Better Hold Your Breathe || Spencer Reid
Tumblr media
Spencer Reid x Fem!reader
Summary: You had hoped to have a nice normal morning but its nothing but normal at the BAU and next thing you know you end up locked in the Evidence Room with none other than Spencer Reid, your coworker and crush. As time passes Spencer starts to have a panic attack and there was only one thing you could think of to help stop it...
TW: Fluff, Coworkers to Lovers Relationship, Kissing, Playful Banter, Jealous Spencer, Derek calling you Babygirl as a joke, Depictions of a Panic Attack due to Claustrophobia
Word Count: 2.5K?
A/N: This fic is my annual bday present for my best friend so happy bday my queen and I hope you enjoy this fic as much as I did making it for you. I hope your MGG thirst is quenched with this one even though its not really a smutty piece since I ended up changing my plot/idea last minute because I wasnt happy with my writing at all and I’m rusty so I’m sorry if its not as good as my other pieces. THIS IS ALSO MY FIRST CRIMINAL MINDS/SPENCER FIC SO SORRY IF HE SOUNDS A BIT OUT OF CHARACTER I TRIED YALL. BEFORE ANY ONE COMMENTS AND COMES FOR ME YES THIS WAS INSPIRED BY THE STILES & LYDIA KISS FROM TEEN WOLF 3x11 SO SHUT UP I KNOW!
Coffee holder in hand you used your hip to push the glass double doors to the BAU open. You had purposely gone to the coffee shop early that morning so that you could order not only yourself a cup but to also get one for Spencer, who also happened to be the one guy in the BAU that you had the biggest crush on ever since the first day you joined. By some miracle you had remembered his order by heart and it was stupid that you were remembering such little things about him but that's what you do when you really like someone that much right? You tried to convince yourself that watching him make his coffee step by step every morning in the kitchen wasn't creepy at all but next thing you knew you were taking notes about what milk he used and how many sugars he would put inside his cup.
You shook your head at the silly thought and happily you walked over to your desk with the biggest smile on your face ready to take on the rest of the day. Penelope took notice from across the room as she walked in at the same time as you and she lightly nudged your shoulder.
"Well someone looks extra chipper this morning." She commented pushing up her pink colored glasses.
"Aren't I always happy every time I walk into work?" You question raising your eyebrow at her.
"Usually you are but I'm guessing that it has to do with the fact that you bought two coffees...I'm pretty sure that's not all for you." She says with a sly smirk on her lips since she is clearly the best hacker in the BAU there is, but your crush on Spencer was blatantly obvious that she didn't need to hack into brain to know that information.
"Bold of you to assume that Penelope." You say trying to look away but you weren't always the best at hiding your feelings.
"Oh come on, you know I'm right and I'm pretty sure that coffee is for a special someone that we all know you have the biggest crush on." She says with a small roll of her eyes at how it was pointless for you to deny it at this point.
"Fine! Fine...I did get him a coffee but it's just a coffee and that's it, nothing more I promise." You say as you lie to not only yourself but to Penelope who wasn't believing a word that you were saying at all but she just gave you a look of disbelief as she saw Derek across the room and waved hello to him.
"Whatever you say Y/N. Just promise me that eventually you will make a move or else I'll do it for you." She said with a nudge to your shoulder again which just made you chuckle at her declaration.
"I pinky promise, you happy now Penelope?" You say a bit reluctantly.
"Much better. I'll see you in ten minutes in the meeting room, Hotch gave us a new case so I have to prepare." She says as she parts ways with you and heads to her office as you make your way to your desk which of course happened to be right across from Spencer's and it was extremely hard to focus all day looking at his pretty face twenty four seven.
You were surprised to see another coffee cup on your desk with a little sticky note attached to the lid and it instantly made you smile. The closer you got you set down the holder and looked across to Spencer’s desk but he was nowhere in sight. You carefully took the sticky note off the lid and started to read it to yourself.
Y/N,
Hope I got the order right and enjoy.
- Spencer Reid aka Your Favorite Desk Neighbor
His little note made you smile from ear to ear and you could help but pick up the cup and take a small sip. To your surprise he really did get your order right, you hadn't expected him to be so observant but then again he would have a job if that was the case right?
As you look up you see Spencer walking in your direction and when your eyes met his you tried your best to keep your composure and waved to him, his footsteps getting closer until he seemed to park himself right in front of your desk.
"Morning Spence. I-Um...thanks for the coffee that's really thoughtful of you." You admit taking another sip as you glanced over his beautiful facial features.
"Morning Y/N," His reply a controlled stutter, barely keeping it together while you inched closer to where he was leaning against the desk.
He accepted the pipping hot cup you bought him with a whispered thank you. You were excited to see his reaction and you had your fingers crossed that you remembered every detail of his order.
"Did I get it right?" You asked with an eager attitude and smile on your face while you tried to hide behind your coffee cup.
"Surprisingly enough you-" His words were interrupted by Derek coming up from behind and shaking his shoulders playfully.
"Good Morning you two," He said greeting us as he looked at all the coffee cups on your desk and furrowed his eyebrows.
"Looks like you two decided to throw a coffee party and not invite anyone. I'm taking this as compensation." He says with a laugh and grabbing the cup of coffee you had bought for yourself.
"I-I'll allow that but you owe me next time Derek." You say taking a sip and gritting your teeth a bit in anger but not letting it get the best of you.
"Fine I'll get you one next time babygirl," He said with a smirk and a little playful wink which made you flustered for a quick moment since it was out of character for him to ever call you that, that was always his thing with Penelope. You glanced at Spencer and his gaze seemed frustrated and angry, his knuckles almost turning white as he gripped the coffee cup harder. You couldn't quite read what was on his mind since he never was the best at showing or expressing his emotions. It was clear he was upset maybe jealous even.
"Oh come on now, I'm just playing no need to get all flustered. I'll see you both in the meeting room in ten." He said patting Spencer on the shoulder seeing as he made no comments at all about the interaction.
Before you could try and bounce back from the awkwardness Derek had instilled into your conversation with Spencer this morning felt like it couldn't get any worse until you got a call on your desk phone and you picked up.
"Hey Y/N, I need you to go into the evidence room and bring me a few boxes of evidence. Looks like its so old and outdated that its not in the computer system yet," Penelope explained over the phone.
"Penelope really?! Is it that urgent that it needs to be right now?" You question in a bit of an annoyed tone in your voice being as nothing seemed to be going as planned this morning.
"Yes Y/N it is! Pretty pretty please I won't ask you for any other favors for the whole day I promise," She pleaded and well you couldn't say no to your best friend in the whole department.
"Fine I'll go. Just text me the record box numbers and I'll go get them." You said letting out a breath as you nervously played with phone cord.
"Make sure to bring Spencer or Derek with you. The boxes are pretty heavy and good luck!" She hung up quickly before you could even say another word in protest but you accepted that this was basically defeat at this point.
You put the phone down hanging up and you give Spencer a look that makes him immediately curious. After with whatever just happened with Derek there was no way you were bringing him as a helping hand. You hated to admit it but the evidence room was extremely dark and scary looking to go into by yourself so it put you at ease that maybe Spencer would tag along.
"So...Spencer I need your help to go get some boxes from the evidence room. Are you in?" You ask taking one last sip of the delicious coffee and putting it down.
"Yeah, yeah of course I'll help." He quickly responds without hesitation as he followed your lead around the office and towards the direction of the room.
After what seemed like an eternity of silence between the two of you, he finally broke it the moment you reached your destination.
"I didn't know you and Derek had a 'thing' going on. I just always assumed him and Penelope were more into each other because of that ridiculous petname he calls her which honestly I think is a violation against having a healthy and safe work place environment-" He was fumbling his words as he rambled on about how he just couldn't imagine you and Derek being together.
"If it makes you feel any better Derek and I aren't a 'thing'. We never were. I don't know why he called me babygirl...it felt wrong but I know he was just probably joking with me to get on my nerves or something." You admit as you turn the rusty old doorknob after fussing with the keylock and open the door slowly.
"Wait...really so you aren't into him?" He questions while following your lead into the very lowly lit room that was filled with hundreds of boxes on dusty shelves.
"Make sure to hold the door open or else it will-" You spoke a bit too late because before you knew it you heard the door close and lock behind the both of you.
"-lock us in." You finish your sentence and Spencer looks behind him seeing as the door had really locked you two in there for who knows how long now.
"You should have warned me beforehand."
"How was I suppose to warn you beforehand if you had me distracted with something else?!"
"Jesus now we are stuck in here and Y/N you know how much I hate small dark enclosed spaces! This is literally my worst nightmare right now!" He exclaimed as his breathing seemed to get faster and he put his hand to his chest that was heaving up and down quickly. Spencer was having a panic attack and you weren't sure what to do.
"Hold on Spence, let me just call Penelope I'm sure she can help us." You say quickly fumbling with your phone, trying to put on the flashlight and finding her contact to call her as soon as possible.
"PENELOPE!" You scream into the phone in a panic.
"AH! Y/N why are you screaming into my headpiece right now?!"
"Spencer and I are stuck in the evidence room and he is having a panic attack right now so what do I do?! Can you get us out of here please!" You begged.
"Oh god…ok so this wasn't how this was suppose to go!" She replies back quickly.
"Penelope what are you talking about?! Did you plan this?"
"Well I wasn't planning on the door locking but I wanted to give you the right moment to make your move on Spencer but not like this!"
"Penelope I'm going to seriously unfriend you after this."
"I'm sorry! I'm gonna try and fix this right now just give me a few minutes, I will call you back right away."
"Is everything ok?" Spencer asks in-between quick and heavy breaths now that he has resorted to sitting on the floor while he tries to control his breathing but sadly all the dust and darkness isn't really helping at all and he seemed to be clutching his chest.
"We will get out of here soon, don't worry about that right now, just focus on me Spence." You say sitting in front of him and trying to do something but you didn't know what to do that could help in this situation.
His breathing only got quicker the more he seemed to panic and at that point you got an idea but maybe it was worth the risk of whatever would come afterwards but you decided to just do it anyways.
"Hey! Spencer look at me...just look at me..." Your voice trailed off as you seemed to lean in closer to him, your hands cupping his face, being pricked by his stubble as you made eye contact with him despite the lighting situation.
Without even having to think twice you quickly closed the gap between the both of you and your lips met his. At first he was completely stunned you could tell by his reaction since his teeth seemed to clash with yours but as you both eased into it a wave of relief hit his body and he was completely relaxed. You didn't let go of him only bringing him as close as humanly possible while your lips moved gently against his. Before the both of you almost ran out of breathe you slowly pulled away, his forehead leaning against yours as you were surprised with yourself that you even did something like that to begin with.
Spencer's eyes seemed to be darting everywhere looking at you but then looking all over your entire face, still in shock that you flat out kissed him.
"How...How did you do that?" He whispered out into the small space between you both.
"I-Uh...I read once that holding your breathe can stop a panic attack," You paused for a small moment almost getting lost in his brown eyes as you tried to focus on trying to shamelessly explain yourself.
"So when I kissed you...you held your breathe."
"I-I did?" He asked almost in disbelief that he even had the chance to kiss you.
"Yeah...you did."
"Thanks...you know that's really smart..." His voice trailed off almost echoing but you could help but blush and feeling absolutely flustered by the whole situation.
"Well I just-I read it somewhere and I felt a bit helpless not being able to help you so I thought this must be the only way." You twiddled your thumbs in your lap looking down as you bit your lip, it still tasting of coffee except it seemed more bitter tasting.
"Must be the only way, hmm," He hummed a bit in disbelief at your explanation but he reached his hand out to hold yours and gently squeezed.
"Do you believe now that I definitely don't have a 'thing' with Derek?" You question squeezing his hand right back as you couldn't help but smile at him despite not being able to see him too well in the darkness.
"I don't know I might need you to verify one more time just to make sure." He says with a chuckle coming off his lips.
"Wow you're much cheekier than I thought Spence." You say giggling a bit to yourself.
"You know when we finally get out of here do you maybe want to go to dinner with me sometime? I mean only if you want to-" He was still nervous and somehow stuttered out his sentence but you just pulled him in for a hug and kissed his cheek in the process.
"Yes, I would love that Spence." You say with a smile on your face as you squeeze him tightly in your arms.
Eventually Penelope came to the rescue with a giant crowbar in hand as she pried the door open, breaking the lock in the process. You had never seen Spencer happier to go into the meeting room and go straight to work in his entire life. Now that you both were finally out of the evidence room the next hurdle to jump over was to finally go on your first date with him knowing that it was confirmed that you two both had feelings for each other and it was a plus that he was a really good kisser too.

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ ❝ [GLASS TIES] ❞
request by lovely anon who loves isaac and pain. pairing: isaac lahey x reader. summary: isaac and you share the perfect summer fling. those ties don't last when summer ends. content warnings: mentions of sex and death. there's like a huge teen wolf spoiler but i mean the show is over for years now. word count: 1,4k+
Tumblr media
working during summer wasn't your ideal way to enjoy the warm days and freedom from school work, unfortunately the city library needed help and you needed all the extra crap possible to make your resume look nice, full and interesting for colleges, so you'd spend three afternoons a week helping nerdy teens and old ladies find the books they wanted, register it as they borrowed it and more recently, read to a group of children once a week.
it wasn't the worst job, it could be quite fun... but it was mostly just silence, quietness and a bit of boredom, you enjoyed having access to that many books, but even you got tired of reading after a while, so when the most beautiful guy you've ever seen waited for you to notice him, you were busy laughing at your phone like an idiot.
and he could've faked a cough or anything of the sort to call you out, but instead he decided to simply lean down and insert his head in between your face and your phone, looking directly at you as he did so and making you screech from the scare. "oh my god, what're you doing?"
"getting your lazy ass back to work, apparently." he's nonchalant, his smirk makes him annoyingly handsome, and you'd remember those eyes and those curls anywhere.
isaac lahey, a year older than you, blue eyes, golden curly locks, greek god possibly. you blinked quickly and shook your head, so nervous you couldn't even think of a comeback to his sneaky comment. "so-sorry, do you need help?"
"need a book."
"good, we have some of those here, yes." you found your breach to tease him and you took it without even thinking, trying not to panic as the words left your mouth. isaac enjoyed it though, laughing and nodding along.
"sure, yeah, sorry. werewolves, uh, the less... fictional the better." you're about the laugh it off, yeah right. but he was completely serious, if only a bit concerned about having to ask for those.
you nodded and thought for a minute, putting up key words on the system to see if you could find anything. "we have some really old ones in our more special section, but they can't leave the building. also i wouldn't call them non fictional... i mean, werewolves right?" you shrug, chuckling lightly and he's oh, extremely amused, genuine laughing and you're not sure why. "but uh... they're quite old and kinda damaged, so we don't really know what the purpose of it was."
you take him to the back of the library and shows him the two books you mentioned, they are big, old and dusty and isaac has the time of his laughing laughing at how much you were sneezing back there. "glad you're having fun, but lower your voice, funny boy." you whisper shaking your head disapprovingly, but your smile was too difficult to hide.
you go back to the reception after telling him the library rules again, thinking that would probably be it; but it wasn't.
he took the books to where you were working, taking the closest table to you. he would spend minutes on end just reading, looking beautifully focused, but then he would glance at you and catch you staring at him, isaac would then smile, tell you to go back to work as you told him to keep his voice down.
it was the most fun you had since the summer started.
Tumblr media
isaac went back to the library every day after that, shamelessly leaving if you weren't working until he memorized the days you would be there. he truly wasn't much of a library guy, but he enjoyed spending time with you there. it was quiet, much quieter than his mind and his life, but still, it wasn't boring, at least not for him.
after the first week the books didn't matter, not giving him much more information for what he was going through, making you blush though, that mattered a lot and he noticed he was quite good at it.
he was getting used to having girls looking at him more, but something in you stood out. he figured out soon it was simply the fact you've been secretly glancing at him even before he changed. turned.
you would make comments as he walked you home after your shift ended, and he knew you didn't even notice how endearing it was or how much of a tell it was, so not a bike guy anymore? or you gained some weight, right? like, not in a bad way, not that gaining weight is bad, you're just... stronger now.
isaac felt connected to you somehow because of that, you had no idea of what he was, or how bad his life was before, but still, you liked him even then, even when he was broken and you didn't even know him. knowing someone paid some attention to him back then gives him conflicted feelings, but most of them are good. warm. tender.
you make him feel soft. and normal. and wanted. and he knows he could've made his move on you much sooner, but oh, he enjoyed the pining, the blushing, the way you bit your lower lip and tucked your hair behind your ear whenever he complimented you. he enjoyed the teasing too much.
after he kissed your lips for the first time though, he figured out what he enjoyed more than the teasing.
you.
being a werewolf in a freak city meant he didn't always have the amount of time he wished he had to spend with you. but that summer, all the time he had at his dispose was spent with you. calling you, texting you, working with you.
he would take you to late night movies, bowling and ice cream, so terribly charming even when he awkwardly ended up meeting your mom after sneaking in and cuddling with you all night, she adored him. gave him a pass to sleep over as long as he didn't sneak in and the door to your room was always open.
you both followed the rules strictly, but your mom wasn't a light sleeper, so what started with you guiding his hand down your pants ended up with him taking your virginity. slowly, quietly, tenderly. he locked eyes with you and didn't glance away for one second that night. told you words that were probably too soon to be said.
the three words left your lips like a secret, matching his.
Tumblr media
things changed when summer ended, school coming at you in full speed.
and maybe it was your fault, with all ap classes, extracurricular, volunteer works you put yourself through, or maybe it was the naivety of not asking what you two were, of not labeling what you both shared before the outside world came into play.
or maybe it was isaac's fault, and the way his outspoken personality sometimes served as a shield to his secretive actions. whatever it really was, you would barely see each other at school, each with your own little friend group, different classes, you were lucky to catch him in the hallways, where he would smile at you and touch your hand lightly as if you two were a secret.
were you? not exactly, but isaac wanted to keep you away from the mess, away from the killing, the blood, the fear. he didn't want to taint what you both had, so the more you didn't have time, the more he got away from you, slipped from your fingers.
and before you could even fight it, try anything to keep him, there was allison.
laughing with him, touching his arms, knowing things about him you would never dream about, you could see it, even from afar, the eyes of two people who connected.
confidants.
it broke you. but you couldn't do anything about it, you felt like it was your fault, as if your oh so busy academic life pushed him away. you let him go, no more texts, no more looking for a glance and a soft touch pass the hallways.
for weeks it was almost like it never happened, like your life was ever the same, like it didn't change past summer. of course you would go through the texts you shared from time to time, shed a few tears and pretend to get over it. and it worked.
until he was at your door sobbing. bloody. completely lost.
allison was dead. and nothing would ever be the same again.

TEEN WOLF INCORRECT QUOTES PART 1
——————————————————————————
Liam: I'm kind of crushing on someone, but I'm worried about telling you who it is, because you're not going to like it
Stiles: Just rip the bandage off.
Liam: It's Theo.
Stiles: Put the bandage back on
Derek: I trust Scott.
Peter: You think he knows what he's doing?
Derek: I wouldn't go that far.
Malia, struggling to keep upright in their 1 inch heels: Yeah, I-I don't really think heels are for me
Lydia, pointing at her and walking flawlessly in sparkly golden 6 inch heels: WEAK.
Liam: crushes are the worst. whenever i'm near mine, i start acting stupid
Theo: pfft you're always acting stupid
Liam: yeahhhh, don't think about that too hard
Theo:
Isaac: Stiles, could you pass the salt?
Stiles: Isaac, could you pass away?
Scott (to the new pack members): This is normal.
Liam: I'm kind of a handful
Alec: I'm also a handful
Scott: I have two hands!
Theo and Liam: *staring into each other's eyes*
Theo: *opens soda loudly*
Liam: We're having a moment!
Theo: and I'm having a soda
Mason: Well, you know what they say, when life gives you lemons...
Corey: Put them in a facemask
Nolan: Use them in a battery
Hayden: Throw them at people
Theo: Squirt the juice in life's eyes. Steal life's wallet and assume its identity. Now you are life and hold dominion over all. Your enemies cower at your feet.
Liam: *scared*
Mason: .... make lemonade, guys. The answer was make lemonade.
The pack: Malia, that was highly illegal.
Malia: Oh this is so sad alexa play despacito
Liam: We played Scrabble. It was a nightmare.
Scott: Scrabble? Scrabble's great.
Liam: Not when you're playing with Lydia, it's not. She put words like "ephemeral" and I put "dog."
Stiles: You're only dating Liam to annoy me!
Theo: No, I'm dating Liam because I like him. Annoying you is just an added bonus.

I just wanted to say, yesterday I sat down and binge-read all your Timkon fics, as well as most of the WIPS, and I BADLY want to write some now. I've never really written Tim, tho, since I'm more used to writing Jason. Do you have any tips, or bits of Tim and Kon characterization you consider especially important? (The WIP I've made on my head, if it helps, is (Daemon AU) comics!Tim ends up on Young Justice!Cartoon universe, and he's very, very weirded out by how different Kon is to Conner, and very pissed off that this Conner gets a Daemon while his Kon doesn't have one.)
tbh it kinda depends on where you're trying to go with the fic idea, I'd say? Also why Conner DOES have a daemon and Kon doesn't, probably. Also-also, does Conner even actually have a daemon or is Tim just confused about Wolf or something.
Generally speaking, though, the thesis of Tim is that he is a ride-or-die guy who really fucking COMMITS when he makes a decision. Sure, he'll stalk Batman. Sure, he'll introduce himself to Nightwing and tell him he knows his secret identity. Sure, he'll put on the suit Jason died in to go save Batman and Nightwing from their own stupid selves. Sure, he'll be Batman's emotional support sidekick and lead Young Justice and the Teen Titans and try to clone his dead best friend and run around the planet solo to save Bruce from the timestream. Why not! SOMEBODY'S gotta do it!!
"Somebody's gotta do it" is a lot of Tim's motivation, from what I can tell, haha. He also comparmentalizes really well, is a very talented and skilled detective as his defining Robin skill, uses a bo staff as his signature weapon after convincing Lady Shiva to train him and was the dude who was smart enough to add pants to the Robin suit, and one of his more iconic lines is I think Cassie going, "you lied to Starfire?" and him answering, "I lie to Batman". Which he does. Frequently. Frequently and a LOT-ly. To be fair, Bruce is also a fucking liar, so he deserves it. Tim, however, actually has friends he will ADMIT are his friends without having to be waterboarded into it during an active apocalypse-level crisis.
The boy has no chill. He DISGUISES his lack of chill, but it is fucking nonexistent and the ONLY reason he looks "reasonable" is because his besties are the teen idol superclone with limited life experience and Stephanie "welp my dad's gone supervillain so I'm gonna go kick him in the dick with my intermediate gymnastics" Brown. And then there's Cassie "I'm just gonna ask Zeus for superpowers, natch" Sandsmark.
Also Bart. Also Bart is a thing. Bart is SO MUCH a thing.
So yeah, Tim is a full-stop no-holds-barred insane person, he's just also a better liar than any of his friends. Like so, so much better. AT LEAST THEY HAVE SUPERPOWERS, TIM. AT LEAST THEY'VE GOT THAT. He figured out Bruce's secret identity at NINE 'cuz he went to the circus as a toddler and Dick Grayson's flips were just that sick, and then just didn't tell anybody for FOUR FUCKING YEARS. Four fucking YEARS!! ACTUAL FUCKING YEARS. He just didn't think it was relevant, I guess?!!? So instead he just stalked them with his camera and took cool pics. So many pics. So, so many pics. And he skateboards.
Also he and Kon fucking could NOT stand each other at first because Kon was used to being a solo act and didn't want to answer to anyone else and Tim lacked the ability to convince him to listen to him and they just had VERY different personalities and priorities, and also for a little while in there Match was fucking shit up by pretending to BE Kon, and frankly it's a fucking miracle Tim and Kon didn't kill each other before they ever got to be Titans together, the way they totally failed to get along for the first YJ run.
Seriously, I think they actually had a literal fucking fistfight on Apokolips once, I think that ACTUALLY happened. In the middle of a literal WAR that happened. Tim. Tim, you KNOW better, buddy.

I'm taking this as an opportunity to continue to spread my headcanon that Warriors knits as a hobby. I think Legend also embroiders (with a preference for cross stitch). This is their bonding activity.
I loved writing this little head cannon @gryphonlover and it stopped me writing any whump for once!
I hope you like it.
Hobby Boys
It had been a long day in Twilight's Hyrule. The chain had fought a monster hoard on the edge of Kakariko village. No major injuries to report, only a few cuts and bruises. Although Time had suggested they stay in Kakariko and set off the following day, Twilight wanted to get back to Ordon and check on his neighbours as soon as possible. Not to mention he had been neglecting Epona the last few days and decided a trip to the spring outside his home town would be a nice treat for her.
Wars agreed to the plan reluctantly. He had had enough of walking for days on end, so had most of the others, though they kept their opinions to themselves. They all knew what it was like to end up back in their own eras. The desire to get home to familiar territory and all the comforts that come with it. Wars understood Twi's enthusiasm to get moving, but he didn't have to be happy about it.
While they walked the sun began to dip towards the horizon. They hadn't been to Twilight's era for a while, but Wars was fairly certain they weren't exactly close to Twi's village.
"Twi, I'm not sure we're going to reach Ordon before nightfall," Wars observed, trotting forwards to catch up with their rancher.
"It's okay, we should be there before midnight at least," Twi replied brightly.
"Come on Twi, I know you want to see home as badly as the rest of us. But," Wars lowered his voice, "Wind and Legend are putting on brave faces but that fight definitely took it out of them back there. We should really stop and make camp. Ordon will still be there in the morning, I promise."
Wars urged his friend, laying a comforting hand on his shoulder. Twilight let out a long sigh as he glanced over his shoulder at the rest of the Chain. Wind and Four were walking hand in hand, but the longer Twi looked the more he could see the exhaustion in the teen's eyes. His grip on Four's hand was weak and he dragged his feet along the path. Legend was much the same and Twi had to admit he was being rather selfish.
"Hey guys, I don't think we'll reach Ordon before nightfall. Let's make camp and set out again in the morning after a good rest," Twi announced.
Twi's decision was met with more than a handful of cheers and greatful sighs from the others. Perhaps he had misjudged the distance from Kakariko to Ordon on foot, especially travelling as a large group rather than on his own.
The chain found a small grove of trees to use as shelter as they set up their camp. Wild set about cooking a quick supper for everyone while the others laid out their bed rolls and organised a watch rota. Wind wolfed down the stew Wild cooked up then instantly crashed on his bed roll. Time decided to scratch the teen off the watch rota and let him have a full night's sleep.
Wars was on first watch but not everyone had gone to sleep. Legend sat on a tree stump facing away from the circle of their camp. He seemed to be working away at something in his lap. With a frown Wars got to his feet to see what the Vet was up to.
"You okay Lege?" Wars asked softly, reaching out to lay a hand on the young adventurer's shoulder.
Before Wars could reach him Lege shot to his feet and spun around, hiding whatever he was holding behind his back.
"I'm fine! Hylia! Why do you have to be so nosey Cap?!" Legend exclaimed defensively, his ears turning pinker than the streak in his hair.
"Sorry," Wars replied, taking a step back. Though he thought Legend's reaction was particularly hostile, even for him. "I thought you might be hurt, I was just checking on you. You seemed quite exhausted by our last fight."
"Well I'm not hurt and yeah I'm a bit tired, but I just wanted some alone time. Is that too much to ask?" Legend retorted, there was still venom in his voice but Wars couldn't figure out where it was coming from.
"No it's not. Forgive me for worrying about you!" Wars scoffed, turning on the spot and heading back towards the fire.
He plonked himself down on the ground and pulled his bag towards himself. Legend sat down on his tree stump once again but kept his eyes on Wars for a moment. When he saw the Captain pull out a ball of wool and what looked like a half finished scarf Legend's squinting eyes went wide.
"You knit!" He burst out.
Sky snorted a breath in his sleep and Legend was afraid he might have woken him. He and Wars both checked the others were still asleep before either of them spoke.
"Yes, why do you sound so surprised? Everyone has a hobby don't they? Most of the others play instruments, but I never learnt. So I knit instead, it helps me relax and, it reminds me of my soldiers."
Wars eyes dropped towards the fire as he explained. Legend thought his friend looked sad for a moment. Curious, he moved a little closer to the fire, stepping into its circle of light and warmth.
"Your soldiers?" Legend asked.
"Yeah, one of the guys in my first squad taught me to knit. He said it helped him relax after training. But it also kept his fingers busy when his mind would race through the more terrible aspects of soldiering. When he itched to hit something or throttle the next person to speak, he had his hands full with something that helped him relax instead. I picked up the same habit and now I do a little bit almost every night. When I finish this scarf I think I'll give it to Wind, it's in his colours after all."
Wars held up the woolen scarf for Legend to see. Though the night was dim and the orange glow of the fire obscured the colours a little, Legend could see the scarf had been knitted in pale blue and white bands. Wars had even managed to use a stitch that replicated the shapes of cresting waves which Legend thought was impressive.
"Wow, that's actually pretty neat," he admitted.
"Thanks."
"Why haven't you shown any of us this before?" Legend probed, plopping himself down to sit cross legged in front of the fire.
"Would you have been so nice about it if the others were conscious?" Wars asked, raising an eyebrow.
"True. Sorry, I probably shouldn't admit to that," Legend replied, hanging his head a little.
"It's alright, the other soldiers used to tease me too. Even the ones I used to knit stuff for. But they never meant anything by it. I'm sure you wouldn't either," Wars shrugged, as he picked up his needles and tried to remember where he was in his pattern.
"I suppose it would make me a bit of a hypocrit anyway," Legend mumbled.
"Why?" Wars said slowly, eyeing the bundle Legend had scrunched up in his lap. "What are you trying to hide Lege? It can't be any worse than a Captain knitting scarves!" He scoffed.
Legend hesitated a moment, but Wars was right, perhaps there was no harm in sharing. If the others were awake he and Wars were usually the ones to tease each other for things. If the Captain had trusted him with his secret, perhaps he should return the favour. Legend sighed and opened out the piece of fabric in his lap.
It was a beautiful piece of purple velvet with what appeared to be gold thread woven into it. As Legend held it up for Wars to see he could clearly make out the embroidered patterns of leaves and flowers in the shining golden thread. Tiny little crosses made up the shapes and came together to make quite a beautiful image.
"Rav's favourite colours, hopefully I can finish it before the next time I get to see him," Legend explained.
"It's beautiful Lege," Wars breathed, as he studied the intricate stitches. "How long have you been working on it?"
"Few weeks. Usually takes me about a month to do a piece this big, but I'm working all the hours I can spare on it. Which is usually just when I'm on watch and I won't get distracted by you lot."
"Hmm," Wars nodded, drawing how eyes away from the embroidery and up to Legend's blushing face. "It's really good Lege, I would never have teased you for this. I'm impressed. And it's sweet you're making it for Ravio. I'm sure he'll love it."
"You mean it?" Legend asked, suspicious of how nice Wars was being towards him.
"Cross my heart," Wars replied, making a cross over his chest with his knitting needles. "Honestly Lege it's beautiful. Wish I could embroider. I've been meaning to fix my scarf for ages."
"What do you mean fix it?" Legend asked, he hadn't noticed any damage to Wars' prized blue scarf.
"Yeah, with all the travelling we do through woods and swamps the design on the end has got pretty roughed up. It's supposed to be the royal crest, but quite a lot of the stitches have come loose or disappeared completely. This scarf means a lot to me and I'm ashamed I haven't kept it in very good condition."
Wars pulled the loop of his scarf up to his chin and rubbed his skin against the soft fabric. He'd done his best to keep it clean and stitch up any tears in the fabric, but he didn't have the skill to restore the crest.
"I could fix it for you if you want?" Legend suggested with a shrug.
"You mean it?!" Wars replied brightly, the firelight dancing in his eager eyes.
"Sure. How about you knit me a scarf to give to Ravio as well in payment?"
"Alright that's a deal," Wars nodded, a bright smile spread across his face.
Legend still felt a little embarrassed about his hobby being discovered. But Wars had been so impressed by his hidden talents, Legend was starting to feel better about it. The fact that he could put it to good use helping preserve something important to one of his brothers, even one of the more annoying ones, warmed his heart.
The pair sat together by the rest of the fire for a good few hours, working on their projects and talking quietly together. Sharing stores of things they had created and the friends they had given them to. Unsurprisingly most of Legend's pieces had been given to Ravio, but he also admitted he had left secret little embroideries on some of the Chain's stuff. Little cross stitched flowers or fairies on their packs or blankets. None of them had noticed but Legend didn't do it for praise or approval. He did it because they were his brothers and each piece of work was like giving each of them a little bit of himself to carry with them.
***
As their journey wore on Legend and Wars often found themselves passing time together. During watch or whenever they got separated from the group, they would comfort each other by asking about their latest projects. One morning Wars had woken to find his scarf neatly folded by his bedroll, the immaculate crest staring up at him.
"How did you manage it?" Wars whispered to Legend, that afternoon while they were walking through some woods in Time's era.
"Little bit of time and a little bit of my magic touch," Legend replied with a wink.
"Thank you Link," Wars uttered, flashing Legend a warm smile.
"You're welcome Captain," Legend nodded, before skipping off to walk beside Hyrule.
Wars smiled at the back of Legend's head, thinking about how many rows of stitches he had left to do in Ravio's new scarf.

Hsr age headcanons except I also explain my reasonings bc I read everyones lore to get it more accurate.
(Also, a few things to note that will be relevant to my explainations: Some of these I'm not 100% certain of the age groups I put them in here, so some might not be as specific. Blade will be considered his age prior to being mara-struck for the sake of this post. Imbibitor Lunae is a stand in for Dan Feng.)
Let's begin, shall we?
Child (6-12)
Hook: I believe she's around 7-8. She's very obviously a kid, but I don't think she's like, a toddler or anything. She's smart enought to pull the clever little tricks she does, and has enough awareness to understand some harder topics (like Fersman's declining health and the reality of her birth parent's deaths).
Clara: I originally figured she was around 14 or so, but since one of her stories claim she's of similar age to Hook, and one of Hook's stories has her note Clara is a few years older than her, I think I'd put her around 11-12. Maaaaaybe 10, but that feels a bit too young for her.
Early to mid teens (13-17)
Arlan: Probably around 17 or so. We know he's younger than Asta, who met him when he was a kid and offered him a job for her family, and she also mentions that she took him in during her companion mission. Herta also says in her voice line about him that he's probably one of the "exceptionally gifted" kids Asta gave money to.
Lynx: She's much younger than Gepard and Serval, obviously, but she's also probably around the same age as Pela (who is confirmed to be 16) given how close they are and how they interact. Her companion mission also largely revolves around her trying to escape her older siblings protectiveness, which I feel is relatable to a lot of teens lol.
Late teen (18-19)
Silver Wolf: Tbh I don't have any solid justification for this, mostly just vibes. She's definitely younger than Kafka, but other than that I don't really have much to go off of. Probably 19, but I could see her maybe being early 20s too.
Guinaifen: I'm not completely sure about this one tbh. She's definitely a teenager, she says she's close to but not yet an adult to Bailu after we chase her and the Heliobus possessing her. She's also very close friends with Sushang, (who is confirmed to be around 16-17) so it makes sense for Gui to be a similar age too. The thing that's tripping me up is that one of her stories says she spent all her teenage years on the planet she lived on prior to coming to the Luofu, which would make her 19 at minimum. It could also just be exaggerating, or not counting 18 & 19 as teen years (that one seems unlikely though).
Young adult (20+)
Trailblazer: Well, obviously, Trailblazer is actually like a few months old at most seeing as we start the game by being "born" but, ya know. They're treated as an adult by everyone around them, not to mention they're clearly meant to be around the same age as March and Dan Heng, who are also depicted as adults (Dan Heng has been seen drinking in official art, for example). I think maybe like, around 20-22 would fit.
March: There's what I mentioned previously of course (being close in age to Trailblazer and Dan Heng), but the whole "girls like me/my age all like this and this" thing is a very typical mindset of late teens & very young adults. The way she talks about taking pictures of food in one of her stories also sound very much like how a young adult would explain it lolol. Like Trailblazer, probably around 20-22. Tbh I'm not sure how to explain my reasoning when basing it off of her behaviour without it sounding like I'm saying all girls her age do this, I'm not 😅 but it is common enough I feel like it adds to her feeling that age, ya know?
Asta: As mentioned with Arlan, we know she's notably older than him. I would say her position on the space station means she has a decent amount of life experience for her to do it so well, but this is Hoyoverse and anyone can do anything regardless of age, so that doesn't really work lol. That said, she clearly has had the position for a long time, so even if she wasn't an adult when she started, she definitely should be now. Probably around 23-24.
Bronya: She's been in the Silvermane Guards for long enough to be well-known and trusted for her skills, and with how easily she took up the position of Supreme Guardian, she has a lot of public faith and trust as well. She needs to have been serving for a good amount of years, to get all that. That said, I do think she started young, so I'd put her at around early-to-mid 20s. probably around 23-24 like Asta.
Seele: Canonicly around the same age as Bronya, so probably about 23-24 again.
Luka: Not much concrete to go off of, but he's probably around the same age as Seele given their interactions. He's also obviously an adult, or Hook would've dropped the 'honourary' part and just make him a proper Mole lolol. Around 23-24 again.
Topaz: In her voice line about Bronya she says they're around the same age. March also notes that she's pretty young for an executive, and her character stories explain that she started working for the IPC at a VERY young age. Probably around 23-24 yet again.
Adult (30+)
Sampo: He's a notorious scammer who's being doing his work in Belobog for a long enough time to become notorious, so him being in his 30s seems likely. I don't have any other reasoning besides that, really. probably around mid 30s, like 35-36 or something.
Himeko: She had already finished college when she found the express, so she was already an adult then. It's been many years since then, so she's definitely not some young 20-something year old lolol. probably mid-to-late 30s, like 37-38 or the like.
Gepard: Mid-to-late 30s. He's younger than Serval, so he's below 40 (not that I really thought he was middle-aged anyway) and he's probably older than Bronya, as in one of her stories he comforts her after the first death to happen under her leadership, clearly having already gotten used to it. Also, apparently he has a bachelor's degree? (According to the fandom wiki's trivia section). Anyway. Around 37-38 probably.
Luocha: I couldn't really find anything that indicates anything in particular, so I'm just gonna say he's mid 30s based off of vibes alone. Like 35-36 or something.
Kafka: Her age is only ever stated as "unknown" and, like Luocha, I couldn't find anything that indicates anything in particular. So I'm just gonna say she's mid-to-late 30s like Himeko and call it a day. 37-38.
Argenti: His character stories show a variety of different scenes throughout his journey as a Kmight of Beauty, so he has experienced a great deal. Mid 30s, probably. Like 35-36. I don't have much else to go off of.
Middle aged and beyond (40+)
Herta: We know she's like, really old. Like really really old. I don't know exactly HOW old, but old. I think she's still within a human lifespan though, so maybe like 70-80 or something. Physically speaking though, she herself states that her current puppet body looks "70% like I did as a child" so. Yeah. Baby grandma.
Natasha: She raised Seele and was the main caretaker at the orphanage she grew up in, so she ain't exactly young (despite what hyvs aversion to portraying older people properly will tell you). Probably late 40s to early 50s. 49-50 maybe.
Serval: Canonicaly the same age as Cocolia, who raised Bronya for most of her life. Bronya also recognizes Serval as Cocolia's old friend from when she was a child. Mid-to-late 40 probably. 45-46 maybe.
Blade: Yingxing is refered to as 'middle-aged' in-game at around the time it all went down, and he's shown with visible aging and with grayed hair (that is, assuming Blade's current black hair is his natural haircolor?). Probably late 40s, like 48-49 or something.
Canon age
Pela: 16, as stated by Lynx in her & Lynx's companion mission. People have pointed out that this is a plot hole due to other information we have about Pela, but 1) the only thing that goes against this is the claim she was a founding member of Serval's band, which I can 100% believe is either a mistranslation or a case of a writer not cross-referencing properly. (also, I don't remember where this is ever claimed in-game, so if anyone can point me to it I'd appreciate it.) And 2) her being a teen makes more sense with how she's written, imo, so I don't really care if it's actually a plot hole.
Sushang: One of her stories says she's "around 16 to 17 years old". Obviously, this isn't her REAL age since she's a Xianzhou native, but it is the age she is equivalent to for a short-life species.
Welt: 80+. He arrived in the hsr universe at the time of APHO, which takes place in 2025. Since Welt was born in 1947, this would make him 78. While we don't know exactly how long he's been here, he seems to have been here a quite a while, so, 80+ it is.
Long-life species
(equivalent to) Child (6-12)
Bailu: She's been described as a child many, many times, including by herself (multiple times). Although she's probably older than she looks, as both she and several others remark that she has trouble growing bigger for some unknown reason. I'd say maybe around 10-11.
(equivalent to) Early to mid teen (13-17)
Qingque: She reads to me like a 14 year old being forced to take up a summer job by her parents because 'you need to get experience so you can get a job easier when you're older!'. Actually I think that's literally what's going on except summer jobs don't exist on the Luofu so now she has a full-time job at 14 years old. Yeah I don't actually have anything else to go off of other than the level of control her parents have over her life.
Yanqing: His character stories say he is 1) not yet of age (so below 18) and 2) a teenager. Very simple. Not sure why people are arguing about his age so much when it literally says right there in the game that he is a teenage boy. Probably 15.
Huohuo: Honestly not much to go off of. Probably around 14, based solely on vibes.
(equivalent to) Young adult (20+)
Dan Heng: Depicted as a young adult of similar age to Trailblazer and March, as mentioned previously. Pretty simple. That said, I do want to note that one of Blade's stories describe him as a teen. But, based on the way it's written, this seems to be Blade's first encounter with him, so it's probably not accurate to Dan Heng's current age.
Tingyun: Her stories describe her as pretty young, but the way she carried herself and the sort of businesses she did makes me think she was at least 20. Like 20-21 probably.
Fu Xuan: Once again, not much concrete to go off of. Her stories give me the impression she joined the divination comission rather young, and I think she's been the master diviner for quite a while now. Maybe early 20s, like 22-23 or something.
(equivalent to) Adult (30+)
Dan Feng: We don't really know how old Dan Feng was when everything went down other than that he was older than Dan Heng is currently. I'd put him in mid 30s, solely on vibes. I mean, he got engaged and quite literally made a child, so I'd say 30 fits. Ignoring the fact neither of those things have much to do with his age at all. 34-35 maybe.
Hanya: Honestly I have no clue and her stories just confused me. She has the vibes of a 30-something year old so I put her here. My view on her age will probably change once Xueyi is out if only bc I might be able to figure Xueyi's age out better and Hanya would then be somewhere under that.
(equivalent to) Middle aged and beyond (40+)
Jing Yuan: Listen. He's seen shit. He has lived a long ass time. And it's canon he basically raised Yanqing, he's a dad ya'll. probably early-to-mid 40s, like 44-45 maybe. I don't know.
Yukong: She's old. Like actually old. Technically much younger than Jing Yuan, but since foxians lifespans are shorter than other long-life species, she's equivalent to a lot older than he is. She's 249 and foxians live up to 300. She's OLD. I'd say she's like 70 or something.
Jingliu: Also old. She's like, 2000 years old or something, she's a grandma. Probably equivalent to up to 80-something. Except she looks 30 bc Mara. And also long-life species don't actually age past a certain point, so she physically is not capable of looking above 30.

Tumblr media
***
"You know, I'm surprised this old bucket of bolts still works. When your dad told me you drove it to school every morning I almost couldn't believe him- but here it is." You hum. Stiles stops in his tracks, and for a moment Scott does too.
"Y/n?!" Stiles gapes at you.
"Yeah, you gonna just stand there catching flies in your mouth or give your cousin a hug?" You ask. Before Stiles can get to you though, Scott takes off into a full run towards you, lifting you into his arms and spinning in two full circles before putting you down again.
"What the hell just happened? Who are you?" You narrow your eyes at Scott suspiciously.
"Come on- it's me Scott." He chuckles.
"You're saying that and you have his face but the Scott McCall I know wouldn't have been able to pick me up like I weigh nothing and spin me around so what'd you do with him?" You place your hands on your hips. Stiles finally runs at you, nearly tackling you with the force of his hug.
"Dude you have no idea what kind of things we've seen. You're literally not going to believe me when I start telling you all the stuff that's happened in the last couple years, it's nuts." Stiles tells you.
"What'd you do? Start going to parties?" You ask.
"No. Well actually, we have been to a couple but no. Parties are the least of our worries man we're fighting evil, Scott's a werewolf-" Your hand comes up to stop Stiles from continuing his rant.
"What!?" You blink at him.
"Scott's a werewolf. That's why he could pick you up so easily." Stiles says entirely too casually for your liking.
"I would've settled for he's been in the gym lately. Werewolf?! That's what we're going with?"
"I told you you wouldn't believe the stuff we've seen." Stiles shrugs.
"I need some explanations." You frown.
"It all started when Stiles did what Stiles does best." Scott says.
"Stick his nose in something he has no business getting involved in?" You ask.
"Correct." Scott nods.
"Hey it was very important." Stiles protests.
"For the cops maybe!" Scott scoffs.
"The cops? What the hell did you two get into?" You blink at them.
"Well we were in the woods investigating... something and my dad caught me." Stiles says.
"But not Scott?"
"I took off. But trying to avoid Stilinski got me in a bit of a- situation. Something bit me." Scott says.
"Something?" You frown.
"Technically someone. Peter Hale." Scott says.
"Peter Hale?! I thought the Hales died in a fire." You frown.
"All but 2. Derek and Peter." Stiles says.
"Derek Hale is still alive?" You gasp.
"Yes, he disappeared after the fire but he came back a couple of years ago." He nods.
"And his uncle turned me into a werewolf. It started with small changes, better hearing, I didn't need my inhaler, I could- do flips and run fast and my reflexes were suddenly so much better. Derek tried to help, kind of. Peter wanted to use me for revenge. And now we're here." Scott shrugs.
"And now we're here." You hum. "I can't believe the Hales are werewolves. So what's this about evil you've been fighting?" You ask.
"The list is long and getting longer. Actually, you know what maybe you can weigh in on something for us." Stiles says.
"Stiles-" Scott warns.
"Sure, what is it?" You ask.
"There's a new guy in town, Theo Raeken." Stiles says.
"Theo Raeken- that name sounds so familiar." You frown.
"He lived here when we were younger, and we were all friends but after his sister died he and his parents moved outta town. So he's new but not new. You've met him for sure on one of your visits. So technically he's not new he just moved back." Scott tells you.
"Okay and is that a good thing or a bad thing?" You ask.
"Good." Scott says at the same time Stiles says,
"Bad."
"Don't start Stiles." Scott rolls his eyes.
"No no you think I'm a paranoid skeptic right? Well, Y/n has no preconceived notions here, she doesn't even remember him so she can be our neutral third party." Stiles says.
"I can see you two are on the same page about this that's great. Alright, Stiles what's your problem with this kid?" You ask.
"Some necessary background first, Scott's an alpha."
"Okay- I've read enough books to know what that means. That's like a pack leader. Yes?" You ask.
"Yes. Usually, you have to kill someone to become an alpha." Stiles nods.
"Scott did you-?"
"No!" Scott says.
"Scott's very anti-killing anyone ever. Even if they deserve it." Stiles shrugs.
"Stiles!"
"What?! I support your endeavors."
"So how did Scott become an alpha?" You ask.
"Apparently some people can become alphas by sheer force of will and that's what Scott did. He needed to protect the people so he made it happen. It means he's what they call a True Alpha." Stiles says.
"Okay?" You nod.
"See Theo says he came back because word's getting around that Scott's an alpha and he just had to come back to become part of Scott's pack but there's something about him that doesn't sit right with me. He doesn't seem like the same person we knew." Stiles says.
"Okay, so Theo's a werewolf?" You clarify.
"Yes." He nods.
"Okay great and I know we've established Scott was bitten right? Was Theo? Or are his parents also werewolves? Is that even possible? Can lycanthropy be genetic?"
"It is possible for it to be genetic, yes, the Hales are genetic werewolves, but Theo was bitten, so his parents are not werewolves to our knowledge." Scott says.
"And Theo's your age?"
"Correct." Stiles nods.
"So there's one detail I'm struggling with here." You say.
"What is it?" Scott asks.
"How did Theo get his parents to move him back to Beacon Hills?"
"What-" Stiles frowns.
"Theo's a kid. Parents only move for like 3 reasons, work, the wellbeing of their child, or extenuating family circumstances. I doubt he went up to his parents and said 'hey mom, hey dad, I'm a werewolf and there's a new alpha in our old home town so we have to move back there because I have to be where he is' so why did his parents move back to Beacon Hills? Because the story you're telling me makes it seem like it was his decision and that's not how that would work unless he's emancipated and came here alone." You say.
"Do I tell you have much I love you?" Stiles asks.
"Not since you were 12." You scoff.
"I will say it more often."
"You do not have to." You shake your head.
"Oh I do. Because you are a genius. Do you see what I mean Scott?! She's right, that's weird."
"I mean, maybe, but we don't know the circumstances. It might not be as suspicious as it sounds." Scott says.
"But it's weird! It sounds suspicious! He's weird!" Stiles says.
"Okay wait has he done anything worth being- hostile towards him?" You ask.
"Well I think-"
"No, Stiles it's a yes or no question has he done anything?" You ask.
"Not yet." He frowns.
"Well unfortunately a few discrepancies aren't enough to label him a supervillain, but someone should get to the bottom of the moving situation because those are some gaping holes."
"See?" Stiles huffs at Scott.
"If he's a bad guy he will eventually show his hand, just be ready for if it happens. And Scott, I know Stiles is- eccentric but you two have been friends for a long time. He's strange but his intuition is hardly ever wrong about these things so don't dismiss." You say.
"Thank you. I think?" Stiles says.
"Look we have bigger issues than Theo right now anyway." Scott sighs.
"What does that mean?" You frown.
"Chimeras." He tells you.
"I think I need a bit more information. Because I know what the word means, but to my knowledge chimeras are cats or dogs that have a mixed phenotype. Like a cat with the fur of a calico and an orange tabby." You say.
"Same concept- kind of. Someone's been making supernatural hybrids. Mixing the DNA of different ones and turning teenagers into mutants." Scott explains.
"Turning teenagers into mutants?" You blink.
"Yeah- we're not sure why but we know that's what they're doing." Stiles nods.
"And this is just the kind of shit that just goes on in this town?" You frown.
"Sometimes." Stiles shrugs.
"More often than not." Scott adds.
"Why did Beacon Hills get interesting after I stopped visiting every year?" You scoff. Your mom and stepdad used to insist on spending as much time with family as possible, especially after your stepdad's sister, Stiles' mom, died, so summers were spent here in Beacon Hills and winters were spent with your mom's family usually but it got harder to keep up with when you got to high school and started other things so you haven't been back here for a while.
"Well, you're back now! And right in the middle of some chaos." Stiles says.
"Are you staying with Stiles and Sheriff Stilinski while you're here?" Scott asks.
"I always do." You shrug.
You spend the afternoon with Scott and Stiles, learning so much about the way they navigate the discord that seems to now be stereotypical for Beacon Hills. The next couple of weeks are honestly wilder than you could've expected, even with Stiles and Scott's occasional storytimes about the last few years.
"Okay, so we have to go to Eichen. You wanna come with?" Stiles asks and you wish this wasn't a phone call so he could see just how confused you are.
"Eichen as in the psychiatric hospital with questionable at best practices?" You ask.
"Yeaaahhh we'd avoid it if we could but- some shit's going down and honestly we could use your help."
"What do you mean by 'some shit's going down'? I mean- sure I'll help but I need more details."
"Lydia's trapped at Eichen house and we need to rescue her."
"I'm guessing you have a plan?" You ask.
"We- do. Get ready I'll be at the house in like 5 minutes."
"Okay?" You frown. Stiles hangs up before you can ask another question so you throw on a jacket and your sneakers just before Stiles honks outside. The explanation of their plan is very much insane and as you walk through the halls of Eichen with Stiles and the infamous Theo, who he can't stand, all you can think about is how absolutely unbelievable this all is. Even when Theo kicks down a huge ass door and Stiles rushes towards Lydia. You watch him fuss over her as they have a hushed conversation that you pointedly try not to eavesdrop on. Until of course, because nothing normal happens in this town, a shirtless man covered in soot? Or ash? Or dirt? It's hard to tell in these tunnels, but he rounds the corner with glowing orange eyes and beelines it to Lydia and Stiles.
"Stiles!" You shout but the dust-covered man shoves him away too quickly and wraps himself around Lydia, erupting into flames as she screams into his chest. "Woah- why is that man on fire!?" You stumble back as the man picks Lydia up and carries her out of the room.
"Don't worry, he's on our side." Stiles says as he dusts himself off and follows the man.
"That's great to know but that doesn't explain why he's emitting flames."
"He's a hellhound."
"I hate that you said that like that's normal. A hellhound?!"
"You know- at a later date, I'll just give you an appendix of every single creature we know of- allies and enemies because I realize waiting for things to come up organically makes for a lot of this." Stiles says.
"I can't believe y'all just know people that can spontaneously combust and that's all cool and chill." You say.
"It's actually quite the opposite of cool and chill." Theo snorts.
"Oh shut up." You roll your eyes.
The next few days are spent memorizing Stiles' appendix while trying to catch up on everything going on and help stop the most current evil which- you'll admit would be way easier if you weren't so far behind on the information but currently, the goal is read up on these awful things called dread doctors.
Today you've decided to do one totally normal easy thing. You'll take your uncle, the sheriff, lunch at his job. When you arrive at the sheriff's station you head straight to your uncle's office.
"Y/n? What are you doing here?" He frowns when you knock on the doorframe as you walk in.
"I brought you lunch. I wanted something normal to do." You say sitting down across from him as you set the lunchbox on his desk.
"Ah, adjusting well to the chaos of Beacon Hills?" He chuckles.
"You know I just don't get how you don't completely lose your mind knowing what Stiles gets up to. I know my mom would flip if she found out and I'm 21." You shake your head.
"Oh trust me I do but unfortunately Stiles and his friends have stopped a lot of devastation in this town- it would be foolish to pretend otherwise." He shrugs.
"Hey Sheriff, quick question about the- oh sorry, am I interrupting?" You turn your head at the sound of someone speaking behind you. It takes a moment to click but you gasp when you recognize who it is.
"You're the hellhound." You say.
"Excuse me?" The man blinks at you.
"We met at Eichen. Well that's not correct we didn't meet but I saw you at Eichen. You saved Lydia's life. You look very different dressed and not covered in soot, hellhound." You say.
"Jordan." He says, though your words seem to have caught him by surprise, his cheeks are starting to redden.
"Huh?"
"You called me hellhound. Which is- fine technically but my name is Jordan. Jordan Parrish."
"Oh. Well then it's nice to actually meet you, Jordan Parrish." You say smiling at him.
"Wait what were you doing at Eichen?"
"I'm Stiles's older cousin. I'm staying with the Stilinski's for a while and I guess that means being in the middle of all things Beacon Hills chaos." You shrug.
"In that case, I hope to see more of you."
"Ditto." You smile.
"Parrish. What did you need?" Your uncle goes full sheriff mode on his deputy.
"Uh- it can wait. You should- enjoy your lunch?" Jordan frowns in confusion at the lunchbox on the table.
"Get back to work deputy." John rolls his eyes. Jordan walks backwards out of the room, crashing into something on his way and making you giggle. "You stay away from my deputies y/n." Your uncle warns.
"Oh, but that one's so cute. Come on uncle John." You pout.
"No no no no no, even if he wasn't my employee you cannot date a hellhound you and I both know your mom would kill us all if I let you."
"Mom doesn't have to know he's a hellhound."
"Are you suggesting I lie to your mother?"
"Nooo I'm suggesting you turn a blind eye if I lie to her. Plus I'm an adult there's no guarantee she'll even meet him. What if it doesn't get that far?"
"You've already set your sights haven't you." He sighs.
"I mean kind of yeah. He's so cute! And you should've seen him rescue Lydia, uncle John it was- so cool!"
"Just- be careful. Jordan's a good employee and seems like a decent man but you never know."
You spend another half hour with your uncle before deciding you've disrupted enough of his day. On your way out you spot Jordan has his desk and make a detour.
"Hi deputy." You say leaning against the desk. Jordan glances up at you with wide eyes. After a moment he clears his throat and turns back to his computer seemingly to hide the pink creeping across his cheeks.
"Hi. You on your way out?" He asks.
"Yes, but before I go I just want to do one thing." You say grabbing a pen and sticky note from atop his desk. You quickly scribble your phone number on it and place it in front of him. "You want to see more of me. Make it happen. I don't like leaving things to chance." You say and before he can even respond you leave. Let's see if he takes the hint.

It had taken two hours–two whole, entire hours, from 12:30am to nearly 3am–for Munson to get enough things together for him to feel ready to leave for Steve’s house. He’d kept getting distracted, rifling through his room like he’d forgotten almost everything he owned and each uncovered trinket was a noteworthy discovery. And Steve was annoyed.
Dustin and Chrissy managed to keep Eddie on track, somehow, and Steve knew if they hadn’t they’d never have left before the sun came up. All he’d done was sit in the doorway to Eddie’s room and complain that they were wasting time. How many damn band tees did a guy need, anyway?
When he saw Eddie try to put his infamous lunchbox into his patched up duffel bag, Steve put his foot down. “No, you’re not bringing that into my house.”
“I’m an entrepreneur, Harrington, don’t tell me I can’t keep up my business. One that you’ve personally partaken in, in fact, so you being stuck up about it isn’t gonna fly.” he replied with a tight smirk.
“Business?” Dustin asked, but went ignored by every teen.
“If you’re still out making–” Steve glanced at Dustin. “Making money, running around town, that messes up the plan. And you can’t have them come to my house either.”
Eddie grit his teeth, clearly trying to bite back a sneer, then tossed the lunchbox onto his bed a little rougher than Steve thought was necessary, narrowly missing Chrissy who was unfazed. Steve just rolled his eyes.
There was an awkward moment of silence, then Dustin spoke again. Bluntly. “Eddie, are you a prostitute?”
Eddie burst out laughing, loud and unrestrained. Chrissy choked out a giggle, hand over her face. Eddie doubled over with his arms wrapped around his waist and Steve’s eyes were drawn to the way his eyes crinkled at the corners, dark lashes fanned over his cheeks while tears started to clump them together. Swallowing, Steve looked away and ignored how his face heated at Dustin’s question.
“Jesus H. Christ, kid, that’s a new one,” Eddie said around his poorly contained cackling, wiping at his eyes. “I’m a creature of the night, not a man of the night. There’s a difference.”
Of course, Dustin wasn’t deterred. “What’s in the lunchbox then?”
It was then that Eddie scooped up the joint he’d rolled for Steve off the floor, like he’d just remembered it was there, and shoved it into his pocket. “Something I’ll tell you about when you’re older.”
“No, you will not,” Steve said firmly, glaring at Eddie who held his hands up in surrender in a way that was distinctly sarcastic, a glint in his eye like he knew he was pushing Steve’s buttons. It set his teeth on edge. The dimple that appeared when Eddie smirked and winked at Dustin made it worse.
But, eventually, they were on their way. Chrissy drove off after promising to stop by Steve’s in a day or two, and also after extracting from Steve a promise to keep Eddie safe. She and Eddie had hugged for a long time while Steve loaded Dustin’s bike into his trunk, which did nothing to convince Steve there wasn’t something going on between them, but at this point it wasn’t really his business.
On the way to drop Dustin off, the kid asked Eddie an endless stream of questions which Eddie could only answer half of. Was he able to go out in sunlight? No. What happens? His skin starts to boil and blister. Did he have a healing factor? Yes. Could he turn into a bat or a wolf? He fuckin’ wished.
When Steve parked in Dustin’s driveway, Dustin was in the midst of asking, “So who turned you?”
“Uh, wasn’t a ‘who’ as much as it was a ‘what.’” Eddie leaned into the space between the front seats, tilting his chin up and pulling down the collar of his shirt. There was no missing the scarring on Eddie’s jaw, but it was shocking to see how far it went down, and how ragged the scarring really was.
“Did you get used like a chew toy?” Steve asked, which got a snort out of Eddie.
“Bet you’d know all about that, huh?” he teased. Steve’s lips pursed and he hoped it was dark enough they couldn’t see the flush in his cheeks. He shouldn’t have said anything.
Before Eddie could start explaining, the front door swung open, spilling light onto the driveway and Claudia stepped out, hair in curlers, wrapped in a fluffy bathrobe, and wearing a deeply worried frown. Dustin cursed under his breath and scrambled out of the car with a hasty goodbye.
“You’re welcome!” Steve said, but Dustin slammed the door shut before he finished, trapping the following sigh within the leather upholstered interior.
He only half-listened to the muffled conversation between the Hendersons, having heard the worried questioning brushed off too many times to count, now, and returned the smile and wave Claudia sent his way before they went inside.
“Kid’s really got an ego,” Eddie said with a nervy laugh, and Steve snorted.
“You could say that again,” he replied.
The drive home was, well, probably the most awkward one Steve had ever experienced. For all of Eddie’s bluster in the trailer he fell unnervingly silent. His leg, though, kept bouncing rapidly, and he picked at his cuticles while he kept his gaze fixed out the windshield. Even his slow heart picked up to something a little closer to a normal, human pace.
“You okay, man?” Steve eventually asked once the bouncing started to drive him a little insane.
The laugh that escaped Eddie sounded manic. “Sure, dude, just waiting for the point at which you pull over and take me out like some supernatural hitman.”
“Wait, what? I’m not gonna t-take you out!”
“You mean you weren’t waiting to get me alone just to assassinate me?”
Steve shook his head, baffled. “No! I’m literally just taking you to my place. That was the plan, not whatever… insane thing you’re thinking of.” Sparing Eddie a glance, he caught him staring back with wide, tense eyes, his irises black in the darkness of the car. “I promise, Munson. No funny business.”
He let out a long exhale, but finally Eddie slumped heavily into the seat. “Thank fuck. I don’t particularly want to die, especially not at the hands of a monster-hunter-turned-werewolf.”
“If it helps, I’d make it quick and painless,” Steve said, smirking. He hoped the joke would land and not make Eddie either more worried or, worse, piss him off. He didn’t want an angry vampire loose in his car.
Thankfully, after a pause, Eddie barked out a laugh, head thumping against the headrest. “Good to know I’m in the hands of an ethical killer, then.”
Steve chuckled along, but it faded quickly as the words soured something in his gut. He had to set that straight, right now. “I don’t, uh, kill. If I can help it.” Catching Eddie’s interested look, he continued. “It kinda goes on my record as a hunter, and not as a good thing, but I can’t bring myself to do it. There’s some stuff that’s really just an animal, and if they go feral then I have no choice, but that’s, like, the very last option. Most creatures are pretty sentient, so…”
“So killing them feels wrong?” Eddie supplied where Steve trailed off, and Steve nodded, finally pulling into his own darkened driveway.
“Yeah. They can be reasoned with, somehow, or led away to a safer place, y’know?”
“Huh.”
With the Bimmer in park, Steve turned to Eddie. He had his head tilted to the side, curls draped across his unscarred cheek as his eyes darted all over Steve’s face. A tiny line formed between his eyebrows. Steve felt examined, like Eddie was assessing him, and wanted to look away, get out of the car and walk off the buzz the intensity left under his skin. Maybe it was just a vampire thing.
A slow smile stretched Eddie’s full lips, one that felt much more genuine than any others Steve had seen that night. “So you’re just a glorified wildlife rescuer?” he said, amused. Steve just shrugged.
“I guess so. Supernatural wildlife.”
“Now that makes me feel a lot better. Bleeding Heart Harrington, who knew?”
“Shut up, you’ll ruin my reputation,” he joked. Shoving Eddie’s shoulder, he said, “C’mon, let’s get you settled in Munson.”
Having someone in his house 24/7 was an experience Steve hadn’t had since he was a kid. Once he hit his mid-teens, his parents started going on consultation trips and left Steve in as the resident Harrington Hunter in Hawkins, only backed up by the (usually ineffective) police, and the Carvers. He did well enough for himself, and he took a little bit of pride in being independent, told himself he liked the quiet. Filling the house with parties, before everything went to shit, was just expected of him. Having Robin and the kids around a few times a week was just for hunter business (and to hang out with his best friend).
This, though? Having a bored, listless, undead roommate messing with his things, moving them out of place, leaving wet towels on the bathroom floor even though the basket was right there, closing all the blinds and curtains instead of staying in the guest room to sleep during the day, like a normal person would? It was the most annoying experience of his life.
Each morning he’d join Steve in the kitchen before work, his eyes boring longingly into Steve’s mug of coffee. The first morning he offered to brew more, yet Eddie shook his head and said, “Wish I could, buddy, but I don’t think either of us wants to clean up that mess,” and cackled at Steve’s disgusted grimace. But it turned into a routine from there, with Eddie poking fun at his mom’s dull decor choices and Steve’s hair care habits while Steve struggled to bring his brain up to speed with Eddie’s seemingly endless energy. He did notice the dark circles under Eddie’s eyes growing a little more intense each day, but if Eddie didn’t seem bothered by anything, Steve wouldn’t mention it.
Steve would come home to find his parents’ records strewn all across the off-white carpet, Eddie lying amongst the pile listening to whatever he’d claimed to be “barely tolerable” at a truly ridiculous volume. He couldn’t get too mad, because when he’d ask Eddie to turn the volume down he’d give a genuine apology and scramble up to reach the volume knob, but still. Annoying.
Add to it the rest of the Party, who demanded to invade his house as soon as Dustin told them all the news, and Steve was ready to pop a blood vessel.
He wasn’t supposed to have to babysit a group of middle schoolers and a fully-grown adult nerd, and yet. Here he was. At least the others would be arriving soon for a meeting.
They were so loud, too. Dustin, Mike, and Eddie sounded like they were arguing but from the sounds of it they were just excited. Will, Lucas, and Max sat in their own little bubble, talking just as loud if only to hear themselves over the obnoxious yelling. Steve had to close himself in his kitchen and breathe for a few minutes before he could face the noise, and how Max managed to handle it he had no idea.
“Alright, hey!” he shouted over the mass of nerds huddled in his living room. They didn’t stop. He clapped his hands, loudly. “Hey!”
Finally all their heads turned to him. Will and Lucas at least had the manners to look apologetic. The rest of them were unimpressed–though Max was exempt, Steve couldn’t change that if he tried.
“Keep it down, you’re gonna make me burst an eardrum.”
“Whatever, old man,” Max snarked with a little smirk. Lucas laughed, making Steve roll his eyes with a fondness he’d deny.
“Sorry, Steve,” Will said.
He sighed. “It’s fine. Don’t know what you’re all screaming about anyway.”
“Eddie was telling us about his D&D campaign,” Dustin said.
“Of course. That definitely means you have to shout at the top of your lungs.”
Mike, Dustin, and Lucas all gave him a glare that screamed, “Duh.” Brats. But then Steve saw the thoughtful look on Eddie’s face. One that spelled bad news.
“Y’know, I couldn’t run a campaign for you tiny tots through Hellfire because of the–” he waved a lazy hand at the curtains shutting out the weak autumn light from the backyard, “but maybe I can now.” He grinned when the boys all started shouting again and Steve let out a groan.
“Maybe if you all shut the hell up,” Steve said, surly and rubbing at his temples. That was when the doorbell started to ring, repeatedly and insistently, and Steve stormed off to go answer the door.
Robin opened it with her key just before he’d gotten there, grinning. “Hey, dingus!” Nancy and Jonathan stood behind, the former glaring at Robin and the latter wearing a sheepish smile. Before he could even invite them in, Robin pushed past with an affectionate shoulder bump.
“I’m sorry, I think she heard that racket and–”
Steve finished Nancy’s sentence while pulling her into a one-armed hug. “Decided to be an ass? Yeah. That happens. I’ll get her back by stealing her food at work.”
“I heard that!” she shouted from the kitchen needlessly.
“Good!”
Jonathan chuckled at the exchange and gave an awkward nod when he followed Nancy inside. All they were waiting on now was Hopper and Eleven’s arrival. The teens gathered on the fringes of the kids’ loose huddle around Eddie, catching up on their day-to-day, which mostly meant commiserating about school and work, until the last knock on the door came and Steve let Hopper and El inside.
El gave Steve a bright, wide smile and raced off to the kids, leaving Hopper shaking his head fondly at her.
“How’s it going, kid?” he asked, clapping Steve on the shoulder.
“It’s fine. Looking forward to getting this solved though.”
Hopper hummed in agreement, making his way to the group.
“Oh, fuck.” Eddie’s eyes went wide when he saw Hopper, quickly looking at Steve. “Why’s he here!?”
“Good to see you too, Munson,” Hopper droned, “but for once it’s not because of your shitty life choices.”
Eddie snorted. “Says the guy who buys–”
“Shut it.”
Steve watched the two, biting back a smile when Eddie zipped his lips and gave a mocking salute, Hopper’s eyes narrowing at the gesture. Catching his eye, Eddie smirked at Steve, the corner of his mouth pulling down in amusement. He couldn’t help it, a smile cracked through Steve’s resolve and he dipped his head to hide it.
Sighing, Hopper began again. “So, I assume at this point everyone’s been caught up on the situation?” A round of nods and he grumbled, “There’s no secrets in this damn group. Fine, makes this easier then.” He jerked his chin at the kids. “You lot, you’re to stay out of anything that isn’t research. You’ve seen enough already.”
Where Will and Lucas looked a little queasy at the memory of the werewolf, Dustin, Mike, and Max started protesting. El merely glanced between them all curiously, but when Mike started to make his defence, she began to nod.
“We were the ones to find it, we know what to look for!”
“You know a dead werewolf body when you see it, great job,” Hopper snarked. “That’s more than you should’ve ever seen, so you’re benched, got it?”
They groaned.
“If anyone calls the paper about some weird sightings, I’ll follow up on it and let everyone know. And maybe Jonathan and I can check the archives, on the off-chance that there’s something there?” Nancy said, earning a nod from Hopper.
“Steve?” He looked up when his name was called. Hopper seemed almost apologetic about what he was going to say next. “Your best move is to do nothing. We can’t have you drawing attention to your squatter.”
“Hey, I was invited, thank you very much,” Eddie said.
Steve sighed, frowning. He knew it was right, but he hated being put on the sidelines. It also meant he couldn’t be out there, helping. “So no patrols?”
“Nope. Sorry, kid.”
He folded his arms and leaned further against the corner he’d claimed. “What if something else happens? Other hunter stuff?”
“Leave it to me, alright? Me and the guys can handle it for a while. Hell, maybe we’ll even make the Carvers pull their weight for once.” Steve and Hopper both shared a scoff at the idea, though Steve still wasn’t confident that those in the know at Hawkins PD could handle much at all.
“I guess that leaves me on Dingus Distraction Duty.” Robin sidled up beside Steve, offering him an open bag of chips pilfered from his own kitchen.
“I think now you’ve got two dinguses to distract, if you’re hanging out here,” he said. She and Eddie locked eyes expressionlessly for a moment, then pointed finger-guns at each other, giggling. Why did this suddenly seem like a very bad idea?
“If anything comes up, like if you find another corpse, you’ll call me, right?” Steve asked, a little worried about his fate if Robin and Eddie got along as well as he dreaded they would, and Hop nodded.
“You’ll be the first person I call.”
“Wow, Harrington, you’d rather hang out with a dead guy than an undead guy? That hurts.” Eddie put his hands over his heart. “That hurts right here.”
“That feels discriminatory,” Robin said. Eddie nodded excitedly.
Steve just hung his head with a sigh.
The meeting wrapped up not long after, with rides arranged and meet-ups for later organised. Robin left with Nancy, Mike, Jonathan, and Will after threatening Steve into hanging out after their shift tomorrow (not that he really needed to be threatened), the other kids getting ferried home by Hopper.
Steve waved them all off and closed the front doors with a relieved sigh. Finally the house was quiet. Steve walked back to the living room, expecting Eddie to have started ransacking his movie collection only to find him still in his spot on the couch, looking paler than usual. His hand was clamped tightly over his mouth, eyes screwed shut and chest rising and falling in very slow, measured breaths. Something about it had the hairs on the back of Steve’s neck standing on end.
“Whoa, dude, you okay?” he asked, stepping closer. Eddie flinched hard.
“Just gimmie a sec.” Eddie’s words, muffled by his palm, were flat and forced.
Steve froze. “Sure, yeah, okay.”
Afraid to move, Steve stayed in that spot halfway to Eddie between the couch and the coffee table. Neither of them spoke. All Steve could hear was Eddie’s harsh breathing. After a few minutes his shoulders eased away from his ears, but he still hadn’t opened his eyes, or removed his hand.
“Can you, like, open the windows or something? Let some fresh air in?” His throat bobbed.
“Yeah.” Steve backed away, then opened the windows, doing his best to keep the blinds and curtains closed against the sun. Without moving closer, he asked, “Uh, that better?”
Eddie kept breathing slowly, but the tension around his eyes started to dissipate. He nodded.
“Thank–” Eddie cleared his throat. “Thanks, man.”
“Wanna tell me what that was about?”
It might’ve sounded a little accusatory, though Steve tried to rein that back. But some little animal instinct in him was still waving a whole field of red flags. Eddie looked like he’d been in pain, broken bone kinds of pain, and now that he wasn’t so wound up Steve could see that he was shaking.
“Been a while since I’ve been around so many people. And, uh, also been a while since I’ve had a drink.”
Steve was about to ask what he meant before it clicked. A drink, of blood. Oh shit.
“When was the last time you… did that?”
“Last week. It’s been too long. The night you showed up, Chrissy was coming by so we could, y’know.”
“Shit.”
Eddie chuckled hollowly. “Yeah, shit.”
“You can call her, it’s fine if she comes over.” He started to walk to the phone but Eddie shook his head, hand falling away from his mouth. He still hadn’t opened his eyes.
“She’s got cheer practice. And if she’s seen here? In broad daylight? And before you suggest animals, they can only keep me going for a few hours. I’ve tried it.”
Staring at Eddie, hunched on the couch and looking like a man on death’s door, Steve weighed their options. Well, the only one he could even consider at the moment. It didn’t take him long to do, and he pushed aside all the weird thoughts, surprises, and worries and buried it all under his desire to help and professional curiosity.
“Bite me.”
Eddie’s head snapped up. Finally, Steve noted with relief, his eyes were open.

Beacon Hills Halloween
Part 1: Peter
Tumblr media
**Disclaimer** - Inspired by the great @ultram0th, and their amazing job at providing top tier Derek Hale transformation stories all month long, I thought I might try and write a few Teen Wolf tf stories of my own. (Plus what better theme to write tf stories to than Halloween.) Please note that this isn’t me competing with ultram0th, or trying to steal their spotlight. I just felt like giving back, after all the great stories they’ve provided us with this month. Which you should definitely go and read for yourselves. This is a three part series, with the final part being released on Halloween (because I’m dramatic.) Hope you all enjoy, and Happy Halloween!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This year the pack was throwing a Halloween party, and they had, albeit reluctantly, invited Peter to come. Normally, Peter couldn’t care less about Halloween. Just a day of the year where screaming kids run around in badly made monster costumes, pretending to be the real deal.
However this year, Peter had an idea. He thought it would be fun to wear a sexy costume to get Chris’ attention. The two men have had a not-really-friends with benefits type thing going on lately. He’d told the hunter his plan during the last pack meeting, and asked him for any ideas on what he should wear. The man had just scoffed and called him an idiot. Peter smirked, remembering the faint redness he’d seen on Chris’ cheeks.
Currently, after spending some time out in the preserve, Peter had just come back to his car that he’d parked at the edge of the forest. He was about to head home and get changed for the party, when he spotted a plastic bag lying in the passenger seat. Picking it up to inspect it, he realized that it was one of those cheap, mass produced Halloween costumes that you find at every department store this time of year. The top of the bag was labeled “The Cowboy,” and the picture on the front depicted a bearded man wearing the stereotypical cowboy hat, denim jeans, and cowboy boots.
Peter scoffed, “Really Chris? You couldn’t get something more high quality?” the werewolf said. Thinking that no one else besides the hunter would plant something like this in his car. “Who knows,” Peter thought, “Maybe he has a Brokeback Mountain fantasy? Chris definitely seems like the kind of guy who would,” he smirked. “Still, it could be fun,” he shrugged.
He stepped out of the car, costume in hand. Deciding he might as well try it on here, since no one else was around anyway. Figuring that anyone who happened to be passing by and would see him in just his underwear would be more likely to be aroused than upset. "Besides," Peter thought mischievously, "Maybe Chris is still watching from somewhere nearby. Might as well put on a show for him." Leaning into that thought, Peter slowly and teasingly stripped off his trademark low V-neck, tight jeans, and designer sunglasses; chucking them aside one by one. He then opened the bag and inspected its contents. Inside was a set of stereotypical cowboy boots, a pair of blue jeans, some chaps, a rancher’s shirt, some gloves, and the all important Stetson hat. “Not the most sinful fetish Christopher” Peter scoffed, looking at the remarkably unsexy clothing. “He better pull out all the stops tonight, if he expects me to wear this,” Peter grumbled to himself.
He begrudgingly got dressed in the costume. “Is there actual dirt on these clothes? Is this a used costume?!” Peter complained, noticing the wear and tear of the clothing. He pulled out his phone and used the camera to look at himself. “Well, it could be worse,” he admitted, “But then again, I look good in everything,” he smirked, admiring how the jeans hugged his ass. Yet as he said that, he felt a tingling sensation spread throughout his body.
Peter gasped as he watched the face reflected back at him change right before his eyes. His lower face became obscured, as a dark and bushy beard quickly spread over his jaw. Thicker and more shaggy than anything Peter had ever grown, or would have wanted to grow before. The changes didn’t stop there though, as he could feel an itching sensation spread over the rest of his body. Undoing the top buttons of his shirt, revealed a dense carpet of body hair, that had spread across his previously smooth chest and traveled downward to form a thick treasure trail leading into his jeans. “No No No! I just got waxed last week! What the hell is going on?!” he cried. He then watched in shock as the color and complexion of his skin changed. Where before his skin was evenly colored, thanks to regular tanning sessions, it now appeared redder in some areas and paler in others.  His skin also grew tougher and more weathered. Like the kind you’d get if you spent most of your life working outside in the hot sun.
“Nhhhhyyyhhh!”
Peter jumped at the startling sound! Dropping his phone, he spun around to see what the source of it was. He gaped. There, where his Shelby Mustang had been parked moments before, was now an Actual Mustang. A real live horse! “What’s happening?!” he cried out. The horse was obviously spoked, crying out and shifting nervously. Peter, reacting without even thinking, grabbed the lead and steadied the frightened horse. “Easy. Easy. You’re alright,” he said soothingly. As he petted the horse to calm it down, he didn’t even notice his jean covered ass hardening. The muscles becoming even thicker and more dense from spending years riding horses. The back of his jeans stretched and strained tightly against its contents. “That’s it. Good girl. You’re alright,” Peter whispered soothingly to the now calm horse. To show its thanks, the horse gave Peter a friendly lick.
Peter blinked, his mind feeling like it just got reset. His head felt both incredibly full and empty at the same time. What was he doing again? Why was he out in the forest with a horse? Why was he dressed in these clothes? His clothes? Why wouldn’t he be dressed in his clothes? What else would he be wearing? Peter shook his head and chuckled. “Must be spending too much time in the sun, huh girl?" he laughed. Now he remembered why he was here. The herd had broken part of the fence, and some of the cows had escaped into the preserve. He’d been out all morning looking for them, when he’d decided to stop here and take a break.
“Come on ol’ girl, we better get back to it,” Peter said with a traditional southern accent, hopping up onto the horse’s saddle. “It’s too bad I lost my phone,” he thought, “I could have let Chris know I won’t be able to make it to the party tonight. Not with part of the herd missing. I’ll probably be out here all night,” he sighed. What a shame, he'd been looking forward to seeing Chris in a sexy costume, maybe having a little bit of fun tonight. Just the thought was enough to cause the cowboy's cock to stiffen in his dirty jeans. He gave his bulge a few absent-minded gropes with his glove covered hand, before sighing. “Ah well, That’s okay. I never really liked Halloween anyway. Who has time for parties and goofing off, when there's real work to be done,” He chuckled, before riding off into the forest.
Tumblr media
Not looking back to see a mysterious figure picking up his discarded clothes. Putting the designer sunglasses, low V-neck, and skinny jeans, into another costume bag. This one labeled, “The Douchebag.”

Taking Stiles Stilinski to the Ren Faire
Tumblr media
Fandom: Teen Wolf
What has my coworker made me into taking me to a ren faire.
Reminder, there are male corsets, and they are sexy as fuck. This is not an afab only treat.
Okay, he has never been to a ren faire but has secretly wanted to go so bad.
Like the first time he went to a princess/knights/dragon themed party as a kid, that was it.
His mom mentioned someday they should take him to a ren faire and when she told him what it was there were stars in his eyes.
He never got to though.
One one hand he was hyperventilating overhearing you like and go to them.
On the other you know how he tries to 'act cool' because he's and idiot and tries saying that's lame, with a strain to his voice because he wants to go so bad.
Scott's the one who spills his secret, confused little head tilt and
"Didn't you always want to go to one of those when we were kids?"
Tries shushing Scott and pulling him away from you and threatening wolfsbane.
Read the room McCall.
But because you know this idiot you eventually end up inviting him to go along with you, and there's no way he would turn down an actual invitation.
So freaking excited, wants to put out a warning message to all things supernatural not to DARE fuck this up the day of the ren faire (going first day for best vendors, duh.)
He wants your help and opinions for an outfit, he will not go naked. has a huge pinterest board on a hidden account for inspo.
Ends up with a simple costume and cape because you remind him there will be so much stuff he'll want to get for his garb there.
At your house and hour early and practically vibrating when you were already planning to leave to arrive when it starts.
He sees you still getting ready and jaw drops. You decided to get dressed at home this time and he sees you adjusting yourself in your corset.
audibly squeaks when you suck in, pull the strings and cinch your corset. His mouth is open and his eyes are so wide.
Oh god. Oh god. he's dying right now.
From excited rambles about getting there on time to barely a peep as you finish up and usher him out the door.
So excited as soon as he's out of the jeep, bouncing on his feet looking out at all the stalls and tents.
Definitely makes sure you get dragon legs (smoked turkey legs) to eat and disappointed when you inform him that mutton is actually lamb.
Kid in a candy store running around, loves listening to the minstrels and buys cds.
For trying to deny interest, he is acting like the biggest nerd there. Dragging you around the check out every stall and being a little miffed when there's some 'too modern' things for sale.
You HAVE to go watch the sword fighting.
"Psh, I've fought werewolves. I could take that guy." You tell him to challenge the big guy with a wooden sword fighting little kids and he's on his ass in no time. Made the guy's day though/
His allowance and entire budget usually saved for buying Lydia gifts goes to good items and merch.
He wants to get you something matching and will really scrutinize things at random??
Loves getting pamphlets for future ren faires, always asking when you're going next. You smirk at him send Scott pictures throughout the day.
If there's stuff like jousting he is at the front of the crowd whether you're there or not.
Is so glad there's multiple changing tents so he can put on his new things immediately.
Absolutely wipeD and falls asleep on the couch still in his cape and amazon-discount leather boots. His Dad just gives you a tired questioning look and goes on his way. Makes sure the cape has him covered for the night.
The next day your friends ask if he had a good time, knowing full well with all the pictures and little videos they got.
He tries to play it off and just say how it "wasn't too bad, the drag-turkey legs were pretty good." You just roll your eyes and Malia punches his shoulder.

pack mentality
Sandwiched between Stiles and Scott, Amber walked up the concrete path to the school building, pulling her backpack straps tighter around her shoulders as she listened to Scott recount the vivid dream he'd had the night before.
"I'm serious, you guys. It was an actual nightmare-" He explained, "In the dream I couldn't control my shift and we were locked inside a school bus.. Allison was trying to get away but.. There was so much blood.." Scott shook his head as if trying to eject the memory from his brain and Amber lifted a hand to give him a sympathetic pat on the back.
Stiles wrenched open the large metal doors to the building when the trio reached them, "So you killed her?"
"I don't know, I just woke up," Scott said as he and Amber entered the school, stepping past where Stiles was holding the door open for them, "And I was sweating like crazy.. And I couldn't breathe. I've never had a dream where I woke up like that before-"
"Really?" Stiles questioned with a grin, a look of satisfaction taking over his face at the innuendo, "I have. Usually ends a little differently.." He wrapped an arm around Amber's shoulders as they walked down the hallway and pulled her into his side with a laugh, "What about you, Am? You ever had one of these dreams? With the heavy breathing and the sweating and the-"
She turned slightly into Stiles' side beneath his arm, pressing her fingertips against his lips to stop the rambling. Her heart beat loudly in her ears as she her mind drifted to the dream she'd had the week before that has featured Stiles himself, from which she'd woken up breathing heavily and coated in a sheen of sweat. She looked into his wide eyes as they continued down the hallway with slow steps and she remembered the moment in her dream just before she'd gasped herself awake, the moment that Stiles' warm brown eyes had locked with hers just before she'd come.
After what was probably a moment too long, she removed her hand from his mouth, "Yes, Stiles. I've had a sex dream before. You're hilarious."
"Wh- Really?" He sputtered, "About who?"
She took a pointed step to the side to put some space between Stiles and herself and his arm fell from her shoulders to hang limply at his side again as they picked their pace back up. She was saved from having to dodge the question herself when Scott interjected.
"A, I meant I've never had a dream that felt that real. And B, never give me that much detail about either of you in bed again."
Stiles sighed a long-suffering sigh at the change in topic but surrendered, "Noted. Let me just take a guess here-"
"No," Scott interrupted, "I know you both probably think it has something to do with me going out with Allison tomorrow, like I'm gonna lose it and rip her throat out."
"Of course not-" Stiles began, cut off when Amber spoke over him.
"Noo.." She drew out the word with sarcasm.
Stiles gave in first, "Yeah, that's totally it." At Scott's dejected sigh, he continued, "Hey, listen, it's gonna be fine, alright?"
Amber nodded, patting Scott on the shoulder, "I think you're doing pretty well, all things considered-"
"She's right. I mean, personally, I think you're doing pretty frickin' amazingly, you know? It's not like there's a Lycanthropy For Beginners class you can take." Stiles joked.
"Yeah, not a class, but maybe a teacher..” Scott hinted, gauging for his friend's reactions.
"I think it's probably the best idea you've had since-" Amber started.
Stiles looked between them with wide eyes, "Who, Derek?" He reached around to hit Scott in the back of the head and used his other to smack Amber in her shoulder, "You both forgetting the part where we got him tossed in jail?" Stiles exclaimed, his voice loud as they moved through the crowded hallway.
Scott raised his own voice in response, "Yeah! I know but-"
"I will not be settled with equal blame in that. I still think we should've at least talked to the guy before-" Amber's voice was drowned out as Scott continued to speak.
"-Chasing Allison, dragging her to the back of the bus, it all felt so real."
"How real?" Stiles asked, opening a set of side-doors that led out to the courtyard and leading Amber through as Scott followed them a step behind.
"Like it actually happened," Scott said as they stepped out to the paved area that held outdoor tables and a smaller parking lot. When his two friends came to an abrupt stop, Scott walked straight into Amber from behind and stumbled. He caught himself with a hand on her shoulder before stepping up to stand beside her. His friends' eyes were trained ahead of them, mouths open in shock and Scott looked to what had caught their attention.
There was blood everywhere.
A school bus had its rear emergency door hanging loosely from the hinges, dozens of bloody streaks and handprints marked up the yellow paint. There were uniformed deputies rushing around the taped-off crime scene, taking photographs and swabbing surfaces for evidence.
"I-I think maybe it did." Amber said quietly as her hands began to shake.
The three tumbled back into the school building in a rush to check for any sign of Allison. Scott looked panicked and Amber wrapped a hand around his bicep as she raced to keep up with the boys who were both taller than her, her mind quickly spiraling in fear.
"She's probably fine!" Stiles assured them, not quite managing to keep the nerves out of his own voice.
Scott reached into his pocket to pull out his cell phone, desperately checking it for new messages before squeezing it tightly in his hand and putting it back. His voice was strained as he turned to look at his friends, "She's not answering my texts, you guys-"
Amber took a deep breath, unable to speak. She squeezed Scott's arm in her hand and looked to Stiles on her other side with wide eyes.
"It could just be a coincidence, alright?" Stiles said as they continued to scour the hallway for any sign of Allison, "A seriously amazing coincidence."
"What deity did we piss off to earn this much chaos in only two weeks, anyway?" Amber breathed. Her hands were still shaking, but the one gripping onto Scott's bicep felt slightly more controlled.
"Just- Help me find her. Okay?" Scott pleaded with them, his feet still moving quickly as he raced down the hall.
They'd covered the entire east wing of the school without a glimpse of the girl and when they reached an unoccupied row of lockers, Scott tugged himself out of Amber's grip to brace himself against them. He dropped his forehead to one of the cool metal doors and his hands came up on either side of him. He was breathing heavily, in a scarily similar way to when he was on the lacrosse field, just before he had lost control and tried to kill them in the locker room.
"Scott?" Amber asked softly. She had begun to take a step closer when Stiles pulled her back gently with a hand on her shoulder.
She and Stiles watched as Scott breathed harshly for a few moments before Scott suddenly stood upright, tightening his right hand into a fist and punching the door of the locker. The force behind it put a deep, hand-sized dent in the metal, bending it at an angle that had the lock disengaging and sent the locker door swinging open slightly, hanging sadly from its hinges.
Scott took another deep breath, backing away from the destruction while he and Amber both looked around at their peers, checking if anyone had seen or heard his episode, but no one seemed to be paying them any attention.
When Scott rushed down the hallway, Stiles used the hand still gripping Amber's shoulder to guide her in the other direction, "He needs a minute to calm down, Am."
"Yeah, and we need to help him-" She started, trying to step away but his grip was firm as he pulled her in the opposite direction.
"You and I aren't gonna be much help if we end up in a situation like last week and he manages to actually kill us this time," Stiles argued, "We'll keep looking- Give him a while to calm down, and then we'll regroup, okay?"
"I- Yeah," She deflated, "No, you're right."
Satisfied that she wasn't about to rush off to follow after Scott, Stiles released her and gave her back full autonomy of her body as they approached her locker. After she'd packed away her things and collected her books for English, the two made their way to Stiles' locker so that he could do the same. All the while they kept their eyes peeled for the Argent girl, but didn't manage to find any sign of her in the hallways.
When Amber slid into her desk in front of Stiles, she sighed at the two empty seats in the row to the right of them. She turned around in her seat to face Stiles and kept her shaky voice low in an attempt at privacy, "What if it was real and Allison is-"
"-Walking in the room with Scott right now," Stiles finished her sentence, nodding toward the front of the classroom.
Amber spun forward again so quickly she only narrowly avoided sweeping all of her books onto the floor, but Stiles was right. Allison was walking into the room with her usual soft smile on her face, certainly not looking like she had been mauled by a werewolf the night before, and Scott trailed just a couple of steps behind her.
When Scott slid into his seat, Amber leaned slightly over the arm of her desk to lessen some of the space between them, shooting him a glare, "Would a text have killed you?" She hissed, "I'm pretty sure I was only a few minutes away from an aneurysm from stress."
"Sorry." Scott shrugged, not looking entirely sorry, as he smiled gratefully at the back of Allison's head.
"Unbelievable." Amber leaned back into her seat muttering. Despite her words, she felt a wave of relief rush over her with the knowledge that Allison was okay. As her back came to rest in her seat fully for the start of class, she felt Stiles reach across his desk to squeeze her shoulder softly. She tilted her head to the side and pressed her cheek to the back of his warm hand for a moment before sitting up a little in her seat.
Everything was fine.
Tumblr media
By the time third period came around, the sick feeling in Amber's gut had returned. Even though Allison was safe, there was still a crime scene in the back parking lot along with a bloodsoaked school bus, Scott had still dreamt that he'd been there the night before, and someone or something had lost a concerning amount of blood.
Scott turned around to face where his friends sat at the sideways tables behind him, "Maybe it was my blood on the door," He suggested quietly.
Amber shrugged in response while she continued to copy down the equation that Mr. Harris was writing up on the chalkboard.
"Could have been animal blood," Stiles interjected, fiddling with the pencil in his hand, teeter-tottering it back and forth rapidly between his middle and forefinger, "Y'know, maybe you caught a rabbit or something."
Scott frowned in confusion, "And did what?"
"Ate it." Stiles said simply.
Amber snorted quietly, glancing up to the front of the room to ensure their teacher hadn't heard it. Mr. Harris was still facing the blackboard, so she felt safe enough to whisper back to her friends, "Gross, Scott. You ate a rabbit?" She questioned gleefully.
"What and I ate it raw?" Scott asked.
"No, you stopped to bake it in a little werewolf oven." Stiles glared, annoyed. Amber laughed quietly again as he continued, "I don't know, you're the one who can't remember anything."
"Mr. Stilinski," Harris' voice rang out with its usual amount of irritation, "If that's your idea of a hushed whisper, you might want to pull the headphones out every once in a while." Amber looked back at her notes, face flushing in mortification, and she heard Stiles huff a nervous laugh, "I think you, Mr. McCall and Miss Callisto would benefit from a little distance, yes?"
"No-" Stiles protested immediately.
Mr. Harris glared from behind his small, black framed glasses and pointed to an empty seat at the far end of the classroom, and another at a table in the front. Stiles and Scott both huffed, but collected their things none the less and moved to their respective new seats. Amber remained in her seat, avoiding the amused gaze of the classmate she shared her table with.
"Hey! I think they found something!" The girl sitting beside Scott suddenly yelled, rushing to the window overlooking the back parking lot.
Every student in the classroom followed suit and ran to the wall of windows. Amber pushed through to the front of the room and hovered just behind Scott and Stiles, peeking over their shoulders to see the person being carted toward an ambulance on a gurney.
"That's not a rabbit," Scott stated quietly.
The old man on the gurney suddenly sat upright and attempted to pull away from the paramedics. He screamed and all the students hovering by the windows flinched back in surprise. The backward movement of the boys in front of her had her tripping over her own feet and Amber's hands went to Stiles' waist to steady herself.
Scott backed away from the scene slowly with a horrified look on his face. Amber and Stiles immediately followed after him and went to their friend's side.
"Guys, what-" Amber swallowed past a lump in her throat, unable to finish her question. She looked to Stiles with wide eyes, hoping he might have something to say to make the situation seem less dire.
"This is good!" Stiles said, "This is good." He repeated, looking back and forth between his friend and the windows, "He got up, he's not dead. Dead guys can't do that." Stiles let out a long breath.
"You guys.. I did that." Scott whispered.
Tumblr media
"Hey, listen. We don't know for sure that you did anything." Amber assured Scott again. She settled her lunch tray over her forearm and reached out to rub Scott's arm encouragingly as they made their way to an empty table.
"Dreams aren't memories." Stiles agreed in a whisper.
"Then it wasn't a dream." Scott countered, setting his tray down on a table, "Something happened last night and I can't remember what."
Scott grabbed a seat, throwing his sweatshirt into the empty chair beside him. Stiles pulled out his own seat across the table and Amber settled herself into the one to the right of Stiles.
"What makes you so sure that Derek even has all the answers?" Stiles asked in defeat.
"Well to start, he was fine on the full moon-" Amber started.
"Yeah," Scott agreed, "He was in total control on a full moon while I was running around in the middle of the night attacking some totally innocent guy."
"You don't know that." Stiles reiterated to their friend.
"I don't not know it!" Scott said, leaning forward into his lunch tray as he spoke. "I can't go out with Allison. I have to cancel-"
"No." Stiles interjected, "You're not canceling, okay?"
Amber frowned, unsure when Stiles had taken this stance on Scott's love-life, but wanting to reassure him all the same.
"The next full moon isn't for another two weeks," Amber stated, "So, you'll be fine tomorrow, and then after you've gone on your amazingly perfect date, we'll work on your control. By the time the full moon comes around, you'll be totally fine."
"Yeah. You can't just cancel your entire life. We'll figure it out." Stiles agreed.
"Figure what out?" Lydia's voice cut in. The girl dropped her lunch tray down beside Scott's and fell gracefully into the seat across from Amber.
Stiles huffed out a surprised breath, looking at Amber as if she might know why the strawberry blonde was joining their table at lunch.
"Uh-" Scott said dumbly.
"Just homework." Amber smiled, reaching to grab a chicken tender from Stiles' plate and beginning to rip it into tiny pieces over her salad.
"Yeah," Stiles agreed loudly before turning to whisper in Amber's ear, "Why is she sitting with us?"
Amber shrugged in response just as the rest of the empty seats at their table were suddenly being filled. A guy Amber didn't know very well from the lacrosse team sat at the head of the table between Lydia and herself. Danny Mahealani settled into the seat on the other side of Stiles. Allison went to the seat beside Scott, pausing while he collected his sweatshirt from the table so that she could set her tray down.
"Thanks," Allison said to him with a smile.
"Get up." Jackson's voice cut in harshly, glaring at the boy sitting beside Amber.
The boy floundered for a moment, "How come you never ask Danny to get up?" He questioned, pointing to where Danny was sitting a few seats away.
"Because," Danny interjected, pointedly looking at the way the boy's eyes were glued to Lydia's chest, "I don't stare at his girlfriend's coin slot."
The boy pulled his eyes away from the redhead in embarrassment and huffed, quickly grabbing his tray and rushing off so that Jackson could take his vacant seat.
"So, I hear they're saying it's some kind of animal attack. Probably a cougar." Danny said, unknowingly steering the topic of conversation back where it had been only moments before.
"I heard mountain lion." Jackson disagreed.
"Same thing," Amber said through a large mouthful of salad at the same time Lydia said, "A cougar is a mountain lion."
Jackson's eyes narrowed at his girlfriend and Lydia continued, "Isn't it?" Lydia asked dumbly, looking up at Amber across the table in faux-confusion.
"Who cares," Jackson rolled his eyes, "The guy's probably some homeless tweaker who's gonna die anyway."
Amber's eyes snapped back to Jackson and she had to fight the urge to stab her fork into his hand instead of the salad on her plate.
She felt Stiles' hand go to her shoulder as he leaned over the table with a video playing on his phone, "Actually, I just found out who it is. Check it out." Stiles said, positioning his phone so that most of the table could see the newsreel he was playing.
"The Sheriff's Department won't speculate on details of the incident but confirmed the victim, Garrison Meyers, did survive the attack. Meyers was taken to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition." The reporter recounted over a video clip that had been taken of the crime scene, followed by a photograph of the victim smiling that they'd managed to pull from somewhere.
"I know this guy." Scott said, looking up at his two best friends with wide eyes. Amber took a shaky breath at the admission, glancing over at Stiles to see he looked just as dejected. "When I used to take the bus back when I lived with my dad.. He was the driver."
There was a moment of silence wherein the three friends sat with matching looks of devastation.
"Can we talk about something slightly more fun, please?" Lydia cut in, "Like- Oh, what are we doing tomorrow night?" She asked excitedly, eyes flicking to Amber before they settled on Allison at the other end of the group, "You said you and Scott were hanging out tomorrow night, right?"
There was an awkward moment where Amber watched Allison choke down the bite of food she had in her mouth, eyes bouncing between Lydia and Scott, "Um," She struggled, "We were still thinking of what we were gonna do."
Amber and Stiles made brief eye contact, unsure how Scott and Allison could get out of sudden the turn of events.
"Well," Lydia said, "I am not sitting at home again watching lacrosse videos, so if the six of us are hanging out, we're doing something fun."
Allison was nervously sipping from her water bottle when Scott turned to face her, "Hanging out? Like, the six of us?" He asked slowly.
Stiles reached a hand up to cover his own mouth to keep from groaning in frustration. Amber grabbed his hand and pulled it down to settle on the top of the table, squeezing it for a moment.
"Do you wanna hang out, like, us and them?" Scott asked Allison quietly.
"Yeah," Allison said after a second, "I guess. Sounds fun."
"You know what else sounds fun? Stabbing myself in the face with this fork." Jackson said, holding up a metal fork identical to the one Amber had debated stabbing him with just a few minutes earlier.
"Well I'm, uh, busy.." Stiles said, hoping to get things back on track for Scott's date.
While Stiles had caught the grateful look Scott shot him, he missed the shattered expression that flooded the face of the girl sitting beside him. Amber let out a pained breath at Stiles' immediate dismissal of being paired up with her on something as simple as a group date.
"-With my dad. Gotta.. Do a thing." He finished lamely.
"Fine." Lydia dismissed, "Don't worry, hon, I happen to have a backup date all lined up for you." The redhead grinned slyly at Amber, like this was going more according to her plan than she could've hoped.
"A date?" Stiles squeaked at the same time Amber furrowed her eyebrows and said, "A backup date?"
"Well if he's too busy," Lydia started, shooting a small glare at Stiles, "We can't leave you fifth wheeling, can we?" She explained, "What, do you have plans with his dad, too?" She asked sarcastically, raising her eyebrows at Amber.
"I- No, I. I guess I don't." She confirmed, avoiding eye contact and moving the lettuce around on her plate.
"Good," Lydia smiled before turning her attention to her boyfriend, "How about bowling? You love to bowl."
Jackson scoffed, "Yeah, with actual competition."
"How do you know we're not actual competition?" Allison asked, turning to Scott with a smile, "You can bowl, right?"
Scott paused, eyes wide, "Sort of."
Amber grimaced, glancing up at Stiles to find him still looking at her with a frown, a french fry dangling from between his lips as if he'd had some sort of life changing realization mid-bite.
What? She mouthed to him, grabbing the exposed half of the fry and pulling it from his mouth. Stiles simply shook his head like he was clearing his thoughts and returned his attention to the rest of the table as he chewed the food still in his mouth.
"Is it sort of, or yes?" Jackson was prodding Scott.
"Yes." Scott said defiantly, sitting up a little straighter in his seat, "In fact, I'm a great bowler."
Amber sighed in all sorts of disappointment.

Stiles and Scott made their way from their final class of the day in a rush to leave school, moving faster that normal with the knowledge that they didn't have lacrosse practice that afternoon. They entered the stairwell and moved quickly until they reached the bottom.
"You're terrible at bowling!" Stiles finally said loudly, thinking back on the fiasco in the lunchroom.
"I know!" Scott whined, "I'm such an idiot!"
"God, It was like watching a car wreck. I mean, first it turns into this whole group date thing. And then out of nowhere comes that phrase-"
"'Hang out.'" Scott agreed.
"You don't hang out with hot girls, okay? It's like death. Once it's hanging out you might as well be her gay best friend. Believe me. It'll be like me and Amber when we're 'hanging out'." Stiles ranted as they turned into the lower hallway.
"How is this happening?" Scott asked, blind to the way his friend was beginning to spiral, "I either killed a guy or I didn't."
"God! I could've had a date with Amber and I freaking blew it." Stiles complained, "D'you think she would've thought it was a real date? Who do you think she's going on the date with now?" Stiles asked, his mind racing.
"I ask Allison on a date, and now we're hanging out." Scott said to himself, ignoring Stiles.
"Scott, who do you think Amber's going on the date with now?"
"I make first line, and the team captain wants to destroy me. And now-" Scott bemoaned before he checked the time on his phone with a groan, "Now I'm gonna be late for work." He said, running off again and leaving Stiles standing in the middle of the hall.
"Wait, Scott!" Stiles called after his friend's retreating form, "You didn't- Who's Amber going on the date with now! You didn't-" He paused, continuing quietly to himself, "Answer my question."
"Ben Davis." A voice came a few inches from Stiles' ear.
Stiles jumped, flailing his arms and tripping forward a few steps. He nearly smacked the girl beside him as he caught his footing and he heard Amber's laughter as he righted himself.
"Ben Davis?" Stiles repeated with a grimace.
Stiles didn't necessarily like the thought of Amber going on a date with one of the many assholes that Lydia could have easily lined up from the lacrosse team. But, somehow, Amber going on a date with Ben Davis was worse.
Ben was all tall lean muscle and clear skin paired with a sharp jawline and thick shiny hair. In addition to all that, though, was what Stiles was beginning to think was the thing he hated the most about Ben — he was nice. The guy was a part of the Big Brother Big Sister Program at the middle school. He was always willing to help the Freshmen when they were having trouble with the drills while all the other upperclassmen just watched them flail in satisfaction. He volunteered at an honest to God soup kitchen around the holidays.
Stiles didn't want Amber to go on a date with some douchebag who he knew would be telling dirty jokes and feeling her up all night, but at least that would be a one and done situation. He knew Amber would kick the ass of a guy like that before she ever agreed to a second date.
But a guy like Ben — That was a guy she'd go on a second, third, even tenth date with. Ben was a guy Amber would probably date until they graduated high school and then the two of them would get married and have two annoyingly beautiful children.
Stiles felt like he was going to be sick.

One Hour Earlier
As soon as the bell rang for the fifteen minute break before last period, Amber rushed to the bathroom. She felt Lydia's eyes on her as she passed by but refused to slow, speeding past with a tight feeling in her chest.
She hadn't been able to pay attention to anything they'd covered in class after lunch. She had mindlessly copied down notes from the board and into her notebook, but she wouldn't have been able to recall a word of it if anyone asked. Her mind was stuck on the confirmation she'd received that Stiles truly couldn't see her as anything more than his friend.
She'd told herself hundreds of times that something like this would happen, that Stiles didn't want her in that way. But to have it laid out in front of her with all of their friends present had been more mortifying than she could have ever imagined.
When the bathroom door opened, Amber was sitting with her knees pulled into her chest, curled up on the wide window sill that ran along the frosted glass panes. She heard the soft clicking of Lydia's heeled boots along the tiled floor, but Amber was busy trying to focus her breathing, squeezing her legs tight.
"Oh, sweetie," Lydia said softly, sitting down on the edge of the sill beside her. Lydia's hand came up to run through her friend's long hair softly, pulling Amber close. "You're upset about buzzcut?"
"Stiles." Amber said quietly, voice sounding hoarse even though she hadn't cried.
"Right, well, I know you're hurt but.. If he doesn't want to go on a date with you, he's an idiot." The strawberry blonde stated.
"Feel kinda like I'm the idiot." Amber mumbled, leaning back and looking up into the green eyes of her friend.
"You're not." Lydia said sternly, "But d'you know what will make you feel better?"
"If you say going bowling with-"
"Going out for a fun night with your friends and a guy, hand picked by me. Who, by the way, is very hot and very perfect for you." Lydia smiled softly.
"Perfect for me?" Amber asked distrustfully, loosening her grip around her legs and leaning back against the wall.
"Yes," Lydia insisted, "Please, I know your type. He's sweet, but he's also so family oriented it's boring, and he's a total nerd." Amber raised her eyebrows at the list of supposed perks, "Not to mention he's insanely hot."
Amber sighed, giving in, "Who are we even talking about?"
"Ben Davis." When Lydia grinned, there was something both beautiful and scary about it.
Amber knew who Ben was. He was in their class and had tried out for lacrosse with Scott and Stiles as Freshmen the year before. She didn't know him well, but she knew him well enough that she thought he seemed like a nice guy. He was tall for a Sophomore, and he had gorgeous dark hair that somehow always looked styled but effortless. Lydia wasn't lying, he was insanely attractive.
"I just- I don't know how much fun a date sounds to me right now." Amber admitted self-consciously, picking at a loose thread on her jeans.
"Just come on the date," Lydia said, combing her fingers through Amber's hair one final time, "Come. Try to have fun- And then if you want to mope and be depressed about your friend for a week, I say go for it."
Amber took a deep breath, "You really, honestly think I might like him?" She asked, sighing at Lydia's answering nod, "I don't think I'm up for it tomorrow, but a date in general.. I just.. I'll think about it, okay?"
"Deal," Lydia held out a pinky, waiting until Amber joined her own before letting her hand drop. "But even if you don't go tomorrow night, I am getting you on a date with this guy," She wrapped Amber up in another tight hug, "I swear you'd like him."
Amber nodded reluctantly. Despite the ever present pang of heartbreak she was feeling for Stiles, she felt significantly lighter than she had before her talk with Lydia.

Amber was on her way to her locker at the end of the day when she heard Stiles' voice ring out from down the hallway.
"Scott, wait!" She heard Stiles yelling as she rounded a corner, steadily closing the distance between her and her friends.
Finally, she spotted the back of Stiles' head. He was standing in the center of the front hall, shouting at Scott's back as the tanned boy walked in the other direction through the crowd of students in a rush.
"You didn't- Who's Amber going on the date with now! You didn't-" Stiles called out as Amber reached his back. She leaned closer to Stiles' shoulder as he continued speaking quietly to himself, "Answer my question."
She leaned up onto her tiptoes, her face hovering close to Stiles' ear, "Ben Davis." She answered, her mouth only a few inches from his left ear.
He flinched in surprise at the sound of her voice so close. The boy stumbled and when his arms pinwheeled in an attempt to catch himself, he only narrowly avoided hitting Amber in the face with a flailing limb. She laughed loudly as he tripped forward half a step and righted himself before standing upright again.
He turned to face her and when she looked into his wide brown eyes, she fought to remind herself of the way he'd rejected her in the lunchroom.
"Ben Davis?" Stiles repeated, voice sounding unusually high. His nose crinkled up cutely in what looked like confusion.
Amber shrugged, suddenly feeling self conscious. She couldn't help but associate his surprise with him thinking the same thing she had when Lydia revealed her prospect — that Ben Davis was ridiculously out of her league.
"I mean.. I already told Lydia I'm probably not gonna go." She told him, nervously readjusting her books from where she had been cradling them to her side to hold them in front of herself protectively with both arms. She opted to leave out the fact that Stiles was her main reason for bailing on the group excursion.
"You're not going on the date?" He asked for clarification, his eyes raking over her face.
"Nah," She said, "I know Lydia won't be deterred that easily, in the long run but- Looks like it'll just be a double now with Scott and Allison, Jackson and Lydia."
"Good. Great- Cool!" Stiles said enthusiastically, his cheeks dimpling and putting an instantaneous smile on Amber's own face. His mood seemed to perk up and he threw a casual arm over her shoulders as he led them in the direction of her locker, "What're your plans for tonight? Scott's got work. But if you want, I thought we could order takeout and study for the Chemistry test-"
"Jason doesn't have to be back at the station until eight, actually," She interrupted, casting a brief glance at the mole-dotted cheek on the right side of Stiles' face, "We're making papoutsakia for dinner!" She said excitedly.
"Is that the eggplant one or the pasta bake?"
"Eggplant!" She grinned wide in excitement, "We're pulling out dad's recipe for the tomato sauce and everything. We can never get it to taste exactly like he made it but one of these days... We're gonna get it right."
"Right, yeah-" Stiles said, releasing her so she could open her locker and get her backpack, "That's cool, I'll just.. Drop you off at home then."
"We could order food and study tomorrow night though, if you want." She suggested hopefully.
"Yeah, I- Yeah sounds good. Great!" Stiles said quickly.
He moved to lean against the row of lockers and evidently misjudged the distance, by the way his shoulder slammed loudly against the metal. When she glanced at him while dropping a few books into her bag, he seemed unharmed. Instead, he wore a pleased little smile on his face, his cheeks dimpling in a way that made her heart clench.
"Cool." She smiled, zipping up her backpack and pulling it over her shoulders.

Amber was finishing up in the shower just after nine o'clock that evening when she heard her cell phone ringing loudly from the bathroom sink. She wrapped a towel around her body and nearly slipped with her wet feet against the tile as she jumped from the shower to get to the phone before it rang through to voicemail.
"Hello?" She said in a rush as she answered the call, hovering the phone a few inches away from her ear to avoid it coming into contact with her wet hair.
"Amber, you good? We're on our way to pick you up." Stiles' voice came through the tiny speaker.
"W-Why? I'm showering, what- Did something else happen?" She asked anxiously, leaning to shut off the running water and cursing quietly when she nearly slipped again in a puddle beside the bathtub.
"You're in the shower?" She heard Stiles' ask in a strained voice. Scott muttered something in the background and Stiles shushed him before continuing, "W- Right now?"
"No, not right now. I don't take my phone into the actual shower with me, Stiles. I was showering when you called." She said, turning him on speakerphone so that she could dry herself off quickly with the towel. "Now tell me what's going on."
"We're going to go to the school so Scott can sniff around or something. We'll explain more when we get there. Just get dressed and meet us outside, we'll be there in maybe two minutes."
"Fuck," She exclaimed at the time frame, rushing to finish drying her dripping hair before running to her bedroom to find clothes, "Okay, I'll be right down."
She ended the call, pulling on jeans and a tshirt from the mess on her bedroom floor before running out to the driveway. When she got there, the blue Jeep was already idling and she rushed to the passenger side, clumsily climbing over Scott to get to the center of the bench seat.
"Hi," She panted, elbowing Scott in the face as she readjusted to sit down, "Sorry-" Stiles was already backing out of the driveway and Amber shivered in the cool air of the vehicle as her hair dripped water down the collar of her shirt. "So what's happening? What're we sniffing?"
"I talked to Derek earlier," Scott told her, "He said that if I go back in the bus and use my werewolf senses, then I might remember what happened."
"I told you we should've talked to Derek sooner," She stated, "Was he furious about getting arrested?"
"Well, he didn't seem happy." Scott said, earning a snort of laughter from Stiles.
"Hey, this is serious, okay? We got the guy arrested. For his sister's murder." She glared at Stiles in the dark cab of the car.
"He still could've done it." He pointed out.
She rolled her eyes, "Stiles, seriously. We have more important things to focus on right now than your burning, passionate hatred for Derek Hale, alright?"
Stiles muttered something under his breath that she didn't catch, but remained otherwise silent until they pulled up to the gate that closed off the bus lot behind the school at night. As soon as the vehicle was shut off, both doors were flung open and Scott and Stiles dashed from the car, Amber climbed out a moment later and ran to catch up with them as they approached the gate.
Stiles put his hands and feet into the chainlink and immediately began to climb but Scott tugged him down to stand on the ground again.
"Hey, no, just me." Scott said, pulling Stiles' shoulder back and pushing him to stand beside Amber a few steps away, "You guys need to keep watch."
"How come we're always keeping watch?" Stiles asked defensively.
"Because he's the werewolf." Amber stated, putting her hand on Stiles' shoulder and pulling him back another step toward the car.
"Okay, why's it starting to feel like you're Batman and I'm Robin?" Stiles asked, his focus on Scott. "I don't want to be Robin all the time."
"Nobody's Batman or Robin any of the time." Scott said in exasperation.
"I- Not even some of the time?" Stiles asked sadly.
"Just," Scott turned his attention to Amber, "Make sure he stays here."
"Gotcha." She replied at the same time Stiles whined in annoyance. She pulled Stiles back toward the Jeep and together they climbed back in through the still-open doors. The car was quiet for a long minute before Amber spoke up, "Y'know, for the record, if there was a Batman of the group, it'd be you. Regardless of werewolf powers."
Stiles scoffed quietly, "How do you figure that?"
"You're kind of in charge, y'know? You're the one who's always got a plan, even if I don't always approve of it. And you're the one who keeps us together whenever shit hits the fan. Plus, well, you're always trying to keep me safe and pulling me out of danger-" She looked over from where her eyes had been focussed on the bus in the distance and finally turned her attention to the boy beside her. He wore a soft look or surprise on his face that made her feel oddly vulnerable, like somehow she'd revealed too much in the safety of the dark car. "Um.. Not to mention, you've got the super cool car."
He smiled and the light from the parking lot cast shadows over the dimples in his cheeks. Amber tore her eyes away to glance back toward the parked bus and jumped when she saw flashlight beams approaching from the other direction.
"Stiles!" She alerted her friend, pointing toward where Scott was still in the bus and the growing beams of light.
"Shit-" Stiles exclaimed quietly, honking the horn of the Jeep obnoxiously for several long moments to get Scott's attention.
They watched as Scott emerged from the bus and took off running in their direction. He jumped onto the hood of a parked car and ran along the roof before launching himself over the tall fence, tucking and rolling when he hit the ground on the other side.
"C'mon, c'mon," Stiles muttered, hitting the steering wheel anxiously as they watched their friend.
Scott ran toward the Jeep and Amber rushed to open the passenger side door for him.
"Go! Go!" Scott yelled as soon as he was in the vehicle.
Amber flinched at the shouting and she watched Stiles fumble with his keys for a moment before getting them in the ignition and throwing the vehicle into reverse. Amber couldn't help but grip onto Scott's arm when Stiles slammed on the gas to propel them backward before cutting the wheel as he switched gears. The Jeep turned to the side and hadn't yet come to a stop before Stiles slammed on the gas again and they took off in a forward direction and away from the school.
"Did it work? Did you remember?" Stiles yelled quickly as he drove.
"Yeah, I was there last night," Scott explained, gripping the window with one hand and allowing Amber to continue squeezing his other arm tightly, "And the blood- A lot of it was mine."
"What does that mean?" Amber questioned in confusion.
"So, you did attack him?" Stiles clarified.
"No." Scott answered, "I saw glowing eyes on the bus, but they weren't mine. It was Derek."
"Oh, come on-" Amber cried out, only to be ignored.
"What about the driver?" Stiles asked.
"I think I was actually trying to protect him."
"Wait," Stiles interrupted frantically, "Why would Derek help you remember that he attacked the driver?"
"He wouldn't!" Amber interjected loudly.
"It's gotta be a pack thing-" Stiles thought aloud, ignoring the incredulous look Amber was shooting him, "Like an initiation. You do the kill together."
"Because ripping someone's throat out is a real bonding experience?" Scott asked warily.
"Yeah, but you didn't do it," Stiles pointed out, "Which means you're not a killer. And it also means that-"
"I can go out with Allison." Scott finished quickly, a look of relief taking over his face.
"I was going to say that you wont kill me and Amber." Stiles said, taking his eyes off the road to look past Amber and glare at Scott.
"Oh, yeah." Scott agreed quietly, "That too."
"You're both ridiculous." Amber stated, releasing Scott's arm to cross her own over her chest. There was so much she wanted to say but she remained quiet as she sorted through her own thoughts.
There was no way that Derek Hale was attacking people just because he wanted Scott in his pack.
Amber knew something else was going on, and she intended on figuring it out.

The next day, Amber insisted she needed to do something before their study date and requested that Stiles drop her off at home after lacrosse practice.
The girl watched out the front window as the Jeep reversed out of the driveway before she abandoned her backpack on the dining table and headed to the garage to pull out her rarely-used bicycle. Tugging the garage door closed once again, she climbed onto the uncomfortable seat and took off in the direction of the preserve.
Amber was passing by a gas station at the edge of town when she spotted a familiar black Camaro parked at one of the pumps and she quickly turned into the parking lot, coming to a stop at the back of the car.
Derek was swinging the driver's side door open and getting out just as she climbed off of her bike, letting it fall to the ground as she approached him.
"You have got to tell us what the hell is going on." Amber demanded.
"You and your little friends have no idea what you've gotten in the middle of." Derek stated darkly, slamming the door shut behind him.
"Uh, yeah, that's kind of the problem!" Amber said, gesturing wildly with her arms, "Scott and Stiles think you're this crazy murderous werewolf who attacks random people for some sort of idiotic pack bonding ritual- And you, with your stupid brooding face and half-truths whenever you're confronted with a question, are not helping!"
Derek rolled his eyes at the teen, leaning against his car casually, "Then what d'you wanna know, huh?"
"I want to know who attacked the bus driver, and who killed your sister, and why your werewolf butt showed up in town at the same time Scott was bitten." Amber listed, counting off the questions on her fingers.
"I don't know who attacked the driver, alright? I was hoping Scott would once he triggered his memories." Derek stated.
"Okay, well.. What about your sister?" Amber asked.
"I don't know that for sure either," Derek said, crossing his arms over his chest, "I really did follow my sister here. I didn't lie to you."
"Okay, well-" Amber started, cutting herself off when Derek's focus suddenly snapped down the street, his eyes wide and his brows furrowed, "What?"
"Get in the car and hide on the floor in the back seat." Derek ordered, moving to grab her bike and throwing it into the bushes at the edge of the parking lot like it weighed nothing.
"What? Why would I-"
Derek was already opening the door and pulling the seat forward. He picked her up easily and shoved her into the backseat of the car, repeating himself, "Hide on the floor." He demanded, pushing the seat back upright, "Don't move. Don't make a sound. Got it?"
Amber bit her lower lip nervously but nodded. The moment she gave her confirmation, the door to the Camero was slammed shut and Derek rounded the car and began the process of filling his gas tank.
The sound of several more car doors opening and closing sounded out and Amber curled tighter on the floor of the car to hide herself away from the tinted windows. Everyone outside of the car was silent for a long minute and eventually, she heard Derek pull the pump from the side of the car and flip the gas cap closed.
She remained on the floor and listened as a male voice began speaking at the passenger side of the car near where Derek was standing.
"Nice ride." The man finally said, "Black cars, though.. Very hard to keep clean. I would definitely suggest a little more maintenance. If you have something this nice, you want to take care of it. Right?"
Something soft slapped wetly against the windshield and Amber flinched, peeking around the passenger seat to see the arm of someone cleaning the windshield with a squeegee.
"Personally, I'm very protective of the things I love." The man continued as he wiped down the glass, "But, that's something I learned from my family, and you don't have much of that these days. Do you?"
Anger flared in Amber's chest at the insensitive comment that was most likely meant to pull a reaction out of Derek. It didn't seem to have worked, as Derek remained silent and out of her line of sight from the floor. It was, however, effective in making the girl inside the car begin to feel protective and quietly enraged.
"There we go." The man said after a moment, stepping back from the car, "You can actually look through your windshield now. See how that makes everything so much clearer?"
Amber watched through the small crack between the passenger door and the seat as the man began to walk away, he was wearing a tan jacket and his hair was heavily graying.
"You forgot to check the oil." Derek called out at the man's back brazenly, his voice deep and unaffected by the encounter.
"Check the man's oil." The man from before ordered someone after a long moment of silence.
Only a few seconds passed before someone approached the driver's side door. Amber ducked down tighter toward the floor just before someone broke through the front window with the butt of a large gun, glass shattering loudly and flying into the car as Amber flinched with a quiet gasp.
"Looks good to me." The second man said with mirth as he backed away from the car, not noticing the girl in the back.
"Drive safely." The first man told Derek, voice growing quieter as he walked away from the car for the second time.
A minute passed in which she could hear car doors opening and closing again, two engines turning over, and the sound of the vehicles driving away. As soon as the sounds retreated, Amber sat up a little straighter and watched as Derek tugged open the passenger door this time and pulled her back out of the car with his hands on her waist.
"Who the hell-"
"You okay?" Derek interrupted her, checking her arms and face for cuts. His eyes narrowed as he reached up and pulled a tiny piece of glass from her hairline without warning.
"Ow!" Amber flinched, pulling back a step and pressing her fingers to the tender spot where the glass had been lodged in her skin. When she pulled her hand away, her fingertips had a small drop of blood on them and she stared at the drop in a daze for a moment before looking up at Derek's frowning face, "Seriously, who-"
"Hunters." Derek told her, "Chris Argent and his crew. They didn't see you, though. You should be safe for now."
"For now?" Amber repeated in a squeak, "What do you mean for now?"
Derek sighed, "Scott's control isn't the only thing that puts you in danger. Just knowing him, being friends with him, that puts you in danger too. From hunters."
"I am not going to stop being friends with Scott." Amber told him resolutely.
"That doesn't surprise me." Derek stated, purposefully brushing his hands down Amber's jacket and jeans. Tiny shards of glass fell from her clothes and hit the pavement below with a quiet clinking. "Look, I'm on my way to check out the bus driver. I'm going to see if I can get any scents or clues off of him but you and Stiles- You need to stay out of things. You're human. It's not safe."
"But-"
"Go home." Derek ordered, pushing her gently in the direction of her bike.
Amber frowned, but approached the bicycle where it was sadly hanging out of the bushes, relatively unharmed considering it had been thrown across a gas station parking lot. She picked it up and looked back to see Derek already climbing into the Camaro and closing the door behind him.
She sighed, pulling her phone out to text Stiles to pick her up at home before throwing her leg over the bike and taking off in the direction of her house.
When she got to her house, she dropped her bike haphazardly against the front porch. Amber rushed inside to grab her backpack again and poked her head through the curtains to see Stiles already parked in the driveway once more.
"That literally took you less than an hour. I could've just hung around-" Stiles stated while she pulled open the passenger door and climbed into the Jeep, "What did you have to do?"
"Um-" Amber hesitated as she turned to buckle her seatbelt.
"Are you bleeding?" Stiles asked quickly, reaching out to brush her hair to the side and leaning closer to get a better look.
"Shit-" Amber cursed, having already forgotten about the small cut at her hairline.
Stiles tucked the hair that had fallen in front of her face behind her ear to hold it in place, leaning around her to open the glove compartment and pulling out a napkin before slapping it shut again.
"Why are you bleeding?" He demanded, pressing the napkin to the blood that had dripped down her forehead.
"I was going to ease you into it-"
"Ease me into what?"
"Well-" Amber sighed, taking the napkin from his hand and wiping at her forehead herself, "You're gonna be kind of mad."
Stiles sighed this time, "Amber, why am I gonna be mad?"
"I went to see Derek-" Amber started.
"Derek- Derek hurt you?" Stiles asked angrily. It was a tone Amber wasn't sure if she'd ever heard his voice take. The boy reached into the pocket of his jeans as he continued, "That's it. We're calling my dad and this time he'll arrest the deranged werewolf for-"
"Stiles, stop." Amber grabbed the phone from his hand when he pulled it out of his pocket, "Will you just listen? Yeah, I went to see Derek, but I'm bleeding because Allison's dad showed up with a bunch of other hunters and broke in the window on Derek's car."
"You were in his car again?"
"Yes, I was in his car. He told me to hide in there when he heard the hunters pulling up. But that's not the point, Stiles-"
"Unbelievable!" Stiles exclaimed, "You're about to defend him again, aren't you? You're still defending Derek?"
Amber took a deep breath, weighing her options.
"Why don't we talk about it later, then. Okay?" Amber asked. Stiles looked like he wanted to fight her on it but before he could say anything, she spoke again, "I'm starving. What did you want to order? Pizza? Chinese? Mal's?"
Stiles sighed, facing forward to back out of the driveway and begin driving.

When they had arrived at the Stilinski house, the two had quietly snuck their Chinese food upstairs, attempting to keep it far away from where Stiles' dad would have been sure to steal some of the greasy and likely artery-clogging takeout.
Amber's head was pillowed comfortably in Stiles' lap as she quizzed him with the stack of flash cards she'd worked on the night before. They had been at it in between picking at the food for over an hour and were nearly finished with the thirty card stack.
"Okay," She said, shimmying slightly as she readjusted to make sure he couldn't see the flash card if he tried to peek, "Chemical reaction resulting in a single product?"
"Synthesis?" He questioned, grabbing another spring roll from the bag beside him and reaching out on autopilot to allow Amber to take a bite from it.
She accepted the bite easily and nodded, flipping to the next card in the stack as she chewed, "And what type of reaction takes place in the presence of oxygen and produces carbon dioxide and water?"
"Combustion." He answered confidently this time, shoving the remainder of the spring roll in his mouth and eating it in a single bite.
"Last one," She announced, sitting up to face her friend dramatically, "Products of the double-replacement reaction between aqueous hydrogen bromide and aqueous sodium hydroxide?"
"Uh-" Stiles paused, tapping his hand against his thigh in thought, "I- Water and sodium bromide?"
Amber squealed excitedly, jumping forward on the bed to tackle him into the pillows with a hug, "We are so going to ace this test! And when we do, Mr. Harris can suck it!" She said with a muffled voice into the pillows behind his head.
She felt Stiles' laughter underneath her and she pushed up onto her elbows to hover over him, laughter faltering when she noticed how close they were. She blew out a soft puff air over his face, her eyes tracing the freckles and moles dotting his flushed cheeks before settling on his eyes. His eyelashes were dark and thick and the warm brown of his eyes appeared darker than normal in the uneven light shining from the desk lamp across the room.
His eyes flicked back and forth between her own and she couldn't help the way her gaze dropped down to his lips, bringing up pondering thoughts of whether they were as soft as they looked. She both saw and felt his exhale as it slipped from his mouth and blew out against her chin. Amber swallowed audibly, her arms relaxing a touch more into the mattress beneath him.
The moment was broken when the house phone rang loudly downstairs with an incoming call and Amber flinched, rolling to the side in a rush to get out of the bed. Stiles reached automatically for the cordless phone he had on the side of the bed, covering the mouthpiece as he picked up to listen in to his dad's call.
She watched silently until he hung up the phone, only seconds before the downstairs door slammed shut as the Sheriff left the house, "What is it?" She asked.
"The bus driver's dead."
"Shit." She grabbed her phone from the front pocket of her backpack and checked her messages to find one from Scott that she'd received only two minutes before, "Scott just texted that he dropped Allison off."
"Let's go, then." Stiles said, abandoning their school supplies and leftover Chinese takeout to pull her out of the house and back down to the Jeep, their previous moment forgotten.
When they pulled up to the house, the windows were dark and the family car that Scott was driving tonight was still missing from the driveway.
Stiles grabbed Amber's hand and tugged her over to the trellis at the side of the house. They used to climb it as kids — the same trellis Stiles had climbed just a few weeks before on the night Scott had been bitten.
Stiles began to climb and urged Amber to follow close behind, making his way up the wooden structure and quietly sliding open the unlocked window into Scott's bedroom. He climbed through and she followed, her foot catching on the windowsill and causing her to tumble through. She landed hard on Stiles' back and rolled off of him with a quiet apology as they righted themselves.
Suddenly, a figure moved through the dark doorway to Scott's bedroom wielding a weapon and Stiles and Amber seemed to notice it at the same time, yelling out in fear.
"Woah, woah!" Stiles yelled, bringing his arms up to protect them from any anticipated blow as Amber and their attacker both screamed loudly.
The room settled into silence for a brief moment as they took stock of the situation. Ms. McCall stepped back and lowered the baseball bat she was holding before scolding them loudly, "Guys! What the hell are you doing here!"
"What are we doing!?" Stiles yelled, pointing to the bat in the woman's hands, "God! Do either of you even play baseball?" He asked loudly, referring to when Scott had threatened him the same way.
The lights in the room suddenly flicked on, revealing Amber huddled behind Stiles on the bed, Ms. McCall standing in her robe with a baseball bat, and Scott standing in the doorway.
"Can you please tell your friends to use the front door?" Ms. McCall asked her son gently with a sigh.
"But we lock the front door," Scott said simply, "They wouldn't be able to get in."
"Yeah, exactly." The woman responded, still gripping the baseball bat loosely. "And, by the way, do any of you care that there's a police enforced curfew?"
"No." All three teens responded at the same time.
"'No!' Alright then. Well, you know what? That's about enough parenting for me for one night, so- Goodnight." Ms. McCall said in exasperation before leaving the room.
The three friends sat in silence in the room for only a minute before Scott gave them a look, "What?" He asked.
"My dad left for the hospital fifteen minutes ago- It's the bus driver." Stiles said, glancing at Amber beside him before continuing, "They said he succumbed to his wounds."
"Succumbed?" Scott asked in confusion.
"He's dead, Scott." Amber clarified. There was a sinking feeling in her stomach telling her that, somehow, things were only bound to get worse.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Tagged by the fabulous @dear-massacre 😘
How many works do you have on ao3?
21 - it would be a lot higher, but I purged all but one of my old Destiel fics back in 2017. They weren't very good, so I can't say I really regret it 🤷‍♀️
What's your total ao3 word count?
319,994
What fandoms do you write for?
Now, just Teen Wolf 🐺
Top five fics by kudos:
Find Your Fire - Reddie (IT)
Clue(less) - Reddie (IT)
Nah, He Didn't - Destiel (Supernatural)
Worst Enemy - Reddie (IT)
as dear as a brother - Sterek (TW)
Do you respond to comments?
Embarrassingly, it's very hit and miss... I want to! I love and cherish every single comment I ever get! But I find the process of replying to comments bizarrely stressful, so sometimes it takes me... a while. And that while might be, like, years. Sorry!!
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I genuinely don't have anything with an angsty ending posted; I need my boys to be happy too badly for that. I guess I could say maybe striking out - just because it's not finished yet, and where it is in the story right now is angsty af!
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
All of them have rom-com level happy endings lol. Maybe Clue(less) - it's a childhood friends-to-lovers soulmate AU, so it has all the sap that comes with those particular tropes wrapped up in there.
Do you get hate on fics?
I wouldn't call it hate, per se - but I guess my interpretation of Stiles is a bit harsher/more rough-edged than others I've seen, and some people don't vibe with that, so I get comments telling me they don't like Stiles in my story for XYZ reason.
To be clear - I also don't write Derek as a completely faultless, entirely perfect guy. I also have him do bad (arguably worse, in some fics) things. But for some reason, I don't ever really get the same kind of comments about him!
Do you write smut?
Like, almost exclusively at this point. It's like my brain can't come up with a story unless I'll get a chance to write them fucking nasty in it.
Craziest crossover:
None, they're not really my jam.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
omg yes! years ago! It was this Destiel HS AU I had posted on AO3 (since deleted because it was... not good) and someone posted it onto ff.net and claimed it was theirs. I can't remember if I ever was successful in getting it taken down.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I don't think so!
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have not.
All time favourite ship?
All time is so hard... I do probably have to say Sterek. I shipped them intensely back in 2012, and I ship them even more intensely now. So - yeah. Probably them.
What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Are we talking real WIP that I've actually made a meaningful dent in? Or just ideas I've put down to paper?
Because I have so many ideas, there isn't enough time to actually finish them all lol. But for fics I have actively started, I'm pretty confident I'll manage to muddle through to the end of all of them, even if it takes a little while.
What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and smut, I think.
I tend to develop a scene around the dialogue - in that, it's the dialogue that will come to me first when I'm planning the outline, and I'll note it down for when I come around to writing the scene. Then it's mostly a case of refining that dialogue and building the scene with descriptions around it.
I also love smut as character study. It's not just about being horny for them. It's about being horny for their introspection, too.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I don't have the imagination to come up with some of the flowery prose I see and love from other people. I wish I did, but that's just not how my brain works unfortunately!
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
I only really feel comfortable writing in languages I'm fluent in. For anything else, I think we all know Google Translate can't be trusted, so I just... avoid it.
First fandom you wrote in?
Harry Potter! Wolfstar all the way back on ff.net <3
Favorite fic you've written?
Oh god, this is hard. Let's go with a Teen Wolf fic, because they're the nearest and dearest to my heart right now.
I think I'd say feels so good inside. It was so much fun to write, and I just love loss of virginity fics so damn much.

OMG i absolutley love this! and thank you <3 means a a lot! also i'm gonna make this a stiles x reader because i LOVE stiles. he's the reason i started watching teen wolf in the first place sooo i hope you enjoy this.
Buried deep in
Tumblr media
Being the twin sister of scott mccall is not at all what people think. Ever since he got his werewolf powers or whatever its been all about "saving the world" and he never has time just to chill out with family anymore. Don't get me wrong i love the pack meetings but i hate that everybody excludes me. well, except stiles. He always makes sure to make sure i get my point across even when were sitting on limited time.
"No scott, what i mean is-" i said being cut of by a rushed scott. “No y/n you know I love you but we don’t have the time” he said. We’re all standing around scott and i’s table during a pack meeting. I sit back and glare at scott once again from the opposite side of him. I sigh unfolding my hands standing up abruptly making everyone stare at me. “Y/n nows not the ti-“ scott says aggravated with his sister. “No! No I’m so done!” yelled back at him “you never listen to me anymore. I’m not weak! I’m always trying to help but you never listen” I yelled. “You obviously Don’t need me so why bother?” I said backing out of the room. Walking to the front door grabbing my keys and helmet out of the house and onto my bike. Kinda like Scott’s just f/c and not green. I put the key in the ignition and started the bike. I lifted the petal and was about to drive off but a hand on my shoulder stopped me. I turned and saw stiles. “What do you want stiles” I sighed putting the petal back down. “Well I- I saw that you were gonna drive off without your helmet on. Safety first ya know” he said holding up my helmet with a goofy grin on his face. He saw my hurt expression and his face fell. “Look y/n, nobody thinks your weak. Especially not me” he said with the most sincere expression on his face. “You do. All of you do, ever since Peter happened you guys have been on edge with me, you barley even let me talk anymore” I said aggravated. “Y/n I know there’s more to you. Something in me is telling me that your more that we know.” He said avoiding eye contact with me. I looked at him surprised “I uhh- I gotta go” I said putting my helmet on and driving off, leaving the boy standing there sad.
Yn drove to the opening of beacon preserve where all this mess started. She turned off her bike and put the petal down. She got off of her bike leaving the keys in the ignition but taking off her helmet and setting it on the handle of the bike. She stepped over the the chains to the entrance and walked in.
Ever since Peter bit scott and i everything’s been different. Even me. I didn’t turn into a werewolf or a banshee or a kanima. I turned into a witch. Yes the spell casting, mind controlling, telekinetic kind. No wands no spell books just me. I have this overwhelming anger in my heart. Or it could be hurt. But that built onto the power flowing through my veins. As I walked further into the woods I came across an open field. I sat in the middle thinking about my life over the past couple of months. How shit they’ve been. The memories bought tears to my eyes. I continued thinking about the awful things that had happened recently. I lost my best friend Erica to the alphas. I never really had time to dwell on it. My best friend since I was in diapers. Much like Scott and stiles. She was gone. I felt myself break down tears ran freely down my face, my hands shook. My body’s emotions were finally spilling over the edge and I couldn’t stop it. The sadness turned to anger that grew and grew until I couldn’t control it. My body lifted off of the ground as a orange aura surrounded my hands. The anger grew and grew until I blew up. I screamed. Loud. Finally letting free all of the power and emotions I had built up overtime. E wave of energy bursted from my body as I screamed. My body dropped back to the ground after the energy subsided. I felt amazing. Like I had all the control in the world. I smiled looking up to the sky with tears still streaming down my face. I finally had the control I needed to prove myself. Maybe stiles was right. Maybe I am so much more than the rest.
AN: this is short I know but… I’m making this a 2 part because I have a lot for the second part I just need to plan it out so it’s not so rushed. Also I didn’t see your first request idk what it was but I’ll make sure to check my inbox
