⛩🎎 During our tour through Japan we made a stop in the historical-idyllic city of Kurashiki (Japanese 倉敷市, -shi). The Edo-era merchant town is located in Okayama prefecture and the former Bitchū province of Honshu, the main island of Japan. Kurashiki means something like “village from warehouses”. There are still dozens of buildings (Kura) preserved, which represent a symbol of the city due to their typical facades. It’s worth a visit. Ok.. Now a very interesting story about this pic. The gentleman in the pic with us.. His name is Mukesh. We met him at ghogha ferry point where we decided to have lunch. There's only one dhaba, no one can miss it. He was very inquisitive about us, on seeing us in full gear, our bikes bearing TS number plate. We shared the same table and spoke about a lot of things about Gujarat. Later we learned, he was a squad member of Bhavnagar CID, crime branch. He finished his lunch, and about to leave, so i asked him if we could take a pic, as we were creating memories on our journey, making friends, meeting people. He gladly obliged. Just before he left, on his bike.. He said.. Dont pay for your lunch, ive paid it. We were shocked, why would someone do it for two unknown lads from a different state... We humbly turned down his request, but he insisted.. You are our guest in the state of Gujarat and its our duty to look after you. He also said as you are on your way back, i couldn't invite you to my home, this is a simple gesture from my end. He bid his goodbyes and left.. We both were speechless.. We sat in silence to digest the whole ordeal that happened. This is the true meaning of atithi devo bhava.. The love and care we all saw and felt in Gujarat, i guess no other state gave us.. Maybe im wrong, but we have seen it 1st hand. Such lovely and humble people.. Thats why we fell in love with Gujarat.
