After a million pauses, I have finally figured out what Percy’s shirt says in the show while on the quest. For all my fellow ADHDers who can’t stop wondering what it says, here is the information I have gathered and my sources:

something something about percy's shirts matching sally and poseidon's shirts in the last episode.
something something about percy's flannel, his outermost layer, being green like poseidon's shirt, the color of his eyes, his father's eyes, but his t-shirt beneath being blue like sally's flannel, his favorite color, the color of the food she makes him.
something something about the first thing people see is that percy's the son of poseidon but inside percy is first and foremost always will be sally jackson's son.

where is the fucken whimsy?!?
obviously, it’s easy to critique stuff and say “what i would do if i were in charge” but i had thought? hoped? envisioned? a script helmed by riordan himself would at least be irreverently whimsical!
it’s almost like that was the expectation set by the tone of source material—imagine that! so how can it end up so self-serious and “epic” that it literally looks like a bleakly color-graded marvel flick???
i can’t tell if this is the fault of the show-runner, director, or editor.
i’ll blame riordan/disney+ since it just feels right.

Batfamily (and other) Headcanons that will be canon in my DC timeline:
-Dick is Pansexual. Show me this man in romantic relationships with more than just woman. I also feel like he has potential to be a sex positive icon which I feel is important. Sex portrayed as something that can be fun and casual, not explicitly reserved for romantic partners and situations.
(edited to rephrase and remove offensive language towards the pan community)
-Jason is Asexual. Get some ace representation but also give him some healthy romantic relationships where sex is not the center or a necessity. (I’m partial to Jason/Roy but to each their own)
-Jon Kent is dyslexic. Insert Percy Jackson reference about his brain being wired for kryptonian, but no, the dyslexia comes from Lois.
-Jason was absolutely theater kid before his death who managed to get the lead role almost every time, and somehow maintained a healthy schedule of theater rehearsals, good grades, and patrols.
-building off of the last one, Jason is Bruce’s favorite allowing him to get away with pretty much anything, but no one notices this because Jason is convinced Bruce hates him, and everyone else (understandably) believes Cass is the favorite.
-Cass took up gardening after watching Alfred tend to the rose bushes out front, and is now responsible for the very impressive garden on the Wayne Estate. She loves being to create and nurture life instead of kill, like the was born and raised to. Jason also taught her the language of flowers and she has little flowerbeds for each member of the family. Only Jason knows what they mean (also Alfred but he knows everything)
-Tim isn’t a caffeine addict, but he does have severe insomnia and ADHD. Because of that, caffeine typically has the opposite effect on him, hence why he always seems to be drinking a cup. Either for the placebo effect to stay up and finish a case, or to make him tired enough to fall asleep.
-Damian struggles to connect with people and express gratitude, appreciation, and love. He asked Cass about her garden one day and very intently sat and listened while she taught him about the language of flowers. Each family member woke up the next morning to a drawing of a bouquet of flowers pinned to the door with a knife (Jason has his framed in a safehouse he is fairly sure none of his family knows about)
-The batcave has a secret vault of “bad ideas” which was started by Dick as a child with the original Robin suit Bruce designed (it had pants) along with videos of Dick wearing said costume and falling off of gymnastics bars. (Think of the video explaining why strippers don’t wear clothes with the person falling off the pole over and over)
-Bruce is autistic. He gives off tism vibes (you’re trying to tell me that a man who dresses up as a bat and fights crime as a trauma response to watching his parents be murdered in front of him is neurotypical?) and I also want to see more a positive autism representation in main characters in media.
-Dick’s use of made up words such as “aster” and “whelmed” come from the fact that he spoke very little English when he was first adopted by Bruce, and decided that using obviously made up words made his slip ups less noticeable, or people would assume he did it on purpose. Even after he mastered English, he continued using his made up words because they just made sense (the batcomputer and jl database have a hidden file called the “DICKtionary” unlinking all his words and their meanings)
-Jason can’t drive. He died when he was 15 (you have to be 16 in Jersey to get your permit), was revived in Nanda Parbat so there was no need to drive, and was too embarrassed to mention it by the time he returned to Gotham and the Batfamily. This is his deepest, darkest, secret.
-As a child, Dick was convinced Batman was a vampire (and still isn’t entirely convinced otherwise)
-Tim collects little trinkets. Dick noticed this early on, and made sure to get a little souvenir trinket for Tim every time he went on a trip. Bruce noticed and started doing the same thing, and so did his friends after a while. Tim proudly displays his collection, because to him, each trinket is a reminder that people are thinking about him and care about him. (Most of his possessions in Drake Manor were necessities like clothes, or things he had bought for himself. Barely anything was a gift)
-Jason has OCPD, and needs things to be an exact certain way, and struggles when they aren’t. It’s one of the biggest reasons why he is often so frustrated with Bruce, who tends to do things in a different, certain way.
-Cass is actually the most neurotypical in the family, though because she has learned how to be a person through observing, she has picked up on many neurodivergent traits, specifically stimming.
-Steph’s aesthetic is retro pastel pop, mixed with maximalism. She loves bright colors and loud designs (though purple is still her favorite by far)
-Alfred keeps guns stashed all over the house in case of emergencies. Bruce hates this and has tried to remove them, but has given up as he can never seem to find them all. Alfred also brought up the good point of “I am not a vigilante like you, Master Bruce, and I am not quite as young as I used to be. If there is ever an invasion of the manor, I would quite enjoy the security of being able to protect myself.”
-There is a list of who is banned from the kitchen. Bruce is at the top of the list, Tim isn’t allowed to make anything more complex than instant food, Cass and Damian aren’t very good, but at least make an effort to learn so are therefore allowed with supervision. Dick has a partial ban. He is an absolute disaster in the kitchen, except for soups, and sarma (his mother’s recipe was one of the few things he brought with him from the circus and was obsessed with perfecting it as a kid, leading it to be one of the only things he can actually make) Steph isn’t allowed to cook, but she is a proficient baker. Duke isn’t a horrible cook, but mainly avoids the kitchen, preferring to stay out of Alfred’s way. Jason is the only batfamily member who is not banned from the kitchen under any circumstances. He has a tendency to stress cook, and likes trying new fancy recipes, because on the streets he only ate what he could find. This gives him a sense of control.
-Superman wasn’t a great dad to Connor at first, opting to send him to the farm to stay with Ma and Pa, but after a stern talking to from Bruce, came around started making an effort. Connor is an excellent big brother to Jon.

9 People to Know Better (except I'm not tagging 9 people)
I don't normally do tag games, but I got tagged in this twice (by @jealous-kippen and @remmixx, my beloveds <3) so here I am! (also as I'm writing this out I am realizing that while both posts were titled the same way, it looks like they had different question prompts??? So I'm just gonna combine the two)
Favorite Color: Purple! Any shade will have my heart but I am partial to more red-toned purples. (PV, if that means anything to anyone who sees this other than me, you know who you are)
Currently Reading: Three things! In terms of actual books, I've been slowly making my way through the Riordanverse since my university did The Lightning Thief in my second year (first school in my state to do it once the rights were released!) since I somehow never got into Percy Jackson as a kid, and I'm currently on Son of Neptune. I'm also one like my third or fourth re-read of Eurydice by Sara Ruhl, since that's the play I'm designing the costumes for for my senior project. And in terms of fanfic, I woke up to a notification about this yesterday and Actually Screeched.
Last Song: Dial Drunk by Noah Kahan (ft. Post Malone), which was a bit of an accident. I use siri to request music while I'm driving and I asked for Dial Drunk and was singing along until I got jumpscared by the slight difference before Post Malone's verse. Although if you look at my spotify, the ROTPL album has been on repeat for weeks.
Currently Watching (Series): I've been hyperfixated on ROTPL and have watched it over a dozen times at this point, which is probably not healthy, so I put on NCIS last night for background noise while I ate dinner and accidentally watched like six episodes.
Currently Watching (Movie): Saw the Barbie movie the night before the actual opening with my coworkers (We don't cross picket lines people! I was not asked nor invited by any company, and I paid full price for my ticket. There's a one-screen theatre in the town where I'm doing summer stock, this relic from the 50's, and they were able to get access to the film a day early and did a special first come first serve premiere.) and we all sobbed the entire way through.
Current Obsession: Rise of the Pink Ladies. Full stop. I'd seen clips of it when it first aired in April but I was iffy on it in spite of how good it looked. Like most, I'm a little tired of reboots and remakes, and while I did clock Cynthia as being queer within two seconds, (I believe my exact words were "That's either a very butch lesbian or the eggiest egg to ever egg.") I was Convinced it was a queerbait situation. Plus I was nearing finals and didn't have time to get into a new show. But then Crushing Me was trending on tiktok and I realized this was not queerbait, so I put it on to have something playing while I packed for summer stock and it's been the only thing I can think about since mid May. It got me writing fanfic again for the first time in years, if that tells you anything. Speaking of,
Currently Working On: A follow-up to my previous fic, Steady, Steady! I wanted to have it up this week, but it is a behemoth. I'm a little over halfway through my plot outline and I'm at 10,441 words. Fun fact, this will be my longest single-chapter fic so far. Not just in the fandom, not just on AO3, but ever (so far!)
No-Pressure Tagging: @merely-a-player, @penguin-writes-books, @el-fandom-birb, @marley-barnes112, @isweartheyregayyourhonor, and @look-at-those-niceass-rocks (since I've already dragged you back to tumblr kicking and screaming)

On changes from the book:
I swear to god, you can make the most book honoring, well made, incredible book adaptation with an amazing cast and the author of the books writing, producing, and co-directing it, with an incredible score, impeccable set design, and great costumes and people will still find a couple of minuscule details to complain about. Guys, this is literally the best that it gets, and it's incredible. Of course some things were changed from the books, it's a completely different medium and the books are almost twenty years old. I love the books with my whole heart, and I can tell you exactly the spots that didn't age well, and I can tell you I'm grateful that they were changed. I can point out the time, effort, and heart that went into every little detail. I can praise the actors for pouring their whole soul into this.
When the finale for The Owl House came out, I made a conscience decision that I loved it, and I wasn't going to let anything get in the way of me and my love for it. I am allowed to enjoy things, I am allowed to love them, and that is enough. I love the TV adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and I trust that any changes that are made are the right ones and needed to be made. The season isn't over yet guys! Stop getting ahead of yourselves.
It's the best book-to-screen adaption that I have ever seen. It adds something to the mix, it's own flair and moments that work and, dare I say it, are valuable, and (in some parts) are better than the books because they fixed parts that didn't work as well. It exceeded my very high expectations, but you should not let expectations ruin your excitement.
TL;DR: You can love things not just despite the parts that didn't live up to your expectations, but because of them. Stories are allowed to grow. The season isn't over yet either, maybe you just need to (tw for Good Omens fans) Wait and See.

So, Percy Jackson and The Olympians. To say that I have been excited for this show is perhaps a bit of an understatement. I have been waiting for a faithful, quality adaptation of these books since I was a boy. It's been a road fraught with many disappointments, but at last, it is here.
Tumblr media
My feelings on this outing are overwhelmingly positive. There are some criticisms, to be sure, and we'll get to them momentarily, but I really can not emphasize enough how impressed I am with this. By far its greatest qualities are casting and production design. The choices made in these departments are simply inspired. Walker Scobel has proven himself a perfect pick for the part of Percy Jackson, and Leah Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri have as well. Special praise really must be given to Virginia Kull, who so artfully exudes not only the love and care but also the fiersome determination that have defined Sally Jackson for millions of readers around the world, myself included. The sets and costumes are stellar. The design of the cabins and grounds is beyond anything even I had imagined them to be. They have a rugged, lived-in look but nonetheless contain an essential lement of awe and wonder. James Bobin's direction perfectly captures these feelings in a way very similar to how Chris Colombus captured the arrival at H*gw*rts in his own films. Let's hope Rick Riordan never ruins this for us the way Jowling Knowling Rowling has for her own increasingly embattled fans.
There are, of course, problems. Every production has them. I think the most glaring so far is the characterization of Gabe Ugliano. Gabe has the distinction of being one of the most loathsome characters in the series, standing up even against the likes of Kronos. He represents a very real evil that many children are sadly forced to endure, and a key part of The Lightning Thief is Percy and Sally's victory over and liberation from Gabe and his abuse. What we have here is a man being played for comic relief. He's an asshole for sure, but he doesn't strike me as a problem that can only be reminded with a long hard look at Medusa's face. I would like to see Percy and Sally's abuse taken more seriously.
I'm also not so sure about some of the corners that are being cut here. I understand that this is still only an adaptation, and that Disney is only willing to pay for so much, but large chunks of the story before Percy's arrival at Camp Halfblood have been removed from the story. The sequence with the oracle has been removed as well, and the attack by the hellhound also. Both of these things become very important down the road, the oracle especially, and I do not see the benefit in removing them. There is also information being presented far too early, especially Sally's survival. Her reveal as Hades' trump card in the Underworld was a punch in the gut when I was a boy, and I am saddened that something so tense and dramatic will now be lost in translation.
Still, I am very happy with this production. The good outweighs the bad a thousand to one, and I am greatly anticipating the release of the next episode on December 27. We will speak more of this then.

I made a hypothetical roster for a Percy Jackson Fighting game
Tumblr media
Info Dumping about specific ideas under the cut (beware of spoilers):
Also, the order of the characters is spoilery, sorry.
General Concepts:
Takes story place at a tournament at Camp Jupiter’s coliseum
The Super meter leads to a character calling upon the blessing of a god (or other powerful figure). Usually their parents, with a few exceptions. I think there’d be an in-universe rule that that fighter would need to prove their skill before they’d get their godly blessing.
The character designs would be based off of the illustrations for the books. I could see the characters getting costumes based on their show counterparts. But I don’t think Rick Riordan would want costumes based on the movie versions
Base Roster:
Percy Jackson: the accessible protagonist. Standard sword attacks. Some water based ability. Supper is the blessing of Poseidon, which stars with a tidal wave to knock enemies off balance, and then gives his moves more water based properties and boosted damage.
Annabeth Chase: maybe her invisibility cap could be a counter. Even though she lost her dagger, I think I’ll still give her one, making her a fighter who needs to strategically sneak around to find opponent’s openings. I think she could also use her Drakon bone sword. Maybe a bit of a stance fighter, to add to the strategy? Super is the blessing of Athena, which slows down the enemy, making it easier to plan against them
Grover Underwood: He uses nature magic, so he’d be more of a zoner. Maybe some kicking attacks too, considering the goat legs His super is the blessing of Pan, which leads his opponents Panics, thus debuffed and hard to control for a bit.
Tyson: A grappler, I could see him also having some club attacks. I’m already doubling up on Blessings unfortunately. I think his Poseidon blessing could put more focus on the Earthshaker aspect, while Percy’s would be more water based. As for why Poseidon would pick favorites if her and Percy fought…eh, gameplay and story segregation
Clarisse La Rue: A rushdown character. Different attacks use different weapons, with her electric spearbeing her default. . Her blessing would be Ares, giving her a huge attack and speed buffs
Thalia Grace: A zoner, using her arrows and  her lighting spear to attack from a long range. Her Shield can reduce damage to those who do manage to get in close. I was debating whether to give her the blessing of Zeus or Artemis…but then I discovered she’d be the only child of Zeus on the base roster. It’d give longer range on lighting attacks
Nico di Angelo: A puppet fighter who uses zombies and skeletons to attack. He can also get behind opponents with shadow travel.  He gets the blessing of Hades, leading to more puppets on screen at once
Rachel Elizabeth Dare: My self indulgent weird pick. I could see her using everyday objects to fight (like the hairbrush she hit Kronos with once). She’d deal low damage and have lower HP, but because of her powers and divine protection as the Oracle, and her divine protection she’d be decently evasive. Her blessing would be the Oracle of Delphi, which would make her future sight so advanced she can’t be hit when it activates. So she’d be the weakest character until she gets the blessing, and then becomes OP while it’s active.
My memories of Heroes of Olympus is a bit fuzzier, so I’ll do my best here
Piper McLean: A short ranged character who fights with a dagger. She can also debuff and stun opponents with Charmspeak. The Blessing of Aphrodite makes these effects even more devastating.
Leo Valdez: He attacks with both metaphorical and literal firepower. Always summoning some new tool or contraption, and always setting up some new trap on the stage. With the Blessing of Hephaestus, He fights with red hot weaponry His tools deal even more damage, and gain a fire effect. I could also see it summoning a mini replica of Festus
Frank Zhang: A stance fighter. By default he uses bows and arrows, but he can shift to being a shapeshifter. He can start a combo as one and end as the other. With the Blessing of Mars, he also becomes stronger and faster. Unlike Poseidon, I think it makes more sense for Ares to play favorites
Hazel Levesque: Would it be practical to have her ride a horse? She’d also have a lot of earth based abilities, and I could see her using gems and projectiles. I could see her also using shadow travel With the Blessing of Pluto, gems sprout to the ground doing damage to her opponent.
Reyna Ramírez-Arellano: She has a spear that can shift into a sword, as well as a dagger, so I can see another stance fighter. With the Aegis Cloak, she can be very tanky. The belling of Bellona will boost her attack and speed, but lower some of that tough defense. (Maybe she lets go of the cloak to focus more on offense)
I never read Trials of Apollo, so I’m relying on the wiki for ideas
Will Solace: Another archer. He also can use light based attacks. He’s more of a healer, so now I’m wondering if the game should be team based. But I’m not sure there’s enough characters to support that
Apollo/Lester Papadopoulos: The Sun god himself. I think he’d turn himself mortal gain to give the others a fighting chance, but would access his god powers for his super meter. He’d have light abilities, archery, and some sword attacks at closer range. The gift of prophecy could give him some good counters
Meg McCaffrey: Probably a zoner with plant based abilities. They’d intensify with the Blessing of Demeter.
Lavinia Asimov:   Slow, heavy attacks with her Manubalista. But she’d mainly rely on her dancing abilities to fight. With the Blessing of Terpsichore, she can move faster and combo easier
Lityerses: A hard hitting rushdown character. He’s never shown plant abilities, so I think the blessing of Demeter would just heal him a bit
Bosses: (I’ll make them unlockable. I don’t like characters in the game you have to buy)
Main Boss: Ares (For now anyway). Obviously the god of war would want to get involved in a tournament. I admit it’s a bit questionable, seeing how Percy beat him when he was 12, but it’d probably be a lot harder to actually beat him over just getting 1st blood. He would be a big damage, unga bunga character, and when he activates his super meter, he’d take off his glasses revealed his eyes of fire, and get even tougher
There’s the question why Ares would boost Clarisse and Frank when he’s trying to win. Uh, gameplay and story segregation. Or maybe he wants to fight them at their best to prove his strength.
Secret Dream Match:  (Do well enough, and you get a non-canon super though bonus boss fight against)
Luke Castellan: A strong, ruthless swordsman. He’d hit fast, hit hard, and have a very useful counter. Instead of his parent, his blessing will be from Kronos, which swaps Backbiter with Kronos’s scythe, and boosts his power. In the final round against him, he’ll permanently be in blessing mode, completely possessed by Kronos, just like in the Last Olympian. I just think it’s fitting for the final boss to be the same as the original series.
DLC Season 1 (Dead characters) (SPOILERS)
Jason Grace: I learned he died because of unfortunate wiki walking. He’d be a stance fighter with Juno’s Gladius switching from sword to spear. He’d have eclectic and wind abilities as well to provide range. The Blessing of Jupiter would be a straightforward attack buff, but I could see a thunderstorm being summoned as well.
Charles Beckendorf: A similar playstyle as Leo, but slower and heavier, and without fire. The blessing of Hephaestus would extend the size and range of his attacks and traps
Silena Beauregard:  A similar move set to Piper, but with a more medium range since she uses a sword
Zoe Nightshade: An zoner with hero bow. Would get the blessing of Artemis, improving her range and giving her attacks a homing element.
Bianca Di Angelo: Another zoner, with the ability to summon the occasional zombie. She’d gain an every powerful puppet with the Blessing of Hades. This is an interesting case, since she never knew her father.
Daedalus/Quintus: Another Swordmaster. Maybe some technology. And Mrs. O’ Leary as an assist DLC season 2 (Crossover characters)
Carter Kane: He’d fight with a Khopesh, which would temporarily disarm the appointment if you strike at the right time. He can also turn into a falcon, and temporary turn his opponents into creatures. He’d have some long ranged spells as well. His blessing would tap into his power as the avatar of Horas, boosting his physical abilities
Sadie Kane: A long ranged magic user. She’d fight with a staff and wand. Her blessing would tap into the power as the Avatar of Isis to boost her speed and range.
Magnus Chase: A puppet fighter, with Jack as the puppet. He could provide buffs and healing to himself. Another argument for having a team mechanic, since he excelled at healing and boosting others. The Blessing of Frey would provide healing and an omniboost
Alex Fierro: A rushdown shapeshifter. She could turn into various animals, and even into other fighters. She’d also have a Garrote Wire for some neutral tracks. The “blessing” of Loki would cause her to randomly transform her into another character for a brief amount of time, as well as mess up the controls of her opponent.I’d cause chaos for both size, which I think is fitting for Loki

Just some quick personal thoughts on Netflix’s adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender before it premieres tomorrow.
I know I’ve not been as active the last couple years, especially in the Kataang and AtLA fandom, but I started this blog for Kataang and AtLA and it will always be a blog for Kataang and AtLA. And it’s been a while since I’ve talked about my favorite fandom and ultimate OTP.
First and foremost, I think the adaptation is completely unnecessary (same goes for the HTTYD live-action movie that’s currently being filmed). The story has been told in a visual medium already through its original animated series.
That said, I feel this live-action series will be an improvement over the 2010 film, though that is admittedly a very low bar to clear.
Despite that I feel it’s unnecessary, I do intend to watch it after I rewatch the first season of AtLA. I want the first season fresh in my mind because I’m planning to do some level of a review of each episode as I watch it, if anyone’s interested.
My expectations for the show are that it will be… okay. Somewhat good even. Slightly above average.
From the trailers and clips released so far, I have hopes for some aspects of the adaptation and disappointment and irritation with other elements. It seems like they’ve handled some concepts well (set design, costumes, casting, visual effects, some character bonding moments, expanding upon some of the lore and characters, etc.) while it appears they may have failed to grasp the significance of key plot points and character arcs (Aang is a kid, please let him be a kid and have his fun; Sokka needs to grow as a person; Katara needs to relearn how to be a kid and have fun; Ozai scarred Zuko because Zuko refused to fight him during their Agni Kai, so why is there apparently a fully choreographed fight?).
I’m hoping I’m proved wrong on the rumored issues regarding plot points and character arcs.
I understand there are always differences between adaptations, but some of these things do worry me.
All of this said, please do not attack the cast and crew if you dislike the show. Criticism is fair, but do not go after the people who worked on this adaptation, no matter how much you disagree with some (or all) of the decisions.
And I think most importantly, be kind to newcomers to the fandom and if they liked the show, encourage them to watch the original animated series. We have an opportunity to show people that the original series is worthy of its praise and that any adaptation, no matter how well done, won’t be able to recapture the essence and beauty that made the original series so special.
I say this because it was only thanks to the live-action adaptations of One Piece and Percy Jackson that got me interested in the originals. It wasn’t that I never had an interest in them, but I had other shows/books/fandoms/interests that overshadowed them for literal years. Now I’m planning to read the OP manga and the PJO books once I’ve got some free time. And I imagine I’ll enjoy them both more than the live-action adaptations.
Last, but not least, I’m hoping to see some bonding between the main trio and especially hoping the Kataang friendship is strong. I doubt there will be any indications of anything romantic, but if they at least handle Katara and Aang’s friendship well, it will serve as a foundation for any romance in potential future seasons.
So, these are my ramblings.
If anyone is interested in me reviewing the episodes, let me know and I’ll try my best to write them up when I get a chance.
In conclusion, be respectful of the cast and crew, be kind to fandom newcomers (and please do not incite ship wars), be open-minded about the show if you watch it, but also do not be afraid to critique the adaptation.
