How Kanej is different from other ships:

Instead of going on a date, the go on a heist

Instead of kissing, the stare at one another (in a very intense way on that matter)

Instead of hugging, they protect one another

Instead of dancing, they fight together

Instead of physical intimacy, they are more about emotional intimacy

On one side, I'm glad that my OTP is so unique and special, but on the other side, I still feel bad because they are clearly touch-starved. The reason why they can't do what other couples can do is because they are just that traumatized. Kaz was robbed of an innocent childhood and Inej lost all her first times. They were forced to grow up too soon. They were lonely and hardened but found comfort with each other. They've spent so much time together that there are things they know about each other that nobody else in the universe knows. Only Inej can likely tell the difference between the click of his cane when he's in a good mood or when he's in a bad mood. Only Kaz knows that she squares her shoulders before she fights.

The book did say, "He had carried her, fought beside her, spent whole nights next to her, both of them on their bellies, peering through a long-glass, spying on some warehouse or merch's mansion."

Note the "Spent whole nights next to her."

He spent entire nights with her. 10-12 hours, and for two years straight. They spied together, fought together, schemed together, solved murder mysteries together, stole things together, went from one place to the next together.

Okay maybe I’m just late to the party realising this but you guys when Kaz talks about Geels and his girlfriend in chapter 2 of Six of Crows is it meant to be implicit reference to him and Inej as a set up for the rest of the duology???

This is the quote that made me think this just now:

“You love her, don’t you? Of course you do, no-one that fine should have ever looked twice at Barrel scum like you but she’s different. She finds you charming. Sure sign of madness if you ask me, but love is strange that way”

And then that’s followed by Geels giving up on all the planning and scheming he’s done to be able to kill Kaz so that Kaz won’t hurt Elise!?

The entire scene is about Kaz trusting Inej blindly to get to the other guard on time and save his life??

They talk about *geraniums* in the window box of 19 Burdtradt!!?????

The more I think about this the more I love it but idk maybe I’m reading into it too much? Lemme know what you guys think

Oh my god I just realised that the first time Kaz and Jordie got cornered by gang members they shoved Kaz in the canal and Jordie fished him out and it’s all a metaphor not only because Kaz used Jordie to survive to get back to the city from the Reaper’s Barge so it was once again Jordie who helped him out of the water but because now Kaz is drowning and Jordie isn’t there, he’s drowning in the Ketterdam harbour and his brother isn’t there to fish him out excuse me I’m just gonna go cry for eternity I’ll be right back
