It is MTMTE Tarn. I anoned on the forst by accident while typing.
So our opener to Rise of Tarn, which is the current draft title. Mostly because the entire Rise of the Monarch album by AmaLee is this story.
During the Dying of the Light Part 6: Do Not Go Gentle, when Megatron starts to activate the antimatter, Tarn tries to activate his own contingency that would teleport him and his crew back to the Peaceful Tyranny. Except antimatter and Trailcutter's forcefield interfere and they are ripped through the fragile multispace that has been manipulated so frequently in this planet and around Megatron's life specifically.
Tarn and the DJD do teleport, but it is to the scuttled remains of the Turbulent Democracy in the Shattered Glass world, which has become part of the Decepticons base. Tarn is found by Shockwave and mostly destroyed and due to his memory glitching and the last thing he heard being "Glitch" he looks up at Shockwave brightly colored and with a voice he recognizes as lively and emotional and calls him "T-Teacher" before cutting off.
Tarn wakes up to find he has been repaired by Shockwave and Soundwave who were talking in another room. He is still very weak and still being repaired and finds Soundwave strangely gentle and bright. Shockwave is so much like his Senator self but louder.
It becomes clear neither recognize him and that there is something off about them. Tarn knows enough to keep quiet and wait and the Waves gently break it to him that his team didn't make it.
They are both a little disturbed because Shockwave remembers a student he did have, a young Empurata named Glitch who died early during the round up lead by the Council before the Prime gutted them to claim his own power. It was a death that still haunts him.
Soundwave is concerned because Tarn feels dangerous and hurt and like a relentless chaos of pain and confusion. As he puts it "he doesn't even know how he will fall" and is slowly getting to know him. Soundwave just calls him out on his lies and Tarn stops hiding and is venomous and snapping and Soundwave takes it in stride. It reminds him painfully of Nickel and Kaon and his team Before.
Tarn is actually making progress under Soundwave's delicate care and Shockwave reminding him of who Glitch and Damus were.
He gets off his addictions and is sober for the first time in centuries and enjoying music. Shockwave gets very excited about his powers and the healing properties which Tarn has never considered. Soundwave and he do a lot of music therapy and cautiously he is introduced to the writing of this world's Decepticons, skirting around Megatron but reading other essays and arguments. He enjoys it.
It's a soft time and the calm before the storm.
Yessssssss
The multiverse and Megatron have such a history, not to mention just everything going down at the moment they're in, this makes some sense in universe
Cool as fuck that his counterpart is just... not there in sg. No sg Tarn in this scenario, glitch died as glitch.
Naturally the SG waves are so very confused and shaken up and afraid tbh of this situation, because I HC that BL Tarn just has this ☆aura☆ around him that makes your instincts s̷̠̿c̵̰͝r̴̺͒e̴͈̽ã̶̹m̸̪͒
Oh that's gonna hurt. That's gonna hurt so much, all that pain and reunion and hope just going to ho all to shit. The waves realized this version of Tarn is way so way so way so different than SG Glitch, and they're trying so hard to help him. They're making progress. He's doing relatively well.
And we're gonna rip that right away

The Bronx Zoo has just released Flaco's necropsy results.
He was not thriving, as the people championing the ideal of "freedom" claimed.
He was poisoned.
He was sick.
He was suffering.
"Freedom" would have eventually killed him. A building just happened to do it first.
"Postmortem testing has been completed for Flaco, the Eurasian eagle owl that was found down in the courtyard of a Manhattan building a little over a year after his enclosure at the Central Park Zoo was vandalized on February 2, 2023. Onlookers reported that Flaco had flown into a building on the Upper West Side of Manhattan on February 23, 2024, and acute trauma was found at necropsy.
Bronx Zoo veterinary pathologists determined that in addition to the traumatic injuries, Flaco had two significant underlying conditions. He had a severe pigeon herpesvirus from eating feral pigeons that had become part of his diet, and exposure to four different anticoagulant rodenticides that are commonly used for rat control in New York City. These factors would have been debilitating and ultimately fatal, even without a traumatic injury, and may have predisposed him to flying into or falling from the building.
The identified herpesvirus can be carried by healthy pigeons but may cause fatal disease in birds of prey including owls infected by eating pigeons. This virus has been previously found in New York City pigeons and owls. In Flaco’s case, the viral infection caused severe tissue damage and inflammation in many organs, including the spleen, liver, gastrointestinal tract, bone marrow, and brain.
No other contributing factors were identified through the extensive testing that was performed.
Flaco’s severe illness and death are ultimately attributed to a combination of factors—infectious disease, toxin exposures, and traumatic injuries—that underscore the hazards faced by wild birds, especially in an urban setting."
The naturalistic fallacy kills animals in horrible ways. The romanticism of what humans want to think of as a "free, wild, pure life" cannot be allowed supplant the reality of injury, sickness, and death. Releasing captive animals (or keeping them from being recaptured) because it's "better" for them to suffer untethered than live a healthy, safe, captive life is inhumane and horrific.
Flaco's life didn't have to end in pain, sickness, and suffering.
Flaco's death didn't have to be tragic.
But once the idea of "freedom" entered the chat, Flaco's fate was unavoidable.

man supernatural might be bad but also ill be damned if thats not the most american show ever. like theres movies and tv that've tried to be this american but 99% have failed. you watch a particularly good episode of supernatural and suddenly you feel the hours of highway winds against your skin and theres more asphalt road than livable terrain for miles and you eat the best meal of your life at a pit stop and you havent gone to church since you were a kid but you still think about praying sometimes and you split a 6 pack with someone you love and a few too many people around you have guns and the land around you is so big when youre right in the center of it you feel like it could swallow you up and you know for a fact theres an unimaginable amount of mythology just beneath the surface. and then you watch the next episode where sam kills paris hilton or something

AND DAN AND PHIL ARE BACK???
I started this year making a meme about John Green being back and I thought that would be the wildest thing to happen this year... Clearly I was wrong. I feel like the universe is just confused about what year it is... I'm in my mid 20s now and I don't need to be going through this again.
