Thormundar - Exiled Pyromancer

"Pyromancy was an uncommon magic in the land of Thormundar and its practitioners were treated in a myriad of ways, but for the nation of Kormun, they posed a practical problem: how do a people of the forest deal with the danger of someone able to destroy their home with an uncontrolled outburst?

To that end, it was decreed in ancient times that pyromancers born in Kormun, no matter their race, would be exiled. Those that lived in the Utangard Forest in secret would be routinely hunted down and thrown out by Kormun's army, the Wild Hunt; and for the rare cases of those who lost control of their powers over fire, the Wild Hunt would deliver the mercy of a swift death."

“Rowan, Harmonious Splicer”

Some fanart to commemorate the release of Phyrexia: All Will Be One; with a compleated version of my OC, Rowan Marza.  I’ve been a sucker for New Phyrexia ever since it debuted (in fact, the Artful Destruction Intro Pack was for the longest time something on my “cool things to get” list), and I was super pumped to hear the announcement of Phyrexia: All Will Be One.  As a perennial Green/White player, I based Compleated Rowan’s design on both the Machine Orthodoxy and the Vicious Swarm (Porcelain and flesh, mixed with copper and patina), and as a nod to the Artful Destruction Intro Pack, added golems to further flesh out the piece (and allude to Rowan’s initial powers; instead of summoning and controlling spirits, have a few physical slaved golems instead). The backdrop is a simple set of sinew-linked towers in the vein of the new environments from Phyrexia: All Will Be One (I’ll stop saying it already, I swear), with the White and Green Suns providing a little extra illumination. (Also before anyone asks, this is OC non-canon; I’m not going down the one-way road of Phyrexian dismemberment and reconstruction with one of my favourite OCs.)

Thormundar - Annikka, Protector of the Defenceless

As the trio rounded the streets of the town, the citizens they were contracted to protect running in front of them, Annikka's ears picked up the whoops and footfalls of the bandits chasing them.

Sliding to a stop, Annikka yelled, "Heather, Rowan! Get the people to the others; I'll handle this!" Turning to face the enemy, two in particular ran to meet her; a human with a long sword and a Dokkr with an axe. They held their weapons high, ready to add another corpse to the pile.

A sickening crunch. Annikka's shield met the Dokkr and crushed his chest. Another crunch, as her sword met the guts of the human. Both peeled off to the sides of Annikka and crumpled to the ground.

At the sounds of bodies hitting the cobblestone, Heather and Rowan turned around; Heather's arms outstretched to protect the citizens, and Rowan holding his axe at the ready. They saw Annikka standing, two slumped bodies on her left and right. Annikka's weapons were raised, dripping with blood. Ahead of her were the other bandits. They weren't smiling anymore.

"Square up!" Annikka yelled, "Who else wants to die today?"

Some worldbuilding character designs for one of the factions of Thormundar, the futurist Hidden Sea. Figured that they’d have subdivisions based on different disciplines and that any of the races of Thormundar could join if they have the right aptitude.

Pictured here is a Hadriga (donkeyfolk) member of the Botanics division, as well as a Shuren (ratfolk) member of the Combat Sciences division.

Been about 28 years or so of trying to figure out what I am; doubtless there's still a long journey to go.

I'm sure of one thing now, at least; that I'm asexual. It's the label that I feel best describes my sexuality.

To commemorate this, a pic of Annikka in the Ace colours. I thought this up from a recent Discord name change on a friend's server, which was then catalyzed by a workout on Sunday.

Thormundar - Ser Winnifred of Rose Hearth

A steadfast Koira who styled herself a knight, she was charged as the protector of a fairytale land by a mysterious entity. Due to the shortsighted actions of a desperate visitor, however, that realm has been destroyed utterly, Ser Winnifred the only survivor of that land. Now an unmoored soul, she now walks the Utangard Forest with the blessing of the Four Fauns, rescuing innocents who have been lost in its winding woods.

A new personal piece featuring a character that I designed several years ago, I was motivated to paint a piece with her once the new Magic expansion, Wilds of Eldraine, was debuted earlier in the month!

Thormundar - Mental Currents

“The mind is like a river; throw an intrusive thought into it and watch the surface break apart into ripples.”My first personal piece of 2023, featuring my rabbit mind mage, Emil! This Lunar New Year happens to be the Year of the Water Rabbit, and coupled with my recent binging of the Villagers of Ioannina City’s album, “Age of Aquarius”, got me to paint this piece. The background was in part inspired by my recent music, along with wavy shapes reminiscent of a human brain, coupled with water streams forming circles.
