River and Donna interacting in Silence in the Library kills me a little bit because both their worlds have just shifted off kilter. River's gone far enough back in the Doctor's timeline that she's found the one that doesn't know her yet, and who looks right through her. Donna's met someone from the Doctor's future who doesn't know her at all, but knows of her enough to say her name with awe and sorrow.
i just think if they're doing post-library big finish audios with River, it would be neat to get one with her and Donna ending up on an adventure and getting to chat a bit more

I’m not like any man you’ve met. Oh yeah? What makes you different? You see the world? Of course I do. I’ll make it beautiful for you. For you I’ll change the way it is. With what? [ORPHEUS, holds up guitar] With this!
It’s an old song It’s an old tale from way back when It’s an old song And we’re gonna sing it again and again... It’s a sad song.. It’s a sad tale, it’s a tragedy.

Foreshadowing, out of order?
In storytelling, is there a single word that means "the opposite of foreshadowing"?
WARNING: in trying to wrap my head around this, there will be wittering!!!
Wikipedia tells me that a flashback is a method of foreshadowing.
The Bullet Catch in the NZF minisode, being a flashback as well as told before the "present day" [speculated] event it sets up a clue for, well, that's what I've understood foreshadowing to mean until now, because isn't foreshadowing always presented before the event it foreshadows comes to pass?
Tumblr media
The flashback/memory minisode, A Companion To Owls, is told after the "present day" event it foreshadows. Does that still count as foreshadowing, or is it instead considered "the big reveal" because it is told after?
And is this all that is meant by various things in Good Omens 2 being "out of order"?
The Hiding Miracle and the Memory That Both Foreshadows and Reveals It?
Indeed, it was a tiny miracle - as titled in the soundtrack - that worked as planned and "barely moved the dials" (but still a miracle in which "Noone will have noticed A Thing" however tiny it was, and that "Nobody notices he's here (...) Nobody can spot him, (...) especially if they're looking for him").
I believe it was the first of three events that happened that night, which, became the main focus of this "quiet, gentle, romantic" season, but paling in comparison to the other two events. Moving on!
Returning to how A Companion to Owls isn't told until after The Hiding Miracle and clues us in as to what was actually going on: this tiny miracle was made to appear far more powerful than it actually was, with the use of showmanship:
The ceremonious setup of being positioned on the circle in the middle of the room hidden under the carpet, between Aziraphale and Crowley; he could have been standing, but instead, "Jim... Sit in this chair." And it's a beautiful chair, like a throne, but Jim being taller wouldn't have worked for the image of the 'W' (similar to the 'W' shape made with Shadwell standing between Aziraphale and Crowley at the airbase, in the book Good Omens.)
Tumblr media
ta-da!-look-at-this-very-complicated-and-powerful-miracle-that-we-are-doing
Why perform at all then, for an audience of none?
Ah, they're not alone, oooOoOoOOOoOoOooo, spooky. Go and see for yourself: check out the bottom left area of the screen when Crowley returns to the bookshop and says, "I'm BACK" (this is to do with the "framing opportunities" secret mentioned in the Gavin Finney BTS article https://britishcinematographer.co.uk/gavin-finney-bsc-good-omens-2/) Aziraphale calmly replies, "Yes, I can see that" and later gasps, reacting to something happening off-screen at 40m41s.
So this performance, not yet knowing who their audience might be, could be as a precaution, just in case.
Tumblr media
Gabriel instinctively crosses his hands and is confused when Aziraphale and Crowley uncross them - or likely because Aziraphale was even standing there at all - because he remembers, or rather, in his mind's eye, sees the shape left behind by a missing piece of furniture.
The ceremonious setup of being positioned in the centre, between Sitis and Job, this time in the background to have Bildad appear a little shorter in height for the stylized 'W', then crossing his hands. The pot containing Sitis and Job's children being the circle, hidden by the circle of carpet (robes) made as Sitis and Job embrace.
Tumblr media
ta-da!-look-at-this-very-complicated-and-powerful-miracle-that-we-are-doing
Had we seen Jim's and Crowley's conversation about memory before The Hiding Miracle instead of much later in episode 5, then it would have been foreshadowing, yes?
*temper rising* A "reveal," or "out-of-order foreshadowing"? (VBUAXNAUSX*keyboard smash*NYVIFGNOMAI) grrrrrr!
...
After the Job story is told, (save for the final scene) and Aziraphale calls for Crowley, my head-cannon used to be that Aziraphale wanted to talk about hair -
Aziraphale: Crowley, I gave you lovely long locks in my retelling of this story, how about you? Crowley: Nah, "shoulder-length bouncy 'bob'" is what I put - a "Lob" I think is what they're calling it these days.
But now I think that, to book-end Crowley's beginning with, "Your boss said that to Job, do you remember?" (imo they are so good at blending in, they can act human better than any human can act human! So, while feigning the memory span&loss&retention of a human, of course they can remember most everything. Angel stock: constitution of an Ox, memory of an Elephant.) Aziraphale may have wanted to remark on Jim's crossed hands from the night before and how similar it was to Crowley's doing so; that it was evidence of Gabriel still somehow being able to connect with images from his memory. "Crowley? You also did that thing... does Gabriel remember?"
If each minisode contains something that foreshadows or reveals what magic tricks occurred during this season's present day events, I feel that the only thing left is from "The Resurrectionists" minisode, where Crowley Goes Large (woah, woah, woah, another case for The Song Is The Clue?!?) ... or makes himself, something or someone else tiny.
"Size and shape are simply options" after all, so I do wonder about Hell's Usher, where the only time we've seen him is when he is small enough to fit in a bathtub and yet he is HUGE in the opening title sequence of season one. Behind him, Noah's Ark stranded between two damaged buildings (or one damaged building and maybe the Pleasure Cruiser Morbillo?)
Tumblr media
Something else that may be revealing of stories yet to be told of the past, while also foreshadowing a near-future event:
Tumblr media
Based on what Crowley said, this is not the first time Crowley and Aziraphale have performed a half-miracle together! Whatever biiiig miracle they're about to do (speculated event #2) could still be completely balanced and undetected, but then a plume of miraculous activity emerging from the circle gateway (privately speculated event #3) is what poor Aziraphale will appear to take the blame for.
Things being out of order may have started with the question, are season two's present day events being told out of order? There are other things appearing out of order as well, for example a change in the order of colours in the Rainbow (for "present day" episode two only I think, beginning Violet then Red, etc.) Or, in this case, narrative devices being so intertwined, one flashback-event can contain images and phrases that both foreshadow something yet to happen as well as to reveal what happened in a part of the story already told.
As always, please no asking or tagging Mr Gaiman as this blog post contains theory and speculation, thank you.

Nymeria nipped eagerly at her hand as Arya untied her. She had yellow eyes. When they caught the sunlight, they gleamed like two golden coins. Arya had named her after the warrior queen of the Rhoyne, who had led her people across the narrow sea. (Arya I, AGOT) *George directly compares Dany to Nymeria*
---
This time the monsters did not frighten her. They seemed almost old friends. Arya held the candle over her head. With each step she took, the shadows moved against the walls, as if they were turning to watch her pass. "Dragons," she whispered. (Arya IV, AGOT)
--
If I had wings I could fly back to Winterfell and see for myself. And if it was true, I'd just fly away, fly up past the moon and the shining stars, and see all the things in Old Nan's stories, dragons and sea monsters and the Titan of Braavos, and maybe I wouldn't ever fly back unless I wanted to. (Arya X, ACOK)
--
"I wish I had a flaming sword." Arya could think of lots of people she'd like to set on fire. (Arya IV, ASOS)
--
Arya drew back from him. "He killed the slave?" That did not sound right. "He should have killed the masters!" (Arya II, AFFC)
--
"I would like to see a dragon," Mercy said wistfully. "Why does the envoy have a chicken on his chest?" (Mercy, TWOW) *said to her friend Daena*
This is the same Arya Stark who I'm supposed to believe isn't going to be instant besties with Daenerys Targaryen...okay. I think it's time for some of y'all to go back to the books and actually read them.

Foolish taking the time to consider the power in his hands, thinking over what the consequences will be and who he’s going to accuse. Remembering what Cellbit had said to him in Purgatory - we are not fish - and believing he understood what that implies. Talking briefly with Bad, who’s willing to take the fall. Leaving it up to chaos, returning to the room in Cellbit’s castle and flipping a coin. Saying it wouldn’t have mattered if he had used a coin or marbles or any other method, “destiny arrives all the same.” The coin landing face up, cementing Cellbit’s fate.
The Ordem Paranormal: Calamidade music in the background as he looks at the coin and deliberates: Escolha Errada - Wrong Choice.

So let’s talk about No Longer You from Epic: The Musical
I just finished listening to The UnderWorld Saga from Epic and even though it’s the shortest saga out of the musical the amount of lyrical symbolism and foreshadowing from this saga is incredible but I specifically want to talk about No Longer You and how this song uses foreshadowing to its advantage but also to show the inevitable character growth and development that Odysseus will actively go through in Act 2. Tiresias, when Odysseus first meets him and gets his prophecy pretty much not only tells Odysseus how his journey will end but how to do it. First is, ‘’I see portrayals of betrayal, and a brothers final stand’’ now to Odysseus this seems like he is going to lose another member of his already dwindling crew however to the audience and those who know of the myth know that this is to show Eurylochus’s mutiny that will/is happening, its hinted at in the opening verse of Puppeter that Eurylochus was going confess to Odysseus that he’s the reason why the wind bag was opened, so this was pretty much a warning by Tiresias for Odysseus to be very careful of those around his crew, so this might come into play in Act 2 about Odysseus being a little more apprehensive around Eurylochus and his crew. Second is, ‘’I see you on the brink of death. I see you draw your final breath. I see a man who gets to make it home alive but it’s no longer you’’, these lines are the most important in the entire musical cause it show that at some point on Odysseus’s journey back home he will go through such a change that the ‘’final breath’’ is to show that the Odysseus we knew since the beginning of the story will ‘’die’’ and a new Odysseus will emerge to do what ever is necessary to get back home and will accept ruthlessness, I also find it interesting that Tiresias says the exact same words to Odysseus when he first got his prophecy it’s as if Tiresias is almost telling him ‘hey, this is what’s going to happen to the exact dime, change your way of thinking now or you will not live long enough to get back home’ and in Monster, Odysseus finally accepts ruthlessness and at this moment I believe is the old Odysseus’s ‘’last breath’’ and in Act 2 we will see how this new Odysseus will use what ever tools he has to get back to Penelope and Telemachus. No Longer You is an excellent use of foreshadowing and how it can be used to show a character’s growth and development and this song should be studied for writers to help better use clever foreshadowing in there stories just, aaarrrghh it’s so good!

Achilles jokes about his mother kidnapping him when she finds out about his relationship with Patroclus, but Thetis does kidnap Achilles after she sees how close they've become when they return to Pthia from Mount Pelion. Achilles believes that Thetis kidnapped him to protect him from the war, but that forcing him to marry Deidameia and have a child with her was because of his relationship with Patroclus. Thetis tried to do everything possible to repel Achilles and Patroclus, stopping not only at taking Achilles to a place where no one in his previous life was supposed to find him, but stopping only when Achilles was married, forced to lie with a woman, and childbound.
Achilles complied only because Thetis promised to tell Patroclus his location if he did her bidding, although she never intended to keep this promise. Achilles only knew his mothers lie when Patroclus came and told him that he went through all that pain for nothing. It wouldn't have mattered if he complied with his mothers cruel wishes, at this point in the book Thetis was never going to willingly bring Patroclus back into Achilles life. She forced him into a marriage and a family to hurt him, hoping that Patroclus would despise him for it, and hoping that Achilles would feel obligated to live this new life without him.
She tried to kill Patroclus from Achilles life, in all of the ways that mattered most to them.

Details from the leaving montage that probably mean nothing? But also
Every girl is seen by a window—except for Misty, the only non-YJ girl (and Travis/Javi, who obviously are their own kind of outsiders)
Natalie is the only one to be looking OUT of the window—and the one dressed in the famous purple shirt
Laura Lee’s window offers warm, bright light; Lottie’s window is enormous, but shuttered with blinds
Van and Taissa are the only ones with actual lines (arguably the two least likely to speak freely with their teammates)
Taissa’s the only one to have a remotely healthy interaction with her parents, foreshadowing her obsession with a Picture Perfect Family Structure
Shauna starts in the attic

Something we should definitely not overlook, because it feels relevant to birthdaygate, is the individual character posters for season 4.
There's actually even an interview with the Duffer Brothers, where they were asked about this theory:
Though, I should clarify, this interviewer got a few details wrong, as it appears Max was actually looking away from the camera, not directly at it. Not only that, but she also wasn’t the only one to do so. She was one out of four total...
Tumblr media
Looking directly at the camera: El, Hopper, Murray, Will, Argyle, Steve, Dustin, Robin, (not shown above: Karen, Lucas, Erica, Nancy, Eddie)
Looking away from the camera, to their left: Joyce, Mike, Jonathon, Max
We could deduce that this visual choice was foreshadowing Max getting cursed by Vecna in season 4, and Matt did sort of elude to this in his response to the question, seeing as it was focused only on her. But what could this possibly mean for the other three then?
Initially, it didn’t seem like we got anything substantial enough in s4 that could have possibly paralleled Joyce, Mike and Jonathon to Max's situation, or even being cursed by Vecna like she did for that matter. Well, except—
Tumblr media
I do find it interesting that the same episode we see Max slowly discover she has been cursed, in an episode literally titled 'Vecna's Curse', it's March 22nd, Will's birthday, and in real time we are seeing the three people who would definitely never forget Will's birthday, presumably forget.
Tumblr media
Because undeniably, the first thing that crosses my mind when it comes to what could possibly connect these three characters with each other, is Will. He's what connects them all. But even more specifically, THIS scene below is what connects them all, a scene which, might I remind you, has a major emphasis on the word 'remember':
Joyce: Do you know what March 22nd is? It’s your birthday. YOUR birthday. When you turned 8, I gave you that huge box of crayons, do you remember that?
Jonathon: Do you remember the day dad left?
Mike: Do you remember the first day that we met?
Tumblr media
Vecna:
Tumblr media
Not only do I think this means that Vecna most likely took away these three's memory of Will’s birthday, I also think it means he took away this specific memory and all the memories mentioned within it.
If it's all coming full circle and everything leads back to Will, it would make sense that Vecna 'took notes' during this whole incident in 2x08. These memories and these specific people in Will's life played a role in thwarting Vecna's plans last time, so obviously, he's not going to give them the chance to do that again.
This also brings up some interesting questions:
Were those weird POV shots of the Cali gang, that looked oddly stalker-ish, meant to represent Vecna keeping a close eye on them, to make sure his plan was still in motion?
How long will this manipulation (curse) Vecna has on these three last? And to what extent? Will it all just come to a head right away in early season 5, at a moment when they're trying to save Will, but they inevitably fail because all of the relevant things that saved him last time, are now missing from their memories?
And last, but definitely not least, is it possible Mike wouldn’t have gone through with professing his love to El, the way that he did, even going as far as to say his life started the day he found her in the woods (the day Will went missing), if he had remembered already doing the exact same thing with Will…? If he had remembered the best thing he'd ever done was ask Will to be his friend? Because if this theory is correct y’all... MIKE DOESN'T REMEMBER!!!???
Well, that's all (for now)
Please be sure to check out this post if you haven't already, but even more importantly, scroll down to the bottom of that post, because there I have linked all the most incriminating evidence thus far.
And trust me, once you read all of it, it's pretty much undeniable.
I also hope this gives some validation to those of you out there who denied vehemently that Joyce, Mike or Jonathon could EVER possibly forget Will's birthday. Because you were right. Technically, they didn't. Technically it required an inter-dimensional monster for this to be possible at all. So props to ya'll and your faith in these characters! YOU WERE RIGHT!

DAENERYS APPRECIATION MONTH | Day 7: Underrated visions, dreams and prophecies hosted by @fireandbloodsource and @asoiafdaenerysdaily
Azor Ahai – The Prince that Was Promised
“What fools we were, who thought ourselves so wise! The error crept in from the translation. Dragons are neither male nor female, Barth saw the truth of that, but now one and now the other, as changeable as flame. The language misled us all for a thousand years. Daenerys is the one, born amidst salt and smoke. The dragons prove it.” Just talking of her seemed to make him stronger. [...]
“The sword is wrong, she has to know that… light without heat… an empty glamor… the sword is wrong, and the false light can only lead us deeper into darkness, Sam. Daenerys is our hope. Tell them that, at the Citadel. Make them listen.” – Maester Aemon [Sam IV, A Feast For Crows]
“From smoke and salt was she born to make the world anew. She is Azor Ahai returned… and her triumph over darkness will bring a summer that will never end… death itself will bend its knee, and all those who die fighting in her cause shall be reborn.” – Haldon Halfmaester [Tyrion IV, A Dance With Dragons]
“When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt to wake dragons out of stone. Dragonstone is the place of smoke and salt.”
Jon had heard all this before. “Stannis Baratheon was the Lord of Dragonstone, but he was not born there. He was born at Storm's End, like his brothers.” – Jon and Melisandre [Jon X, A Dance With Dragons]
...because Dany is Azor Ahai and Jon is Nissa Nissa and I will defend this theory until my last breath.

1920s south park au part 26
the song bebe’s singing was released in 1921 and was one of the biggest hits of the year. the original version by van & schneck is actually more sexual than most modern covers. the 20s version has a lot of sexual implications that get left out in later recordings — lines such as “the rich get richer and the poor get children”, “the rich get rich and the poor get laid… off”, and “when i’m paid off, i’ll get laid… off”.
most modern versions just say “the rich get richer and the poor get poorer”, which i guess flows better but sounds a lot more boring.
