Why the fuck does Laena Velaryon, who is canonically younger than Rhaenyra Targaryen in the show, look like a fucking 20-year-old in episode 5 while Rhaenyra, her elder, still looks fucking 13? Why the actual fuck did they change the YOUNGER girl’s actress and made her look older, but it’s okay for Rhaenyra to continue looking like a preteen? I’ll tell you why.
They’re trying to distract us from the fact that creepy ass Daemon is courting a 14-year-old. A FOURTEEN YEAR OLD. Rhaenyra is 15 in episode 1 and Laena is 12, meaning they have a 3 year age gap. Then, Viserys tells Rhaenyra that she must marry since she’s 17 now, making Laena 14, maybe 15 at best. So they obviously can’t afford having Daemon thirst over a child again, therefore this is a shitty attempt to cover up the fact that Laena still is a very fucking young child.
HBO what is this? Why do your casting choices indicate that you’re trying to use some kind of ageist technique to manipulate your viewers? Why are the supposedly good guys, Rhaenyra and her children, portrayed by very young actors? Is this to show how innocent and pure they are? Why are the characters who are supposedly evil, Aegon and Aemond, or the character for whom we shouldn’t worry too much about since she’s just a tool for Daemon’s story line to develop, Laena, portrayed by obviously older actors even though they’re all supposed to be kids? Because the youth = good people and old = bad people analogy is fucking gross and lowkey paedophilic. Not to mention how weird it is to make all the black girls in the show look like fucking grown ups. What kind of racist bullshit is this?
I can’t understand HBO’s decisionmaking for the love of me. Like, on the one hand, it’s so obvious that they’re forcing Daemon and Rhaenyra down our throats, to the point that I actually laughed out loud when the show runner said “he doesn’t get why people like Daemon”. Like, my guy, you MADE the show. You made him look like an appealing, dangerous, sexy, strong, victorious and mysterious man, so what do you mean you don’t get the appeal? On the other hand though, most of the actions that they allow Daemon to perform are so horrifying that it makes it impossible for a sane person to stand beside him and defend him. Like, they try to sugarcoat that he’s an abusive piece of shit yeah, but they somehow don’t shy away from the fact that he’s terrible? Are they doing both of these things on purpose? Are they trying to challenge the viewer, to show us how abusers, despite being openly deranged, still have their way of dazzling their victims, the average person, and hypnotising them with their charm? Is Daemon doing to us (and by us I mean you Daemon stans, not me, stay safe though) what he’s doing to Rhaenyra and Laena? Are the show producers testing the average viewer’s intelligence and ability to recognise an abuser? Will there be a lesson to be learned?
I would like to hope so but I highly doubt it, because while one could support this theory by arguing that changing Laena’s actress is an attempt to mask Daemon’s degenerative nature a bit so that it isn’t completely obvious that he’s a bad man, someone else could counter this argument by saying that we’ve already seen Daemon groom a minor so this wouldn’t be something new. We’ve seen him do much more violent crimes actually, so why shy away from the fact he’s a groomer when we are already aware of this? Idk man, I really want to think that HBO is trying to make us see that Daemon is an evil person, but then indirectly glorifying him constantly makes me believe they just want people to root for him.
P.S. I may anger a lot of people by saying this, so I’ll make myself clear by stating that I love and greatly respect actors who specialise in portraying evil characters, because doing so and not losing yourself is a challenge (*cough* Leto *cough*) but if done correctly, it’s a true showcase of one’s talent and hard work. Lee, De Niro, Hopkins, Bardem and Rickman are just a few to name. However, Matt Smith has never rubbed me the right way. No hate to the guy, I don’t even know him, but I’ve seen him play the villain in three separate occasions (HOTD, Last Night in Soho, Morbius) and I just get these weird vibes, but I usually told myself it’s just my imagination running wild. However, I recently found out that Smith claimed that Daemon is a loyal man who loves deeply and that his “heir for a day” brothel feast was his way of honouring Aema, which really disturbed me for obvious reasons. I don’t know if he said this because he’s trying to defend his character and by extension himself, or if he just wants to promote the show, or if he doesn’t understand Daemon or if he funnily enough has fallen victim to his own character’s charm and I don’t care because it is a dangerous thing to say. Painting this character, the arrogant, obnoxious, self serving, people slaughtering, wife murdering, backstabbing, abusing, grooming, lying, manipulating, war criminal of a man, in such a positive light while being a man yourself, knowing that most of this character’s supporters are young impressionable women who just find him hot, makes me lowkey wanna cover my drink in his presence, I don’t know.

Very Important and Very Scientific Kinnporsche Driving Skills Research
As you all know, my number one priority during this rewatch was to answer the burning question that I’m sure we all have on our minds: which of these bitches can drive? Below are the results of that research, and also my own personal opinions regarding driving skills and abilities.
Characters who have canonical driving evidence
Kinn (seen driving in eps 5 and 12)
Vegas (seen driving a motorcycle in multiple eps)
Kim (seen driving in ep 13)
Porsche (seen driving a motorcycle in multiple eps)
Big ( seen driving a motorcycle in ep 5)
Ken (seen driving a motorcycle in ep 5)
Chan (presumably drove in ep 12 to bring Korn to Porsche’s house)
Arm (seen driving in ep 3)
Pete (seen driving in ep 5 and seen behind the wheel in ep 6)
Characters with no canonical driving ability evidence
Tankhun
Chay
Pol
Characters who I believe can drive (regardless of canonical evidence), ranked from best to worst
Chan: Shocking no one, I think there are very few things that Daddy Chan can’t do, and do well. He taught the main family boys how to drive, to varying degrees of success
Kim: You think that little control freak is willing to let anyone else drive him around? He took supplementary driving lessons and everything, just because he’s extra like that. Chay thinks he looks incredibly sexy behind the wheel, which is even more of a reason for him to drive as much as possible
Vegas: Vegas has never met a petty skill that he doesn’t have to beat Kinn at. He drives a little recklessly but he has the skills to handle it and I think that’s very sexy of him
Arm: Arm is a very middle of the road driver. He’s not the guy you wanna have behind the wheel if you need to do evasive manoeuvres or fancy tricks, but he’ll get you where you wanna go and really, who could ask for more? If he was my Uber driver I’d give him five stars (and maybe my number idk)
Pete: Pete is an okay driver, but he absolutely hates doing it. Once he leaves the main family you will not catch him behind the wheel of a car, that’s what he has Vegas for
Kinn: Sure, Kinn can drive, but should he? Probably not. He can count on one hand the number of times he’s had to drive himself since he took the road test, and it shows
Big: As with Kinn, being ABLE to drive doesn’t mean he SHOULD drive. His road rage is legendary, and very few people are comfortable being in the car when he is behind the wheel
Characters I believe can’t drive, regardless of canonical evidence
Porsche: Porsche is on this list because while he can handle a motorcycle like a dream, if you try to make him drive a car he will have a panic attack. It’s a combination of Trauma™️ and just a lack of opportunity to drive a car. When he has to be in a car, it’s best that he remains a passenger princess
Chay: When would he ever have the opportunity to learn? Porsche may have offered to teach him to ride his motorcycle, but why bother when he has his Hia to drive him wherever he needs to go
Pol: Personally I think he just never got his license before becoming a bodyguard, and mysteriously avoids having to get one whenever it’s brought up during his evaluations. It’s fine though, that’s what Arm and (pre-coup) Pete are for
Tankhun: Tankhun took his road test at the insistence of his father and then immediately purged all knowledge of how to drive from his brain. Gorgeous gorgeous girls should NEVER have to operate a motor vehicle
Characters who I believe technically can drive, but aren’t allowed to
Ken: Worse road rage than Big, he is only allowed to ride a motorcycle and even then only in extreme circumstances. He is the type to follow you to your destination and beat your ass if you piss him off in traffic
Macau: He got his license and promptly had it confiscated by Vegas within a week. Macau has never met a reckless driving stunt that he didn’t immediately want to try out himself. He thinks speed limits are a gentle suggestion and he isn’t interested in hearing them

I had a thought last night, and even though the only canon bat source I've had is WFA, and I've only *just* started getting into fanfic, so characterizations may not be accurate/have been done before, but IDK. I need this to exist out there.
Timothy Drake-Wayne writes fics sometimes.
It started off with the necessity of creating so many fake IDs. One thing led to another and Tim was coming up with backstories for all the Johns, Marys, and Joes that he invented while doing his Gotham digital surveillance. After all, he was trying to make these people's fake IDs look as real as possible, which meant more than just a name on a couple of sheets of paper.
It means creating a fake digital footprint. For each one.
So, on the rare occasions when things are calmer, and he's not immediately needed, he sits on his computer and types out head cannons for each of the OCs he has created. He spends a lot of time doing research on different cultures, neurodivergencies, physical abilities, and backgrounds to try and 1) paint accurate pictures and 2) learn. He hides the world building tidbits in a secret folder that he's taken so many measures to hide from Oracle (she already knows, but she doesn't actively look after finally figuring out what the folder of names, complete with physical descriptions, life stories, and preferences is out of respect for Timothy). (Also, all this writing knowledge actually comes in handy for crime-solving things, but he doesn't fully realize it at the time).
Tim even went as far as to make social media accounts for some of his favorites and posts bits and pieces of the head cannons to make them, again, seem like real people. Just in case. As a precaution. You never know.
Jason finds out somehow, in a freak accident and collision of siblings that so often happens. Tim is sweating bullets, trying to steel himself for the endless teasing. He is fully prepared to delete every single file that's in that folder and deny that it ever exists for all eternity.
Except Jason doesn't. Jason's too much of a literary nerd (granted, he prefers more classic literature than social media fics, but this is another thing he can connect with his little brother on- he's *excited*) to tease Tim about the writing. He kind of persuades Tim to take more time for his hobby because Tim has some markings of talent in his very specific creative niche. Tim may have also convinced Jason to try it exactly once, to create a fake Twitter profile for Mr. Darcy and create shitposts from his point of view. He has a great time with it once, and then he moves on (but sometimes he creates other accounts for other characters that Tim doesn't know about).
They make a pact between the two of them not to tell the others; they'd ask too many questions and make it less fun.
But every once in a while, Tim would walk into Jason's place to crash for a bit, steal all of his Red Bull, update Jason on his writing projects, and get writing advice.

Any opinion on a character that focuses too much on approval/disapproval, I tend to dismiss. You know, unless it leads them to conclusions that I think are right for other reasons that they just didn't explore. Or, I would feel that way if I'd seen that, but I haven't.
If you're whole theory of the character is based off the approval system and doesn't take their actual story into account, you tend to be wrong.
Partly, this is because it's tricky to confidently know why a character reacts the way they do, though that's a fun exercise on its own. Every once in a while I'll read an explanation that completely nails it, but for every one fandom theory written by someone who actually sounds like they get the characters, I read about twenty from people who sound like they are maybe 12 hours into the game, or even familiar with the characters purely from marketing material they saw on Facebook.
Like, I do think speculating about certain moments of approval/disapproval is fun, and also, totally inevitable, but I only consider it on a case by case basis and not when it's extrapolated into something immutable.
IE - I think it's interesting that when you find Halsin in the bear cage you can throw rocks at him with the Goblin children and a) no one disapproves of this, including our animal lovers and our Halsin saviours and b) Astarion approves.
A bad example of analysing this would be "well b) Astarion is just evil and I guess a) the other characters think the bear is in jail for good reason" or more likely "idk a) it's not that deep unless its Astarion then its b) definitive proof he's irredeemable"
So,
a) I think they each have their own individual reasons for tolerating it, and its first important to note that at this point, none of them know the consequences of you doing this, because if they did, you'd see some disapproval for sure: Shadowheart appreciates subterfuge and commitment to it, so even though she doesn't like to see animals get hurt, she doesn't react and also has a high tolerance for situations in which a group mentality forces you to do something cruel. She has to. Karlach wants to give you the benefit of the doubt, so she probably tells herself that it was just a mistake. If you'd known what would happen, you never would have done it, maybe you thought a little extra pain and rage would motivate the bear, she knows something about that.
Wyll I legitimately think that when surrounded by Goblins, Wyll's ability to power through unpleasant situations and his rage goes way way up, and empathy consequently goes way down. He only ever gets nasty when it has to do with them. He's too focused on his enemies to consider much else.
Gale may love animals, canonically, but like I remember one time I was talking with someone who told this story about having to shoot a feral dog on his property when it went after his chickens, and this guy was clearly traumatised that he had to do this, but our clueless acquaintance just dismissively said "well you did what you had to" and proceeded to kind of invalidate the conflicted feelings our buddy was having about it. Gale is somehow both of them. I don't think he'd throw the rocks, unless forced. I think he'd be upset at having to hurt an animal under any circumstances. But I don't think he'd feel much if someone else did it. Bears are capable predators, bears can handle a few rocks.
Lae'zel doesn't disapprove because violence, pain, cruelty on its face aren't offensive to her, and she doesn't have a particular love for animals. Alternatively, I also think it makes sense she doesn't approve either because although she does approve of some acts of cruelty, I think she prefers when there's a discernible purpose to it, or something impressive about it. and
b) Astarion approves because he begins the game in the paradigm that acts of cruelty are how you gain and demonstrate power, and that being kind gets you punished. You can either prove him right or prove him wrong through your choices in the game, but I don't think it's an accident that these moments become less and less frequently as you progress the story, regardless of the path you choose. You can challenge Astarion, and even shift that paradigm for him. Takes time though, and at least when you first meet him, he's very comfortable with you being a bastard because it affirms that paradigm and the dynamic that he's used to. It's notable then, that on the flip side, he's vocally uncomfortable with you being kind, but his approval still steadily climbs if you keep him in your party and don't treat him poorly, even if you are kind to everyone you can possibly be kind to, and you always have him with you, his approval still climbs at a regular rate. Basically, I think its reductive to say that he's just entertained by violence and cruelty. Like, yeah, one point awarded for noticing that about him---he absolutely is evil aligned, gold star. Why's that? Why does he approve of cruelty? And what does it say that as he finally spends the first weeks of his life able to make his own choices, he seems less and less inclined to approve of the cruel acts that you commit? There's loads of these moments in act one, less in act two, and in act three you have to go hunting for them and mainly find them in big story events that you will only find when you are RPing evil.
I think it supports the theory that he's got a kind of mechanically enabled redemption arc, but it doesn't prove it. The game is meant to embody 15K different realities and AUs, they had to make it so that the character would have different version of themselves for you to interact with, depending on your choices.
And I guess that makes the emphasis on NPC choices that much more interesting to me. Removed from Cazador, Astarion's arc naturally bends away from cruelty, unless you act as his new master which you are totally permitted to do.

Hi costume anon here!
How dare you so accurately call out my daddy issues and socially awkward arse 😖 (/j)! I would make a terrible Fire Lord but it’s good to know all those years of projection paid off, though now I’m head canoning Zuko as autistic (what have you done to me is this revenge?)
I personally want a Bloodborne tattoo oneday ngl though the outsiders mark is cool as fuck
I love your brain you have changed my view on the logistics (?) of how it would all go down!
Just imagine Ghost returning to systematically tear apart and destroy Dunwall like it was the Zaragoza cartel after he escapes to Karnaca and his family ended up paying the price for his “Treason”.
He becomes “the Outsiders Ghost” fully devoted to and for him people start whispering about what happened in Dunwall about how a dead man got revenge and how Rats and whale song swallowed an entire nation. Never anger the Outsiders lest his Ghost starts haunting you. (I love Spooky shit.)
Oh no! I made my friend rewatch DP That’s rough buddy (I regret nothing)
Speaking of DP, Gaz is a walking wifi modem and Soap is a portable power bank for his devices 😂 they stick to Ghost like glue on hot days you can not change my mind. The 141 would have the most terrifying reputation even though they’re all idiots.
Soap %100 has caused a black out and Gaz “accidentally” locked a general he didn’t like out of his house after he made Laswell and price mad.
Do you think Ghost would have to deal with the actual ghosts of soldiers would Soap and Gaz pick up on them too?
I can’t remember who said it but they head canoned Soap as lightning and ghost as rain and it changed something in my brain chemistry, good apart awe inspiring together (They were so right) and now I can’t get Sparky boom boom man out of my head I may need to rewatch atla.
Have a great day while I go off and try to regain my lost honour!
Hiiiiii Costume Anon! Thank you for gracing us with your presence!
Autistic!Zuko headcanon drop when friend? I wanna hear all his lil quirks and habits.
Thinking of FromSoft games, I've been thinking about an Ellen Ring AU. Idk if people would want it, but I just keep thinking about it. Ghost as the Tarnished, Soap as Ranni, Gaz as Melina. And it'd loosely follow my own playthrough of the games. Outside of Elden Ring, Bloodborn is my favorite of their games. It's so gooooodddd.
Even long after a believable lifespan has passed, rumors of The Outsider's Ghost doing his bidding circulate. Some believe it's an actual Ghost, others say he's The Outsider's lover that was granted eternity to be by his side. Either way, The Outsider and his Ghost are only mentioned in hushed whispers for fear of invoking their wrath.
DP AU, the 141 has a reputation for shit going sideways for their enemies before they're even on the base. Terrorists start resorting to defenses that don't rely on power or the internet because they see how effectively the 141 shuts that shit down. It doesn't help, their guerilla tactics don't effect Ghost. The team absolutely deals with the ghosts of fallen soldiers, but not as often as you'd think. They tend to stay where they died, or cross over, or go back to their families. Some though, will use their newfound deadness to be menaces, and those are the ones our boys deal with. Think Skulker or the Box Ghost, those types of problematic guys.
Duuuuude Sparky Boom Boom Man had such a cool bending ability. Personally I'd want to be a water bender, but fire bending is still the coolest form.
Good luck with your honor my (non gendered) Prince! Thanks again for humoring me 😁

Ok first of all. Its my dnd au and i make the rules and i think it would be cool if rhaenyra is a trans woman. Obviously this does not work at all with the actual world asoiaf/f&b, but i do what i want. This would create different issues of inheritance (i think??) but ultimately she would be the heir, and she and alicent could get married <3 . Now her actual dnd lore; i think that she would be far more of a warrior if given the opportunity (i also think this about the canon world, but idk if that's due to hotd or what), so i decided on drakewarden ranger.
I definitely knew i wanted to do something with dragons for rhaenyra, (moreso than i have for other targs) so i spent a while thinking about which classes are closest to dragons in the f&b sense. Draconic ancestry sorcerer was a possibility, but i've already done sorcerer for dany, and i want variety. Fizban's treasury of dragons is really cool, and i considered making rhae a dragonborn (since i feel like i've been playing it really safe in terms of the fantasy races i've used so far) but i think that the dragon differences between dnd and asoiaf make it weird to have someone in your family who fucked their dragon. Also drakewarden is cool. Ranger is a fun class if its played right, and its combined options for ranged/martial/ and a little spellcasting makes it great for the role that the heir to the throne would play on the battlefield. I  think her favoured enemy is also dragons, since both her enemies and allies having dragons means that she would have had to learn about them. Since i am designing her at about 10th level, she gets another faovured enemy, which could be either beasts (if we lean more into asoiaf's low fantasy worldbuilding) or aberrations (lets get weird). Im leaning toward aberrations due to how i am as a person
For her race i did do half-elf (boring i know, bite me) but with the gift of the chromatic dragon feat, she would be able to take give herself resistance to elemental damage, and drakewarden gives her the ability to do a breath weapon attack (like how dragons breathe fire or acid or whatever). I thought about elemental adept as her other feat, but i also gave that to dany, and im avoiding repetition. The aberrant dragonmark feat gives access to a sorcerer cantrip and 1-level spell, i chose booming blade and chaos bolt, as well as a flaw associated with the dragon mark, i think she gets horrific nightmares after using the mark.
Now for the usual last details, i think her stats go (highest to lowest) dexterity > charisma > strength > intelligence > constitution > wisdom. A healthy balance between mental and physical stats i think! Though i may have nerfed her spellcasting by putting wisdom as low as i did. Oops. For her fighting style, dueling makes sense for how an heir would be taught to fight.
Ok as per usual , if u read all this im in love with you and you can summon me in one (1) online argument to back you up.

Sorry if this ask is too dumb ,but
Does ink consider himself as a father of Pallete or PJ ( if they exist in this universe) ?
I know that he is chaotic neutral , but who knows
He cares for his ,,adoptive dads ,,in canon so idk
Nothing wrong here! <3 Thank you for this interesting question╰(*´︶`*)╯
I don't think that Ink may be considered a good father in the first place (let's be honest: he's terrible, he's SO far from these things);
Though he knows for sure that he has lots of "offsprings" — and may be like "so cool! im glad that the creators are so creative <3"
He's the one who comes, "inspires" you and leaves, and you're the one who carry the child creation and give it birth alone. "Father" is unlikely to ever come, pardonne-moi XD
Another good example is 7goodangel's version of Ink aka #40257, who "takes care" of Paper Jam, though he seems to be more interested in PJ's creative abilities than his personality.
(A wonderful demo with these two by 0mochi0 was released btw, only in Russian so far but worth checking *^*)
Ink does have good relationship (if this may be called like that) with his adoptive fathers, but I'm afraid it's still far what a family should be. He's more like "im so happy for my two dads loving each other and living together! sometimes we hand out together. yuppy :D"
If Ink's "dads" should die by plot, they will. If his "kids" should suffer in their stories, they will. If Ink is the main reason of those things, he will be. The only choice he has is to drink the blue vial or not.
P. S. Speaking of different versions of Ink, can't help but mention anfie's one! On a lighter note <3

You're probably getting bombarded with asks right now so sorry to add to the clutter - but I am a huge rock nerd - that goes beyond like Steven Universe and Houseki no Kuni. So I just want to share some stones and stuff that have cool properties and maybe could provide some inspiration (mainly tho so I can list off rock facts)
Mercury: Mohs 3.5, Toughness: Brittle - Malleable. Technically Mercury is always found in it's liquid form unless amalgamated with other elements, etc. But Mercury actually can be solidified, creating a "rock" with a 3.5 Mohs scale. What's interesting about this is that this solid Mercury produces an awful echo-screeching sound when bent. Idk how this would apply for a SU One Piece Character, but having the abilities to liquify, solidify, as well as being a very heavy metal which corrodes or amalgamates with many other rocks, a character like this would be a difficult opponent, or a powerful ally.
Calsilica: This ones funny because it's not a natural gem, and has an extensive history of people trying to claim that it is. Rather, Calsilica can be made from the run off byproducts in plastic, epoxy, wax, etc, condensed so hard it becomes a rock. I've had character ideas of this kind being a gem who either feels like they're lesser for being man-made, or even having imposter syndrome.
Painite: Mohs 7.5-8, tough. An incredibly rare, red-orange gem, which though is a lesser "hardness" then diamond, could easily break or shatter one.
That's another interesting thing about diamonds that was less included in the show, but they are very brittle - while sapphires, rubies, jade may be of a lesser Mohs scale, they could easily crush a diamond. Especially Jade. Jade may be one of the toughest, naturally occurring gemstones out there (hence why there are so many carvings made out of it) and can even be stronger than steal, also with no known cleavage point (point where the gemstone easily fractures most) it's a kind durable to both blunt and pin-point force.
Rutile: Rutile itself can be pretty thin and weak, but they usually occur inside of other gemstones, as needle-like fractals and growths. Their possibilities are endless and they're gorgeous. Hundreds of gem kinds can be "rutilated".
Carbyne: The. Strongest. Material. Known to man. Taking Graphenes place. I have OC's made of this, but the possibilities for character development are endless. Because, technically, only a 100 atoms of carbyne exist. They have to be contained by a graphene tube in order to stay in existence. These could be extremely powerful characters, but say their outer coating of graphene is gone? They'll vaporize. Carbyne, Graphene, and Buckminsterfullerene are all in the carbon family along with diamonds, and so modern experimentation has led to their creations, and thus, gemstones both harder and tougher than any diamond.
Though, having said all that stuff about diamonds, there is one kind that is incredibly difficult to shatter and that is Bort or Bortz. It's technically a term for any diamond that isn't jewel-grade, or natural diamond, used for cutting tools and abrasives, but as a gemstone, it would be the top tier of diamonds. Their crystal structure is smaller than a normal diamond and so blows or damage are spread out evenly through the material, rather than a regular diamond which will often take force over one point of cleavage and completely shatter.
Ok I will be quiet now I've literally been typing this for more than an hour - I just love gem Au's and your designs especially. Idk if you've heard of Houseki no Kuni but it's basically a manga/show where the characters are completely made out of the gemstones, unlike being manifestations of light in Steven Universe. I'm working on a fic/head canon au of HNK One Piece characters (once again because I'm a rock nerd)
Good lord. That's a lot of rock facts.
I def will be using this information in the future so I'm posting this as future reference/ getting this long thing outta my inbox/ showing everyone else these rock facts
Thanks for the ask and tips!

No, I do not see Ed that way at all. In fact I believe so hard in an uneducated Ed to subvert that very thought. My believing he's illiterate is based entirely on what is shown in canon (including his mother's thoughts on their lot in life) and my own knowledge of that period in history and how common illiteracy was. I also just love the idea of this poor, uneducated, abused brown boy growing up to become the most feared pirate in the world without any help. He doesn't need Izzy. He doesn't need Stede (as much as he wants him). He don't need no education, to quote Pink Floyd. He's still Blackbeard and he made himself what he is, ability to read or not.
I get the issue and I hate the way the person brought it up in that comment with a burning passion. But in my opinion canon does not disprove the possibility of him being uneducated. We can happily disagree on that point though.
anon, can I ask you a question? Why is it so important to you to defend that headcanon to me?
I never addressed you personally - that is, we don't have this conversation because I criticized anything you wrote or made. I have no way of knowing if you explored this in any kind of fanwork, and if so, to what aim. If you feel like you're not part of the pattern I criticized, then I wasn't talking to you. Why is your attachment to that headcanon so strong that someone criticizing a general tendency in fandom makes you feel personally attacked?
You can argue until the cows come home that actually, thinking Ed lacks basic life-skills* just proves his strength and resilience (which, yk. Is not as good an argument as you may think it is). Or that it's a disability headcanon and that makes it fine. Or it's all in the name of historical accuracy. Or whatever. Like, I agree with your basic interpretation of him, and idk how often you want to hear that I believe you when you say you're not ill-intentioned.
That still doesn't erase the fact that it's part of a larger pattern of racist interpretations of ofmd, and that there is no real proof in canon either way**.
idk what to tell you. If it's fundamental to your worldview that Ed is illiterate, go on believing that, I won't stop you. But I also won't stop thinking that it's telling so many people accept this without question, because it is.
*before you take offense: literacy definitely is a basic life skill to us, the audience. And it would be a major handicap for a captain to be completely illiterate, too. I get your arguments about historical context and illiterate historical figures; but Ed isn't an actor, and his story is told in a modern context, to a modern audience. Things like historical accuracy or realism are pretty low on ofmd's list of priorities, anyway.
**Actually, scratch that, on his wanted poster, listed among his crimes, are improper citation, plagiarism, and tax evasion. All of which require literacy. There's your proof #confirmed

okay okay marik ishtar getting psychosexual in the club brain time. (Sorry in advance for the bigass text block. also if you are an ace/aro marik truther then A) I can see it but also B) this is very much not that. be forewarned.) I know things along these lines have been said before, but I truly cannot picture him being some kind of crazily sexually/romantically liberated flirt like you see a lot in fanon. Feel free to argue with me if you want in the reblogs or comments or whatever I am not sure about what I'm saying here. (+1500 words of Help Me under the readmore!)
He grew up underground, with no one else around but his abusive highly religious dad, personal manservant/extremely protective brother figure, and what seems to be the only even somewhat normal family relationship he has with his sister that's almost as isolated and frankly seems moderately socially awkward outside of telling mysterious prophecies. I do not think he was not getting Helpful and Informative Sex Ed, to say the least, and also if/when he started going through puberty he would have functionally nowhere to project those urges. Maybe he can get a crush on a particularly well-drawn wall carving or statue idk but the point is that he doesn't have any actual human reference for what the feelings mean other than his immediate family which is a uhhhhhh different and much more uncomfortable conversation!
Also, even when he and Rishid finally get out of there and start up the Ghouls, I don't think Rishid would bother with telling him about sex and romance as he gets older - if anything, he would be less likely to tell him, because if there's one thing Rishid would want to do as little as possible, it would be to allow more opportunities for Marik to act out in more "depraved" ways - I mean, come on, the guy already forces people to commit suicide, brainwashes them to fight in death matches, and do weird little dances in public for his entertainment (I know that one isn't as intimidating as the other ones, but I do think it's important to establish the sheer level of pettiness and self-indulgence he's at by this point.)
We've already established by this point that his ability to empathize and sympathize with other people is currently somewhere at the bottom of the Marianas trench, assuming he may not have had low empathy before then, which he might've judging by how he treats his siblings (diversity win! the arc villain has low-functioning empathy!), though that may also be due to being the "favorite" and getting what he wants all the time and not being raised to consider them real people on par with him and his father. But I digress. I do think Rishid would be at least considering the ways that those behaviors would intersect with teenage hormones, to say the least (plus the whole Yami Marik thing, which I'll discuss. Later.)
But by contrast, I don't think it makes sense to say Marik's completely innocent to the concept - he may be a very socially isolated 16 year old, but he's still like. a 16 year old. He regularly pries inside of peoples heads to manipulate them, and if you go by anime canon, he is definitely aware of very strong romantic feelings (and therefore possibly sexual ones, though maybe not? arkana ace king ig) in the form of arkana/pandora's little anime lost love scenario. Also, I think its fair to assume a Good Number of the Ghouls would possess sexual or romantic feelings as well. However. However. I am going to go out on a limb and say that learning about sex from people's personal fantasies is to sex ed what learning about how to cook from Hell's Kitchen is to chef college; everything you absorb is overdramatic, unrealistic, extremely emotionally charged, and often involves a surprising amount of violence and degradation for a day-to-day activity.
I'm going to say Marik then is Aware of sex, but doesn't fully "get" it. Like. It makes him uncomfortable to think about it for too long, and in general, it's just something Other People do. It's something he can use to get close to people (sign that says ASK ME ABOUT FEMME FATALE MARIK ISHTAR PROPAGANDA), but its not really something he fully accepts as something he would do just for the sake of it. He's aware of it, but it's still a moderately alien concept to him, at least that's how he would think about it.
Additionally, I don't think his vision of romantic love is going to be any better. In between societies massive effort to romanticize (ehehe) those specific feelings as the end-all-be-all of affection and the fact that, again, he didn't really grow up with anyone (and still really doesn't have another outlet) other than his dad and siblings as who he "loves" - I do think he loves his siblings, and, tragically enough, probably his father as well. (Thats something else people ignore a ton. We as The Audience do not like Peepaw Ishtar but Marik himself has NO clue what he did was wrong or bad or unforgivable. If anything Marik considers himself the problem for not being able to take it. But that's another convo. God I'm going all over the place today.) Anyways what I'm trying to say here is that Marik probably sees romantic love as something that's present and he should Want but doesn't quite fully understand the emotional implications of it or investment necessary to make it work. If anything he would know less about romance since while old Egyptian myths do mention sex and sexuality with fair regularity - albeit not with much that would help a clueless 12 year old that associates said myths with his imprisonment and doom - there is very little talk of True Love in there. The fact that his knowledge of marriage extends to "my mother died a horrible painful death in childbirth having me and my dad didn't really care" probably is not helping matters!
Also tying this all together is the fact that Marik seems to have a Fraught and Uneasy relationship with his own body, to say the least. Like. I'm just going to go out on a limb and say he seems to consider it just another damp, dark prison he's stuck in, one that has done nothing other than provide an easy way to hurt him and keeps him tied to the Tombkeeper legacy. And who wouldn't? The guy has a massive scar carved into his back permanently reminding him of how trapped he really. Additionally, that's another barrier to intimacy, since there's no way on Earth he's letting anyone touch his back without an INSANE amount of trust - I imagine even Rishid is somewhat suspect in allowing him to touch his back.
The only time he seems really happy is when he gets to extend his mind outside of himself, into other people's brains and giving him a sense of power in an otherwise very controlled life. So that's definitely one barrier there! How do you even begin trying to make your body feel good when all your body has felt like all your life is completely awful? Especially when it would involve letting another person have access to it in a very vulnerable state??? Nuh uh no way thank you sir but we're staying repressed forever and shoving any and all Perverse Urges into a box deep deep in our Mind Room and ignoring them until we die, which we never will because we're Special. This is to say nothing of the fact that one of his tombkeepers duties is theoretically to procreate and create a new generation of keepers which is. Wow. Another conversation entirely but for our purposes means that he already is not going to have a good relationship to that! (Bonus points if it turns out he's homosexual. I'm not saying he is gay, but layering the Problems with "not attracted to women" would be an interesting intersection.)
Anyways the cherry on top of this miserable sundae is the Existence of Yami Marik, the Good-Times Ruiner. Point number one: in between the weird sadomasochism thing he has going on and the fact that he seems significantly more physically and emotionally liberated than Marik, I think it would be fair to call him a moderately sexualized character, though not a straight-up succubus (yes I am aware the term for men is Incubus. quiet).
Point number two: Yami Marik is generally seen to represent Marik's repressed urges and grudges, so we can pretty easily make the assumption that Yami Marik being sexualized comes from an attempt to absolve Marik of such uncomfortable distractions. So there is the thought there that he considers his sexual urges on par with or at least related to his violent and vengeful ones.
Point number three: You would have thought that at least partially realizing this by the end of Battle City would result in Marik realizing he should stop repressing his emotions. But it won't! Because that's not how that Highly Functional Ishtar Brain works! It goes "I now associate sexuality with one of the worst and most publicly humiliating and traumatic times of my life, so I now consider it an Active Problem to get rid of instead of just a uncomfortable quirk of mine." So no actually I think he would be getting worse! Someone send him to a therapist please or at least figure out a way for him not to simultaneously hate himself while still hating everyone else More.
anyways tl;dr: Marik ishtar knows about an extremely warped version of sex but good lord he is repressing it fifteen feet underground. Again feel free to argue with me if you want I'd like to hear other opinions. Anyways hope yall have a nice day and thanks for reading thru all of that!

neuvillette with patches of scales. discuss.
HELLO YES. YES. IM SORRY I LET THIS SIT FOR A WHILE IVE BEEN GATHERING MY THOUGHTS ON IT !!
heads up, i havent caught up with the 4.1 story quests or anything just yet, so apologies if anything is inaccurate/against canon <3
im a big advocate for "give more genshin characters blatantly inhuman features" honestly, and obviously neuvillette is no exception
i imagine that, like with the adepti and youkai (in my version of teyvat anyways), most creatures with the power to take on a human form have the ability to pick what physical attributes will be masked and what will be visible/tangible, however the drawback is that the more 'human' they look, the more 'human' they will be (something about divine powers being stored in that which is divine/inhuman, idk)
Neuvillette likes to appear at least human-passing on a surface level, so he keeps his 'inhuman' features to a minimum. His antennae/horns/handles/what-have-you allow him to pick up insanely subtle vibrations in the air that give him a bit of a better insight into how those around him are feeling. It gives him an empath sort of vibe, though he doesn't always know exactly what to do with the information he's given.
I feel like he definitely does have scaly patches, though they're much more prominent underneath his clothing. They tend to cluster around his soft, vulnerable parts as an extra layer of defense just in case something bad were to happen to him (he's aware that his place as the Iudex and his loyalty to the letter of the law causes a lot of people to hate him).
The ones on his back are a deep blue, almost black if it's dark enough, and his front ones are a very very very light blue with an iridescent sheen (like how sharks have light patches on their bellies so they blend in to prey from above). his 'stomach' scales tend to be larger, softer and rounder than his back ones.
I think there's a smattering of scales on the front of his neck that you can just see above his high collar if he cranes his neck enough - there's also scales on his wrists, chest, lower stomach, armpits, inner elbows and knees.
in addition to this, i imagine him having big, platelike scales all down his spine that almost overlap each other. im thinking potentially a snake's vertebral scales, but im also rather fond of how crocodile scales look. Sometimes these can cause a bit of grief for him, as they're fairly tough, thick scales and if he has a long day of sitting up straight while appearing in court, the added pressure can cause his back to ache quite badly.
If he were to take on a more 'monsterlike' form (like if he were threatened and immediately needed more access to his powers without fully transforming), this patch would sort of expand out into a big line of spines and fins (a little like what is pictured below, but bluer and bigger)
Tumblr media
Accompanying the scales in his humanoid form, i imagine he has some vitiligo-like patches of lighter skin that are almost imperceptible unless you're really close thanks to his pale complexion. They tend to group towards his shoulders, back, stomach and legs. HOWEVER he also has bunches of them that are so small theyre almost like inverted freckles! (these are on his cheeks, arms, hands, across his collarbone, etc)
some of them may light up (like his horn thingies do!) when he's having trouble managing his emotions (usually anger, but they may also glow when he's really really happy! i like to think that intelligent water-dwelling creatures such as him have nonverbal ways of communicating underwater). On top of that, they also glow under blacklights!
Anyways, this got a fair bit longer than intended and is a little all over the place - thank you to anybody who took the time to read this, and thanks Arden for sending in the ask, it was a delight to infodump about! :D
Please don't repost, steal, copy or otherwise plagiarise my writing! I do not consent for my works to be translated and posted elsewhere, or copy - pasted into bot or AI technology.

Meta Question - What would have happened if the Sun Summoner was one of Baghra's kids too? Would she have controlled her? How would Aleksander react?
I just think there aren't far too many junctures where that could happen. Like I straight up can't see Baghra having any kids after the Shadow Fold exists. My reading of the canon timeline might be wrong, it's been ages since I read Language of Thorns, and I didn't like love it enough to reread lol but my understanding is that she only had other kids before Aleksander. So I could only really see an unknown older sister sun summoner. In which case she's probably off living somewhere reclusively and not keeping in contact, and therefore probably not actively under Baghra's thumb. Meanwhile I doubt Aleksander was like actively fucking insane and evil by that point. So if unaccounted for sister is like "hi I can help" then I think he'd... maybe *gasp* be normal enough about the prospect of a sun summoner at least. But also probably take it as carte blanche to continue fucking with his mostly unexplained mad science merzost experiments bc there's someone to clean it up. If-- imo more likely outcome-- sun summoner sister says nothing, or idk shows up and they later fall out, I think he'd probably still be on the look out for someone to fill that void who isn't older than him. Something vaguely posited by TGT and then made more explicit in KoS with the confirmation of other long lived Grisha/Saints that Aleksander has met, is that his obsession with Alina as Thee Sun Summoner isn't really one born of like zero other options. It's not just that he wants an immortal companion, he wants a companion he's groomed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And similarly in this scenario, I don't think he'd be happy with relying on anyone older and with their own agency. He'd still want to find someone with a sun summoning ability who he can control fully. Edit: Okay the sister in Language of Thorns is younger lol so there goes my theory about him being the youngest. I do still think that Baghra just isn't having kids post Shadow Fold (I feel like that's probably around the point where whatever is the status quo arrangement at the capital and Aleksander installing himself as The Darkling takes place. So like, whenever that happens and she's more involved with his political schemes to the point where she seems to lose all faith in him and also get depressed and get old and sit in a cottage and do nothing, I just do not think she is having kids! So the hypothetical unknown sister may be older to possibly pre shadow fold days younger, but still functionally an immortal. I generally stand by the rest of those thoughts though!

Abigail Headcanons
I had wrote some of these for my old blog but forgot to save them so i forgot what i wrote and now I have to start over haha
Tw: cursing, brief sexual mention, cheating(not abby), some canon info may be wrong lmao
Is between 5'4-5'8
Mostly because she does give off tall goth mommy vibes but also gives off short angry troll vibes(I'm 4'11 I'm allowed to say this)
I think she's like 22-24
It's stayed at some point that she takes online college classes right? Or am i insane?
I do 100% think she's the wizards daughter I mean it does line up and if she's not then wtf
It's more than just the hair
But even then like isn't it said that she only dyed it ONCE and the color just never went away?
Like I feel like its one of those things where she had to activate the trait for it to show up
Like Idk if you've seen Barbie in a (and a?) Mermaid Tale but like
Barbie(her name isn't barbie but i cant remember what it is) doesn't show any mermaid traits at all until shes a certain age then she does things to trigger it(like going in the water and being able to breathe or her hair turning pink.)
Or traits that have been there already now making sense(her being obsessed with the water and surfing)
For Abigail, she just needed to dye her hair that specific color in order for it to stay in that state
And she has other abilities like being able to see the Junimos when literally no one else but the farmer and the wizard can.
And her love of adventure and the unknown
And i think she is a witchy girl along with Emily
Also the fact that Caroline hung out near the wizards tower then got pregnant with Abby
I think she still hangs out there sometimes or maybe its a mod or maybe I'm delusional(this one is a fact)
N e ways i've gone on too long about this
I think she would study for something like archaeology or something or like game development.
Does play video games as much as she can
Does rage quit
Gets angry when she dies
Though its canon that Abby and Seb would end up together if not with the farmer(I think?)
Highkey a toxic gamer but her outbursts are funny so it's allowed
I think she likes games like Undertale, the Sonic games, Mario, hates Valorant with a passion but still plays even though it only makes her angry
I feel like her feelings for him are shallow
Not in a bad way
But in a theres no one else for me to realistically end up with or crush on type thing
Like unless she's going to date one of the girls(I think Pierre is homophobic) Seb is her only choice
I do sorta ship her with Haley tho (goth gf x pink gf)
Does wish to be in the adventurers guilde but i also think she would be terrified
Also realistically I feel like she knows it wouldn't work out for long. Though she does sometimes go in the upper(lower?) levels of the mines.
100 percent prefers her mom to her dad
I think if she ever found out about the wizard possibly being her father it would make her be the most torn she has ever been
Because on one hand she does love pierre hes the man that raised her and I dont think she would accept cheating AT ALL and it would hurt her to know hes not her biological father
But on the other hand she would find it cool that theres a reason for her weirdness
Like theres a reason she can see the weird creatures in the forest when no one else can(to her knowledge)
Theres a reason for her longing to venture out and explore the unknown
And the wizard is pretty freaking cool seeing as she hangs out next to his tower often
Either showers everyday or once every 3 days there's no in between
Probably does want to travel at some point, maybe when she has her own money to spend.
If pierre wanted her to take over his store when he gets too old she would refuse
Is sorta sad she doesn't have any siblings, but at the same is glad because she only has to worry about herself
Learned to play the drums as a way to let out her anger
Has an okay voice when singing, but doesn't know how to properly hit notes without fucking up her voice

TRUST/ snf ; himfri
・❥・oneshot . fluff . maybe light angst at the end-?? idk . basically frieren understanding 'emotions' a little earlier than she does in canon . idk i feel like i've just keyboard smashed everything . will reading this even make sense? . i think i've also fcked up the tense . indistinct timeskip at the end
༶•┈┈┈┈┈┈୨♡୧┈┈┈┈┈•༶
The night seems long, and never-ending. Frieren feels a dull ache seep into her bones but she pushes through her fatigue; her friends are relying on her to finish this agonizingly slow battle once and for all.
Staff ready in hand she delivers the final blow on behalf of her companions and watches as the demon writhes and fades away into ashes, and then is lost to the cold winds of the North.
She looks back to see Heiter tending to Eisen, makes eye contact with him, coming to a silent agreement they both nod, and then she goes after Himmel who fares better than Eisen but is not unharmed.
"Why must you be so reckless?" she mutters annoyed as she rubs away the dried blood from his face with one of her discarded handkerchiefs. Himmel does nothing but give her his lopsided smile, staring at her with a knowing look having an inscrutable intensity that leaves Frieren feeling as if she doesn't understand something that has been bared right in front of her.
"Why, I'm assured. After all, Frieren will always have my back, right?"
"Why do you trust me so much? With your life?" She gives him a tube of ointment once she is done cleaning his shallow wounds but Himmel only shakes his head and pushes her outstretched hand back. She's surprised to find that she realises what Himmel means by that; he wants her to put it.
Maybe it is the result of spending every waking moment in his company but time isn't of essence to Frieren; she has way too much in her hands after all.
But it seems as if even this inconsequential time she has spent with Himmel and his party has taught her their wills. Now that she thinks about it, how did she understand what Heiter had conveyed to her even without words? How did she know Himmel wanted her help to put the ointment even though he never spoke a thing, just pushed her hand away?
She should have been confused, whether Himmel wanted to put the ointment or not, and then he would've told her, with words rather than his gaze, what he wanted her to do.
But neither Himmel nor Heiter had to say anything. She just understood what either meant and followed along.
How?
"Is there any reason why I shouldn't?" Himmel's voice brings her out from her musings. She turns to the task at hand and with gentle hands finishes applying the medicine on him.
"You have too much confidence in my abilities."
"You think so because you undermine yourself, but that is not true." Himmel shakes his head with a soft sigh and reaches out to her; Frieren allows him to rest his hand on her head. Again- she understood what he had meant to do.
"I believe in Frieren. She's very strong," he says while patting her. It puts her doubts in herself to a little ease. Even her newfound awareness about herself doesn't feel so unnerving. It leaves a warm and comforting sensation in her chest.
"Even if you may not realise it now, one day you will." And she sears his words in her mind.
Maybe she has done it often, taken his words to heart, for she has never once forgotten any lessons he has bestowed her with. She hopes she will continue to do so in the eons she will live ahead in.
"Please learn to have more faith in yourself," he tells her after every battle they partake in and slowly she feels an unknown confidence blossom within her.
"I'm proud of you, Frieren," he tells her when they've defeated the Demon King at last and she feels an unknown admiration build up in her. For her.
Because if Himmel believes in her and if they've defeated the Demon KIng and his army surely it is evidence of her strength. So she chooses to believe in herself. And in Himmel's faith.
But on their way back to the Capital she wonders, what is this faith? And why has this faith been placed on her?
"It's because I trust you." When Frieren looks into eyes as free-spirited as the sky and as boundless as the sea she feels this trust reflect in herself.
"Thank you Himmel. For always believing in me. For.....trusting me." Her voice is lost to the bronze statue of a young man who stands on a pedestal before her, at his feet she lays a bouquet of blue moon weed.
She knows that he hears her not but hopes that her prayers would find their way to him. After all, she always did.

Bsd chapter 114 spoilers below
This page scared me for a sec man, I thought that theory I made months ago was about to be canon 😭
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It seems like it might be a blood transfusion ability though, like the one that killed Kyouka's parents, so Sigma might be safe from Fyodor possession for now but I'm NOT liking how close it almost got. 😭
Holy fuck though what a chapter. Like damn. Goddamn.
And ninecups said on twitter that next chapter (144.5) will likely end volume 5, and volume 4 ended with Dazai's 'death', so we may be in for an even wilder ride next month and idk if I'm even ready. At least I've got a month to prepare mentally 😔.
On the brighter side...
I have another page to add to my collection of 'Times Sigma and Atsushi were drawn on the same page' 😎
(And even though he's still unconscious I love that those two sat him down so he looks like a princess on a throne, better treatment than him being thrown against the floor at least 😭)
Tumblr media
Also I can't believe this didn't click for me before, but the fact that Dazai knew Sigma gave Atsushi the information was probably what spurred him into picking Sigma as an ally (and trying to get him to want to join the ADA too).
That's really cute to think about, the fact that one good decision Sigma made before he thought he'd die ended up being a big reason why he might finally gain a home in the future.
It wasn't just Dazai having a 'sense' that Sigma was good, it was Sigma's own action that lead him into being a potential ADA member, I love him man 😭💕
