I feel that the people making Cinder x Winter RWBY medieval aus have not considered the possibility (because I notice that in these aus she's always a sorceress) of Blacksmith Cinder

StableMaster!Yang: Come on, Ruby. You'll be fine.
Ruby: (wearing full armor and on a horse) Yang, are you out of your mind?! This is how people get killed!
Yang: Pfft! Please! This is nothing! I joust all the time!
Ruby: You're also a beast in your own right!!! YOU SHOULDN'T EVEN BE JOUSTING!!! You're not a knight!!!
Yang: Technicalities. You're literally going up against a newbie squire, Rubes. You can knock him off his horse easy.
Ruby: (ignoring Yang) When I said I wanted to be a knight, I didn't mean I wanted to joust!
Yang: Ugh! Fine! Do what you want. I have to get on my horse and get ready for my run. Good luck, sis! (smacks Crescent's flank and the horse gallops to the jousting arena)
Ruby: Whoa! Whoa! Yang! How could you?!
Yang: (trots over to where Ember is waiting patiently and adjusts her chest piece) Ready to go, big guy?
Princess!Blake: And what do you think you're doing?
Yang: I'm gonna joust.
Blake: No, you are most definitely not.
Yang: Yes, I most definitely am. I've been doing this for years, Blake. I can handle a new challenger.
Blake: Not when it's a knight that's been trying for my hand for over five years, Yang!
Yang: (pauses) ......Say again?
Blake: (looks to the side) Your opponent is Adam Taurus. He's one of the newly anointed knights in Sienna's platoon. Sienna finally ran out of excuses to not promote him. He's...very adamant about marrying me...to the point where suitors have gone missing as soon as he gets wind.
Yang: (holds Blake's hands) Blake, I'll be fine. I promise. (kisses Blake's fingers before mounting Ember) And when I get back, I have a surprise for you! (trots towards the jousting arena)
Blake: (bites her lip) Please, be safe.

Medieval AU
Ruby and Cinder are forced to love each other in secret, one of the two having a nightmare about being executed but is soon comforted by the other
the day after,Emerald and Mercury, knowing what's going on between them, tells them to be careful
(I cant exactly call this one medieval au... going to come up with a name for it though)
Cinder ran down the streets and to the large crowd that gathered in the middle of the village, stopping in her tracks as her eyes caught sight of the gallows. She held back from raising her own arm when she saw the noose being put around Ruby’s neck, not wanting to give herself away as she watched her lover look out towards the crowd.
“This knight has abandoned our Kingdom for a witch!” the executioner called out as he pushed Ruby forward. “Let her be a lesson to show why you must have loyalty to the queen!”
Cinder watched in horror as a block was pushed out from under Ruby’s feet. Her eyes started to glow as a ball of fire formed in her hands and the wind around her started to whistle and howl. “Let her go!”
The executioner turned to her with a grin as he raised his axe. “Its time to wake up, witch!”
Cinder closed her eyes as she felt someone push her, and then heard a whisper in her ear.
“Cinder? Cinder. Wake up.”
Cinder opened her eyes and found herself staring at the ceiling of her cottage, drenched in sweat and hands shaking as she gripped her sheets. She slowly looked towards Ruby and gave a quick smile as she lunged to her for a hug.
“Everything okay?” Ruby asked. “You looked like you were having a nightmare.”
Cinder nodded and pressed in close to Ruby. “A nightmare… or a premonition. Its hard to tell the difference anymore. But I’m glad you’re okay.”
“Do you want to talk about it?”
“I’d… rather not. You know talking about dreams and nightmares has power to make them come to pass. I… I dont want to risk it.”
“And you know I’ll be okay no matter what, right?”
Cinder held Ruby tightly, wishing she could truly believe those words. However, she knew that no matter how much she tried to believe them, that those words held no weight. “What about your oath? You’re a promised protector to Weiss-”
“And I’d give that up if it means being able to be with you longer.”
“I wish you wouldnt say that,” Cinder said with a sigh as she pulled away from Ruby. “You’d be throwing your life away. Can you really say you’d be happy with that?”
“Of course I can.” Ruby put a gentle hand to Cinder’s cheek and smiled. “There isnt a life worth living without you. But you should try to get some rest.”
“I’ll try.” Cinder slowly laid back down with Ruby and pressed into her, trying to calm from the nightmare she had. Even with Ruby’s arms around her, it was hard for her to fall asleep again as her mind raced with fear. She slowly closed her eyes and took a deep breath, whispering to herself as she tried to sleep once more. “As long as you’re safe on your journey.”
Morning came too quickly as she felt the rays of the sun on her skin and the absence of Ruby’s arms around her. Cinder slowly sat up and groaned as she pushed a hand through her hair and sighed when she confirmed that Ruby had left, her cloak no longer hanging above the doorway. It no longer surprised her when Ruby had to leave before the sun was up, though it still hurt that the two of them couldnt let their love be public ever since she was branded as a witch by the queen. All it took was one mistake, one mishap with the powers she had been imbued with, for Weiss to toss her aside as the court seer and brand her as a traitor to the kingdom.
There was a knock on the door, and then a whisper from a familiar voice. “Cinder? You still in there?”
Cinder sighed and made sure she was dressed before opening the door a crack. “You really think I have anywhere else to go, Emerald?”
“No, but you never know.” Emerald pushed the door open and slowly walked in. “But that’s not important. Ruby hasnt been around here, has she?”
“Why do you ask?”
“Mercury and I overheard a few guards talking about hunting down a few traitors. And… well… we’re worried about you and Ruby. We know the two of you have been working together to get your position back with the queen, but… well… you cant be too careful.”
Cinder gripped the handle to her door tightly as her hands started to heat up, steam practically leaving her nose as she let out a heavy breath. “Then we need to make sure Ruby knows-”
“Mercury is already tracking her down.” Emerald sighed and slowly closed the door. “Please dont try to warn her yourself. All that’ll do is put you in danger.”
“I know but…” Cinder sighed and let go of the half melted door handle and dug her nails into the wooden door. “I… I had a nightmare where Ruby was hanged. What if its a sign? I have to warn her-”
“And then you’ll make it come true. I know you’re worried, but you have to let her be. Please, for your own safety and hers. Even if you have to stay away from her while she’s with the queen.”
Cinder frowned, then pulled her hand away from the door and looked away from Emerald. “Let me know if anything changes. I need to know if she ends up in trouble.”

Summary:  What should have been a quick late night visit to Weiss’s apartment ends up lasting longer than expected, complete with smiles, quiet affirmations, gentle intimacy, and even a momentary glimpse of Weiss's infamous temper. But Ruby doesn't mind because she cherishes all the moments she gets to spend with Weiss, even if they can get a little bumpy at times.

Team CRDL's Weapons (Part One: Cardin Winchester)
I love weapons. It's what drew me into RWBY to begin with. In my personal life, I own a few firearms, and what I loved about early RWBY weapons is that you could mostly see how they worked. Ember Celica was fed by shotgun shell belts, Crescent Rose worked because of how the rifle would unfold, and it was fed by magazines. I love knowing how weapons work, I love when they had names that fit their "personalities", and I love seeing what niche each weapon fills.
The point of my rambling is that each member of Team CRDL has a weapon, and I'm going to talk about them. I'll mention what they have in canon, then try to mention any additions that I've included.
Starting off with Cardin, and arguably the simplest weapon of the team, his titanium mace, The Executioner. However, just because it's simple, doesn't mean it isn't cool!
The Executioner is a flanged mace, which, according to the RWBY manga, is built from titanium, and features a Fire Dust crystal in the center. There are eight flanges, two on each side, and he is apparently able to channel his Aura through it (also RWBY manga), though whether this is a skill all Hunters learn or if it's special to Executioner is unknown.
In combat, Cardin is able to wield it one handed or with both hands. (fun fact: Cardin is canonically left handed). He adopted a very powerful and agressive fighting style, willing to tank hits if it means he can close the distance. Flanged maces specialize in piercing and damaging armor, smashing them inward for maximum damage, and this means Cardin fills the role of the team's bruiser/tank. He gets in close and bashes some Grimm skulls.
The thing that makes The Executioner unique is the Fire Dust crystal inside. Cardin uses this to add a bit of explosive "oomf" to his strikes. As seen in the Pyrrha fight, Winchester was able to strike the ground and cause a line of explosions in front of him.
Side note, after doing a bunch of math that I probably messed up on, (basically, I took the size of a mace handle (38 inches long, 1.25 inches in diameter), and multiplied it by the weight of titanium (2.624 oz. per cubic inch)) I estimated that the handle of The Executioner weighs about 7.8 lbs., and the flanged head probably weighs about 1.25 lbs, making the whole thing weigh an estimated 9.05 lbs.
But please take my estimations with a huge heaping of salt. Even I'm not 100% on them. Plus, we don't know how much Dust weighs, nor what the mechanisms inside of the Executioner are made out of. It could weigh more than my guess, it could weigh less.
Anyway, when Cardin and crew get to Atlas, they will have the opportunity to upgrade their weapons. With Sky's help (in this AU, Sky is the weapon nerd of Team CRDL) the Executioner will be upgraded to be able to launch a medium range fire projectile at enemies, similar to the projectile Reinhardt from Overwatch can shoot from his hammer. (Come to think of it, both Cardin and Reinhardt fill a similar niche: heavy-hitting tanks that struggle with flying targets and long range enemies.)
Anyway, that's all for now. I'll cover Russel Thrush's weapons, the Shortwings next!

Arkos Week DAY 8 - Free Day
Ah the final day of @arkos-week-2022, firstly thanks to all you readers I really hoped you enjoyed what I wrote for the week 😁 . As for today I’ve gone for another AU setting, a more medieval world where our two soul once again meet for the first time(May do more of the verse eventually).
The Beacon’s Glory Masque, though perhaps not the grandest of court celebrations, was definitely the liveliest. It was the favor of the Protector Regent, Lord Ozpin the Unfathomable, who despite having a reputation for being distant, thoroughly enjoyed the vast swaths of color and merriment the event brought. It also provided the perfect opportunity for all of Vale’s social strata to gather tighter. Even the final part of the celebration, held within Beacon Castle itself which was often closed to only the most elite of the kingdom, found itself filled with guests invited by such individuals.
Hence why the Arcs found themselves being allowed into the castle. Once they did rank amongst those who could gain entrance to the Vale King’s keep. Their warrior ancestors helped forged the very kingdom they all now live in. Peace and abundance have reduced the need for such warrior families. Plus, the Arcs themselves have also settled for the farming life. Too much tragedy had dampened their family’s tendency to send their offspring to battle.
With such a loss they fell to relative obscurity, but their sacrifices were not to be forgotten. This is why Her Ladyship, Glynda Goodwitch the Unbowed, Supreme Magician of Vale, had extended the customary invitation to the final act of the night.
Jaune also assumed it had to do with his sister, Saffron, having recently managed to engage Lady Cotta. A minor Mistral noble that his sister had met during one of her ventures. It spoke about how Lord Ozpin had been trying to align at least parts of the Kingdom of Mistral so that Atlas, whose growing military might have worried some, would not have its old ally.
Thus, his sister’s engagement was perhaps an unexpected boon, and the Arcs' presence would help ease the Mistral delegation. Then again that could all just be speculation at this point. Greater people had tried to predict Lord Ozpin’s plans, and they have all failed to this point.
So, it was best to probably just enjoy to party, and perhaps he could see if he could again gain a recommendation to attend the capital’s knight academy. After all, even though most could guess who everyone was, it was custom to assume everyone was a mystery. It had its downsides for sure, but it allowed those in attendance to speak their thoughts without fear. Many a crisis had been adverted by the inciting individuals being able to air their issues in such a form.
Honestly, the ones he’d have to avoid would be his parents. His father would probably be the first Arc to die of old age and not of complications with wounds. A trend his mother full-heartedly agreed on starting. Which was exactly the opposite of his goal of becoming a knight of the realm. So, when the Arcs made their entrance, clad in their new cloths of yellow, with their mask simplistic depictions of the animals they now called their charges, Jaune, or Mane as his stage name was for the horse mask on his face, quickly made his way to slip into the crowd.
Sadly, as the night drew on, his quest seemed hopeless. Firstly, it turned out to be much more difficult to find those who could help him. Turns out many of the knights also preferred to dress in their civilian lives. Honestly, the only ones that stood out were Lady Goodwitch (who was friendly to his parents and posed too much of a risk) and Lord Brawen, though that was mostly due to said man’s current camping of the punch bowl at one of the tables. Which lead to his second issue, the few knights he did find often found his request hilarious. This was Vale, anyone could apply for the chance to attend the academy. Even the most helpful of the bunch a grey-clad man with a multi-eyed bird mask had asked why he didn’t simply ask his parents.
Jaune smiled ruefully at that. He didn’t need to ask his parent to gauge their reactions. He had seen it in their faces when in his youth he played knights in the fields. The looks had turned to words as he got older and his interest failed to wane. He knew his parents simply didn’t want to see him mauled on the battlefield, but over the year the steady attempts to discourage him had worn his trust in them.
So, it wasn’t surprising that after finding no help amongst the partiers Jaune decided to seclude himself on one of the private balconies outside of the hall. Here he could be out here with the stars. His ever-present companions when he needed space from his family. It was a clear night and the wind was gentle calming his racing mind.
“May I join you?” a soft voice, though their tone was far from timid. For a moment Jaune thought about saying no, but perhaps destiny had decided to smile on him.
“Sure, and you areeee,” his voice trailed as he was stuck with how beautiful the owner of the voice was. She was dressed in crimson and bronze, an outfit of silk and armor. Her mask was a decorative masterpiece of scales and feathers that formed a rainbow across her face, highlighting her bright green eyes. She giggled at his shocked expression before answering his question.
“Sir Nike, of the Kingdom of Mistral,” Nike introduced herself before asking for Jaune’s name. A moment of silence passed before Jaune realized she had asked in return, and tried to answer. Sadly, his mind was still hooked on her beauty and so his words were a jumbled mess. Nike gave him another bought of her laughter and simply pushed on to what he was doing out where.
“Ah just letting my thoughts drift,” Jaune sighed as he was brought back to his current problem.
“Oh…does it have something to do with attempting to attend Beacon’s Knight Academy?” Nike asked much to Jaune’s surprise.
“Ho—How?” he stammered; he would have remembered if he had talked to her before.
“You were rather loud with your last conversation,” Nike stated, their tone similar to when one of his sisters stated the obvious.
“Ah…well if you’re here to enjoy the story, I’m sorry to disappoint, but I will—”
“Oh, no no,” Nike cut in as she moved closer to Jaune, “I wanted to help,”
“How, no offense sir, but you’re a Mistal Knight, you don’t exactly have the authority,” Jaune pointed out, unsure just what was happening
“True, but I will be attending said academy myself, and I will need someone who is familiar with this kingdom’s ways,” Nike answered, partially confusing Jaune more.
“But you are already knighted and in Mistral your home,” he pressed, “what would you gain from attending our kingdom’s academy?”
“It is a test run,” Nike answered, her head next to Jaune’s, “my Queen has asked that a warrior of Mistral learn to see if Vale is still able to produce great warriors against the Grimm threat. So, what do you say?” Jaune had no idea what to think of this chance. Oh, sure he knows he was being used, but it’s still a chance.
“Sir Nike, I Mane of House Arc will accept your request to accompany you to the Beacon Knight Academy if you will have me,” he stated proffering a bow to his new benefactor.
“Very well Mane Scion of the Arcs,” Sir Nike replied, “I will notify the Lord Protector of this, and make sure your letter of acceptance is sent,” and with a bow, Sir Nike departed to ensure her word was kept. Deep down Pyrrha Nikos, Sir Nike’s real name was ecstatic. She would have to thank Sir Grey for pointing out Mane’s plight. She could see the determination in him and knew he would be an excellent partner to help her survive the incoming trial. She also smiled at how easy it was for the two to chat and hoped when the time came for them to truly meet, he would not change himself.
