Ghouls in mass probably crave a tenderness and kindness they can no longer feel or give out. They are repulsive just in the sense of what they are, dead people who didn't quit die, corpses allowed to walk and think past their atomic burial. They reek. They are falling apart. They have no skin to caress, no lips to purse in disgust or lay upon a partner or friend. They are not allotted the kindness of community we see in the settlements. They band together to share their pain, marked by what they once were and never asked who they could continue to be.

oh what if Miles, who can’t hear his own hum that his electricity causes, can manipulate the sound that it makes like tuning some instrument. and Hobie strums his guitar and Miles takes a moment to try and mimic the noise by building up his electricity and lowering the amount to get to the next note/sound, and has to look at Hobie for confirmation, but Hobie is just staring thinking of the possibilities of the music they could make with that power . basically Miles not hearing or fully understanding what he’s doing but he knows his friend thinks it’s cool/appreciates the mirroring so he does it anyway.

WAIT WAIT. do plants literally need love to survive???? Tesla died so quickly in part because she was neglected in her needs as a person -- did the twins only survive because Rem showed them that there was a place they COULD survive? Did Tesla's body just go "there's no place for me here" and shut down? The dependent plants only survive because people care for them and tend to their needs. Are independents the same, just with different needs?

One of my favourite things in Dungeon Meshi is when Senshi decides to make some holy water to repel aggressive ghosts, just squats down, lights a fire and starts putting various things considered sacred in different parts of the world in a pot - beetles! some booze! some salt! then puts in some sugar for good measure because he is pulling this improvised holy water recipe out of his ass

posing the question, did it work because a mish-mash of cultural appropriation in a jar is actually effective ghost repellent, meaning all these items have an intrinsic holiness that anyone can use regardless of their religion

#ravenous 1999 #REQUESTED OVER A YEAR AGO I SHOULD ADD #i am SO very sorry that this took so long #i wasn't in a ravenous mood when you sent the request and then various Unforeseen Life Circumstances got in my way #and then i procrastinated on getting the blu ray for a bit #but - if it's any consolation - this is a MUCH higher-quality set than you would have gotten if i had made it right away #i'm remaking all my old sets with the blu ray footage - i'm OBSESSED #and it's soooooooooo much easier to work with than the black sa.ils blu rays thank GOODNESS #so lots and lots more goodies to come! #but i wanted to start with this one because i've been meaning to do it for SO long and life just kept getting in the way #i love Martha SO much - i def would have done a set for her eventually request or not #truly i am keeping it together until Cleaves' coat and the purple stole... then i just lose it #like. she loses everyone she loves to imperialist violence and then is forced to leave her home for her own survival #it's so awful #i'm so glad she survives - but it's still absolutely a tragedy (both for her and in general) #kudos to Antonia for insisting on the inclusion of the final shot of her walking out though... it's such a powerful image #in a tragic sense of her being forced off her land with literally only the clothes on her back #and in a hopeful sense that she DOES escape and live on... she isn't devoured by the system #it's just A Lot #i'm have a few more Martha sets planned that i'm really excited about as well! #one of her and Cleaves (in which i will shamelessly reuse a few of these gifs) #and one of... well... I just made speech bubbles and called it a day! :') #coloring this took 2 hours but I don't remember how long the actual panel part took because It wasn't it's own separate thing #could I tell you why Pac is running through one of the Nether cities? maybe #am I going to? no <3 #(I only say no because I barely have an idea ready for this^^;;) #there are several things I could have done better in this but hey! that's for me to remember next time! #hopefully #I lied the only main thing I have for this in my head is that Pac gives hope to the ghosts living in the Ghost City #he saves an elderly ghost from being eaten by a Gargoyle that was sent in by this more (financially) powerful ghost lady #because that higher up-in-the-ranks ghost lady is this nasty. greedy. and cruel woman who torments those who live below her #and since this City is on the outskirts of Betrayus's land #Betrayus can't just waltz in and go “Stop right there!" #Ghost Rulers can't meddle in the affairs of other territories that don't belong to them #h o w e v e r. that's where Pac comes in to play #which. it was not in Betrayus's plan to get involved in city stuff but Pac said otherwise #it's everywhere but maybe I'll try to write it all out #I just need to friggin figure out *why* Betrayus is taking Pac to this ghost city in the first place >:/
