I'm still working out the order of their ages.. So far I have decided that Ludwig is the oldest. And I'm leaning on Iggy being right below him, the second to oldest.

I'm solid on Bowser JR being the youngest, and Lemmy being right above him, the second to youngest. As for everyone else though..? I'm still trying to figure it out.

Thinking that Roy and Morton are on the older side, and Wendy and Larry are on the younger side. I just don't quite know what the order will be-

Now Bowser is complicated. Originally I wanted Bowser to be this ruthless monster. Both as a King and as a Dad.. But I made that Bowser around when the Movie trailers were all the hype. And boy, I hated how Bowser was shaping up to be. So my rotten Bowser was mostly just to make him more intimidating then the movie Bowser.

Since then I've settled down and thought that a purely evil Bowser is not that interesting.. or lore accurate. So I began to lean on him being a rather good dad, if not emotionally awkward.

....buuut then I saw the movie, and now I'm back on the Bowser hate train <XDD I guess right now its up in the air. He's not meant to be intentionally abusive or awful to his kids though. I'm thinking that maybe the gentle fatherly side of Bowser was usually brought out by his wife.. Since she's gone now.. well.. I guess he's a little emotionally absent at the least-

As strictly a King, I'm thinking that he's pretty rough. At least he's more ruthless than he may have been before. I guess a way to describe him as King would be.. The health and safety of his people are not his #1 concern. The strength of his kingdom and his position of power however, is. Though this Bowser is subject to change.. :/

That sounds really fun actually! And normally I could see that happening.. though unfortunately, some of the structures I have set up in my AU make this scenario less likely..

For one, I intended for healing magic to be extremely complex and very difficult to master. And its intended to always leave a mark of some kind. A warning that Kamek gives to Lemmy and Iggy is something along the lines of "Whether you are healing, or destroying. Magic will always leave a scar." That's why Iggy's eyes look so strange and half of Lemmy's face and hair is discolored. The act of repairing their eyes left a mark on them..

What I mean by this, is that Kamek couldn't just turn around and heal them after every sparring session. Because it is very challenging to heal with magic and they would both be left with scars.. So they would both have to heal naturally over time after sparring. And considering that the Commander has a very important job, it would be wise to not tire him out or injure for the sake of some emotional relief.. :(

Although.. there could be a more mild version of this perhaps? Where the commander is involved in Bowser's training.? But not as his opponent. Perhaps he flies up high and chucks projectiles at Bowser for him to deflect. But not really getting involved on a way beyond that where he becomes overly exhausted or inured.

...Now for the Koopalings?? Dude, that's genius. Bowser is a hefty opponent and is sure to exhaust Commander and possibly even injure him.. But the Koopalings?? Commander would make a GREAT sparring partner for nearly all of them! :00

Specifically I can see him sparing with Morton, Roy, Ludwig and possibly Iggy. (The older Koopalings primarily) Whether its just muscle against muscle or being Iggy's target practice, I think he'd make a great sparring partner for the youngins :}}

It started with being inspired by my band-aid covered hands (due to dry hands and cat scratches) and adding them into my sona

sebastian sallow | general thoughts / headcanons with gryffindor!mc

this is just overall thoughts on the sebastian arc and his general characterisation (yes, i am continuing to update this on my second playthrough)

spoilers below

the amount of times i’ve caught sebastian looking at mc through the start of my now second play-through is hilariously adorable, like don’t get me wrong the herbology one is absolutely the best, but i noticed that throughout charms sebastian is just staring at mc (like he’s straight up starts ignoring ominis speaking to him when they walk in the room) also the slight glances in defence against the dark arts before the duel is so cute.

he does it again whilst sirona and rookwood are arguing, like he just turns to them and similes

you can’t convince me otherwise that mc didn’t grab at least his arm to pull him away from ranrok, like it genuinely looks like that and if you squint hard enough it looks like he does the same thing when heading into the three broomsticks

listen i’m specifically playing as fem! & gryffindor! and the missions with ominis feel so reminiscent of the golden trio (i’m calling it now, they’re the electrum trio - a metal mixed with gold and sliver) especially the crucio side-mission

saw someone in a comment sum their dynamic up perfectly from my perspective

“i used to have beef with ominis before this (crucio) quest happened and now it’s me, a gryffindor dragging two slytherins by their shirt collars”

slight tangent but ominis is so sweet if you start as a slytherin! i saw my friend start his game and meet him in the common room and i was like “i’m sorry, is this the same tory bastard that yelled at me for nicking his pal?”

if anything sebastian comes off worse in that section.

almost every streamer i’ve came across assumes he’s flirting, like this was absolutely intentional

when either of the boys, particularly sebastian is speaking to imelda and the conversation of mc comes up she absolutely refers to mc as “that gryffindor of yours”

i mean, it’s the age old rivalry that just gives everything that extra oomph! despite the fact nobody seems to be questioning that a gryffindor has closely befriended not one, but two slytherins because that certainly isn't suspicious (i'm surprised one of the gryffindors didn't bring it up - particularly leander)

speaking of leander, why are the more prominent gryffindors (and ravenclaws) so antagonistic or hellbent on getting us in trouble?

sebastian’s jealously towards both his friends is dripping in the crucio quest like, in the line below i know he means because mc and ominis have special abilities but...

"between the two of you, i'm starting to feel left out"

the constant proud "that's my girl" look on his face

"never know who's watching - although that hasn't stopped us before." "strictly speaking, it has. we were caught."

also at the start of the library mission, anyone notice the way he's casually waiting on mc against the banister smiling up at her? or whilst he's waiting on her and ominis to figure out the location of the scriptorium? like, this boy knows he's the shit.

listen, there are certain things that sebastian said and did during his storyline that even at that age, i would’ve noped out of but i went in with a “yes, corrupt the little goody-two-shoes gryffindor madly infatuated with you” attitude and honestly it was so much fun. cause objectively yeah, sebastian should be expelled at the very least but my mc was not gonna let them do that (they're very much giving jd and veronica)

that said, mc isn't about to let him walk all over her, she's a gryffindor for a reason, she's just had some misguided judgement

don’t love how there isn’t much of a reaction from either boy after crucio is cast on mc, especially from sebastian (again, massive red flag) but also, think the devs missed the mark on that one like sebastian is still mc’s friend, yeah he really wants to see anne healed but a little sympathy shown would’ve been nice and a proper acknowledgement of what'd he'd done.

even if sebastian shrugged it off quickly he should've helped them walk or at least offered a hand to stand up

i love the wee house jibes, i wish we got more of them!

general headcanons (oc-ish)

he'd absolutely mutter continuous little digs and comments throughout their classes simply to get under her skin and make her smile whilst she's trying to listen to their professors (he used to do this to ominis but he's able to ignore sebastian now after years of the torment)

whilst having dinner in the great hall they won't be sitting together but they'll lightly tap or nudge one another on the back if they're passing behind each-other's designated tables

sebastian refers to the fat lady painting as the "golden gate keeper of mediocrity" after walking mc back to gryffindor tower, which earns him a mildly deserved elbow jab

he gives mc piggy-backs during their trips to hogsmead and the quidditch pitch

whilst she's walking to and from classes with cressida or natsai, sebastian is regularly seen inserting himself between them, putting an arm over mc and / or pinching her away over to ominis and nerida

"who would've thought, all it took was a snake to tame the lion" cressida noted to a disinterested leander, peering over at the scarlet robes peaking beneath the sea of green

mc likes to softly poke at his blushing cheeks, joking that if sebastian "gets any redder, he won't be allowed back into slytherin" or that "he might have to come back to gryffindor with her"

mc has on occasion accidently fallen asleep, resting her head on his shoulder during history of magic

most of the gryffindors (nellie, leander and garreth in particular) will tease sebastian as he waits for her outside the common room, claiming "she was ours first" and attempt to distract her for as long as possible beyond the painting just to 'knock 'im down a few pegs'

they're well aware she's highly capable of holding her own, but not only is he a slytherin, he's also sebastian sallow so they're protective

he much prefers bumping into natty, who'll make a light "lost puppy" joke, share laugh and proceed to actually go get mc or he would actively seek out lucan because he knows the kid sucks-up to him but eventually the older gryffindors caught-on and would bribe lucan with chocolate frogs to stop him in his tracks

mc enjoys exposing sebastian to muggle trinkets and snacks, she grew up in a travelling circus with her parents, a ringmaster and fortune teller who never attended hogwarts in their youth (i'm gonna do a separate oc bio)

the trio all share a love of pumpkin pasties and lavender tea so whoever has a free period (or when sebastian has detention) will pop down to the kitchen to collect some

forehead kisses, hugs and interlocked arms whilst exploring the castle are everything to these two (their subtle little height difference is adorable, especially when you remember fem!mc is wearing wee wedged shoes at the start of the game)

Favorite Thai QL: Moonlight Chicken

This is so fucking hard because like…I Told Sunset About You, 180 Degree Longitude Passes Through Us, and The Eclipse exist and I could wax poetic about all of them, about how much heart went in to them, about how strong the performances of the actors are, about how emotionally impactful these shows were for me. Because all of them were, and they were impactful and relevant to me in so many different ways. I can say with utter confidence that I have not been as impacted by a piece of television as I was with ITSAY and 180D. But, fundamentally, Moonlight Chicken is the show that started it all for me. Moonlight Chicken is the first show that I started writing analysis about, it is the first show that I started interacting with other people on this website over, I have so many tumblr friends now explicitly because of how I engaged with this show, and how others engaged with this show. And so, regardless of how many other incredible, impactful, cinematographic masterpieces grace my screen, Moonlight Chicken will forever be my favorite because it gave me a community I didn’t have before. 

Favorite Pairing: First and Khaotung

I want to make it very clear, I do not condone fanservice. I am generally opposed to speculating about the nature of two actor’s relationships to one another outside of work. So, when I talk about my favorite pairing, I mean it strictly as scene partners. First and Khaotung are my favorite pairing because they are incredible fucking actors. First is a fucking chamelian, like seriously, I saw him in Not Me first, then in The Eclipse, and I think it took me until I looked up what else First had been in during my first viewing of The Eclipse that I even realized he had played Yok. And that blew my fucking mind because Yok and Akk are radically different characters. Yok is loud, chaotic, comfortable, and open. Akk is quiet, stressed, distressed, closeted, suppressed, and First does such an incredible job with both of those characters. After I watched The Eclipse for the first time, I went back right after to watch Not Me so I could compare First’s performance, and I was just blown away. I have since rewatched The Eclipse about six times.

Then I saw him as Alan in MLC and again, First was able to be an asshole to Jim while maintaining a sympathetic position, he navigates so well the razor thin edge that has to be balanced when it comes to making a character that first appears as an antagonistic force but whose pain and anger is immediately understandable, and he does it with ease. It both makes me sad and happy that Aof did not know how good of an actor First was. I heard from @so-much-left-to-learn that Moonlight Chicken started filming before The Eclipse was released, and that Aof wasn’t ever on set for The Eclipse and therefore would not have really had a chance to see him playing more serious roles. I am glad that Aof acknowledging how blown away he was by First means that First actually can act and I am not just distracted by the angelic face of his. Also, this boy can fucking cry.

Khaotung similarly, I think my first exposure to Khao was The Eclipse and then I saw him in A Tale of A Thousand Stars and I was like “Hello??????????? Where did my rat bastard go? This is a sweet ray of sunshine!” Khao is a powerhouse, and a master at displaying, expressing, and articulating grief that it radiates out of the screen. It is unsurprising to me that everyone was singing his praises in MLC and I feel some type of way about the fact that Aof knew how talented Khaotung was and trusted him to carry the heavy responsibility of portraying the grief of losing a parent so soon after Aof lost his. And everyone who said that your eye can’t help but be drawn to Khao whenever he is on screen is correct. Khaotung is a force to be reckoned with, and though you are drawn to him, I don’t think when he is not the focus of the moment that he ever steals the scene. Also, this boy can fucking cry.

I think it was @ginnymoonbeam who said that First and Khaotung elevate every role they play, and I have to agree. But further, they elevate each other, and I so enjoyed the clips I’ve seen of First and Khaotung discussing their friendship and how they had never gotten to work together, and how they had a conversation with each other when they got cast opposite one another in The Eclipse being like “this is probably the one and only time they are going to have us work together, so let’s show them what we’ve got” and they just like…demolished those fucking roles, and now are scene partners in a number of shows. I loved watching the Behind the Scenes videos where First and Khaotung describe what they have learned from each other working together, especially how First is always going back to look at the camera and to observe the scene they have just recorded so he can see how the scene is looking, take mental notes, and adjust as needed, and how Khaotung had never done that until he was on set with First. 

Again, I will not speculate in any way, shape, or form about the true nature of their relationship to one another outside of work, but inside of work they do appear to be deeply deeply important to each other which is just so wonderful to witness. Regardless of whether or not their friendship is that strong when cameras aren’t rolling, I love seeing sweet, vulnerable, and strong displays of male friendship where First and Khaotung are literally crying at the thought of not seeing each other every day. Like, I just think shit like that is incredibly important for people to see in hopes that they will understand that it is okay to love your friends loudly and strongly.  

Most underrated actor: Jennie 

I love Jennie so much, my face always lights up when she is on screen. I think she is a great actress, and gave a very compelling performance as Mae in 3 Will Be Free. I would love to see her in more things, in larger roles. 

Favorite Character: Akk, The Eclipse

Thankfully this is a Thai QL tag only so that I didn’t have to pit two bad bitches against each other (Wen Kexing and Akk). Ohhhhhh Akk, you are trying so hard to please everyone around you, and you are so scared, and so prone to being manipulated, and so stressed out. You have so much pressure on you, you are carrying so much doubt and fear and pain. You tried to murder your classmates, you cry yourself silly over problem you are partially responsible for. You are complicated, and suppressed, and constantly on the verge of bursting, and I want to just wrap you in a blanket, give you hot chocolate, and tell you everything is going to be okay. Akk is my beloved BL boy. I relate very hard to the composition of his character. I am not an Akk apologist, because he has done some very wrong things in his life, but I love him because of all the wrongs he has done. Because he didn’t know any better, because he had a lot to lose if he did not do his job to a satisfactory degree, because he saw a hot boy who was immediately mean to him and fell head over heels, and because Akk is constantly evaluating and questioning his worldview, and adjusting it accordingly. He has such a huge heart and he’s not quite sure what to do with it. 

Favorite Side Character: Chot, Step by Step

Favorite scene in a QL: 180 Degrees Longitude Passes Through Us, Ep. 8

The farewell Wang gives to In near the end of Episode 8 is probably my favorite scene in a QL ever for a very innocuous and unexpected reason, and that is the flashback to Mon comforting Wang in the aftermath of their confrontation. Now, poor @bengiyo can attest that when I first saw the literal like…ten seconds of Wang falling against the doorframe of his mother’s bedroom, and then collapsing sobbing in to her arms, that I was sent in to the most intense emotional distress of my entire life for deeply, deeply personal reasons. I shared this entire clip because I think the confrontation itself is a marvel to behold, the way the tension has been building and building and building the entire show, and you can almost hear the whistle as the pressure finally becomes to much, and then erupts. GOD THIS SHOW IS SO FUCKING GOOD. Anyway, it took me thirty minutes to calm down and breathe properly from Wang’s “Ma” moment in this episode and because of how strongly it impacted me, it is my favorite scene. 

Favorite line in a QL: “You’re allowed to be weak, at least with me” / “You don’t have to be strong, not with me” 

This is a line that is very frequently said by at least one half of a pair, Akk and Ayan say it to each other in The Eclipse, King says it to Uea in Bed Friend, I’m pretty sure there is some variation of it that Praipai says to Sky in Love in The Air. It is cheesy, and tropey, sure, but boy oh boy how I love the level of safety and comfort it implies between characters. Like, fundamentally, an aspect of relationships that is constantly evaluated in romance, is who knows you better than anyone, how you show your most authentic self to the person that you love. I mean, seriously, how much of romance stories revolves around hiding parts of yourself you fear no one would ever love? How much of romance stories revolve around keeping secrets because you are scared of losing the person you have? How much of romance has their conflict arise from the revelation of the secret, but not the secret itself? How much of romance has their resolution occur after moments of complete and total honesty?

I love all variations of this line, non-verbal ones included, non-verbal ones especially: from Pran sobbing in to Pat’s shoulder in Episode 10, to Tien fainting in Phupa’s arms, to Akk and Ayan always holding one another while one or both of them cries, navigating nightmares, and panic attacks, bearing witness to abuse, etc.

All that said, the other line that has been haunting me recently is “No one has asked me how I am in awhile” said by Tawan in My Ride because oof, yeah, in many ways and in many aspects of my life I am Tawan and truer words…

Healthiest relationship in a QL: Mork and Tawan, My Ride

I haven’t finished this show yet, I have the last two episodes to watch but I really love the reciprocal relationship the two of them have, I know it seems funny and ironic to say this, knowing that Mork did withhold information from Tawan and continued to try to alleviate his fears by lying to him about it, but they are open and honest with each other in a really wonderful way, I love their dynamic, and I think that as they continue to know each other, and love each other that they will only get better and better with open, honest communication, and mutual respect and care. 

Most toxic relationship in a QL: Akk and Theo, Enchante 

Sorry if you like this show, and sorry if you like this couple, and I know this feels out of left field when VegasPete exists, when FUTS exists, when Boss and Toy exist but like… 

Theo does fuck all for Akk, he just creates the most elaborate lie, doubles down on it, triples down on it, lets four other boys try to woo him, and Akk’s devotion to Theo and Theo’s downright obliviousness to Akk’s life needs leads to Akk getting fucking FIRED FROM HIS JOB BECAUSE THEO COULDN’T FIGURE OUT HOW TO RIDE THE BUS. Like…I’m sorry, but as much as I do believe that many relationships have some inherent level of imbalance, whether that is time, emotional needs, income, life experience, etc. and that can be fine and does not inherently make a relationship terrible or “toxic”, folks I’m sorry, I have seen 60 BLs at this point and I think this is the couple that I like the least. 

Guilty pleasure series: There is no such thing as a guilty pleasure, I own that shit…

My guilty pleasure series is not so much a series as it is revisiting certain scenes in different BLs that I love. I have rewatched a number of the fight scenes, make out scenes, and sex scenes in the shows I have seen: Eclipse, Bed Friend, La Pluie, LITA, KinnPorsche, Moonlight Chicken, etc.

There isn’t a particular order, and there is no intentional plan, but sometimes a backing track of a scene gets stuck in my head and I have to watch the scene to get it out, and sometimes I’m like “damn I miss my boys”, and sometimes @colourme-feral is an asshole and reblogs King and Uea gifs and I am seized with the urge to see them again. I tend to watch kissing scenes and sex scenes a lot in the shows that I’ve seen because I love breaking down the choreography of the scene. If you don’t know by now, I spend a lot of my time in shows analyzing the body language of the characters and there are no scenes more rich with body language to analyze than the strongest emotional moments, which come through the eruption of a fight scene, or through the intimacy of a love scene.

I will often watch a particular moment of a scene like four times in a row, trying to parse through every microexpression on an actor’s face, or wonder how the hell they managed to get through a scene without laughing. I love watching other people have strong emotional responses in a television show because I cannot and do not act, and therefore I am constantly amazed and curious about how a person is able to make their face move like that, make their body move like that, make their eyes shine like that, etc. 

Most underrated series: He’s Coming to Me 

Honestly, I would say 180 Degrees Longitude Passes Through Us is also a highly underrated series, but 180D is very heavily reminiscent of stage plays (which makes sense since the director is a playwright) and I that is not a style of performance that is as easily watched for everyone. So I can understand the physicality, and the pacing, and the space to be a barrier to actually enjoying the show. Which is why I am going to say something most other people have said…He’s Coming to Me. 

I am picking this one because it is filmed in a similar style to most other GMMTV BLs which means that it is accessible to a wider audience. But it’s released was impacted by a number of different issues, including fan pushback, which is to say the least a goddamn travesty. This is a beautiful piece of media, with (unsurprising) stellar performances from Ohm and Singto. Aof knows how to do an Episode 5 roof scene, let me tell you. I have seen it on a recommended watch list from time to time, with mostly just the statement that people should watch it because there is a really good coming out scene. Which is literally all I knew about the show when I started watching it, and which promptly became a thing I got a bit miffed over, not because I didn’t love the coming out scene (I super super did) but because this show is so queer. This show is a gay trifecta (by, for, and about queers) and no one fucking told me?!

Like, seriously the only thing anyone at all had to say about this show was that the coming out scene was good? Not the way that seeing ghosts is a metaphor of queerness, not that Ohm delivers one of the most gut-wrenching screaming apologies? Not a peep have I seen about Ohm’s ramble about people’s assumptions about what and who he likes by his friends in the locker room? 

Everyone needs to see this show. I know that the distribution of it prevented a lot of people from seeing it in any timely fashion, but it is available on YouTube now and I would highly, highly recommend it. This was a 10/10 show for me.

"I guess I'm just destined to be alone." You turn off your phone with a resigned sigh and set it down on the coffee table in front of you, trying and failing to fight the tears threatening to spill from your eyes.

For months, you have had a crush on Minho, the boy who sat next to you in Calculus.

You know him outside of class too, as you, Minho, and a few other friends all live in the same dorm. Time passed in a whirlwind as you found yourself falling slowly in love with him, but unfortunately, it came to a jarring halt when you discovered he had a girlfriend. Another girl who will be able to hold his hand always, another girl who will be the object of his dreams, another girl who will be the reason for his beautiful smile.

Your best friend, Hyunjin, sits beside you, disbelief bubbling inside of him. "How can you say that? I'm literally right here."

In spite of yourself, you laugh, but mixed with your sobbing, it sounds more like a strange cough. "You know what I mean. This happens every time. I fall in love with someone who doesn't love me back. It's the circle of my life."

Hyunjin hates to see you like this, mostly because he knows exactly how you feel. His own heart hurts too, but he doesn't show it. He reaches over and wipes the tears from your cheeks. "There is someone out there who is just right for you. I promise."

Sniffling, you look away from Hyunjin, unable to bear the indignance in his gaze. Your best friend is a hopeless romantic, he will never know the pain of unrequited love. "I just want someone to love me."

I love you, is what Hyunjin wanted to say. I love you so much.

Instead, he circles his arms around you and draws you close to his body, letting you cry silently in the comfort of his embrace.  He rubs soothing circles into your back, slowly leading you into the solace of sweet slumber. Hyunjin's favorite shirt is soaked with your tears, but he barely even notices, quietly gazing out beyond the balcony. The moon is already up, enveloped in a pink and blue streaked sunset.

One day, when he finds enough courage, he'll tell you how he really feels. But until then, he will be there by your side, no matter what. The fairy lights strung around your room cast a warm glow on your skin, and Hyunjin can't help but lean forward and brush his lips lightly against your forehead.

I wish you knew how much I love you.

Coach Nelson lets them off with detention for the rest of the week. By the time he’s done yelling at them, everyone’s already gone from the locker room.

Billy can avoid Tommy’s questions for now, at least.

He’s not looking forward to what’s waiting for him at home. He’s gonna have to explain to his dad that he can't take Maxine home for a week because he started a fight during basketball practice. Neil already doesn't like that basketball doesn't let him adhere strictly to Max's schedule and has her waiting for him a couple days a week, so he's gonna blow his shit when he hears Billy has detention for the next few days. It's enough to make Billy not want to go home at all.

He briefly considers spending the night in his car, but he knows delaying the inevitable will probably make it worse for him, in the end. He has to get it over with, like a man. He has to clench his jaw to stop his mouth from twisting, and he can feel his eyes getting warm, filling up, for the second time today. Is it only the second time, or is it the third? He's already lost count, this goddamn day has been so completely fucked up.

All because Billy can't keep his damn mouth shut and his dick in his pants.

And he can't find his damn soap.

"Fuck!!"

"Jesus Christ, Hargrove!" Harrington's yell follows the heels of his own, both voices bouncing off the tiled walls. "What's your deal?"

"Fuck off, Harrington," He says, keeping his voice low. So it doesn't shake.

The laugh that comes out of Harrington is harsh, ugly and mean, nothing like the sweet laugh he let out when Billy made them fall into his closet. Might as well have come from a different person.

"You want me to fuck off? You actually want me to fuck off, now?" Harrington says, anger making his voice loud, a thread of mockery running through it. "After all the shit you were giving me at practice?"

"Yeah, Harrington, go fuck yourself," Billy says, imitating his tone, and gives up on searching his locker. He'll use his shampoo and hope for the best. He needs to get out of here sooner rather than later.

Harrington huffs, turning his body to follow Billy's path to the showers.

"Unbelievable. Me? Like this shit's all my fault?" He hisses. His cheekbone is starting to bruise. Billy can't look at it. "You're a fucking asshole."

Harrington steps towards Billy as he goes off, getting too close for Billy's comfort. If another fight breaks out in the locker room, it'll only stop if the coach finds them before he leaves, because Billy doesn't think he has it in him to stop.

"Sucks for you, I guess," He goes for snark and misses by a mile, going by how Harrington's expression darkens, how he steps closer. He has the same look on his face he had at the Byers' house, eyes dark, top lip pulled up like Billy's shit at the bottom of his shoe. Sweat beads at the back of Billy's neck.

"I'm sick of your shit," Harrington says, pushing his chest, two brands burning Billy's skin.

Billy slaps at his hands, "Get your hands off me, Harrington."

"I'm sick of you going around doing whatever you want, whenever you want, no matter the consequences," Harrington shoves at him again, and Billy tries to plant his bare feet on the slick tile.

Distantly, he wonders if he'll have two handprints burned on his chest for how much his skin flares, nerve endings lighting up at the sensation. His heartbeat's going like a thunderstorm, making him deaf to anything but Harrington's angry voice. 

"What the fuck did you just say to me?" Billy snarls, nostrils flaring. He steps closer to Harrington. They're almost nose to nose, now, eyes locked and jaws set. Harrington's eyes are dark, pupils blown wide, and his body is so tense Billy can almost feel him vibrating.

"I said," Harrington starts, voice low and dangerous like Billy's never heard it before, "that you're a fucking asshole."

"Takes one to know one, pretty boy."

"Oh yeah?" Harrington scoffs, tongues at his split lip, makes blood rise to the surface. His voice actually is trembling, like he's shaking from holding in how angry he is. Billy knows what it's like. He sets his feet more steadily on the floor, Harrington's gonna go for his face any time now.  "What did I ever do to you, huh?"

You're way too pretty, is the truth, but Billy will take that to his grave. He just wanted Harrington to look at him. Well, he's looking now, eyes dark, brows pulled together until a dimple's caught right in the middle, lips turned up almost in an angry pout, the cut bloody and slightly swollen.

He looks back up to Harrington's eyes quickly, but it's no use. He sees Billy looking.

Billy sees Harrington's hand snap up out the corner of his eye and braces for impact, but what hits him isn't Harrington's fist, it's his mouth crashing into Billy's, hungry and open. Billy doesn't think, can't think, only parts his lips to meet Harrington's tongue, letting the taste of him, tinged lightly with blood, flood his senses.

Every brush of lips lands like a punch, bruising, dizzying. Harrington's hand ends up tangled in Billy's hair, pulling at his curls, and Billy has to swallow back a moan. His own hands grab at Harrington's shirt, at his waist, trying to bring him closer and digging his nails in when he can't. Billy wants to cover himself with Harrington's warmth, feel it burning his body from chest to toe.

Billy thought Harrington had made it clear what he thought of Billy during class today, but the boner poking at his hip might imply otherwise. Though the way Harrington's grabbing at him, one hand fisted in his hair and the other pawing at his ass, well… Billy wouldn't call that manners. His own dick is responding eagerly, and he lets Harrington feel it, presses it to his thigh with a roll of his hips, mouth opening in an involuntary gasp.

Harrington hums into his mouth, slips his tongue inside to roll against Billy's, slicking their lips with spit and making their kiss sound obscene. Their harsh breaths echo in the locker room, drown out any sounds coming from outside, any thoughts left in Billy's head.

"Fuck," Harrington pants, breaking away to lick a path to Billy's neck, sucking a bruise there that has Billy's hips bucking and a strangled moan escaping from his throat. "Fuck, Billy."

Billy lets out a throaty laugh, slides a hand under Harrington's shorts to squeeze at his sinful ass, using it as leverage to grind against him. His cock is already fully hard, already fucking leaking. 

 "Harrington…" Billy squeezes his eyes shut when Harrington thumbs at Billy's nipple, digging a nail in until Billy's seeing stars and his knees start to shake. 

Harrington groans, or he snarls – he makes a sound like an animal, and pulls back so abruptly that Billy blinks his eyes open, suddenly cold. Harrington whips his shirt off harshly and throws it behind him, uncaring if it lands in a puddle, only to sink his hands back into Billy's hair, his tongue into Billy's mouth. 

It's a scramble then, for Harrington to get his shoes off, to walk back until he can slam Billy against a wall, all without letting go of each other, always touching somewhere, somehow.

Harrington's not as built as Billy, but that doesn't mean he isn't strong. He's covering Billy with his body, smothering him, grinding his hips against Billy's so hard that Billy's back is going to have tidy little square-shaped bruises from the cold tile. The thought is enough to make him desperate, make him stupid.

Hello everyone here to hear me yap! Below I am including all of the videos dnp have released in 2024, rated from my favorite to least favorite. PLEASE NOTE that I actually do love all of them! And this is just a silly thing! But feel free to discuss or send me asks with your opinions :)

I'll start from the bottom up.

10. i have a spicy confession...

This one was lots of fun (wtf is wrong with yall with these confessions) but I'm not gonna lie Phil felt incredibly off in it and like... really performative? Like idk something didn't feel right to me and although he said some really sweet things it felt... off somehow. Not sure how to describe it. Funny though lol

9. HONEYMOON IN JAPAN!

I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW

It was a good video!! I just feel like it didn't have a lot of *those moments* that these other videos had idk. Like yes it was very sweet and a milestone for the sims universe but it kind of felt like that was it for me. The symbolism was inSANE but just strictly talking about the video itself yk. New pics released were nice though

8. Poppy Playtime Chapter 3

This one was a lot but it was SO nice to have such a long video- two hours long who??? That's tbh the reason this one goes above the honeymoon video- the length. The reason I put it lower is that although I am NOT complaining about the length, both of them were SUPER focused a lot of the time and not really talking much haha

7. Viewers Pick My Birthday Presents 2024

The only reason this one isn't higher is because all the ones above this I consider part of their *magnum opus* era. I loved the mini golden pig, the omatone, the shirt, and the Shrek smut. Always fun to see him surprised with cursed stuff loll

6. THE PUBLIC WOOHOO INCIDENT

Pretty self explanatory I think. Dan SCREAMING as Dab and Evan got it on made me actually piss myself. I can still hear it echoing in my head.

5. Phil's Birthday Livestream

Another case of "the only reason this isn't higher is because the ones above it are SO good." I loved the livestream, and was able to attend live for about the first hour. Such chaos. Such good. Amazing.

4. Dan and Phil Get Married, Have Kids, and Retire

Saw the notif while I was getting out of school and I literally snorted out loud, very embarrassing. They're just taking the piss at this point and I'm loving it. Phil's teasing him towards the end with "oh, I think I'll start another photo album!" GOLDEN. "Henry gives me that good dick." "Me and Susan have been rawdogging it." Amazing. Incredible.

3. Phil Pushes Dan's Button for 18 Minutes

A comfort video for REAL. When this came out I was SHOCKED that they had two BANGERS one right after another, but boy was I in for a surprise.

The slime? The slime on Dan's head while he's talking? Phil placing it on his forehead while he stares off into space? Hell yeah I want more of that slime I could look at it all day.

2. Who is the Real Daniel Howell?

Yall. We were fed GOOD today. Dan singing 'my lumps' absolutely DEADPAN while Phil looks at him in Awe? I WANT PHIL'S SWEATER IF ANYONE CAN TELL ME WHERE IT'S FROM I WILL BE GRATEFUL.

So? many shoulder touches? idk what that's about but i aint complaining ig

editing tips! *stuff* coming out your nose! etc!

This one had such a particular vibe to it- I think partially because it wasn't edited by the editor they've been using! To be clear - the editor has been doing a great job and I applaud them :) but sometimes it feels a bit over-edited, if you know what I mean? (For example the count-downs on the sims video going down the mountain felt a bit much) But having a video that was edited by Dan or Phil kinda hits different idk

WDAPTEO2024

I cannot, CANNOT say enough good things about this video. I cannot. I cannot. It holds my whole heart and soul and I have only rewatched it twice because I am trying to preserve the magic but GODDAMNIT I love their shenanigans. What a series.

I was very worried when they came out with this video STRAIGHT into 2024 because I was like, "WOW. that was amazing but idk how they're going to follow this up? will everything feel like a disappointment now that this masterpiece has come out?" (not that dnp uploading could ever be a disappointment, but I digress) BUT I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. Still though, wdapteo is 10/10 my fave so far.

I hope you enjoyed my yapping! I know many of you don't agree and that's okay lol, feel free to share your opinions if you so please ! And also with the ones that were lower ranked, the reasons I listed for the being lower ranked was NOT me complaining. Each video is different and awesome in their own right, this is just a ranking of how much I personally enjoyed each one!

The 5 abyssal hunters for the ship meme

Oh boy. I feel like a lot of these will end up looking very similar because I ship a lot of them with each other so let's go

Skadidididididi

NOTP: Skadi x Ulpianus. Ulpianus is a clown and does not deserve romance.

BROTP: Skadi x Grani. Skadidi needs a friend and they were cute together in Grani's event.

OTP: Skadi x Specter. God, they're so good. They've been through so much together, and Skadi was so caring and attentive when Specter was being treated at Rhodes Island. Also, Specter's Outstanding durability means she's one of the few people Skadi can top without risk of injury.

Second choice pairing: Skadi x Doctor. Skadi's operator files indicate that she's a bit sweet on Doc, to say nothing of... the entirety of the Corrupting Heart. I think it'd be really cute to watch Skadi struggle to admit she cares for this fragile land-dweller and then finally allow herself to be close to someone and then dote on and be so very gentle with her easily-breakable wife/malewife (as applicable).

Fluffy pairing: Skadi x Doctor, Skadi x Grani. They would be so sweet together.

Angsty pairing: Skadi x Specter. Oh, there is so much potential for pain with these two.

Favorite poly ship: Skadi x Specter x Gladiia, Skadi x Specter x Gladiia x Doctor, Skadi x Specter x Gladiia x Irene. My reading on the Abyssal Hunters is that they aren't strictly monogamous (see: Specter's yuri moments with both Skadi and Irene and Skadi's simultaneous crush on the Doctor and yuri moments with Specter), and so I actually like Abyssal Hunter polycules more than 2-person ships. Love the thought of the three surviving Hunters finding solace in each other's arms on land.

Adding Doctor to the mix is super funny to me because all three of them express some level of regard for them (Skadi is pretty obviously crushing a bit, Gladiia invites them to dance and is rude to them when it's specifically noted that she saves politeness for the people she doesn't like, and even Specter likes to playfully tease them and Irene is a seagull, but she can still be stuffed like a turkey if she tries really hard and believes in herself.

Weirdest pairing: Skadi x Mudrock. Each of them is a bit of a space cadet, and Mudrock's shield passive means that as long as Skadi goes real slow, she can top Mudrock without harm.

Specter the Unhinged

NOTP: Specter x Amaia. Keep your filthy Seaborn-worshipping hands off my girl.

BROTP: Absolutely love the idea of Specter becoming Bros with the other brawlers/troublemakers at Rhodes Island. She probably hangs out at the bar/gym/etc. with Indra, Gavial, Lappland, and other people who cause problems on purpose.

OTP: Specter x Skadi. See above.

Second choice pairing: Specter x Irene, Specter x Doctor. Irene deserves to get railed and they had a bunch of Yuri Moments in Stultifera Navis and Specter does seem to have genuine regard for the Doctor, both promising to protect them and expressing a desire to share her home and its culture with them and lamenting that there are aspects of it they're incapable of understanding

Fluffy pairing: I feel like it's hard to do truly fluffy with Specter because she's too much of a brat, but Specter x Skadi and Specter x Irene could probably manage it.

BROTP: Gladiia x Blemishine. Idk, I just really like the idea of Jaded Supersoldier Science Lady Gladiia taking this young, peppy engineering nerd under her wing.

OTP: Gladiia x Doctor. It would be Gladiia x Kal'tsit if I liked Kal'tsit because I do think the setup and chemistry is really good, but alas. That said, Doc x Gladiia has a decent foundation to it, what with the way Gladiia asks Doctor to dance with her and is generally somewhat abrupt and impolite with them when her files note that she reserves her manners for people she doesn't much care for. I feel like there's a good opportunity to bond over the nature of power and responsibility and leadership. Late nights discussing tactics or playing chess together that become something more? Yes, please.

Second choice pairing: Gladiia x Specter. Gladiia shows so much care for Specter, and somebody's gotta punish this bratty little shark.

Fluffy pairing: I'm not convinced Gladiia does fluffy, but I think Gladiia x Doc has some potential, given the talk line where she offers to teach the Doctor how to dance.

Angsty pairing: I feel like every Gladiia pairing is inherently angsty but I'll pick Gladiia x Ulpianus here because their interactions in Stultifera Navis get both funnier and more tragic if they yearn to explore each other's bodies.

Then vs. Now

I always get very emotional seeing Vaughn when he was first born. I had made two other male V's prior to Vaughn, who funnily enough looked pretty much just like him. All three were defaults, but none of them were Vaughn. For some reason when I made him out of the others, he just felt.. like home. As someone who has been used to playing strictly female characters when it comes to character creation games, getting so attached to a male character was pretty surprising to me. But he fell into my lap and changed my entire life, and I spent so much time figuring out who he is, and what his personality was going to be like, and I am so proud of who I made him into. He is my absolute light, and my whole world and without him idk what I'd do. My emotional attachment to him is very very strong, and I will love him forever.

Then: I made him in February of 2021, this is probably the second or third photo I ever took of him.

I absolutely did no editing to this whatsoever, I had no idea how to work photomode, but I was excited that I got to play with poses and oh my gosh he looks like a mess LOL. This was before I even named him, he was still just V, and wondered if I should just have kept him as 'Vincent', but that was the previous male V I made, and I knew that since he was starting to grow on me, he needed his own name.

Just for shits and giggles, I also wanna add this one because when I tell you I was so proud of this photo, I mean it. This was my favorite photo for such a long time, and I also thought he looked mega cute in that shirt and tie, and with the hat? klansfkmnd I was in love. LOL, not to mention the vehicle in the back I HC as Vaughn's favorite, which I named "The Green Saber".

My kiddo. My sunset baby. He turned into everything I wanted him to be and than some. I def projected a lot of myself into him, and up until a couple months ago, didn't realize that he was a self insert. But he is. He is the version of myself that I strive to be, and for that, I thank him. He helps me everyday. He's flawed, he's wild, he's crazy, he's silly, he's goofy, he's emotional, he's sensitive, and he is smart and caring, and loveable, and will be there when you need him in a heart beat. Vaughn, I love you my sweet boy. ♥

Content info: YN needs peanut butter for her mental wellbeing, but Chris tries to take the last jar on the shelf first. A fight (or flirt) ensues.

Warnings: none, just a dorky lil fic Hare felt she needed for her soul

For a second, you contemplate if peanut butter is important enough to you to kill a gorgeous Korean guy over it, and you’re actually tempted, dimples or no dimples.

It wasn’t supposed to be this way. You are tired from a long day of studying and really, REALLY want a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for dinner before maybe cramming some more knowledge into your brain. So, you’ve made a quick run down to the grocery store to grab bread and peanut butter.

At the store, you quickly find the bread you like and make your way over to the aisle that houses all of the breakfast foods, even though, strictly speaking, peanut butter is a soul food more than anything else. You approach the right shelf an, from the corner of your eye, see a young man standing in front of it. You don’t really pay attention to him, though – you are here for sustenance and not men. However, just as you are next to him, you notice he’s reaching for the peanut butter, too – and there’s only one jar left.

“Hey!” you half-yell, “stop!”

The guy turns to you, obviously confused, and his striking dark eyes above a chiselled jawline and slightly too big nose hit you as incredibly attractive. Still, not what you’re here for. “Yes?” he asks, potentially fearing you to be a madwoman. Oh, he is right to do so.

You cross your arms and square up. “You cannot take the last jar of peanut butter,” you announce as if that’s a universal truth because even you have to acknowledge that, of course, he can.

The young man frowns. “But… There’s still chunky peanut butter?” He points at the shelf. “So… It’s technically not the last jar.”

You snort. “Everybody knows that smooth peanut butter is the superior option. I cannot let you take it from me.”

His frown deepens. “I’m not taking anything from you,” he says, visibly irritated. “I saw it first and you never even touched the jar.” He snatches it up and turns his back on you. “Now, if you’ll excuse me…”

You step around him to block his way. “I will not excuse you,” you hiss. “I have been studying all day and I just want a fucking peanut butter and jelly sandwich before my exam tomorrow. I cannot believe you’re going to take that from me, pretty boy!”

Whoops. You did NOT mean to say that out loud.

He smiles at you sarcastically . “I appreciate the compliment, pretty girl. But you see, the thing is, my lil bro also has a craving for peanut butter and I can’t let you take that from him.” You must admit that it’s sweet that he cares for his little brother’s wellbeing enough to start a fight with you in the middle of a grocery store.

At that exact moment, a sweet-looking blond boy with freckles comes around the corner. “Chris,” he chirps, “did you get the peanut butter?”

“Sure, Felix”, your boy – Chris, apparently – answers.

You huff. “You took it from me,” you whine.

Felix’s eyes become huge. “Hyung,” he complains. “Did you take away this girl’s peanut butter? That’s not a nice thing to do!”

Chris bristles at the claim. “What? No! That’s a lie!” He turns to you. “Tell him the truth! Tell him that there is plenty of peanut butter left and that you’ve never even touched this very jar!”

Felix’ wide-eyed gaze meets yours. “What did you need the peanut butter for?” he asks, showing much more empathy with your situation than his stupid (and stupidly handsome) brother.

You shrug. “I just wanted a sandwich. I have been studying all day and I must have forgotten the time.”

Felix nods, as if that makes perfect sense. “Well, hyung, I’ve found a solution - we’ll just have to invite your new friend over for a sandwich. Problem solved!”

Chris looks shocked. “You can’t just invite a stranger to our apartment, Lix!”

You smile at Chris. “But I’m not a stranger anymore! You even called me pretty earlier!”

He sputters. “You started it!”

“Oooooh”, Felix coos, beaming at you. “Chris has been single for a few months now, maybe you could ask him out? We’ve just moved into this neighbourhood.”

“FELIX!” Chris’ face is bright red. “Can you NOT try to hook me up with the girl who tried to steal your peanut butter?”

You are suppressing a giggle, as is Felix. “If you make me a great sandwich, I’ll take you out to my favourite coffee shop,” you promise, winking at Chris, who groans.

“Wonderful!” Felix claps his hands. “Let’s go pay then!” And off he skips towards the checkout counters.

Chris glances over at you. “I can’t believe I’ve got a date with the crazy girl who tried to throw hands in the breakfast aisle over a jar of peanut butter.” His voice sounds equally sour and amused.

You huff. “First you gotta prove you actually know how to make a good sandwich.”

Chris chuckles. “Don’t you worry about that - what’s your name, by the way?”

“It’s YN,” you say, extending your hand towards him, and you shake. His hands are big and warm and soft and you try not to dwell on that. “I must say, that’s the greatest meet cute I’ve ever experienced.”

Chris smiles at you, a real smile, and God, he really is handsome. “That will make a great story to tell our kids one day.”

You swat at him, and he just laughs as he puts a hand on the small of your back. “Come on, let’s follow Felix. We live just across the street, you’ll soon have your sandwich.”

And despite the fact that your revision notes are waiting for you at home, you decide to take a chance and follow the two boys.

ok so idol groups all know each other for sure, pothos prolly interacted with them as well, but way less and more formal, soloists and urband legends def had only minor interactions IF they had those.

generally speaking, everyone in the company treat Andromeda like seniors/girlbosses (because they are) while cheer4U are now the youngest and newest group they are kinda babies to everyone Andromeda doesn't have very close relations to anyone (being popular doesn't help here), but they are considered like a proper sister group to Ishin-Denshin, due to some matching concept elements and being the 'foundation' of the company Andromeda and Ishin-Denshin def had their little collabs, specifically vocal-based, since both group got mad vocalists also important to point out that Ishin-Denshin are huge fans of Andromeda, like every single one of them loves them, they def have been following Andromeda since their school idol days and they are still not over the fact that they ended up in the same company

Ishin-Denshin and GRIMM parade are a bit closer, i think because they are the same age, and because Ryunosuke insisted they should be rivals LOL it didn't happen tho, because Ishin-Denshin are just sweeties, and were like "no thank you <3", so Ryunosuke settled on Ishin-Denshin being their supporters or smth anyways, they def hang out somewhat regularly, ofc each of GRIMM parade members is close to different Ishin-Denshin members i think main proper friendships i have are: Ryunosuke and Tadao (leaders and basically dads of their group... lowkey considering making them a couple ahaha...) Tonight was one of the worst nights that Chuck can think of. Not only did they lose to the BCC again he also got brutally mauled by the young man who he still claims as his son. Chuck could feel a bruise forming under his eye and his jaw hurts from the elbow jabs that Wheeler gave him. Everyone keeps telling Chuck that he should just forget about Wheeler and stop believing that he's gonna come back to him and Best Friends, that Wheeler is a lost cause but like always Chuck still tries to find the sweet boy he mentored and loved as his own flesh and blood inside the violent monster he became.

While Rocky and Trent shared a room, Chuck opted to have a room by himself so he can have some quiet and listen to his thoughts. "Should I just give up on him? He seems to be happier and is becoming a better wrestler than when he was with us and was getting trained by me" he thought. Chuck looks at some old photos of him and Wheeler on his phone and he can feel tears starting to form in his eyes. Sure they weren't related by blood but he still felt like Wheeler was his actual son, like he was some precious little thing that needed to be loved and protected from every bad thing in the world. Wheeler even called Chuck "dad" on some occasions and it made his heart swell when he knew Wheeler thought of him as family too.

He felt the tears fall down his face at the happy memories of the times he's shared with his son. Even if Wheeler beats him up til he's unrecognizable, Chuck would still love him.

He heard a knock at the door and he wiped the tears from his eyes. When he opened the door he was shocked to see Wheeler standing there looking like he's about to cry. "Wheeler? w-what are you doing he..." he couldn't finish his sentence before Wheeler hugged Chuck and started crying into his chest. "I'm so *hic* sorry *hic* dad!" Wheeler said while streams of tears were falling down his face. Chuck just held Wheeler and ushered them to the bed where he continued to hold him. "Why are you sorry Wheeler?" Chuck asked while slowly rocking Wheeler. "Cause ever since I joined the BCC, I attacked you, berated you, beat you until you were unconscious, for fucks sake I even fucking used the move you taught me on you! It's been eating me up inside knowing that I hurt you and you don't even deserve it! Tonight was just another reason why I don't deserve to have been taught by you or even be your son! You probably fucking hate me now" Wheeler said and started to sob harder.

Chuck patted his sons back and cupped his face so Wheeler could look at him. "Wheeler, I could never hate you because I love you with all my heart" Chuck said with tears starting to fall down his face again. "I know you have to act tough around those guys and I'm proud that you found a stable where you can become the best wrestler you could be" Chuck said while wiping the tears from Wheeler's eyes. "Yes, beating me almost unconscious after the match ended was a little uncalled for...but I guess we could call it even because I did throw a chair at mox at the beginning of the match but in my defense he's a cocky son of a bitch who needed to be knocked down a peg" Chuck said which made Wheeler laugh. "Finally, I'm glad you use the move I taught you because it means that I made such a huge impact in your career and I'm fucking proud to call you my son even if we're not related" Chuck said which made Wheeler smile that made Chuck's heart melt. "R-really? You're proud of me and you still love me?" Wheeler said while wiping the last remaining tears from his eyes. "Cross my heart and hope to die" Chuck said while making an "x" over his heart and kisses Wheeler's forehead.

Wheeler hugs him super tight, "I love you so much dad" he says. "Love you too Wheelsie, now how about we order some room service and watch some TV? I think Transformers is about to come on and I know you love that movie" Chuck says smiling while Wheeler shakes happily. "Fuck yes! I want grilled cheese for dinner!" he says happily. After eating some room service and watching his sons favorite movie with him, Chuck tucks Wheeler into bed and just looks at his adorable baby with so much love. He kisses his forehead and whispers "I'm glad you crashed into my life Wheeler, and I'm glad to be your father and no matter what stable you're in, I will still love and support you with all my heart." With that said he gets into bed with his son, who rolls over and lays on Chuck's chest which Chuck gladly appreciates and then falls asleep with the best thing that's ever happened to him.

I’ve actively been trying to be worse at work lately. I don’t know what else to do for my sanity. I’ve got one coworker, technically the stable manager, who I’m pretty sure is making at least $2 more than me an hour and is salaried while I’m still hourly. Btw we’re the same age and both have ADHD, and I came here from managing and running a whole stable on my own and according to rumor he came here from getting fired off a craft beer assembly line for being late, so it just goes to show you that being a charismatic tall white boi will get you everywhere in life. He’s late all the time. Chronically late. 70 minutes on average. He lives on the property his parents’ money must have bought him that’s about 10 minutes away so there’s not much excuse. Believe me—I get the time blindness issues. He actually has medication for it sometimes. I have 3 devices that read me the time every hour and half a dozen alarms. The worst part is that I can’t blame him for not caring—for doing a shitty job. Even while he’s making more than me he’s not really making anything worthwhile. The boss couldn’t fire him because there’d be no one to get distracted and cut down dead trees all evening instead of doing other crucial chores that I’ll have to come in and do on top of all my other work the next day. I do value what he brings, really. Every barn needs a tinkerer who goes on side quests. That guy probably shouldn’t also be manager but WHATEVer. I do my best manage him without overstepping too much. All the time. It’s exhausting,

This morning I was trying to formulate a plan to ask the boss for a raise. I mean—we do the same job! (I do it better.) Next week the ‘manager’ is going on vacation and leaving me to deal with/train the new 17 year old worker who’s apparently never touched a horse, the only person the boss was able to find in 3 months who’s been willing to work for the laughable wage they’re offering. I can just see her guilt tripping me. Acting angry. People with money and power only act friendly until you stand up for yourself. If you’ve ever dared to ask for what you’re owed you know what I mean. The devil light that comes into their eyes. The instant transformation like Bilbo Baggins when he sees the ring. It’s terrifying. I can’t afford to be afraid of that vitriol. I tell myself I don’t care. I do though.

The barn is clean tonight. The horses are grazing. They’re safe and clean and well. I worked 11 hours today to make sure they would be. The manager didn’t even have AM feed prepped for me, after I came in for an extra half hour on my day off to help him with feed the day before. The boss texted me at 1 pm to ask if I needed help, after I’d already done 95% of the work alone. I said no because when she comes out to ‘help’ it’s sweet but ultimately she’s just another person to babysit and I don’t have the energy.

Ever more frequently I have to remind myself—they don’t care. Nobody else cares as much as you. You’re not being paid to care. They don’t care about you.

So instead of abiding by my strict code of honor maybe I do leave work a few minutes early. Maybe I do leave a few buckets uncleaned. Maybe I do bring my dogs to work with me when no one is around, even though it’s strictly forbidden. The manager does. Sometimes I do start work a few minutes late. I can’t be better than management or I’ll start to resent everything. So I actively try to be just as bad as they are.

I’m not very good at it though. I care too much and I know better.
