ALL of my Criminal Minds Headcanons:

(I watched the entirety of criminals minds for the first time (except season 16 bc it’s ASS), starting in May and ending in September, and I wrote all of these during that period. enjoy!!) SEMI-UNEDITED U HAVE BEEN WARNED.

- I think that Reid would come out to the whole team around late season 4. He’d tell them that he’s trans first, since it’s the scarier one, and then hit them with the bisexual one a couple days later when he tells them about his boyfriend of the time. They’re all very supportive, of course, especially since half the team is queer themselves (Emily = lesbian, JJ = aroace spec/queer, Penelope = genderqueer/pan). It’s also around this time where he becomes more open with all of the team, so he often is able to talk about his depression, anxiety, ptsd and autism/adhd with them, especially since most of them struggle with the same things. He doesn’t like talking about his addiction issues, though, and usually leaves that for his therapist and Narcotics Anonymous group.

Eventually they break up because the boyfriend has to move away because of a job, which then opens everything up for Maeve, and then later the boyfriend and Spencer reunite and become a thing again. Idk how it’d fully work out yet bc I’m only mid season six, so I’ll come back to this when I’ve watched more.

- Spencer is sensitive to smells while Emily is sensitive to lights

- Penelope got Derek into Taylor swift but he won’t admit it. JJ and Derek blast Taylor swift in the car together and Derek doesn’t let her tell ANYONE

- JJ is always cold and Emily gives her her sweater

- Reid babysits Henry all the time and Henry brags about him to his friends. Reid ended up meeting Henry’s friends when he attended one of Henry’s friend birthday parties to supervise and he was the main attraction.

- Reid lost Henry babysitting once. They were in a museum and Reid almost had a panic attack. Reid made Henry hold his hand whenever they were out in a big, public place after that.

- Elle was the first person Spencer ever came out to as trans (and then she left)

- Reid is a cuddly drunk (though after Tobias Hankel, his sobriety in all forms becomes very important to him, so it’s super super rare for him to drink at all. He usually only does it bc of peer pressure + to be seen as normal)

- Spencer gets overstimulated a lot and Morgan brings stim toys in his pocket to help him. Penelope’s cave is also like a sensory haven, and Spencer is welcome in there any time if things become too much.

- additionally, Spencer’s sensory issues become worse when he isn’t sleeping well (he’s so me core), and so if this becomes a problem, the couch in Hotch’s office is always up for grabs if Spencer needs it. Morgan’s office too, which he uses more often purely bc he doesn’t want to bug Hotch and Morgan is like a brother to him, so it’s fine annoying him all he wants.

- “I don’t have red flags. I have fun facts.”

- Reid turns into a fucking goofball when around Garcia and Morgan

- Garcia + Emily likes to buy Reid funky socks they find (he has two whole drawers dedicated to his socks)

- Spencer is the first to comment whenever one of the girls gets a new hair cut. They love it.

- Whenever Spencer wants to talk about nerdy things, he talks to Emily bc she’s usually genuinely interested in it

- Spencer has doctor who marathons with Penelope w cosplay and themed food! And when Luke joins the team, he joins them too.

- Spencer goes to JJ’s + Will whenever he feels lonely, and will often randomly call members of the team (usually JJ, Emily, or Penelope) if he feels like he needs to talk to someone.

- Spencer was scared of Hotch + Morgan when he first joined the BAU.

- [EARLY SEASONS] Derek is usually the one who seeks out Spencer—not bc Spencer doesn’t want to be around Derek, but bc Spencer doesn’t want to feel like a burden if he asks to hang out. In the later seasons, they do it mutually

- Spencer doesn’t mind the team calling him kid or treating him like a kid bc his parents never treated him as one as a child, so it’s nice.

- Spencer had to put medical grade insoles into his converse after he got shot in the knee bc wearing hard ass converse without them hurt like a bitch

- Season 15 Episode 4, the Mack Meet-Cute. Still happens in my silly Ralvez timeline, but they end up just being really good friends. When Mack asks him if this was some long set up, he’s like “uh, no um, you’re good there. I have a boyfriend actually.” and she’s like “oh, well, sorry. I didn’t know you were gay.” and he’s like “uh, I’m bi actually, but uh, wasn’t expecting you to know.” And then they start this robin + Steve thing.

- Spencer really likes Luke’s grey hairs. The first time he noticed them, he full stopped, staring and then kissed Luke senseless.

- Spencer going on a rant about Galelio and the Church when a local police said that the church is on the side of the people or something. Does the same thing whenever someone brings up astrology: “did you know astrology isn’t based on any scientific facts? To be a scientific practice, it needs to go through rigorous testing and be able to adapt and change to new discoveries, but astrology hasn’t changed in 2000 years—“

- Spencer is amunocompromised after the anthrax incident, which he often forgets about. He will get a cold, and he’ll be like “meh it’s just a cold whateves”, go to work and then be like “this is absolutely the worst idea I’ve ever had wtf”

- Spencer often forgets he’s disabled. He’ll be doing smth, and then his disability will disable him and he’ll be like “oh yeah, forgot that was a thing”. Ie/ forgets he’s autistic until he has a shutdown in the middle of the workday, forgets he has knee problems until he has a flare up and can’t walk up stairs w/o his brace.

- In the first few years of his time at the BAU (age 22-25, two years before season 1-season 2), Derek always made fun of Spencer for not “getting some” or “going on any dates”, which annoyed Spencer to no end, and also hurt him a lot since Derek just assumed he was that unloveable/undesirable. In actuality, Spencer had gotten out of a really rough break up with Ethan right before he entered the BAU, and wasn’t looking for anything solid or long term, especially since he’s Demi-romantic, and then proceeded to get all messed up with Dilaudid. It wasn’t until years later when the two were talking about it, after Spencer had came out, that Spencer told Derek this and Derek felt awful.

- Spencer can’t eat fish anymore bc of Tobias Hankel burning it when he was kidnappped. The smell also makes him nauseous, doubled up with his sensitivity to smells, it’s awful for him. After some time, it’s a lot easier to bear when ppl around him are eating it, but it still takes him back there if he’s especially vulnerable. The team knows about this, whether it’s bc he told them or bc they picked up on it, so they avoid eating fish around him and they make sure to get him food that isn’t fish.

- Spencer can’t do INAPPROPRIATE THINGS on his knees bc it hurts too much, but still insists anyways and Luke has to be like “dude, there r other ways to do this” until Spencer concedes

- Garcia is usually the only privy to Spencer’s dating life. Well, he doesn’t have much of one, but when he dOES, she’s privy to it. It just happens when you’re one of the few queer and neurodivergent and some kind of aroace spec ppl on the team. Spencer doesn’t really share much about his dating life with the rest of the team, so Garcia is very proud of the fact that spencer chooses to confide in her and treasures it with the upmost honour. It’s one of the few things she can keep a secret about, mainly bc of how important it is to spencer. She is the first one to know when he starts seeing someone, and the person he texts to indulge in ice cream with when they break up (specifically with OC love interest). The only time this doesn’t happen is when Spencer starts seeing Luke, mainly bc Spencer is scared of how she’d react. When spencer does end up telling her, she’s deeply sorry and she cries and Spencer’s like it’s okay! It’s okay! It’s not that bad! And she’s like no it’s not okay! And they have a doctor who marathon the three of them to make up for it, where Penelope lightly shovel talks luke, but mostly apologises for how she treated him.

- Garcia + Hotch have a Father/Daughter relationship

How D'ya Like THEM Apples?

So, trying the decriminalized mushrooms in tiny doses for the ADHD (because, in my particular situation, going to a doctor for this might be hazardous to my health in general). The first time I took them before bed, with chocolate, and that upset my stomach a little so I decided to take them with breakfast like they suggested in the instructions (not really a breakfast person). Not an improvement, they upset my stomach more and made me anxious all day yesterday. Can't know if I'm getting used to them or I need to figure out the best way to take them.

Still slightly anxious today, but able to roll with it.

So, here's the deal. A while back, the spouse and I discussed what the prompt "imagine an apple" gets you, in your brain. He can imagine an apple at will. I found out, I can't. I need context. What's it for? Do you want my culture's Platonic ideal of "apple" or are you going to the store and you need to know what's a good one to buy? Do I need to get taste and texture involved here or is it more like set dressing? With some context, I can kinda get you an apple, but it's indistinct.

And I thought, "Ahaaa! That's that 'imagination deficit' they want to see to diagnose the autism. That's what that is! I can't cough up unlimited specific apples without specific contexts for each one, and even then it's not so good!"

But, after that first microdose, while heading off to sleep, I thought to myself, to pass the time, "Hey, wonder if I can imagine an apple any better?" And, uh, I COULD? Unlimited specific apples, no context. I mentioned that to the spouse, and he said, "Can you still do it now?" And, yes. Yes I can. +/-36 hours away from the second tiny dose of mushroom, and I can give you unlimited specific apples, if you need me to imagine that for some reason.

And... It kinda feels nonsensical that I couldn't do that before? Yeah, apples. There's lots. Just pick one. But I know I couldn't. Not even for the sake of a person who would be satisfied with any imaginary apple. Like, I could imagine the shittiest apple and that would be fine, it would be a judgment free zone! But I remember I couldn't do it. I needed a better prompt.

That thing with the apples is not something I've heard about for ADHD, but I did just barely get an internet diagnosis on that (thanks, @kithpendragon), and I only ordered the stuff because my THC vendor has it. I need the THC to keep from waking up from the edge of sleep with a gasp and heart palpitations, fearing to be harmed. If you spend $200 and stock up, they send you more THC as a surprise! That's a good deal! I like not having panic attacks! For months at a time! I'm not liking the stomach ache and anxiety from the mushrooms, but this thing with the apples makes me feel functional and cool. I don't wanna lose that!

I'm kinda concerned I'm gonna end up doing a real Flowers for Algernon here if I can't tolerate the mushrooms, or they go illegal again because politics. Like, I'm not sure how well the brain differences will play with my creativity and productivity. I need to draw things and go shopping and make dinner, ya know? Lots of different stuff. I seem to be able to do laundry and write a long-ass Tumblr post, but I need long-term data on that. In any case, five days a week is the maximum recommended dose and I gotta take breaks or I'll build up a tolerance.

I may end up looking forward to my meds like that one Tumblrite in my feed the other day, even if they make my stomach hurt! Or I may end up trading one kind of imagination for another and going back and forth indefinitely. I'd prefer the former, but I gotta wait and see.😅

And blah blah blah he goes to wonderland and such but then he doesn't go back to where he came from bc of whatever bad is happening

I hc that he was from like our world so there's no magic from there

and he meets everyone in wonderland and becomes friends w Kitty, Maddie,Lizzie, bunny and chase

And probably at some point Alistair realizes he has feels for chase and most likely goes to Maddie to talk abt it

And Maddie is completely normal abt it cuz shit like this is normal in wonderland

but anyways when chase realizes he likes Alistair he goes to Lizzie and Lizzie is js like bro idk js ask him out?

Lmao so he does and Alistair is like gnskfbskfbns

And then they date

and they'll probably like middle school age when they start dating

what are 3 things you’d say shaped you into who you are?

Oooh, tricky question. A lot has helped shape me into who I am, and not all of it has been positive. I think the three biggest influences on my life have got to be:

Bullying: I was bullied a lot in my youth, and it's affected how I see myself and how I hold myself. A lot of my anxiety and self-reliance comes from being bullied, gaslit, and generally traumatised as a kid - there were no real authority figures I could trust, and I got in trouble when I retaliated against my bullies, so I ended up going through life feeling like I couldn't trust or rely on a lot of people. Which brings me to:

Therapy: Let's go for a happier one. I used to have terrible panic attacks at the thought of failing people, or from being in crowds or from trying to make phone calls. It's taken a whole-ass decade and a bunch of different therapies, counselling services, and dudes whose stock response to mental illness is "have you tried weed?" (No and I'm not going to. It's not for me.) but I'm at the point now where I can hold conversations, stand up for myself, and say "no" to the occasional ridiculous request. A lot of that is down to talking things out and finding things out through one-to-one counselling.

My wife: I met @helenmarie95 on this hellsite, and we've been together for a while now. She's been super strong when I've had low moments (like quitting my job bc it was the worst thing for me and then taking a few months to find another) to points where I started questioning my gender and began identifying as non-binary. She's taught me a lot about mental illness, specifically autism and ADHD, and she's been accommodating when I've said stupid shit. And she has shown me some awesome movies and music ^-^

So we've kinda covered it already, but: learn how to say no. Also join your union at work. Also if you've got a bad cold, eating four Kinder Bueno bars in a row isn't a good idea.

do you think canon Percy is neurodivergent / on the spectrum? I personally hc him as such but what is your opinion on this subject? what are things that stand out to you?

Hi anon!

I do as well! Full disclaimer: I am autistic, my brother is autistic and has ADHD, and our father is probably on the spectrum as well but in vehement denial. However, I got Very Good at masking, to the point I rarely unmask and spend all my energy dealing with Social Bullshit, while my brother is... idk, super charismatic in social settings, somehow, but a nightmare with Tasks and Sensory Hell. So I usually project autism onto characters given my lived experience, but can 100% see how he has ADHD vibes as well! I think neurodivergent rep is very important, and it's great that we can see ourselves in these characters <3

I will repeat this a lot, but Percy has also undergone a fuckton of trauma. A lot of his traits that remind me of myself could be due to PTSD. His panic attacks, for instance, are things I'd slot more with PTSD, personally. You can read his character different ways (I read him as having both), and that's good on you. However, I am autistic and I like projecting My Me onto the blorbo so that's what you get.

A couple of things stand out to me:

The whole Feywild thing reminds me of a special interest. Less so in the campaign, but given how they play it up in TLOVM I really suspect it's the case. Clockmaking also seems like the sort of very specific, detailed work that'd make my brain go brrr if it was my thing, so? Is that anything?

A lot of how he is described (by himself or by Tal) pre-Briarwoods could align with a little introvert noble with no social skills and a whole fuckton of arrogance, but it also aligns nicely with an autistic kid.

Just. how many times Cass has to imply 'percy I can't handle Whitestone alone' before he gets the memo. is insane. it's either 'his autistic ass isn't getting what she's trying to say' or 'percy stop being a dick and help your sister out you KNOW what she's asking'. either way works for me! But I'd like to hope he's not intentionally shoving responsibility on his little sister and use that as an excuse.

We don't know if he had issues being touched prior to being tortured ("We didn't touch in my family"), and the trauma of what Ripley did to him could 110% account for that! But I like to slot it away into my 'on the spectrum' vibes box.

Layers. Layers. Layers! Again, another potential covariate with the fact he's a poncy noble, and has a vested interest in hiding his scars, but I am Particular about what touches my skin at a given time. I like long sleeves and pants and gloves because then it's always the same sensory things on me and not changing.

Just how slow he is to court Vex. Because maybe he's reading the social cues wrong, and he has to be Obvious about his interest too, and becomes a fancy bird giving gifts because that's the best way he can think of supporting her and expressing interest while figuring out whatever the fuck this Attraction thing is.

Perhaps just a Tal thing (I see it with Ashton too, or I did when going over the Laudna n Ashton convo with a fine toothed comb the other day), but how much he fidgets when talking. Constantly moving.

His entire friendship with Keyleth is very autism vibes. Could purely be coming form her, or shared, who knows! (I am a huge supporter of autistic Keyleth, here n there I'll sneak in a line about her stimming <3)

Might just be a Me thing, but how he turns to Vex when he's feeling big emotions and doesn't trust himself to handle them. What the fuck are these, I think this impulse to lash out at Scanlan is probably bad, dear please keep me from doing anything stupid.

Vento Aureo Everybody Lives Fic HELP

Hey does anyone have recommendations for vento aureo headcanons? I'm writing an everybody lives (except Diavolo) fic and i already have BruAbba and GioMis, La Squadra living together and Buccigang living together, and although I'm making a new adventure for them to go on I feel like it's lacking a bit of character flair. Any recommendations would help!

here's a list of everything i have thus far ***SPOILERS OF DEATH***:

--Bruno and Abbacchio have been dating for a while, it's established in the story and not a secret from the rest of the Buccigang

--Bruno became Don and leads the Buccigang directly under him, so none of them got chosen as a capo. sees the gang as his kids and Abbacchio as their father

--Buccigang spared Risotto's life when they found him which led to him giving them a warning about Doppio, Abbacchio's life was saved

--Giorno kept Gold Experience ready to heal during King Crimson's attack (in that hallway where Narancia died) in case time was skipped and someone got injured, Narancia was saved

--Doppio didn't die by Mista because as soon as he woke up he called out for Diavolo, letting the Buccigang know that it wasn't the boss in Bruno's body

--Bruno survived because Mista destroyed the Rolling Stone stand, i do not care about the canon that should have saved our mommy

--When Diavolo got put in the infinite death loop by G.E.R, King Crimson shattered and Epitaph separated from it, letting Doppio have his own body, soul and stand apart from Diavolo

--Giorno and Mista romance will develop over the course of the story, looking for lots of recommendations involving them because I'm not quite sure how to go about it

--Trish is lesbian and sticks to the personality she showed when she was first introduced (so she's kinda sassy but a great friend. SHE WILL HAVE MORE STAND BATTLES. SPICE GIRL WILL BE THERE.)

--Narancia is ADHD and autistic, based him after my own minor autism. I also let him be asexual because I might be projecting...

--Fugo does return to the gang but he was in Venezia for a while after the canon ending of Vento Aureo, and contacts the team to let them know he wants to come back. I'm not including anything from Purple Haze Feedback because not everyone has read it (and he wouldn't be so guilty since all of them survived)

--there's a capo in Rome trying to kill Bruno because he was Diavolo's rival for the title of Don, Diavolo couldn't get rid of him because both of their stands were too powerful

--that capo is the main enemy and he has a group of 6 executioners that all have stands i made up and Buccigang is gonna beat their asses

--la squadra all survived too because Melone's death was uncalled for and i want my little manwhore back

So my uncle moved in today for the first time in over 8 years. (he just got out of the army)

He said he feels like an attack helicopter, they both said you're not until you get diagnosed. Did you get diagnosed? Then ur not cus that's how it works and basically really invalidated me and it was a mistake to say anything I should've just kept it secret but I guess I know how they'll react to anything I say now. And he's made the attack helicopter joke before and later mum made him apologize. And he said he apologizes for his love on the spectrum jokes but still feels like an attack helicopter and it turned into a big thing and it just fucking sucks. I should've kept it secret and I was going to. ☆ For my second choice, I say Jack would fit as well. Jack, while being a big buff beast-man, is an overall sweetheart. He would be another perfect match for you! ☆ He didn’t mind your language, instead taking it in stride that you are warming up to him and feeling safe around him to lower your guard and let loose! Even if it's swearing and being a goofball. ☆ He is quick to detect if you are going to possibly have a panic attack/severe anxiety in a situation and is quick to deter it. He wraps his arms around you gently, before mumbling soft praises while keeping you nice and safe from possible threats.

☆ WIth your hobbies he would gladly help you train! Having you teach him how you do karate and Kobudo would make him all excited as he shows you the stretching and running practice he uses for running! 

☆ The origami amazed him even more because he thought it was so cool that you could change the paper into different shapes! Any origami pieces are saved in a neat box or next to the cactus that he named after you!

☆ My Last and third thought was Vil Schoenheit! Purely because despite having a regal and sorta scary appearance (He is so pretty that I would panic if I stood next to him) but he is overall a sweetheart! He would gladly boost you positively!

☆ He will lightly scold you for your language, but never really means it. He has a soft spot for you and knows that your cursing and being energetic are showing him that he has your trust and that he will gladly cherish it without a second thought. ☆ He gets very protective very fast when it comes to anxiety and panic attacks. He will quickly excuse the both of you and bring you to a quiet, secure place before having you do breathing exercises, Hugging you close as you name items you can see as you ground yourself from the severe anxiety.

☆ He is very supportive of your hobbies, granted he does fret about you in case you do get hurt, being that karate a kubodo are contact sports, meaning he is cheering you on as you go against your opponent but has the first aid kit quickly so he can treat any possible wounds.

☆ Your origami is also very supported! Vil, himself knows how to do it. So he makes you a very special gift of your favorite animal made out of paper. Similar to Jack he too has a box filled with both your and his creations.

cw vent // possible discrimination(?) // and maybe a long ask

I know that I already talked to my high school counselors about this but I feel like I should also tell you this.

So, one of my periods was Culinary 2, I already attended Culinary 1 w/ the same teacher and her class is also bake-shop. We'll call her Mrs. K. Now, Mrs. K IS a nice teacher, sure a bit of a pain, but she is now a far more LARGER pain in the ass after today.

So today me & my friend (we'll call him "G" <- he was the friend that is the cis bi metalhead I was talking about) were suppose to do a steak lab where we get to season our own steak and have it w/ rice and potatoes. We were both excited about it, obviously. Though, as I walk in, she says that I didn't do Chap. 11 notes and that they were my "ticket" to the lab. Now, I was HIGHLY confused about this, so I went to see if maybe I forgot to submit.

It turns out, I didn't submit some game meat note questions. Because, apparently, they were suppose to be due today instead of the date that it was assigned to--which SAYS they were due on March 29th, so I had plenty of time to due them. "G" says that he didn't see the notes because they didn't appear on the front page of them--we both thought we were okay to do lab because we did all the notes, but I guess not!! Trust me, we were both a bit frustrated by this.

Now, here is where things go and get worse.

Mrs. K said that she was going to talk to me after setting up the lab for the other students who were eligible for lab minus those who weren't. After twenty minutes, she goes to explain that we didn't do the notes on the deadline and therefore we couldn't participate. So I go and tell her that I wasn't aware due to the fact that the notes were set on a different date and that "G" didn't see them. She goes to say, "But I was telling the class all week to do their notes, so maybe you should've been seeing what they've been doing." Okay, rude bitch.

Now, as a bit of a deeper info: I have autism, along with depression, anxiety, PTSD, violent intrusive thoughts, and selective empathy, and (possibly, still not sure) an obsessive personality disorder; "G" has autism, ADHD, depression, bipolar disorder, sensory issues, intrusive thoughts and gets panic attacks--he also has another disability that affects his reading, which I mostly understand since I've often be a bit dyslexic and might mispronounce a word or misread the time. There is also another girl in the class with ASD as well, but she's a bit lower on the quote/unquote "autism scale." The rest of the class--I believe--is just mostly allistic/neurotypical.

So, "G" responded to Mrs. K saying that he has a disability that affects his reading and so on. So she went and said, "Well, if you're having trouble reading, do you need to sit at the front again?" So he got mad and stormed off outside to calm himself down as he was about to have a panic attack, leaving ME alone with HER.

So, I explain to her, AGAIN, that the date was different and that I didn't think I needed to do it TODAY. So she explains that the reason why the date (March 29) was different was because it was also the date grades get turned in. So I said, "Well, okay, but no offense, but that's just a bit misleading. Because how am I suppose to know when it is turned in with the dates are all different?"

It gets WORSE.

After I've said it, she then asks, "Well, didn't you hear me say it this week it needs to be turned in?" Now, as an autistic person, I tend to not answer right away, as I either need time to say an answer or I kinda lock up. So here I am, somewhat stammering to try and say, and she asks again: "Didn't you hear me say it? Yes or no?" And I say, still trying to answer her, "Well--yes, I did hear it--but, y'know--"

So, SHE TURNS TO THE FREAKING CLASS, who was doing their lab, and she (sorta) yells out, "Class! Didn't I say that the notes needed to be due this week?" And they go and verbally agree with her, somewhat loudly, while I'm sitting there, embarrassed that she humiliated me + also my friend who returned from calming himself down. This wasn't the first time she verbally humiliated/embarrassed her students, and it was mostly those who were a bit procrastinating, but only over and assignment or two.

After "G" comes back, we both proceed to defend ourselves. BUT, just "but," she goes and coaxes us like literally fucking children by saying: "Oh, well if you are having trouble with dates, I could personally write you two a calendar on what needs to be done and tell you." I am 16 (10th grade) and he is 18 (12th grade), he is practically a young adult and I am somewhat a sorta-adult as well. We are not fucking toddlers. Plus, this was the only time we were having trouble with dates since we both mostly get our work done.

So we both get mad and went to our counselor. Of course, I was reasonable a bit and decide to get a note from Mrs. K so I wasn't going to be in trouble or at least say that I have a note excusing us from class. I should've said it before in the beginning that the steak lab was the only day today to do it so we can not do it tomorrow and that'll risk us points.

So yeah, I'm still a bit pissed off. We already talked to the counselors about it and they said that they will follow up after spring break. I was just mostly glad we had someone to talk to us and not be rude. They listened to us very carefully and weren't rude 'n' stuff; we took turns talking about the experience.

tl;dr: the culinary teacher was very rude and I walked out of that toxic environment w/ friend.

Sorry that you had to read this reign. I kinda just wanted to talk to other friends about it. I know that you've had shared some ableist experiences and problems, so I figured I'd share mine. /gen

When a student tells you they have a disability and that’s why they messed something up, if your response is “well everyone ELSE did it” or you then treat them like a baby, you shouldn’t be a fucking teacher. I’ve definitely had authority figures like this, it’s really annoying. I’m sorry you didn’t get to do the lab either :// im tired of disabled students always been treated like we are just lazy or it’s just an excuse. Like, one of my best friends is legally blind and one of my teachers KNEW that and then didn’t accommodate them on any of the tests. I get panic attacks with presentations and i told my teacher and they were just like “everyone has to do the presentation”. I also have dyslexia and another learning disorder and my teacher got mad at me for needing extended time on assignments and tests. All of this to say, i know how you’re feeling and I’m really sorry 💕💕💕

Hey regular reminder I'm pro-self dx. Being anti-self dx is ableist and often also intersects with other -isms die to the fact that doctors (particularly in the West) love to not take the issues of minorities seriously and/or reflect biases based on gender.

You wanna make an argument about how "oh, but psychologists have studied this all their lives"? Sure. If they studied specific BRANCHES of psychology. A lot of psychologists honestly are only equipped for depression, anxiety, and life environment issues. Finding specialists takes fucking ages and more often than not is stupidly expensive. Do you wanna know how many trans specialists there are in my area that take my insurance, and are also knowledgeable in autism? Fucking none! So I'm self-diagnosed with gender dysphoria. I have been for the past 3 years.

My mom-- my 40 year old mom who has a BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY-- is self-diagnosed with DID. She was abused extensively by therapists for having a personality disorder, on top of deadass 10 other mental illnesses she was actually diagnosed with. You aren't mocking internet TikTok kids when you're mocking the self diagnosed. You're mocking those who were abused by the system, repeatedly silenced, railroaded onto medication they didn't need, and who found answers and solace when doing HOURS, and I mean HOURS of research into what they suspected to have on their own.

I'm not "self-suspecting" on if I have ADHD or PTSD. I have fucking literally experienced panic attacks, flashbacks, and fight or flight responses on a consistent basis. I've struggled with executive dysfunction and inattentiveness to the point I was misdiagnosed with depression. Shove that "oh you're just ~self-suspecting~" shit straight up your ass and have some damn empathy for those who are mocked by doctors for saying they think they're neurodivergent. Placed on actual placebo stimulants because they think people claiming to have ADHD are meth junkies. People who are told their symptoms are "just depression" and then are driven to suicide by SSRIs.

I'm not anti-psych by a wide, wide margin. But I cannot fucking stand the ignorance and arrogance of people who themselves don't know anything about psychology, who then try to bully and silence those who have fucking scoured every book and resource they can find just trying to figure out what the fuck is wrong with them so they can move on with their lives-- whether this means self-acceptance, finding community, researching coping mechanisms, or for some but far from all, actually pursuing a professional diagnosis. Psychology is my special interest. I think I know more about it than the guy insisting that psychologists know everything about every disorder like it ISN'T a unique type of hell to find therapists who are at least knowledgeable of your entire psychological profile.
