significance of technology in and out of cases
ive seen a surprisingly little number of people mention the significance of technology in tmagp.
Episode 1 features entirely an online chat forum, and whilst this is clearly seen as a thing of the eye (The Magnus Institute), there are also references to other fears, spelunking (the buried), and body gore involving eyes (arguably, the flesh)
In Episode 2, Daria's self-image and body dysphoria/dysmorphia was affected so severely by her prolonged use of social media as an artist, leading her to go to ink5oul in the first place, in which the execution of her tattoo was broadcast live, resulting in the grotesque modifications of her own body. This story is relived by her to her therapist over a video call.
So many people have said that the blurring of lines between entities (and the possible alternate-entities) is what mostly differs tma and tmagp and I entirely agree. The only episode of tma which has caused a significant debate over which fear was the most present, was MAG 65: Binary, the only episode of tma heavily featuring technology. This episode is now considered to be spiral-aligned, along with the presence of other fears.
MAGP 02: Making Adjustments, cannot be categorised with such ease. If we go with the og Smirke's 14 from tma, here are the fears I consider to be present:
The Flesh: Obvious-body modification
The Spiral: The blurring between the self portrait, and her-her mindset-stating the amount of times shes been called crazy (just vibes pretty much)
The Eye: Most tech-y fear--judgment online-tattoo broadcasting (you get the gist)
You get the point, there's been a lot of techy stuff in the cases which is causing a lot of merging entities, all somewhat revolving around, again, technology. Sure this may be coincidence, but we've no idea how things work in this universe. Could this be a modernised and newly emerging fear?
We know there's a lot of tech OUTSIDE the cases too, with windows NT 4.0, Chester, Norris and Augustus being the seemingly innocent text-to-speech voices (we know otherwise), and the fact that the O.I.A.R is being recorded and monitored by SOMETHING. We know the significance of the tapes of tma from a narrative pov, but what about what tmp is being recorded on? What about recordings? Who's listening?
anyway
I'm really interested to see where this leads to and if it really is as significant as it feels
rooting for computer jmart (however small the chances)

So this might be known already, and if so....sorry. I've been a huge fan and follower of Starkid since AVPM but I have never been involved with the fandom, so again, sorry if this is out of pocket or common knowledge. I just haven't seen it mentioned. This is a long one, so...main idea up top, long explanation under the cut.
So in the Hatchetfield musicals and Nightmare Time, we are told that the Lords in black are basically evil Eldritch monsters and Webby is their good guy sister, right?
But what do we know about Webby? We know what she has told Hannah and Lex, and we know she works in opposition to her brothers. We also know that Wiggly calls her a stupid bitch, but she was also actively telling Hannah what his plans were in order to thwart him, so. My point is, we do NOT know that she is a good guy, specifically. Just that her desires don't align with her more obviously evil brothers.
We also know that time seems to loop starting at Jane's car accident and seemingly ending at a point where the Lords in Black win enough influence to potentially cause a problem for the world at large. Sometimes this is a huge deal (TGWDLM or Black Friday). The NT episodes are much smaller and it's harder to tell when a reset might have happened (it seems like NT1 was more scattershot, but NT2 happened in the same continuity, but not the same one as NPMD).
The Lords we see in NT2 are Pokey and Nibbly. Nibbly gets what he wants (ie Linda Monroe) but Pokey doesn't in (presumably Killer Track) or Yellow Jacket. And Linda's dad says that Nibbly gets his Honey Queen Every year (I wonder how many times it's been her), so Nibbly getting what he wants isn't enough to reset the timeline. Possibly because he only gets one lady at a time?)
Some of the Lords seem more intent on being a real influence on the whole world (Pokey, Wiggly) others seem more content to mess with a smaller group (Blinky, Nibbly, Tinky).
We don't know what Webby wants, except that she doesn't want her brothers to succeed in getting what THEY want.
So: she creates a time loop. She sticks her brothers in a bit of a trap where they can potentially get free, but only in Hatchetfield to then spread to the world at large (Wiggly had influence all over the world (tho primarily in America it seems) but chose Linda Monroe as his vessel to come into the world even though the US and Russia had portals into the black already.)
Webby spins her stories, over and over, every time Hatchetfield fails to stop one of her brothers, she unravels it to the starting. Weird things keep happening in Hatchetfield, like in Perkys Buds that don't seem to relate to a specific Lord and their bid for power. Magic runs rampent in the town, seemingly stemming from the Starry Children cult. Now, they were worshipping the Lords in Black, but there has to be a reason that the Lords are so prevalent in the towns history, especially if Webby is the one who is resetting everything to Jane's death.
Tinky is the Time Bastard. If Webby trapped the Lords well, potentially with the sacrifice of Jane, he and the others might not have been able to properly escape, but they could use his time powers to influence the past of Hatchetfield. Like IT does with Derry. They've been a slow poison in Hatchetfield for decades, their magic and power causing a troubled past and weird events to occur. They try to break free, but if they get too close, their sisters web closes in and sends them back to the Black and the people of Hatchetfield back to the night Jane died.
Miss Holloway says that the deal she made for power comes with the cost that none can truly know her. She knows a lot about the Lords in Black and magic as well. It's indicated that she knows Webby as well in The Witch in the Web. We don't know with whom she made her deal, but I think it's likely it was Webby.
Webby also says to Hannah that she didn't give Hannah her power, but she also hasn't helped her understand it much, considering that Hannah thought Webby did in fact send her the visions, including the one that ended with her finger getting chopped off. To that end, when Hannah tried to confront her about it, Webby first tries to show up as a spider, and then as several (annoying) characters to distract her instead of trying to help, like she says she wants to do.
Who knows why Lex and Hannah have powers connected to the Black and White, maybe it's some weird Hatchetfield stuff, maybe their mom was the first to grow weed in the witchwood, maybe she had sex with a dude secretly possessed by one of the Lord's (it would have had to happen twice, so...idk about that) or maybe she herself was possessed by one of the Lords (Or Webby herself, planning for the future to make little soldiers to fight her brothers in the physical world). Not sure where that leaves the other kids with powers in YJ but none of them can do their magic outside the arena, and none of their powers seem to relate to the Black and White. So...maybe that's just Pokey giving them some power with his blue goop in his own quest to get Hannah to bring him into the world.
Anyway. Long post but...I just haven't seen anyone suggest that theory yet, and I thought it merits questioning.
I just don't think we can fully trust Webby. Not that she is definitely evil ... But she is an Eldritch god. She is bound to have a different view of morality than humans. And if what she wants is to get one over on her brothers, who she doesn't like and who don't seem to like her (well, Wiggly doesn't, and he seems to be the leader) then why shouldnt she use a town like Hatchetfield to do it, spinning her webs, he stories, and slowly trapping everyone inside. Hell, maybe every time they lose, they get a little more stuck.
We don't see the end of the world at the end of NPMD, but it definitely ends with Grace going on a rampage. I just wonder how long that will be allowed to last.
Fingers crossed for NT3 or another musical I guess.

Wait.. so practising facial expressions in the mirror and mimicking unfamiliar facial expressions and vocalisations of characters in the book you're reading is not neurotypical? o_o
Also hi Rohan hope you're doing well and congrats on also being on holiday now! Me too :]
Sorry for dragging you into my brain's 'am I neurodivergent or am I just overdramatic and taking a psychology course' dilemma I jusg
The more I think about things the more I'm like maybe that isn't to nt of me..
PS interwebs hugging you (if you want it) :)
PPS I am gently handing you a gulper eel. They are my everything I am obsessed I was raised on commotion in the ocean, octonauts and David Attenboroughs blue planet specifically episode 2 (the deep) fofkdnsnd
(also sorry my asks are always like this?? Idk why they just are?)
It could be!! I think the biggest problem honestly w people saying "x trait is an autistic thing" (esp on places like tiktok lol) is it does end up lacking major personal context. I think if you go through analyzing the 'why' behind you do something and come out of it realizing that you do x thing for reasons that may source from autism,,, it very well could be an autistic trait. It's not always very simple in a "this is an autism/nd thing" bc for example some nt people do things nd people do and some people with other disorders do the same things as autistic people! Pica for example (disorder where you eat or feel the urge to chew/eat non food things) cannot be comorbid diagnosed with ocd OR autism as both disorders can cause symptoms of it but for very different reasons! bc with autism people seek out chewing or eating non food things commonly for sensory seeking reasons/chew/food stims, and with ocd people may chew or eat things either as a compulsion or a sort of nervous tic/anxiety soothing stim type thing. Another example is people with adhd may have social difficulties, not because they don't understand social cues inherently, but because they lose focus when talking so much or talk endlessly without realizing, to the point they end up overwriting any social skills they may know, or they stunt their social development and thus ALSO have a lack of understanding of socialization and social cues bc of their disorder sabotaging their attempts to communicate.
For your question specifically, a lot of autistic people end up practicing unfamililar expressions/phrases/tones of voice as a way to practice what doesn't come naturally to us and/or try incorporating more diversity into our social masks. (I especially started doing this when I went to therapy and my terrible therapist basically encouraged me to mask more and try to seem "normaler" because I was so unsuccessful socially). Some people also may repeat phrases they read about or see due to things like echolalia or vocal stimming! And some people just do things like this bc a phrase might sound silly or just sound nice or seem interesting, or a characters voice might be fun to speculate on. It's really up to why You specifically find yourself doing it!
Ty btw hope ur doing well too !!! Im vibing im pogging . I am so busy but its working out so 🕺✌🏾 fuck it we ball
(Ps, hug accepted hehe, i return it to u <2)

What Entrapdak Means to Me
On the eve of Entrapdak Positivity Month, I thought it was as good a time as any to share my rambling thoughts on a ship that’s affected me in a way I didn’t think was possible.
Entrapdak is the first ship I have ever been invested in. It’s such a new experience for me that it’s taken me the last few months to wrap my head around the whole thing. I may relate to the characters in a show, but when they form romantic attachments I view it with a degree of passive distance. I don’t understand what it’s like to have those sorts of feelings for someone (I am aromantic and ace as a brick), and, well, I’m honestly not curious enough to give the subject a thorough study. My mind tends to fixate on other things.
What does this have to do with Entrapdak, you ask? Long story short for people who don’t want to read my meandering essay -- I relate a lot to these characters, and the way they bonded together struck a deep chord in me that I can’t ignore.
Let’s start with the characters. I knew going in that Entrapta was neurodivergent-coded, but I took it with a grain of salt. When I actually watched the show, however, I found myself relating to her so deeply it shocked me. Never have I felt such a kinship with a fictional character! We don’t share every trait, but it was still like seeing my brain put to life on screen. I related to her enthusiasm over her special interests, her struggles to fit in, her desire to make friends who accept and understand her for who she is.
The fact Entrapta is completely herself is something I love about her. Over the years of growing up undiagnosed, I developed a lot of masking strategies. Human psychology is one of my special interests, and even with all that accumulated knowledge, masking isn’t easy. It’s extremely mentally taxing. Masking can certainly look easy -- I can, when I have the drive and energy, “pass” as neurotypical, and only people who know me extremely well can tell I’m dying inside. All that effort is taken for granted by a lot of NTs because that’s how people are “supposed to” act, and surely I can “do the bare minimum.” The accumulated stress of near constant masking has led me to the darkest moments I’ve had in my life.
Entrapta’s struggle with leaving Beast Island hit me hard. It threw me back to a time when my feelings of isolation and worthlessness got so bad that I lost the energy to do anything, even the creative pursuits that were the obsession of my life. I retreated so deeply into my inner world that I hardly interacted with anyone. That total apathy shocked my family into getting me professional help, which gave me my autism diagnosis, the coping skills to move forward, and a good start on the road to self-acceptance. It also opened a channel between my family and I, allowing me to feel heard and understood. (An important side note on mental health: if you or someone you love needs professional help, please seek it! Sometimes you have to try out several therapists -- it took me three to find a good fit -- but you are worth it!)
It took me longer to realize, but I also relate to Hordak in some ways. Mercifully I was not raised in an extremist cult environment. However, I know what it’s like to feel defective next to a sibling that seems perfect. I was constantly being compared to my younger brother, and in all areas but art, he was superior. He was smart, athletic, and above all, he fit in with everyone. I didn’t hate him for this -- I hated myself. Trying to measure up to his standard is what caused me to develop such strong masking strategies. Underneath it all, I felt the despair of knowing my peers would reject me as soon as the mask cracked. I also live with chronic joint pain, starting at around age seven. The jury is still out on what’s causing that (the worst of it was due to a previously unknown food allergy, but the pain still comes and goes, even though it’s a lot more manageable than it used to be). This cocktail of pain, stress, and sensory issues I had to deal with gave me a very short fuse at times.
As an aside, just because I sympathize with Hordak does not mean I am excusing his actions. He is still going to have to face the consequences of his choices, and work to adjust to life post-Prime. The series end gave him a new beginning, the opportunity to be redeemed, and I prefer this to a rushed redemption arc.
What I love most about Hordak and Entrapta’s relationship is how they accept each other as they are. Hordak gives Entrapta near free reign of his sanctum, he listens to her when she talks, and he respects her opinions. Even when he pushes her away, he still considers the logic of what she tells him, and sometimes ends up doing things her way despite his initial instincts. This is something I do in my own life; I am easily overwhelmed by new information, so my initial response to an idea/activity is almost always a firm (and sometimes rude) “no,” until I have time to properly process and think about it. Hordak is the first person in Entrapta’s life that truly listens to her. He still has things he needs to work on, but it’s a lot better than how most of the princesses are with Entrapta. The Alliance treats her as someone to be managed -- she is useful, but unreliable. Hordak, in contrast, trusts her to get things done in her own way.
On the other side, Entrapta is the first person in Hordak’s life to accept him without judgment. Hordak spends so much of his energy putting up a front of strength and intimidation, and Entrapta cuts right through that. She’s not frightened by his appearance, and even his outbursts have little effect on her until the two of them start to bond. Entrapta doesn’t come into their interactions with any preconceived ideas of what Hordak is like, or more importantly, what he should be like. This lack of expectation leaves her completely open to accepting whatever Hordak does and says, and it also relieves Hordak of the burden of needing to put on a front around her. When Entrapta sees him at his most vulnerable, she reaches out to him with compassion, something he has never felt before. Entrapta also does this in a way that doesn’t belittle Hordak. His imperfections are not something to pity, they are a valuable part of who he is.
I loved watching their friendship develop. Entrapta and Hordak’s shared time together evolved slowly into a bond that gave each of them a sense of belonging they had never experienced before with anyone else. It gave me the hope that, despite what an oddball mess I am, perhaps I could find someone who understands me too.
When a romance subplot inserts itself into a story, I tend to gloss over and ignore it (if I pick up on it at all). I’m even less interested in sex. Way back when I was first getting into fandom I was so excited to go online and meet fellow fans of the books and shows I liked, only to discover the spaces being dominated by arguments over character pairings. I was baffled. This is what people are most interested in? Oh well… back to the hermit cave I go!
I was late to the party with SPoP. I’d watched a few episodes, but the show didn’t really hook me. This was partially because all I ever heard people talk about online was Catradora, and if that was the main appeal of the show, I wasn’t sure I would enjoy it (sorry Catradora shippers, romance is not going to entice me to watch a show, even if it’s rep). Quarantine was the ultimate cause for me embracing my curiosity and diving headfirst into SPoP, binging the entire thing a few months before the release of season 5.
I vaguely knew about Entrapdak as a ship going into the show, and I admit, had I not been primed for it, I probably would have missed the romantic potential entirely. In no way did I expect to become invested. I was immediately intrigued by their dynamic, and as they got closer, I found myself thinking “oh, I see why people ship these two.” I didn’t understand this realization until months later. I was relating to the characters, and for the first time in my life, I was relating to their relationship.
I headcanon Entrapta and Hordak as an asexual couple. I’ll elaborate on this at a later time (asexuality is a spectrum with a lot of nuance, and this post is plenty long already), but at the core of it, I find joy in imagining these characters in a loving platonic relationship, something I hope to find myself one day. I hope this love comes across in my artwork and in my fanfictions <3
To those of you that read this far, wow, you must be patient! Have an imaginary cookie! I hope this ramble has provided a decent picture for why I, as an aro ace on the autism spectrum, have come to cherish Hordak and Entrapta’s relationship. It’s my first and only OTP… I’m still in shock thinking about that… I guess we’ll see where things go from here!
Take care of yourselves out there!

On ADHD, Being Dramatic, and Being Lazy
Gather round everyone. It’s time for our every-few-monthsly post on ADHD by your local ADHD ghost. In this episode, we’re talking about ADHD and how it relates to “being dramatic” and “being lazy.”
On Being Dramatic
No doubt a lot of you have been told you’re being dramatic over the years. I know I have. There are a lot of reasons one might be dramatic, but they’re rarely about the drama.
If I’m to guess the origin of the word dramatic, I’d guess it probably has something to do with over exaggerating your response for the drama. I’m sure you’ve seen plenty of people being dramatic - on tiktok and vine, on youtube... drama calls for dramaticism.
Do you want to know what isn’t dramatic? Genuine reactions. That’s right - genuine reactions, inherently, cannot be categorized as dramatic or hyperbolic. There is nothing about them that is being overdone with the intention of getting attention or entertaining other people. So, let’s talk a bit about how this conflation has hurt us as a community.
Growing up, everything I did was “dramatic.” Crying because I didn’t want to do more chores was dramatic. Having a panic attack because there was a spider in the room was dramatic. Freaking out because I needed people to stop touching me was dramatic. Getting angry when my mother made jokes about my sex life as a teen was dramatic (and apparently abusive, but that’s neither here nor there). Nothing I did that involved a noteworthy amount of emotion was anything, if not dramatic.
On Being Lazy
I know a lot of you have also been labeled as lazy over the years. “Lazy” is the diagnosis everyone loves to give to those who don’t do enough, in their eyes. If you “could have” done something and then “chose not to,” you’re lazy... right?
Growing up, I was lazy too. I was lazy for avoiding housework. I was lazy for not wanting to brush my teeth. I was lazy because I didn’t turn in my homework. I was lazy for staying in bed, on my computer, most of the day.
If I’d only just “applied myself,” or if I would just “put in the work,” then I would be respectable to the people around me. But, because I wasn’t “willing” to put in the time and effort, I was lazy.
Why Is Emotion Dramatic?
The short answer is: it’s not. The real question is, why do people seem to perceive emotion as being dramatic? These are real emotions, after all - real and genuine feelings that are being dismissed as playacting. There are a number of reasons.
Why Are We Lazy?
Again, the short answer is: most people aren’t. The question here is, why do people see others not doing something and assume it’s because they simply don’t want to put in the work? Why do they not seek out an explanation or consider other alternatives? There are a number of reasons for that too.
The Answer...
Editing to put a Read More here because it’s very long
(TW for each of these sections in their name)
1. Sexism
At its core, seeing emotional outbursts or responses as dramatic is inherently rooted in sexism. Whether you’re a boy or a girl, man or woman, if your emotions are being mocked, it’s almost definitely because of our world’s history of sexism and relating emotion to women, who are “illogical” and “just want attention.”
And “real men” work! They work hard! They work long hours! They put themselves into an early grave, with pride, by never sitting down to rest! For this very reason, women, housewives of decades past, were expected, after a long day of doing housework and caring for the children - things that are just as exhausting as a full time job - to dote on their husbands who had just returned from work expecting a hot meal and a beer to be ready for them. Her work is devalued. It wasn’t grueling or tiring or important. It was just “women’s work.” A wife who does all of the housework and child rearing and fails to provide a hot meal and a warm body to her husband is “lazy.”
This is further shown to affect men as well. We can see, as early as non-manual labor-based jobs existed, the men who took them were lesser. Men who work at computers are seen as nerds and geeks - weak. Men who work in universities, coming up with new solutions to our medical needs and discovering the mathematics we need for space travel and advanced technology - they’re weak too. They’re unimportant to society because they’re not willing to get their hands dirty. Those men who prefer artistry are called gay and seen as disposable. It is irrelevant to the conservative man that his artistic counterpart designs everything that fills his home and office - that without artists we would have nothing.
2. Racism and classism
You might be surprised, but racism and classism both have their hands in this as well. I’m talking full on systemic oppression. The ability for people in power to look down on those they see as beneath them for being emotional or passionate about a topic or incident is all about power. You can see a million examples of this today. POC are called dramatic or are implied to be blowing things out of proportion by conservative white people because they want equal rights and feel they’re being treated unfairly. Their emotions are dismissed as irrational and dramatic.
The cries of the poor, whether white or of color, are mocked. They have no reason to be having the emotions they’re having because they wouldn’t be in the position they’re in if they weren’t “lazy.” After all, only lazy people don’t have money. Only lazy people can’t get work. If they had just “applied themselves,” they would have an income, a home, and ample food on the table.
3. Ableism
And, last but not least, we have ableism. The neurotypical and abled people of the world, at large, cannot understand the experiences of the disabled, both emotionally(those with mental illnesses, disorders, and so on(whether or not certain disorders can be categorized as a disability in a just society is another topic entirely, but they are regarded that way, generally)) and physically.
If you have sensory overload, you are being irrational. It doesn’t matter to a NT if this is caused by an actually chemically different response in your brain. It doesn’t matter if it’s Real To You. To them, it doesn’t make sense, and so you deserve no compassion for your experience. Your emotional response is dramatic.
If you have executive dysfunction, you are simply choosing not to do your work. It doesn’t matter that there is an actual reason, buried in you somewhere, for why you have become Stuck. It doesn’t matter if you feel crippled by this aspect of your life. They see that you have neglected to do something they deem easy. Therefore, you are “lazy.”
ADHD and Being Dramatic
For those of us with ADHD, being called dramatic is a very familiar experience. After a while, we begin to internalize it. We must be dramatic, right? After all, so many different people have told us we are - and for good reason. We do tend to get overly emotional.
So the question is, why? Why do we get overly emotional? Why are our emotions so much different than those of our NT peers?
1. Lack of Emotional Regulation
A big part of ADHD, which is not yet a diagnostic criteria, is our emotional disregulation. ADHD, inherently, comes with some amount of disregulation in our emotions. We have a hard time controlling the emotions that we feel and managing the intensity of them. They may come across as overly intense, or they may seem subdued, both for reasons we can’t possibly figure out as individuals. This disregulation is entirely out of our control, happening at a neurological level. Our brain chemicals don’t work as they should. But, no matter how unregulated our emotions are, they are still real. We do still feel them, exactly as intensely as we think we do. Disregulated does not mean made up.
2. RSD
If you knew about RSD before, or you’ve read my last post on ADHD (under my tag adhdghost), which has gained some popularity, you already know what this means. For those who don’t, RSD is short for Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria. This condition plagues something like 99.9% of people with ADHD (while not being ADHD exclusive.) It comes with the lack of emotional regulation and means we have a reaction, that seems out of proportion (or “dramatic”), relative to the thing that caused it.
In short, RSD episodes can look like an entire breakdown, a very sudden loss of any self esteem or confidence, the feeling that you are certain someone now hates you or has secretly always hated you, and/or an immediate need to get rid of the thing that caused it. These episodes are caused by any kind of perceived failure or disappointment. They can be caused by someone whose opinion or relationship we value who gives us a slightly judgmental look, someone saying they don’t understand why we like the thing we’re interested in, or even not living up to our own expectations. These episodes frequently lead to emotional outburts, episodes, breakdowns, and tears. Naturally, all of this is “dramatic,” despite it being very real and painful for those experiencing it.
3. Combination with Other Things
Emotional disregulation can interact with other parts of our lives as well. For instance, I have a lot of phobias. My reactions to seeing or being around the things that terrify me can be even more intense than how most people react to their phobias. They can cause anxiety attacks, emotional breakdowns, and lasting fear for hours or days after. My recovery from these instances is hindered by my inability to regulate the feelings they caused.
Emotional disregulation can also interact with triggers, trauma, sensory problems, etc.
ADHD and Being Lazy
And of course, if you struggle with ADHD, you want to know, “Why am I so lazy?” The answer is: you’re not! Laziness is a made up word. Laziness was created to pass blame onto people who struggle to do things that more typical people can accomplish with ease.
So, what is the reason we struggle to do these seemingly simple tasks?
1. Executive Dysfunction
This is The Big One. Of all the things that can cause an inability to do things, executive dysfunction is the Achilles heel of ADHD. Because ADHD causes a difficulty with prioritizing, rewarding actions with no immediate reward, and creating a list of steps for us to take (something that comes naturally to NT people), we sometimes get “Stuck.”
This feeling of being stuck may look like us just having fun and avoiding our responsibilities. You may be Stuck right now, scrolling through tumblr mechanically even though you’ve been needing to pee for three hours. Naturally, you’ve been wanting to go to the bathroom... you just don’t know how.
To a NT, this sounds ridiculous. “Just get up and go?!” I’m sure you can imagine your parents saying, when they simply don’t understand. The truth is, tumblr can be a nightmare for executive function. It endlessly scrolls, giving you post after post. There’s no natural stopping point. You keep an eye out for a natural end to this activity, but it’s hard to find the right post to stop on. If you find those, “This is your sign to go to bed,” posts helpful - otherwise locked into the activity of scrolling regardless of whether you want to - you might be struggling with executive dysfunction.
This inability to “queue” our actions or prioritize what we need to do, and in what order, can wreak all kinds of havoc in our lives. You remember you didn’t really understand that equation the math teacher explained earlier. You know today’s homework is related to its use. Therefore, you cannot start your homework. There are a number of possible solutions floating around your head. Maybe the book will explain it better. Maybe your parents know how to do this and you could ask them. Maybe you could Google it. It’s possible the homework is about something else. But, if it is, what if you don’t understand that? Maybe you should ask your teacher before class?
Even though you have all of these solutions in your head, because you don’t know which solution is the best solution, you find yourself unable to do any of them. You show up to class with no homework and your teacher gives you a disappointed look. “I don’t understand why you don’t just apply yourself more. You’re a very smart student.” The remark brings you to holding back tears, because you want, with every fiber of your being, to apply yourself and make your teacher proud, but you simply don’t know how.
This is the destructive nature of executive dysfunction, and it is not something to be taken lightly.
2. Distraction
For those with ADHD, the inability to regulate external stimuli makes focusing incredibly hard. You wake up one morning and plan to start that English paper after breakfast. You go to get yourself some cereal. You’re out of milk. You decide to make toast instead. You burn your toast because you lost track of time for just 30 seconds. You go to throw it away, feeling an overwhelming amount of guilt over the two pieces of bread you wasted. The trash is overflowing. You decide to take it outside. It’s a really nice day out. Maybe you should take your dog for a walk. You haven’t taken her on a walk in a while and you’re just now feeling motivated to, so you should take advantage of that. You go to retrieve your dog and take her for a walk. When you bring her back in, you go to get her treats from the shelf in the laundry room. Oh yeah, you’d been meaning to do laundry. You go to get your laundry hamper from your room and notice there’s a bunch of laundry on the floor. You begin picking up the laundry from the floor. You may as well tidy up the other things on the floor as well. You finally get around to taking your laundry to the washer. You’re out of soap. Maybe you ought to make a run to the grocery store. You take ten minutes to find your keys and wallet and then head out to the grocery store. When you get there, you’ve forgotten what it was you needed. “Oh, right! I’m out of milk!” You go and retrieve milk. When you get to the checkout and the cashier rings you up, you suddenly remember you need laundry soap. Well, it’s too late now. You’ll have to do laundry tomorrow. You can’t risk the cashier giving you a tired look by asking them to wait. You go home and make some cereal. You can’t really write while you eat, so you open tumblr. you scroll through tumblr for a while. Your cereal gets soggy, you notice, disappointed. You see a tumblr post reminding you that you forgot to order something important online that you need to get here as soon as possible. The day continues in this way until you finally realize at 5pm that you never started your paper. “It’s so late now... I’ll just start it tomorrow morning,” you tell yourself. Rinse and repeat.
If you relate to this, you might want to consider researching ADHD a bit, because this is a very typical ADHD experience.
3. Hyperfixation and Hyperfocus
The last prominent reason why people with ADHD are seen as lazy has to do with a cycle in hyperfixation and hyperfocus.
If you don’t already know, hyperfixations are those interests you have that fill you with an overwhelming love and which take up an incredible amount of your time, energy, and brain space. These could be fandoms, hobbies, characters, games, or otherwise.
Hyperfocus, on the other hand, can be related to hyperfixations or things that aren’t hyperfixations. Hyperfocus is when you get “locked in” on a task and can’t seem to put it down. If you started this post not knowing how long it was and find yourself still raptly reading, completely ignoring the world around you, you may have hyperfocused on it. If you ever start cleaning and just can’t stop until the whole house is clean, despite your lack of regularly cleaning for over a month, you are hyperfocusing on cleaning. If you write a 20k word fic in one night, you are hyperfocusing.
Hyperfocusing can leave you completely unaware of the world around you, causing you to neglect your own basic needs, such as food, bathroom breaks, water, and social interaction.
Because people with ADHD are able to occasionally apply themselves to such an extreme degree, NT people don’t understand why ADHD people are unable to apply themselves to other things as well. The reason we can’t is because we do not regulate our hyperfocus. Hyperfocus comes from tasks that are giving us serotonin, to make up for our brains inability to give serotonin in the way it should - in the way NT brains do. Emptying the dishwasher just felt really good. The next thing you know, you’re filling it with more dishes and wiping off counters and sweeping the floor and, “oh god, it looks so nice what if I just-” and then you move on to the laundry and the living room and the bedroom and then somehow 6 hours have passed. You don’t know how it happened, but now your house is clean and you feel amazing... but also tired and hungry. So you go make some food and then pass out on the couch.
So, when NT people see this kind of laser focus, they demand to know why you couldn’t do that simple math assignment, or why you haven’t been returning their texts, or why you couldn’t apply the same level of energy and enthusiasm on that really boring geography project. They demand to know why you’re so “lazy” the rest of the time.
There’s also the element of hyperfixation. It is the ultimate distraction. Your parents tell you to do the dishes and you say you will. Suddenly, you’ve found a fanfiction about your hyperfixation and you can’t stop reading it. It’s 60k words long and it will take you all day, but you’ll find a break to do your chores somewhere in there, right?
Your mom is suddenly knocking on your door what feels like 5 minutes later, but it’s been an hour. She wants to know why you didn’t do the dishes yet. You’re upset at yourself, but you lash out at her, because you’re unable to regulate your emotions. “I’ll do it in a minute!” you say loudly from behind your door. She walks off, irritated. You ask yourself why you can’t just do it now. Why does it feel impossible to tear yourself away? Your hyperfixation is the ultimate creator of hyperfocus. It rules you.
Before you know it, it’s midnight. You’ve finished the fic. It was amazing. You realize with dread that you still haven’t done the dishes, so you sneak out to the kitchen, hoping your parents have gone to bed. They have, but you find the dishes have already been done by someone else. Suddenly, you’re holding back tears from the RSD episode this has triggered. You ruined everything. You disappointed your parents. You’re a lazy and terrible child and they deserve better.
The truth is, you’re none of those things. In fact, you’re struggling with one of the most difficult mental blocks someone can have. But to others, you’re just making excuses. To others, you should have been able to just do the dishes and then go back to reading. But you know it’s not that easy. But why?
It’s ADHD, Babey!
If this post is hitting hard in a way that feels like your life is being splayed out before you, you might just have ADHD.
The fact is you are not dramatic and you are not lazy. You are struggling with a lot of ADHD symptoms that are making functioning in a neurotypical world incredibly difficult. This world was designed by and for NT people. Your worth is not based in how you live up to their expectations.
If you think you might have ADHD, it might be time to ask your doctor about getting an ADHD evaluation. Please check out my last post (the one i mentioned is under my tag adhdghost) to get more information on RSD and on getting evaluated.
An Important Note
Many experiences and struggles caused by ADHD are also present in other disorders. For example, RSD can be seen frequently in autism as well as in anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Sensory overload, emotional disregulation, executive dysfunction, and so on, can all be present in things other than ADHD. If you want to know if you fit the criteria for ADHD, go check out the criteria on the ADDitude website, which is a great source for ADHD related information.

All right, y'all, I've had enough with shitty society. I say we start a cult called "Actual Inclusivity."
Instead of the center of the cult's teachings being some manipulative bullshit, it's literally just love, acceptance, and respect.
We buy some land and start a communal living situation but instead of the money going up to whoever is on top and making them rich, all the money goes toward upkeep and improvement for the whole community. The finances are transparent and available for anyone to see and anyone shown to be corrupt or messing with the money gets kicked out.
We keep a farm to feed everyone. We have high speed wi-fi and some apartments (maybe with communal kitchens, maybe with private ones, idk logistics aren't my strong suit but I wouldn't be the only one running this, so we'd work out the kinks)
Everyone gets to do what they enjoy. Artists make art (and they could do commissions and freelance work and stuff like that to help raise money for the community in addition to art for art's sake), scientists can do their science thing, people who enjoy gardening can tend the farm. Tech people can do tech stuff (idk, I don't do much stem stuff, but we wouldn't be amish, so there'd be upkeep for tech stuff needed, so y'know). Whatever else. Autistic people can spend loads of time focused on their special interests. Non-verbals are not expected to talk. Depressed people or people with anxiety are not expected to work on days when getting out of bed is too difficult. Anyone having a panic attack or PTSD episode while working immediately gets to put down their work, walk away, and come back when they are again capable of giving their work their attention, be that in an hour or not until the next morning. Everyone uses whatever pronouns they prefer, and everyone else uses the appropriate pronouns when addressing or referring to them. If swearing makes someone uncomfortable, people will be expected to respect that and filter their language around them. Everyone gets to love whoever they want with zero societal repercussions. If two people want to get married, they get to. If two people want to live together without getting married, no prob (living together pre-marriage is against my religious beliefs, so I wouldn't do so, but that doesn't mean no one is allowed to. Live according to your own beliefs as long as they don't hurt anyone else. The goal here isn't to make everyone believe same thing or act the same way. It's to respect each other, and hopefully foster more understanding for others and lower discrimination and hate). In that vein, polygamy makes me feel weird, (admittedly, I don't really understand it,) but if some people in a polygamous marriage wanted to join us and were willing to follow the rules, great! Hop in! Let's even have a talk about it. You can help me be more understanding. No one is allowed to force their beliefs into anyone else and if someone feels pressured by someone else, all they have to do is say so and the other person will stop. I've had enlightening and wonderful conversations about religion with people of other religions/also atheists (once even with a drunk atheists and that was great). And all those conversations were great because in no way did they expect me to change my beliefs and vice versa. There was just a sharing of perspectives. And afterward, I felt like I understood them better and they understood me better. And that's what I'm aiming for here.
We can have a few sensory deprivation tanks and weighted blankets available for people with anxiety/PTSD. We can have tons of fidget toys for anyone who needs them to help them focus. We can have anything people need to function their best (I don't know much about what people with neurological disorders that I don't also have need, but whatever they need we'd have). Everything written is also written in braile. There's elevators and ramps in every building. Guide dogs and ESAs are accepted anywhere except in the space of people with animal allergies (Like, the communal areas are regularly cleaned to prevent hair causing allergic reactions and such and there are signs designating pet-free zones). We could maybe have like an animal shelter in a nearby town that anyone can come into to help with and spend time with animals. There would be a prayer room for quiet meditation (with whatever anyone needs for their best prayer environment, like I know Muslims pray toward Mecca and I don't know if there's any ornamentations or anything that they would prefer to have, but if so, it would be there). There'd be a gym to give people access to exercise equipment. There'd be a big old clock tower with bells to indicate prayer times for anyone who needs them. There would be a church building for use by any religious denomination. There'd be regular community activities to give people the chance to have leisurely social interaction and also sometimes exercise in small or large groups, but no one is expected to take part. Everyone with any form of neurodiversity or from any minority group gets to be treated fairly and have their needs accommodated.
No proving you have a disability like you have to to get accommodations from colleges. No one telling you it's all in your head or it's not natural or you should try harder or you just haven't met the right person yet or treating you as being under them for your gender or skin color or anything else you have no control over. Just actual acceptance on every front.
Basically, you'd pretty much be able to live your best life under the principle I learned as a kid: "your agency ends where the next person begins." As long as your actions do not harm anyone, you are free to do as you like.
The rules for living here? Everyone will be expected to contribute however they can (no punching a time clock, but contribute to the best of your ability). There will be no discrimination or hatred toward others. That's pretty much it. It's not that complicated. You will be expected to respect others and they will be expected to respect you. Any crime of any kind would be punished (and I mean things like theft, which I expect would be far less likely to happen given that everyone would have their basic needs fulfilled, and not like things like drug addiction because criminalizing addicts doesn't really prevent people getting addicted and just makes the problem worse.)
I figure the system would be run by committee. Any issues would be put to a vote, and given the size of the group, everyone would get a vote and everyone's vote counts. There would be no one person in charge of the community. Not me, not anyone. Everyone is equally in charge. Issues of things like accusations of discrimination would be handled by a court type situation where a mediator is chosen and both people get to explain what happened (in case of false accusations, which hopefully wouldn't happen, but y'know), and if the problem is based on a misunderstanding or an unchecked or unevaluated privilege, maybe the discussion alone could help the two people work it out, and if not, they get a big meeting with everyone there, and they get a chance to give their side to the group and the group votes on whether or not the accusation is solid and if the accused person will be punished (idk 100% how the punishment would work, but I figure depending on the severity it could be like a first offense would get community service and some kind of lesson in bridging cultural differences or something and a second offense would get something harsher and a third offense would be getting booted from the community. And then something like rape would get an immediate boot.).
Straight/white/cis/NT/any other non-minority people would also be accepted and welcomed so long as they treat everyone there with respect.
And anyone who says or does something homophobic or misogynistic or racist or ableist or anything else along those lines gets first a gentle warning and a chance to re-evaluate their prejudice and if they refuse to check themselves they get kicked out with whatever money they came in with.
I know that no matter what system is in use, there will always be someone ready and willing to find holes and take advantage. So we'd run on a spirit-of-the-law system instead of a letter-of-the-law system, and with everyone getting a say and everyone basing their decisions on that foundation of respect, it would be easier to enforce.
And sure, maybe this is just a fantasy-land-pipe-dream, but come on. How cool would it be? No more forcing our triangle or star or pentagon or splatter-shaped peg asses into circular holes? I don't believe in humanity at large to implement large-scale actual acceptance, but a little mini-society? That seems a little less impossible, right?
This is all spitballing, but the more I think about it, the more I love it. Feel free to add on.

biography.
a middle child belonging to christopher and imogen carmichael - two stanford professors. christopher specialized in british literature whilst imogen specialized in the classics. hence the name.
the order of siblings goes as such: lysander, elektra, juno, philomena, and twins orion & valora. the deal was that everybody had a greek (or in juno’s case, roman) first name and a middle name inspired by a piece of british literature circa 1800s and under. a family of nerds, if you will.
so, clearly - right off the bat, their parents are … eccentric. they’re both in love with their respected topic, and with each other, and with their kids. the carmichael family is a happy family.
they each have their own quirks and whatnot - though philly’s always been particularly dreamy - even as a child, she’d spend hours watching clouds or caterpillars or the leaves blow in the wind rather than play with other kids. she wasn’t a shy kid - she just had her own interests.
hardship doesn’t hit the family until philomena is five and starts having splitting headaches. they’re slow at first - but as soon as she’s seeing spots and unable to walk in a straight line, doctor appointments are made.
cancer tw // it doesn’t take long for them to discover the tumor, though the official diagnosis of malignant ependymoma comes a month later.
it’s grade ii but slow-moving, small enough to not be as much of a threat as worried, but big enough where removal is necessary. philomena earns a scar and brings it in for show-and-tell. for two months afterwards, philly’s at radiotherapy monday through friday.
they’re lucky - philomena’s considered cancer-free by the next year. she’s babied at first - handled delicately, as if she could break if touched - but with five other children … it doesn’t last for too long. end of cancer tw //
and life continues as normal.
her personality doesn’t shift much over the next few years - she’s awfully independent for a kid, and awfully quiet - when she speaks it’s about faeries and bigfoot, about how the sky is so blue and if you listen quietly, you can hear the leaves whisper their secrets to each other. this is not odd.
she’s close to all her siblings, but she idolizes her older sister - elektra. elektra’s six years older and dyes her hair whatever colors she wants. elektra bought a knife off a seedy guy downtown. elektra threw away all of her heels and renounced god. elektra is god. her music is loud but it’s not heavy - it’s florence and the machine.
they’re opposites - elektra’s boisterous and feels loudly, philomena’s softer and feels…less. when elektra sneaks out, philomena keeps watch. they are a duo.
philomena is smart - but she’s fifteen and hates school. hates sitting inside all day. hates the same routine - day after day - it’s all the same. her parents’ routine is the same, philly feels contained and she wants to live.
elektra’s twenty-one and just bought a brand new spanking (used but not falling apart) 19-something volkswagen … van - using her entire savings account. she says she’s tired of routine, she’s leaving the next day.
naturally, philomena stows away in the back and isn’t discovered until they’re two states away and she’s got to pee. elektra nearly crashes the van in shock.
it’s an argument - philomena vs. elektra, then them vs. their parents, then their parents vs. the school, the state - it’s an ordeal. philomena switches to an online program in the end.
it hurts christopher and imogen - lysander’s not having any of their nonsense, juno’s betrayed and alone - the twins are twins. in the end, it’s alright. the carmichael family is a happy family.
philomena and elektra take their time - it’s not a road trip, it’s their new life, permanently on the road. they stop and explore often - they do odd jobs in whatever town they settle in. they dine-n-dash, they shoplift. they survive in their own way.
during particularly desperate times, they two resorted to identity theft & credit fraud - getting away with it only by ditching the cards once they’ve made it out of state.
she drops out of high school officially when she’s seventeen - they have to drive all the way back to california to deal with the wrath of their parents and to deal with paperwork, but it’s done. philomena doesn’t know what path she wants in life - but it’s not that.
depersonalization / derealization tw // it’s during this time that the episodes occur - philomena’s outside her body, philomena’s wrapped in cotton, her memories are not her own. she’s looking in the mirror and she doesn’t recognize herself. they take shelter in a city for six months, long enough for her brand spankin’ new therapist to figure out what’s wrong with her. she’s diagnosed with depersonalization / derealization disorder - they think it’s stress. philomena doesn’t get stressed. they think it’s trauma. she laughs - she never laughs. depersonalization / derealization end of tw //
death, decay. maggots tw // there is trauma though, deep-rooted but somewhere inside - you just have to look for it.
you. just. have. to. look. for. it. look for it. look for it. look for it look for it look -
you were ten and she was thirteen, an off-trail hike in familiar woods in a familiar town, safe and familiar. it was your idea, to stray from the carved out paths, down creeks and up hills and round, and round again. you’re the one who spotted the scarf first, sticking up from the dirt and dancing in the wind like the beginning of reincarnation. it was not reincarnation, it was discovery. it was ruin. with curiosity drawn, you skidded down - with compliance, followed juno, followed your sister - clumsy in her steps and tumbling down quicker than you. you saw the corpse, but juno felt it. decaying flesh and maggot. end of death, decay, maggots tw //
and she left juno, just like that - just five years later, when juno had finally gone to the end of her wits. philly up and left. abandoned her.
philomena and elektra leave the city after that therapy session. they do not return. she’s always been good at hiding her secrets.
after ending up with warrants from their arrest in florida (after running from the law in texas), philly and elektra have wound up at irving <3 partially hiding from the law and partially bcos their trusty van’s broken down and they haven’t got the money to fix her up yet.
personality & facts.
she’s quiet but she’s confident - her voice sounds like rustling leaves, if leaves smoked a pack of cigarettes a day.
often underestimated - philly’s petite and looks like she’d fall over if a plastic bag blew too close to her. she’s independent - for the most part. elektra is the only person philly takes orders from.
has always been considered odd - weird, strange. still talks about the trees as if they’re listening, as if they’re old friends. she’s vague and doesn’t elaborate on the things she says.
believes in pretty much any superstition you throw her way. luck is very important to her. if you ask her if the earth is flat, she’ll say probably. believes strongly in bigfoot and the lochness monster. has personally seen aliens, and loves ghosts almost more than herself.
she can be amusing - whether you ‘get’ her or not, her outlook is often bright - she talks about the negatives the same way she talks about the positives. can be seen as naive or gullible, but she’s plenty smart. even if half of her education has come directly from google.
philly doesn’t laugh. a smile, yes - often, in fact - not always reaching her ears, or bearing teeth - but these are not indicators of her happiness. philly is consistently content. she thinks many things are funny - she still will not laugh.
her voice is often monotonous - she doesn’t sound dreary, she sounds far-away. her voice carries. her emotions are often unknown to others.
is apathetic in most situations. she’s hard to bother - she’s incredibly patient and enjoys the company of most - tolerates them at the very least. it’s hard for her to express her emotions, because she feels them so little that it’s very nearly not worth it. her affection is not verbal - it’s small touches and gestures of kindness, love in her own way.
is a fan of knock-knock jokes and bad puns. she won’t crack a smile while telling you them, nor does she expect you to laugh. she just enjoys them.
she owns a motorola razr covered in puffy stickers - hasn’t ever had a smartphone. she’s a fan of emoticons. her favorite is :o)
has a lot of bruises and scratches and scars - she’s often getting herself into pickles. there are always, at the very minimum, three bandaids on each hand.
she has insomnia, so she’s awake often. is often seen wandering town - even when she shouldn’t be, even when it might be dangerous. her intuition is delayed. when she does sleep - her dreams are vivid and fantastical.
keeps a box of memories - sentimental bits and pieces she’s picked up over the last few years. there are a lot of buttons and postcards, but any teeny tiny object will do.
her style changes every week - most, if not all, of her clothes are thrifted. one week she’s baby spice and the next she’s lydia deetz. she combines pieces from different styles often - she looks like a barbie clothed by a child. she feels most comfortable like this.
will either patch-up the clothes that get too worn or reuse them in some way. sometimes donates the clothes she gets tired off - isn’t minimalistic, but she’s learned to keep only a small amount of possessions.
the only consistency is her lucky ribbon - it’s pastel yellow and silky and as thin as a shoelace. she ties it onto her outfit of the day, everyday. if she loses it, she’s lost. elektra has a matching ribbon.
has no problem with minor theft - she only takes bare minimum, puts herself and elektra first and that’s how it’s always been.
currently living in florence, their van, with her sister elektra <3 currently residing in lilac ridge.
they used to live in motels on the occasion, the cheapest room, and more often than not they’d both go home with strangers for a comfier bed and a hotter shower.
it was a common occurrence - she didn’t sleep with them - but somehow, she weaseled her way into their homes anyway. has come out mostly unscathed, on most occasions. this has been a practice ever since they’ve been on the road.
really, truly - has not slept with anybody, had her first kiss at thirteen with a frog. this doesn’t bother her. (smirks at leo)
will consume anything you put in front of her - isn’t picky.
listens to whatever they’ve picked up along the way but she likes instrumentals the best. her second favorite genre is 1990′s and 2000′s top hits. they’re nostalgic for her. third favorites? florence, of course. fleetwood mac. the bird and the bee.
loves storms - will go out in the rain and will risk her life for it.
owns a pair of roller-skates and is often skating rather than walking. unless she’s on grass - then she’s walking barefoot.
has many hobbies, and gets bored of them often. her favorite hobby is welding. she’s not certified.
also, juggling.
also, accordion.
the kind of girl who’ll do any job you give her. odd jobs are her favorite jobs. babysitting is her least favorite - but she does it anyway. has lost children before. have they ever been found? not by philly.
dyes her hair blonde often and cuts her own hair - bangs included - finds it cathartic, likes the itchiness of bleach.
everything she does is often in pursuit of feeling free, alive, and meaningful.
( like her frequent visits to the woods, late at night when the moon is high and full. it’s freeing to dance around a fire, stark naked in the cold. builds immunity )
comes and goes wherever she pleases, nothing & nobody can stop her (besides elektra).
has a certain knack for getting animals to like her. has too many ‘pet’ rats that reside with her, alongside a baby raccoon & a few crow pals. has a new animal companion everyday, but she doesn’t contain them or force them to stay.
wanted plots.
speaking through my third eye ... ;; philly is new in town n shes very strange. constantly lives in a state in which she does not exist (at least on the same plane). this is her harassing the locals. this is her slipping thru their fingertips as they attempt 2 understand her. they get close smtms bt philly jst. whisks herself away.
hollows of our eyelids ... ;; perhaps there is smbdy jst as strange as philly. i’m out here calling fr all the weirdos. lets be friends. lets hv philly n co go on adventures n discover horrible sites n uncover ancient secrets tht lie deep below irving. mayb nt tht. bt im jst saying. this is fr the dreamers. da weirdos. the jugheads. LHKDSHFSADLKGFHLSKADG fr those who also feel as if they r not real.
bills n aches n blues... ;; ya this is my call fr all negative plots. bills (catching philly be a thief and a fraud), aches (mayb heartache? unrecruited feelings or w/e theyre called?), n blues (ooooh so sad... so sad ... angst ...) obviously i am a genius. i wldnt say tht philly is here 2 make enemies bc philly doesnt care much abt ppl bt perhaps tht cld b an issue. tht she doesnt care much abt others. mayb ur muse is jst like. cn u pls care. n philly is like. i am incapable. sry. sucks.
n also ,, ;; like. anything i’ll. take anything. philly is weird lets come up w surreal plots tht verge on the edge of like. nt being correct fr this verse. suddenly theres vampires? or so they think ... smirks. anyways. shes been 2 jail n been in the circus (shoutout 2 kirby) n dances naked in the woods n hoards animals n treasures. we hv a lot to work with here obv.

I have just discovered some Finnish dramas on Netflix, and it’s nice that the subtitles reflect more of what’s being said (as opposed to being dubbed), but would you have any idea why not all dialogue is subtitled…?
Ah that's another thing I've noticed with Finnish shows and subtitling/captioning!
The ones that come to mind immediately are Sorjonen (English-language title: Bordertown) and a little web series called Luottomies (Wingman). From what I can catch if I watch either with English subtitles, yeah, whatever is expressed in Finnish tends to be expressed in English subtitles as well.
I haven't watched Sorjonen with Finnish subtitles/captions yet, but Luottomies does have the patterns I've noticed of the subtitles/captions not reflecting what's actually being said. We would watch certain episodes for my class and do activities with them; one of the things I usually did was to find a little section of dialogue and listen to it over and over again so I could record in writing the subtitle/caption, the translation, and then what was actually said. Here's one I did:
Tekstitykset (Subtitles):
Myyjä: Hei! Mitä sais olla? (Seller: Hi! What'll [it] be?) Tommi: Hei. Synttärikakku nimellä Mäkinen-Renwall. (Tommi: Hi. Birthday cake for [name] Mäkinen-Renwall.) Myyjä: Hetkinen. (Seller: Just a moment.)
Puhuttu (Spoken):
Myyjä: Hei. Mitä se teille sais olla? (Seller: Hi. What'll it be for you?) Tommi: Hei! Eeh Mäkinen-Renwall nimellä synttärikakku. (Tommi: Hi! Er, [name] Mäkinen-Renwall has a birthday cake.*) Myyjä: Hetki pien’. (Seller: One moment.)
*The re-arranged word order works in Finnish but not in English, so this is my next-best approximation for English, albeit a tad awkward.
It's not like the dialogue would have made the subtitles/captions too long, there's minimal difference between the two sets.
I honestly don't know why these alterations are made. I don't understand why what's actually spoken wouldn't be rendered in writing verbatim, especially if there is plenty of space and/or timing in the frames and scenes to do so. I can't make sense of it.
I've noticed this too in the film Amélie (which I mentioned in another answer). There's one scene where she's in a cinema watching a film, and she says a couple of things that stand out:
English Subtitle: I like noticing little details that no one else sees. Spoken French: Puis j'aime bien repérer le petit détail que personne ne verra jamais. Closer Translation: And I really like to spot the little detail(s) that no one will ever see.
English Subtitle: But I hate it in old movies when drivers don't watch the road. Spoken French: Par contre j'aime pas dans les vieux films américains quand les conducteurs regardent pas la route. Closer Translation: However, I don't like [it] in old American films when [the] drivers don't watch/look at the road.
Here too I don't understand the discrepancies. The second quote is actually what got me to start paying attention to dialogue vs subtitles years ago. It irked me so much because English and French have a lot in common, and can take up very similar amounts of space and timing in film. Some things don't directly translate between the two, but more things do than I think many people generally realise. The English translations have stood out as misrepresentative and skewed to me since. There was no reason to omit words, intensify the emotions, or create nuance where there needn't be any.
The last one I can think of is the Swedish-Danish series Bron/Broen (The Bridge), and it happens a lot in this that entire lines of dialogue just aren't subtitled/captioned/translated. I can't remember the specific episode I'm thinking of right now, but I still haven't been able to get the missing dialogue. Pretty sure it was Swedish and Danish dialogue too.
I don't know if the dialogue was deemed 'unimportant' for some reason and intentionally left out, if it maybe was included but there was a technology issue that caused it to go missing and it hasn't been fixed, if something else happened that I don't know...I don't know. But it drives me mad whenever I rewatch the series. Characters are clearly reacting to the dialogue at times, but my audio processing and grasp of Swedish and (especially) Danish aren't strong enough to catch it yet.
I think the only kind of explanation I've been able to form is that it may be an autistic/non-autistic thing, or more broadly an ND/'NT' thing. I know that my being ND and particularly autistic influences how I view language and translation, and why I'm a firm supporter of the most verbatim translations possible. I want to know the base information so that I can analyse, interpret, and infer on my own.
Too many of the subtitles/captions/translations I see, though, look like someone else's interpretation of dialogue. Sometimes this can help if there are unspoken things that need to be coded into words a certain way in order to work across languages. Interpreting and translating objectively from a sociocultural framework makes perfect sense. But usually I just end up with more work to do to identify and remove a bias. I have to shift to the source language and sometimes learn enough of that in order to translate on my own, and/or just understand the dialogue in that language and bypass needing a translation entirely.
Maybe many non-autistics and 'NTs' are fine with another's interpretation as their guide. Maybe they don't even think about it or realise, especially if they're adding their own interpretations and inferences onto it, making things more and more indirect. I don't know.
But that's the most I've been able to suspect. Otherwise, subtitles/captions/translations that do not match dialogue seem a bit shoddy to me.

Day 6 ..Friday          Struggling .. which is why i did nt see the news or spend time on Social Media yesterday..          I thought it would be a breeze and after a little concentration id have it down .. but no , even the first part…known as lumpedy lump was proving tough , because of the triplet  walk up from the V to the 1.. and i think thats the part Jimmy Reed himself is playing…   If you ve read previous episodes you will know i refer to Honest I Do….the song.   Im learning it on a You Tube lesson , now a lot of people who think of themselves as pros , seem to think there s some sort  of stigma ro learning stuff on You Tube, but i know a French guy , of Spanish descent , who is a really hot Flamenco guitarist who has mastered nearly all the Palos , and all on You Tube  They are right, if you dedicate yourself to different songs at the same time, but it s like working form home…you need time and discipline ..and take the lessons very slowly and don’t move on till you can play it 20 times with your eyes shut..preferably standing up .. then move on up. Yesterday  was the first time i managed to do this.   There is a different tone on Social media today .. angrier , more prone to blame others, more censorious…and on one group forum i saw they were going to ban Humour..well , i don’t personally know the Group leader.. but it does nt take much imagination to know she s not someone you d want to be quarantined with.    The only thing to fear is fear itself.. well i certainly don’t think that applies in this situation, quite the reverse, the more frightened we are the less we will venture forth on errands that are not strictly necessary..i was on my way out the door , literally, when my mobile rang…it was the charming woman from the bank.. she d got my message .. id gone way over my limit.. which was why i could nt withdraw funds…She , and i won’t name her, is working from Home and sorted it all out on her laptop..no need for me to go to town..      Is nt that great?..well , I thought it was..and a good thing too,as she has not been provided with any masks..and we are talking about a Bank..if they cant get basic stuff like that no wonder the Government  are nt testing people .. they don’t have the wherewithal…it is nt as though this has nt been on the News everyday since December the something.    .I remember listening to Radio Four as i was driving through Slough, in December,… don’t ask … the M4 was closed..and i was listening to a woman in Wuhan describing how her parents were dying in the Street.. that really got my attention.   It did nt seem to get the attention of the people in charge here however, as when the inevitable arrived nearly three months later , they had done nothing to prepare for it.   The Spanish Disease is politics, it creeps into every corner of life and spreads its poison , a bit like you know what,..and in the past when people got fed up with their venal politicians there was a Military Coup , and then they realised maybe life was better before with democracy … and the cycle starts again. This model has been exported successfully to Latin America.. with the possible  exception of Mexico. and Costa Rica   Its all very well for us stodgy Northerners with our bad weather , to criticise, but Sun affects people, and when things are good they seem so much better  in the Sunshine..but something about Sunny weather produces Volatility, and an @ i won’t fix the roof as its not raining @ World View… and Italys  colossal death rate is the price to be paid .. not that it is nt sunny in China..or South Korea..but they do a lot more than just fix the roof..and to put  it down to Confucianism .. well  maybe best not to start on that.   Australia will be interesting, they have lots of sun , but its a pretty organised place ..and i don’t see them making this sort of Balls up.. also they have the experience of natural disasters,,and pulling together, and will not let Politics interfere…any country that had leaders with  names  like Abbott and Costello doesn’t waste too energy on petty politics.  The Current Classic example of petty minded, spiteful, pointless,  negative ,oppurtunism , is the  attempt on social media and what sup groups to denigrate the Royal Family organising people to rattle saucepans at a given time, because apparently the current King s father had a rather large amount of money in a Swiss Account..well, it was Saudi Money , not money stolen from the Spanish taxpayer, unlike the billions stolen by the previous administration , the PP .The idea for this stupidity was inspired by the Custom of applauding the Medical profession every night at eight o clock.. an excellent morale boosting , bringing everyone together kind of gesture..well everything has its opposite and this is an excellent way to breed more discontent and fracture an all ready pretty fractured society.. it beggars belief and you really have to have lived here to see these Barca Madrid  idiocies at first hand.   Barca Madrid is a term used to describe the divide and conquer ,us and them , attitudes that have stopped Spains progress since the collapse of their Empire, culminating in the most vicious Civil War in recent European History, and one would have hoped  that after 40 plus years of Democracy it would have disappeared , but sadly, like in the USA and a lot of other democracies , it seems to be on the increase. The anger on Social Media which results from the claustrophobic frustration of a lockdown will hopefully not boil over into something with unpleasant political consequences, which would be very sad , as after Francos death and the adoption of constitution that is the envy of many countries, Spain was a beacon of hope in the last quarter of the 20 th century… how the mighty are fallen .. one hopes not.. SPANISH LOCKDOWN DAY  7   Slept really well , but then  I remember reading that people on Death row sleep 16 hours a day so possibly not a good sign.   Last Night i watched the Spanish news ,on the main channel and things are looking up , relatively speaking, in the sense that testing has arrived ..someone, or some country, has sent several thousand, or may be half a million test kits.. which is obviously excellent news , and testing in  Galicia is going full steam ahead. There was the obligatory item about a vaccine..which I think one can take with a pinch of salt. .Military erecting field hospitals next to various main hospitals…the eight o clock applause of medical staff…all in all well put together not too desperately pessimistic, and generally not as disheartening as Facebook.. afterwards i felt like some light relief so we watched eleven episodes of 2 and half men,  in Spanish ,to cheer ourselves up before going to bed.   ..   Today i decided to live a normal day .. if such a thing were possible , so , after taking Tina for a walk i got the Old TV and DVD working and put on Marty Schwarz s Intermediate Blues Guitar Course part one…and it started raining .. so that was encouraging as it took away any temptation to venture outside.. except for firewood that is.   I worked through the course without rushing , but also without too much pausing , as i d done those lessons before, and all that repetition of Honest I do  is paying off..   On going outside for firewood i could not ignore the noise of the generator that kicked in yesterday evening, as we ve had not Sun for several days, so i decided to fill it up with diesel, and see how much 15 hours constant running had used, only half the 20 litre can to fill  up the tank…but was it full to begin with?..anyway it s very rare to have 4 days without sun , so even if it did use  13 euros of diesel  Im not going to freak out as that was expensive diesel.. and I’m entitled to use the cheaper stuff .Of cause i spilled Diesel over my hands , and shoes , and when i spent a good 5 minutes trying to wash the smell out i realised this was the ultimate anti virus test.. so i will leave a bowl of Diesel outside every time i go to town and use that as first part of the disinfection process , yet another excuse not to go to town.    My neighbour M.  rang and suggested i look at his scheme on Facebook to institute Food Deliveries , so one does nt have to go to the Supermarket in person  and infect and be infected… a good idea of course , but like so many , i don’t see it happening…I pointed out several objections , lack of drivers, expense, one would need a sort of Uber program which will probably not be ready for a year .. etc..and the Supermarkets are making so much money i doubt they need this sort of input.I promised to look at it later , which I will , as Lunch was ready.   We ve run out of  Bread ,Oranges and Chocolate, Aurora has broken a nail and the nail bars are closed till further notice…but otherwise  we can probably get through till Monday without suffering too much ..on the other hand Monday is probably the worst day to go shopping..Im toying with the idea of going to the small Supermarket, at 8 am Sunday morning, and hopefully having it to myself , as i cant face the idea of a queue. I know English people are supposed to love queueing but i must be an exception, and queuing nowadays is a High Risk Activity.    The Sun is out and i did one of the jobs from a month old to do list… pumping the water out the flooded pump room , it all went very well , and i felt  very worthy , and now , with the Sunshine it s time for a walk , with Tina , of course.   I return , feeling optimistic .. and the phone rings, i assume it s my neighbour asking if I’ve read his article.it isn’t , it s C another near neighbour, with some very bad news .  The police are in Quarantine…and the Army will soon be here. No Tobacco..as they will close the Tobacconist.  A completely different ball game  I rang M, and gave him the news…I f he d had  a kalashnikov  he d have been checking the magazine  I rang another neighbour  F, whose office is next to the Police Station , to warn him. .When the Rumour , comes to your Town , It Grows and Grows, Where it Started No-one Knows…*Robbie Robertson   I rang my source in the Town Hall G…no , it s only one cop , and he has nt got the results yet..   I rang M  again…he had spoken to his friend who is a Guardia Civil .no , it was nt a Cop it was a Guardia Civil..he also told me the Cuban woman who cleans houses had been stopped, by the Police and they checked the receipt for her shopping    I rang the first neighbour and corrected the original story        I opened Facebook .. and there was the original story , which had started a firestorm of comments along the likes of whats your source? etc as though we were in the Watergate hearings, not only that,  the people reading the story imagined it referred to Mojacar , not Carboneras , and were all frantically ringing the Police Staion , The Town Hall and each other to see if it were true.    The tones of the respective comments went from shrill outrage that anyone should suggest such a story without due documentation , to fear , to I knew this would happen, all these irresponsible idiots .. blah blah   It began to increasingly resemble an episode of Dads Army with a false alarm about a German Landing.., which Facebook does anyway    There is the Captain Mainwaring..@While i was out today making sure everyone was behaving themselves i saw these irresponsible panic shoppers,  and these people walking around without a good reason @     The Fraser .. We Re Doomed     The Air raid Warden…Its all the fault of the Ruling Class, and rules are rules etc     Jones ..Dont Panic... in a tone of complete hysteria    Pikes mother…Be sure to wear your gloves , motorcycle helmet , hazchem suit, mask..galoshes, .Do you have your hand sanitiser , all clothes must be burnt on reentry etc     By this time Auroras original alarm had been replaced by hilarity, as she was sitting by the fire hearing one side of these conversations..     I went out for some more wood and we relaxed by watching a Documentary about the Boeing 737 MAX..complete with simulation in the Pilots cockpit    The best part was the CEO of Boeing trying to justify his 30 million Dollar salary at a Congressional hearing..…i wondered what the Shareholders thought about that , i know what the victims families thought , as they were being interviewed and did nt sound too impressed

The Just King’s Court Part II
Pairing: Edmund Pevensie x Meriel of Archenland
Masterlist
Warnings: None, does mutual pining count? | Words: 2833
A/N: Just in case I need to elaborate but NT1010 is 10 years after the Battle of Beruna so Edmund is 20. Also, I wrote this on my phone (a first for me) while having an insomnia episode (just like today) so... I just thought I’d mention that. This will be a limited series, probably 4 parts.
PART I
Tumblr media
NT 1010
Five years after the destruction of the White Witch’s Castle, a small group of sympathisers to her cause gathers traction in the secret of night. King Edmund the Just is charged with quelling this group of renegade Narnian’s that threaten to disrupt the hard-earned peace he and his siblings worked to establish. With tensions running high across Narnia’s borders, the Pevensie’s have to ensure an absolute win, or else risk looking weak to their more aggressive neighbouring countries. After surviving an attack with his troops, Edmund meets the beguiling and skilled shield maiden Meriel of Archenland.
***
"That was some ingenuity, quick thinking too. Where did you learn of such a thing?" Edmund asked as he walked back into camp, one arm helping the other pry itself loose of his gloved armour.
"Archenland, sire. My father was a blacksmith and a farmer. We used to rely on such contraptions when the ice would threaten to freeze all our crops. Which was every year."
Edmund halted, turning to look at Meriel with a contemplative thought that held some humour and surprise to it, "Farmers? I didn't expect that from someone as skilled with a shield and blade as you."
Meriel, having never conversed so easily with a noble let alone her King, was dishevelled by his casual demeanour around her. She was unprepared for such high words of praise.
"T- Thank you, sire."
Edmund gave her a delicate smile. It was small and easily overlooked if not for their proximity to one another. Mariel felt the genesis of a blush start to form around her cheeks and neck. She turned to the side to focus her attentions on the troops disarming themselves.
"My King," Oreius bowed. "The scouts bring news of another enemy outpost to the west, it appears what stragglers have evaded us here will head for the forests to regroup."
"Where are the scouts now?" Edmund asked as he worked on his other arms braces.
Oreius pointed to the high peak where the Griffin's took purchase. Edmund sighed with fatigue.
"Tell one of the men to fetch Philip," he ordered one of the soldiers in earshot.
"My lady," he excused himself. "Till next we meet upon the battlefield. May Aslan show favour on your blade."
"And to you, sire."
As Meriel made her way to her tent, Edmund spoke once more, "Oh, Shield Maiden. I am always open to hearing more from my soldiers. And to the Lady who brought us out victory today, my tent will always be open to you if you ever desire to aid us with our war plans with your astute eye and prodigious ideas. As will my ear."
This time it was Edmund’s turn to bow and Meriel felt a piece of Edmund’s courtly-armour chip away. She felt like a woman who had been in talks with another man, rather than a commoner in talks with a King. Such a prospect felt equalising yet oh, so dangerous.
Meriel couldn't afford to swoon over mere notions of familiarity. No matter how much her heart seemed to ache when she explained it away as a one-time affair. She had just saved her King from sudden death after all. Anyone would be more welcoming to the person that save their life. Pride crowned itself on her head at such a thought. A part of her wondered if they'd give her a grandiose title as a reward. Perhaps they'd call her the Just Champion. Meriel laughed at such a vain thought, but some part of her wished it to be true.
***
One Month Later
Edmund needed solitude. He needed time away from the sound of metal works and stomping hooves and moaning wounded. He needed to think, so he informed his generals he was to take a turn around the bordering woods under the guise of scouting. They had protested, but he was King and with that title came an affordance of power of which he used the most of in this case. Oreius, however, was ever the astute guardian, he had compromised to allow him to go if Meriel would stay by his side.  He trusted few with Edmunds life, but Meriel had more than proven herself. A show of true strength that would never cease to amaze him. Edmund also wondered if Oreius had caught wind of his growing fondness for the shield maiden.
"It's so peaceful out here," Meriel said.
Edmund hummed in agreement, "it's a place where one can truly be alone with their thoughts."
"Alone?" Meriel asked. "If you desire I can hold back, allow you more room to breathe."
"There's no need. For some reason, when I'm around you, the world has a way of quieting down. You make it seem peaceful, “Edmund told her freely, pretending as though those words didn't have a much greater gravity to them than either of them realised.
They rode for what seemed like hours, few words exchanged and yet the feeling of comfort seemed only to grow. And then they were set upon by an enemy scouting party. It was to be an ambush. In haste, they made their way back to the nearest posting of soldiers, their horses galloping nervously.
When Meriel and Edmund were halfway to the outpost, she noticed Edmund bring his horse to a halt.
"Woah, Philip!" He patted his horse’s neck.
"Edmund, why have you stopped?" The look of defiant glee that spread across Edmund’s face when she called him by his name, and not his title, did not escape her.
"The horses are getting tired. They'll catch up to us before we reach the outpost," he explained as he dismounted. "Take Philip with you and Bastien, ride for the outpost. I'll hold them off until you return."
"Edmund, I cannot in good conscience allow you to endanger yourself like this. If anyone should stay, it should be me!" Meriel spoke with urgency, composure be damned.
Edmund’s eyes narrowed at her offering to stay behind in his stead, something protective lingering in his gaze," I am your king and this is my order. Now go! "
Edmund grabbed his sword and shield from his saddle.
Meriel begrudgingly grabbed onto Philips reigns and turned her horse around. She knew Edmund was a skilled warrior; untouchable with a sword and shield and fearsome with two swords.
"Ed!" She garnered his attention before throwing her sheathed sword at him. "You fight better with two swords. Stay alive!"
Edmund smiled after her as she raced away with the cold look of determination in her eyes.
Edmund placed his shield on the ground as he welded both swords against the horde of enemies making their way closer.
"Hyaaaa!" Meriel shouted in panic as she and a dozen soldiers made their way back to where she last saw Edmund.
When she saw him, she had to clench on the reigns to keep her wits about her.
Edmund, having taken on several enemy soldiers, was clenching the side of his now blood-soaked shirt while fighting off an overzealous fawn with one hand.
Meriel decided now wasn't the time for shows of gallant knightly hood and charged after them on her horse.
"Edmund," she alerted him as she bent down halfway, her hand reaching out for his from the side of her horse.
Edmund reacted instantly by kicking his opponent far enough away from him to spare the time to sheath his sword and grab onto her hand as he hoisted him up to sit behind her.
"Are you hurt?" Meriel asked.
"Barely, any longer and it could have been worse," he brushed her concern aside as they raced back to camp, leaving their soldiers to finish off the rest.
When they were alone, Edmund squeezed her shoulder in an effort to get her slow down, "Meriel, wait."
She complied.
"Is it your wound?"
"I just need a moment," he dismounted with great difficulty. Meriel got down first and helped him off her horse.
"What is it?" She asked.
"I just..." Edmund searched for the right words but he felt it easier if he just showed her. Before he knew it, Edmund had placed his bloodless hand on her cheek and brought her lips to meet his own in a tender, long-awaited kiss.
Meriel's breath stopped short in shock at first, but then Edmund felt her relax and begin to unravel against his tongue.
When their kiss broke, her cheek ran flush while Edmund struggled to feed his hungry lungs with air without resorting to panting.
"What was--" Meriel didn't finish her sentence, too flustered to be her usual well-guarded self.
Edmund smirked at that.
"Let's just say taking on several foes at once at great risk to myself made me realise how long I've wanted to kiss you, and how little time I want to spend pretending there isn't something between us."
Meriel was at a loss for words, "something between us..." she repeated.
"There is, isn't there?" Edmund searched her eyes. "I know you feel it too. Tell me I'm not alone in this."
Meriel tried to speak but all she accomplished was a trembling stutter of vowels.
"Please, I'm begging you," Edmund clasped his hand around hers, the motion somehow causing his side to flinch in pain. "For once, throw duty and expectations aside and tell me what it is that your heart truly desires."
Meriel caved under the weight of his fragility, "I feel it too. I've always felt it. Since the moment we met on that battlefield."
Edmunds face beamed with joy despite the increasingly pale look caused by his blood loss.
"That's a relief," he sighed as though he finally let the weight of the world go before placing a kiss on Meriel's forehead.
"Where do we go from here?"
Edmund chuckled, "A healer would be preferable. I may have underestimated the extent of my injuries."
Meriel helped him back onto the horse, but not before applying a tunicate with a little too much pressure.
"Ow," he winced. "Did you have to tie it so tight?"
This time it was Meriel's turn to smirk, "Think of it as an incentive to never do something so rash again."
Edmund closed his eyes and leaned into Meriel for support. His arm snaked around her waist.
"It's very convincing," he placed his head on her shoulders.
Silently, to herself, Meriel lamented, "Oreius is never going to trust me again."
Half-awake, Edmund replied, "We'll simply have to find you a position more suited to your talents than guard duty. I'm certain saving a king from sudden death twice in a row has some pull over the court."
"They’d probably give me a second a title and call it even."
Edmund let out a straggled breath as he fought against a cough, "I shudder to think what they'll do if you save me a third time." He joked.
"A menacing thought, they'd probably make me nobility."
"Wouldn’t that be a sight to behold..." he retorted sarcastically, but internally he had already begun to visualise her as what she had started to mean to him: the queen who ruled over his heart.
***
On the eve before the final attack, Edmund spent most of the morning conferring with his counsel –which today included his siblings High King Peter and Queen Susan.
“Peter shall take the bulk of our forces onto the open field around Jadis’s castle as a show of force.” Edmund placed statuesque models of Centaurs wielding swords on top of a stretch of flat land on the map.
“I’m not sure I feel completely comfortable marching out into the open and leaving my soldiers vulnerable to flanking attacks from higher ground. The White Witch’s castle was built into a mountainside for this very reason,” Peter said, hand on the hilt of his sword.
Edmund smirked, “That is where Susan comes in. She’ll take a handful of her best archers by Griffon onto a defensible position on higher ground with a tactical viewpoint of our soldiers and any possible ambush points.” He moved two Griffon statues onto a mountainside overlooking the soldier’s position.
Susan sauntered over to Edmund, her eyes calm and determined, “Perhaps, positioning our archers on two points would be most beneficial.” Susan moved one statue onto the opposite side of the mountainside.
“And what of your forces, brother?” Peter questioned.
Just then, Meriel walked in, nodding subtly to Oreius and his men as she made her way to the table.
“That is where scout Meriel and I come in,” he answered with a warmth hanging around his words.
“Sires,” Meriel bowed then turned to Susan with what looked like a spark of admiration in her eyes, “My Lady.”
“A pleasure,” Peter bowed charmingly as Susan gave a simple smile in recognition.
“And what is this plan of yours?” Susan asked.
Edmund lifted his weight off the table, straightening his posture as he tilted is head to the side and raised a hand towards Meriel respectively, “I think it best I let the mastermind behind this plan explain it herself.”
Meriel was taken aback, slightly flustered at the prospect of being given the power of speech within the royal tent, but she composed herself none the same. “Thank you, sire.”
Meriel pulled the rolled parchment from under her arm and placed them on the desk. She had not intended for her hand to rest upon Edmond’s in such a gentle and casual manner. She was visibly startled by the feeling of their skin coming into contact. She fought off these inappropriate feelings welling up inside her with a simple duck followed by the folding of her arms behind her back. She didn't want to let the King assume she would be making a habit of such occurrences or that she was flustered by it.
Edmund had been pleasantly surprised by how calming Meriel's touch was. Even though they hadn't exchanged any casual touches prior, no part of it felt foreign at all. If anything, it felt delightful, comforting. Edmund was astonished to discover just much how her simple touch affected him.
He was pulled from his ruminations when he noticed Meriel duck her head in silent apology, her spine stiffening as her hands clasped behind her to reassure him her mind was focused on the battle strategies being discussed.
He smiled to himself, finding her actions endearing if not a little enchanting.
“A few days ago, we came upon an ambush beyond the camp,” Her eyes casually looked towards Edmund then back to the plans below. “Luckily, we managed to subdue one of them. He revealed there is a secret tunnel situated under the mountain. It leads out into a dense area of forestry that could allow any stragglers to escape. But it also gives us an entryway into the Castle. With a small team of my spies, we’d be able to get in and block off the escape route. We’ll box them in, giving them limited options. Either surrender or face the bulk of our forces.”
There was silence in the room for a brief minute and then Peter spoke, more towards his brother than to everyone one else, a worry tugging on his brows. “Sneaking into enemy territory, isn’t that a little dangerous brother?”
Edmund looked at his siblings, then back towards Meriel and Oreius, fortified within his decision, “I trust in my soldier's abilities, Pete. I am confident in this plan.”
“And what of the wounded?” Oreius inquired.
“Queen Lucy is seeing to setting up an infirmary as we speak. All wounded will be taken there to heal. She specifically requested it be open to either side.” Peter reassured him.
“Then,” Susan said as she walked towards the map and stuck an arrow into the delicately drawn illustration of the Ice Palace. “We have a plan of attack.”
When he was left alone to gather his thoughts and think on their next plan of action, Edmunds mind kept returning to the incident from before. His hand rubbing against the patch of skin her palm had touched. It felt warm still, like her hand was still there, still giving him the reassurances and words of wisdom he never tired of hearing.
By Aslan’s Mane! He was completely at her mercy and she didn't even know. How could she? He was a King after all, and Kings don't get the luxury of pouring their hearts desires out to whomever they please, crown and duty be damned.
He needed time to ensure these weren't simply fleeting moments of adoration magnified by the close proximity of a woman who he respected. A woman who wasn't afraid to speak her mind when needed and keep a level head.
It didn't hurt that her face would always make his dreams all the more peaceful. Something he certainly needed the night before battle.

Unconditional Love: Arrow 7x09 Review (Elseworlds Part 2)
The crossover was only five minutes long. Wow! It went by so fast.
Tumblr media
Source: whoeveryoulovethemost
(Fair warning: if you are a Fl*sh fan I wouldn’t read this.)
Let’s dig in…
Olicity
I watched a lot of insufferable bullshit to get two scenes, but they are really good scenes. I love y’all and this couple a lot. Suffering builds character as they say, so maybe I’ll ascend to heaven body and soul because I put up with The Fl*sh for an hour. I’m also being a little overly dramatic, but that’s just details.
Tumblr media
We didn’t start out great though. Oliver, B*rry and K*ra show up in Star City and rather than tell Felicity directly what is going on, Oliver chooses to keep her out of the loop. He feels they have enough problems as it is and he doesn’t want to pile on.
Sure, absolutely. Totally right call, Oliver. More lies are exactly what are required to fix your marriage. Since Felicity is angry about lying you should lie even more, so she trusts you again. Your logic is spectacular. I couldn’t be prouder.
Tumblr media
I honestly had a very low bar as I sat down to watch the Arrow hour of the crossover. I just didn’t want to throw things at the television like I had the night before. I did not achieve my goal. The bar was much too high.
Tumblr media
I don’t know why Arrow thinks they need to add drama on top of drama. The writers do this all the time particularly with Olicity. It’s not enough Oliver didn’t discuss going to prison with Felicity before he made a deal with the FBI. Nope! He has to make the same mistake again, so the characters are triggered to discuss it in the current episode.
Tumblr media
Lying about prison is plenty to work through. Oliver doesn’t need to lie again, so they can talk about lying. One asinine, disrespectful, they’ve-already-dealt-with-this-issue-in-previous-seasons problem at a time please.
Then, Cisco and Caitlin try to pass it off like Ir*s knew immediately B*rry wasn’t B*rry and, once again, this proves they are true soul mates. Felicity immediately feels terrible about herself and her relationship with Oliver because she didn’t realize her husband wasn’t her husband. Maybe their disconnection is even more serious than she realized.
Tumblr media
IR*S DID NOT KNOW IMMEDIATELY. She spent the better part of an hour figuring it out. When she wasn’t pawing Oliver like a cat, she was throwing B*rry and Oliver in prison because she thought they were crazy. Oh by the way, one of them was her husband, so she knowingly threw her spouse in meta human jail. She very slowly and reluctantly began to believe them 20 minutes into the episode. Yeah, that’s right. I clocked it.
When B*rry (Gr*nt G*stin) tells her, “No matter what mask I am wearing I will always show you my true face,” and tries to hold her hand she does not grab back (as far as I could tell).
Tumblr media
That was a hell of a line. Perfect time for some kissing, but Ir*s is more concerned about B*rry becoming Oliver. She couldn’t bring herself to return any affection from the man she believed was Oliver Queen. Sorry kids, this is not how I define “belief.” But you know soul mates.
Tumblr media
Felicity does not spend anywhere near the same amount of time with B*rry and Oliver as Ir*s did.
Tumblr media
Source:  hollandrooden
They show up in Star City, nobody tells Felicity what is going on, she leaves to work out the lightning problem with Curtis, and the trio heads off to Gotham City.
Tumblr media
Source:  hollandrooden
Felicity spent 30 seconds with Oliver and B*rry compared to Ir*s’ 20 minutes. Yes, I clocked it again. Maybe if Felicity was given the same amount of time then she would have figured it out too.
Tumblr media
Nobody tells Caitlin and Cisco Felicity doesn’t know, so they accidentally tell her about the body swap. Of course, it’s totally insane Caitlin and Cisco assumed Felicity’s husband told her the friggin truth right? *bleeped for barrage of expletives*
Tumblr media
Source:  hollandrooden
Felicity: It’s not every day that you find out your ex is your husband and vice versus.
Does B*rry count as an ex? I guess they had a mini date and she did wear that dress.
Tumblr media
Also there was kissing. Yeah, okay ex it is.
Tumblr media
Caitlin tells Felicity she shouldn’t read too much into Ir*s immediately knowing B*rry wasn’t B*rry. (I agree, particularly since she didn’t know immediately.) Caitlin says Ir*s just has more experience with B*rry screwing things up. Okay, she didn’t really say it that way, but she should have. What Caitlin says is Ir*s has more experience with alternate realities.  She also shares how Team Fl*sh locked B*rry and Oliver up in jail when they tried to explain what happened.
Felicity: I appreciate you saying that but it’s just another excuse in a long list of excuses for Oliver’s behavior.
Tumblr media
Felicity is tired and she should be. Oliver always has a reason for keeping her in the dark, but it doesn’t make it okay. Those reasons don’t excuse all the lying. What Felicity wants, what she has always wanted, is Oliver’s trust and respect.
Tumblr media
Source:  oliverfelicitygifs
I really love this scene between Caitlin and Felicity because it captures the struggle of marriage so well. Your partner will hurt and disappoint you at some point. We marry imperfect people. A very large part of marriage is learning how to move past the anger and find forgiveness.
There are aspects of my husband’s personality I don’t like, but I know will never change and vice versus. Unconditional love doesn’t require you agree with everything your partner does. It doesn’t mean you can’t be angry with your spouse. However, it does require loving your spouse in spite of the things you don’t like. Unconditional love requires acceptance.
Tumblr media
Source:  unicornships
This is essentially what Caitlin is telling Felicity. Yes, they have pretty big problems right now, but the only way through it is love. You have to hold on to the love you have for your spouse and let it guide you through the times you don’t like them very much. It’s the only way bridge the anger and separation. This is how you find your way through a fraught relationship.
I am not as angry with Oliver over his lie about prison as I was about the William lie. I don’t believe Oliver’s intentions were to exclude Felicity from his life. I believe he was trying to protect her and, to some extent, himself. Oliver knew Felicity would convince him not to go to jail and at the time he didn’t see any other way. At the end of the day, his actions were heroic even though they hurt Felicity in the process.
However, Arrow has done an absolutely terrible job of explaining Oliver’s point of view. They’ve never allowed Oliver to verbalize his reasons or even offer an explanation for why he didn’t include Felicity in the decision. The viewers shouldn’t have to get their explanations via interviews with executive producers.
I know we’re all as tired as Felicity is with the lying. However, this isn’t just about Oliver lying. This is about what will never change in Oliver. He will always be the one to fall on the sword. His heroic actions will often be detrimental to his relationship with his wife because those actions require sacrifice. It requires Oliver to put other people and other things before his own happiness. His selflessness won’t always be what is best or healthiest for his marriage.
This is why it’s important they are hashing this out. Oliver hurt Felicity. He shouldn’t have excluded her from the decision, even if he was afraid she’d talk him out of it. Felicity needs to be part of these decisions, so it’s easier for her to deal with consequences. At least then she can feel like she has some control or say in her own life.
Tumblr media
Source:  hollandrooden
While Oliver was away, Felicity had to become someone else. Oliver left Felicity to the wolves and she had to learn how to protect herself. She is exploring her concept of morality and justice. Something Oliver has done a million times.
However, when Oliver returned home and saw firsthand how Felicity has changed, she wasn’t treated with the same respect, trust and unconditional love she’s shown Oliver all these years. Felicity encouraged Oliver to find another way, but she was never judgmental about it. Felicity believed in Oliver no matter what.
Felicity’s darkness still pales in comparison to Oliver’s. She may be exploring the moral grey, but it in no way compares to Oliver’s forays. Felicity was greeted with disbelief and, “This isn’t you,’ admonishments instead of understanding and love.
Tumblr media
As I said, I have no problem with Felicity owning a gun, but I didn’t agree with how she used the gun in “Unmasked.” Oliver may have cause to be concerned, but he wasn’t asking the right questions to help Felicity. He was focused on what she was doing rather than listening to what she had gone through. Felicity trusted Oliver even when he was dropping bodies on a weekly basis. His judgment felt like a lack of belief and trust, which he has never felt from her even in his darkest of moments.
After spending some time as B*rry All*n, Oliver realizes he may have overreacted a bit to the changes in his wife.
Tumblr media
His speech is monumentally important for several reasons. Oliver has acted like a supreme jackass for the better part of seven months. He lied, excluded Felicity from decisions in her own life, and then judged his wife for the decisions she made in his absence. Homeboy needed one hell of an apology. As I said in the Watchover podcast this is bases loaded, two outs, bottom of the ninth, and in the last game of the World Series. Oliver needed to man up and be the husband (and superhero) Felicity deserves.
Tumblr media
As speeches go, this is a spectacular one. If you are a long time Arrow fan, then you know this another role shift for Oliver and Felicity. Typically, it is Felicity fixing problems with a grand speech. She’s the one who expounds on how long and how much she loves him. It doesn’t mean Oliver loves Felicity any less, but he is more quiet and simple in his declarations.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: oliverfelicitygifs
Not this time. This is really the first time Oliver has tried to quantify his love for Felicity. Oliver finds the English language falls woefully short as he tries to explain how much he loves Felicity, . There isn’t truly a word for how much he feels for her.
Felicity is on edge when Oliver begins talking. He tells her everything will be okay and acknowledges people change. However, none of that eases her anxiety or anger. It’s only when Oliver reassures Felicity his love for her will never change that we see her relief. Oliver may be right about all the other stuff, but what hits home for Felicity is his unconditional love. We can see how worried she was that the person she is becoming is going to cost her Oliver. What Felicity really needed to hear was that could never happen.
It’s also one of the first times Oliver’s love declaration is focused on Felicity. I love his vows, both sets.
Tumblr media
However, when Oliver is telling Felicity how much he loves her in these moments he focuses on the impact she’s had on his life. It’s a lot about what Felicity’s love has done for him rather than what he feels only for her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s not bad thing. It’s doesn’t make his vows any less powerful or amazing, because Felicity has had a life altering effect on Oliver. However, I don’t believe this was the kind of speech Oliver needed to make in this moment. He needed to focus only on Felicity and how he feels about her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: oliverfelicitygifs
And Oliver does focus on Felicity. BIG TIME. His judgment is gone and in its place are respect, love and understanding. Change is not a bad thing. Oliver understands as life goes on both Felicity and he will become different people, but no matter who Felicity becomes Oliver will always love her. He marries every version of Felicity Smoak, now and forever.
Tumblr media
Of course, we knew Felicity is the love of Oliver Queen’s life. Hearing him say the words is another thing entirely though. Oliver quantifies his love for Felicity just as she has done for him.
Tumblr media
Felicity made it clear she fell in love with Oliver the moment he walked into her office. I suspected as much, so I never tire of hearing Felicity say this.
Tumblr media
I also believe it took Oliver longer. He didn’t know what to make of Felicity Smoak at first.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She sparked something foreign, yet familiar inside of him. Oliver came alive again when he met Felicity, but he didn’t know what it meant until later. Oliver fell in love slowly and then all at once.
Tumblr media
“Love of my life” puts a stamp on his relationship with Felicity in a way Oliver has never done before. There never was or ever could be another woman in Oliver’s life who he loves more than Felicity Smoak.
Tumblr media
The petty side of me is also gleeful because when LL used this same terminology Oliver greeted it with silence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is a vast difference between love and in love. LL stands at one of the spectrum and Felicity Smoak the other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source:  felicitysmoakdaily
There is only one worth living for though and this is what Oliver is declaring. Felicity will always be Oliver’s life no matter who Felicity becomes. He will always choose her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trust is Felicity’s love language. Apologies don’t mean as much as Oliver’s belief and trust. So, Oliver saying he loves every version of her, and will be with her no matter what, is exactly what Felicity needs to hear. Oliver is giving Felicity the same love, trust and belief she’s always given him. This is the kind of husband and superhero she deserves.
If Felicity is going to continue to examine her morality, and I think she should, then Oliver needs to give her unconditional love so A) she has the freedom to explore a darker side and B) so he can pull her back if she crosses too many lines.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Oliver and B*rry have not switched back yet. Felicity believes she’s married to Gr*nt G*stin and the man standing before her, Stephen Amell, is not Oliver Queen but B*rry All*n. However, as Oliver speaks and Felicity listens to his words and hears the emotion in his voice, she knows it is him. Felicity knows this is her Oliver.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: oliverxfelicity
She whispers a sweet and soft, “Hi,” in recognition of who he truly is and then Felicity kisses him. I love how soft hellos are Oliver and Felicity’s way of reconnecting and reassuring. What was there in the beginning is still here today. What is most important remains unchanged.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It doesn’t matter to Felicity what body Oliver is in (although this was a serious upgrade, let’s be real). She recognizes her husband anywhere.
Tumblr media
What I love even more is Felicity initiates the kiss. There is no reluctance or hesitation. Felicity embraces her husband and accepts everything about him, as he has with her.
Tumblr media
They are both becoming different people (Oliver quite literally at this moment), but the love that binds them remains intact and will for the rest of their lives.
Tumblr media
HERE ENDETH THE CROSSOVER!
Tumblr media
Yeah, I’m not kidding. We could stop right here. I care about nothing else. Here’s another kissing gif. *munches on popcorn*

Flash Mitch Leary shows up and interrupts Oliver and Felicity’s much needed make out session though. Probably would have led to sex.
Tumblr media
Way to go Flash Mitch Leary!
Tumblr media
Because I do. Screw you Flash Mitch Leary.
Did you notice Felicity clung to Oliver even though he’s technically still in the wrong body? All we do is win fandom!
Tumblr media

Mr. Let’s Lay off the Public Displays of Affection doesn’t seem to mind at all. Oliver has no problem with PDA. It just depends who he’s PDA-ing with.
Tumblr media
There are a few smaller moments in the crossover which shows us the miracle Felicity Smoak has been for Oliver Queen’s life. Oliver and B*rry are comparing notes on all the ways they’ve over simplified each other’s lives. B*rry has underestimated all the pain Oliver has survived. Oliver believes B*rry’s life is easy.
Oliver: B*rry I always thought you had it easy. Sunshine and rainbows… everybody likes you.
Stephen’s reading of “everybody likes you” is spot on perfect. Oliver is a little envious of the way everyone just accepts B*rry. Through the entire crossover Oliver has been the odd man out. He even remarks, “I guess I’m running alone,” when Kara zips off with B*rry to Gotham. Everyone has been taking pot shots at Oliver and stripping him down to his most basic and unpopular attributes. He’s a dark and hopeless man who fuels his anger via a mask and calls it heroism.
Tumblr media
This is not the Oliver we know or Felicity knows. She is one of the few people who took the time to look beyond the surface to see the deeply good man underneath.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Felicity has always believed in Oliver’s light. She’s always seen the hero Oliver truly is and his ability to inspire hope. Her belief is what made Oliver believe. He became that man because Felicity Smoak loves him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is why the unconditional love they share with each other is so important. Even among “friends” Oliver is treated with condemnation and judgment. Felicity is a rare gift and Oliver knows it. So, he chooses to give her the same unconditional love she’s given him. Oliver experiences the loneliness of judgment and never wants Felicity to feel alone with him. This is how you bridge the gap and build a marriage which will last until “death do us part.”

The Trashing of Oliver Queen
The theme for this year’s crossover is “Trash Oliver Queen.” It was two hours of nonstop dragging.
Tumblr media
Source: stephen-amell
The only reprieve we are given is during the Arrow hour of the crossover. At least those writers somewhat understand his character. Let’s run down the comments shall we?
"Oliver's life is completely defined by anger and vengeance."
"Please don't become Oliver Queen."
“Deck him B*rry! What? He’s a jerk.”
“Oliver Queen, the man who channels his hubris and anger and calls it strength.”
“One time Oliver cheated on his girlfriend with her sister.”
There’s probably more, but that’s plenty.
Tumblr media
Ir*s spends the majority of The Fl*sh episode terrified she’s married to Oliver Queen or B*rry will become Oliver Queen. Since it is the female protagonist making all these statements about Oliver Queen, it is simply accepted as truth.
What’s worse is Oliver doesn’t act like our Oliver.  Ir*s says Oliver is defined by anger, so he has over the top temper tantrums. I’m not saying B*rry wasn’t insulted too. However, when Oliver gets his digs in at B*rry he’s yelling. B*rry refuses to engage and walks away. This reinforces everything Ir*s has said about Oliver. It feels like the writers are saying, “See? We’re right! He’s just a horrible, dark, muscle bound hulk of angry. Isn’t B*rry so much better?” It’s disgusting. This is character assassination. Plain and simple.
Tumblr media
It is so bad it became distracting. I couldn’t appreciate some of the genuinely funny moments because I was too busy fuming.
Tumblr media
I mean, B*rry is telling K*ra how slutty Oliver was back in the day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source:  olivergifs
Alright, this was a tiny bit funny, but why are we rehashing the Sarah/Oliver/Laurel debacle? IT WAS TEN YEARS AGO.
Tumblr media
This is all an effort cast Oliver in a terrible light, while K*ra and B*rry gloat over it because he’s Gandhi and she’s Mother Theresa. Here’s a hot tip: If you are trying to get Arrow fans to watch the other shows then don’t insult their favorite characters.
Tumblr media
The Oliver being described in this year’s crossover hasn’t been around since Season 3. In fact, it feels like neither The Fl*sh nor S*pergirl writers watched an Arrow episode after 3x02. I am willing to acknowledge Oliver has some anger, but he has not been controlled by it or fueled by it for YEARS. I’m not talking a few episodes or a season. I’m talking actual years of character growth being ignored to write this bullshit. SEVEN YEARS to be exact.
Tumblr media
Oliver is defined by the love he has for his wife, son, team and city. This is a man who is willing to sacrifice everything for the people and city he loves. If Oliver was merely fueled by anger and vengeance he would have been done or dead years ago.
In Defense of Oliver Queen
Oliver suffered unimaginable nightmares for five years. He was tortured. Every single person he ever loved either died for him or because of him. He could never fully trust anyone. He had to make life and death decisions every day. He had to forge himself into a weapon, strip himself of his humanity, to survive.
The process in which Oliver Queen became the Arrow and the process in which B*rry All*n became the Fl*sh are night and day. B*rry was struck by lightning. But Oliver? Oliver became the Arrow through sheer force of will. He worked for it, trained for it and bled for it.  His survival depended on it.
B*rry didn’t lose himself when he became The Fl*sh. Oliver had to stop being Oliver Queen. He had to stop trusting. He had to stop believing. He had to stop hoping. He had to stop caring. He had to stop loving. He had to stop being a person. It was the only way for him to survive.  Humanity was just another thing that could kill him.
And yet, despite everything Oliver suffered, he retained his goodness. He fought his way back from the depths of hell and held onto his humanity. He found a way to love and hope again. Oliver Queen is a miracle.
This incessant need The Fl*sh has to compare B*rry to Oliver is a foolhardy endeavor. There is no competition, but writers confident in their character don’t need to trash another one to feel superior. Maybe The Fl*sh has to insult Oliver Queen because deep down they believe their hero doesn’t measure up. It makes me wonder because I’ve never seen television writers treat the characters that launched their show so terribly – and yes I include Felicity and Diggle. Oliver is written as a violent monster, Felicity is a ditzy bimbo, and Diggle could care less B*rry erased his daughter. Every time I watch an Arrow character on The Fl*sh they are a stranger to me.
Tumblr media
I don’t know y’all. This all feels like a massive inferiority complex.
Tumblr media
Arrow has clearly shown there is a light in Oliver Queen just as inspiring as B*rry All*n’s or Sup*rgirl’s.  Oliver has evolved far beyond the man who came home from Lian Yu. He isn’t Season 1 Oliver no matter how hard The Fl*sh and Sup*rgirl try to characterize him that way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He has evolved far beyond dough. Oliver is a baked cookie Felicity gets to munch on and enjoy.
Tumblr media
In fact, Oliver’s heroism is what inspired B*rry to become the friggin Fl*sh to begin with!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, that’s right Fl*sh people. I am not letting you forget your fave is a spin off launched from ARROW. No matter how much you trash Oliver Queen it isn’t going to erase history. The DCTV universe became a success because Arrow is a success. This is like pretending Ironman had nothing to do with Marvel’s movie franchise. Give me a friggin break. RESPECT YOUR ELDERS.
Tumblr media
We also have to deal with severe continuity issues. Ir*s tells Oliver (who she thinks is B*rry) about how angry Felicity is he cut a deal with the feds without discussing it with her. Oliver looks shocked to hear this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: oliverxfelicity
SHOCKED.
Tumblr media
Oliver knows Felicity is pissed about him going to prison. He’s known it for seven months. If Oliver forgot then it was explained to him again during the massive fight he had with Felicity about it last week. It is clear The Fl*sh writers have not watched a single episode of Arrow this year, which is just aggravating.
Tumblr media
This is all evidence to Ir*s that Oliver is a horrible person and she is so grateful she married Rainbow Brite. There is absolutely no way she could be married to Oliver Queen. Listen, cutie why don’t you take your moral condemnation and shove it where the sun doesn’t shine?
Tumblr media
I seem to recall Rainbow Brite, aka B*rry All*n, made the exact same decision a few seasons ago. Didn’t B*rry go into the speed force without discussing it with you? Sure he did. In fact, Mr. and Mrs. Gold Standard went to couple’s therapy over it.
Tumblr media
If there’s a storyline on Arrow then chances are The Fl*sh has copied it. I would be careful with the examples of how awful Oliver Queen is because I can match you example for example with how awful B*rry All*n is. At least Oliver pays for his mistakes.
If these characters had said Oliver’s life is completely defined by anger and vengeance during the first crossover (and they did) I would have said this is an incomplete picture of him. However, I could understand why someone who just met Oliver would feel like it is true. But we’re in SEASON SEVEN of Arrow. These people have fought side by side together for four years.
Tumblr media
Ir*s’ attitude towards Oliver doesn’t even make sense. She was at his friggin wedding while he was bursting with sunshine and moonbeams. Ir*s knows Oliver is a good man, so this is equally an assassination of her character as well. But what else is new on The Fl*sh?
Tumblr media
Even B*rry’s reactions to Oliver’s interactions with Ir*s are insane. He tells Oliver not to touch Ir*s. When Oliver assures B*rry he hasn’t he responds with, “You thought about it.”
Tumblr media
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? NO HE HASN’T. All Oliver has wanted from the second he woke up was to go back to his own bed where his REAL wife is.
Tumblr media
The one climbing Oliver like a tree is Ir*s. The fact Ir*s is attracted to him isn’t a surprise to Oliver.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source:  supercanaries
This is not a detail she’s kept quiet over the years, but is also not something Oliver has encouraged.
Tumblr media
He practically glued himself to Felicity anytime Ir*s came near him.
Tumblr media
Source:  supercanaries
Oliver is frozen with shock and horror she acted on it. This was not the face of a man who has “thought about it.” Take up your insecurities with your wife Bartholomew and leave Oliver out of it.
Tumblr media
However, if we’re talking about who “thought about it” then I submit this as evidence.
Tumblr media
Source:  amunetblack
Spot the difference? This is the face of a man who is clearly enjoying himself. If there’s anybody thinking about touching his friend’s wife then it’s B*rry. Not Oliver. I don’t think either of them “cheated” but what annoyed me is the only one we’re commenting on is Oliver. B*rry, you dated Oliver’s wife. You’ve had TWO non platonic kisses. You are lucky to be alive. So, let’s cool it with the accusations.
Tumblr media
Frankly, this year’s crossover feels like a retreaded ground. This argument B*rry is light and Oliver is dark was one made in the first Arrow/Fl*sh crossover. Both men had to learn and appreciate the kind of hero the other was. All the lessons B*rry and Oliver are learning this year are ones they’ve already learned. Only this time B*rry and Oliver have to switch lives. This is what running out of ideas looks like.
Tumblr media
I mean, come on y’all. They actually had a scene where B*rry is held hostage, but convinces Oliver not to kill Deegan because “there’s a better way.”
Tumblr media

WE. DID. THIS. EXACT. SCENE. IN. SEASON. 2.
Tumblr media
I cannot even with this nonsense.
Tumblr media
Oliver stopped killing in Season 6!!! But it’s because of B*rry Oliver decided to find another way.
Tumblr media
 Unbelievable.
Tumblr media
Do I think Oliver is going back to “I’m full of darkness” during the regular Arrow season? No. I don’t. We’ll go back to our regularly scheduled programming. Oliver will be our Oliver, complete with all seven seasons of character growth, and acting like the man we know and love. What happened in the crossover is all ridiculousness to sell the crossover story, which is continuing into “Crisis on Infinite Earths” in the fall of 2019.
If you think I am overreacting to how The Fl*sh characterized Oliver’s character then I would simply ask you to flip it. How would you feel if Felicity was talking about B*rry the way Ir*s spoke about Oliver? How would you feel if all of B*rry’s mistakes were dragged? How would you feel if the other characters believed B*rry’s selfishness represents everything he is? How would you feel if Arrow ignored five years of B*rry’s character growth? How would you feel if the other characters responded to B*rry as anything other than the hero he is? How would you feel if this wasn’t the first time B*rry All*n was insulted guest starring on Arrow? Methinks you would have a problem with it.
I am a little disappointed in myself for being so surprised. This has been a problem on The Fl*sh for a very long time. This behavior never happens on Arrow, I might add. The Arrow writers do not insult and trash B*rry’s character, so Oliver can look morally superior. So, thank you “Elseworlds” for reminding me why I stopped watching The Fl*sh. The writers are incapable of being respectful towards the character that launched their show.
Tumblr media
What Did Oliver Promise?
Oh Lord Oliver. Why do you have to be so damn heroic all the time? It is highly problematic.
Tumblr media

I didn’t pay much attention to the plot, because the plot made no sense.
Tumblr media
Source:  clevercloudpoetry
This was fine for hours one and two, but then crap actually started to matter during hour three.
Tumblr media
I couldn’t understand why people were freaking out online about what Oliver promised. If you’d like to hear my realization in real time then listen to the latest episode of Watchover.
Tumblr media
Oliver: You said I’d past the test if I knew my true self. Well, my true self is filled with darkness, but B*rry and K*ra are different. They inspire hope. They inspire people because they are the best of us.
Did Oliver promise his life to the Monitor in exchange for those ungrateful twats, B*rry and K*ra?
Tumblr media
Source: @olivergifs
You bet he did.
This is why they are trashing Oliver so much in this year’s crossover. Oliver will sacrifice his life and B*rry, K*ra & Co., will realize he was a true hero all along.
Tumblr media
I might have to start saying a rosary to get through this.
Tumblr media
OR they could have simply treated Oliver like the hero he is and the plot in the crossover would have made sense. I’m just brainstorming here. Don’t want to get too crazy with the ideas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source:  someone-like-robsten
Yup. Oliver will be a hero because of B*rry kids.
Tumblr media
Oliver is not so subtle alluding to exchanging his life for Barry’s, hence his “I’ll get there some day,” but the line irritates me because this whole crossover irritates me.
Arrow has been moving Oliver toward a more defined moral code. He’s becoming the light for Star City. However, everyone acting like there’s been no character growth in this man for the last 7 years simply to sell this “Oliver is going to die” storyline in the crossovers is pure madness.
Tumblr media
This dovetails nicely into the flash forwards doesn’t it? Essentially “Elseworlds” confirms, or at least heavily hints, Oliver dies and everything goes to shit because of it in the future. Well played, Beth Schwartz.
Tumblr media
Are they going to kill Oliver? Yes, but it won’t be permanent. I mean, just say it out loud with me and you’ll hear how ludicrous this sounds.
Oliver dies during the “Crisis of Infinite Earths” or sooner. Felicity raises their children on her own. Star City goes to hell in a hand basket in 20 years. Felicity becomes an evil super villain determined to destroy the city and then she’s murdered.
HERE ENDETH THE SHOW.
Tumblr media
No. Absolutely not. I reject all of this. This is what Arrow (and the crossovers) are telling us happened, but these are same people who said Oliver is all darkness. So pardon me if I find their word suspect.
Tumblr media
I believe there’s a high likelihood Season 8 could be Arrow’s finale season. In the midst of all this trashing of Oliver Queen, there also seems to be a consistent “passing of the guard” mentality. B*rry and K*ra are the heroes the world needs and Oliver is a piece of crap that kills people with arrows. It’s all in an effort to disentangle the Arrowverse from Arrow and Oliver Queen. Then they re-center it around B*rry All*n.
Tumblr media
If Season 8 is the final season then Arrow just spoiled how their show ends. Oliver dies. Everything goes to crap in the future, but then his band of legacy heroes save the city 20 years later. Is it possible? Sure, absolutely. A hero’s journey can end with death, but announcing it or heavily foreshadowing like this takes away the shock factor.
Tumblr media
This is classic diversion and red herrings. The writers want the fans freaking out Oliver is going to die while they are doing something else entirely. This reminds me a bit of Season 4. Everyone was so busy worrying about Felicity dying, and the red herrings pointing to her death, that nobody was noticing how Arrow was setting up Laurel’s death at the same time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, they are setting up Oliver’s death.
Tumblr media
Source:  olivergifs
However, they also set up Oliver’s happy ending.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He wants to hang up the hood and live in peace with his family. The point of the “Elseworlds” promise is for Oliver to sacrifice his happy ending so the world can have the true heroes like B*rry and K*ra fighting for it. However, Oliver sacrificing his happy ending proves he’s just as selfless a hero as they are. But balance I guess.
Tumblr media
All the “Oliver is darkness” nonsense is so heavy handed too. When Arrow introduces plot lines like this so early on, basically telling us how it all ends, then I give it major side eye. If Season 8 is the finale season then they aren’t telling us how Arrow ends a year before the next crossover.
Tumblr media
So what is “Crisis on Infinite Earths?” Here’s a link explaining it more in detail, but essentially an evil version of The Monitor begins destroying the multiverse. Let’s call him Satan Monitor. A bunch of superheroes die and there’s only one universe remaining at the end. Satan Monitor has a side kick named Psycho Pirate. This is the masked man talking to the professor in Arkham. “Crisis on Infinite Earths” is also when B*rry All*n disappears (which has been a major plot point on The Fl*sh) and Sup*rgirl dies in the comics. This is the sum total of my knowledge.
Tumblr media
We are supposed to believe the Green Arrow sacrifices himself for the universe and this is the ending of Arrow. However, “Crisis on Infinite Earths” will air in the fall of 2019. This is the beginning of Arrow’s 8th Season. Not the end. The other crossovers have always aired in the winter. They are not killing Oliver Queen in the beginning of Season 8. Nope. Not happening.
Tumblr media
The fact they are threatening to kill Oliver so early is good for us. We always want the premiere and mid season to be a shit show, so we can get a happier ending in the finale. Consider the last time Oliver “died.”
Tumblr media
Things worked out okay for him in the end.
Tumblr media
And yeah, that’s also my hang up. They’ve already written the perfect death scene for Oliver Queen. It aired four years ago. Been there. Done that.
The Monitor: Are you truly that eager to die? No, not eager, but willing. Ready to.
Oliver willing to sacrifice himself is not a shock. This is not a man who fears death. When Oliver returned to Starling City, he did not expect to survive. He thought he would come back, save the city, but die in the process as some kind of atonement for his sins.
Tumblr media
As the season progresses, Oliver’s humanity begins to return and he becomes more and more attached to those he loves. This creates a struggle for him because he does not expect to live. This is why he told Tommy as he died,
Tumblr media
So, it’s tough for me to see death as the ending for Oliver Queen. Yes, it’s possible. I won’t deny that, but I feel it is the more unlikely scenario. Particularly since the writers are heavily hinting at Oliver’s death and want us to be worried about it.
Tumblr media
David told a fan at HVFF San Jose the flash forwards are one of the possible futures and we’d understand more in the crossover.
Tumblr media
@callistawolf and I were so confused because this is directly opposite of what Beth had said in interviews. TV Guide said Beth, “…confirmed that this is a fixed future, so we don't need to worry about B*rry All*n (Gr*nt G*stin) turning up and resetting the timeline or anything.”
However, went I looked back at her Collider interview that’s not exactly what she said. She merely confirmed this future is not connected to Legends and the characters don’t know what happens in the future.
Is this a fixed future that we’re seeing, or is there the possibility that they can change things?
SCHWARTZ: This is not connected to Legends. This is our own future. They don’t know what happens in the future. Legends is like that and The Flash is like that, but on Arrow, they don’t know. This is very much for the audience. They don’t know what’s happening to them, in the future. It’s better that they don’t know.
She dodged answering the “fixed future” portion of the question. I have yet to find an interview where Beth comments on permanency. Sorry, David. We were wrong to doubt you.
Tumblr media
We’re thinking whatever happens to Oliver is fixed during next year’s crossover. Maybe Oliver dies in the Season 7 finale as a fulfillment of his promise. Whatever happens during “Crisis on Infinite Earths” could trigger a change in the flash forwards. Right now, they can kill Oliver and explore what Star City is like without the Green Arrow in the flash forwards. If Star City has gone to hell then obviously this proves the Green Arrow is needed in the world, because he is also a true and inspiring hero. Oliver ultimately survives “Crises on Infinite Earths” and is able to save his city in present day. Then we are given a totally different future.
Tumblr media
How are they going to fix it? I have no idea. Superman was ushered off to his happy ending with a pregnant Lois. So, maybe he comes back and exchanges his life for Oliver’s. Not sure. I’m just spit balling here. There’s lots of X factors I can’t answer, but this gives the Arrow writers the chance to write both an unhappy and happy ending. We don’t have all the details worked out. Maybe Oliver dies during “Crisis on Infinite Earths” and is brought back another way. It’s totally possible Oliver promised something other than his life too.
However, they want us to believe Oliver Queen is going to die so I wouldn’t expect to see him in the flash forwards any time soon. But it makes no sense to kill Oliver Queen at the end of Season 7 or the beginning or middle of Season 8, when we know Arrow still has a whole season to film and Stephen Amell is under contract.
Tumblr media
The big question is does Oliver tell Felicity what he promised? I want to say yes, but I’m not holding my breath. Oliver’s heroic actions tend to run counter to his happy life with Felicity. Do I imagine there’s a world in which Felicity will be okay with Oliver sacrificing himself for B*rry and K*ra? NO. It’s the same issue we had with the prison arc. I absolutely think Oliver should tell Felicity, but I just don’t have confidence he will at this point. Hopefully, I am wrong.
Stray Thoughts
Stephen Amell and Gr*nt G*stin have amazing chemistry. They are the perfect straight and funny man team. There are genuinely hilarious moments throughout the entire crossover, but most of the funny occurred during The Fl*sh hour. Stephen Amell truly cracked me up. I wish I could have enjoyed it more.
I'm still comfortable with my hot dog meets sperm description for Stephen in The Fl*sh suit.
Are B*rry's abs photoshopped too? I have questions.
"There's no way I could be married to Oliver Queen. I mean babe come on. He's not my type." This gag will never get old for me. I love it.

Who is going to tell Sup*rgirl she is gay or bi? Because she is. There was a lot of flirting coming from Batwoman and K*ra D*nvers didn’t seem to mind at all. Don’t even get me started on her chemistry with Lena Luthor. So yeah. Somebody tell her. Facts are facts. I’m with you SuperCorp! Source:  amunetblack
If we’re talking Oliver’s worst fear I’d pick Adrian Chase over Malcolm Merlyn, but whatever. Nice to see you again John Barrowman.
Tumblr media
I love how they showed how good Oliver is with computers. Nice moment of continuity from the Arrow pilot. Source:  oliverfelicitygifs
Arrow filmed a whole new opening with Gr*nt G*stin, but was Stephen Amell afforded the same on The Fl*sh? NOPE. It was weird.
I think Sup*rgirl got the shaft story wise. She spends all her time refereeing B*rry and Oliver. I think we could find better uses for her character.
Jimmy Olson has facial hair and nothing makes sense anymore.
Is Dante alive in this reality? If not, maybe don't bring him up B*rry.
Is Superman getting his own show too? This is a lot about Superman. (Superman proposes to Lois and they move to Argo to raise their love child.) Nope. Superman is not getting his own show.
I think if you can make your own diamonds you could go at least 4 carats Clark.

when vegetables in the kitchen grow
My mom gave me the idea to do a blog post on when potatoes and onions grow leaves and stuff, but that is not what i am going to write about. I have a lot to do before the day ends. There is one hour left in the day. It looks like I will not get most of it done. That is what happens when I sit in my room watching old degrassi episodes. I try to fill my void, I think it is getting bigger. Shopping, plants, degrassi episodes, they are all the wrong shape to fill it. My void is you shaped. Its funny how attached I got in that short amount of time. I have detached since, but it hurt. I realize now that I really am an idiot. That I didn't mean much to you. You have much more experience than I, you have made deeper connections. It really was just good fun, that's all it was. I got too attached. I don't think that's my fault though, not yours either, you were just being nice and I fell. I'm sorry i complicated things. I bet you wish we never interacted, i think i kinda feel that way. I'm not sure it was worth it. It definitely was not worth it for you, that's plain to see. you are in a better place but not because of my efforts, despite them, that's also plain to see. I just wish i didn't have feelings, wants, and needs, I can't do anything about them but i wish i didn't let them get in your way. I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry. I didn't mean to cause any headaches, but i know i did. I didn't mean to. I'm sure that you wish i didn't exsist. I also wish i didn't. I'm so sorry. I am 100% sure that you would not be impacted in anyway if i was just never there to complicate things. you'd be just as in love as you are now. All I did was get in your way and delay those feelings. All I wanted was to make you happy, but i saw your face. Now you're happy and I can't help but feel this tinge of joy for you. i hope you realize your worth in her presence. "you are good for so much".  I still care, I wish i didn't.  i get scared for you because of the way your brain works. I don't understand it entirely, and now I'll never get the chance. From the parts that you let me see, i could tell It was unpleasant in there. I can understand that much, but i get the sense that there was more beyond my level of understanding. I miss you but I am no longer waiting. I am moving on, I think it's your haircut. If you were to ever come back I would embrace you with open arms. But you would never come back, you have no reason to. I find myself missing the intricacies of you. those dark streaks in your lights eyes, the spaces in between each of your knuckles, in which my fingers fit perfectly into. Everything felt perfect until it wasn't. Anyway, i am now waiting for someone who i can give all my love to, i have so much to give. I'm not sure how to aqquire this someone, whoever they are. what i have learned is that looking for it will make me restless and frustrated. they will appear when i least expect it.  I hope no one reads this, but i did put it on the internet so that's on me. alright thanks for not reading :)

Atypical: An Autistic Review (5/8)
Episode 5: This episode gave me a lot of anxiety, making it last three times as long as it needed to.
I too don’t always like new things, and I like how Sam described it.
Evan rationalizing and explaining why it’s okay to be nervous - 10/10. He continues to be a generally good dude.
Some fast and lose “diagnosing” by two psychologists.. *eye rolling*
Paige, I understand that you may be irritated by Sam’s info dumping, but setting up and enforcing a “card” system is flat out not okay. Also, in your research did you not learn that it wasn’t okay to just touch other people’s things without asking? On the other hand, this may just further point out that you are also autistic… For example, you are reciting research basically verbatim and you actually did research in the first place.
Side note: this entire bedroom scene is anxiety inducing, I’d skip it if possible. That said, you can’t just lock people in a closet when you’re upset (Sam is again pushing boundaries that shouldn’t be pushed).
Casey did a good job of reminding Sam that she won’t be at school, and also telling him where to find his lunch money (I’m still not sure why he doesn’t hold his own). I’m not sure why Sam said that rude thing about her legs though, I would have thought that he’d be taught not to say things like that.
You can’t steal a person’s sweatshirt. I’m not sure why this has to be said.
How can Sam just hide away during the middle of school? Which American high school is this? Are people looking for him? Additionally, this is the first year he hasn’t had an aid, why was his aid taken away (I’ve had this question since the beginning)?
I’m not sure what to say about this section of dialogue:
Casey: “Hey, you look familiar.”
Jayson (student from Clayton): “Well, I’m black, so they put me on the brochures.”
C: “Oh yeah, that’s it.”
Someone who isn’t white please comment your opinions on this scene. I understand that diverse groups (POC, women, visibly disabled) often end up on brochures/pamphlets, but this felt awkward and forced.
So, we hear this “NTs = empties” garbage, and it really hurts to hear. Is no one going to comment that sometimes NTs take up so much space - often in autistic spaces - that they end up hurting autistics? But wait, I forgot that this show actually isn’t for people like me at all, is it? It’s for NTs, by NTs.
Zahid continues to be a good friend. Definitely one of the best characters.
Mom is acting super off; this is normally a sign in movies/shows that people will find out about her affair, which, in turn, will cause a complete breakdown of the family. I’m not looking forward to this.
Casey’s “advice” to Paige was flat out rude and unnecessary. It is not hard to say that Sam was upset about the sweatshirt, nor is it hard to explain that taking/touching things isn’t appropriate. Is it so hard for Casey to believe that someone may actually like her brother? Not everyone is out to hurt autistic people okay. The only redeeming thing from this scene is the fact that Casey said Sam wasn’t a science experiment - Paige never said he was, but it was nice to hear.
I don’t like how Paige gave up the first time there was a conflict. I’m not sure if she got scared by what Casey said or what, but something about it doesn’t sit well with me.
Sam shows some backbone! Sadly, it appears to hurt Casey’s feelings. I’m conflicted.
Miles’s goodbye letter is one of the worst breakups I’ve ever seen on television. I can’t even react to it.
Is it necessary to bring up the fact that your kid is autistic to a near perfect stranger (while the person in question is not there)? I don’t think it was necessary for this instance (a dinner). I also don’t think it’s necessary to tell your coworkers that your son is autistic unless it honestly came up. I don’t tell everyone in the world that I’m autistic or asexual, nor would I want someone else sharing that information unless it was absolutely necessary. I’m not ashamed of these things, they are important to me, but I want to be able to tell someone. I don’t want my mom doing it for me, and especially not without my consent or knowledge.
“He works at a salon and he’s ashamed of being gay?” - 1) This is a stereotype (gay hairdresser). 2) This question is rude at best and homophobic at worse. 3) I understand the scene, but do we really need to have the only mention of queerness surrounded by a sense of shame?
Why is she having an autistic son a huge part of her identity? My parents aren’t like this, so I actually would like an answer.
I’m glad someone told mom that she wasn’t being an individual person. I hope that this makes her step back a bit and be less controlling.
Again, why has Sam never learned boundaries? Why did he barge into the classroom when he could have texted her? I don’t understand big declarations like this, but that’s just me.
I had that same reaction the first time someone kissed me. It was weird.
Being your own person does not mean continuing your affair - just a relationship tip.
Edit: I understand that Casey was projecting her fears onto Paige. It was still rude

I feel like i wasted my  life and meaning. im  20 and  recently stop going to my college class  cause i was scared to come back. i'm pathetic to leave a class that i paid and never come back when today is the last day. i avoided so many sessions that i decided to not go on the final exam. im regretting my choice of not going to class. if i just went and did my work i wouldnt be in this mess. Staying at home avoiding it feels nice at first but everthing sets in to regrets. Why am i too scared on what bad things can happen if i came back. my mind tells me that i would be slap in the face but in the spotlight be humiliated but thats just my thoughts. I shouldnt have lisiten to those teachers and people around me about not doing a year gap. I knew i wasnt ready and not my path is crumbling within my eyes. Nothing seems possible anymore. Life doesnt have a meaning for me anymore if i just cant put myself to go forawrd. I'm a failure to everyone and i dont need help. I feel like im bottling up so much emotion i just cant hold on. I dont know how life is going to treat me in the futrue all i see if bleak emptyness in the future. I'm so stupid i never finish what i started with. I avoid help yet i dont know what happens if i do. im consider an adult now so i should be doing everything myself and only myself. Why do i feel broken inside like im just mentally ready yet i threw myself inn this situation. I keep deciding to avoid classes after i screw up like forgetting to do something or homework. I would consider myself lazy since ii dont do my homework on time. I'm scared to go back to the college and confronting everything again and come across someone who was in that class like the person of a group project . I knew what was the consequence. its too late for me to improve nothing going to change. it was doom from the start. why do i think i was going to make it. i withdraw 4 classes from these 3 years for the same reason. i was scared to confront my listakes. Everyone was right i wasnt meant to succeed, i knew i was a mistake. What am i going to do with myself. Am i just going to hold my tears and look at the ceiling wonder what if . who am i kidding. i cant socially interact with people . i always mumble. i cant make a perfect small conversation. i cant even ask for help. I see everyone from hs in their third year in college while i messed up and now in sap alert, no financial aid, no reason to make an appeak since i have no evidence for my disgusting choses ive done for being scared . i wanted things to be perfect, my work being given on time, to improve  everything i was in highschool. Who knew i was that pathetic. to even think i was going to make it in life. I'm a useless being in this world. why should i even consider trying again. Funny how i distract myself everyday with music and videos trying to avoid dealing with my thought until now. i want to leave this mess but my other side is so persistent with staying for future episodes and stuff from my favorite shows and artists.  would getting another class help yet the last class was paid by my parents...............i should nt have let them paid. It as a mistake. im not mature enough. i panick too much. I was never academically ready for this . i should have went for tutoring all these years, take all their help to improve but i was the quiet type always mute everyday just staring at people only listening avoiding the teacher to pick me. I was never confident, i always saw other people potential and would be better than me. I was better for them to grow since they have more potential. I dont know what happen with me. One minute im ready to do this and the next is my breaking down, either poking  myself  on my arm and hands  or ripping paper to not cry as its a weakness  but im already weak.  Teachers have given up on me in the past so why would college be any different. Im already punishing myself for what i done to myself with this class. I only had one class to do one class and look what happened. i thouht i was ready but i guess it was a mistake to take english class. I knew i had trouble writing english papers i should have avoid that class to the very end but someclasses i need to take require english101 to be finished with so i thought maybe im ready maybe i can do it. I should have went with  my guts. funny how much writing i just wrote yet i cant seem to focuss on writing an english paper. i suck at writing essays. never gave any essays in my 3rd year in highschool yet that teacher passed me... feel it was a mistake. im pathetic disgrace. Maybe im like this but i shouldnt be like this. Why do i always want to cry when put in the spot. maybe those therapy sessions i had years ago didnt work. maybe i just didnt do it right. im thinking too much on its too cludder   but i have to work alone. Its always what teachers said all these years thhat you would have to do everything yourself when you become an adult. Im on the edge on giving up my dreams. i cant even get a job. you have to be social interactive not a room stuck antisocial person with no confidence, starts panicking too much for small things and mumble to much as i dont know what to say. Things have to change but what am i going to do now. take another class that is not english but accidentally meeting someone from a group project you were suppose to present todsy or just stay in my room  the whole summer thinking whats wrong with me ad this meaning with life and how theres no really a reason to life you just exist. i could just try to distract my self again with music and stuff but with this class i stopped goiing and going to end tomorrow im going to be thinking about this for a while. I could try fixing fasa but with this recent class and my lack of evidence to support my apeal and with no job and no experience what am i going t do. i am a failure, loser yet what can i do. i dont think thoses college ad visors will be any help so whats the use. I never went to my high school consuleors because their for academic purpose not for my problem. why did i broke at the highschool graduation. never had friends always alone going back and forth to school creating characters to fill the need for friends for my idea stories. im realizing they were also a distraction from loneliness some of the time drawing them when im alone. i can see now i was a loner. well what got to me to this state now. Parent expects all or nothing and noting that my siblings are acheiving greater things im just ithe way of their future. i to think of a plan to get myself out of this so now ill just think now that that class is finish. Me and my stupid feeling . Im not sic i can do it myself my family think im doing ok but im just stuck. cant look at them in the eye. i not going to therapy. i dont think it would work for me to go every week again. i just want advise.  that is  all
