Thanksgiving Transformation Nightmare - Part Three

(This was supposed to come out before Thanksgiving, but time slipped away.)

BlueLite on main was the hottest gay bar in town. Next week is Thanksgiving so they are hosting a special Thanksgiving theme party. “Dress as your Parents” since so many people go home for thanksgiving. However, BlueLite has special powers. Let’s follow some of our friends on their life changing adventure.

Jason hated having to go home now since his mother passed away. His father never approved of him being gay. He was a conservative garbage man and a huge conspiracy theory believer. Before his mom died, Jason promised his mom he would return home and celebrate Thanksgiving every year with his father. So, he was out celebrating with his buds and getting wasted before he had to go home.

“Jason, that outfit looks great on you. You just need to not shower and you will smell just like a garbage man too,” said his friend, Lance.

“Lance, you know first hand how much I enjoy my shower!”

“Go and get us more drinks. You are paying tonight!”

“Okay, deal. Stay tight.”

Jason went to the bar and order another round of vodka tonics and a lime life twisted shot.

He carried them all back to his friends, and he downed his shot before starting on his vodka tonic.

Jason closed his eyes for a minute, and while he did the music stopped. He was confused, and when he opened his eyes, everyone was frozen.

“The fuck,” he said.

Then his stomach started gurgling. He felt like he was going to throw up, and he stared horrified as his stomach expanded. It grew and grew and hung way over his waist line. Then he felt a beard grow in on his face. He always had facial hair, but this was an unruly, long beard. A mustache came into shape too and curved at the end. Jason was freaking out and felt his head, and realized it was smooth. All of his hair was gone. He looked back down at his beard and saw that it had turned gray. He felt himself aging up and up and up, stopping in his late 50’s. He burped and his breath reeked of beer. His stomach gurgled once more and finally stopped growing. His costume had expanded with him, and he saw that there were now stains on the front. He turned and looked in the mirror. He could have been a twin for his father. An old, fat, bald, disgusting garbage man. He wanted to vomit. Suddenly new memories flew into his mind. He now remembered being a garbage man for life. He loved to be dirty. He loved his smell. He was a super conservative man and hated the gays. No red-blooded man would ever love another man.

Then the world unfroze. Jason was confused where he was. All of his friends were confused why there was an old garbage man next to them. Jason realized he was in a gay bar, and waddled out of there to his new life in his trailer home. He couldn’t spend one more moment around those people.

Lime life twisters are delicious. Who else wants one!?

imagine:

dazai stood at the alter, waiting patiently for you. everyone he knew looking up from the crowd as (probably) kunikida officiated, he was rather nervous. of course, not to marry you. he had been waiting for this day since he met you. he was nervous for life after marriage.

but he heard the music start playing, and suddenly everything went silent as you emerged from the large double doors at the end of the walkway. his eyes finally got to meet yours as he had been waiting for since eight last night. you looked beautiful, there was no denying it. nor was there anyway in hell his eyes were coming off of yours.

you grinned at him in response, walking up as you felt all eyes on you, but that didn't matter at this moment. because the love of your life was waiting for you at the end of this excruciatingly long walk. and you were excited. chuuya was behind you, throwing petals rather aggressively while mumbling things under his breath.

his hands gripped yours hastily as you reached the alter, the cold metal of your promise ring against his hands as kunikida began speaking,

"kenji, can i have the rings?" and on cue, kenji brought the rings to him, the both of you putting them on eachother as you smiled ear-to-ear.

(idk how weddings go so i'm skipping to the vows.)

"i will love you until the day i die, [f/n]. i have since the day i met you, and i will until i take my last breath." he spoke softly, "now, will you join me in a double suicide?" you could only smack him in response.

"alright, go on. kiss her."

he didn't hesitate as he grabbed your face, his lips soft against yours as he mumbled something. "i love you."

as did you.

no doubt, he's wearing the most lavish of red and black suits tailored to fit him perfectly

whereas you wear something similar. dark themed colours

alcohol at every corner

black out drunk at your wedding. no denying that

surprisngly, no after party. he wants to get drunk in his own home

small venue, maybe about 50 people

violin music playing, some classical songs that he loved as a teenager

would carry you bridal style out to the car

it's probably his motorcycle.

the exhilarating feeling after his wedding relaxes him

he would have a red flower to put in your hair

or he would wear his hat and put it on your head as he carried you out

as well as dazai, he wrote his own vows

but his were all based around the future

like how much he loved you and how he wanted to start a family n stuff

the flower girl would be elise

his best man would either be dazai or no one else

you had gin and higuchi

he bought you the fanciest ring you can imagine. i'm talking REAL diamond. you only deserve the best after all

this was your first OFFICAL time meeting dazai and you can understand why chuuya hated him.

his first words to you were

"10/10 would bang" which resulted in him getting punched

imagine:

chuuya watched the doors to the venue open up slightly, everyone in the room started to stand as the music of his favourite musician played in the background.

when you came into view, he was certain he was going to die on the spot. you looked amazing in his eyes, and he couldn't wait a second longer to be your husband. he was excited for you to take his last name, it made him feel accomplished.

when you stood in front of him, he finally felt happy and at peace. the way yours eyes shimmered, the way you smiled at the site of him had him melting. you had him wrapped around your finger and both of you were aware of it. but he loved every second of it.

when everything began, he accidentally let out a tear. he was just so happy that he could finally call you his. he had dreamt of marrying you for over a year, and now, that dream became a reality.

the red lights around the place dimmed slightly as you began reading out your vows. the ones you'd spent three and a half weeks writing. but how was he supposed to focus when you looked this good infront of him?

when it was his turn, he said-

"fuck it, just marry us already."

but he told you his when you got home.

Good morning everyone! The cross-dimensional internet has been quite slow as of late so this post may reach you late. I went to a party today and I got all dolled up. There was a slight theming of the 1950s, but I wasn’t around during that era so I went to the library to get an authentic look! I don’t think I did all that well, though.

The party was great! Got to hear a bunch of new tunes. Sounded a lot more modern than I’d expect from the 50s, but according to a friend I met, a lot of the songs were ‘remixes’.

Oh, speaking of which! I met this nice lady named... actually, I don’t know her name. She says she’s trying to start a new life like me! Don’t worry, I asked permission to post this photo. She was a joy to hang around with. Loved her adventurous attitude, got me to try lots of different things! Including drinks, haha! You can probably tell I drank a lot by the photo.

You know, she kinda looks familiar... Like those cup folk that Bendy has been all over. His husband also mentioned something about a Chalice going missing or something? And my friend there is a Chalice... I know I’m not supposed to really be looking at @lill-cute-fluffy-devil ‘s blog since Bendy doesn’t seem to like me all that much, there. But, I just gotta get to the bottom of this! She exchanged numbers with me so I’ll ask her as soon as I can. I know she told me she’s trying to build a new identity, but if she is Chalice, I feel like it ain't right to leave your friends wondering if you’re alive or not.

It’s been a few days since Eddie’s private guitar lesson in your room became… something else. Of course you didn’t let it go very far because well you’re you and you don’t let just anyone have you that easily. You had made an excuse to leave the privacy of your room, saying something like “a hostess can’t disappear from her own party.” Eddie laughed and followed you back downstairs, “ok princess, but just so you know-” he turned you to face him at the top of the stairs, before everyone’s eyes would be back on you, “this isn’t over.” He’d said softly, his pointer finger gesturing to the space between you two.

You’ve been thinking about Eddie everyday since. Absentmindedly humming the songs he played on your dad’s guitar. You stare down at your plate of fries and push them around as you sit in the booth of the local 50’s themed diner with your three brainless friends. You haven’t contributed to the conversation for a few minutes, distracted instead replaying in your mind the moment in your room when Eddie pulled you to sit in his lap. His heavy rings nipping coldly as they skimmed across your skin. The way his chest felt against your back when he laughed, the way his lips latched to your neck in that spot that makes your eyes roll back. The way he didn’t rush or pressure you into anything, just explored and got familiar with your body like he was committing it all to memory.

“Y/n? Hellooo? Are you even listening?” “Yeah.. m’just thinking about school.” you say, popping a fry in your mouth. Your excuse works and they move on to some other pointless topic. You are worried about senior year starting, a few days away. But then you remember the thought you’ve been trying to push away for the last couple days: Eddie goes to Hawkins High. I go to St. Catherine’s private school outside of town. He probably has plenty of girls to distract him at his school. He probably hasn’t even thought about me since my party. Why would he?

“I swear dude, we went up to her room and…” “And what?” Steve asks Eddie, a bit agitated but trying to hide it in his voice, hand gripping the steering wheel tighter as his eyes narrow. Eddie’s eyes soften as he stares ahead, remembering you that night, his mouth curving into a crooked grin. “We were talking and… she kissed me.” Steve couldn’t believe his ears. You, his best friend, the princess who lives next door kissed Eddie?? You barely let guys even hug you and after one night you’re having a secret rendez vous with Hawkin’s number one freak? Why hadn’t you told him? You’ve hung out everyday since your party. “There’s no way man. Y/n is like a total prissy prude.” Steve laughed, hand waving around for emphasis. Eddie shrugged. “I don’t know man, she seemed pretty into me.” Eddie wiggled his eyebrows at Steve. “I’ve never seen her go out with a guy with.. your style.” Eddie looked at Steve with a grin “Well maybe you don’t know her as well as you think you do, big boy.” he says, giving Steve’s shoulder a playful soft punch as they pull into the gravel parking lot.

The jingle of the bells above the diner door pulls your attention up from your fries. The world felt like it went into slow motion while your heart began to beat faster than you think it ever has. Eddie and Steve walked in, standing at the podium waiting to be sat. You slump down in the booth on reflex and push your plate away from you, knocking over your friends shake. “Shit y/n!” She yells. You ignore her and watch as they’re led by the hostess to sit on the shiny red vinyl covered stools at the counter. “What is going on with you?” Your friend snaps. You shush her and waive your hand, motioning for them all to shut up. They roll their eyes and do as they’re told. Sitting up, you grab the shiny metal napkin holder from the end of the table and use it as a mirror to apply fresh lipgloss. You take a deep breath, smooth down your hair and pull the tank top under your matching cardigan down to reveal more cleavage. Thank God I wore a cute outfit today. “How do I look?” You ask your three friends as their eyes stare at you in confusion. “Hot.” they all say in unison. You nod and say “Stay here.” as you stand and approach the two boys.

Steve and Eddie are staring into their menus as you walk up behind them and let out a soft “Hi.” They both spin around in their seats, “oh hey you!” Steve smiles as he leans forward and pulls you into a hug. Your eyes meet Eddie’s and that familiar tingley feeling returns to your tummy. “You uh.. remember Eddie.” Steve says dryly as he releases you, one hand still on your lower back. “Of course! Hi Eddie.” You say, stepping away from Steve to stand in between Eddie’s spread thighs, snaking your arms around his neck to pull him into a tight hug. You hug him longer than you hugged Steve and Eddie’s eyes go wide as he looks at Steve, one hand leaving your waist to point in the air at you as he mouths “see?”. Steve rolls his eyes with a nod. “How are you doing princess?” Eddie asks you with a wide smile. You stand close to him, his hands rest on your waist, thumbs finding the sliver of skin between your top and your jeans. “So good.. actually do you think I could talk to you?” Your eyes flit to Steve’s. “In private?” Eddie begins to nod but Steve cuts him off. “Actually can we talk for a second in private?” He asks you. You furrow your brow at him, but he grabs your wrist and leads you to an empty booth.

“What the hell y/n? You and Eddie? Why didn’t you tell me?” “I don’t know.. I don’t tell you everything that happens in my life Steve.” He scoffs “Uh yeah I know but this feels kind of important. I mean I introduced you guys.” “Well actually no you didn’t. You brought him to my party without asking and I met him by myself.” “Well clearly that worked out.” You sneak a look over Steve’s shoulder back at Eddie, just as he’s taking a big bite of cheeseburger. “Why do you care?” You ask Steve. “I don’t! I just… I don’t know, I thought we were close. Me and you. And… I just didn’t think you kept secrets from me.” Steve sounded genuinely hurt and normally his puppy dog eyes looking at you like this would make you melt but you’re too distracted. You just want to get back to Eddie. “Look, I’m sorry that you feel like I kept it from you but I figured Eddie would tell you anyway. And he did so no big deal right?” Steve shook his head, giving you a tight lipped fake smile. “Right.” “Good” you smiled. “Now do me a big favor and sit here while I talk to Eddie. I’ll tell the waitress to bring your burger over here.” You get up without waiting for a response and walk back over to Eddie, sitting down softly on the stool next to him.

“Is everything ok?” Eddie asks you, eyes soft with worry as he wipes his mouth with the back of his hand, burger already gone. “Yeah, everything’s fine. Steve’s just a little dramatic sometimes.” you say with a laugh. Eddie nods in agreement glancing over at his friend. “I’m glad I came to this silly diner.” he says reaching a hand out to rest on your knee. “Me too. How’ve you been since..?” Eddie smiles wide, “I’ve been good I’ve been… thinking about you a lot.” he says, big brown eyes focusing on yours so intensely you feel lightheaded. “Was going to ask Steve for your number so I could call you and take you out. But now I can do that in person.” He slides forward on the spinny stool, gliding his hands up your thighs to turn your body towards his. Goosebumps erupt under your jeans and you feel your face warm at his familiar touch. “Where does the princess of Hawkins want to go?” Anywhere. As long as I’m with you. All your favorite restaurants fly around your mind. White tablecloths, napkins that match your pants, wine sommeliers and black pepper grinders, tiny candles and long stemmed flowers on the tables. But as you look at the cute metal head in front of you, you know he’d be out of place there. And he probably couldn’t afford a $250 dinner. And for the first time, that doesn’t matter to you. “Why don’t we go see a movie?” you say as you grab the waitress’s notepad and pen she left on the counter. You scribble your number down and bring the paper up to leave a pink sticky kiss mark on it. Eddie watches you, grip on your thighs tightening. “Y-yeah. Whatever you want baby. My treat. All the candy and popcorn you can eat too!” He says smiling wide. You slide the note over to him.

“Y/n! We’re done here, Steve’s already tried to ask each of us out and it’s getting kind of sad.” Your friends voice growing louder as they all click their heels on the tile towards you. One of them pulls your sleeve as she gives Eddie a disgusted look. He smiles politely back at her. “Yeah yeah we’re going.” you say as they head to the door, bell jingling again. “Tomorrow night?” Eddie nods, a hand coming up to hold your cheek. His eyes drop to your lips and he pulls you into a gentle yet deep kiss, his tongue moving between your parted lips and massaging yours. His lips are so soft and his tongue is even softer, even if he tastes like cheeseburger and cherry coke, this is the best kiss you’ve ever had. He leans back, eyes still closed for a second before looking back to yours, “Until tomorrow princess.”

5SOS5 (Deluxe version) track by track overview

Who I have gathered each song is primarily written by/whose story.

As of May 8, 2023 (can always change of course where I’m still unsure in a few places, I remark where).

"Complete Mess" - Luke brought the romantic “you make me complete” chorus, Ash and Cal went and wrote the verses. So basically Luke and Ash, it’s their story together. Ash has the pic of Luke wearing the associated shirt on his phone, ready to show people.

"Easy for You to Say" - Ash wrote the topline (aka lyrics). Which is cool because that’s who I suspected the first time I heard it on their tour. It sounds like his writing. It’s about wanting to settle down in Australia.

"Bad Omens" - possibly Ash wrote, he’s also replied about it on twitter to a fan saying it’s about letting go of people in your life (he also gave the director idea for the music video), I have suspicions though that its about Michael and Calum’s relationship because of hints in the music video. The main character is wearing an earring like Michael. Reference to brown eyes (Crystal’s are blue, Cal’s are brown)

"Me Myself & I" - has a Michael feel to it but I’m not 100% on this one. Being selfish and self sabotaging and excessive lying.

"Take My Hand" (Joshua Tree version) - Luke credited as sole writer, it’s about his own transformational experience.

"Carousel" - Ash, no one talks about lyrics that passionately unless they write them (see the Making of Carousel video), also pay attention to how Luke and Ash are towards each other. “Epic voice” heart eyes ❤️, “epic song”, then Luke singing like Nickelback (shared fave band of theirs).

"Older" (featuring Sierra Deaton) - Luke and Sierra wrote the start of a take on 50’s love songs, then after Luke jokingly sent a voice note to Michael, he pushed them to finish it. Stunt song, but they shaded it for music video. Ash dances with a BLONDE curly haired lady as his partner. At end of video only see the back of a female with Luke for a few seconds. Should’ve been Luke and Ash duet.

"Haze" - not sure, Ash said it took the longest time to write. The part where Luke and Ash are singing to each other about when they’re together don’t have to play pretend. “And when you pick me up, now I don't have to play pretend, And I am human once again”

"You Don't Go To Parties" - Ash, wanting someone who isn’t right there. Reference to 5 years, it’s possible when they finally locked it down since they moved in together (2017) 5 years from when this song was released. Then, there’s the blue sapphire ring (5 year anniversary) that showed up on Ash’s hand where he had been wearing the matching with Luke black onyx ring, on 5sos5 listening party day. Can also have a theme relating to sobriety changing how you relate with partying.

“Blender” - seems to be Calum?

"Caramel" - Luke and Ash written, with John Feldmann for production, Cal for bassline. Lashton love song dealing with how life has gotten more complicated “it used to be easy” but they've been in love so long "It's been a while since you and I have been where we started, I don't want to let it fade away" don’t want to give up on how they’ve felt since the beginning of falling in love “don’t like it fake, I relate, I think it’s true love”. “Love like a landslide, I kiss you Goodnight”, Saying at the end of the day, I still love you. Possibly connected with Fleetwood Mac “Landslide”, sonically the guitar strumming is similar. Ash is a big fan of FM. Landslide about Nicks’ romance with bandmate Buckingham.

“Best Friends” - the whole group, written late in the album making process about their own friendship and to give fans a camaraderie song.

“Bleach” - written with Sarah Aarons, was originally a jingle pitch for Clorox. I'm unsure if to connect this with anything or what to connect it with. Sometimes, a song is a song.

“Red Line” - Ash being melancholy, The Red Line was the train the boys took while living in London, to their songwriting sessions (and whatever else in the area they needed to get to).

“Moodswings” - All 4 have credit. Response to Luke’s “Slipping Away”? Seems to parallel in concept to that song a bit. My suspicion is the lyrics are written by Ash and Luke, Cal for the bassline and/or helping with cohesive lyrics, then Michael for production.

“Flatline” - Ashton wrote, when asked what it was about during the youtube live, Luke slid the laptop towards Ash to answer. I think Ash wrote it for himself about Luke (with a dark twist to it like he did with Complete Mess).

“Emotions” - Michael?, During Ash ig live, right after the line "I don't wanna think about it, Maybe that's why I'm always high”, Ash said “it’s about me”. Possibility it’s not written by Michael, it was just Michael who sang it because he sounded the best. The guys have said they choose who sings certain parts by who sounds the best at it.

“Bloodhound” - not sure. Too much coincidence with Ash solo album song titled “Greyhound”. So could be Ash.

“TEARS!” - Ash, of course. “Diamond tears”. Is it a coincidence Luke has a song called “Diamonds” on WFTTWTAW? Doesn’t feel “alive” and is “crying”. Why such torment? Depression/sadness and how alone it can make you feel.

How Final Fantasy X left me with so many emotions.

This is my first time playing a Final Fantasy game.

AHHH HA-HA

Tidus's antics either left me stunned or amused. Like whining about food in the underwater ruins then nearly choking to death on the food Rikku gives him. Launching the Blitzball into the sea, and kicking that one kid's into the plains along the highroad. Play fighting with Waka while Yuna was making her case to the Ronso, whatever the hell was happening in the background of one of the temples and just so much more. Nice character. Very Himbo.

Fell in love with the soundtrack after hearing the Besaid theme.

First time crying was when Waka was telling Tidus how much he reminded him of Chappu and then receiving Brotherhood.

I laughed when Tidus told the priest at the temple he didn't give a damn about their traditions and wanted to help Yuna.

Valefor is best girl. She killed Anima and the stone defender before Mt. Gagazet. She was the last one I sacrificed.

I was surprised to see chocobos powering the S. S. Liki. I also liked running in circles with the kids before their mom scolded them. The Jecht shot took what, 50 tries?

Felt a little heartbroken after failing to save Kilika. At least I got to save that one kid on the docks.

Got to the woods and "Calm Before the Storm" hit me like a ton of bricks after not hearing it for years.

Not fair how the boys start the race before you can move.

Damn the Luca Goers.

Ifrit is best demon dog/boar thing. He killed Spherimorph after it got stuck on fire spells. Loved how he carried Yuna on his shoulder.

Luca was fun to explore, especially when I got to annoy the reporter lady.

I believe in the Aurochs, even if I never won a game or scored a goal. Blitzball unfortunately combines the two things I'm bad at, sports and math.

As soon as I saw Seymour I thought, "villain".

I kept wondering when O'aka XXIII was going to pay me back the 400 gil I loaned him. Apparently he just gave the money to a random Al Bhed woman. Regardless, I was overjoyed to see him freed from jail and cried when he told the story of his sister.

I didn't know I was ordering a death sentence on Gatta or Luzzu, I just wanted to give Gatta sensible advice. At least Lulu got to hear the truth and Waka got a good swing in before Luzzu got sliced in half.

I forgot I had Yuna's Nulshock ability so Sinspawn Gui was probably a lot harder than it had to be. I forgot I had most of my abilities a lot of the time so I just kept relying on Haste.

When I first heard "Wandering Flame" I felt this immense sorrow and sense of failure. The Crusaders fought so hard only for it to all amount to nothing. Wondered what anyone could do to beat Sin. Hearing Gatta scream and breakdown hit me hard.

Ixion is best electric unicorn. Once I remembered his element was lightning the Thunder Plains were much easier.

Why can't I pet the little lemurs bouncing around Djose Temple, Square??? They were begging to be picked up!

I went back around the map before the final battle and those two guards who pretend to arrest you are probably my favorite NPCs. Along with O'aka of course.

Yuna's little bedhead incident got a laugh out of me. It was nice to see the party joyful for once. This was the point when I started to get invested in them.

Going back to Guadosalam I felt bad for the Guado, especially when the Blitzball player apologized on behalf of them all. I enjoyed Tromell's suffering though.

I was against Seymour's marriage proposal from the start.

I cried three times at the Farplane. First with Waka talking to Chappu while Lulu looked on. Then with Yuna talking to her parents and asking Tidus about his. And finally with the parents who were visiting their son after Operation Mi'ihen.

Now that I think about it the concept of the Farplane is kinda messed up.

I was very tempted to choose the third option when Lulu warned Tidus not to fall for Yuna.

I HATE love the Thunder Plains. Between getting ambushed every five seconds and the lightning strikes I haven't been this frustrated with a game since the sliding walls in the Spirit Temple in OOT.

I did cry when Auron told Tidus that Jecht does indeed love him. Was nice to see Jecht's changes throughout the story because of Braska's and Auron's influences.

Yes, the cutscene of storming Bevelle is cool, but boy was it a nerve wracking experience with no save spheres. Stupid flamethrowers, stupid robots. Auron was the only one I had left and he was nearly finished. Luckily his armor break ability was enough to destroy the final robot. I breathed a huge sigh of relief.

I smiled when Kimahri helped Tidus open the door.

Bahamut is best dragon boy. I was in awe of his strength down in Via Purifico and he took the heat most of the time. I liked the way Yuna stood timidly behind him and the way he looked down on her.

Despite the whole betrayal thing, I was glad to see Isaaru and his brothers upon returning to Bevelle. Out of the gate Bahamut nuked Not Ifrit with his overdrive and pretty much handled the whole fight until Shiva took over for Not Bahamut.

Third was learning that Kimahri hugged her after Braska's death and her begging him not to leave after delivering her to Besaid and saying she likes his horn. Fourth was telling Waka and Lulu they're her big brother and sister and reminiscing about their childhood in Besaid. Finally thanking Tidus for letting her experience her first love.

The background music staying on in Zanarkand gave me this feeling of determination along with watching the pyreflies float about and thinking of the Fayth in the wall. I wanted to avenge them.

I cried over young Auron begging Braska not to go through with destroying Sin.

Jecht's battle was truly amazing. "Otherworld" got my heart pumping and I was on edge the whole time. One scary moment was when Jecht nearly nuked the party, but thankfully I had saved my one and only Mega Elixir. Yuna was the one responsible for defeating Jecht with Holy. They really needed the HD graphics for one frame of Tidus crying over Jecht.

Up until the moment I had to choose who to sacrifice I was in complete denial over the Aeons' ultimate fate. It was a bittersweet feeling in the end. I was happy they were getting to rest, but heartbroken that they were leaving Yuna.

I expected to cry during the final cutscenes, but Auron's "death" hit me the hardest. I kinda forgot he wasn't alive to begin with.

Final Thoughts:

I had zero expectations for what this game would be like. What I certainly wasn't expecting was it to become one of my favorite games of all time. Those five star reviews were right: it was an emotional journey. Bracing myself for a divisive X2. All and all I'm glad I chose it as my first Final Fantasy. Can't wait to see what else the series has to offer.

I'm going to try VIII next. I'll stumble my way through it but I'll probably have a good time regardless. I hear it's flawed but I like a good underdog and besides, I love XB2, if you wanna know what my tolerance for goofy stuff is.

they were so good!!! i was worried they would be a bit burned out after nearly 50 shows (dec 9 was supposed to be the final one of the run, until they added shows), but they sounded so energetic and everything felt so natural. 🥰🥰🥰 i also met someone in the queue to get things signed who said they sound a lot more spontaneous now compared to stavanger, so that was very reassuring to hear!

I would be nothing if not a shameless self-promoter :) This song is about visualizing myself crashing down into Penobscot Bay on a Cape Air Cessna. I wrote the lyrics to this song on my first flight with Cape Air which was incredibly foggy and overwhelming. As we cut through the clouds, an overwhelming calm reached me, and the lyrics are a meditation on death and finding peace with it.

Dennis Wilson — Pacific Ocean Blues

Growing up in Southern California, all I can say is I can relate to Dennis and the blues that often can accompany living in the region. The relentless sun and lack of seasons can really do someone in. Dennis, to his credit, correctly points out over and over in this song that the Pacific Ocean is blue. I appreciate his clear-eyed perception here.

Wilco + Billy Bragg — The Secret of The Sea

Wilco and Billy Bragg both have loomed large in my early musical education. Separately with their early records and then this Woody Guthrie collaboration. My brother and I went to Tulsa to visit Guthrie's museum a few years ago. While the Dylan one was put together more tastefully, I just remember relating to Guthrie as all his notebooks had endless amounts of mundane lists. This captured my heart as this is essentially all I do with my notebooks as well.

Yesterday's Doctor's appointment was short and good; we solidified my new dosage for my Thyroid medication at the 50 (over the 25 I was on) pending my bloodwork, since I've only just been on the full dose for a week now and need to be on for another 5 weeks before we can do it. But she went ahead and refilled at 50 since it's been working out great for me so far and I haven't been having any side effects.

She also asked where we were at on the Tubal Salpingectomy that I'd asked for the referral for; I let her know that we had the opportunity for my hearing aids finally and that since my hearing was more important to us and we were currently celibate anyways, that we opted for that instead. We can't pay for both at the same time, so I'm not going to pursue the Salpingectomy until after I've paid off the hearing aids in the next two years.

She was disappointed to hear I couldn't do the Salpingectomy after all because she knows I really wanted it despite her reservations- but she was really happy to hear about the hearing aids, since that was another referral she'd given me last year and we hadn't been able to move on it then like we wanted because we were still paying off the car at the time.

Short of that we double checked that my insurance card was sorted. and I talked to the front office about the new bill I got in the day before (great timing); it looks like insurance is finally processing things correctly, and they're back-dating appointment payments 🙏 So far April's been denied because it's too old. January and February, along with May through July, are all still pending approval. And August through to last month (October) have been approved and corrected.

They went ahead and just dropped April's bill entirely, since insurance won't cover it correctly. So now my bill with their office has dropped from nearly 1k down all the way to $450 now. But they don't want me to start paying on anything until we get the finalized results for the months that are still pending.

We also finally got an estimated delivery date for the part for the car. It's November 28th- which is still pretty far out, and that's disappointing. But like I told the poor guy we've been dealing with the whole time: At least we have a date now; last time we checked in, we had no date at all and the manufacturer still had it marked as "unknown" (or whatever it was) and wouldn't even allow us to put the car on the high priority list because of VOR, like usual. So it's still good news, even if disappointing news.

I'll just have to do my Thanksgiving shopping largely online. Which I'm not looking forward to because the shoppers never bother to pick things appropriately and always tell me items are out even when there's like 10 items in the store. But whatever. It is what it is.

Speaking of Thanksgiving: The party has now been increased all the way up to 8 people; My Step-Grandparents in Law (who are coming up all the way from Texas), my Parents in Law, my Brother in Law, my Husband and I, and now some random person from my Father in Law's Church Group who none of us have ever me but "whose had a rough year". All of which is fine by me, honestly; I can plan ahead for it, make a few modifications, and start saving my energy and making what I can ahead of time now, since I know about it all early enough.

But ... It's for a menu I was given free reign to create- and ultimately chose violence for in the form of a relatively "untraditional" 1930's themed monstrosity (save the things I'm being forced to have because other people are now contributing food as guests do) ... So this, uh ... Should be a very interesting Thanksgiving in more than a few ways 😂 This is honestly just what people get for giving someone whose special interest is vintage and antique history (nearly free) control over their holiday menus every year.

I don't think I'm going to start worrying too much about things until I get back from the Oddities Expo this weekend, however. Otherwise I'll just run myself into the ground and I won't be able to enjoy the Expo. And my old Covenmate and I have really been looking forward to it since our trip to Enid.

For the rest of this week, I think I'm just going to try and get what I can that won't perish grocery wise, do what I can to clean up downstairs in case my Grandparents in Law want to see the basement apartment this trip (since they didn't get the opportunity the last one), and work on re-writing my prayer book more slowly this time so that my handwriting's more legible; the last time I kind of rushed through some of the pages and it's made it hard to actually pray properly whenever I do those prayers each day. So I've gotta fix that.

i saw your post about gerard/costumes and just wanted to say it made me emotional and stuff kthxbye. i was wondering if you were comfortable elaborating on some of the costume parties you went to? they sound so cool and i wanna know what theme warranted a machine gun cheerleader.

omg!!!! ty and also i’d love to go over some of the most iconic ones, most of them are already in that post, but i’ll go over them in more depth:

the extra party: theme was extra af, this was a bday party for me entirely because i wanted to dress as a glitter cowboy. backless champagne strappy mini dress, layered with rhinestone gold mesh bra and rhinestone choker, gold cowboy hat with a tiara, pink velvet heels. there was a lot of fur and a lot of wigs at this party. had a gold glitter banner that said “happy bday cunt” which is still one of my favorite things i’ve ever custom ordered.

trashy lingerie party against capitalism: commonly known as lingerie party 1. exactly what it sounds like. at my friend’s parent’s house. the only chaser was one (1) purple gatorade that was already spiked and soy sauce. there was a lot of hooking up and a 6 person orgy in my friend’s parent’s bed. it was a legendary party but also a total shit show. pretty standard bra, panties, garter belt, thigh highs and heels. followed by lingerie party 2: the squeakquel, impromptu lingerie party, the red white and blue lingerie party, and the “dress to get screwed” party (very fun i had a belt around my throat that we used as a leash for multiple guests).

a very greasy homecoming: greaser/50’s inspired party complete with a rockabilly band that played on the porch, everyone had leather jackets and greased hair and switchblade combs. i wore a gunne sax pink strapless dress complete with tulle skirt and ruffled sweetheart neckline black flats and a leather jacket.

neonoir ((party)): a decadent neon night complete with all blue, pink, and red lighting and an insane playlist. i went full hotline miami in a letterman jacket, pig mask and baseball bat. there was a full sized glow in the dark skeleton in the bathroom (a recurring guest, his name is skelly, also married to the other recurring guest, a graffitied full sized mannequin without arms or a head named manny).

historical drag party: i don’t know what i even went as it was so long ago but i do remember that my friend came as edgar allen hoe and looked so like edgar allen poe that i nearly died. they had a raven and everything. i don’t even remember anyone else’s costumes.

different ways to die party: my 20th birthday and my favorite theme, probably the most poppin off party i’ve ever hosted. i painted bruises around my neck. my friend made me a miami vice werewolf cake. various costumes included: shark attack, struck by lightning, gunshots, slit throats, generally bloody and bashed. was a fuckin banger of a party, very cathartic.

the lcd soundsystem funeral party: a going away party for a friend. everyone wore black suits with skinny ties. i wore a black dress. we listened to lcd soundsystem all night. gradually dissolved until i almost walked face first into someone lighting hairspray on fire for fun. end of an era party.

alien pajama party: like it says. i still carry around a little alien toy in my jacket pocket because it’s lived in there since this party.

21st holy communion: double bday party/christening a new party house. wore a veil and a slip dress. ate vodka gummy bears from a giant bowl. insanely packed party, lots of randos (due to house location). notable for chairs breaking, the biggest after party slumber party, biggest hangover clean up crew, no sleep till brooklyn, and a friend voluntarily getting shot in the ass with a blow dart in the driveway.

hedonist party: roman/greek gods and goddesses party. i was mercury and had wings on my sandals and a little white tennis outfit i thought it was cute. lots of wine.

a very twin peaks party: we drank coffee and ate pie and had baguettes with butter and brie, dressed up and watched a bunch of twin peaks all day. this is actually different than when i was laura palmer (boy meets christmas 90’s television party), i was bobby briggs for this party it was a big gender moment for me.

old hollywood spooktacular: not a very successful theme i was primarily the only person dressed to occasion everyone else was just gothy. 19th bday. i have spoken about this before but my crush didn’t show up so i spent most of this party openly crying in front of all my guests and someone had gifted me a vibrating cock ring as a joke and i tied my hair up with it on vibrate while sobbing my little heart out. very iconic moment for me. it’s my party and i’ll cry if i want to swag.

internet royalty party: me and a couple friends were tumblr famous at this point in time so we had an internet royalty party to gas up our shitty little egos. took a shot every time someone walked through the door, ended up plastered in the first ten minutes, apparently i held a class on how to smoke cigarettes outside, had to be carried to the car.

sticker and glitter party: lmao we were washing out the glitter from our hair for months. i got a temporary glitter tat on my chest that didn’t completely go away for like 3 weeks and i had to go to class with it. the carpet never recovered.

80s christmas goth night: i went as an 80s goth marie antoinette with fishnets, velvet shorts, full black lace bustle train, velvet corset, and shoulder padded black blazer with white face makeup, pink cheeks, bottom eyeliner straight out to the edge of my face, and little black lips like a doll, piled all my hair up and had chains hanging from it. i gave a friend a lap dance to santa baby.

and finally: nye and halloween parties were kind of our fucking thing, the two biggest nights of the year. so machine gun cheerleader actually started out as an assassination nation costume but no one had seen the movie yet (it had come out the month before) so i changed it around to machine gun cheerleader. i have also been nurse 3d (at an event we call: shitshow halloween, literally so bad for every person there for entirely separate reasons), hellboy (my best costume to date), the attic bride from haunted mansion complete with a glowing beating red heart in my dress, jennifer check, most recently joan of arc which was an under appreciated costume imo. nye typically has a theme of extravagance but the only all out theme we’ve ever done was new year’s feve which was a disco party because my roommate and i had just watched saturday night fever and really vibed.

notable mentions: 2012 end of the world rapture party, big hair, various drag parties, hell, bad trip, murder mystery, the annual lotr marathon (we have to start at like noon), goth princess, century icons, end of the semester zombie party, scene kid karaoke, oh god i feel like there’s more but alas my memory hath failed me after close to 8 years of parties.

Max did not want to go home for Thanksgiving. He super conservative parents were hosting once again, and he could barely be in the room with them for more than 10 minutes without starting a fight, especially with his father. His father was a pencil pushing desk police officer at his hometown’s police department. He did next to nothing, and bled the government dry. He was the definition of ACAB. However, Max wasn’t going to miss the thanksgiving theme party at Bluelite.

Max was hoping for a fun last night in town before going home for Thanksgiving week.

“Yo Jake, give me another shot of these lime life twisters shots. Gotta go dance my ass off.”

Jake the bartender gave Max another shot. Max downed it and slammed the glass back on the bar. He grabbed his rum and coke, turned around to shake his way back to the dance floor, when he realized everyone was frozen.

“What the hell!”

Suddenly a wind whipped around Max and he started transforming. His abs that he had worked so hard on disappeared in a flash as the weight piled on. His whole body was packing on the fat. He felt a second chin form and his cheeks drooped down. He felt his head and all of his hair had disappeared. He was so confused and tried to take a drink, but found a thick, bushy mustache had formed on his face. Suddenly his back started killing him as he started aging rapidly, only stopping once he hit his late 50’s. His shirt barely covered his massive gut as it struggled to button up. A watch appeared on his massive wrist. Max turned around and looked in the mirror behind the bar and was shocked what he saw. A massively obese police officer, just like his father. He was shocked. He went to take a drink and realized his drink had turned into a donut. Suddenly, all the memories of his old life were replaced with this new life. Maxwell was a police officer who mostly sat at his desk each day, wasting taxpayer dollars. He had an unhappy wife at home and his kids barely talked to him because of his conservative values.

Suddenly, the world around him unfroze.

“Jake, keep the noise down. You fellow shopkeepers are complaining about the noise.”

“Sorry Officer M, but it’s a party. Either join in a get out.”

Maxwell sighed and walked back to his cop car to drive home. His favorite meal of the year was only a week away, and he had to ensure his little wife was already working on it.

some extended thoughts on gen 9 since i was gifted the game as an unintentionally late birthday gift 🤔 warning: it's long

context: i'm basically halfway through. i've gotten 4/5 titans, 4/8 badges, 2/5 star bases. my team's late 30's/early 40's. i do have a mew, but considering i got it at level 5 it's basically on the same standing as the rest of my party/obviously is not game breaking because this game doesn't give out TMs like candy like gen 8 (which, good choice tbh. kind of stinks that the TMs aren't infinite use, but I haven't used them enough to be that bothered by the choice. getting materials is easy enough, anyway)

also i've been ignoring the tera raid dens, for the most part. i've done like 2 of them solo, and? they're fine. a good way to make money if you need it since they drop things like pearls. probably easy to exploit for exp candies if you know what you're doing, but i'm not about cheesing games on my first playthrough of them

positives:

the music's alright! i miss having dedicated route themes, but what the game has to offer is fine enough. the smooth transition between area/battle music is a Very Nice Touch. some tracks are depressingly underused (looking at you, rival themes) but everyone knows that. the gym theme is a bop (aside from the one that plays at the end but. my thought on that are in a later section)

the auto battle feature?? also pretty good, i definitely prefer it than having to fight things one by one for exp. it's also extremely funny to see one of your mons just go absolutely ham and decimate a whole squad of pokemon. siccing mew at tauros that keep fucking running me down: cathartic

also not a point for or against the game but i've already found 3 shinies, lmao

mixed thoughts:

the balance of difficulty is fine (though this is with hindsight/knowing the "correct" order for the badges beforehand. if i went in totally blind, i would be singing a different tune). nothing's too strong or weak in a given area so long as you're in the correct level range, and the sheer amount of items you find lying around means you will not be wanting for potions or pokeballs, or even money. evo items are easy enough to find once you learn where they spawn. pokemon variance per area is also good and gives a good amount of options to pick through

however, if you are playing blind, it would be extremely easy to wander into an area or fight that is far above your level range, and that can be a frustrating experience. the game is paradoxically open world while having an absolute, linear path that players are expected to take (and usually don't). the nurses do not guide you to the next objective with your level/badge count in mind, they just tell you to go to whatever objective is closest iirc. would be a lot better if the badges had true scaling instead of fixed levels/difficulties

exploration/traversal leaves a lot to be desired. maybe it's because the map is already filled out at the start, maybe it's because aside from a few areas most spots look samey, maybe it's partially me not being great at keeping mental maps of areas (aphantasia), but getting around has basically amounted to "wandering around kind of aimlessly just so i can snag centers for later." i might've enjoyed it more if my progress for exploring was a little more tangible- like, let me see the map, but grey out the areas i haven't been to yet and fill it in with color/give a little notif ping that says when i've discovered a new (to me) area

*just as a disclaimer, i don't dislike open world game design. even though the areas were more like larger hubs, i think legends arceus had a pretty good balance, and i enjoy exploring in botw. in this game it's like. glaringly apparent when they're trying (key word being "trying") to keep you from getting to certain higher level areas via blocking the areas off with skills your bike dragon of choice will get later. which, i mean. if you don't want the player wandering into a level 50+ area when they're only level 14, just... don't put the level 50+ area a stone's throw away from the starter area? Just A Thought)

negatives:

i'm sorry. everyone says it. everyone knows this, but i have to say it too. oh my god this game runs like absolute butt cheeks. i am usually pretty tolerant towards spotty game performance so long as the experience as a whole is relatively stable, but this game runs like complete and utter poo poo. slow downs are constant and it's almost headache inducing when it's bad enough. i made the unfortunate decision to explore a water-abundant area. i am not going back there until i can get the titan, and after that i am never going back there ever

also FUCK veluza, me and my homies HATE veluza, that bitch needs to Fucking Leave. i'd threaten to filet it but it'd probably enjoy that

the music's fine, but the sound effect design is kind of shit. the little "ding" that plays when you navigate menus is really sharp, and i have to put the SE volume at a minimum so that it wouldn't be so grating to the ears. visual design of the game also leaves a lot to be desired, but again, nothing new and low-hanging fruit. the kind of cartoony/saturated look of the environments does not mesh that well with the semi-realistic textures of the pokemon. also i'm sorry, but i hate the finale/tera gym theme (the one that plays when the final pokemon is sent out). it's trying to be galar so bad with not nearly the same amount of charm or forethought

the lack of any real buildings/npc dialogue in towns outside of shops is palpable and as disappointing as i expected, smhh. none of them really stand out to me that much, and navigating through the larger ones are kind of annoying (but that could absolutely be a me thing, [gestures at section about exploration] )

it's extremely aggravating that this game's almost been out for a year, and aside from a handful of inconsequential bugs/one game breaking bug that they literally could not ignore, the game is still basically in the exact same state as it was at launch. this is genuinely embarrassing

this week recap because it is absolutely necessary

mon: good day actually; every monday is. got a beautiful scrumptious breathtaking 8 in science class, FULL MARKS !! edited 4 english the whole night. pajama day

tues: morning 4:20; finished editing for english — having trouble sending the file to dr. not showering, yet. so sleeping sideways on the bed and then showering 2 hrs later, at 6:50 am. late but not really, i had a field trip that day. science cooking field trip — made pad see ew and spring rolls really well. went out to feed some fish, got my matcha latte, played cards, went back to school, slept next to Her, mandarin ASA + gossip, finished the written proposal becuz apparently i forgot.

weds: career day! slept at 2 (early) dressed as a “writer” CAS day or service action day. went to my class and wrote some meaningless poetry + journaling. went in the library and talk w Her and LV. made some posters. bought canva pro (cancel it before next month!!) boring assembly, talked with them much more.

thurs: character day. dressed as wednesday while LV as enid. love finding people w different styles tbh. very cool day. did absolutely nothing.. ooh! had a conversation abt AI in education and how that affects future career prospects. played card games. downloaded restaurant dash or gordon ramsay is surprisingly nice but like nice nice in this (he does not talk like that.) took vids and pics, i cannot deny it anymore i am turning into those taking tiktoks in the bathroom and occupying all the space girlies. ♡

friday: today! we’re having a gender reveal party apparently, a birthday shower (theme)? rcl is the mum. i wore pink for the festivities (girl). i don’t get the gender binary thing but oh well. ITS A GIRL (update). (also update) I GOT ALL 8’S FOR MY VIDEO ESSAY !!! YES!! i’m so happy so so definitely proud of myself for all the hard work i did. it paid off so well. i love u. also played a ton of card games <33. lana’s ocean blvd how can i forget??? i forgot my headphones so i literally cannot wait to go home to listen to it omg i’m so excited. also I LoVE Her. can u make me forget? i love her.
