"Relationships like that stop being about 'voluntarily' very quickly. There's lots of ways someone can make you stay with them, or think you want to."

Review for "The Bride Test" by Helen Hoang (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐): I was one of the many that fell in love with The Kiss Quotient and I couldn't wait for Helen Hoang to release her next book. I was even more excited to find The Bride Test on audiobook because listening to the book was an amazing experience on a whole new level. My headphones rarely left my ears as I was determined to find every opportunity to listen to it. It was quite a ride, to say the least. I agree with every single review calling this book a masterpiece and I am so happy that I found a new favorite author. Helen Hoang has taken the romance genre in a new, innovative direction and I simply cannot get enough of it. I recommend this to anyone and everyone, no questions about it. Excuse me while I immediately hit "play" again.

Review for "The Fifth Risk" by Michael Lewis (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐): This book was recommended to me by a dear friend of mine and I am happy to say that it lived up to my expectation. I am one of those people that is just completely exhausted by current politics, so I was skeptical at first. However, I appreciate that the author found a way to address the current administration's decisions without using his words as depraved ammunition, unlike many alternative sources. The main correlation that Lewis draws from his argument that kept me engaged was how science and politics go hand and hand, for better or for worse. I recommend this book to anyone interested in not only the politics that we hear on the news, but the factors that influence our daily lives that we may not even recognize until we feel the need to find someone to blame. Also, I recommend it to anyone interested in the stories of the unsung heroes that really keep this nation afloat.

Review for "Educated" by Tara Westover (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐): Obviously, this book has been extremely popular. In fact, it only just now got bumped down to #3 on the NY Times Nonfiction Bestseller list (Congrats to Michelle Obama and David McCullough for killing it). I agree with all of the positive reviews. This book reminded me of one of my favorite memoirs, The Glass Castle. The idea of someone breaking away from a manipulative, hostile environment in an effort to better themselves is such an inspiring concept. I have a soft spot for this book because I am also a historian. It definitely reinforced my love of history and my determination to pursue my education further. I highly recommend this book. If you're still #87 in line for it at your library, either go buy or copy or hold on, because it is worth it!

Review for "Always and Forever, Lara Jean" by Jenny Han (⭐⭐⭐⭐): I really enjoyed this trilogy. I thought "To All The Boys I've Loved Before" was the strongest of the three books, but I am glad that I finished the trilogy. I enjoyed watching Lara Jean and Peter grow up and develop as characters. I thought some of the drama in this book was predictable because I had recently binge-read the earlier books. That being said, I was very satisfied with the way the book, and the trilogy, ended. I highly recommend this series, and this book, to my fellow young adult book readers. They will leave you feeling hopeful and warm.

Review for "What If It's Us" by Becky Albertalli (⭐⭐⭐🌠): This book was a roller coaster, but I'm not sure if I mean that in a good way or not. I really enjoy the author's books, specifically her writing style. Her stories are always so wholesome and they make you feel a range of emotions. However, I think that was the problem with this book. For every cute, feel good moment, there was a moment that was frustrating and made me roll my eyes. In general, the plot was adorable and it was a classic YA story. I think it would have been better if it had been a bit shorter and more condensed. I do recommend it to anyone looking for their next YA book.

Review for "The Poet X" by Elizabeth Acevedo (⭐⭐⭐⭐): I feel in love with modern poetry this past year and I was looking forward to picking up a book that met both my poetry and young adult fiction needs. I was not disappointed. This book follows the story of a young girl who struggles to find a balance between pleasing her family, navigating through romantic feelings and finding a way to express herself. This coming of age tale held my attention from cover to cover and I really struggled to put it down.

Review for "The Kiss Quotient" by Helen Hoang (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐): I absolutely enjoyed this book. I could have finished it in one day if I had the opportunity. It reminded me of the sexy writing from Fifty Shades of Grey, the familial influence on a relationship like in Crazy Rich Asians and the social anxieties and struggles that a main character faces, similar to Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. I look forward to reading another pick from Helen Hoang. I highly recommend this book and it is definitely in my top 10 for 2019!
