The Distant Anniversary

The anniversary day of the Sol-3 Incident came and went, with some observing the celebration and others not. Enough time had passed that the pain was no more, nor even remembered. Those that were alive on the day were no more, their children who were told the stories of their home planet saw that history as just that, a story and history. Steven just shrugged and moved on with his life, there was no need to observe a day that neither he nor his grandparents were even alive for thanks to how far back it was.

Steven had spent the day blissfully unaware with his ward, they'd played hide and seek and wandered the gardens enjoying an unusually balmy autumn day. They wouldn't be able to do that on this day however, as autumn was truly in effect and a cold wind battered the modest mansion in which the human was respectfully employed.

The history of yesterday played on Steven's mind, however. He wasn't ignorant to human and ssypno history; they were so interweaved that there were entire degrees just trying to document those first few weeks and months and the resulting fallout of such a cultural upheaval. Not to mention the sordid history of the uncountable humans who had been inside ssypno territories before humanity had been 'discovered'.

'Nobles' in ssypno culture used to have a far greater and a certainly corrupted reach when compared to the current day. The 'Leashing' ssypno called it when the nobles were originally brought down several pegs before humanity was the first step. Their monarch had not been gentle in the first instance, and she certainly wasn't any more delicate in the years that followed. All The Queen had been waiting for was for the general public opinion on humans and their right to freedom to align with her majesty's goals, then came the bloody 'realignment' of the nobles.

Steven shook his head as he reached his ward's room. It didn't matter now; the turmoil of those days was over and for the most part only positive things came from it. A middle class, a dying noble class, the monarchy seemingly taking a step back now that the ssypno people were not being exploited and of course; humanity being treated as equals.

"Morning Noodle!" The man stage whispered into the darkened room, something stirred within.

At this voice the blinds started to change from opaque to translucent, before gently transitioning too completely transparent. The man was assaulted by an anaconda sized serpent child that immediately climbed his legs, wrapped its tail around his waist and four arms hugged him tightly. The child's head and hood rested against the side of the man's neck. He staggered back somewhat but was expecting this. The child was barely out of infancy and yet was already nearly as big as he was.

Steven wrapped his own two arms around the boy and returned the loving hug.

"Well! You're in a good mood today!" The human exclaimed, recalling that when he had put the child down to bed, they had been quite adamant they weren't tired.

Humans were preferred nannies by ssypnos. This mostly thanks to a human's biology. Higher body temperature and a lack of fur meant that humans transferred heat to scales far more efficiently than even a specifically designed heating mat. Humanity was perfect for keeping a ssypno child comfortable and, thanks to all that lovely heat, the child actively didn't want to disengage from the human in question. A child that is hardwired to seek out a nanny was something that countless races had wished for, for millennia. Human nannies were one of the most well-paid employees within the ssypno hegemony.

The literally cold-blooded serpents really only needed two things to grow big and strong. Heat and food. If a ssypno had these throughout their lives in ready supply, there technically was no upper limit to how big they could get or how old they could become. Her Majesty was evidence of that; she spent her days submerged at the palace now, her size making it difficult for her to move about her world. A noble home that wanted their child to grow, would obviously seek out a human precisely so their child could have the best start as a ssypno's size was, culturally, directly tied, to their 'success'. No different from human's flaunting expensive toys, a ssypno would flaunt their size.

So, humans always had a job in ssypno territory these days and Steven happily stepped up to the task.

A far cry from the human smuggling or slavery days, Steven chuckled wryly to himself as he walked from the child's room with the young boy tightly coiled around the man thanks to the chill that permeated the expansive home despite the modern insulation.

"Shall we watch a film today?" He asked the child who simply nodded against the man still pushing the top of his skull and hood up against the human's chin.

With humans being so highly sought after, they enjoyed a fantastic popularity amongst ssypno-kind. Steven considered that it was almost a celebrity level status. No, not almost; he was a celebrity wherever he went these days.

Another side effect, was that humanity as a whole, was the first independent state, that was not only allies with the Ssypno Hegemony, but who's territory was within the Hegemony's sphere of influence as well without being consumed. The Ssypno Hegemony had a whole history of aggressive expansion and absorption of their neighbours and yet, centuries after Sol-3's destruction and humanity's scattering, 'The Human Territories' appeared on maps across the stars as a single system reserved for humans by the ruling monarch all those decades ago. She dedicated to a human she apparently knew who had died of old age at her side.

Some called it a 'reserve' or a 'zoo' and avoided it, others thanked the ssypno monarch and enjoyed the protection offered by the fleets that just so happened to pop up in the adjacent systems. Nobody with ill intentions went after that system and it was just enough, to prevent humanity from dying out, even if we still toed the line all these years later.

Still, as the human and the young ssypno sat and laughed at 'Iggy and the Community Bunch', a cartoon about a human getting into mischief with the long-suffering Guardians running after them, Steven had to admit, whatever the suffering of the past; he was glad they'd made it to this moment at least.

What are the dynamics between Luigi and each of the Koopalings?

Luigi acts as their nanny/guardian so overall he is pretty close to them and they view him as a second parent (although he doesn't realize this). He is going to be very insecure in his relationship with the koopalings, because he was trained in many things and parenting was not one of them.

The breakdown for each koopaling will be below the Keep Reading as it gets a bit long.

Ludwig: He and Luigi used to be very close when Ludwig was younger. Luigi is the main reason he looks towards negotiating with his enemies before fighting. During the comic however, their relationship is going to be very strained. Ludwig is frustrated that Luigi keeps treating him as a child when he wants to get more involved in fighting and running the kingdom. Due to how Luigi grew up he refuses to let any child (or teen) get involved in bigger issues, he wants them to enjoy their childhood and not feel like they have to solve problems adults have created. This obviously creates quite a bit of arguments between the two, with neither willing to budge.

Morton: Also affectionately known as "Little Guy" by Luigi. These two have the most simplistic relationship. Luigi feels a lot of kinship with Morton as he's also a very emotional and sensitive person. Luigi is one of the few who knows that Morton can be quite cunning, but he worries that people will use his big heart against him. Due to this he unintentionally spoils/babies Morton the most. Morton also likes to help Luigi with his gardening.

Roy and Wendy: I'm including these two together, because from what I recall these two were typically conspiring together (especially in Inside Story). These three are thick as thieves, and often times these two will assist Luigi in some of his ploys. Luigi will often confide in these two if things are going wrong, and they need to prepare as he knows they will keep a level head.

For Roy, Luigi will often have to remind Roy that his younger siblings (especially Junior) aren't trying to annoy him on purpose. They're just young, and to appreciate the time he has with them as they could be gone sooner than expected. The two do butt heads on how to respond to situations as Roy just wants to brute force his way while Luigi wants to find a route of least resistance whether this is through negotiating or stealth.

For Wendy, they both share a love/appreciation for fashion and the dramatics. When Luigi is traveling he will often collect jewels to give to Wendy (of course he will get other gifts for the koopalings if he sees anything he thinks they will like). Wendy is the one he asks to watch over the rest of the koopalings when he knows both he and Bowser are going to be out of the picture for a while.

Iggy: Luigi will never understand Iggy's humor, but he does understand Iggy's machines. Luigi is very impressed by his inventions and planning. Although they both share this interest, Luigi struggles to connect with Iggy overall as he often doesn't understand what he is saying or his jokes, but Luigi will always support him unconditionally and tries his best to do just that. Oftentimes Iggy will join Luigi when he is visiting E. Gadd. Originally, Luigi was hesitant about letting Iggy join in his visits as E. Gadd can sometimes be more focused on testing his inventions than the safety of said testers. But once he realized Iggy would sneak along no matter what he figured better supervised than unsupervised.

Larry: Larry really likes to play against Luigi in different sports and competitions and it is very much a struggle for Luigi. Larry doesn't know just how competitive Luigi can get when playing games. Luigi really has to focus on trying to just have fun and relax instead of solely trying to win. They also enjoy cooking together, although a majority of the time it is just Larry burning down the kitchen while Luigi frantically tries to put out the flames. He is very much a troublemaker, but he is Luigi's trouble maker so he can get away with quite a bit.

Lemmy: Lemmy regularly gives Luigi heart attacks with his magic stunts. He is probably the most mischievous out of the group and enjoys playing pranks on Luigi. Luigi enjoys going to Lemmy's circus shows although when a volunteer is needed he will often suggest someone else take the place of the magician's assistant. There have been many times when Bowser, Kamek, or Kammy suddenly finds themselves signed up for Lemmy's circus act instead of Luigi. He loves watching the shows, but not participating as his heart can only take so much.

Junior: Junior is the other koopaling whose relationship with Luigi will also become quite strained during the comic. The other koopalings know Luigi is just their guardian and that one day he won't be there and as much as they don't like it they're old enough to know that is just how it is. Junior on the other hand very much sees Luigi as his second parent and doesn't understand why he can't stay with them. It causes a lot of friction between the two as Luigi knows that he owes it to his family in Brooklyn to go back, but Junior doesn't understand why he can't leave them in the past. In this, Junior is going to be against Bowser's plan to marry Peach as it means if she becomes his mom, then in his eyes Luigi will finally be able to leave them and that is the last thing he wants. In contrast, Luigi wants Junior to have a different parent other than him, not because he doesn't like Junior, or any of the koopalings, he is just worried that he isn't the best for them and he wants to ensure that they get the best even if that means he isn't in the picture.

The Ship of the Day: Damie

Original Content: The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)

Ship Info: The Haunting of Bly Manor is a show set in rural England where Dani (an American) goes to work as a nanny for two children – Flora and Miles. The children’s parents died and since then they have been in the custody of their uncle who works away from their home and leaves them in the care of the cook Owen, the housekeeper Hannah and the gardener Jamie. With their previous nanny Rebecca having been found dead, they needed a new nanny – enter Dani.

Dani and Jamie meet at Bly Manor and start out a tentative relationship, with Dani still having trauma from the death of her ex-fiancé just moments after she called off their engagement. Dani sometimes sees his face and feels like he is haunting her and doesn’t want to taint her new relationship with this. Dani and Jamie have many cute moments together from Jamie calling Dani “Poppins” – after Mary Poppins – and calming her down from a panic attack to Jamie opening up about her childhood to Dani and shower her some of her favourite flowers.

Their relationship starts to blossom throughout the series and as soon as it starts to ger going seriously, as this is still is show about ghosts, it is interfered with by Dani nearly getting killed by a ghost and ultimately having to let the soul of the lady of the lake enter into her in order to save Flora’s life. Whilst in many shows that have sapphic characters this may have been the point in which Dani dies (typical bury the gays and lesbian’s trope), however Bly Manor does not do this. At least not right away.

Following the last traumatic events at Bly Manor everyone moves away. The children’s uncle decides to take a more active part in their lives, Owen opens up a restaurant and Dani and Jamie move to America and open a flower shop. The following years of Dani and Jamie’s life are spent together happily, they move in together and cook for each other, and Dani proposes to Jamie. Although at this point in time (Bly Manor was set in 80s-90s) it was not legal for two women to marry so they enter into a civil union. At some point during these 10 years after the events at Bly, the lady of the lake (Viola) starts to make her presences more known within Dani. This starts to scare Dani as she does not want to do anything to harm Jamie and so she makes the decision to go back to Bly and walks into the middle of the lake and dies.

We see Jamie wake up to Dani gone and realise that she has gone back to Bly. Jamie follows her but by the time she has gotten to the lake it is too late, Dani is already dead at the bottom of the lake. Jamie screams and tries to get to Dani but it is of no use, she’s already gone. The show ends with Dani having broken Viola’s curse, as now no one else at Bly Manor would ever be taken by the lady of the lake because she was different. “The lady in the lake was also Dani. And Dani wouldn’t. Dani would never.”. Even though Dani is dead, “dead doesn’t mean gone” and we see in the very last scene of the show - set many years later at Flora’s wedding – Dani’s arm on Jamie’s shoulder.

Type of ship: Canon Queer

The way the creators of this show chose to handle this relationship was beautiful. Even though it was set in the 80s/90s we do not see them experience any homophobia, we simply just see them living a life together. We get a montage of them being happy and settling down. We get to see them getting engaged and even though they’re not allowed to legally get married we still get to see them in a civil union instead of being completely disheartened. There are many period typical things the creators could have chosen to include in the show, however they didn’t they simply just let Dani and Jamie be happy.

Although, the show does ultimately end with Dani dying and this could be seen as yet another addition to the bury the gays trope I think the way in one done here makes me think about it differently. I understand how it can be very disheartening as a sapphic character that we have become attached too has been killed off and this has been done so many times before that it has somewhat become expected but also there’s a sense of hoping that it wouldn’t happen this time. However, the fact that Dani and Jamie got more than 10 years with each other after the events I think is a great way to look at this because creators could’ve chosen to kill her straight away, but they didn’t. The death of Dani also makes sense artistically as the person who becomes the lady of the lake is destined to die – it happened with Rebecca and she for all intents and purposes was straight and in a heterosexual relationship.

Therefore, I completely understand why people are still mad at the death of Dani as of course people are attached to this character and this relationship and it feels so unfair but I also feel that for some reasons her death also makes a certain amount of sense.

One day I woke up as the daughter of a villainess

[This is a fanfiction collaboration with @ship-ovnik]

[This fanfiction-announcement contains brief descriptions of heavy scenes for fans of Penelope and Judith. I warned you.]

"Is young miss awake?" a quiet voice above her asked.

Judith woke up instantly, sitting up abruptly. She looked dumbfounded at her nanny, whom she hadn't seen for almost ten years.

How did she end up here? Shouldn't she have been in jail awaiting her sentence?

"Melanie?" barely uttering the woman's name, she heard her own thin voice. Raising her hands to her face, Judith saw tiny palms like a five-year-old child.

"Yes, my lady?" the maid asked tensely, "Are you unwell?"

Judith jumped out of bed in horror and ran to the floor mirror. In front of her was not at all an adult girl with sharp facial lines and a beautiful figure, but a small child with plump cheeks.

Had she really gone back fourteen years?

The girl grabbed herself cheek and pinched. The pain was real, so she wasn't dreaming.

"I can't believe it… Just a few hours ago, I was waiting for the court's decision on my execution.. And now I'm here again!" - turning around on short legs, the baby ran to the exit, as she was stopped by the nanny.

"My lady, please! Take your time! Where are you in such a hurry?"

"I want to see Mom! Right now!"

"Do you want to see Lady Penelope?…" the woman turned pale. "Oh, maybe you want to take a walk in that garden? I think there are wonderful flowers there…

"Melanie, I want my mom! I want my mom! And not to the garden!"

"But my lady, you know that your mother has not wanted to see anyone for many years, why did you suddenly start talking about her?"

"W-what?.." Judith couldn't believe her own ears. Her mom is the most affectionate and loving person she has ever met. She never parted with her. Mom always took care for her, supporting her in everything, even when her heart was heavy.

Her mom would never leave her. But then why is it a completely different person now?

The events take place in the real world (without Siyeon). The original Penelope falls in love with Callisto and confessing her feelings to him, it turns out that it is mutual. The couple secretly meets and tries to spend as much time together as possible until the duke finds out about their affair. At first, the man is furious and categorically against their relationship, trying to prevent their meetings. He was even ready to put Penelope under house arrest, but after seeing how happy his daughter is with the Crown Prince and how she suffers and refuses to eat and drink if he forbids her to see him, the duke gives up and blesses their relationship.

At first everything was great, the Eckart family, like the royal family, was preparing for an engagement after Penelope's debut. But on the day of the celebration, the Marquis of Verdandy brings Yvonne home and a terrible poisoning scandal happens. Penelope did not lose hope of proving her innocence and believed that Callisto would support and help her, but to her horror, the groom accused her of poisoning Yvonne and sent her into custody until the circumstances were clarified. For Penelope, as well as the whole family, it was a shock how the man changed in behavior.

A few days after the arrest, when the girl was finally released without finding any evidence, Penelope came face to face with Callisto, whom she did not recognize at all. Even without any evidence, he accused her of all her sins and considered her a terrible woman.

She was well aware that the abrupt change in behavior was due to Yvonne. But the way he behaved and the terrible things he said when he broke off the engagement broke her heart.

The Duke, realizing the horror of what is happening, takes Penelope away, not knowing what to say. After all, he knew that this would happen, but he did not want to remember it, seeing the condition of his daughter. Soon, he finds out that Penelope is pregnant. Fearing that something might happen to her, he sends her to a distant residence of their possessions.

That's where Judith is born. Penelope doted on her and tried to protect and protect her from everything, giving all her love. But the older the daughter got, the more questions she had. The woman did not want to answer them, and avoided or did not say enough so as not to break her baby's heart.

But alas, when Judith celebrated her debut and started attending balls and other events, she began to learn about the world and who her father was. A terrible scandal broke out between her and her daughter, after which, Judith, not wanting to listen to her mother's lies anymore, leaves the residence and leaves for the capital. Due to all the worries and poor health, Penelope remains bedridden, unable to stop her daughter.

A few months later, she receives news that Judith is in custody and awaiting trial. The Duke tried his best to help and save his granddaughter, but everything was to no avail, because the charges were brought by the imperial family itself.

Without a doubt, it was the work of Yvonne. Or whoever was hiding behind that pretty face. She had no doubt guessed who Judith was and had probably arranged everything to make her unbearably hurt.

She couldn't protect her daughter. What a terrible mother she was if she let her child go into the mouth of the beast?..

Having lost herself in grief, Penelope dies. There is a rollback of time.

Expecting to wake up again to the 18-year-old lady of the Eckart family, Penelope, barely opening her eyes, realizes that she is not in the family estate, but in the country residence where Judith was born. The first thing she hears is her daughter's loud crying.

"If I love and cherish her to the point of unconsciousness again, she will try to protect me again and die at the hands of this monster…" - looking at the cradle from which the nurse gently lifted her daughter, Penelope understands that she needs to make a difficult choice to save Judith. "But if I am… I will not let her get attached and I will be a bad mother, she will never know about that pain and will not want to protect me, she will be safe if she lives in ignorance…"

The woman intuitively pressed the girl to herself, after which she called another maid and took the child away. After waiting for the footsteps to subside, Penelope burst into tears, realizing how unbearably painful it would be for her to watch her daughter from afar and not be able to hug her.

"Mistress, it's time to feed the young lady-"

"Take her away"

"W-what? But My Lady-"

"Are you deaf? I said take her away, I won't feed her."

Let Judith grow up away from her, not knowing all the pain. Let her be a happy child with a happy childhood, she will do everything so that she does not need anything. Let her think that her mother is an evil woman who does not deserve love.

"I so want to forget all this…" pressing her palms to her face, Penelope used ancient magic and erased all memories of Callisto and her family, feeling all the pain dissolve in her heart in an instant. Peace reigns in the soul. She no longer feels anything but absolute emptiness and cold inside herself.

All she needs to remember is Judith and her well-being.

Jei: This fanfiction is a mixture of two fanfics (more precisely, my impressions from reading two fanfics about the brainwashing of Callisto and the tragic fate of Judith by kuroneko1815) and a huge reference to another manhwa.

I seriously loved the one-shot! Especially because I woke up with the notification from ao3 and it made work pass quickly today ^^

(Also it distracted me from the drunken, yelling groups of men roaming the city today 🙃)

as for your questions, in my mind obi-wan is going to leave the order and no one is going to be particularly surprised. The Order has probably spent the last several months fielding questions from reporters about Jedi Knight Kenobi’s close relationship with Senator Skywalker, as well as making photos of rather intimate moments between them (just walking around the senate gardens but it’s heavy chemistry ok) disappear

he gets to live his best life as like nanny instructor for two babies who adore him:

Anakin doesn’t trust anyone more with his kids. He bullies obi-wan into teaching them how to use the Force and control themselves, and he also bullies Obi-Wan into teaching him the same thing

(Obi-Wan also makes a blanket for Leia. He’d thought they would just share the original blanket, but when he says this, Anakin laughs himself silly)

(Anakin also wants a blanket for himself. This takes much longer to complete.)

As for the reasons anakin wears the veil, it’s honestly completely and totally just plot reasons so the plot can happen. I guess an argument could be made for him feeling the need to keep his identity secret in case of attack, or because he likes the ceremony of it all, idk mostly just a character quirk for the sake of the paper-thin plot, like Padmé and her handmaidens when she’s queen

Bedtime Stories (Alternate)

A version of Bedtime Stories taking place in the canon universe (where Avery lives and works at the Agency as a scientist and everything is less sad). I hope this makes sense??

Note: The story Nate tells his daughter is based on a very well-known story from Persian literature about star-crossed lovers Farhad and Shirin and the origin of tulips, but he changes the details to make it a happy ending (and therefore nothing like the original story lol).

"But Farhad had never met anybody like the princess," Nate is saying softly as he watches his daughter's eyelids droop in near surrender to sleep. "She was brilliant and quick-witted, a strong and kind leader... And even his sculptures, admired all over the kingdom for their beauty, paled in comparison to the lovely Shirin. Before long, he was deeply in love with her."

Laleh yawns and snuggles into her stuffed rabbit toy. "She loved him too, right, Baba?"

"She did, Little Rabbit."

"Even though he wasn't a prince."

Nate smiles at her prompting, the story so familiar to her by now. "Even though he wasn't a prince," he continues, "she thought Farhad was gentle and kind and charming, the way a prince ought to be. So she was determined to marry him."

It's a race against the clock, trying to get Laleh to sleep before Avery gets home; but it's a race that Nate is happy to lose when he hears the familiar purr of the minivan (which, thank goodness, had taken the place of Avery's previous monstrosity shortly after Laleh was born) as it turns the corner.

His human daughter does not hear quite as much, but she picks up on the lull in his story and the widening smile on his lips, sits up straight in bed.

"Mommy?"

Nate smiles, nods.

One day, she will ask why he hears so much more, with a questioning look she learned from Avery; one day, he will tell her the truth. But for now, she is too excited by the arrival of her mother to ask. By the time the car has pulled into the driveway, the little girl is scrambling out of her bed to greet her at the front door, her stuffed rabbit dragged behind her.

"Not so fast, Laleh joon," he chides.

"Okay," she says, stopping at the front door to jump and look through the peephole.

(And, oh, is she already so tall? A part of him looks at the rambunctious six-year-old and sees his toddling baby girl pulling herself up to standing for the first time. He never let her fall when she was learning to walk—which, he admits, may be why she took so long to learn.)

"It's her!" exclaims Laleh.

He gently pulls Laleh away from the door just as the key turns in the lock, and the door swings open to reveal Avery, looking half-asleep herself. But her lips curve into a small smile as she looks between them, and Nate feels himself relax at having her safe at home.

Laleh escapes from his grasp to rush her mother for a hug, and Avery crouches to hug her tight.

"Were you good for Aggie?" Her nanny from the Agency. "And for Baba?"

"Yeah."

"Did you eat dinner?"

"Yeah."

"All of your vegetables?"

Laleh wrinkles her nose—another expression that she learned from Avery—but answers, "Mommy, I was very very good, you can trust me."

Avery hugs her tight, kisses her cheek, and says, "Of course I do." She reaches out to tuck a strand of dark hair behind her ear, smiles affectionately. "Isn't it past your bedtime, sugarplum?"

"No, Baba didn't finish the story yet. You almost missed the whole thing! 'Cause you were doing a spearmint."

Avery's brow creases in regret, and Nate knows she is reliving some painful memories with her own mother. "I'm so sorry, honey."

"It's okay," says the little girl with a shrug. "Baba can start over."

Avery's eyes flick up to meet Nate's, the regret replaced—or at least masked behind—a flicker of amusement. "Very generous of you to offer Baba's services."

She smiles prettily. "I know. Come on, let's go."

When the story is over—Farhad and Shirin tending to their garden of tulips together—Nate and Avery kiss their sleeping daughter goodnight and tiptoe into the hallway. The veneer of cheer on Avery's face fades, and Nate wraps her into a hug, presses her head into his chest.

"It's only one night, my love," he whispers.

"You said that last time."

"When I had my overnight mission—"

"That's different."

"How?"

She tilts her head back, the corners of her lips quirking upward. "Because you called every thirty minutes until Adam took your phone away and almost blew cover because you thought you heard Laleh cough?" In his defense, some of those calls were accidental; but he doesn't bring that up now. "While I got so caught up in work that I missed my baby's bedtime."

"A handful of times in six years." He smiles softly. "We're allowed to be people and have lives outside of parenthood, Avery. Tell me about your day."

"Do you think if you get me rambling about science that I'll feel better?"

He knows she will. "How was your spearmint?"

She grins. "It worked, Nate."

She left the police department nearly a decade ago; now, she works at the Agency as a scientist. One of the many questions guiding her research, and the one that most interests Nate, is the following: Is it possible to reverse the transformation of a human into a vampire?

Could he live a life without having to resist the temptation to taste his wife's blood? One in which he doesn't need to concentrate to enjoy a blueberry muffin? One in which he isn't all but guaranteed to outlive his wife and child?

"It's just on the cellular level," she adds, a little deflated, and he worries that just his hopeful expression has heaped far too much pressure on her shoulders. "And there's so much more to study before we can know it would work for a vampire, or the side effects, or anything we would need to know before it could be safe..."

He draws her into his arms, bends to press a kiss to her forehead. "I am so proud of you, Avery. Amazed by you, inspired by you..." He bends lower to press a kiss to her cheek. "It makes me so happy to see you happy, my heart."

"Then...I won't make it up to you?" she whispers, tugging lightly at the fabric of his sweater. When he leans down, she lifts onto tiptoes to press a kiss to his jaw, looks up at him with a wicked glint in her eye. "Make you very happy?"

It's automatic, his lips angling down to catch hers before they can get away, his hands drifting down to her waist as he walks them down the hall to their bedroom. "But how am I supposed to be any happier than I am at this moment?" he murmurs.

"Use your imagination," says Avery. "Tell me a story."

These were the absolute fastest redesigns of my LIFE after writing that long alien clothes meta. The old ones weren't THAT old but given tmmn's latest ep giving us a LOT more looks at alien fashion...I Went For It and just. gave the ladies more clothes. actively fighting the urge to redesign ALL of my alien ocs...

I renamed Chiffon to Shebakia given we now have a canon Chiffon haha... 😶 I think people would call her Sheb for short. She LOOKs like a Sheb (compliment.) I really didn't give THAT much info about them in the old post, so...you know what? More info about them under the cut. 👇

Two alien ladies, Shebakia and Eclaire! The art of them in their 20s was around 20 years (ish...?) before TM2 starts, so they'd be in their 40s while TM2 is happening.

Eclaire is a seamstress and has a somewhat abrasive, self-centered personality. She doesn't get along with a lot of people, and doesn't bother to try. Her quality of work speaks for itself, and she figures the only friend she REALLY needs is Shebakia.

Shebakia is her absolute best friend since they've known each other since they were children, and Eclaire feels possessive/protective towards her because Shebakia is a lot more quiet and gentle. (....There may or may not have been a one-sided love there. :))

Shebakia is soft-spoken, but not actually a total pushover. She works as a gardener and doesn't mind getting her hands dirty or doing 'rough' work. She just really enjoys being outside and working in nature! Her and Eclaire are opposites in that way, and Sheb finds it really funny that Eclaire keeps making her such nice clothes knowing she'll just end up getting them dirty. (Eclaire says she'll keep making clothes for Her Girl so she looks nice even if she's 'rolling around with the worms'. Sheb is about the only person Eclaire isn't outright rude to, but she does tease her lmao. Almost flirtily. Almost.)

...Shebakia ends up betrothed to someone else, and Eclaire, not being able to stand that but also not willing to outright confess her own feelings, inserts herself under the guise of being a live-in nanny/helper with the intention of sabotaging the relationship. (Of course, Sheba is thrilled because living with the two people she loves most sounds great, she'd love for her best friend to help raise her kid with her and her partner! Oh, yeah, Shebakia is pregnant now. Whoops. Much harder to sabotage a relationship with a kid underfoot...it COMPLICATES things, just a tad.)

...But Eclaire's help is very soon necessary because Shebakia gets really, really ill, something Eclaire decides the pregnancy made way worse/sped up because it took so much strain on an already ill Shebakia's body. Her health continues to decline, but she lives for roughly 7-8 years after before finally passing away, with Eclaire dedicating as MUCH time as possible to trying to care for her and going into depression over this herself.

Eclaire is devastated, but in the way that she's numb and doesn't want to live on this stupid world without Her Sheb. She knew it was coming. But that doesn't make it hurt less. She hangs around for maybe another 7 years, making some very poor choices trying to cope and feel normal before deciding, nope, she can't hang around here with Everything Making her Think Of The Girl She Was Never Technically With but In Love with, no one on this planet can fix anything, she's too stressed and wants none of the responsibility she has now. She needs a new start. So... she steals a small ship and decides to explore the stars.

Eclaire is now a space pirate. Eclaire now has a crew of various alien species. Eclaire has now successfully entirely missed the Uchushi invasion, and her people evacuating onto Queen's ship and heading to Earth.

Eclaire Does Not Know About Any Of That. Missed the plot entirely. But she DOES know about Earth, duh, all the aliens do. Their people originally came from there, all the mew business happened there.

...Maybe she'll pop back into the story for a quick visit.

Surely that'll be okay! Just a quick tourism pit stop!

(by the way, it's hard to tell bc her pose and her arm covering it but Eclaire's younger design's sash has gold stripe in the middle ><;; aaand she cut her hair short for ease of styling, but also..doesn't it resemble Shebakia's...? :") )

I went scrounging around my old deviantart and found the very very first draft of Eclaire (...maybe not actually the first? but the..one I could actually find amongst my messy dA account, lmao) from 2018!! still the same idea, just...impractical mesh spacesuit, for the sake of boob window...? and yowch at those boots 😭 originally orange-eyed tho. On with the fic!

"Francis," Aziraphale started, walking into the room with an e-pad in hand, "I think it's time a massive upgrade."

"Oh dear." Francis frowned, but that didn't stop him from knocking Crowley's knight off the chess board between them, much to the younger android's annoyance. "Are you sure?"

"I'm afraid so. I went over your schematics, your system checks, and you really need to get a few new parts because, frankly, even I can't work miracles on your bad knees."

"Course you can." Crowley said, moving another of his pieces. "You're an angel, it's your job."

Aziraphale smiled at that before sitting down on the couch next to Ashtoreth, who was in the middle of repairing a tear in one of Francis' shirts. "That's sweet of you, darling, but we need to get him new parts. The originals he has are damaged and the parts are..."

"No longer in production." Francis sighed. "Ah, I like my ol' knees, they've served me well all these years."

"Love, you had to have Crowley hoist you off the ground this morning." Ashtoreth stated, not looking up from her careful sewing.

Francis pouted. "Aye, true, true. Well, whatcha have in mind, Az?"

"I... found some things online that are in a similar category to what you'll need for your knees, and your wrist joints, if you'd like to take a look. Rather difficult to get, but I know the right shops." Of course Aziraphale did, he repaired out-of-date androids, robots, and cyborgs all the time.

Francis got himself up from the chair he was sitting at, but not before taking Crowley's king, and looked at the e-pad. Crowley got up as well, wanting to take a look.

He himself didn't need parts, but he was a curious duck, Aziraphale knew that from experience. "Alright, see, these are from a model about three generations younger than your own, Francis." The cyborg said. "They have better shock absorbing in them, and you can work for hours without needing a bit of oil to get them working again after being in the same position for too long."

"Could be helpful in the bedroom." Ashtoreth commented, a coy smirk on her lips that had Aziraphale coughing, Crowley snickering, and Francis' inner systems kicking up loud enough for them all to hear.

"D-dandelion, please...!" The gardener pleaded as Ash leaned over and looked at the screen.

"Oh, how lovely, they even have them in a bronze coating. Get those for him, dearie, I'll pay you back. And see if you can find a matching set for his wrists. Ah, and his neck joint could use a little tweaking, he had trouble moving his head sometimes."

Francis' fans were kicking into overdrive and he mumbled something about getting them drinks. Crowley burst into laughter about this, sitting down on the couch to take a look.

"Do I need any upgrades, angel? Or am I still good?" He asked.

"Your systems are all fine, you're still very new, according to your files. Francis is much older and very obsolete in terms of parts. But, uh, Ash, he's still in good condition, don't worry..!"

She scoffed. "Don't worry, I take good care of him, he just gets himself into little messes. We're not as young as we used to be." She glanced at the shirt in her hands. "Maybe we can do a little clothes shopping as well, he's wearing out his shirts and pants again."

This got Crowley's attention. "I can help! I've got the keenest eye! Unlike angel here." He tugged at the knitted sweater vest Aziraphale was wearing.

The blond pouted a little. "I think I dress just fine, dear boy."

"You're wearing striped socks with an argyle sweater."

"There's nothing wrong with that, they're the same colors. And besides, Francis often dresses like me as well."

"Which is why I'm gonna find him something fitting, yet still fashionable and..." Mismatched eyes looked Aziraphale up and down as he took the e-pad out of Aziraphale's hands. "Coordinated."

"Cheek!"

Crowley grinned and started to tap quickly at the screen. Ashtoreth giggled softly, leaning back. "You picked him, dearie."

"I know, I know." Aziraphale sighed, but looked at Crowley, smiling at him as he seemed to be going over choices to throw into the cart of whatever site he was on. "Do be a dear and purchase those parts for me, darling, with two day delivery, I've got the money."

"Already did it." Crowley commented, eyes on the screen. "Does Francis like bow ties?"

"I love 'em!" Francis called from the other room.

"Of course you do..." The younger android mumbled, still quickly tapping the screen. "Angel, I'm getting you some new things too."

"No, you don't have to-" Aziraphale started, but Ashtoreth reached across him, gently taking the e-pad from Crowley.

"I'll do it, since you're getting for Francis." She said, looking amused, just as Crowley did.

Aziraphale had a feeling if he tried to argue with either of the two redheads, it would be a losing battle. "Please keep within my usual style and colors."

"I'll see what I can do, but no promises." Ashtoreth teased and Crowley cackled, moving over to sit on the couch arm next to her to take a look at what she was picking out.

"Francis, I do believe we're outmatched here." Aziraphale called to the kitchen.

"Did ya only just now figure that out?" Francis replied back.

I tried to figure out an upgrade for Crowley, but he's still a very new model so he doesn't need anything (unless if he can find a way to fly), so I included him and Ash being little shits and doing upgrades of their own for their men (Aziraphale dresses like an librarian and Francis dresses like a grandpa, someone help them).

Anime-Manga Comparisons, episode 20.

We were on volume seven last episode, and now we’ve skipped ahead to nine for this one, and then we’ll be returning to volume eight for the next few episodes. The twins really do cause trouble, don’t they?

For starters, the twins’ story with their nanny actually already happened in the manga, it’s an extra episode at the end of volume seven, and it’s told as a story the twins are telling the rest of the club and guests. I’ll talk about it later, when it comes up in the anime storyline, but it’s important to note that it’s shown earlier in the manga, and that this is another example of the anime adding bits together that are technically originally unrelated. I can see why they put them together, though. The beginning of the manga episode even references the earlier episode.

Starting with the anime, we see the flashback to the mini twins and a little girl playing their guessing game, and I fail at the first hurdle by being unsure if this scene ever happens in the manga. I assume it doesn’t because I’ve skimmed through a few later volumes and can’t find it, so it’s probably an anime only scene. If it is in the manga, then I apologise wholeheartedly and also shift all of the blame to the wiki, which lies half finished like my cooking usually does. Anyway. The girl they make fun of with the love note looks the same in both, and she gets her poor little heart broken the same way, too. I personally think her hairstyle is adorable.

Right after this we get the study hall scene, and the anime adds to the twins closed-off-ness by having the scene literally tear away after every classmate comments on them until it’s just the two of them left. It’s a really great detail, I love when things like this are added! And then the manga shows a flashback to the previous volume, and the anime plays that flashback.

Going back to volume seven, we see the mini twins! In the anime it starts at the garden party, and the manga starts with them showing off a photo of them dressed in their little girl outfits while the guests fawn over how cute they were. It sets up their backstory of having more than one caretaker over their childhoods, because they were little shits, and Haruhi finding one photo of them both crying, and the twins tell her the story.

The interaction with their aunt actually goes on a little longer, and they screw with her before showing the frog. They tell her that the blue twin is Kaoru and the pink twin is Hikaru, and then immediately switch who’s who mid sentence, and then they pull out the frog. In the anime their nanny rushes to help the aunt after she faints, but in the manga she’s fine, just angry about the twins’ behaviour and how they never cry or smile, even when she came to visit because their parents were away on a business trip, and the nanny tells another guest that she loves children. The twins get bored and run away, having a laugh at the grown ups expenses, because it’s easy to tell who’s who.

In the next scene, the maid is at the safe with a stethoscope trying to break in when the twins simply appear near her like they’re gunning for roles in The Shining; in the manga they overhear her on the phone with someone and appear from a ceiling panel. I’m not sure which is scarier. She threatens them with a knife in both, but in the manga they tell her immediately that the safe isn’t full of money, but just their toys. Expensive toys, but still. She gets angry, but agrees to play with them for the week, until their parents come back, to receive the safe code. In the manga they simply want her to play with them in general, but the anime again demands she play the guessing game.

The coin bank they hide the safe code in looks exactly the same in both. Kudos to the animators! Unfortunately, most of this flashback/extra episode is scrapped. In the manga, we actually see the twins spend time with the nanny as she tells them a story about previous jobs she’s done as a thief, and they’re adorably impressed and promise her that they would never rat her out like a previous accomplice did. She also gives them terrible advice about only trusting yourself. Lady, they are five and also not thieves! They’re just jerks. On the same night they also talk about how they want her to stay with them, and she overhears that, and where they hid the code.

In the anime there’s a siren alerting them of the robbery and they wake up in the middle of the night to find her sneaking out of the house. She just admits she couldn’t be bothered to figure out who was who and dipped early, and leaves them with a last warning that nobody may ever tell them apart. The zoom out is really nice here.

In the manga they’re just watching as their aunt talks to the police about the robbery, and when she asks if they told her, they burst into tears and she apologises for doubting them, but of course, they reveal that they were faking the tears all along! The others are so stunned and disappointed that Tamaki scolds them and Kyoya sent the guests away halfway through the story because he had so little faith in them already. And that’s how that extra episode ends! The twins are forever a little bit twisted, and maybe a little traumatised.

Enter Tamaki Suoh, professional annoyance and serial courter of the weirdest guys he could find! He goes on a long rant about himself and then offers the twins to join his fruity little club. In the manga the other three (useless trio) are only name dropped, but in the anime we get to see them for a second as they’re called. Kyoya is in his classroom, and Mori and Honey are hanging out in the highschool by a window. There’s also a lot more symmetry in how the twins move and pose in the anime.

Manga Tamaki makes a guess immediately as to which is which, and might or might not have gotten it wrong, and then makes the promise that if he gets it right they have to join the club, but anime Tamaki lets them go for the time being.

The classroom scene plays out the same, except we see what Hikaru (?) is doodling in his notebook (fun patterns), and they both get a lot more offended by Tamaki accepting their invitation to a class event. Tamaki has a real habit of testing cool people’s patience. Speaking of cool people, Kyoya scene!

Actually, this scene plays out the same, except Kyoya gets an extra line about the twins being “some more of ‘our friends’.” His little quip back to Tamaki when asked if he’s listening also changes in all three versions, in the dub he says he hears Tamaki talking, in the sub he says he hears about half of it, and in the manga (well, my version at least), he says he’s not really listening.

There’s also a shot of Tamaki’s and Kyoya’s bags added in the anime, where Kyoya has his family name/logo printed in Japanese, but Tamaki’s surname is in English. Cute detail!

At the twins’ mansion, the anime adds a later manga line where Tamaki says Kaoru is a little pigeon-toed, and both twins get equally offended. Then he starts talking about incest. It’s way too early in the morning to be discussing incest, Tamaki. In the anime he’s offended by them driving off in the car, but in the manga he waves them off like a proud, if very weird, mother, and tells them not to skip classes. A talk that happens a page later in the manga happens first here where they laugh at Tamaki and his lordly ways, and I think the pacing is good in the anime, and it’s presented as an all in one day thing. We see them get bored of him, and then we get the reveal of Tamaki’s status. This is something we already know in the manga from volume six, but is brand new information here.

The anime gives us another flashback to the girl who is decidedly not Haruhi, and shots of a locked gate, and then the twins see another love letter girl from the window they sit at. In the manga they find a letter at one of their desks, and from the way their classmates look at them, it seems they know what they plan to do.

Interestingly, I thought they were playing each other in the second love letter scene, since at first Kaoru is holding the love letter and calls out to Hikaru, who approaches on Kaoru’s right, and then Tamaki announces that Hikaru is ripping up the letter, but then I watched the scene again and between scenes the right twin now has the letter, so I thought Tamaki was being smart, but was actually just… overhearing, I guess? It’s less obvious who is who in the manga, but I think it’s still Hikaru tearing up the letter. Either way, they both get that stunned look on their face because he’s correct in his guess, even though he’s not really allowed to guess.

The twins also show a lot more resentment at being stuck as a pair in the anime, or at least the left one does when he snaps. I think it’s Kaoru. Anyway, flashback girl guesses right and makes them both cry, and we get a flashforward to the carriage, which causes its own load of mental unwellness in us all, and I wonder why I’m crying. It’s probably the looming sadness of knowing it’s almost over.

Kaoru straight up blushes as Tamaki leaves, which is probably the only crumbs of TamaKao there is, and I cheer loudly for Haruhi while simultaneously booing the loser behind her in the scene.

The manga has Tamaki grab Hikaru and tickle him right in the middle of the courtyard, which Kaoru joins in, while Kyoya smiles at them from a window, and Haruhi wonders if she’ll fit in (anime) or get along all right (manga). Yeah, I think you will.

To paraphrase something I read on this Hellsite in a way that is totally this Hellsite- All the angelic lore that got shoved up my ass for something originally involving my Dominion War husband and then considered for a childhood blorbo might be pulled out by the Ineffable Husbands.

Or how I vote that Crowley is more likely Azazel than Raphael. And as of the time of this writing I still haven't seen anything for s2 that I didn't see on Tumblr.

Just know that I know enough about Raphael to know Crowley.

Nanny Ashtoreth is a form of Astarte/Ishtar/Inanna whose name is associated with Astaroth a duke of Hell often pictured clutching a serpent. We know that Crowley was the serpent in the garden of Eden.

Azazel while not the head of the fallen angels is pretty high up and basically blamed for bringing the ebils and naughty things to humanity.

And for clarity's sake Azrael the angel of death and a psychopomp is a different angel and definitely not Crowley just trust me on this.

Read the book of Enoch, no commentaries, no extra shit added, just the book its self. (y'all are so lucky to have more than a version padded out with evangelical bullshit because it was the only one you could find in a book store)

Avoid Uriel's achine and any book that links Enoch to stone henge. Avoid Ancient Aliens just because it wasn't done by White People doesn't mean it was aliens bullshit. Avoid anything written by psychics and people who renamed themselves. Avoid any misogynistic and homophobic translations. We don't have new modern international translated from the oldest sources known to mankind therefore closer to the original versions of Biblical texts for nothing.

On the other side of things I tried to art yesterday but the art wasn't having it. Made some GTFO decisions on things I don't need. Spent most of the day wanting to do something but not knowing what.

~6/3/2023~ Felt very foggy in the morning, also quite itchy, so MCAS is about - generally feeling overwhelmed every time I think about any of the ‘bigger stuff’. H came in the morning to help with the cleaning - it was bedsheet change day as well, which is always a good feeling. Once house stuff was done we stopped at the high street so I could post card for my nannie. Then we went on to a garden centre as the weather wasn’t the best for walking outside. We had a wander, then had some lunch - had to play it quite safe due to MCAS. I was dropped home. Had a bit of a break before joining a work related ND staff group. Originally I was down to attend this follow up workshop earlier in the day to do with the emotional toll of peer work, but I cancelled as wasn’t in the right headspace for it (ironically due in part to the emotional toll of my peer work!) and I thought I’d be better off following usual routine and good out with H. But glad I made it to the group as that felt manageable. Then headed out to appointment with AKA. so I usually only sleep with a sheet and a comforter, plus my little baby blanket sized flannel blanket, but that’s because my husband puts off enough heat to rival the sun. if it’s just me or super cold I also have a double layer fleece blanket I made as a teenager.

I am… better today than the last few days, lmao. I am tired and trying to Process Some Shit, both on the spectrum of “being an american” and w things about work and stuff. but I’m trying to do more hobbies to enrich life, trying to learn painting and trying to write a story again, so maybe that’ll help some. still desperately wish “witch that lives a mile out from the village, creates medicines and potions for the townsfolk, has a garden, is very intimidating but still known to be benevolent, and does not talk to people” was a viable career option in this day and age

All For Him

Young!Legolas x Thranduil x Wife!Reader

Summary: Lord Elrond comes to Mirkwood to ask a favor of his oldest friend, Thranduil. However, the stoic, unyielding king isn’t as willing to follow through on the request because of the danger it will put his family in.

Honestly, when you stumbled into your husband’s study that morning, you didn’t expect to feel so puzzled and flabbergasted. You didn’t anticipate Thran’s summons to be anything more than a request for information about Legolas (which you were happy to provide), a question regarding supper, or an idea for date night. So the last person you expected to see was Lord Elrond, the ruler of Rivendell, arguing with his trusted confidant and friend of many eons near the balcony.

“Thran, what’s going on? Is everything alright?” you queried as you stepped into the room, incisors biting into your lower lip.

“Queen (y/n), what a pleasant surprise,” Lord Elrond replied, consequently ending the argument, as he walked over to take your wrist and place a chaste, respectful kiss on the back of your hand. “My sincerest apologies for not seeking you out sooner.”

“That’s quite alright, Elrond. You know that. I too wish I had known you were here earlier, but I unfortunately got sidelined. We took a short walk in the gardens this morning, all three of us, when Legolas ended up tripping on a very small rock. Thranduil and I tried to utilize the open--and what we thought was a safe--space as a way for him to grow more comfortable walking without our help. That strategy worked well for us. Until today. None of us had seen the ant-sized pebble roll over his tiny heel, making him lose his balance and unknowingly place his hand on a grounded bee’s stinger to stabilize himself.”

“My goodness! How is he doing?”

“As well as can be expected. As he got himself up, he whimpered a little bit which isn’t normally like him. Even if he takes a tumble, he’ll usually still maintain his normal demeanor--sweet, timid, and smiley. But once we saw his palm start to swell up, we knew something was wrong. Thran rushed him to the healer, who was more than willing to keep an eye on him. Ever since then, he’s been given herbs to reduce the swelling and irritation at the site of the wound as well as water to keep him hydrated. Thank you for asking.”

Once you finished sharing that traumatizing experience, you looked over to your husband, whose face was devoid of color. Out of the two of you, he had been the most panicked over Legolas’ well-being. ‘Is he breathing?’ he’d asked. ‘What if he has a reaction to the toxins?’ he’d wondered. ‘What if we didn’t get him to the healer’s quarters in time?’ he’d said, voice cracking under all the emotions. Unfortunately, the man is an aggressive worrier who feels the most stress when he’s involved in a situation that’s completely out of his control. His son inadvertently getting stung by a bee? Yeah, definitely an event that drove your husband up a wall.

“He’s doing fine, Thran. He and I cuddled in his rocking chair for about twenty minutes before he fell asleep. Before that though, he did want me to tell you that he loves you,” I said, trying to soothe him as best as I could given the circumstances.

Even though Legolas is still quite young and not fluent in Sindarin yet, he does have a few sentences that he likes to use every now and again. His favorite though is ‘gi melin’, the Sindarian version of ‘I love you’. Anytime he’s reunited with you or Thran, he’ll smile so wide (with his one tooth showing itself off) and almost shout the words out (as if you won’t hear him clearly without that extra pizzaz). Both you and your husband agree that it’s probably the sweetest thing your little leaf has ever done (and Legolas is the epitome of sweet).

“I love him too. More than life. Which is why I cannot allow Sauron’s ring and its company to enter Mirkwood. I am sorry, Elrond, but my answer is final. You will not be able to change my mind on the subject,” your husband said.

“Sauron’s ring? So young Frodo is alive then, is he not? I heard about your daughter saving him from the hands of the Nazgûl but wasn’t sure of its veracity,” you mentioned.

“Yes. He is recovered and wishes to continue on the quest to destroy the ring at Mount Doom. However, we are trying to avoid the company’s traveling in the open at night and are looking for places for them to seek refuge. I am trying to convince Thranduil to offer his kingdom, but it seems that that has been more difficult than I originally presumed. He fears for your safety and Legolas’ too much.”

Speaking of Legolas, a soft knock on the door soon presented you with the little leaf in the arms of his nanny, Elva.

“Legolas, darling, what are you doing up so early?” I asked, my lips perking up into a small grin.

“Ada, Nana!” he blubbered, pointing to us. “Gi melin, gi melin, gi melin.”

“I apologize, Your Majesties. As you can see, the prince woke up a bit early from his nap. All of the maids attempted to keep him occupied in his chambers, but it was no use. He only wanted to see his nostairi (parents),” Elva explained.

“That is quite alright, Elva. I have not seen enough of him today. Thank you for bringing him to us,” your husband responded, moving over as Legolas reached out for him, and, once in his arms, began snuggling into his chest. “Hello, iôn nîn. I hope you slept well.”

“How’s his hand, Thran?”

Your husband took your question as an opportunity to lightly pull Legolas’ right arm out from where it was hiding in front of his stomach. “It is still a tad swollen but not too severe.”

You let out a sigh of relief. “That’s good to hear.”

“Nana, gi melin,” your son whispered behind your husband’s robes.

“Oh, my sweet boy,” you responded, lightly running your fingers through his hair and down his back.

Watching the interaction ensue, Thranduil softly smiled down at the two loves of his life. The first one--his wife--who taught him the beauty behind exuding kindness, positivity, and light. The one who guided him back to the meaning of life. And the second one--his son--who embodies all the genuine goodness that his wife bestowed upon him in their early years together. He’ll never know how he got so lucky, but that unknown answer will never prevent him from being grateful.

“Ada, gi melin,” your son quietly hummed as he lifted himself up to kiss Thran’s cheek.

“Iôn nîn, gi melin as well. Very much.”

But then the unthinkable happened. Your little leaf turned his body away from Thranduil to look at Elrond. “Gi melin!” he shouted, a smile creeping up his face (with his lone tooth on display).

“Well, I cannot say I am not shocked,” the lord responded, just as confounded as the rest of the group. Although Legolas was a very empathetic elfling, the reality was that he only shared that sentence with two people: his parents. So his sharing that sentiment with another-- a person he doesn’t spend every day with, let alone see once a month--was very odd, yet exciting in its own way. In your mind, maybe this was a sign that he was feeling more comfortable around his parents’ trusted friends. Maybe he saw the camaraderie in the room and felt soothed by it. Maybe he was no longer experiencing such debilitating episodes of timidity.

“It appears he has taken a strong liking to you, Elrond,” you responded. “And now that you know the depth of his affections, are you truly going to permit an evil, dark presence permeating Mirkwood’s halls?”

He pondered that question in no time at all before saying, “No. I will not be the one to put this child at risk. Perhaps Frodo and his company can stay a few extra days at Rivendell. It really is not a problem.”

At that declaration, you and Thranduil humbly nodded (hiding your smiles as best you could because this was a serious matter after all). “Thank you, my friend. Your concern for our son is much appreciated and will never be forgotten.”

“I know you would have done the same for me had I been in your shoes. Legolas deserves to be safe and comforted in his own kingdom without his parents having to worry about whether the ring will wreak havoc and harm him in the process. Besides, I want to return to Mirkwood in a few months’ time and still be on his list of love.” And everyone, including Legolas, giggled at that.

Hello Simmers!

Hope you are well wherever you are in the world and that you are all having a fantastic Summer of Sims! We are excited to share today’s update with you. There is a lot of info, so make sure you have your tea/coffee/beverage of choice ready to read on. You all know I have my coffee ready for this!

As we continue to get ready to explore the countryside charm of Henford-on-Bagley and cannot absolutely wait to play with the adorable animals in Cottage Living, we also have updates and fixes that should improve and complement your Sims’ everyday life. We have something for everyone and we hope that you all enjoy them. Thank you for all your feedback and support.

What’s New?

Let’s start with some items that we shared in our last Sims 411! For this update, we partnered with two talented artists from the LGBTQ+ community, Ashley Lukashepsky, and Mohammed Iman Fayaz, and they have brought their inspiring and beautiful artwork into the game. We have also included the modernized version of the large afro hairstyle that we showed you. But more than tell you about it in text, let me actually attach a screenshot of everything put together:

I love everything about this scene, not only it shows you how the artwork looks in a real game setting, but the whole scene with the two Sims and their surroundings is quite magical. Also, look at that hair! The way the light highlights it, perfection! You may also notice the hair of the Sim on the right, which was also added with this update for everyone. I want to personally thank all Simmers for their feedback and recommendations, as we are continuously working on adding more diverse hairstyles and textures to not only packs, but also to our base game.

Now that we are talking about artwork, the last patch notes I forgot to add the artwork made by the wonderful Jupiter Stevens-Hill. I apologize for that, I totally blanked out. However, I’m happy to see that a lot of you are enjoying it and placing it in your Lots! That makes a very happy Russkii =)

To find Jupiter, Ashley, and Mohammed’s paintings in Build Mode, make sure you take a look at the Paintings and Posters sort and filter by Base Game items. These artists are amazing and we hope you enjoy their creations.

Now, without further ado, let’s get to some new features and improvements that are part of this update!

A little bit of Gallery

When you download a lot made with the bb.moveobjects cheat, the game now notifies you about this so you know to activate the cheat before placing the lot. Builders, this means you won't need to mention it in the lot’s description anymore!

A little for Sims

Trying to find the Sims in the current neighborhood? Select their portraits in the Relationship Panel.

"Focus the Camera" moves the camera to the Sim.

"Lock the Camera" moves the camera to the Sim and keeps following them.

Where did the Notebook go?

Found it! The Notebook has moved out of the Phone and into its own button for quicker access.

The "Center on Current Lot" button that used to be there has moved to the top right, adjacent to the Camera Controls.

Water Tool

You now can make natural, organic bodies of water! Just head into Build Mode, make a hole with the Terrain Manipulation tool, and fill it with water. It is that easy! The Terrain Manipulation and Paint Tools also have more brush sizes to enable finer detail.

In adding the Water Tool, we also took the chance to overhaul the related tools and object categories. Why not? Enjoy!

Pond Effects

All sorts of critters are available to complete the look of your pond ranging from ducks and swans to pesky mosquitoes. There is even an alligator!

New Pond Objects

Outdoor Water Décor now has an assortment of new Pond Objects to decorate the perfect pond. Some of these objects such as the Bog Log and Colorful Lily Pads have interactions on them in Live Mode to activate Turtle and Frog effects. The new Fishing Allowed Sign enables you to stock your pond with any fish your Sims have previously caught. Try it out!

New Water Styles

Go beyond the original crystal blue and dreamy magenta water. Additional options range from “Mossy Water” to “Pond Scum” to complete that au natural look.

The Shrubs category includes new plants to complement the water styles: "Green Fern", "Leaning Not-Grass Grass", "Not-Grass Grass Sans Inflorescence."

Gardening with Children

Children now can help out in the garden by planting, watering, and weeding. They build their Mental skill as they garden. The process of purchasing and planting seeds is streamlined as well to make gardening more enjoyable for everyone.

Group Cooking

Cooking no longer is a solo affair. Sims now can cook in groups of up to five Sims including children. Start cooking together by selecting a fridge, stove, or any empty countertop.

Zoomers Food Delivery Service

Are your Sims getting tired of the same old pizza delivery every night? Well, gone are the days of redundant pizza nights. Maybe you are in the mood for pasta primavera or even a fancy steak dinner. All this and more are available courtesy of Zoomer Food Delivery. Order delivery through the phone or the refrigerator and the food will arrive in a jif.

Calendar

The calendar, previously available only with Seasons, now is available with Base Game to see upcoming events such as birthdays, school and work schedules, festivals, and fairs. You even can use it to book events, so it’s time to get to party planning!

Bug Fixes

Consoles

In Snowy Escape, skiing, sledding, and snowboarding on Bunny Slopes now contribute to the Extreme Sports Enthusiast Aspiration.

Also in Snowy Escape, Sims with high enough Skiing and Snowboarding skills now can enjoy the more advanced slopes. Sims also use the Lift to go to the top of the slopes and not go “the hard way.”

Simmers can now rotate Sims downloaded from the Gallery in Create a Sim. Spin them ‘round, ‘round, Simmers ‘round, ‘round - like a record ‘round, ‘round, ‘round, ‘round.

The Sims 4

We made some improvements that should help our Simulation lag, particularly on the usage of some computer interactions like playing BlicBlock, along with fishing interactions, which should make the game perform a bit better. Note that this doesn’t entirely fix simulation lag but it should help and it is a step in a good direction.

Fixed an issue in which placing Mirrors directly opposite Doors would create a visual glitch in which walls and borders would disappear around them and well it was quite spooky to be honest, glad we solved that one!

Ever wish your food didn’t expire? I know I do, especially when it comes to traveling and coming back to see a fridge in pristine condition, that is a dream… but alas, it is not meant to be in life or in Sims. Fixed an issue in which traveling didn’t let food expire.

Sims stuck sleeping and couldn’t cancel that interaction? Not a product of a sci-fi film as I thought, but I can say that we have fixed this issue, well I hope.

You want to know how to not make my day, have my coffee brew endlessly but without giving me the coffee! Luckily the issue in-game about the Brew Coffee interaction being stuck has been fixed. Wasn’t it odd? Wait… Sleep and Brew Coffee were stuck in a mysterious loop? SUS.

If your Child Sims suddenly interrupted their computer sessions to draw on the activity table when Inspired, worry not, this should not happen after this update.

Fixed an issue that caused the “Items Removed” pop-up to appear when no items were removed from the game.

Fixed an issue in which setting Lots on Slipshod Mesquite would sometimes generate a crash of the game for some Simmers. The Lot couldn’t handle that much flavor.

Some blush and lipstick opacity sliders are back as they were greyed out.

Step-Parent/Child relationships are no longer missing in the Genealogy Panel. Similarly, other cases of broken families in the Genealogy Panel have been fixed as well. It is all about reconnecting or connecting with what is important.

Platforms will no longer raise in height automatically when creating new walls to intersect part of them.

We also fixed an issue in which if you placed platforms in basement levels and a staircase from the floor to the platforms, it would create this gap or hole in front of the stairs and Sims were not able to route correctly. You know, I have played many platformers in my lifetime, but do you imagine Sims trying to jump those gaps? I mean, I am called JumpFail for a reason… glad we fixed this one!

World view Lots that had some off-centered border have been adjusted.

Toddlers will no longer gain negative Sentiments against their parents randomly, especially the Festering Grudge Sentiment. I should not be laughing at this issue as I type it, I should not…<giggles>

We got word that the camera was malfunctioning and bouncing uncontrollably in some Lots across multiple Worlds. We fixed an issue that caused this, but let us know if there are new instances.

Sometimes Ghosts can be part of our Households if we choose to, however, it is really hard to live with Ghosts that constantly break things, it makes it a bit… unlivable. So our expert team of Simghostologists has communicated with these Ghosts in the non-physical realm and they have agreed to not break everything all the time.

Fixed an issue related to flooring glitches while placing the dance floor or crystal clear flooring.

Went through all the trouble in hiring a Nanny only to have your Toddler get sent to Daycare? More than a schedule conflict I imagine having the Nanny show up and there is no Toddler so what does the Nanny do in this case? Do they leave? Do they stay and wait? I must know… However, This should no longer be an issue.

Fixed an issue where using ‘{}’ (curly brackets) in renaming objects would make these invisible in lists or UI in general.

Fixed an issue in the Likes and Dislikes section in Create a Sim that had some categories displayed incorrectly (either cut off, or words broken apart in new lines incorrectly) for some languages.

There was a clipping issue with the eye preset ymAsian13_Eyes that occurred when Sims were in extreme emotion, like Angry, and blinked. We adjusted this preset so this should not occur.

Toddlers can be picky eaters, but Toddlers not eating any fish recipe? That is suspicious, so we had a chat with the little angels and we have found a way to help them enjoy the complex flavors of our fish recipes.

Our UI team has fixed an issue in which a scrollbar appeared in the Sentiment section in the Relationship Panel when there were no sentiments. The mysterious scrollbar was mysterious. Similarly, they have also fixed an issue in which if multiple Sims gained sentiments together their thought bubbles look quite not right with the incorrect colors, so now they should look proper.

The Likes and Dislikes icon in Create a Sim will no longer overlap its text. It looked weird, honestly.

Droids (if you own Journey to Batuu) and Drones (if you own Get Famous) clipping into all kinds of objects in Build Mode? We saw that too, so there should be a fix for that in this game update. I mean this went beyond just crashing into things…

The option “Join After School Activity” will no longer be available if Simmers don’t have Seasons or Get Famous packs installed.

Sims in deviant paths now can properly reach the Level 4 of the Criminal Career.

Now, this is one that made my day, Cowplants are now able to dance again when Sims play music in front of them. Dance Cowplant, Dance!

Fixed an issue in which relationship points gained by friendly introductions were more than usual if Simmers didn’t have Snowy Escape installed.

We adjusted the color swatches for the S. Cargeaux Counter Island so that when it gets dirty, the counter doesn’t completely change colors. Dirty Counter - who dis?

Fixed an issue where the Scared Emotion UI was displaying a broken pose for Toddlers. The pose was kinda more scary than what the Toddler had been scared of, so glad that is done.

Outfits worn while Purchased and Worn in Festivals/Kiosks/Stalls should no longer remove accessories that were in place for the Sim.

Error code 134:571e5862 that occurred to some Simmers should be fixed now.

We fixed a few hairstyles (yfHair_EP05WavyBob, yfHair_EP01PartedFlat, yfHair_EP05UnderCutDreads, yfHair_EP01ShortSwept, and yfHair_DreamyCrew) that when used with the recently added color options would create splotches in the eyes, change the color of teeth, and/or change the eyelashes color.

As always the Localization team and this author have fixed and improved text across all packs and updates.

Get to Work

Aliens can now enjoy their custom Blush options in Create a Sim. Lewks out of this world!

Retail employees will now appropriately change into their assigned outfits. Listen, I grew up wearing uniforms for school, I get it, sometimes they are not the prettiest… but you have to wear them if you have to go to that establishment. I know the pain too well… but my sense of style grew from that… I think.

We made a fix to some of the swatches from the Barely Better Digital Camera that were missing a description for the item, so now all the swatches will display the text in all its glory.

Get Together

Some of these Sims are not like the others, some of these Sims just don’t belong. Can you tell which are not like the others by the time I finish writing these notes?

Fixed an issue in which some of the rooftops in Winderburg were not displaying Snow (if you own Seasons) correctly.

Fixed an issue where Sims didn’t sometimes change into their Club outfits when a Club Gathering was being held.

City Living

The Scattered Panes window in Build Mode now displays appropriate shadows in all options.

Sims enrolled in the Social Media career will now gain influence at the end of their stream instead of every few Sim-minutes.

Two hairstyles (ymHair_EP03BunHighPins and ymHair_EP03BraidedFlateBun) have been updated to reflect the correct look when choosing the Neutral Black color option.

Your Sims want to shoot some Basketball Close Shots, but they are trying to eat first? Well, now your Sims can finish eating before trying those hoops. Nutrition is important!

Cats and Dogs

We fixed an issue in which whiskers were not being seen applied to Cats. A Cat without whiskers is like Peanut butter without Jelly… or something like that! Just wrong!

Robot Vacuums should all now return to their docks accordingly. I hope this issue was not a sign that they were becoming sentient.

Sims will no longer get a Moodlet referring to the death of their Pet when witnessing the death of another Sim. The loss of a Sim is heartbreaking, but also getting a Moodlet for the death of their Pet when the Pet has not died, that is cold Grimmy, very cold.

Speaking of Robot Vacuums becoming sentient a few lines above, we fixed an issue that made the game crash when Cats would sit on the Robot Vacuum. CatonRobot.exe is now working.

We fixed an issue in which some Simmers experienced a crash with their last played Household loading into Brindleton Bay.

Seasons

Sims were changing into their cold-weather gear… while not in cold weather? We had some conversations with Sims and even though they love their winter outfits, dressing up in full winter gear in the summer was probably not the wisest choice. So the issue in which Sims randomly would change into their winter outfits while not in winter is solved.

Egg Hunts are adorable and fun! But not being able to have the furniture reset after looking for Eggs in them, can be quite the rain on Sims’ parade. But this should no longer occur.

Island Living

Mermaids will no longer keep the “Dried Scales” Moodlet when they are hydrated. Mermaids’ skincare regimen pays off! Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!

Fixed an issue in which Lots that are placed in the sand looked quite odd displaying all edges of the Lot when it rained.

Sims that have the Collector Aspiration Trait are now able to catch Frogs in Sulani as part of their adventures exploring the island waterfall. Good Luck!

We fixed an issue in which some Simmers experienced game crashes when loading into certain lots in Mua Pe’lam. Happy Exploring!

Discover University

Sims having a hard time in Uni? No matter what they do they keep failing classes? Worry not, Sims will no longer fail classes when meeting all the criteria for course completion. Work hard, pass your classes hard!

Having Roommates can be hard. Have your Sims had Roommates complain constantly and leave even when their needs are met? Yeah, we made it so that Roommates don’t do this any longer.

Fixed an issue in which beds were counted incorrectly when placing an ad for Roommates. I mean, as much as Pets and even Toddlers can live with Roommates, the ad should be truthful to how many beds there are actually in the Lot, not count Toddlers and Pets as needing adult-sized beds.

We fixed Servo animations so that they don’t look like they are walking on one leg when hovering to their destination. Now they will hover properly.

We fixed an issue in which in some instances Professors could not go to work when a Professor NPC is added into that same Household.

Fixed an issue in which removing and adding back Household members as Roommates would create some… inappropriate moments, ahem.

Eco Lifestyle

Evergreen Harbor’s peace has been restored: roads and parts of neighborhoods no longer disappear or turn blue when businesses open in Port Promise while the Modern Development N.A.P is active.

yfBody_EP09DressShirt no longer has a weird texture in some of the footwear from various packs, especially platform shoes and chunky sneakers.

Had you moved to Cypress Terrace in Willow Creek and found you couldn’t really do anything there? We fixed the routing failures and interaction failures on the Mitey-Mitey Home - Insect Farm.

Snowy Escape

Mountain Climbing can be challenging, even for those experienced. But having indecisive moments before a climbing route like getting off and on your bike constantly seems that a lot of doubt is passing your mind… However, we did speak to these Sims that were experiencing this behavior and calmed their fears and doubts, so this should no longer be an issue.

The hairstyle yfHair_EP10BobBluntOmbre now covers all of the Sim’s ears.

For Simmers who own Seasons together with Snowy Escape, rain options no longer affect snow.

Sims no longer have the option to give a respectful or military introduction during activities such as Dancing or Bike Riding. I mean, I’m not sure about you, but I can’t dance and respectfully introduce myself at the same time. So many falls… so many falls.

We made some corrections to the Slippers that came with this pack and they should no longer display a greenish texture on Sims’ toes when selected in Create a Sim. Yikes.

Fixed an issue in which for some Simmers playing with the Yoshida Hall Household would generate a game crash when loading into Mt. Komorebi.

We took a look at our Ramen menu and have updated our cooking menu to label Miso and Egg Ramen as Vegetarian safe options. Buen Provecho!

Want to run a Restaurant in Yukimatsu but also want to enjoy the slopes? Now your Sims can enjoy the slopes and dine in style. However, this action is only directed, and will not be autonomous. In the same vein, Restaurant employees will not be tempted to leave work to enjoy the slopes.

Journey to Batuu

Batuu is an awesome destination for those who want to enjoy something fun and different, but if you bought a Droid from the Droid Depot and never saw it in your inventory, I know how frustrating it can be. Never fear, the Droids you were looking for will appear now in Inventories when purchased.

In Journey to Batuu, the First Order ID no longer disappears from inventory so Sims now can Access First Order Plans for the Top Notch Trickery Mission.

Fixed an issue with the Leveling the Playing Field Mission in which the Scoundrel Informant would not appear on the scene after Sims stole the Prototype Blaster and went to Oga’s Cantina to wait for the informant.

Dine Out

Eggs and Toast sound super basic and easy right? They will continue to be that way for our unassuming Chefs on the Chef Station since we fixed an issue that made them… challenging. Sims can also use the second burner for other recipes without fail or routing out.

StrangerVille

The Decorations and Kid's categories in Build Mode should no longer have a "New" highlight when there's nothing actually new.

Dream Home Decorator

Lighting can change the ambiance of a room, and your mood in a flash. Luckily we have fixed an issue that lighting was not even on sectional sofas to continue to set the right mood for our Sims.

Our stylists fixed the Sleep ‘N’ Study Styled Room to remove the P.R.I.M.A Computer from it as this is not an item that is accessible for everyone, pardon our dust.

Laundry Day

Fixed an issue where an animation clipped when Sims were loading their laundry machines. Because having your clothes go through you is awkward, are Sims made of fabric? I don’t think so.

Bust the Dust

Don’t need Simoleons, don’t need Fame. Don’t need dinner to have this date. It’s strong and it’s sudden and it’s cruel sometimes but it might just end your night… the power of Dust, that’s the power of Dust.

Our cleaning agents have determined that Sims won’t get romantic negative Moodlets related to filthy levels of dust in public places like parks.
