Thranduil tries a different kind of diplomacy; but kindness too late isn’t good enough for Thorin… ((AKA: I just wanted Thranduil dewebbing Thorin–and somehow it became angst v.v)) ((Also, yes, the title is a [not-so]subtle nod to my Fili/OMC fic Brush Brush xD;;;))

OMJ I WROTE SOMETHING I'm so sorry all: I've been incredibly depressed these passed few months and unable to get passed what I think was writer's block (probably still is; I don't think it's actually gone just... I found a hole in it, I guess, thanks to that drawing I saw) Things are... a bit better now--head/heart wise--but the cause of my depression is still here; I just think I've thought of a solution of sorts which is basically finally going through with the Crochet ASMR idea I had like last year but meshing it with my need for better marketing when it comes to my crochet store so... yea; might not work but technically I have two chances of success here (either my store finally does well or the YT channel does) so... here's hoping lol sorry for spewing this just... idk it helps to talk I guess

(Thorinduil + Towolain) Stains [NSFWish]
((Finally finished getting all [or at least vast majority of my Thorinduil Tolkien] stuff onto Pillowfort [it’s not too bad; they have some pros that Tumblr doesn’t have but it’s biggest con is being quiet] so I can finally start posting new stuff again! =D I didn’t want to make it impossible to catch up so I took a break these passed few weeks and Jive did I end up with quite the stockpile of Thorinduil works for you All–this one technically included; altho: this piece has Thorinduil in it, for sure, but it’s also more a fic for worldbuilding/fleshing out my version of Greenwood/Mirkwood/Lasgalen… Basically, I have a headcanon where Thranduil’s wardrobe is basically all made by one she-elf, the epic weaver named Towolain, and has been ever since he arrived with Oropher in Age II; she’s something of a [grand]motherly figure to him [and even was to his father] so she spoils him and coddles him but also isn’t afraid to tease and poke fun at him cuz she knows he’ll let her~))

What made you start shipping Thorinduil?
O hey! Thanks for the ask! ^^
Um, basically, when I first watched The Hobbit like 10 years ago? x'''D I really liked Thranduil but literally fell asleep during the other parts of the movie (yea I literally woke up just for Duil x'D) so shipping wasn't a thing for me back then which is why I'm so late to things
But that's not the question!
(Going under a cut cuz this got stupid long xD;;;)
At first, I just wanted to ship Thranduil with anyone--cuz he deserves love, damn it--so I just looked up ALL the ships [and yes I got scarred by a few... not mentioning which but it happened] and I actually started with Elrond, believe it or not, cuz who DOESN'T want to see the two hottest elf dads find love and comfort in each other.
This same idea is what led me to at first be good with Barduil because it's literally two hot dads but one's an elf and the other's a human. After like a week or something of reading fics for them and seeing pics (cuz, at this point, I was still working with just the first movie and what I remembered from the second when I watched it a decade ago) I actually found myself temporarily confused because in some fanart Bard and Thorin look pretty much the same (both short males with dark wavy hair and beards) and I got them mixed up a lot lmafo until I realized the best way to tell them apart is the beard thickness and Thorin's braids vs Bard's half-ponytail thing...
Then I saw THIS by @rinnirrinnir and I just... Q~Q
I suddenly remembered that this HAPPENED: Thranduil has always been Thorin's weak spot--he trusted and believed in this person so much that when he DIDN'T come to their aid that day his whole WORLD just... sort of fell apart (and not even because of Smaug but really because the person he put so much faith in just walked away and I imagine it must have been like watching your hero leave you--tho I doubt Thorin would ever admit that)--to the point that, even 100 years later and even with his company seeing him as their king and even with all his barbs and insults and blames and ire, he's still soft and in love and so easily rendered VULNERABLE by Thranduil that his elf sees right through him during the whole interaction even tho it's literally been like 200 years and Thranduil shouldn't KNOW HIM as well as he does; but like the same is also true for Thranduil because Thorin not only ignites his elf's own ire, forcing him from his calm and distant iciness to get all passionately up in Thorin's face, but also, literally, (re)opens his old wounds--his SCARS--and seriously for Duil to do that, to drop his walls--his illusion of perfection--like that...
Idk, as soon as it clicks that they've been vulnerable with each other CANONICALLY and that all their arguing really stems from this... "Once I trusted/relied on/believed in you and you let me down" and "Once I had hopes that we could build something beautiful together but reality reminded me that I'm old and ugly and not good enough (for you) so I thought it best to let you go when I should've held you" type thing... Pretty much any other pairing for Duil seems... bland?
And just the idea of them finally RECONCILING with each other and becoming the loving couple they could totally be >v<
Also, no lie, half the appeal of this is how well Thorin fits Mirkwood: like, he looks so lovely with all his earthy browns and metallic grays and lake blues accentuated by Thranduil's forest like he was MEANT for it... and you KNOW Duil would deck him out to highlight that--how well his dwarven mate actually fits into his beloved home--and, really, for all that Thorin fought to get back Erebor, I think him and Mirkwood would actually be a good fit because Thranduil's Halls ARE underground enough to satisfy a dwarf's need to be buried while still being open enough for an elf (which Erebor is NOT; seriously)
There's also the family situation--cause one of the appeals of Barduil, for example, is them banding together to parent their four kids--which: first of all, The Thranduil and Dis Sisterhood; second of all, Legolas (plus all his adopted siblings) and Fili and Kili as brothers (kinda, I know the dwarflings are Thorin's NEPHEWS but still) learning to be all kinds of mischievous shites together~; third of all... Thranduil sharing what he's learnt since the Last Alliance about fatherhood and childrearing with Thorin, Thorin validating all of it because he can see how strong and skilled all of Thranduil's kids are (even if they're all struggling at least a BIT with emotional displays because they've all been wounded somehow and rendered reserved--which Thorin could probably help with cuz canonically he's skilled af at getting Thranduil to come out of his icy shell and FEEL again; so: chances are he could easily do this with any elf, including Duil's kids), Thranduil getting farther validation by bonding well with Fili (because Fili strikes me as the more understanding of the two AND, since Legolas is the youngest elf of all Duil's kids, Fili being a big bro with him despite their ages [which make Fili much younger than Las] seems like it'd totally happen and be so flipping cute if it did~ >v< Duil would also totally love seeing that as Fili's Thorin's Honored Heir and if THEY can get along then there's real hope for the north's future) and eventually Kili (I could see him being more influenced by Thorin and his centuries of hatred [born out of his betrayed love] of Duil and, if you wanna keep the [annoying] romance plot he has with Tauriel then he'd probably also resent Duil for that too before realizing Thranduil literally cut all ties with his adopted daughter so she could BE with Kili even if their love story is so painfully contrived it hurts), and Thorin actually being adopted by all the elflings Duil adopted plus Las plus his few humans (let's face it: Aragorn is so Duil's too; that's why he's also Las' babysitter: they're really brothers lmao) PLUS all the Elder Elves that see Thranduil as both their king AND their son (because they adopted him and Oropher back when they first arrived after the fall of Doriath--some even taking on the role of grandparent) so suddenly Thorin goes from having just his sister and sister-sons left to having numerous parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, kids, etc-- Just: the family dynamics that could happen here are so sweet.
ANYWAY
The long and the short of it is really the throne room scene and realizing what their actions in that moment really meant~
Thanks again for the question! =D Remembering this was really fun All my love~!

Haunted Halls AU
Fili and Kili are young/teen paranormal seekers hoping to catch any kind of proof they can that ghosts exist/are real/can be seen because they miss their dad.
If they can just find proof that leads them to a WAY… they can talk to him again.
They hear rumors about an old mansion with some posh rich guy’s ghost haunting it and decide to check it out with their friends Ori and Gimli.
But the four end up separated, lost, and biting off more than they can chew.
((A.K.A.: The modern AU in which Thranduil and his people are mansion haunting ghosts that Thorin and co. and Gimli and Dis have to deal with… or are they just relics from a lost age?))

🧶✨🍃Welcoming Spring with a Green Leaf Scarf!!!🍃✨🧶
All, I am so proud of this: I literally did not expect it to come out so nice!
There were supposed to be some borderlines but no matter where I placed them they just looked... really odd xD;;; So I ended up just not bothering
Probably for the best too as it was taking more yarn than I expected lol
And more time cause, honestly, it took me like three tries to get the vine right and I still have the first draft (made separate before I realized just embroidering it on was the best way to go) laying around and waiting to be used for something... perhaps as decor for a sweater? shawl? x’’’D or Duil Doll’s dress!
If you're interested, you can buy it here!

What is your favorite Tolkien universe headcanon? Why did you choose to accept it?
Ooo~ Thank you~!!!
My favorite Tolkien'verse headcanon is, broadly, Good Ada Thranduil and, less broadly, Duil having literally 30 kids by the War of the Ring.
Now, to start with, Thranduil's BLOOD child is only Legolas, for me, and he's the youngest elfling Duil has to his name; before him, though, Duil lost his father and 2/3 of his people (the Silvans of Greenwood) which meant that he was grieving a LOT after the Last Alliance: and this only got worse when he had to tell CHILDREN that their parents, like his own father, fell in that horrible battle; knowing their pain and knowing what HE would like someone to do if he were still their age, Thranduil's first declaration as New King of Greenwood The Great was that ALL of these orphaned elflings were now HIS children and he will guide them through their pain and towards greener pastors just as he will the whole of Greenwood; thus, his reign's tone was set and the remaining Silvans understood him as kind and compassionate and a father all the way despite his, then, young age which, of course, led to my follow-up headcanon (explained a bit better over here): most call him Adaran as a joke and with all the love in Ardhon~
I like this headcanon because, like I explained in the linked post, Thranduil's character feels a lot like the cool/chill dad that lets his kids do whatever they want as long as they do it HOME where they're safe; which is the only way he ISN'T chill: he's super protective and literally lays waste to ANYTHING that dares to hurt his precious children; which, of course, gives him a terrible reputation with anyone else whom either doesn't know him well or represents a threat to his fam. Also, obviously, I like this headcanon because I love found family and I genuinely think Thranduil, whom lost his whole home as a child and then his father not long after gaining a new home that saved their lives back when they were making the trek to sail by taking them in and reminding them how wonderful it is to be alive by loving them, believes wholeheartedly in adoption and bloodless family lines (especially since he, himself, was adopted by Greenwood's elders). And, ultimately, I just need this sweetness in my life. =)
If you don't mind, I'll use this ask of yours to list his kids:
(And please ignore that this isn't a complete list; I'm still building ><;;;) ((Alsoalso: ignore that I'm clearly posting this before I'm done with it: I'm certain no one is really reading this far because these are just OCs and thranduilofsmirkwood has recently made me aware that today, March 25, is actually Lee Pace's birthday so I want to post something for him and what better thing to post than my fav headcanon for Duil? So, with this, I also wish him a wonderful 44th even tho it's a bit late))
His Firstborn (figuratively) is Mallosnell. He was the oldest elfling Duil had to tell that faithful day but also the first of the whole bunch and he cried; Thranduil was able to comfort him and, thusly, himself, as well. This is what gave him the idea to adopt them all and, subsequently, what earned Los the title of his Firstborn. Since then, they've hardly parted ways, relying so heavily on each other that: when Duil had to relearn how to fight after nearly loosing his arm during LA due to a stab through the shoulder that made it impossible for him to wield his beloved battle axe, Thunder (a gift, no less, given by a Dwarf Lord of Old back when Doriath was still alive and well and the world was young and we did not hate each other as we do now...), Los was both his training partner and his main encouragement because the burning desire in Los to become strong enough to protect his fellow Silvans and his king, as well, reignited Duil, too, and literally propelled him through as much grief as it did Los, himself; when Thranduil and his wife, Ektalas, finally had their first real child, which had honestly terrified Mallosnell whom, for all that he loved Las already, thought he was going to be replaced by this Blood Son, Duil didn't even have to ask--Ektalas knew what he'd want to do and told him it was what she wanted as well before he even drew breath--before he was giving Las to Los to hold first (of all the, then, 23 kids) and introducing him to the young adult as, "Meet your baby brother," thereby solidifying Mallosnell as his son and soothing all his fears; when Thranduil LOST Ektalas not long after Las was born and couldn't, because he had to be strong for his people/children/LAS, even CRY about it (not until later, at least, when he didn't have to fear or worry about images and supporting everyone else through the loss) he, instead, cried through Los whom sobbed for him and their loss (because, by this point, Ektalas had long become his second mother). The betrayal and treason of Tauriel as well as the leaving of Legolas only solidifies their relationship, closeness, and reliance on each other to the point that they hardly go anywhere without the other again (this, for anyone wondering, is how Fili and Mallosnell end up close: one day I'll write the version of BOtFA in my head where the Durin brats survive and Thorin is able to become king under the mountain and Fili his heir because Los chased Duil up to Raven Hill [whom, himself, was going up there because he realized Thorin was there being an idiot trying to face someone he clearly struggled with alone], saw that Fili was about to die, and started shooting Azog down; thus, Fili initially just seeks Los out to thank him for saving his life, after, but then ends up really liking what he happens to see and learn). Sidenote: it's my personal headcanon that the reason Duil often has 2 swords while FIGHTING but only 1 literally every time ELSE is Los; literally, because they both learned how to swordfight TOGETHER, both of them fight the same (style) and use the same (long) sword; but, later, Los also learned other fighting styles with other types of swords; so, when they're on a battle field together, Los often gives Thranduil his long sword (thus Duil has two) while fighting with his own short and regular sword (his own personal preference after the long sword).
Next is Annuigwae, Thranduil's Dancing Daughter. Slightly younger than Mallosnell, she and him had been best friends for centuries before the loss of their parents which only brought them closer. Contrasting Los, Lim didn't cry when Duil told her; instead, she broke down by ceasing to talk and almost going catatonic in her grief. Thranduil and Mallosnell managed to keep her from that by dancing with her; and Feren, whom has never spoken*, taught her to speak via her hands (a.k.a.: Sign Language, or Mâbpaeth [Hand Speech]). Annuigwae is called Duil's Dancing Daughter because their dancing together not only allowed them to bond as father and daughter but also healed him as much as it healed her; and after the loss of his wife (Ektalas), Lim became the only one capable of getting him to dance with everyone again (instead of drinking his sorrows away). Not a child of Duil but still very important: Annuigwae has a wife whom plays double bass and sings; she's often the one playing music for them as they dance and, in fact, this is how they got together: before LA, they'd only been professional musician and dancer; however, after being called upon to perform for them as they danced and supporting them both (but more Lim as, obviously, Duil's king and harder to support when you're just a performer in his court) through their pain... well, they became friends; and, after Lim healed and became more outgoing again... they grew closer and fell in love. *Note: I'm aware he DOES actually speak; but it's like only one line and by the time it came I'd already had this headcanon that he's mute and loved it so much (represent!!!) that I decided to keep it as a hc.
Speaking of Feren: while he is thousands of years older than Duil and, in fact, one of the Elder Silvans that adopted both him and his father when they arrived during the Second Age, our dear Silvan general had a sibling that fought and died at his side during the Last Alliance. This sibling fell with their partner and thus left behind twin elflings: Calen and Meludir (yes, THAT Meludir; I've seen some people/blogs saying he's Lindir's little brother but I can't see Duil letting him go and live with NOLDOR in IMLADRIS if Lindir would count as his kid so... yea, they're not related for me; sorry) (and if anyone's wondering: Calen is the she-elf beside Meludir and behind Feren's right shoulder when their should-be-younger-sister/Duil's-daughter, Tauriel, literally acts like the biggest brat and draws her bow on Thranduil for dwarf d)

YES.
Doctor who is literally just a story about grief. About the stages beyond the normal five. About hope and reaching and living hard and fast and passionately bc we're all going to die. About outlasting those you love most and being forced to keep on living. About celebrating the dead and the dying bc they were once alive and will forever be alive in your memories. About learning how to move on despite knowing some part of you never will. About running as fast as you can while clinging to the small bits of love and happiness you can scrape for yourself along the way. About outliving and outlasting everyone and everything you've ever put you faith in until all you have left is the faith itself. About always being dead and alive at once, carrying everyone you've ever lost and every version of yourself you've ever been on your shoulders bc you are too kind and too selfish and too full of grief to do anything else.
Doctor who is about grief. It is about life and death and hope and fear and ecstasy and bravery and melancholy and the constant balance between optimism and weight that living brings.
Doctor who is about grief. It is about how life is only precious bc everything has its time, and everything ends.
And god, isn't that fantastic?

Random Evil Thought (10): Thorin’s a Sexy Beast—Literally
I’ve seen a lot of people celebrating Thorin’s thick, luscious locks on here and, mellyn, I’m 100% there with you; but, since we all seem to unanimously agree that Thorin’s hair is a literal lion’s mane, it’s got me thinking… Did you all know: research shows that dark manes/hair/fur on lions is a sign of high testosterone; and, as a result of this, lionesses are more attracted to/likely to pick dark lions! So, basically: Science says our lion maned Thorin is a literal sexy beast~

This is so brilliant I can't even omj

I decided that for, mod verse, the Rankin and Bass Thranduil is a rude political cartoon that Legolas thinks is very, very funny. They go on walks and see a frog and Legolas is like, look dad its you!
