Cass, Steph, Duke, and Jason do not have a relationship or rely on the JL. Jason probably is already upset at the JL for a variety of reasons. All that would change if the batfam is Team Tim would be those batkids being colder to the JL. Maybe they also pull off pranks.

In the end, those Batkids would be the equivalent of hearing your sibling talking about their toxic workplace and hating those fuckers (who you rarely see/interact with) on principle.

For Damian? It's a toss-up. It depends on how he views Tim and the JL. If Damian wants to become Batman, he might see the JL as a necessary step for that. He might need to have several conversations with various family members and his friends (like Colin and Jon) to understand his own position and thoughts on the JL.

For Babs, I hc she helped them a lot with their systems and other work. She probably feels guilty about Tim (not believing/supporting him and his traumatizing trip he did alone). If she was also on Team Tim, she would pass all system management to Vic and maintain a slightly frosty professional distance from them. Her Birds of Prey would become aware that she helps them, but she only assists the JL in dire circumstances.

Dick would have mixed feelings about it. He kind of told other heroes that Tim wasn't to be trusted and that he was having a mental breakdown due to grief. Now, what they did with that information is not Dick's fault. They should have supported the teenager and understood that Dick was also crumbling under his grief/responsibilities. So, Dick feels conflicted. He wants to make it up to Tim, though, and probably maintains a more professional distance from JL.

Alfred is also guilty of not being there for Tim when he needed help and care. However, I like to imagine he makes very pointed comments at JL members when they visit for their direct actions in that situation.

I do think that the batkids join together to mutually say "fuck you" to the JL, but in their own ways.

Batman/Bruce is iffy. On one hand, people like to use the BruceQuest as Bruce's kick in the pants to be a better father. On the other hand, he does his whole Batman Inc shit and is in Gotham less. So, it depends on how you picture him dealing with that trauma and his relationships with his family. If he's doing the less local Batman stuff, then he's probably more with the JL (and thus not on his kids' side).

The short answer is mods, BUT that answer does not do justice to the absolute JOURNEY it took to drag this little man all the way down to the streets of Krat. So! We begin at the Path of Misery.

I crash the game approximately three times trying to get him out of there. Eventually I settle on a system of teleporting him along with me and (at risk of making the game a tad less stable) freezing enemy animations to get through unharassed.

Not that that matters much for Gio cause enemies don’t care much abt NPCs but they very very much care about Pino and Pino is the lynch pin that keeps the game areas loaded under our feet.

Next was the lift. This is where I fully expected our journey to end. It almost did because Gio was not meant to be on a moving platform and would fall upwards and outwards out of the lift and into the shadow realm (he’d fall out of the world and despawn)

It took me FOUR tries to find the spot to stand so I could hold him in place so he wouldn’t fly away.

Everything went pretty smooth at Venigni works. Hilariously enough I accidentally talked to him while trying to climb a ladder and the first thing he had to say was “Ah! Mercy! I beg you! Don’t kill me!”

Nah don’t worry Gio, we’re just on a field trip.

Finally! We reach town! I’m howling with laughter and my friends are on the other end of the line like “Oh my god, you finally did it but WHY?!”

Because NPCs have a string of numbers after their ID that generates upon loading the map they’re in. Therefore even if I have their ID, there’s no way to get the numbers needed to place them down. Therefore I resorted to dragging Gio through all the places linked WITHOUT load screens. So theoretically this will work for other NPCs standing around in areas linked without load screens too!

And down the stretch comes murder

I wanted to take this moment to highlight the adorable child actors they got- Liam James and Carlos McCullers II. They are so perfectly cast as Shawn and Gus and they do such an amazing job! Im so impressed by them 👏👏

The whole spitball incident really highlights the differences between Shawn and Gus’ ethics. Shawn feels guilty for thinking he got the wrong spitter and ruined Jimmys life while Gus actually did it and feels no remorse at all. Perhaps it’s because Jimmy tortured Gus more, but it’s also come up a few other times i believe, that Gus is not above revenge nor is always willing to do the right thing if it interferes with his safety or his own code of justice, whereas with Shawn it’s like he can’t rest until he’s made things right. This, in addition to the ways he looks out for people (helping Lassie solve a case without him knowing, helping juliet find some kids without getting paid, standing between Gus and a gun), I think is why i tend to be more drawn to Shawn. I love tender-hearted morally just characters. Im not saying he’s always riding the high horse (pun intended), simply that at the end of the day you know he’s going to do the right thing. Don’t get me wrong, i love a morally ambiguous character too, and if I’m honest Gus’s outlook is certainly more realistic, but if i had to pick a favorite, i want the reliably good and wholesome over the self-serving. Not that im saying Gus is selfish at all, but of the two Shawns more our hero, even compared to his own cop father. I think Juliet is the only one who comes closest to matching that above and beyond heroism. I think the only reason she’s a step below is because Shawn simply notices others more. Thats all. If Juliet had Shawns abilities she’d be just as on top of it as him, probably more so. Actually she might get overwhelmed by seeing it all and not being able to help everyone. I think it’d be really hard for her to ignore sometimes. Which, okay I’m going down a tangent, but do you think Shawn had to learn to shut it off sometimes or like, learn to walk away? Cause i imagine day to day Shawn’s seeing people dealing with grief, abuse, or pain and with as kind as he is, it must be hard for him to ignore. Like if you’ve ever seen Daredevil, I’m imagining a less dramatic version of that haha

Henry will take any opportunity to point out Shawns failings or try to make him feel less than. Shawn tells him he’s there for a case and instead of asking him about it, Henry goes right back into you never could be a good handicapper because you lack the patience and follow-through it takes to put the time in and research. Also, the line “i let him talk to me” just doesn’t sit right with me even if the guy did turn out to be a skeeve. This kind of stuff makes me think Shawn either learned how to respect people from his mother or refused to treat people like his father. Probably both, though i hate to give her credit for anything haha

Look at his smile when he sees Lassie feed the horse. He’s so warmly amused by him. I wasn’t a Shassie shipper originally (as i just didn’t ship ppl in ye olden days) but i think I am now. I see it guys, I get it haha

These scenes are what makes the episode for me! I love them! We get to see both Shawns interacting and how he utilizes his vast memory, taking a peak into his mind palace so to speak. Plus he literally answered that common question of if you could go back in time what would you tell your younger self? (“Think big!”) I know they never really intended for this to be like a deep scene (nor expected certain fans to overanalyze it haha) but i like how he approaches the kid version of himself with a certain degree of amusement. Like I imagine if i was seeing my young self I’d probably be rolling my eyes at my sheer stupidity, but Shawns a lot kinder to himself haha Also little Shawns line “I thought I’d be bald by 20” was fucking gold! I wish I had better words for why this works so well but all i have is that it does and its brilliant.

IWTV Ep3 Musings - Claudia & Louis (Spoilers)

I'm still teary & choked up while typing this. SUPER emotional episode. It's incredible how much they packed into one ep, too! But the second half of the ep was BY FAR the most emotionally impactful IMO. Jacob's acting is just WAY too good; he had me choking up something fierce.

Louis taking pictures of his food for no effing reason like all the social media girlies do; I love it.

Louis STILL tryna be Claudia's knight in vengeful black. U_U But just like before when he tried to save her from Lestat, he can't save her from Bruce or the Theatre or even his own eff-ups. DANG. 😔

They're slumming it in a studio, sleeping in the living room, as neither has their own room & she has to use a Murphy Bed. Major step below 1132; the exact opposite of how book!Claudia & Lou lived in Parisian opulence--highlighting my point that AMC!Claudia got NOTHING out out being a vampire.

But it's also pointing out how Louis covers all the cracks--in his MIND, in the lies he tells himself, just to live with the glaring problems he desperately wants to cover up & deny.

This is SO bizarre, cuz in this version Lou KNOWS Lestat's not really dead! In the book Lou set him on FIRE. So ofc he'd think Les was really dead. But here it makes no sense why he's carrying all this guilt!

Armand knew Lou & Claudia LIED, sure--but he SHOULD know Lestat's still ALIVE--he's probably chained up in the Theatre basement in one of those friggin "wet room burial vaults!"

Tony basically scaring his kid during the whole Iron Man 2 movie because of his self destroying tendencies (becoming Iron Man, blood toxicity, leaving his job at S.I, the race car incident, his crazy birthday party…). Obviously the kid is scared! So his daughter stays at Pepper’s maybe for the meantime he is trying to heal and create that new element, but he eventually ends up going to her to apologize and take her back home because he can’t live without his baby girl with him

You loved your father, yes. But it became hard as he began to be very reckless. It had been weeks since he had even spoken to you.

He was your best friend. And he suddenly stopped speaking and spending time with you. You were beyond confused, especially since you were only 8 at the time.

You had a terrible day at school. And you would have gone to tony about it, but you didn't think he would even listen. So you went to happy, who was the one who picked you up because your dad was "too buzy".

"Happy?" You said, getting his attention.

"Yeah kid" he said looking away from the road to glance at you, then ultimately back to the road.

"I had a bad day, can i talk about it?" You asked sadly.

"Of course, go ahead" then you began to ramble on and on about your terrible day. Happy, unlike tony, listened to every word that came out of your mouth.

When you arrived at the Malibu house, you headed straight to your room. Not expecting anyone to be there, but when you walked in you were greeted by pepper, sitting on your bed casually.

"Hey pep" you said walking into the large bedroom. She noticed how your eyes were drooped, and you were frowning. You were clearly upset.

"Y/n? Whats wrong sweetheart" she asked with kind eyes.

"Daddys been not spending time with me, i cant even remember last time he talked to me. And i had a bad day today, just sad..." you said, holding back tears.

Pepper noticed this and immediately took you into her arms. You began to cry into her shoulder. Small sobs coming from you. Wrapping your arms tightly around her neck.

"And hes been really dangerous and.....can i stay with you for now?" You asked, pulling away from her, and she immediately answered

"Of course sweetie" she said as you began sobbing once again. A few moments later she helped you pack a bag.

tony was in the workshop when he suddenly remembered it was recently his birthday week, you always got him one handmade present per day on the week of his birthday. But he hadn't seen you In a while.

He went up to your bedroom, but you weren't there. He checked the whole house in fact, he was about to call the police when Jarvis spoke up.

"Sir, ms stark is at ms potts house."

"What, why?" He decided not to come retrieve you right now. Given that he could put you in more danger then you already are in. But after 3 days, this took a pretty hard hit on little 8 year old you.

You thought he wasn't coming because he didn't care, did he even love you anymore? You would ask yourself that all the time. You even ditched one of your soccer games. (Or whatever sport you participate in)

Pepper and happy were your entire support system. You didn't think that anyone cared about you anymore, except happy and pepper.

One day, (just after he created the new element and destroyed his garage) there was a knock at the front door, pepper opened it and upon seeing tony standing there, she tried to shut it in his face. But he stopped it with his hand. You were peeking around a corner, and accidentally made eye contact with tony. Immediately stepping back so he couldn't see you.

"Y/n/n? Baby?" You slowly walked out from your hiding place. And saw that he was wearing his matching black sabbath shirt. And had something behind his back.

Slowly, you walked up to him, he knelt down to be on eye level with you. And spoke up.

"Y/n, i am so, so sorry baby. I shouldn't have done the things I did. Im sorry. And if you dont wanna forgive me, i get it-" He said choking back tears, being interrupted by you throwing your arms around his neck.

"Its okay daddy" you mumbled into his shoulder. That's when he broke. Sobbing into you, he held you tight. He didn't deserve your forgiveness, your kindness, but you always believed in second chances.

Pulling away from this hug, he held the back of your neck, you leaned forward and kissed his cheek, he closed his eyes for a small moment before saying something

"And plus you forgot philip" he said holding up a teddy bear. You gasped and snatched the stuffed animal.

He took you back home, you sat in the passenger seat, holding onto his arm the whole way home.

When you arrived at the house, you walked in holding tonys hand and saw the whole place practically destroyed. The entire living room covered in black as if something had exploded, and a hole in the floor.

You stopped walking immediately, tony being jerked back since you were holding him.

"WHAT DID YOU DO!?" you screamed out. He chuckled, and lead you upstairs to his bedroom and picked you up. He lied down on the king sized bed, holding you to his chest. You fell asleep against him.

After you fell asleep tony made way down to the garage once again after tucking you in.

You were now at the expo, when Justin hammer started to present the hammer drones your jaw dropped in awe, you glanced at pepper who did not seen impressed. You turned back making the same face as her.

When your father randomly showed up, you probably cheered the loudest.

When pepper and Natasha went behind stage, you followed. When nat pinned hammer down, you clapped a few silent claps, bouncing slightly. And stook your tongue out at him.

When pepper walked out of the building you followed her once again.

After a few minutes a destroyed hammer drone started beeping, pepper took you into her arms, lifting you off of the concrete ground. You looked around uneasily that's when you spotted your father.

You barely had time to process this before he swooped down, grabbed the two of you and took off.

When you landed on the roof, you slid down peppers side as they started arguing.

"Oh my god, i cant take this anymore!" Pepper said as she covered her eyes "you cant? Look at me"

"My body literally cannot handle the stress, i never know if your gonna kill yourself or wreck the whole company"

"I think i did okay!" Tony yelled out "i quit, im resigning...thats it"

even you did not expect her to say that "what'd you just say, your done? Thats surprising. No its not surprising, i get it. You dont have to make any excuses"

"Im not making any excuses" they started to speak over each other, and you just sat there. "You deserve better." tony said taking her hand. "You've taken such good care of me"

"Im in a tough spot, but you got me through it, so...right..yeah lets talk clean up" then they began to say a bunch of words you didn't yet understand.

"Well for you its like dog years, its like the presidenc-" being cut of by tony pulling her in and kissing her.

You whipped around covering your eyes and muttered a small "blah!" When you turned around you saw Rhody sitting in tonys suit. He put his finger up to his mouth and mouthed "shhhhh"

"Weird....run that by me again" he said pulling her close once more

"I think it was weird.." Rhody spoke up. You standing next to him.

'You guys look like two seals fighting over a grape"

"You should get lost" tony said pointing a finger at him. "I was here first, get a roof" you chuckled at this clever remark.

"Listen, my car got taken out by the explosions, so...im gonna need to hang on to your suit for a minute okay"

"Not okay with that"

"Wasn't a question" Rhody said standing up, you immediately took a few steps back and he took of.

"How are you gonna resign, if i dont except" you giggled and brought them into a group hug. Kneeling down so they could get to you.

I’ve wanted to make this post for a while but wanted to wait until the dub was officially over so

My Final Thoughts on the TGCF Season 2 English Dub

Howard Wang as Xie Lian is fucking perfect. Every single time he spoke it just, I don’t know how to properly put it into words, except it is so well done?? But when XL started basically having a mental breakdown in front of Hua Cheng after Lang Qianqiu found out about the truth of the Gilded Banquet, holy fuck did the emotions just hit me in the feels. The scream and he emotional fatigue after? Xie Lian’s voice is perfection omg

Shoutout to James Cheek for just voicing the gayest character ever (Hua Cheng) and writing the gayest script for TGCF. While I liked his voice in the first season, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of it. It wasn’t until the second season where almost everything improved, and James’s voice for Hua Cheng? *chef’s kiss*. Okay but at least tone down the gayness a bit. And seeing someone who has read the novel and having little easter eggs for the novel readers for them to go insane over is incredible. I’m going to miss his voice in Season 3 since they’re going to have to cast someone else as Hong’er, but that’s ok.

Male and Female Shi Qingxuan: OMG??? Perfect casting. I just know they both put so much effort into them and I am eternally grateful. They just sound like the best of friends (they are). Every single line from them was so fucking iconic, which is accurate to the Wind Master’s character. I love both their voices so much you don’t understand.

Lang Qianqiu: AAHHHHH. My son, my boy, they gave him justice and I am so happy. First read through of TGCF, I only cared for HuaLian, but reading it again has made me appreciate and fall in love with the side characters, with Lang Qianqiu being one of them. I’ll say it did take a bit for me to adjust to it, but he sounds so much like an anime protagonist that I am ok with it. Another perfect casting. I’m going to be so fucking sad that he won’t appear for such a long time, and while he does get brought up occasionally, his last appearance is going to be the finale. I’ll miss you my son 😔

Jun Wu: ASDFGHJKL. He sounds like such a manipulative/toxic ex and a father figure at the same time. wtf. But his voice is so sexy tho. I don’t like it but I do. And I thought his original Chinese voice was hot, and then the English one goes and surprises me. I hate that I love it

Qi Rong: Perfection, glorious, fucking incredible. HIS VA IS PERFECT. Original was slaying so hard, and English? Fucking killing it. He was actually the one I was looking forward to the most, and he 👏 did 👏 not👏 disappoint. I won’t get over the perfect casting. Ever. The crazy and mad laughs? The insults I’ve never heard about but decided to keep in mind? Literally everything. I’m sorry I can’t get over how great his voice is

Feng Xin and Mu Qing (of course together): I am so biased towards Lucien Dodge, so I immediately loved his voice for him. He slaying that tsundere cat boy vibe so well. I will admit that his voice made me like his character more tbh. Ok but Feng Xin’s? Every time I hear it, I always need at least 30 seconds to get used to it. Idk why. I don’t hate it, and I actually love it, but he sounds so much like a dad it’s so funny. I still love him tho.

Pei Ming: 😳. No but that was actually my reaction to his voice. Why is every single god’s voice so hot. Please calm down. I really did not like Pei Ming at first but damn. I can actually understand why every single woman went weak with him.

Ling Wen: While she didn’t get as much dialogue this season, I’ll still count her. I’ve heard some drama relating to her voice actress from a while back but I’m not bringing it up rn. But her English voice is almost exactly the same as the original, just, different languages of course. She has such a unique voice and it’s quite pleasing to hear. She also sounds a bit like Siri but it fits her character

Other major characters that got only a few lines but still slayed their roles (Ming Yi, Pei Xiu, Jian Lan, Yin Yu): Hello?? Can I be patient to hear their voices again? Probably not, but please I need more of them. Ming Yi sounded hot since he took voice lessons from Hua Cheng, Pei Xiu sounded like such a little wet cat (wtf where did this crush on him come from), Jian Lan slayed because she is such an underrated queen, and Yin Yu? I WAS NOT EXPECTING A DEEP VOICE FROM WTF. I will say I do prefer his Chinese VA a little more due to it being more in character with him sounding soft and somewhat tired. But I enjoy his confident and announcing voice. They should keep him for the QuanYin flashbacks.

All in all, perfect cast. I don’t have twitter/X but I see things from the VA’s from time to time. And seeing them interact with the fandom and trying to give more to their characters makes me so happy. I just desperately need for more of the characters to have voices (aka Shi Wudu, Quan Yizhen, Mei Nianqing, Yushi Huang, Male!Ling Wen, White-No-Face). Give me more please.

After a full decade of complaining that live action characters can’t emote the way cartoon characters do, especially cuz they are looking at a green screen to begin with, not only did we get a bubbly Disney princess, she managed to do it while half of her screen-time involved NOT being able to speak at all!

Like did you see the way she looked when Eric told her it’s probably silly to collect things? That little shake of head, that sparkle on her face that “finally! Someone gets it” like she’s practically bursting to tell him about her own collection

And when she’s dancing having the time of her life because of how much footwork it involved

Whoever is writing the novel for this film better do it justice! Give me EXACTLY the thousand words the picture is worth!!!

one of MANY reasons why halle is the perfect ariel is how she is able to act and show so many thoughts and emotions with just her face and act with literally no one and nothing else in a scene and make it totally believable!

that moment in eric’s library where she shakes her head you can just see it in her eyes and with her smile how desperately she wants to tell eric how wonderful she thinks it is that he loves to collect things just like she does 😭😭😭😭 once she finally got her voice back you know she will tell eric how she loves collecting things too and they will continue to teach each other all about the worlds they came from 🥹

halle and jonah’s chemistry is extra special because it’s still so incredibly palpable during the moments where ariel doesn’t have her voice. ariel didn’t say a word to eric for most of the film yet you still see how they fall in love with each other and absolutely believe it and root for them. i also love how in the live action ariel had great communication skills despite not being able to speak. like how she was able to show eric what her name was 👏😭🥰

all in all i really liked this event !! i'm happy that whenever DeNA writes stories with Gladion at the forefront, they end up being more fleshed out instead of the typical "shallow friendship" stories they usually make, i suppose this says a lot about gladion's character as a whole 👏

random dump on some scenes in the event:

i love when he said get lost to colress LOL i know it's part of his character to be blunt but i didn't expect that to be his response 💀

so did lear not host a party at all and lusamine just asked to borrow his manor as part of her plan??? either way she's clearly rich enough to make such a demand 💀💀

i know a lot of us were shocked to see gladion pair up with magearna of all mons, but it honestly makes PERFECT sense 😭 it's an artificial pokemon who loves to be researched upon and gladion fears it will end up being alone because of this, THIS EXACTLY PARALLELS SILVALLY 😭😭😭 his sense of justice and moral compass is so strong like this fits his character perfectly he just doesn't want magearna to suffer a similar fate

cool to see that his "sygna suit" was really just a fancy outfit he had to wear for the event and was not modelled specifically after magearna, but i guess we can headcanon that lusamine tailored that suit for him as part of her plan lol

also i honestly loved to see that gladion is capable of being formal when he has to LOL i know a lot of people object the idea of him becoming aether president but i personally dig the idea, regardless what people think happened between him and lusamine i feel like taking a job where he gets to care for pokemon and research them ethically (in a way he thinks is right) is a perfect fit for his character

^ to add a bit to this, i also like when he can just act like a rich kid with manners when he needs to, but the second someone acts against his morals he just goes back to being stubborn and brash 😭 all this fits my headcanon that sometimes he helps out his mom with aether foundation work by travelling to different regions to care for pokemon/assist pokemon professors, etc + my headcanon of him being able to speak more "proper" when needed IS NO LONGER JUST A HEADCANON 🎉🎉🎉

i LOVE when he has nice interactions with his family, especially his mom 😭 definitely a hot take but i'm perfectly fine with lusamine repairing her bond with her kids, the SM USUM timeline stuff is a bit messy but in my opinion i prefer when after she recovers from the neurotoxins shenanigans she earnestly works to fix her relationship with her kids, because i personally believe that even in SM she was supposed to be redeemable--not because "she deserves it", but because her being redeemed could strengthen the story's message about navigating a tragic family and fall from grace, ofc this depends on your interpretation on these events in the first place but i always felt like a happier ending was better suited for the aether family (i made another post abt this a while back lol... might rewrite it again)

also gladion calls her mom while lillie is more formal and says mother right??

to sum it up i love this story because everything abt gladion is true to character + his motivations for wanting to care for magearna are perfect + i love the little things they added to his character esp for confirming my headcanon + more interactions with his family + not like DeNA's typical "friendship" stories + IT FINALLY GIVES GLADION THE SCREENTIME IT DESERVES EVEN IF THIS EVENT FEELS A BIT SHORTER THAN OTHERS 😭😭😭🎉🎉🎉💗💗💗

Voiceplay Visuals: Hellfire

As IF I was ever going to skip over this video!!!!

Voiceplay's cover of Hellfire was released on the 7th of October, 2023 (being their Halloween upload for the year), and, fun fact, it was the first Voiceplay video I watched after a sort of personal "hiatus" of 1-1.5 years, where they had somehow fallen off my radar for a while (which can happen when A, you weren't originally subscribed to them and mostly just relied on the Youtube algorithm/recommended section, and B, you previously only watched videos for songs you were already familiar with (I know better now though, obviously), plus a few other random factors). Geoff's cover of Jack's Lament was the first from his channel I had seen in quite a while (thank you YouTube algorithm for actually being helpful!), and I stumbled upon Hellfire the following day. And man what a video to bring me back into the fold!

Both video and arrangement were done Layne, and although this is another "guest feature" for J None (he did 5 full-length videos with Voiceplay in 2023!), he's only a backing vocalist for most of this one. Who took lead vocals? Geoff! Apparently Layne was wanting Voiceplay to do a cover of Hellfire for quite a while, and had always envisioned Geoff as the main singer for it, but Geoff, for a long time, said no. I don't know/can't remember what his exact reasoning was; whether he just thought the song was too dark or he thought he wouldn't be able to do it justice, but obviously Layne eventually managed to persuade him (made him an arrangement he couldn't refuse, I'm guessing, because seriously this arrangement is STUNNING), and quite frankly I am forever in Layne's debt for it!

I have no estimate of how long this post might be or how much I'll actually have to say about the screencaps I share, but I'll try to make this worthwhile, and so without further ado, let's get into this!

Pretty "basic"/"simple" visuals here, but honestly that's all that's needed for this one! For one thing, the vocals/arrangement are amazing enough to shine on their own (kinda like with Nothing Else Matters), and for another thing, this may be a Disney villain song, but at the same time it's not really a "Disney Song", y'know? This ain't Friends On The Other Side, or Poor Unfortunate Souls, or Be Prepared; this is a song about deep internal conflict, "burning desire", and attempts to suppress said burning desire, which only leads to more trouble. This is a villain song taken completely seriously, and boy oh boy do Voiceplay nail it!

(I feel like I should also mention that I've never actually watched The Hunchback Of Notre Dame, but I know the characters, I know the story, and this song speaks for itself tbh.)

I can't believe I'm having one of my "hang on a minute-" moments on freaking Hellfire of all videos, but somehow I never noticed the purple gemstone ring that Eli is wearing here before now! (And Cesar is wearing a red gemstone ring as well, which I only just spotted in a previous shot).

(And even though Voiceplay seem to wear black/dark colours a fair bit (and Geoff does a lot), I still really freaking love the costuming in this video. They all look so good!!!!!)

The way he looks down at his hands and arms as if feeling himself changing, as if there really are flames coursing right underneath the surface of the skin!!!!

Not here to make fun or tease this time, certainly not! Geoff did a fantastic acting job in this one, and his delivery of every single vocal line was just absolutely *chefs kiss*

Everyone else was brilliant in this too, and Cesar absolutely had some attention-grabbing moments of his own! 😄

The "it's not my fault!" section of the song is really cleverly done here imo. (it's technically visual as well! I can talk about it!) It gives other members a bit more of a chance to shine, in a song which (aside from the Latin chanting in the background) is only meant to be a one-man performance. And the video (arrangement included) does this by turning Layne, J, Eli, and Cesar into a sort of Greek Chorus, or more specifically, a "singing chorus" (yes, that's a real thing, which I learned about when I was double-checking to see if I actually remembered the correct meaning of Greek Chorus). Singing choruses are sometimes incorporated into musical theatre and grand opera, and are "used frequently to interpret the mental and emotional reactions of the principal characters, after the manner of a Greek chorus." And while Eli and Cesar are taking over the lead for this bit here, Geoff becomes a little bit more subdued, head slightly bowed, just doing some little self-conducting hand movements as he holds down the bassline (I'm assuming, though I can't really hear him at all in the background until his arpeggios(?) when J takes over (look, sometimes you really can't fully describe/talk about what's happening on screen without talking about the audio that goes with it!!!))

Cesar with the sick air guitar! (Not all reactors seemingly noticed this moment, which is a damn crime tbh (you can actually see him doing it in the group shot just a few seconds before this too, though that part I myself didn't pick up on till just now))

I can't remember seeing a single reaction video (out of the ones I've watched at least) that actually figured out who the Guard was, even though it's in the description of the video! (Though I guess those who were watching from Patreon have more of an excuse). It's Tony! (Also, this means that this video featured 4 "generations" of Voiceplay baritones - Layne, Tony, J, and Cesar!)

I've heard one or two reactors say they wish they could have seen the guard's face, but nah, I don't think it's necessary. He's there to provide Relevant Information for progression of the plot/song/scene, and that's it! His identity is irrelevant!

At first when I watched this video I was like "wow I really love this video, but should I like this video so much? Considering the context/meaning behind the song and all that?" That lasted for like maybe a week maximum. I adore this cover and this video and I make no apologies about it!)

Firstly, the absolute power and feeling that Geoff put into this, like it's absolutely amazing to watch and it delights me to no end. Secondly, I wasn't going to include that third pic above, but turns out Geoff is wearing a gemstone ring as well! (maybe more than one?) I knew he was wearing rings in the video, but I just assumed they were his wedding/engagement rings, as he pretty much always wears them in videos (unless he can't for costuming purposes), one on each hand, but now I wonder if he was in fact wearing them at all in this video?

As I type this, Voiceplay's cover of Hellfire is just 4,700 views away from reaching one million hits on YouTube! I hope it gets there, it certainly deserves it (and more!). (UPDATE: As of the morning of the 20th of February (AEST timezone), it's now at one million views! Can I hear a wahoo!?!) (SECOND UPDATE: and it's now at over 1.1 million, as of the 25th of March!)

It's not exactly a typical Halloween-type video for Voiceplay, no super-elaborate character costumes or coloured face/body paint, but just like practically everything Voiceplay did in 2023, this was EPIC!

But anyway, I'll be skipping over Whiskey In The Jar, and I'm not doing any posts about Christmas videos (for now), which means that I'm finally onto the first two full-length uploads of 2024! (And I really would have expected there to be a third 2024 upload by this point, but it seems we're just gonna have to keep on waiting.) Stay tuned!

Finished Mary and George i have THOUGHTS

- MARY FUCKING VILLIERS 👏👏👏 Julianne absolutely killed it give her all the awards

- Early episodes George i would take a bullet for you

- The plot twist with Somerset confessing love to George came outta nowhere i did NOT see it coming 😅

- I don’t even think it was genuine tbh. The guy almost cut off George’s hands in their first meeting and then he wanna say he loved him since he first saw him?? Most likely scenario is he knew he was fucked and that was his final desperate resort to win George over, either way George fucking him as one final act of pettiness was such a boss move

- Honorary mention to Mary’s new husband

- He actually tried to be supportive and had some great one liners, hope the guy lived a good life

- John Villiers you deserve the world 😭😭

- TONY CURRAN 🙌👏👏

- James throwing a tantrum and getting caught in the curtains took me tf out lmao

- Lady Hatton reading everyone for filth at the dining table had me on the floor QUEEN SHIT

- I felt bad for James tbh. I know he sucked as a father to Charles and was in no way a perfect guy but to be betrayed by the man he loved like that was cold as hell. The look of shock and betrayal in his eyes in that final scene is stuck in my head

Little Kanata analysis! Puka Pukaaa

HAHihOhUHI, i'm back at it again!!!

Just kidding, I read like, the first half of the Meteor Impact and am mentally on the edge of insane.

But...ignore it for now...

I wanna talk about our little god Kanata today!!!

Is our boy Kanata silly? Yes!

Is he also smart as hell? Yes!

Is he strong? YES 👏 HE 👏 IS 👏

I think a-lot of people misunderstood Kanata characteristics.

He's not just a happy, friendly-looking, puka puka water god! He's more than that!

I know you're all thinking that, because he has been seen as a god for all his childhood and still slowly making progress about learning the world around him, that means he must be just one kind and cute little fish right?

Haha...

Clearly, that was never the case...

He's smart from the very beginning, and the things he doesn't know or can't understand don't mean he's completely stupid at it.

Kanata can sense things, and sense people's emotions, he's not a god who brought wishes to his people in all though years for nothing!

When Kanata meets Chiaki for the first time, he can sense something wrong with him.

And the next time they meet, Kanata also able to sense it very well!

Chiaki in the old time, once wish Kuro ( who was being beat up badly most of the time when they got a chance to face each other ) to be better. He wish all the one that bullied Kuro to be "serve by justice".

It didn't take Kanata long to find out about it. Heck! He doesn't even need a word from Chiaki to understand Chiaki's wishes.

Did I mention that Kanata at that time was really bad at communicating? He did not know much and only when you speak slowly and use easy words will he be able to talk back.

And yet! He was able to detect Chiaki wishes and did it in under one day!

Chiaki was dumbfounded when Kuro tell him that all the one that hate him is now being beat up so badly, they get scared and apologizes Kuro. ( boy did predict that on time... )

Also, Kanata is really smart, he didn't understand much but that didn't mean he couldn't do a thing with the knowledge he already had in hand.

There were many time when Kanata use the word "God" to describe other things.

And just like Kanata, we'll do the same!

People's brains tend to use the old things, the stuff they already knew to help make up meaning for new things.

With that being said, Kanata is not used to the outside world, so it is normal for him to keep using the word "God" as a base/standard of view.

Later on, his view of mind is a little more open, going as far as taking advantage of his position as a "God" to help Chiaki track down Rinne and Niki.

Rinne is also a smart-ass, but he himself has to admit that Kanata would use a move that he never be able to predicted.

Also, Kanata is really strong:

If you already read the main story, then you'll have to remember the part when Kanata carried both Rinne and Niki in his arms, getting from some ramen shop a far whatsoever place to the DreamFes! WITH JUST HIS TWO ARMS!

Chiaki was with Kanata, yes, but he's busy with driving them from the shop to DreamFes.

In both "Intersecting MotorShow" and "Leap into the Future"

We can see how Kanata was successful capture our Hero Chiaki and corner him right away.

Kanata knew Chiaki well, and by that, he was helping the RYUSEITAI to grow.

Kanata wasn't just a little fish god, he was Chiaki biggest emotional support and the helping hand of RYUSEITAI.

If not for him, Chiaki wouldn't have a chance to dance with RYUSEITAI in the "Intersecting MotorShow"

If not for him, we didn't be able to have the 5* Chiaki card in the "Leap into the Future" event

Because when Chiaki decided to leave Tetora and hoped that Tetora would be able to grow as how he did.

Kanata said that this is not that of a "dark era" anymore, the kids need you.

So Chiaki got on with that advice, joining Tetora and the others to play game, helping Tetora to get some time to relax.

Ah...I think that all is for today.

I'm tired, but I hope that this analysis will help you to understand Kanata more.

I love Kanata a lot, and so does the love for Chiaki, and RYUSEITAI !

So like, can we address this?

so like, as a Pokémon lover, I’ve been getting the games since I was waaaaay little. My first game ever was sapphire, and I can personally rank moon as one of my top 5 games of all time. Pokémon’s story has always been a bit of a hit or miss with me *cough x and y cough sword and shield* but I was COMPLETELY unprepared for scarlet and violet. (For those wondering I got scarlet but I do not judge y’all violet stans)

like, that game took me so off guard. I was hyped (duh) but sword kinda left a little bit of a bitter taste in my mouth story-wise. Like, all the pieces were there, you……just……forgot half of them and tried to pass it off as complete.

but scarlet? HOO BOYO SCARLET. Not only did they deliver one of, if not the greatest plots ever, I have never been more closer to any Pokemon characters.

Nemona? Easily one of the best and most well written rivals out there. She isn’t a stereotypical “I hate you and hope you suffer and will beat your sorry behind into the ground 😡”, type rival, but instead she’s just an ordinary girl who’s incredibly skilled at battling, but no longer can properly battle bc no one wants too. She purposely picks the weaker starter so you can get stronger quicker and be able to battle her! Her final fight had me grinning all the way through it, and her genuine, pure and utter JOY at you winning is such a sweet and endearing trait.

penny? Gosh darn did they do the introvert community justice. She is not only a great “serious and sarcastic” character, but the entire team star story was so so so wholesome. Her story about being bullied but also connecting with her friends and forming team star and also being the one to take it down once she realizes her mistake is incredible, and the way she defended team star until the end is just one of the millions of things I like about her! (AlsoherfinalbattlemusicSLAPS-)

I-I cannot even BEGIN to stress how incredible arven is. Pokémon dealing with abusive parents is nothing new, but yet it feels so RAW where he is involved. Like, dude, this guy was raised by a DOG. A FREAKING DOG WAS A BETTER PARENT THAN HIS OWN BIOLOGICAL PARENTS. His whole setup to be the snarky, silver-esque type rival was executed perfectly, and I promise you every person who’s ever played proceeded to do all of the titans the MOMENT mabosstiff came into the picture. (And I promise those same people cried when he finally stood up). And not only that, but from what the game implies, (or at least what I took from it) his parents didn’t actually care, and in all the limited contact he had with the sada/turo AI, they began to care for him as if they were his real parent. Meaning that an AI and a dog cared more for him than his mom and dad. Not even that, but he has to go through the trauma of learning his parents were freaking DEAD, he had a creature wearing his moms/dads face say IN THEIR VOICE,

“I love you.”

only to then immediately lose them too.

everyone just give a round of applause to this boi for being such a trooper and being so loveable despite everything.

but like, that’s barely anything. All the other characters were epic, the soundtrack was phenomenal, the plot twists expertly executed, like fr, this has been the best Pokémon game story-wise in AGES.

so Nintendo, from the bottom of my heart, keep doing what ur doing but I’m begging u, take ur time. We can wait.
