DCxDP Fanfic idea: Rude Kryptonian
Danny Fenton is prepared for a lot of things when Vlad calls his parents and asks to take his godson for a summer. Things would have gone differently if Danny's hero business hadn't made him a "troubled" kid. He was failing a lot of his classes, sleeping or ditching most classes and not to mention all the random injuries.
They were worried he was becoming some kind of gang member. (It hurt a little they assumed the worst of him and not worried that something bad was happening).
His dad was convinced that Vlad could somehow set him on the correct path.
Now Vlad had moved on from trying to be his stepdad and forced Danny to be his son, but that didn't mean Danny liked him. Or that he could forget what he put him through.
So he was less than happy to pack his bags and be driven to the airport to board Vlad's private jet. His parents lectured him the whole time, warning him to not be a bother to his uncle Vlad, and to behave. Jazz just looked anxious, practically begging her parents to change their mind.
They did not listen, and Danny was thrown onto the jet after getting past security. He was not surprised the plane went off course due to "mysterious" wealther a hour into the trip.
It was like they purposely flew into a thunderstorm, complete with harsh winds and rain. His plane crashed landed in the middle of nowhere thirty minutes later.
He was less surprised he was the only human on board - Vlad had tricked him once before with a ghost pilot. Why not again?- But at least no one, but Danny was hurt.
Jeez, couldn't Vlad think of anything more original? Then again, the definition of insanity is doing something over and over again, expecting different results.
Danny sat in his chair, having escaped the crash with only a few scrapes thanks to his powers, fuming at his parents and Vlad. He was so distracted he did not notice the hurried rescue team that surrounded the broken metal.
He did however notice the man who ripped off the top part of the jet, floating in the air in the most ridiculous outfit he's ever seen.
"Are you alright, son?"
"Are you?"
"What do you mean?"
"Look at you. Look at what you're wearing." Danny gestures to the stranger. He ignores how the stranger's blue eyes start to glow. "You can't honestly tell me you're alright in the head looking like that. "
The man frowns "You're not human"
"How dare you! I have rights!"
The stranger fumbles, looking suprised "no. No, I meant you're like me- a alien"
"I'm not illegal! I have papers!"
"Not that kind of alien-! I'm Kryptonian!" The man floats down to Stanford beside Danny's seat. He reaches out to carefully ripe away the metal trapping him. "I think you may be as well, based on your biology"
Danny squints "How do you know my biology?"
"I used my x-ray vision to-!" Danny gasps, reaching out to slap the man across the face before covering his body with his hands. The man seems more startled by the fact that he was able to push his face to the side and then the actual slap.
"Stanger danger! Creep! Fruit loop!" Danny cries, turning intangible and flying out of the wreckage. "Stay away from me!"
He flies at his top speed, ignoring the call from the man. He can feel him following, and yes, he may be faster than Danny, but he's also solid and visible. Danny uses his powers to his advantage, losing him after a twenty minute chase.
It's only after three days of trying to get home that Danny realizes he's futher away from home than he originally planned. As in an entirely different world? It feels like it since Amity Park doesn't exist, much less, his friends and family.
Thankfully, he finds a nice little city that reminds him of the ghost zone for him to rest in. His new neighbor is filled with colorful characters, and there always seems to ve something happening keeping him on his toes.
Maybe this summer won't be so bad after all.
Meanwhile, Clark is panicking that a new Kryptonian had fallen from the sky, crashing landing near Ma and Pa's place only to have the boy disrespect him and escape. Now it's a race against time to find him before it's too late.
Also he was a little mean.
But where would he go?
Gotham. Danny is in Gotham, and he's yelling at people who keep trying to spray chemicals at him. He's having the time of his life.

A lightning round of ask replies below the cut:
Tumblr media
The moment Dick straddles Jason’s lap, Jason is (⁄ ⁄•⁄Д⁄•⁄ ⁄), hands slapping over his own face even as he turns to look away – so flustered he flushes everywhere and he just.  Slips right out of the chair, between Dick’s legs, and onto the floor before scrambling up and looking scandalized and Dick barks out the most beautiful laugh because Jason’s so damn cute.
Tumblr media
Bonus points if it’s Superman.
Bonus points if Superman and Dick have the same Superman lunchbox, so it happens on occasion that they get mixed up (the lunchbox was a gift from Lois – she uses it whenever she makes lunch for him to tease him; Dick is just Dick).
But anyway, Superman forgets he didn’t bring a lunch, so he ends up taking Jason’s on accident.  So when Jason goes to grab it, it’s missing and he’s ʰᵘʰ (ꐦ○_○)✧
Then he storms around and finds Superman eating the lunch Dick made for him and it’s so devastating.  Of course this is how heroes truly are.  Jason shouldn’t have expected different.  This is Batman’s bullying all over again. ;A;
Meanwhile Superman realizes what’s gone wrong and is panicked and so guilty.  And he apologizes profusely and offers to take Jason anywhere/bring Jason anything to make up for it but Jason is forever petulant.
And when Dick finds out Superman is just devastated because this boy who has loved and revered him since childhood ices him out; it’s a travesty.
Bruce patting Clark’s back because he’s been there.  And Clark just groans because their crimes are completely different, don’t even.
Tumblr media
Okay but Jason being like those cats that hunt things and bring back kills to their loved ones in a show of affection ahahaha.  Dick having that similar reaction of ‘please don’t–’ but also ‘you love me so much🥹?’
Tumblr media
Jason being the sole omega of the pack is one of my favorite omegaverse story details.  So is him being estranged and the toll that takes on him.  And where the family doesn’t realize until something drastic happens and they all freak out and step up and ahhhhh.
The visual of Jason starting out with a bleak safe house and having a nest that’s all scraps.  Everything ripped and torn because it’s not right no matter how he tries to fit anything together and he shreds everything in his frustration.  Jason sleeping just outside of his nest’s broken borders.
The family sneaking things with their scent onto him, or leaving them at his window.  Until Jason has a warm nest that feels begrudgingly safe.  Only now it’s wrong because it’s empty.
Just lots of nest things.  Where Jason runs away with a wounded Robin and sequesters them in his nest.  And when an alpha comes calling – Jason snaps his teeth at them for trying to take his pup and said alpha is surprised, but not upset in the least.  They’re downright smitten, in fact.  Because omega?  So strong and protective and nurturing and ferocious?  Hot.
Tumblr media
It’s so over-the-top smitten, but you’re not wrong anon hahaha.  Something about Jason seeing Dick as this persistent beacon in any darkness (be that in a reverent or begrudging way) is something that appeals so much.
Tumblr media
Yes.  Do I know what to write for this?  No.  Would I read it in a heartbeat?  Yep.
Tumblr media
Jason’s crew absolutely wingman for him once they figure out that their boss has the hots for the wingding bastard.  They’re weird about it, too.  Simultaneously helpful and threatening in the same exchange – the same sentence, even!
And they keep it on the down low because their boss has got a maiden heart and would get embarrassed (and kick their asses), so they’re always luring Nightwing to sketchy af locations to like they’re conducting a sketchy af deal/exchange.
At first Dick is confused, but for as subtle as Jason’s men keep these interactions, they’re pretty straightforward in what their expectation of Dick is.  It makes Dick feel a little fond despite the theatrics of these exchanges because Jason has a lot of people supporting him and want him happy and that’s nice to know.
Dick taking these people up on their advice and Jason getting seemingly irritated about it each time, bristling but relenting without putting up too much of a fight.  At which point Dick realizes that oh, maybe these people that work with Jason are for real?  Little wing has a crush on him?  What?  The realization hitting him right as he’s taking Jason out and Jason grimacing because wth is with that creepy smile?  And Dick is surprised at himself because he’s smiling?  Oh, he is.  Huh.
Just Dick being happy about Jason’s crush and developing a bit of a crush himself over the course of being set up with him by Jason’s crew.
The crew being real smug about how they’ve successfully hooked their boss up.  Only to revolt once they realize this means their boss’s ass is gonna get tapped.
Tumblr media
The crisis is that it makes Red Hood all the more appealing.  👀  Which of course Dick feels alarmed by, so he pulls away.  Which causes a misunderstanding of cataclysmic proportions because Jason isn’t aware of Dick’s moral struggles – just that Dick finds out Red Hood is Jason and all at once Jason’s been iced out and it hurts.  There’s no way Jason doesn’t take that personally.
While Red Hood had been unwittingly settling down, soothed by Dick’s affections – having Dick pull back on him reignites the wrathful fury and vengeance.
Tumblr media
Jason taking Dick and Slade at the same time and while Jason is a breathless, dazed mess, scrambling for purchase - anything to hold onto (I like to think Dick’s shoulders, though Slade is pressed up right along Jason’s back; he’s not going anywhere), Slade and Dick are just taunting and bitching at one another like Jason isn’t there at all. 👀
A kinky take on a round robin tournament where Jason seduces everyone with his contradictory vixen and maiden-like ways (bonus points if it’s not even intentional) and ascertains his position as ultimate bottom.
Tumblr media
Awwww, thank you so much!  It always makes me so happy to hear that someone enjoys my writing (though I know it's been more rambles than writing lately; so sorry - persisting struggles).  Thank you for that. <3
Personal headcanon for this is that they never actually say it with words.  Because there’s something about plausible deniability that these two cling to when it comes to each other.  Too tentative to push too far, too scared to take too much.
The love is there though.  It’s in the way they relentlessly taunt and tease and challenge one another.  It’s the lingering looks, the quiet considerations.  It’s the trust and hope and faith that they chose to have in one another, even if they’re left disappointed or frustrated or scared.  It comes about when surges of protectiveness overcome them and in quiet moments of vulnerability they never talk about later.
Basically shameless self-rec because it’s this series I wrote; this is my take on it, hahaha.

Sparks:Secret Origins(1983-1989)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
An experimental run that got made to try out what it would be like for Clark to adopt a kid and make them his sidekick, which ran for 66 issues
The unlucky lucky kid in question was Summer Kent/'Frankie Garcia' being his birth name given to him by the abusive Mayerlin Garcia and deadbeat Sebastián Garcia. One of his first memory's was seeing him for the first time at 3 years old and exchanging a wave and a smile with him and from that day on,'Frankie' became Superman's number one fan and after realizing his parents didn't actually love him and having no friends at school either thanks to 'her' tomboyishness, mixed afrolatina heritage and multiple undiagnosed neurodivergent disorders,he started dreaming he'd save him from them
On his 10th birthday and our intro to him,Lex killed his parents while on a rampage across the city in a giant Lexcorp robot by slamming them onto the side of a building so hard they died on impact and knocked 'Frankie' out so he could kidnap him to make him half Kryptofang, using the dna of the last surviving one that escaped Krypton just as Clark did and had hidden in Dominican Republic until Lex found it on a trip and had it killed to be used for experimentation.Kryptofangs were the kryptonian equivalent to dragons but with the add on of telepathy and considered culturally equal to regular kryptonians with a long history of allyship and community between them,a metaphor for Summer's biracial identity and Clark's black monoracial one
After three days at a Lexcorp lab,'Frankie's' greatest wish came true as Superman saved him and adopted him after some bonding when he brought him to his,Lois' and a baby Jon's apartment, their old house to collect their belongings and the Fortress of Solitude to gather Kryptofang info.Jimmy and Lana became his honorary uncle and aunt and Lana his homeschool teacher too since Clark and Lois pulled him out of public school to avoid him getting bullied and upon meeting Superman for the first time,'Frankie' turned into 'Summer' when asked for his name as he wanted nothing from his birth parents and choose his new name because that's the season he discovered Clark all that time ago.His sidekick name was 'Sparks',both because of his pyrokinesis and as a reference to his new family being sparks of hope in his life.Lex did a smear campaign against him to cover up what he'd done to him and it made Summer angrier, meaner and more violent than ever and earned the derogatory nickname 'Superpunk'(ofc Clark,Lois and Jimmy still did their best to combat it as reporters)
Sparks' gender was a mystery to the public and nobody dared to ask or make inappropriate speculations since his dad is y'know,Superman.Summer straight up demanded to help raise Jon and refused to give in to his parents nos so they let him have his way and taught him how to care for him.A year into their sidekick careers,Summer met Jason when Bruce and Clark brought them on a Justice League mission on the same day and they instantly butted heads because of having opposite personalities but by the end of the operation, they were best friends and the other's first friend and 'Basket case!''Bird boy!!' turned into 'Basket Case and Bird Boy' as affectionate nicknames and their duo name that kinda caught on.Summer was Jason's reconnection to blackness and latino heritage and he had mixed feelings on it by a complex childhood but he helped him really take pride in it like Clark and Lois did them
They did tons of 'normal' childhood things together in addition to superheroics and Summer flew to Gotham and Jason to Metropolis for hangouts on a regular basis.Clark asked Dick and Kory to mentor him and Summer started crushing on Dick on sight much to [Summer's] mortification because he couldn't hide his feelings in the slightest bit but he was never a pick me about Kory and instead had a healthy intergenerational friendship with her and also with Selina, which is where his love of cats comes from.Eddie was also a part of his friend group and them and Jason dubbed themselves 'The Magic Trio' and the only reason Eddie didn't hang out with them as much as they did eachother is Summer was exhausting himself to dangerous levels by flying to Hollywood regularly too and he had to beg them to stop for their own good.Summer developed more powers as the years went on,including infrared vision that turned his entire eyes hot pink, roaring and more dragonic body features that're retractable and used for gags sometimes.Summer's fear toxin vision is Jason and Clark dying in action and Jason's is Summer and Eddie deciding they never want to be his friend again, fueled by his 'the loser kid' status at Gotham Academy but also previous abandonment issues
Clark and Lois are the best parents Summer ever could and did ask for.Clark trained him throughly but never beyond his limits and always had snacks and a drink for him and Lois taught him to never back down no matter who tried to stop him and they both showered him in literally every love language and a secret sixth one:Chaos privileges. They let him do whatever he wanted as long as it didn't hurt anybody and he ran his mouth to everyone and everything, went anywhere he wanted if he had proper protection(like Jason,Eddie or an adult)and consumed any media he felt like with no judgement. This might've messed up some kids but Summer's 'special'(Read:Autistic with several additional mental shit and a kryptonian dragon hybrid). He calls them 'Papí y Mamí' and their nicknames for him are pretty much everything latino but the unique ones are 'Mi Luz Kryptoniana' from Clark and 'Verana' from Lois and Lois' canon adhd and dyslexia gave them a special connection like the kryptonian one
Summer finally had his bi awakening at 14 via Dick and Kory and called up Jason in panic so he could tell it to someone to face only for Jason to laugh hysterically in his face and Summer to scream pinkfaced at him to shut up and got his vegeance a few weeks later when Eddie turned out to be Jason's.The Magic Trio are autistic4autistic4autistic friendship realness and never got an official diagnosis because they found out by just googling shit together and also t4t4t4t but Jason and Eddie were early birds-Jason dosen't even really remember thinking he was a girl-while Summer was a painfully oblivious transmasc genderfluid and bigender egg with so much gender fuckery going on even two trans boy best friends,a t4t couple for parents AND fuckin' Dickkory for mentors didn't crack him.He was even goth punk!(The Superfam are all comrades /hj)
Jason used to help babysit Jon and had a pretty good relathionship with Clark and Lois too, them calling him 'Argonauta' and 'Curita' for his namesake.Summer'd hospitalized three of Lex's employes at this point but he's getting there /lh.Jason was positive influence on him with his happy go lucky attitude and softness, slowly making him more of an 'ideal' hero
When Jason was 15,he realized he'd fallen in love with Summer because Dick spotted it first and helped him realize it by comparing them to him and Kory and obviously he instantly entered denial mode because that's his best friend since they were 11 but it all adds up too much and denial turns into embarrasment turns into attempts at unspoken rizz.Jason uses the 'Shall i compare thee to a summer's day?' sonnet since Shakespeare is the only classical author Summer likes and he pretends to not be affected by it but internally he's blushing glowing but this is one among many to get him to make the first move and their relathionships grows even cuddlier thanks to it(including Jason diy'ing his own Sparks shirt to impress his anti-capitalist crush and creating a new slushie flavor all on his own that's cotton candy, berryblast and has chocolate and strawberry chips on top for them to share that becomes an official at Dairy Super)but Dick convinces him to ask Summer out to a Gotham Academy dance as a fullblown confession without much coersion needed
We all know what comes next but it's far from the end of Summer or Jason or their story! Here is a Summerverse Clois pic for your troubles♡

salt-and-vinegar dreams
Fandom: Percy Jackson and the Olympians Pairing: Percy/Annabeth Rating: T Word Count: 1256
Summary: Percy might have an evil, prophesizing grandpa hijacking his dreams, but he also has Annabeth, and she's welcome any time.
Based on Percy’s extensive and up-close experience of bullying and recess dynamics, Camp Half-Blood makes no sense. Sure, if he compares pretty much any aspect of his life among mostly humans to his life here, there are some fairly glaring differences, but this is what stands out:
Out there, a kid who wins a fight becomes the Toughest Kid, and nobody wants to mess with that kid. In here, a kid who wins a fight also becomes the Toughest Kid, but everybody wants to fight them to see how they measure up—even if, instead of pushing another kid down on the playground and kicking sand in their lunch, they clobbered the god of war with a humongous wave. Percy kinda gets it, in a weird way, like he’s kinda getting everything about this, being here, being who he is. But he’s also tired.
He’s tired of dodging Clarisse’s attempts to take her turn at him. He’s tired of turning his last conversation with Luke around and around in his mind until it becomes a whirlpool it’s hard to pull back from. He’s tired of the dreams. Sinister, persistent. Always at the cottage in Montauk, which really pisses Percy off because that’s their place, his and his mom’s, but as soon as things go all dark and foggy, he can’t keep Kronos out. Just once, he’d like to tell that trespassing asshole there’s no welcome mat for a reason, maybe slam the door in the face he keeps hidden under a hood like preserving maximum spookiness when Percy already knows who he is isn’t the lamest thing in either this world or the subbasement the Titans call home. Instead of being stuck in the front room, Percy would like to run deeper into the cottage to grab the baseball bat he knows is somewhere in his room (back of the closet? Under the bed?) and use it to crack that dumb lantern he carries. He’d like to rush Kronos before he reaches the door, keep him outside and chase him around, spraying him with the garden hose.
Yeah, there’s a lot Percy’d like to try. At the top of that list is a good night’s sleep. These new Kronos-flavoured dreams suck; like a watered-down salt and vinegar from the heavy fog. And when he wakes up? Clammy skin from that fog, and the general bitter aftertaste anyone might associate with interacting with their creepy pit-grandpa. Zero out of ten.
So he’s a little worn out.
While everyone else is cramming their final days at camp with hand-to-hand combat—plus other normal stuff kids do for fun—Percy’s getting really into afternoon naps. Oh, that’s supposed to be an old-person thing? Uno reverse, Gramps. He already has the Poseidon cabin to himself, so it’s not hard to find a quiet spot. Even with his shiny-new status as the Ass-Kicker of Ares, the Mount Olympus Backtalker, the Lotus Casino Strip Poker Champ (ok, maybe the rumours are getting out of hand), the other campers don’t usually seek him out here. His guess is that the cabin stood empty so long that it became sorta mythically untouchable. Maybe that makes him the murky algae growing on the glass of the haunted aquarium, but he doesn’t care. He just wants to sleep.
Except one person never hesitates at the threshold. She doesn’t seem to mind the fishermen’s cathedral aesthetic or the unusual light; it spills down through tall, diamond-paned windows and reflects off the lap pool to cast a wavy aurora maris on the ceiling. Annabeth’s not daunted by the creak of suspended skeletons or the lobster traps piled by the door (why?).
She gives him the face that says he’s making a stupid choice which may or may not actually be wrong (she’s still deciding) and asks, “Why aren’t you outside?”
“I’m the demigod version of Superman: I prefer my solitude,” he says, then pauses. “Or, I guess Clark Kent, ’cause I’m not on duty.”
Annabeth frowns.
“Who?”
“Just… this journalist. Doesn’t matter.”
“You felt like being alone?” she somehow translates, sifting through the broken oysters of his words for the pearls.
He looks at her, her head tilt that could be cautious except he knows it’s thoughtful, her steps that miss all the squeaky boards his personal water feature has swollen with damp, the way her straightforward question spreads like a ripple—you felt like being alone alone alone alone?—because her eyes keep asking it after her lips close. Her feet keep walking into his abandoned marine museum, his one-storey lighthouse, his rejected Little Mermaid film set. He looks at her.
“Not… exactly,” he says, liking her here. “I was just gonna try to get some sleep.”
“Would it be alright if I stayed?”
There’s this feeling in Percy’s chest—sore and warped, but warm and still. He’s glad she asked; it means he doesn’t have to. It would’ve come out of his mouth wrong, fumbled and awkward, even though they’ve slept near each other before, basically the whole quest. He nods; it’s alright if she wants to stay. He can’t say he’ll probably be able to sleep better with her watching over him, that, actually, he’s scared a lot of the time, but not so much with her nearby. Even if their eyes are closed and their defenses are down.
Though Percy doesn’t stray from tradition and put his guard up as he lies down on his cot, there’s an awareness of a different nature. Annabeth darts a look at him like she’s suspicious that he’s going to keep watching her, but then she does something kind: she sits at the edge of the pool, right in his line of sight. She has her back to him as she strokes her hand back and forth through the water. Percy rolls onto his back, exhales. He’s not going to fall asleep, but he’s watching the light change on the ceiling, and he’s listening to the gentle waves break against the sides of the pool, and his eyelids are feeling heavy…
The cottage surrounded by darkness.
Kronos with the swaying lantern, the billowing cloak.
Percy: wide-eyed to be suddenly adrift inside his own mind, the cottage a trick.
An ominous message, full of blame, full of a sickening pride, full of ownership and control and—
Do you ever dream about Mom?
The look in his dad’s eyes, and then falling, but falling through light, falling like floating on water.
Percy knows he’s still sleeping—it’s the one similarity between this scene and his seaside encounter with Kronos—because he’s looking down at the lap pool from above. The water’s serene, undisturbed.
When he faces Kronos, does his body give clues? Does he twitch or flinch or groan? Anything that might call Annabeth away from the pool? Because she’s sitting there on his cot, holding his hand while he sleeps. Did he do something to make her scared for him, or is it another thing? A scared-if-you-don’t-feel-this-too thing. Scared if you do. Percy doesn’t know if this is real, but the feeling of wanting it to be is. They’re just… a good team. And if his tired brain was reaching for an antidote to Kronos’s unwelcome invasion of his subconscious, yeah, it coulda done worse than Annabeth’s hand tucked into his, light on her braids casting shadows like sea turtle ribs.
She’s looking at him. Her head tilts, and it could be cautious, wary, unsure.
Except Percy knows it’s thoughtful. She’s always thinking.
Right now, she’s thinking about him.

Has anyone noticed that many heroes have weird or toxic girlfriends?
Tumblr media
. I used to be a fan of this couple, but then I noticed that sometimes Annabeth can be a little bully to Percy....making fun of his intelligence....like she is superior and he would totally be lost without her. I just wanted to see how she would manage without him in Tartarus. She can be arrogant and bossy. In my opinion, I think she got really interested in Percy because of his powers....you know being the big hero stuff and....she was lonely after losing Luke, Thalia...and many other things that happened to her. Her fatal flaw is pride, so I guess she rarely apologizes for her mistakes and learn from them. I don't blame Percy for having insecurities to express himself because he gets afraid of Annabeth's reaction...and the jealous thing with Rachel....everyone already felt jealous...but treat someone bad just because of it and not even apologize to the person? This is totally creepy....If I had a friend like Annabeth, totally obsessive and possessive of me...I would keep my distance from her. If I'm not mistaken, Annabeth even made Percy ask her to dance...is this serious? Because I don't remember from the book....grateful for that...but still...If a guy doesn't ask you out, don't make him do it. Dance alone...love yourself first... it's better than humilate yourself for a man...and he can do whatever he wants to do...he doesn't have to dance with a girl only because she ordered him to do it...
Tumblr media
Marinette is a sweet person, but sometimes she can be a creppy stalker. She even planned her future with Adrien who didn't even know her that well at the time. She even stole his phone. I see her character a little boring and forced sometimes. I never liked her as Ladybug because she was always bossy and boring...and sometimes even cold to Chat Noir. I don't like how they put the two together...her as someone smart and powerful and him just Chat Noir, the sidekick...the friend...the most important second hero. I think the best episode was Chat Blanc, when he used his power and she was gone. But her other version appeared to save the day...as usual....and I think she can be selfish too, especially to Adrien. Both remind me of Percy and Annabeth...I even stopped watching the series because of Ladybug.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
I'm a big fan of this couple, but still....in all universes, Lois keeps something from her personality...that she is always bossy and arrogant...and sometimes a little boring. But I guess it may be Clark's style because there is another man with the same personality....
Sometimes, Lois Lane can be a little annoying; obsessive and possessive of Superman. I know that she fell for Superman because of his values, but I think deep down she fell for his powers and beauty too...and she treated Clark like she was superior to him....
She looks like the only nice version of Annabeth. Well..depends on the universe too...because she was a villain in one reality...and at least in the new superman and lois series, she fell for Clark first 😊
Tumblr media
I love her so much, but she is a stalker or used to be..I don't know. She always followed Naruto and it was kinda creppy. He didn't like her or notice her existence....and even Naruto called her weird. Well, at least she was the only girl who never liked Sasuke!
In another version or dream (whatever that was)...Hinata even threatens Sakura for going out with Naruto, who wasn't even her boyfriend....
Tumblr media
For me, Iris is a bad version of Lois Lane. She can be annoying, bossy and boring. I don't think that Barry and her have a lot of chemistry. She bothered more the team than helped. Sometimes, she can have her great moments. She even jumped from a building to try to save Barry. She could have died. So, yeah....she can be good. But, still..."Savitar only had one job...only one job" 😅🤣

Clark Kent x Black Witch reader ft Jon Kent
Okay new story idea You and Clark are in a relationship soon are going to get married you have been helping him raise his son Jon who you absolutely adore! But there's an issue he comes home upset you try to talk to him but he tells you everything is fine that is no big deal just had a hard day at school so you believe them making a little snack and then he starts coming home even more upset and kind of starts ignores you to the point that you get upset and tell him if there's something wrong that he needs to tell you and he snaps and tells you that you are not his mother and to leave him alone, which breaks your heart so you leave him alone Clark comes home from a mission sees that you are upset asks what happened but just tell him everything is fine, the next day you leave the house, Jon wakes up late (you usually wake him up for school and make him breakfast) noticing that your gone he freaks tf out I mean this kid is speeding around the house and the barn looking for you while screaming for you asking where you are he thinks that you left him and his father because of the hurtful words he said and falls to the floor in tears thankfully Clark comes home and sees Jon crying asks him what's wrong but Jon just continues crying screaming
"She left I made mom leave I want my mom! I want mom!"
Clark thinks he's talking about Lois (they got a divorce) that's when you walk through the door holding groceries and a giant cake that you secretly baked with the words "Happy 10th birthday Jonathan Kent!" on top with a Superman and Batman symbol you ask "What is going on?" That's when Jon runs towards you giving you a hug a really tight one apologizing saying that he didn't mean to hurt your feelings that you were his mother that he didn't mean to make you upset and don't ever leave him again.
Later after calming down the poor boy he explains the real reason why he was so upset that day after school was because he's been getting bullied by other kids about you not being his real mother and that he didn't have a mom because no one loved him, Clark was upset after finding out that Jonathan had yelled at you but was also upset that he was being bullied something he understood you calmed him down tell him Jonathan's words which did hurt you but you could understand because you weren't his actual mother you didn't give birth to him but you did help raise him (Lois wasn't in Jon's life that much after the divorce and you've been helping take care of Jon since he was a 5 year old)
Jon hugs you again and tells you that he didn't care about what people at school thought anymore after he woke up and realized you were home he had thought you had abounded him which you reassured him was not the case that you just went to your grandmother's house to get his birthday cake hoping to make him feel better which it did everyone hugged and played games that night and celebrated Jon's birthday. The next day you take Jon to school on your motorcycle scaring his bullies and maybe used your powers and them think they weren't wearing nith but their pajamas, you loved that boy and weren't going let some little brats make him question your love for him as his mother.

Glad you like it lol
1: I know you said in a much earlier post that Jake develop his powers from fending off a bully but what did he do to the bully? (Unless you already answer this & im blind lol ) did he threw the bully, punch the side of a wall or locker and it cracked, accidentally shot a starbolt burning the bully, etc…
2: how did mar’i develop her powers?
3: what type of crime does the duo face on most days? I can see thieves & gangs of bullies being the main bad guys.
4: how often does the duo fight crimes? Everyday, once or twice a week?
5: what’s their phone Lock Screen & Home Screen background?
6: I know gross out humor ain’t their thing but does the duo use their butt as a weapon? like a flying hip attack, like kitana from mortal kombat or R. Mika from street fighter five. For humor: I can see either of the duo, most likely Jake, squatting over a goons face & striking two piece signs while making a silly face while Chris takes a picture XD
1) Based on this post by the ever excellent @/dar draws, Jake accidentally fired a starbolt at that bully, sending flying into a wall. Thankfully said bully at most some bruises and his shirt burnt off but not so thankfully Jake was distraught as he had no experience in doing that but moreso out of rightful fear of legit hurting someone with his powers kicking in so suddenly. The bully was the one suspended for invoking the situation in the first place while Jake had a lengthy conversation with his parents and sister afterwards over what they can do about this turn of events. Jake had to take at least two days off school before coming back with some light power dampers at his insistence so he can blend in better.
2) Mar’i in contrast to her brother develops her powers pretty much at birth due to her Tamaranean DNA being stronger than her human half. Upon a mere few minutes after first coming outside Kory’s womb, Mar’i was so joyful upon first ever seeing her parents, she began lightly floating in the air before Kory gently had her back in her arms. From there over the course of next two years, more of her powers began flowing in. For instance, Mar’i fired her first starbolt at two months, exhibited super strength at four months, and began to have some enhanced senses of smell and taste by the time she’s one year old. By the time Jake was born, Mar’i pretty much developed the near full power set
3) Chris and Jake, when not facing against legit supervillains, full blown alien invasions or psychopathic rouges including Zsasz, often find themselves taking down more petty criminals and gangsters within both Bludhaven and the slums of Metropolis. They also contend with corrupt business owners, predatory loan sharks, and even guiding drivers to safely traverse insufficient and dangerous roads until said roads are cleared for much needed renovations. Most interestingly, a lot of their patrols and capers take place within the neighborhoods and boroughs of both cities which have notable alien and other dimensional sentient populations, for instance ‘Little Tamaran’ back at Bludhaven.
4) Usually about four days out of the week during school quarters and just about six out of seven days of the week during summer vacation, spring break and winter vacation. On the days when they don’t patrol, it’s spent either catching on catching to whatever homework they would’ve missed before or likely spending time with their respective families.
5) Chris
- Lock Screen: A Superman Logo
- Home Screen: A Family Picture fearing Martha, Pa, Clark, Lois, Kara, Conner, Jon and himself during the Smallville County Fair when he was nine years old.
Jake
- Lock Screen: A Classic Flying Graysons Poster, much like one of the few hanging on the walls back home
- Home Screen: A Selfie of Chris and Himself during a break on patrol together
6) Okay now that seems a lot more plausible for the two of them to such poses for photos during particularly easier nights on patrols or even more commonly after taking down a rampaging big monster. You can expect that happening to Cinderblock quite a often after he’s taken down. The fact he sees that very often when looking up his files only furthers his drive to challenge the Duo
Edit:
Hmmm…..I say for the first part (of Question #6), maybe they do those moves if they feel especially energetic and excited during a supervillain battle @gothicghost2000

I was thinking of all the theme in My Adventures With Superman and came to a conclusion: I want to see Ultraman in this show!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For those who don't follow comics, Ultraman is an alternate version of Clark from DC's Mirror Universe: Earth 3. He is a sadistic bully who's really a complete coward with a massive inferiority complex.
And I know this doesn't sound like the most original idea, and people have been burn out on multiverse stories, but the second they established that Clark can only use his powers to their full potential when he helps people - which I think the idea is that his powers react to Clark being his most genuine self - introducing a threat that inverts that and also literally is a version Clark who lived his exact same life, only in a wolrd with cosmically inversed morals, could be really interesting.
Also, 'cause we could have a version of this scene to make everyone on tumblr go full-on "Protect Attack Mode" for Clark and on Clark:

💕+ Summer Kent from DC!! I’ve seen them a bunch but never properly asked :)
Alr let's goooooo Summer's lore:
He was born in Metropolis to a dominican couple that divorced when he was a baby and his birth mom got custody of him with his dad pretty much abandoning him until he started occasionally visiting him when he was 10.They were both abusive to him in the classic 'cishet and neurotypical parents with a queer and neurodivergent kid' way and his mom was also racist to him by doing things such as insulting his apperance(his mom being a white woman while his dad was a black man).Summer looked up to Superman for as long as he could remember and after realizing his parents didn't love him, started dreaming he'd save him from them(*'Waiting for Superman' starts playing*)
When he was 10,Lex killed his parents while on rampage in a giant Lexcorp robot across the city and kidnapped him to inject him with the dna of the last Krytofang,a kryptonian species i created which are pretty much dragons but with telepathy. The reason for this was to turn him into a weapon to finally kill Clark, who found Summer after a few days of him being experimented on and took him in,becoming his adoptive dad and Lois his adoptive mom and baby Jon his little brother.Clark and Lois pulled him out of public school to get Lana to homeschool him so he wouldn't get bullied anymore and Clark started training him to use his Kryptofang powers with info from the Fortress of Solitude and that led to him becoming his sidekick under the name 'Sparks',as a reference to his new family being sparks of hope in his life(Jimmy included)and his fire powers.Lex did a smear campaign against his sidekick persona and that combined with his trauma from watching his parents die made him become a basket case with anger issues and violent tendencies
He meets Jason when they're both 11 thanks to Clark taking him on a mission with him and they have a rocky start due to their opposite personalities but quickly become best friends.Jason is a positive influence on him and helps him become more of an 'ideal' hero.He also becomes friends with Eddie via him and Clark asks Dick and Kory to mentor him!!Dick was Summer's first crush and he gets one on Kory too, with a mix of jealousy, but dosen't realize he's bi until he's 14.When he's 15,Jason realizes he's in love with Summer and Dick convinces him to confess by asking him to be his date to a school dance but Ditf happens and Summer shuts down for a good while
On june 1st,he flies to Gotham to visit his grave and gets into a fight with Mr Freeze who accidentally kills him by hypothermia. When Summer is dead,he enters his headspace and meets the ghost of the last Krytofang and they have a conversation that ends with him naming them 'Fantasma' and they convince him to cope with what he's been through in a healthy way.Clark ressurects him with the Kryptonian Regenaration Matrix using a piece of his hair, which makes him grow pink and yellow kryptofang scales around his nose and he also lost a few fingers to frostbite so he has prosthetics now,and him and Lois send Summer off to stay with Martha and Jonathan for a few months.Doing farm work, learning how to bake from his abuela and getting into drawing greatly help his mental health and by the time the Death of Superman/Reign of the Supermen comes along,he's become a ray of sunshine mom friend who's super feminine.During this time,he meets Rose and they have an enemies to vitriolic close friends to lovers to exes arc and Fantasma helps him learn how to use his unlocked telepathy
The KRM had been destroyed briefly before Clark's death but John and Summer manage to fix it together after forming a parent-child bond and they bring Clark back with it.Kon and Summer clashed a lot, especially because Kon had been created to replace his Papí,but do end up coming to love eachother like the siblings they are.He also starts loving video games when he goes back to living with his parents due to playing them with Jon.Summer resents Tim for replacing Jason and the same goes regarding Stephanie at first until the two of them and Cass got to know eachother better and became best friends. Thanks to the girls and Kon being trans people who are all gnc in their own ways,Summer's egg cracks and he makes a new identity for himself as 'Ember' and makes himself a femme costume with Dick and Kory's help.He also gets a sideshave and dyes his remaining bangs light pink and Clark gives him a kryptonian name to matching his new middle name:Va-El,based off 'Valentino'
He does many big heroic deeds, becomes hailed as second to only Clark himself as Metropolis' hero and i haven't planned it out yet but Mia,Chris and Jon Lane get introduced around this time and Duke is the 5th Robin in this verse instead of Damian!!Summer also gets a job at his verse's equivalent to McDonalds AKA McSupers LMAOOOOO.His plot in Utrh is that Bruce called him to Gotham to help deal with Red Hood, not telling him that the reason was that he has a feeling it's Jason and hoped he could get through to him,and him and Jason get into a fight where Jason eventually recognizes Summer and takes off his helmet, shocking him.Jason tries to go in for a hug, smiling and saying how much he missed them, but they fly off in tears at his best friend becoming a villain
They try avoiding him but he's always on their mind after that so Fantasma forms a mind link between them and Summer and Jason start having telepathic conversations every day for months and sometimes pay visits to eachother in their city's,reforming their best friendship that they'd thought they'd lost.Jason also gets his confidence in his feelings for Summer back and starts flirting with them all the time to show it,which flusters them and that they deny enjoying.Damian comes in and Summer takes up the a 'cool big sibling' role to him and he's one of the first people Damian genuienly befriends.Jason's an influence on them once more but this time in the opposite direction-He makes them more sardonic and brutal, leading to the Metropolis media framing Ember as 'evil all along' and Clark,Lois and Jimmy try to fight this but it hurts Summer so much that they finally join the Outlaws as a new vigilante identity, complete with a new costume:Ignite. The Outlaws in their verse are Jason, them,Rose,Eddie,Kyle,Artemis and Thaddeus, with the first four being the founding team and the last three joining in later
The team becomes found family over the course of Rhato and Summer eventually has an extremely bad day with the stress of vigilante work and missing the Superfam to boot and Jason comforts them, which leads to them kissing and having sex.Summer, dense as ever, still thinks he's not in love with Jason and they agree to be friends with benefits but act more like a couple than anything.Halloween comes along and they sneak out in (non-hero) costumes to take Jon trick or treating and stop by McSupers on their way back to the Outlaws base, where Summer finally has their love epiphany and bluters out a confession when they arrive home.Jason kisses them and confesses back, starting off with his realization at 15,and they finally start officially dating. The Outlaws disband on good term shortly afterwards
Clark ends up in a coma after saving Jon from Ultraman so Summer takes up the Superman mantle in the mean time, making their own costume that takes after their Papí's but also has their own touch on it with the other Superfam girls' and John's help. They also start mentoring Damian's Teen Titans generation with Jason,Stephanie and Duke and the team consists of Damian,Jon,Maya,Surren,Colin,Nell,Maps and Kathy. After a long time,Clark wakes up and Summer goes back to being Ember, with it being common knowledge that they were Superman and thus making Metropolis regret what they did to them, finally seeing them as the hero they are and loving and respecting him just as much as they do Clark.Also...Jaysumm have a daughter HDHDHDHR IK I'M CRINGE IK but her name is October because they started dating on halloween and she's a trans girl, pastel goth, has Mabel Pines Brand AutismTM,becomes Batgirl when she gets older and her parents call her 'Dragonita' <3
Edit:Two new bits!!They're are now 3 more Todd-Kent kids(found under my 'Los Todd-Kents' tag)and Jason gives New Ember a pink domino mask to symbolize him being happy with and accepting both sides of himself :>

I saw @turbulentpumpkin43 do this for Ariadne and thought, why the hell not ... I always love a chance to talk about my Most Archetype of All Time Guy! 💗
(More below, but the rows basically line up to his looks, themes, and personality in that order)
Boromir (Lord of the Rings) - From the start, Daren's whole concept was "what if Boromir escaped his tragedy?" [Daren's relationship with Alistair is basically a direct inversion of Boromir and Aragorn]. I love Sean Bean to death and when I needed a comfort character to recreate "just for fun" of course it was going to be him. I have him to thank for Daren's tenacity, protectiveness, and stunning profile (and for teaching me how to love my nose by proxy).
Peter Pevensie (Chronicles of Narnia) - The character I used to temper him on Daren's second playthrough! He's the source behind his idealism, dry humor, and faithfulness. I had just rewatched The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe at Christmas for the first time in several years and reimprinted on Peter like a baby duck. If I was going to play a noble, I couldn't think of anyone nobler. Also they're both big brothers ... which is why I NEEDED to make Maeve Cousland canon.
Odysseus (The Odyssey) - I love Love LOVE giving characters classical mythology parallels, before or after the fact. This is a more recent inspiration ... I used to say he was my Achilles because of his struggles with rage and PTSD, but that didn't feel quite right. Then I realized his propensity for lying, bargaining, and above all enduring made him a perfect Odysseus. All he wants is his home and family back, and that's his reward after a harrowing journey, but it's changed and so has he. You can never truly go back :) .
Eliot Spencer (Leverage) - This slot was up in the air and for a while I strongly considered putting Murtagh or Jaime Lannister here, because I really felt like this list needed a villain. And specifically one that was charming yet had a very particular relationship with violence. But in the end I chose Eliot, because he has the exact right mix of self-aware control, gentleness, and absolute ruthless brutality. For Daren, this applies to both his battle prowess and political/social clout and he can wield both as equally deadly weapons. He knows how dangerous he is, so he's content letting the people around him forget from time to time.
Horace Altman (Ranger's Apprentice) - Just like Daren, Horace is a secondary protagonist and serves as the strong arm and reliable ally to the titular hero. He's a champion, a prodigy when it comes to warfare, and head-over-heels for the princess. While he started as a lunkheaded bully, he grew into an honorable, thoughtful man. I'm finally reading the last book in the series where he is in his late 30's and I realized that he and Daren got the exact same ending. All the way down to saving the world, marrying the queen, and having a precocious adventure-seeking daughter. Way to go, fellas.
Clark Kent (Superman) - I have been obsessed with Lawful Good Paladin-coded Heroes since I started reading Justice League comics at the age of 5. Although he has more internal ethical struggles than Clark (usually) has to deal with, they both respond to injustice with the same open, uncomplicated desire to save people and Do The Right Thing. Daren is, under all his stoic responsibility and PTSD, just a big fat goober who tries to hide his feelings so his friends never worry about him. He's used to being the strong one, the reliable one, and his most important and deepest bonds form with people who make him feel safe to be vulnerable and see the toll that shouldering the weight of the world takes. Also, they both love women who boss them around.

Mike Opening Up to Will: A Realisation
Okay. Holy fucking shit. I just realised this about what Mike was saying to Will in the van, before Will used El as a buffer for his own feelings.
We all know that the "I don't believe it," line is significant. But you know what else is significant? This one: "...and one day, she's gonna realise that I'm just some random nerd that got lucky that Superman landed on his doorstep."
Superman.
Not Superwoman.
Superman.
Since Mike was speaking about his girlfriend in this scenario, it would have been easy for him to say Superwoman instead of Superman. Mike also references Lois Lane, another character in the Superman series: "At least Lois Lane is an ace reporter for the Daily Planet, right?" Lois and Clark, Superman's civilian identity, were both journalists: they were equal to each other. In this, he is expressing how he feels an imbalance between him and Eleven: he is not her equal, and he knows it.
Lois and Superman/Clark have been in a love triangle for a very long time: Superman's civilian self, Clark Kent, was in love with Lois. However, Lois was in love with Superman, his superhero identity. What does this say about Mike and Eleven's relationship? El's 'civilian self,' the version of her without her powers, is in love with Mike. However, Mike is in love with the version of El with her powers. He is in love with the idea of her, not who she actually is.
So how does all this relate to what Mike is actually saying to Will in this scene?
The main thing to remember is that Mike says the Superman line before the Lois Lane line. Why would seemingly straight Michael Wheeler reference a male superhero in that first sentence, when he is specifically speaking about his girlfriend? Why would he say Superman instead of Superwoman?
Because this is the first time Mike Wheeler is indirectly expressing his queerness outside of himself.
We have seen so many signs that Mike is queer in the background of this show: the endless framing in closets in regards to El (I'm going to talk about that in another post!), the sign in his bedroom saying "One Way," pointing to his closet; the song Smalltown Boy being the first one on his official Spotify playlist, & the song being about a young gay man being forced to leave his home because of ostracisation and bullying.
And with this line, it is the first time we see Mike acknowledge it.
In the same way Will proceeded to use El as a buffer to talk about his queerness, Mike used Superman as a buffer to talk about his. And not only that, he does the same thing again, but using El as a buffer this time, in his 'confession of love' (which I will also be talking about in another post). With him using the word Superman instead of Superwoman, he is outwardly expressing his own attraction to the same sex, even if it is in an indirect way.
The second line, expressing how, "...at least Lois Lane was Superman's equal," he is expressing to Will how he feels inadequate compared to her, not just because of the quite literal power imbalance, but because even his feelings are not equal to hers: he does not feel the same way she does about him. This is a queer, closeted boy, forcing himself into heteronormativity, and slowly killing himself whilst doing it.
But the most important question of all to ask is: why does Mike tell Will this? Why does he not just keep it to himself the same way Will has for years?
There was an obvious breakage in his and Will's bond as soon as he got together with Eleven: he neglected Will in favour of his girlfriend. Yet, even as he did, there were still moments where he showed just how much he cares about Will: riding after him in a thunderstorm to apologise about their fight. Never giving up when he went missing. Repairing his and Will's bond by showing just how much he's missed him.
And with that reparation came a familiar trust, the kind you can only have with your best friend. Mike and Will have always been the closest in the party out of everyone. Of course Mike would indirectly express his queerness to Will. He trusts him, and he loves him. Of course.
And then we see Will open up to Mike about his queerness. Mike's opening up causes Will to open up. And even though Mike may be 'pretty clueless' about Will's feelings for him (especially since he is literally the glue holding him and El together), he sure is not clueless about his own feelings for Will.
That's why he said what he said, and why he said it in that order. He expressed his queerness, and then his inadequacy with Eleven, because for him, being queer is so much more important than his crumbling heteronormative relationship. It is part of who he is. And with those lines, he finally got to express it.

Been watching Superman & Lois recently, and with the 3rd season wrapping up, I wanted to talk about what I saw as "Drama Busywork" in this season.
One of the b-plots in this season is that Jordan, one of Clark & Lois's sons, is dealing with Teenage Issues. In episode S3 E12, he sees people make fun of his superhero alter ego right in front of him & he responds like most kid superheroes do in these types of shows, basically saying "so what if this new superhero is a kid and wears goggles? seems like this new superhero is kinda badass and saved some kids!"
That exchange makes his ex, Sarah, think that Jordan doesn't care about his secret and having a secret identity… despite the fact that she saw the entire conversation start to finish and saw him keep the secret, all he did was kinda go "whoa hold on peers, what if the kid hero is cool and awesome instead???" Sarah, going off of this wild interpretation of events laid out in front of her, tells her mom, Lana Lang.
But this game of telephone telephones-back? It starts as "heyyy what if the new kid superhero is cool haha", then Sarah sees this as "Jordan doesn't care about his secret, so I shouldn't have to care about keeping his powers a secret", which Lana Lang takes to Clark and Lois as "he cares too much about his alter ego", and finally Clark & Lois go to Jordan with "you don't think people knowing about your alter ego is bad". And this last point isn't in a "People should know Superman and Clark Kent are the same person" way, it's in a "People should know Superman exists" way.
So Jordan doesn't actually get to address the core problems here, which are:
1) he is a bit of a Teen Weirdo dealing with Teenage Adolescence on top of being a Teen Hero
2) His relationship with his ex, Sarah, is Bad
Watching the season finale right now, and we haven't gotten any meaningful closure on this Jordan arc. So, like, what's the point?
It really feels like meaningless drama that isn't really adding much to the story or the characters, it's just giving them something to do. Just a lot of characters handling things horribly, AND characters who aren't handling things poorly have the memories of goldfish.
One of the other characters, DOD Grandpa (cannot remember his character's name, but he's Lois Lane's dad) is the one who got Jordan on this whole alter ego track! But when everything comes to blows about Jordan wanting recognition as his alter ego, he gets to just kinda peace out of that whole conflict.
Another example from this same episode is a Clark and Kyle interaction, part of the C-Plot of Jonathan (Lois & Clark's other son) feeling kinda left out of the whole family because he doesn't have powers like his brother and he's not someone of worldwide importance like his mom.
Jonathan has been working as a firefighter in-training with Kyle, Lana Lang's ex. Recent developments have made it so Kyle knows Clark is Superman. This has had an impact on how Kyle treats Jonathan, since Kyle knows that not only is this Superman's son, but also Kyle used to be Clark's biggest bully. Clark goes to Kyle and asks to not treat Jonathan any different because Clark is Superman, and clearly and concisely states that this is about Jonathan not wanting special treatment and Jonathan wants to make it on his own merits.
Kyle would literally not be receptive to that idea from anyone other than Superman, he's still in "this man could kill me and coulda killed me in high school when I was his biggest bully" mode of thinking. So, how does Kyle take this new info to Jonathan? like Jonathan went and ratted to his dad! Even though Jonathan clearly states that's not what happened, Clark just overheard him talking about work! Jonathan's obviously comfortable talking to Kyle about these issues, or else he wouldn't expand on them and defend himself by basically saying "what, you expect me to never talk about work outside of work?"
This is the drama equivalent of worksheets. This is busywork. I don't feel like anything productive is happening here in these interactions, either as character work or as narrative. This doesn't get into the fact that a lot of underlying issues here are just… not really brought up again!
If we focus back on my two points with Jordan, there's one that's just normal High School Drama Stuff. The second is his relationship with Sarah, his ex. Despite this second point being a huge driving force in a lot of Jordan's B-Plot (I'd argue the reason he wants to be recognized as his alter ego is directly caused by this awful relationship) there isn't much movement on dealing with the relationship.
This angle is completely unresolved. The Sarah & Jordan angle starts going sour because Sarah cheats on Jordan over summer camp. They talk it out, and are still together despite it, until Sarah decides because of her own cheating she just wants to be friends. Jordan is (understandably!) heartbroken about this, and tries to continue to be friends with her and it bleeds into that first point. Now he's gotta deal with this heartbreak, on top of the usual High School Drama Stuff. It is the catalyst for all these other things in his life, and all his actions, but like… nothing satisfying is happening there!
(Additionally, this plot point hits really close to home for me! I've been on the cheated-on end of a situation, and watching all this knowing it comes from this unresolved issue that hits close to home makes watching Jordan's B-plot hard! However, that's a Josh-Issue not a Writing-Issue, but I felt it needed to be said so you can take that together with my criticisms)
Again, this all feels like busywork. I don't think any character development is happening, and I don't think the character work being done is good in these scenes. It's just… nothing. I know "Filler" gets thrown around a lot, but this feels like that! This feels like padding. It feels like taking up time to hit a word count.
Next season a lot of these characters are leaving the show. On the one hand, it sucks cause I think they're good on-screen! I don't necessarily dislike these characters! On the other, I think having a smaller cast with less of this writing baggage will likely be for the best, or at the very least we get a different type of bad writing.

superman & spiderman are different characters but I think it's stupid to pretend they don't have overlap, even more than the way most superheroes already do. early peter stories are VERY easy to compare to Clark stories- what if Clark wasn't an adult, first of all, and what if Clark was a less "perfect" kid, what if he was a little selfish and had to learn by error. that really feels how you end up with that early peter.
(there also seems to be a point made of "he's a NERD not a JOCK and he got BULLIED", but I feel that's a misconception about superman stories. because in most of them while Clark is superhumanly strong, he's not allowed to use it for anything else by the Kents, & as a result is also a nerdy kid who sometimes gets bullied, just not as effectively. by the seventies films, he's not allowed to participate in school sports by his father because he would outpace the other children, and that's not fair to them, so he doesn't, even if he doesn't like this restriction- he is Not actually a jock. he's just actually strong.) my point is, a Lot of the reasons spiderman fans posit for superman being "worse" are just....not actually true if you read some of the stories. they're things you would assume about Clark based off the premise, not things that actually happen in his stories.
that being said, as a fan of both, I think there's a place for both. they both revolve around themes of what kindness and responsibility to other people means, even after tragedy strikes, and finding your place in the world with it.
(I could also draw further comparisons between their workplaces and love interests, which once again people claim are soooo different but really truly arent- they evolved into something different, respectively, and I'm pretty sure peter's were created with memories of Clark's in mind, as the story that came second. this, again, is not a criticism, but pretty interesting to me to see how superheroes influence each other as time goes on, because it's such a large genre that's been around longer than most people now.)

I said I was going to read it, and I read it.
And now I know why no one else has in 55 years.
Spoiler Alert: he doesn't actually electrocute Clark, and was never going to. Utter bullshit.
The only cool things about this old guy are 1) his name is Homer Ferret, and 2) he looks like George Burns.
Tumblr media
What is uncool about this guy is that he is an optometrist who has been stalking Clark Kent since he was a baby, for reasons he never goes into.
Like, he is just at the Kent's house when Baby Clark does his first heroic thing (pushing a runaway train car off the tracks). He is also suspiciously at the high school when it catches on fire, to see Clark jump into a bush from which Superboy then emerges to blow the fire out.
Did Homer start the fire? If not, why the hell was he hanging out at the high school? We never get answers to these and many other questions.
My favorite part is where he guesses (correctly) that Clark is Superman, based on his glasses. But not in the sane way of noticing that Clark Kent looks exactly like Superman if Superman wore glasses. Remember, no one in the DC Universe can apparently do that. Instead, as the only optometrist in Smallville, he knows Clark Kent never bought glasses from him. Once he has Clark strapped to the chair, he looks at Clark's glasses and realizes the lenses are just fake plastic ones (this was back when glasses actually contained glass).
Clark, as usual, just fucking lies and says he wears fake glasses because he is a giant coward and figured glasses would make kids bully him less. Because that is how that works.
Homer doesn't buy it, either, and so demands Clark admit he is Superman or get juiced. At the last second Clark FINALLY decides to use his X-Ray vision to look through the floor, where he sees that the generator attached to the chair is a low voltage one. Homer throws the switch and it tickles Clark with like 2 volts.
Then Homer admits he wasn't 100% on Clark being Superman after all, so wasn't going to risk killing him. Clark says "oh, you!", and decides to do a Daily Planet report on all the Superman artifacts this clearly dangerous obsessive has collected into a Superman shrine in his basement.
No one gets punched a single time.
The only good thing about this story is this random full page portrait of Clark Kent looking vaguely upset:
Tumblr media
The other story in the issue is better, in that it is way, way dumber.
It starts off showing you how YOU TOO can draw Superman!
Tumblr media
I feel there are a few steps missing here, but
Jimmy Olsen tells Clark how he is joining an art correspondence school, and Clark IMMEDIATELY decides it is a scam worthy of Superman's attention. And sure, it is definitely a scam being run by mobsters. But the second half of that is not remotely true.
Before he starts using X-Ray vision and perfect recall and telescopic vision and TIME TRAVEL (yes) to "solve" this crime of low-level mail fraud, he has to interview a kid who wants to be a cartoonist at the Daily Planet. Where he says this:
Tumblr media
I think I get what he's supposed to be saying in this weird attempt at 60s Mod talk, but it took me awhile. You give it a go.
He also is a total dick about how much this child's comic strip sucks.
Tumblr media
I mean it's no Silver Age Superman comic, but they can't all be, Clark. And let's be honest here, the bar is pretty low.
At some point in his "investigation" of this scam art school, Clark decides the best plan is for him to create forgeries of classical Western paintings. By this point he already has more than enough evidence to have these guys arrested, but he didn't get to do any pointless TIME TRAVEL yet (yes), so, priorities.
He flies back in time to study the painting techniques of the great masters. But he is bad at time travel (yes, literally), so he accidentally flies through the tail of Halley's Comet, which makes him 1) 16, and 2) blue.
Then this happens:

Let's unpack this.
1) Superman was the inspiration for Thomas Gainsborough's "Blue Boy," because he at this point is a boy, who is dressed in the mostly-blue Superman costume. ...But also because his skin is blue. You know. Unlike the boy in the painting.
2) Gainsborough uses Superboy as a model, in that he has him pose, holding a hat. But the boy in the painting is wearing a completely different outfit of rumpled velvet. So Gainsborough just did the complex outfit from his imagination, but he needed Superboy to show him what a boy holding a hat looks like? What bizarre level of "master artist" is this?
3) He doesn't paint the Blue Boy's skin, because Superboy has blue skin, and that would be too weird. And while he can obviously do imaginary clothes fine, he needs another model with normal-colored skin to do a face and a hand. ...Even though he only chose Superboy as a model in the first place, partly because he has blue skin, which makes him a 'Blue Boy,' which is what inspired the whole painting in the first place. ...Except he never intended to actually make the Blue Boy blue-skinned. So...
Adult men with families and mortgages wrote this.
After this, Superboy flies back through Halley's Comet's tail, restoring his age and color. Then he goes to visit Rembrandt, where Rembrandt ACTUALLY DRESSES HIM IN A PERIOD OUTFIT, to use him as a model for one of the figures in "The Night Watch". Because Superman is so muscular.
Because, as everyone thinks when they see that painting, "Man. That one guy in the hat is buff as shit." (?)
Notably, yet again, the painter doesn't paint Superman's face, this time because a officer of the REAL Night Guard paid to have his portrait put in the painting. But I guess that guy's body wasn't all swol and hot enough for Rembrandt's painting...of that specific guy.
"WHAT DOES ANY OF THIS HAVE TO DO WITH GETTING THE POLICE TO ARREST THE MOBSTERS RUNNING A SCAM ART SCHOOL??"
Good goddamn question.
Superman comes back to the present and creates perfect forgeries of the two paintings he was inexplicably involved in creating. When the mobsters try to sell them as the real paintings, Clark Kent shows up with the cops and points out how the forgeries aren't actually perfect, he made them slightly different to prove they were fakes.
And this somehow is a crime the mobsters get arrested for. Instead of Clark Kent, who very obviously painted the forgeries so that these guys could sell them. Like, that was their plan, that the heretofore whatever Daily Planet reporter Clark Kent is suddenly such an amazing artist that he can make near-perfect forgeries of great paintings. And Clark went along with it, until he stopped. And this finally proves their art school is a scam. Even though the building they are in literally has trashcans full of art submissions they have thrown out once they take the registration money out of the envelopes. And all the secretaries working for them know the whole plan and have been helping them do it.
I'm not inferring that. That is all specifically shown in the comic.
None of this was necessary. Absolutely none of it.
On the plus side, at the end, the Daily Planet hires that kid to do his monkey comic. But just the writing, because Clark still thinks his art sucks. Jesus Christ, Clark.
Tumblr media
Here is an ad for a hobby model of what was at the time an 11 year old station wagon.
I'm not being sarcastic! That's what their ad copy says! That's how they sold this!
There is also a Letters to the Editor feature, which I didn't take a picture of, because they print everyone's full names and hometowns. Yes I know even those kids are probably dead now, but I'm not going to chance it.
At any rate, about half the letters are children telling DC's editors that these Superman stories are stupid and full of inconsistent nonsense. To which the DC editors reply by defensively snapping back at them.
So it's not just us, as adults, now.
They knew. Everyone knew.

[Image description: The cartoon at the link, complete in the “preview panel” as I do with the ones I wish easily circulated. Clark (SUPERMAN) Kent of DC Comics is confronted by two men in blue and black uniforms. One is saying, “Retract what you wrote in your column about police being bullies. Or you might find yourself an apparent suicide in a car fire.” Unfortunately there are not image descriptions at the main Hero Of Three Faces site. End description.]

questions for extraordinary muses (accepting)
1. When did you realize you had an ability?
Clark was vaguely aware that something was off about him for basically as long as he can remember -- he was a little too strong, a little too fast, his senses a little too sharp. The one he couldn't ignore happened when he was twelve. He accidentally took off at super-speed and wound up miles away from home, with no idea what had happened or how to get back. It took his parents hours to find him, and they didn't offer much explanation besides acknowledging that he had some unusual abilities and urging him to keep them hidden.
The full reveal came when he was fourteen, and he was struck by a drunk driver. After walking away without so much as a scratch, his parents realized it was time to tell him everything.
6. Have you ever been bullied, ostracized, or feared for being different?
He's never been directly bullied for it, but he has felt very ostracized. There were some things he couldn't do as a child and teenager simply because it wasn't entirely safe until he had full control of himself -- the main one being sports.
When he first revealed himself to the world as Superman, amidst all the awe and adoration, there were plenty of people calling for his head. They were afraid of what someone so powerful could do if he had no higher authority to keep him in check. He had to work hard to earn the world's trust, and he is very careful not to lose it.
7. Has your ability altered or manifested in your physical appearance?
His eyes glow red when he uses his heat vision, but otherwise, not really. (The muscles are not a superpower! That's just what happens when you're very physically active.)
11. Have you ever had an embarrassing moment while using your ability?
He has definitely overheard some things he would very much like to unhear. He's accidentally broken quite a few things -- as a teenager, he ripped his bedroom door off his hinges more than once. And he once flew into a flock of geese -- thankfully no one saw that one.
12. What is the hardest thing about having a special power?
It's a tie between the loneliness and the responsibility. The loneliness from being so different from everyone else, not having anyone who really truly gets it. And the responsibility of having to control himself every hour of every day, to make sure he's not hurting anyone or overstepping any boundaries or abusing anyone's trust.
