thoughts on the bracket?

Y’ALL KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS

okay so i might be him bc my final four is still the same i got:

UConn

UCLA

South Carolina

Texas

ALBANY 1 - i think obviously albany 1 is the hardest to get through. you’re looking at a bracket with south carolina, who is absolutely untouchable - but we know that from last march, that might not stay true.

that being said, i don’t see south carolina experiencing an upset before the final four. dawn run that shit like that navy bro - that is a team whose talent and discipline run deep.

that being said, notre dame has been tough this season, even without olivia miles. oregon state has recently been really holding their own, but my teams to watch are oklahoma and fairfield for upsets. i honestly do see indiana making an early exit from the tournament, but who knows!

ALBANY 2 - rebecca lobo might be onto smth here saying this is the hardest region. if you’re not iowa, ucla, or lsu, this region is a fucking nightmare. even if you are one of those teams, this region is a fucking nightmare.

the reason i have ucla in the final 4 is because both lsu and iowa have the huge potential to choke. ucla has also just been a very good fundamental team this year. they’re just a more polished team than lsu, and while i don’t think they’re more polished than iowa, i think they have the power to shut them down defensively in the way ohio state did their first matchup. they have very solid pieces in charisma osborne, kiki rice, and of course, lauren betts.

obviously, i’d still keep an eye on kansas state, but i would also look out for princeton with a great court presence in kaitlyn chen, as well as wvu, who had a really strong start to the season.

PORTLAND 3 - this vanderbilt columbia play in is going to be the most interesting thing to me in the beginning stages of the tournament. vandy isn’t a perennial powerhouse by any means, but they’re housing a slam? all american in justine pissott, but i haven’t heard from them at all this year. columbia’s got a serious threat in abbey hsu, so that should be a really nice matchup to watch.

y’all already know who i’m riding for out of here, but i’m serious when i say march madness p is a whole different beast. for those of y’all who just started watching, you’re not fuckin ready bro. you’re not ready. that’s why i have such confidence that they can beat socal.

y’all remember 2021 baylor right? yo that was a STACKED ASS TEAM. didi richards, dijonai carrington, nalyssa smith, queen egbo - and paige made the bubble her bitch. that sweet 16 rematch is definitely scary, but paige doesn’t like to make a habit of losing to the same team twice in a row (unless that team is south carolina). ohio state only beat us without paige. they’re not fuckin ready for this shit bro.

that said, i’d keep my eyes on nc state and tennessee in this region, they’re bound to stir some shit up for sure

Terrible early 2000s stoner comedy AU called Weed College (a very dubious pun on Reed College in Portland, Oregon, where the story isn’t even set, probably). Details:

Argyle is a gentle soul who owns a head shop on the main drag of a college town. He lets his friend Eddie play music there sometimes, which proves to be a mistake when Eddie incurs the wrath of conservative Christian frat boy Jason by sabotaging his anti-abortion Christian haunted house on Halloween. Jason and his frat buddies vow to have the head shop closed down.

Jonathan, a stressed-out scholarship student, also works at the shop. He’s worried that his type-A longterm girlfriend Nancy will find out he smokes weed, and also that her douchey ex Steve, also Jason’s frat bro, is trying to persuade her to break up with him. Steve is trying to do this, in fact, and he does so by revealing in front of both of them that Jonathan smokes weed. Nancy is not impressed by this maneuver. She’s like, “Jonathan…I also smoke weed” and takes out a BIG JOINT. They embrace and Steve is moved. “May I try some weed?” he asks, and they say yes. The weed turns him all the way nice and they have a threesome. Also he defects and helps take down the frat.

Robin, a musically and linguistically talented lesbian who just started at college, abruptly goes from lonely closeted girl to (excuse my language) total pussy magnet. Her fun and flirty energy wreaks havoc on Jason’s frat’s sister house, because every girl gradually either wants to sleep with her or hang out with her or at least dress like her. She is literally just trying to study for her Russian final for most of the movie but life keeps happening.

Eddie finds out that Chrissy, Jason’s sweet girlfriend, is a total weirdo who feels stifled by all the conservative Christianity. They fall in love, which brings Jason’s rage to a fever pitch.

At one point, Argyle’s goth girlfriend Eden’s Mormon family visits, so she had to put on preppy girl drag and he has to disguise the head shop as an off-brand Hallmark Store.

Staring down at the all but beaten champion, Damion allowed an evil grin cross his face as he watched Liam turn over to his side and cough up and spit out blood. "Why... don't you.... just... end... it?" Liam sputtered as he heaved for air while writhing in pain. Damion answered with a knee to Liam's back that sent Liam sprawling chest first in the dirt. Liam then felt Damion on top of his lower back. Slowly and deliberately, Damion pulled Liam's arms back and up. Liam would offer fierce resistance if he could, but he was so beaten and sore that he could offer none. Liam felt his sore pecs stretched as Damion started to put Liam into a camel clutch. As soon as Damion sat down onto Liam's lower back, the intense pain shot up and down Liam's spine. "AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHhhh.............." Liam's blood curdling scream of pain that he would have used to submit and end the fight was stuffed short as Liam gouged his fingers into Liam's mouth. With all of his might, Damion pulled back on Liam's upper mouth. The fishhook combined with the camel clutch created more pain than Liam had ever felt in a fight. Damion leaned far back with his whole body flexing and straining as he pulled on Liam's palette while simultaneously pushing down on Liam's lower back. With Damion's four fingers gagging Liam's he could not speak or utter his submission. He could only feel his body being torn asunder from the force of Damion's abuse. While this was taking place, Scrap was booming with videos, memes, images, and messages. The fans ate up everything Damion, The Drifter, was doing to the former Oregon Champion. Girls and guys alike were worshiping the blond beast of a man who could dismantle any fighter. Many wanted to feel Damion's rock hard muscles themselves. Others pined over the ability to engage in muscle worship or sex with the Drifter. There were many offers pouring into the site for Damion to dominate, work over, get massaged, get pleasured, etc. from fans. On the flip side was the complete ridicule and merciless taunting of Liam. The crowd was cruel and ruthless in their spite at the former champion. Liam's destruction online was faster and more complete than anything that had happened in the clearing with Damion.

I'm not sure if my question will meet the criteria you posted regarding asks/headcannons/fanfics (itz my first time hehe), but I gotta ask 😅: If Thranduil, his wife, and the 5 brothers had lived in the modern times, what would their lives be like (ex. jobs, lifestyles, modern interests, etc.)? Basically a modern au of sorts...? I understand if you do not answer my question if it really didn't meet the criteria, but if you do answer, thanks in advance!

MODERN AU: THE ROYAL FAMILY OF MIRKWOOD

The House of Thranduil

Modern AU set in the United States (this writer is American and doesn't want to embarrass herself speaking of other countries, lol)

Fair Warning: This entire family is ridiculously accomplished in this AU, but this is clearly fictional so just ride along the fantasy with me!

Apologies for the length and infodump style--my mind really ran off with this concept!

Thranduil, The Patriarch

Businessman/CEO and 4th generation landowner.

Land ownership currently includes 1 million acres of timberland around the West Coast.

Business holdings include logging, saw mills, wineries, and forest-product manufacturing companies that employs thousands of employees.

Attended Wharton School to study business but dropped out in his third year when his father passed; (reluctantly) took over the company at 21 years old to prevent it from being seized by his father's scheming partners.

Met and fell in love with Maereth, a classmate at Wharton, but she was already in a relationship with someone else.

Continued to pursue her over the course of 10 years until they finally wed right before he turned 30.

His family home is a 2,000-acre ranch in Northwest Oregon, but he travels constantly all over the country.

During the economic downturn, saved the business and his people's livelihood by selling off a third of the family's acreage.

Refuses opportunities to expand in favor of maintaining fair wages for his employees and ethical and environmentally sound practices.

Personal hobbies include breeding and racing horses, outdoor activities, wine-collecting, and travel.

Despite rubbing elbows with powerful, rich businessmen like himself, he despises that crowd and spends only as much time with them as necessary for business.

His closest friends are the folks in his small hometown and the employees who work alongside him.

Maereth, The Matriarch

Born to a lower-middle class family from Scranton, Pennsylvania. Father was a construction laborer and mother was a part-time receptionist.

The middle child and only daughter; has 3 brothers.

Only one in her family to attend and finish college.

Practically engaged to her boyfriend at the time she met Thranduil.

Despite her rejecting Thranduil's advances and professions of love because of her existing relationship, she felt attracted to him and could not bring herself to forget him. They maintained a friendship after Thranduil dropped out of Wharton and moved back West.

Once her relationship with her boyfriend ended, Thranduil resumed courting her, but she rejected his marriage proposal out of a desire to pursue a career on her own.

Started her own company and ran it for several years before selling it at a large profit. Used the money to pay off her family's loans and help her parents retire.

Was finally won over by Thranduil's persistence and obvious devotion, and agreed to marry him.

Gave birth to their five sons over the course of a single decade.

Raised her children as a stay-at-home mom until they all reached their teens.

Currently sits on the board of the family's corporation and serves as the Chief HR Officer.

Chairs the family's private foundation that gives millions to charitable causes annually.

Is a talented crafter, craftsman, and builder, more so than her husband and most of her sons (except for Mirion), with enough skill to complete simple remodels on her own. She is the ultimate DIYer who dives eagerly into manual labor, which is one of the things Thranduil admires most in her.

Is also a successful gardener, able to keep flourishing backyard gardens that bear flowers, fruits, and vegetables of different kinds.

Spends most of her free time on endless home improvement projects or traveling as needed to visit her sons.

Mirion, eldest son - The Heir

The dutiful son who accepted his role as the eventual heir to the company. Started shadowing his father as a teen.

Married to his high school sweetheart, with whom he has two children (so far the only grandchildren of Thranduil and Maereth).

Lettered in 3 high school sports: baseball, football, and track, but discontinued sports in college to focus on academics.

Holds a degree in materials engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.

Upon marrying, settled his family at a ranch house in Oregon to stay close to his parents and majority of their holdings.

Started his own construction company that eventually became a part of the family conglomerate.

Was a stay-at-home dad for several years to allow his physician wife to return to her small town practice.

Attends many high-profile social engagements on behalf of his parents.

The ultimate dad: very involved in his kids' lives and is beloved by their friends; their home is a popular hangout for the neighborhood kids.

Constantly hit on by single moms and dads; unfortunately for them, he is singularly obsessed with his wife.

Had a very brief stint as a commercial model during his college years, and agents often suggest he return to it--but he has zero interest.

Very down-to-earth and a homebody outside of work. Leans towards introversion.

Favorite past times: DIY projects around his house, fixing up old cars, riding his horses, playing with his dogs, and having neighbors over for big backyard BBQs.

The closest thing the family has to a cowboy. The only one of his brothers to reside in a rural area and the only one besides their parents to own and keep horses.

Turhir, second-born son - The Soldier

Knew early on that he wanted to travel the world and serve his country as a soldier in the armed forces.

Enlisted in the US Navy straight out high school and became a SEAL.

Joined DEVGRU (Seal Team Six) where he became the officer of an assault squadron.

Has been in back-to-back tours of duty since his first deployment at age 19.

Has a running count of 10 combat tours, which would have been more if not for an entire year sidelined while he recovered from a serious spine injury that almost left him paralyzed.

Is quietly the most decorated Navy SEAL in history, with commendations that include two Silver Stars, three Bronze Stars, five Purple Hearts, the Navy Cross, and the highest honor: the Medal of Honor.

The perpetual nomad/couch surfer and the only brother not to own his own residence.

Was cheated on by his girlfriend while he was away on deployment. Never recovered from the heartbreak and has had no serious relationships since.

Favorite past times: Training for triathlons (running, swimming and biking), spending time with his brothers, reading novels.

Has competed in the Ironman World Championship and Badwater Ultramarathon.

Consumes paperback novels like water; buys them from used book stores and then donates to libraries afterward.

Frequently does hands-on volunteer work for charities like Habitat for Humanity and local food banks.

Suffers from PTSD and depression, which he manages with medication and regular therapy.

Absolutely detests social media and refuses to engage in any of it.

Avoids press attention like a plague. Does not attend big social functions with his family unless begged to by his mother.

Stays so far away from the limelight, the press/media sometimes forgets he is part of Thranduil's famous family.

Arvellas, middle-born son - The Genius

A bonafide genius with an IQ of 165, tested when he was only 12 years old; was subsequently accepted into Mensa.

Although he was a clearly gifted child, his mother declined to accelerate his education or place him in a different school from his brothers. She believed it was more important for him to enjoy as normal a childhood as possible.

Started college at Stanford University at the fairly typical age of 17, but completed his premed degree within two years and was a Doctor of Medicine by 26.

Not a practicing physician since he has instead devoted himself to a career in medical research, specifically in developing targeted treatments for aggressive cancers.

In addition to his MD, he holds graduate degrees in biochemistry and biophysics.

Has more trophies and accolades than all his brothers combined, all of them for intellectual achievements in various fields.

Holds over a dozen patents for different scientific devices, processes, and formulas.

A polyglot who speaks 8 foreign languages conversationally, including Spanish, Mandarin, German, Italian, French, Arabic, Hindi, and Japanese. Once he has gained fluency in one language, he immediately starts studying another.

Also speaks at least a couple of constructed languages from sci-fi/fantasy worlds.

On a dare from his younger brothers, took and aced the LSATs and was accepted to several Ivy League law schools, though he never attended.

Stays in athletic shape through biking, swimming, and playing tennis.

Reads (and collects) comics and graphic novels as often as he reads scientific journals.

Goes to at least one comic con a year as his schedule allows.

Wears a coat and tie even more frequently than his father does.

Gelir, fourth-born son - The Adventurer

A wildlife biologist and rehabilitation specialist with degrees in zoology and veterinary medicine.

Specialty is working with and rehabilitating wild mammals. His favorite animal is the wolverine, which was the first truly wild creature he had rescued and nursed back to health early in his career.

Prefers to do contract work with non-profit organizations, which enables him to continue travelling due to a a less-restrictive schedule.

Also does a lot of short-lived gig work on the side that allows him to engage in his hobbies while earning. Examples are working as a safari guide, a park ranger, or climbing instructor.

An avid (almost obsessive) outdoor adventurer who avoids spending time in cities as much as possible, and likes to explore new remote locations through camping and hiking.

A skilled climber with experience in nearly all types, including free soloing, mountaineering, and ice climbing.

A licensed scuba diver and skilled surfer and rafter. Swims like a fish.

Licensed to pilot private planes, drive motorcycles, and drive boats.

Most widely traveled member of his family, having been to every continent in the world, including Antarctica.

Only one in his family who can speak an African language (Swahili), which he likes to crow to Arvellas about.

Has made a conscious decision to keep/owns no pets, due to his frequent travels making him unable to properly care for one.

The eternal bachelor whose interest rarely goes beyond a few dates; has never been in a serious relationship and understands his restless wandering would make him a terrible boyfriend.

Was previously reluctant to put himself and his work in front of a camera, but realized (through his brother Legolas) that he can make a good amount of money by creating and posting videos on social media--money that would fund his travels and exploits.

Has been approached by major producers to host his own adventure show series, but prefers to work with independent filmmakers on legitimate documentaries.

Legolas, youngest son - The Celebrity

Professional footballer. Star striker of the US Men's National Soccer Team and the Seattle Sounders FC.

Career achievements include an Olympic bronze medal, an MLS (Major League Soccer) Cup, and a FIFA World Cup (a US first!).

The most independently wealthy of all the brothers due to multi- million dollar endorsements that include Adidas and Pepsi.

Has his own staff that includes a personal assistant, a publicist/social media manager, a private chef, and very hardworking sports agent.

A social media star with a following of 50 million in Instagram and still climbing, making him by far the most famous one in his family.

Is occasionally able to convince Gelir to do adventure/extreme sports-related videos with him, which always go viral. While Legolas does it for the fun and bonding experience, Gelir agrees to do it mostly for the money. On rarer occasions, he is able to convince Mirion to participate as well, when it has a fundraising aspect.

Diagnosed with both dyslexia and ADHD, which he manages with medication.

Aside from playing soccer and other traditional team sports, his hobbies include extreme/adventure sports such as skiing, snowboarding, windsurfing, mountain biking, skydiving, and paragliding.

Also a talented sketch and comic artist who occasionally shares his works online.

His favorite charitable activity is visiting children's hospitals, (including making sizeable donations), and has been requested several times by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Constantly being romantically linked to celebrities, less than half of which are actually true.

Receives a lot of attention from women and is frequently pursued by them. In all the "noise" on top of being in the public eye, he finds it challenging to find partners to genuinely fall in love with.

Tends to struggle with periods of loneliness, during which he seeks refuge in his family.

MY PERSONAL STARKID MUSICAL TIERLIST

(disclaimer: these are MY opinions. this is in NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM meant to be DISRESPECTFUL or HATEFUL of other's opinions. i AM leaving out a VHS christmas carol as i have yet to see it)

13 -A Very Potter Senior Year

ok ok, i get it. it's part of the potter trilogy of starkid. something about it, however, just didn't make it stand out. it isn't at the bottom because i didn't like it, it's down here because i didn't like it AS MUCH as the others.

12 -A Very Potter Sequal

once again; a good fucking musical, just didn't stand out as much as others did to me.

11 - Ani

this musical was funny as hell and i'm always a sucker for shows that nick lang acts in. however, while i know that it's a parody plot, i never could be interested in star wars, no matter how hard i tried. while it was funny, and i found it to be interesting, i didn't laugh as hard as some people because i didn't understand some of the jokes made about the show. this musical is placed at 11th purely because i cannot physically or mentally bring myself to enjoy the star wars franchise.

10 -Firebringer

i love the characters, i love some of the jokes, i love some of the songs. that being said, i feel like this musical was one of the lesser entertaining of the starkid musicals. there were so many things going on that it was hard to understand everything. that being said, the SOLE reason i placed this one above Ani is the line "fuck no, zazz" being a response to zazzalil flirting with clark up at the keyboard.

9 -Twisted

the plot, characters, songs, and HOLY SHIT DYLAN SAUNDERS AS JA'FAR WAS NOT SOMETHING I KNEW THAT I NEEDED. the entire musical was SO GOOD. the only reason this musical is placed at 9th is because i HAVE to place my personal favorites higher.

8 -A Very Potter Musical

while i placed the other two of the potter trilogy at the bottom of the list, avpm is a strong 8th place here. joey richter as ron, lauren lopez as draco, and quirrelmort (along with the entirety of the rest of the show, these were just my favorite parts) all made this musical amazing. a timeless piece.

7 - Me and My Dick

mamd is an interesting one to rank. i didn't really know where to put it, but i stand firm that it's 7th here. the music, the characters, everything. it's a timeless piece that show the absolute talent starkid had even back at the beginning of the company.

6 -Trail To Oregon!

tto was one of my first introductions to starkid. it was definitely one of the most funny in my opinion. i think the song that placed it so high was 'Independence!' purely because of joey (shh no one can tell who my favorite starkid is, it's fine). once again, not placed higher only because my top five CANNOT be beat.

5 -Holy Musical, B@man!

this one is very similar to Ani. i had no clue of the plot, i'm not into the superhero shows. HOWEVER the characters and songs were more captivating, and i think it was funnier (still also a sucker for shows nick lang acts in)

4 -The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals

it was a difficult pick between this one and the next, but i had to place number 4 where it is. tgwdlm was my FIRST introduction to starkid. the music is great, jon matteson slayed (as he always does), ted made me love the spankoffski's before i knew who they were, and the whole show was amazing. once again, only not placed higher because my top 3 cannot be matched.

3 -Black Friday

HOLY SHIT. angela as lex, kendall as hannah and tim, dylan as tom, lauren as linda, JON AS WIGGLY WTF I LOVED THIS MUSICAL SO MUCH HOLY SHIT.

2 -Starship

this one may get me in hot water, but i'm not afraid of controversy if it means i get to be correct. NOT ONLY is JOEY the protagonist, he has kick ass songs, nick lang acts, joe walker as up, krayonder, JUNIOR. THIS MUSICAL IS TOP TIER AND I WILL FIGHT FOR THAT.

1 -Nerdy Prudes Must Die

you all know i had to do it. joey as peter spankoffski, mariah as stephanie lauter, ANGELA AS GRACE, THE SUMMONING WTF, will made the PERFECT max, the ENTIRE THING WAS SO GOOD WTF I LOVED ALL OF IT.

I am requesting goth country music recs!

You got it! Now, obviously goth is its own thing. Has its own sound. In my post, I meant more than there are gothic themes in country music, so you won’t find like, Sisters of Mercy wearing cowboy hats. Some of this is Southern Gothic, some of this is simply alt-country music with dark themes. You’ll also get bluegrass and Americana (which is sort of where rock and country meet). I tried to keep this mostly country since that’s what you asked, but I overlapped a lot and I tried to keep the sound diverse!

• Old Number Seven by The Devil Makes Three. The Devil Makes Three is a band based out of California but Bluegrass and Country make up a majority of their discography. They also have I Am The Man Thomas.

• Decoration Day by The Drive By Truckers. They’ve also got a great one called Where The Devil Don’t Stay. This is alt-country and rock. This particular one is sung by Jason Isbell, who’s my favorite country/americana artist. He’s from Muscle Shoals, Alabama and has a song that got pretty popular called If We Were Vampires.

• Hypothermic by Goodnight, Texas. I wasn’t sure if I should put this on because they verge on folk, but I’ll be real, there’s so much stylistic overlap that folk, Americana, and country are like triplet sisters by this point. A better example would be Jesse Got Trapped In The Coal Mine, and Tucumcari on account of their twang. They’re from North Carolina.

• E. Watson by the Decemberists. The Decemberists are from Portland, Oregon and are pretty well-known for their indie folk. That being said, E. Watson is a murder ballad and is sort of undeniably a country song.

• Barton Hollow by The Civil Wars. They’re a group out of Nashville, famously collaborated with Taylor Swift. Nice balance of male and female vocals.

• Appalachian Witch by Gallows Bound. Virginia band known for using punk influence to play bluegrass. It’s pretty sick.

• Highwomen by the Highwomen. They’re supergroup of country music singers, all of which have some kickass discography, but this one is darker. My personal favorite in the group is Amanda Shires, who has a great song called Hawk for the Dove. She and Jason Isbell also did a cover of the song I Follow Rivers and made it pretty country!

• Ain’t No Grave by anyone. I like the Johnny Cash version, but I also like Crooked Still. I think it works best with female vocals, I don’t know! It’s an OLD gospel-blues folk song.

• While we’re on the topic of old folk songs, House of the Rising Sun and all its covers. Gothic as bats. Wayfaring Stranger by Rhiannon Giddens is also fantastic.

• Graves by Whiskey Shivers. They call themselves a ‘trashgrass’ band and they’re based out of Texas. One of the best country bands out there in my opinion. Real dark material, sometimes, too.

• Magnolia Blues by Adia Victoria. Honestly, her entire discography fits that dark gothic country style. She’s one of the more talented artists I’ve heard in a while. You Was Born To Die is great too.

• Up The Devil’s Pay by the Old 97’s. This is an alt-country song by an alt-country band from Texas. They also have a song called Am I Too Late? which is a song about being in love with a corpse. I Don’t Wanna Die In This Town and I’m Good With God is a great contender for this list too.

• Bury Me In Georgia by Kane Brown. Some people miiight categorize this as bro country. I disagree, but it’s definitely more in line with what you’ll hear on the radio. Kane Brown is from Tennessee and he honestly kicks the hell out of any song he’s in.

• Alabama by Bishop Gunn. I think they’re from Natchez, Mississippi. More death, more problems, more religion, more rotting in the South.

I hope this is helpful! It’s mostly modern stuff, but if you want older, I have that too.

1. Are you named after anyone?

No, but my parents had an interesting way of naming my sister and me. If we were boys my mom got to name is, girls and my dad got to name us.

2. When was the last time you cried?

A couple days ago, I think. I cry a lot. 😅

3. Do you have kids?

Only of the animal variety! I actually got surgically sterilized last year because I am very happy in my role as aunt and cat mom. 💖

4. What sports do you play/ have you played?

If knitting were a professional sport I'd be an Olympian.

5. Do you use sarcasm?

Alllllll the timeeeee.

6. What's the first thing you notice about people?

How nice they are. Not in the way that they might be mean, but that they might be too nice. If someone's too nice I don't trust them.

7. What's your eye colour?

Green!

8. Scary movies or happy endings?

Always a happy ending! I actually can't tolerate scary movies at all.

9. Any talents?

I'm a very good knitter! And I think I'm an alright crocheter, but that's a much newer endeavor for me.

10. Where were you born?

Oregon, USA, born and bred!

11. What are your hobbies?

Knitting, crocheting, and a little bit of writing!

12. Do you have any pets?

I have two kitty cats! A ginger tabby boy named Theo and a secret calico (she looks like a tortie, but she's got a white bikini on her tummy, a white chin, and white ankle socks) girl named Arya.

5' 6" (and a half 😂)

14. Favourite subject in school?

Always the STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) classes! Though I'm also a MAJOR supporter of adding the arts in that abbreviation to make it STEAM, because nurturing the arts is incredibly important for societal and personal progression and development.

15. Dream job?

To retire and volunteer at OMSI (the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry). If you're ever in Portland, Oregon, you NEED to go to OMSI. It's the best.

OC introduction: Comet Yuusonya (Twisted Wonderland)

Basics

Comet Yuusonya (she/her) (sometimes Comet Morningstar depending on the AU and storyline we’re going with) is the protagonist of my main TWST AU. She gets isekai’d to Twisted Wonderland at the age of 16, and becomes Ramshackle’s Prefect. She’s in the same class as Ace.

Comet is asexual (& sex repulsed), as well as polyamorous. She can’t figure out what label works best for her sexuality, so she just uses heteroromantic since that’s as close as she can get.

Comet is around 5’1” (does not appreciate her height), a little underweight at around 95-100 lbs. Her best subject is astrology, but she generally excels at artistic and physical science classes. Any class that includes math in some way is not her forte.

She’s dedicated herself to both the Mountain Lovers Club and Gargoyle Studies Club, as well as eventually starting up her own club, being Dance. How did she get into several clubs? Threatened Crowley.

Hobbies, Talents, Preferences

Comet enjoys the arts. She’s a digital artist, typically sketching traditionally first—she also enjoys singing, dancing, theatre, making and listening to playlists, and writing, as well as cooking and baking. She’s also big into astrology AND astronomy, loving anything space-related. She’s also pretty good at interior design.

Her main talent, and the one she’s most renowned for, is her ability to psychoanalyze people. This talent of hers is what got her through the first few overblots with no magic. She’s also well known for spewing out the most insanely specific threats when she feels unsafe. She usually won’t go through with them, but… there’s been a few she has.

She enjoys helping people, like as a general concept. She also enjoys her art and baking. Her favourite foods are bean and cheese burritos and chicken tacos :). She does NOT enjoy large bodies of water (especially the ocean) and others being overbearing. She also absolutely hates it when others ignore what she’s saying, whether with good intention or not. Her least favourite food is anything pig meat, especially bacon.

Backstory

Comet comes from a rural town in Oregon, United States. She lives with her mom and her dad, and has an older sibling (they/them) who has moved out. She used to have two cats, one was her best friend, before they both passed from old age complications. Her family dog is still alive and well, though.

Comet had a rough childhood, but she doesn’t think of most of it was very traumatic, though. She is very autistic (and ADHD), so she went through quite a bit of bullying and alienation for being different than the other kids. Still, her parents loved and supported her as best they could.

On several DIFFERENT occasions, Comet has had… bad experiences with the ocean. At least twice, she’s almost gotten swept up at sea, and she once watched her dad nearly drown. Because of this, she has very intense thalassophobia.

She also had an incident regarding an ice cream truck that ended up with her about a state away, in a police station, waiting for her parents to come pick her up after biting the shit out of a guy. Because of this, Comet has a pretty big fear of men too.

The incident that sent Comet to Twisted Wonderland was… yet another experience with the ocean. She doesn’t remember exactly what happened, but she does remember walking with a friend before falling into a river.

Being sent to an all-boys school was… not helping Comet’s fear, so she disguised herself as a boy, going by the name Kuiper, and remained distant until the secret got out. She ended up feeling safe enough with a couple students that she opened up again and went back to being herself. This happened shortly after the events of book 3.

Unique Magic

She learned magic entirely from scratch after spending a damn while in Twisted Wonderland.

Her signature spell is… ironically enough, Gleam and Glow. This spell has two functions—either heal or hurt. If Comet sings her incantation in a major key, the spell heals, while if she sings it in a minor key, ir causes damage. It’s all based on intent, since a key can be either major or minor. The incantation is LITERALLY just the healing incantation from Tangled. Comet did not intend this.

Relationships

Riddle Rosehearts

Comet is terrified of him. Yelling is an emotional trigger to her, so his anger issues is a BIG problem for her. She avoids him whenever possible.

Trey Clover

They’re baking buddies! She considers him a Safe Guy.

Cater Diamond

She adopted him as her brother. He didn’t get a choice. She heard one (1) thing about his sisters and decided she was replacing them.

Ace Trappola

She’s stuck with him… and hasn’t been able to shake him since. She thought he was annoying at first, but he grew on her. He is Safe.

Deuce Spade

She’s liked Deuce since they met. She considers him Very Safe.

Leona Kingscholar

Comet is very unsure about him. She’s not a big fan of him, but she doesn’t think he’s unsafe or anything.

Ruggie Bucci

She’s neutral about Ruggie.

Jack Howl

He is Friend Shaped

Azul Ashengrotto

She did NOT like him when they first met, given he TOOK HER HOME FROM HER. But after his overblot, she realized they have a lot in common. She works at Mostro Lounge for an extra few madol occasionally. She may or may not be crushing.

Jade Leech

Much like Azul, she didn’t like him AT ALL when they met. She didn’t trust him in the slightest. However, as time went on, she ended up liking him quite a bit, even joining his club just to spend more time with him. By this point, they’re dating. He is Very Safe to her.

Floyd Leech

She didn’t like him at ALL… hated him and his stupid grin, even. She avoided this fucker like the plague… until after book 3. After her secret was out, she had a BAD day of not being very accepted by her peers. Floyd found her crying outside and they ended up talking. All of Comet’s opinions of Floyd did a whole 180 when he basically told her that the gender she presents as doesn’t matter to him—she’s just shrimpy. It meant a lot, given the day she had. They started dating a while after that. He is also Very Safe.

Kalim Al-Asim

He was one of the first people who found out her big secret. She’s always considered him a friend. Very Safe.

Jamil Viper

You have no idea how DISTRUSTFUL Comet was of Jamil. She was narrowing her eyes at him the entirety of book 4. When Kalim didn’t punch him, she DID. Anyway now she thinks he’s pretty

Vil Schoenheit

He has made her cry with his strictness on several occasions. She’s not sure if she likes or hates him.

Rook Hunt

BAD. AWFUL. UNSAFE. He needs to stay at least 50 feet from her at all times.

Epel Felmier

She thinks he’s annoying lowkey

Idia Shroud

They talk online sometimes.

Ortho Shroud

She loves him very much she thinks he is adorable and they have similar energies

Malleus Draconia

Safe!!! She doesn’t care that he’s a prince tbh she just thinks “this bitch autistic. good for him.” She calls him Lunie and they are very obviously romantically interested in each other. Mutual pining ftw

He keeps startling her. And keeps trying to adopt her. She’s fine with this tbh

Sebek Zigvolt

Its that time of year folks. We've all been hyped up for Nerdy Prudes Must Die, and whether you watched it live, via digital ticket, or not at all - we're now all waiting for its Youtube release.

Now considering Starkid have announced the release will likely be later this year or early next year, I figured now would be a good time to revisit our old friend - the offline watchalong, asychronous watch party, the retro rewind!

An “offline watchalong” is where a show/series is picked as the “show of the week” and everyone who wants to join in watches it at any point in the week they wish to. Then throughout the week as people watch the show, we can make posts, mini-fics (or longer fics if you’re a writing whiz!) and fanart (again for you talented folks) about that week’s show. Or literally just talk about it!

It doesn't matter if you're an old hat or have never seen a show before - all are welcome to join and watch whatever you like.

The schedule will be released gradually - to allow focus for the current themes, but also just in case we get any big surprise teasers [bloody hexagons] and need to pause the watchalong. However I've sorted a schedule that will currently take us to the beginning of October - in the hopes that any news might be then.
