Fan Creativity: Fandom often involves creative expression, and fans may enjoy exploring and expanding upon the relationships between characters through fanfiction, fan art, and other fan-created content. Found family in JJK

Arguably one of the most major thematic features that Gege explores in JJK is the idea of "family". While I could make a completely separate post and write essays on this subject, we’re here to talk about found family specifically. Let’s look at three examples:

Itadori and Todo: While Todo’s affection for Itadori may have a scantly accurate origin (as it is revealed that Todo’s mind created some false memories of shared time between them during middle school), it is undeniably true that both characters share a strong bond. Todo is more boisterous and unconventional, while Itadori is pragmatic and initially sceptical of Todo's methods. Their friendship evolves despite these differences, echoing the found family trope where individuals with diverse backgrounds find a strong connection.

During Todo and Itadori’s fight with Hanami during the Kyoto Sister-School Exchange Event Arc, we repeatedly see Todo refer to Itadori as “my brother” (<- at least the VA does in the anime, from what I remember) and his “best friend” until Itadori eventually adopts these, too. Both characters learn to adapt to the other as they fight, and comfortably find a rhythm to fight against Hanami with—yes, both are skilled fighters, but is unlikely that they could fight so seamlessly together unless there was some deeper connection.

Additionally, during Itadori and Todo’s fight against Mahito during the Shibuya Arc, we see that Todo carries a locket on his person with his favourite idol photographed on one side, and on the other, Itadori. His two favourite people. Cute.

Getou, Nanako, and Mimiko: These three are probably the clearest example of found family in JJK. After massacrering a village of non-sorcerers and sparing Mimiko and Nanako, Getou adopts them into his “family” (his cult) and treats both girls like his adopted daughters. Nanako and Mimiko are the first members of Getou’s “family” that we see he chooses after rejecting (and murdering) his parents.

Long after Getou has passed, we still see his cult honouring his “family legacy” during the Shibuya Arc. The girls even attempt to bargain with Sukuna after he was re-possesed Itadori’s body to kill Kenjaku—they are enraged that Getou’s body is being puppeted about by Kenjaku. To try and attempt bargaining with Sukuna, The King of Curses, is a clear example of how dearly the girls were devoted to Getou—even if their “family” was fucked up.

Fun fact! Gege has referred to him as "Papa Getou" on several occasions.

Tsumiki and Megumi: The most overlooked example of found family by the fandom, by far. In elementary school, their parents disappeared without a trace, leaving the two children to look after themselves. We’re shown in flashbacks that Tsumiki and Megumi attended the same middle school, where she often scolded Megumi for getting into fights—she even throws her milk box at his head, which is peak big-sister behaviour lol.

At such young ages, both children were left by their parents to care for one another while Gojo acted as Megumi’s benefactor—on the condition that Megumi would do what he could to become strong and then attend Jujutsu Tech to become a sorcerer, once of age. Megumi did not accept this proposition because he respected Gojo or trusted Gojo as an “adult” figure, but only because he was assured that Tsumiki would be miserable if the alternative were to happen—that is, if he were adopted by the Zen’in Clan.

It’s important to distinguish that Megumi did not seek the company, reassurance, or protection of an adult (like Gojo—if we can even call Gojo that, in this instance) because he had been disappointed and abandoned by adults so many times in the past. His priority was Tsumiki and her happiness—regardless of his own personal cost, even safety. Gojo was likely to be viewed by Megumi, at such a young age, as more of a business partner who only later grows in to a mentor figure.

How should we view them?

Why the father/son dynamic and found family trope do not apply to Gojo and Megumi

From what I have gathered, there are two main reasons:

Megumi does not want to rely on adults: Whether it be for the sake of Tsumiki’s happiness or otherwise, Megumi wants to be self-sufficient and strong enough by himself that he can secure a future he wants. Naturally, he cannot do this by himself, so he begrudgingly learns how—even learning in the future that he can rely on his classmates.

The key difference is that Megumi chooses these people with great care. Megumi, by force of circumstance, agrees to Gojo’s deal; Megumi, by force of will, agrees to let Gojo mentor him and looks to him for guidance, acknowledging that he does need Gojo’s help—but he does not choose Gojo.

Far too much has happened to Megumi for him to choose Gojo.

Gojo primarily sees Megumi as raw potential: Having just successfully fought Toji after nearly being killed by him, Gojo’s interest in Megumi likely lies in a few places. How strong would the child of Fushiguro Toji be? What could make that child stronger?

Speaking purely in terms of clan politics, in Gojo’s position it would understandably be the most beneficial to have the child of someone so strong on his side, rather than as an opponent. If Megumi was taken in by the Zen’in Clan—who do not get along with the Gojo Clan because of some shared history*—Gojo and his clan could have potentially been under some threat. It’s better to have the insurance rather than risk.

*A Ten Shadows user from the Zen’in and a sorcerer with the Six Eyes + Limitless fought and both were killed by the other

Gojo’s main interest is strength, and using strength to define a future he wants—that is, a future where Jujutsu Society is no longer dictated by corrupt, conservative Higher-Ups. Having just been radicalised by Amanai’s death and Getou’s defection, Gojo is left with a substantial loss of allies that he desperately needs. Megumi, in a way, is a blessing of a solution for Gojo at this point in the story. Megumi has the potential to help shape a future that Gojo wants to live in.

The issues with applying the father/son dynamic and found family trope to Gojo and Megumi

It overlooks the family that Megumi does have: More often than not, it very easily brushes past why Toji would leave Mehumi behind and how Tsumiki was left to watch over him. Tsumiki was the primary nurturing force, and Megumi’s kindness is likely to have been taken from her set example.

It (often, not always) mischaracterises Gojo: Gojo is not a warm, nurturing figure in the slightest. He’s cheerful, humorous, but not nurturing. Gojo, for better or worse, casts the Jujutsu World in its most harsh light—strength, survival, and death.

“You die alone.”

There’s more than one way to interpret this:

You die and no one will be sharing your death with you, regardless of how much you loved them or how hard you fought or who you are. There is nothing you can do to change this.

You die and you won’t be there for those you loved. You leave them behind, and they can no longer reach you.

You die and it means that you were never strong enough to protect the ones you loved, because you couldn’t fight alone. The fight, in your case, was just a slow death. You were always weaker, you were always going to die weaker.

You die because you were never strong enough to stand by your loved ones. You needed shielding, and you hid your own weakness behind them. Your weakness is your isolation, your death.

There is no sentimentality. Gojo sees and tells it like it is, regardless of where that leaves Megumi.

How should we view them?

There is no set way! With the best will in the world, we can all read the same manga panels and take in the same empirical information, and come to very different conclusions and interpretations. I would always suggest gathering as much evidence and justification to support your reasoning, though. If not because you like to debate, but rather to fully understand how and why you came to the conclusion/s you did.

There's no harm in changing your mind or liking more than one way of interpreting their character dynamic.

If you suggested something to watch or showed him the internet he'd enjoy and find some niche. I think he is really into music and would turn into a micro celeb music critic

Toji: nah, his phone is blowing up with new job offers and he goes home to just sleep for a sec or have hot sex with a chic for money cuz bbygirl is just sometimes a whore.

If he did have the time to be online he'd be a slight mahito and then go and kill people who he thought took it too far. Other than that maybe also obsessed with half naked gamer girls on twitch and building mud houses videos

Todo: YES. He watches that idol girl all day everyday and God forbid he misses an episode

Jujutsu Kaisen Shibuya Arc Op Analysis ✌️

The new op was amazing in so many ways and I haven't seen anyone break it down just yet, so enjoy.

⚠️Spoilers for Shibuya Arc ahead⚠️

I'll be focusing on the more important shots and points of the op in all categories so it won't be frame by frame just key factors.

The first scene showing all the characters just does that. From the shot it can be assumed that Yuji is at the front of the group by himself (reflecting the turnout of Shibuya). Afterwards we can see the Dagon group all together (Maki, Megumi, Nanami etc) just behind them is koichi and miwa though you only see them slightly. Inumaki and panda are together in the background as they take a bit of a backseat during shibuya and nobara is mostly by herself.

Next are the disaster curses of hanami, jogo and you can just see choso in the back. There's not much to the scene other then that.

Followed by Gojo and "Geto" walking beside each other but separated by the middle line. I'll touch more on this scene in the parallel section.

After this we see the result of the Gojo sealing with him in the prison realm as Kenjaku stands over the box.

Again we get a shot of the Dagon group followed by Mei Mei and her younger brother with her weapon in hand. (I'm pretty sure this is them getting ready for shibuya)

Then we see Gojo in a crowd of people, if you want to stretch a bit you can argue this shot is a slight parallel to the Kfc breakup but take it as you will.

Now we get Mahito skipping through one of the trains in Shibuya station killing everyone on it. Again if you reach you could view this as a before to him confronting either, Yuji and Todo, Nobara or Nanami.

Then we get a shot of all of our main villains walking together in one of the tracks within Shibuya station. This is more of an introductory shot than anything else. (The symbolic and foreshadowing is in the later half of the op)

Getting to the more interesting stuff this scene with s

Sukuna's fingers and Yuji is the foreshadowing to Sukuna's destruction in Shibuya, with Yuji having a mental breakdown after seeing all of the deaths (the wall is made of coffins) that Sukuna caused in Shibuya.

This shot shows a candle lighting up a traditional painting of the disaster curses, with Dagon and Jogo being shown first before panning over to hanami and Mahito. While being an aesthetic shot you could argue this means that the disaster curses were relevant during the hinane period / the peak of age of sorcery.

Following this is Todo kissing the locket of his necklace. Which has both a photo of Yuji and his idol (I forget her name lol🥲). Then a simple shot of mechamaru's giant mech emerging from the ground.

Then we see miwa clasping her hands and crying, this is from kokichi saving her and taking her away from shibuya on the train.

When a teacher doesn’t follow by said orders given out and or is openly transphobic, Itadori is coming up for there ass- telling them to F off and to respect his boyfriend.

If you still feel body dysphoric after that, he’ll hold you. You’re crying in his lap meanwhile he rubs your back- nose buried into your hair as he inhales your scent, mumbling about how you shouldn’t listen or that asshole of a teacher. Whenever someone’s being a dick about you being trans he’s already by your side- throwing some rude remarks while glaring and huffing.

Walks away with a pout as he lets his arm rest around your waist/shoulders.

If you feel body dysphoric after the interaction, he’d hold you silently. Letting you cry and rant to him, giving you anything you need- putting some inputs of his own as he tries his best to compliment/validate you.

Not a dude but KUGISAKI NOBARA. She’s the queen of vines. She literally knows all the lines and 11/10 could cite it from memory. OKKOTSU YUTA. I feel like he’s a pretty shy guy, but once he’s grown comfortable with you, he’ll start opening up to new things and try out fun stuff like recreating vines. And meanwhile, you’re just trying not to laugh as you video a greasy haired Yuuta staring at the meme of shoving blankets under his feet on a computer and he goes, “Haha, I do that.”

FUSHIGURO MEGUMI. Okay, he’s not really recreating the vine with you because I headcanon Megumi is uncomfortable with people taking photos and videos of him, but Toge has his camera whipped out as you’re walking side by side without bending the knees, Shawn Mendes’ Stitches guitar intro playing in the background and the camera pans to a really disappointed Megumi shaking his head and just giving up on life.

bonus for Megumi: he takes out a crucifix while his Divine Dogs are summoned and goes, “the power of Christ compels you!”

RYOUMEN SUKUNA. Similar to Megumi, he isn’t that fond of having a camera pointed his way, but when you held up a product to him and goes, “Dad, it’s the good kush,” Sukuna just deadass responds with, “This is the dollar store. How good could it be?”

Honestly I have a lot of vine ideas for all of them so if you want a longer and more chaotic conversation about that, hmu anon!

A/N: I’d appreciate feedback here (and in general) because I’m not sure whether to do this kind of hc for other JJK characters or not. I am thinking of Toge in particular because I love my salmon boy. Also fyi, this was some time after 135 but before 140 for sure.

Gojo Satoru - Nemophila

I just saw these and immediately thought about how good they would suit him???

another name for them would be baby blue eyes (no, I had no idea beforehand)

they symbolize prosperity, victory, success or triumph over an enemy

flashback to Gojo beating Jogo tf up... but add a nemophila field in the background <3

That being said, his profile literally states that he is perfect in every way (except for his personality but we still love that, right?), so if this isn't success in every way then idk

This flower's essence is also said to be helpful for those who put up a mask over their painful sensitivity

Gojo also displays characteristics of cynism and mistrust towards the higher-ups

Furthermore, I think he is a little anti-social - doesn't have a lot of friends. As someone from the secret Jujutsu World, he's bound to be hidden in a way. This is enforced by the fact that he is the strongest, so a lot of people and curses are out to get his head. I'd think he doesn't keep anyone too close to him so that they do not become a target for anyone. Must be traumatizing to be him.

This flower helps soothen the soul's conflict, healing it slowly, which is exactly what Gojo needs imo

Itadori Yuji - Protea (orange)

This kind of flower comes in many different shapes, which is why it's a symbol of transformation, which is exactly what Yuji embodies by going from a regular human being to being a Jujutsu sorcerer

Diversity: Yuji is open to anything, Gojo even described him as "having a few screws loose up there". I don't even think he questions how he is being taught by Gojo or anything for that matter?

Yuji also embodies courage and is known to be daring and i don't think i need to explain this one further

I mean, the boy literally jumped right into a curse to rescue Sasaki and Iguchi and help Megumi while not even knowing what a curse is

Orange proteas represent cheerfulness, joy and happiness - if that isn't our sunshine boy, then idk. After what happened to Junpei, he seemed a little down at first but recent episodes have shown that he will not slow down because of that and will keep on being the energetic fluffball of joy that he is.

moreover, they also symbolize unlimited possibilities as his cursed technique so far probably isn't even his final technique yet - compared to Nobara's hammer and Megumi's shikigami. All we know is that Sukuna's techniques are going to be his over time but we don't even know the full extent of the said curse's power yet

If anyone ever mentioned all this to him and showed him the flower, he would think it looks weird at first but will grow to find it interesting (especially the shape). It's not like the flower is native to Japan, so he most likely wouldn't have seen it anywhere.

Gets really excited if you were to give this baby one of these flowers

Fushiguro Megumi - Anemone (purple)

The most common symbol for the purple Anemone is 'protection against evil'. While it's Megumi's primary focus in his line of work as a professional, you ought to know he became a sorcerer in the first place because of his sister, Tsukimi.

Fragility: While Megumi shows a lot of potential for growth, it's also said that he will most likely stagnate due to the mental aspect. He's pretty insecure about his own abilities and doesn't think much of himself but that doesn't mean he won't use his powers in order to protect someone.

Anticipation: As previously stated, Megumi shows a lot of potential as a sorcerer, even to the point that Sukuna (mind you, the creature that only cares about himself) has praised him and will not hesitate to make Megumi a pawn to whatever his big, mysterious plans may be. With that being said, if Sukuna himself is interested in our blue-haired boy, we can anticipate great things from Megumi in the foreseeable future.

This specific flower seems to be a double-edged sword in terms of symbolism. In some cultural circles, it is believed to be a symbol of bad luck, whereas in other areas it's seen as a lucky charm (in which we hope this is the one for our boy). I see the same principle applying to Megumi's descent and his mysterious technique - not gonna elaborate further though (feel free to ask though)

a rather dark symbol for this particular flower: "death of a loved one". In this case, I am referring to Tsukimi, his step-sister. She may not be dead but it is indicated that she is in a comatose state due to being cursed. It seems that Megumi does not know when - or rather whether - she will wake up or not. Knowing this boy, he probably has tried anything and everything in his power to wake her up (hell, he probably even consulted Gojo) but nothing worked so far. This poor boy is anxious about it all the time.

Kugisaki Nobara - Orchid (mainly orange)

I had some trouble finding something for her but orchids seem to suit her best

couldn't really pick a particular color though but I am leaning towards orange

orange orchids represent: pride, enthusiasm and boldness

Nobara is very proud of who she is. She strikes me as a person who is not afraid to tell her story, even though she despices the countryside where she is from. She also takes pride in staying true to herself all the time, to the point of admitting that she only enrolled in Jujutsu High so that she could move to Tokyo to Yuji, who was basically a stranger at that time

She is also very enthusiastic about her own future. She knows she won't ever like having to exorcise curses but somehow, being a Jujutsu sorcerer excites her.

plus points for her being enthusiastic about winning in the Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc and just beating up the Kyoto students

I don't need to mention her being enthusiastic about shopping and sightseeing in big cities, do I?

Bold? Oh, she is bold. She has no filter when it comes to speaking her mind and would never hesitate to put anyone in their place. I see her going places in Gojo's revolution... and cussing at the superiors.

Yellow symbolizes new beginnings and friendships. Nobara does not have any problems making new friends, she adapts fairly well in new environments. There's also the way she mourned for Yuji, despite "only knowing him for two weeks" and I don't even doubt for a second that it was her making him hold the black funeral picture frame when he came back lol

Pink: grace, femininity, joy + purple: royalty and admiration

There is no doubt that Nobara tries to enjoy her life to the fullest *cough* moving to Tokyo

Moreover, there is something about her that just screams "queen behavior" to me and I don't even mean that in the slang sense. Have you all seen how graceful this girl moves? (I would like to thank MAPPA at this point)

Nobara shows respect where it's due - I'm just gonna mention Maki here - but is a very admirable girl herself

Ryomen Sukuna - Snapdragon

please, the name already sounds a little dangerous

This flower shares a certain character trait with him: being unique

Snapdragons are usually associated with strength due to the way they even grow in rocky areas and if that's not screaming Sukuna's name, who is all about strength, then correct me

Deviousness is practically Sukuna's second name, so this symbol isn't exactly off the track either. Let me remind you about the way Sukuna and Mahito laughed at Yuji??

Graciousness: just like Nobara, he possesses some sort of grace that makes me percept him as a majestic being

but maybe that's just his throne of bones and title as King of Curses contributing

and him owning a shrine???

or maybe that is just the way he majestetically killed that special grade lol

"Only large insects like bumblebees can pollinate snapdragons because the petals are too heavy for smaller insects to push apart." I read this and if you reverse it a little, it somehow reminded me of the fact that Sukuna's fingers need to have a powerful vessel aka small fry won't do because they will simply die away.

Deception: despite being given the minimum amount of information about Sukuna in general, I just don't see him being anything but egoistic and evil. I just cannot picture it. So yeah, put everything evil in a pot, stir a little and don't be surprised if your result is not the Powerpuff girls but a four-eyed multi-talented and deceptive curse that is out to kill you for fun

Trust issues 100% He doesn't trust you at all when you try to befriend him. He hasn't had good experience with people and its made him hyper aware and more defensive. It takes a long time of relentless pestering and taking a few hits for him for Junpei to acknowledge you.

He's actually very quiet and hesitant around you when you both start to hang out, usually Itadori there to help break the ice. Surprisingly he's the one to ask if you'd like to date somebody like him and you immediately say yes which scares him lol.

It takes a long time before you guys are even engaged*. He still has trust issues and sadly at times either blames himself or you when things go wrong. There are nights when the tension is too much and your soon to be wife just needs space. But you're always there for him.

He's really not a people person so he's more prone to staying in his room and doing the cooking and cleaning but you'll drag him out at some point for fresh air. Tell him he shouldn't be afraid of the world because he has you. He might cry.

You brought him a soft yellow sundress once and caught him checking himself out in the mirror. Forever in the gallery.

Really enjoys soft kisses and hearing you say wonderful things about him. You cherish him, make him feel love, devote your time. Even when you too argue half the time he worries you'll leave him. However his affection for you is quite tame and his actions speak louder than words like having dinner ready or offering a massage. Listening to your complaints, correcting you when you're wrong.

He notices little things like your penmanship or if you mood changes. When you're having a bad day from the get go or if you're hiding a secret.

You give your soon to be wife more confidence.

He thinks the scars on his forehead is ugly and nothing you say helps but you try to accommodate by buying him concealer if it would help him feel better. It does.

He's really cute and can't look you in the eyes when he wants some privacy with you.

Brought makeup once and you two spent time trying on different colors and whatnot to see what went well. So sometimes when he kisses you, light pink gloss is left on your skin.

Movie dates are a thing with you and it's cute how he goes on rants about the film, the meaning, the setup, etc. He's so fire up and you kiss his cheek. He'll flush and yell at you but he doesn't hate it.

Low key a brat and does the thing where he pouts his lips and whines, nuzzling in your back when you're doing something. He wants attention sometimes. 💕 Twiddles his fingers when he knows he's gonna ask something outrageous.

When you pop the question if he'll marry you, if he would be your wife he says no. It's understandable and you make sure not to make him feel terrible. It's just overwhelming really, to do something like that. It takes a while for him to conclude he doesn't want to marry you but rather just be with you. When he explains that he's afraid you'll kick him to the curb.

But instead you hold your "wife" close, just glad he didn't break up with you.

Flicks your forehead if you call him waifu material.

At night time his jellyfish floats around and y'all chill with lofi music playing in the background.

He really really loves you but he never said the words.

When he cleans his nose twitches like a bunny before he sneezes.

He keeps a little notebook about you besides his film notes. He's considering starting a film/gaming blog on YouTube.

1. If Mahito is for example an ex in this situation and tries to go "hey long time no see" when you two are in public, he gets eerily quiet and grabs your hand to the point it hurts. What do you think makes a good villain? Do you have preferences? What kind of tips can you give about creating villains?

What do you think makes a good villain? Well it all depends honestly. Everyone has their specific view upon villains because there are so many types out there . It's honestly hard to find the perfect villain in general because every villain has it's own flaws and sometimes it can catch you off guard when ever they are displayed a specific way. To be a good villain is the type that they make you hate his guts and his entire existence with his actions , the type to actually give you a good scare and a good reason to be afraid of. The type that has a good story behind him explaining upon why they became a villain in the first place , I am usually a big sucker for tragic stories or even ones that are plain like 'I was born a psycho in the first place lol' , but of course there has to be some follow up on that , I am a big time in depth kind of person and I loved to dig into characters ideals and in general their entire purpose and existence . Of course lets not forget the design wise factor , love the detailed ones and I love the ones that are put out kind of plain to bamboozle you out of nowhere . But that is just my opinion really . Do you have preferences? Another little it depends , because I like different types of villain dynamics , from goofy ones to the ones that would live forever in your nightmares. I know my little favorite fans will start jumping at me the moment I start listing so yeah... lets go. I know maybe I haven't EXPLAINED MYSELF properly upon why I actually like Sukuna as a villain is because he is basically everything a main villain should be. Scary , deadly , don't take shid from no one , powerful and all the little traits and details . I love his story and I can't wait to see more of it , because I am starting to grow curious upon Getou , but I see him more as an anti hero more than anything . Of course Mahito is climbing up in there as well , he is a bit more of the goofy confident kind of type , but you can easily shut his mouth if approached correctly. I really enjoyed Rui from demon slayer as a short lived villain , but was he really? I love his story and how he was built and how they basically displayed him . The types of villains that were basically taken advantage of and built a specific way because of someone else brainwashing them completely like damn , those hit really hard , because they basically take advantage of a poor tortured soul that had nothing but misfortune in their life. Kisaki Tetta is building up in that chart as well. Perhaps I have yet to see more of him to hate him more , but the amount of hate I have for him is building up even more xD. He really manages to capture an interesting aspect of villains , he starts of as like a plain character , but starts to slowly build an empire , that's the build up I kind of live for. When they were from the start vs how they basically turn out later on is just mega mamma mia. I have more but my brain can't process properly xD. But in general I am usually always down to see all kind of villain dynamics , as long as they have that proper build up and background to just back it all up to prove them the title 'villain.' What kind of tips can you give about creating villains? I am not the best at giving tips , especially when it comes to creating characters , because everyone sees them differently and has a different kind of creativity when creating characters to fit roles . I don't want to sound mean or rude , but I've always been picky when it came to characters in general , because I thrive for explanation upon why the character is the way they are , their story , their ideals , their hopes and dreams and all that crazy shid . Of course I love a good plot twist as well . Give him the proper personality for a villain , you can always have fun too and just toy around and see what kind of dynamics suit best for your villain . Hell the ones that start off villains and end up on the good side are always the fun kind of dynamics as well . But it all depends on your seeing and ideas when making a character , it's your freedom and

you deserve to create what you like :3. But most importantly it's good when your villain's story kind of makes sense depending on where you want to fit him. Like if it's an original kind of universe the rules there are different , but when you fit it into an already existing universe , the rules can change big time , because you have to play by it's rules of that universe and at least follow the plot line xD... I am not the one to talk really lmfao , I have thrown in so much random bullshid in my own stories hahahha. But hey as long as you're having fun and enjoying your characters , hell don't ever be afraid to change them as well if you feel like you need some development for them when you see that it's lacking this and that , it's hard to develop characters in general so I understand the eternal struggle x__x; .
