Unpopular Phase 4 & 5 Opinions

Quantumania is the worst Phase 4/5 movie. And it wasn’t even because “kang got beat by ants.” (I liked kang in this movie). It’s just that the Spy Kids aesthetic & bad acting & overall weird vibes just weren’t for me.

Love and Thunder is no worse than Ragnarok. I would argue that it’s better in a lot of ways, actually. I really liked it.

Taika Waititi ruined thor with bad humour all the way back in Ragnarok tbh, but y’all weren’t complaining about it then 😒.

BuckySarah is better than sambucky every day of the week.

The Marvels was a good ass movie & they’re one of my favorite teams in the mcu. I’ll never forgive cbm sites & online dudebros for killing the hype from the moment the film was announced.

I adore America Chavez & Kamala Kahn and I want to see them in everything. They must be protected at all costs.

Multiverse of Madness had shitty characterisation & basically just copy-pasted the ‘grief made me go off the deep end & hurt people, then I realised and stopped myself’ storyline from Wandavision… but Wanda was extremely selfish & apathetic to other people’s suffering from the time she was introduced in the mcu. MoM didn’t make her like that.

Wanda should’ve been looking for Vision (her actual real life boyfriend whom she spent years with irl) in MoM instead of the kids that weren’t even real that she spent like a week using as characters in her sitcom.

Making everyone forget Peter Parker wasn’t profound or poetic in any way- it was just frustrating and needlessly cruel.

I’m begging marvel to understand that heroes don’t have to be in constant suffering to be heroic & villains don’t have to sacrifice themselves to achieve redemption. Let characters heal and atone, you absolute weirdos.

What If…? is the most boring show ever. I’d rather watch Secret Invasion or She-Hulk.

Season 2 of Loki is, in a cinematic & artistic sense, the best marvel project period.

Loki season 1 was meh- more of a fun au than anything because his characterisation kinda sucked. Season 2 fixed it, though, and made it way easier for me to incorporate this version of Loki back into the larger mcu.

Having Steve stay in the past with Peggy was stupid af.

I don’t hate Peggy (or Captain Carter), though. I actually think she’s pretty cool.

I don’t really love Steve. He’s arrogant & they never really let him have flaws & something about him being a perfect metaphor for the American military industrial complex (and marvel painting that as a good thing) doesn’t sit right with me.

The Illuminati got done dirty and the only reason they went down so fast was because Wanda had all that plot armor.

I thought the retcon of having Wanda be “destined” to become the Scarlet Witch since birth was an annoying cop-out. Her powers originating from being experimented on with an infinity stone was way more interesting.

Loki & Wanda have almost the exact same powers.

Nebula deserved a bigger rule in killing Thanos & everything else moving forward.

I love Kathryn Newton but her acting as Cassie Lang was the worst acting I’ve ever seen in the mcu, like it was outrageously bad.

I’m glad Sam is the new Captain America and not Bucky.

The fact that Bucky probably isn’t gonna be one of Thee lead characters in the upcoming avengers movies feels sick and twisted.

Secret Invasion was actually passable until the G’iah scene at the end. That ruined it. And Nick Fury deserved way better for his solo series.

Kang is so much more interesting than Doctor Doom. I really hope they just recast him.

Carol Danvers does NOT deserve the hate she gets.

I actually disliked Carol until The Marvels. That movie made me a stan.

The way people treat Monica as Wanda’s little inferior pet creation or smth & then brag about it is uhh very sus.

I don’t like sylvie (bc she’s an amalgamation of 3 different comic characters- which killed any hopes of them appearing individually in the mcu, the creators used her existence to butcher Loki’s genderfluid rep, & she was written poorly) & I HATE sylki (bc it’s weird & unnecessary).

Marvel isn’t dead. I actually love where they’re taking things. But that’s just me.

Things to be mindful of when creating:

For Sam

Avoid framing Sam only as a caretaker or emotional support for Bucky. Be mindful of Sam acting angry or aggressive in an out-of-character way and falling into the angry/sassy Black man trope (check out the MCU source material to help with character traits).

Avoid decentering Sam as a main character and refrain from focusing entirely on Bucky.

In art: avoid whitewashing Sam’s skin and research drawing Black characters.

General disclaimer: Race affects every aspect of his life, including interacting with police/government and the white structures of the world when it comes to performing his duties as Cap and simply being a Black man that lives in the U.S.

For Bucky

Avoid phrasing “flesh/normal/human hand” to refer to the contrast between his prosthetic arm and his right arm. The phrasing is ableist. You can simply refer to his prosthesis when relevant, otherwise use “right/left arm/hand”.

Oh my gosh, such a good question to ask! 😆 A very hard one too Cassie, lemme think on this 🤔

Okay, a few things that would be a must would be:

A "Meanwhile, on the boat..." moment, or perhaps a montage of moments where things are happening throughout the MCU movies that happened post-TFATWS and Sam and Bucky are just 😂 on the boat, hearing about the events after the fact. I keep thinking about the scene in season 7 of Supernatural where they montage Dean commenting on what Castiel does with his new godlike powers while Dean fixes his car, but it doesn't have to be like that (3:16-3:46 here for reference lol).

Sam needs to save Bucky from falling. Sam had someone he couldn't save in the air. Bucky didn't have anyone to save him when he fell. Sam and Bucky both need that catharsis and it's wild that didn't happen in the first season.

Sam flying around as Bucky snipes at things 😂 Again - how did that not happen in the first season?

Sam and Bucky must either be already roommates or looking for an apartment which will be the place they will live in together.

Sarah, AJ, and Cass must be in it as well as other people we've seen like Carlos, Tommy, Isaiah, and Eli.

Another song by Curtis Harding must close the show's next sunset ending (it MUST be a good ending where they look into the sunset again, I'm sorry, I don't make the rules). Perhaps Can't Hide It by Curtis Harding?

Things I can live without but I think would be a waste if they aren't in a hypothetical season two:

A huge and exciting action sequence during a New Orleans Mardi Gras Parade with Sam being the King of that parade.

There's a team of villainous jugglers in the Marvel comics called the Death-Throws. I really want them as secondary comedic villains who may or may not be kind of good people a la Jessie, James, and Meowth from Team Rocket in Pokemon movies. Just let Sam and Bucky have some comedy villains in the background doing their thing, Marvel.

Visiting Steve on the Moon. I just think Sam and Bucky deserve space shenanigans. I will also take a Facetime, if that's too out of budget, though.

Misty Knight cameo where Sam and Misty either imply or outright talk about being exes. Probably amicable, though, it would be funny if Sam's a bit awkward about it, but Misty's chill with him.

Karli resurrection. She deserved more of a redemption arc than Walker. Bring her back to life, Disney, I dare you.

Bucky and Falcon!Redwing don't get along. More because Bucky is jealous than anything else.

A VISIT TO WAKANDA! Do they go to Birnin Zana? Do they visit the town Bucky was living in as a goatherder? Do they go to Ayo and Aneka's home for dinner? Maybe they possibly only let Sam into the country while Ayo is like "I told you to lie low for a while, White Wolf" to Bucky 😂

Baron Zemo can have a cameo, if only because Anthony Mackie was bummed that Daniel Brühl isn't a part of Cap 4.

Wildest Options I Don't Think Would Happen But I Would Love:

SamBucky wedding. It all takes place the days leading up to their wedding. Or, if I'm being more realistic, a wedding. Like, if, say Sarah and Rhodey were getting married or Carol and Valkyrie or perhaps Ayo and Aneka.

SamBucky kiss? Though, again, highly doubt that and I'm really okay with SamBucky not being canon.

Fourth wall break where Feige himself walks into a room, sits down, and apologizes about how he treated Sam Wilson's character in the MCU and promises to do better. He pulls out an entire slide show and the episode is just him talking about how he will be integrating Sam more thoroughly into the MCU. I'm talking how specifically Sam will cameo, where he will cameo, pitches for other projects Sam will be heavily tied to, the works.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

1,069,649

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Currently I write primarily Stranger Things with the occasion OFMD but I have written for Marvel (Stucky, Sambucky, Danbeau, gen), The Old Guard, and The Walking Dead. I tend to hyperfixate on a ship/fandom for a few years and then mostly move on when for whatever reason I no longer have interest.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Steddie completely overtook all my top fics, which is pretty wild. The top five are: The Prettiest Boy in Hawkins, Indiana Anywhere, Anytime Critical Hit It's Not a Big Deal I'd Burn the Castle for You

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Sometimes. I very much like to interact with fandom and fandom people. That's kind of the whole point. But I'm ultimately a person with a lot going on and treating comments like they're transactional (aka always owed a response) makes responding to comments feel like a job which is exhausting for me personally.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I mean, as much as I generally like a hopeful ending, there's a fair few. I mean, I was in The Walking Dead fandom where anyone can die so... lol But a recentish one I can remember is one I don't talk about much or promote really bc I don't like to think about it all that often. It's just Steve sneaking back into the Upside Down to bury Eddie. Nothing else, just closure. I wrote it when I was processing some feelings about losing my grandma's cat in a pretty traumatic way. I bottle fed him as a baby and always considered him kind of my cat too. Because of how and when it all happened, I had to take charge and bury him all alone, so I sort of used Steve to get some of it out.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Lol I tend to do Happy Endings so... God, hard to pick. I like the way I'd Burn the Castle for You ends because it's happy but it feels really grounded at the same time which I think makes it happier because it feels like they could actually have it. But when I think of the happiest, I might have to go back to Stucky and We didn't need this to love each other, but I'm glad we get to do it anyway which is a fic where Steve and Bucky never went to war, find a way to live a whole life together despite how hard it was to do so, and then get married when it's finally legal in NY. (Yes, I will keep using the characters getting married when it's finally legal trope because 1. I'm actually a sap, and 2. It's a good reminder that it's recent and hard-won.)

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Sometimes, not in a while

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Well. Hahahhahaha It can be anything from tender lovemaking to hardcore to hardcore with monsters and any mix or combo of those.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Crossovers in the sense of characters from different fandoms interacting? Not in a very long time, I don't think?

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Stolen where they attempt to pass it off as theirs, I don't think so. I have, however, had quite a few rude little fuckers repost it on Wattpad lol

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes! A few of my Stucky fics were translated into Russian.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No because I'm terrible at asking for people to work on stuff with me lol I am trying to get better at not thinking I'm annoying everyone all the time and actually talk about collabs and things. @sparklyslug and I are maybe going to do something if we can stop signing up for bangs lmao

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

I can't answer this because the answer is always going to change based on whatever I'm into at the time lol

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I can't point to any specific one because I genuinely don't know which ones I will and won't finish. BUT I do know there's never any conceivable way I'll finish all of my WIPs because just for Stranger Things, I have like 59. Maybe I'll say the Paramedic fic because I sort of lost the will to work on it after I took it down. It didn't really feel like there was any interest.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue. And fucknasty porn if we're being honest.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? I sometimes feel like I really struggle writing any interpersonal relationships because I'm pretty bad at them irl. I know ADHD bleeds into my work and in every single character I write even if they don't intentionally have ADHD traits because I'll never ever actually understand the world from any other perspective. I also have to resist overexplaining shit even in my writing. I'm also bad at actually, you know, starting the task of writing sometimes lmaooo Plus just, like, me and my insecurities. Which is more of a personal weakness but it def affects how I interact with some of my own work/responses to it sometimes. Also see above and hate asking for "help" and being a "bother" and the fact that only like a few of my stories are beta'd lol

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I don't do it very often, esp in Steddie. But I've done it in the past (I mean, Bucky Barnes, so...) It's like anything else in writing. You do it when you have a reason to do it and you consider the why of it and how different readers might interact with it and how you WANT them to interact with it.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

MCR and The Used bandfic back on motherfucking Quizilla

20. Favorite fic you’ve written? Not to flex with the fact that I have 131 works on ao3 and that I've been writing on there for over 10 years, but there are so many things I love and love still--or even things I don't love still and would do a completely different way but love the memory of, or even just the accomplishment represented by that thing--that it'd be impossible to pick just one. But I'll talk about a few that come to mind - Fave Steddie is still Cut and Changed and Rearranged and my baby bisexual Steve learning he is loved

I love the work and historical research I put into The Second Labor, my alt version of the first Captain America movie where Steve joins the war effort in a different way.

And I also love my Cyberpunk Stucky, Empires Fall, but Not Us and think of it fondly.

Replying to this about Bucky, but it can apply to any character!

As always, read lots of it. Writers have so many good ideas that can help you explore your own!

Then, pick something (just one, I know he has so many delicious problems but let’s start small), and think about how this particular problem affects the mundane aspects of life because to me, the relatable life bits are the things that end up hurting the most.

like, for example, Bucky’s body autonomy trauma can affect these grand romantic concepts like falling in love and physical intimacy — but like, they also affect his daily functions such as… making eye contact having self-worth. He’s used to being treated like a weapon so why is someone being nice to him? How does he respond to that?

And, it doesn’t have to be these huge explosive dramatic displays. It can just be, like, a scene. A look or shift in stance or a remark that shares their turmoil.

Here are some good angsty things that have re-written my brain:

and i want you, only by indigostohelit (SamBucky) - gorgeous convos, super quiet kind of vibe, really really worth reading.

call my name and i'll be gone - indigostohelit (Stucky) - Steve time travels back to Bucky in 1940, gets picked up by him. Gorgeous and also gutting.

collected short works by alcibiades - the first Bucky one is haunting. It's like 500 words and it scared the fuck out of me. it's just a single scene and it's so fucking sad.

Hold My Hopes Underwater collection, Chapter 4 by thepartyresponsible - Bucky meets Dream (Sandman) and the concept is SAD but the ending is hopeful and it's perfect. It's everything.

Chapter 5: Starry Nights

Warnings: discussion about medical procedure, little bit of angst I guess, FLUFF. A/B/O dynamics

A/N: Here it finally is my darlings!!!!!!!!! I know there is a lot of dialog but it’s how I was able to make the story work when you get to know what Bruce and Helen found out. Also we get Steve!!

Ch. 4

The view from the balcony was a welcomed distraction from the life altering information you had received. It gave you a chance to think about how you wanted to deal with the situation at hand. The fresh air was a stark contrast to the tense and suffocating moments you had while in the lab. Mostly due to your own reaction to the discovery made by Bruce and Helen. Fortunately you had Bucky, Steve and Sam close by if you needed them. Silently waiting for you to say something other than what they already knew.

You were an omega.

If they were excited about you knowing the truth they hadn’t shown it. Instead they had given you some space and didn’t push for you to say or do anything. They had however felt the distress roll off of you in waves and Bucky had been the first to suggest some fresh air even offering to stay with you if you wanted. And that is where you found yourself, leaning against the railing as you looked out towards the other skyscrapers while Bucky stood by you but still leaving some space in between. Never once questioning what else you had learned. Instead he only asked if you needed anything. You shook your head in response but looked in his direction to find him already looking at you. Soft understanding eyes met yours and a small sweet smile to put you at ease.

Steve and Sam stayed back, knowing that having three alphas around could be overwhelming. But the thing was that you wanted them near you, and now with everything you knew it made sense why.

“Where are Steve and Sam?” You asked after a while.

“Close by probably, do you want me to get them?”

“Yes please.”

“Friday, could you tell Sam and Steve to get out here.”

Not even two minutes later both men were walking through the glass door acting as if they hadn’t rushed out. You smiled at the way they tried to play it off.

“Hey, is everything ok?” Steve smiles once he notices your more relaxed state.

“Yeah, everything’s fine. I wanted to talk to you now that I’ve been able to think something’s over.”

“Well you’ve got our attention, sunshine.”

You smile at Sam. “I want you to know what Bruce and Helen found.” You inform them as you play with the hem of the shirt you wore out of sheer nerves.

“Are you sure? We don’t have to know just because we offered to help.”

“I know, I want you to know, but I’d prefer if they were the ones to explain it. If you want to know, that is.”

Steve looks at his mates as they both give a small nod. “Ok, how about we go find Bruce.”

“Ok.” You say as you cross from one side of the balcony to the other heading towards the door. With the three alphas behind you.

It was easy to find Bruce, back in his lab working on one thing or another. His eyes never moved from the microscope in front of him.

“You’re back, what can I do for you?” He says from the back of the lab.

“I want Steve, Bucky and Sam to know what you found.” Sounding a bit unsure at the moment. “I thought you would be better at explaining it.”

That did get his attention, his head now visible above the equipment. “You sure?” A hand comes up to fix his glasses as he rounds the table to stop in front of the four of you.

“Yes, If you’re comfortable with doing that.”

“Of course. Come this way.” You follow Bruce over to his desk. As he pulls up some scans you all find either somewhere to sit or lean against a table while staying close to you.

An image popped up hanging in the middle of the air, something that still surprised you even after seeing it so many times already.

“This is a scan Y/N had done a year ago.” Bruce steps into the center of the image and enlarges it. “This area is what I want you to look at. See these uneven patches with the jagged edges.” He looks over his glasses at the three men. “These are scars. She’s had them for a long time. I also want you to notice this little black dot right at the edge. they’re on both sides of her throat.”

He swipes his hand in the air and an almost identical image pops up. “This is the scan we did earlier today.”

“What’s that?” Bucky asked, referring to two grape sized lumps on the image.

“These are Y/N’s mating glands.” He swipes his hand again so that both scans appear side by side.

“They weren’t there in the first scan but she has them now?” Sam spoke up this time.

“Kind of.” You say from your seat as you look up to see the confusion on all of their faces.

“You see,” Bruce adds. “These little dots in the first scans are her glands.”

“So Y/N is a late bloomer or something? Since the mating glands weren’t there before, right?” Steve tries to piece the information together.

“No, everyone is born with these glands, they are just a lot smaller. Think of them as the size of a tic tac. As you get older they slowly start to develop and they get to their actual size by the time you’re supposed to present.”

“How can someone that didn’t have mating glands before have them now?” Bucky asks.

“Well it is possible for them to regrow. I hadn’t seen it first hand until now but these little black dots on the first scan were what was left of her glands.”

“So those scars are…” Steve doesn’t finish what he was going to say instead he looks at you. You give him a tight lip smile.

“They are from when Y/N’s mating glands were removed. Based on the fact that she never presented it means it happened before the age of 13. But the thing is that the procedure wasn’t done correctly so a little piece was left on either side allowing for regrowth.”

“They weren’t removed, they were ripped out.” You correct him. “That’s why the scar looks like that. It wasn’t a precise cut.” Instinctively you place a hand on your neck. “They didn’t care about how much pain I was in.”

“What?” Sam asked, his voice low and mixed with a growl. All three of them were livid. They moved closer to you in a protective manner, letting their scents meld together and soothe you.

“It was a hack job. From Y/N’s medical records there is a note saying she had her tonsils taken out at the age of 9. But her tonsils are intact.”

“Why would someone do this?”

Bruce sighed. “A lot of reasons. The only legal reason is medical and usually doctors wait until after a person presents before doing the procedure. That way they can prescribe the necessary pheromone replacements. This though, seemed more back alley type thing. Mating glands can go for thousands of dollars if sold to the right person on the black market.”

There was a moment of silence as the three men processed all the information they had received. They had a few more questions and they wanted answers but most importantly they wanted to make sure you’re ok. Steve’s hand rests on your shoulder to get your attention which you gladly give him.

“Are you ok?” He asks gently.

“Kind of. More things make sense now but I’m angry about it.”

“Do you want to stop? You just have to say the word.”

“No, I’m good.” You place your hand over his. “Really.”

He nods in response.

“So how do these people operate?”

“Well,” Bruce starts. “Some of the things I’ve heard is that they move around every few days, kidnap people. Mostly children, do the procedure and disappear without a trace. Others have an established facility and hide their true intentions by making it look like a regular doctor’s office.”

“You were kidnapped?” Concern evident in Bucky’s voice.

“No, I wasn’t.” You take a deep breath. “My parents willingly took me to one of these places.” You swallow the lump in your throat and blink back the tears.

In a few short strides Bucky was in front of you pulling you up from your seat wrapping you up in a hug, reminiscent of how you first met.

“I didn’t understand what was happening at the time but I remember the pain. I was barely under anesthesia.” You mumble as you keep your cheek pressed against Bucky’s chest. “I just thought I was going to see a doctor. I used to get sick all the time.”

They were taken aback by your admission. Your own parents had handed you over to these monsters for money. If it weren’t for the fact that you stood there in front of them right now safe in Bucky’s arms they would have thought the repercussions would be worse. Driven by their need to protect you and now others like you, they have decided to hunt these people down.

“Bruce, why is it that Y/N now has mating glands?” That was the biggest question, one they weren’t sure they were ready to know the answer too.

“How about I let you answer this one?” You look at Bruce while still holding on to Bucky. You nod and wait for him to leave.

You reluctantly step away from Bucky as you look at all three of them. Curious glances pass between them and you as you prepare to tell them the last bit of crucial information.

“Well, there is a reason why they somehow grew again.” you clear your throat. “It has to do with the three of you actually.”

A certain sense of excitement crosses through the bond. Their scents spiking in a reassuring manner that made you feel safe with them.

“You see, the only way that someone like me can have mating glands regrow is if they encounter their true mate.”

“So one of us is your true mate?” Sam asks with a quirked brow, a playful glint in his eye.

You shake your head leaving them confused. “You three are. At least that is what we believe based on my symptoms.”

“What symptoms?” Steve questions.

“Well it started when I met Sam. I went into a minor heat. The first one I ever had. I just thought I had a fever or something and didn't really think of it as the possibility of being an omega. By the time my glands had started developing I met Bucky which explains the intensity of my next heat. So when I met you it was a full blown heat because I had already come in contact with all three of you.” You give them a moment to think over what you just said to them.

Bruce and Helen are certain that it’s the only way that I could now have presented. It had to be you because I’ve spent a lot of time around other alphas and it’s never caused that reaction.”

It was a lot of information to take in but the last part was what they focused on. Something they had considered but now it was fact. Bucky being the closest to you u reached out and grabbed your hand in his. You welcome the comforting touch and now after they also know everything a weight has been lifted off your shoulders. It was scary to have learned all these things and if it weren’t for them you would have felt lost, but they keep you grounded. For the longest time you had felt like there was something wrong with you but that wasn’t the case. There were so many emotions to work through. Some truths you would have to face but that was something to worry about in the near future. Right now all you wanted to focus on were the three men standing in front of you. They stood waiting for your next move, and you weren’t sure what came next. You had rejected their courtship and you weren’t sure if they would even ask again.

“Y/N?”

“Huh? Sorry I was just thinking.” You say looking up at Sam and Steve.

“Do you want to get out of the lab?” Sam asked.

“Yes, please.”

He motions towards the door with his head. “C’mon.” He says as he and Steve turn and start to head outside.

Bucky hesitates for just a moment, he doesn't want to let go of your hand. He needed to feel you, to know that you were safe but he loosened his grip. You didn’t want to let go either, you needed this to stay calm. Squeezing his hand twice he finally looks at you.

“Is it ok if I hold your hand for a little bit longer?” You asked in a whisper.

“Of course. Let’s get out of here, I hate labs.” He says as he pulls you with him. All you can do is hold on to his hand as he moves around all the equipment and heads out and into the hallway, both Steve and Sam waiting for you. You see their eyes look at both of you and move to your hands. They narrow their eyes at Bucky who just stands taller and a smug grin on his lips. As if he were proud that you had chosen him instead of them. It was playful, no hard feelings between them. They were mates after all and they were yours too if they would still have you.

“Captain Rogers and Sergeant Barnes, your presence is being requested for an emergency briefing in conference room 506.” Friday announced suddenly.

Bucky curses under his breath before looking at you. Both Steve and Bucky knew that if it was an emergency they would be leaving right after the briefing.

“You’ll both be safe right?” You asked before they could say anything.

“Of course we will.” Bucky says before kissing your temple. You had been so wrapped up in looking up at him that you hadn’t noticed Steve getting closer to you.

“We’ll be back before you know it.” He assures you before taking your hand and placing a kiss on your knuckles and then turns his attention to Sam. This was the first time you saw them be affectionate towards each other. Part of you wants to look away to give them privacy but the other part, the one connected to them can’t. A smile tugs at your lips as you see Bucky and then Steve kissing Sam. Bucky looks at you and winks before he starts heading down toward the elevators.

“How about we get out of here?” Sam asks, holding his hand out for you.

“Ok.” You take his hand and let him lead you to the elevators. It’s a quiet ride down to the lobby. Once you’re on the sidewalk in front of the tower you can’t help looking up at the building. You still couldn’t believe how much had changed in the span of a couple of hours.

“What are you thinking about?”

“There are so many things that make sense now that I know. It’s going to be an adjustment for me, I was never taught anything about being an omega. And I know some things might come to me naturally but still, it feels overwhelming.” You say as you shift your eyes from the building to him who had been studying your face.

“Just know you don’t have to do it alone.” You both start walking down the street, you let him lead you. “You have us, if you want and there is help out there too.”

“Do you mean it, that I have you, all three of you?”

“Of course you do, if you want us. In any way, even if it’s just as friends.” That last part was painful to say but Sam knew there was a chance you wouldn’t want to pursue any other type of relationship, maybe there was someone else you were interested in and they just didn’t know.

“Even after I walked out of the restaurant last week?”

“Absolutely, especially now that we all know what happened to you, your reaction was understandable.”

You walked in silence for a moment, feeling like you were bombarding him with questions but there was just one more that you needed an answer to.

“What if I wanted to be with you as more than just friends?”

“Are you going to let us court you?” Sam asks as he looks down at you with hopeful eyes.

“Yes, I’d like that. Only if you, Steve and Bucky want to as well. I know it’s a lot and I have a lot of things to figure out and you’re already so busy with being an Avenger. None of you probably need to deal with someone that doesn’t even know how to be an omega.”

“You’re cute when you ramble. Come on, let's get some coffee.” You walk hand in hand to a coffee shop on the corner of the block you were on. You spend some time with Sam, he patiently answers all of your Avenger’s questions. Before you know it you’re standing in front of your apartment building, standing on your tippy toes to place a kiss on his cheek and a promise to call the next day.

As soon as you could you invited Jonah, Richard and Jules over to your apartment and told them everything. They had been stunned into silence by the news until an unholy shriek left Jules’ lip, she was ecstatic to have been right and immediately informed you that she would ‘teach you the way of the omega’ whatever that meant. Richard and Jonah were happy for you truly they were, but they had been the only family you had and when they knew that the three avengers would be courting you they couldn’t hide their need to protect you, especially now that you had presented as an omega. That protectiveness bled into work, if they checked up on you 4 times a day before, they had doubled the times they would come around to make sure you were ok. You couldn’t and wouldn’t complain though, they were doing more for you than your own family.

Work had been uneventful the last few days, mostly you spent it making copies, joking with Ricky and Jonah and avoiding Mrs. Levy at all costs. On the courting front Sam had dropped by two or three times that week with a cup of coffee and news on Steve and Bucky, mostly that they were ok and that they would be back soon. If he wasn’t able to drop by he always called or text just to check in. It was nice to have someone that cared and have someone to care for. But you were growing impatient wanting the other two alphas to come back already. You knew it would be something you would have to get used to.

Friday had been a very busy day and your boss had requested that everyone stay behind a few hours to finish setting up the next community event. By the time you were finished with your section it was pushing 7:30 pm and you were tired. The moment you could, you headed back to your desk, grabbed your things and walked towards the exit with Ricky in tow to lock the door behind you. All exhaustion left your body the moment you saw Steve walking towards the building. As soon as you opened the door he looked up, and you were rewarded with a breathtaking smile. You tried not to but you definitely moved faster to get to him. As soon as you’re close enough his arms snake around your waist as he pulls you up into a hug. Your feet hang in the air as your arms find their way around his shoulders. His face is hidden in your neck and you feel him relax against you as he inhales your scent. It’s the same reaction you have as you subconsciously mirror his actions before he puts you down. His hands still around your waist.

“Hi.” He says.

“Hi, when did you get back?” You ask as you look up at him with a smile permanently etched on your face.

“This morning, I wanted to stop by earlier but I had to debrief which took longer than I wanted to. Sam said you were working late today and I just had to see you. I hope that’s ok.”

“Of course it is, I wanted to see you too. Where’s Bucky? Didn’t he go on the mission with you?”

“Yeah, he had a few other things to take care of but I’m sure you’ll see him soon enough.”

Someone clearing their throat behind you ends the little reunion you had with Steve. Ricky stands there having watched the scene unfold completely amused.

“Captain, good it see you again.”

“Good to see you too, Ricky. But please call me Steve.” Steve nods in his direction.

“You two have a good night, see you tomorrow sweets.”

“Good night Ricky.” You say before turning back to Steve. “So.”

“So, are you busy right now?”

“All done for the night.”

“How do you feel about motorcycles?”

Your eyes widen with excitement. “I’ve always wanted to get on one. Let’s go.” You grab his hand and start heading in the direction he came from. Steve laughs as he lets you drag him along until you get to the street, spotting the only motorcycle you head towards it. Steve grabs a helmet you hadn’t noticed and places it on your head, securing it under your chin. He grabs your things and puts it in one of the side bags.

“Ok, I’m going to get on and you get on behind me. You’re going to have to hold on to me. Are you ready?”

“Born ready.” You say as you watch him get on his bike before offering you a hand. Taking it you move closer to the bike and settle behind Steve.

“Are you comfortable back there?”

“Yup. Where are we going?”

“It’s a surprise.” You wrap your hands around him as he starts the motorcycle and pulls out of the parking spot. Steve practically flies down the street, weaving between cars to get to his destination faster.

You sat up straighter as Steve started to slow down. He turned into a makeshift parking lot, already half full. Lanterns hanging above to light the way from the parking lot to the entrance, the chatter almost drowned out by music coming from somewhere further back. As soon as he’s parked you hop off the back seat and take off the helmet, smoothing your hair out. You wait for Steve to get off, he quickly grabs the helmet and puts it away.

“Ready?” He says, offering his hand.

“Absolutely.” You smile at him as you put your hand in his. It’s a quick walk to the entrance of what you realize would normally be an empty lot. There are booths selling all types of homemade items set up everywhere. A stage set up towards the back with a band playing and an area for people to dance. Food kiosks set up on the edge of the lot as the rest is filled with chairs and tables, rides and game booths. Lanterns are strung from booth to booth and in larger areas from tree to tree.

“Steve.” You whisper completely in awe of the places he’s brought you to.

“Ready to have some fun?”

“Hell yeah!”

There is a lot to do but you start with the booths looking over homemade jewelry and artwork. There were a few times when Steve almost lost you in the crowd as you went ahead of him, but he didn’t mind. Seeing the smile that adorned your face was more than enough. Every so often you would take out your phone and take pictures. You got on some rides and made him play some of the games he even won a prize for you. Of course he let you pick and you chose a little cream colored bunny dressed in his uniform.

After a while he found a bench so you could sit and listen to the music but far enough to give you privacy. You had cotton candy in one hand and the stuffed bunny he had won in another. Some of the things you had purchased sat on the bench beside you in a bag. He draped his arm behind you, giving you the chance for space or to get closer which you did. You always wanted to be closer to him.

“Having fun?” He asked as you looked down at you.

“You have no idea.” You beam as you take a piece of cotton candy and offer it to him. “Thank you for bringing me here.”

“Thank you for coming with me.” he says before eating the cotton candy you offered. “When’s the last time you went to a fair?”

“This is actually the first time.”

“What? Not even when you were a kid?”

You avert your eyes. Your childhood isn’t an easy topic to talk about. “Never, and then as I grew up I had other priorities. I was always trying to survive, you know. But I’m happy to be here now and that it’s with you.” You smile up at him.

“We’ll I’m honored to be the first to bring you to a fair.”

“Oh! Can we take a picture?”

“Anything for you.”

Steve moves close enough to almost be cheek to cheek as you take out your phone. You take a few to make sure you have a good option. Taking pictures was one of your hobbies, you weren’t a professional but you liked printing them to add to your album.

“Thank you.”

“Of course.” Steve smiles at you as he wraps his arm around your shoulder to move you closer, which you gladly let him do as you rest your head against his shoulder.

“It still feels unreal.” You tell him as you keep your eyes on the people singing and dancing to whatever song the band is playing.

“Which part?”

“Sitting here with one of the cutest alphas I’ve ever laid my eyes on.” You look up to see him blush, giggling at the site.

“I should be the one complimenting you.”

“I don’t see why it can’t go both ways. Besides, I like seeing you blush.”

“You’re going to be trouble aren’t you?”

“Yup.” You respond, making him chuckle. “I have a question.”

“What is it?”

“Were you ever scared? When you took the serum I mean. It was life changing. What if things hadn’t gone right?” you ask as you focus on the cotton candy in your hand.

“I was terrified. Everyone around me except for my ma and Bucky doubted my abilities as an alpha. That experiment gave me a chance to do what was right without anyone questioning my designation. And yes so many things could have gone wrong, my biggest fear was not seeing Bucky again. With what I know now he would have probably died if I hadn’t found him at that hydra base the first time or he wouldn’t be free now. But if I had to go back I would do it all over again.”

“Would you really?”

“Of course, I have Bucky, Sam, the team and I still get to do what I wanted to do which was help people. And most importantly I get to be here with you. I would have never gotten this chance if I let my fears get in the way.” He puts a finger under your chin so that you have to look at him. “Are you scared?”

“A little.”

“What’s scaring you?”

“I don’t know anything about being an omega. What if I’m not a good one? You, Sam and Bucky are great alphas and I haven’t even started to figure this out.”

“And that’s ok, you don’t have to figure anything out on your own. You have us and your friends for support. I can also safely speak for myself as well as for Sam and Bucky that we liked you before you completely presented and if you really didn’t have a designation we would have asked you out anyways.”

“You would, but why?” your curiosity piqued, it wasn’t every day that someone, especially an alpha would give you any type of attention.

“Well, with Sam I think initially he saw how beautiful you were and sweet, also something about 7 layers of magic. I have no idea what he meant.”

You smile at him.

“With Bucky, Most people are afraid of him because of his past but you weren’t. For him that was a big deal, Bucky feels responsible for the things he was forced to do so for you to feel comfortable enough to let him take care of you was important. And with me, you stepped in and helped a stranger in need. That says a lot about who you are as a person and I feel like I can be myself instead of Captain America.”

“Of course you can, I want to get to know you, not the man in the suit. I mean I’d like to see you in the suit at some point.” You mutter causing him to laugh.

“I’m sure you will, sweetheart. How about we get you home?”

“Ok,” you say as you reluctantly pull away from him, missing his warmth immediately.

Steve grabs the bags with your things in it and wraps his free arm around you with the other as you make your way out towards his motorcycle again. This time around the ride seems faster and it wasn’t because Steve was speeding, quite the opposite actually. Before you knew it you stood on the front steps of your apartment building with your bags and bunny in hand. You take a step up to be slightly taller as you say goodnight to Steve.

“Thank you, I had a lot of fun.” you beam.

“My pleasure, sweetheart.” He scratches the back of his neck. “So would you like to do this again?”

“Go out with you? Yeah I would love too, why wouldn’t I?”

“Well you could have changed your mind, it happens.”

“I think I’d convince Sam to let me borrow his wings before I change my mind about dating you, all of you.”

“Good,” He chuckles. “Oh I Um- I got you something.” He says as he goes back to his bike and pulls a little box out of his side bag. Opening it in front of you to reveal a necklace with a star charm on it. “I saw this and thought of you.”

“It’s beautiful,” a sweet smile graced your lips while you admired the gift. “Could you put it on for me please?” You turn around so that he can put it on you. Being this close to him again sends a shiver down your spine, his scent is stronger and somehow more appealing to you. Even the slightest touch from him gives you goosebumps. It’s the first time in which you feel that connection to both your designation and your mate, and you don’t panic or try to run.

Once the necklace is in place you turn back around, you realize how close you really are. His gaze is more intense and captivating. The world fades around you both and you feel as if the puzzle pieces are really starting to fall into place. You don’t realize what you’re doing until you feel his hands around your waist pulling you closer. His lips feel soft against yours and the kiss is sweet but passionate. Steve moves from your lips peppering kisses along your jaw and down your neck.

“Steve.” You whimper as he places a kiss where you both knew his mark would go eventually. Reluctantly he pulls back and places a chaste kiss on your lips. All you can do is stand there, drunk on his heady scent and the feeling of having him so close.

“You should go upstairs sweetheart.” He says after clearing his throat.

“Yeah, of course. Thank you for tonight, I really had fun. And for the necklace.” You beam. “Good night Steve.” You say as you finally get to the door of your apartment building.

“Good night Starlight.”

Kissing Sam Wilson #4 - Kissing Uncles - sambucky (526 words)

“We saw something,” AJ told his mother, his eyes wide. Sarah Wilson was used to such enthusiasm from the boys, but not necessarily this much confusion. Her son looked at her, frowning, but not with displeasure, mostly with curiosity. “Cass and me… we saw Uncle Sam and Bucky…”

“What were they doing?” Sarah asked, narrowing her eyes.

She knew that those two were becoming a thing, but she swore, if her son had caught them in an inappropriate moment, she was going to have words with them. She had avoided a lot of that talk as she’d been a single mom for most of the boy’s lives. If she had to deal with it now, on top of everything else…

“They were kissing,” AJ said with a gasp, as if it was something shocking. Thank goodness for the precious world of a child, where a kiss was something scandalous. “Why would they be kissing? I’ve never seen two boys kiss…”

Sarah bit her lip to suppress a smile. Kissing. It was just kissing. Also, small town Louisiana life hadn’t led to her son seeing many queer couples yet, so it wasn’t surprising, just a good learning opportunity. Sam had been out since they were pretty young, but had always been the type to keep quiet unless he was in a relationship, and the boys were far too young to remember Riley.

“Well, you know,” she said, looking at her son with a soft smile. “Some boys prefer to kiss boys and others prefer to kiss girls. Some also don’t have a strong preference either way and will kiss both depending on who they fall in love with.”

“I heard that before,” her son pointed out. “It just seems weird…Uncle Sam likes Bucky then? Like like-likes?”

“Yeah, I think he like-likes him a lot,” she said honestly.

The boy took a moment, contemplating that. Then, he surprised his mother by smiling widely. “Hey mom, if adults like each other they get married sometimes, right?” he asked. “Like you and dad were married before he died…”

“Yeah…”

Where was this going? She raised an eyebrow, curious.

“Well, if Uncle Sam is kissing Bucky, then they might get married someday,” AJ said matter-of-factly. Sarah couldn’t deny that kind of logic. “You don’t really kiss someone unless you want to marry them, or that’s gross. So, Sam must want to marry Bucky some day.”

“Makes sense,” Sarah said, hiding her smirk.

“Okay.”

Sarah didn’t think about the conversation much until dinner that night. Sam and Bucky were still working on getting a permanent place in Delacroix and staying with her and the boys until that was done. They were sitting at the table and Sarah was in the middle of setting a tray down when Cass told Bucky he was their new uncle.

“No,” AJ objected. “He will when Sam and Bucky get married. They’re not married yet.”

“But it’s like you said,” Cass argued. “If they were kissing like that, then they have to want to get married. If not, it's gross.”

Sam and Bucky both stared and Sarah couldn’t help laugh hysterically.

“To be fair, it is gross.”

Hi everyone, I’m taking a short break from Tumblr. I realized that after some time some people start doing and saying stuff that they would never do "in real life" and the reason for that is because they’re too much online. I’m chosing to stay away from that for a while, but I’ll be back! I’m going to miss my Tumblatives, especially the Sambucky fandom which is imo the best fandom on here! I just need a break from all the other content and all of the toxic people on here.

Tumblr can be a very annoying place and no matter how many people I block, there are still people who find a way to harrass other people, get on Anon and be disgusting. There are also the annoying people who just state their opinions and pretend they are facts. And while it's very cute when it comes to fandoms and stuff...it's scary when people say stuff unironically about more serious topics and real life stuff.

I'm leaving my asks open but will only reply to them when I come back.

I'll probably come back when the Grey's drama resumes or if there any big news on the Cap 4 movie.

The SamBucky Summer Bingo 2023

The @sambuckylibrary will be holding a Summer Bingo! The event will start on June 1st and run until August 31st. During that time, we will be reblogging and sharing the work you guys create here on our blog.

You can post fanfiction, art, moodboards, podfics, edits, etc. It’ll be a low-stakes event. No need to sign up. Just remember to tag @sambuckylibrary in your post for each fill, and we will be tracking #sbsummer2023 for reblogs.

What is this?

It’s a SamBucky bingo event.

Is there any pressure?

No pressure at all. Fill one prompt. Fill all the prompts on every bingo card. Do however many you please.

Can I fill more than one prompt with one piece of art/one fic?

Yes! You can fill one prompt with one piece of art or fic. You can try to fill all nine prompts on the card at once with one piece of art or fic. If you can fill every single prompt from every single bingo card in one fill, that'd be wild but it's okay by the rules. You can do any number in between.

Are there any prizes for making anything for this event?

Just the satisfaction that you made something cool.

Is it just SamBucky?

Yes please, just SamBucky. There can be side ships, but the main ship should be SamBucky.

How long will this event run?

It will run from June 1st and run until August 31st.

I heard there are badges I can use for each fill?

What are the guidelines for the bingo?

I will be borrowing some of this from the MYSU Valentine’s Day Bingo 2022 Guidelines, since they were fantastic.

For Everyone:

1. Remember to @sambuckylibrary in the post as well as #sbsummer2023.

2. Please also tag the square you’re filling (for instance, if the square is “Hiking”, use “#hiking” as one of your tags when posting about it on Tumblr).

3. If you’re uploading to AO3, please:

a ) Say somewhere which prompt you’re filling.

b ) Add it to The SamBucky Summer Bingo 2023 Collection (SamBucky_Summer_Bingo_2023).

For Artists:

1. Create at least one piece of new art that can’t have been posted anywhere else before this.

5.) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do, yes! Sometimes it takes me a little while to write back if things in real life are hectic, but eventually I do, because I love chatting with readers about what they noticed in a story and what I was thinking about/working on while writing.

6.) What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I have never written what I would call an unhappy ending. But sometimes what we know about the canon ending can still make the ending of a fic bittersweet, and that's true of a fair number of fics I've written. I think the two fics that leave canon angst most fully on the table are my MCU ficlet A Stitch in Time, which is about what else Steve might have done while returning those stones, and my wee Star Wars piece Yes, It Feels Like That, which is a moment with Leia's grief during ANH.

7.) What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I swear: I used to write plenty of fics that were happy all the way through! That happens a lot less frequently now. But Right on Time is just about the happiest ending I could give to a post-war Codywan, and my Sambucky fic Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice is (to me) maybe the funniest fic I've written.

8.) Do you get hate on fics?

I've been very lucky with readers who are largely very generous.

9.) Do you write smut? If so what kind?

I am a relative newcomer to writing smut, but I have dabbled, yes. I'm not sure what kind of smut it is. Feelings-forward, I guess?

10.) Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I think the only thing I've written that could come close to being classified as a crossover was my very first multi-chapter fic, Should You Choose to Accept It, which included characters from both the mainstream Avengers and Agents of SHIELD and mashed up the plots of Iron Man 3, CA: TWS, AOS Season One, and Mission Impossible 3.

11.) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I'm aware of.

12.) Have you ever had a fic translated?

Not yet!

13.) Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

Yes! The Stony identity porn/professor AU fic Citation Needed was a collaboration with the incredible @festiveferret, and it is the most fun I've had writing fic.

14.) What's your all time favorite ship?

Cannot pick a favorite, but my first OTP was Mulder/Scully, and they will always have a special place in my heart.

15.) What's a WIP you'd like to finish, but doubt you ever will?

God what a painful question. 😅 I am a stubborn bastard, and I don't know if I've fully admitted defeat on any of my WIPs, even the ones I've neglected the most. But the WIP that's probably been waiting for my attention the longest is the sequel to my Stony fic Three Little Words; or, Five Times Steve and Tony Didn’t Actually Apologize + One Time They Did, which I cannot abandon or scrap for parts because I'm really attached to the bits that I have written, but which I haven't been able to make progress on for a long time. Bug me for snips about it if you like: I would love to be able to share what I have so far.

16.) What are your writing strengths?

A borderline aggressive amount of figurative language, narrative beats that feel layered, and I think I have a decent ear for dialogue.

17.) What are your writing weaknesses?

I'm so, so, so inexpressibly slow, and I also build up increasing levels of anxiety about WIPs when I'm not getting outside perspectives about them, so I find it nearly impossible to write anything longer than 20k.

18.) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I have experimented with this a little bit in the past, and I'm currently trying it again in a WIP in a language I'm not deeply familiar with, which is nerve-wracking. But I think it can be so effective when done well, and I'm excited to keep growing in that area.

19.) First fandom you wrote for?

Stony in the MCU: a missing-scene fic from Endgame

20.) Favorite fic you've ever written?

I love all my children equally, but my Codywan fic Recollection is probably the fic that felt most ambitious to me at the time that I wrote it: memory-related temporal shenanigans, surreal scene changes, some heavy psychic territory, and my very first smut scenes. I'm proud of how many new things I tried.

This one definitely stems from my childhood lol. If two characters were beefing I’d be like ‘but maybe kiss??’ I mean, good obsession and bad obsession is still an obsession either way, and I love people fighting their feelings for each other.

Enemies With Benefits: 6

Same feelings as the last one but I prefer the slow burn and denial.

Fake Dating/Relationship: 6

There’s a lot good here, lots of pining and misunderstandings. It’s not in my top favorite tropes but I do really like it

Oooooh I eat this shit up!!! I love groups of friends loving each other like family! Give it to me! I want Friendsgivings and showing up for birthdays and being each others’ emergency contacts. Yes yes yes to everything involved in this trope

I’m pretty in to this one, because I think any good relationship is a friendship first. And I like with enemies to lovers I really enjoy the confusion and feelings denial

I fuck with this big time. I’m such a sucker for both parties acting like it’s just sex and secretly being in love. The mutual pining here is *chefs kiss*

Meh, samstevebucky and royjamiekeeley are the only ships that I really like for poly stuff.

do I even need to explain??? This is my favorite trope, above all others, eternally. Give me the babies, give me the cravings, give me those baby bumps, give me all the new parent feels.

For me, characters knowing they are meant to be together takes out all the suspense and will they won’t they. It is very rare for me to enjoy a soulmates fic.
