Sometimes I just survive. But sometimes I stand on the rooftop of my existence, arms stretched out, begging for more.

Best Cyclops Saga Song!
Ruthlessness has won in the best Ocean Saga Song, and so now we move onto the Cyclops saga! The best song from this saga will move on to the final round, where it will face off against No Longer You, Wouldn’t You Like, Wouldn’t You Like, and the winners from the other sagas!

The way that Polyphemus is shown to be a kid really devastates me. Like "my favorite sheep 🥺" and "😯wine??😯" are so pure. And "you will learn it's not so fun to take" and "don't you know pain you sow is pain you reap?" sounds like a kid on a playground confronting their bullies and parroting things grown-ups have told them. And then in Survive, he says he doesn't like this game and that "escape is not allowed". In Remember Them when the other Cyclopes come in, it's very much older siblings going "OMG WHY ARE YOU CRYING NOW?! IT'S NOTHING??? SHUT UPPPP THEN OMG YOU'RE SO ANNOYING" and then Polyphemus's lil "😢don't go😢" is just--
Anyway now I have pity for a Cyclops--THE Cyclops, no less--and idk how to handle this

Hustle has always been romanticized in American culture, which promises that nobly sacrificing yourself on the altar of endless work will pay off in the end. But it’s increasingly clear that for most people, it won’t...The notion that hustle will eventually pay off is an insidious pipe dream. Everyone is in survival mode all the time. The system has failed. The place is unfixable.

So I just realised that in survive before polites died odysseus said:
"600 lives at stake, it's just one life to take"
Which like,,,he didn't take the one life which indirectly results in the death of 600 lives.
But THEN
Other people pointed out that in the climax of ruthlessness where poseidon drowns 11 out of 12 ships, the screams of the crew and the ensemble vocals of poseidon result in this:
"Ruthlessness is (CAPTAIN)"
Because odysseus, by trying to follow Polites's ideology of open arms, actually became more ruthless by letting them all die in the hands of a vengeful god. He is a monster.
"Mercy upon our (CAPTAIN)"
Only captain gets the mercy. 600 men died at sea, but only he survived. He was shown mercy.
