Why hello

I’m Goner and this is my little space where is post about my FFXIV characters and my time playing the game.

The main two character who you will see here are Yoyo and Voss, a bubbly dressed in pink black mage and a roguish voidsent hell bent on bringing his world back. I also have a small band of extra character who live their (un)lives and sometimes meet up with the main duo. Among these extra’s there is Declan, a miqo’te vampire hunting his cruel Sire. Finlay, Declan’s hyur companion and novice scholar. Louise, A young Tremere vampire looking for one very special book.

Now, On To The Lore!

YOYO -Yoyo was 15 when she moved from her hometown to Gridania, she grew up in an orphanage, was never adopted and then just moved away. She left nothing behind, everything she had fit in her backpack - Around the time she is 10 years she accidentally summons a voidsent, only by essences and thus invisible to her and the world but strongly tied to her. She later learn to communicate with the voidsent, who tells her his name is Voss and he can help her become a powerful mage. - Yoyo studied with the conjurers before being send to Ul’Dah to join the black mages. she was able to learn basic magicks in Gridania, but her teacher realised she wasn't drawing on nature, so they send her to study with the Buki clan instead. -This Is Where ARR Starts- -More Lore Will Be Added Later-

VOSS - Voss was a hero on the 13th shard before his world was sundered. In his life before he was a rogue easily persuaded to do whatever job by the right amount of money. - As a voidsent his is considered one of the oldest and most powerful among the higher ranks. Despite this he makes his domain in a deserted ruined castle, far away from his peers. - One day he wakes for a slumber to a voice calling to him, he reaches out and so finds himself summoned to Eorzea by Yoyo. He quickly realized he is invisible to the world around him, but he can still pull at the aether and feed himself. He also realized Yoyo can hear him and he promises her that he will help her become a powerful mage. -This Is Where ARR Starts- -More Lore Will Be Added Later-

My body never Left the soft pink curtain window, Watching intensely for the men to Arrive, my eyes Lit up upon seeing them cross through at the clearing of thick trees in the distance, I feailt my heart skep a beat, the Boys at the station never mentioned Who these men were, but I knew Even from the distance that they were at that they were none other than steve rogers and bucky barnes, men Lost in an era they werent Meant for, men Straight from the '40s, Perfectly and practically in need of a sweet little housewife, It practically had to pinch myself to ensure it wasn't a dream or a free hallucination brought on by Cabin Fever, but it wasnt, the men were geting cloer by the moment, the sun was In its early stages of setting painting the sky in a very light orange, Soon the men crossed the threshold and I heard A loud and assertive knock.

I giggled as i Raced to the bottom of the stairs to let them in,I practically swung open the door, Once realizing what I've done I could feel my cheeks go bright red cuz I looked up at them.

“Oh um, are you Miss Patricia, Your alot younger then what we Expected, is it all right if we come in, we were told you have room for us!” I'm Steve Rogers spoke in a honey sweet voice.

“Its no trouble at all, i get it alot, there arnt alot of 22 year olds with my name!” I Awkwardly exclaimed, I feailt so nervous, these men could take me out with a Single pinky finger, there was no way that keeping them here was going to be easy.

I watched as they carefully took there shoes off and Proceeded up the stairs, I fallowed behind them, feeling very small Compared to them.

“You can put your bags in the large dark bule room, I hope you tow dont mind sharing the bed.” I said softy.

Buky whent in first and steve smiled softly at me. “Thank you miss, and we dont mind, also I apologize he's not much of a talker, hes been Through a lot.” Steve spoke, I nodded my head,I understood what he meant,it was all over the news, Steve rogers and Bucky barnes Fugitives of the law, Steve even had to Resign as Captain America.

“Would you like anything to eat?” I asked softy, he smiledbut shock his head no.

“It's ok miss, Bucky and I have already eaten.” he smiled,I smiled back. “Well if you need anything, my room next door.” I smiled, and he gave me a thumbs up, I soon turned on my heels and went to my room for the night.

How many books did you read this year?

If we're counting manga (and I am because if it was good enough for my library's summer reading program, it's good enough for everyone else), I would guesstimate about...hmm...

113, perhaps?

Manga was my gateway back into reading after many, many years of Pointless Reading Anxiety Over Nothing. It's quick, it's good, and easy, so that made everything else easier to get into, too!

But including only the wordy-word books, that's about, uhh...

34? Many of them re-reads as I revisited old favorites.

17. Top five books of the year

Alrighty, here we go (in no particular order because I am bad at ranking):

-An Ordinary Wonder by Buki Papillon. Seriously, this one hooked me right from the beginning. It follows an intersex main character living in Nigeria. There are some harrowing scenes so read safely, but it was. Just so good. Pretty sure I cried.

-I had That Same Dream Again by Yoru Sumino. This one was so stinkin' cute and whimsical. I had a fantastic time, and it really reminded me of what it's like to be a kid again.

-The Killing Woods by Lucy Christopher. YA mystery about the sudden death of a girl, and all the people tangled up in it. This one was a re-read, and I'd only read it once before, but it really nails the type of writing style I lean towards.

-It Had to Be You by Georgia Clark. I historically haven't read a lot of romance, but this is the book that convinced me I should read more. Especially the fluffy kind. Bonus: an entire will-they-gay, won't-they-gay tension permeates the entire thing, with a payoff that I won't spoil. But I had a great time.

-Providence by Max Berry. If you like existential space horror and would enjoy a prominent character that you can easily headcanon as autistic, I'd check this one out.

Bonus shout-out to Haikyu! as the manga series that has devoured my soul this year. I fuckin' love my volleyball boys.

34. What’s a book you’ve recommended the most this year?

I haven't done much recommending, but I absolutely would suggest The Magic Fish by Trung Le Nguyen if you are even slightly interested in graphic novels. I did me a nice cry over that one.

18. Least favourite books of the year

Well, nothing I outright disliked, so that's good! In terms of manga, I tried Dr. Stone for the first time, and it just was a series I couldn't get into. The Last Slave Ship by Ben Raines was very interesting, but was probably the hardest to get through.

General Opinion over said character: she's fine! i really really wish they'd given her more emotional moments during the game (whyyy didn't she get at least some sort of breakdown post ch4) because i feel like, outside of her final fte and mayybe some stuff in during the final trial, she stayed pretty stagnant throughout the game? just. i would've liked to see the princess persona drop a little bit more. she's still neat tho :)

Publisher Modus Games and developers Dreams Uncorporated and SYCK have released a new trailer introducing the characters of Cris Tales.

Main Characters

Kira Buckland in the role of Crisbell – Crisbell is the main character of Cris Tales. She is a young orphan with a slim figure that is unaware of her latent powers as a time mage, until Matias the frog helps her unlock her abilities. She is able to see into the past and future, and can interact with both of them to change the present.

Cody Rock in the role of Matias – Matias is a small, orange talking frog with a black top hat who meets Cris Bell at the beginning of the game. After stealing a rose from the garden Cris Bell is tending, he leads her to the Cathedral where she discovers Crystals of Time, granting her the power to control time. He will assist her party in various ways throughout the game.

Lindsey Vega in the role of Willhelm – Wilhelm is Crisbell’s magic teacher who you will meet early on in the game. He looks like a child, but has a pretty remarkable level of skill and experience. He tends to be a bit sarcastic. He is well known in the city of Neva Tulira and is friends with many members of the Oroitz family, the most powerful family there.

Zeno Robinson in the role of Cristopher – Christopher is a brave and heroic Mage Warrior that helps defend the Kingdom of Narim from Goblins. He fights with dual gauntlets that can be joined together to create a shield to defend against enemy attacks. His magical abilities allow him to conjure different elemental attacks such as fire and water that can be enhanced by Cris Bell’s time powers.

Lizzie Freeman in the role of Zas – Zas is upbeat, outgoing, and a bit of a wildcard. Cris Bell’s party will encounter her upon arriving in the Kingdom of Cinder, where she will aid the team with her explosive set of tools. She is instantly recognizable by her athletic build, dark apparel, and large green bag.

Daman Mills in the role of JKR-721 – JKR-721, also known as K, is a mechanical android built to fight. His armor grants him the ability to charge and attack rapidly with a series of electrical attacks, assisted by a jetpack hidden underneath his coat. He exhibits a genuine curiosity about the world, and will join Cris Bell on her adventure.

Warnings: angst about killing a family member accidentally, nightmares

Summary: For 20 years, you’ve been haunted by the same nightmare over and over again. No one knows what it’s about until Buky finds you at the cemetery.

“Michael, this ice is so thick! It’s not going to break!” you grinned as you shakily maneuvered on the slippery substance.

“Mom is going to worry. We should get back home,” your little brother said in nervousness.

“Would I seriously let anything happen to you?” you asked seriously.

“No.”

“Then come on. It’s fun to run around on!” you giggled as you picked up your speed. Michael trusted you since you were his only sister. Being five years older than him, he looked up to you for everything. He once said you were his role model which you loved. He was the best little brother a girl could ask for, and you’re always taking him on adventures whenever your parents came up to the cabin for vacation which was often. Right now, it’s the middle of winter so the lake is frozen over as snow continues to fall from the sky. The most Michael will go home with is a few bruises from slipping on the ice; nothing he can’t handle. Michael wobbly tried to keep up with you, but you were too far from where he was at.

“Y/N! Slow down! Wait for me!” he exclaimed. He had just turned seven, so he thinks he could handle anything and everything when really, he was a lot slower than he anticipated. Nonetheless, you waited for him as he slowly waddled across the ice.

“Y/N, I don’t feel good.”

“Are you getting sick?” you asked as you began the trek back to him.

“No, but this ice doesn’t feel safe!”

“Michael, nothing is going to happen to you,” you sighed. Before you could finish your sentence, the ice cracked from underneath your little brother’s feet before caving in. Your little brother screamed as he fell in the freezing cold water. The thing about this lake was that it had a current beneath the surface, something you figured out when you came here in the summertime.

“Michael!!” you screamed as you rushed to try and save your brother. If the ice cold water didn’t kill him, then the freezing cold weather would if you pulled him out of the water. As soon as you got to the hole, you couldn’t see your brother anywhere.

“Michael!!”

“Michael!!!”

“Michael!” you yelled as you gasped awake. Sweat covered your entire body, and you already knew there was an outline of your body on the sheet from the sweat. The fan was on in your room as well as the AC, but it felt like a million degrees in there. Tears spilled out from your eyes as you recalled the worst moment in your entire life. Michael had trusted you to take care of him, but he drowned in the water.

It was your fault he drowned.

He was dead because of you.

For eighteen years, you’ve had the same nightmare about your brother dying. His body was found when the ice thawed out, and it had been so cold that the water preserved his body, but that didn’t matter. You had killed your little brother, and your parents resented you for it. It didn't matter now because your entire family was dead. Your parents died in their sleep all alone in the cabin they refused to leave because it had too many good memories of Michael.

No one knew what your nightmares were about, and they didn’t ask. They only knew they happened because they could hear you scream your brother’s name almost every morning. It was something that was alarming at first, but now they just dismiss it completely. You never talked about them, and they never pushed. You just knew they were there for you if you ever want to talk to about them. The only person who you could even think you might want to tell is Bucky.

He was no stranger to nightmares, and he was a strong survivor of PTSD, something you’re too familiar with. The only reason why you haven’t told him about your nightmares is because he already has too much on his plate. He’s suffered so much, you didn’t want to add to his burden. However, he’s the only one you trusted to tell him about your nightmares. Sure, Natasha has her fair share of them as well as Tony, but you didn’t think they would understand. Not like Bucky would.

Getting out of bed, you trudged out of your room and to the kitchen, trying to be as quiet as you possibly could. The last thing you wanted was to wake someone up because you couldn’t seem to sleep peacefully. As you approached the kitchen, you could hear someone shuffling inside. Peeking in, you saw the person you were closest to besides Bucky. Clint was rummaging through the drawers as he searched for something. Not wanting to spook him, you noisily opened the door to let him know you were there. He swiftly turned around and gave you a sad smile.

“Hey, what are you doing up?” he asked even though he already knew.

“Nightmare,” you shrugged before going over to the fridge to get some water. “What are you looking for?”

“The tea packets. Steve had put them here when he bought them the other day.”

“Tony moved them to the cabinets. If he sees something that he doesn’t like, he will move them. They’re right above your head.”

“Thanks,” he said as he closed the drawer and opened the cabinet. “Want some tea?”

“Sure.”

“You know, Nat used to get nightmares all the time,” he said as he prepared two cups.

“I know. She told me about them.”

“She used to come to me when she couldn’t sleep. Just know you can always come to me if you need someone to talk to.”

“Thanks, Clint, but I don’t think I’m ready to tell anyone about my nightmares. They’re too real, too scary,” you sighed as you took the cup of tea.

“I figured as much which is why I made my special tea. Natasha used to drink it before going to bed, and she says her nightmares weren't so bad. If I can’t help one way, I’ll figure out another way to. Drink it all and try going back to sleep,” he smiled.

“Thank you. I will,” you smiled. Clint started to leave the room, but you stopped him by calling his name. “You’re a good friend.”

“Thanks,” he smiled before leaving completely. Sighing, you decided to try out this tea and took a large gulp. It wasn’t the best tea but it definitely wasn’t the worst. Deciding you could handle the taste, you sipped it slowly until there was no more left to drink.

“What are you doing up?” Bucky asked once he saw you in the main room by the window. The city is always busy, and you often liked to watch from the high ground. People lived their lives, went to different places, and did a lot of different things. If you weren't so sad all the time, you would join them.

“Can’t sleep,” you whispered. Bucky walked over to you before taking a seat next to you.

“Can’t sleep or you had another nightmare?”

“The latter,” you sighed.

“You know I’m here if you want to talk,” he said softly. Since you got here, he’s warmed up to you the most. Bucky’s offer made you want to tell him so badly, but he didn’t need that extra weight.

“Thank you. I’ll keep that in mind,” you whispered.

“My door is always open if you just want to lay with me. We don’t have to talk. I find that having a body next to you makes everything just a little bit better.”

“Yeah? Where did you hear that?” you asked with a small smile.

“From experience. Try to get some sleep. Remember my offer,” he said as he got up and left you alone for the rest of the night. Maybe you should take him up on his offer. He did say that you two didn’t have to talk at all which makes things a little bit easier.

Over the next few weeks, you and Bucky have gotten a lot closer. After his initial proposal, you had taken him up on his offer at least 14 times. It was nice knowing he was right there next to you even though you two didn’t do anything, not even talk. He didn't ask what your nightmares were about, in fact, he didn’t ask about anything. He knew just having him there was good enough.

Michael’s anniversary was today, and you have been a nervous wreck the entire time. No one knew what was bothering you, but by the tears on your face, they knew it was bad. You’ve been distant the whole day, but on his anniversary, you like to go to the cemetery that he was buried at to talk to him. It made you feel better that he could hear you from wherever he is. All he mostly heard was you crying and telling him you were sorry over and over again.

After sneaking out of the house, you quickly made your way over to the cemetery. Bypassing grieving people, you approached your little brother’s grave that had fresh flowers on it. Every week you drop off flowers and leave, but only on his anniversary do you stay and chat for a while. Gently setting down the flowers in your hand, you took a seat as you stared at the picture that was on the headstone.

“I know I say this every time, but I’m sorry. It’s my fault you died, and I’m reminded of that every night when I close my eyes. I didn't know the ice was unsafe. I didn't mean to kill you, Michael,” you cried. Your whole body was shaking, and you jumped five feet in the air when you felt a hand on your shoulder. Looking at the intruder, you cried even more when you saw it was Bucky. It didn’t matter that he heard your confession, you were just glad he was here.

Wordlessly, he took a seat next to you before bringing you into his arms. Pressing your face to his chest, you let out all the emotions you had been harboring for the past few weeks. Bucky didn’t seem to mind, and he ran his flesh hand through your hair gently.

“I killed him,” you hiccupped.

“Whatever happened was an accident. I know that much,” he whispered.

“I killed my little brother,” you cried.

“I’m sure wherever he is, he forgives you,” Bucky tried to make this better. He didn’t, but just his presence alone was helping tremendously.

NB Review

Ok, first confession, this is a Ghanian film which I only discovered after I started watching the film. What attracted me to the film was Kimberly Elise who is one of my favourite actors. ’Ties That Bind’ starts with Buki arriving at at a small village to start a practice as a doctor. She incidentally runs into Adobea (Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde) who happens to be an ex-school mate. My initial reaction to the opening sequence was 'oh no, its only going downhill from here’ but was impressed it did not descend into a waste of time. My only criticism of the story is that the male characters could have been given a bit more to do rather than just be there as spouses. The film deals with some heavy issues through out the film and I was quite impressed with the story (given my first impression). The two main characters had depth and were beautifully played Ama Abebrese and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, the one place I felt let down was with Kimberly Elise’s character, she had very little to do in the whole film other than mover the story along. Yes she had a bit of emotional torment but when you bring an actor of that calibre to screen with little or nothing to do, it feels more like a cameo role, which is not bad in itself, except that she was top billed on the poster. My guess is she was there for bums on the seat rather than for her part which is a shame. Omotola on the other hand was a revelation for me. I have not seen her much (if at all) on screen and I was wowed! Her acting was beautiful, well paced and not at all on the surface. (SPOILER ALERT) There is a scene when she is told to undress in front of her inlaws, she takes a glance at her husband and looks straight on into the lens of the camera, it was a cinematic moment, I will definitely be looking out for more of her work. This leads me to the directing. It was mostly good but I would stop shy of saying it great. The film had good rhythm, and had a subtly nice, though unexplained, touch to the end. In all I enjoyed it, nothing quite stood out (apart from Omotola’s acting) but nothing as quite bad either and would say its worth a watch. http://nollywoodboulevard.com/movie/ties-that-bind/
