Hi so i only recently got into hamilton and really liked lmm in it but ive been seeing a lot of pjo fans talking about not wanting him as hermes and you are a lmm expert so i wondered if you knew why people are hating on him for being casted in pjo?

first of all, i am actually flattered that you called me an expert (i am literally not but i do know a lot, i observe, i go through lmm tag every day, i get mad when i see people talk shit about him, basically i'm super loud about my love for this guy so there's that some call it dedication, i call it obsession lol).

there are a lot of reasons actually but all of them are just so silly to me. for example, some people say he is a bad actor (if hamilton is not enough for you, please go watch his dark materials, he is excellent and i will fight). others say he can't sing (he can, he may not have the most incredible vocals ever, not like most broadway stars and i know a lot of people compare him with the best singers out there, but it doesn't mean he can't sing, also, he is much better now than he used to be years ago, for example i'd recommend listening to vivo soundtrack, especially keep the beat or one more song, i mean EXCUSE ME BUT MY MAN CAN SING). another reason: some people say he is annoying because he puts raps everywhere. ok, and? he is a great rapper, i'll say more: he is also a freestyle rapper, very talented indeed (i recommend checking literally any freestyle love supreme video on youtube or you can just go through my fls tag here. making up rhymes on the spot? pretty insane if you ask me). there is also a group of people who think he is cringe, his rhymes are cringe, some of his songs are not good, etc etc (i bet those people can write better songs). i think he is one of the greatest composers of our generation and i will, of course, fight (haters, please shut the fuck up about the scuttlebutt, this song was supposed to be annoying, you just don't get it apparently? same with my own drum actually. can we just stop pretending that he is talentless because of those songs you guys literally have no taste and you hate fun and also shut tf up). oh, and also, people these days very often say he is everywhere and it's annoying (this is literally his job but whatever). and my all-time favourite: some people are mad that he was playing hamilton because they think he didn't deserve it (he literally wrote the whole thing but ok). one more thing: i have never read pjo, i literally just started reading it only because of lin, so i know nothing about hermes, but personally i really hope he will sing/rap, just because i want to see them all suffer.

there were also other controversial stuff (with in the heights, hamilton and puerto rico) but we are not going to discuss it on my blog, sorry (mostly because i have my own opinion about it and i know i will get a lot of hate for speaking my mind). one thing i can say is that nobody's perfect, we all make mistakes sometimes and i will always fight for him, no matter what.

Not a submission, but I was curious: since this is a blog dealing with distinctions between canon and fanon- and thereby also necessarily distinctions between hard canon and more personal interpretations- how you plan on dealing with the often intentionel level of ambiguity surrounding a lot of characers? Take someone like Jin Guangyao, a discourse magnet and someone I expect you'll be getting lots of submissions for. Mdzs is a story that deals with the dangers of rumours and reputation, and how oftentimes the truth is entirely swallowed in hearsay, and that's reflected with the way that certain things about certain characters are just... not made clear. Like jin guangyao killing rusong, he had a possible motive, and he sort of confessed... in the same sentence where he said he killed his wife who committed on-page suicide. So did he? Did he not, but felt responsible? I presume this means putting a lot of stuff in "fanon-supported" as in: this is in the novel and a logical interpretation but it may or may not be true, but I was wondering if you'd thought about this more and how you want to tackle it!

this is a great question! thank you so much for asking it. it's definitely something i've been thinking a lot about, because (as you say) the ambiguity regarding a lot of characters – including wei wuxian himself – is intentional.

i think a lot of main/important characters have a huge amount of discourse surrounding them because of the way rumors work in mdzs, as the characters (and therefore the audience) can never be clear on the explicit truth. while i've made it clear that i don't want to explicitly feed into character discourse for my own sanity, i still think it's important to address them on my blog if they come up!

i think i will end up putting this sort of thing in "fanon – supported" a lot, but i feel like that's slightly disingenuous. after all, even if something like "jin guangyao killed rusong" isn't confirmed in canon, it still has basis in the text. there are direct quotes to prove the idea came from the novel. things like "jiang cheng tortured demonic cultivators" are even more iffy, because (correct me if i'm wrong – i don't have the novels on hand right now) we actually get a reference to it from his perspective, but the way he words it can imply that it's simply a rumor he's heard about himself.

depending on the volume of submissions that deal with this sort of problem, i may end up making an entirely new rating, or just editing the definition of "fanon – supported" a bit in my pinned post to accommodate. since mdzs is about the unreliability of hearsay and the danger in believing rumors, i want to be careful to avoid those traps myself.

i'd love to get y'alls opinion about this, actually: does it make sense to count these sorts of ideas as "fanon – supported"? or do you think a new rating that distinguishes between "in-text rumor" and an actual fanon concept would be useful for the purposes of this blog?

I try so hard not to do this but i gotta rant. Regarding the last reblog, I do NOT think the lack of comments and such is 100% peoples fault. I honestly think a significant part of it is how app and website design combines with content culture.

I want, and need, an inbox that shows me original works people have posted so that I can rummage through it at my own pace and know I'm not missing anything I love. Deviantart was great for this. Sit down on an evening, go through stuff at your own pace, say hi!

Don't even get me started on how you can't save stuff easily on most sites to look back on let alone navigate your own profile easily. Pretty basic thing?? I can't even begin to count the amount of times I find an artist here, go to their blog and its like ah! Their art tag does not work, or they do not have a tag. There is no other website with a gallery of theirs? Scrolling through their blog is 90% reblogs? I have to give up. Again, it's NOT THEIR FAULT. This is not tumblr exclusive.

On all the popular apps and websites now, there's an endless and constantly expanding dashboard of reblogs and memes and maybe if you're lucky you might see some art or something you followed someone for. How are you supposed to keep up if you follow more than ten people?

Bluesky is doing well with this so far, with the option to disable seeing shares and comments in your dashboard at least. (As well as muting blogs if one of ur beloved mutuals becomes absolutely obsessed with idk, minecraft youtubers. WE ALL HAVE OUR LIMITS...)

It really just seems like a huge oversight in basic accessibility that's become normalised. I don't really scroll tumblr anymore- I can't manage. I miss a lot, and the stuff I don't- well, I've probably also been sucked into the content cycle trap and just TRYING to keep up. This means I don't really want to post much either.

"That's just how it's always been on tumblr" That's okay! I'm not saying people can't enjoy it that way. It's the fact every single popular app is doing it the same. It's HORRIBLE.

Hi, my name is Dolly (she/her) and I've had this blog for quite some time! Au where the game resets and MC is the only one who actually remembers what happened due to a glitch and gets more protective of sayori than he ever has.

Due to the way you worded it I can imagine 2 drastically different outcomes

AU 1 - Basically Yandere MC (CW for basically all the existencial stuff in ddlc and toxic relationships). After realizing what terrible things plague Sayori every day and the horrific thing they could cause MC because super possessive and protective of Sayori, basically vowing to never let her suffer again. He’d constantly hug, cherish and encourage her, while being extremely clingy and constantly worried about her, to the point that the other girls find it kinda creepy. He would especially get aggressive with Monika, telling her “Get away from my Sayori you murderer!” With Monika being extremely confused, scared and worried.

Meanwhile Sayori is kinda freaked out by his sudden change in demeanor, but hey, he’s her best friend, even more so he’s the best friend who she has had the biggest and fattest crush on since forever, so why should she complain about him giving her more attention and hugs and comfort, it doesn’t feel bad. Even when the other girls have an intervention with her she just kinda hand-waves it, maybe thinks that there’s something deeper to the intervention, alternative motives maybe?

It'd probably end in tragedy because I'm a believer in the "The game Doki Doki Literature Club in the lore of DDLC cannot have a happy ending, because they either all die without knowledge of what's beyond their realm or the characters slowly destroy their own world because of the insanity and sadness that plague them thanks to the revalation that they're not real".

But that's probably not what you were asking for considering what my blog is actually about, so here's

AU 2 - Clingy, worried wet puppy BF MC. MC comes back,but instead of being overprotective and controlling of Sayori, he instead just tries to be a better and more understanding person for Sayori, being there for her and constatly saying stuff like "I'm here for you" "You tell me anything you want" "I'm here for you" "I like spending time with you" "I don't know what I'd do without you" etc. He tries to get a better grapple on what mental illnesses entail and how to help someone deal with them. Sayori is surprised by this, maybe she made it too obvious that she was sad? She'd initially try to isolate herself from MC to "not be a burden to him", but thanks to his dedication, honesty and gentleness, he's able to get her to trust him with her problems.

Over time Sayori starts becoming happier and starts to find ways to start healing. MC eventually discovers he has feelings for Sayori and confesses to her, she obviously accepts.

Meanwhile the rest of the club is just kinda there, I don't think they'd play an important role in this AU, apart from being part of Sayori's support system and becoming better friends with MC.

Anyways I hope this rambling was enough to answer your question!

So I had no idea who Andrew Dobson is and I ended up doing a deep dive that totally wasn’t about procrastinating my essay and jfc that one person with a blog dedicated to him needs a life. But I’m really confused about the whole thing. Cause some of the stuff they were mentioning did seem like real dick moves on his side but then next thing they’re actually criticising him for being anti-trump and… like is he a bad guy for the way he acted towards women occasionally or is he a bad guy cause he hates a rampant misogynist???

basically people hate(d) him because he was a bit of a jagoff who was kinda high on his own supply back when deviantart was really big -- he was sizably popular there as Tom Preston, and there used to be a pretty big cottage industry of deviantart celebrity "lolcows" with any decently sized following. most of the first lolcows (i hate this term lol) i was cognizant of as a youth were from deviantart. most of these people were also basically harmless, just "cringe," which is also where i'd put dobson. he was pretty obstinate and didnt take criticism well, especially early on. that + his more liberal beliefs made him an easy target.

the thing is it spiraled way out of control, and it got to a point where he was at the center of a nonstop surveillance and harassment cycle. it was typical lolcow troll methods -- he would continue his existing work and it'd be instantly posted to the chans or whatever for mockery, or he'd start a new venture and it'd die in the womb due to this hate following. a few years ago he just stopped posting entirely, which honestly is not surprising. he was clearly very paranoid, depressed and suicidal, which i probably would have been in his situation, and most lolcows naturally end up being.

and the thing is like.......people are still obsessed with him. which is incredibly bizarre because he's gone and has been gone for years, but also because his offenses are incredibly banal. oh wow a nerdy webcomic artist who came up on the early internet is smug and opinionated, call the FBI. as with most lolcows i think dobson's life story would be significantly more mundane if not for the fact that a contingent of weirdos became obsessed with him. and as with most lolcows as well, they project fiercely -- insistent that HE'S the weird one when he logged off ages ago and they STILL talk about him (even here -- there's like two active andrew dobson stalker diaries i think lol)

i would say the most morally dubious thing he did was draw like, inflation art of some of the azumanga daioh characters once? which that could have been as long as 20+ years ago and idek how young he would have been then. and let's be real they dont care about morals they just hate him bc he's Cringe. call is coming from inside the house etc

It's rare that I see someone so dedicated to the plot just as they are usually to the romance! Take Tease!au, or wicked!au for example. You've created the PERFECT balance between bitter and sweet in every one of your fics!

And even when it comes to the daddy!jk masterlist of yours, it's a 100% romance😍 and it's never boring.

If I'm being honest, i think what i like most about your writing is the angst. You leave us hanging on, waiting for more in the most artistic way possible. You make me want angst as well! You've always been able to play around with words such that i feel that fucking pang in in my chest.

Lily you got me over here trying not to sniffle and cry 😭😭😭 I’m trying really hard to pull myself out of this slump and it’s not going very well!! It’s far from the first time I’ve had feelings like this so I’ve adjusting to coping but it’s still an awful thing.

And once again, complaining and crying hasn’t really done anything, in fact I feel like it’s just made me feel even worse because again, I don’t want it come across that I don’t appreciate the ones who do support me, I love each and every single one of you!!! (your boyfriend is a bonus LOL but saying I love him would be a little too weird, still very cool that a man enjoyed my writing though and it’s not just gender exclusive🫶)

I’ve loved every moment of writing both Tease and Wicked, that’s something I cannot stress enough., but I was fresh 18 when I first started Tease, I didn’t have nearly the responsibility and stress of life that I have now getting ready to be 24, I look back and reminisce that I was actually able to pump out 10-20k every two weeks so diligently! And it makes me so depressed knowing I can no longer do that.

Not to mention that while it has been rewarding, it has become so much more taxing to my mental health to keep trying, for my own personal enjoyment it has been absolutely rewarding but the demand that people have had over the years has really stressed me out, balancing all of this is such a tricky thing! And at one point I thought it would get easier to balance, but if it does, I haven’t made it yet 😭

hey! this is a blog dedicated to archiving character interactions in the ryu ga gotoku series. ideally, this can be a resource for anyone looking to find particular exchanges or checking characterization. the focus will be on non-cutscene interactions, but some cutscenes may be included. my hope is that i can begin with major characters (i.e. kiryu and haruka) and branch out to minor characters (i.e. pocket circuit fighter)

DETAILS:

1. posts will be tagged with names of the characters involved and the game(s) the screenshot(s)/video(s) originate from.

if the relationships are particularly frequent/prominent, then i may have a tag like "kiryu and date" for their interactions specifically.

if you're looking for something, check the featured tags.

if you still can't find something, feel free to reach out to me, and i'll see what i can do.

if there is a common merged name for that dynamic (i.e. a ship name, though some people use these to refer to a dynamic generally), then it's likely i'll include that as well, regardless of whether the content is romantic or my feelings on that pairing, so that people can find what they're looking for more easily. if i make exceptions, it will be in extreme instances, and i reserve judgement on those. please don't ride my ass for this, i don't want to have to block you. this is for everyone. play nice.

2. i will be accepting submissions and requests for particular characters and/or interactions, etc.

if there's nothing else, i'll likely put the game if it's a one-off character (i.e. "mayumi (yakuza 5)")

this might be a bit shaky, but i'll try to make it all very clear and send out updates if/when i change things.

10. i might end up tagging certain things "archive: x" so i don't clog up popular tags (i.e. "archive: kazumaji"), but we'll see.

11. some posts may require threads. i will tag the final posts in these "🧵" to indicate it is the final version, and i will edit the top of the chain with a link to its finished version for user convenience.

my hope is that this'll make it easier to find the full post without having to dig through reblogs, especially if the post gets popular (because people may not reblog the whole thing, and may reblog an earlier version without the link. which is totally fine btw).

if a post gets popular, i may add another tag called "popular", to make it easier to search for these posts specifically. search for this along with 🧵 or character(s) and game(s) for the best results finding older, popular posts.

"text only" for pure transcriptions (i.e. transcribing a cutscene, no screenshots)

"screenshot" for posts that have images (these will include alt ID transcriptions, but "text only" is intended for screen reader use. i do not use screen readers myself, so if there's anything i can do to improve that experience, i would love to know)

"video" for posts with videos, which will have transcriptions under a readmore (and will likely have text only transcriptions, which i'll try to link to such posts)

"cinematic"" if the content is from a fully animated cinematic (i.e. ones you can rewatch from the menu)

"cutscene" for those scenes that are mandatory to progress the plot and often happen between cinematics, but are posed in the typical dialogue format (i.e. scrolling text in boxes)

"overworld" for dialogue that occurs in other circumstances (i.e. speaking to an npc, substory dialogue)

"objective" for objectives located on the pause menu, which are characterized as the player character's inner monologue

"substory" for content from substories (these will likely also separately be tagged "substory #: title"). if they are from a particular minigame's line of substories, i'll tag them something like "mesuking" to distinguish them

"maps" for maps

"menus" for store inventory and bar/restaurant menus

"location ref" for references of particular locations, especially interiors (i.e. tojo HQ)

"location: x" for various locations, i.e. serena, purgatory, prison, restaurants, etc

"inventory" for items (corresponding to the game's classification of them)

"equipment" for weapons and armor (corresponding to the game's classification of them)

"abilities" for ability descriptions, categories, users, and costs

"messages" for emails, pager messages, etc (excluding phone calls, which have their own tag)

"phone calls" for phone calls, both cutscene and overworld

"misc" for other stuff, in case you're having trouble

Snail Mail Wanted

|| ~ Millennial Bookworm & Fangirl ~ || I thought I'd try Tumblr because IG penpal community seems too intimidating. Everyone has such gorgeous letters and I am one very tired millennial who doesn't have time for artistic and scrapbooky-like envelopes and letters. In saying that, however, I do enjoy writing 10 page letters of anything and everything and nothing all in one. The type of letter where, as soon as you see my letter arrive in the mail, you know to put a cup of tea on and get settled in... and it's like I'm there talking your ear off. (Which is hilarious because I'm a massive introvert who doesn't do that in real life. Unless I'm comfortable enough in your presence and you'll get that crackhead goblin energy from me). I do want to say that I would prefer writing with someone between the ages of 23 - 35. I feel like that's a good age bracket to vibe with, as I certainly don't act my age. So if you're expecting a wise, old woman. That ain't me. Wise? No. Old? ...well being 30 does feel old. Obviously I want to state that: Please do not expect fancy letters, or scrapbook-y decorated letters. I don't have the time or budget to maintain that. I just miss simple, long(ish) handwritten letters. That's it. With the added surprise of a few photos sometimes. Whilst I live comfortably, I am still someone on a budget, so sending parcels is just not doable for me, so if that's also what you're expecting...please find someone else. I would love, love, LOVE to be able to send Parcels but it's just not financially feasible. Alright... And then, I guess, 2023 became that 'healing back-to-normal' phase. So I guess...as we enter 2024, I think I'd like to have a penpal or two. I don't want to be part of anyone's collections. I would love to find a penpal from Scotland and Greece, but that's also not a necessary requirement. Anywhere is fine! Erm... I don't know what else to write? If I write too much about me, I'll have nothing left to write in letters. If I write too little here...I'll sound boring as hecc! (Which I am, but that's beside the point). OH! Hey ive been reading through your blog for the past hour and have been loving alot of your analysis. I like how well written they are.

I also want to say that I love Stephanie Brown, shes one of my favorite DC characters but i respect the hell out of you for voicing your frustrations and hatred with her character and the writing around her. You just explain yourself so well. And I completely understand why you dislike her.

But I just wanted write a little hello and let you know ill be sticking around for more of your analysis. You go on a keep writing great stuff!

Thank you! That's very kind of you to say. I hope the experience will not be frustrating for you, as I know I can get a little heated when I'm annoyed about this stuff.

Honestly, the most frustrating thing of all is that I don't like hating Steph. I don't want to dislike her, it would be so much easier if I could at least get to the point where I found her tolerable. And it's not like I came into the comics expecting to dislike her either.

Personal tangent here, but I grew up in the kind of conservative southern town that not only didn't have a comic book shop, the only bookstore available was actually just one-third of the local Hasting's Entertainment, and even that selection was dedicated 25% to Bibles, Christian self-help, and those creepy Amish romance novels. (And let's not even get into the - ahem - "ghetto fiction" shelves.)

So my only access to comics was through the occasional trade paperback at the library and one of my teachers, who let us read his personal collection of Wizard magazines as part of supervising our comics & anime appreciation club. And I've got a vivid memory of reading an article about "the new Girl Wonder!" who was about to make her debut and getting really excited, because at that point I'd read and re-read the first YJ trade paperback a half-dozen times and couldn't decide if I wanted to be Wonder Girl and kiss Robin or vise-versa.

And y'know, I was AFAB and a white middle-class teenager and thought I was a girl, I loved purple and superheroes, most especially Robin, and I went through that phase of thinking that made me different and better than girls who cared about fashion and make-up and real boys. I was primed to be in the Steph audience, I feel like I was precisely what the creators were probably imagining when they thought of her target audience.

And that's honestly part of the reason the writing around her makes me so angry, especially her Batgirl run. It's insulting that Brian Miller and Dan Didio and whoever else was responsible for that book and everything that's come of her since all seem to think that all that audience wants from their comics is to project themselves onto a sexy mean girl who puts in the bare minimum effort, never thinks of anyone but herself, never takes responsibility for her mistakes, and gets rewarded for it all with nothing but adoration, praise, and the love of a nice guy who's never allowed to leave her no matter how badly she treats him.

I want Steph to have an actual story that challenges her and explores her actual character so badly I could scream, and if no one's interested in telling those stories, I wish they'd put her away until they found someone who was. But until I can get my own foot in the door in the industry, all I can really do is scream into the void. If other people get something out of that, all the better.

The family shrub and genealogy in Amphibia

Hello everyone! In my quest to watch more animations, apart from two of my favorite shows, Futurama and Carmen Sandiego, I'd like to talk about one of my favorite shows, Amphibia, and family history themes in the show.

Reprinted from my Genealogy in Popular Culture WordPress blog. Originally published on July 29, 2020.

In the episode "Family Shrub," Sprig and Polly think their family history is boring. However, their minds are changed when they "uncover family secrets buried deep under their very own home." Oh my! At the beginning of the episode, when Sprig is gluing on new pictures onto the tree, Anne says: "back home, we'd call this a family tree." Hop Pop laughs, saying that is "why everyone in your world is crazy." Anyway, he is reading from a book of family history at the beginning of the episode, which has tabs in it, noting specific sections.

I love that Hop Pop gets excited from reading the family history (which he probably put together) while the other characters are bored by it. I love the parts where he says that one of the ancestors was a "king" with everyone excited, then adding "king of single-tiered irrigation systems." This makes it one of the most hilarious parts of this whole episode, seriously.

After this, Polly declares that "our ancestors were boring" and Sprig declares, in an annoyed tone, "were they all just farm frogs?" This is equivalent to my statement where I said that my ancestors were "dang farmers" from Massachusetts. Sprig wants to know about the artists, the poets, and the dreamers. Honestly, this episode is making fun of people who boast about their family histories. I mean, it could be. Hop Pop makes a good point that could apply to anyone who grumbles about their ancestors:

"Just farm frogs? Kids, the point of the shrub is to give you an appreciation for your past. The Plantar family has layers. You just have to know where to look."

Anne accepts that and begins asking about ancestors on the tree. Hop Pop explains how each of the ancestors is unique, although none of his kids, or Anne, are impressed by his explanation. Anne then notes how she won't find any ancestors on the shrub (which is true). Pop then says that you can be related to another person in a family, but not by blood. That's because she is part of the family grouping, although she can't claim any of their descendants as her own, as she isn't "indirectly" or "directly" descended from any of them.

Pop continues to be dedicated to finishing the shrub, their version of a family tree and goes to the store to get glue. After he leaves, Polly says "you're lucky you're an outsider, Anne, because our family history is lame." Sprig then adds that there wasn't anyone weird, different, or fun. He even looks at a painting, obviously looking like the American Gothic painting, and it opens a secret passageway, exciting them all.

They find a dusty room, with weird scientific samples, in what could be described as a dungeon. They find documents showing the place belonged to their great uncle, Skip Plantar, who turns out to be a farmer and a brilliant scientist at the same time. He experimented with all kinds of things. Sprig wants to know more, so he pulls a lever.

What comes out is…a pumpkin abomination. Sprig saves them both by leaving this creature back into its cage. Then, they fall through the floor and find another room. In this place, it is revealed that their ancestor was not just a turnip farmer but a "turned up warrior" (Polly says this while flexing her muscles)

Then, they find her diary, where she recounts how she was in a "lot of battles." Sprig, being impulsive, pulls another lever, almost killing them both. They move on through, finding more hidden chambers. In one instance, a diary reveals someone who traveled around, collecting a lot of "cool stuff," and settled with the Plantars. Anne has a revelation: "I had your family history all wrong, guys. The Plantars weren't just farmers." Sprig adds that they were "twisted" while Polly says they were "pretty cool." They get back to the living room, beat up, and exhausted from their journey. They tell Pop about the secret areas with family heirlooms, with Polly saying she is "proud to be a Plantar." This excites him a lot. Polly adds that their ancestors were the "most amazing scientist-warrior farmers ever!" Sprig says that "everyone needs to know about it."

Pop says he wants to see the rooms below the house as well. Anne tries to caution him, but their caution is ignored. So, he runs down into the dungeon on an adventure, with Anne, Polly, and Sprig going to help him (and Wally who is glued to his back, one of the episode's side stories). The episode ends there. I have to say that this is one of the best depictions of family history I've seen in a while.

Sure, things have been quiet for personal reasons lately, but this blog is more than just a resource for people. There's been a bunch of things that have happened over FIVE WHOLE years. I've had so many fun threads, dynamics I've been so invested in, and that's not mentioning the amount of changes to my mayor and my 'Dark' while trying to figure out how to write a pair I was comfortable with. If I tried to make a list of everything, I can guarantee I'd forget something. (Luckily I found this post that sums up my sentiments on that)

But this isn't about any of that! This masterpost is dedicated to things I've really loved on the blog in no particular order. This ranges from silly events, to memorable posts, to anything else that makes me smile.

Since this is a special weekend, there shall be NO read-more. >:D

First thing: you need to remember that Damien, regardless of the verse I write him in, is TEAM MOM.

Second thing: Damien has been a mayor for a long time.

Damien is a very good dad. I think that goes without question. He's encountered many characters over the years that he's taken under his wing, whether as a parental figure, a guardian/uncle, or the unlucky human who has to deal with a non-human being. (There's so many good examples I'd be here for another hour trying to find links to them all)

Damien can swear.

On two different occasions, Damien has drawn every single Dark he knew at that moment. This was the first, a few months after the blog was set up; and the second, done roughly a year later (featuring Wilf).

Speaking of Wilf, did you know I first wrote William here? It's true! I had two events. The first was my 2018 April Fools event. Then, a few weeks later, people wanted him back, so he spent a day hanging out with Damien and answering a few questions. Ultimately, that had me set up Will's own blog in June (but Wilf took over about three days in).

If you need some silliness, don't forget about our beloved Mayur Daniem!!

Waaaay back at the start of the blog, Damien had a verse where he was a ghost that comprised part of another Dark. Despite what that would imply, he was actually extremely dorky, finding some sort of light within the darkness (and encouraging the non-rp blogs to join the chaos too).

Damien has no idea what's going on. He's the last to know about everything.

One time, Damien managed to insult every single Dark he knew at the time. They all popped out of the woodwork to object, and it was very funny, until there was a bit of sads. ^ However! I should give a warning!! A lot of this focuses on a long-dead ship Damien had with a Dark. They aren't the same person, and the implication was timeline crossover hijinks (with the mun eventually tweaking the lore to not be connected to W.KM)

But in better news about Darks, Dante has gone through a lot of work! Way back in the day, he was a repulsive character I called Snake (and he still exists in the form of Dante 'In Character'). Then, I had a chance to change things

I had this blog when the calendar was announced. You know, that calendar. I was barely writing two months when we discovered naked mayor month was a thing. People had great fun making fun of Damien. (As an aside, don't worry! There's nothing NSFW in this!)

This isn't mine, but if you ever need to spend an afternoon watching W.KM related stuff, pleaaaase go watch the musical. And if you need a massive long-term watching project, my friend compiled an ultimate masterpost of Mark's acting stuff!

If you've ever worried that Damien works too hard and really needs a break, we have you covered. A good friend of Damien's turned him into a M.ooshroom plushie.

Why does he work really hard? I mean, he's been mayor for a WHILE...

We have a tag dedicated to positive things, specially to help people find something to smile when they need it.

And how can I talk about positive things without mentioning Barnum? What people might not realise is that a lot of my time on the blog was paired with a heavy sense of stagnation. I didn't feel Damien was special or had anything going for him. Barnum didn't solve the problem, but it definitely helped me feel waay more settled about all of this.

I've got a tag dedicated to Damien deserving better. I've been an avid supporter of this for YEARS, hence the main verse.

Finally, I have made a tag for any of my art pieces that 'escaped containment breach' and were noticed by a more general audience, since I accidentally rediscovered several have and that surprised me.

Do you get disrespect from your family for liking Sonic?

Most don't care and/or don't bring it up. Keep in mind that "most of my family" are people who are probably too old to really pay attention to video games too deeply.

The few that are around my age never really batted an eyelash at it. It was just a thing. I think most of them know I'm not all entirely about Sonic, even though it's something I can talk about at great length (and most of this blog is dedicated to it exclusively).

When they were 4-5, my nephews loved watching Sonic X on Tubi, but they're obsessed with Pokemon these days (they're 6 now). Before going to bed just last night, one of them came in to my room and showed me a Hot Wheels he had in his hand and said "I named him Gyarados #2. My brother has another car he calls Gyarados #1."

The son of another cousin that lives in Colorado (who, for simplicity sake, I usually just also refer to as "a nephew") got way in to Sonic when he was younger, too. Apparently my artistic talents were really inspiring to him. That made me feel pretty good. He never got a chance to really show me anything. I dunno if he still cares about Sonic stuff or not. He's a teenager now. Maybe it became cringe to him. I know he's coming up with his own original stuff now, stories and things, but I don't think any of it is Sonic related.

I'd probably consider myself pretty ignorant about that subject with regards to him, though. People have told me about it, but I'm blanking on it right now.

My Mom thought it was cool. She loved how much I liked Sonic games. She loved the fact I made up my own OCs as a teenager. She skimmed my DeviantArt profile once and made Christmas ornaments out of one or two pieces she thought were the coolest. She was always trying to lift me up about my artwork and my general sense of creativity.

Beyond that, nothing. I'm pretty sure at some point in the last six months, "Oh, so you still like Sonic?" was something my brother said to me because I'm not the sort of person to just start blurting out Sonic information beyond writing about it on the internet.

You and I have very similar natal charts, same sun and moon and some of the outer planets. Since it takes a while for the outer planets to move I reckon we were born within a few years of each other (I’m 37 in May). So…what is it about our charts that makes long term Snarry lovers? Like, for real, I have been obsessed with Snarry for over 20 years now. Our charts are too similar for that to not be a factor! But seriously, love your blog and writings! The natal chart stuff has been so interesting! Just knowing there is another life long Snarry lover around my age is so comforting! Also, I’m sure you may have noticed but I believe Snape’s Chiron is Lily’s sun sign. Makes since given that Chiron is the wound.

Aha! I'll be 31 in May! :) And nearing 20 years of Snarry love myself! I discovered them when I was 11, so between the 2003 and 2004. I don't remember exactly when because well...that was a while ago and I was quite young!

As for Astrology + Snarry love, I have only a few thoughts! For one it is the superior ship, and we Taureans have great taste. Ahem, as I was saying, astrologically...

For a start, I would hazard a guess that we connect to them individually due to Big 3 placements. Us both being Taurus Suns - Leo Moons, and Severus having a Taurus Moon and Harry having a Leo Sun. Big parts of us jive with big parts of them, I'd wager. Then you consider that Taurus and Leo are both fixed signs, so prone to stubbornness and staying the course. Fixed signs aren't prone to wavering, and the more fixed energy you have, the stronger that might be.

My fixed energy is reinforced in plenty of places. Aquarius Saturn and Scorpio Pluto. Leo Rising and Taurus Venus. Leo makes the Sun the chart ruler AND the dispositor of the moon. Sun is in Taurus. Taurus being ruled by Venus makes Venus the dispositor of the sun, and my Venus is in Taurus. So for me it's a lot of fixed energy feeding fixed energy. My life's greatest challenge has been trying to balance my own stubborn nature LOL.

Fixed signs also tend to be quiet loyal. Part of it likely tied to that stubbornness. In Taurus, we see it in that earthen need for stability and security, and the Venusian sense of romance. In Leo we see it as the king/queen caring for their subjects, and returning all the warmth and energy they receive. In Scorpio we see it in the watery emotionality and their own brand of intensity, obsession, and possession. In Aquarius we see it in their dedication to humankind and making the world a better place.

There is also the Scorpio connection, maybe? I read them both as Scorpio Ascendant and we're both (probably) Scorpio Pluto. I have Harry's Rising at 17 degrees Scorpio, and Severus' at 23 degrees Scorpio. My Pluto specifically is at 21 degrees Scorpio so it's conjunct them both. Yours might not be conjunct theirs by degree, but there's still a sign-based aspect so there might still be a sense of that Rising-Pluto conjunction, which in synastry would mean obsessive attraction. Which I imagine is only the more intense in Scorpio, yikes. Actually makes a lot more sense with the idea of the Pluto person really seeing the Ascendant person, and sort of seeing through that outer layer and where it comes from.

Not gonna lie, Neptune is a bit hazy for me to grasp. Though I think that's the point; Neptune is dreams and subconscious, it's not really meant to be tangible. And all of the generational planets are a bit broader in scope and not so easy to pin down.

But with Neptune in Capricorn, that does give us a connection to Severus' Capricorn Sun. The sign of his core self is the same energy reflected in our planet of dreams. Neptune also rules fantasies, spirituality, inspiration, psychic reception, things of that nature. So perhaps there is that draw to Capricorn traits on that more dreamy plane. Neptune is colored by the more Capricornic ideals of morality and responsibility, rules, realism, even cynicism. Perhaps that would lead to enjoyment and inspiration from Severus' sarcasm and snark, but maybe even Harry's sassiness. Perhaps it links to Severus' strictness and severity, and Harry's moral compass and the responsibility he feels for "the cause." Severus as the taskmaster (and Capricorn ruled by the taskmaster, Saturn) All of the difficulties both survived, surmounted, and were shaped by.

Mind you, I don't feel the most confident in that analysis, but it's a thought!

My other thought would be perhaps house placements? Harry and I both have the Sun in the 9H. I have 8H Mars, Harry has 8H Mercury and Venus. Severus and I share Jupiter in 1H. I have a 12H Moon and Severus has a 12H Neptune (though again...I'm a bit iffy on Neptune meanings.) So there's a similarity of where those pieces of ourselves are really coming through, especially with same planet + house placements. So me really resonating with that 9H Sun in Harry, and the 1H Jupiter in Severus.

I actually have an Astrodeinst account under my personal email for IRL folk and an account under my fandom email for HP characters, otherwise I'd slap my chart on top of theirs to see more but...I probably don't need to do a full in depth synastry analysis of myself and fictional characters. (Unless...) (No, stop that, self.)

So basically maybe the sameness of energy we feel in the luminaries to them, and...oh yeah! The inherent romanticism of Taurus, and the drama of Leo! The sort of taboo nature of Scorpio and the power of Pluto.

I feel like I'm potentially overthinking it, especially since this feels like doing synastry on FOUR people LOL. Anyway, I hope some of that made sense, maybe?

But ALSO....they're clearly soulmates, and we are most wise to see it :)

And yes!!!! Aquarius Chiron. His Chiron is also 3H which is siblings and neighbors, early education, short-distance travel. So Lily feels like she's very much that 3H wound, or part of it at least. They're not conjunct, though, not his Chiron and her Sun OR her Ascendant. But it does feel that she is a big part of his Chiron journey. Chiron is both the wound and healing, so I don't wonder if maybe she began as the Healer, but by circumstance only worsened the existing wound. I can't remember if I explored this in my Snily Synastry post or not but ah well. It is fascinating to explore! (Perhaps I'd be better served isolating specific points to explore...Hmmm.)

Why retire TDBFic? There are so few places active. So few places to find all the challenges, happenings and fics. Is it really necessary? That would leave the authors to the two only other places that share fics and that would not be good—TDB is the ONLY neutral, unbiased, fanfic sharing site. It makes me queasy to think you'd close it down. Insert crying face.

First of all, to clarify, I'd never take down the blog, it'd always be there for people to interact with. So, no worries about that.

When I started TDB and the Fic blog, it was meant to be a community driven thing where authors and readers could reblog stuff they enjoy. I think, in a way, I had hoped it'd be maybe like the Klaine LJ? Where people came in and did their own thing?

I don't think it ever really worked the way I had intended, but I always had a few dedicated people who worked on it - and did things with it.

It seems as though the interest in keeping it running is low -- and with people doing other things on other blogs, I thought maybe it's time to let it go?

I'll do the poll and see what you guys think though. If there are people who want to keep it going -- I'm more than happy to let people do it. I just hate for it to be sitting there being desolate.
