you’re his EVERYTHING. His world, his love, his absolute every feelings of him. He can’t lose you aswell, just the thought of somebody having you made him awake everynight.

he couldn’t get any proper sleep at the thought of you leaving him. So he thought, what if he just convince you to stay here with him? to grow together. That way you won’t leave him, he’ll tell you how much you mean to him, that he would die for you to stay.

you’re hanging out with Steven, you could saw Garnet looking very uncomfortable when she saw you and him. You felt a little weirded out and decided to ask her what was wrong. “hey, Steven? i have to talk to Garnet for awhi-“ Steven’s voice interrupted yours before you could even finished the sentence. “NO!” his whole body starts to turn pink again and you were shocked. “NO.. way! what i mean is, you cAN talk to Garnet..!”

Steven smiled it off and put a thumb up while he starts to calm down. You were very worried about him, but just once you turn around—you couldn’t find Garnet. “huh, thats weird..”

at the end of the day, you went home. But something felt off, you feel like a pair of eyes were watching you from behind the shadows. You couldn’t exactly pinpoint where but it felt like everywhere.

you grew nervous at the feeling and starts to sped up towards your house, that is until you saw a.. gem? they look weird.. they had these weird marks on it. You don’t know anything until it starts to attack you.

you couldn’t even scream and closed your eyes shut while your arms covering your face. You didn’t feel any impact, slowly opening up your eyes you didn’t see the gem.. only shards of a.. SHARDS OF THE GEM.

you panicked, they got shattered but by who? trying to contain your cry, you brought back the shards back to the temple. You ran as fast as you could only to find Steven running towards the temple and still have the door half open.

“S-Steven!! you.. what were you doing..” starting to realize what was happening, you put the pieces together. A pair of eyes watching you, Garnet’s weird behavior towards him, and how easily shattered the gem could get. Only him that could shatter a gem that easy.

you start to take a step back, Steven only froze there and starts to leap up and landed on his knees infront of you. You didn’t know how to react, you dropped down the shards and put your hands to your mouth while tears flowing from your eyes.

“__… please, don’t ever leave me… i- im sorry.” he practically begged you, you stood still and he was still clinging onto your legs. Not giving you a chance to get away from his grasp.

“i could make this work! i can- i can save that gem.. i can save you, i can save us! just please, ‘it’ attacked you, i HAVE to protect you.” it is the first time you’ve seen this side of him.

so.. cracked, so vulnerable. He used to looked so strong, so happy, so perfect. But now, he’s broken. He want you, he NEEDS you. And you certainly need him, you couldn’t live without him.

you thought for a moment before kneeling down and hugged him, he was happy. He smiled and look at you, you could only smile tiredly before questioning yourself on this decision.

he just shattered someone, he just broke the swear he would never break. He swore that he would never shatter anyone, under any circumstances. But the gem attacked you, if they didn’t get shattered immediately you would get killed. But.. that doesn’t matter would it? the past is already the past he told you.

so you just let it go, you broke the hug and looked at the shards. Steven looks at it with an emotionless face and put it inside a bubble before sending it to his.. secret base.

he turned around at you with a frown on his face before holding your hands. “hey.. its going to be okay. Just promise me, to NEVER leave me.. you NEED me ___… i am your knight, you don’t need anyone you only need me. I have everything you could ever asked for. I will stay with you until your dying breath, i can protect you. So please, don’t ever leave me, okay?” you convinced yourself even more that you’re only a mere human, and he is a half gem.

he is strong, he is everything you could ever asked for. He is perfect, and he is yours. You couldn’t pass on that opportunity so you pledged yourself to never leave his side, and that he is your everything.

it was working he thought, just a little convincing got you wrapped around his finger. Now he just need to protect you, you will be the damsel in distress and he will be the knight who’ll always save you. And even if Garnet or any other gems tried to get in the way of the two of you, he could just put them in a bubble— or worse, shatter them.

he has the power of a diamond after all, that means he is much stronger than any of the gems.

Jasper

Jasper has a baseline of jealousy. She wants all of your attention on her all the time. She wants you to see that she’s the only one that worthy of you. Can you see how much better she is then all these lesser creatures? Jasper doesn’t even try to hide her jealously. She doesn’t mind fighting every single person who even looks at you. Don’t be surprised to see her grinning after terrifying some poor soul. Hopefully if she causes enough damage then people will be too scared to even think about you and then it’ll be just you and Jasper, just like it should be.

Garnet

It’d be rare to see a jealous Garnet. If someone else was hitting on you or asked you out I think she’d keep an eye on it for your safety but wouldn’t be jealous. If you were to ever flirt back in an attempt to make her jealous then it wouldn’t work but if you genuinely liked someone else then Garnet would definitely feel threatened. She’s very good at hiding how she’s feeling though so she’d be pretty calm through the whole thing.

Peridot

Like Jasper, Peridot doesn’t get jealous she’s just always kind of jealous. Unlike Jasper though her jealously comes from insecurity. As an ‘imperfect’ gem she has a lot of insecurities about herself and about your relationship/perceived relationship. Every person you talk to or gem you meet is a threat because what if you think they’re better than her? What if you like that they’re taller or stronger then her?! This would cause her to be overly proactive like trying to get you to go out less and hiding your phone. After all if she’s the only one you interact with then you cant leave her and she won’t be jealous.

How I feel about this character

Oh, Spinel is the absolute Love Of My Life! My fav character used to be a close tie between Pearl and Pink Diamond but once that stretchy bitch kicked Steven in the face to start her Villan Musical™, she basically bounced her way into my heart and took the top slot. I love her oh so dearly, not only for her Tragic Background™ but all the potential she has as a character. Shes so...traumatized, and it really resonated with me during the scenes where she was shaking because she thought Steven was going to leave her, (having irrational anxiety and explosive outbursts because of it hit so close to home) and the heartbreaking scene where shes hitting his shield until she collapses into tears. I used to be a really angry teen, having been abused and mistreated for so many years turning me into an angry, vengeful person that I hated being. So when I saw her collapse and cry “What am I doing? Why do I want to hurt you so badly? I’m supposed to be a friend… I just want to be your friend.” guys I shit you not that scene is my fav and it took my heart and soul along with it

lol, do y’all really gotta ask? Of course shipping her with Steven is my main squeeze. I just really like their chemistry and the potential their relationship could unfold into, both in healthy and non-healthy ways. I do also like Spinearl, or spinel x pink pearl (i refuse to call her volleyball lol) but I’m really just in it for the art, its not something I’m overly interested in enough to read fic about or create myself. I do also ship AU versions of spinel with jasper, yellow pearl, our pearl, and garnet, but its really more of a passing thing than any actual interest. A personal fav tho is steven x Connie x spinel, bc I’m poly and LOVE ot3’s, so it all works out lol.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Oof, that’s hard to narrow down. Outside of romance with steven, seeing spinel interact with any other character is well and truly my fav thing. I just think she could provide such amazing insight into everyone’s lives, from Garnet, amethyst, all the pearls, the diamonds, and even jasper. Bc of her experiences as a glorified toy and her subsequent abandonment, I feel like there’s a whole hidden trove of treasures in spinels history and personality that could really resonate with other characters that id personally love to explore. Like, with our pearl there’s the unspoken history they share with pink and how she really abandoned both of them. With garnet, there’s the fact that as a fusion shes never alone, compared to spinel who now has to come with grips that she was abandoned for millennia. There’s amethyst, and the shared feeling of not being good enough and the threat of being forgotten. Even with jasper, if you go into the dark meta of why spinel is so strong and indestructible, mostly for Pink’s personal use like jasper was, there’s that to relate to.

but personally, i like the idea of her being depressed bff’s with lapis and peridot, lol its why i make them close in my fics

My unpopular opinion about this character

Ooooo im gonna start shit with this comment. Real stir the pot nonsense. Personally, i love all aspects of fiction, from the grotesque fucked up dead dove kinda horror to the fluffiest sweetest whump, all the way to the lusty smut. I love it all and love observing a character thru different lenses is mad fun but personally I feel the fandom was a little too hype to focus on the darker/yandere aspects of spinel rather than the potential she had as the most mature character on SU. i mean, did she lose her shit and try to murder a whole planet? Yah, but so have many other characters. What interests me about spinel is not only did she repent in under a day, she also made the active choice to leave the (semi)unconditional support steven offered her to seek her own growth, knowing that currently she was too toxic to really be a good friend and wanted to become healthier without his help, which is what actually drove me to start my own tumblr acct for it tbh. I’m not gonna police ppl and tell them what to write, im just gonna write the stuff I personally wanna see, which is how mature and self-aware spinel is rather than her more darker qualities.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon

I’m still holding out my breath for the last half of suf to come through, but just in case they don’t I really want a confrontation between Spinel and a stressed-out Steven. I want spinel to be the one to recognize the signs of steven feeling alone and left behind, leading to him acting out and behaving irrationally, something she could really relate to. I want to uncover more about the history of her creation and life with Pink, and for her to be the person who helps steven instead of asking him for help like every other character does.

“W-What happened? Where am I?” You couldn’t help but divert your attention to Pink Pearl lying on the floor by herself. You knelt next to her, giving her a gentle smile as you offered out your hand to help her up.

A blush spread across her face as she gazed at you, placing her delicate palm in yours so as to be hoisted up. You couldn’t help but feel the need to protect her. The crack that spread across her face looked so painful, and you couldn’t help but raise your other hand to trace one of the fissures. She seemed surprised for a second, before you noticed her leaning into your touch.

“Oh sorry.” You retracted your arm. “I wasn’t really thinking-” before you could end your sentence she grasped your arm for a second, before quickly releasing it.

“I-It’s fine. I just... didn’t expect it.” Her face reddened, whether she was embarrassed or flustered you weren’t sure.

“Oh, you’ve met White’s Pearl! Maybe you two can be friends!” Steven approaches the two of you, smiling warmly. Pearl nodded eagerly, her eyes brightening. You were surprised at her adaptability to the current situation, since this was the first time she’d been able to make decisions for herself in hundreds of years, but Steven seemed pleased by how eager she was, and who were you to ruin this for him?

Over the next couple of weeks you got to know Pink Pearl. When some of the gems on Homeworld started moving to Beach City, Pearl came to you asking to stay with you, as Little Homeworld wouldn’t be completed for a couple years. You accepted her request almost immediately, it wasn’t healthy for her to stay in the same place where she’d suffered abuse for so long.

Once she moved in she seemed much happier. Whenever you got home she’d be at your side instantly, asking where you went and what you did. She insisted on helping out with cleaning and cooking, seeing as you were letting her stay in your house, no matter how much you told her it wasn’t a problem.

You worried she might be getting too attached to you, so you tried to introduce her to some of your friends and other gems. Whenever one of these situations came up she’d clam up, refusing to interact with them, only opening up whenever you asked her something.

You told Steven your worries and he agreed that it might not be the best thing, but at least she didn’t mind you, and after all, this was an immense amount of progress considering her prior situation. You eventually gave in and stopped attempting to get her to meet other people, waiting for her to approach someone else of her own accord. She enjoyed going outside with you though, so you continued taking her on outings to your favourite places.

There were some days where you’d wake up with her leaning her head on your shoulder, arms wrapped securely around your waist. Her grip was so tight it was impossible to break unless you woke her up first.

She got progressively more clingy as days turned to weeks and weeks turned to months, you tried to get her to go places without you, bet she refused if you weren’t going to be there. Eventually she started getting you to stay at home more often, asking you to stay with her. She seemed to dislike you interacting with other people, clinging to your arm and trying to pull you away.

One day you were talking to one of your exes. You two had broken up peacefully and agreed to stay together afterwards. He had been asking where you had been for the past couple of weeks, why nobody had seen you as often. It wasn’t long before you felt Pink Pearl’s familiar presence beside you. You took a moment to glance at her and to your surprise she was glaring at your ex with the kind of hatred you’d never expect to see on her sweet face. Eventually she interrupted your conversation, excusing the two of you. She led you round the corner before smashing her lips on yours. What followed was a very tense kiss before she dragged you away forcibly without giving you a chance to say goodbye to your friend.

when the two of you finally broke the kiss because you guys needs air, he stared at you hazily, you’ve fallen even impossibly deeper for him.

he would soon realize that you didn’t even care about the body/gem that was scattered on the ground which lead him to question you.

he was pouting which you mentally took a picture of, you shakes your head and starts to pepper kiss his face.

“Steven, all i care about is you. I don’t love anyone other than you, you are my everything. Im suprised you didn’t found out about my shrine that i’ve built for you.”

to say he was shocked was an understatement, he started to blush heavily once he finally put all the pieces together.

he knew he could be dense sometimes but how could he has not known this?

you eventually moves out and lives with him, where the two of you finally able to be with eachother for the rest of eternity.

Yandereish Steven Universe x reader

You had met Steven by complete coincidence, he called it fate. The second he had walked into your small towns run down skating rink, he caught everyone’s attention. All so Unused to outsiders especially those so...strange. While most ignored him claiming that nothing good came from an outsider, you gladly drank it up. Skipping work to listen to his stories about space and gems. You weren’t sure if you totally believed all of it but Steven wouldn’t lie to you, he was way too sweet.

Even with how much more interesting life was with Steven the longer he stayed the worse you felt. You knew he wasn’t staying for the skating rink or the diner but for you. So you started to drop subtle hints that he should move on and forget about you. When that didnt work you started to avoid him, ducking down when you saw him in the street and pretending not to be home when visited your house. It was hard to see him look so sad but you didn’t want him to be stuck in this dead end town like you were.

So when you woke up to Steven floating outside of your window it was jarring but not exactly surprising. “Steven you cant be here.”

“I know it’s late but I haven’t seen you at all in days...I missed you. I figured out why you’ve been avoiding me and you don’t have to worry.”

You hum in acknowledgment, beginning to apologize for going about it the way you did when he cuts you off.

“You’re just afraid that I’ll leave without you so you’re trying to distance yourself but you don’t have to! When I leave you can come with me and we can have our own adventure.” He looks so happy that you start to feel even worse about telling him

“That not it at all. I can’t come with you Steven, I’m not like you. You have magic powers and have fought 40 foot ladies And I just spray roller skates for minimum wage. You should just go” you frown and close your window but Steven stays for a minute to think

“I’m not giving up y/n! I’ll stay until you realize that you want more then this and that I can give it to you!” He disappears, floating back down and you try to sleep. Now even your dreams are invaded by him and his fantastical stories.
