Danny Phantom Headcanons

Technically he's 114 because at some point he got blasted 100 years into the past and decided after a day of having no idea what's going on (and figuring out the date) he found a cave and fell asleep and his ghost half was like, I got this and then he woke up at at dark the night before the fight. He incorporeal-ed out of the (now buried) cave and spent the day fully waking himself up (y'know how ghosts are usually at least a hundred years old, well that's because they need sleep and time to adjust to the whole ghost aspect and fully change, the hundred years of sleep made him feel better than he had since about a week after getting his powers, they also gave him a few new powers)

He is paler than he is in human form because death and all

Also he is slightly eldritch and because he is so powerful sometimes he forgets what humans look like and accidentally changes how he looks, he keeps having to ask how many teeth people usually have, or where joints are supposed to be, most of the time he can remember where and how many eyes he's supposed to have.

Also a personal head cannon of mine is that he is truely really eldritch looking in ghost form and uses his powers to make it look more human. (Seperate post: So Tim just stares for a moment and Danny goes visible and reveals a really powerful and definitively not human creatures wrapped up in a blanket and NASA pyjamas. He looks really cute with his hair all messed up and only two out of his fours eyes are open because he's tired.)

His true ghost form is bigger than both his human and ghost forms. In his true ghost form: all of his teeth are sharp and sometimes they stick out form his mouth (his mouth is bigger than it should be on a human), he's limbs are longer, his hands and feet are closer to claws, he has four eyes with no irises and (sometimes) slit pupils, his hair is the same just floaty, he barely ever walks and chooses to float (although he has legs; when he goes into the more ghost like floating one it looks more like a tail of a snake but no scales, it is much longer than in his ghost form and he often finds himself invisible wrapping himself around things he likes.) Probably more I haven't mentioned, creepy and other vibes.

He is much more protective of pretty much everything once he became a half ghost. He has to fight the urge to investigate new arrivals into amity park (HIS town, HIS haunt) and if his family gets hurt it's game over for the villain and he is far less forgiving than if they had simply hurt himself.

The other ghosts and non-humans seemt to realise that amity park is his haunt (esspecially once he becomes the ghost king) so yeah. Once a small fraid needed refugee and they brought him gifts and pormised not to cause trouble, he agreed because he knows it's the right thing to do and also he really loved the gifts.

He has a small haunt in the ghost zone, it is pretty much a small decaying room but he fixed most of it up and added beanbags. He has newspaper pages about himself and/or the fentons and powerful ghost items hes had to fight.

He also has a lot of space stuff because he does't get much time to fulfil that obsession, always busy with his human life or protecting someone

He likes it there and often goes there to deal with more ghostlike urges or to heal if he doesn't want to worry Sam and tucker and others.

Ghosts purr like cats? Hell yeah they do. Danny did it without realising for almost a year before Sam and Tucker pointed it out. They have tid-bits from other animals too, Danny has to fight the urge to steal or buy any shiny and brightly coloured objects, he really loves jewls. He hisses sometimes. This shows especially with ghost speak, it can sound so many different ways, like the whispering around a cursed object in a horror game, or like birds chirping and clicking to one another, it changes.

To him violence is more of fun and game thing, he understands it isn't to regular humans so he avoids it but he find he doesn't harbour grudes where he perhaps should because the violence doesn't seem all that big to him (for example doesn't care too much about Dash, but he HATES Vlad because he is protective and Vlad messed with his family)

He has four ages. For example when he was 15:

As far as the humans around him know, he's 15

Biologically he's 115 because of the long nap

Because of time travel shenanigans with clockwork he has appeared all throughout time so history wise he is as old as time

He's only been a ghost for 1 year so you could say he's one year old

He died when he was 14 so he could be fourteen

The urge to bite to show affection, not like sexually or anything. But bite ankles, legs, arms, and sometimes neck or hands.

Very clingy when tired. (Totally not projecting)

Blushes green with star and planet and comet and ect freckles.

The way into his heart is gifts. He cannot handle grand gestures so this is mainly food and shiny things you'd find on the side of the road then clean. (Paulina and some other girls once found this out. It was shared lunch in school and they got thrown into the ghost zone, Danny found them but was hesitant on inviting them to his haunt because it's his, and so they offer him some of the food because not offering would be rude. Then one of the girls mentions she had some old jewellery where the jewels fell out and was she holds up this bag the sparkles and he says he'll take them and then decides that they can come to his haunt.)

Also psychical touch, head pats, arm holding. He is akin to a cat and cannot fight the instincts to curl up around you and purr.

Autistic. (Also trans)

You know how ghosts and ectoplasm are kinda non-solid and in some cases can be moulded? Well Danny is too. He finds this out because he was in the forests looking at this really pretty butterfly and suddenly the rings come, he freaks out because he wasn't trying to go back to human but then he sees his hand and realises he's still ghost? So he finds a pond and he has beautiful butterfly wings that are black and white and green (the green parts glow!) and antennae! And so he focuses and transforms back to ghost and so he does this a lot now (Danis favourite is this one spiky lizard she found, she had spikes that looked up through her hair, claws and a tail and thought it looked awesome! Dan however only did it once and secretly really like it, he saw a cool glowing mushroom and without realising parts of his human skin disappeared to reveal a soft green glow beneath them)

He loves scaring people but can only do it to assholes because moral compass (so asshole politicians coming home after partially cruel cases, people who are rude to staff at places Danny likes, ect.)

Dan doesn't have a new body. He worked on morals and slowly changed from evil ghost looking to just having really pale skin, white hair, fangs, and red eyes. He loves grey hoodies.

^^^Okay this has changed now that I've read AGIT so I'll update it soon. Pretty much his ghost forms and human forms mix quickly and he only has one form, but when he gets mad he looks like evil dan and if necessary he can manage to look human for a while.

Okay so he does have a human body, he has Dannys clone. But it feels wrong to him, eventually he mixes his two forms, he was white hair that doesn't fire which he keeps tied back in a pony tail but still has a puffy-over-his-face part like Dannys, you know what I mean. He was the build and body of a 30ish year old man who isn't strong, but still works out enough he's not weak. His skin is pale and slightly discoloured but enough to pass as human, this human illusion is absolutely destroyed when you look closer and realise his teeth are sharp (usually just fangs but sometimes all the teeth) and his eyes are red and glow slightly, not to mention the sense of other he radiates. If he gets mad or uses a lot of power he looks like how Dan did originally, buff, fire hair, red eyes, ect. If he absolutely has to look human he can, but it gives him headaches and it feels wrong.

VLAD. HAS. PINK. EYES. LIKE. HIS. POWERS.

Therefore Dans powers are red, not like Vlads pink ones or Dannys green ones, oh yeah and Danis powers are more of a nature green than a toxic green, this changes slowly over time as she begins to become her own person rather than just a clone.

Sams purple eyes (which GLOW sometimes) are the first sign of being ecto-contaminated she gets

Ghosts fight to show affection, Danny and Dani have scared so many people when they straight up stab eachother and arefighting like cats than laugh and hug and complement each other on their skills.

Danny Phantom is the Ancient of Space, Heros, and Protection (with protection and space also being his obsessions). He smells of Ozone and other space-like smells and no one quite understands how, he hums tunes that replicate stars exploding and/or dying, he is truely the embodiment of 'the longer you stare into the void the void stares back' because sometimes people see galaxies in his freckles, nebulas in his eyes, his body disintegrating and reforming in tiny portions, his skin shimmering like star dust, and the longer you stare the more you notice (his crown and regalia, more space stuff, ect).

Jazz is liminal and stronger than most of Amity Park (who are only Ecto-Contaminated in most cases), she can communicate feelings and things that words can't describe with Danny and other dead stronger than most of the other people in Amity as they are weak (compared to her at least) and she also figures out Ghost Speak. She also has constantly barely glowing eyes that go bright when she's really feeling strongly and she hovers a few inches above the ground sometimes on instinct but can't properly fly and while she can't go intangible she can do if it serious danger/full flight or flight response and adrenaline. Her life span will be about 50 years longer than normal and she will become a sentient ghost when she dies although only slightly above average on the power scale, her status as princess and under royal protection of the king himself (Danny) makes up for that.

Danny makes his own grave out of (I chnaged it from a star) ectoplasm which is near impossible to destory, also his rouges and many other ghosts defend it. It doesn't get broken ever because Clockwork also looks over it.

Danny can tell when people write about him and he can change it, nothing ghost writer level, but simple things like:

It's always white hair not grey

Sam and Tucker are always friends not minions or servents

No sacrifices

He doesn't even realise he's doing it, the cultists do though.

Danny just starts speaking in ghost speak. He's tired, it's exam season, there's a new ghost who's a real fruitloop, and it's getting harder to be human as he gets more tired.

He gives an entire speech in ghost speak, but it was on ghosts anyways so Mr Lancer was just impressed

On one of the nights he actually managed to get to sleep he got chased out of the house because he made a noise that no human should truely be able to when his parents tried to wake him up.

Being a ghost is in his nature now and it's getting harder to act normal, especially because he keeps forgetting about ghost empathy and that he really shouldn't know someone's feeling that way.

You know how todlers get teeth when they're two? Halfas do that with fangs (they can kinda of change what their fangs look like, mouth full of sharp teeth, vampire, normal human teeth, ect) but first they need to deal with all their teeth falling out and being replaced with sharp teeth and a jaw strong enough to cut almost every metal, it aches and aches and Danny is so sore.

Finds writing hard because those are solid words, ghost speak (which comes naturally and intuitively to him) is much closer to speaking with your emotions, if it could be called speaking. He had learnt engough english to be able to keep using it (even if he did start using older versions of english sometimes due to them being dead languages) but he had barely learnt to write before becoming a ghost, he can write he just can't really put what he's meaning to say in words.

Low spectrum autism

Has more than two forms but also can change in his seperate forms, for example he can function and look exactly like a normal human in a human form or he can also have fangs, or just a mouth of sharp teeth, and pointy ears.

Dan redemption arc becomes pyscopomp, souls meant to have died and in pain instead of dead he kills, takes a weeks break then uses clockwork to go to the start of the week and work for two weeks, then he has another break week and repeat.

When Danny gets strong emotions the floor freezes below his feet and he glows brighter (and some more stuff)

Green blush

Danny prefers the form of what you see in the cartoons because it's children friendly, and is basically his default form, but when exhausted he reverts to not his true form. The suit is a bit more chunky as there are layers made for radiation protection, it has a radioactive logo instead of his Danny Phantom logo (he chooses to change that normally) and one of the arms suit is blown off, his arm itself has lightning scars up it which to to his neck but thankfully not his face (they carry over to his human form sometimes, depends on his mood and a few other things) and the hand is blackened and charred with the bone showing around the wrist and on some of the fingers, he still feels pain in it and has to wear a compression glove sometimes, mostly in human form.

Danny, ice core, protectors core, space core, this mostly depends on your headcanons and/or the story you place him in.

Dani, water core (prefers fresh water and the life within it but can make and/or control water as saltly as her soul) she also has control of weather like Danny did for that one episode (loves making tropical rainstorms in the middle of the ocean). Dani gets droplets of water on her skin like condensation like how sometimes Dannys skin freezes over.

Dan, fire core, but cold fire, the type that burns because it's too cold, the type that makes you think your safe but is burning you, he also has a little control over lightning and storms, if he tries really hard he can make them go away but they also come naturally when he's mad or angry

Jazz not liminal enough to have a full core but her liminal-ness allows her to be able to understand ghost speak, hear and feel other people cores, ghost empathy (not to mention floating an inch of the ground sometimes, eyes flashing or glowing and reflecting light in ways humans shouldn't, too many teeth sometimes, just a little wrong)

Most strong emotions result in Dannys: eyes glowing brighter, body glowing brighter, starts speaking in ghost speak (either from emotions getting hold of him and him wanting to rant or English not being able to capture what he's saying right or being beside himself with rage or ect), floats off the ground a little, ground freezing around him and everything he touches,

Strong emotions like hopelessness and giving up result in: eyes going dim and being almost blue, the light he glows with flickering like a drowning torch, speaking in a mix of ghost speak and English but keeps tripping over his words (if he can talk at all, screaming, sobbing, speechless, ect), probably can't fly, frost and cold leaks out of him he can't control it his environment goes subzero and gives anyone who touches his ice gets echos of what he's feeling also the ice is dangerous instead of just cold dangerous

Ghost instincts

By the time Danny gets his apartment, he has labels all his foods, there are two major labels. If you look in his cupboards you will find half of his stuff is labeled norm which is written on white tape, and the other half have the word ecto on green tape, these are what 'species' the food is safe to eat for, norm meaning humans and ecto meaning ghosts (even though ghost can eat human food there's no need for the confusion of having ecto on all the human stuff, if ecto was a spice imagine this as levels of spice safe for different species, anyone can eat the bottom). There are a few smaller groups like Liminals need some ecto but can't have just straight ecto, so some containers have Liminal labels next to the ecto labels; there are also Contaminated labels people for ecto contaminated who can eat things a decently more contaminated than liminals can; those are all that really matter because halfas can eat just as much ecto as ghosts. There's also a white board in his room which he writes reminders on, there is a big sentence in the middle reminding everyone to eat both their daily needs of ecto and human food.

Ecto contaminated

People who've been around ecto, whether in a lab like Maddie and Jack or simply been around a lot of ghiost attacks like the entirety of Amity Park. There aren't really any side effects (none obvious ones anyways) apart from the fact that your used to ecto; eating some won't kill you even if it's not good, you don't get weirded out by ghosts, liminals, or death touched that aren't quite human anymore, and ghosts in general seem just a little more intuitive.

Liminal

Liminals are a step up from ecto contaminated, people who have contact with ecto often like Jazz, Maddie and Jack were wearing hazmat suits which were just enough to keep them from becoming liminal. Side effects of liminals are: eyes that relfect light like cats and sometimes glow, unconsciously floating a few inches above the ground, needing to have just a little ecto (one meal of ecto contaminated food every week works if they can't be in a place with enough ambient ecto), live longer and age slower, they have weak cores that can have their colours (Jazz is orange) but they can't have core types, pointy ears and sharp teeth occasionally. Ther are also personal side effects, you can have a lot or a little of these, Jazz gets ghost empathy for example as she wants to be a therapist.

Death touched (Sam and Tucker)

Death touched are like liminals, but closer to being a halfa than just a strange human. You can't be both a liminal and a death touched, it's one or the other. Death touched happen because they came close to death, this can happen in multiple ways, someone might kills thousands of people or be so surrounded by death (even if they didn't cause it) that they become a death touched. Death touched can also be created by coming close to death themselves, maybe they nearly die (or do die) but are miraculously saved or brought back, a stab victim somehow surviving, someone's heartbeat brought back at the last possible moment; they can also survive, an acrobat who hesitated and didn't grab the broken equipment, a rock climber who managed to grab another rock and stop themselves from falling to their death, things like that create a death touched. Sam and Tucker are Death Touched because of being so close to Danny and nearly getting killed so many times because of it, Sam decided Danny would go in the portal first, the events of Undergrowth and Freakshow and Dan. Death touched have powers, they can use basic ghost powers like intangibility, flight, invisibility, ectoblasts, but it takes a lot of effort and it's hard to train, they also have stronger personal powers which are normal ghost strength rather than weak (Sam can control plants, Tucker's a technopath and can summon sand because of the whole reincarnation thing), they have weak cores but their cores can have types and colours (Sams core is a dark purple plant core).

Halfa

We all know what halfas are, like any 'levels' of ghosts they can be more or less powerful, they also died in a ghost portal or somewhere else where they were blasted with ecto as they died (they can also just half die or be revived wrong, but portals are the main reason). The basic thing is: they have both human and ghost stuff equally, a liminal might need to have some ecto to be alright ad be able to mainly eat human food but a halfa would need a normal amount of both, or humans need to breath or have a pulse but they don't have too and can silence their cores (and therefore ecto signatures) to levels that would kill a ghost, they have both obsessions (a ghost need) and need to have social contact (a human thing), this can differ depending on your head canons/which au this is in and which halfa we're talking about but that's the basics.

Ghost (ember)

Write stuff here! Died and became a ghost, not much to it, more powerful ghost can leave the ghost zone, everyone becomes a ghost, a ghosts memory or their human life can range from none to every detail, etc.

Neverdeads (clockwork)

Write stuff here! Ghosts who never died and kinda just popped into existence or were born, never died but are ghosts.

While Danny died to electricity, he also had radiation and ectoplasm (all three of which killed him and then revived him (the electrify doing most of the killing the the ectoplasm most of the reviving)) and Danny did not in fact pass out, he was stuck in limbo for 5ish minutes then fell to the ground, arm charred and with Lichtenberg scars, while puking a mix of ectoplasm, blood, and the stuff he'd eaten and drank the last day.

True ghost form has black scalera (the white part of eye) and he changes it for kids to be lest scared

A haunt

A ghosts territory, theirs to protect/rule/dictate depending on the ghost. Like Danny and Amity Park.

A lair

A ghosts house, it might not necessarily be their haunt even though sometimes it is. Overall it's like a second haunt, but only for them, it's almost always in the ghost zone. Like Skulkers island or Clockworks tower, or Pariahs castle/keep (even if technically it's the high kings). Danny doesn't have one yet but I'd imagine he gets one shortly after accepting he's the ghost king.

A nest

Almost like a bed, either in a ghosts lair or their haunt. It's almost always just one room (often a bedroom), it's a place to be comfortable, to be theirs, where a ghost will feel the most safe. I can't think of an example for this.

Share the Scars From Our Abandon (Person of Interest/Rinch, post-series)

Night after night he reaches out for something, anything, to soothe the ever-present ache under his ribs, the one that calls to him when the sun goes down, reminds him that he has family, love, a home somewhere out there, wishing he were in it right now, if only he’d seek it out. super rough jotted down ideas for Ace!Henry FirstPrince (RWRB)

They do talk about how to navigate physical intimacy. Henry loves touch, craves it, wants to be wrapped up in and around Alex as often as possible, his breathing slowing to match the steady rhythm of Alex's heart under his cheek as they cuddle in bed. For your Half-Normie AU:

I don't know much about monster high lore but did the ghost/ghoul students who attend the school actually die to become ghosts, and if they did die did it happen recently or a long time ago? If they didn't die or if their deaths happened a long time ago would they be horrified by how young and recently Danny died or would how he died (electrocution is not a quick or painless way to go) shake them more? Would Danny and Tucker's amity park activities be considered highly dangerous and suitably horrific to any non-normies or is this a blue-orange morality type thing. This whole ask hinges on if you're even planning on using phandom levels of angst in a distinctly monster high au so feel free to ignore me.

this is a wonderful ask! Cuz despite the very cheery and child friendly vibes that monster high puts out, much like DP it contains a LOT of secret angst. Like several of the ghouls have pretty tragic backstories? From the De Niles having been buried alive in their tomb for 100s of years, to the loss of Draculaura's biological parents.

But specifically talking bout ghosts here, I'm basing this mostly what I know of Spectra ngl. Cuz she is one of the few monster's where her backstory is Legit a mystery. All we know is her whole family is dead and that it was something tragic that she doesn't like to talk about. In MH it seems kinda taboo to like point out the fact that Ghosts are in fact Dead People? You can acknowledge they're currently experiencing their Afterlife, but referencing their actual DEATH?? unheard of.

And obvi they aren't going to acknowledge death a whole lot cuz its intended for a younger audience. But it does leave an interesting effect on the world. Where ghosts are treated like just another type of monster despite the fact that a majority of the one's we meet were very obviously Humans before they died(theres also a background ghost who has wolf ears in Haunted and also its canon that ghosts can reproduce with other monsters to make hybrids or just by themselves?? Scarah doesnt seem to have a dad as far as i can tell). Death, for the ghosts and other undead students, seems to be a very Difficult topic that many of them just... don't really acknowledge. Which absolutely leaves for a lot of hidden trauma and issues that would be sweet sweet pickins for the angst fiends.

a study in: the "american psycho," being raised by a government-sanctioned killer (career soldier), the horrifying consequences of glorifying fascist violence, "you are not immune to propaganda," deeply internalized trauma manifesting in extreme ways, becoming the void as a trauma response, toxic horror fans, the ghost face as a narrative allegory to the preemptive, calculated serial murdering culture of violence propagated by the western military industrial complex, etc.

The Chill Pill 2000 Trip Hop / Downtempo / Pop / Breakbeat / Deep House / Dub

I seriously *cannot believe* that this double-disc comp isn't on Discogs, you guys. You'd think that they'd have nearly every electronic release in the world indexed on there by now since that's been their specialty as a music database since jump, but they somehow missed this one. And it's from a label that's a subsidiary of Sony, for fuck's sake!; not some random-ass, low-budget, barely existing label no one's ever heard of! Plus, it has Portishead, David Byrne, Suede, Primal Scream, Jamiroquai, Björk, Kylie Minogue, Leftfield, and the Happy Mondays on it! Those are all huge names! I mean, how do we still not have a full accounting of someone like Björk's discography of appearances on Discogs in 2022?!? Humanity has failed us.

Anyway. Throw this one on the rather large pile of excellent big label chillout collections that came out at around the turn of the millennium. Seems like every major record company put at least one of these things out every year while trying to cash in on the chillout CD craze and this is yet another shining example of all that relaxing, loungey bliss 😌.

But don't let the Eastern-looking statue on the cover fool you; there's nothing that's really Eastern about this thing at all. What a slight majority of this is though, is a showcase of trip hop music in many of its different forms, from the magically chunky and silly electro-funky kind, courtesy of frequent Beastie Boys collaborator Money Mark, to the dramatic and cinematic orchestrally dubby kind by Björk and David Arnold, to more varyingly poppy strains from Kylie Minogue's "Breathe" and Moodswings' early 90s new agey oasis, "Spiritual High," that features Chrissie Hynde on lead vocals and was partially co-written by Vangelis and Jon Anderson from Yes.

And we've also got plenty of non-trip hop stuff too, like a pair of deep house cuts from Dubtribe Sound System and The Beloved, the latter of which is a late 80s Ibiza-flavored remix by Danny Rampling; Primal Scream's "Higher Than the Sun," another Ibiza-sounding one that was produced by ambient house duo The Orb that's transcendently experimental and features on PS' 1991 landmark album, Screamadelica; back-to-back slices of acid breakbeat from Endorphin and Leftfield; and Brazil's Deodato delivering a nine-minute, early 70s jazz-funk take on Richard Strauss' late 1800s composition that was used as the theme music for 2001: A Space Odyssey, "Also sprach Zarathustra," whose abridged single version actually peaked at #2 on Billboard's Hot 100 😮.

Yet another fantastic turn-of-the-millennium chillout-type comp to sink your teeth into. A little more eclectic and retrospective than most. Check out other big label chillout-type comps I've dug into over the years here, here, and here. All of them are mostly on a similar type of vibe, but there's really not much overlap in selection between them. So if you've never really taken the plunge before, consider the totality of these posts to be your little chillout starter pack 😎.

Kingmaker, Kingbreaker, Crowntaker, Realmshaker (DC x DP)

Idk how many people who follow me know but I love my notfics so here...

A Kingmaker Danny Phantom where he's not (technically) king after defeating Pariah Dark because he's still uhm… a child (who is untrained in diplomacy and barely knows anything about Ghost Culture), but whoever replaces Pariah is fully aware than Danny could at any time beat them up and install someone else in their place. Maybe it's not even explicit and Danny doesn't know.

Pandora tells him: "Oh, we got a new king of the ghost zone, nah, you don't know her but she's tight with me and Frostbite. But we're not really having her use the crown and ring, they're going to be for emergencies only." and Danny is like "oh cool, my buddies approve of the new king, I don't need to be further involved!" but because of this assumption, he doesn't go to the coronation, and it turns into a huge source of tension because like:

"Why should we be concerned about any decrees given by the new king, when at literally any moment, Danny Phantom, the BAMF, the myth, the legend, is probably going to show up and give a legendary smackdown and make this ghost Pariah's new roomie?" Then some of Danny's long-time foes start to play very nice with him, in the hopes that when (not if) Danny decides to replace the new king that they might be in the running for a minor barony or something under the new regime. Danny does not think this about-face through, just thinking 'oh this is neat! how convenient that everyone wants to be my friend now!' Ghosts often refer to him as 'ghost child' and I love the idea of him being the little brother of the entirety of the amity park-adjacent section of the infinity realms. Johnny could teach him how to ride a motorbike, skulker could teach him some ghost engineering (assuming he is involved in the construction of his own suit) etc. These rumours of the upcoming 'next king' who doesn't even exist, of course gets back to the new king and she's like

"idk what I have done to anger Kingbreaker Danny, he hasn't even given me a chance!" SO!!! She decides to reach out to some humans she knows for advice on how to win over a little boy (her creepy insinuation very much unintended on her part). Here are some options of varying hilarity for how she could go because I couldn't pick just one!

Vlad!: Your standard, non-crossover option. I personally love redeemed Vlad content (maybe Maddy crosses a line and his Obsession with her snaps), and this could be amusing if the king doesn't give many details so he doesn't realise it's Danny, and then when he does realise, freaks out about having adoptive parent competition.

Constantine/Zatanna: Both magic-y people, they could have summoned her at one point before or after her coronation.

Wonder Woman!!: If the king knows Pandora maybe Pandora referred her as an old buddy of some of the gods or other amazons. The king could just say they need to talk to a human expert not connected to Danny without giving more detail and pandora could say "oh yeah, the gods who created me have some human-ish relatives and one of them even lives with other humans. she's basically my cousin!" meanwhile Diana has never met pandora and doesn't know anything about her outside of the OG myth.

Superman: Danny shares a lot of superman's powers, plus they both have that OP vibe, PLUS share the "one foot in each world" type of thing that could lead the king to think he was the best option. Unsure why they would've met so reaching out as a stranger would add a different vibe.

The Flash: his speed powers canonically come from another dimension that he calls the speed force. do you know what is also another dimension? the ghost zone. The flash is that annoying neighbour who occasionally dangles an extension cord over your fence to use your electricity, and will not stop using your Wi-Fi because it runs faster than his. The king figures he owes her and if he won't then she'll change the speed force Wi-Fi password...metaphorically.

Actually, you know what, ghost king threatening all speedsters on Earth if they don't help her woo a teenager is the funniest option. So, we’re continuing with that. Obviously, the flash doesn't want to lose his abilities! But also, this smacks of a creepy grooming situation. The flash then has to awkwardly explain to the entire justice league that his speed is being held hostage by a dead cougar who wants to seduce a human teenage boy for reasons that may be illicit but are jenky at the very least. There are hundreds of Danny joins the batfam fics so I don't think this story needs to go in that direction, but batman would probably have to be involved at this point just to figure out who the "teenage victim" is. That is how Danny Fenton meets most of the main justice league with them not even having an inkling he's dead/secretly a ghost hero. Most batpham fics I've read where the batclan figures out Phantom's identity, they see him fight ghosts and look up ghost experts, find his parents, see a family photo and then make the visual connection. Like superman, Danny's identity is mostly in the clear because no one would think that a ghost would even have a secret identity - he's dead (and thanks to the time travel he's done appears to have been dead for centuries), who would he need to be protecting?? But this time, the ghosts are all playing buddy-buddy with Danny so phantom hasn't necessarily had any super public fights recently that would make investigating protections against ghost attacks a priority for the bats that would lead them to holding up a picture of Danny next to a picture of phantom. Mostly, Danny goes ghost to play with cujo (I love cujo), or visit the ghost zone. Casper high students are BAFFLED at Fenton's eclectic friend group btw, though considering his parents the ghost dog totally tracks for them. *GASP* service dog Cujo....but that's another post for another time. Jasmine Fenton is not impressed. This could also be Sam or Tucker, or any of Danny's newest ghost buddies if you like but as an oldest sibling I have OPINIONS. She thinks Danny is safest taking this perv ghost on himself and not risking a possessed/overshadowed justice league or even just the justice league themselves. That's right kids, the justice league is often in canon closely associated with the USA government - the same government who put the anti-ecto acts into place. NOW! a lot of crossover fics have the justice league completely clueless about the anti-ecto laws and GIW. I don't always find that realistic. The entirety of the justice league dark is pretty closely involved with the dead and ghosts (deadman IS a ghost), clark is an investigative journalist married/dating/besties with another, award winning investigative journalist, Bruce is the most paranoid and well informed man alive with two sons plus one batgirl who have died and been brought back through mystical or scientific means, Diana is (in some canons) meant to be an ambassador representing her people to the entirety of mankind. So, none of them even being vaguely aware of this new law does NOT track for me. I think a few possibilities are...possible: - They know about the laws, read a few scientific papers on ecto-entities written by "experts" which would include the Fenton parents and pre-redemption Vlad, and think 'yeah that checks out no reason to fight this' - They know but as they rarely deal with the national justice system as a team, and therefore don't think about it as a positive or negative thing. It doesn't apply to their lives. Think about how much you know about your local laws, let alone obscure federal ones (in some parts of Australia it’s illegal to be holding more than 50kg of potatoes, just as a random example!). - Some of them agree with the "experts" or don't even know about the laws, whereas Batman, John Constantine and Martian Manhunter know they're a crock of shit but themselves lack the political capital to fight them without leverage and can't justify it without an emergency.

Danny's ghost buddies are told that apparently some ghost is threatening the justice league to get to Danny and go back into the zone to investigate. I genuinely think once their obsessions are no longer at cross purposes, Danny could totally help ghosts to fulfil their obsessions in ways they hadn't considered, and they could be buddies for real now. Think Tucker setting Ember up with a YouTube or streaming account, playing paintball with Skulker, introducing Walker to one of those uber-elaborate RPG or tabletop games with massive amounts of rules and letting him be like Matt Mercer in the Rules Lawyer round of Um, Actually. There’s an entire separate fic here I swear.

Either way! Jazz is trying to warn her brother away from the justice league while he and probably Tucker are all 🤩. Danny knows it's dangerous for him personally but his Obsession with protecting the town knows that Amity has never been safer with all these heroes milling about so it's hard for him not to be over eager and relaxed. The flash is explaining how his powers could be removed if he doesn’t comply and Danny says, “oh then just tell her?” and the league is like “oh no, not another self-sacrificing teen.” Unfortunately for everyone involved, Superman has super hearing. He heard Jazz telling Danny to kick the Justice League to the curb. Now the Justice League thinks there's something foul in the Fenton household, but they think it's Jazz instead of Danny.

In the same vein as my 'Proper Characterization in Ships' post, as far as LGBT is concerned, I feel like I treat it similarly to my other preferences.

For instance, I'm not a fan of the color gray & don't think it's a good color, especially for things like walls or hair dye or such. Even still, just because I don't like it, it doesn't mean that when I walk into a room & see grey walls that I'm gonna pretend that those walls AREN'T grey because that'd be delusional.

Similarly, I might not agree with the LGBT lifestyle IRL, but I still acknowledge that they exist & refuse to try & take away their ability to choose what they want to do with their lives. I don't support anyone trying to push their views onto others. It's one thing to recommend things to someone & have a civilized debate about the merits of it, it's another thing entirely to harass & pressure them.

So, when I view a character, I will try to get a vibe off them & be like, "oh, I can see how people could think this chick is a lesbian" or "nah, dude, this guy has shown zero interest in other guys beyond friendship level; he's not gay as far as I can see."

Like, there has to be evidence for me to think a character is gay or trans or whatever, but if there is enough, then sure, I'm not gonna deny it!

However, because of this, I don't like it when other fans don't do the same because it feels like they just wanna be woke or are projecting their views or personal life experiences onto the characters & I think that's kinda dangerous.

Like, sure, in cases with the silent protagonist where there's not much characterization, then that's the perfect medium & you can go hog wild! That's what the silent protagonist is for: self insertion.

At the same time, in regards to the whole silent protagonist/self-insertion thing; don't tell other fans that they can't hc that a self-insert character can't be something.

Like with Frisk/Chara from Undertale. So many fans say that Frisk/Chara are non-binary & can only be non-binary because they use they/them pronouns, but didn't Toby specifically say that those pronouns were used so that the player can decide what they want them to be? I've seen a lot of fans absolutely ride a person's ass if they so much as insinuate that they consider them male or female. Stop that!! Frisk/Chara are self-insert characters, so if I think Frisk is female & that Chara is male, then that's what I think & there's nothing wrong with that because the creator said so!

Not only that, they will argue forever that Frisk can only be a child because of what Monster Kid said about stripes & the fact that Frisk is wearing stripes. But the thing is, that's a monster custom! In human customs, stripes mean nothing! Not to mention that it's such an arbitrary standard for gauging age! I get it for monsters because they are so ridiculously varied in shape & size & appearance. So, it makes somewhat sense for them, but humans don't have that problem! We can generally tell a person's age just by looking at them, no matter what they're wearing. Of course, there are some exceptions, but they are exceptions. You shouldn't treat everyone based on the exceptions to the rule!

At the same time, you should also take into account the environment, time period, technological advancements, creator's intent, & standard levels of bigotry within the world the character lives in.

For instance, before, I brought up how I don't believe Danny Phantom is trans, specifically, I don't think he's transmasc, & how Hartmen's words only cemented my beliefs.

Another example is Harry Potter. I honestly do not think that Harry is trans &, in fact, I think there's even more evidence of him not being trans than there is for Danny.

Let me explain. In the very first scene of the first movie, Mcgonagall says "And the boy?" regarding Harry. He was 1 year old! This makes it nearly impossible for him to be transmasc. The only way that he could possibly be transmasc would be if his parents had wanted a boy & instead of accepting that they had a daughter, decided to tell everyone that she was a boy, which is an utterly horrifying thing for parents to do to their child & should be illegal! I can only see him being transfem & even that I don’t see as being very likely!

Not to mention that, while the first instance of a binder was is 1920 & it's therefore possible to a certain degree; the Dursley's attitudes towards Harry & general bigotry, would make that practically impossible. Do you really think that they would support his transition, let alone spend actual money on a binder just so Harry could feel more comfortable in his own body?! They'd had him since he was 1 & even if they didn't change his diapers themselves, I imagine that anyone they hired to do so would've mentioned something. The Dursleys would know what his biological sex was & would've treated him as such. I doubt that he'd even have a concept of what trans is or even consider the idea that he may be something other than what he's always been treated as! It didn't even click inside his head that all the weird things that happened around him could've been magic until Hagrid told him directly that he was a wizard, where would he even get the idea that he could have gender dysphoria in that day & age?? It was the sort of thing you researched not heard of other than in the derogatory!

If Harry was trans, he'd HAVE to be transfem because it's, if not impossible, then at least very highly improbable for him to be transmasc given the evidence & the environment that he grew up in.

Then, even in fanfiction where he was trans, he'd have, logically, been famous in the wizarding world for an entire decade as being the gender he abandoned & considering the wizarding world's own unique brand of bigotry, do you really think that they'd embrace his decision?

So, no. I don't think J.K. Rowling was being a bigot when she said that Harry wasn't trans, because in the setting that she created for him, being transmasc was all but impossible. So, get off her ass & your head out of yours!

I'm just saying, if you're going to just arbitrarily make a character trans, even if it's a character that you created yourself, try to make it make sense as far as their environment is concerned!

Sure, in a modern American setting where everything has to be woke or it's broke, you could get away with it, but if not there, then depending on the place & time you DO decide to choose, the character could literally be slighted for execution!

my brain has just been overflowing with DP fic ideas so I figured I’d throw a few out into the void and see what sticks and what can be expunged, like blood letting.

- A hypothetical third installment for when I am dead, my dearest that is pure vibes and no real plot right now in which Val learns more about the ghost boy’s life and begins to make some connections.

- Danny’s core is destabilized by a Fenton invention and is dying when Clockwork appears and offers him a way to save himself but with a heavy price.

- A social media style AV diary of Tucker’s diary covering Danny’s powers and growth. Filled mostly with funny anecdotes, theories and notes on Danny’s powers, descriptions of adventures and a way to confide about the stress.

- Danny gets outed as a ghost........ hunter and so he has to pretend that he’s a normal human hunting ghosts and keep his powers under wraps.

- Danny died in the accident and haunts Tucker and Sam, both ‘hanging out with them’ like the good old days but also because he blames them for what happened. Tucker is freaked, Sam is drowning in guilt and convinces herself its fine.

- That one post about how Danny’s core gets zapped so he’s unable to use his powers anymore and becomes despondent. Works with the ghosts to jumpstart his ghost side again.

- Danny as a human just being deadbeat exhausted when a ghost shows up in school and he viciously threatens the ghost into leaving without ever using his powers, using the force of his reputation to have them scurrying.

- Want to explore some post canon stuff, I have like 3 potential ideas for Ghost King Danny the most fleshed out being King Phantom showing up at a UN meeting seeking to join their ranks.

- Frustrated and overwhelmed by every day life, Danny runs away and hides deep in the Ghost Zone. Mix of ghost lore plus Danny connecting with the other part of his identity and the ghosts moming the obviously stressed out teen.

- A semi- crack story where, in an attempt to become popular, Danny invites the A Listers (I’m thinking Dash, Paulina, Kwan) over to his house to show off the portal and they see his accident. Cue Danny being adopted by the popular kids who undergo their own complex redemptions arcs as they help him with ghosts (can’t decide if Sam and Tuck exist or not)

- My own version of the classic ‘Jack and Maddie make a truce with Phantom, find they like him and accidentally adopt their own son’

- Phantom shows up to NASA like ‘pretty please I saved the world a few times and I’ve been good also yes I’m pulling the dead teen card let me go into space’ so he gets some training and gets to tag along on the upcoming space mission

- Several ghosts get hit my a malfunctioning Fenton weapon which temporarily traps them in human bodies and Danny needs to remind them how to be alive again and take care of a human body until it wears off.

- Completing my 14 year old self’s lost work of the DD rewrite where Danny blends in with the students who have powers related to the ghost bug and shows off his powers.

- The ghosts perspective on Danny, how they like and respect and ultimately want them to one day be their king.... which they demonstrate by trying to kill him on a daily basis.

- Danny breaking down to Lancer about his identity and the ghosts and Lancer knowing he can’t (and shouldn’t given the potential casualty count) stop Danny instead invents creative, nontraditional ways to help Danny learn/keep his grades up and improve his mental health.

- AU where Danny’s folks are normal, non ghost hunting people. Danny still becomes half ghost (he got caught in a natural portal forming on top of him) but his parents don’t believe in ghosts. So its just Danny trying to tell them showing off his powers and such to get them to believe and they just don’t get it.
