expected.... Maddy.

"I'm not answering it." Y/n said shaking her head

"Answer it, Answer it!" Rue and Lexi encouraged.

Y/n answered the call anyway and held her phone to her ear.

"Uh, hey Maddy." Y/n said, staring at Rue and Lexi. "Oh,... Okay, sure I'll be over." Y/n hung up the call, Rue and Lexi were both confused giving a wtf expressions.

"Maddy wants me to meet her... and I'm gonna go." Y/n said.

"Well do you need any backup or something?" Rue asked.

"No, I'll be okay." Y/b reassured grabbing her keys, phone, and her wallet. "I gotta, go." Y/n said.

As Y/n made it to Maddy's house she stepped inside Maddy's pink themed room and saw it was trashed

"I get why you're confused on why I invited you over." Maddy broke the silence, speaking first.

"I mean we haven't have the best track record." Y/n said looking around the Maddy's room. "But when you called me, you sounded kinda spooked."

"I need to talk to someone about what's been going on, I can't hold this in any longer." Maddy said bursting to tears hugging Y/n unexpectedly, "It's about Nate." Maddy said through her tears.

What the hell is going on here? Y/n thought comforting Maddy.

"I'm not going anywhere."

She believed you. She believed those four words. She held them dearly to her heart, even if deep down she knew she didn't deserve it after everything she'd said and done. You stuck by her side through her emotional outbursts, through her unpredictable and self-destructive behavior. Her addiction had sent her spiraling but you never strayed. Even when her own mother seemed to be on the brink of giving up hope, you remained.

And in the end, she'd been able to pull through with only some minor setbacks. In part thanks to you. Her beloved girlfriend of two years.

Her gaze drifted from the laptop screen, the Disney movie drifting into background noise as she gazed at you. The screen made your face light up in different colors, many of which she believed complimented you perfectly. Your eyes were squinted slightly, fully focused on the movie playing. She smiled. She loved it watching you when you were concentrated, loved trying to guess how you'd react to certain parts.

Feeling her eyes on you, you turned to look at her, a small smile appearing on your face. "What?"

"Nothin'." She dismissed with a giggle. "Just, you're really cute, you know."

"You're gonna have to do better than that. Maddy said I looked like a snack the other day." You teased lightly and she laughed, nodding to herself and dropping her head back on the pillow.

"Yeah? Alright, let's see..." She squinted at the roof, pursing her lips in thought. You watched her and giggled quietly, movie forgotten for the moment.

"Clock's ticking, Rue."

"Alright, alright, I got it. You look like a whole buffet."

You threw your head back in laughter. "That's the best you can do, babe?"

"I'd say that was pretty good!" She protested with a smile.

"Yeah, yeah." You waved your hand and looked back at her, still giggling as you leaned in to kiss her sweetly. "That was... a fantastic line, babe."

Rue Bennett is a forbidden name kept locked away in the shadows of your mind. It is a cursed name that is never to be uttered in fear of its effect on you.

And yet, that wretched name sat, flashing across your buzzing phone, enticing you with curiosity. You stared at the screen, a dilemma brewing inside you. On the one hand, you could ignore the tantalizing phone call, continue with your life as is, and leave the girl to her own devices. Or, you could succumb to the temptation and allow the siren to lure you back into her.

You shake your head as you sigh-- already knowing your choice. It was foolish of you to even entertain the idea that you would do anything other than answer the phone.

"Hello?" you call out to the silence on the other end, your voice shaking slightly in the anticipation of hearing her voice after all this time. "Yo, what's up? It's Fez," his husky voice a stark contrast to the addictive feminine one you were expecting. The warmth in your veins turns cold as your brain conjures scenarios for why Fez is on the other line and not Rue, "Is she okay?"

"Yeah, look. I'm gonna need a little help with Rue."

"Like, now?"

"Yeah. ASAP."

"Okay. I'm on my way."

The pouring rain beats against your skin as you peddle down the dark, slick roads of East Highland— your breath heaving. Your body is drenched to the bone and your muscles ache from the weight and speed of your movements, but you don't care. All that matters is the curly-haired brunette that makes you go against all your better judgment who, based on Fez's response, needs you urgently.

"Fez!" you scream out for the ginger, pounding heavily on his door. "What the hell, man? Calm down," you hear his leisurely prosody come from behind the cast iron screen protecting his home from the rest of the world.

"Where is she?"

He lets you in, pointing you towards the couch where Rue's unconscious body lies. "Oh, fuck Rue. What did you do?" you breathe out, crouching down by her side and brushing a strand of curls from her sweat-dampened skin. "You want me to get you a towel or something?" Fez inquires, taking note of your little shivers and the trail of water you produced.

"Yeah, thanks."

Maple brown eyes slowly start to peer up at you, a pool of emotions swirling inside of you. "Y/N. You're here," her soft voice announces, a smile dancing on her lips. A clammy hand reaches for your own damp ones, an act of reassurance that you're actually here with her and not a product of a drug-induced hallucination. "How long has she been like this?" you question the approaching footsteps behind you.

"Like, an hour, maybe."

"What did she take?"

"Fentanyl."

"What the fuck? You gave her fentanyl?" you turn on the tall ginger who did his best to keep her safe.

"I didn't give her shit, man. I told her ass to get out of here."

"Shh, Y/N. Don't be mad. This is a good thing. I'm so fucking happy," the brunette drawls in her euphoric state, eyes rolling to her skull. A weighted sigh escapes you as you take in her ghastly pallor, it killed you to know that this provides her with a joy you could never replicate. "Here," Fez calls, handing you a towel and one of his shirts. You smile gratefully, apologizing for your previous spat.

Towel dried hair hangs loosely around your visage— Fez's shirt dangles just below your knees. You stare into your reflection, hands desperately grasping the sink, supporting you and the weight of your emotions. You weren't sure if you had the strength to go through this with Rue. You loved her greatly, more than you should, but Rue's addiction caused her to be cruel. Her words were like knives and they cut you deeply— only just recovering from your last encounter. Continuing on this path would surely be detrimental. A rational person would leave now, while they still could— tell Fez they can't take care of her and never look back. A rational person certainly would not have come here tonight, or even answered the phone. But you are not a rational person, not when it comes to Rue.

Wiping the tears that broke free, you return to the living room where you left Rue— slipping in and out of consciousness— under the watchful eyes of Fez.

"Um, we can take her back to my place. My parents are out of town."

Blurry lights, distorted by the rain droplets on the glass windows, pass you by as Fez drives you down the wet, empty streets. The heavy rain and windshield wipers reverberate in the deafening silence as Rue sways lazily in your lap, sighs of content escaping her lips. "I can't believe you biked all the way over in this shit, man," Fez says to you, surprised by your continued commitment to her. He knew about what happened between the two of you before her overdose— how violent she had become and the awful thing she said. The moment she realized what she had done she regretted it immediately, begging Fez to take the memory away. So he gave her something that would make her forget, not realizing how much she had already taken.

"Honestly, I'm surprised you even answered the phone, but I figured it was worth a shot."

"You think I'm crazy, don't you? Doing all of this for a girl who basically said I was better off dead."

Fez shrugs his shoulders, pulling into your driveway, "I've seen people do crazier things for worse shit." The purr of the engine comes to halt, "You care a lot about Rue and she cares a lot about you. It's not crazy if you do something with it."

The soft call of your name falling from Rue's lips quickly draws your attention to the random video keeping you awake on your phone. You pad over to where the brunette lays in your bed– eyes searching for you. The sun creeps through your closed blinds illuminating abstract areas of her body. Despite having been heavily inebriated, she still looks angelic– although nothing could ever make Rue any less than beautiful in your eyes.

"How do you feel?" you ask her, brushing a clump of her matted curls out of her face. The typical red flush that adorns her face has returned, easing the anxiety you had been holding onto all night.

Glassy eyes stare back at you, burdened by the surge of emotions brewing inside of them. "I'm sorry," Rue says, voice cracking under the weight of her emotions, "For everything. For everything that I said to you, and for hurting you, and for dragging you into this. I care about you. A lot. You're one of the best things that have ever happened to me, so please don't leave me."

You embrace the curly-haired girl, stilling her shaking frame. Her head nuzzles into your neck, trembling breaths fanning your skin.

"Rue, it's okay. I'm not going anywhere. I love you– unconditionally and irrationally."

You pull back from her– hands framing her face and eyes showing nothing but sincerity. A soft smile creeps up her lips, "I love you too."
