Work Song
Tumblr media
No grave can hold my body down, I’ll crawl home to her
Pairing: Nanami x f!reader
Word Count: ~1.6k
cw: mentions of d*ath, bl*od, burn injuries, canon-divergent, set in the canon-universe during the Shibuya Incident Arc, MAJOR spoilers up to Shibuya Arc, angst, hurt/comfort, established relationship, happy ending
Summary: You’re a healer working with Shoko inside the medical tent at Shibuya Station while Nanami, your boyfriend, is in the line of fire for the battle ahead. After an especially life-threatening attack, Nanami, on the brink, runs into an old friend, who helps guide him back home.
Author’s Note: @75songs thank you so much for sending in another request for the y2k karaoke party, always appreciate your love and support! I ADORE this song and have honestly always thought it was perfect for Nanami. I am an anime only and am not caught up with season 2 yet, so I didn’t want to read too much into what exactly happens during this arc, so some of the details may be inaccurate, just a heads up. This one got me in my feelings. I will forever hold a grudge against Gege for what they did to Nanami. Anyways, likes, reblogs, and/or comments are always appreciated! Thanks so much for reading! Divider by @/saradika.
Tumblr media
October 31st. Maybe in another timeline, another reality, you and Nanami would be celebrating Halloween tonight, passing colorful candies and decadent chocolates to kids going door-to-door across the neighborhood. You’d force him to dress up in a silly costume, one that matches yours, despite his reluctance at first. Deep down, you know he likes this; domestic bliss, especially with you. The idea that the two of you could live a peaceful life together, away from the dangerous world of curses and Jujutsu sorcery. You discuss it constantly, dream about it, strive for it. A few more years, he says, and he’ll retire. There’s still more work to be done, people to be saved.
You’re inside the medical tent beside Shoko, helping her set up the cots, anticipating injured sorcerers to arrive soon with the battle underway. Masamichi Yaga, Jujutsu High’s principal, stands guard outside, determined to keep the medical team, especially Shoko, safe from any posing threats. There’s no way to know what’s happening until people start arriving, in need of medical attention. You’re a healer too, but not nearly as skilled as Shoko, your mentor. Still, she encourages you to join them tonight, needing all the help they can get.
“Are you feeling okay?” she asks, setting up the last bed. Observant as ever, she notices your quiet demeanor.
You nod, giving her a weak, unconvincing smile. “Yeah.”
“Nanami is going to be fine,” she assures you, sensing the root of your anxiety. “When this is all done, the two of you should take a vacation together.”
Relaxing a bit, you reply, “We already have our trip to Malaysia planned in a few months.”
She smiles kindly. “There you go. Something to look forward to.”
Her words ease some of the tension, but there’s dread settling in the pit of your stomach, and it won’t go away until you see Nanami again in one piece.
The waiting game finally ends as soon as the first wounded sorcerer shows up in the tent, initiating nonstop chaos. You assist Shoko diligently, making sure everything is prepared for her to perform her Reverse Cursed Technique for those who need it, and patching up those who don’t, with less severe injuries. You’re constantly on the lookout to see a familiar face, trying to get an update on what’s happening out there. None comes, until you see Kiyotaka Ijichi limping towards the entrance, blood spread across his shirt. You and Shoko rush towards him, carrying him over your shoulders, leading him to an empty cot, gently laying him down.
Shoko, showing panic on her face for the first time all night, inspects him carefully. “Ijichi, can you hear me?” She’s always had a soft spot for him, often telling you how endearing she finds him, always a nervous wreck in front of her. Seeing him like this is surely jarring, even for her, who’s as tough as nails.
He nods weakly, mumbling something incoherent, blood sputtering from his mouth. You remove the shattered glasses from his eyes, wiping his lips with gauze. Shoko starts to work on him, directing you to check on the other patients. Before you can follow orders, you feel his weak grip on your wrist. You turn to face him, focused on his lips as he quietly utters, “Nanami.”
Your ears perk up at the mention of your boyfriend’s name, leaning in closer to hear the rest of what he has to say, taking his time through labored breaths. “He…saved…me…”
You do your best to keep your composure, nodding at him silently, blinking away the tears welling in your eyes. Unsure how to respond, you leave them, going to the other side of the tent to check on the remaining sorcerers.
With everyone else in stable condition, you take a minute outside the tent to sob into your hands, praying that Nanami is still alive. Unaware of your surroundings, you’re startled when Yaga approaches, his large figure sitting beside you. “You alright?”
You wipe away your sniffles on your sleeve. “Just…nervous.”
He crosses his arms over his chest, sighing. “Yeah, I get it. But Nanami is one of our strongest sorcerers. I don’t think you have anything to worry about.”
Again, more words of comfort, but not enough to ease the nervous flutter in your belly. Yaga recognizes this and adds, “Nanami would fight through the fires of hell instead of letting himself die. Not because he wants to live for himself. But because he wants to live for you.”
You face him now, processing his statement. He chuckles, lifting his sunglasses to meet your gaze. “That man has never been so smitten in his life. He’d crawl out his grave just to be with you, I guarantee it.”
~~~
The last thing Nanami remembers is desperately wishing he was in Malaysia with you instead of at Shibuya Station right now. He wakes up, sitting in one of the seats on the platform. It’s eerily quiet with no one in sight. The distinct sounds of trains on the rails or the hustle and bustle of people moving along is strangely absent, and it occurs to Nanami that this may be a dream.
He's sure of it when he feels a nudge to his side, turning to face Yu Haibara sitting next to him. There’s a warm smile on his boyish face, dressed in his Jujutsu High uniform, exactly as he was many years ago when Nanami last saw him, alive and well. The same bright, earnest eyes he remembers vividly of his best friend. He swallows hard, an uneasy feeling surrounding him. Is he seeing a ghost? Or is this the afterlife?
Haibara laughs, and Nanami is snapped out of his reverie and taken immediately back to 2006, when he first met his friend during orientation. He can’t help but grin, happy to see him still so lively. “Well, aren’t you going to greet your old friend, Nanami?”
Nanami does, hugging him, astonished to feel him in his arms almost like a real person. Almost. “What are you doing here?”
“Just came to visit you, that’s all.”
Nanami lets him go, studying him carefully, looking for any signs of decay. When he spots none, he asks him, “Am I dead?”
Haibara shakes his head. “Not quite. But you’re pretty damn close.”
“I am?”
“Yeah. So you better hurry and get home quick.” Haibara points towards the railings, now illuminated at one end by a blinding flash of light. “Yuji’s waiting for you.”
“Itadori? How do you know – “
Haibara then says your name with a big smile. “Yeah, I know her too. They’re all waiting for you, Nanami. You don’t want to keep them waiting any longer, do you?”
It takes a while for Nanami to get up, and when he does, he’s off balance, legs wobbly, body unsteady. Haibara helps him, offering his shoulder, the two of them walking slowly towards the light. “I really like her, you know. Your girlfriend.”
“You do?” Nanami asks, hobbling beside him.
“Yeah. She’s really nice, really pretty, and she eats a lot, especially with you,” he chuckles. “You know how much I like that.”
“Yeah I do.”
“And I’m a good judge of character, so I think she’s perfect for you. If that means anything,” he says, proudly.
“It does. It means a lot.” They’re near the edge of the platform now and Nanami will have to hop down to reach the end of the tunnel.
“Are you going to marry her soon?” Haibara asks, pausing just before the edge.
Nanami nods, grinning. “I’m planning to propose during our vacation in Malaysia.”
“Good. Good.”
He’s tempted to stay longer, wanting a few more moments with his friend, but he knows that time is ticking. He hugs him again, squeezing him tight. “Take care, Haibara.”
“You too, Nanami. I’ll be looking out for you.”
His chest constricts, jumping off the platform, landing roughly on the railings, blinking away the tears in his eyes. It’s sweltering now, the light emitting an intense heat from within. He gives Haibara one last glance, cherishing the happy expression on his face as he waves goodbye to him before walking into the light.
Seconds later, Nanami wakes up with a gasp of breath, vision blurred, a droning pounding beating against his ear drums. It soon fades and only Yuji’s panicked voice yelling from behind him is heard. He’s being dragged by the armpits, away from the battle. Smoke radiates from his entire form, and he can barely move. In fact, he can barely feel anything at all.
They reach the medical tent, Itadori yelling for help the whole way. Yaga is the first to reach them, his usual calm demeanor wavering at the sight of Nanami, body half-burned from the explosion. They carrying him delicately inside, resting him on the only empty cot left. He wants to close his eyes; he’s so exhausted, and sleep is the only thing to bring him peace right now. That, or you.
As if his prayers were heard, you appear at his side, truly a vision, even while you sob for him, holding his mangled hand in yours, begging for him to stay with you. He can die happy now, seeing your face, knowing that you’re here, alive, heart beating, surviving. Can he do the same? Can he survive this? All he knows is that he’s trying with every fiber he has left in his being. He won’t leave you, not like this. Not without experiencing life on the outside with you.
It’s in this moment that he vows to endure. Even if he has to crawl out of his grave to do it, he’s determined to be with you again.
~~~
November 1st. Maybe in another timeline, another reality, Nanami is gone. Not in this one, though. Instead, you sit beside him, healed and in one piece thanks to Shoko, fingers laced with his, careful not to squeeze too tightly. Yuji and Ino are at his other side, talking animatedly about how amazing Nanami was the entire fight, and all he can do is lay there, smiling. Happy to be alive. Happy to be with you.

"Uh, Y/n-chan, you're certain you can carry all that by yourself?"
"My stuff. My concern." You struggled speaking as your form struggled carrying those big boxes of yours in your arms; breathing deeply through your nostrils to keep your focus despite your knees quivering. '"I - I'm fine!"
Suguru sighed before snapping his fingers. Several of his curses floated amok and carried the boxes right out of your arms in time before you plopped forward from the imbalance, only to be pulled back flushing your back against Geto's front.
"Honey, it's alright. Satoru and I can handle the rest of your things. You shouldn't be pushing yourself too hard on your first day here."
"I'm sorry. I'm just ... nervous. This is all new to me ... but I still want to help at least."
Geto hummed, nodding in understanding, before kissing you tenderly on the forehead, smiling calmly. "Well thank you love. Having you living with us now is worth all the effort."
"In that case," You grabbed your duffle bag of stuff with ease, smiling, "I'll handle this."
The giddy stride of the oldest of you three popped up in the living room archway, swaying his smart phone about. "Suguru~! I was thinking we get sushi to celebrate Y/n-chan living with us now~! Sushi Go is my top choice, of course! Ginza, here we come – !"
"Satoru. Unpacking first. Eat later. Remember?" Suguru groaned.
"Eh?! Who paid to have all Y/n-chan's stuff packed and moved here in the first place? At least my family's fortune has some good use in this case." Gojo wearily spoke when his family gets brought up. "Anyhow ..."
Gojo swept Geto in one arm and you in the other with such ease, cheeriness immediately taking over. "House tour time~!!!"
Geto's exasperated smile and your giggling self at Gojo's boundless energy gave him that extra burst in his step while giving you the tour of every place in your shared private home nestled in suburbia. "Living room for binge time and cuddles, kitchen where Suguru will stuff our faces with such goodness, pool for soaking antics, hot tub for burning passion –!"
"We get the picture, Satoru." Geto's flushed, smug grinning face at the commentary had Gojo snickering, nodding his head in your direction.
"I don't know~ Looks to me our darling Y/n-chan is tongue tied right now~" Gojo chuckled lightly as you couldn't look at either of them at the moment.
"Not because of you, for sure." Geto snorted.
"Eh?" Gojo's smug ass bubble popped, following Geto's finger pointing at what enraptured you.
Setting you down gently, letting you slip away from his grasp, both men watched with affectionate smiles as you slid the glass doors aside to step out onto the back patio to see up close.
Your eyes sparkled in childlike wonder at seeing how expansive the back yards were. Lots of stone pathways, different oriented trees planted all over, rolling hills teeming with so many blooming flowers, and a view of the mountains in the distance. "Wow," You breathed out in mesmerized wonderment.
Feeling an arm drape around you, you were pulled flush against Geto's side. "This is yours, love."
"That's right. It's all ours." You both yelped as you were both now carried easily under Gojo's arms; wrapped around your waists and hanging like luggage. "And finally, last but far from least~!"
"Satoru, we can walk just fine, you know." Geto sighed, a bit peeved but mostly willing to let his lover's antics continue.
"The best room of them all!" Him kicking down the door helped enunciate the importance of this room; startling you and furthering Geto's bewildered amusement, "Our love making suite~!"
You squealed as he threw you to the bed, springing up at the bouncy, comfy master bed that was quite big for you three. Geto was thrown in after you on one side before Gojo belly flopped to the other, entrapping you in a cocoon of their arms, their enriching laughter mingling with their beautifully smiling faces turned you on hard.
The burning realization had you hiding your flustered self against the sheets.
"See~?! Now that's hot and bothered if I ever saw it~!" Gojo swooned, turning to his side as he one armed you from behind. "Makes me wanna kiss you so bad~" He heatedly breathed in your ear, cheekily grinning at your soft pleased mewl.
Geto smirked knowingly, laying on his side with his cheek resting in the palm of his propped-up arm, singing, "Toru~ About that lesson plan for the first years you said you'd draft up by today?"
"Ehhh~? Hands on practice will do just fine, Sugu~ Kinda like what we'll all be doing later tonight ... or right now~ Whaddaya say, sweetie~?" Gojo hummed as he gently grabbed your shoulder and flipped you to lay on your back.
"Can I at least unpack my duffle bag first?" You had to ask, hugging said bag to your chest. Geto's snorting face and Gojo's jaw slacked expression made you feel so dumbfounded as you tried sitting up while unzipping your bag. "And what about sushi~?" You whined, pouting.
Geto chuckled lightly, kissing you to cheer you up, winking at you both. "Unpack, eat, then smash. Kay, Toru~?"
Gojo dramatically sighed, collapsing in mock defeat. "Fine~! You're lucky I love you both." His own pout was wiped away instantly as you leaned down to peck his lips, too quick and short to his liking, as he sat up and watched you putting away the rest of your things around the room with Geto cuddling up beside him as he watched right along.
They wouldn't admit it out loud but they were both feeling grateful to share their personal private lives not just with each other, but also with you; their third partner.
A regular turned recent curse seer that just happened to work as a Window at Jujutsu Tech; their turf, only to bump into them both in passing ... the rest is history.
Seeing you finally put your bag away in your shared giant closet had them both glomp you from behind, smirking widely as they both had their own cheek to chew on and smooch to their liking and your giggling self.
Yep, living with the strongest sorcerer pair will be quite the treat.

Gojo x reader x geto MAJOR spoilers for jjk chap 236 I’m rlly not ok with Gege rn 😭
Tumblr media
He hears a voice. A voice so distinct, yet a voice he seemed to have forgotten. Yet he remembers it so clearly.
“Late as usual, eh? Satoru.”
It’s your voice.
But then another. Another that feels more familiar, but still one he never thought he’d hear again.
A voice he’d hear be the real him, again, anyway.
“Cut him some slack y/n-chan.” geto sighs, with a smile and hands in his huge pockets with those dumb oversized yoga pants.
Satoru opens his eyes, seeing the two people he adored with his whole sense of self. Everything he’s ever done, even after you two left, had been for the both of you.
But it takes him aback, seeing you.
Don’t get him wrong, he loves suguru. It was a blessing to see him, even when things got complicated. But he hasn’t seen you in… what? Ten years?
Satoru feels the need to push back his tears and smile it all down, just like he always has.
You’re eighteen. So is suguru. So is he. Back when it was simple. Back when even though things had changed, you three promised one another that you’d be there through thick and thin. Whether satoru was stronger than the both of you or not, you all loved eachother the same.
In a way, you had been the glue that stuck the three of you together. Even when suguru was losing faith, you always got him out of his funk.
The world took you from them too soon. Due to the negligence of the higher ups, both you and haibara were taken from them. From nanami. From shoko.
Once Suguru had lost the only positive things in his life, he had completely lost himself. You were no longer there to lift him up, you were no longer there to get him out of that damn shower, no longer there to help him get some sleep, no longer there to help him eat.
It was hard on satoru too, but even he can’t imagine what it was like for suguru.
Suguru loved you so much, when he lost you, he couldn’t handle it. He has decided the world was better without non shaman. It’s because of them, you were taken from him.
Satoru will never forget the day of your funeral.
“Y/n is dead, and everything is worse now.” Suguru told him, that very morning.
They were both broken, but in different ways.
Satoru on the other hand, wanted to make the world a better place for jujutsu sorcerers like you. He wants people to get stronger, to surpass even him, so that the world could be better for them. He hates the higher ups, and seeks to protect children like yuuji from them, because he failed to protect you from them in that way.
Satoru lets out a breath he didn’t know he was holding, standing up. For the first time in his life, if he can even call it that, he gives you a wobbly grin, diving in to hug you. He needs to feel you again. Smell you again.
He needs to know you’re really here with him.
“Dawww…” you say, your voice almost teasing. Now that he thinks about it, it definitely was.
Even under these circumstances, you never change.
“You miss me?” you say, wrapping your arms around him too, not admitting how much you missed him as well. He nods with a sniffle, “more than anything.” he whispers, before pulling away.
Suguru smiles at the moment between you and satoru.
“It’s too bad you lost, you know.” you say, “I was watching and everything!” you whine, and satoru gives you a light smile. “Maybe I should’ve shown off a little before going down like that, then.” he says with a grin.
“But honestly, it was fun.” Satoru admits.
“Well, I’m a little jealous..” suguru says, “but if you’re satisfied with that, then I guess I’m happy for you” suguru gives him a close eyed smile. Satoru had forgotten how much he missed seeing it.
Satisfied, huh?
“Honestly, if you were still there on my side, cheering me on, maybe then, I would’ve been satisfied.” Satoru says with a more genuine smile.
Suguru laughs, and satoru fails to notice the tears well up in his eyes upon hearing those words.
All this time, suguru thought satoru hated him. Hated him for everything he’s done. He wouldn’t blame him for it either. When suguru saw you for the first time, he thought you’d hate him too. But looking back on it, he should know you better than that. He should know satoru better than that, too.
“Is that so?” he asks, his shaky voice seems to give him away.
He nods.
“There’s been many times, I’d wish you were still there with me. Watching me raise my students, with a proud smile.” Satoru feels his own voice get shaky, looking at the man he loved.
“Man,” you let out a lighthearted sigh, “you’re both idiots, you know?” you say with a carefree grin.
Satoru turns to pout at you, “yeah, well! Whatever…” he rolls his eyes. “I’m sure it’s easy for you to not have any regrets when it comes to us, huh? You’re always so perfect at relationships and communicating and all that garbage.” he says, sticking out his tongue. Suguru can only laugh at him, as if he missed seeing satoru like this.
“You’ve got it all wrong, satoru.” your grin becoming soft. Something he hasn’t seen in god knows how long.
“I do have my regrets with you both. Well, only one.” you say, looking off to the side. Both boys look at you in anticipation. ‘So even suguru doesn’t know?’ Satoru wonders to himself.
“Honestly, I never had the balls to say it to either of you at the time, or even suguru this past year. However,”
you look at the both of them, a fondness in your eyes that both boys had missed seeing. You never did get this emotional and vulnerable, not often anyway.
“my only regret, was not being able to marry the both of you.”

synopsis. gege ensures that you’ll never really get your satoru back.

Tumblr media
"chairs?" you raised an eyebrow at ieiri who placed two foldable chairs down side by side, gesturing for you to take one. satoru’s glasses were resting on the top of her head.
"comfort,” she said like it was obvious. a tone so dismissive and natural it almost wasn’t like you were about to potentially watch satoru die. if you even saw him at al. “it's been a stressful few weeks thanks to this idiot getting himself locked up."
you scoffed. an understatement to say the least.
it had only been nineteen days, but in those nineteen days everything had gotten so so so much worse. you hadn’t even had the chance to give nanami the memorial he deserved and your heart ached at the loss of your close friend. your heart completely fragmented into pieces, however, when you thought of megumi and his current state as sukuna’s vessel.
you weren’t sure if you’d be able to look satoru in the eye.
“hey,” ieiri grabbed a hold of your hand that had balled itself into a tight fist, knuckles turning white. “this will work. we’ll be okay.”
you give her a tight-lipped smile back, gently squeezing her hand in response. if you opened your mouth, all that would come out would be another broken sob. ieiri was basically your sister, but to lose all four people you’d started this mess of a world with… you’re not sure you had it in you to cope.
satoru was your tether to sanity. you hated the jujutsu world — it was an inherently misogynistic society built upon pillars of conservative outlooks. satoru had become this beacon of what could be and offered you a glimpse of a world where curses don’t dominate your every decision.
to lose satoru would be to lose a star. he was the foundations that kept the crumbling world stood and without him there’d be anarchy. without him you’d have nothing to lose.
"jacob's ladder!"
you’re brought back to
"missed me?" that voice.
you spun on your heel and yes, gojo satoru, the man you loved was standing right there. his blindfold was gone and his uniform ripped apart but he seemed to be in one piece. you were terrified to touch him, to speak to him, to acknowledge him.
because in your dreams, the moment you believed he was real you woke up. you didn’t want to wake up again. you were almost catatonic.
“baby? you’re still with me?” he sounded like he was teasing you, an airiness in his tone that anyone with ears could pick up on. but his eyes told a different story.
he was worried — terrified even. neither of you thought you’d see the other again alive.
“can i touch you?” he asked when you failed to respond to him. it wasn’t inappropriate, satoru was just scared you’d run off. he’d never seen you so on edge in all the years you’d worked side by side.
you meekly nodded and he cupped your cheeks in his hands, leaning forward to press a kiss to your forehead. the second you felt his lips on yours and you didn’t find yourself sitting up straight into bed, the dam broke. you all but collapsed into satoru. your very real toru.
his reflexes were quick and he caught you by the waist, holding you to him as he tried to comfort you with sweet reassurances into your ear.
you wanted to apologise but no words beyond your quietening sobs could be formed. instead, you cling to his shirt instead, willing for this contact to never end so you’d never have to live another moment separated.
“i love you. never forget that,” satoru kissed your forehead again, lips lingering as he breathed in your shampoo — well, his. despite the fact the constant reminder of what you couldn’t have pained you, you used his shampoo and wore his clothes far too large for you to just to be able to smell him. you were doing everything in your power not to forget.
your pull back slightly, just enough for an inch or two of space to be created as you tilted your head up to your husband. he looked ethereal despite all that had happened.
you opened your mouth to ramble your congested thoughts (i love you toru, i’m sorry about megumi, please forgive me. i could never forget you) but a jarring sound as you stiffening and tightening your grip on satoru.
sukuna’s laugh shattered any glimpse of peace satoru had brought back to you.

maybe this is just my very hot take but I think people who want gojo to be relevant in jjk beyond what he has already done so far don't get the story. anyone who criticises yuuji as the mc doesn't understand jjk. it's confusing to me how gojo's entire goal is to prepare a new generation of sorcerers to be able to overthrow the system, seeing the young generation consolidate after his death even in such a disastrous situation and having such a big focus on the difference between gojo's generation and the kids and then having readers say stuff like "I want gojo to come back to defeat kenjaku". I swear it doesn't make sense to me how you read a story for over 200 chapters and still miss the point. yeah it's understandable to not get all the references or symbolism but the core of the story, really? the main message? I agree that there's criticism to be made about jjk and I'm one of the first to jump on the wagon when it comes to certain things but I really think gege receives an undeserved ammount of negative criticism for jjk. I also think gojo's death was obvious for a very long time but anyways. hope you have a good day, nico :)
Piping hot take, scalding even, but also one that I completely agree with.
I'd also like to point out that despite Gojo's position as the strongest of the modern era, and therefore someone that you would expect to have a large impact on the story by winning the fights that he's in, has never actually won a significant fight in the antagonists' favor.
The Jogo fight? Jogo and Hanami get away. The Goodwill Event? Hanami gets away and Mahito steals 3 death paintings + the school's supply of fingers. The first Toji fight? He loses and Riko dies. The second Toji fight? He wins, but it doesn't matter because killing Toji at this point wasn't necessary. The Shibuya fight? He gets sealed with the only major loss for the antagonists being Hanami and the transfigured humans in b5f. The Sukuna fight? He dies without dealing any lasting damage to Sukuna.
But it isn't just Gojo that isn't getting anything done for the older generation. Nanami dies to Mahito without killing a single antagonist in Shibuya. Mei Mei flees after almost dying to Kenjaku. Naobito flat out dies to Jogo after the Dagon fight.
As a matter of fact, the antagonists dealt more damage to themselves in Shibuya that anyone from the older generation of Sorcerers did. Choso quite literally takes himself out. Toji kills Dagon after Megumi makes it possible for him to get to him before taking himself out. Sukuna kills Jogo. Kenjaku exorcizes Mahito after Yuuji and Todo + Nobara nearly kill him.
Even more recently, you have Yuki dying to Kenjaku and Kashimo also dying to Sukuna.
All of this only reinforces the point that the story isn't about Gojo or any previous generation accomplishing anything. They're there to be an example; to show us, the audience, how jujutsu society operates and fails it's sorcerers, and to reinforce the themes of the story, but more importantly, to be an example for the students of what they need to surpass in order to achieve what no other generation could.
There are things that I absolutely will ctiticize Gege over - namely, his extremely limited use of his female characters that aren't Maki - but I agree that there's a lot of stuff that the fandom gives Gege shit over that they wouldn't if they understood/cared about the story more. Gege isn't a bad writer and JJK hasn't gone downhill as much as people like to say it has. Likewise, he isn't a bad writer for killing Gojo when everything in the story leading up to that point told us that Gojo would not and could not win that fight. And he won't be a bad writer if he never brings Gojo back when there isn't a single good reason for him to do so.
Which leads us inevitably back to the same question that I asked a while ago: For the people that fully believe that Gojo is going to come back; Why do you want that to happen and how would it benefit the story?

warning: gojo and reader were dating before he lost us, we're at the limb between life and death (were gojo sees all his loved ones okie i'm sad), spoilers of jjk236 but i just went full delulu (read under your own risk!!!!), death of characters (spoilers of the manga. death mentions, intentional lowercase, no proofread, this is selfish to cope with what gege did hmph..
"i'm tired." he whispers. your hand caress his white locks softly, your fingertips smoothly dancing on his head, his breath on your shoulder when he sighs.
"i know" you whisper back. you know the heavy burden satoru gojo has on his back - staying strong no matter how many of his friends die during the battle, keep going for them, for you. pushing his own limits to exhaustion just to make sure no other one he loves gets hurt.
standing in the middle of your bedroom, satoru's tall body seems smaller curved against yours. his hands are gripped on your waist, and you leave a kiss on his neck while your hands keep playing with his hair. "i'm so tired, love." his words break your heart. his black t-shirt is soft under your chin, as he takes air again. "what if i just give up?"
the words are said in low voice, but you catch them. taking his face away from your shoulder, you look in his teary eyes. they shine more than ever, reminding you to the sky, to the sea and the clouds. you can't stand seeing him suffer. you hold him close again, letting him bury his face on the crook of your neck again. satoru gojo has been told he's the strongest all his life. when he was nothing more than a kid with big curious eyes, and when he learnt how to use his powerful technique. what if he wasn't the strongest? he lost so many people. he lost nanami, he lost geto, he lost you.
he doesn't want to be the strongest if he can't have you by his side. what does it even mean to be invincible if he can't share his life with you? he's not sure, but he's tired of being always the one that sees how all his loved ones suffer.
your fingers trace the irregular cut on his waist as you find the right words for him. "i know you've suffered, 'toru." of course you do. so many sleepless nights by his side, holding him between your arms, reassuring him with soft words and slow kisses. "and i know you're tired." you feel his shaky breath on the way his back moves, erratic. "but you can't give up now, satoru."
your brain doesn't want to pronounce those words. you want him to stay there, with you, to hold you again and to kiss you again, to wake up in his arms and to hear his laugh every time your fingers tickle his sides. you want him to stay so bad, but you know that's not how it should be. you know he's more than capable to finish this, you know he still has people to look after. you can't mourn that he's not by your side when he has still so many life inside. "you have to live. for you, for your students, for megumi." the mention of the kid makes your lover sigh, trembling. "you have to live for me."
you had so many plans with him. from buying a house to adopting a dog, from visiting other countries to spend your holidays in family. you had so many plans, and they all are truncated now. you feel tears against your skin as your arms tighten around satoru. "they need you up there more than i do." you whisper. "save them, 'toru." he parts from your neck, looking at you in the eyes. you smile softly when he caresses your cheek, studying you. he smiles, broken.
"you're so pretty, my love." he whispers. and even though he didn't say it with words, you can feel the goodbye on his words, the bitter meaning behind his caress. he gets close to kiss your forehead. "i'll see you later, then."
you smile widely, feeling the salty taste of a tear on your lips.
"i hope it's not anytime soon, 'toru."

Another post? damn
I was on vacation a few weeks back and had no internet so I downloaded all Fanfciton that were Satoru/Shoko tagged and rated them.
Here are the ones I rated 5/5 ... so i guess this is a ff recommendation post lol
The delicate art of flirting
3rdgymbros
Words: 1,960, Satosho, 5/5
This is so good. I love that the first years get brought into the infirmary and they just KNOW ahahahahah. Also it’s just this casual side thing but there something so much deeper that i hurts which i like about this ship
Like a lost shirt
Lua
Words:1,520, Satosho, 5/5
I am a sucker for raw and "practical" relationships. Like this is exactly how I imagine them to grieve for Suguru and I love that so much can be left unsaid but the reader and Satoru and Shoko both just know. What they have isn't healthy but it's the only thing they can have. A happy and healthy relationship with someone else would just simply not work. They are both too fucked up for that.
Sorry about the blood in your mouth (i wish it was mine)
Her_black_tights
Words: 17,761 Sashisu/ Satosho 5/5
So I am biased on this one cuz this is one of my headcanons. That Suguru fucked around with both and that his absence is why Gojo and Shoko are a thing. And I feel like this fic perfectly encapsulates the hurt, the brokenness and the necessity of their relationship. Like this is how they cope and its messy and unhealthy and i love it
Listen I love you joy is coming
Antioedipus
Words:3,938 Satosho 5/5
This one is cute. Nah cute is the wrong word, they are goblins but it’s nice. They are both fucked up which is funny. Also 100% can see that Shoko doesn't have the emotional capacity to console a crying woman but still would do the right thing even if she doesn't think it’s the right thing.
Work and not run (skip and not fall)
Aminstrel
Words:2,300 Satosho 5/5
Love this! Cute! Exactly how i Imagine them. Also match cut? Peak comedy hahahaha goblin energy.
Catalyst
tiressian
Words:4,170 Satosho 5/5
AYOOOOO first tiressian ff. i remember reading this and having gotten new horizons opened xD Anyway: love it, super nice character interaction. Love it when Gojo is stumbling over his words, a tiressian special! Also love the aftermath, hilarious but sweet.
To my significant (b)other
Tiressian
Words: 6,621 Satosho 5/5
Another banger! Back to back? Spoiled honestly. I love this one just because it makes so much sense that she writes a list. Also Gojo high as balls is hilarious. Then the whole dialogue at the wedding with the chaste touches omg my skin is prickling. Love it.
Warmth
Satoluvs
Words:2,663 Satosho 5/5
I LOVE THIS. Omg adopted Yuji has my heart. Also consoling somebody by not talking it out but taking them in giving them affection to cure the sadness omg. Also also Satoru and Shoko just dating super casually i looooovee it.
Breathing underwater
Shrimphony
Words:1,848 Sashisu/ Satosho 5/5
This one hurts so much omg. And this could easily be canon. Idk why Gege does not show us Shoko’s grief more…. Like even if it's platonic how can she not find solace in Gojo still being there hmm? And then when Gojo, Nanami and Yaga get ripped from her, that must have destroyed her…
Shore
Tiressian
Words:7,161 Satosho 5/5
VERY TASTY thank you for the meal. I love their dynamic. Back with the tiressian special. Also Shoko making him do push ups, same girl same i get it. Love the banter, it makes so much sense.
Epoch
Tiressian
Words:6,341 Satosho 5/5
Yum, yes, very nice. Love cheerleader Gojo, he has my heart, that poor dude. No other comments it's perfect
Call it a hunch
Tiressian
Words: 5,560 Satosho 5/5
I think this is one of my favourites hahhaha. I love how panda is trying to convince everybody hahahahah. Also the snowball fight is glorious xD the little yuta/maki you slipped  in there, i see you hehehehe. And the end has me ROLLING HAHAHAHAH
It's the thought that counts
Tiressian
Words: 2,182 Satosho 5/5
THE CUTEST ahhhh i love them i really really need to draw the three of them uff.
there's lots of 4/5 ones too that I'd recommend but i need to cap the list somewhere xD (the google doc has 12 pages wtf ahahahah) This is up for changes anyway :P but enjoy my recommendations xD

Shibuya to Shinjuku: Gege's Use of Disparity
My analysis will be centered around Gege's use of disparity between his characters to drive a high-stakes narrative.
TLDR: Both Shibuya and Shinjuku involve hopeless battles that the cast majorly struggle through. Victory will only come after an uphill battle that favors the remaining villain. I implore you to read the first section, as that's the heft of the comparisons between the Shibuya Incident and Shinjuku Showdown. The other sections offer context for the "Sukuna Cycle" and the despair it causes for both the heroes and the readers.
In Shibuya, characters were heavily underpowered and majorly unable to fight the disaster curses. Stakes were at an all time high, especially after Gojo's imprisonment, and still, the heroes mostly failed to defeat their respective enemies. Mei Mei failed to defeat Kenjaku off screen; Nobara struggled against Haruta; Yuji lost to Choso; and Dagon bodied Maki, Nanami, and Naobito.
For the most part, the jjh forces lost the majority of their match ups. Yuji's final showdown alongside Todo was an uphill battle that mostly favored Mahito. Similarly, Sukuna has dominated in Shinjuku and has gotten more advantages than the cast. As put by Technical_Oil_8868:
Mahito hit a black flash, pulled a 0.2 domain expansion and a transformation while Yuji got nothing and moreover I think the black flash on maki is more or useless because Gojo needed 4 bfs to gain RCT output to recover his arm
Sukuna received Mahoraga and Agito via Ten Shadows; he transformed into a body that gives him inherent advantages via an extra mouth and limbs; Sukuna developed a new overpowered cursed technique that's defeated three cast members; Uraume returned one of his ancient cursed objects; he survived Yuta's maximum output Jacob's Latter; and Sukuna hit a black flash. Sukuna Kaisen has set a disparity that resembles Mahito's seemingly endless power as he continued evolving until his final moments.
Before the last enemy's defeat in Shibuya, multiple casualties occurred: Naobito whooped Dagon before the disaster curse evolved, then Maki nearly died, and Mahito later finished Nanami; Nobara gained an advantage against Mahito, then died immediately after; Todo came to help Yuji, and then lost boogie woogie.
Gege has made overt parallels to Shibuya already. It began with Gojo's defeat after an isolated battle against multiple opponents, then characters began to fall one by one. Higuruma's death was a direct reference to Nanami's.
Tumblr media
When all hope was lost, Gege brought back two of the verse's heaviest hitters to save the cast. The strongest without cursed energy, and the strongest sorcerer (did this suddenly become a Gojo return post? Place your bets I guess?)
Tumblr media
Toji saving Maki's group has parallels to Shinjuku already:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've spoken extensively about my theory that Maki will return to face Sukuna yet again. She's the last of the heavy hitters and suffered the least damage between her and Yuta. She obviously parallels Toji within the story, and this link between them further supports my connection between Shibuya and Shinjuku.
Tumblr media
When Gege needed a character to take out Jogo, who would have surely swept the cast at the time, Sukuna was brought back.
Tumblr media
Yuji foils Sukuna the most within the story. In essence, they're twin spirits, having lived in the same body and sharing an appearance; Sukuna's Heian era form still has Yuji's pink hair for example. Sukuna himself admits that Yuji's the only person who he knows can match his own unbreakable will. Their parallels support my argument that Yuji satisfies Sukuna's role within Shibuya; he will act as the second force that saves the remaining cast from the enemy who can and will kill everyone left.
I argue that Maki and Yuji will return to face Sukuna in the end, just as all hope seems to be lost. Kusakabe and Miguel will likely act as plot devices to buy time for Maki and Yuji to make a grand entrance of sorts. Likely, the soul striking duo will struggle through the battle, as they'll no doubt face Sukuna's full cursed technique, and it will be an extremely stressful fight for them and the readers.
The Chips in Sukuna's Armor
Although he still has yet to use his full CT, Sukuna has taken serious damage that has left him with an obvious weak spot now. He may have played around with Kusakabe and allowed himself to get hit for fun, but stopped Kusakabe immediately once his heart was targeted. Now, even Sukuna has limits to how much damage he can suffer.
Sukuna suddenly stopped healing against Maki, and notice how his major wounds remain despite the black flash boosting his output.
Tumblr media
Yuta took out his arm, extra mouth, and left a scar along his face that can be seen in the panels above. Maki's attack still has not healed, and will likely stay for the remainder of the battle due to how long soul wounds take to heal; this wound also slows down Sukuna's ability to heal his brain, which inhibits his domain expansion as well.
Sukuna still has a missing arm and has a weak heart. He played with Kusakabe, but as soon as he aimed for his heart, he stopped him. All variations of cleave and dismantle have been overcome twice now. Sukuna's armor is chipping and Gege's introducing characters who can force Sukuna into straining situations by avoiding his usual CT via Maki, Kusakabe, and now Miguel (check notes). I have already argued how Sukuna uses cleave and dismantle to test his opponents' strength. He did the same to Kusakabe in 254 by saving World Dismantle as the overwhelming ace (just as he did with Higuruma who neutralized cleave and dismantle as well). Sukuna's black flash kept him from having to revert to fuga since slash attacks were not working. Maki and Kusakabe both exposed Sukuna's current weaknesses.
Same as the readers', Sukuna's patience is wearing thin. He allowed Ui Ui to save the cast for a while, but suddenly set a trap for him by leaving Kusakabe out in the open while he hid. The conflict's stakes continue to rise, slowly but surely. As Sukuna defeats more of the main cast, the less combative forces become more endangered of being wiped out. Even Sukuna's tired of this same song and dance.
Kusakabe has exposed the fact that Maki's attack created an incredibly vulnerable wound that can be exploited. I argue that Maki and Yuji will use this gathered information in their final battle. Maki can dodge all forms of cleave and dismantle, which will force Sukuna to use his full cursed technique.
The Kind One
Here, I will focus mainly on Kusakabe's role within the narrative, and how he satisfies a similar role as Gojo and Nanami in Shibuya.
Kusakabe and Nanami came to similar conclusions in their final moments. They both share narrative similarities in reference to their power, and Nanami even appeared in 254. Kusakabe can't do a whole lot, but he's willing to stop running and put his life on the line like the younger generation has.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thematically, Kusakabe specifically represents the meeting point between the young and older generation. The flashbacks reflect how he's been the main one coaching the kids through the fight until now, cause his superiors are dead (or just chilling in Mei's Mei's case). Kusakabe has been left in charge of everyone else's students, and he's taken that role especially seriously in his last moments. His monologue suggests he felt guilty for failing to save not only his friends, but their students as well. Therefore, he's deemed the Kind One. In his last moments, he's not thinking of himself, but everyone he's lost or possibly let down.
Similar to how Nanami thought of Haibara in his final moments, Kusakabe refused to let down Yaga. Both thought about what Haibara and Yaga would think of them, and this informed Nanami and Kusakabe's motivations as they died.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kusakabe's fate also resembles Yuji after he switched with Sukuna in Shibuya, but he's not giving up like Yuji did. Kusakabe instead gives himself the Todo speech. He already knows that as the seemingly remaining fighter, he must put everything on the line. He didn't need a Todo to come and tell him, because he himself has been the coach.
The motif that Nanami, Gojo, Higuruma, and Kusakabe occupy exists in other shonen titles as well. In Naruto, the five Kage and Might Guy had a similar motivation for putting their lives on the line against Madara; the youth are the first in line on the battlefield, and as adults, they must step up and protect them if they can.
The Shibuya Incident featured largely disproportionate power gaps between the heroes and the villains, similar to Shinjuku Showdown. Gege prefers a narrative where the heroes face a seemingly endless uphill battle against opponents who gain more powerups than them. Sukuna's advantages will ramp while Maki and Yuji face him in the final showdown. Yet, in the end, their teamwork will prevail, just as Yuji and Todo's did against Mahito.
Notes:
Both Toji and Sukuna were returned more or less after being absent. Maki and Yuji will also return after a more brief absence.
I acknowledge that Sukuna didn't mean to "save" the rest of the cast, except Megumi, but in the end, that's what happened.
The last two pages of 254 suggest that Miguel's faster than a point blank cleave/dismantle, which is wild. The scars on the ground suggest that Sukuna definitely cast his attack, but Miguel avoided it without a scratch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I absolutely love when the older generation in shonen titles admit that the youth are often unfairly sacrificed in war. It never fails to move me when the adults say it's time to put their lives on the line for the youth in an effort to finally give back. Ohnoki's speech and Guy's final words before the eight gates activation have to be two of my favorite moments in Naruto. It's a great motif.

@mc211192 please do yourself a favor and rewatch season 1 and try to get some opinions of JJK that are not only from powerscalers and dick measuring contests.
Of course, Gojo is a teacher. That's his literal job, he is canonically a teacher and he takes that job seriously. He wants to shape the JJsociety by nourishing the next generation and prevent a defection like Geto's. His friend went down a dark path and he wants to prevent things like that from happening again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe you think that Gojo being a teacher and being the Strongest are exclusive to each other? They aren't. Often enough he said that he wants his students to become stronger so they can stand by his side, so they can share the title (the burden) of being the Strongest.
And when I say that Gojo regressed, I don't mean that negatively; it's a fact as we see him as a teenager. That he's like that because he was the happiest in his life in that time I find hard to believe. Not that he wasn't happiest in his youth but that he looks like that because of it.
As a teenager, Gojo was the happiest but he was also the blindest. He did not see the moral decay of his friend right in front of him and he regretted that. Becoming the caring adult that he is, was a natural progression from that point on and his path to becoming a teacher started when he went to Megumi.
Gojo isn't someone who wanted to become a teenager again. He didn't live his life wanting to go back, he wanted to form the future in the present with his students. The reason why he's a teenager at the airport is because his priorities and thoughts suddenly changed in the middle of the battle.
Tumblr media
In this moment after Mahoraga adapted to infinity, Yorozu's talk about strength and loneliness gets applied to Gojo for the first time. That's when Gojo-sensei takes a back seat and the Strongest Gojo gets pushed to the forefront. Toji gets a giant panel to himself to symbolize Gojo thinking back to their fight where he had lost for the first and final time.
Before that, Gojo was hellbend on saving Megumi and he was distraught at his own attack injuring him.
Tumblr media
The shift in his mental state is subtle but it carries over to limbo and affects everyone around him. Nanami and Geto had no reason to be young too. And while I believe that their get-together is real, the form it took is heavily influenced by Gojo's fantasies.
That influence will wear down and adult Gojo will take teenage Gojo's place. Just like how Geto will prepare himself to go down to hell. At this point in time, I also don't think that Gege will give Gojo a happy ending. That mangaka likes to make his characters suffer.
There is dissonance in the airport scene and I'm not the only who picked up on that. Dozens of revival theories have sprung up since then because there is substance that underpins those theories, just like last chapter that emphasized the head being important for RCT.
BTW: Gojo went directly to Kenjaku because his students are his priority. Kenjaku was the threat that sealed him and he needed to be eliminated for the protection of everyone else.
And Gojo enjoyed the fight against Sukuna. He can very well think about how exciting it was while still caring about Megumi's rescue. I put a panel up where he's explicitly trying to save him. I'm not going to explain the entire manga and every chapter and panel to you without getting paid so at least re-read this stuff before trying to debate someone over it.

SPOILER AHEAD AND A RANT
Y'all cannot phantom how absolutely gut wrenching the transitions between Nanami's fight and basically his last dance was to me.
All he wanted was a house in Malaysia and his book collection to read, was that so hard to give him??!!! Then the "I have done enough, haven't I?" line. How am I to recover. You did enough Nanami, you did more than enough. He was so at peace in his dream and he didn't even open his eyes to view it.
Tumblr media
How could anybody ever really forget his last words to Itadori. The fact that he could've gone to seek medical aid but he decided to check on everybody else and keep heading towards the danger to protect everyone will never sit right with me. That's so like him and I'm proud but I'm so sad.
He was such a good sensei and the best example of what a jujutsu sorcerer should be. He should've gotten his happy ending dammit. Gege if you wanted to take a sensei MeiMei was right there. Mahito count your days, I hate you.
Another note the JJK Team really did that. I'm still in awe. Knowing everything they have to go through concerning the episodes and they still made it so beautiful, I'm so grateful.
GEGE I CHALLENGE YOU TO A DUEL!! IF I WIN YOU GOTTA BRING HIM AND EVERYBODY YOU TOOK BACK😭
I wish I could go back to the person I was before I read that part in the manga and watched the episode. I knew it was coming but I'm still so sad.
Nanami Kento your legend will live on forever.

your perception of itafushi. my beloved. my favorite little barbie dolls that gege loves to wind up. i miss them.
like the idea of yuuji being so jealous over megumi? the sunshine himbo…losing it at the sight of megumi smiling at this perfect little asshole who is totally hiding under an anxious mess facade. there’s no way someone could have it all and their this good guy. yuuji is waiting for the day yuuta messes up i just know it.
even with yuuji finally understands their dynamic i just know that those two have subtle competitions over megumi attention. like…it gets to the point where throwing cars at each other is the norm. (cue nanami being horrified at his legal and emotional children throwing cars at each other over a child of gojo. like yes he adores megumi. but somehow this is all gojo fault. don’t ask nanami how.)
BUT THE IDEA OF THE ZENINS BEING SO YUUJIPHOBIC? like the idea of them shuddering at the idea of megumi fucking around with the vessel of sukuna? that they had to set a bounty on him just to keep him away from their precious runaway heir? i just know mai pops out to the school just to bitch about megumi and his boyfriend being like modern day romeo and juliet.
i also love to imagine sukuna being a firm zenin hater. like he’s not even willing to eat them. he firmly believes that all of them taste like shit. especially naoya.
See I just love the idea of Yuuji being jealous over Megumi but exclusively when it comes to Okkotsu Yuuta. He’s legitimately not a jealous person. He’s never been jealous of anyone before in his life. He’s deeply secure in what he has with Megumi and knows that Megumi likes him back and that there’s no need to be worried or upset about Megumi having close relationships with other people. He wants Megumi to have close relationships outside of him.
But the universe fucking bends to give that perfect beautiful bastard everything Yuuji has ever dreamed of.
It’s a new experience for yuuji. He’s not used to experiencing jealousy. He’s literally never done it before. But there’s this impossibly gorgeous and perfect man swanning around out there getting his death sentence overturned and having his curse royalty unattach from his body in sparkling globes of light and having Nanamin legally adopt him as his actual child and having Megumi be His Boy and apparently it’s universally acknowledged* that Megumi is still Yuuta’s Boy despite Yuuji going to Herculean efforts to lock that shit down. He has assassins trying to kill him because it’s universally agreed** that his boyfriend is out of his league, apparently, and his boyfriend is still someone else’s Boy.
It does not help that when the Assassin Problem first appears yuuji wants to go to Gojo and Megumi decides he cannot take that level of humiliation and suggests going to Yuuta first. Which makes Yuuji insist that no no, he can handle a few assassins. No need to bother any impossibly beautiful upperclassman about it who are apparently better than Yuuji in every way. He’s got this on his own. Nooo problem.
Megumi stares at him for three unbroken seconds and goes to ask Yuuta for advice about it, which results in the second years going off to unilaterally threaten the Zenin clan, which none of the first years ever find out about.
Sukuna absolutely does hate the Zenin clan and it’s specifically because they did not consider him when putting a bounty on yuujis head. He’s a firm believer in knowing your worth and he knows his fucking worth. Sorcerers used to have style. They used to have respect. What the fuck is this. The Zenin are not worth dog shit on his heel. He’ll kill them all.
*universally acknowledged by everyone except Megumi, who still does not know that people call him that
** universally agreed by everyone except Todo, who thinks his brother is a beautiful beautiful man that anyone would be lucky to court and that Fushiguro is a boring child with a nonexistent ass who has inexplicably bewitched a gorgeous specimen of manhood.
#sea glass gardens#Nanami is so confused and tired#he doesn’t know how Yuuta inspired so much animosity in yuuji before they ever met#for the record Yuuta doesn’t know either#he’s constantly going through it how could anyone be jealous of his life#cannot emphasize enough Yuuta loves Megumi but does not want to kiss him#he’s not looking to take megumi from yuuji#he can be Their Boy just in different ways#the Zenin are specifically yuujiphobic#look clan heads have had plenty of dalliances on the side over the years#if megumi has certain needs to be fulfilled he can find someone in the clan as long as he marries a woman within the Zenin and produces#heirs and also as long as that person is not itadori yuuji#the ten shadows CANNOT be with the fucking vessel of sukuna#pick anyone else than the idiot pink haired possessed freak pick ANYONE ELSE#megumi is. so tired.#this is his first boyfriend okay and most of their relationship consists of going to terrible movies and blushing fire engine red while#holding hands. they are very much NOT thinking about marriage or kids or whatever and megumi cannot emphasize enough that he does NOT want#to marry and have kids with his cousin or aunt or whatever. he does not want to do that. megumi in my mind treads the line between asexual#and pansexual where he just doesn’t like people as a rule except when he does. yuuji sort of is the first person he’s really genuinely into#this is new and exciting for him and he would not admit that on pain of death but he sort of just wants to have his first boyfriend without#his fucking abusive bio family freaking the fuck out about how he needs to have incest children with his blood family like god this is the#nightmare scenario. meanwhile I think Megumi’s the first boy yuujis ever really liked. like he’s had guy celebrities he’s thought were#attractive before but megumi was his first crush on a boy and his first real relationship and he’s sort of not got a lot of time left in#life and would LOVE it if he could spend that time holding his boyfriends hand. what do you mean he has insane bio family who wants him to#marry his mean lesbian aunt. that’s fucking insane.

Thoughts on Gege’s writing
Disclaimer: if you have not read the manga please DO NOT read this if you don’t want spoilers. If you don’t care then you can read it if you like. Just in case I am putting SPOILERS, before I start.
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
As the manga continues to go on I have been going back and re-reading jjk and there are certain plot points that I have noticed in the beginning that have me questioning where Gege is going with this manga.
I want to preface this by saying that this is in NO WAY insulting Gege nor their writing AT ALL. They know what they want and how this story is going to end, we are just not privy to it.
With that being said, the more I think about the story, the more the story seems half-done to me? Like the way Gege sprinkles things in the story but then as the story progresses those plot moments mean nothing bothers me.
One of the big ones is the overarching theme of creating a jujutsu world where jujutsu sorceres are equal to Gojo. Gojo’s reasoning for becoming a teacher and recruiting students is because he wanted to create a new age of Jujutsu Sorcerers that could keep up with him and be his equals. A new era where jujutsu sorcerers don’t have to go through the same trauma and bullshit that he, Geto, Nanami and co. had to go through. It’s why after Geto, he recruited Megumi. It’s why he took Yuuta under his wing. It’s why he became a teacher.
But at the end of the day, all of his efforts were pointless. I know that sounds harsh but looking at the story now, to me, his whole recruiting of students with potential amounted to nothing and that really there was never going to be a new age of jujutsu sorcerers at his level. And it is partly because of Gojo himself.
Tbh I don’t even know why Gege had Yuuji as the main protagonist nor Megumi either because it is clearly the Gojo show. Neither Yuuji nor Megumi come even CLOSE to Gojo’s power and tbh I think Gojo was just trying to be nice or being delulu when he said Megumi or Yuuji could one day surpass him. Because the way Gege is handling the story and characters clearly indicate that that is NOT the case. Yuuta maybe but Yuuji and Megumi? NO. And I am not going to get into Nobara because that is a whole other topic.
But the other reason is because Gege never shows their potential to surpass Gojo. We see them level up sure but it is never a level up where the audience is like “oh yeah that can definitely defeat Gojo one day!”
And when you see people like Yuji or Megumi fight and they are struggling, you can’t help but think “We need Gojo. Gojo wouldn’t break a sweat with these villains.” So even if Megumi or Yuji accomplish their goal, it doesn’t really make a dent in the goal of surpassing Gojo because Gojo is leagues ahead and it is OBVIOUS. If I were to give a comparison, it is like when Tanjiro in Demon Slayer struggled so much to defeat Rui and got a level up and sliced his head, only for it to not work and Tomioka literally swooped in and chopped Rui’s head off without breaking a SWEAT. Like yay Tanjiro got a level up but he is still WAY behind in comparison to a Hashira. But what sets Demon Slayer’s theme of Tanjiro getting stronger is that the author drives the point across that the Hashira are not invincible. They are strong as hell but the next arc Rengoku dies. The arc after that Uzui gets maimed and retires.
We never see that with Gojo. Gojo is so strong that the villains’ only option was to seal him because they acknowledged that they could NOT defeat him.
This is getting too long but I have more thoughts about this. I will probably make a part 2 if anyone is interested. But yeah these were just my thoughts about the whole story.
Again! I am NOT trying to bash Gege nor their writing AT ALL. Every mangaka is different and just because they don’t follow a certain pattern doesn’t make their writing trash! I still really like jjk I am just putting my thoughts out there on certain things.

Note
Gojo has his head. In season 2 he tells toji he failed to kill him because he didn't cut off his head. Sukuna didn't cut off his head. He can still heal his body.
Plus we see Nanami tell gojo that there are two paths. One to change you or one to stay who you are. Gojo says goodbye to his dead friends and we see him walk away showing he's taking the second path. We also see a lotus then.
Which symbols strength and renewal.
Gojo is not dying. He may be gone a few chapters but everything his hunting he will heal his body and be back.
Gojo will live.
Gege has been pretty quiet with Satoru's death so who knows. I'm probably in my acceptance stage with only a small part hoping he's alive but unlike season 2, Satoru's been severed in half and unless he finds a way to counter Sukuna's slashes it pretty much doesn't make sense how he'll come back and fight him with the Infinity basically worthless against Sukuna. And... Satoru mentioned how he gave it his all during their fight, his techniques, his body, and his experience but Sukuna didn't even give it his all.
I still hold faith in his "I will win." to Yuji... and at the same time, I'm not committed to Gege so yeah, if Satoru comes back I'd throw a party but if Satoru is really on the other side, I'm fine with it too.
Really... it's too soon for him to go down... even Megs, I don't think we've seen Megumi and Satoru in their full potential to go down so soon like this or maybe I was expecting too much...
As for the lotus, if ever Satoru does comeback I think it symbolizes his 'awakening' or 'enlightenment', the same as what happened with Toji. But let's face it bby has been cheating death quite some time and if he comes back again Yuji's character development might just be stunned again.

JJK MANGA SPOILERS CHAPTER 236 BELOW CUT 😭
This is all my own opinion by the way, screenshots are my own, and please feel more then welcomed to give your view as well :).
Tumblr media
Well for starters, I truly believe that Gojou is dead, everyone is there in his “dream” at the airport. But some take seats, I wonder what gojou told whomp to tell megumi about his dad? That if he were to die and what to tell him? Gojo admitting that SUKUNA IS strong and that he was holding back on him, which I do believe, and even admitting without the ten shadows he still wouldn’t have won. But Getou, saying “does it matter?” After satoru asked if it was a dream, maybe this is something similar that happened with him when Toji killed him but we never saw anything. Maybe, he is having one last moment before he comes back? Idk… it’s something though. He clearly is having regrets though. Regrets of losing his best friend, regrets with megumi, regrets with Nanami, Yaga is there, even others. All his regrets are in this airport.
———-
Tumblr media
I believe, that we can all agree with gojo. That, no matter what or who you speak to about things, you still can’t make others understand what you are going through in life or in general. It’s just like with Toji, satoru and sukuna, those three would really be the only ones to somewhat understand the isolation they went through.
3. NOW NANAMI SAID IT, we all know what happened with Getou, I would also include noya or whatever you spell it but that was due to him not dying from cursed energy. A curse can possess a body, though you gotta have something I bet, idk I just found it interesting they included that…why even say it 👀👀👀… I’m reaching I know but idc. Plus ya know … SUKUNA brought Yujii back 👀
Tumblr media
4. Though, they said it twice already, everyone in that airport lounge has regrets, Yaga with his students and maybe with how his technique works with using people souls and making them into cute toys. Saturo for obvious reasons, same with Getou. Nanami, with his bestie Yu, and probs with shibuya, riko and the maid (I can’t remember her name 😭, I’ll edit it once I find it again). But … a room full of people with regrets, but I want to know if there are others that have regrets that are dead aka Nobara. And they are all their younger selfs, is that when Satoru had the most regrets when he was young? I wonder if it plays a factor in it all, when it all started and how it started, it most certainly does it when everything went down hill.

5. MY MANS AHHHHHHHH, I … really don’t think gojou will come back.. he clearly is now at rest .. sort of, he is in a room full people he loves and missed. He doesn’t want it to be a dream but.. at the same time, I think something will happen in the following chapters where he comes back. Or something tries to take over his body, his essence someone tries to use it (look what happened to Toji with the beginning of the arc) I just don’t see this .. beginning the end. But I also DO see it beginning the end for Satoru Gojou.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
6. Now, if I’m understanding this right, basically Mahgora adapated to his technique, but was trying to adapt to his infinity to get through it? If, they were able to break through that, then … game over for our man. But he was going PAST that, he had to get past everything else to get through to it, … so really the whole time they weren’t trying to adapt to his techniques but the infinity instead?? so when he had an opening when he was letting his guard down.. he took? Idk, I’m still trying to figure it out AND I’m just… in denial but want to be DULULU. Idk, if anyone can dumb it down that would be GREAT. Also, I wonder if this is how the battle between the zenin clan and gojou clan ended 👀
7. My last thing…..
I wanna beat Gege ass like .. he can’t STOP ALL OF IS. WHY TAKE OUR MAN AWY. I KNEW THERE WAS A REASOM JE CAME OUT TO BEAUTIFUL. LOWKEY though it looks like
He smiling.. home boy at rest.

JJK season 2 episode 21 thoughts! ✨
Tumblr media
Went into this episode expecting the iconic “I am you” scene to be animated, left with two incredible works of art now ingrained into my memories (todo and takada-chan beating up mahito)
All this about Todo wanting to imitate All Might from MHA last episode, but I’m thrilled that the animators confirmed that Todo is actually living the magical idol anime dream that Gege Akutami initially was going to write before starting JJK. AND managed to make the volume cover I never really liked into a beautiful and hilarious moment 💗✨
Music / ost worked the entire episode and went silent when it was needed. Some of the previous eps had parts with their pacing or music that lessened the emotions of the scenes (e.g. right after Nanami died), but everything here flowed well!
As much as I like talking about JJK, sometimes, at my core, I just like watching a good and entertaining fight scene, and that was a majority of this episode until the end. It battle shonen’d in the best way a battle shonen can be. It’s a satisfying feeling to have snail mahito, a birthday, a magical girl segment, and a metaphorical rabbit wolf clashing of truths all in one fight.

The voice acting still amazing with every episode—Mahito and Yuuji being the highlights. I’ve said this a few times, but Mahito’s VA captures the (literal) childish personality and mindset of his character. Last episode, it was how he threw around and yelled at Yuuji like a kid throwing around a doll. This ep was along the same lines, with him immediately crying and throwing dirt at Yuuji. It’s not the exact same, since he is a curse, but it shows how he just came into being and was constantly learning and curious about the world. And the second Yuuji actually badly hurts him, stops him from running away, and repeats similar beliefs back to him, he breaks down. They really are the “same.”
Now Yuuji!!! His new conviction, if it can be called that, about being a cog made to kill curses until he’s worn out. Not exactly the healthiest mindset, but it’s an unsurprising progression after losing control of his own body/autonomy, losing his mentor and best friend (both figures of reassurance and hope), having his entire foundation for living and abiding by his grandpa’s dying wishes be challenged—all while needing to keep moving forward, to not fall into complete despair.
The voice acting in his speech back to Mahito sounded lifeless, but authentic to what he now believes. I appreciated how little the VA gave emphasis to any words and spoke it all in one similar tone. Some of the way it was spoken also sounded like it was affected somewhat by his mouth wound, which was a nice touch.
Manga spoilers for the points below‼️
Continuing: Yuuji’s new mindset is faulty and I love how much the episode shows the flaws of how Mahito and him thought, and how they’re both still incredibly young with their views constantly challenged by their new experiences. We get what’s supposed to be a cathartic scene of Yuuji killing Mahito and stalking him like a predator towards a prey animal, only to have the final killing blow be taken by Kenjaku, another predator (when your mom steals your deserved murder 🙄).
I’ve always appreciated how this moment was not presented as this great turn of beliefs that leads to success, and instead immediately gives him this unfulfilling and destructive outcome. Like, I’ll take Yuuji beating Mahito as a momentary win, but it’s not going to work out in the long run for himself or anyone. Which makes me interested in where his character is headed for the rest of the manga. There’s probably more to say with him regarding the story’s themes on strength/weakness, enlightenment, hunger, etc., but I love what we are given here.
His entire cog in a machine (of war) also reminds me of the series’ title emphasizing endless repetition of fights and everything looping (got the translation from the blog at kylescooter.com). JJK has constant examples and themes of past generation vs new generations, traditional vs unconventional, etc, but also repeating history and being stuck in the same ways. This post is already too long, but I wonder how Gege will conclude all this and if anything will change.
Said up there that there wasnt anything I disliked about the episode, but I do wish wolf Kenjaku was added! Not just because I adore the scene (for its imagery and hinting at them being related), but also because it would’ve been cool to transition out of that scene by having wolf Kenjaku show up.
Next ep will have Choso, the Kyoto school, Kenjaku, Uraume, and Yuki!! Also that Mei Mei scene which I am absolutely dreading.
Also the next ep preview with Kenjaku was fun
