I think the cullens are all older than computers, so... who is actually good at them and who uses computers like a grandpa?
Well, the thing is being bad at computers isn't really about age. I'll try to tdlr, but my five cents on why computers are so difficult to some people and particularly those of older generations are that it's mainly due to two factors:
The inmates are running the asylum, or: computers aren't actually that intuitive
An issue I often see when I see someone fail to properly interact with a computer is that what they think should happen isn't what happens, or that what they want to do next isn't what the system allows them to do next. This isn't necessarily their failing, their logic can be flawless, it's just that the computer doesn't work like that. Now the user is unable to accomplish their task, they feel they've failed, and from there you get frustration and a sense of difficulty. If this happens often enough, which if often will if the person never learns computer logic (for lack of a better term), the person ends up throwing their hands in the air and concluding they're bad at computers.
(An example of what I mean by computer logic: different browsers, devices, and accounts works tend to confuse people. "I'm logged into my mail, why is it making me log in again?" - person who was logged in on Safari but tried to access their mail through Chrome. It's the same computer, and what's a browser? Add the fact they're logged into their mail on phone and that works just fine for extra confusion points.)
Considering how the purpose of computers is to make our lives simpler I consider this a failing on the computer's end, not the humans. Is it a problem they can necessarily help, no, but part of the problem is that the people designing and implementing computer systems are people who, for lack of a better term, think computer logic is perfectly reasonable (hence "the inmates are running the asylum" (reading material)). That, and figuring out how to make X thing user friendly (and something users actually want to use) is... so hard, you've no idea how hard it can be.
Obviously this is issue is a complicated one and computers being what they are you're never going to be able to make them work the way humans wish they would (it would be nice if your computer intuitively knew it was you and there was no such thing as accounts, good luck implementing that), my point isn't really why computers are the way they are. It's that humans think a certain way, computers another, and for some people it's going to be very difficult to come around to understanding the computer's way of doing things. They'll memorise the steps required to accomplish a given task, or master specific systems because they're familiar. Introduce an update where suddenly everything's changed, however, or have them run into a problem when accomplishing a familiar task, and they struggle.
Defeatism and failure to diagnose the problem
I'll be much briefer here than above and I did touch on it already, but in essence: so many of the people I know who struggle with computers have A: decided that computers are difficult and they're not going to get it right anyway so why try, and/or B: internalised the memorise-the-steps method to the point where that's how they interact with computers, always. Time to learn how to check your new email, aight, guess I'll out which buttons to click.
After all, computers are such strange beasts that in order to get anything right you need to memorise exactly what you need to do, or it'll never work and you'll be stuck at some login page forever.
That, and some people seem to straight up find computers intimidating, "I'll stick to analog." Oh, and let's not forget the "I know how to accomplish the tasks I need to so I'm alright.", an approach that's all well and good until you encounter a problem you have no idea how to go about solving.
(I'll admit I'm basing this point entirely on computer illiterate family members and armchair thinky thoughts.)
Conclusion
It's my understanding that older generations struggle more obviously (word choice here: it tends to be more obvious with older people, younger people do not automatically understand what they’re doing) with computers not because they're being stupid, but because of their logical approach. They never really get the gist of how to interact with computers and get stuck in these weird vicious loops, "I'm not going to learn anything/I know what I need so why try for more". Why it’s so much harder for older generations, I don’t have a good or succinct answer but the two things I’ve listed seem to me to be the main obstacles they contend with.
With that in mind, onto your actual question.
Would the Cullens be able to learn computers, or: who is able to adapt and avoid getting stuck in vicious cycles:
Alice adapts fairly well, since she can see ahead of time which button to click. Because of this she never actually has to learn why things work the way they do, but everyone thinks she's a computer whiz all the same.
Bella gets a new computer now that she's a Cullen. It's really fast and there's no longer half a million pop ups when she uses the internet, Bella concludes becoming a vampire even made her better at computers.
Carlisle is forced to use computers from the 80's onwards as they enter American workplaces. He has had to learn how to use more unspeakably horrid workplace systems than he cares to remember, it's all a blur. He's not going to be glued to the home computer either, it's... nice, and he probably should learn how to navigate the internet better, but he knows how to find the things he's interested in and is happy with that.
Edward would have to learn computers as a matter of pride once they became ubiquitous in households. I can see him taking a programming class just so he can flaunt sexy words like "terminal" and "homebrew" to his very impressed family.
Emmett I think would make a few cursory attempts to navigate computers when they became accessible to normal households, only to find them pretty lame. He'll be outside if the nerds need him.
Esme gets stupidly good at software for architects and interior designers, and can navigate the web to find and share various recipes and household tips with perfect ease. She keeps this to herself because ordering things online for her while she claps in amazement makes Edward so proud of himself.
Jasper I think would be of the same opinion as Carlisle, computers are nice and he knows how to get what he wants, no real interest beyond that. At least, no immediate "wow, computers!! I'm gonna spend so many hours on the internet!!" enthusiasm coming from that direction.
Renesmee has no idea how computers work, zero. However, she's young so everyone including Bella assume she must be a whiz. Renesmee is not a whiz.
Rosalie has studied far too much STEM to be able to escape programming. If anybody in the Cullen family can actually code it's going to be her, though Alice thinks she's useless because jeeze Rose, you can create graphs of balls falling from various heights but not a single pretty website, while Edward hurries to throw in that he knows programming too, you know. Check out this class.

How do the gods interact with you? How do you know they approve/disapprove of a particular offering or action? How does that mutual connection that a lot of people talk about manifest?
Hey anon!
This is a loaded question cuz it's gonna be different for each person. From my experience, the answers to this run purely on intuition and divination.
The gods can interact with us in many different ways. Sometimes they reach out to you through signs (like animals, numbers, recurring imagery, etc), other times they interact with you through your dreams; and sometimes they interact with you via clairsenses (Clairvoyance, Clairaudience, Clairtangency, Clairsentience, Clairalience, Claircognizance, & Clairgustance).
The best way to find out is to ask, "What does a 'no' look/feel/sound like from you? What about a 'yes'?" and go from there. If you're still not sure, use divination. You could do something as easy as a coin flip "Tails means yes, heads means no." for example.
The mutual connection may never truly happen, not everyone can just automatically know what a deity would or wouldn't want/like/think/feel. But you can form a connection with them on your own terms.
It's very similar to human connections, you know your best friend well enough to answer if they like a certain food or not and you may even be able to guess how they feel about some strong political topic, but you'd have no idea how they feel about a food they've never tried or a song they've never heard so you gotta ask.
Same goes for the gods. You can just ask them if they like or don't like something. You can try out new offerings and ask if they loved it, liked it, hated it, or felt neutral about it.
In my experience, if the Morrigan or Lugh really didn't like something I was doing or offering they let me know by giving me a sudden feeling that seemed like it wasn't my own or like it came out of nowhere.
But some people "hear" their gods, some "see" them, and many "feel" them like me! It's a learning curve but don't get too tied up in the Do's and Don't's, you'll just burn yourself out before you even started. Get to know the deities the way you'd get to know anyone (or anything) start by talking, introduce yourself and tell them about yourself; maybe even throw in why you want to connect with them or why you feel drawn to them.
Keep in mind this is my advice based on my own experiences and opinions, I'd love to know how others would answer this question! <:

Really enjoying your fishing escapades!! Im still working on a few, not to mention Ocean fishing.... Hope you'll have better luck with some than I though, especially Floating Boulder, Charibenet, Ruby Dragon and god damn Lancetfish that thing is an asshole. I get Moby Dick now. Anyhow good luck with your fishing!!!! <3
i tend to have really good luck most of the time so im sure itll go fine! though ive heard fuckin HORROR stories about some of these fuckers. triple mooch fish in like tiny time windows are nightmarish. ive only had to do like, one of those, but i had to do it a fair few times bc i was trying to desynth for a swimsuit top lmao. i havent made it too far in my fishing quest, ive been going down the fishing log in order basically, so ive cleared limsa and middle/lower la noscea. eastern la noscea ive done a bunch of them but now im waiting on rain for like 2-3 spots, fog for one (FUCK that crab ive had him on the line like 8 times but he gets free every time), and one for clear skies after rain, and then western la noscea im waiting on a 3 hour mooch window and . something weather and time based? idr what the details are.
but its fun! fishing is good and i REALLY love the tool they gave us in endwalker where if youve caught 5 big fish, you can spend your big fish points to mooch with shitty small fish for 2 minutes. im no longer beholden to the wretched GP sink of the . whatever that is. patience 2? idr. trying to catch shit with fish eyes sucks still and theres no point even trying if youve gotta mooch it. but its a nice little challenge. i also think the fisher's intuition mechanic is cool. im looking forward to getting into the expansion zones later on! skyfishing and lavafishing and saltfishing and voidfishing its like a dream i love it. so many fucked up fish!
my number 1 most desired thing (after 100 glamour plates obv) is a Fucking Tacklebox oh my god. i hate carrying around 30 baits. thats so much inventory space. let me just put them in a box and get them out whenever i need them. please yoshi p im fucking begging you. im on my hands and knees.
anyway this will be nice i think, in my house design theres spots for fish prints, so i am thinking ill collect a bunch of rare fish and print them onto canvases to put in my house. nepto dragon is gonna be there for sure. the others i may rotate out as i collect more rare bitches. im saving nepto dragon for the fishing quest tho first, bc i want to get that out of my log. its a point of pride. i havent caught any of the other fish and i know hes the last one but. im keeping him for that.
incidentally i couldve swore id caught one before but i just earlier got the tutorial notification for when you catch a fish that requires a weather type that follows another weather type. so i guess that was the first one id done lmao. god i have been talking a lot about fishing. im glad youre enjoying my fishing adventures i will be sure to keep you updated! <3

Chapter 19: Equinoxal
I slumped out of my bed, grabbed the phone, and dialed archer.
"Front desk Archer speaking," Arjuna said into the phone.
"Arjuna is Steve, Irving, or Albert there?" I asked tears freely falling from my face.
"Yes, mam, Steve Burnside and Ricardo Irving are in the lobby. I haven't seen Mr. Wesker this morning." Archer said.
"Meet me and the white queen in my office... It's time the Phoenix arose from her flame. After I go Equinoxal brings the D.N.A test to the containment chamber. I can't hide the truth anymore."
"So you made up your mind and decided to put her to rest. I'll be there after I have escorted Mr. Irving to the airstrip,'' Archer said.
"Alright, have a steak and plates sent to my office and Albert's room. Deliver it personally my friend and make sure both steaks are rare please." I spoke hanging up.
It was about time that I went and got prepared for the trial ahead. This would be it. To reveal what is in my heart and embrace him as myself. I was terrified.
I quickly got up and got dressed in a black tank top and long black yoga pants. I threw on my knee-length black sweater and put on my purple corrective shades. I looked like him on the day he captured me.
Without shoes, I headed to my office. The elevator ride was swift and the floor was freezing. Walking off the elevator I swiftly moved to my office. Entering the office I stared at the walls and touched my throat.
"Son of a bitch, why? Why when things were going just as I needed them to, my emotions go and screw everything up." I screamed out as I slammed the door shut.
"White queen activate using code seven four eight," I spoke sitting down in my chair white queen appeared in front of me.
"yes, Tabitha?" She spoke.
"It's time, it's earlier than expected but what you and Archer guessed is true. My heart is too attached. I'm going to reveal who I truly am." I said.
Knock...knock....knock.
"Enter," I said.
"Good morning Commander," agent nighthawk said, "I have your breakfast from Archer."
"Thank you agent Nighthawk. Now if you'll excuse me after this you'll escort me to the containment chamber. " I said taking a bite of the steak, "queen prepare my viral activator, I'm in for a hell of a fight."
(Wesker's P.O.V.)
There was a knock at my door. I swiftly moved to it and opened it. Standing outside was Alistar's assistant.
"Good morning Commander Wesker sir, my lady has instructed me to bring you some breakfast." He said pointing to a cart and opening a cloche, "An A-5 t-bone steak done rare with country-style fried potatoes with two over medium eggs."
"This is a quality choice from your lady. I can't wait to fight her in her Equinoxal form." I spoke taking the food, archer disappeared down the hall.
Then as if in a queue my phone started to ring. Picking it up. I growled in annoyance, "Yes Excella?"
"Albert horrible news about that Alistar woman. We found a grave at the Russian base. It's not for your...wife... but for an Alistar Lancaster and there is a corpse. It seems we have a liar in our midst." she said.
"It seems my intuition was more fact the fiction. Little trickster, what do you think you are doing? Do you think playing as the dead and getting away with tricking me? I wonder how else you will try to entertain me, now that I know your not Alistar. Excella exhumes the body and bury it back in the base in Africa. I should have my daughter close at hand." I said.
"D...d...daughter....," she shuddered, "Yes Albert, just be sure to remember who did this for you." She said hanging up.
I smirked today was going to be fun indeed.
"I guess I should eat. I do not like to keep liars waiting."
(Normal P.O.V. +Time skip)
I awaited him with trepidation or was it consternation? I didn't know and frankly didn't care. I held the viral injector in my hand. Time to play my cards right into his hands.
"Ms. Lancaster isn't it about time you were ready? Let's begin." Wesker said stalking in with a smirk, Steve behind him
Red flag, he used multiple contractions. Something was wrong. This was something I would always remember about him. He rarely used contractions and when he used multiple, it meant he was seriously pissed.
"Yes, let us begin." With a swift motion, I injected the needle into my neck.
Pain and anxiety raced throughout my body, as it twisted and contorted. My nails became razor-sharp talons, my canines turned into long black fangs, bloody bat-like wings draped across my back, my hair a brilliant sliver and I formed a black visor over my eyes. Feeling the contacts dissolve and in the visors, I saw blue. It was time.
Quickly, I flew at him hands curled exposing my claws to the outside. Within seconds I was next to Wesker and while he blocked his face I grabbed his arms and flipped him onto his back. That was too easy was he holding back, why?
"Do not hold back on me now!" I shouted lifting him and attempting to throw him into a wall. Then a kick racks through my shin. I dropped to my knees as he stood up and off of me. Dusting himself off, he grabbed my neck lifting me off the ground.
"Now little trickster, show me who you are." He said throwing me into the floor face first shattering the visor against the cold polished cement floor.
I opened my eyes and dusted the debris out of them, "how long? How long did you know?" I stood up with deep blue snake eyes glowing an icy blue.
"Excella went on a trip to Russia and reported back this morning. Your eyes though are intriguing only those who are perfect bound with the..." realization dawning upon Wesker's features.
"Angelis virus, yes that's right. Have you figured it out?" I speed in front of him slamming my heel into his solar plexus, sending him into the wall.
Dust flying out from the impact, I dashed over to the corner of the room and turned out the light.
"Honey I'm home." I laughed hysterically the virus intensifying the anxiety of being found out by that stupid bitch Excella. Tears of dripping blood fell on the floor.
"There's no point in hiding, Tabitha. Come to me." Wesker said his eyes glowing in the dark room, a growl emanating from his throat.
"As you wish my dear," I said snapping. The silica particles in the air gathered around me shaping into sharp spears. With a simple flick of my wrists, I sent the spears flying in Albert's direction.
His eyes blazed behind his sunglasses. he deflected all but one spear he caught and threw it back at me.
The next thing I knew I heard a splatter and I heard Archer entering and turning on the lights. The spear was impaled through my shoulder. Blood was building up behind the blade.
"It is over my dear lotus. Now come to me." He said softly.
"Yes, captain." I hung my head causing the spear to disintegrate leaving a major hole in my shoulder. The blood that was building up burst forth and spewed from the wound causing me to fall over.
"COMMANDER!" Archer and nighthawk yelled running over to me and catching my limp body.
Steve ran over to me as I was clinging on to consciousness, "hey hanging on ok! Alistar...Tabitha, whatever your name is. I got you."
I saw Albert start to run toward me his face pale. I saw nothing but pure concern on his face. I gave a slight smile then laid completely out on the floor. I heard each drop of blood hit the floor... drip drop like seconds on the clock. Cold creeping upon me like a snake. Darkness's long tendrils snaked their way around me dragging me into the depths of unconsciousness.

There's been a lot going on, and I own this excellent deck but don't really know how to do readings. May I have a reading?
It's really not that hard! I think people build up this mystique in their head, but traditional RWS*-inspired tarot cards (as opposed to oracle cards, etc.) have fairly specific meanings assigned to each card by now, and most people who design decks these days have those meanings and symbolism in mind. So you can just go online and look up the meanings. Lots of sites will have lots (sometimes conflicting) information and you can just kind of take whatever feels right. Also, most decks these days have some kind of pamphlet published along with the deck and tucked inside the box, so you can read it and find out exactly what the artist was intending for their imagery and symbolism.
But... yeah, it's an art, not a science. There's no "wrong" answer.
Once you're doing the actual reading, you can do fancy layouts (the sites will also explain those) or single-card draws or the simple 3-card draws I do when I do tarot nights. It's really, really up to you. I know some people who do simple 1-3 card readings for themselves every day just to kind of think through the day's events and how they're feeling at that moment. There are no, like, scary tarot laws that dictate how you use them.
For me, I kind of end up writing fanfiction in my head lmao. (Or maybe... meta is closer...) When I do these three-card draws, I just think about the meanings of these three cards and how they might intersect. Sometimes the deck itself affects how I feel about things, sometimes what I know of the person affects how I feel about things, whatever. Just think of them as jigsaw puzzle pieces that you can fit together however feels right to you.
In the end... remember this. Tarot has always just been a card game. A bunch of occultists over the years assigned meanings to them in largely ahistorical ways based on whatever they felt like. So you're allowed to do that, too. There's nothing innately mystical about these cards. You can even build a house of cards out of them, if you like. (Though... they're glossy enough that it might be hard. lmao) So just do whatever you want and don't stress out. 💜
------------------
*RSW -- Rider-Smith-Waite is a traditional tarot deck from the beginning of the 20th century, and it's the one that a lot of modern decks borrow imagery and symbols from. You also might hear it without the "Smith" but that's just misogyny because Pamela Colman Smith drew all the pictures and they tried to downplay her contributions for decades but fuck that. :')
Anyway, you'll see a few of those cards when I talk about this Muppets deck in a little while, and you'll probably be like OH I've seen those. They're everywhere.
THAT SAID, ONTO THE READING.
Tumblr media
(Strength, The High Priestess, The Chariot)
Oooh, look at anon over here. So big and strong, both emotionally and physically.
Strength and The Chariot are kind of two sides of the same coin. They're both about strength and willpower, but Strength is a strength that focuses inward and The Chariot directs it outward.
In other words, when a challenge comes your way, it's The Chariot that carries you through, that lets you tackle it head-on with a sort of stubborn joy and a forceful attitude that will let you go far. Strength, on the other hand, helps you emotionally deal with the challenges as they come. Both of them speak to a sense of stability, though, and an ability to deal with struggle and rise above it.
The High Priestess is, again, a liminal kind of vibe -- both inward and outward, within and without. She helps guide you to inner intuition. So she helps you look inside you so deep that you're able to access an understanding that's much larger than just you can contain. She helps you find the route through coming to understand your own power, I suppose.
So I guess... looking at the three of these, you might have challenges coming your way, as ever we do. But if you keep your head about you and seek inner truth, that will help you control and steady your own feelings -- which will let you parlay that into outward drive and success.
(Get it? Drive? I'll show myself out.)
The Chariot, I'll note, also has strong connotations of literal travel sometimes, too, especially in this deck. You're on the road to success, but you might just also be on the road! So maybe enjoy the ride.

"LET'S SEE WITH THE ASCENDANT" PART 1!
NOTE: WHILE I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL ASTROLOGER, I LOVE ASTROLOGY AND ITS ASPECTS AND I LOVE TO LEARN THEM! PLEASE DO NOT STEAL OR REWORD MY WORK WITHOUT CREDIT! THANK YOU :)
Hey y'all!
- I am finally settled and I am ready to give you some more astro knowledge to keep in the books!! Today we will be talking about the Ascendant (ASC for short) through the first 6 signs!! Part 2 will come out tomorrow!
- But first, what is an ASC sign?
-I'm glad you asked honey! First things first, your Ascendant is an angular house! Angular houses are the Ascendant, Descendant, IC (Imum Coeli), and MC (Medium Coeli). I'll do a post on what angular houses mean later on! Or do feel free to research on your own time :)
-Your ASC sign is what's popularly known as the sign (or sign traits) you may give off as a first impression to the outside world. According to the book, The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need by Joanna Woolfolk, she asserts that our personality is a blend of our Sun Sign in combination with our ASC sign. This has some truth in it as our ASC can also represent our self-interests, how we process self-awareness, our goals, our objectives, & how we assert our self-sufficiency! Think of your ASC sign as the sign when you walk in a room full of people.
- You can find your ASC here! Below is my chart( credit from Astro.com) for my visual learners! The ASC will be on the left side of your chart (marked AC); usually your angular houses are marked! In this example, my ASC is in the sign of Sagittarius!
Tumblr media
-Have you ever had someone guess your sun sign but they were wrong? Chances are, they probably are guessing your ASC sign!
-With that being said, let's get into it!!!!
ARIES ASC:
Adventurous and pioneering!
Typically the ones to be "the first" at something.
Likes to get shit done! Act first ask questions later kind of energy.
Leader of the pack vibes.
Possibly have a very muscular, strong body.
When they walk in the room, they give such a strong sense of power, strength, and exuberance!
Possibly can be red-headed. Aries rules the color red and also rules the head. Doesn't mean every red-head is an Aries ASC though. Or they may like to wear alot of red.
They can give a direct, kinda bossy attitude but also a very free-child-like attitude I love it!!
Be careful with sharp objects. Sharp objects like knives are ruled by Mars (Mars rules Aries) and you may be a bit more accident prone so be careful, according to Woolfolk.
TAURUS ASC:
Very stable and calm energy when they walk in the room.
Patient & steadfast people.
Love the arts, could be talented at composing music esp!
Love comfort and the comfort their materials bring them.
Can have super beautiful necks. Necks/throats are ruled by Taurus.
Also, they may have larger, rounder eyes ooooo so cute!! Almost like a doe.
Can accumulate wealth over time.
Loves security and things that make them feel safe.
Many people think they are lazy, but that is not the case. A Taurus ASC does not believe in wasting time on things that don't bring them joy or comfort. They are hardworking, if it means they can attain the goals they set out for!! Once again, THEY ARE NOT LAZY!
GEMINI ASC:
Witty & charming.
Extremely smart and sociable.
Also can thrive in the entertainment industry as actors, writers, TV hosts, or comedians. They can really captivate an audience with their social and witty behavior!
Gemini rules the arms & hands, so they can have really nice hands/arms. If Venus is in aspect to their ASC, this can possibly point to someone who is a hand model.
The type to always want to be constantly stimulated and learn something everyday so they don't get bored.
May like to travel alot or move alot.
They also can marry more than once in their lives.
Extremely intellectual communicators. Very good with using their words as their best assets!
Could have big, wide eyes. This is just a personal take as I have seen multiple Gemini risings with big, wide eyes.
CANCER ASC:
Love security & comfort.
May have a oval face or round face. The moon rules Cancer so I won't be surprised if your face is shaped as round as the moon.
Sensitive to other's emotions & intuitive on how people may feel or react.
Amazing creatives. They use their emotions to make the best projects. Some of their projects (story writing for example) can be based on their lives at home or their hometown.
On the outside they may come off reserved and even cold. This is the "hard on the outside soft on the inside" effect. Deep down they are very soft, sweet, giving, & sensitive.
They want public recognition for their efforts, as you should!!!
According to Woolfolk, they are very good with saving money and handling it as well. Being the opposite sign of Capricorn (the sign of conservation), I am not surprised since opposing signs do share qualities of each other in one way or another.
LEO ASC:
Very grand people and luxurious YESSSS BITCH!!!
People may notice their hair first. Know how Leo is the lion? We see the lion's mane (or hair) first. This also applies for Leo ASCs.
A personal take- Leo ASC have this sun-kissed glow about them (lol pun intended). It's like their skin is so bright and glowy and it is so beautiful.
Give off a very happy and exuberant energy.
Extremely likeable people.
Views life as a stage!
Prides themselves on being a leader and delegator.
Can easily find fame or people will scout them out easily.
Also can be surrounded by alot of influential people. This helps their image if they want to be famous one day. Get to networking!!!
Can have a very nice back. Leo also rules the back.
VIRGO ASC:
Another personal take: why do so many Virgo ASC or Virgo placements have to wear glasses? That's interesting.
May have a frail looking body, but that does not mean they are sick yall.
Looks at life through a filter. Meaning, they like to hold on to valuable information that they can actually use and apply in their life.

Want more TDP canon goodies? Tales of Xadia has got your back!
Today's Role and Keep Twitch stream covered the Table of Contents from Tales of Xadia's upcoming rules handbook, which is scheduled for release in the first 3 months of 2022, before Bloodmoon Huntress comes out. Take a look!
Tumblr media
The first chapter, Welcome to Xadia, is for those who don't know The Dragon Prince at all. It covers the basics, and there probably won't be too much in the way of stuff the TDP fandom doesn't know in there.
Chapter II, Welcome to Cortex, covers the gaming system. If you know D&D, try to ignore it. Cortex doesn't run terribly similarly, and the focus of the gameplay in ToX is very different, in a more intuitive way that really embraces cooperative storytelling.
Chapter III, Gazeteer of Xadia, is - ohoho fams - this is the good stuff, this is the grand prize! This chapter is the deep dive into all kinds of lore, culture, locations, myths, and other worldbuilding that we have not learned anywhere else before - and it's all canon, created in collaboration with Wonderstorm.
And there's art in this book. Glorious art. I am so excited!
Chapter IV, Player's Guide, is the meat of the handbook, containing a complete guide to creating a character from scratch and learning how to interact with the tale you're playing. I've participated in one of ToX's online character creation workshops and created a dozen or so catalyst and narrator characters, and it's very simple once you get the pattern.
Chapter V, Mage's Guide, goes more in depth on how magic works in ToX - and it's going to give us shiny new details on how Ocean and Earth magic work! Aah! It sounds like we should be getting a full explanation for dark magic as well as all the primal magics, except for Stars. Because someone has to be a mysterious drama queen in his mirror.
Chapter VI, Narrator's Guide, is all about how to be the person spinning the tale for your friends, and what you'll need to do it. I've been writing and running original tales for a few months, and it's still a bit wibbly without the full ruleset, but the online tools on the ToX website are really helpful and I always have them open for reference.
Also of note: I asked a question in the stream about whether we'd be getting any new pre-gen characters, or perhaps if there were character sheets out there for canon show characters that players might want to interact with or play. Cam Banks (Cortex's creator) responded to say that there are some characters from the show that are available as catalyst characters - I assume that's in this chapter, under Featured Catalysts - and that it's very easy to shift a character from narrator-character to catalyst-character to playable-character. Which, yes, it should be, because there are only so many stats you need for each of those three roles. So I guess we'll see who got into the book as a featured catalyst!
Chapter VII, The Tale of the Corrupted Core, is, I expect, the long-awaited playable tale set in Lux Aurea between S3 and S4. It's been a long time since anyone mentioned this specific setting, but I have been waiting for this for a while, and Cam confirmed that this tale is very much a Sun tale, just like Gloaming Glade was a Moon tale and Lost Oasis was a Sky tale.
The Appendix is where all the glorious lists are, for the good details like Distinctions and SFX, which will be so much fun to delve deep into for nosy nuggets on our favorite characters from the show! See, Cortex's first ever game was based on the TV show Firefly, (which has a Cortex) and its character distinctions were pulled from characters on the show itself. I have been assuming that ToX will do the same, from the few distinctions I've have seen so far - because Cortex has been delightfully coy with sharing these. I'm expecting that all the available character distinctions and SFX will have been created and included in the handbook because they belong to a character we know or will meet eventually. So if you want to piece together a playable version of Nyx, or Callum, or Amaya, or Corvus, or Ethari, or Claudia, or literally any canon character at all, and there isn't a character sheet for them yet, you won't have too much trouble crafting something that feels very much like them!
Also: ToX has released 12 pre-gen characters, thus far, for people to just jump into gameplay with. They're amazing, with humans and elves as mages and fighters and diplomats and adventurers and rogues and more. But in the Appendix, that little section there says a Baker's Dozen. That means 13, guys. Looks like we're gonna get blessed with one more secret playable pre-gen character! OMG WHO IS IT??
I am SO HYPE for this book, I have had it pre-ordered forever! But there's more canon fun to come, and it's just around the corner.
Every Wednesday at 3PT, Role and Keep has a live Twitch stream. And on December 2, 9, and 16, Cam Banks will be running a 3-part ToX holiday celebration ttrpg which will include new canon details straight from Wonderstorm about how various cultures and/or characters around Xadia celebrate - or don't - during the holiday season! That's right, Wonderstorm is gonna dump all the fun fluffy cuteness (and angst? maybe? I gotta go find out) we need for our upcoming holiday fics, right into our arms. Oh, I'll definitely be taking notes while I watch.
Hmmm. Maybe I can write up a tale that starts out as a perfectly innocent travelers' visit to one of the newly revealed locations in the handbook... until......... Bahaha. Whatever you do, don't touch anything.

🧠Since memorizing everything is some hard shit, allow me... 🧠
Tumblr media
Science has my entire back on this one...
Now, I'm gonna be talking about three techniques, two of them are gonna help if you have a test really soon the other one is in for a long run.
"The Generation Effect"
being tested is supposed to help others evaluate your progress, but it turns out that testing isn't a very good evaluation tool.
It actually functions better as a learning tool but only if used properly. This may seem Counter-Intuitive but first, you should test yourself before you even know the material. For example, start with the practice test even before you started studying it. You'll get answers wrong, But your brain is forced to generate answers, you'll be creative, panicked and end up priming your neurology to learn the correct new answers. This technique works on "The Hypercorrection Effect": when you make a mistake on some type of general information and later find out you're wrong, you're much more likely to remember the correct answer. For example, you're certain the capital city of India is Mumbai but later find out it is in fact New Delhi, you are much more likely to remember that forever compared to somebody who was just simply told the answer New Delhi.
Your brain Hypercorrects. One theory behind this states that surprise and embarrassment play a role, That's why you probably remember everything embarrassing thing that happened to you so far 😂(😥)
Now My Personal Experience: On this one, in April, I had a 20 marks test every week and so my teachers would ask us questions related to the test during classes and I used to get most of them wrong, and after the embarrassment, the test came I actually did better than my classmates.
🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿
"Spacing"
This one is the one for the long run now...
For spacing, you're gonna wanna practice and then almost forget the material and then practice again.
One particular study had students learning Spanish, each group had eight hours to study. The first group studied intensively for eight hours in one day while the second group studied for four hours one day and then one month later studied for another four hours and an entire month later.
So both groups had the same amount of study time just distributed differently. After only getting 8 hours of practice they tested them 8 years later.
Both groups were tested on their Spanish vocabulary and by now you probably guessed the group that spaced their studying over a month gap performed 250% better. Remember this is 8 years later that they're being tested.
My Personal Experience On This: So, in 4/5th grade, I used to jump from learning greek to french to Spanish and so on, so last year staying inside I picked french again, remember this is 4/5 years later, and remembered all the basics very well! I was surprised but now it makes sense!
🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿
"Interleaving"
So, what studies have found is that instead of studying the same thing over and over again, if you mix up or vary the challenge the benefits are huge. At the moment this process might be a lot more frustrating and you may even think that you are learning more slowly but that's why it's so counterintuitive.
Let's take a look at some examples that could apply to your life. All of which have come from a wonderful book called "Range" by David Epison. if you have any interest in high performance and improving skills, this books will change your perspective so I highly recommend it.
First, we are gonna talk about motor skills like piano, so a particularly tricky thing to do is jump "A", big inter violin-piano really quickly so say starting at "C" and then jumping 20 keys really quickly, it takes a lot of coordination and muscle memories to do that quickly without thinking about it without accidentally hitting other keys along the way.
So this study had one group practised the 20 keys jump over and over and they have gone relatively good at it pretty quickly. But the second group had practised not only the 20 key jumps but also mixing a 15 key jump and 10 key jumps
So, ultimately they had to practise but the 20 key jumps but had interleaved or mixed practised by using a bunch of different intervals obviously it would have been a lot more frustrating to be learning multiple intervals at once the 20 key, the 15 key, the 10 key but when they brought the groups back what they found was that the group that practised interleaved or mixed practised was better every single interval including the 20 key jumps. Even though they technically had less practice with it the same has been shown in mathematics. Rather than practising one type of problem over and over, mixing different kinds of problems in between makes the process harder but develops stronger skills.
It's very shocking how bigger difference this type of interleaving makes.
Looked at math skills in grade 7 students. Those that used interleaving or mixed practice saw an effect size of approving someone's from the 50% of skill to the 80%, that is like being an average student to being someone who is definitely something brown parents will dig, which is an ultimate math god.
If you're using cue cards makes sure you're mixing up different themes within those cue cards.
My Personal Experience On This: Now, I have never really tried this before, so that's why I tried my best to elaborate on it as much as I could. But while researching on this, so far this one deeply impressed me, and my mom was a mathematics teacher before my brother was born (she also taught commerce but that's irrelevant) so, she was a middle and high school teacher and she ALWAYS keeps suggesting me, but hey, there's a reason I say relatable to a meme which is about being a disappointment 😐, anyway, I do really look forward to trying this one.
🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿
All this research is incredibly significant because of evidence-based solutions especially in space like education.
And the idea for today's post was suggested by my wonderful girl, @agents-of-shield-fan
and if you want me to make my next post on something you have in my mind, tell me!
Now go ahead and ✨ S H I N E ✨ babe 🤗🌿💕

For a long time I've typed as an INTP, but I've been having thoughts that I'm an INTJ of late. Some on Tumblr have questioned my type (although others think I'm absolutely an Ti dom at the very least) and while these have made me question my type and dig into the functions more, they never really made me doubt myself. Until now, I guess, when what I'm seeing adds them to the evidence. I bet you'll say you need examples, so here goes: (1)
I have failed to recognise the damage being signalled by experiencing pain until it was rather more severe than I would like - specifically, in school a classmate had been pushing a pencil into my finger and I only paid it attention once I felt it scrape bone. He'd been doing that because my pain tolerance was something of a legend in school. I'd ignored it because of my view that pain is temporary and not worth any attention once you know the cause. This sounds very high Ni/low Se to me. (2)
I can justify it being low Si (the fact that it's about an internal experience and that it's based in a larger conviction that if pain won't be lasting it's not serious) but even that has, to my ears, high Ni overtones. Also, I have views, for example, that people refuse to acknowledge their age makes them old because they've irrationally associated a stigma to the word "old" and will make up nonsense like "you're as old as you feel" when you're really as old as you are in years. (3)
This sounds Te/Fi to me. I can again argue that it's about consistent logic and that I'm using a view on groups rather than considering subjective information but... I don't know. As to typing as INTP, I love systems, I tend to prefer deductive logic over inductive logic, I tend towards a "greater good" mentality, I tend to deal with experiences by attempting to apply principles from previous experiences. (4)
I could give more, and more detailed, reasons but really I'd just like your views on the examples I have given, if you wouldn't mind? If you want more detailed arguments in favour of Ti and Ne use, I'll give them. This is just long already. (5)
-----
The pain thing sounds like high intuition/low sensing without any preference for Ni or Ne.
The view of people refusing to acknowledge their age because there is stigma attached to being old is like...just a fact? Ageism is a known phenomenon to the point that there are legal protections against it, and while a Te user might hold this opinion I think they’d also not particularly see it as any kind of unique or indicative thing about them. I wouldn’t attribute this to any function.
For INTP, there are only surface descriptions and no examples although I’d argue that a lot of INTPs don’t particularly have a ‘greater good’ mentality - that’s more of a high extroverted judging position. Also, in light of the past ask, applying principles from previous experiences on some level is universal - if it’s a primary trait that would indicate high Si, but if it’s just a thing you do then that’s just being a person. Notably, when providing evidence for a specific type, I am always very skeptical when someone provides, for the lower functions, just basic descriptions of just how that function works. Your Fe should be pretty bad, and your Si should be mediocre.
If you want to try and prove you’re an INTP you can provide the specific evidence of Ti and Ne, but if you want an actual typing I would throw away the structure of trying to describe yourself in terms of functions and just describe yourself as a person.

I slept very poorly. My situation took up all of my mental energy. I was listening to my intuition and it told me that i was putting a lot of pressure and invisible expectations on this friendship. As i said, i’ve put in so much work into this and that in some ways, i expect a certain level of effort reciprocated. While effort looks different person to person and i cannot say with a kind heart that he has not put in any effort because i don’t know what that looks like for him, i am no longer wanting to put out the same effort as i did before. I feel like i’m making this friendship into something unhealthy with my problematic behaviour and none of us deserve that. It is precisely that i value and love this friendship so much that it is making me see my own toxicity. That’s why my gut is telling me to walk away. The saddest thing is that this has happened before. I guess i do not know how to handle a man-woman friendship. Friendships, as you said, are wholesome, and can weigh more than romantic relationships because if a platonic friend likes you, they like you for you, there is no ulterior motive. It is the pure fondness for each other that drives the relationship. ✖️
I'm so sorry to hear that this situation is weighing so heavy on your heart.
I tend to say the same when it comes to my friendship with him and I feel like I'm too toxic to be around him which is something that I don't like thinking about because it hinders me from making connections with new people. I'm not in a long term relationship, and I'm not planning on remaining in the same position. I'm working on controlling my emotions when it comes to interactions with people, and he's kinda helping me with that, albeit indirectly!
I have few guy friends and I don't have any issues with them, that's why he is special and I don't wanna let go of him. I know that it's going to happen sooner than expected, but I just want to go with the flow and see what happens. IF he comes back, I'll act normal and specify that we are just friends. I think the situation with his gf has made things awkward between us, and I want to make things clear, and then I'll see weather I should let go or not based on his reaction.
I know that he's not making much effort compared to me, but again, I think he's not good at handling things. He's shy and reserved and he mentioned at one point that he's not good with talking that much.
If you feel that this is fueling major issues for you, then... I don't want to say this because I don't like to hear it myself, letting go is the plausible solution. But you can also wait and see. If you care too much for him as a friend, then don't think too much about it. I don't know if I'm making any sense right now, but all I'm doing on my part is to sit back, wait and see what comes of it! I trust him a lot and if he wants to back off then I'll respect his decision. I just hope I'll get to talk to him again and settle things, no matter what the outcome will be!
I'm so sorry for rambling endlessly and I truly hope that you'll find a way to feel better soon! I know that it's not easy to get out of a friendship that is this special and it'll take time to adjust!
Again, I hope I wasn't too harsh or what I said is not relevant at all or insensitive! Keep me updated if you feel like it oc!
