[Image description: A heavily edited meme. A picture of classic Captain America (from the comic issue where he punches Hitler) is set next to two flags: the American flag, and a 6-stripe Pride flag. The dialogue caption underneath has been edited to read, "It's time to punch some Nazis! Also gay pride!"]

Listen, I just want a bit of reassurance that I’m not the only one who spends the majority of my day thinking about, if not reading, fanfiction.
Like, I don’t think you understand -
Watching a movie? = I want that as an AU.
Listening to music? = Daydreaming about fics.
Randomly thinking of a very obscure, specific storyline that I need to read? = Spending a good hour looking for it on ao3, before giving up and realising I’ll just have to write it myself.

There's something so inherently lovely about the trope comrades in arms falling in love. Are we so deeply entangled and connected by our common trauma? Would we ever fall in love if it weren't in the middle of a war? I'd kill for you. I'd die for you. But above all else I fervently wish to live for you. We're deep in the trenches, mud up to our knees and blood on our faces but your warmth makes it bareable. After the war, I wake up panting from nightmares and I always reach for you, even when I can't bear your touch. We've walked hell together. I've seen you commit the most atrocious of sins but I kiss your blood soaked hand so gently because I understand. I was there with you. I cannot bear to ever part from you.
Just. Falling in love in the middle of a war is so tragic and gritty but there's just something about finding softness in the hardest of places.

I had dinner with an irl friend and we were talking about the MCU and how Steve's ending made no sense and he was bringing up old cap because I was like “he literally didn't look old like he was established as immortal he shouldn't have aged that much!” and he said "that's why it looked like chris evans in bad old age makeup and not aged Steve." and then we were DyING because like what if it wasn't actually age and instead steve just showed up in costume makeup to punk his friends and then faked his death so sam would take the shield. listen…… I CRIED
