Another late day. Another day filled with meetings that half of which could have been an email. The mundane droning of quarterly outputs and fake promises from co-workers to do better was starting to get boring.
The meeting room filled with a mixture of eagerness and boredom lasted for another 30 minutes, feeling your phone buzz as you already knew what that meant.
You missed pick-up time again…
Luckily, you had help in that department. The deal was always that if you were going to be late coming home Lula would be in charge of pickup.
She would always make sure to text you that she successfully picked up the tiny person that drove you to sit in these boring meetings in the first place.
Liana, your precious baby girl changed your life in so many ways that you would forever be in her debt. Like her birth, the knowledge of her was a surprise to you.
The minute you heard the strong heartbeat on that monitor, you knew the life that you once had was over. She was the priority and you did everything in your power to change your life for the better.
Your previous life was no place for her to grow up. The fear that her father would take her under his wing was something that you feared.
And you feared nothing…
Not until you held all 8 pounds and 9 ounces of pure perfection in your arms. The second those two-toned eyes met yours, there was no turning back to what you used to be. The only fear that you had was one day she would learn who her father really was.
You were a mother and a mother only. Liana Skye was your whole entire world and you dared anyone to come within a foot of her.
She softened you in ways that you didn’t know you could be. Gave you the will to be patient, and compassionate, and whenever she laid eyes on you and that toothy grin came into sight, you were a goner.
Never did you want someone’s approval so bad until her. No one else mattered in the world and you did everything to make sure she was well taken care of.
Vetting the best nannies around, making sure she went to the best school that the city could offer — you were that mom. There wasn’t anything that she couldn’t ask for that you wouldn’t get for her.
Except…
You knew that the day would come when she would ask why she didn’t have a father like the rest of her classmates. To your reply, he was away… always away. Deep down you knew that was a lie.
But there was no way that you were going to crush your 4-year-old’s heart and tell her that she would never see him. You made sure of that.
You left your previous life behind, making sure that there was no lingering trace of you ever existing. It was like your old self never existed and you liked it that way.
Liana could never know who you were before you became her mommy. Her hero. Who you wanted her to know was the woman that you created. A character that you wrote all on your own.
This facade that you played so well was working for you and although you didn’t need to work, you had to keep up the appearances. No one in that city knew just how well off you were.
Thanks to your previous life, you racked in enough money to take care of you, Liana, and the generation after her. It definitely came with a great cost and there was no way that your precious baby would ever know what you had to do to make sure she would be set for life.
The sound of the laptop shutting signaled that the last meeting of the day was over and you were more than ready to drive home, take a hot shower, and snuggle with your whole entire world.
She was the spitting image of you, always amazed you at how you created such a beautiful little girl. Yet as you look into her eyes, you see you and her father combined and it sent a pang in your chest like no other.
You didn’t want to stay in the building any longer than you had to, gathering up your folders and depositing them on your desk as you grabbed your purse and keys to head out of the 128-floor building.
The sun had already begun to set, shades of oranges and purples filled the sky as you walked out of the building in the search for your car that always sat in the same spot every day.
The walk to the garage felt like hours but in reality, were minutes, you couldn’t wait to kiss those chubby cheeks that rose whenever she saw you.
Luck was on your side as you drove down the busy road, noticing the light traffic at that time of day. The universe knew that you needed to see your baby, making sure every traffic light that you met was green as the garden in your backyard.
You make a quick stop at the gas station, half a mile from home to fill up the almost empty tank, shooting Lula a text that you would be home in as little as 3 minutes.
Usually, you would get a fast text back but, not this time. It wasn’t of importance and you were sure that she was probably busy with Liana to answer right away. It didn’t matter to you in the slightest because she was the best at what she did.
You pumped and paid, getting back in the car, eyes focused on the straight road before turning the corner to get to your house. It was a community, one that you felt safe in.
Liana had friends that she had play dates with and you would be the best hostess to a group of kids almost every other weekend. Your little girl was quite the social butterfly, reminding yourself of you when you were her age.
But life had a funny way of changing a child no matter what age they were. Call it puberty or trauma. Each played a significant role in the path you chose before becoming a mother.
The lights outside were lit, smiling as you saw the inside of your house lit up like Christmas. Lula’s car was parked right beside your designated spot as usual.
Nothing was out of place… No reason to be alarmed at all. You take your belongings out of the car, taking two steps at a time to get to your front door. With ease you unlock the door, only when you emerged inside were you met with silence.
Your eyes scan the front room, not a piece of furniture was out of place. Could you have missed something in the communication with Lula? Checking the unread messages on your phone, you see the messages that you missed.
One stating that Liana hadn’t been feeling well and would be more than likely sleep when you got home. That alone caused a slow panic to arise. How didn’t you pay attention to that?
Quickly you toe off your heels, stepping more into the house as you begin to call out for Lula.
You begin to check the living room first, feet padding the wooden floor, “Lu?” Silence.
Turning towards the kitchen, there was something that was off. The smell of chicken noodle soup permeated the air and for the first time in a couple hours, you were famished.
Your stomach grumbled at the aromatic smell, knowing that Lula cooked everything just right. Making it further into the kitchen, relief washed over you as you see Lula sitting in the chair with her back facing.
Blowing out a breath you being to walk towards, “There you are. Is Lili okay?” the question lingering as you get closer. Usually, Lula would have turned around to see you by now but… nothing.
“Lu… You okay?”
It was apparent that as you got closer that something wasn’t right at all. Your eyes dart to every secret compartment, taking another step towards Lula.
Placing a hand on her shoulder, you call out to her again, “Lu?” concern lacing your tongue the minute you became face to face with her.
You shake her unconscious frame one.. Twice, before she slumps over. Panic courses through your nerves and that is when you knew something was entirely wrong.
Without hesitation, you grab at the kitchen drawer, pulling out a custom-made 9mm, not even stopping to see if Lula was breathing.
All you knew was that Liana could be in trouble and god help the person dumb enough to come in here.
Taking two steps at a time again, you wasted no time getting to her decorated door, one that she was proud to decorate herself. Except it was slightly cracked and her night light shone through.
Pushing open the door, you’re met with an image that would have warmed you in normal circumstances. In a perfect life, this was what you wanted.
But your life was less than perfect.
The arms wrapped around your daughter shouldn’t even be near her. He shouldn’t even be here. For the first time in — ever, fear as cold as ice ran through your veins.
“Hi cupcake,” his whispered tone reached over to you, your eyes looking over at Liana as she didn’t stir one bit.
The hand holding your weapon trembled, anger and fear lacing your nerves, “Whatever you want… let’s deal with it,” your breath rising and becoming deeper, keeping your eyes on him, “But not in front of her… not in front my baby”
“You mean our baby sweetie,” he smirks at your sharp intake of breath, chuckling softly as he keeps his voice low, “Didn’t think I would find out? It took me a while and well… You’re good.”
If it was one person you could never hide from… It was Lloyd Hansen. He knew your next move before you did. You knew his next move before he did.
But this… This move you didn’t think he would make so soon.
“Lloyd… Let her go… now”
“Not a chance sweet cheeks. You thought you could keep her from me?”
“Just let her go!” you spat between clenched teeth, almost raising your weapon. Lloyd had your world in his hands and you had no idea what he was going to do next.
Call it luck again or the universe. Lloyd looked down at a sleeping Liana, anger and conflict racing through his own veins. Those ocean green eyes looked at you, a frown on his face as he slowly laid Liana back down, making sure to cover her back up.
Just as carefully as he tucked her in, he carefully rose from her bed, making it over to you, “Lead the way cupcake, we have a lot to discuss…”

Been trying trying to watch Found on Peacock.
My only real feelings are that Mark Paul Gosselaar is giving the performance of a lifetime.
Tumblr media
The show itself ? I see a lot of people saying the show is good. For me it's not ? I think all of the acting except for MPG and the actress who plays young Gabrielle, to be cringeworthy.
I honestly walk out of the room unless "Sir" is onscreen. I don't find the missing persons cases to be interesting. But then, there's a reason I've never seen one single episode of any version of any CSI series, or any show like it. The characters are all so boring.
Make no mistake, MPG is the only reason to watch this show. "Sir"/Hugh is not "good", but he is fascinating to watch.
If you like a dark series (child kidnap victim kidnaps her kidnapper when they are middle aged adults, and keeps him prisoner in her basement) check it out.
I can't see it lasting beyond a second season though, and it probably shouldn't ? But yeah definitely watch for MPG (amazing) and the young Gabrielle actress.

Flashback
You stare at the detailed brief, scanning over it twice… three times. The mission seemed like an easy feat, one that you felt needed no help on. But you were the newbie, a fresh face is what the director described.
Graduating at the top of your class, excelling is every single test, you were deemed overly qualified for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Your skills were one to envy, with perfect scores on all targets, there was no better shooter than you. Even on your worst day, the best agent couldn’t even get close to you.
It took you a while to be seen by someone who actually respected your qualifications. But it was work unlike you had ever seen.
It didn’t matter the target that you were assigned. If it had a pulse, it wouldn’t be once    Le silencieux came in and did what needed to be done.
News of your abilities circled around until An Agency decided to take you in. Promising you bigger targets with bigger pay. You would kill anyone. Almost.
Children were always off limits…
Something that the agency respected. Seeming as though they had other contractors that would do that side of the dirty work.
You didn’t need anybody to help you. Which was why as you look at the brief one more time, there was a point of contact. A supervisor that would be accompanying you on said mission.
Lloyd Hansen was a household name and when the agency needed effective work, he was the guy to call. That was up until you came along and he got wind of your talents.
If it wasn’t your job in Berlin that alerted him of your prowess, it was definitely your last job or taking out one of the top-paid tycoons on the West Coast of America.
Said to be the most untouchable mogul in the world, you decided to prove that theory otherwise. To the media, the cause of the death was natural causes.
But Lloyd knew better. He looked over the autopsy reports over and over. You left everything pristine and even he would roll his eyes at having to do extra work.
It didn’t take him much asking to be put to watch over you. With a record like yours, you didn’t need a babysitter.
He just wanted to have a front-row seat to just how good you were….
Present Day
Your fingers hit the numbers on the keypad quicker than you’ve ever moved, hearing the access notification. With no time to waste, you motion for Lloyd to enter, smelling the same scent that you knew so well.
As the door closes by your hand alone, silence fills the room. The tension was as loud as ever and you wanted nothing more than to quell the impending elephant in the room.
“Nice office ya got here munchkin,” Lloyd’s voice comes into play as she looks around the modern study.
Professional and well organized to the naked eye and you wanted to keep it that way.
Pleasantries weren’t something that you really had time for. The reason for your disappearance stood before you, that smug smirk on his face as he set his eyes on you.
It was maddening the way one look could annoy all the fibers in your being. He was the only one that could do that.
And nothing had changed from then to now.
Steel is held to your waist, not letting your finger slip from the trigger as you look over at Lloyd, the annoyance already rolling off you.
“You’re not here to talk interior decorating and I don’t have time to talk nice,” you say curtly, your feet planted in the same spot, “Now… What do you want?”
“Isn’t it obvious?”
“Can never tell with you Lloyd. You’re not very good at context clues. Cut the shit.”
Lloyd stares into you, a soft smirk weighing on his lips as he pulls his gun from the holster, automatically making you draw yours.
“Easy there sharp shooter… I come in peace for the moment,” a grin spreading across his face as she sits on the edge of your desk.
You don’t trust him and he knows that by the way your gun is still pointing at him between the eyes.
He sits there on the desk, watching you… studying you even, looking at the slight changes of your compared to years ago.
Still as beautiful as he remembered but more… scared.
Like you finally had something or someone to lose…
If it was one thing you knew: Lloyd Hansen Never puts his gun down. For once, you decided to trust him. Whatever he wanted needed to be said now. No telling when exactly Lili would wake up.
With reluctance, you place your guns in their holsters, making sure you had easy access in case he had any ideas.
“Why are you here?”
“Colibri…”
“Don’t,” you say sharply, your voice not faltering, “You don’t get to call me that…”
A frown sets on his lips, the tick in his jaw evident as he clenches his fist, “You left… without a word. Care to explain that?”
You smirk, deciding to play him at his own game, “Isn’t it obvious?”
“Cute… real cute cupcake,” the deep chuckle coming from his throat, his eyes boring into yours, “You know… I hate broken families,” He starts off, raising from his makeshift seat and walking over to you.
His height towered over you but it didn’t matter. You were the only woman to ever to bring Lloyd Hansen to his knees. A feat that even the most notorious assassin couldn’t even do.
You never budged as he stalked closer, his cologne just barely kissing the insides of your nostrils.
Still bold with a hint of sweetness, just like the scent you got for him, courtesy of your many stays in France.
Lloyd bends just a little to meet your eye level, shamelessly breathing you in as he lets out a low groan, “Still as delicious as I remember… I would hate to have to slowly get my answer from you ma douce and you know I can take my time very well. Start talking.”
If an answer was all he wanted, then that’s what you would give. You had no problem hurting his feelings when he had his hands on Lili. That was his first and only strike.
You let out a steady breath, keeping eye contact with him as you began to speak, “It’s not rocket science. I got pregnant and knew the second that it was real that my old life was done. There was no way that I was going to bring a baby into this mess. She didn’t deserve to have an unhinged father like you,”
Lloyd stayed quiet, waiting for your next words. He knew you were far from finished.
“And I was right… Here you come and kill her nanny, break into her room, and demand answers. Dad of the freaking year.”
“Only two of those are right ma douce..”
He answers while holding up two fingers, his voice void of emotion. The desk becomes his seat again as she swings his leg over the front, staring at you once more.
“I would never kill our daughter’s nanny. She does need looking over after all. Since you think you know what kind of father I am, you would have known that.”
Your eyes begin to soften a bit, bringing fixing them back to how they were, “Never thought I’d see the day that you would have a moral compass. I’m touched,” you say flatly.
“I still don’t Colibri but, I’ll make an exception this time.”
A slow clap fills the room as you begin to mock him, “I should be honored huh? At least you care a little. I’ll give you that much. She’s still my daughter. The only thing you did was deposit a weak sample.”
“My ‘samples’ were what you used to crave at one point in time. You can play coy all you want but we both know the truth ma douce…”
No matter how wrong you wanted him to be, Lloyd was once all you cared about. All you yearned for. You knew deep down he could never love.
You blink away for a second, setting your sights back on him, “You’re right, there was a strong one out of the bunch. Ya did some good in that retrospect.”
“What can I say ma douce, I never disappoint…”
“And yet you’re still here… I told you what you wanted to know. You got what you wanted,” you knew this wasn’t going to be easy.
Lloyd was never easy…
He gives you a knowing look, the tick in his jaw back again as he grew more annoyed.
You needed him out of your house and far away from Liana… She didn’t need him and neither did you.
Without a second thought, you walk around him and sit in your rightful seat, blowing out a slow breath.
“I know you, Lloyd. The minute she would have been of age. You would have taken her and made her into your image. I’ve seen it before…”
There was no proof that Lloyd would have taken Lili down the same road as your father did. But, you weren’t going to take any chances.
You were made into a weapon far before you were even a teenager. Target practice, day in and day out, combat practice when you turned eight.
To say you had a sliver of a childhood would have been a lie. You never even wanted children for that sole purpose alone.
But your surprise child softened you the minute you heard her heart beating.
Loud snapping took you from your thoughts, Lloyd’s face almost touching yours.
“Whatever daddy issues you may have has nothing to do with me. You took time away from me and I’m ready to collect on it.”
“You won’t go near her again”
“Watch me.”
“We both know how this will end, Lloyd. Do you really want to do this?”
Lloyd leans up from you, standing up from the desk, his lips pulled in a thin line, “I’ll give you two options sweets. The easy way or the hard way.”
A chuckle erupts from your lips, stopping just as fast as it started.
“You know I love the hard way Lloyd and if that means putting a bullet through your fucking head, then I will.”
A soft knock interrupts you both as you stand up, only for your face to meet the desk hard as Lloyd crossed over to slam you down.
The soft knocking continues as you begin to struggle, feel the tight grip Lloyd has on your arm.
“Mommy?” a soft muffled voice comes from behind the door, causing your fight reaction to rise. But your strength is no match for the pressure Lloyd has on you.
Cold steel meets your temple, Lloyd’s breath, coasting over your ear, “As I said before… I hate broken families. But I’ll splatter your brains on this desk and make our daughter half an orphan,” you struggle against his hold as he slams you down again, the knocking continuing to ensue.
“Just a minute baby! Mommy’s coming,” your voice shakes, hot tears prickling the corners of your eyes.
The knocking stops, knowing that she’s waiting, you lift your head up a bit to listen to the man keeping you from your baby.
You relax a little eliciting a content sight from Lloyd, “That’s good… compliance is all I asked for. Now, you take your ass to that door so I can meet my daughter. You’ve wasted enough of my time so make it quick,” he spat, releasing you from his hold as you stood up and walk to the door.
As you turn the knob, the fear that you had the day Liana was born came back to you. All the running that you did still wasn’t enough. It was now or never and weren’t going to leave Lili in the hands of just Lloyd.
The door opens and her large stuffed rabbit meets your eyesight before she does. Her eyes are still low, sleep still apparent in her.
“You okay sweetie?” bending down to check the warmth of her forehead, “Still not feeling good?”
Lili shakes her head, hugging her rabbit as she looks behind you, “Mommy? Who’s that?”
The question that you never wanted to answer. But it was staring you right in the face and the last thing that you wanted to do was to lie to her.
The words were lost on your tongue as you know that this choice could make or break the only person in the world that truly loved you.
Your creation wanted answers and you wouldn’t make her wait and let her lose more sleep.
But it wasn’t you that answered the question. You didn’t even know that Lloyd was behind you until you heard a tone that was only ever meant for you.
Softness…
“Hi there Princess Liana… I think it’s time we formally met…”

Gortash designs and builds mechanisms so I imagine he has to be able to sketch fairly decently in order to sketch his projects and designs. And I'm imagining a pile of charcoal sketches of Durge, done over their entire acquaintance, starting out with sketches of them in battle and then slowly becoming more detailed and intimate and as they do, the titles changing from things like "The Bhaalspawn" and "Bhaal's Chosen at Their Bloody Work" to "The Chosen in Contemplation" and finally just Durge's name
