Ninjago: Dragon's Rising episode 3 "Crossroads Carnival" Here are some of my storyboards (side-by-side with the final animation). It was my first episode on this series. A big part of boarding on Ninjago was handing off the traditions from the old ninjas pre-merge onto the new generation, Arin and Sora. Like all ninjas, one must undergo training, mentorship, and field experience. This episode hit a perfect balance of all three, while still having light-hearted humor with the Crossroads Carnival. It's interesting seeing Lloyd being the mentor these days.

It was important to make Lloyd feel like a new Master Wu, so I mirrored the same staging and shot selection as Master Wu from his training days in the same training grounds.

I enjoyed seeing Lloyd have a lot of moments of self-reflection and adjusting to his new role as a mentor. Not only are the new ninja growing, but the old ninjas are evolving as well.
