A Silent Voice its an anime movie based on a manga of the same name that, while many might look it like a romance movie, its mostly about redemption, overcoming trauma and social anxiety, facing and living with your past, and the true meaning of friendship.

I was impressed with how they handled the trauma and agnst parts to the point that they are relatable and make the characters feel human and realistic especially from the trauma victim's point, like how Shoya looked at everyone with an X on their faces. And i found the sign language interesting, even if its the japanese sign language.

The hardest parts for me to watch were the bullying scenes, who am i kidding no one likes to see a child go through that, even in movies. And some kids can be that cruel in real life too, and i know because i have an aunt and uncle who were teachers and were relieved when they retired since let me tell you their students were the hardest to handle, one even stabed my aunt in the hand with a pencil.

And it also bothers me that the teacher didnt even did something to stop the bullying almost as if he didnt notice or wasnt part of his job, it even reminded me of the middle school teacher of Izuku Midoriya from MHA, only that there it was a bit worse.

The thing that hooked me in my mind the most was the friendship part of the film. Especially the former friendship between Shoya Ishida, Kazuki Shimada, and Keisuke Hirose. These three were the balanced trio: the Daredevil, The Carefree guy, and the Comic Relief. And were the main bullies of Shoko Nishimiya. But then things took a twist when Shoko's bullying was brought up by the teacher and the people who Ishida thought of as his best friends put the blame on him in order to save themselves from punishment due to apathy, cowardice and fear, and acted as if they were never his friends to the point that they even bullied him and turned him into a complete outcast and loner, with Kazuki being his main bully, in fact he makes the most appearances than Hirose. This character hooked me the most, who knew a star student and carefree guy could turn out to be so cold, cruel and blind to his faults, like in his mind he didnt do anything wrong. Talk about trials and bad situations showing someone's true colors. From my pov, the bullying he and Hirose put Ishida through was even worse than the one Shoko went through. And even in Middle School he still made his life difficult by telling everyone of his bullying and left him with absolutely no friends at all, making him drown even more in his trauma, loneliness, and guilt over his past actions and their consequences.

It also made him wonder what friendship even was because he didnt know what that was anymore after he lost all hope of reconnecting with his old friends. He explained that he only understood them because they always did what he thought they would and wanted them to do, but after that and his changed thoughts and feelings he doenst even understand them anymore, especially after learning from Naoka that they rescued him from the river but only because it was the right thing to do rather than wanting to make up with him, especially because they didnt seem to change after that and even told Naoka to not tell Ishida and mind her own business.

Naoka is what many would say "the love rival" in this film due to her one sided love for Ishida and jealousy towards Shoko and seeing her as a threat to her feelings for him, even putting the blame of what happened to him on her and that if she had never rattled them out or even went to their school Ishida wouldnt have gone through that hell and lost his friends. They called it one sided because of her feelings towards him but without considering his feelings and choices and doing stuff more out of her own benefit and self guilt for what she did in Elementary school. Especially her desire for things to being back to what they were before, mostly Ishida's old friendships due to her (failed) attempts to try to make them meet up and reconciliate.

Honestly i admire her hope for those three making amends, but just like Ishida learned to face and be at peace with his past, she needs to learn and accept that things will never be like they were before and that some relationships cant easily or never be mended by "locking two people in a room". She cant rush or force those three to be friends again by setting encounters between them, this is a step they need to take on their own choice and will, and if they are even willing to make amends and are willing to change or not, just like she "forced" herself to change and made a peace truce with Shoko. And also follow the "advice" Shimada gave her to "mind her own business" because in a way their issues and broken relationship aren't something she should meddle with even if she only wants help, and he told her the same when he told her to keep quiet about them saving Ishida from the river so neither she got her (false) hopes too high or Ishida getting the wrong idea. Some people and things just never change.

While the films ends in the Cultural Festival and doesnt include the film arc, the manga shows what happened after that and ends in chapter 62 at the time for the Coming of Age Ceremony which its like a school reunion convention, and ends just as Ishida and Nishimiya open the door to their elementary school reunion ready to face their painful past , which may includ etheir old classmates and possibly teachers, together as equals. We dont know how that might had turned out, fans can only imagine what could had happened, the most probable, if the classmates had matured or moved on/ forgotten the past or not, that everyone could have stared at them for a moment in a bit of shock before minding their own business with their friends and family and maybe get a few stares or whispers or just being ignored. We dont know if he encountered or interacted with Kazuki( if he managed to come from studying in France and Ishida even asked for his email t see if he would come so he could talk to him) or Hirose, whom we saw a glimpse of him entering the room with his wife and child and whom we dont know much about due to his few appearances in the story (honestly i think he has more chances of having matured and changed than Kazuki and who knows if the river accident did affected him somehow) or if they are even worthy of his forgiveness, but even if he manages to confront, talk, and make peace with them or not its ok, because he gained even much more true friends than the ones he lost and wont have to worry of confronting his past and the challenges ahead by himself and living a lonely life ever again. And after a long timw since elementary school, he finally found peace, happiness, and love.

Most unexpected fic

This is a tie between two Kamen Rider fics:

Endless Futures Ahead because it’s a Gou/Chase fic and I started writing this (in 2021 actually but whatever) before I’d even seen a full Kamen Rider series. I knew this show was going to suck me in if I ever started watching it (and it did), but I did not think I would write 20k+ words about characters in a show I had only seen a handful of episodes about

Across the River of Stars. I read the Blade novel, sat on it for like a week, particularly the ending where Kenzaki and Hajime agree to meet one night a year (just like the cowherd and weaver of myth, i thought!), and then out of nowhere I wrote 2k words at work about them meeting once a year in modern times. I started it about exactly a month ago and posted it today, so I think this is also the fic I’ve finished the quickest this year (that or my other Blade fic, idk how long that one took to write)

The next one I will post is a toss up between:

-the as of yet unnamed sequel to my steel samurai fic. this is 50% Klavier during aa4 having the Worst Year of His Life and 50% Klavier being heart eyes over Apollo, as seen through his unofficial social media (right now about 5k long, i’ve gotten past aa4-4 and the immediate aftermath, i just need to figure out where i want this to end, go over it a couple times, and then do all the formatting)

-The Future Where All Sorrows End (title subject to change) my Kamen Rider Blade soul nemesis au where Kenzaki and Hajime know that they are fated to be each other’s undoing from the moment they meet (right now somewhere in the 50-60k range. i need to finish the last scene, decide if i want to add a post-canon scene where Kenzaki hangs out with Kotaro and Hirose, and then do a bunch of editing but a lot of that i’ll do after i start posting chapters)

The next fic I plan to start writing:

Honestly probably a Kamen Rider W fic. I’m not entirely sure where I’m going with this premise, but I’ve had the rough idea in my head for 6ish months now and watching Fuuto PI + rewatching W with my brother is giving me feels. The basic premise is that instead of Gaia memories, it’s ghosts. Akiko shows up at the PI agency one day and is like “guys your business model sucks, we’re making a ghost investigating youtube channel as well as being private investigators”. Philip is the camera man never on screen but often making snarky comments from the background. The fic alternates between Wakana’s pov who is like ‘what is up with these youtubers that keep referencing my radio show’ and Philip who is like ‘i’m weirdly obsessed with this radio host but i don’t think it’s in a romantic way’. And then they start talking like in canon but no one dies and everything ends happily :) including for Kirihiko

夏の名残と秋の気配が入り混じった広瀬川を、のんびり歩きました。ススキが主役になる時期も、もう間もなくかもしれません。

『 Autumn Reunion 』

On a sunny weekend, I went for a walk to the Hirose River for the first time in a while. The weather is nice with half sleeves ♪ I met Po-chan, a popular person from the Hirose River, again. The appearance of eating the leaves deliciously is very cute. I took a leisurely walk along the Hirose River, which is a mixture of the remnants of summer and the signs of autumn. The time when Japanese pampas grass will play a leading role may be soon.

Being a mafioso makes him a busy man but he’ll make time for you! He’ll try to see you often and when he can’t he’ll be sure to return with a flower in his hand to offer you

Be prepared for him to kiss your hand often. He enjoys your arms being hooked around another too.

He is also a simp for you. Very much so, you have him wrapped around your finger without knowing it

He’ll always want comfort from you. He wants cuddles and your affection

Narancia loves all your affection to the point where he’s constantly asking or administering it. He’ll do everything in his power for all forms of affection

During stand battles Narancia most definitely shows off for you. Him and Aerosmith. They want to impress you!

If you cheer on Narancia during stand battles he will be ecstatic and do his best. He’s hyper focused so he can win. Motivation is at it’s highest. Even the rest of the gang will be floored by how motivated you made him.

This festive image shows pleasure boats on the Sumida River, with Ryogoku Bridge in the center. Elegant restaurants (north of the bridge) traditionally co-sponsored the major fireworks displays at the site, together with the boathouses. The large boat in the center is the "palace-boat," the only one of its kind to appear in this series. These grand pleasure craft were up to fifty feet in length and held as many as twenty "tatami" mats; they were hired out for parties by rich merchants. Next in size and most numerous here are the "roof boats;" the smallest are the uncovered "chokibune." Finally, there are the four boats which wandered among the pleasure boats to sell food and drink. Until 1659, all fireworks used in Japan were imported from China, but then an enterprising youth (Yabei) came to Edo and began to make his own. In 1733 he was commissioned by the shogun Yoshimune to mount a special fireworks display at the Ryogoku Bridge as a purification rite to dispel the evil spirits of the plague and famine then sweeping Japan (the first Kawabiriki- "opening river" ceremony). Only since the Meiji period have summer fireworks been reduced to a single spectacular display at the time of Kawabiriki. “He- llo!”

You have to hold in a giggle when Ushijima greets you. It’s the summer where you’re both thirteen when his voice begins to crack as he talks. He’s more quiet than usual, and understandably so. You struggle to hide your laughs with a wriggly grin on your face, pressing your lips together into a straight line.

Summer assignments change from daily journals to practice worksheets and group projects. You’re not able to spend as much time as you used to with Ushijima, burying yourself in piles of papers and eraser dust.

“Wakatoshi, do you prefer 0.5mm or 0.7mm pencil lead?” you ask one day.

He looks at you, then back down at the Kurutoga pencil in his hand.

“0.3mm,” he replies.

You scrunch your face up in confusion and Ushijima laughs.

You return to school occasionally to attend club activities. You wish you could bring Ushijima along — show him where the bathrooms are, run your finger over the mark you and your friends carved into a tree behind the school field, point out your favourite stall in the canteen.

When Ushijima asks you if you want to go play in the Hirose river, you’re more than eager to drop your assignments and grab a bottle of sunscreen along the way to protect yourself against the sun.

You toss your sandals by the bank and dip your toes in at first. A shiver runs through your body. The water is clear and cool, lapping at your hips as you move towards the deeper end of the river. Ushijima lays his socks and sneakers out neatly on some dry gravel before joining you. He keeps his arms precariously above the glassy water, taking small steps over the slick stones that line the river bed.

“Wakatoshi!” you cry out, sweeping an arc of water that rains down on Ushijima. “Watch this!”

A rainbow forms in the air as he raises his hands to block his face from your attack. His defence is useless, however, as his hair and shirt become damp.

“That was underhanded,” he complains.

Ushijima is quick to use his hands and arms to fling water at you. Your laughter fills the air and the both of you soon become soaked from playing in the river. The summer heat seems to be nonexistent as you float on your back, cracking open ice cold sodas that you had left in the water earlier to be cooled.

“Here,” you tell Ushijima. “Take this one. You prefer the apple flavour, right?”

He nods, smiling as he receives the soda from you.

Obaa-san had even given you some slices of watermelon kept in a Tupperware for safekeeping. The sweet juice runs down the corners of your mouth, crisp and fresh against your tongue.

“We should go back soon,” Ushijima says, when his shirt begins to dry out and stick to his skin.

You’re quick to clamber out of the river. Your toes dig into the soil and grass by the banks, giving you enough grip to leave Ushijima in the middle of the running water. He wades through it over to you.

Hot wind licks at your cheeks and the cries of cicadas echo your gasps for air, while sparrows chirp in the branches of swaying zelkova trees. Ushijima’s eyes never leave your face. Water laps at his waist as he sticks his hand out towards you.

“Pull me up,” he says.

The sun scorches his back. Its light reflects off of the water’s glimmering surface and you have to squint your eyes to see somewhat clearly. You extend your hand towards him, and he wraps his hand around your forearm. You do the same. His touch feels warmer than sunlight itself.

“Hold on, I- Ah!”

You dig into your heels in an attempt to counter the force that Ushijima exerts as he pulls himself up. In a split second, he tugs you back into the water with him.

Cold water meets your face as bubbles escape from your nose and mouth. You squeeze your eyes shut on reflex. The noise around you descends into a pit of gurgling and the rushing of the river that overwhelms everything else, drowning out even your shout of surprise.

The sparkling water makes you look ethereal. You dare to crack your eyes open and find Ushijima’s eyes trained on you. His hands ghost your sides, having tried to grab you before you fell earlier. It’s as if the both of you are frozen in time.

Your feet find the river bed. You plant them firmly and push yourself above water, wheezing for air. Hair sticks to your forehead, water sluicing down your body and slipping back to its home silently. Ushijima shakes his hair dry of water and unintentionally gives you a second shower.

“Sorry. I shouldn’t have pulled so hard.”

“It’s okay.”

You use your hands to push the water and wet hair out of your face, doing your best to dry it as much as you possibly can. Ushijima looks as if he had just swallowed a stone. You turn your back to him and pull yourself out of the river once more, trying to ignore the look he was giving you just moments earlier.

Bits of gravel and soil rub against your toes uncomfortably as you hobble back home, and blisters adorn your feet for days after.

Hirose River and Fireworks

Pairing: Oikawa x fem reader

Genre : Fluff, rom

A/N: I kinda liked how it turned out so please enjoy. Let me know if you have any constructive criticism in mind.

The golden light flooded the halls of the school as you and your friends departed, finally done with the cleaning duty of the club. The school was deserted due to the summer vacation prolonged up to the end of August. You walked around the hallways towards the exit. The large building of the gymnasium was left open ajar. You made a quick mental calculation on what day today is and deduced that Oikawa would still be there. You strolled down to the entrance of the Gym and see the boisterous atmosphere within.

Balls levitating with each smack and practice was on full mode. But you couldn’t see the captain anywhere.

“Looking for someone, Y/N- chan?” the drawling , teasing voice reached your ear and you turn right to see the looming figure of the 6 feet setter. You rolled your eye

“No, Y/N-chan ,you aren’t peeking into boys gymnasium for stealing water bottles, are you?” He said that in his sweet saccharine laced voice that was dripping sarcasm at each syllable.

Blush crept on your face as he didn’t say anything wrong, but lets face it. You would prefer to bungee jump without a cord than accept this on his face.

“Shut it, Tooru, I came here to remind your forgetful backside that you are leaving early today. If you want to” You said this at his face but added the last line with a streak of hesitation. Knowing his passion for this sport, it almost seemed guilty to you.

“So you did come for me, Y/N-chan? How sweet” He said jokingly causing you to turn around and leave.

He almost immediately caught up and said that,

“Hey, I remember that, Y/N. Its equally special to me” he said in a almost serious voice. He might be the world’s biggest tease who gets a smacking for it from you. But he is equally that observant to know how much you were looking forward to this date. His sharp eyes caught the apprehension in your face when you asked indirectly whether this date was still on or not. And being the dutiful boyfriend he is, he couldn’t help but reassure your beautiful self.

Believe it or not, Oikawa Tooru has something of equal importance as Volleyball. Also he has been looking forward to this date with equal anticipation as you did, so obvious win-win situation for you both.

“Oh that’s great, Tooru, just don’t break your leg before that please” you said it, excitement lightening up your face as you gave a big grin. Tooru almost did a backflip because of that. How much he adores that beautiful smile of yours and how genuine it looks resting in your structured face. The late afternoon sun radiated the golden light on your face making it more beautiful than it is.

“Don’t you have practice, Tooru?” you said mischievously, obvious of the fact that he has been staring at your face. He looked away and looked back again to counter attack.

“Can’t...you look too beautiful like this. Wear a kimono if you like.” he winked at you before drifting back to practice.

You can’t lie about the fact that his words definitely raised the temperature of your cheeks. Okay the evening was definitely something to look forward to.

Evening rolled in with enthusiasm spreading around the neighbourhood about the festival. Your family already seeing this countless time decided to stay back. You, on the other hand, stood in front of the mirror , scrutinising yourself as your kimono draped your body. The floral print definitely was endearing, even to your eyes. You decided to let your hair fall and brushed it through, making it look elegant. A little makeup won’t hurt but at the end , you decided your light look with just mascara is fine. Looks beautiful, as a matter of fact. You were kinda nervous about being this casual in a date. The clock hit 6:30 and you stepped outside your house. There were light emanating from the streets as street lanterns glowed. Underneath it stood the tall setter, wearing a blue-greenish striped kimono. His chocolate brown hair swept haphazardly and his eyes glinted in the glowy backdrop. You smiled at him as you trotted towards him.

His eyes fell on your attire and his lips curled displaying a grin. You looked a bit apprehensive and frowned a little seeing his flashy grin.

“Why are you grinning like that for?” You said raising an eyebrow. He widened his eyes and smiled even more.

“I said to look beautiful, Y/N...not ethereal. I am supposed to focus on fireworks as well” He said, ending his sentence with a smug face, as if he acquired something really important.

You really don’t know whether to snort or coo at his compliment. It was too cute to tease back

“Just, what goes on inside your head, Tooru ?” You laughed. He joined in with you as you both laughed , standing at the alleyway of your house. Children from the neighbouring houses sprinted across towards the same destination. The Sendai bridge to see the fireworks by the Hirose river. Apparently, they would start at 8:00 pm. You wondered about this early timing that Oikawa had set up.

Meanwhile, as you dwelled on your thoughts, he looked at you carefully. Oikawa tooru hadn’t lied before. You really looked ethereal. The floral kimono looked perfect on you. The way your hair fell over your shoulder, curtaining your face elegantly. You had chosen to wear a thin necklace that didn’t went unnoticed by his eyes. How can you look so perfect while being so casual and simple? He wonders. Your genuine personality seems to cover all of you and your aura speaks confidence, even when you feel hesitant yourself. Another person in his life to keep him grounded, and to listen to his passion. Heck, even support it through and through. He sighs a breath of relief on finding you and holding you close.

His trance is broken down as you place your hand on top of his. Another thing about you he loves, the way you make the first move always. He smirks and receives one in return from yours. He laces his fingers with yours and you both walk together.

“So, the fireworks aren’t supposed to start before 8 or have they changed their time? you asked him, pondering yourself.

“No, they will start at 8 but we aren’t going on the bridge now. There’s a small fair at the park. Let me take you on a tour there, Your Highness” he says with a bow.

“Tooru. Stop!!” you said, holding your laughter. He chuckles in return and you both talk your way through the little journey.

“Did you know, Y/N-chan? If you hear a crow’s caw in evening, something bad will happen?“ He mindlessly babbles.

“SAY NO MORE, TOORU. I know why do you say this and I feel this is the only superstition you believe in as well” you snigger at his words. He narrowed his eyes.

“Please, Y/N chan. Don’t antagonize my deep fears.” he huffs while throwing his hands dramatically.

“I really don’t know how others put up with you, Tooru” you said.

“Just the way you do, dear Y/N.” he closes his eyes at this brilliant stroke of intelligence. You shake your head and reply,

“Yeah, I guess so. Its not that bad, honestly” smiling as you said that.

“Oh really now?” he notoriously looked at you.

The road was almost deserted as the lot had already moved to their destination. He looked right and left before leaning down to place his lips on yours. You hands automatically moved to his soft brown hair as you ran your fingers through it and tug at his locks. He moves against you a little sloppily at this action. His hands finding the back of your neck and gripping it to deepen he kiss. You breath while you are progressing the kiss causing him to let out a groan. You hands roamed on his shoulders to his back. He presses his forehead against yours and pulls away, letting out a breath. You hastily connect again and continue this ministration for a while. Who is he to complain?

Soon after, you guys reached the park. Oikawa neatly tucking himself and helping you fix your hair which he so delightedly messed up. If he was smiling back then, then I don't know what's plastered on his face at this moment. He could just hop from the ground and levitate to cloud 9 just like that. His giddiness was contagious, your face had a gleeful expression and cheeks flushed red.

The park was noisy and had a moderate crowd to walk through. The stalls were beautifully presented and each souvenir was tempting to be bought. There were little corner for games and food. The hype was enjoyable and really upto your and Oikawas energy.

You guys spent time playing Seonbonbiki and Kingyo Sukui ( goldfish scooping) and earning two goldfish each. His enthusiasm with other children and when the kids mocked him for not being able to pick up a fish was entertaining. Your booming laughter made the jokes of the kids bearable and even funny to him. HEY, he got to see your pretty smile. Time rolled by happily with you guys goofing around and clicking pictures until it was almost 8 when Oikawa tugged your hands to bring you out of the park.

You guys went to the edge of the bridge, it was beautifully decorated due to the special occasion. The trees had little paper confetti hanging around ,making it look colourful. Lanterns all over lit the place into a radiant spot. The lake could be seen from where you and Tooru stood. Streetlamps mirrored the lights onto the dark lake and hundreds of floating lanterns buoyant on the surface. It reflected multiple colours and was truly was a sight for the eyes. You never felt so good until now with all the happiness in the air. Oikawa stole a glance at you and his heart swelled. The fact that he had chosen this day for a date due to this festival and you liking it was something he would definitely take pride in. Oikawa Tooru may not show it but his little insecurity screams every time he does something. This date not being an exception. And you being content at this, his insecurity may go somewhere else now.

On the other hand, you being ecstatic but not surprised at his move. If anyone knows how to be the support of someone like Tooru, its you. The way he step things up is no surprise for you. His passionate self never misses a thing and this is probably the reason why you’re head over heels over the boy next to you. You looked at him in a glance. His chocolate brown eyes reflected all the lights around and his face looked more lit up. His handsome features being more striking and you can’t help but steal glances at him for being this pretty wearing a kimono.

Both of your personal thoughts come to a stop as the first firework sparkles in the sky, soon following suit of the first one , the sky is filled with gleaming fireworks. Illuminating both of your faces, sometimes in golden colour, sometimes in red, or even in different colours all together. There was no stopping. Both of look in awe at the dark Sendai sky which is filled with various kinds of illuminations. People around you exclaiming with excitement.

You guys happily watch it for a few while when Oikawa pulled you from the crowd and took you beneath the bridge on a secluded grassy ground. There were barely any people here and Oikawa whispered,

“Its better to see with just you and me, pretty”

You crinkled your eyes as you smiled at him and held hands together, watching the beautiful show of light above. You took out your phone and clicked pictures and videos. Squealing with exhilaration whenever the fireworks were different or more sparkly. One hand not leaving the hands of the setter.

Oikawa may enjoy the show but he had more enjoyment in him, watching you being excited. It was dark beneath, only lightening up with the fireworks on the night sky overhead. He felt oddly comforted at your happiness. Tightening the hold he has in your fingers, he whispers in awe,

“You look so beautiful like this, gosh, I love you” He lets slip of his inside voice. His words hung around in the still air. You slowly turn around your head, locking eyes with him. A pool of adoration flooded there as he gazed at you for what seemed like an eternity. There was more than that. Gratitude, trust, support and promises. It was a moment too good to be true.

“Did you voice my thoughts, just now, Tooru?” you say slyly. Or more like you tried to. The shakiness on your voice from his past confession seemed to knock out the air from you. Your heart galloping in its cage. It was just you and him and the endless blasts of light behind you both. He sheepishly smiles at you, as if he is a 5 year old, not knowing what to do. You trace his fingers and say,

“I think its too dark for anyone to see us, Tooru” Indirectly letting him know this.

His eyes lit up at this as he quickly places a chaste kiss on your cheek before cradling it between his hands and slyly replies,

“Did you voice my thoughts, just now, Y/N-chan?”

Oikawa Tooru might be a passionate volleyball player but his heart also hold someone with equal importance.
