Demolition Lovers Part 6 Sebastian x Farmer Stardew Valley Fanfic

"(farmers name) Wait Please!" Sebastian yelled.

"Good bye Sebastian. I'll see you around..." You left and walked home.

Once home you went directly into your farm house. You locked your door and went into your bedroom. You flopped down on your bed and threw off your bunny ears. You let out loud sigh and just closed your eyes. Tomorrow would be new day right. Right??

You woke up bright early. Like clock work went to work on the farm. You spent the last couple of days just doing the same routine. Fishing and mining. You had really only one thing planned. Just make that money. You decided you'd head into town square to go see Clint for a little bit. Not that you liked Clint. You kinda found him annoying with all the self depreciating jokes he makes constantly. He was rude to you too. You honestly couldnt decide who annoyed you more Clint or Lewis or Abby. You sighed as you started walking through town square.

"Hey (farmers name)!" Alex was calling for you.

You turned around and walked over to him.

"Hey Alex..." You waved at him.

"Whats up? How you been?" He smiled staring at you.

"I've been fine. Just been working making money." You said.

"Yeah I bet busy with the farm. Do you have plans today?" He asked.

"I need to see Clint today... But I should be free after." You replied.

"Oh great. Want to hang out today after your done?" He grinned.

"Sure.. Let me go see Clint. Bye Alex I'll see you soon." You waved bye and walked to Clints shop.

You went inside and Clint was waiting there at the counter.

"Oh hi (farmers name)." He said quietly.

"Hi Clint.." You sighed.

"Don't you have work to do?" He glared at you.

"Just crack these geodes." You huffed handing them to him.

He started cracking them and you waited patiently for him to finish. He handed you all the crystals inside them. You waved bye and left. You went back over to Alex's house. He was outside standing next to dog house fenced in.

"Hey Alex... Im back.." You waved approaching him.

"Welcome back beautiful." He smiled waving.

"Why are you by this dog house? Is this your dog?" You asked walking over beside him.

"No he's the towns dog. I like to take care of him though. His name is Dusty. He's really sweet." Alex smiled wrapping an arm around you.

"Oh... thats nice of you..." You said slowly taking his arm off of you.

"Yeah.. he reminds me of myself.. You want to go eat?" He asked winking at you.

"Sure..."

You were unsure about him. Mixed feelings to say the least. You followed Alex to the Saloon. He sat down in the booth and you sat down across from him. Gus walked over to you both.

"Good afternoon Alex and (farmers name). What can I get for you?" Gus asked smiling eyeing you both.

Before you could even say something Alex responded.

"Yes I'll have the Salmon Dinner and (farmers name) will have the vegetable salad." Alex grinned.

"Wonderful I'll get that in for Alex. You two enjoy." Gus smiled walking away.

"Uhh... why did you just order for me?" You asked blankly looking at him.

"Yeah a gentleman should order for you. Sebastian wouldn't know anything about that. Hes a freak." Alex said blankly staring back at you.

"Uhh.. no he's not. I can order for myself. What if I don't like salads. You're just gonna assume I like that. Just like how you assume Sebastian is a freak. Have you ever just tried to talk to him?" You asked glaring at him.

"Of course not. Why would I talk to him? He's boring and weird. He lives in the basement like vampire." Alex huffed.

"God.. You're just like every other man. I can-" You were cut off by Gus coming over.

"Here we are the Salmon Dinner for you Alex. And a vegetable garden salad for you (farmers name). Enjoy please." Gus smiled.

"Uh thank you Gus but-" Alex interrupted you.

"She wanted to know if she could get more salad dressing." Alex said.

"Of course. I'll be back." Gus smiled walking away.

"Alex stop inter-" He cut you off again.

"Relax. Just enjoy your food baby." He smiled eating.

"Okay... Wow... I'm done." You hissed.

"Shut the fuck up and eat." He hissed.

"Fuck you. It's already annoying as fuck Sebastian cuts me off. I can't deal with someone else doing to me." You hissed standing up.

"You will sit down and enjoy your salad." He demanded.

"Here you want it so bad. Fuck you Alex. Bye." You said throwing the salad on him and walking out of Saloon.

You were upset and walking not paying attention. You started to make your way down to the beach.

"(Farmers name)! Wait!" Someone called out after you.

"I said I was fucking done Alex." You yelled back till they grabbed you.

"I'm not Alex.." Sam was looking at you smiling faintly.

"Oh my God. Sam I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you." You said apologizing to him.

"Hey its all good (farmers name). What were you doing with Alex? How come you weren't with Seb? What's going on with you and Seb anyway? Not to be nosey... well I'm being nosey. You don't have to tell me anything haha." Sam stuttered.

"Sam... It's okay. I don't know what I was doing with Alex... I'm mad with Sebastian... I don't know what to do Sam.... I like him... but he makes me so mad sometimes... he's difficult to deal with... but I really like him.... like really really like... And Abby... guh she won't leave me alone... Sebastian does things with her and won't tell me... I don't know if I can trust him.... I shouldn't be telling you this... sorry Sam..." You were rambling and stuttering.

"Hey hey hey calm down (farmers name). Everything is going to be okay. I said it before but Abby has had a crush on Sebastian for like ever. She really likes him. I don't know why she's obsessed but she is. She's told me. I don't know how to help you with her. She gets mad very easily. And as for Sebastian. He's tough character to love. He's stubborn and loyal. But his stubbornness gets the best of him. Sometimes space from him helps. I know you like him. But I'm sure you're mad because he said something stupid. He says a lot of stupid things. But if you show him he was wrong and how it made you feel he'll understand. Anyway it's getting late. Let me walk you home." Sam explained smiling.

"Yeah. Thank you Sam." You smiled following after him.

You both walked back home to farm house in silence. Once you got there he stopped and looked at you.

"Hey... He likes you too... you know. He talks about you alot. I think he really really likes you too." Sam smiled and waved bye to you.

You waved back to him and walked inside the farm house. You sighed and got into bed. You closed your eyes and went to sleep. It was now 2 days till the flower dance. You woke up at 6:00 am and went outside to water your crops and feed the chickens. After you were done watering your crops you went into town. You checked the bulletin board and saw Sebastian had put a request in. He wanted 10 rocks for something. You rolled your eyes and started making your way up the mountain.

Demetrius was outside again watering the plants when you got there.

"Oh hello (farmers name). You're not here for Sebastian right?" He asked glaring at you.

"Uhh... actually I am..." You said blankly.

"You could do better you know." He said just staring at you.

"We're just friends.." You said.

"You could still do so much better." He huffed.

"Why do you hate him so much? Yeah he's annoying but why?" You huffed.

"He's useless. And-" You cut him off.

"Enough. I don't want to hear your sad excuses. You should be respecting him." You glared at him.

"Do not talk to me about re-" Demetrius was cut off again but by Sebastian.

"Why the fuck are you here (farmers name)?" Sebastian hissed coming out the door behind Demetrius.

"I'm here... to drop off your bulletin board order." Your eyes met his rage filled eyes.

"I'm just gonna... go." Demetrius said walking away quickly.

"Well.. do you want it or not?" You crossed your arms glaring at him.

"Yeah fine... thanks I guess.." He huffed standing in front of you.

"Whatever. You're a fucking asshole." You were talking with your hands.

"Yeah whatever... I don't have time for this..." He said huffing and turning away.

"Fuck.... You... Sebastian... I don't fucking have time for you either!" You hissed flipping him off and started walking away.

"Yeah whatever... fucking walk away bitch.." He hissed strolling up the mountain.

You felt your eye twitch when he said bitch. You whipped back around picked up a rock and threw it at him. It hit him in the head. He whipped around and glared at you.

"Really?" He asked glaring at you.

You marched up to him and pushed him.

"Fuck you." You huffed feeling your eyes tear up a bit.

""Stop... (farmers name).." He grabbed you and pulled you close to him.

"No... Sebastian... I'm upset with you..." Your eyes met his. He put his hands on your face gently.

"I know... I'm mad at you too..." He huffed. His face was close to yours. Your heart and mind were racing.

"No you don't get to be mad at me... You embarrassed me... You don't want to dance with me... You hang out with Abby and then lie about it to me... How can I trust you.. You're a hard man to love... You never tell me what exactly you want... I can't believe I was dumb enough to hang out with Alex today because I am mad at you... I.." You were rambling.

"Wait.... what the fuck you mean you hung out with Alex?" Sebastian eyes flickered with anger.

"I... uhh.." You tried looking away from him but he pulled your face to look back at him.

"Answer me." His eyes were fixated on you.

"Don't do that to me." You hissed.

"I said answer me." His voice was stern.

"You left me.. what the fuck was I supposed to think. I didn't think we'd talk anymore." You tried pleading with him.

"So you go out with that scum bag. Smooth.." He hissed.

"Yeah I did.. But I left asshole. Believe or not but when he started calling you a freak I lost it and left." You huffed.

"Right... sure you did. Why would you do that if I'm just an asshole to you." He looked away from you.

"I never said that... Sebastian... I like you a lot please..." You grabbed his face making him look at you.

"Then why call me it all the time?" His eyes met yours.

"I'm sorry... I'll stop... But you need to stop the arguing and yelling at me. I'm trying Sebastian I really am. I would like to go with you to the flower dance." You said eyeing him.

"Okay.. I'll try to be more calm. You will NEVER see Alex again. We will be going to the flower dance together. I've missed you (farmers name)." He moved his lips closer to yours.

"Great... so it's a date now. I've missed you more." You said wrapping your arms around him playing with his hair.

"Perfect... I'll pick you up at 8:00 am. Look beautiful." He smirked.

"Oh do I not look beautiful everyday?" You asked raising an eye brow. You felt his arms wrap around your waist.

"You look perfect and beautiful everyday. But you don't need me to tell you that." He grinned.

Your heart was racing. He smelled so good. All you could smell was him. It was so intoxicating. His eyes looked perfect. You were so close to him. Your lips were so close to his.

"(farmers name).." Sebastian said taking a deep breath brushing your cheek with his thumb.

"Sebastian..." You whispered slowly.

assigning a mychem song to each tma entity :o)

i dont have anything for dark and buried. umm. also i dont know how to put a cut in a post sorry

corruption- demolition lovers. the relationship isnt good for either of them, but hes still willing to die for her ("im trying to let you know just how much you mean to me, after all the things we put each other through") all of his expressions of love for her are violent in nature ("id end my days with you in a hail of bullets" "you're the only one, like a bed of roses theres a dozen reasons in this gun") their love is built on violence, its hurting both of them, yet he still wants to die with her to prove his love and devotion to her

desolation- early sunsets over monroeville. life is perfect, him and his lover are on a mall date, feels like a movie. ("then holding hands and life was perfect") then it all comes crumbling down out of nowhere when a zombie outbreak kinda thing happens and said lover is bit. ("not knowing you'd change from just one bite, i fought them all off just to hold you close") he can't exactly leave the mall he's hiding in, ("trapped in by all these mountains") and now he has to kill the one good thing he has left. then he's just defeated. he has nothing else worth living for. "but does anything matter if you're already dead?"

end- the end. obvz. "when i grow up i want to be nothing at all" most of the song to me is him expressing he wants to die/he knows hes going to, and he takes it very casually, buttttt the very end of the song... "save me, get me the hell out of here, save me, too young to die my dear, you cant take me" hes afraid of death when actually facing it

extinction- scarecrow. this ones about a nuclear bomb and trying to run from your death and look at things positively even though you know everyones going to die. but theres kind of an acceptance at the end- "love wont stop this bomb, run, run, bunny, run" after this point, the only lyrics are saying to run and hide. no more "i'll keep you safe tonight", no more romanticism that makes the destruction sound poetic and almost beautiful. just running and hiding and hoping someone makes it out alive

eye- teenagers. me personally i think this one fits. "because they sleep with a gun and keep an eye on you, son, so they can watch all the things you do" he feels like he's constantly being watched by the adults in his life, and they're just waiting for him to make one wrong move that they can use to justify calling him a bad person. he stands out, his classmates make fun of him and spread rumors about him. in the context of the song, the lyrics are all rebelling against all of this, but on their own, they sound very paranoid about what others think of them

flesh- cancer. i think this one works, the patient expresses a lot of hatred for what his body is becoming due to the disease in verse 2 especially. "turn away, cause im awful just to see" its got the aspects of insecurity and physical change out of ones control characteristic of the flesh.

hunt- vampires will never hurt you. this one isnt really a fear of being prey, but rather his fear of becoming the hunter. "can you stake my heart?" "i'll never let them hurt you, i promise" he feels that his vampirism is a different side of him completely, one thats out of his control. he'd rather be killed now than lose control and make his loved ones his prey.

lonely- ghost of you. he lost someone important, and he can't stop thinking about it and replaying their memories in his head because he doesn't want to forget them, but dwelling is only making him miss them more. ("if i died, we'd be together now, i can't always just forget her") he just replays her death over and over in his head, constantly reminded that he's now alone. ("i remember now, at the top of my lungs in my arms, she dies" "all the things that you never ever told me, all the smiles that are ever gonna haunt me, never coming home, never coming home")

slaughter- mama. i mean its literally about a soldier who did awful things during a war and his mother can't help but hate him for it. "but there's shit that i've done with this fuck of a gun, you would cry out your eyes all along" he acknowledges that he fought his hardest because he thought he'd die at war ("so raise your glass high, for tomorrow we die") and his mother would be even more terrified of him than she already is if she knew the full extent of it. the song even ends with her sobbing

spiral- drowning lessons. after the death of his lover, he is haunted by a manifestation of his guilt that takes her form and makes him relive the day over and over again ("lets say goodbye a hundredth time and then tomorrow, we'll do it again"). he desperately wants it to go away but his own mind wont leave him be ("without a sound, i wish you away" "i adore every inch of sanity, all im asking for"). a lot of things in the song also sound like hes experiencing visions of her death, twisted by his brain- describing her as a "twisted shell" and saying "these hands, stained red from all the times that ive killed you"

stranger- blood. i dont know this one just really fits to me? "well they encourage your complete cooperation, send you roses when they think you need to smile" "so give them blood, blood, gallons of the stuff, give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough" does this not give the image of like weirdly happy all the time doctors who keep doing procedures on you but you dont know like what exactly they're doing ever. also the very fun chipper tone and its contrast with the disturbing lyrics is very stranger core to me

vast- disenchanted. this one might be a stretch? after all his attempts to make life meaningful, he's left thoroughly disappointed. he realizes at the end of his life that everything has all been meaningless. he thinks life itself is overrated.

web- the jetset life is gonna kill you. this ones about drug addiction but the song portrays that as a woman who's controlling his life. "gaze into her killing jar, id sometimes stare for hours" she has him completely trapped and in the palm of her hand. "alright, she wants it all to come down this time"

honestly i love how they talk about kaz's cane like it's the scariest weapon ever (which it kind of is)

nothing will ever disappoint me more than finding out that in english their gang name is "the Dregs". like i don't even know for sure what that means

in spanish is "Los Indeseables" (the undesirables?) which sounds a lot more badass

no hate tho i like the dregs

but i was confused af bc i expected it to be sometihng like "the undesirables" or"the unwanted" or whatever

and it said "the dregs"

which in the translator means something like shit or something

That Kaz had chosen Jesper to be one of his seconds was no surprise. Twitchy as Jepser was, with or without his revolvers, he was at his best in a fight, and she knew he'd do anything for Kaz.

idk why but i just love it every time kaz implies or shows that he cares or trusts jesper

But every one of Inej's senses told her that was not how this was going to play out. Her father would have said the shadows were about their business tonight. Something bad was going to happen here.

"Shut it" Oomen snarled. The rules of parley dictated that only the lieutenants could speak once negotiations had begun. Jesper mouthed "sorry" and elaboratedly pantomimed locking his lips shut.

hoestly poor jesper he had to watch hid friend get shot and kaz do nothing about it

Kaz could have tol Jesper that he knew he wasn't dirty, reminded him that he'd trusted him eough to make him his only real second in a fight that could have gone badly wrong tonight.

Kaz was usually unshakeable during a job, but now he was on edge, and Jesper didn't know why. Part of him wanted to ask, though he knew that was the stupid part, the hopeful farmboy who picked the worst possible person to care about, who searched for signs in things that he knew deep down meant nothing - when kaz chose him for a job, when Kaz played along with one of his jokes. He could have kicked himself. He's finally seen the infamous Kaz Brekker without a stich of clothing, and he'd been too worried about ending up on a pike to pay proper attention.

ok i got a couple of things to say about this part

first of all it makes me so sad that jes cares so much for someone who dosn't deserve him. because no hate to kaz but they would never work as a couple and kaz already treats him like shit most of the time

i think this part shows who a lot about who jesper really is. a boy that grew up having to hide parts of himself, who thinks he's worth nothing but it's smart and capable, who's loyal and brave and caring but doesn't even know it himself. he's someone who feels he doesn't deserve good things and thinks he's not good enough, and that's why he unds up in all the wrong places with the wrong people. he left uni bc he fell in with the gangs, because he didn't think he was smart enough or even prepared to be in studying in the university. jesper is constantly hiding behind a mask or running from things because he's scared of not being enough

an kaz is everything jes in a way wishes he could be. kaz is secure in himself (at least on the outside), he's stable, he's smart, he's "unshakeable". and most of all, he doesn't care about others (we know that's not true but that's how he presents himself)

and that's the thing that causes jesper all his problems. because he's insecure because he thinks he's not good enough for the poeple or things he cares about. and he's always trying to do what's best for his loved ones: he went to the ice court to pay his debt for his father, he follows kaz everywhere beacause he cares about him, he offered to read to wylan (knowing it wouldn't be easy for him to be still that long).

and yeah it often doesn't work out becuase he's messy and he has problems but he tries. and he hates that. he hates that he cares so much about people because at the end of the day, that's what makes him feel like he's not good enough

one more thing and i'm done i promise

unpopular opinion but i love that leigh made jesper have a crush on kaz. 1 beacuse it's refreshing to see someone not get otgether with his first crush. and 2 because i love that it shows that we sometimes get attached to people that are not good for us, but that we can learn to move on. jesper ended with wylan who respects him and values him, unlike kaz

Demolition Lovers

Summary: Remus is honestly kinda scary, but also kinda cute. So in an attempt to defy all the toxic restrictions placed on him throughout his life, the ever anxious perpetually terrified Virgil strides right up to this real life Disney villian and gets his number.

Warnings: Past child abuse (only one line), Virge is a bit spooked at first and there's referencing to the devil's tango plus a relationship that would be considered vaguely unhealthy by normal standards. But it's them and they're working on it.

A young man clad in black entered a coffee shop, hands shaking, the hoodie slung over his head keeping rain and eye contact alike away from him. Narrowing further in on a dark smudge across a wish-wash backdrop, the chinkling ring of a bell guided Virgil Subti into the nearest warm building as he managed to evade the downpour outside. Might as well have a cuppa coffee too.

Finally safe, he allowed himself a sigh of relief, only for it to lodge back, strong enough it caused his lungs to spasm. Virgil had spent his whole life being afraid. So it was safe to say that when he met Remus’ eye across the crowded Starbucks that first time, jumping out of his skin waged itself a reasonable reaction against that murky stare.

An undue overwhelming desire for his mother’s curry overtook him as he stepped further into the aromatics of coffee. He didn’t miss her, he didn’t miss wooden spoons on his face or an insistent screaming telling him who to be but he didn’t know what to do without her. Even after all these years. Anushka would tell him to look away, angle his eyes downwards, keep quiet and hide behind the long curtain of hair he’d long since gotten rid of. He couldn’t even call her ‘maan’ anymore. She wouldn’t have recognized him anyway and he was better for it.

For once without thinking, Virgil strode right towards the lip-pierced, tattooed, skull-shirted mass of dark skin and even darker eyes behind the counter, line of sight falling to an abandoned coffee cup. “Is this someone’s order?”

Remus, as his name tag had supplied, gave a slow lazy grin like the Cheshire cat’s. Virgil could swear he saw hints of blood on those pointed teeth, glinting in the shop’s lights, promising threats. “Not if you’re the one who’s asking, emocake. I can whip another one right up.”

Get up get up get up get up!

Virgil ignored the mantra in his brain even as it sang on.

Run away run away run away!

As he busied himself with fixing a new coffee, Remus’ voice held the air with a rasp, high-pitched and grating to hear. “Come here often?”

“I haven’t decided yet,” Virgil paused for effect, taking a sip of bitterly cold brew as he crossed his legs on the rolling chair. “That depends on if you come here often.”

Remus cackled and it resounded in Virgil’s ribs, loud and unabashed, something oddly fascinating in the way it resembled a Disney villain’s laugh. Virgil smiled, another knot in his shoulders loosening.

“I myself just recently moved from home.” He attempted a laugh in return, with great emphasis on his attempt. The wheezed whistle gurgling out of his chest bore no resemblance to that carefree sound. Then again, Virgil had never been carefree. “Long way away so you’ll be seeing me around plenty.”

“Where’s home?”

Maybe with Remus, though, he could be. Though his words themselves were light they felt predatory, the way his voice muffled everything else to muted whispers demanding an answer where a refusal wasn’t permitted. Virgil wanted to give freely, make his own choice in this, no matter how bad it may be. No matter how much Anushka would disapprove. And so he did. “India, south of Raipur.”

That grin froze on Remus’ broad features. The narrow mysterious eyes, pointed nose and the faint stubble shadowing over the curling lips that resembled less a smile and more a snarl. Beautiful, in an odd sort of way.

“Remus Martinez,” he drawled, extending his hand. A muted, inky red covered his nails and as Virgil reached out, he met paper dry skin, calloused enough to cut into his.

“Virgil,” he said in a daze, blinking slowly at the light bronze pressed against his deep sepia, at how perfectly they fit. “Virgil Subti.”

Virgil left with a number sprawled across the palm of his hand in permanent ink that day, a messy chicken scratch script that dug with reckless abandon into his skin. A brand he would cherish for weeks to come.

Remus gave Virgil everything he wanted. Whether nights spent drowning his pain in skin, in knife-sharp hips, teeth at his throat and nails digging across his back, or cuddles infused with sweet nothings whispered late into the night, sometimes harsh truths, other times pretty lies. All there, laid out before him in a maddening juxtaposition against everything Remus acted like to the outside world. Rude, blunt and abrasive, sincere and open only for Virgil in a way he’d only ever dreamed of. A carnage of common sense.

Virgil knew this wasn’t well, entirely healthy. His dependence on the other gave him hours sick to his stomach and heart, eyes burning, head pounding, but they still pushed on. Together. Because, in his addled state of mind after their sweat had cooled, Virgil reminded himself of the striking resemblance between them, the understanding no one else could make sense of. The comfort two castaway souls found in each other’s company.

Remus’ core, rotten and defective through and through, reeked a bit worse each day that passed. To everyone else, at least. Virgil always found him beautiful, beautiful like silvery scars and glimmering glass shards.

Remus’ voice rang through their apartment every night long after what would be considered acceptable by anyone else’s standards. You could never shut him up. Virgil never wanted him to, but he still occasionally pulled that ever-babbling mouth to his mid sentence, if only to taste that sharp grin, if only to have Remus lick the coppery tang away from his boyfriend’s lip the moment after he bit into it.

Maybe between the two of them and even in the face of society’s rejection, they could work something out.

I'm bored and can't sleep and have no idea if any of my friends are awake (if you are please talk to me) so I'm gonna talk about demolition lovers

It's one of my favorite songs, and it's my favorite song off bullets. First off I'm just in love with not only Gerards voice but the way they sing it. The palpable emotion in their voice, how they go from something that kinda soft and builds up to something akin to desperation. Or maybe it just is that. It really just paints "the demolition lovers" really well in my mind. The lyrics include some of the best lyrics of all time in my opinion on their own but when you add in Gerard singing and the guitar, which adds so much to the song by the way, it's really so fucking good man, like you hear the guitar and the drums and everything swell as they get louder and then that one part where it just cuts off with Gerard screaming "until the end of every-" and we get the guitar that kinda reminds me of how it was at the start but it's different and then Gerard starts up with "all we are is bullets..." part and the energy goes back up, but it's not the sample kind of energy you get from a song like party poison for example. It's the kind of energy you get after having a shit day and something happens that makes your adrenaline and your fight or flight kick in. It starts with "hand in mine into your icy blues" and ends with "I'll meet your eyes, I mean this forever" and it's kinda just brings it back to the beginning. And then it doesn't fade out, it just stops. It's the last song on the album and the end of the demolition lovers. They bleed out. They're done, so it's fitting that it finishes like it does. Yes I'm incoherent but you know what? Idc

ive seen ur posts mentioning u have thoughts on queer perspective towards death and how mcr fit into it so. if u ever decide to share other ideas on the topic id love to read it! (i think ur really good at getting your thoughts accross) (u dont have to answer btw i just wasnt sure abt shooting a dm abt this)

it’s been so long i’m so sorry um i have a lot of thoughts idk if u still want them here’s an attempt at a short version...

edit: changing this to under a cut cuz it’s insanely long. if u don’t feel like reading almost 1.5k words probably don’t read it.

basically i think that mortality and death are very common things for all humans to think about and make art about because we’re kinda... obsessed with and extremely afraid of death. which (i think) stems from how death is one of the few things we know is going to happen to us, and yet we can’t understand it really. we know it is the end but we cannot know anything about it because it is the end. so that intrigues us (and makes us afraid) and then u can add in how we see other people in our life die before we do... basically it all adds up to us being obsessed with understanding and defying our own mortality somehow.

we can see this theme in mcr a lot, the interplay between mortality and defiance and hope... i call it hope vs inevitability and i think it’s especially noticeable in bullets and danger days, because in the other two they’re not really fighting so much as existing side by side... i wrote in notes once that in those albums, the hope is in the inevitable...

in black parade it’s pretty much totally like this; after you die you join the black parade, and your memory will carry on. there is fear going into it, but it very much feels like an album accepting and even embracing the end, not fighting it. accepting it and embracing it with this crazy tone... come one come all to this tragic affair. wipe off that makeup, what’s in is despair... (note: i used to think that line was what sin is despair and i still wonder if that was on purpose). revenge is a bit more complex but i have always thought that beyond the hope of getting the girl back, of bringing her back to life (against the end, against death and mortality) there must also be some relief in death for the guy demo lover... if you would kill a thousand men to get your lover back from the dead, would you die to meet them there? <- maybe i’m wrong; there is still hope vs inevitability here.

in danger days and bullets, though, is where i feel like we see those things ultimately fight; in bullets we have this desperate desire to be immortal and mean something, coupled with the strong feeling that you will die with nothing. that you will die. (i have a post on this theme in the song demolition lovers). then, in danger days we see this theme come with this absolute denial of mortality (killjoys never die) coupled with this intense fear of death and being remembered wrong or not at all. and of course this culminates in them dying. (here is my post on this theme in danger days it’s kinda a mess but so is this post so whatever).

right so we’ve established mcr (and humanity in general) is obsessed with mortality we already knew that though. what does it have to do with queerness.

basically there’s a couple things.

1. the connection of both otherness and love with death (note: this also applies to a lot of minorities but queerness is what’s really applicable to mcr specifically). the extent to which mcr intertwines narratives of love and otherness with death and violence is.... a lot. we see it in every album, i believe; it’s most noticeable in bullets in drowning lessons and demo lovers, in revenge in so many songs i’m not going to try to list them, in black parade in cancer, wttbp and my way home is through you, and in danger days in save yourself, only hope for me, and scarecrow. this was just off the top of my head; there’s probably more songs with examples of this.

this is very queer (at least when done by mcr; as most of mcr is white the issues that come with things like the history of interracial marriage, etc. don’t really apply) because of how for queer people our identities and love can be deadly to us... the history of queer love and identity is obviously marked with violence against the people displaying that love and identity.

straight cis white guys don’t usually talk about death with the connection with love at the forefront, at least not that i’ve seen. every once in awhile they do, i guess, if they’re talking about grief, but otherwise, no. demo lovers is my favorite example of the connection of love with death; especially in the first couple verses, the two seem so linked. the first 2 mentions of death or the end in the song are immediately followed by “with you”... “i’d end my days with you in a hail of bullets,” and “i would drive on to the end with you.”

in the whole demo lovers arc, through bullets and revenge, the themes of death and love are so intertwined it’s impossible to untangle them. if i tried to make a post of all the times in revenge death and love are talked about in the same lyric, as if one thing, i would be screenshotting lyrics all night. of course, if we bring in gwgt theory, and start thinking about how the girl and guy demo lovers are a metaphor for gerard’s relationship with his gender, we can go way further with this too. the simultaneous love story involving these parts of himself, and intertwined violence and death. the fear present... the lyrics that talk at the same time about hurting yourself and being hurt by others... but that’s a different post, really. i’m gonna try to stay more surface level. no speculating on metaphors (today).

in black parade i think we see the connection of otherness with death a lot more than the connection with love, although they’re both still present... in danger days the concept of otherness when associated with death is super clear: killjoys defy the city and become something “other,” which is scorned and hated by BLI/nd, and they get killed for it. love is also a pretty common theme in danger days songs, often intertwined with death, though less obviously than in revenge.

2. just... the extent to which this idea of mortality and death and immortality and memory is talked about is interesting in itself i think. this obsession with our legacy and our mortality is present in a lot of stuff, not just queer stuff, but it’s just everywhere in mcr’s discography (and a lot of the subsequent groups of music related to/associated with mcr, which are also often known for being queer). they constantly talk about how they’ll die, and how they’ll die sooner rather than later, and can they live forever anyway, what does immortality mean after all, will they be remembered, what will their legacy be... etc.

memory and legacy is something i haven’t really talked about, but i think it’s also essential to the conversation. for obvious reasons queer people (and people of a lot of other minorities but i’m only talking about the queer part cuz it’s the most/the only applicable thing here) have a more complicated relationship with how we’ll be remembered and whether we’ll be remembered than cishet people do. how mcr talks about this reminds me a lot of the sappho fragment tumblr passes around ever so often... “someone will remember us / i say / even in another time.” (comparison/parallels post of mcr lyrics and that quote by @milfygerard (and added onto by me) here.)

and that brings us back around to the theme of hope vs inevitability... as i mentioned earlier, this theme isn’t necessarily totally queer on it’s own, but as with talking about memory and legacy the way mcr does, if you talk about it so much that it becomes a core theme in all of your albums it ends up feeling a lot more queer than before. hope vs inevitability in mcr’s work connects to love and death and both at once and is just everywhere. and it ends up connecting to the way a lot of queer people think about our death and our mortality and our hope. and how the future and the past are thought about in connection to these themes i think is kind of queer too — when your history is barely spoken and your present is in hiding, of course you look to the future. despite that that means looking towards the ending. and maybe you embrace that ending, because what else is there to do?
