SORRY...
after a heated argument with sakusa, all you need is space from him but he can't live without you talking to him...
with sakusa kiyoomi
note: fem!reader, reader has their monthly cycle :p
genre: slight hurt and comfort
Tumblr media
You and Sakusa, your boyfriend for a year and a half, recently got into an argument. It was a small matter really, however, Sakusa had a bad day at the practice today. He didn't eat any lunch as you were rushing to work earlier and he basically forgot to feed himself some solid food. All he had was water.
You scolded him for that, but he was too tired to listen to you so instead, he took your 'caring' as 'nagging' and he let out his anger to you. He then realized his mistake when you walked off from the conversation because you couldn't really stand being yelled at instead of having a proper conversation like what adults should do. He also realized that you have your monthly cycle today, which made it even worse because you weren't supposed to tire yourself when you have cramps but you just ignored it as you have work.
When he woke up from his short nap, he went outside your shared bedroom to see you sleeping while laying on your stomach with your heat pad beneath you and your head resting on your arms folded in front of you. You looked so peaceful so he strolled towards you and crouched down to meet your face that he always admires.
He smiled at your soft snores and tucked the fallen strand of your hair behind your ear. He then frowned when he saw those dry, tear-stained cheeks and realized something, you're only laying in that kind of position if your cramps are really bad. He never felt so guilty before, you were only trying to care for him despite having bad cramps, and yet, he just lashed out his anger at you.
Sakusa rubbed his thumb on your cheek softly, making you flinch slightly and open your eyes to see the black eyes that you've always loved. You frowned when you see him so close to you, so you turned your head to the other side, still a bit upset at him. He chuckled at your antics. "Love? Look at me please?" He softly spoke.
"Hmph." Is all that you said, still not facing him. He sighed but knew that he deserves this. So, the right thing for him to do is to get your attention. He grabbed your heat pad from beneath, making you look at him. "Sakusa, what the he-"
Then he carried you bridal style and placed your heat pad above your stomach before walking to your shared bedroom. He plopped you down on the large bed and lie down beside you. He made sure you were comfy first before cuddling you. "Now this is much better." He mumbled while you groan in annoyance but couldn't really stay mad at him for so long.
He cradle you in his arms, "'M sorry love, I didn't mean to shout at you..." He mumbled. You hugged him back and snuggled closer. "It's okay, omi. I love you..."
He smiled and pecked your forehead. "I love you too, so much."

🫵🏻I need tecchou’s slow dance with this s/o pleeeeeeaaaasw😩
I shouldn't be writing this since I have so many requests on the backlog but BUT I love slowdancing and I have an entire playlist for this (multiple actually. Tecchou come home please)
How Deep Is Your Love - Bee Gees
Tumblr media
Scenario: Slow dancing with Husband!Tecchou <3 (also this got so horribly cheesy and off the rails so erm)
Eating lunch with your husband was something you always tried to fit into your schedule - you were both busy people, but there was always room to go and make time for one another.
But it would only last for so long. Half an hour. Sometimes, even less on busier days. So today was special because Tecchou was forcing you to stay.
Usually, when you would begin to walk out of his office, you would linger by the door and watch as he cranked another long workout in. Today he didn't bother to do that, however. This time, he didn't let you even leave your chair, instead pulling you by your hands to stand close to him, breathing in his scent.
He smelled like the leftovers of his plumeria cologne, the scent mingling with the iron tang of his clothes. His hair was close enough to tickle your nose, making you want to sneeze.
"I think we should dance."
Tecchou pulled you closer by your waist, swaying the two of you gently - like blades of grass. Neither of your feet left their spot, your hands still finding their spots between one another.
"I don't remember the last time we did that."
You placed your fingers along his bicep, feeling how the fabric pulled from his muscles. Your other hand entangled with his, placed between your chests.
Tecchou took the lead, practically dragging you on top of him as he stepped backward. You stumbled, trying to find your footing as you sat practically on top of his legs.
"Sorry. I kind of forgot."
"I walk backward. So you walk forward. Did you forget our wedding night?"
You pouted up at him, squeezing his hand a little too tightly as you began your proper dance together. Tecchou blinked down at you, smirking a little.
"You'd be great as a commander."
He kissed your forehead, his soft lips warming up your cold skin. You groaned, a smile stretching across your face.
"That makes me sound like an asshole or something, you're so mean."
"You are. Sometimes. I would never forget our wedding night."
Tecchou stepped away to let you turn, watching as you watched your feet to avoid stumbling again. The two of you were alone, but you were still so careful - to Tecchou, it was adorable to watch how concentrated you were.
He made sure to stay close to your side, making sure he wouldn't let you almost fall (again) as you stepped close to him again. Your hands moved to their positions easily, although Tecchou's instead were wrapped around you, holding you in a warm embrace.
"I think I held you just like this and knew that I wanted to stay there forever."
He mumbled this into your ear, his lips brushing against your helix. Your face grew warm, your fingers pulling at the nape of his neck. The heavy breath whined against your skin was hot, your body aching to feel more of his touch.
"What else do you remember about it? I remember how much I loved to call you my husband that night."
You pulled away a bit, just enough to look at Tecchou's face. His face was slightly flushed, contrasting the way his golden eyes shined towards you.
"I've been calling you my wife since the day that I met you. I don't think I could let anyone else have that honor."
He moved to pull one of your hands to lie in between the both of you - right between your chests, where your hearts lay. You could feel how his heart beat just as fast as yours, almost jumping to touch your hand.
"Did it feel different on that day?"
Stupidly, you had picked a fight you couldn't win with his hair - pushing it away from his face only for it to stubbornly bounce back into place once more. It led you to keeping your hand against his sternum, holding it back so you could see as much of his face you could.
"It just felt right."
He whispered this against your lips, before pressing his own against yours messily - the same way he always had. This kiss was lingering, however, taking as much time as he could.
His body pressed against yours as you danced an uneven dance backward - taking small steps toward what you both only hoped to be what was a wall.
Your break could be extended for a bit.
Tumblr media
One day writing all of these Tecchou asks is gonna make me become one of those tiktok book authors one day. maybe i felt this was so cheesy i couldn't help but rolling eyes like....im the author why am i like this.

Alfred getting to know the new Mrs. Wayne a little?
The Legal aid office was a repurposed brownstone. A nondescript building, really. But- he supposed that had its purposes. And as he shouldered the door open, Alfred was confronted with the sounds of an office in the middle of a work day.
The ground floor was desks and cubicles. A receptionist was cheerily directing traffic so he turned to her when he didn't see you downstairs- assuming your office was on an upper floor. "Excuse me?"
"Yes?" she said, putting her hand over the receiver on the phone.
"Could you direct me to Mrs. Wayne, please?"
"Top of the stairs on the right," she said, "Do you have an appointment?"
"Dropping off a proper lunch," he said holding up the lunch bag you'd left behind that morning- and one he'd repacked with something more substantial.
She glanced back over her shoulder and looked towards the clock, "She should be wrapping up her last meeting before lunch now," she said.
"Thank you," he said nodding, preparing to wait for a moment. Not wanting to intrude on what was presumably a very sensitive meeting. Either preparing for court or giving advice.
And when you appear, helping an elderly woman down the stairs, giving her what appears to be reassurances about her situation. And when she takes your hand, gripping it in both of hers, her leathered face wreathed in smiles- he realized why you stayed. For the people.
"Mrs. Wayne," the receptionist called, attracting your attention before you can turn and go back up. She gestured to Alfred and when you look surprised, and a little confused but wave him over anyway, Alfred goes.
"Alfred what-"
"You forgot your lunch, Ma'am," he said, handing you the box. "And I took the liberty of packing a proper meal, if you don't mind."
"I don't have- I- thank you," you tell him, looking flustered. You'd left your lunch on purpose. Mostly because you weren't gonna have time to eat it anyway- not today. But you didn't have the heart to tell Alfred that. If you were lucky one of your paralegals would be hungry. At least then it wouldn't go to waste.
When you take the box, Alfred smiles a little. Bruce has been worried about you not eating- not that you didn't eat. He'd seen you eat. But like his father before him, he could have all the odd habits he wanted. Even if they were slightly unhealthy. But. His wife needed to be coddled and wrapped in cotton wool.
It was sweet, even if it made him roll his eyes.
"Will that be all, Mrs. Wayne?" he asked. You looked a little tired, but he supposed a midday slump was normal. Other than that, you were perfectly alert- if flustered.
"I- yes? Thank you."
"Well, if there is anything further, you need only call. I'd be happy to send someone to bring it to you. Or bring it myself."
"Thank you," you manage, feeling awkward. "I- that's not necessary."
"Mr. Wayne has given us all instruction to see to it that you're properly taken care of," he said simply. "Whatever that entails."
"I-"
Alfred lowered his voice, aware that people were listening. This whole romance had been rather... a whirlwind. But he did have some measure of sympathy for you. For a down to earth girl, this was... a lot. "Whatever you need," he said. "You're the lady of the house. You needn't worry about inconveniencing us. It's lovely to have one again."
When you nod slightly, he smiled slightly and dismissed himself so you could get back to work. He didn't think there had ever been a Mrs. Wayne with a day job but- he couldn't think of a more fitting job for you to have.

'grounded' - holland march x reader
» summary: holland experiences a nightmare and you rush to comfort him.
» cw: mentions of alcoholism, anxiety attacks, crying
» word count: 1k
Tumblr media
- this is doesn't have much of a plot, but it was something I wanted to write for myself. if you enjoyed, please let me know if i should write more! .   ݁ ˖ ࣪ . ⋆ * . .   ݁ ˖ ࣪ . ⋆ * . .   ݁ ˖ ࣪ . ⋆ * . .   ݁ ˖ ࣪ . .   ݁ ˖ ࣪ . ⋆ * . .   ݁ ˖ ࣪ . ⋆ * . .   ݁ ˖ ࣪ . ⋆ * . .   ݁
As the rain poured down upon the quiet Los Angeles sidewalks, Holland journeyed back to his house, jacket held over his head. He had forgotten his umbrella again, the cloudiness of his mind being the reason. The amount of alcohol he consumed the evening prior was enough to recede his senses to the point where he passed out while on his lunch break today, causing a café employee to attempt to wake him up. His car had also broken down after driving over some nails in the road. Fortunately, Holland wasn't too far from his house, so he went back on foot.
The streetlamps illuminated his path back home, the crisp air making him stifle a few sneezes along the way. Once he reached his front steps, Holland collected his house key from his pocket and unlocked the front door. He glanced at his wrist watch, 11:43 P.M. His daughter, Holly, was staying over at her friends' house, the one of which he often forgot the name of. He didn't have to worry about making Holly dinner this late at night with her being out of the house.
Holland pinched the bridge of his nose, groaning softly as his hangover headache grew stronger. He was out of painkillers for the week, having to deal with the pain on his own once again. He took his dress shirt and trousers off and tossed them to the side of his bedroom, leaving him in a white tank top, dark briefs, and a ring necklace. After combing a hand through his now-messy hair, Holland tiredly exhales and climbs into his bed.
"Maybe some goddamn sleep will fix this," Holland muttered, leaning over the nightstand to switch the lamp off.
Going to bed without showering or eating a proper meal wasn't ideal, but he just wanted to sleep the pain away, both physically and mentally. He pulled the covers over his lean frame, sighing as he closed his eyes. The sound of rain against his bedroom window and his breaths were all he could hear, being alone for the night. He wished you were beside him, preferably with your arms wrapped around him, your touch always bringing him out of the dark thoughts he carried. Soon, the sound of the rain lulled Holland to sleep.
You had told him earlier today that you would be getting home late from a work party, not estimating a specific time. Holland reassured you that he would be fine and that Holly had been occupied for the night, telling you to enjoy the party. Despite your hesitation, you complied anyway and gave Holland's hand a firm squeeze of affection before leaving the driveway after breakfast.
You finally arrived home around 2 A.M., tired from all the socializing at the party. Careful not to disturb the household, you unlocked the front door as quietly as possible, slipping your shoes off inside. As you closed the door behind you, you heard a faint sniffling sound from your shared bedroom. You cautiously open the bedroom door to find Holland lying on his side, back facing you, his body visibly quivering.
"Holl'?" You approached him at the side of the bed, laying a gentle hand on his shoulder. "Holland? Are you alright?"
You finally got a good look at his face. Holland was crying in his sleep, face contorting as if experiencing discomfort. Your concern was rising as you gently shook him, an attempt to wake him.
"Holland, wake up," You spoke a little louder this time.
Holland's lips began to quiver, tears never ceasing to fall. "N-No... Don't… go!" His words were almost incomprehensible.
Your expression was one of concern as you shook him a little harder. "Holland! Wake up!"
The flush-faced detective suddenly jolted awake, eyes puffy and wide as he regained consciousness. "SHIT!" He exclaimed. "Y/N… oh, thank God. Fuck…" Tears continued flowing from his eyes and he leaned up to embrace you, muffling his sobs into your shoulder. You were relieved to see him awake but also wondered why he was so upset.
"Was it another nightmare?" You asked him, now rubbing circles on his back to calm him. He nodded, sniffling loudly. His entire body was trembling against you as he tried to calm down. But for now, he was only glad for you to be back in his arms.
You leaned away just a bit to hold his face in your hands, looking at him intently. Sometimes Holland experienced nightmares about the day he lost his wife to a housefire. It was a tragedy he often blamed himself for, unable to detect the gas leak before it happened. You assumed that he was drinking again after noticing the many bottles of alcohol scattered around the kitchen when you came home. Your thumbs gently massaged his damp cheeks as you pressed your lips to his forehead.
"It's okay. I'm here, you're safe. Holly is safe. You're fine." You reassured him, crawling into bed next to him. Holland nodded as you both lay together, your hands combing through his messy hair.
"Sorry you had to see me like this…" Holland croaked, trying to force a smile. He normally wasn't seen this upset unless he was drunk or having a panic attack, and was often afraid of showing vulnerability.
You shook your head as if to tell him not to apologize. "I should've come home sooner. But I'm here now, try and get some rest. I've got you."
Holland presses his lips against yours for only a few seconds, growing drowsy from your soothing touch. "I love you so much, baby…" He mumbled against your cheek, eyes slowly closing again. You were in this together, and you would do whatever it took to keep him grounded. Soon, Holland's breathing evened and you were sure he was asleep as you peppered soft kisses across his face.
"I love you too, always." You spoke, allowing your bodies to press flush against each other as you drifted off to sleep, listening to Holland's quiet breaths.

Hi there! Could I request a little drabble of reader bringing Doppo food on his lunch break, and maybe his coworkers being a bit jealous / shocked seeing how good his life outside of work is / how happy he becomes around his spouse? Ty! :D I just wanna hug him and boost his confidence a bit, his boss and coworkers are assholes to the poor guy
Doppo's spouse bringing him food during lunch break
Tumblr media
ommg hiii!! for some reason when I read your request I put it in a schedule like "Doppo's wife bringing him food", but now I notice you didn't mention the reader's gender so I make it gender neutral!! >.< also I totally agree!! this poor man just needs some proper care and a lot of hugs..
NBreader, fluff, just wholesome stuff;; 620 words
"T.. thank you, honey.. I'm sorry, you probably had your own business.."
"It's okay, dear.. Just don't forget to take a break and actually eat it, okay?"
Such a sweet caring tone.. Doppo can't help but smile, feeling how his cheeks get warmer and heart starts beating faster. You were like an angel, bringing him lunch when he forgot about it..!
"O-okay..! I promise to not be that forgetful next time.." - your husband nods, holding a box with a homemade meal you cooked specially for him. He already can't wait to savor every little piece of it, as your dishes were almost magic, bringing him much more energy than usual take-out from the store.
"Don't you worry.. I don't mind visiting you here everyday. You know, I want to make sure my precious spouse is doing okay.." - you smile softly and get closer, kissing his cheek. But also, as your faces get closer to each other, you can't help but giggle and whisper. - "Also, don't you think your co-workers keep looking at us?"
"Huh?" - only now Doppo noticed that a few other men, who also stood not that far away in the corridor, were trying to sneak a peek at him and his darling. Due to their wide eyes it looked like they were kinda surprised to see their always sad, tired salaryman in such high spirits.
"Hehe, Doppo, you are now the object of their jealousy, I think?" - you chuckle a little bit.
"I.. I think they were just shocked to see me like that. I'm not that positive during work hours, you know.." - Doppo sighs and whines. - "Uhh, I'm sure my stupid boss is trying to find more paperwork for me right now.. I can feel it.."
"Then I suppose I actually should appear more often in your office here, so you would feel better, honey.." - you place another kiss on his cheek. -"Let everyone know that you're no less happy than all of them.."
"I think I'm even much happier than they are.. Cause I have you, dear.." - his own words make him blush and he touches your hand shyly, looking you right in the eyes. - "C.. can you kiss me again, but this time.. you know.."
Ah.. You two are already married yet your husband is still so shy and gentle.. But that's why you loved him. You nod, cupping his face, his skin so soft and warm from blush, and then place a kiss on his lips, light but full of love and care.
"M.. your lips are always so sweet.." - Doppo mumbled with closed eyes, enjoying your tender touches. - "I want another one.."
"No, no, you shouldn't get too much sweets before lunch.." - you laugh, tapping on the box. - "Also, I think your lunch break will end soon, so it's time for me to go, okay?"
"O-oh..! You're right.." - it's clearly visible that Doppo immediately becomes nervous and more upset, thinking about returning to work.
"Don't worry, honey.. I will wait for you, and give as many kisses as you want when you get home.." - your whisper in his ear before walking away with a little smile.
'Then.. then I will work hard today..!' - he thought, still with a little smile on his lips as he happily walked to the break room, carefully holding your meal and not noticing the still surprised face of his co-workers.
Well, why should he? The only face that Doppo can see in front of him it's yours, with such a cute smile and adorable eyes… And having this image in his mind the whole day helps him work faster, so he can hurry up to his home, to finally see you again and receive his sweet little reward..

Other Cuddy
Tumblr media
Requests:
blueberrycoffee19
Gregory House x reader/oneshot: Where the reader is Lisa Cuddy’s older sister and comes to visit her at work and bring her lunch and while there she meets House.
Reader Pov:
"I got it. I can't believe you forgot it." I said to Lisa my younger sister as I was at her house getting her lunch she left behind. "Yeah, yeah just come to my office and give it to me." Lisa said making me sigh. "You're lucky I finished my work and have no clients today." I said to Lisa as I worked as a Lawyer. "Yeah I really am. Thank you by the way. I'll see you." Lisa said and soon hung up making me head out of her place to head to the Hospital she worked at. -
As I entered the hospital, I entered in the ER as Lisa's office is closer there. As I continued walking I got nudged on my shoulder making me trip a bit. "Hey! What the hell?" I said angrily and saw a man with a cain looking at me with a unhappy face. "You got two legs, use them properly." The man said casually leaving me shocked as he then continued walking or limping off making me glare at him. "Asshole." I said as I continued to my sister's office and soon entered in. "Hey, got your lunch." I said entering her office and saw Lisa on her desk writing some reports. "Oh god, thank you." Lisa said getting up from her desk walking over to me getting her lunch. "You can memorize the entire human anatomy yet can't remember your lunch." I said joking around as she nudges me softly. "You're always so annoying." Lisa said as she took the food to her desk and started eating as I took a seat on the other side of her desk. "Anything new?" Lisa asked me. "Uh... new case on property damage. My client has sued a man who destroyed his shop.... the guy was drunk." I explained to Lisa who nodded. "That's interesting, the drunk guy sounds like an asshole." Lisa said to me making me remember the guy who almost knocked me over. "Speaking of assholes... you got one in the hospital grounds." I said making Lisa look at me confused. "Who?" She asked. "Guy with a cain... doesn't seem to wear proper doctor attire and just wears whatever shirts he likes--" "House..." Lisa said cutting me off making me shocked. "Wait Gregory House? The man who you never decided to fire?" I asked as Lisa would complain to me how much a man named Gregory House would annoy the crap out of her but doesn't do anything. "Yeah... but it is what it is." Lisa said sighing making me chuckle. "I would lose my crap if I worked with a guy like House. He sounds like a nightmare." I said as Lisa and I chuckled but soon I heard the door open making me turn... and saw House. "I see, girl gossip. Please share it with the class." House said making Lisa and I roll our eyes. "What is it House?" Lisa asked him. "You got a very nice man wanting to talk to you." House said making Lisa sigh. "I wonder why." Lisa said getting up from her seat walking out as by what Lisa tells me, House said something rude to him. "You can go if you want by the way, thanks for the lunch." Lisa said leaving me in the office with House there too. "Well, well... we meet again." House said to me as I walked over to Lisa's chair sitting down on it. "Yes, yes we have." I said coldly as I was debating to go but a small part of me wanted to know House a bit more. "So are your the Lawyer Cuddy. I've heard nothing intresting about you." House said to me as I crossed my arms. "And your the Doctor House people complain about." I said back at him making it a horrible start. “Wow, I guess giving attitude runs in the family." House said making me roll my eyes making me pick up my things to leave as I had enough. "Wow, one single comment and that pissed you off." House said pissing me off even more. "You really are a handful.” I said back at House who just continued looking at me with zero amusement. "You complain a lot, don't you?" House said to me making me chuckle.
“I don’t blame you for being the asshole you are though.” I said making House look at me with confusion. “By how you act, you probably had a miserable childhood. From the cain and the pills I've heard and seen you’ve been taking shows how much pain you go through every single day. Using all those issues to let our your rudeness on others who then pities you. And I for once pity you.” I said and saw House’s face turn into a small bit of a shock making me smirk knowing I got somewhere.
“And I know how much you hate that. Keep in mind, us lawyers are very good at analyzing small things.” I said grinning at him then soon walked out of the office leaving House there.
-
Later on I decided to stay in the hospital to catch up with my sister and soon I realized it was getting late making me head home. Heading to the parking lot I had to walk pass a park to get there. "We meet again." I heard a voice making me turn and saw House on a bench grinning at me making me roll my eyes. "What? You're gonna complain I hurt your feelings? I thought the amazing doctor House has no feelings?" I asked but saw him chuckling a bit. "You wish… I wanted to reintroduce myself again. Our first time meeting wasn't very pleasant, I assume." House said making me nod. "I agree, It wasn't." I said and soon House got up from the bench and walked over to me towering over me leaving me shocked how tall he was for a guy who limps to the side. "I'm Doctor Gregory House." He said holding out his hand. "Y/n Cuddy." I said shaking his hand. "Anyways, you think you pitying me upsets me?" House asked me making me smirk. “No, but I know people finding out you care for others, will indeed upset you." I said straight up and soon walked off.
“It was a pleasure meeting you, Dr. House.” I said as I continued walking off knowing I did something to him. Writer Note: I'm back, sorry for the very long break as I had a lot of school stuff, work stuff and family issues making me really cut off from many social media and specifically tumblr. I promise to start posting more often! <3

Falling For the Saint (Clive Babineaux x Reader Insert)
Tags?: AFAB Reader, Clutzy reader, Season 1-2 ish, reader type to try and quietly eat at 4 am and end up accidentally walking up everyone, Fluff, strangers to friends to lovers, I’m giving you a name a personality, Pink haired insert (dyed,) ummmmmm I dunno let’s feel the vibe. probably many police precinct inaccuracies.
Today was going abnormally slow today, like usual. From the moment Clive hit his snooze button at 5, he decided today was going to be low key. Today somehow drained him, thinking about what whacky personality trait ‘Liv’s going to have today from trying to bring up the missing kids to his Lieutenant, from deciding what stale donut he’ll snack on for ‘lunch’ because he forgot his homemade packed lunch in the fridge somehow. (He even sat on the couch for 5 minutes just sitting.)
after getting ready and getting his holy grail; black coffee (he hate’s the stereotype of cops; donuts, plain coffee because they can’t afford the time, stiff posture, proper, despite showing many of them.) He walked into the precinct, unconsciously checking to see if everything’s under control and calm, which it was not.
In the bullpen he noticed an abundance of his fellow detectives here ON time with is unusual as his superiors aren’t as strict as they should be when it comes to being on time. He passed through the gate and saw his co-workers surrounding someone. You. He pauses, he’s never seen someone so… colourful?
You’re clad in a cat-red, maxi skirt with matching coloured beret and pumps. You had a black and white pocadot blouse with small-medium, poofy sleeves. Even your makeup was bold, bold but colourful, his mind actually went to Marilyn Monroe. Your lips were glossy and red, blush a cool rouge, your cat eyeliner and eye makeup drew him in, kin to the characters he had a crush on as a child in animation movies.
He realized after analyzing your outfit he was being creepy. He quickly snapped his head away from your being and started towards his desk. “Clive! Clive!” One of his co-workers grabbed his jacket with their fingers. He was surprised but held his strong expression, instead letting an exasperated looking face whilst raising his eyebrows, waiting for an answer. “Have you met Beth?” They asked with excitement clear in their tone.
“Uh, no considering I just walked through the gates.” He answered. His tone coming out bored and annoyed, he was a tad annoyed; yes, but it was mainly just his tone/being. He wasn’t trying to sound like this. “We’ll turn your frown upside down” he couldn’t resist, he rolled his eyes. “She’s so bright honestly! A bit of a clutz; I moved in everyones mugs away from the edge of their desks, but she just got transferred from the 99th precinct!” They then pull him to the box of muffins that caught his attention. (other than you lol, if i got to- man now I want a Timmies blueberry muffin :()
“Beth brought these in as a like ‘token of appreciation?’ If we cops were doing that pretty sure we’re supposed to but, eh?”
Pumpkin-Walnut. Acquired.
After his brunch muffin he did a bit of paper work, some back and forth between his desk, the board, and the morgue and by time you know it. It’s lunch. Like stated, brunch muffin, Clive thinks it’s okay to make breakfast count as lunch (8-10 bfast 11-1 lunch, he had his muffin at 7 and hasn’t eaten since.) He was sitting at his desk, leaning his chin on his right hand whilst closing his eyes and not thinking… just, sitting? Then he could feel someone approach him so he eyed his eyes to see you. The Newbie.
“Hello, Detective Babineaux, I’m Elizabeth Johnson. I transferred here from the Nine-Nine and according to our Lieutenant, you’ve been put on my ‘babysitting?’” He looks at you whilst you explain your being there when he hears a rather loud, gurgle. His eyes go from yours to your stomach and back to yours, once he sees your face he notices how quickly you flushed.
“Ah, I apologize. I forgot my lunch at home and planned to have a muffin for lunch only to find them gone.” You let a small chuckle out and let your eyes wonder to anywhere but Clive’s eyes.
“I guess you and I are in the same boat, huh?” He says in hopes of settling some of your embarrassment.
“Oh! You forgot your lunch too?” Your eyes light up, seemingly forgetting about your former emotion. “Uh, yeah-“ He begins going on about what he had packed for lunch. You two talked the duration just about food. You’re not sure how, it went from your lunches and how you wish you had them to the containers their in to the spices and seasonings used. Obey me! Replaced mc au brainrot
Mc=Noah (cause I don't like just saying mc, ik this isn't accurate btw I'm just a sucker for angst lol)
This contains explicit and harmful content, so, warning.
Part 2:
When a new student from the human realm was announced, I didn't think much of it
I thought maybe I'd get to make a new friend, hang out with them, hell maybe they could tell me everything that went on in the human realms while I was gone.
But not this
I'd never thought that she would completely take my place, it's weird saying it now.
Take my place, huh?
It was foolish of me to think I'd actually matter in their lives, their demons for fucks sake!
For all I know their waiting for the day to kill me.
Well, it wouldn't be the first time eitherway
My hand immideatly went to gently rub my throat remembering how belphegor had killed me in a brutal and slow way after I helped him escape.
Belphegor, weird, I normally just call him belphie.
Guess habits change.
I walked out of my room, messy RAD uniform and deep eyebags under my eyes, beautiful I know.
I walked into the dinning hall and everyone was with Angelica, the new student I was thinking about earlier, they were huddled around her as she told a story from the human realm.
I simply sat down and stared at my breakfast, deciding I'm not hungry I called out to beel.
He was the only one not fully engrossed in her story, simply listening while eating.
He turned his head to me and I walked over to him.
-"here, I'm not hungry bud, and your well, always hungry"- I smiled at him and silently cursed myself for the awkward phrasing
-"no, keep it."- said beel as he pushed my plate towards me.
-"beel, did you just reject food?"- I asked smiling at him, slightly nervous as to why.
-"no no, I would gladly accept it, the thing is that, I haven't seen you eat a proper meal in a week Noah"- he said as he handed me my plate, worry filled in his normally blank eyes.
-"Beel I'm fine I promise, please, take it."- I spoke through an honest smile.
-"no, you haven't been eating lunch or dinner either"- he said stubbornly as his voice raised a bit.
His brothers started to notice the commotion and slightly stared at us from time to time.
'shit, this is not how I wanted this to go' I thought to myself
-"I promise I have, I just arrive earlier than you and take it back to my room."- I spoke through a nervous aura, tensing up every few seconds
-"whenever I arrive your plate is there and served to the brim"- he spoke again, voice never flattering as he grabbed my wrist that was sliding my plate towards him.
-"well then, I didn't know that, someone must be refilling it, I'll make sure it doesn't happen again yeah?"- by this point the brothers were paying more attention to you than Angelica and were starting to grow suspicious of your odd and worrying behaviour.
You gave him your plate, waved at the brothers goodbye and left as soon as you entered.
-'Fuck..I can't go to RAD today, I can't stand the thought of confronting them, especially beel'- I thought as I ran a hand through my hair and then down my face.
I went to my room and pulled out my motorcycle keys, then the box hidden under the bed.
I made my way down the building with nobody noticing I was still there
The sound of a powerful motor echoed as I set out into the street, I admired the scenery around me but then remembered I forgot my helmet
-'Fuck it, it's fine, I normally don't ride with my helmet on'- I thought as I continued the way through the Devildom.
Blurry shops and demons all lined my view as I sped up through the busy streets.
I silently sighed as I arrived at my destination
It was a giant cliff with a barrier protecting the demons from the fall, it was very popular for it's beautiful view
I occasionally came here, normally on Saturdays on Sundays since I didn't have school those days but eh.
I doubt Lucifer will even care for a single missing day with demons missing school almost everyday
I sat down on the barrier and pulled out my stuff from the box.
Cigarettes and lighters.
I lighted one and felt the welcoming feeling of the drug invite me in.
Devildom cigarettes had 10x more effect than normal ones so as a human I fell under the influence rather quickly.
I stared at the view infront of me and stood up on the barrier
I took another puff and slightly let my thoughts wonder.
How couldn't I let my thoughts run? After all I had never been more alone.
Even in the human realm I was well known for my good grades and...devilish personality some would say.
I talked back to teachers, skipped class, did all types of drugs for whatever the reason and drank till I passed out.
I was never fully mentally stable and my body was concrete proof of that.
Scars, burn scars, littered almost every corner of my body.
There were scars on my arms and forearms, stomach, chest, legs and thighs.
I hated myself and I made sure that message got through to myself.
My scars weren't something to be ashamed of, infact I loved them, I remember I always showed them off when I was at any mental health meeting.
When this new school year rolled around that habit stopped.
Apparently me wearing a short sleeved shirt that revealed my scars was gruesome for Angelica.
I remember the day as if it was yesterday
I was walking through the halls, it was an early Saturday morning and I was wearing a shirt with no sleeves getting ready to accompany beel to the gym.
I smiled at myself in the mirror, loving the way my scars were on show.
Soon enough Angelica came in talking with mammon about who knows what
-"ready to go beel?"- I asked him with a smile he smiled back at me and said
-"yeah just one second, I left my protein drink in the kitchen"- he got on his feet and went jogging to the kitchen
I pulled my playlist up on my D.D.D and scrolled through the songs until I found one that I liked I reached for my headphones and Angelicas scream pierced through my ears.
I covered my ears while Lucifer and Satan, who had just entered the room came running to her side.
I looked at her wide eyed, wondering what caused such a reaction.
She was crying as she held her hands over her mouth, squeezing her eyes shut.
-"Angelica?! Answer me! What's wrong?!"- asked Lucifer, panic seen in his normally calm eyes.
-"T-their scars"- Angelica stuttered through tears
-"Who's scars?"- asked Satan a bit more calmly trying to understand the situation
-"Noah's! Noah's arms!, I can't bear to look at them"- she spoke once again through sobs as she sobbed into her hands
The demons heads snapped up at me, I shrugged and tried to continue my day.
Key word, tried.
Lucifer stood up straight and stared at me
-"Noah come with me, quick"- said Lucifer, I spread my arms and did a 'seriously?!' motion as I followed him
Angelica only sobbed louder as she saw the numerous scars on the other side of my arm
-"Noah!"- yelled Lucifer from the other room, a warning
I rolled my eyes as Angelicas screaming was starting to get on my nerves
-"oh suck it up! I'm the one with the scars not you!"- I yelled at her, pissed off that I was the one getting punished for something as ridiculous as this
-"NOAH!"- screamed lucifer, even madder from the other room,
-"I HEARD YOU THE FIRST TIME GRANDPA!"- I screamed as I left the room, the sounds of slight laughter being shot down by Angelica screaming at them for laughing as I closed the door.
-"yes, Lucifer?"- I asked, clearly annoyed as I stared at him crossing my arms, he simply scoweld at me as he slightly glared
A look I knew too well from the beggining of my first year at RAD.
-"given Angelicas reaction and your..actitude, towards it."-
-"from now on, it's mandatory for you, especifically, to wear a long sleeved shirt at all times, and I think this goes without saying but just to be clear, you aren't allowed to wear anything that shows your scars"- I stared at him in bewilderment.
All this for a girl he met a week ago?! Seriously?!
-"meaning, no shorts, no bathing suits, no exposing clothes, nothing along the lines of that"- he said as he slightly glared at me, we were the same height so it was easy for me to glare back.
I scoffed and looked at him.
-"this is fucking ridiculous, what, just because this random girl doesn't like some scars I have to change my entire wardrobe for her?! Fuck no!"- I yelled at him, I was pretty sure the other brothers could hear us two yelling but I didn't give a single shit.
I wasn't going to change everything for this random ass pretty girl I met barley a week ago.
That's absurd!
-"Yours scars are triggering for her, who knows when it might happen to another student when you decide to take off your jacket in class?!"- he yelled back at me stuff even he knew, were false and completely out of his ass.
-"Don't make me laugh! We both know the entire Devildom had seen my scars and none of them, GIVE A SINGLE FLYING SHIT"- You screamed at him, was it a bad idea? Yes Did you care? No, no you didn't
He massaged his temples with his fingers and glared at you.
-"I don't think you understand, I'm not asking you permission for this shit, I'm TELLING you, ORDERING you"- he screamed and you just scoffed at him.
-" well then! Fuck you too Lucifer! FUCK YOU TOO!"- you yelled at him, as you slammed the door on your way out.
The brothers stared at you in bewilderment and even Angelica stopped crying to give you a wide eyed look for talking back to Lucifer like that
-"not so triggering for you now, huh?"- I spoke through venom as I made my way to the kitchen where beel was packing some last minute snacks
I sighed and looked down at the joint in my hand at the memory
Smoke slowly coming out as I continued on my feet on the rail.
I couldn't believe how much this girl had affected me in less than a month.
I was forced to wear clothes I didn't like, be in charge of Angelica 24/7 since mammon barley did his job, relapsed terribly, got a terrible sleep schedule because of being forced to room with Angelica, lost motivation to do anything really, I didn't even feel hungry anymore.
Everyday Im just the walking skin of the person I used to be.
I took off the annoying sweater I had to wear, and stared at my arms, slowly rubbing my scars as a way to calm myself.
-"Nice scars yo!"- Spoke a demon on rollerblades as she sped beside me giving me a cocky smile
I smiled back and waved as a way of saying 'thank you!'
-"triggering others my ass"- i spoke softly bringing the drug between my lips before i got an idea.
I slowly sat down as I brought the burnt side of the cigarette to my arm, the feeling of burning skin brought me inner peace as I continued running it down my arm.
Blood slowly dripping as my arm got dirtied by the ash creating a gory wound behind.
The fire completely out by now as I put my sweater back, and rode to RAD, smiling to myself from the pain coursing through my arm.
As much as I didn't want to, I went to the nurse, it could get infected and that's the last thing I want to be honest, it's a pain in the ass.
After my lovely visit I went to my next class, which I regrettably had with Angelica.
-"Hey!"- she smiled at me as I arrived and sat next to her
I gave her a quick forced smiled and leaned on my arm.
Quickly shooting back as I had played down on my injured one, I gritted my teeth and shut my eyes
-"are you ok?!"- asked Angelica, worry sparkled through her features and eyes, as she held my arm gently
-"I'm fine.."- I muttered as I retreated my arm.
Angelica still looked worried and I could tell she could smell the horrid smell of cigarette on me.
I had a long week, Angelica wouldn't leave me alone, and my visits to the cliff with my lighter and cigarettes became more and more ordinary, the demon brothers pushed me away even more and we're starting to treat me horribly.
Lucifer would straight up ignore me and the only time he would speak to me was when he was screaming at me for my bad grades, oh yeah, did I mention? My grades took a downfall because of my, situation.
Mammon would steal and take my money from my room all the time, to either sell or give to Angelica, normally I wouldn't care but very important stuff has stared going missing and it's anger inducing
Levi would treat me like trash, straight to the point. Wonder what happened to the leviathan that would stay up all night playing videogames with me and would always invite me to read his magas with him.
Satan and Asmo just insulted me to no end, Asmo saying stuff about my looks and fashion sense, Satan about my likes in books and stories, judging everything about me.
Beel and belphie stayed quiet on the whole matter, they weren't close with Angelica and beel didn't really trust her so they stayed on the neutral side, but by doing that they distanced themselves away from me.
All for her.
For the shiny new girl.
Fuck them
Fuck her
And most importantly
Fuck me.
The burning of the lines became a known and welcoming feeling.
I was in my room reading a book I found in the library
I honestly couldn't care since I was more concentrated on my thoughts and burning arm than the pages filled with knowledge Infront of me.
Suddenly the room to my room shot open and I got on my feet.
An angry Lucifer followed by the worried faces of Angelica and the other siblings came into my room.
Great, what did I do now? I simply sat down as Lucifer continued glaring.
He simply slammed a box Infront of me.
Not just any box, my box.
Filled to the brim with bloody bandages, cigarettes, lighters, and bloody tissues.
I knew that if I acted surprised or looked over at my bed too see if it was the real one and not just some test it would be suspicious.
So I simply stared at the box and raised an eyebrow at him.
-"nice collection I guess"- I stated simply as I pulled out my D.D.D and started scrolling through devilgram.
-"Don't bullshit me Noah, I know this is yours"- he stated as he put his arms on my desk and leaned closer, his eyes weren't angry as I thought they would be.
They showed concern, sadness, worry.
What a joke.
I looked at him weirdly while everyone else stood stiff behind him.
"no it isn't, why would I need all that for?"- I said, pointing at the box.
I reached over and analysed the bloody bandage as if I didn't recognize the blood and smears.
Remembering how I dragged the cigarette across my arm, putting it out the farther it went, grabbing a tissue to wipe away the ashes and blood, applying the bandage over it.
Putting that ugly sweater on once again.
-"ew.."- I muttered throwing it into the box again.
Before I could retreat my hand, Lucifer reached towards and grabbed my arm.
It hurt like hell and I could feel the burns burning even more than normally.
The newest one slowly dripping droplets of blood, that have thankfully, not seeped through the fabric of the shirt and jacket I'm wearing.
-"what the fuck are you doing Lucifer"- I said, trying to break away my arm from his deadly grip but his firm hand never even flattered
-"Show us"- he spoke through gritted teeth
-"show you what exactly Lucifer?!, What do you want?!"- I asked him, taking my other arm and pulling on the other, trying to get it away from his grip.
I needed to keep a coolhead though, don't let them see you in a weak moment.
You gave up even if your brain was panicking in reality, thinking of every possible away to get away from them.
-"Come on Noah.., if ya don't have anything to hide, just show us ya arm, right?!"- spoke up Mammon since everyone else was in shock trying too see what would happen.
You stared at them.
And there she was.
In all her glory, cuddled up between the brothers on the verge of tears.
As if she was the one who was being interrogated and blamed.
As if she was the one hurting with thousands of burns on her arms.
As if she was the one drinking all her guilt away with wine and alcohol.
As if she was the victim.
I glared at Lucifer and used my magic to get him off me.
I could have used the pact but that would be suspicious, hence I barley use the pact to get the demon brothers to do something for me.
-"Jesus Christ man..."- I spoke softly as I rubbed my sore arm.
The brothers just deadpanned at me for a second but then returned to the matter at hand.
Lucifer glared and made his way around the table and Infront of me.
-"Fine then"- he turned around and glared at the group on the other side of the room
-"all of you take off whatever jacket or sweater your wearing and if your wearing a long sleeved shirt, pull it up"- he glared and everyone did as they were told immideatly
'and they say he kisses Diavolos ass godamn..'- you stared weirdly as everyone followed Lucifer's directions
He went around and checked their arms, then showing them too me.
Not a single one had a recent scar that would have been created by the stuff on the box
He circled back to me and glared as he stretched out his arm for me to give him mine.
As a last minute decision I casted a spell that allowed me to hide my scars.
I didn't do this since the beggining since there was a huge chance it might not work, hence it's a newly learned spell.
I scoffed and took off my sweater, hoping to any god or entity that it worked.
Luckily when I rolled up my sleeves, not a single scar in sight I relaxed a ton but didn't let anyone notice.
Lucifer simply examined them before he grabbed it tightly and pulled me towards him.
I tried to break free but I heard his voice, for everyone in the room to hear, especially me.
-"if you aren't hurt.., then, what's this?"- he spoke as he slowly raised his hand which was examining my arm filled with blood and burnt skin.
I stared in shock as I looked down and noticed the spell had worn off because I relaxed.
The brothers all stared wide eyed and some gasped.
Angelica broke out into tears but the brothers didn't pay any mind to it.
-'thats new'- I thought as I looked at their figures from Lucifer's shoulder since he still hadn't let me go.
He let go of my arm and hugged me and I felt him wrap his arms around me, his warm embrace brought tears to my eyes since it's been months since I felt it.
I hugged him back and hid my face in his shoulder as to not let anyone see my tears
I wanted to do nothing but make him let go of me, to scream and curse at him every profanity that came to mind.
But after finally being cared for after months of feeling nothing, felt so nice.
After that feeling of euphoria died I pushed Lucifer away and put on my jacket again.
-"Leave."- I spoke coldly as I didn't dare to meet their eyes.
-"Noah, please let us help you.."- spoke asmo carefully as he took a step towards
-"Are you all deaf, I said, Leave."- I spoke harshly once again.
-"c'mon Noah.."- spoke Mammon as he came closer.
-"why do you guys even care?!"- I yelled at them, Angelica flinching to which I just rolled my eyes at.
-"Because we care about you!"- yelled back Mammon
I scoffed and spoke -"sure you do, if you care then why have you guys been treating me like shit?"-
They all looked away knowing they were guilty
-"just admit you don't care and leave, go back to having fun with Angelica and leave me again."- I spoke as I simply glared and went to take my box.
Satan grabbed it before I could teach it and so I glared at him before walking over
-"Satan, give that back"-
-"listen, I know we..fucked up, but please give us another chance, we never knew this would happen, please."- I just grabbed the box and pulled it out of his grip.
-"yeah you guys fucked up, but you only care once stuff like this happens, what if you hadn't found the box? I'll tell you what, you would continue treating me like shit until I snapped because the guilt is eating you alive, it's not because you care or because your worried, it's so that you don't have to live with this guilt on your conscience for the rest of the year."- I knew some of what I was saying was a lie.
I could tell in their eyes they were worried and sad, that they were truly sorry.
But I wasn't going to forgive them easily.
Because part of what I said was true, they only cared once it came to this.
-"besides how did you even find the box"- I spoke harshly as I hid it again.
-"Angelica was commenting to us about how she was worried about you"- well that's new
-"and Mammon decided to look around your room too see if he could find something, then he found it..."-
You only scoffed at them before taking your backpack full of your stuff and clothes and leaving the room.
-"Noah! Where are you going?!"- spoke one of the brothers after you.
-"Purgatory hall"- you said bluntly continuing your path.
-"wait! Noah please! Let's talk things out!"- begged beel, being the only one who could keep up with you.
-"what's there to talk about?"- you muttered as you took a sharp turn
-"everything! Just please.."- Beel said as he grabbed your hands and put them to his forehead and he looked at you through tears.
-"Don't leave us..."- as some tears fell from his face
-"I'm sorry beel..but that's not your decision to make."- you pulled away and left the house of lamentation, not to be seen in a good while.

Chapter 23: Feast by the Fire
Hey guys!
Some cozy feels just in time for the holiday season! This one of the scenes I've been wanting to do ever since No Man's Land started to evolve from a silly little one shot to what it is today. I have to thank @rogueshadeaux for putting up with my ramblings as well as giving me the push to actually write the whole fic in general! Without further delay, let's jump in!
Tumblr media
---------
Crimson light bathes the land as the sun begins to set, I start to make my rounds around the HEMTT. I had volunteered to take the first watch while the others set up camp, mainly to be alone with my thoughts and boy howdy do I have a lot to think about.
I look around at where we had stopped, some sort of abandoned ranch or farm. A place where we could scavenge for scrap should we need to, quiet enough to set up shop for the night. I can see signs that people before us have thought the same, remnants of human activity littered the area in the form of burnt firewood, disrupted stones and used cans. I take one of the metal tins and toss it up in the air before shooting it with a mild bolt and walking on.
As I milled about, I started to think back about the “Night Warped” the Misfits mentioned before we had set off for Tri-Point. Bigger, nastier monsters that could only be out at night due to the UV from the sun frying them. I have asked for clarification before, but couldn’t get a straight answer from them as, apparently, there were just so many different types that somebody could run into if they wandered off into the night.
I think back to the monsters I had dealt with in the past. The Swamp Creatures and the Icemen that terrorized New Marias, the giant cockroach that Bertrand turned into, the metal monstrosities that the Dust Men created… Then there was that four armed freak, David Warner.
Now there were the recent additions to the rogues gallery of things I had to deal with, the literal zombies that were trying to turn Droptown into an all-you-can-eat Conduit buffet… And the less said about the Summoner, the better. I shudder at the still fresh memory of that ugly fuck, another thing to haunt my nightmares.
I remember the fight with that tumor-turned-skinned gorilla thing, how tough it was and how it healed when I used my Beast abilities. How the only thing that stopped it was the Amp shoved in its back and 100 million volts of fuck you channeled right into the spinal cord.
How much worse can these things get??
The smell of fire catches my attention before I could get too deep down that rabbit hole of potential nightmare fuel. I turn my head to see Kestrel and Dove setting up a fire and Pangolin bringing over a big-ass witch’s cauldron looking pot. A voice draws my eyes as I see Mako with a checklist and her calling out to the other three. Something about checking stashes. As the three head back to their trailers, I head over to Mako to ask what all the shouting’s about.
As I head over, I watch the Shark pull out various ingredients from a communal food storage. Hm, must be getting ready for dinner. My stomach growls at the thought. Damn, forgot to eat lunch earlier today.
“Whatcha got going on here?” I ask as I look over the ingredients, looks like some beef, potatoes and some veg, looking promising so far. Mako grins and puts her clipboard down.
“You remember the stew I brought over for lunch back in Droptown?” She asks in kind. Of course I remember, it was amazing! Especially after spending so long eating mainly shitty protein bars and whatever else I can get my hands on. I smile and nod as the memory of the first taste of actual, proper food flits through my head. Mako’s smile widens as I reminisce. “That’s what's on the menu for tonight, it’s called Hodge-Podge stew.”
“Hodge-Podge stew?” I repeat, raising an eyebrow. She nods in confirmation.
“Yeah, it’s pretty much a staple for us and any other nomadic Wildlander. Simple, easy to make, filling, hearty, everything you’d need in a meal.” I feel excitement well up inside as I continue to remember that thermos lunch. If it was that good as leftovers, having it hot from the pot would be even better.
“Just… Don’t expect it to taste the same as the leftovers.” Mako points out as she starts prepping the veg. “It’s never the same way twice.” I chuckle and smile.
“Don’t need it to taste the same way, just needs to be good.” I state before stretching. I give a wave before leaving her to do her prep work after saying a quick good-bye. My stomach growls again as I start to smell the ingredients. I hope there'll be enough for seconds.
I watch as the Misfits go through their trailers to find their personal stashes and bring them up to a card table where the ingredients were laid out. Mainly some spices like garlic and cilantro and other things. Now I see where the Hodge-Podge comes from, everyone contributes something to the meal. Part of me wished that I had thought of something like that for when I led way back when, but then I remember how much of a pain in the ass Kuo would have been about it and how it wouldn’t have worked with the amount of people under my leadership.
The thoughts of the comradery makes me frown a bit, not because I had something against it or I disapproved of it, but because I really didn’t have anything to contribute myself. Food-wise anyways.
I think to myself, despite the spats I’ve had with Kes and Pangolin, these guys have been decent hosts. Never asked any favors of me despite knowing I’m the Beast, hell, the Beast topic doesn’t really get brought up at all outside of said spats. Maybe every now and again in a joking way, but never seriously. They treated me like I’m just another person, no different than them, for better and worse.
I know they wouldn’t expect me to do anything, as I am their guest, but the thought just didn’t sit right. I look over and see everyone falling into their roles and an idea pops in my head. While I can’t contribute with food, maybe I can contribute by lending a hand? I see Pangolin lugging logs out from a storage compartment before pulling out a clipboard and looking over it. I’m guessing I’m gonna have to play nice for a little bit and talk to him about if there’s anything that needs to be done.
I stretch before walking over to the Brick Spartan, Mako turns her head to watch, wondering what I am planning.
“Hey Pangolin!” I call out as I walk over to him, I see him stiffen a bit, but once he sees the neutral expression on my face, he relaxes some. Seems like my little chat with him made an impact. Good. “Is there anything that needs done?” I can see Mako’s eyes widen in surprise out of the corner of my eye, but I focus on the shit brickhouse as he looks over a list and at what’s around.
“I’ve pulled out some logs for the fire.” He starts as he gestures over to the neatly stacked pile of wood. I look over at it and hum. “If you’re looking for something to do while dinner’s cooking, I’ll give you an axe and you can get to chopping.” I smile and nod, I can feel a certain itch making itself known at the thought of starting fires, but when I look over to the cooking fire, I see that Kes had it handled. Oh well, prepping the fuel will sate the itch for the time being. I hold my hand out and Pangolin gives me a chopping axe. “What, not gonna give me the monster you have?” I joke a little, he and I may not be on the best of footing at the moment, especially with how he treated the Gunsmith, but right now is a peace time, no point in stirring up shit when it’s not needed. Besides, me and Zeke still had our fair share of laughs even when things were shaky and I wasn’t ready to forgive. Pangolin chuckled nervously before rubbing the back of his head.
“Sorry Cole, just as the Amp is your baby, Rifter is mine.” I give a chuckle and a grin, but I can feel a bite of anger in my chest. If you already had a weapon you loved dear then what in the name of God was with your behavior towards Kes, Pangolin?? I note it as something to question him about later, but for now I take the axe and I head over to the wood pile to get started.
Putting my backpack to the side for the time being, I unhook the straps of my vest and use them to tie the vest back to open it more before taking the bandana from around my neck and tying it on my forehead. Do I look like some hick? Maybe, but I don’t care. I need more airflow to keep me from overheating and the bandana will keep the sweat from getting into my eyes.
I give the axe a good feel and a couple of practice swings. They take good care of their gear, I have to admit, the blade actually gave me a slight nick on my finger when I felt it. Grabbing a log, I stand it up before centering and taking a swing. Chopping the hunk of wood in half and then into quarters before I pile them up nearby, ready to be used to feed the hungry fire. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Mako walking over with an amused smile.
“I have to ask, who are you and what have you done with Cole?” She questions with a grin. I chuckle and roll my eyes.
“He didn’t go anywhere, Mako. I’m still me.” I hum between the swings. Even though the tool is light compared to the Amp and the movements are familiar, my muscles still give a slight satisfying burn from the repetition. In a way, I’ve missed this.
“I don’t believe you.” She teases as she puts her hands on her hips. “The Cole MacGrath I know wanted nothing to do with any of this. Any time the word “chore” is brought up, he’d walk away, put up a fight or would have complained the entire time!” I can’t help but to chuckle, it is true that I did throw up a stink whenever chores and labor were involved, but granted, I had a reason.
“That’s because “the Cole MacGrath” you knew was either “volentold” to help, pestered until he said “yes” or was outright demanded to help, even when he was in the middle of something else... Like trying to keep a bunch of mad-dogs from tearing each-other to shreds.” I point out, still keeping the playful tone. “Back in the Conduit Army, I really wasn’t given any choice in the matter. Here? I chose to help out. Nobody asked me to help, it wasn’t expected or demanded of me, I got to make the call of my own free will.” Mako nods in understanding.
“Besides, the pyro-itch was getting to me and I figured this would hold me over.” I can hear Mako snicker at my comment before I see a mischievous grin split across her face, oh god, not again. “Penny for your thoughts, Mako?”
“You’re just wanting to spend more time with the resident hothead, aren’t you?” Fucking called it. I roll my eyes before looking at her.
“And what, pray-tell, gave you that idea?” I scoff as I cross my arms.
“Hmmm… Let’s see. You’re working on a task that is connected to fire-tending, which is Kes’ responsibility… You’ve opened up your vest more so that the goods are on display… You’re standing in a spot where she can see you easily and watch you show off how strong you are…” My god, if I could roll my eyes any harder, they would have fallen out of my head. She’s losing her mind over this!
“Mako, how many of those sappy, fluffy, cutesy-wootsy romance animes have you watched since you’ve been on your own? Because the’ve rotted your brain, you’re looking for something that isn’t there!” I guffaw loudly, looking at her like she’s nuts as she just grinning away like the cat that ate the canary.
“Uh huh…. Suuuuuuure.” She hums while still grinning that shark-tooth smirk. “Don’t think I didn’t catch those wandering eyes.”
“What the hell is that supposed t-” Mako runs off giggling like a gremlin before I can even finish my sentence. What has gotten into her?! I let out an irritated sigh and pinch the bridge of my nose before going back to chopping wood.
Time seemed to fly as I got lost in the rhythm of my task. It’s only when I hear Pangolin bellow out to everyone that dinner’s ready and it’s time to eat. I stop what I was doing and use my bandana to wipe the sweat off of my brow and hands before wringing it out. As I walk over, I watch how everyone falls into place like a well oiled machine. Pangolin handing out the bowls and silverware that looked like they were fashioned from scrap and rebar, Mako at the giant iron pot, ladle in hand.
The two remaining Misfits line up and I take a cue from them and line up behind them. Moving with them and doing as they do. Taking the bowl given, heading to the pot so Mako can fill the vessel with the delicious smelling stew and then sitting down around the fire to relax and tuck in.
As Pangolin and Mako get their portion, I take a deep breath of the steam coming from the food and a big smile grows across my face as I take in the scents of the meal. Mmmmm…. Savory, meaty, hearty… Maybe spicy? Who cares, it smells tasty and I want to eat.
I take the rebar made spoon and get some of the broth from the bowl and blow on it before taking a sip. My eyes widen as I feel the tell-tale immediate burn of peppers and spice. The capsaicin stringing my tongue and throat and flooding my nerves with a sweetly tortuous heat that added thrill to the hearty and meaty flavors. Reminding me of some of my favorite dishes from New Marias. The more it burns, the bigger my smile grows before feasting, eating the meal like a man starved.
As I chow down, I started to notice a cacophony of pained gasps and pants. I look up and see the two brothers with red faces and angry tongues. Dove’s damn-near squawking while fanning his tongue with his hands and Pangolin was trying to keep a straight face, but the reddening of his cheeks and the tears pricking the corner of her eyes gave him away. I look over and see Kestrel happily eating while the corner of her lips twitch in struggle and Mako was trying not to laugh at the two dying brothers.
“What’s up with them?” I ask as I point over at the two while looking at Mako and Kestrel. Dove snaps his head to look at me in shock, staring at me like I’ve grown three heads.
“HOW IN THE NAME OF GOD IS YOUR TONGUE NOT ON FIRE, MACGRATH?!?” The pigeon squawks out and I have to cover my mouth to keep myself from spitting my stew in laughter.
“Quit your belly-aching, Dove!” I hear Kes snark out, her lips still fighting not to smirk. “It’s not even that hot! Barely a nose-runner!”
“Easy for you to say!” Dove croaks before glugging down a canteen of water. “You’re probably the one who spiked the stew again with your homemade god-damn hot hot-sauce!!” I struggle not to laugh as Kes puts on an overdramatic show of looking hurt and offended.
“Oh Dove, your cruel cruel words wound my heart!” The birdie teases in a faux hurt voice while doing the dramatic wrist to forehead arm and hand to heart thing. “Accusing me of such a thing! I would never ever eeeeeeeeeever do that!” I snort and sputter, trying not to absolutely lose it as Dove has a conniption.
“This is like, what, the fourth time this month you pulled this shit with the hot sauce, Morrison!” Dove yelps out as he continues to try to cool his tongue in vain. I can’t help myself anymore and burst out laughing. Holy hell, she has done this multiple times and they practically let her get away with it?!
“Well whose fault is that?” I chime in between laughs. “You’re the ones leaving her with the stock-pot unsupervised, so y’all got no-one to blame but yourselves for that.”
“How are you not dying from this?!” I hear Pangolin bellow out as he stares at me in disbelief. I laugh more as I try not to choke on soup. Kes looks at the brothers with a smug grin on her face.
“He likes it, three to two, you guys are outnumbered!” Kes points out with her spoon before taking another bite. It isn’t long before Dove and Kes get into a bit of a heated debate about hot-sauce tampering and if it’s sabotage so she and Mako could have the whole pot or not. I continue to laugh at the bickering birds as Pangolin continues to stare at me like I’m some sort of anomaly and Mako falls into a gigglefit.
In my fit, I thought I could hear the sound of scraping stone. I stop to look around, but saw nothing of note. I shrug and go back to watching the squabble. Probably just needing some rest.
After all, since when can a boulder move?

Title from One Life by Dermot Kennedy
____________________________________________________________
For the first time in years Tim was excited for Valentine’s Day. He had been planning and preparing for his first Valentine’s Day with Lucy since the last week in January. He hoped that tonight all of his preparations for tonight would finally pay off.
Tim was finishing the final touches of the main course when Kojo got up from his bed and started barking at the door wagging his tail and turning around in circles. A moment later his suspicion was confirmed when the door opened to reveal Lucy in the green dress from Angela’s wedding. He’s glad that he went with a dark green shirt and black suit jacket for the evening.
Tim is too stunned by Lucy to form any words let alone focus on anything other than her. He takes her in as she sets her things down on the couch before focusing her attention Kojo who had been prancing around her feet from the moment she stepped into the house.
“Hey, sorry I’m late. Traffic was crazy. I left my house twenty minutes early and LA traffic still managed to be worse than I could have imagined.” Lucy says as she continues to pet Kojo.
Tim means to respond. Really, he does but his brain can’t seem to get over how easily Lucy makes herself at home in his space. He can’t wait until the day they move in together officially.
Tim is snapped out of his thoughts when he hears Lucy ask him something.
“I’m sorry. What did you say?”
“I asked if you were okay. You looked pretty lost in thought there for a moment.” Lucy says, her brows pinched together, as she walks over to Tim placing a hand on his arm.
Tim smiles. He loves how she always checks up on him. He’s so used to taking care of people it’s nice to be taken care of. “I’m good. I just forgot how breathtaking you are.” Tim kisses away the worry lines on Lucy’s forehead and places his hands on her hips.
He watches as Lucy blushes at his words, a smile breaking out over her face.
“Thanks, you’re not too bad yourself.” Lucy teases.
“Not too bad?”
“Alright, you are very handsome. Better?”
“Much.”
Tim leans down and kisses Lucy gently before placing a kiss on her nose and head. He and Lucy rest their foreheads against each other closing their eyes and simply enjoying each other’s presence. Well, that is until Lucy’s stomach growls.
They both laugh as they pull away from each other.
“Lucy?
She hums in response.
“Did you forget to eat lunch today?”
“No, it was just cut short when me and Aaron got a urgent call that needed an immediate response. So, I’m sort of running on a taco and a half right now. By the way everything smells amazing. What did you cook for tonight?”
“That is a surprise. Do you mind taking Kojo out to the backyard? I haven’t been able to give him a proper walk this evening and I’m sure he needs to run off some energy. Everything should be set up once you get back.”
“Ok, is there anything I need to grab for him before I take him out?”
“No, his outdoor water bowl should be full and I fed him a few minutes before you got here so he shouldn’t be hungry.”
“Alright. I’ll be right back.” Lucy says right before she Kojo over to follow her outside.
Tim watches as she grabs one of Kojo favorite chew toys and brings out with her. He has to stop himself from staring again so that he can get the table ready. Tim sets out a fancy tableware set that Angela had brought him a while ago. Next, he gets the nice bottle of red wine out of the fridge and sets it in the middle of the table along with two wine glasses. Finally, he plates up the main dish of the night and sets the side dishes on either side of the wine bottle.
Tim dims the lights and lights a few candles that he had seen at Lucy’s apartment and bought a few days ago.
Tim stands next to the table as he waits for Lucy to come back in. Lucy’s laughter fills the house as she comes back in. He hears her say goodbye to Kojo as she closes the door behind her.
“You were right Kojo definitely needed to run off some energy. I feel a little ba-.” Lucy pauses as she reaches the dining room.  “Oh, wow! This is amazing. How did you manage to set all of this up? I was only gone a few minutes.”
“A lot of preparation beforehand.” Tim pulls out her chair and gestures for her to take a seat. He relishes in the short but sweet kiss that Lucy places on his cheek. Tim returns the gesture before taking a seat in the chair across from her.
Lucy stares at all the food laid out on the table.
“Tim everything looks and smells delicious. You know you didn’t have to do all of this.”
“I know, but I wanted to. This is our first Valentine’s Day together and I wanted to make sure it was special.”
“Thank you. Seriously, this has already blown all of my previous Valentine’s Day out of the water.” Lucy takes another look at the food in front of her smiles. “Wait is this the vegetable lasagna-.”
“That you told me about a few days ago. Yes, it is. You seemed so excited about it so I thought that I would surprise you with it for tonight. Hopefully, I did it justice.”
“If it tastes as good as it smells I’m sure that it is going to be amazing.”
“And as the sides I made some garlic bread and I tried my hand at making those seafood dumplings that you made a few weeks ago.”
Lucy adoringly stares at Tim. She starts and stops to say something multiple times before shaking her head and leaning over the table to kiss Tim.
“Wow, I didn’t think I’d ever manage to render Lucy Chen speechless.” Tim teases against her lips.
Lucy chuckles and rolls her eyes as she leans back in her chair.
“Well, consider the impossible done. I am without words for everything that I’m feeling right now.”
“All good I hope.”
Lucy smiles and nods. “All good.”
As Tim and Lucy eat they converse lightly about their day, family, and friends. Their conversation is lively and full of laughter. Over the course of the dinner Tim feels the stress of the past few days melt away. He knows that him and Lucy are still in the early stages of their relationships but he already knows that he wants this for the rest of his life. Coming home to Lucy or Lucy coming home to him and relaxing in each other’s presence. He knows that everyday won’t be perfect and they’ll still have their arguments but he’s ready for that too because Lucy, their relationship and their future family will always be worth fighting for.
Its almost funny that today’s the day that he has the gut punch realization of what he’s feeling. There’s 365 days in the year and of course he figures out that he loves Lucy Chen on Valentine’s Day. Its probably the most cliché thing that has ever happened to him in his life and he really can’t find it in himself to care. Tim quietly chuckles to himself and shakes his head at himself.
He's not surprised that Lucy notices and it just makes him smile harder.
“What?” Lucy asks, a light smile crosses her face as her brows draw together.
Tim swears that his heart grows bigger and he thinks it might explode from all the love he has for Lucy.
“I’ll, uh, I’ll tell you after we clean up. I want to tell you right and I think I need a few minutes to figure out to do that okay.” He says meeting Lucy’s gaze.
“Okay. I’ll get the dishes and you get Kojo. I’m sure he wants some one on one time with his dad.”
“Luce I was going to get the dishes.”
“I know, but you did all of this for me today. Let me at least help with cleaning up.”
Tim reaches across the space between him and Lucy and lays his hand, palm side up, on the table. His hand is quickly enveloped in hers.
“I did this for us, Luce.”
“I know Tim. I know.”
Tim watches as Lucy stands and walks around the table. She sits in Tim’s lap, looping her arms around his neck. Tim wraps his arms around her waist holding her close him. He can’t help but to rest his head in the crook of her neck. He loves how Lucy’s hands feel as she gently runs her fingers through the hair at the nape of his neck. Tim places a gentle kiss to her shoulder before lifting his head to look at her.
“Let me get the dishes Tim. I appreciate everything you did for us today, so just let me do this. Trust me putting some dishes in the dish washer isn’t going to ruin Valentine’s Day for me.”
“Okay, I’ll get our dog ready for bed while you get the dishes.”
Tim kisses Lucy one last time reluctantly breaking their embrace to go get Kojo. He changes out of his dress clothes and into a pair of sweats and t-shirt before going to Kojo. When he steps outside he sees Kojo laying in his dog house lazily biting one of his chew toys. For a moment he considers just bringing Kojo inside but he knows from previous experience that if Kojo doesn’t have a proper night time run the dog will be up all hours of the night wanting play.
Tim calls Kojo over to him who runs over happily barking and wagging his tail.
“Hey, who’s a good boy.” Tim says as he kneels down to Kojo to give him some rubs and cuddles. “You ready for your walk buddy? Yeah? Alright, come on lets go.” He says as he hooks Kojo’s leash into his collar.
Tim takes Kojo for a run around the block two times. By the time he and Kojo arrive back at his house nearly half an hour has passed. When they enter the house Kojo goes to his bed. Tim locks up the house and sets the alarm. He calls out Lucy’s name when he doesn’t see her in the kitchen.
“In here.” Lucy calls out from Tim’s room.
The sight that greets Tim when steps into his room stops him in his tracks. Lucy’s night clothes are laid out on his bed. She’s already started to change. Her shoes from earlier are off and her dress is partially undone.
“See something you like?” Lucy teases as she turns to face Tim.
“Yeah, I do.” Tim says taking a step toward Lucy. “May I?” He asks gesturing towards Lucy’s dress.
Lucy nods, turning back around to let Tim access the zipper. “You sort of have great timing because the zipper got stuck and I’m not really in the position to unstick it.”
Tim chuckles as he gently tugs the zipper to unstick it. Eventually the zipper comes free and he’s able to unzip the dress. One side of the dress slips down Lucy’s shoulder. Tim presses a kiss into the shoulder that’s now exposed. He feels her shudder against him.
“Is this, okay?”
Lucy nods imperceptibly. “Yeah, better than okay.” She leans into Tim’s embrace.
Tim carefully helps Lucy out of the rest of the dress, kissing every inch of skin that he can along the way. It isn’t until he pulls back from Lucy that he notices the matching set of underwear that she’s wearing. Once again, he’s rendered speechless. When Lucy turns in his arms to face him, he gladly accepts her kiss his hands landing on her hips, his thumbs rubbing small circles into her side. He feels her hands land on his shoulder before they run down chest and continue their way down to the hem of his shirt only to push the shirt up as far as she can.
Tim breaks the kiss to take his shirt off the rest of the way and throws it off to the wayside.
“Lucy, you are the most amazing and beautiful person I know and I am so lucky to have you in my life.” Tim says in-between peppering kisses along her neck and shoulder.
He leans into Lucy’s touch when she caresses his face and lets her guide his head so that he meets her gaze and when he look into her eyes he sees a multitude of intense emotions swirling around.
“Tim, everyday that I’m with you is one of the best days of my life. You are so strong and kind. I am so happy to be the one you chose to be vulnerable with. Thank you for letting me in.”
He wants to tell her right now exactly how he feels about. How much he loves her and can’t wait spend the rest of his life with her. How she was the one to help him re-learn how to be open and vulnerable to those he cares about. He wants to explain to her that over the last few years and especially these last few months home stopped being a place and started being anywhere she is and that he’s most at home when he’s in her arms.
Its all bubbling right at the surface, but he doesn’t think now is the right time. He doesn’t want her to think that he’s saying it because they’re about to have sex and its his lust filled brain taking over. Tim wants her to know just how much he means every word he wants to say. So, he waits.
Instead, he kisses her trying to convey every emotion he’s filling into the action. On some level she must understand because she kisses him back with the same intensity and Tim is sure he’s never been happier about the fact that they don’t need words to communicate.
Tim picks Lucy up and brings her over to the bed laying her down. He hears her confused whine when he pulls away from her. Tim notes the way the whine turns into a giggle once she realizes what he’s doing.
“Alright, good call. I would have hated for my clothes to get ruined.” She says as she watches him put away her dress and the clothes that she had laid out earlier into her bag that was now sitting next to the bed.
After he’s done Tim makes his way back over to Lucy and covers her body with his own. Over the next few hours Tim makes it clear with his actions how much he loves and adores Lucy. Tim is more surprised than he should be when Lucy returns his affection and so much more.
__________________________
Its not until late the next morning that the conversation that he wanted to have last night is brought up again. They’re sitting on the couch eating breakfast that they decided to DoorDash since neither one had the energy to cook with both of them still being tired from last night’s activities. A rom-com that Lucy had chosen plays out in front of them with Tim only half paying attention As the credit begin to roll Lucy mutes the tv and turns to him.
“I know that there was something that you wanted to talk about last night after dinner, but then we got… distracted. Do you still want to talk about it?”
This is his chance to finally tell Lucy that he loves her. After months maybe even years he finally gets to tell her, but when it comes to saying those three words out loud he freezes. He knows that rationally there’s nothing to fear because he’s pretty sure that Lucy feels the same way. And for a moment he considers changing the subject or making something up, but then he remembers how Lucy had told with such reverence that he is strong and brave last night and he musters up the courage to tell her.
Tim pulls Lucy into his lap, guiding her so that she straddles his waist and looks into her eyes.
“Lucy, you are my person. The one I want to be with on my best days and worst nights. The one I trust more than anyone in the world to have my back or call me on my BS. I know that we’ve only been dating a few months, but I am in love with you and I hope I get to share the rest of my life with you.”
A moment passes as Tim waits for Lucy’s response. His heart is beating so hard he swears its going to beat out of his chest and he knows that Lucy can feel his heart beat from where her hand is resting on his chest. He’s nearly taken off guard by the way Lucy surges forward and kisses him.
“Tim, you are my person too. You are my home and my safe place. I love you so much and I can’t wait to build a family with you one day.” Lucy says against his lips. She kisses him one more time before settling her head in-between the crook of his shoulder and neck. Her hand rests over his heart.
Tim kisses her head and wraps an arm around her waist while his other hand reaches up to hold her hand. He doesn’t know how long they stay like this and can’t really find it in him to care because as long as he’s with Lucy he’s home. He can’t wait for their next Valentine’s Day together and all the other moments in-between.

Could you write Keith shadis (aot modern au) coming home to housewife y/n?💞
YESSS fictional men that need therapy are my favorite!
‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐‐
Y/n leaned against the kitchen counter, waiting for the potatoes to cook. She was scrolling through her phone when she got a text from her husband "I'll be home in a bit. Do you need anything from the store?" Y/n smiled and texted back."Nope! But I'm happy that you're thinking of me! Love you! :) " After y/n pressed 'send', the timer went off, and she turned off the boiling potatoes and went back to preparing dinner.
Twenty minutes had passed, and y/n set two plates of food on the table and got out two cups. Before she could get a drink from out of the fridge, the front door opened and shut, and Keith walked into the kitchen. "Ah, Keith! You're just in time, I just finished making dinner" y/n said with a smile "smells good, I'm not sure what grime I have on me so I'm going to wash up a bit first" he explained before exiting the kitchen. Y/n heard shower water running and sat patiently at the table.
After a good five minutes, the shower turned off. Two minutes later, Keith stepped into the kitchen in comfortable green sweatpants and a loose Grey shirt. " You waited for me? The food's probably cold now. Dont wait for me next time just eat" He said in a stern voice before sitting at the table "I wanted to eat with you" y/n said "I-it wouldn't have felt right eating dinner without you" y/n frowned and stared at the kitchens tile floor and Keith's heart sank when he realized the venom in his voice"I'm sorry y/n I shouldn't have talked to you in that tone, I just don't want you going hungry, alright?" "i know you're only like this because you care." y/n smiled at him before remembering the dishes on the table. " The food is probably cold by now. I'll heat it up for you!" Y/n grabbed Keith's plate and put it in the microwave. When the microwave chimed, she took out Keith's plate and then heated her own plate. When both plates of food were reheated, she sat them down on the table before pulling out her chair and starting her meal. "How was your day?" Y/n asked, taking a bite out of a carrot slices "stressful" keith sighed."Some kid fell off a swing and got a concussion then tried to walk it off like he was fine," he said, rolling his eyes at the thought. "What about you? Do you have anything today?" He asked before taking a bite of the mashed potatoes."I just ran a few errands, went to the store, and got a few things for lunch, the usual." Keith pulled a tired smile. " Nice, I'm off tomorrow. Maybe we could go out?" Keith asked."I'd love to! You've been so busy with work that there hasn't been any time for just us. " y/n sighed, trying to remember the last time they had a proper date. "I'll be sure to make tomorrow's date memorable" he said with a smirk before standing up to put his plate in the sink "I'll do the dishes tonight" he said already rolling up the sleeves of his shirt, "thanks! I'll get us something to drink!"
Y/n opened the refrigerator door and laughed a bit "keith I forgot to ask you to get juice!"
(Please remember that I am a beginner writer! )

12th day - "Interval Level4" (scene 3)
"You're right. It's a bit early, but let's start preparing." "Is it early? It is almost noon and it will take time to prepare, so I believe this is around the right time."
"Hm? Oh, I made boxed lunches today. It's already made, so we can eat it once we bring it here."
"Wonderful. Then I guess I will be able to endure this." Saber is relieved.
"…?? Endure what?" "N-No, I did not mean anything! I was just talking to myself, so let us eat lunch now!"
"Saber… you're acting a bit strange. You acted strange while we were training too. It's a problem if you don't tell me when you're feeling bad. If you feel sick, we'll forget the boxed lunch and make something that's easy to digest."
"Eh――N-No, that is not true! It will take time to start cooking and we need to eat right now. Anyways, let us eat lunch, Shirou!"
"……" She's obviously acting suspiciously. But it doesn't seem like she's sick, so I shouldn't have to prepare anything different for lunch.
"All right. Then I'll bring some tea with lunch, so wait here. Let's eat in the dojo for once." "Yes. I will be looking forward to it, Shirou."
Saber sees me off, waving her hand wildly. …Panicking and getting mad. I really wonder what's wrong with her today…
At noon, we start to eat lunch. I made a proper meal this morning, so I made a boxed lunch with the leftovers.
"This is… I see, you have put the food from breakfast between bread."
Saber admires the sandwich as she eats it. As she is using a paper napkin so as to not dirty her hands, I can sense her elegance even with this kind of lunch.
"Yeah. I thought so this morning as well, but Shirou sure is a good cook. I think eating good food is a good thing."
On the other hand, Ilya is stuffing in her sandwich, full of energy. I don't know if she's out of control or just copying me. Ilya usually seems more well-mannered than Saber, but that doesn't seem to apply to dining manners.
"Hold on, Ilyasviel. Your hair will get dirty if you stay like that." Saber places a napkin against Ilya's cheek. Something like butter must've been on there as Saber wipes around Ilya's mouth.
"…Thanks. But what is this? You don't like me, right?"
"Yes, I am still on guard right now. But I understand people's hearts as well. You bear no hostility and Shirou has accepted you as a guest. So I will use minimal manners. And――" "And?"
"Your hair is beautiful. Seeing it get dirtied in front of me is somewhat painful." That must have been from the bottom of her heart. Saber's voice is the same as always. It doesn't sound like she's thinking about Ilya.
"―――――" Ilya stares at Saber. And I realize. Ilya has never directly looked at Saber until now. For Ilya, Saber was just my Servant and not someone that deserved to be treated as a human.
"…Heh. Shirou is mine even if you say that sort of a thing. Well, I can consider you as well. I can make Shirou win, but I can't protect him."
Ilya says so while shrugging her shoulders and eats her sandwich.
"You do not need to tell me that. It is a Servant's duty to be their Master's shield." Saber answers Ilya plainly. The conversation is the same as before, but their voices sound more gentle.
Tohsaka comes while we're relaxing after lunch. "Shirou, are you here? I'm ready, so come by as soon as you can." She addresses me concisely and returns to the outbuilding.
"…Oh, I forgot about that. I was going to have Tohsaka teach me magic this afternoon."
As I never had a proper teacher, Tohsaka's magic lectures are more than helpful. It seems Tohsaka is still willing to teach me, so I should go to see her as quickly as I can.
"Sorry, I'll be going to Tohsaka's room. I don't know how long it'll take, so you guys can go rest."
"All right. I'm kind of sleepy, so I'll take a nap." Ilya goes out of the dojo, rubbing her eyes sleepily. …Good. If Ilya will calmly go to sleep, there won't be any problem with me going to Tohsaka's room.
"Shirou. Are you going to Rin's room?" "Hm? Yeah, I just said so. I need her to teach me magic."
"…Is there a need for that? We have defeated Berserker and there are no more enemies that require our cooperation to defeat. So there should not be anything you need to learn from Rin."
…Hmm. That might certainly be true. First of all, Tohsaka taught me so that we could go up against Berserker. Now that that need is not there, there's no more reason to learn from Tohsaka, but――
"No, I want to learn from her, forgetting the thing about Berserker. I'm inexperienced, so I have to become a better magus as quickly as I can."
"…I see. If you say so, I have no right to stop you." "…?" Saber murmurs with a sad face.
"Then I'll start the lecture, but there's something I need to ask you first. Is any part of your body broken?"
Tohsaka asks me a strange question as soon as I enter her room.
"――? What would be broken?"
"I'm asking you if any part of your body won't move. You did something as absurd as that, so I know your nerves must be burned up somewhere. …Well, I don't really care, but I need to know before I start teaching you."
…It seems my body should be numb somewhere according to Tohsaka. But I know myself that she's wrong.
"――No, my whole body's fine. The fever and the headache went away after one night, so I'm healthy now."
"Huh? That can't be true. You projected Saber's sword. That kind of stunt should at least take out one of your arms!"
"I'm telling you, they're fine. Anyways, if I couldn't move, I wouldn't have been able to carry Ilya home. The only things wrong with me back then were the fever and the headache." "You're lying! Let me see your arm, Shirou!"
Without waiting for a reply, Tohsaka takes my arm and stares at it.
"―――――!" That makes my breathing stop. …Even though I'm getting used to her, having her this close tenses me up.
And on top of that, um――this distance reminds me of that night. It's not like I forgot about it, but that was really just an emergency illusion.
I can't stay calm if I recall it, but I don't recall it unless something like this happens. That's why I'm able to talk normally if Tohsaka acts normal. But if she comes close to me like this, it's only natural for me to tense up and stop breathing.
"…There really doesn't seem to be anything wrong. There are some places black like a bruise that might be because of the burning, but everything else has healed. …No, it's more like it grew anew, rather than healing…." As she murmurs, her breath brushes my arm.
"―――――Hey." That makes me blush, but…
"Your body is ridiculous. This isn't because of that healing. Your healing is definitely caused by some outside force, but I think that this is from your own healing power." She says so while rolling up my sleeve and patting my arm.
"Hey, stop that…! T-That's enough, Tohsaka. Go sit in your chair if you're done…!" I pull my arm back to get away from Tohsaka.
"…? Hey, I'm examining your body to see how you are… ohhh, I see…." Tohsaka moves closer to me.
"You say your fever's gone, but it seems you still have one. Your face is all red." "T-That's none of your business! Don't worry about it!"
"I see. If it's none of my business, then you won't mind me doing this, right?" "Hya…! D-D-D-Don't put your hand on my forehead…![l] I don't have a fever, so there's no point…!"
"It seems so. Even your ears are red. It seems more like you're drunk than feverish."
She smiles maliciously. …It's deliberate. I bet she's doing this deliberately.
"…Tohsaka. You're doing this on purpose, right?" "Oh, you can tell? I had to make fun of you since your reactions are so good."
"……" …Heh. You should go to hell for toying with a man's innocence.
"Well. I'll stop playing around. The mummy hunter might become the mummy if I make fun of you too much." Tohsaka returns to her chair in a good mood. …This is a problem. Tohsaka will likely make more fun of me as the days go by.
"…Tohsaka, I don't like to say this, but I came here to learn seriously."
"Oh, that's so impolite. I feel the same way. I was just checking on my student's health just now." "Okay. Then you'll get to the point, right?"
"…Let's see. It's outside my specialty, so I'll only be able to give you some advice, but I'm sure it's better than nothing." Tohsaka turns to me seriously, discarding her earlier lightheartedness.
"To be honest, that last lesson was the last time I could be of help to you. You can't learn magic with such short lessons. I only turned the switch on for you that you didn't use. Do you understand?"
"That jewel, right? After I swallowed that, the Magic Circuit did become something to switch on and off rather than something to make."
"Yeah. That's about all I can teach you in such a short time. And even that was just releasing what you've been training until now. I can only develop what you've learned, and I have no intention of teaching you any new magic. Because you have no talent."
"…Yeah. I feel kind of refreshed if you tell me it straight like that. But you will give me advice about the magic I can use, right? So, tell me what I used back then."
"―――――" Tohsaka doesn't answer. She just glares at me like I'm her enemy.
"Tohsaka? Um, this is a lecture, right? It's a problem if you don't say anything." "―――――" She averts her gaze with an unhappy expression. But that's only for a moment.
"――That's impossible. I can't use projection magic. There's no way I can teach you about something I don't understand." "…? …You can't use it…?"
I tilt my head questioningly. Wasn't the thing I used against Berserker fundamental for a magus? Assuming the structure of an object and passing the necessary magical energy through it. It's no different from a "strengthening" magic. But it's hard to pass my magical energy, an alien element, through an object that's already there. It's like adding "paint I consider red" to make something redder, but ending up with a different color.
Compared to that, it's so much easier to draw using my own paint from start to finish. I can just draw whatever I want.
"That can't be true. You must be able to do that. It's easier than strengthening magic."
"Hey. If you said that to another magus, they would kill you for sure. What you did was projection, and you completely reproduced a Noble Phantasm. I've never heard of a Faker who could do such a thing."
"―――――" I feel a chill. ――It's not my imagination. Tohsaka is certainly hostile to me――
"――Heh, it's nothing. I had a sense of it since I saw your shed. There's no point in feeling enmity toward Emiya Shirou now."
"I'll explain since you seem to be misunderstanding. What you did was a 'projection' magic. It's an incomplete magic that reproduces images of existing artwork or weapons using your own magical energy. It's usually used as a temporary substitute for ritual items. But it disappears quickly since it's made from an image, and it's naturally recognized as an 'imaginary object'."
"……?" I can understand that it's a reproduction made out of illusions. I saw Saber's sword in my dream and imagined the golden sword based on it.
"…I don't get it. Magical energy is like clay. So shouldn't it stay around once it takes form even if it's just an image?"
"That's not true…! Magical energy is something that can only exist inside you, right!? That's why we pass our magical energy into other things and use magical energy as a starter to affect nature!
"Sure, I can make something like a dagger by mixing magical energy like toffee. But that's it. It's just toffee that's shaped like a dagger, and it will disappear quickly since magical energy taken outside will vaporize."
"Listen. Things made of magical energy will not last long, and they're just shapes. …Well, I guess the projection magic takes these things with only shape and make the ability close to the original's as well."
"――Hm." Certainly, magical energy has no shape. I can feel it when it's in my body, but it fades and disappears once it goes outside.
So no matter how well I make a blueprint in my head and construct something out of magical energy, it is only natural for it to fade away since it's made out of magical energy. …Come to think of it. When I first did something like projection when Kiritsugu first started to teach me, he told me to do strengthening instead because projection was inefficient.
"――I see. Projection uses a lot of magical energy. It'll disappear right away when you use it, so it's pointless to make things."
"That's right. For example, you would use ten magical energy to 'project' a sword, right? In that case, the sword only has a power of about three or four. A human image is full of holes, so it can't reproduce something just like the original. In contrast, if you 'strengthen' a sword using ten magical energy, the power of the sword increases to twenty or thirty. And it lasts a hundred times longer than 'projection'."
"You understand? Nowadays, projection magic is only used during rituals. It's just a magic used to prepare a temporary substitute in case a real tool cannot be prepared. It was appropriate for your father to teach you 'strengthening'. You don't have many Magic Circuits to begin with, so you wouldn't be any different from a normal person if he taught you something as useless as 'projection' magic."
"―――――" I understand that. But then, what was that? The golden sword that I imagined in my head and reproduced seemed to have its original powers….
"…Hmm. Then I guess it was only by chance that I could project Saber's sword. …Come to think of it, that sword held ridiculous amounts of magical energy. It's certainly strange to imitate magical energy that's a hundred times what I have, huh?"
"…That's, uh… probably because you're compatible with 'swords'. Magi each have an attribute, right? I think it's 'swords' in your case."
"Attribute…? You mean elements like fire or water?"
"Right. One usually takes one of the elements that make up this world. They call fire normal and wind noble in the Magic Association, right? It can be one of 'earth, water, fire, wind, heaven' or one of 'wood, fire, earth, metal, water'. A magus has one of these elements, and there are others with specialized elements as well. …Most of these magi end up as specialists, though."
"And in your case, it's 'swords'. There's no variety, but you can try and be the best when it comes to swords."
"I see. Certainly." When it comes to swords, I've always had a strong interest in them. …Then what attribute would Tohsaka be? Considering her, I'm sure it's something uppity like fire or wind, but I want to ask and I'm curious.
"Hey Tohsaka. I'll ask you for reference, but what attribute do you have?" "Me? I have the attribute called the 'five elements'."
"―――――" …Um. Does that mean she has all of them…?
"Anyways, that's about all I can tell you. Projection is so useless that it's even called vanity, so don't use it too much."
"On top of that, it's suicidal to reproduce Saber's sword. It's good you succeeded that time, but it wouldn't have been strange if you had died right then. You said it earlier that the magical energy in Saber's sword is way over your capacity. You understand that reproducing that thing is easily past the limits of your Magic Circuit, right?"
"…I know. But you can't easily go past your limits. No, before that, it's the limit, so surely you can't go over it?"
"――You can. That's why magi always have death right beside them."
"Magic follows a form, so it's only natural that you can use any magic if you have the knowledge, right? Even if you know it's a miracle that you cannot reproduce, anyone can attempt it. A magus is only a source of power. Even with a small engine, you can go over the speed limit if you keep pressing on the gas. But all that lies ahead is destruction."
"It's just like that. Magi can easily go over the limit if they're prepared for self-destruction. Burning up the Magic Circuit, and ruining the nerves, but if you keep on turning the magical energy, you'll reach the miracle."
"Your projection is just that. Your body was burning after the battle because your nerves were burned out. That's the price you paid for using magic beyond your level. …After doing that, it would be natural for you to lose an arm or two."
She's angry at me. But at the same time…
"…So bear this in mind, Emiya-kun. Magic beyond one's limit will make the caster a cripple. Never do anything as dangerous as projecting Saber's sword again." She's really worried about me as well.
After warning me, Tohsaka hands me some strange medicine.
"…Well, I guess it's useless to tell you not to push yourself. It'll probably just be a little comfort, but at least take some painkillers, just in case. If it works well, it might heal your bruised skin as well." Saying that, she prepares a light green powder for me.
I drink the medicine with tea. Tohsaka rummages through her stuff and tries to prescribe me another medicine.
"……" Well. I feel sorry for Tohsaka rummaging through her stuff, but I'm bored just sitting here. So I should――

I've been trying to "nourish my body" more in the literal sense as part of trying to get back onto a routine again this year ... I've failed at taking my Medications on time most days this week, though- and I haven't taken my Vitamins at all, ha. So fat good I'm doing, really. But I have cooked myself a proper lunch every day this week so far, and I'm quite proud of that?
My usual "lunch" (if I eat at all) is basically whatever boxed or canned good that I can scrounge up, that doesn't require I go upstairs to cook, because I'm so sick of dealing with everyone else's mess in the kitchen. So my lunches haven't exactly been healthy for a long time.
Today it's a Saffron Road "Lemongrass and Basil" Simmer Sauce packet amended with with Spearmint and Basil Blend (Siam Queen, Lemondrop, Lime, Genovese, and Dark Purple Opal) from last year's garden, plus ground Cardamom, Ginger, and Mace from the Spice Box, and some Heavy Cream to thin the sauce a bit (it was super thick). I julienned some Carrots and Onions and fried those in Olive Oil (I was too lazy to go downstairs again for the Sesame Oil I forgot to grab) before doing the sauce, threw a Tuna Steak (we found a big pack of them on discount forever ago around the same time we found the Pork Chops) into the sauce to simmer until it was just right, and served it all over white Minute Rice.
It's hella good. Amazing, really; I'm going to have to remember this. But honestly, I also can't stop thinking about that soup I made earlier in the week. It was so good, too? I really may have to make a bigger version of that the next time we have another cold snap.

Man, you're so cool. I adore the way you ramble about Dr Who and ACGS, it makes me smile :) I hope your college financial situation gets sorted out soon! I'm so excited for you to be in a good place for you.
ohhhhh Robin, this is just the sweetest ask!!! thank you so much!!! I smiled so big when I opened tumblr during my lunchbreak today and saw this message ^-^ ^-^ ^-^ I'm so glad you get a smile out of my rambling!! sometimes I worry that it's annoying to people who might not know about the media it's based on, or that I should be thinking and talking about more relevant or meaningful things than stuff like DW and ACGAS... so it's really really nice to hear that's not the case, at least for you :) <3 <3
and thank you!! I'm hoping for the same!!! (and, fun fact, but I should have actually hit the halfway point for my projected savings goal today!! but since my boss forgot to put the hours for my paid vacation last week into the system, I got much much less money on my paycheck than I should've :') but it's all going to be ok, I've already spoken to him about it and he's going to submit the proper forms and get everything cleared up and the money I'm missing will get to me somehow. and when it does, it'll go straight into my college fund.)
(I'm putting the rest of this post under a break now, because I started typing and then accidentally vomited up a whole entire spiel about my complicated emotions towards college stuff, and no one wants that cluttering up their dash lolllll) (cw for emotional turmoil and general complaining/bellyaching/worrying/stressing about the future)
tbh, every time I talk about my college situation, I feel guilty. because when I step back and look at everything, I really am in such a sweet spot right now. I live at home with my family, which is (mostly) a fantastic situation--I get to eat my mom's cooking and hang out with my siblings all the time, which is great. I get to basically always bring my lunch to work (and it's usually leftovers of my mom's cooking) while my coworkers have to rush to buy something from a fast food place and swallow it down before our break is over. my family dynamic could be so much worse than it is. we attend a really sweet little church whose congregation has been so kind and welcoming to us (even if the style of the worship and teaching isn't quite what I'd like to find for myself someday). I have my own cosy little bedroom and all my books and my car and knitting and TV shows. I make seriously decent money for the kind of work I do, and most of it goes into savings for college while I have coworkers who can barely scrape by between rent and groceries and daycare bills and vehicle repairs. things aren't perfect, there are some pretty significant things I'd like to address (about myself and my brain and how it works, and some ideas about the world that I think got turned a little bit sideways at some point and need to be straightened out before they get too firmly cemented). I don't actually have any close friends who live near me (the nearest ones are at least 2 hours away and I rarely get to see them face-to-face). but honestly, I have it so good. I should be so content, I should be basking in the blessings I have right now.
yet I still complain about not being at college and talk about how badly I want to get there.
and as if all that wasn't enough, I'm petrified by the idea of things changing. I feel so weary and discouraged when I think about the idea of having to be brand-new in a brand-new place (again), not knowing anyone or how to do anything and constantly fearing that I'm messing it all up and I'm the only doofus who doesn't understand and there are all these secret common knowledge rules that everyone knows but me and if I admit to not knowing them I'll be labelled as an outcast but if I mess one of them up I'll be expelled from planet earth for having failed at humanity.
(and then also on some level, I'm terrified of moving on from the place I'm at right now, because things could be so much worse.)
I don't want to take what I have now for granted. I don't want to be unthankful for what I've been given. but I also can't be fully at peace here, because I just really really really am looking forward to the next thing. which of course makes me feel really guilty (and I tend to worry that when I do get to college, it'll all be terrible and I'll realize how wrong I was to want to hurry to that stage and my life will turn into one big Aesop's Fable and the Twilight Zone guy will appear to announce the moral of the story to everyone so they can use me as an object lesson to their Sunday school classes).
and of course, none of this makes sense and it's all one big jumbled ball of weird emotions and fears and dreams and I'm doing my best to ignore it and pray that God will just lead me where I need to go and not let me get distracted by silly things that will drag me off-course or waste my time along the way. which I guess is all I can do. but it sure doesn't come easily to me.
anyway, you didn't ask about any of that, but it just sorta... all fell out when I started typing :') I am excited to go to college, especially the college I plan to attend. it's my dream college, and I went from thinking I'd never be able to attend there to seriously planning to move into the dorms next fall. I think I'll learn so much there, and I'll meet other people--both mentors and peers--who will both affirm and influence me in meaningful ways. I can't wait to see how God uses all of this to write a grander story for me than any I could ever imagine!! but I do worry so much about pretty much everything, so even though I instinctively feel that this is the right thing to do, there are so many what-ifs and silly questions that plague me, simply because I cannot give a definite answer to them and unknown variables bother me.
