Want to see Ron DeSantis kicked in the nuts for 20 minutes straight?
Sure you do.
There was a "debate" last night between presidential hopefuls Ron DeSantis (R-Gov Florida) and Gavin Newsom (D-Gov California).
The debate was hosted by Fox News and moderated by Trump sycophant Sean Hannity (R-Brain Weevils).
So Fox News set this thing up thinking they'd steamroll the poor weak blue state governor with Fox News talking points, while also giving Ron DeSantis a much needed shot in the arm. Ron's polling has been uh, disastrous... he is down 40+ points in FLORIDA. His home state.
Anyhow. They set up this gunfight and DeSantis' gun jammed. Repeatedly. He stood there like a taxidermied monkey, stupid fake grin on his face, while Newsom hammered him with facts.
It was glorious.
I don't usually recommend these MeidasTouch videos because I'd rather watch the subject matter itself than listen to somebody explain why I'm watching something. But THIS time it provides excellent context, and chops up what would be a multi-hour ordeal into nice digestible chunks. Watching anything on Fox News makes me want to smash things after three minutes.
Oh, and Newsom is not running to replace Biden.
He said (at this debate!) he is not gonna be the 2024 Democratic nominee. It's Biden all the way as far as he is concerned. No, he's positioning himself as the guy who comes after Biden.
And it's marvelous to watch.

Gov. Newsom signs bill to protect sexual assault victims' DNA
Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a state Senate bill into law Friday that prohibits the DNA collected from sexual assault victims to be used for anything other than identifying the suspect.
Senate Bill 1228 was introduced by San Francisco Senator Scott Wiener after the San Francisco Police Department was accused of using DNA from a victim’s rape kit to link her to a separate suspected crime earlier this year. When victims report a sexual assault, they can consent to a sexual assault examination, where biological evidence from bodily fluids, fingernail scrapings, and bite and scratch marks is collected from the victim’s body.
The victim submits their own DNA sample in order to exclude their DNA from an investigation. Additional samples may be collected from those who have close contact with the victim, such as consensual sexual partners and family members.
Federal law already prohibits the inclusion of victims’ DNA in the national Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), the DNA database used by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). This corresponding state law prohibits local authorities from retaining and using the sexual assault victims’ DNA samples for other purposes.

Big Libs in bed with big oil GASP!
Big Libs in bed with big oil GASP! It’s a good thing they solved the climate issue in Dubi or this might look SUPER hypocritical. The author suggests these families got intertwined prior to their “peaks of wealth and power”, they bonded over “old bones”, Science and wine AND the Getty’s only had a few billion at the time.
This is a very recent article did anyone else hear this on main stream media? It’s fascinating how privileged all of these Dems are.
Direct Quotes:
The Gettys, too, are on that list. Founded by oil baron J. Paul Getty who moved under the radar until his "outing" as the richest American by Fortune magazine in 1957, the subsequent four generations of his family have been in the spotlight navigating fields from environmentalism to fashion to business, music, digital archives, arts, LGBTQ rights and politics. With five wives, the patriarch of the dynasty, J. Paul Getty, fathered four sons who lived to adulthood, and the family tree has flowered to some 19 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
In the wake of the sale of the company in 1985 to Texaco for $10.1 billion—at that time the biggest corporate acquisition in history—$3 billion was partitioned into four separate trusts. Currently, the family's combined net worth could be in the neighborhood of $20 billion, which will finally be divided among all the heirs upon the death of J. Paul Getty's last living son—Gordon, currently 88.
As the family has navigated personal and professional successes and failures, it has also become inextricably enmeshed into the California political fabric, with longtime close family friendships developing between the Gettys and current Governor Gavin Newsom, Vice President Kamala Harris and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, as well as their families. William A. Newsom II, Gavin's grandfather, was a surrogate father to Getty sons John Paul Jr. and Gordon. William "Bill" Newsom III, Gavin's father, was even the bearer of the ransom money when John Paul III was kidnapped. Newsoms, Harrises, Pelosis and Gettys are godparents to one another's children and make appearances at important family events.
Left to their own devices, Paul Jr. and Gordon spent a good deal of time at the nearby home of their St. Ignatius prep school classmate, William "Bill" Newsom III, and his five siblings. This lively Irish-Catholic household was presided over by William A. Newsom II, a real estate developer and campaign manager for Edmund G. Brown, governor of California from 1959 to 1967 (whose son Jerry subsequently reclaimed the office in 1974 for the first of his four terms).
Their great affection for him endured. When Paul Jr. died at his mansion in England in 2003, a framed photograph of Newsom II was near his bed. This intimate family friendship between the Gettys and the Newsoms spanned generations, including Gordon's four sons—Peter, Andrew, John and Billy—and Bill's son— Gavin, California's 40th governor.
Since moving with her husband to the Pelosis' hometown of San Francisco in 1969, Baltimore-born Nancy had her hands full taking care of their four children; their fifth child was born in 1970. Though she'd grown up in a political household, the idea of herself taking office was still nearly two decades off.
As they grew up, Billy Getty and Gavin developed an appreciation of good wine from their fathers, both passionate oenophiles and best friends. In the years after these families met and became intertwined, as they rose to the peaks of wealth and power, there have been inevitable accusations of cronyism. But they bonded over old bones. They were all fascinated by the science—
At Billy's 1999 wedding to Vanessa Jarman, held on a ranch in Napa Valley, Judge Newsom officiated, and Gavin served as best man. Among the 165 guests was a new assistant district attorney in town, a 34-year-old up-and-comer named Kamala Harris, Vanessa's new friend. Two years later, Harris threw the shower before the birth of the couple's first son. When their daughter was born, Kamala was asked to be the godmother.
Over the years, Newsom political opponents have tried to weaponize his connections to the Gettys, portraying him as a child of privilege.
In the election cycle of 2020, some airtime was devoted to pondering Kimberly Guilfoyle's path from Gavin to fiancé Donald Trump Jr. "Life's interesting," Newsom said
Amid the pandemic, the Gettys were shaken by back-to-back tragedies. Ann, the matriarch, died of a heart attack, and son John, 52, was found dead in a San Antonio hotel room. According to the medical examiner's report, he died of "cardiomyopathy and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease [COPD], complicated by fentanyl toxicity."

Gavin Newsom secretly runs for president
He waits in the background for Biden to falter.
Tumblr media
Democrats are worried about President Biden.
Recent polling puts him behind former president Trump in almost all the critical swing states ahead of the 2024 election.
The president is trailing Trump in Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Georgia and Pennsylvania. Combined, the former president leads by 48% to 44%.
Voters are concerned about Biden’s age, and his ability to perform as president. 60% don't think the country is ‘on the right track’.
Enter Gavin Newsom.
The Observer reports that the 56 year old California governor has been running a quasi-shadow campaign in the background of the upfront primary races this year, attempting to burnish his own image in the eyes of Democrats and the country.
His political donations in South Carolina (an important early primary state) and his billboards attacking conservatives on gun laws and abortion rights haven't gone unnoticed.
His recent overtures (and a visit) to China are shoring up his international credentials that he can laud when he does eventually run.
And he's even set up a $10m Political Action Committee to spread democratic messaging to GOP states, established with the leftover cash from his 2022 gubernatorial campaign.
Newsom seems to be shouting loud and clear that if Biden ends up being unable to run, or is removed by an incident of health or an act of the party, he can step in quickly and competently.
He is doing so in opposition to the ambitions of Vice President Kamala Harris, who would typically be expected to succeed her party’s ailing president.
Newsom’s plan only works because Harris is just as unpopular as Biden, weighed down by his poor polling.
The only factor the VP beats him on is the age issue, although voters who are asked show a level of concern about her abilities to take over the Oval Office if Biden falters.
It isn't clear what amount of this is down to genuine distrust of her abilities, or fear of a woman becoming the country's commander-in-chief for the first time, but either way voters aren't comfortable.
The main problem with Newsom’s strategy is that there are no nationwide polls that pit him against Trump (or any of the other candidates for that matter).
There was a little polling in 2022, putting him just above Trump. But those same polls also but Biden ahead, so how accurate they are now is questionable.
With Newsom being a staunch liberal, and somewhat of a lightning rod for conservative criticism, his appeal to moderates and independents is also an unknown variable.
He comes under attack regularly, especially when California is compared to Florida, as the Floridian governor and presidential candidate in his own right, Ron Desantis likes to do.
The issues in Californian cities, like the opiod crisis and homelessness, are often blamed directly on Newsom’s tenure in the governors mansion.
This is in contrast to his domination of Californian politics in recent years, where he cruised to victory in a recall election in 2021, and easily won re-election in 2022 with 59% of the vote in the deep-blue state.
Whatever he does do, former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger thinks its inevitable that he'll take a crack at running for the top job.

Newsom signs bill to repeal anti-loitering prostitution law that trans activists say leads to bias
California has repealed an anti-loitering law designed to combat prostitution but that LGBTQ advocates say resulted in law enforcement targeting transgender women and women of color.
On Friday, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed SB357 by state Sen. Scott Wiener, D-San Francisco, which repeals a 1995 law that prohibits loitering in public places with the “intent to commit prostitution.” Wiener said the current loitering law is written so vaguely that it has led to police officers and prosecutors profiling trans, Black and Latino women.
Opponents have dubbed such laws “walking while trans” bans because of complaints of discrimination. They said California’s law allows police to cite people simply because of innocuous factors like how they dress or where they stand on the street.
“Everyone - no matter their race, gender or how they make a living - deserves to feel safe on our streets,” Wiener said in a statement.
Legislators approved the bill last year, but Wiener held it from going to Newsom’s desk so he could have more time to make the case to the governor. Wiener sent the bill to Newsom a few weeks ago, to coincide with LGBTQ Pride month.
