The bracket is here!!!

For the first round, there will be 55 "byes" (the ones who do not have byes were randomly determined, but all were one submission preliminary winners). There was an exact tie between Erina and Robert from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Willow and Xander from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so they both made the bracket! Also, there was so much passion for Agent Beakley and Scrooge McDuck that I just had to include them! So in total, there are 73 competitors. Ok, so in Ba Sing Se, Team Mum Katara lives across the hall from an odd pair – snarky, neurotic Zuko and happy-go-lucky Aang. (Plus Aaang’s pets Appa and Momo). Down the street is Katara’s dorky brother Sokka and her old flatmate Toph – a former wild child who ran away from home. The series kicks off when Suki – an old high school friend of Sokka, Katara and Aang’s – moves to the city and in with Katara.

Sokka is recovering from the death of his fiancée Yue, but he had a major crush on Suki back in the day and her return ignites FEELINGS. Meanwhile, Katara and Zuko have been friends forever (after a shaky start when he was Sokka’s college roommate) but…is there something more?

The gang go through life, getting up to shenanigans and hanging out in the tea shop run by Zuko’s Uncle Iroh. Aang tries to figure out his path in life jumping from job to job, Zuko deals with his abusive father who’s a high-profile politician and businessman in Caldera City, Toph struggles to reconnect with her parents, Suki pursues her dream of starting a female-led martial arts programme/centre, Sokka is a giant engineering nerd, and Katara juggles reforming the world** and keeping everyone fed.

(Career-wise: Sokka is an engineer, Suki is a marital artist who teaches women’s self-defense, Aang’s done everything (jewellery maker! zoo keeper! world traveller!), Katara is an activist of some kind. (Environmental lawyer? Union organiser? Doctor/nurse-turned-health care reformer??), Zuko originally studied law and business to join the family company but now works in NGO and/or government law. Toph is ??? (A professional athlete? In construction? Security? Another martial artist? Idk, too many options!) )

Aang, Sokka, and Zuko : No!

Suki: Alright, that’s it, you guys. What happened out there?

Aang: What? We took a walk. Nothing happened. I came back with nothing all over me.

Suki: What does that mean?

Katara: Come on, what happened? Sokka?

Sokka: Alright.

Aang: No. Sokka, we swore we’d never tell!

Zuko : They’ll never understand.

Sokka: But we have to say something. We have to get it out. It’s eating me alive.

Sokka: Aang got stung by a jellyfish!

Aang: Alright! I got stung. Stung bad. I couldn’t stand. I- I couldn’t walk.

Zuko : We were two miles from the house. We were scared and alone. We didn’t think we could make it.

Aang: I was in too much pain.

Sokka: And I was tired from digging a huge hole.

Zuko : And then Sokka remembered something.

Sokka: I’d seen this thing in the Discovery Channel.

Katara: Wait a minute, I saw that. On the Discovery Channel. Yeah, about jellyfish and how if you— EW! You peed on yourself?

Suki and Toph: EW!!

Aang: You can’t say that! You don’t know! I thought I was gonna pass out from the pain. Anyway, I tried, but I couldn’t... bend that way. So... *looks at Sokka*

Katara, Suki, and Toph: Ew!

Sokka: That’s right. I stepped up. They’re my friend and they needed help. If I had to, I’d pee on any one of you.

Sokka: Only, uh, I couldn’t. I got stage fright. I wanted to help but there was too much pressure. So, I, um, I turned to Zuko .

Zuko : Sokka kept screaming at me, “Do it now. Do it. Do it now.” Sometimes, late at night I can still hear the screaming.

Sokka: That’s because sometimes I just do it through my wall to freak you out.

Just one thing I noticed while listening to my favourite podcasts

I was on a business trip the last two days and heard podcasts most of the time: “Pod of Greed” (podofgreed here at tumblr) and “My Podcabbages”. Getting more and more weary on my seven hour drive, I noticed something:

The main characters in “Yu-Gi-Oh!” and “Avatar: The Last Airbender” are nearly the same. Don’t believe me? Here is the prove!

I present you: The protagonist!

Small guy, with a funny (or no) hair style. Has an adorable face and is immediately loved by the audience.

Of course this shy, cute boy has to have a dark side. In this two cases they are both possessed by an ancient spirit, that makes them better at fighting/gaming. At the beginning, they don’t know about it or don’t know how to controll it.

Next up: The antagonist!

Strong personality with a daddy complex. Get defeated by the protagonist in the first episode and spend nearly the rest of the series to get back their honor. Stil help the protagonist, when they battle the realy bad guys. My personal opinion on them: The most sexy and missunderstood characters in the whole series. (Maybe my Kaiba-fetish is the reason I instantly fell in love with Zuko...?)

The “girl”

Strong female character who supports the protagonist by cheering on him. Has some good moments herself, but most of the time is there to care about him and reassure him in his actions. Has a crush on him and vice versa that is more or less explicitly mentioned in the series

The “best friend” / “male support”:

Has to warm up with the protagonist in the beginning (based on YGO season 0) but accompanies the protagonist from the moment they realise, that they are no threat to them. A little bit silly sometimes and tend to make bad jokes / puns. Are not especially good at battle / gaming but still a good support for the protagonist, since they don’t shine brighter then him. Show the most iromantic nterest in girls outside of the main group. For Yu-Gi-Oh! actually Joey and Tristan fit best. A combination of them is Sokka.

Sorry for the long post, but it was necessary to get this out of my head, after thinking about it for a far too long drive.
