Remus was wandering the streets hoping to find the house that ended the war. The broken ribs weighing him down more and more. He had learned moments ago that his friends were all gone. They were gone, snatched away before they could’ve done what they planned to do. Remus got out the bottle of whiskey he bought in an establishment on his way here. He bumped into a wall suppressing all the broken parts in his body. He slammed his body into a lamppost he didn’t see. Swaying through the streets of London.
“Hey are you okay?”
Remus tried to locate the person through the pain. He was met by a handsome young man. This stranger was slightly shorter than himself. Remus tried to collect himself. He looked rough, but it didn’t mean he’d pretend not to be. He used the pole he previously bumped into to stay upright.
“Sir?” ”Me? Oh yeah, I-I’m alright.” “You look like you’ve had quite the night already.” “New years eve does a lot of things to a man.” Remus chuckled, trying to hide the pain in his ribs. “Are you off to see the fireworks?” “Oh, no I’m visiting some friends. They got… uh they got stuck at home.” “Poor chaps, well I hope your new years starts well.” “Yours too, mate.” “I’m Grant.” “Remus.” “Nice to meet you Remus.” “You too.”
Grant wanted to leave, but there was hesitation in his step. Remus could feel it as much as his probably broken ribs. He turned around to look at this new acquaintance and saw the boy still standing there, inspecting him.
“You look hurt, are you sure you’re okay?” He had to think quickly: “Got into a bit of a brawl earlier at a pub, the bloke did a number on my ribs but I’m alright, I promise.” “Okay, uhm” Grants was hesitating. “Yes?” Remus encouraged. “I know you’re going to friends, but if they get boring or you want to go out, I’m going to a party uptown. If you’re interested to uh, to meet up. You can find me there.”
Grant scribbled the address on a small piece of paper with his name. Remus took it from him and smiled.
“I’ll see you around, Remus.” “See you around, Grant.” He smiled at the boy and pocketed the piece of paper.
Remus was overwhelmed with the pain he was hiding as soon as the stranger turned the corner. He was a horrible friend for even considering to go to this party.
“I’m coming James and Lils, I’m nearly there.”
The slender wolf limped towards the street where Mary told him his friends were. The inhabitants of Church Lane saw a broken figure move towards the church. He stopped at Godric’s Hollow taking in the horrors of a couple of months ago. Tears tore through his body as he dragged his body to the cemetery. Through the tears he looked for the headstone. His eyes scanned the untattered headstone as he sunk to his knees. He conjured a bouquet of flowers. Lilies and tulips. James and Lily’s favourite flowers respectfully. He positioned himself next to the headstone and got out the bottle of firewhisky. He mourned his friends quietly.
“You look awful.”
Remus was ready to berate the woman who had the audacity to talk to him during this time. He looked up and met the one person he still had left.
“Mary.” “The one and only.” “God you look awful too.” He smiled and hugged her. “I’m so glad you’re alive. When I sent that letter I didn’t know. I thought-” “I’m okay. I’m here.”
Remus retook his place in the mud. He didn’t care about the  stains that will undoubtedly be left on his jacket.
”I still can’t believe it. They’re all gone.” “Not all.” “Come on, Mary. Everyone that we love and that had our backs are either dead or in Azkaban. We’re all that’s left.” “How the fuck did we end up here, Remus?” “I honestly don’t know.” “We were just kids.” “Some of us never were.” Remus mumbled and took a sip of his bottle.
Mary wanted to say something, but she was interrupted by the fireworks. The spectacle of lights signalled a new year.
“Happy new shitshow.” Mary smiled holding up her bottle. “To our friends.” Remus chuckled. “To us.” Mary smiled.
They both took a big swig and let silence coat the night. Neither really knew how long it had been.
“Hey Mary?” “Yeah?” “Do you- Merlin this is silly…” Remus cleared his throat and tried to collect his thoughts, “Do you remember the last conversation you had with them?” “With who?” Mary sighed. “James, Lily, Merlin anyone really.” “Lily… No I can’t remember, but James vividly. Right before they went into hiding I told him that if anything happened to Lily, I’d curse him myself and his response was. Mary as long as I’m alive and breathing nothing will happen to Lily or to Harry.” “James probably thought he’s win a duel against You-Know-Who.” “Just say Voldemort. He’s dead. We won.” “At what cost. I keep trying to remember but I’ve been away so long…” “Hey Remus, don’t beat yourself up about it. Whatever it was you were loved-” “Was I? Hmm? Tell me if I was so loved, why is the last conversation I remember Sirius calling me a liar and a monster? I was a monster and he never wanted to see me again. I-” Remus took a deep breath and let his tears out, “I’m a monster Mary. Everyone knows that.” “You’ve been a werewolf for years though and I always thought you were one of the nicest people I knew. You were never a monster in my eyes.” “Not even after you found out?” “Nope. I wasn’t scared. Nor did I think you were a monster.” “This is a mess.”
Mary scoffed and took another drink. She took a deep breath and looked at him.
“You’re going to say something say it. It can’t get any worse Mary.” “I’m leaving, Remus.” Mary started, “A new beginning.” “Where are you going?” “America, I’ll send a letter with my new address. I just can’t stay Remus. I lost everyone I love. Marlene, Dorcas, Peter, Lily god even Peter. My friends were my home and now-” “Now it’s time to find a new one.” Remus sighed. “Yeah. Time to broaden the horizon.” “So that’s it? Everyone is gone?” “Yeah. Sirius is in Azkaban, Minerva went back to Hogwarts, The twins are trying to round up the last ones and Alice and Frank have vanished of the map they haven’t been seen for a while. Either still in hiding or missing in action. Who will tell. Andy is doing great with Ted and their kid. Molly and Arthur and their 7 kids are doing good too but our year not much of them are left. I think it’s just us.” Mary explained. “Molly and Arthur had 7 kids so far? God poor Molly.” “Hey at least some of us knew how to let off some steam.”
Remus chuckled and downed the rest of the flask.
“You know what’s funny?” “What?” “Well I’m the last one standing from our group.” “Besides Sirius and me, yes?” “Well you’re leaving and Sirius might as well be dead.” “Come on, Remus.” “He betrayed the two people I trusted most. I don’t want to hear it.” “Okay… So what’s so funny.” “When they found out I was a werewolf, James said that with them as friends, I’d live a long life. I’d outlive them all.” “You just never thought you would.” “I never believed him. Yet here we are.” “Well what are you going to do now?” “Dumbledore-” “Dumbledore… You’re still putting your faith in that man?” “I ain’t got a choice! I’m a monster to our society! He said he’d house me and get me a job then I’d be on my own.” “And in his favour again.” “Mary I’m going to be lucky if I survive any of this. The wolves are out to get me, The death eaters are and I’ve got no one.” “You’ll always have me Remus. I promise. I might be on a different continent but we’re friends. If you decide to visit I’ll have the guest room open for you.” “Goodbye Mary.” “Goodbye Remus. Now it’s time for you to go and explore the world.” “Yeah right.”
Mary kissed his cheek and left into the darkness of the night. Remus thought about her last words and got out the note from the cute guy from before. He thought about it, but decided against it. He couldn’t drag someone down with him. Remus stood up trying to find his balance. He looked at the grave once more and left. He took a deep breath outside the cemetery, wiped his tears off and looked at the paper again. ‘I really shouldn’t.’ he thought. Yet he sighed and took out his wand. He knew he’d made many mistakes before, but this was probably one at the top of his list.
“Happy new Shitshow.” He mumbled and apparated to the address Grant gave him.

It was early summer and the first warm nights had rolled in which meant little to no sleep for the former ghost of Ketterdam. After a lot of tossing and turning, she sighed and sat up. The little one in her belly started kicking. She smiled and rubbed her hand over her belly.
“I know little one. I feel you.” She whispered.
Her eyes fell on the empty spot in the bed. It wasn’t unusual for Kaz to be up in the middle of the night, but tonight she missed her husband. Slowly she got up from the bed, throwing on one of his shirts. The house was very quiet, not a floorboard or plank moving due to the heat. Y/N krept through the hallway to Kaz’ office. The light was out. She sighed not feeling particularly keen on entering an empty room. She placed her hand against the nearest lightbulb. It hadn’t been on for a while, but it had been on tonight.
“Kaz?” No response. Y/n made her way down to the living area, but no sign of her husband there either, “Who knew my grumpy husband would be hard to find.”
She walked back up the stairs, wondering where he could be. The last step groaned under her weight. Suddenly soft giggles were heard. The twins, of course. Her lips curled upwards as she approached the room.
“Ssssshhht, Mommy is coming. Hurry!” “Quickly pretend you’re asleep.”
Y/n was waiting in front of the door, trying to contain her laughter. She cracked open the door and saw the twins in their beds, giggles still ensuing. Kaz was laying on the couch passed out. She shook her head and walked in.
“You two should be asleep.” “Sorry, mommy.” Jess smiled. “We couldn’t sleep and Daddy was reading us a story. Then he fell asleep before us.” Jordie smiled. “Really?” “Yes mommy. Look he fell asleep!”  “Shhhht, I can see that baby. He must’ve really wanted to stay.” “Will you stay too?” Jordie asked putting on his best puppy eyes.
When Jess joined him, her heart melted. How could she say no to the 4 year old twins who conquered her heart the moment she led eyes on them. She remembered Kaz needing a little push from Nina to hold them. He had never looked happier holding the warm bundles of joy in his arms.
“Alright I’ll stay, but you’ll have to move over.”
The two were more than happy to follow out this order. They both chose a side to lean up against. It was very cramp, but the trio made it work.
“We also listened to Unca Jesper and put a tiara on daddy. He’s a pretty princess now!” Jordie chuckled. “How about I invite over your aunts and uncles tomorrow?” Y/n chuckled. “Really?” “Do I ever lie to you?” “All the time!” Jess responded. “I do not. Saints you two.” She smiled and tickled them.
Their laughter filled the air as they were enjoying the attention. The baby kicked again. She stopped tickling and tried to sooth the baby by rubbing her belly. Jordie jumped up a little when the unborn baby moved again. It was a perfect outline of a foot.
“Mommy mommy look it’s baby sibling.” he beamed touching her belly. “Indeed. They are turning. Getting ready to meet you two.” “Woah that feels so weird!!” Jordie beamed. “Inside voice, my darling. So we don’t wake daddy. He’s probably very tired.” “Like this.” he whispered. “You’re doing incredible.”
The three of them stayed cuddled up till the sun crept through the curtains. Besides short naps the three didn’t get much sleep. Jordie let out a big sigh and held on to his stuffy.
“Mommy, can we make breakfast for Daddy?” He asked, with Jess immediately backing up this plan.  “Of course we can, let’s put our best sneaking shoes on okay?”
They made their way down the stairs as stealthily as possible. Before they could get started she sent the Dreg, that came by with information, to gather the crows for a little party. He would be rewarded generously for his endeavours.
”What compensation are we talking here?” “100 kruge now and 50 more when you bring them here. Do we have a deal?” “Consider it done, Ma’am.” “Thank you so much.” “You have a good day Ma’am.” “You too.”
Jordie and Jess were waiting impatiently for her to start breakfast.
“Alright. Now that your Aunts and Uncles are on their way. What do we want for breakfast?” “Waffles!!!” They cheered. “Of course. Let me guess neither one of you knows how to make it, do you?”
They shook their head and she let out a sigh. Next thing to do was to find the waffle recipe. She flipped through the cookbook Nina gave Kaz, when she was bedridden. Waffles had to be in here.
“We’ll have to ask, Auntie.” “I can make waffles.” Y/n exclaimed. “Yes, but they might be different than auntie’s waffles and we love those.” “Saints, Nina, what did you start?” “Nothing. Except I make them realize that waffles are the best thing ever and the solution to all your problems.” “Auntie Nina!” The twins shouted and ambushed her with hugs. “Fear not, my loves. I will help with the waffles, but I will need some help, Jess will you help me?” “Yes!!” She cheered.
Jordie kept standing by the door and when Y/n tried to pull him back to the kitchen, he spoke up.
“Auntie, where is unca Matts?” “Oh, he is being a sleepyhead. I think he’s a bear who sleeps through summer.” “Bears sleep through winter!” Jordie laughed. “Very good, little one.” Kaz smiled, leaning against the doorframe. “DADDY!!” The twins shouted and ran up to him. “Careful, my leg is hurting from sleeping on the couch.”
He knelt to the ground and hugged them tight.
“Thank you for staying with us daddy.” “Anytime. I promise to finish the rest of the story tonight. Okay?” “Thank you Daddy!” Jess cheered The door swung open revealing the most envied couple of Ketterdam. “Saints, don’t you look precious, Boss!” Jesper laughed. “What on earth are you talking about?” Kaz looked at his reflexion and saw the tiara, “Who did it? I’m not mad, I just want to know.” “I did it.” Jess smiled proudly. “Oh really? How about I tickle you!”
Jess ran away, laughter filling every corner of their small house. Kaz tried catching up with her and eventually laid down on the ground dramatically conceding the chase. The twins ran to his side and pretended to be healers.
“I feel much better, thank you. Now help an old man up.” Kaz joked. “Oh god, please don’t say you’re old I’m older than you.” Jesper groaned. “I guess that makes you ancient.” Wylan joked. “Wylan, so glad you could make it!.” Y/N smiled. “Hi, how are you?” “Tired, but good. Can’t wait to let this one out of here.” “I can imagine. What like 3 more weeks.” “Yeah, something like that.”
Nina poked her head out of the kitchen, like she was trying to sense something. Y/n felt the room spinning and closed her eyes in an attempt to refocus her body.
“Jesper help Y/n to the couch, now.” Nina commanded.
Jesper spun around just in time to catch his friend. He tried getting a response, but besides a faint one nothing coherent came out. Wylan and Jesper helped her lay down. Kaz sat down and laid her head on his lap. His fingers stroking through her hair. A tense feeling building in his chest.
“No worries people. Waffles are here to save the day once more.” Nina smiled bringing out a stack of warm pancakes.
She had never been more popular. Jesper handed Kaz a plate with two waffles on them.
“Thank you.” He uttered and helped his wife nibble on the waffle.
Nina quickly came by to check in on her friend.
“Low sugar?” Kaz asked concerned. “Just like last time. So don’t you dare worry. She’s in wonderful hands.” “Please don’t be twins like last time, though.” Inej smiled. “Inej, you made it.” Kaz smiled. “I wouldn’t miss seeing my favourite troublemakers for the world and a little birdie told me there was a party.” “You’re right in time.” Nina smiled brightly pulling her best friend along to the kitchen to gossip and make more waffles.
Everyone was enjoying the waffles Nina made. Some like Wylan and Kaz were taking it slow like they were trying to savour every little moment. Whilst others like Jesper and the twins inhaled it like it was water on a scorching day. Jordie made his way over to Wylan like he was on a mission.
“Unca Wy?” “Yes?” “Will you play something for us, please?” “Of course, Jordie. It would be an honour. to play for you.” “Yaaaay!” “Unca Jesper, will you dance with me?” “But of course! How could I not?”
Kaz smiled at his found family and felt at ease. Y/n sat up and snuggled into his side as she too enjoyed the music Wylan was now playing. Kaz held her protectively.
“You’re still wearing the tiara.” She smiled. “All is as it should be.” Kaz said. “You’re going soft?” “I went soft the day you finally kissed me.” “Finally? You sir were the one calling the shots remember?” “I do remember. You were my personal saint.” “Oh god that was so cheesy.”
The duo laughed and turned back to the group. They were all dancing or making music. Jordie was sitting in Jespers neck to be the tallest dancer and Inej was dancing with Jess. They were happier than ever.
“You know, Kaz, how I used to dream of finding a home?” “It was your biggest dream.” “I found it.” “Home.” Kaz smiled.
Jess wiggled her way to freedom and tried pulling Kaz along.
“Dance with me, daddy!” “Only if you’ll dance with me.”
Jess cheered and the party was a grande succes. It wasn’t provoked with wealth it wasn’t corrupted by rivalry. It was home.

I just finished reading “burn for you” and I’m absolutely in live with it . I’m hoping you’ll make a part 3 of and to see the old friend group reacts to regulus and y/n new type of relationship but only if you want to 😩🤚🏼
Hi!
Firstly: thank you it means a lot to me that you love it!
Secondly: to be honest I wasn't planning on it. Sorry :(
However I was planning on some Regulus x Reader soooo maybe in the future I'll change my mind, but to not get your hopes up too much I'll say no for now and I'm so sorry.
I'm away on a trip for a few days so who knows what will happen now you've inspired me :)
I wish you a spectacular day or enchanting night!

Oooooh boy, these ‘friends’ in burn for you make me mad 😤 (Sirius and Remus excluded obviously - they can do no wrong). Maybe I’m just very unforgiving…but if they can’t even give her a little bit of time and space to heal after a major heartbreak without acting all bitter towards her, then they’re not worth it 💁‍♀️✨ The new friend group is where it’s at. Screw James and everyone else (except Sirius and Remus and maybe Peter), let’s just marry Regulus.
Hi!
This is obviously exaggerated a bit cause that's the whole point of it. Marlene just felt her heart break from the sudden disconnection with her friend. You see Marlene in my head would definitely be the person to give the heartbroken reader space but in this one she feels upset that they just left her behind. Sort of like a friendship break up. But yes get yourself friends who support you.
Glad you enjoy it. At least I'm going to assume so and have a wonderful day/evening!

Burn for you (Part 2)
Summary: There is a saying that the grass is always greener on the other side. Was this what James was feeling?.
Warnings: Mentions of cheating, shouting, alcohol, pureblood supremacy mentions, food, SWEARING, blaming self, doubts ... It’s a freaking long one... Oops.
Masterlist: Here
Part 1
A/N: Anonymously requested! Hope you all have a wonderful day and enjoy! Also cause I promised I’d try and remember to tag you: @venomsvl , @halobaby
Request: Could you do a part two to burn for you and make it so that she doesn’t forgive them and moves on to new friends and James regrets it because lily isn’t what he thought he wanted
A/N 2: At some point the Black brothers speak French the translation is at the end, it feels more authentic when you don’t know in advance what they’re saying.
Tumblr media
On the way back to Hogwarts, I chose to break from the group and looked over the training grounds. The open highlands of Schotland were a nice change of pace from the last few days. My hand instinctively slipped up to the necklace. It had been a gift, for our one year anniversary. He promised that... Nevermind he didn’t mean it. I felt tears run down my cheeks. I took a deep breath and snatched it off. I took one look at it and my blood started to boil. I was so angry at myself, how could I let this happen? How could I not see it?
“Hey, you coming?”
Sirius placed his hand on my shoulder. I wiped any remaining tearstains away and put on the same smile I had before at the tavern. I faced him and nodded. Sirius noticed the necklace in my hand.
“You can throw it into the Black Lake tomorrow, for tonight let’s get some rest.” “I don’t think I can let go, yet.” “All the more reason to do it.”
Sirius and Remus guided me to Minerva’s office.
“Albus we can’t not look for her, she has been gone for days. How can you care so little!?” “Professor?”
Minerva spun around at the sound of my voice. Her hands flew to her mouth.
“You’re back. Goodness gracious!” “I’m alright, professor.” “Come by my office tomorrow, I would like a little chat with you.” “Yes, Professor.” “Dismissed.”
Remus held my hand and we talked about where I went. I had seen where Remus goes every month. Remus tried to say it wasn’t too bad, but I hugged him tightly. I wasn’t sure if I did it for me or for him, but it was needed. Sirius opened the common room and we walked in. I spotted James and Lily snuggling closely. I took a deep breath and mumbled a goodnight. I saw them get up, but Remus stopped them.
“Give them some time okay?”
I didn’t wait around to hear their responses so I went to my dorm and fell on my bed. Marlene and Dorcas joined me, knowing Lily and I sometimes had these midnight gossip talks.
“Girls, you don’t have to do this.” “Are you kidding us? We still want the tea, just this time we’ll be front row instead.”
Marlene laughed at Dorcas’ need for the drama. I smiled and held her hand. We started talking about our night out. They were so on board with Remus and Sirius being together.
“So now we have the obvious tea out of the way. Did you see that Slytherin boy smiling at you?” “Marls, did you see she smiled back?” “Oh come on. Barnaby is just a friend. There is nothing else to say.” “Right. Isn’t that what Remus told you about Sirius 9 months ago?” “No... I mean yes, but that’s different.” “Oh really?” “We don’t believe you.”
I rolled my eyes and looked at the pair.
“Okay, fine, you want the tea?” “Obviously!”
I looked past them and my heart sank. Lily was standing there awkwardly.
“I didn’t know you all started without me.” “Lils, join us, it was about to get juicy.” Marlene smiled, trying to mend the broken pieces. “Yeah, join.” I smiled and moved over.
All four of us in one bed was crowded but we should’ve done it before.
“So quick catch up. Cute Slytherin boy was definitely flirting with our gal.” “He was not!” “Yeah, right.” Dorcas scoffed. “Oh please how would any of you have seen that you two were practically making out in front of us! I was glad Peter was there to talk to.”
I laughed as both bold girls turned as red as a tomato.
“No, that’s not what happened.” “Oh really?”  “Come on, I wasn’t even there and I can see that being true.” “Thank you!”
Marlene hit me with a pillow and I laughed.
“I like how a pillow was your best defence.”
We laughed and decided it was bedtime. I could feel that Lily wanted to say something, but not a word followed, she got in bed and we turned off all the lights. I couldn’t really sleep so I took a book and went to the common room to read a bit. I gazed into the fire and thought about James. How he used to promise me that he didn’t love her anymore. How he promised I was the one he would always love. Every quidditch game, he would push through all the fangirls to give me a kiss. I wanted to see Lily and James happy, I wanted to see this work, so it wasn’t for nothing. Who was I kidding? Seeing him look at her like that is suffocating me. I snapped out of it when chatter around me was heard. I looked around and saw some Gryffindors get ready for breakfast. I must’ve fallen asleep here. I quickly made my way up to my room.
“There you are!” “Marls, I’m fine, I fell asleep with my book in the common room.” “I know that.”
Lily and Dorcas giggled.
“Does anyone want to go to Hogsmeade after class? My Honeydukes stash ran out.” I sighed, “and boy do I need that right now.” “Oh I would love that, Marls and I need some stuff too” “I can’t join, James wants me to go somewhere. Could we go tomorrow?” “Can’t Quidditch practice.” Marlene smiled. “Oh...”
We were debating a solution when I came across James’ sweater. I gave it to Lily and leaned against my bed. She mumbled a quick thank you.
“We could buy some for you.” I tried. “No, it’s n-... I’m good.”
Lily walked out, with her shoulders hunched. I wanted to say my heart hurt seeing her like that, but honestly, I felt nothing. I got dressed as the thoughts flooded my brain.
“Hey, anyone present in that brain of yours, we’ve been trying to get your attentions for literal minutes.” “Sorry Marls, I’m just tired.” “We’ve got to get to breakfast or we’ll have to wait for food till lunch.”
I followed them, but everything was fuzzy. I collided with someone. The other person laughed as my butt touched the floor.
“Reg, help the gal up.” “Barnaby, do you know who this is?” “Would I tell you to help her up if I didn’t.”
I accepted the help and was pulled back on my feet. My eyes met these gorgeous grey ones. A smirk formed on my face.
“Just between us. You have the most beautiful eyes between you and your brother.” “You’re only saying that because I’ve got the ability to push you on the floor again.” “That is for you to guess and me to know.”
I stepped back and Barnaby had joined us. He hugged me and we made our way to my next class. Regulus and Barnaby were really sweet and weren’t tip toeing around me like I was fragile. I could feel the looks burning in the back of my head when I sat between them. The day went by better than I expected. Snape didn’t like me hanging out with his friends, but we just coexisted. Marlene pulled me back to the marauders for lunch.
“What was that about?” “Oh come on. I can be friends with other houses.”
James scoffed at my answer. I rolled my eyes and ignored it.
“Oh Marls, Regulus is joining us to Honeydukes. Reg and I will be meeting some friends in the three Broomsticks afterwards.” “I don’t know... I don’t trust them. Haven’t you heard Bellatrix is talking to some psycho.” “It’s Reg, he’s at school so if we stay out of trouble then no one will know.” “Fine.” “You never hung out with Slytherin’s before.” James grumbled, “You promised me you wouldn’t, they’re dangerous.” “Yeah and you promised me you wouldn’t cheat, but here we are. See you.”
I sprang out of my seat and went over to Barnaby. I left them behind flabbergasted. I could feel the stares. Regulus moved over. Barnaby started talking about the divination he’s been up to. Regulus slightly nudged me and I faced him.
“What did you do? Your ex is looking at me like he’s going to kill me.” “He wouldn’t stand a chance against you.”
Regulus laughed. I turned to them and saw James looking at me with a hurt expression resting on his features. I felt bad for what I said, but it also felt good being away from him. They dragged me along the rest of the day. I laughed at their silliness that they hid under their serious exterior.
“Oh shoot, need to see McGonagall, see you in the courtyard for Honeydukes?” “Sure, Oh and wear something warm!” Regulus shouted after me.
I sprinted through the hallways. Great, I was going to be late to Minnie’s office. I tried to catch my breath as I knocked on the door.
“Enter.”
I sheepishly pushed open the door and closed it behind me.
“You wanted to see me, professor?” “Yes. I’ve been worried about you.” “I’m sorry?” “You missed 4 of my classes because you were missing. Which is the biggest concern right now. I want to talk about how you are.” “I’m fine, professor.” “Try again. This time with an answer I’ll believe.”
I looked down and tried to hide the tears caused by her question.
“I don’t know.”
Minerva offered me tea and a biscuit. I cried for most of the time. When she finally had to put an end to our conversation, she told her she will try to help if I ask for it. I was considering it. I put on something warm and looked in the mirror once more. I plastered a smile on my face.
“Hey Sorry Minnie was keeping me up.”
They all looked at me.
“What?” “Have you been crying?” Marlene asked. “No.” “It’s okay if yo-” “I said I didn’t.”
Regulus hooked his arm around me.
“I say we leave this behind us and get some sweets.” “Oh yes, I’ve been dying to get some chocolate.”
Marlene dropped the subject, but we all knew I had. I whispered a quick thank you to Regulus and we chatted for a while. In Honeydukes, Dorcas and Regulus were getting some candy and Marlene and I were buying some extra for Mary and Lily.
“Please don’t be mad, but you never hung out with the Slytherins before. I heard some of them are dangerous, like Snivellus, Barty, Mulciber. I know you’re mad at James, you’ve got every right to-” “Yes, I do, Marls. He broke my heart. I feel like suffocating thinking about Lily in his arms, but I don’t need him. I can look after myself.” “I know, just be careful. You’re not exactly a pureblood.”
Her last words were whispered. I looked at her and then back at Regulus. He was like a child with a lot of gifts.
“I know what I’m doing.” “Okay, just don’t forget about us.” “I could never, Marls.”
Regulus picked me up. I screamed out with laughter. Dorcas and Marlene were gazing at each other. Regulus remarked that they’d be great together. They played it off, before saying goodbye. Marlene stopped us.
“You’re cool, Black. Your brother is wrong about you being uptight.” “No he’s correct. This one is just a bad influence. If my parents found out, I’d be dead.” “Reggie, let’s get going. I’ll see you girls tonight.”
Regulus pulled me to the three broomsticks and we sat in the back. Soon we were joined by a mismatch of houses. Barnaby, had two Hufflepuffs with him and a Ravenclaw.
“Lioness, This is Pandora, she’s a Ravenclaw and Erik and Lori, our Hufflepuffs.” “Lori, I think we have DADA together.” “Yeah.”
Regulus and Pandora were mostly talking about potions. Don’t tell them I said this, but they’re definitely platonic soulmates, like Remus and Lily. My smile dropped as soon as her name entered my brain. Lori put her arm around me.
“So we heard what the golden boy did... So tonight we’re going to ruin a date. Are you in?” “No. I’m totally cool about him being with Lily.” “Yeah right? Dream on. Something tells me he’s not over you.” “Why would you say that? He doesn’t like me. That’s why he cheated. I wasn’t enough fot him.” “I’m going to stop you right there, Lioness.” Barnaby said, sliding me another Butterbeer, “You’re way out of his league. He couldn’t handle you. Now he’s gone to his little back up and hopes he’s happy, but he’ll never be and we’ll show you what we mean.” “Barnaby has a point, we should show him how well you are doing without him at the Winter Ball.” “Don’t be silly. No one will ask me.” “Nonsense. Seeing that idiot jealous, is so worth it.” Regulus said. “You? You’re going to ask me?” “Why not?” “What about your other Slytherin friends. I’m not exactly their kind of people.” “We’re not exactly their kind either.” I smiled at them: “You’re willing to do this for me?” “And the drama, but you’re one of us.”
Lori grabbed my hand and smiled. I liked hearing that. The door swung open and James stepped in with the marauders behind him. I rolled my eyes and downed the drink before me. James spotted me and kept gazing my way until Sirius pulled him to a table.
“Jerk.” I mumbled.
My friends laughed and we decided to move on with our conversation. Lori and Pandora wanted to take me dress shopping. I doubted since I usually went with Lily and Marlene, however they convinced me. I zoned out for the rest of the evening. Regulus grabbed my hand and I yelped.
“Come on, we’re going back. James has been looking at you ever since he got here.” “He did?”
Regulus nodded and pulled me out, before I reached the door a second set of hands stopped me.
“Hey, Y/N, we need to talk.” “Do we, Potter?” “Come on, stop being such a bitch and let’s talk.”
I scoffed and took a butterbeer from Madame Rosmerta and threw it over his head. I paid for the butterbeer and walked out leaving him there drenched. Regulus pulled me to the group who saw the whole thing. We arrived back at the castle and Barnaby offered to walk me to my room, but I had to do something.
“It’s really sweet, but I have to do something.” “Okay, be safe.” “I will. I doubt Butterbeer James will talk to me now.”
Barnaby smiled and left. I made my way to McGonagall’s office and knocked on the door softly. She looked very tired and like she just got out of bed.
“Oh hello, dear. What can I do for you?” “Can I come in?”
I avoided eye contact. She opened the door further and motioned me to proceed.
“Next time I see her, I’ll hex her.” “No you’re not Prongs.” “She threw Butterbeer all over me, who does she think she is.” “You're not exactly the one to talk.” “What’s that supposed to mean, Wormtail?” “You broke her heart... Did you expect she'd forgive and forget that in what? 3 days?” “No?” “Oh, Merlin.”
Lily, Marlene and Dorcas were chattering in the common room and their eyes widened, when they saw James. Marlene started cackling.
“What happened?” Lily asked concerned. “Y/n threw a butterbeer over my head.”
James kissed her and held Lily’s hand. Lily let out a sigh and rolled her eyes.
“So much for forgiving us.” she mumbled. “She's trying.” Remus commented, “She really loved him.” “Where is she by the way?” Sirius asked.
The girls shared a look and started whispering to each other, leaving the boys out of it. Many students returned to the common room and laughed at the drenched chaser. I walked in and stopped in my tracks as all eyes were now on me.
“You left before us.” “Wow, good observation, Potter. Although I guess me being pulled out after you insulted me so I threw a butterbeer over your head helped.” “you insulted her?”
Remus tried holding back Sirius. I put a hand on his shoulder and the elder Black heir calmed down.
“The reason I’m late is because I had to go see Minnie for something. Not that this is any of your business.”
I bid them goodnight and left to the room, crawling under my mountain of blankets. I heard the others sneak into the room, because as much as I wanted to sleep, leaving them would be the hardest thing I ever had to do, but I ran out of options to deal with the pain. Once the snore concert started, I decided to let my suitcase pack itself and change for the next day. I walked out on the best girls I knew, but it was something I had to do to let myself heal. I was walking towards breakfast when I heard my name echo through the halls. I turned to face Marlene. Dorcas, Lily, James and Sirius weren’t too far behind her.
“How could you!?”  “I couldn’t stay there, Marls. I-” “No, enough excuses! You’re selfish. I can’t even express how mad I am.” “Yes, I am selfish cause seeing Lily is like suffocating.” “We were fixing this. We were healing.” “No. I was hiding it. I thought I could pretend everything would be fine, but I can’t.” “Don’t get me wrong I feel for you that you got cheated on. I really do, but I thought our pledge was worth more than that.” “The moment Lily was kissing James it the moment the pledge was broken, this one wasn’t on me.” “Can you just blame the one responsible?” “Who do you think I blame? It’s not Lily, fuck it, it’s not even James. For the last three days I’ve wondered what Lily has that I don’t. I wonder if I dressed differently, acted a different way wouldn’t they have done what they did? I AM SUFFOCATING. I was screaming out the pain. I wanted to run. So yes, what I did was selfish in your eyes. I left, so I could learn to breathe again cause I can’t do it.”
Someone stood in front of me. I recognised his Slytherin attire and voice.
“I think that’s quite enough.”
Pandora and Regulus pulled me along, but I couldn’t contain my tears anymore. I was broken and with this argument everyone knew. Regulus held me tighter than ever, hoping some of the pieces would fit back together. A hopeless mission in my opinion. They took me to a more secluded area where they could comfort me without the whole school watching. The other group had returned to their common room. James was holding Lily as the girls were throwing out all their anger about the situation. James didn’t really pay much attention to them. His mind travelled to the person he broke. How carefree she used to be. How her laughter would fill the halls. Did he make the wrong decision? Did he not love the woman in his arms as he should?
“James?” “Hmmm?”
He tried to pull his focus away from his thoughts. Lily, Marlene and Dorcas looked at him.
“What did I do?” “I’m going to end you.” “No you’re not, Marlene.” “Then get him out of my sight.” “I’ll be with the boys. See you in class later?” “Sounds good. Love you!” “Love you too!”
James looked around for Sirius, who in the hallway making some homework. He sat next to the focused teen and cleared his throat. Sirius looked up, but dropped his eyes back down. James cleared his throat again. Sirius rolled his eyes and closed his book.
“Drama queen hotline, what can I do for you, Prongs?” “I might’ve made a mistake.” “No shit, Prongs.” “It gets worse.” “How? Please enlighten me on how it could get worse.” “I still love Y/N. I think.”
Sirius went through the entire emotional spectrum in two seconds. He stared at his friend. James just continued talking to how he came to this conclusion, but all Sirius heard was to punch him in the face.
“So can you help me, please?” Sirius finally moved and stood up: “No.”
James was going to protest, but Sirius marched away with haste in his step. He couldn’t believe his friend and needed to talk to Remus. Regulus got Lori and Pandora to comfort me while he went to do something. Not much later we were out of there ready for class. I noticed Lily sitting next to Marlene, instead of Dorcas, who was now next to James, where Sirius normally sat. He was now at my desk. I sat in my seat and smiled at Sirius. He looked up from his books and smiled back before blocking me out again. My heart felt heavy.
“I guess this is what I get for thinking about me...” “What?” Sirius asked and he turned towards me, “Oh no. I’m happy to sit next to you. Dorcas was happy to do the same, but I’m currently ignoring James.” “What? You two are like joint at the hip.” “He’s being an idiot right now. I just need to not be around him or my IQ will drop before the owls.”
I giggled and  it was nice working with Sirius. we chatted a bit and I felt the whole nightmare that was this morning pass. Sirius even started asking about his brother.
“Hey, I want to apologize I messed up everything. Can you tell Marlene I never meant to hurt her? Like I’m coming back to them I just need time.” “It’s okay they’ll get it. I get it. Just you take care of yourself. I’ll be right here if you need me.”
I nodded and hugged him tight before leaving with Lori and Erik. They wanted to know everything, implying I liked Sirius like that, but I knew better. I dodged every question about it. We were gathering for lunch when suddenly Regulus stood besides me. I spotted my old friends looking at us. Regulus was holding some flowers.
“My beautiful, beautiful Lioness, would you do me the honours of being my date to the Winter Ball.” “I’d love that, Reggie.”
I smiled and hugged him tight. Sirius clapped and so did a few others. I was growing bright red and wanted to disappear. I sat back down and took in the amazing smell of my favourite flowers. Remus nudged Sirius who hadn’t said a word to James all morning. Sirius played it off as being stressed with homework, but continued to ignore James nonetheless. Sirius left not much later, but not without Remus stalking him to his next destination. Sirius stopped in his track.
“I know you’re there, Moons.” “What’s going on with you, love.” “I can’t do it. He breaks her heart and next he’s like do I still love her?” “What are you talking about.” “Earlier James came to me and said he still loves her...” Sirius sighed and ran his hand through his hair.  “So he’s dating Lily but still loves the girl he broke? This is a lot of drama even for us.” “Oh please, the Toujours pur stuff sounds great compared to this fuck up stuff.” “Sirius.” “Look me in my eyes and tell me I’m wrong.”
Remus kept quiet and hugged his partner. Sirius hugged back tighter than he ever had. Sirius tried to compose himself and let go, but Remus didn’t allow it, making Sirius melt into the best hugs he’s ever gotten.
“Can I now punch him?” Remus asked.
Sirius laughed and they decided to go back to their dorm to confront James. Remus commented that he really wanted to, but Sirius declined again. Something about staying out of trouble, but it was followed by a lot of laughter. James and Peter sat in their dorm doing some homework. Peter greeted the duo, but by the looks Remus gave James he knew this was going to be one of THOSE days.
“Oh boy what is it?” “James I’m going to kill you.”
Remus started sprinting after James, who also darted away from the teen. Sirius sat next to Peter as the two continued their chase.
“James still has feelings for the one we lost due to him kissing Lily.” “Oh that’s messed up.” Peter sighed, “Wait, am I the last one to know this, again?” “Sorry, Wormtail.”
James tripped and Remus was holding him down, but Remus’ anger was too much even for the fit chaser. Sirius shot up and peeled Remus off of James, who crawled back frightened for his life. Sirius pulled Remus to the other side of the dorm and calmed him down. Peter held out a glass of water for James. Sirius marched over to James and held is hand out. James looked at it unsure, but his found brother had never let him fall.
“I know it’s fucked up and I’m trying so hard not to let it affect my relationship with my Lily flower, cause I love her. I know that I do. We were practically meant to be...” “But?” Peter questioned. “But I keep thinking about my time with Y/N. She was loud, proud, a prankster and her laugh was like music.” “I’m going to puke.” Remus mumbled.
Sirius sat on his lap to calm him down and Remus snaked his arms around the elder teen. For the rest of the days they stayed in their dorm to talk about it. I got to the Gryffindor table and was surprised to see the four boys missing. I looked at Marlene questioning, but she turned away from me. I know I hurt her, but it was the right thing to do. The next couple of days went in a flash: classes, poisonous looks from my old friends, avoiding James, lonely evenings in my dorm, buying dresses for the ball, talk sessions with Minerva since she was worried, late night talks with Regulus and mostly trying to hide the empty feeling inside of me that was slowly being pieced together. Lori and Pandora joined me in my dorm to get ready for the ball.
“Lori, I look like someone else. I really don’t know about this dress, maybe we can switch?” “Absolutely not. You chose it. You were feeling so confident about it.” “Because I wanted to show everyone I’m fine, but I look at my reflection and I’m not.” “You are perfect and James will regret what he did to you.” “No. I don’t want that because if it doesn’t work out between him and Lily then...”
I looked at my reflection and took the dress in. it hugged me in all the right curves.
Tumblr media
“Then what?” Pandora asked. “Then me suffering will have been for nothing. At least if she’s his soulmate, it wasn’t for nothing.”  “You know what I would say to him? Good riddance.” “Lori!”
She just shrugged and finished putting on her shoes. She looked gorgeous and so did Pandora. They both stood next to me and I was mesmerized by our dresses.
“Fine, but if James tries to talk to me I might scream.” “We’ll keep him away from you. Besides Regulus will look after you. Rumour has it he’s a good kisser.” “No. This isn’t like that.” “Oh but our sweet innocent lioness. It’s always like that.”
I rolled my eyes. We talked about the boys of our new group a lot. I started to feel better in my skin and decided tonight was going to be the night I just enjoy myself. We walked to the great hall with the necessary complaints that there are too many stairs for our heels.
“Next time we get ready in Lori’s dorm.” Pandora sighed.
Regulus, Barnaby and Erik were waiting for us at the bottom of the stairs. The boys gasped at our appearances. Regulus held out a corsage that complimented my dress perfectly.
“I know it’s corny, or old-fashioned, but it’s a tradition for the Black Family.” “I like it a lot, Reggie.”
He offered me his hand and we walked into the great hall music booming through it. Regulus immediately pulled me to the dancefloor. He was a phenomenal dancer. I smiled as he made me glad over the dancefloor. After hours and hours of dancing I asked him to go to the hall to have some quiet time. He took me there and it was a lot quieter. I took a deep breath and decided to take my shoes off. Regulus smiled.
“Are you okay, my beautiful lioness?” “Tonight has been the most incredible night of my life. I can’t believe it.”
Regulus smiled and put his jacket around me. I blushed slightly. We just both looked out to the beautiful snow covered highlands. Every now and then we would talk about whatever was on our mind.
“Would you like a drink?” Regulus asked. “That sounds perfect right now, thank you. I honestly didn’t realise I was in need of a drink.”
I shifted my weight from one leg to the other. Regulus chuckled and kissed my hand before leaving to get us both a drink. I took in the beautiful starlit night. The doors opened behind me, before they fell closed again, quieting the music. I smiled and hid a blush. However the smile melted when they started talking.
“You look stunning, like always.”
I whipped around and backed away from James. I didn’t think about this.
“What do you want, James?” “Please, can we talk? I just-” “Okay I'll talk.” “Wait, really?” “You're going to haunt me until I do, so I'll talk.” James nodded and cleared his throat before speaking: “I really am sorry for hurting you. I know I’ve been an absolute idiot and I hope one day we can be friends again.”
I turned away. Trying to collect my thoughts. Friends... James and I? Could we ever be just friends? James leaned against the wall where Regulus stood moments before.
“You broke my heart, James. You’re asking me to be friends one day, but I can barely look at you.” “I’m sorry.” “You say that, yet you act like somehow this is all my fault.” “What? It never was.” “I’ve been going over everything in my head, what did I do wrong?” Tears were welling up as a sob escaped, “I can’t breathe.” “Nothing, absolutely nothing, darling. I’m here.”
He stroked away the few tears that spilled and hushed me. He was close to my face and for a second it felt like he leaned in. I pushed him away and back up.
“What were you doing!?” I asked. “Nothing.” “Nothing? You were about to kiss me!”
James couldn’t say anything. I was freaking out and wanted to get away from him. He grabbed my wrist, begging me to stay.
“Darling-” “DON’T!” “Please, listen.” “Hey!”
James let my arm go and I ran towards Regulus and Sirius. Regulus held me in a tight hug. Lily, Remus and Peter went over to James to see if he was okay. Sirius and Regulus took me to the courtyard and I felt like shutting everyone out. Regulus and Sirius were whisper yelling. Regulus was the first to raise to a normal volume.
“Look at her. This is on you.”  “Yes, cause I’m the guy continuously breaking her heart.”
I focussed my energy on the corsage.
“You two know I can hear you right?”
“Si James n’arrête pas, je lui jetterai un mauvais sort!”  “Calme-toi. Tu ne vas pas faire ça.” “Regarde moi.”
I looked at them with a questioning look. Sirius whispered something and left.
“Where is he going?” “Don’t worry about it. How are you?” “The guy that broke my heart kissing my best friend, well now ex best friend cause none of them are talking to me, just tried to kiss me... So it’s going fabulously.”
Regulus chuckled and put his arm around me. I sighed and put my head on his shoulder.
“Thanks for being here with me.” “Don’t worry about it, my lioness. I’m not going anywhere.”
Regulus walked me to the Gryffindor common room. I sighed and turned to him.
“I’ll always be your friend, lioness. So drama, no drama, food, no food, you can always let me know when you want to hang out okay?” “You’re a terrible friend.” “I’m the best friend.” “Me hanging out with no snacks? What are you on about.”
Regulus laughed as I said the password. Regulus waved and made his way to the dungeon. I walked in and saw James sitting in the common room. I could hear Sirius, Remus and Peter chattering in the distance. He stood up and turned to me, but he never moved forward.
“You know, James, I will probably never truly stop loving you, because you were the one I thought I’d spend the rest of my life with. When you fell for Lily I was heartbroken. I thought I was beyond repair, but I realize now that for you the grass will always be greener on the other side.”
At least that’s what I wish I said. I looked down and walked to my room. I slid down the door and held back some more tears. I took a deep breath and turned in for the night. From that moment on I decided that HE wouldn’t be part of my life.
“Lioness, over here!” Regulus smiled. “Give me just a second!”
James was giving the team a last speech. I tapped Marlene’s shoulder. She turned to me but looked like she regretted it.
“Good luck handshake?” “I’m still mad at you.” “Come on we’ve done it since the first match you played.” “It’s nonsense.” She scoffed, but I didn’t move and gave her a look, “But why risk it.”
Marlene and I did our little handshake and I joined Regulus and Pandora. I couldn’t wait for the Quidditch Finale. Regulus looked at me. I looked back questioning, but he didn’t say anything.
“What?” “Are you okay?” “I will be.” I smiled.
Lovers are strangers who can become friends, who fall in love, who burn for each other and who become strangers with memories. I will be fine and one day it won’t hurt anymore. It might not be today. It might not be tomorrow, but some day.
-----
A rough translation for the French lines (My French is a bit rusty + this isn’t exactly what you learn at school)  “If James doesn’t stop, I’ll hex him.” “Calm down. You’re not going to do that.” “Watch me.”

Hope you enjoyed!

“Prongs!” I cheered as he entered the common room. “Hey, darling.” He greeted, whilst picking me up from my place and putting me back down on his lap.
The other boys claimed their spot in the other couch, well Remus and Peter claimed a spot, Sirius basically draped himself over the two boys. I chuckled. James kissed my neck and I blushed. Sirius rolled his eyes.
”Don’t roll too far back, or you’ll see your brain.” Remus joked.
We started talking about our next mischievous plan. Remus was saying how his Prefect rounds didn’t make it possible to do it tonight.
“Oh that reminds me! The Hufflepuffs are holding a party in their common room tomorrow and I thought we could go together!” “The Hufflepuffs?” “Yeah! I have this new outfit, you’ll love it!” “We’re invited too, right?” Sirius smirked.
I smiled at the other marauders and pretended to think about it. Sirius had these big puppy eyes.
“Of course, Sirius! I can invite anyone I want as long as they don’t snitch.” “This is why we like you!”
I threw a pillow at Sirius and let out the giggles James loves. His arms around me tightened and he buried his face in my shoulder and I intertwined our fingers.

"Prongs!" I cheered as he entered the common room. "Hey, darling." He greeted, whilst picking me up from my place and putting me back down on his lap.
"Oh that reminds me! The Hufflepuffs are holding a party in their common room tomorrow and I thought we could go together!" "The Hufflepuffs?" "Yeah! I have this new outfit, you'll love it!" "We're invited too, right?" Sirius smirked.
I smiled at the other marauders and pretended to think about it. Sirius had these big puppy eyes.
"Of course, Sirius! I can invite anyone I want as long as they don’t snitch." "This is why we like you!"
I threw a pillow at Sirius and let out the giggles James loves. His arms around me tightened and he buried his face in my shoulder and I intertwined our fingers.
"So what are the messers up to now?" "Changing the world!" Peter smiled. “Something simple. I see”
We laughed at Remus’ response. Peter was the dreamer of the group. I gazed at James and felt my cheeks go red when he smiled back. I giggled and bit my lip.
"I wouldn't want to change anything. I've got James, I've got my boys and we can face anything." "Of course we can. Together we can move mountains." “Nothing can break us up, ain’t that right, Mooney.”
Remus smiled and looked at his friends. He nodded and ruffled Padfoot’s hair. The common room was quiet, so we decided to go back to planning our next strike.
“No way! That’s not going to work, we’ll have detention till the end of times.” “Oh come on! Minnie deserves at least one.” “Sirius, no.” “Sirius, yes.”
The door pulled my attention to it as it opened. Lily walked in, hugging her books tight. I spotted the redhead.
"Lily! Come join us!" "I'm alright... I-I I'm going to go to bed, I think."
Something inside me was not happy with that response. I looked around to find a clock. Lily walked to our room. I was worried and James noticed.
”Hey, you okay?” "I'll see you tomorrow, my handsome Stag." "I'll see you tomorrow."
I pecked his beautiful lips and ran after Lily. I was catching up with her and heard troubled breathing and some sobs.
"Lily?"
She tried to wipe away the tears, but I hugged her tight. Lily hugged back even tighter, like I would vanish if she let go. I guided her to our dorm and sat her on my bed with a blanket, some music and of course some warm hugs.  After a while of talking about random stuff, Lily started to laugh again.
"Sorry for my breakdown but I just couldn't take it anymore." "It's okay. It can all be a bit much. I’m here if you want to talk." "No. Although... There is something you should know..."
I looked at Lily, silently waiting for her to talk about it, but our moment got interrupted by a knock on the door. Lily sunk into the blanket and hid her face in her hands. I wanted to go to her, but there was another knock.
“Alright, Merlin, be patient.” “It’s me, Remus.”
I opened the door.
"Hey, Remus!" "I came to check up on Lily."
I looked over my shoulder and Lily nodded. She got out of her cocoon and crashed into his chest. He hugged her tight.
"What would I do without you two?" "You'll never have to find out," I smiled. "So, Remus, you and Sirius any progress?"
Lily changed the subject and we talked for hours about him and Sirius. They were so cute. Sirius was oblivious though. The next day was over so quickly. James and I were going to meet up just outside the Hufflepuff common room. I put on my new outfit and gazed at my reflexion. Lily was looking at the floor. I took out one of my most expensive dresses and threw it at her.
“Get dressed, we’re going to the party.” “No, you can’t make me.” “Wanna see me try.”
I chased her around the room and hugged her tight. She screamed out her laughter. Her hair tickling my skin. She pleaded for freedom and we laughed while getting her ready for the party. We were looking at our reflections once more.
"You look wonderful, Lily. Let’s just forget everything for one night." "I can't believe I agreed to this," She sighed. "Come on. It'll be fun and we're not alone we've got Marlene, Dorcas, Alice, Mary, Frank AND the marauders joining us. It'll be fun!"
Lily chuckled and agreed. We first met up with the girls in the common room before going to the kitchens where the boys would be waiting. We came into their view and they all looked at us in awe. James looked at Lily first, before looking at me. I pushed down a venomous look that lurked in my veins.
"Wow, you look gorgeous, my love." James commented. "Thanks," "All the ladies look stunning," Sirius laughed, "Careful, Prongs or you'll lose your lady tonight to someone else."
I rolled my eyes and opened the note I got from my Hufflepuff friend: 'The barrel two from the bottom, middle of the second row, will open if tapped in the rhythm of 'Helga Hufflepuff'.' I followed the instruction and soon music filled our ears. I held the door open for my friends. James smiled and pulled me to dance with him. Peter asked Lily to dance and of course Sirius and Remus were dancing.  I had never had so much fun. My voice turned raspy and I was able to speak to friends from other houses. My stomach hurt from all the laughing, or perhaps the firewhisky. It was feeling quite late, so I decided to look for my boyfriend. I climbed on a table, to get an advantage point, but someone pulled me off. I crashed into the poor soul. Marlene was lying under me laughing uncontrollably. I grabbed someone’s extended hand.
”Hey are you okay?” "Pads!" I shouted over the music and hugged him, "I can't find James." "Sit down, I'll go look for him, stay with Mooney, he's had a few too many."
Sirius seemed surprisingly sober. I nodded and flopped onto Remus’ lap. He was talking about Sirius non stop and that I wasn’t allowed to tell Lily and myself that they kissed. I sobered up from that fact.
“WHAT?”
Remus nearly passed out, but one of his favourite songs came on. He wanted to dance, but I could barely keep him on his feet. Sirius pushed his way through the crowd and waved at me to get my attention. Remus basically fell in his arms. I tried to control my laughter.
"I couldn’t find Prongs, but I found Peter. Apparently, he wasn't feeling well and Lily brought him to our dorm." "Thanks! Let's get Mooney there too, then I can check up on James while we’re there."
Sirius agreed as we supported Remus. It was quite the adventure sneaking up the many, many stairs with a drunk, and not to mention, humming Remus.
"Can you.. Jesus, don’t fall.. go open the door? I've got him," I grunted, whist readjusting Remus’ arm. “You sure? Don't drop him." "I won't. Just move faster."
Sirius opened the door but has never closed a door so quickly in his life.
"Sirius? Are you okay?" "Maybe we... Maybe the common room is a uh a good place to put Mooney for the night." "What has gotten into you? I'm not going to bring him back to the common room. We’re right at the door." "It's James he's uh very sick, yeah wouldn't want you to catch it."
He was a terrible liar. I felt my heart ache as tears threatened to spill. Sirius must’ve noticed them, because he averted his gaze. I took a deep breath, maybe this was all in my head.
"Sirius, let me in the room." My voice was soft, but stern. "Please, no."
Sirius was pleading me not to open the door, but I pushed Remus into his arms, before barging into the dorm room. I couldn't believe my eyes. Lily and James were in a rush to get dressed properly again. My heart shattered. I couldn’t shout or be angry. Tears rolled over my eyes.
"Y/N, darling, it is not what it looks like," James tried.
I scoffed and was puzzling together all the hints. The glances, the signs everything made sense now.
"Please."
James grabbed my arm. I yanked it back and smacked him across the face.
"Stay away from me!"
Everyone was quiet and stared at me. I could feel my sadness and anger mix. I wanted to scream and shout. I wanted to fall to my knees and cry but most of all I didn’t want to see either of them.
"Y/N, I-"  "Don’t bother, Lily. My boyfriend and my best friend, talk about a cliché..." "I-" "Whatever you say won't change anything. We're done."
I stormed out of the room. Sirius had placed down Remus and tucked him in. He then proceeded to look for the map. Lily sunk to her knees embarrassed. She covered up and also left. James finally grasped what had happened.
"Pads, I-" "Not now, prongs," Sirius sighed, "I solemnly swear that I'm up to no good.... Got you."
Sirius ran out of there and made his way to me. I tried to hide in the Astronomy tower. It was the highest one and no one was here. I sobbed and tried to catch my breath as the images of them together flooded my brain.
"Mischief managed." "Go away, Sirius." I sniffled. "No. You need a friend."
Sirius sat next to me and pulled me in the tightest hug ever. Every effort to conceal my pain melted away. I cried for hours on end. Sirius just held me, drawing circles on my back. The sun crept over the horizon. I started to run out of tears, just violent sobs as I tried to regain control of my breath. Black held out a handkerchief. I softly chuckled and accepted it.
"Thanks, Sirius for staying with me all night." "Anytime. You are not alone here." "It feels like it... I just can't believe they would do that to me." "I'm sure they had a reason." I stood up and sighed: "I don't need excuses. I want to get out of this place." "We could go for an early walk." "I need to get changed. This isn’t exactly the best thing to wear during the day." "I'll walk you." "The girls might still be asleep, if I’m lucky. You should probably go to Remus. He's going to need you after tonight." "I'll go check up on Remus, you change and I'll come get you for a walk. Deal?" "Alright."
Sirius placed his jacket around my shoulders, as we walked back to the common room. He reclaimed his jacket before we went our separate way. Sirius sprinted back to his dorm. He slowed down when raised voices reached his ears. He pushed open the door to a raging Remus being held back by a worried looking Peter. James stood there no reaction just looking at the ground.
"Padfoot, a little help please!" "Prongs, what did you tell him?" "I told him... I messed up. Merlin I messed up. I broke her heart." His blank stare never left the floor. "How could you kiss another woman!?" "Wormtail, let him go. Mooney, you're not going to punch him." "Watch me." he scoffed. "Prongs, you're my brother and I will always be your friend, but hurting Y/n by kissing Lily... that's beyond cruel." Sirius sighed. "Lily!?" Remus shouted. "Mooney I'm sorry! I was drunk. I like Lily and I like Y/n."
Remus punched James square in the face. He hissed at the pain caused in his own hand, whilst James grabbed his jaw.
"Mooney!".
Remus looked at Sirius and knew the consequences. He rolled his eyes and sat on the bed. Peter helped James up.
"I'm okay, I deserved that." "Yeah. You did." Remus grumbled. "How is she?" "She'll live... Have you talked to Lily?" "Uh no. Lily ran off. I tried to find you and Y/N, but failed and I uh cried all night."
Sirius sighed. He hated being in the middle of this.
"We're going to not kill each other. We're going to fix this somehow." "Why should we?" "Because Mooney if it was me, or Wormtail, or you, then Prongs would help us." "He cheated on her. The guy who values loyalty and love, cheated on her." "I know this is bad okay? I was with her until she couldn’t cry anymore. So we’re going to find a way that they get to a point of talking again."
The boys looked at each other, knowing Sirius was right.
"Okay, now tell us how long this has been going on and no more lies. If you lie I will hex you into oblivion." Sirius sighed, leaning against the door. "I started flirting with Lily... 2 weeks ago. Nothing happened, but yesterday at I was drunk and Lily was as well and I flirted so we came here and I almost made the worst mistake of my life.” "Arguably you did." Remus mumbled under his breath.
Sirius gave him the look. Remus just crossed his arms and looked away.
“I just want to talk to her, tell her I’m sorry." "You should." Peter suggested. "She probably won't listen..." James sighed.
Meanwhile
I snuck into my room, but Lily was right there her focus aimed at the door. Her puffy eyes betrayed her crying. Marlene, Dorcas and Mary were sound asleep. I ignored Lily and opened my suitcase, searching for some comfy clothes.
"Please, you have to listen to me.” “I don’t have to do anything for you, Lily. You lost that right when you were going to hook up with my partner.” “Urgh! Look, I regret what happened. I never meant to hurt you! Don’t you get that?" “What I don’t get is you kissing James!” “I didn’t mean for it to happen!” “Really? Or you just hoped I would never found out, right!?” “What? That is ridiculous! You are being so unreasonable!” “Am I? Last night wasn’t the first time was it? You were going to tell me Thursday that he’s been flirting with you, right?”
Her silence gave me enough proof that I was right. I groaned and tossed my stuff into my suitcase. I couldn’t look at her.
“I can’t believe it. You are... were my friend.” “Fine! Yes, James flirted with me, but I never responded to it! Last night was just a mistake.” “When your friend’s boyfriend flirts with them you tell your friend! Anyway I don’t want to talk to you... I hope he was worth it.” “What’s going on?” Marlene groaned and pushed herself onto her elbows.
I whipped around and left towards the bathroom, slamming the door shut behind me.
“Open the goddamn door!” “Leave me alone!” “You are insufferable! You never listen!” “Why is there yelling this early?”
I heard Marlene and Lily talk. I just sat on the bathroom floor trying my best not to start crying again. There was a knock on the door.
“Let me in.” “No, Marlene.” “You have to.” “I don’t want to see anyone, just leave me alone.” “I’ve got to go.”
I quickly changed and opened the door. Marlene pushed Lily in there with me and held the door closed. I tried opening it, but it didn’t work. Lily was standing at the other side of the small room. I hugged my body and slid down the door. Lily stood there. The tension was high. Time ticked by, I could hear Hogwarts waking up.
“Is there anyway I can make it up to you?” “I’m not talking to you.” “We’re stuck here till you do, so let’s both make an effort to get somewhere.”
I rolled my eyes.
“I would rather die.” “Why are you mad at me? James is the one who cheated on you.” “WITH YOU!” “How is that my fault?”
I shoved Lily against the wall. Her yelp made me realise what I did and I let her go. I felt horrible and mumbled a stream of apologies. Lily was bleeding. I tried to stop it.
“MARLS!” I cried out.
Marlene took Lily to madame Pomfrey. I sat next to her bed, but didn’t move or react. I couldn’t. Marlene’s voice was there, but I didn’t process a single thing that she uttered. I messed up. Marlene decided to bring me some clothes and a blanket so I could stay next to Lily. Remus, Sirius and James knocked on the door, but only saw Marlene.
“It took you all 2 days to come and say hi to the two people you broke?” “Marls, where are they?” “I don’t need to tell you Sirius.” “Marlene, please it’s important.”
Marlene stopped the packing and turned to the boys contemplating her next witty response, but none came out. She looked at the ground and turned back to the bag.
“They’re in the hospital wing. Lily got hurt when I forced the two of them to talk. Lily will be fine, just needs rest but I can’t get through to the one you broke. She was freaking out when she realised she hurt Lily and has not moved since. So whatever you have to say to her or Lily will have to wait.” “I’m going to the hospital wing.” “Remus, no.”
Remus ignored the elder boy and picked up his pace. He saw me and pulled me in a hug, but trying to move me spooked me and I started screaming and crying. Remus whispered reassuring words in my ears and held me close.
“It’s all my fault.” “It’s not on you, Y/n” “I hurt Lily, I never meant to do so. I was angry. I didn’t mean for any of this to happen.”
Remus just held me closer and I cried in his shoulder. I told him how I could’ve killed the one that saw me and the one that held me during nights of terror. Remus drew circles on my back. James walked in and went to Lily. I just stared at the ground. Remus’ muscles tensed around me. Voices around me passed over my head. I’m pretty sure Marlene had rejoined us, but I wasn’t sure. I started looking around again. I don’t know how long had past, but at that time I decided I would disappear into the wall. I stood up and walked out, not saying anything to anyone. They were all stunned. I hid in the shrieking shack since then. There wasn’t really a way for me to keep track of time so I didn’t.
“Still no sign of her?” Sirius asked his boyfriend. “Nothing.” “You guys too?” Marlene sighed. “She can’t just vanish of the surface.” “Who disappeared of the surface, Mister Pettigrew.”
The four Gryffindors were deer in headlights. They definitely didn’t expect McGonagall to find out like this.
“Y/N, she hasn’t been here for 4 days. We don’t know where she is.” “A student missing? None of you thought to inform me?”
They looked to the ground. Sirius stepped forward, with the gaze of the others following him.
“It was my idea, Professor, we thought we could find her. We’re getting worried. I don’t think she’s doing okay.” “We’ll find her, Mister Black.”
Sirius nodded and turned back to his friends. Marlene hugged him. The group was send to the common room for the day, whilst the teachers took over the search. I was in my room packing my things. I had James’ invisibility cloak. I heard voices so I hid. Lily barged through the door. James not far behind her.
“Lily, I know I made mistakes, but you have to know I burn for you.” “You burn for me? How can I trust you ever? You cheated on my best, with me. I lost her because of you, because I can’t seem to stay away from you.” “You’re as much at fault here.”
Lily slapped him across the face.
“HOW DARE YOU?” “Lily, I... I’m sorry.” He sunk onto her bed and let some tears escape, “I hurt someone I cared for in a way I despise. I don’t even know who I am anymore.”
Lily sat next to him.
“James?” “Maybe you’re right. Maybe... I’m not worth it.” “James don’t say that.” “When I was with her I thought nothing would ever pull me from her, nothing. She was THE one, you know that feeling?” Lily shook her head, “It’s like you can move mountains and you can do anything, but after a year. I felt like I changed. She was still wonderful and I could’ve happily stayed with her, but I wanted adventures, while she wanted long nights in the couch snuggling. I wasn’t what she deserves. She deserves so much more, but hanging out with you sparked that sense of adventure again. I handled it poorly, but I promise you, nothing like that will ever happen again. I’m burning to know what you want, where we go next where our hearts take us next. I need you, Lily.”
I had never seen him this vulnerable.
“I’m yours Lily. Only yours.” “I’ve always been yours.”
James leaned in. I cleared my throat. The duo jumped apart. I took off the cloak.
“Before I had to watch that.”
Lily hugged me tight. I chuckled and held her close.
“Where have you been!?” “Doesn’t matter.”
James was still on the bed letting his tears fall.
I took a deep breath: “I forgive you. Can you forgive me?” “For what?” Lily questioned. “I hurt you and I stole your invisibility cloak.”
James chuckled through the tears and accepted the cloak.
“You have nothing to be sorry for.” “Well not to us anyway. We’ll just call it even.”  “How mad do you think Sirius will be?” “Marlene is the one you should be worried about.”
I laughed and held Lily close.
“Well I’ll leave you two alone now. We’ll be fine, but now I need to make up to some other people.”
Lily hugged me one last time and I walked down. Remus froze when he saw me.
“It can’t be.” “It is.”
Sirius whipped around, climbed over the couch and hugged me closer than anyone had ever done.
“Don’t do that again.” “I won’t.”
Marlene followed.
“Marls, I missed you.” “You owe me an explanation. Where did you come from?” “I saw James and Lily, uh.. We’ll be fine.” Tears welled up in my eyes. “Hey if you-” “I’m okay, thanks. They should be happy. It’s how it was supposed to be.”
Everyone stood around me thinking what the next step should be.
“How about we celebrate your return? Three broomsticks, my treat.” Peter suggested. “Now that I’ll do.” I pushed past the concerned faces and followed Peter.
Remus walked up to me, but before he could I ran off. Remus started the chase and tickled me once he caught up. Sirius and Marlene heard my laughter fill the halls. Marlene looked back.
“James is one lucky bastard.” “Yeah, tell me about it.” Sirius laughed. “Pads! Come one!”
Sirius put on his best smile and ran over. I made him jump up and gave him a piggy back ride as our mischievous laughs filled the halls.
“Wait!” Remus laughed once we were halfway to Hogsmeade. “What?” “We didn’t tell Minnie that we found her.”
I laughed even louder and looked at all my friends.
“Honestly what’s the worst that can happen?” “You’d be surprised.” Sirius sighed. “Nothing surprises me anymore.”

Happy Holidays (Marauders x Friend!Reader)
Summary: Short holiday special
Warning: None?
A/N: Happy holiday season!
Masterlist: here
Tumblr media
The trains were frozen over by an insane blizzard, we were all stranded at Hogwarts. The staff tried to cheer up the place, but it was crowded more than usual. My friends and I were hanging out in the great hall by the fire.
“This is boring.” I groaned
Sirius nodded in agreement. I was looking at the minor snowfall illusion above us. I hit James’ arm, which made him snap his head to me. I pointed up and locked my eyes with his.
“You’re a genius.”
“I know.”
I smiled at the others, whipping my wand out. James and I made it snow, for real, in the great Hall. We decided to throw Snowballs to each other.
I walked to the Slytherin’s table who were looking at us like we were peasants.
“Please play along. You can make a ball and throw it at the Gryffindors if you want to, see like this.”
I aimed at James and threw it at him. It hit him square in the face, making all the Slytherins laugh. Soon everyone joined in laughing and playing. I was having an intense battle with James and Sirius, while Peter backed me up. Remus was defending our groups for others since this was out fight. Sirius jumped me and I landed in the cold snow pinning my hands down. I was screaming with laughter as the boys were basically making me into a snowman. Peter pushed Sirius off of me and helped me up. I was laughing and made new ammunition to continue this war. However the hall was brought to order by Dumbledore and a deafening silence fell upon us. He looked at James and myself. I dropped the snowball as I felt detention creep up on me. Minerva escorted the pair of us to her office as professors cleaned up our mess. I felt James’ hand on my shoulder, but shrugged it off. He tried reassuring we did the right thing, but my heart felt different. The door closed behind us.
My head finally dared to tilt towards James, who looked cold. The silence from the professor pulled my attention to her. She was waiting for me.
“Tea?” Professor McGonagall offered.
“Yes, please.”
"No, thank you, Professor."
She made the tea in silence. James had inched over towards the fire before breaking the silence again.
James hummed in agreement. His hand wrapped around my arm, pulling me closer to the heat. I let the radiant heat warm up the blood in my veins.
"Are we in trouble, Professor?"
"I have not yet decided."
"I'm not sure I follow, Professor."
“Dumbledore wants me to give both of you detention to set an example, but I am not quite sure I will follow that order. It is obvious that this behaviour is inacceptable. However. I have never seen so many smiling children in The Great Hall.”
My lips curled upwards. My shoulders dropped and I finally unclenched my jaw.
“James and I apologize for causing a fuzz. We did it to lighten the mood. We promise we had no hidden agenda.”
James looked like he was going to protest but I looked at him. He averted his eyes and closed his mouth. McGonagall handed James a cup of tea and sat down.
"I will let both of you go with a warning for now. However if I hear complaints about either of you then I will make the detention worse and I will double it’s length. Am I clear?” “Crystal clear, Professor.” “Now, both of you dismissed.” “Before we let you enjoy your holidays, me and the guys wanted to give you something as a thank you for being an amazing teacher.”
I transfigured it onto her desk and waited. James looked confused.
“A gift for me?” “Yes, with help from Madam Pomfrey. Merry Christmas, Professor.”
McGonagall took apart the wrapping without tearing it. A handcrafted chessboard revealed itself. Her hand shot to her mouth and I spotted a smile.
“Happy holidays, my dear.” “You’re welcome.”
James and I left her office and walked to the common room. James looked like he was thinking.
“Hey Prongs talk to me.” “I didn’t want to say anything.” “You’re a horrible liar.” “Excuse you, I’ve lied to you 3 times and got away with it.” “Yeah Remus being a Mooney isn’t a secret. So two. I just like you to believe you’re better at lying than you are.” “You’re evil.” “Well it’s in my nature to perserve your best quality.”
James crossed his arms and stopped.
“Okay. Why did you give Minnie a gift, but not us.” “You’re being dramatic.” “Am I?” “Yes, did you honestly think your favourite person would forget presents for their best friends?”
James nodded. I rolled my eyes and continued moving. I started to explain to the chaser that I heard her and madam Pomfrey talking about needing new chess pieces, that night I stayed besides a wounded Remus. James followed and started to understand.
“Caput Draconis.”
I stepped in first and was greeted with the buzzing common room. Voices of friendship, cheers of laughter and mischievous murmurs filled the air.
“That snowball fight might’ve been our greatest hit so far.” Sirius boasted. “It was great.”
I flopped down between Remus and Peter. We all recounted past tales and pranks. Our laughing overflowed the common room as students went to bed. I transfigured my gifts onto the coffee table and started with James’. He tore the wrapping off and frowned when he saw it was women’s perfume.
“Not to be mean, but give it to Lily.” “Why?” “Your original gift wasn’t great.”
James rolled his eyes, but followed my instructions. She looked up and gasped at seeing the present. Sirius and I were watching closely.
“Thanks, Potter. This is and amazing gift.”
We were preparing for another failed date question.
“Would you like to go to Hogsmeade tomorrow?” “You’re asking me out?” James stammered. “One time offer.” “Yes, of course.”
Sirius and I were baffled. They agreed a time and the redhead gave the chaser a kiss on the cheek. Her group pulled her to the room. We waited for the giggling to fade before running to James and catching him. He was weak in the knees. Sirius dropped him in the couch as I gave Peter and Remus their gift. Peter was careful with the wrapping not wanting to rush it, while Remus was anxiously tearing through the wrapping.
“A notebook?” Remus questioned. “Not just A notebook,” I grinned, “Open it.”
Remus started flicking through the pages and started reading all of it. He straight up tuned everyone out. Peter had opened his and was stunned by the huge box of muggle and wizarding treats. Sirius started to impatiently bounce up and down with excitement.
“Calm down, padfoot. I didn’t forget you.”
Sirius looked at the two boxes and a card. Everyone looked in suspense. I made him open the card and the smallest box first.
‘I’m proud of you, mon frère.’
Sirius had tears forming in his eyes. the wrapping left the box in a blink of an eye. It was a watch, just like his brother had one. He smiled and held it closer.
“This is and amazing gift! Thank you.” “That’s all Regulus, not me. This is mine.”
Sirius opened my gift and saw a brand new leather jacket. He enjoyed his gift and put it on to show of his amazing looks.
“Happy holidays. Our gift is a bit more special. Also because we came up with it 5 minutes ago.” Remus nudged Sirius in the ribs, “I mean we planned this.” “Our love, would you want to be an official part of our group?” “I thought I already was?”
James took out a piece of parchment and tapped it with his wand.
“I solemnly swear I am up to no good.”
The castle grounds grew visible. I looked at it in awe. The others gathered around me.
“It’s our greatest achievement.” “Of course I’ll join you guys!”
A mischievous grin grew upon their faces.
“Mischief Managed.”

Study buddy (Remus x Female!Slytherin!Reader)
Summary: Remus had a slytherin study friend. who he had a slight crush on.
Warnings: Toxic relationship, threats cheating, making out, jealousy, ...
Masterlist: here
Tumblr media
"Hey, Remus," I smiled and sat down next to him. "Hey, Green" "Thanks for helping me out with Transfiguration. I really can't afford to flunk the test. My parents will kill me." "Anytime. Although James is probably better at this than me." “My friends tolerate you, besides James is too self-involved to care about my grades.”
Remus smiled and opened his textbook. The mischievous boys and I were cool when it was just me. They didn't like the group I hung out with though, but the Slytherin’s were my family. Remus and I were laughing when Bellatrix came in. She hated them.
"Hey, Trix." I smiled.
"Can we talk?" "I know when I'm not wanted around. I'll see you in Transfiguration, Y/n." "See ya, Remus."
Bellatrix and I talked about Purebloods and how I should stop hanging out with Remus, but I defended Remus. He was my friend. She didn't understand and begrudgingly gave up. I gathered my stuff and walked to the common room with her talking about the OWLS. We turned the last corner and saw Remus pointing his wand at Lucius, my boyfriend, who was defenceless.
"Remus J. Lupin! You better not hex my boyfriend." "But-" "He attacked me out of nowhere!" Lucius said.
Bellatrix and I pointed our wands at him, but he wasn’t backing down. I lowered my wand and inched closer to him, shoulders slumped.
"Remus, I... I think it's better if we stay away from each other. Thank you for the help with transfiguration, but after you did this, I don’t need it anymore."
Remus looked at me for the first time and backed down. I looked into his eyes and noticed something shift. We were staring at each other in silence. Bellatrix and then Lucius pulled me to the common room. Lucius told me how Remus told him he, Remus, loved me and how he would hex him, Lucius, so I would choose Remus over Lucius. I just sat there and let words fill my brain. I couldn't believe Remus would do that, but I trusted Lucius, I think. He was the one I was supposed to marry after all. I decided that the best thing now was to avoid Remus. In our mutual classes, he would look at me with a begging look in his eyes. I stopped looking his direction, but I felt the gaze burn into my back. Severus kept telling me they were bullies anyway. I brushed it off at first, but it didn’t feel right. I needed to hear his side. I knew what my friends were like. After my class I spotted Sirius. The note in my hand made me anxious so I clutched it tighter. I excused myself and split off from my group. I jogged towards Sirius. He rose up from his seat. I pulled him behind the corner so they wouldn't see. I hugged him tightly.
"Hey, better Black." "Y/N?"
I my arms slid back to their usual position over my body. He let his had slide to my free hand. A few questions followed, but I dodged them all.
"I need you to give this to Remus, please. I don't have long. Help a green out?" "For you? Of course." Sirius sighed
I smiled and kissed his cheek.
"You're my hero, Sirius."
With that, I dashed back to my friends.
"What was that about, babe?" "I gave him my part of the potions paper so he can give it to Remus. That way we don’t have to see each other." "Great I don't want you around them." "Anything for you, dear." "Hey, Luci." "Hey, Cissa." He smiled so bright when he saw her.
I felt myself turn green with jealousy. Could she be more annoying?
"Careful. Looks can kill." She smirked. "Y/N, behave she's valued in our family." "Sorry, dear." "You will be," Lucius said.
Lucius threatened me often, but never actually hurt me. Sirius unfroze from the encounter and slowly glided his gaze over the note. The urge to find out why his friend looked terrified overwhelmed him.
'11 tonight room of requirements. We need to talk. I depend on it.'
Sirius bolted his way up the stairs, dodging younger students, nearly bumping into Filch, who shouted after him, but all he got back was a quick apology. He barged into the dorm.
"Padfoot, are you okay?" James asked.
He took many breaths and handed Remus the note.
"What?" Remus looked at it, "Who is this from." ”Green, she gave it to me to give to you.” "What if it's a trap?" James asked. "Prongs, last time she talked to me, she told me to stay away. This is what I need." "Why?" "I was going to hex Lucius for cheating on her." "Blondie did what now?" "I caught him snogging Narcissa." "This gets better and better," Sirius groaned. "I didn't tell anyone cause I didn't want to hurt her, however now she wants to talk. I can explain it to her." "What if they are up to something?"
James always was the cautious type around Slytherins he didn’t trust them.
"You didn't see the way she looked at me, Prongs. She looked scared and worried. She also said she didn't have much time. I know Y/N. She wouldn't prank us. She's our friend." "Urgh, fine! I hope you're right." "You could follow in the invisibility cloak," Remus suggested, "If it is an ambush we'll be ready. I might be on my own in the room, but I won't risk losing her again. I need her." "Do I sense a crush?" Sirius smirked. "Shut up, Padfoot."
Remus was blushing. I watched the time tick by on the clock in the common room. Lucius was asleep on the couch. Nearly eleven. I stood up and tried to slip out.
"Where do you think you're going?" Lucius asked while yawning. "I need some air, I don't feel too great. Might go to Madam Pomfrey." "I'll accompany you." He suggested putting on his sweater. "No, please. I wouldn't want you to catch something."
Lucius sighed and walked over. His hand rested next to my face as he trapped me between the door and his muscular body. My hands started to get sweaty and shaking. I hid them.
"You better not be lying. You know what we do to liars." "Yes, my dear."
I hurried out of the room and entered the Room of Requirements. I took a deep breath and started pacing back and forth. Remus walked in not much later. I ran to him and hugged him tightly.
"Y/N," he sounded like he finally could breathe.
The way he said my name made my heart skip a beat. We both didn't want to let go.
"I would never hurt Lucius without a reason. Please, believe me." "I think I believe you. That's why I came here. Why did you do it?"
Remus sat down and sighed.
"Please." "He cheated on you." "No that's not possible, we're meant to get married one day why would he do that?" "I don't know why he did it, Y/N. I'm sorry. I didn't want to tell you to spare you, but you deserve to know the truth." "Who?"
Remus was quiet when he saw the tears stream down.
"Who was it?"
Remus looked at me and mustered up every ounce of courage to tell the truth.
"Narcissa Black."
I stood up and wanted to scream and cry. Remus followed and hugged me tight. I knew it was true because I had a gut feeling, but I didn't want to believe it. Remus drew circles on my back till the tears started to subside
"Lucius says you wanted to hex him so I would chose you." "Of course he did." "Remus do you like me?" "I love you, but you're better far away from me. I'll hurt you." "What do you mean?" "Y/N, I'm dangerous." "No, you're not." "I'm a werewolf," Remus confessed.
I stroked his cheek softly and smiled through the tears.
"Like I said: Not dangerous."
Remus leaned down to kiss you when there were multiple knocks on the door.
"Mooney, time to go." "Sirius?" "They don't trust your gang. They insisted on keeping watch." "It's okay." "Come with us. We'll protect you."
I doubted, but agreed since I had nowhere left to go. I walked out with Remus. James and Sirius were there under a cloak that made them invisible. My jaw dropped. The hallows are real?
"Protect her." “They’re coming quickly. Peter ratted them out to us.”
James made a spot next to him and I hid. Sirius and Remus were exposed when Lucius walked around the corner.
"Lupin. You. I am looking for my girlfriend, she lied to me." "Like you lied to her about what happened between you and my cousin?" Sirius growled. "Narcissa is simply better." "I don't know where she is," Remus lied, whilst making Sirius stand down. "Then what are you doing up, getting caught." "It is my duty as prefect to bring lost souls back to their dorm." "I could force it out of you. Learned a few tricks." "Try us, Malfoy, two versus you. Seems rather unfair" "Did you honestly think that I came alone?"
Narcissa and Bellatrix stood there. I wanted to intervene, but James stopped me. Remus and Sirius smirked at each other, wands ready.
"I'll ask you again, Lupin. Where is my worthless girlfriend?" "The worthless one? Next to you, how could you miss my cousin." Sirius remarked.
Remus laughed and spells started flying back and forth. I used Reducio to shrink myself, I repositioned myself behind the group and used Engorgio behind the group. I silenced Bellatrix. Her wand left her hand as she reached for her throat trying to talk.
"I'll tell her what you did, when I see her." "How? She won't believe you. She is promised to me. She will obey her husband. Besides I liked kissing Narcissa, she was much better." "Then marry her instead, Malfoy, but you stay away from me!"
Tears streaming down my cheeks.
"Darling-" "Don't even start." I hissed.
His demeanour changed. I recognised the anger in his eyes. I stepped back and felt a hand wrap around my arm. It pulled me away from Lucius.
"You useless-" "Shut it, Malfoy. She'll stay with us." Sirius said.
I stood between my two heroes. Remus held me close. The Gryffindor boys brought me to their dorm and I collapsed on Remus’ bed. He comforted me, whilst the others went to bed, not knowing what to do. Remus placed me under the covers carefully. I was scared and felt alone, but Remus hugging me and drawing circles on my back calmed me down.
"I'll protect you." "Thank you."
I held him tight. Remus stroked my hair. I yawned and curled closer.
"You should get some sleep." "Please don't go." "I'll be right here on the floor." "I can't make you sleep on the floor."
Remus shrugged his shoulder and laid down. I took his hand and pulled him back to the bed.
"Are you sure?" "I don't want to be alone."
My eyes met his and I could feel his muscles relax. He nodded and laid down with me. I took a deep breath, taking in his scent before falling asleep. The next morning I woke up to whispering.
"I wish I had a camera to take a picture of this. They look good together." "Don't think about it, Black," I groaned. "She awakes."
Remus groaned and hid his face deeper into his pillow. I uncurled my legs and let the cold floor fill me with a bit of energy.
"Here, we took the liberty to collect your stuff from your room."
James held out my bag. The zipper glided open and it was all there. My lips curled upwards. I hugged the chaser tight.
"Thank you." I whispered. "It was Sirius' idea.”
I turned to him. He was already on his way out the door.
“Don’t mention it. I’ll deny everything.”
I took some of the clothes and made them turn around so I could change. The fabric of my cashmere sweater and loose sweatpants never felt better. I tied my hair into a ponytail and checked my reflection.
“Okay you two can look again.”
James and Peter turned around.
“You look good.” “Thanks Peter.”
James nodded and took his quidditch gear before leaving to the field. I took my books and started studying. Remus woke up half a chapter later.
“Good morning.” “Morning, Remus.”
He smiled and leaned over my book. I giggled and tried to stop my cheeks from burning up.
“Transfiguration? Still struggling?” “You know it. Every other course I do with ease, but this one is just annoying me.” “You don’t give yourself credit.” “Just the appropriate amount. I have a reputation to uphold.” “Let me tell you after breakfast we could practice and study together.”
His hand slid through my hair down my neck and fell to my lap. My breathing was quickened for a bit. I nodded and never looked away from his eyes. He brought his lips to my forehead and then stood up. It felt empty without him there. I took a moment to realise what was going on. I turned to him.
“Where are you going now.”
I need a shower. I’d ask if you’d join, but you’re already looking gorgeous. My heart was going faster than a seeker chasing a snitch. Where did this man get the confidence from. I processed his words and wanted to reply but he was already out the door. I couldn’t believe it. Remus later pulled me along to breakfast, but with no further comment on the situation. I stayed quiet during breakfast as I felt the poisonous looks on me. I felt a hand on mine and shot my gaze to theirs. Sirius gave me a reassuring nod. I sighed and turned my attention back to the plate in front of me. Remus stood up and pulled me back to the Gryffindor common room. I sat down and gazed at him. Remus pulled out his book and flicked through the pages.
"Oh when you meant study together, you actually meant study."
Remus hummed and connected our eyes, before letting them fall onto the page before him. I sighed and inched closer. He was reading the lines out loud explaining them to me, however there was only one thing I burned to know.
"Remus...” I waited for him to look me in the eyes, “Kiss me."
Remus pecked my lips and turned back to the book. I laughed, confusing the slender boy in front of me.
"What am I? Some random girl? Remus, really kiss me. You can’t tease me like this morning and not kiss me like you mean it."
Remus sighed and stroked my cheek. Our eyes connected as he leaned in for a passionate kiss. It was like we both had waited for this moment. We got so caught up in the moment that we missed the other three guys walk in. Not until they whistled and tried so hard not to laugh. Remus and I jumped apart and burned up in embarrassment.
“We’ll be studying he said... Prongs I don’t remember having to learn the female anatomy.”  “Come on let’s leave these two kids to it.” James laughed.
I threw a pillow at his head and hid my face. The tranquil atmosphere returned in the common room. I looked at Remus and he looked at me.
“So Transfirguration.” He said. “Yeah.”
We both sat there for a second, unsure what to say. He slipped his hand into mine and continued explaining the course material to me. I gazed at his features and smiled.

Being the second born Potter wasn't easy. He was a gifted wizard. I was average at everything or at least that's what I observed. My brother had the marauders. I had my roommate. But the one thing that hurt the most was Lily Evans. Every guy knew Lily was off the table. She was a goddess. James met her first. He couldn't stop talking about her. For years. I avoided the couple, it was too difficult. James and I had a lot of arguments about this. Sirius sat next to me.
"Hey, Potter, what's with the long face?" "It's nothing, Sirius." "You've been acting weird ever since Prongs and Lily started dating." "Have I?"
Sirius sighed and sat in front of me.
"Listen here, Potter. You can't fool me. So you say the truth now."
"I love Lily. My brother has a goddess and here I am 7 years of crushing on the one person I can't have." "Does Prongs know?" "Don't ask stupid questions. No, he doesn't and he will never know not from me, not from you. You keep this secret to yourself and we just forget it exists." "Forget what exists?" James asked.
I looked like a stag in headlights.
"Nothing, we're just messing around." "Hey, mate you alright?"
Lily sat between me and James.
"Yeah, I'm okay."
Sirius looked at me and nodded his head. I just gave him poisonous looks. James was looking at us while Remus and Lily were reading a book.
"Okay enough, somethings going on here and I need to know what it is," James said. "Just forget it! Everyone... just everyone get off my back." "Y/N, I'm sorry -"
Lily tried to talk but I just had to get out. I walked passed them out of the cart.
"What the fuck was that?" James asked. "What do you mean?" "Lily was being nice to you and you walked out." "What do you want from me?" "I want you to like her. You mean the world to me. So stop being a prick and at least try and be a good brother. I dealt with the Slytherin. Why can't you put effort into liking my girlfriend and very soon, my Fiancée."
Daggers through my heart. I sighed and nodded.
"I'll try." I sighed. "Thanks. You're my brother it means so much to me." "Any day." I smiled.
We walked back and I sat back in my position at the window. Sirius tried to read my expression but I just closed my eyes and dozed off.
"What is your problem?" Lily shouted. "My problem? Where to even start!" "I'm nothing but nice to you." "You chose my brother!" "You never liked me so what does it matter to you."
I kissed Lily and she kissed back. I shot up. This was wrong. I was back on the train and stormed out. This time Sirius followed.
"What the hell happened?" "I had a dream." "Yeah so?" "I kissed Lily in it." "That is bad." "Bad? Padfoot this is beyond bad. If my brother ever discovers that I ever just even dreamed it, he's going to kill me." "Hey. Focus it didn't really happen, snap out of it." "He's going to propose to her." "What?" "He told me earlier. Padfoot what do I do?" "You do what every gentleman would do. Nothing."
I sighed.
"Look we're almost at the train station. You and I will do something fun, get your mind off the situation." "Like what my parents want family dinner at home first." "we'll go out afterwards."
We were sitting around the table. I looked at Sirius. James and Lily were all lovey dovey. My parents mainly focused on them cause he asked her and she said yes.
"Oh isn't that great, Y/n?" "yeah it's fantastic," I smiled, "I'm going to get some more wine."
I got a bottle out of the kitchen and tried not to cry.
"What the hell dude? I thought we had a deal?" "I'm trying." "Try harder." "James I'm pretending the best I can. The only thing left for me is telling her how much I like her. How much I can't stop thinking about her since the moment I laid eyes on her. I am Amortentia levels of crazy about her, but you met her first. You called dibs since the very first year. That's just how this works. James Potter, the star, the favourite. I am nothing!"
I sighed and went to the garden. It all just slipped out. The door opened. I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"I'm sorry..." I sighed. "No I'm sorry."
I looked at James and hugged him.
"You're my brother. I should've known or realised something." "You couldn't I purposefully hid everything. you all think I hate her when all night I've been wondering if she would love breakfast in bed or if she hates food on the bed. I wonder what her lips taste like, but I can never know. I'll be alright. I will move on, at least that's what Sirius said. However if you hurt her I will slap you back to last century and if you don't then I will be the happiest guy on earth cause she ended up with the greatest person in all of existence. My brother." "Hey we'll find someone for you who is your Evans." "Do you honestly believe there are two of her out there?"
James chuckled.
"There has to be cause there are two of us."
I looked at James who was wearing his signature smirk. I pushed him softly and laughed.
"Thank you." "Hey, talk to me, cause that was about so much more than just Lily." "James, you don't have to do this." "I have to look after my brother."
I nodded and looked back to the garden.
“All my life I’ve felt second to you. You’re smart. I’m average. You’re quidditch captain I can not make the team to save my life.” “Stop it. You’re a potter, you’re great at loads of things. You are excelling at Care of magical creatures. I can’t even keep my owl to like me. You are the most loyal and brave person I know and I know Sirius, his patronus is literally a dog.”
We laughed.
“Thanks, but you’re just saying that.” “I’m not. I speak the truth. Like sure I got the quidditch genes, you got the strategic brain just a smidge more then I do. You stop me from being an idiot, you helped me get Lily...” James cleared his throat and turned to the house, “You sacrificed so much for me and I’ve probably done nothing but be an asshole, right?” “Only just a bit.” “You weren’t supposed to agree!”
We laughed and our mother opened the door.
“Is everything okay here?”
I looked at James and he looked for the right words.
“Not really, I was a lousy brother, but we will figure it out.”
Sirius was behind her and smiled to me. I took a deep breath and let James’ words sink in. maybe I didn’t have to be good at the things he was. I could be my own Potter.
