20 Questions for Fanfiction Writers
tagged by: @andtherewerefireworks. THANK YOU. <3 <3 <3
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
206, apparently. O.o I didn't realize it was that much. Whoops. >.>;;;;;; ...when did I end up with 55 fics in the MCU. I knew I had a lot in JTV, but when did I end up with that many in the MCU
2) What's your total AO3 word count?
2,039,621.
3) What fandoms do you write for?
Uh...currently? ...uh...let me check my pinned post. Uh. Danganronpa (not DRV3 because I haven't finished it yet; specifically Junko etc. I like rewrites and consequences more than...crossovers...right now. I would rather play with canon...ish). MCU (specifically Wanda-related etc. re: Wandavision and DSMOM, but also add the Ancient One and also add Viv Vision because I love her). JTV (because yes, I can be persuaded to write more Roisa stuff). Miscellaneous Kathryn Hahn etc. (frequently referred to as Hahnverse, specifically beyond Agatha I will also write Eve Fletcher and Claire Debella). Who Framed Roger Rabbit (because yes, I can also be persuaded to occasionally write more Jessica Rabbit stuff, although it is often highly specific to my Jess). Puella Magi Madoka Magica (just because I haven't in a very long time does not mean I can't). Noir (the 2001 anime; just because I have very little posted doesn't mean I won't write for this). The Haunting of Bly Manor (specifically Dani and Viola and we pretend that most of the last episode didn't happen because I love Viola and I like looking at the complications of that whole situation). ...probably others that I can't think about at the moment, honestly.
4) Top Five Fics by Kudos:
By kudos? 1) What Dreams May Come. 2) Finding Family. 3) Lost Causes. 4) Make Life Worthwhile. 5) Take A Sad Song and Make It Better. Surprised by that last one, honestly, but not by the other four. The top two on my stats are pretty much always Bly Manor Fix-It Fic and FF; they just switch places every now and again.
5) Do you respond to comments?
Sometimes. I respond to comments if I feel I have a response or if I want to continue the dialogue or if I'm asked a question and don't put it off for a while (I'm really bad at this, actually). But I feel like a lot of comments...don't need...a response? And have been running into the weird situation lately where responding to comments...feels like...it keeps people from commenting? Which is? A weird feeling?
6) What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Timeline canon doesn't count (I see you out there reading this) because that's not fic, that's rp. And, I mean, technically that had a happy ending. Technically. the day her line went flat. hands down. i've got some other angsty stuff that comes to mind, but like. nothing like that one, i don't think. ...but if I ever finish it all happens so quick, that may take it.
7) What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
...uh. Hm. I think probably Finding Family, because it was nearly 375k of build up (385k if you include the Holiday Special) and character development and relational development just to get to that ending so that it felt well earned and deserved and still not expected even though set up and just. I knew the ending of that one when I started it, and it was exactly what I wanted it to be, and I think it's the most happy because it's the most right and complete and just.... I don't know how to put words to it, but that one.
8) Do you get hate on fics?
I've gotten bot hate on my MCU fics by bots who want me to switch to a different fic website, which I don't think really counts. I haven't gotten hate as comments on AO3 fic, BUT I DID have a period early last year and some the year before of A LOT of Anon hate, some of which was fic hate. Specifically character interpretation. But that felt more like a campaign of hate against me and that was just the avenue they were deciding to use at that particular time because there was so much other hate they were sending, so like. ...yeah, that was a thing.
9) Do you write smut?
Nope.
10) Craziest crossover?
Heart in Motion aka the JTV/ODAAT crossover that no one asked for and then everyone asked for and then I never went back to. XD
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of!
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! Partly! Someone started translating Finding Family into Russian! With permission! You can find it here!
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! Room for One I co-wrote with @butimnotasexyrussian! IT WAS GREAT.
14) All time favorite ship?
Honestly, I don't think I have one. I love Jess/Scully and Jess/Regina. I love the Valentines. But my shipping favs are flexible at best.
15) What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
What Dreams May Come. I don't think I left it in a good spot, as opposed to If You Lived Here, You'd Be Home Now, which is unfinished and will probably stay unfinished but at least stops at a good spot.
16) What are your writing strengths?
Consistency. I'm very consistent in terms of world-building and maintaining exact specifics through a fic. I keep my through threads, usually, and if I set something up, it's probably going to pay off later.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
EVERYTHING IS ALWAYS SO LONG. WHAT IS WRITING SHORT STUFF, I DON'T KNOW HER. But also plot. And description. And setting. I suck at all of these things. Oh, also, having characters have distinct voices. All of my characters sound the same. -shrugs-
18) Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
I don't have a problem with it, but I very rarely do it. I'm worried I'll get something wrong!
19) First fandom you wrote in?
Tales of Symphonia. I was in, like, middle school, and I did not post it. Fortunately. (This does not count RP, which I was doing earlier than that. That's not the same. And to be honest, I'm not sure I would know the answer then. Teen Titans or Inu-Yasha, maybe? I'm not sure.)
20) Favorite fic you've written?
It's a toss up between Luisa and the Fox and Surrogate. Probably there's something else I'm forgetting but will remember after I post this. But honestly? It's probably one of those two.

Saw this and thinking of your criticism about Phase 4 of MCU
Hey sorry for the late response and thank you for sharing! Wow, that video was a roller-coaster of "hey I agree with that" and "oh holy no, shut up please" 😂
So first, the things I agree with. I really like this quote:
"There's an over emphasis on representation where instead of it being a strength for this phase it has become a crutch and a shield to any sort of criticism. Representation in phase 4 is being used as a threat, as if minorities have to like something simply based on the fact that their culture, religion, ethnicity or sexual identity is being represented".
We spoke about just that when it came to the Loki series ("a bit of both" is NOT representation), when Victoria Alonso claimed the negative reviews for Eternals only came from bigots, when some fans yell "racist!" or "misogynist!" or "homophobe!" if you dare to criticize a POC, woman or queer character while Marvel and Disney smile at how easily they can get the audience to believe they're progressive.
The toxicity in the MCU fandom is being fueled by Marvel and Disney, through some of their series and movies & in some interviews as well.
It has happened in Phase 4 far more than in previous phases, I'm not sure why the change happened but it sure feels like they want to use the so-called "representation" to make up for the lack of characterization and storybuilding - and if they did a good job with the rep that would be great, but they don't, it's always a line or something so convoluted that it sounds preachy instead of natural (this video has been the first time I've seen Jen and Bruce and wow it's really, really bad).
I also like this quote when she's discussing new characters:
"It feels unearned because until we get to know a person's weaknesses, their struggles, and see them work towards excellence we really don't care if they win"
I feel that way with Sylvie. We were told of her trauma but we never really see her struggling on-screen. They're so focused on showing how perfect she is that they refuse to give us even one weakness, choosing instead to make Loki weak beside her so she can rise above him and show how superior she is.
It's absolute nonsense. We've known these characters for years, why are they introducing new ones whose only purpose is to prove how much better they are than the old ones?
Now, those two are the things I agree with, but the video does take a nasty turn halfway.
Besides the fact that it's too biased in favour of the movies pre Phase 4 (they were not perfect at all, this downward spiral did not start last year, it did a few years before that) & the fact that she claims CW was about safety vs freedom (it wasn't, not even close), I don't think it's fair to take every single movie and show released in Phase 4 and claim they're all the same.
I noticed that the only time they mention Moon Knight is to talk about Layla and say she didn't earn her powers. I personally disagree but that's subjective, the point is: the OP doesn't mention anything about Marc. Why not? Because his characterization is brilliant, the entire plot is about him and he's never shown as weak or lesser than - it doesn't fit the narrative of the video so she doesn't mention it.
Same with WandaVision. Wanda is not framed as a good girl in the end and that scene the OP includes in the video of Monica showing compassion to her does not work and is not intended to work as an absolution, not at all.
That's the problem when you want to make a blanket statement about roughly 15 different movies and series, they're not the same and you can't. Like when she says TFATWS doesn't paint Karli as the villain (I don't know what show she watched but it did, oh Disney made sure of that) or when she says all men in Phase 4 are being talked down or treated as villains when that's not true at all (Loki and Stephen were but they had the same writer).
So yeah, overall I agree with what she says but I think at some point the video does go a little too overboard. Phew, that was long! (My reply is longer than the video! 😜😂)

Multiverse of Madness Review
I have collected my thoughts about Multiverse of Madness. Watched it yesterday in cinema.
So the movie was insane. I would give it a solid 8/10.
My highlights:
-Full extent of villain Wanda including insane and impressive fights and show off of her powers.
-America Chavez was a great addition to the movie and universe. She can travel through the multiverse and is the only person that does not dream. Dreams are a way to look into the multiverse and see your other mes.
-The Cameos. Expect to see Captain Carter (What if), Richard Reed/Mister Fantastic (Fantastic Four, sadly no Ioan Gruffudd), Mister X/Professor Charles Xavier (X-Men). Also Christine Palmer and Karl Mordo return. But no Iron Man, just discount robots.
-Doctor Strange gets the chance to show off his powers and knowledge. Also the teamwork with Wong is impressive.
-The Fights. Wanda vs. Kamar-Taj was awesome, Wanda vs. The Illuminate was insane. The end fight was also impressive.
My dislikes:
-Some of the shots/editing were weird and out of place. Some of the pacing or cuts weren't as clean. Some scenes are over a bit too soon and needed more room to breathe, and some of the 'horror' / 'jump scares' were maybe a bit over the top.  It was far more comic horror than I expected andit ain´t that scary like all say.
-Strange was not really allowed to move on and make real character progress. The marriage scenes were downright cringe but so typically MCU. Superheroes are allowed one love interest only and that forever. "I will always love you in every universe". Corny and yeah the mid credit scene says otherwise. His happiness depending on his love life is another classic and overused trope.
-Wanda does not have her redemption arc from Wandavision. The director outright said I only watched one episode of Wandavision and that was it and that was clearly shown in the movie. Wandas motivation and ending was not very clear because of that and in the end it was basically the same thing as in Wandavision. She dies in the end to protect all the universe from the darkhold. I don´t believe she is really dead.
-Mid/Endcreditscenes. Midcredit Scene was weird and confusing and I understood nothing because I don´t know the character. The Endcreditscene was downright insane.
So basically the plotline was not as great as expected. And it was not really about multiverse like expected. It was a solid movie and it was fun to watch. Not gonna lie. Don´t have your expectation to high through and watch it like it is. A insane Doctor Strange Movie.
8/10.

I think it’s time to murder Josh
- Oh, wonderful. Now Jen lost the only tailor she had. Is this TV show gonna give her something that won't be taken away, or are we just gonna get accustomed to her loosing everything from privacy, through dignity to clothes? (Edit: At least she got him back at the end of this story, but ofc lost something else - her privacy and humanity).
- Holly molly xD JENNIFER VS. MATT COURT SHOWDOWN! Where is "Objection!"? I need it. Now I need Ace Attorney with them both.
Tumblr media
- Sokovia Accords have been... repealed... so therefore every superhero has a right to privacy. (Disclaimer: We do not know what exactly was written in the Sokovia Accords. All the things listed on Wiki come from secondary sources that ARE NOT CANON for MCU as far as we know. The only clauses we know for sure are the ones mentioned in the TV shows that are canon (WandaVision for example), and not even a single one of them talks about privacy, and even if it would still be between UN and the superheroes, it would not be disclosed to the public who is who, because UN would recognize how dangerous that may be to the families of said superheroes). And this case is sensitive to Matt, because he would be on the client list. Is it even possible to repeal INTERNATIONAL TREATY? *googles* "The repeal by Congress of the “self-executing” clauses of a treaty as “law of the land” does not of itself terminate the treaty as an international contract, although it may very well provoke the other party to the treaty to do so. Hence, the questions arise where the Constitution lodges this power and where it lodges the power to interpret the contractual provisions of treaties. The first case of outright abrogation of a treaty by the United States occurred in 1798, when Congress by the Act of July 7 of that year, pronounced the United States freed and exonerated from the stipulations of the Treaties of 1778 with France". But this is only about treaties between two countries (bilateral). What about treaties that span over 100 of them? (multilateral) "Typically, a treaty provides for its termination by notice of one of the parties, usually after a prescribed time from the date of notice. Of course, treaties may also be terminated by agreement of the parties, or by breach by one of the parties, or by some other means". Like I said, those quotes are from a page that strictly talks about treaties between two countries like the USA and France, and not about treaties that have many countries involved. I am not sure if in the case of Sokovia Accords all countries that signed are the sides, or UN is the ultimate side opposing every single country and therefore the country can negotiate termination of their "membership" with them. However, I did some more research, and it looks like that for multilateral treaties that Sokovia Accords are "termination" would mean that the treaty ceases to exist for all States parties. There was no mention of repealing, but there was mention of withdrawal. So USA could only withdraw from Sokovia Accords. I only saw the word "repealed" used in context of bilateral treaties, which Sokovia Accords ARE NOT. I once again have to put into question if MCU writers do research about LAW. But this time I am putting it into question in a show ABOUT LAW. It would be grossly unprofessional if they didn't, but it looks like they really did not check what they are writing about and how they established Sokovia Accords in MCU when it comes to actual fucking law.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- You know that I ship Tony with literally everybody? Including Jen and Matt? Well, this show just upgraded my V polycule into triad polycule lololololol. Jen and Matt are so cute, but with Tony in the mix? Even fucking more cute and chaotic and all that snark, OMG.
- Jen did one thing that no villain ever thought to do. Take Matt's helmet off xD
- "I am sorry I assumed that the guy dressed as the devil was a bad guy" xDDD "It's very daring to use ketchup and mustard as your color scheme" HAHAHAHAHAHA. I love this.
- Did Leapfrog just told Luke to make him suit with british AI...? Iron Man references everywhere, lol. The guy really thinks he is a big deal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- OMG, Jen and Matt had sex, yeah, BUT THAT SCENE AFTER? WHEN MATT JUST GOES BACK TO WHEREVER HE WAS STAYING, MARCHING WITHOUT BOOTS ON A GRASS (doing the walk of shame lol), WHISTLING AND HUMMING WHILE THAT OLD LADY LOOKED AT HIM WEIRDLY?! That was priceless OMG, hilarious.
- I would really badly prefer "another Hulk but Red" and that Hulk to be Betty Ross over Jen getting fridged. (If you do not know, “being fridged” refers to the “woman in the refrigerator” trope in which a woman is killed for the sake of giving male character motivation).
- Oh damn... she lost her cool and "became a monster in the eyes of others". OH NO. "She is a slut". Seriously? So is every male superhero. Matt, Tony, EVERYONE. You think Bruce is not a "slut"? He is the biggest fucking slut! For science and bed times alike. Men are so weird when they call sexually active women "sluts" but do not do the same to themselves or other men who also sleep around and engage in casual sex. Or specifically date women for sex alone. Assholes!

Things that do not need to be in the Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness Movie:
SPOILERS AHEAD!
DO NOT READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO SPOIL THE MOVIE!
1. No need to overpower Wanda or bigger guns will be brought in. Nothing wrong with that but I want to see Wanda learning through the Darkhold and also working to resist it’s dark power.
2. Doctor Strange is not stupid. He is a very intelligent man who would make some good decisions but the movie ruined that except for the times he saved America Chavez and showed Wong respect. He also wouldn’t have revealed America’s location in seconds. He doesn’t personally know Wanda. He’s never interacted with her before. He wouldn’t have revealed so much just because she is an avenger and they fought beside each other but never acknowledged each other.
3. Leave Christine alone. Strange doesn’t need a love interest. Christine deserves better. She didn’t need to be in the movie except for her wedding scene.
4. I don’t know if it is only me or does Strange’s love for Christine feels more like an attachment to the past rather than real love. (Don’t attack me) They don’t need romantic love to exist on the same plane. The line where Strange says that he loves her in every universe is just … meh. If it was explored more and the movie was actually focused on strange that it would’ve been more believable. Why go back to their love when Strange clearly was ready to move on in the first movie. Give him Clea or someone else so he can have a fresh start.
5. Doctor Strange is supposed to be the most powerful sorcerer but he didn’t do shit. He had a better fight scene against that octopus style demon than against Wanda.
7. I would’ve actually liked to see Wong THE SORCERER SUPREME have a good fight scene. He didn’t become the sorcerer supreme only based on a technicality. There were other factors and I would’ve loved to see those.
8. I thought we established in WandaVision that Wanda is not a villain but more of a morally gray character. She didn’t need to be the villain. Any other villain would’ve been fine. Strange has a whole background story that could’ve been explored and still included Wanda.
9. I would’ve preferred if this movie was focused more on Strange than on Wanda. Following that Wanda should’ve had her own movie to explore many other factors than just becoming a villain.
10. Why bring the Illuminati with some of the strongest heroes and kill them in seconds??? What was the point?? I think we established that Wanda is very very very strong in the first 30 mins. Did not need that. Where are the 15 cameos? Why did they reveal the cameos in the trailers/teasers? Nothing surprising in the movie? I read so many posts that predicted half the movie.
11. Wanda didn’t have to die! So tired of the woman become too powerful to control or will go to the dark side so she must sacrifice herself or her powers to save the world. Overdone.
12. One of the best things about the movie is that they mention Spider-Man. Wong and Strange remember him!!!
13. The movie was too fast paced. Again Wanda didn’t need to be a villain. Mordo could’ve very well served that role. They could’ve gone many ways except for that one. Doctor Strange wasn’t explored enough. The storyline was a bit cringey. Sam Raimi did not do anything impressive. Yes there are many things that were good but the movie did not live up to its hype.
Please do not come after me. These are some of my thoughts on the most hyped movie of the year that turned out to be not so amazing.

Okay so I joked about this while replying to a fic comment from @pokimoko but y’know what...I’ll say it in public. Several Phase Four films and shows should’ve taken place during the Blip with Endgame capping it all off before the next phase and here’s why.
What Movies/Shows Are We Moving In the Timeline
Black Widow - This is cheating, technically, as it DOES take place between Infinity War and Endgame. The only difference is that in this alternate universe, it would’ve ACTUALLY been released between the two.
WandaVision
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier - HEAR ME OUT, I will explain my logic below, trust me on this one.
Moon Knight
The Defenders/Marvel Netflix - I know these have technically already been released, so this would really just be Marvel sneaking in a cheeky wee press memo stating that they have been retconned into the period of time between Infinity War and Endgame.
I think you could also make an argument for Ms. Marvel BUT I haven’t watched it yet (I KNOW I KNOW I’M SORRY) so I’ll reserve judgment on that one. I also feel like you could make an argument for an alternate version of Hawkeye that takes place during this time period and would make a better and less stupid arc for Clint (and one that’s closer to the comics!) but I haven’t watched that either, so yeah.
The only major change that would be required of Infinity War here is that we’d un-Snap Sam, Bucky, and Wanda, and instead snap Steve.
My Overall Logic For These Changes
Listen, Marvel did nothing with the Snap/the Blip and I’m mad about it. Like, this is a universe-shattering event, basically apocalyptic, and the effects of that are BARELY explored. Here’s a list of the things that definitely happened during the Blip that are not adequately explored because they just did a time skip and then forgot about it:
> Definitely more than half the universe’s population was lost after the Snap. There’s no way the sudden loss of people doing things like “driving vehicles” and “performing surgeries” and “being the sole caretaker of a vulnerable adult or child” didn’t result in mass casualties.
> This majorly upends pretty much every societal structure that exists. Government, commerce, everything. Think about how we are still feeling the effects of what lockdowns did to manufacturing and such during 2020, then imagine that but worse. Imagine half the government on every single level suddenly gone. Imagine the chaos that would cause. Chaos that includes...
> Crime. So much crime. All the crime. Any structures that could prevent crime have been cut off at the knees and people will take advantage of that, especially when a lot of the major players that could stop them are gone (this will be especially important to my Marvel Netflix logic).
> Also, the kind of people who will fill the power gaps left by half the government/law enforcement/military/etc. suddenly vanishing will not all be people you want in charge. These will be people who are taking advantage of a bad situation to further their own goals.
All of these are potentially interesting story setups, but again, Marvel did nothing with it, so moving some stories would fix that problem. It also fixes the problem of Thanos having never meaningfully been criticized for his stupid mass murder plan and would help shut up the Thanos Is Right crowd by showing that no, actually, this was the equivalent of throwing gasoline on an open flame.
Individual Logic For Each Story
Black Widow - Again, this is cheating, it already canonically takes place in the middle of the Infinity War arc, but I think releasing them between the two would’ve added more immediate oomph to Natasha’s death in Endgame if we’ve REALLY got to stick with that (double bonus points: it sets up that we can include her found family in Endgame to similar effect).
WandaVision - There’s basically nothing in WandaVision’s plot that keeps it from taking place during the Blip. The only real change you’d have to make to the plot is swapping which Rambeau was Snapped. All the emotional resonance would be kept intact, and it would explain why literally no other Avenger stepped in to help Wanda in the wake of her grief--there was too much going on for anyone to notice she’d gone off the rails.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier - This one would require the most plot changes, but hear me out. The version of TFATWS where the Flag Smashers are fighting against post-Snap governments that are actively becoming more corrupt and divisive instead of banding together in a time of crisis. Sam having to take on the banner of Cap under circumstances that aren’t completely stupid and derail Steve’s character. Not having to skirt around why Steve isn’t involved in Sam not being made Captain America despite that being his express wish at the end of Endgame (like, fr, they never explicitly establish that Steve died, so where the hell is he??). It would also explain why the US government is so eager to establish a new Captain America: they’re trying to slap a band-aid on the many, many problems going on in the world, and think “well if we have a new Captain America, that will help, right?” (Spoilers, it does not.) Also, just imagine the pain of one of the last shots of Infinity War being Sam stumbling over to where Steve dropped the shield and picking it up and getting the “we lost” line himself...imagine it. I’m right about this.
Moon Knight + The Defenders - I’m putting these two in the same entry because my logic for them is by and large the same: establishing street level vigilantes during a time when the world needs new and local heroes the most just makes sense to me, especially with all the bullshit that happens during these stories. Like, Khonshu moves the sky, a crime lord is blowing up chunks of NYC, Kilgrave exists, the Defenders blow up a whole-ass building, and somehow the government never gets involved?? Even in a post-Accords society??? It’s not a complete breaker-of-disbelief for me personally, but it does make a bit more sense logically. The only real hiccup in this is DD s1 alluding to Avengers One, but seeing how Thanos also rolled up with an alien spaceship and blew up at least parts of Greenwich Village, I think we can accept it as a retcon and move on (I know I wouldn’t question it too much). You could also use this logic to move Shang Chi into this part of the timeline too, tbh, and is part of the reason why my gut says Ms. Marvel could’ve taken place in this time period, but like, again, I still haven’t watched it, so grain of salt.
Resulting Changes to Endgame That I Think Would Improve The Movie, Actually
> Steve Rogers could have a better way of retiring or changing career paths that doesn’t absolutely suck. He gets un-Snapped, he sees all the work Sam has done, he tells him to keep the shield because Sam is the Captain America the world needs now. He either retires or moves on to be an independent operator.
> Deletes the dumb bullshit exchange between Tony and Steve that happened in early Endgame.
> Again, we can put Yelena in Endgame and that would add more pain to Natasha’s death (assuming we keep that, which, again, WHATEVER, MARVEL-).
> You could stick some of the new guys from Phase 4 into the final battle, which I don’t have strong opinions about PERSONALLY but it WOULD make the nerd crowd happy, so that’s a win for Marvel.
> Also, disclaimer, I haven’t watched the new Doctor Strange, but personally I think the logic of WandaVision -> Endgame -> MoM makes more sense for Wanda’s plotline, as it adds the pain of her seeing so many people get their loved ones back, but not her. Everyone is moving on, but she’s still lost everything. (Bonus round, this could serve as a criticism of the Avengers just. Straight up not reversing everything. Shows that the pain of the Blip extends beyond just the people who went missing and the short-sightedness of some caused many more to suffer. Yes I WILL be addressing this in meet me at our spot, what of it-)
Anyways thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness review, part 1
We're diving right into the action and get introduced to America Chavez with a camera move onto the star that's a bit too cheesy for my taste.
The return of Dr. West gives us a tired old joke about people with cats. Not surprising he'd list his cats before his brother. He does have character issues (and as if Strange doesn't), so he might have not gotten along that well with his brother, whereas the cats wouldn't have that problem with him. Personally I find it sweet that someone loved him - so what if they weren't members of his own species?! I wouldn't be surprised if West invented the brother just because he wanted some sympathy from Strange. Why should pets count so much less than humans?! They love us, we love them - those are real relationships!
Look, it's not that I dislike Strange, but when Wong joined the fight, that tickled me! He is the Sorcerer Supreme after all, so he better not be forgotten. Not to mention, he's fun.
So I guess Raimi likes action up on the side of a building. And I can't blame him, it is fun - when you're not part of it yourself.
Speaking of nauseating stuff: That eye thing with Shuma-Gorath really wasn't necessary!
Ha, America asking if Spidey shoots webs out of his butt. I mean, it's a valid question!
It's fun how Strange answers 3 questions in a row, but after having the movie seen twice, I still don't know what America asked. Someone please enlighten me.
I really want a clarification about dreams being a window to the multiverse. Some dreams really are just dreams, right? Are there only some people who can dream of alternate realities, and if so, what gives them the ability? I mean, does it take more than just having a counterpart in the multiverse? And does America really not dream at all?
So either America has been in the MCU for a while and Strange's dream was't broadcast live or Defender Strange is rotting fast. Maybe the effect of getting killed by that bandage creature?
Aha, so sorcery and witchcraft are different branches of magic. I still want to know more. So you have to be born for witchcraft, but for sorcery it's enough to be taught? As Ned's magic is inherent, does that mean he could do witchcraft instead? And why wasn't he at the Kamar Taj? He didn't forget everything that happened in NWH, did he?
Although we had already been told that dreams are visions of what's happening to a a variant of yourself, I wondered why the Minimoffs had switched beds from WandaVision. Because I still consider normal dreams to exist.
Ah, there's a traffic light by Tommy's bed! I knew there was something about a traffic light that I wanted to include into my Peter Maximoff truthering, but I'd forgotten where it appeared in WandaVision.
I was so confused by the new Hex at first, why one would be necessary. Now I guess that practicing all that Darkhold magic had killed the trees, so Wanda made the orchard pretty again in an attempt to fool Strange.
Wanda complains about the unfairness in the different judgement of her actions and Strange's. In a way she's right, but in another way: Girlfriend, while you didn't do these things on purpose, you did them for yourself - Strange did them for others. I know, I know, I can't expect her to make sense when she's under the influence of the Darkhold! sigh
So… what, Wanda isn't the same as the Scarlet Witch? Witch please, what are you talking about? Come on, we didn't even get to see our Wanda this movie (except at the very end), that was all the Scarlet Witch. Okay, but I hate this differentiation. And Strange uses it later too, talking about Wanda calling herself a witch as if it's bad. They're telling me they're really doing this? The Scarlet Witch is only the version of Wanda who's influenced by the Darkhold? Witches (you know, a group consisting only of women, as far as we're aware) in general are bad? But that wouldn't make sense with what WandaVision showed us. There was no indication that Agatha's coven was evil.
Liking Rintrah so far. Please tell me more! How did a green cow person come to study at the Kamar Taj? Is he from another dimension like Ta-Lo? Or an alien?
Ugh, Wanda's stilted words during the negotion with Strange and her stereotypical villain acting during most of the film. But I guess you can explain that away with the Darkhold, Agatha had that affliction too. Wanda only seemed like a real person when she was sad.
Ha, I was wondering if that gong was reflective enough, when America was covering that puddle. Why is this room full of puddles anyway? I swear it had a ceiling.
Aww, look at America having a nausea-inducing superpower! I want her and Peter to meet and high-five about it.
There's only one America in the whole multiverse? Okay, that's an American exceptionalism I can believe in.
Heh, she sent Strange and herself to the planet of the hats.
Not even in this utopic-looking New York the pizza balls are free, how disapointing.
If America was pulled through the same portal as her parents, how did they end up elsewhere? Was it like that trip with Strange, going through multiple universes and one of the parties travelled further? I had hoped by the end of the movie they would be reunited. America's story better be heading that way!

You know what I think of when I hear Yoko saying Paul's 'immovable heterosexuality'? That Wandavision meme of Kathryn Hahn winking. I'm a shy anon so can't include it in this ask, but trust me, it fits! My tin hat theory about this phrase is that it conveniently throws everyone off the trail of John and Paul being anything other than platonic bro's.. and while Paul & Yoko do the Widows At War thing, this is one story that they both agree on sticking to.. but for verrry different reasons. Paul for all his complicated insecurities and hang ups about masculinity and Yoko because she would literally DIE before anyone else is allowed to claim their place as John's Numero Uno. I think Phillip Norman probably went to Yoko and said something like 'look, there are a million examples of John being at least bi-curious.. It will come out anyways, but if I can get a quote from you, then I can spin it in a way that's more palatable to The Estate'. And Yoko being incredibly smart, knows that if she denies it, it will come out looking like she wasn't privy to a massive part of his life, so she's like 'yeah, he was just a bohemian! It's cool - I knew all about it because we had no secrets!!' but if Paul gets roped in as being a part of his bohemian experimentations, then suddenly, there are potentially TWO greatest love stories of all time. Can't have that! This way, everyone kind of wins. Paul gets to keep his ladies man reputation, Yoko is John's One True Love, and PN gets to publish his book (he wouldn't have been able to if there was the slightest whiff of a homo-scandal). Actually, this doesn't really sound very tin-hat, does it?
p.s hoping you'll post the meme at the bottom of this if you publish it :-)
Hello, I think most of this is correct. I do believe Yoko is very careful about how she crafts the image of their love story. That's been true since the moment they got together. It's also clear she's always wanted to minimise Paul and John. I do think she realised that some comment on John's queerness was going to be needed, although her own issues with it means she flip-flops on wanting to give it any air time at all.
All of which is why I'm not sure I follow the logic of how this proves she was lying about Paul's heterosexuality. Wouldn't it be much more in line with her aims to just say, "He thought of Paul as a little brother". Like, sure she's going to have trouble without admitting John's potential interest in other men, but why not use the line he himself apparently used of, "Only being able to do it if he loved a man, and he never met anyone he felt he could do that with". There's no need to loop Paul into this, all that does is raise questions and raises the profile of John's other great love outside of Yoko. At the time - and today - no one is seriously considering that John and Paul were romantically attached. So, there's no need to bring it up.
It seems more like a slip of tongue or just something she said off the cuff and then retracted. I suspect Yoko, like the rest of us, sometimes just wondered what the deal was between them. She's on tape from like day one going, "Wow, John sure seems hung up on Paul, good thing he's not a girl haha." And well... we know how that turns out.
And I assume you mean this one. It really does give a good vibe for how we ought to take most things coming out of the estate.

Ok so I mostly continue enjoying the character of Steve Rogers because I ignore that Endgame happened at all. I’m also good with the skrull Steve idea. But I also have another headcannon (that is probably out there already but I don't remember seeing) that I got reminded of recently:
That the visions/nightmares that Wanda gave them all in AOU did actually alter reality and their thoughts and futures but none of them know it – including Wanda.  And that is the reason for a lot of the inconsistencies that start around AOU (including Endgame Steve going to the past).
In AOU Wanda hasn’t had her full powers for long and doesn’t yet know a lot about controlling them - so I don’t see it as a deliberate thing (giving them all nightmare visions based on their biggest fears at the time yes, but not with the intention of them still affecting their lives years later).  Also, she didn’t know any of them before then so wouldn’t really know if anything changed.
But we see in Wandavision that she is able to alter reality, and the actions of others, sometimes without even knowing it.
They also all seem to do worse/more like their nightmares when she is not around, particularly after she dies in IW.  So being close to her may have actually held the visions back from taking them over somehow.  But they do eventually all end up living out their visions.
Steve
Ok so in CATWS Steve reunites with Peggy as an old lady after he wakes up in the future. He tells her he owed her a dance, and she should be proud of her life. He also expresses his worries about SHIELD to her but is told to stop being dramatic and move forward. But he later discovers she had actually been working for decades with known Hydra agent Zola – the one he captured just before 'dying' – who had then continued to do terrible things in the world, (including torturing and mind controlling Bucky and continuing Hydra within Shield - where he now worked) Steves reaction is to destroy the organisation she had created and then head off to find Bucky. It seems like that discovery would be a bit traumatic. But we are told that he is also sad that he chose not to go dancing - so there is also that.
His nightmare is him in a dance hall that seems at first a happy place where everyone is enjoying themselves.  But then he starts to hear the war still going on and sees a few things that indicate that too.  Cameras also keep flashing in his face - something something Cap being a pubic symbol? (no Bucky but it does show a dark haired man with a star on his arm getting into a fight with a blond guy in the background as he walks past)
Tumblr media
Then Peggy appears dressed up and smiling at him and says ‘Are you ready for our dance?   The war is over Steve we can go home, imagine it’.  He doesn’t really react to her, he actually turns away and tries to see what is going on behind him but everything in the room disappears (he actually turns away twice while she is talking to him and everyone disappears the second time - and they all disappears when he goes to look back at the room - not when he tries to look back at Peggy again because he doesn't try to look back at Peggy like you would expect from a scene about him loosing her?).  And then we get a flash of him dancing with Peggy.
And ok I know it is supposed to be about him being sad about missing out on a life with her in the past (and also not being able to live without a war or something??) – but it doesn’t make sense given that everyone else’s were them experiencing the bad thing they were scared of –they didn’t have dreams about what they wanted so they could be sad that it wasn't real or went away - that's not how the others worked!
But I feel like Steve's could also be interpreted as being about him realising that Peggy (and some others), who survived and got to go home and live her full life, actually spent that life ignoring all the suffering and the ‘war’ still going on by allowing a known Hydra members to continue doing his thing – just like she was ignoring everything he saw and heard there and just wanted him to dance and go home with her and focus on that.  And maybe he has some kind of regret or guilt, that makes this his fear, around having been chatting to this woman about dancing while he went into the ice and when he got out, rather than being there to do something about it himself earlier/ or realising sooner or something, because almost everyone is dead and/or gone now (he tried to look back but the people in the dance hall disappeared – time moving on while he was in the ice then working for SHIELD) - or them using his name as, well a shield, while all of this happened.
And then after AOU Steve becomes increasingly obsessed with Peggy, despite never actually trying to date her or anything while he could have.  CATWS showed him finding out what happened and destroying her life’s work because it was rotten to the core.  But in CACW he is running off to attend her funeral like nothing happened.  And after she is gone he suddenly starts showing interest in the closest  person to Peggy that he knows - Sharon.  He goes from passive aggressively calling her neighbour and walking past her to hitting on her right after Peggy's funeral and then kissing her out of nowhere.  But then just as suddenly seems to forget about her once she is not around anymore ie the next movie.
In IW, with Peggy dead and no connection to her he seems to be back to himself.  But in EG after he is suddenly hit with the deaths of multiple people he was close with, he apparently can’t grieve for anyone else but Peggy.  His life becomes all about grief and the dead so that means it can all be about the now dead Peggy again.  And then he actually gets access to time travel he leaves his life to go back to Peggy.  Where they go (to a new) home together and they dance, while he ignores all that is going on around them -  just like she said they could in his nightmare vision.
Natasha
Her big trauma is the Red Room that she believes she has destroyed.
Her nightmare is her back in the Red Room but a lot of it is actually focused on the other girls.  It starts with her watching them and she says to the older woman that ‘he’ll  break them’ and is told by her that only the weak ones will break but she (Nat) is ‘made of marble’ ie she won’t break but they will.  She also asks the woman  ‘what if I fail?’.  Then she is shown being back in the Red Room herself being wheeled into surgery but the other girls have no mouths.
It turns out that the Red Room is still in operation despite her never hearing about it previously (after she got out) and that all the other girls are still trapped there, under even more control than she was - no free will (voices/mouths) at all.  So she did fail (to destroy it) – she got out but no one else did.  And she does have to go back to it to finally complete her destruction of it and free the other girls.
Tony
His main trauma is around him going into space alone during the fight in Avengers, where he was likely going to die trying to save everyone else.
His nightmare is his whole team dying on the battlefield and him being left alone looking out into the void of space.  A dead Steve tells him ‘you could save us’ and ‘why didn’t you do more’.
He ends up separated from his team (after CACW), with half of them dead (after IW), and him alone in space where he almost dies again.   But just before that Dr Strange gives up a stone to save Tony because apparently the only way to win is for Tony to beat Thanos which ultimately leads to Tony being the one that has to sacrific himself to save everyone in EG (despite being surrounded by superheros on the battlefield, many of whom were more powerful).
Thor
Thor has a lot of worries about becoming king, being the heir and leading his people etc.
In his nightmare he is told by Heimdall who sees all that he is ‘leading us all to hell’ and ‘we are dead, you are a destroyer see where your power leads’.  He also calls him the ‘first SON of Odin’ and Thor is shown accidentally killing one of the Asguardians by hitting him in the chest (with lightning) just before getting a vision of the stones.  Heimdall also keeps grabbing Thor around the head/neck and telling him ‘don’t you see’.
He ends up finding out that, while he is the first son of Odin, he is not his first child, as he meets his sister the god of death who kills a bunch of Asguardians.  He then has to destroy Asguard to save his people.  He leads them to safety and becomes king only to be almost immediately set upon by Thanos who kills a bunch more of them, including his brother and Heimdall.  So he does unwillingly lead many of them to their deaths.  (Then in IW he hits Thanos in the chest not the head/neck so half the universe ends up dying due to him using the stones.) Oh and he actually doesn't see so great after that because he looses an eye.
Bruce
Can’t really say much about Bruce because we don’t see his nightmare but we do see the result which is that he becomes uncontrollable as Hulk and destroys a city so it likely has something to do with that.  And after this he spends two years as Hulk only (Ragnarok), then he is Bruce again but can’t get Hulk to come out at all (IW), and eventually turns into a hybrid 'Professor Hulk' mix of Bruce and Hulk (EG). So ? could be something
Anyway - yes this is reaching.  No I don’t think they actually deliberately planned all of this (especially Steve's!).  Its just made up to explain some of the inconsistencies that happen after AOU and think its neat that a bunch of it kinda lines up

17 and 24 for the questions for writers?
Thanks for asking!!!!
17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.
Currently, I'm not working anything because my computer has decided to break but I had plans to work on Marvels Unsolved this weekend, so here's a little bit about that!
While I know that Buzzfeed Unsolved (which Marvels is based off of) has a fairly good-sized crew and also takes several months to go through editing before uploading, Marvels Unsolved has a cast/crew of three - Tony, Bucky, and Sam - and uploads almost in real time (I think I mentioned in the first part that there's about a week between filming and uploading). This is mostly because I forgot about giving them a larger crew until I was working on part 3 last year, and by that time, I'd already established that they'd been working just as the three of them for five years.
This verse takes place in a modified version of the MCU. The events of CATFA and Captain Marvel take place (with the exception of Steve being found in the 50s and living out his life with Peggy), but most of the rest of the franchise doesn't happen. One of the media that does happen in the Marvels Unsolved verse is Wandavision! I'll feature the Westview Anomaly in the next part, but this is, like the rest of the MCU canon in this verse, a modified Wandavision where Vision is human and he passes away prior to Wanda moving to Westview back in the early 2010s. She keeps her wedding ring with him, not realizing that Vision's ghost is attached to it. In the new house, she keeps seeing his ghost, which drives her to create the Westview Anomaly and her family. SHIELD and the FBI are unable to keep the whole thing quiet, and news of the vanished town spreads pretty quickly. It's a huge mystery, especially because none of the townspeople remember what happened once Westview reappears.
Since so much of what happens during the Anomaly isn't known by the average person in verse, most of the lore won't make it into the Marvels Unsolved episode, but I'm still really excited for all the spooky things that Sam, Bucky, and Tony will experience in the Maximoff house.
24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?
Depends on the story! The fics that turn into multi-story verses, like Marvels Unsolved, or are multichapter, like AKFC, get a lot of prep work. It usually takes me days or weeks worth of research, which mostly takes the form of writing down background info in a word doc that goes into a folder for the fic (though the prep work for Marvels Unsolved frequently involves rewatching Buzzfeed Unsolved episodes). I also watch similar films to get a sense of how a fic written in a particular setting might feel (I watched a lot of Hallmark movies for AKFC, and for MRaMRN, I watched a bunch of films about radio shows). This is one of my favorite parts about writing. I genuinely enjoy worldbuilding, and getting to include some of the details that I looked up when I was doing prep work is always fun. I like seeing what people pick up on when they're reading.
Weird writing question time!

Heyy! I love your blog, It really helps me when I'm sad, so thank you! I was wondering, how do you think Stephen felt and is feeling with Tony's death? Considering that ironstrange is canon (at least for me haha). Thank you very much!
Aww thank you! I'm glad you enjoy my blog as much as I enjoy having it :) Your statement made me smile! <3
Now, in regards to the question. A little disclaimer: whatever I write here may be heavily influenced by many fics. And, seeing as this is an open-ended question, my opinions/views may differ from someone else's, and if that's true, I'm open to discuss ;)
I've also answered an ask a while back that was talking about Stephen's (predictably, one-sided) feelings towards Tony during Endgame, and I've just assumed that (due to the millions of timelines he endured/looked through), he fell in love with every version of Tony there is, with how selfless the man is, etc. (We consider that canon here btw) And I think last time anon asked specifically about Stephen's feelings when he lifted his finger to Tony in the movie, which was hella sad tbh, for us IronStrange shippers at least :p (You can check out that specific ask here)
And ofc, right after those few moments, Marvel decided to kill Tony off (the AUDACITY). And I'm sure, in this case, not only Stephen was affected by his death; that includes Pepper, Peter, the rest of the avengers, too. Everyone basically :v But, one thing I'd just like to point out, is that he actually expected it. He looked through those million timelines, and he knew that this was the only outcome that requires the least damage (even if that damage comes in the form of Tony's death T-T). And, if I were to put myself in Steph's shoes, like any of us, I'd feel guilty. And I know he does, too. Even if it isn't exactly his fault (he had no other choice, anyway). And it's even sadder when you remember that he also blames himself for Donna's death, so it must've felt like history repeated itself from his side.
Handling with grief is horrible, it could do so much to a person, to the point that it may become too.... dangerous, sometimes (if how Marvel pictures grief in WandaVision is anything to go by. Kidnapping/enslaving a whole town is, btw, very very wrong, but that's a discussion for another time). But handling grief and guilt is an entirely different thing. The thought of knowing that someone's death was caused by you, someone's life was gone because of you, that burden may never cease from his shoulders. Even the very thought of it is horrifying, I couldn't imagine having to endure it.
And I know that, as a sorcerer, Stephen has duties he needs to fulfill (even if he isn't sorcerer supreme anymore), so he knew he had to survive. And what I mean by this is that, he knew the world still needed him, reality still needed saving, however broken he may be. (Gives a new definition to 'It's not about you', eh?) And though he knew his existence is the reason those two people have gone, the thought of not existing in the first place isn't a better thought, either. So he survived. He endured. He persisted. And that's just.... it's just sad. The once arrogant and big-headed man (still is, actually, but not as bad) is now (quite discreetly) very selfless. And I say 'selfless' because we all know he's done a lot of sacrifices. (Dormammu, using the time stone and meddling with laws of nature, manipulating time, whatever shit he did for Peter in NWH, you mention it.) And in this case, one of his sacrifices is having to endure the guilt of choosing the right timeline. The timeline where the snap, soon followed by the blip, happened, and then leading to so much deaths, and the inevitable climax of Tony's. And I know Steph blames himself for every part of it. The trauma, the grief, the lost time, the deaths, everything. He blames himself for it.
So, if you'd ask me, how would he deal with it? How would he cope? He doesn't. He doesn't because he doesn't have time for it (though he may be a little lost on the concept of time by now), what with all the stuff he needs to do as sorcerer, probably. The world, the reality, depended (and is depending) on him. And it's too much to risk for something like grief, coping, healing, or any of the such.
Which is why, I think, he must've been surprised when Peter, the boy that had to endure all the wrong things he did, came to his sanctum, to him, for help. So, of course, without hesitation, he had accepted. He had provided. Even if that meant all the... stuff that happened in NWH. (wince)
So yeah, that covers pretty much it. Wew, this became a bit of a rant, did it? I guess I'll stop this here.
Thanks for the ask! I hope this answers your question!

You didn’t know much, but one thing was for certain; you didn’t belong here.
This morning you had opened your eyes and were met with a town that seemed like the very definition of the suburban dream. Your mind screamed at you as soon as you came to in the strange and indisputably new environment, telling you that this town was your home. The fact that you couldn’t remember anything before your eyes had fluttered open didn’t fill you with the utmost confidence about the legitimacy of the voice in your head, or the utopia that surrounded you.
All you knew was that you came here to look for someone. This someone was someone very important to you and you had a feeling that you were exactly where you needed to be to find this someone. There was one minor problem though; you didn’t have a clue who this special someone was, just that you needed to find him.
Cautiously, you found yourself wandering the town that seemed to be lost in time. All of its residents dressed like they were all attending an 80s themed party, yourself included. You couldn’t recall pulling on the ridiculous getup but that voice told you not to worry about it. It wasn’t long before you were in the middle of the town square, people bustled around you happily, all of them eerily going about their day as if they hadn’t a care in the world. Nobody looked stressed or sad or anything other than animatedly happy.
The realisation caused a slight panic to begin in your chest, there was something very wrong happening here and you didn’t know what. The very second you began to show anything that didn’t come across as positively blissful, the voice you’d been hearing since you opened your eyes sounded in your brain, louder than ever.
You are happy here. WestView is home. You are home.
Despite her soothing tone, you weren’t convinced.
“Who are you?” You demanded out loud, whipping your head in all directions, eyes set in a glare as you watched the citizens of the town acting none the wiser to your question.
Within seconds a woman appeared before you, a sweet smile on her face and two children by her side. “Hey there, you must be the new neighbour.” She spoke kindly, something familiar about the woman caused you to immediately relax in her presence although that relaxation felt somewhat… forced.
With a hesitant nod you looked around again, you brought your eyes back to the little family and offered them your best friendly smile, “It seems I must be, yeah.”
The lady giggled and held her hand out towards you, “Nice to meet you, I’m Wanda. And these two are Billy and Tommy.” You took her hand in yours, suddenly overwhelmed with an influx of thoughts that didn’t seem to be yours. Suddenly you were giving Wanda the most sparkling smile you could manage, not entirely sure why your mouth had formed such a smile for a complete stranger.
“Pleasure to meet you all.” Were the only words you could manage, still riddled with confusion as to what was going on.
Wanda returned your smile, Billy and Tommy seemed almost enamoured by you as they both stared at the new arrival. Glancing at her boys, Wanda knew she’d have to keep a very close eye on you, you were a mutant and stronger than even you knew, hard to control. But she had let you through her barricade as soon as she realised who you were and why you came.
“What’s your name?” Billy had asked and Wanda grew nervous as she noticed your eyes lose their smile for a second as you blanked on the simple question.
What was your name? It took you a moment or two before you regained your composure and extended your arm to the little boy in front of you who shook it excitedly, “Y/n. My name is Y/n, it’s really nice to meet you two.”
“Say, would you like to come and have dinner with us?” Wanda offered and you nodded your head gratefully.
“Dinner would be lovely. I’m feeling quite airy today, a good feed might help.” You told her with a laugh.
You walked to what you assumed to be Wanda’s residence, Billy and Tommy spoke excitedly to you as you walked, the pair of them strolled on either side of you fighting for your attention and entertaining you as they constantly tried to one up each other.
“You’re so cool! I can’t wait for uncle piet to meet you!” Tommy commented, prompting a soft smile from Wanda and an agreeing nod from Billy.
With a laugh you ruffled the boys’ hair, “Uncle Piet, huh? I bet I’m way cooler than that guy.”
“Don’t let him hear you say that.” Wanda laughed, her hold on you lessening as you began to relax on your own accord.
It only took a few more minutes until the four of you arrived at their house. As you entered you took a second to take in the interior, the 80s theme not as glaringly out of place to you as it had been earlier.
“Vis! Pietro! I’m home and I’ve brought a guest!” Wanda’s sweet voice sounded from the kitchen.
“Uncle Piet hurry up! Come meet our new friend!”
“Come on! Come on! Hurry up!”
Billy and Tommy yelled up the stairs impatiently and you smiled fondly at the boys, crossing your arms over your chest as you anticipated meeting ‘the funnest guy in the whole world’.
“M’coming! Jeez.” The deep voice made you freeze. For the first time since you arrived in WestView you could finally say you recognised something.
The thumping of feet running down the stairs had your heart beating out of your chest and when you finally came face to face with the man the twins had praised so highly you thought your ribs were at risk of breaking from how rapidly it was pumping.
The man looked at the twins, expectantly, “Alright. Where’s the one making you two so excited?” He hadn’t noticed you yet.
With a shaky breath, it bagan coming back to you, he was the someone you were looking for. He wasn’t just someone special, he was your love. And there he stood, silver hair unkempt as usual and his signature grin painted his lips.
“She’s-“ Billy started but Peter cut him off.
“She? You guys get yourself a lil girlfriend? Huh?” He wiggled his eyebrows and you couldn’t help the breathless laugh that left you. He was still your Peter. Funny, lighthearted, great with children and not completely thoughtless behind his gorgeous doe eyes like the rest of the town’s residents.
The airy laugh caused a shiver to run up his spine. No, you couldn’t be here. Not you. But he knew without even turning his head that it was you, his girl, the love of his life. The loyalist person he’d ever had the privilege of being able to love. Of course you’d follow him to a whole different reality.
He whipped his head in your direction, his mouth falling open as his eyes landed on your form, your eyes shining the way they always did when you’d see him after a long mission.
“Peter?” The boy felt his heart crack as your expression dissolved into something between confusion and panic. He quickly zoomed over to you and pulled you into him, pressing your head into the crook of his neck to hide your expression from Wanda who had yet to return from the kitchen.
His lips hovered close to your ear, “Pietro, you have to call me Pietro. I’ll explain everything, I promise just act natural for me, alright?” He murmured, moving his hand comfortingly up and down your back, aware that the twins were watching Peter pulled away but wrapped an arm around your shoulder and you forced yourself to smile as the pair of you faced the boys.
“How’d you guys manage to find my girlfriend in this dump?” He asked jokingly, smirking proudly as their faces dropped.
Billy glared and raised his little eyebrow at his uncle, “Your girlfriend?”
“You were right, you two. He definitely is the funnest person but I still win in the cool department.” You said, laughing nervously and hoped you weren’t being too conspicuous.
“Oh come on,” Peter groaned, “I haven’t seen you in forever and you’re already making fun of me in front of my nephews? That’s cold.” He pressed his lips to your temple, keeping them there for a few seconds, they were firm and sure and they let you know that he was really with you, you’d found him and he was real.
When Wanda re entered the room you felt your shock ebb as if it were being drowned beneath the surface before you could calm it naturally. You allowed your body to melt into Peter, your unintentional, sitcom worthy smile making his way across your lips again.
“Oh good, so you two have met then?” Wanda grinned, knowingly. Peter gave her a grin of his own.
“We’ve done more than meet.” He told her suggestively and you poked his ribs gently.
“You should’ve told me you were a Maximoff,” You giggled out as Peter littered your face with kisses while the twins gagged, the silver haired man pulled away from you for only a second to stick his tongue out at his nephews before he returned his attention to you as you chastised Wanda softly, “I would’ve been able to prepare myself to see this loser.”
Peter scoffed and gently pushed you away before speeding to catch up with your body. He wrapped his arms around your torso from behind and rested his chin on your shoulder, “She loves me really.”
Peter knew exactly what Wanda was after; a perfect family. He understood that’s what she wanted but he didn’t know how far she would go to achieve that goal. He had to make sure you played along, he couldn’t lose track of you again.
Your next words caused a stir in the hearts of both the siblings, your head was turned and your gaze was locked on Peter’s face, eyes free of any outside emotion as you broke out of Wanda’s hold and what Wanda read off your face wasn’t fear nor confusion, it was nothing but pure adoration for her brother.
“I do. I really do.” You told him, eyes becoming glassy before Wanda managed to regain control of your mind. You cleared your throat and gave Peter an airy smile, gently placing your lips against the curve of his jaw and he bit the inside of his cheek as he held you, allowing the conversation to flow easily and trying his best to support you as you unknowingly exhausted yourself fighting against his sister's hold.
He had a feeling you hadn’t remembered your mutation yet. You were one of the most powerful mutants Xaviers School had ever seen, your powers similar to Jean and Charles himself. Telekinesis was a tricky game, especially when you weren’t aware of it.
He remembered when he’d met you, you were with Charles and Hank, in his basement and asking for his help. He smiled to himself when he thought of how you’d been just as confused as him at the time.
You had no control over your telekinesis back then, similarly to now as you sat playing a board game with the twins, lights would flicker when you laughed and the very ground you walked on would shake if you got angry enough.
“Her mutation, it’s strong.” Wanda commented breezily as if it were nothing, floating through the kitchen going about her business as Peter’s eyes never left your form.
With a sigh he murmured, “She’s powerful, Wands. Trust me when I tell you that this whole thing could come crashing down if you don’t let her access her mutation.”
Wanda paused, her jaw clenched. With a flick of her wrist the panel that was allowing Peter to gaze at you from his place in the kitchen shut in his face. He turned to face Wanda then, an incredulous look on his face.
“What do you mean.” Peter only let out a tired laugh.
He shook his head, “Why did you let her in in the first place? You could’ve kept her out if you didn’t want her here.”
“She came for you, Pietro. You were the only thing on her mind. I didn’t realise she had power until I’d let her in.” She seethed, glaring at Peter.
“Maybe this was a mistake…” Wanda began, clenching and unclenching her hands as she considered her next actions. Noticing her uncertainty, Peter stood up and approached her as she spoke, “I should send her back.”
Panic flooded the speedster and before his sister could so much as move a finger he grabbed both of her hands in his, “No!” He shouted, desperately.
“Please don’t. I’ll look after her, just… just don’t take her away from me. Not again.” He begged, shaking his head frantically and Wanda knew in that moment that sending you away would create more problems than it would solve.
With a steady nod Wanda squeezed her brother’s hands, “She’ll stay here. But she’s your responsibility now. If she becomes a problem she’ll have to go.” His sister explained causing Peter to once again nod his head frantically.
“There’s an empty house next door. It’s yours, take her home, she’s tired I can tell.” Peter left the kitchen without another word, a smile on his face as if the conversation with Wanda hadn’t shook him to his core.
When he entered the living room he watched fondly as Billy tried to impress you and Tommy sat contently beside you. Wanda had released you from her influence and you were simply fighting sleep while simultaneously keeping the twins occupied. Even without your mutation, Peter knew you were a superhero.
“Alright, nerds. Stop bugging my girl.” Peter walked casually to the couch and pulled you up gently, kissing your temple like he had done earlier, “Let’s go home, sweetheart.”
When he pulled away you were looking at him, your expression somewhat defeated, “Home?” That’s right, he reminded himself, you didn’t know where home was.
He nodded gently, interlocking your fingers with his and led you to the front door.
“Bye boys!” He called over his shoulder, not bothering with a proper goodbye tonight.
True to her word, the house next door was vacant and ready for the couple to move into. As soon as the front door was shut Peter attached his lips to yours, feverishly moving his hands to your cheeks as you melted against him.
“I’ve been looking for you for so long.” You croaked, pulling away, select memories had began to return upon meeting his lips.
Completely overwhelmed you nuzzled your cheeks into his palms when tears began to leak from your eyes. Peter pulled you closer, bringing his forehead to rest against yours, “I know, baby. But I’m right here, I’ve got you.”
His words had only served to push you further towards the edge and you gripped his wrists to keep his hands in place, using him as an anchor. He shushed you gently once the picture frames nailed to the wall began to clatter against the plaster while you struggled to even out your breathing.
“I couldn’t think, Pete. I couldn’t- I couldn’t keep her out. There’s something so wrong here, we need to get out- we have to get out.” You rambled, tears streaming down your face now as the panic Wanda had pushed away from you earlier now manifested into a full blown panic attack.
“Hey, hey, hey, Y/n, look at me, okay? Neither of us are under her control right now, you’re safe, you’re with me and I’m not going to let her so much as flick her wrist at you, do you understand me?” He spoke steadily and sternly, caressing your face so gently as if he was afraid you’d break.
After a second or two, the walls stopped shaking and you let Peter guide you to the stairs and into a double room. Carefully, he undressed you and redressed you into the shirt he’d been sleeping in, something in him just knowing being surrounded by his scent would calm you down.
Your hands snaked around his waist after he finished getting himself changed, with a content sigh you pressed your lips against his shoulder before pulling away to look into his eyes, “You’re sure you’re okay?”
Peter nodded his head, eyes softening at your concern, “M’better now.”
Before you could respond Peter had zoomed the pair of you into the floral double bed. He lay on his back, his silver hair sprawled against the pillow and his eyes looking at you contently. You gazed at him from your space against his chest, your body completely flush to his, the arm he had wrapped around your waist making you feel safe.
He hummed in approval as your finger lazily traced his jaw, he grinned dorkily, he watched your eyes fluttering open and shut as you struggled to stay awake. Peter wrapped both arms around you tightly, pulling you up ever so slightly to let your face rest against the crook of his neck.
“I love you, Y/n.” He whispered when he felt your fingers toying with his hair gently.
You hummed, pecking the skin of his neck, “I love you, Peter. Or should I say Pietro?” He couldn’t stop his chuckle when he felt your lips form into a smirk as you continued to peck lightly at his neck.
Peter shook his head, his hands moving up and down your back, slowly and softly as he told you, “Nah, I just wanna be Peter with you. You’re the only person in this wacko town who knows who I am.”
“We’ll get out… and then we can go back to being whoever we were before we ended up here.” You spoke sleepily, but honestly, he knew you believed what you were saying.
He wanted to ask why you’d put yourself in this situation but he knew why. And he knew he’d follow you into anything like this too.
Maybe he shouldn’t have been proud of the love the pair of you shared, considering it had landed you in a borderline tyrannical suburbia. But even a barrier that wiped memories, a witch who could bend time, space and the very reality around her couldn’t keep the two of you apart.
Neither of you knew what would happen in the future but that didn’t matter so long as you had each other. As your breath evened out against his neck Peter promised himself that he’d find a way to get you both out, get everyone out.
