[Fun Facts About Me]

I don’t like making grammatical errors, they are irritating and embarrassing (in my opinion). However, mistakes are part of life and I have to learn to how to move on. That said; if you do see some grammar mistakes please let me no and I’ll try to fix it. (Ugh, it’s embarrassing that I was born, and live in, Mississippi yet I make numerous grammatical errors. I’m so bad, most of the time, at English, it’s hilarious.)

I have a tendency to ramble, over explain and procrastinate. I can also appear quite pushy, this is probably because of some deep seated worry that I haven’t yet uncovered.

I love mysteries, they are my favorite genre and I especially love the femme fatale mysteries or mysteries with a female lead.(IE; Miss. Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Murder She Wrote and there’s more but my mind is blank right now.)

I have a soft spot for cute fuzzy cats and I like taking photos of scenery that I believe to be beautiful.

Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite books, it was a childhood favorite and it still is to this day. (The animate movie and the book are my preferred versions of Alice In Wonderland.)

So I recently rewatched Alice in Wonderlan 1933 not that long ago

Now to get the obvious out of the way ,while I appreciate the hard work that went into bringing the characters to life.......THEY LOOK TERRIFYING

Like not all the characters look scary but....

Alot of them do

I chalk it up to limitations and a bit of too much faithfulness to the illustrations

I do love two things in this movie

1.The Wlarus and Carpenter scene is brought to life as a looney tune and it is very well done

2.The Mock Turtle maybe my7 favorite performance ever given by Cary Grant .

i was really into alice in wonderland as a kid, saw the tim burton movies at the cinema, got a beautifully illustrated alice in wonderlans book, even had the alice horror game where shes insane

#I know i was being casual about the gravesight yesterday #But i truly havent stopped thinking about it #Gtting lost in a mausoleum and other little courtyards #And finally finding walts in this tiny isolated quiet corner #Peaceful and sunny but with just the perfect amount of shade #It felt so exactly like a movie perfect spring morning #You open a knee high gate and step in to this square patch of grass #And all around are flowers #And two trees on either side of th family names #With some kind of crawling ivy on the wall growing around the names like a heart #There was a sense of belonging and calm tranquilty #And safety its just this small space outside the rest of the world #And the flowers naturally put me in mind of alice in wonderlan and her songs #Which was fitting of course because i will always feel connected to alice #Its been long enough that thinking about that connection is only a dim ache #Its no longer heart wrenching and like grind my whole self into the dirt i never want to work on something i love ever again #But the good memories arent tainted #and i dont mind being alice kneeling amongst the flowers aon the grass in the patch of shade #And wondering what it would have been like to be born in an era when my heroes were alive #But average women like me werent given any opportunity at all #journal shit

So excited for the last teaser to come out- because it all builds on to the deeper themes, and the plot twist.

The first 3 teasers are about people/places Will created and brought to life with his powers- which reflect his past with lonnie.

001)

fake russia: (literally almost all the russians are named after comic book characters). We'll probably see Hopper and Vietnam flashbacks (his dad, the war , etc).Hopper describes Will's ptsd to that of Vietnam soldiers. That same season Steve wrote a war story about his grandfather as a "metaphor for his (own) life'. Steve also compares the monsters in control of Will- to the enemy side his grandfather fought against. Hopper's backstory of War /current imprisonment-will be a metaphor of Will's life. AND The demogorgan ("deep father") will be let loose in the russian prison as Hopper tries to escape. And it'll prob be a homage to john carpenter's "the thing". The 001 teaser using the bond title of the film "from russia, with love" is a hint that the demogorgan is there + its probably a simulated russia . Bond =007, Will: " it was a 7 the demogorgan it got me" . Not to mention 007 is like the numbering of the super-powered experiments.David (Hopper) after this teaser, posted a spoon and his reflection of himself- upsidedown. It's also a reference to the matrix (which was on the list of movies said to inspire s4 of ST ). The matrix has a simulated world neo is living in- and Neo looking at the spoon is a symbol of that. Aka russia/Hopper. Neo( Hopper) about the matrix: "you ever have that feeling when you're not sure... you're DREAMING?" Will about the mf/ Hopper being attacked by supernatural vines calls it "now memories " and " like a DREAM"

the rainbow room with "papa' . David even quoted dorothy from the wizard of oz: with screen shots of the rainbow room teaser . Dorothy creates a fantasy world, based on her own good and bad experiences in her life. The RAINBOW led to the mystical world of Oz (which Dorothy subconsciously created). And the lab in s1, was called "emerald city" (part of Oz). Along with other refs to this film,littered throughout s1-3.We even have an inception totem in the rainbow room teaser, as a huge hint of foreshadowing- that the rainbow room is a construction of someone's mind/ like the DREAM-world in inception (which was also on the s4 inspo list, along with many similarly themed films).The totem is even next to the chessboard from blade-runner- which the lab subjects use.The sentient (feeling) robots played with this chessboard. A hint that the lab subjects similar to the robots weren't naturally born and have implanted memories: but still have feelings, emotions, sentient thoughts and desires,etc. Rainbow room= Will's creation of the rainbow ship. The song(referencing) a rainbow , from wizard of oz film, that David quotes : " somewhere over the rainbow... DREAMS that you DREAM really do come true".

Similar to how in s3 suzie and Dustin sing the song from Neverending story ... "DREAM a DREAM, and what you dream will be. MAKE BELIEVE I'M EVERYWHERE . Given in the light."

(cough Will being attacked by demogorgan/father in lonnie's shed-as a light bulb shines brightly) ". Note the song is from the film "Neverending story" about a kid with a bowl cut subconsciously creating a world overrun by darkness/shadows (which represented the loss of hope).

Suzie even name drops the book "wizard of earthsea " before this. About a boy wizard, with a bowl cut, who subconsciously releases a shadow creature (mindflayer) from his subconscious.

opens with the song" Dream a little dream of me " . The trailer compares the creels to the Byers in a myriad of ways.And we have a k*ller " demonic/possessed " father- parallel the demogrogan and Lonnie.And one character named alice sees a dead rabbit (an alice and wonderland ref/Lonnie rabbit hunting story ref). In the book, Alice followed the rabbit, and falls into the rabbit hole (into "wonderland"). Alice (in s4) discovering the dead rabbit is symbolical of the creel's falling into the dark-wonderland symbolically. EL was also associated with Alice in wonderland in the past specifically the white-ranbbit/ Hopper has been associated with rabbits too. Even the matrix (relating to Hopper) references alice and wonderland . Matrix mentions the white rabbit &cat - as a "Alice in wonderland" ref and also name drops the title of the book within the matrix film. Huge hints these characters are construct of someone's mind... like how Alice subconsciously created a fantasy world and its inhabitants- the "wonderland " is also called Alice's "DREAM".

All the prior fathers (from 001-003) have been compared to Lonnie one way or another. Because brenner, the demogorgan, posessed creel,even Hopper, are sentient characters, losely inspired by Lonnie . And all those s4 plots are loose metaphors of the Byers' lives and pasts. We may see Lonnie's -Will's dad- return in the 004 teaser (for Will's bday). And not only the past of the byers, but the present,may parallel/intersect/influence what happens with these other 3 plot lines.

Yall I'm so excited for s4 ... I can not! And obviously I didn't state all the evidence... cause... well ,we'd be here all day . I just wanted to specifically discuss the teasers' XD

Like its all coming together. Hopefully people start believing my theory about this, that I've had for years . I don't think its did anymore: but still similar in the concept that Will created certain places/people based on his memories/tra*ma. Although its still possibly related to a system (I'm torn a bit). Its also possible they just were loosely inspired by DID .And or various fantasy stories with similar concepts- that coincidentally happen to resemble innerworlds . I'm still contemplating which route will be taken. XD

You have ideas for mega sized super chubs or giant growth?

Good question... it i not something I thought about often. I can't give you one precise idea, but I have several fragment of things going on around my mind.

1) There is an episode of Rocko's Modern Life where Rocko gets to have a wish by a fairy, and his wish is to become "big". Not only does the fairy augments his height so that he becomes a giant, but the spell also affects his girth as he becomes much larger. It is always nice to play on the idea of "big", as in how the word can be misinterpreted. It is something I know quite well because the word "big" in English is extremely hard to translate in French - "big" can mean "grand" (tall), "vaste" (large/vast), "gros" (large/fat)... so when something is "big" you have a hard time knowing if it in terms of tallness, largeness, or both.

2) There is episode of the Simpson's Treehouse of Horror where Homer is fused with the Blob (from the same movie) and becomes a blob-humanoid, that gets fatter and taller the more he consumes. The idea of someone expanding both ways as they consume something can be used.

3) I don't think it has been used yet, but if we go for fairytales, remember the magic beans from Jack and the Beanstalk? Usually the beans are not to be swallowed - people like to play with it in horrible ways. But if the person maybe digest and assimilates the beans in their organism, maybe they will be the ones growing until they become a giant reaching the sky.

4) Oh I forgot about this one! Alice in Wonderland - the drinks and cakes of Wonderlan can make you grow or shrink in size (alongside other strange things, like elongating your neck). It can be used for such scenarios - one notable example I can recall is a Black Butler OAV that was a Wonderland double-episode, and the main character (Ciel) at one point eats a food that makes him grow into a giant, but in the process he inflates and ends up looking for a moment like a parade float, before returning to a "normal" anatomy as a giant.

5) The final note is not an example per se but more of a general talk. In folklore and legends and literature, giants were for a very long time seen as the embodiment of excess, in all the senses of the term. Giants have an incredible height, giants need ten or twenty more times clothes and food as regular humans, they live in titanesque castles... As a result, giants were also often perceived as big eaters and gluttons, and represented as fleshy, bellied creatures. In the negative example, you have the ogres-like giants, the man-eating giants or castle-stealing giants, seen as devouring forces (and thus often represented as fat) ; on the more positive side you have the Rabelais giants. This is a strong part of the French culture - François Rabelais, one of our greatest Medieval authors, wrote several comedy books about a family of giants (Pantagruel and Gargantua being the most notorious). They were a depiction of the humanists (who sought to know and master all and every arts and sciences, a truly "gigantic" task), but also represented the "good life" so to speak, being big eaters, big drinkers, very wealthy - Gustave Doré made several gravures depicting them as chubby or fat giants, since again they embodied the excess, both of flesh (due to their enormous needs) and of mind (the commentary on humanists).

POSTER DESIGN INSPIRED BY- Josef Müller-Brockmann:

This week my next task was to design 3 movie posters inspired from my research on Josef Muller-Brockmann. The movies that I decided to design for were; Alice in Wonderlan, Greese, Snow White and Narnia. Brockmann’s style is very minimalistic and sophisticated and he uses a lot of geometric shapes. This is why I decided to keep the posters quite simple and try to send the message of what the movie is by using minimalistic work. 

Snow White-  For the first poster design I decided to create a poster for Snow White. I decided that I wanted only one element on the poster to keep it simple but easy to understand. I decided to go with a red bitten apple as it is an important element all throughout the movie and I think it represents the movie very well and is easy to connect to the movie. I decided to put the title inside the apple and use flat colours without any tone taking inspiration for Brockmann’s work as he does not use any tone just flat colours. I think that the poster worked out very well there is a clear connection to the movie and it is simple. 

Narnia- For the next poster I decided to design ‘Narnia’ poster as it is one of my childhood favourite movies. I decided to make the main element of the poster the iconic wardrobe which is a very clear connection to the movie, as it is an important element all throughout the movie. For the design I decided to show the doors of the wardrobe simply opening showing a path formed from light to enter the wardrobe. I think this was the approparate way to show the connection to the movie. I decided to keep it simple an onlu use gray and white flat colours. I also placed the title in the middle at the bottom of the poster overlapping the light path which I think works very well. I’m very happy with this design.

Grease- The third poster I decided to do on ‘Grease’ as it is one of the most iconic musicals and one of my favourites. For this design I decided to keep it simple and design a hair comb which I think that reminds everyone of the movie as it is one of the main elements in the movie. This has let me to keep the moster very minimalistic but make a point. I only used black and white colours which created contrast and made the comb stand out even more as it was the only element on the poster. I think that this woposter works very well, it shows connection to my inspiration which was the work of Josef Brockmann and it also shows the movie well.

Alice in Wonderland- I knew I wanted to create a poster for the movie ‘Alice in Wonderland’ from the start as it is one of my favourite movies but I couldnt decide which element of the movie to keep as the main one as there is so many that connect well with the movie. First I decided Im going to use the iconic ‘Cheshire cat’ smile but I made the design very simple with a fusia backgrounf with a white smile designed using circles. I think that this design works well and connects with the movie very well but I also wanted to try another element for this movie.  

For the last poster I decided to go with a clock made out of cards as both , time and the cards are very well connected with the movie. I thought it would be a cool design to combine them both in a simple manner to keep it clean. I think that I achieved a good result by keeping the colours just red and black with a plain white background. I think that this design works well and represents the movie in a very simple and sophisticated manner.
