A/n: You are part of the Kocho family in this btw:) And since this is an au, Kanae is alive. Also you are 16 and Tanjiro is 17 in this!:)

Today is the day. The day you get to meet the one that you’re meant to marry. Tanjiro Kamado. You looked at yourself in the full length mirror on your wall. Your maid, Aoi Kanzaki, held your shoulders and the 2 of you smiled at your reflection. “You look beautiful, princess! The prince is a very lucky man.” Aoi said, eyes sparkling from excitement. “It’s all thanks to you, Aoi! I’m very grateful for all your help.” You said and hugged her. She hugged you back. “I know you must be nervous to meet his highness. I’ve heard that he’s kind to everyone that he meets and he’s very humble. He reminds me a lot of you, your highness!” She said as the 2 of you walked down the long corridor.

Kiyo pranced up the stairs and grabbed your hand. “The prince is here to meet you, princess!” The young girl said, excitedly. You took in a sharp breath of excitement and nodded. “I’m ready.” You said and Kiyo walked back down the stairs. “Here comes Princess (Y/N)!” Kiyo, Sumi, and Naho all said, simultaneously. Tanjiro was completely unprepared for the moment that he would get to see you for the first time in person. You reached the bottom of the stairs and Tanjiro’s eyes sparkled at the sight of you. You walked up to him, a light blush grazing your cheeks. The 2 of you bowed to each other. “Hello, your highness. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.” You said with a smile and curtsied. “Please, call me Tanjiro, and the pleasure is all mine princess.” He said then kissed your hand. You blushed and smiled up at him. “You can just call me (Y/N) then, Tanjiro.”

Kanae, Kanao, and Shinobu smiled as they watched you and Tanjiro continue to get to know each other. “I think this is the happiest I’ve ever seen (Y/N).” Kanae said and Shinobu agreed.

You giggled at a comment that Tanjiro had made about one of his friends, Prince Zenitsu Agatsuma. “Is he really like that? He sure is persistent.” You said through your giggles and Tanjiro nodded with a small smile. “I’m definitely waiting awhile before I introduce him to you. Zenitsu makes a lot of girls uncomfortable, it makes me really mad. He shouldn’t be harassing girls, that’s not going to make them want to marry him.” He said with slight anger in his voice. “I can’t believe he doesn’t stop even if a girl is already engaged or already married.” You said, a slightly nervous tinge lacing your voice. Tanjiro could tell that you were a bit nervous because of what he said about Zenitsu. “Don’t worry, I won’t let him lay a finger on you.” He said and grabbed your hand, blushing slightly. Your face went red and you smiled softly at the burgundy haired prince.

~A few months later~

You and Tanjiro have gotten really close since you met. The 2 of you realized that you were definitely in love with each other. He was the first to say that he loves you. “Hey, (Y/N), I need to tell you something in private.” He said and smiled, carefully grabbing your hand and leading you out to the courtyard. He stopped under the largest and most beautiful sakura tree. He turned to face you, a light blush dusting his cheeks. “(Y/N), I love you.” He said, a loving smile gracing his lips. Your eyes widened and you blushed. Your expression softened and you kissed him softly, gently caressing his cheek. You pulled away to see Tanjiro’s blushing face. “I love you too, Tanjiro.”
