What do you think is each character's favorite subject in school?

tohru: not a surprise but baby girl loves home ec!! kind of has to work her butt off studying for her other classes, so she gets to enjoy herself and do something she’s naturally super good at in home ec. loves making little snacks in class for her friends and then sharing them at lunch. the sewing unit takes her fashion game to the next level. when they do a project where they take care of fake babies, she definitely ends up caring for half of the class’s infants like they’re her own. kyo is her partner and everyone teases them about it but she still has a really nice time and thinks kyo would be a great dad :’)) highest home ec grade of all time in their school

kyo: says his favorite is PE but it’s actually math. gets a 5 on the AP calc exam. tells no one but tohru, who then tells everyone and kazuma throws a party and kyo is Not Pleased. isn’t a great math tutor though because he can’t really explain how he gets his answers—he just Knows. checks tohru’s homework for her before she turns it in (read: fixes all her wrong answers when she’s not looking so he can see her huge smile when she gets a good grade back. only feels a little bit guilty). watches math tedtalks. nerd disguised as a jock

yuki: favorite subject is lit!! bullshits his way through class discussions and papers without ever actually reading the books because he’s smart and charismatic. has a premium account on sparknotes. favorite class specifically was one on ancient greek literature and epic poetry—spent the entirety of the class critiquing heteronormative readings of the iliad and taking the piss out of other students because “achilles and patroclus are clearly gay if you have eyes”

kakeru: …...i’ll be real he doesn’t like school lmao. senioritis personified. on his phone during classes constantly. laptop open playing world of warcraft or candy crush or neopets. could not tell you anything the teacher said in the last hour. doesn’t take notes because “i’ve got it all up here yun-yun…..” but doesn’t actually do half-bad on tests. only reason he does homework is because he can pretend to study with yuki while actually just flirting with him. if there’s one subject he doesn’t hate it’s history because he “thinks the fight scenes are fun” (yuki: “you mean world war 1??” “yeah it was exciting”)

uo: autoshop. hates the stereotype that just because she’s a lesbian she must like tools and machinery and automotive tech.....having said that she is a lesbian and she does like tools and machinery and automotive tech. gets a 100 on her project where she fixes a busted up motorcycle, and now she has two motorcycles. all the boys in the class call her senpai and worship the ground she walks on. smells faintly like motor oil all the time but she Absolutely makes it work

hana: creative writing. school is not her thing but she thrives in creative writing because her creativity is 100/10 and her stories are absolutely off the walls. excels in writing spooky yet also homoerotic ghost stories in particular. reads them aloud in class with the lights turned off and a flashlight illuminating her face. has made students cry out of fear. shigure beta-reads her writing. likes to subtly imply that her stories actually happened to fuck with kyo. it works

momiji: band/orchestra!! all the older students lose their minds over how well he can play. first chair violinist from day one. has a solo in every concert; tohru sits front row and films them, always cries. he’s the life of the party at Band Camp(™). even the grumpy bass clarinetists like him. doesn’t get in trouble when he talks waaaaay too much during rehearsal because the teacher loves him

haru: mr space cadet himself isn’t much of a science guy but LOVES astronomy. gets Ds on pretty much every test but he doesn’t care because his mind is expanding. buys a super nice telescope so he can look at constellations at 3 in the morning. develops very specific opinions about each planet. stans the moon. gets really into sleeping at last’s astronomy-themed album. becomes that guy whose personality is “i like space” until the class is over and then he never talks about it again

rin: art! she takes several art classes throughout high school. really loves drawing and painting, but also really likes doing ceramics projects because she likes working with her hands :’)) does a watercolor portrait for tohru as a graduation gift but gets really flustered when tohru sobs into her arms over how beautiful it is. also secretly likes doing little doodles of her and haru—he sees them once in her sketchbook and will never let her live it down

kagura: says her favorite is PE and it actually is PE. goes ham for capture the flag, tends to play too rough when capturing and gets taken out of the game. only person who is actually good at volleyball so she is constantly spiking, setting, and diving for the ball all in the same game, while the rest of her team just kind of fumbles around and tries to stay out of her way. gets first place every time they run the mile even though it’s definitely not a competition. definitely knows her mile time even though it is not a timed activity

hiro: this kid screams history nerd, but like Male History Nerd with a niche interest in military history and very specific opinions about how *insert historical figure* wasn’t actually all that bad. gets his ass handed to him in class discussions on the daily but won’t admit it. is genuinely really smart and has Better Opinions by the time he graduates, so he starts using his history nerd powers For Good as an adult—as in, arguing about inaccurate historical memes on facebook in his free time

kisa: choir. singing stresses her out, but she’s figured out that she can just mouth the words and no one can tell that she’s not actually singing! loves being in the group and hearing the beautiful music around her :’)) everyone is in awe of how cute she is in her lil choir robe. tohru comes to all of kisa’s concerts as well and films them from the front row, also while crying

machi: woodshop. gets sawdust on her clothes and loves the smell. obsessed with digging through piles of splintering and warped scrap wood. loses her damn mind when she gets to use the jigsaw. really enjoys making like…misshapen birdhouses and crooked tables, but woodshop is mostly participation grades anyway so her teacher gives her A’s on all of her grotesque wood creations. she is at peace and is One with the Wood. doesn’t wear safety goggles while chopping wood because she likes Risk

kimi: loves speech & drama. emphasis on the drama. it’s a chance to talk for a long time and everyone has to look at her and listen to her or else they’ll fail!! which is how she likes it. goes three minutes over for every speech but the teacher can’t get her to pause long enough to stop her. comes to auditions in a full professionally-made costume. knows her lines and everyone else’s

nao: AP statistics on the pre-accounting track. has known he wants to be an accountant since he was in diapers. does slightly below average in the class. still studies accounting in college because it’s too big a part of his personality to quit at this point. becomes an accountant. never quite feels fulfilled

FRUITS BASKET S2 EPISODE 11 RECAP!

A few days late this week! But I’m back! This was surprisingly a juicy one!

- Andddd in typical fashion, Aya came to drink all the beer, eat all the food and be overbearingly comforting to Yuki. We stan. Also, I really liked his purple robe/kimono. Outfit Appreciation goes to him otherwise I’d give to Rin for just being her. 3.5 stars.

- ‘In one form or another, my grandfather was able to be “outside’’’. Ok... I wasn’t expecting Kazuma to gut me like that this episode 😢

I’m mostly posting all this in appreciation for how this anime really uses the most of its scenery and background to tell the story just as much as the words and conversations and flow of the story do. The imagery of the bird setting off as Tohru said that mostly just reminded me of Kureno and his situation in comparison to Kyo. And how their situations are somewhat reverses of each other. Kyo being ‘outside’ and ‘free’ living on borrowed time until he is locked away forever due to his ties with Akito that he can’t control. And Kureno currently being locked away and yet... he’s.... hmmm... I’ll shut up for spoilers sake. But, those who get it, get it.

- Is it just me or does Kazuma’s haircut look a bit better in this ep? Not that it was terrible before!

I doooo love it when stories compare gods to children, it’s always been a fun and interesting way of seeing their wrath.

I love this frame showing the way the zodiac members are tied to Akito and how cold and restrictive it feels especially when you compare it to the final frame of the opening and how warm and loving that feels...

Makes it even sadder too...

I’m telling you... there’s always something about Kazuma that’s just always radiantly beautiful but in this episode? It’s just a bountiful explosion 🥰Kazuma gets Best Boi this episode even if he is a man!

- Ah, it’s always a great episode whenever Rin’s in it. A KWEEEEN.

- That little skip Tohru had as she rushed over to Kyo... I.... 😩✨

AHAHA! Mannn, Kyo can’t ever catch a break. I LOVVVEEEE the fact that he didn’t want Tohru to know that he was going on a date! Cos he’s already committed his undying love for her... 😽

Again. I’m so glad we’re getting this side of Yuki a lot more now. Always. a total. mood. <3

Oh wow, Kyo actually decided to make an effort and put away the Adidas wear for a while! And I love that the artists (mostly throughout this beach arc) are making subtle hints that Kyo has grown older and taller since the start of the anime. I woulda given him outfit appreciation butttt... I’m weak to the gothic and fabulous so-

I really like how they showed how adult Kyo was being in his actions too especially when it came to him just finally making his feelings for Kagura completely honest and serious. Our boy is growing up! 😭✨

Oh! 🥺

THE CUTEST! I’m glad we got the full flashback. I think a lot of the time, I (and a lot of the fandom) tend to forget that even though the Kagura/Kyo relationship is selfish on Kagura’s side, Kagura was there when Kyo needed a friend and another person about his age to interact with and it genuinely made him happy and feel wanted. And this episode was a great reminder of that, throughout.

It made me think of the old question Yuki had back in Season 1 about ‘whether you are a good person if you are doing good deeds for selfish reasons’. And we’ve seen the examples of this shown throughout the series especially with Yuki and Aya, but with Kagura... I personally feel like it’s the most explicit and almost cruel example of the action.

arrrgghhhh... But it made Kyo so happy! At a really dire and secluded time of his life...

Also, the cat curse and Kagura’s reaction to the curse complicates the attachment to Yuki’s thought as for some reason this curse causes all the zodiac members to turn away from Kyo’s true form. So, you could argue that Kagura’s reaction to Kyo’s true form was natural and she was just trying to make up for it all this time in actually a very similar way that Aya is trying to make it up to Yuki...

It’s not right... but it’s okay? 😅

- Goddamn, how big is the Sohma estate, man? Will we ever know? Lol

(That last pic gives me heavy Studio Ghibli, refreshing feels - I love it!)

This whole scene was great. Again, the studio used background to tell the story too with the bully picking on the younger boy and then the boy and the girl later playing happily. Perfect. But also, I found myself having a new found respect for Kagura that I wasn’t as aware of. The fact that Kagura came to this realisation by herself (tbh the only person who could convince her would be herself) and her taking responsibility. But also, her realising that she was genuinely beginning to love Kyo was surprisingly reminiscent of the way Kazuma began to love Kyo. Only thing is, that her love for Kyo is romantic and she can’t ever have him the way she wants.

I found myself actually empathetic to her! It was nice...

This was a good one this week! I say that all the time but I get a real satisfied feeling after I write these and I’ve swirled around my thoughts about the episode, haha. I also hope my new understanding of Kagura will translate to later when we get more of an understanding of the inner-side of Akito cos I still wanna know what the deal is with them.

Currently reading: Various Daredevil fanfiction. 👀👀 I fall down this hole sometimes.

Currently watching: I watched a couple episodes of The Blacklist a few days ago, and I plan to watch more soon! It seems good so far, and the writers manage to raise a lot of questions in the first two episodes, which is key to hooking viewers. I’ll have to see what they do in episode three...

Currently consuming: I just had Cheerios with honey. It may be midnight, but the illusion of time does not stop me from eating cereal at all times of day. Also water, because I stan water above all else.

Fruits basket: honestly my experience in this fandom has been... wondeful so far. I'm genuinely surprised by how nice the majority of you all are, and how everything is properly tagged and how when sometimes when I enter the tag yes there are a couple of posts debating certain points from different perspectives but always in a polite fashion! Yeah there are ocassionally bothersome anons but most of the time it's really... nice to be here. So one of my whishes is for that healthy atmosphere to continue. As for especific content mmm maybe for metas about the curse lmao yeah I could write but the more the merrier 😂. Also... it would be nice :) if some people would stop making Yuki and Tohru's relationship :) about kyoru :)

Snk: 1) could you all tag your shit properly. Like a post is an edit about Armin and it's tagged as rivamika or erehisu CHILL PLS. 2) For people to stop bothering others for liking a fictional character and accusing said fans of being idk horrible human beings for being invested in certain characters regardless of what they do in the story. (With that same logic all SW fans are garbage human beings for stanning Darth Vader lmao). 3) For ship wars to fucking stop god you're all so annoying. 4) For fans to take a page out furuba fandom and learn to let people be for not agreeing with your personal takes on the story or characters. Yuki and Kyo eventually tell Tohru about their side of the Hat story.

Yuki Sohma definetly caused the ruin of numerous cafes and restaurants by attracting hordes of rats every time he went to eat out there. Shigure still finds it hilarious to this day.

Yuki once enrolled in cooking classes bc he wanted to surprise his friends and girlfriend with a homecooked meal. All his classmates were terrified of him and his instructor cried when he finally withdrew. Of course he's stubborn and continued to practice in his apartment. It didn't end well. The firefighters know him by name levels of didn't end well. Finally both Machi and Tohru take pity of his ass and teach him. Under their careful guidance he eventually learns how to make rice and soup.

Tohru Honda daughter of Kyoko Honda defiently knows how to throw a punch and one day when she and Kyo were fighting/flirting without realising she catches him off guard and accidentally gives him a black eye. Tohru spent the evening trying to apologize while pressing a bag of frozen peas to Kyo's face while he was like... in awe bc HIS GIRLFRIEND IS SO STRONG. When Arisa finds out what happened (bc Tohru totally called her) she almost dies laughing her ass off and never let's Kyo forget that happened.

Snk:

Carla Jaeger most certainly taught his son how to cook and he's very good at it. Roping him into helping her cook was one the only ways she could keep an eye on him and be sure he wasnt fighting or getting into trouble all over the town so she commited to her plan. It went better than either of them expected.

Jean had a crush on Eren at one point and no I'm not taking criticisms. One day he was busy glaring at him for walking alongside Mikasa and suddenly he was like... huh Eren's pretty cool actually. I admire him. Right??? And he spent days agonizing wondering if he wanted to be Eren (to be close to Mikasa) or if he LIKED Eren too and his poor bisexual ass suffered so much. Those were the days he was so frustrated with his double crush he would find any excuse to start a fight. Btw Sasha saw right through him and Jean still doesnt know how on earth she noticed.

U- Three favorite characters from three (two) different fandoms, and why they are your favorites.

Fruits basket: You all know Yuki is my sun and stars like I'm not exactly subtle. So instead I'm gonna talk about my three favorite female characters.

1) Machi: she arrived late to the party but when I realised she had become my most favorite female character. She's just... so relatable. A big part of why I connect so strongly with her is bc I saw a lot of my 16 yeas old self in her. When I read chapter 94 I had to put down my phone and took a deep breath bc... Machi was me. It's insane how strongly I related to her.

2)Tohru: my mad respect for Tohru knows no bounds. All alone and trying to be so strong. I love Tohru for how good she is and her story of finally opening the lid and confront his trauma in order to be able to move forward is... excelent. I could spend days taking about Tohru Honda and how wonderful and human and flawed she is. One of the best constructed female protagonists I've even seen.

3) Akito. I love Akito. She captured my interest for the very start and oh how she kept it. I adore Akito bc she does terrible things that can never be undone and at the same time, is the one to finally put the horror to end. Akito stops the circle of violence of the curse and does her damn best to become a better person, even removing herself from the lives of the ex zodicas bc she is very aware of how she wronged them and doesnt want to make them uncomfortable. I adore her struggles with her identity and her internalized mysoginy and everything about her. Also... Akito hot 💅.

Snk:

Eren is the light of my life what more can I say?

Mikasa is wonderful and a fascinating balance between vulnerabilty and strenght. I loved Mikasa as soon as I saw her and she remains one of my most favorite characters of snk.

Jean. Oh man JEAN. The character with the most satisfying character development of the whole story. I already loved him to bits after Trost but then he went and said the very same thing I was screaming about since day 1: it is really ok if in order to defeat these monsters we become worse than them? A KING. I adore Jean and his courage and growth and how he always retains a cool head over his shoulders and hnnng. Jean Kirstein.

Also there were some disappointments but im just happy Jessie finally has peace ;w;)

(1/1) The amount of patience you have in replying to these people amazes me. I, at least, appreciate all the work and research you've done in digging up and explaining all this stuff. The mental gymnastics some of these stans are putting them through literally makes my head hurt. I think the main reason why I enjoy your blog so much, and the reason why i appreciate your lengthy and well thought out responses, is because I feel I went through a very similar thought process with this whole thing.

(2/2). I thought SR was innocent or misrepresented, etc. But the main reason why I decided to not support him anymore was because of his absolute apathy towards the female victims. Whether you believe he’s 100% guilty, 100% innocent or anything in between, you cant deny that he has never ever said 1 word of sympathy or empathy for the female victims. Not 1. His only words were dont get caught. He can express empathy w/o admitting guilt. Why do you want to stan someone like that?

First of all, that you think I have any patience left for these people is pretty funny. I mean, I’m glad it looks that way to you, but I’m not exactly proud of the way I’ve been snapping at people this year. I’m not normally like this, promise. I’m just so fed up with everything. It’s been a long, hard year.

This! This is something that really gets me. Back when I was still rooting for him, every time he would put himself out there and speak I thought, “Please, please say something to or about the women directly affected by this.” Not only did I need to see that he cared, let’s be real, I still cared about him and his image at the time and it would have helped. A carefully worded expression of sympathy, a few words making it clear that he felt contrite about what he’d seen and kept silent about, or even something as basic as an acknowledgement that what had been done to them was wrong. Like so many others, I waited and hoped… and it never came.

At first I reasoned that he couldn’t offer anything resembling an apology because it might be seen as an admission of guilt. Then I learned that viewing hidden camera footage (along with the lesser offense of simply knowing about it), the only evidence of his involvement we had at the time, isn’t technically a crime in South Korea. It isn’t punishable. Which means that speaking up about it, apologizing for his involvement, however minimal, would not have landed him in any legal trouble. Everyone knew he’d been in that chat, everyone saw what he replied to. But he wouldn’t address it.

So then I thought, “Well, an apology could be seen as an admission of guilt on his friends’ behalf. Maybe he’s shielding them.” However, Jung Joonyoung issued a statement of apology the day after the chats were released – yes, the very next day! – admitting to his crimes of secretly filming these women and disseminating the footage in chatrooms, calling what he’d done “illegal and immoral”. Then, just two days after that, Choi Jonghoon also issued a letter in which he apologized to the victims (it’s buried a few paragraphs in)… and in that same letter announced his retirement. Why, when his friends had already publicly taken responsibility for their involvement in the chats, would Seungri choose not to do the same for his? Why withhold his sympathy? Did he even have any? Surely it occurred to him that he should say something… or did it? Compare Jonghoon’s letter of retirement with Seungri’s rather curt announcement in which he positions himself as a victim and a martyr. There’s very little here that feels sincere or truly apologetic; to me it reads more like an angry, offended little boy taking his toys and going home. This is why I have no hope for him learning from this or bettering himself as a person; he doesn’t seem to think he’s done anything wrong.

So, where do the women victims come in? See Seungri’s closing statement in his Chosun interview: “I am greatly apologetic to the many people that looked at me with interest for the last 10 years, the fans and nation that cheered me on, my former company YG, and to my team and colleagues.” Hello? Seems like he’s forgetting someone – or consciously avoiding mentioning them. Even when directly confronted about it in his Chosun interview, when asked why he was a bystander, nothing about his response was remotely remorseful. Instead, what we got was an awkward, bumbling attempt to make himself look better without ever acknowledging the moral degeneracy of it all. Like he was aware of what was expected of him but didn’t actually feel regret over his failure to stop it… he only regrets that people didn’t see him try (if it’s even true that he tried). As if the only thing he cares about is what others think of him, not the victims who he let down, not what’s right or wrong. He issued an apology to Kim Sang Kyo of all people after he was roughed up by police at Burning Sun, something he’s actively tried to distance himself from… but that was when he was still with YG and had a publicist on his side. Yet these women who were assaulted by his friends, clandestinely filmed and exploited, the footage of their bodies spread in chatrooms where he was present, aware of it, and even reacted with humor on at least one occasion… now that he’s on his own, nothing about them. Nothing at all.

To make matters worse, he sent an angry text message to reporters in which he complained about his privacy being violated, his private information leaked without permission. So, what, in his eyes this is only a problem so far as it pertains to him, but when it happens to someone else, and in a way that’s far worse? Not a word.

How can he be so preoccupied with himself? How self-absorbed? What he has done here is display a shocking lack of empathy and awareness for others. I guess he figured that since he wasn’t legally on the hook for anything related to these women and their trauma, it wasn’t his problem. They weren’t his problem. We’re more than nine months in and there’s not been a peep from him about anything that he’s decided doesn’t immediately concern him. His staunch refusal to so much as allude to the women who’ve had their lives turned upside-down by this is very telling.

It’s downright disturbing, to be honest, the more you think about it. Total immersion in a state of self-preservation at best, misogynistic and/or sociopathic at worst.

*cracks knuckles* okayyy this one is fun lets get down to it!

yuki sohma is! a fuck boy! yuki is the boy who sends machi/kakeru/whoever tf late night “you up?” texts, who lightens the mood by saying “noo dont do x youre so sexy aha,” who is always down to fuck. he and machi watch titanic together; yuki is crying halfway through the movie but hes also being a slutty slutty boy together with machi. he wants machi to draw him like a french girl. with kakeru its a little less obvious because yuki would Rather Die than be caught screwing around with kakeru, but hes still the type to shut him up with a kiss, to avoid serious conversations by doing sexy stuff lmao. that being said, he is still a very emotional boy, and rather open with his feelings; he tends to intellectualize emotions (abby would say its his libra moon) but overall he is very sweet. he believes the only way to respect women is through pleasure and tbh can you blame him??

ayame sohma is an absolute sweetheart omg, tbh discord and i hc that he and mine have the fewest fights of any of the couples; they just exude that “perfect communication, perfect for each other” energy yknow? anyway aya has plenty of flair to spare and he spends a lot of it complimenting mine and making her feel like the most perfect and beautiful princess in the world. they both wear the dress on their wedding day and its gorgeous; theyre beautiful and soulmates and aya is very sweet.

kureno sohma is head over heels in love w his girl uo (if youre gonna fight me over kurenuo dont plz :P)! he’s the type to always assume that uo is doing fine because “shes much more capable with most things than he is” which is true! uo will call him and be upset about something or other and he’ll ask her if shes okay; when she explains whats going on and how shes wondering if she can’t handle....... whatever it is (college uo college uo head canon that actually instead of them travelling together immediately kureno went on his own and uo went to college but they still stayed pen pals anyway shes worried about not doing well in classes) he says something incredibly sweet along the lines of “well, of course you can handle this! you’re capable of everything” and she can tell he really really means it and it doesnt solve the problem but it does make her feel better, and reminds her that she is loved

shigure sohma, once things settle after canon, finally has the chance to spoil the girl he loves, and he does; actually, i think it negatively impacts the rest of his relationships for a while. he becomes completely subservient to akito for a while because he’s found his “happy ending,” so it’s okay to give into those feelings of wanting to spoil her now, right? she’s the most important person in his life, after all. anyway, that mindset lasts for a bit until suddenly it breaks bc akki isnt suddenly perfect either, shes still naturally jealous and afraid that he will leave her, that he’ll cheat on her, so they have a fight at some point; they spend some time apart where shigure learns that it’s okay to love his family and himself, on top of akki, and that being in love isnt about doing everything for the other person; meanwhile akki gets some therapy about her anxiety and rage issues and settles down enough to trust shigure. from then on he’s still very loving and spoiling, but he spends more time teasing her than before, and spends time discussing pros and cons of various couple decisions that they have to make.

hatori sohma is super super cute and super super awkward oml. he spends the early days of his relationship with mayu trying to be cool and impress her because shes so cool (!); he buys aviator sunglasses bc he heard they make people look cool and mysterious and his lactose intolerant ass will go on ice cream dates with mayu which doesnt always.... end well lmaooo. hes very protective of her, perhaps a bit overbearing when she’s sick or injured especially, but it’s always very clear that his heart is full of love for his girl, that he loves her to bits.

hatsuharu sohma has big dick energy ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) now that thats out of the way: if anyone on this list was gonna tease his girl its haru, oml. haru spends 99% of his day finding new and exciting ways to annoy rin cause he thinks shes cute when she’s annoyed (she is) and because hes very confident that they’ll be together forever p much no matter what (they will be). the other 1% of the day is being the sweetest guy in the world bc thats just haru, he tells rin that shes beautiful, that she’s the only girl for him, that its just facts that they would be together, and then the 1% is up and hes explaining that its bc “who else has this goth energy” and “anyway i like your tits” but! its still sweet, even though he’s annoying.

momiji sohma is a cutie! but he’s also a little shit sometimes. he’d rather be a little shit to the rest of the world, with kimi, than to her specifically though; the two of them are dramatic little shits who stage fake arguments, uncomfortable couple dynamics, overly slutty relationships, etc for the specific purpose of the Drama TM of it all. they also like to play up traditional “male and female, husband and wife” roles to the point of satire, because they think it’s funny to point out how ridiculous it is to be such stilted characters together; unfortunately, however, no one around them pays enough attention socially to figure any of it out :( but! it doesnt matter bc for the most part theyre just starting drama and making each other laugh, so its good :).

hiro sohma is v v v sweet and protective; when he gets a little older he joins the “respect women at all costs” gang with kyo, hatori, kureno, and ayame (vs the “respect women through sex” gang with yuki, shigure, haru, and momiji); he’s a bit of a shit about it bc its hiro but its very sweet! anybody comes and bothers kisa and he’s on their ass about how you can’t treat girls that way blah blah blah hiros v talkative lmao. anyway he’s cute moving on.

kyo sohma (bc i like making kyo stans wait til the end to get their man >:P) is completely obsessed with doin right by his girl. he loves tohru to bits (he’s never ever loved anyone else either, man is a tohrusexual through and through) and honestly its a little overbearing sometimes here too lmao. hc that during the v stressful time when theyre planning their wedding (and tohru is pregnant haha) kyo does his whole “let me do everything for you are you sure you should be doing that in your condition? get some rest i can do this for you also fuck anybody coming to bother her with anything yall are assholes” thing--which, normally tohru thinks is cute n sweet tbh (cause it kinda is) but when shes stressed out of her mind, hormonal, and annoyed w herself for not being able to do as much as she normally can? she gets a little snippy with him sometimes :) however its just a learning experience for them kyo eventually gets better at reading the mood and they live happily ever after forever

10 Fav characters from 10 different shows, movies or books!!

Thank you @thewinterose @uchisuke @aryllahiruelric @machi-kuragi for tagging me <3 I had a lot of fun making this list. So many good vibes associated with these characters and their stories.

Here goes:

1. Kyo Sohma. We will forever stan one endearing, awkward, respectful young man who is a grumps to the whole world except On Ray of Sunshine aka Miss Honda Tohru who gets an honorable mention for sharing the #1 spot because she’s carried my favorite story and shared some lessons I’ll have with me forever.

2. Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura. She was my first love. Ah, to be Sakura. Twirl that Clow staff like a bawse, summon those Clow cards, fly around in those amazing costumes my BFF made for me, glide beneath the cherry blossoms on those roller blades, was all I wanted as a 9 year old and tbh still do...

3. Zuko from ATLA. ONE ANGRY HONOR DEPRIVED FIRE PRINCE WHO IS AN ACTUAL HUMAN DISASTER. I love Zuko so much. Does he have THE best character arc ever written or what.

4. Lily Evans from Harry Potter. We had so little to go on with about Harry’s mom, but she’s been my favorite forever. This bright, vivacious young witch who married an equally charming , brave, young man and then tragically died for her son, fighting the most evil wizard of all time. Sign me up for the angst any day.

5. Chihiro from Spirited Away, my fav Ghibli movie. I guess I saw a lot of myself in the sullen, grumpy little girl sitting in the back of her parent’s car. The image always stuck, and the movie itself was so haunting and enchanting and will always be a favorite I return to.

6. Taichi Mashima from Chihayafuru. He possibly has one of the best character development arc i’ve come across. A literal Cinnamon Roll. He’s like the under-dog, but honestly he steals the the spotlight and carries the whole show/manga.

7. Ben Wyatt from Parks and Rec. We stan a conscientious nerd with a heart of gold. His confession, proposal and vows to Leslie make me tear up every time. Also a human disaster in many ways but he’s good, he’s good.

8. Margaret Hale from North and South. She is to me what Lizzy is to many others. N&S is basically my P&P, but it is set against a much harsher backdrop. Also both book and series(it’s on netflix!) are amazing.

9. Aragorn from LOTR. He’s the real deal omg! A fierce warrior, a reluctant king, a loyal af friend, also has such an angsty love story which finally gets a happy ending.

10. Edward Elric from FMA B. This show has such an amazing cast, it was so hard to pick a fav but after a recent rewatch, Edward became one of my forever fave. He has my whole heart, that punk kid. He’s the perfect angry disaster with the most gawdy taste its not even funny. Actually, it’s pretty hilarious.

Disclaimer that this is just my opinion and I still love them all very much, just needed to get this out of my system ayee. Also I will include a song that reminds me of them because I am that invested in this so yeaaaa

14- Kagura Sohma

Boy by Little Mix - “I know what you’re worth girl, you know what you got”

I rank Kagura as my least favorite just for the fact that I cant really relate to her I guess? I mean, she is okay, I think she is cute and all but I don't think violence is the way to go about her struggles and she is so much more worth than she gives herself credits for. In the end, I dont think I full understood her big struggle as much as the other characters and thats why she is at number 14, although I want her to be happy and full of love and support like the others ;w;

13- Akito Sohma

My Eyes by Neil Patrick Harris and Felicia Day - “But it’s plain to see, Evil inside of me is on the rise”

Akito is a complicated one for me man. Of course, in the beginning and throughout the manga you learn to really dislike her because she did some terrible things, specially to my baby boi Yuki and eye-.... But then when we learn more about her and everything she has gone through we start sympathizing with her but i..... cant just forget everything she did. I get she was traumatized since she was little, she became dependent on the zodiacs because of her father’s words and mother’s behaviour thus becoming a broken person with this big responsibility she didn't ask for. It really ticks me however, how much pain the others underwent through her, and even though its a healing process, the traumas and everything they suffered is still there which is why I cant place her higher. I do not hate her by any means, but she isnt my favorite person on this list either. I do ship her with Shigure and I think they help each other out, and they grow from the other.

12- Shigure Sohma

Used to the Darkness by Des Rocs - “Now would you pray before you twist the knife? Yeah, would you take my hand and take a life?”

*big sigh* Shigure is also a complicated one for me. It may be my big dumb energies showing but I didnt fully get a grasp on his character? I know he was doing everything for Akito’s sake to liberate from the curse and be with her so she is finally a “woman” but he always acted a bit shady xD?? I would have love to know more about his backstory, we dont get much from his motivations and character other than the perverted aspect and that he loves Akito lmaoo. I do think he is hilarious and I love the dynamic he has with Hatori and Ayame lol

11- Ayame Sohma

Starships by Nicky Minaj - “Starships were menat to fly, Hands up and touch the sky “

To be honest I am pretty neutral about Ayame’s character. He is hilarious and I love how Yuki insults him every tike he gets the chance lolll. I like how throughout the story he tries to change to become a better brother to Yuki and person even though he is pretty extra most of the time about it. He has a good heart and even though he made some mistakes he owns up to them which in my opinion, makes him a good character <33 I love his friendship with Hatori lmaooo they balance each other out sooo well

10- Kureno Sohma

Taking Chances by Celine Dion - “Never knowing if there's solid ground below, Or a hand to hold, or hell to pay”

I really like Kureno! He has gone through quite a bit and he needs a hug. I am sad thinking how most of his life he lead it pretty similarly to Yuki’s, apart from everyone and super enclosed to his relationship with Akito due to him breaking the curse and feeling bad about it. I do wish we would have gotten to know more about his personality and story, if we did I would have definitely ranked him higher! He really reminds me of Tohru’s father and I think Uotani is perfect for him <33 would have love to see more about the two of them and hopefully they expand upon it in the anime

9- Ritsu Sohma

Waving Through a Window by Ben Platt - “On the outside, always looking in, Will I ever be more than I've always been?”

Okay okay so I have a lot of thoughts on Ritsu. Manga Ritsu is okay, I really dont have much of an opinion on him due to him appearing only in a few chapters, I feel like from the Sohma’s, he is the one we get the least information about. But then the anime episode came out where they presented Ritsu and I thought they gave him so much more life and rounded personality where, I get to relate a lot to him? I am someone who is constantly apologizing for absolutely no reason and seeing him be all anxious and stressed about others interactions is big relate to me and I stan. I also think the whole dressing as a woman plot line is better dealt with in the anime and I hope we get to see more about his insecurities and troubles in the future because he is truly a very interesting character! I stan my one (1) anxious monkey.

8- Kisa Sohma

Mean by Taylor Swift - “But you can take me down with just one single blow, But you don't know what you don't know”

Cinnammon rooooooolll. Kisa is such a cutie. I dont have much to say other than my mood every time I think about Kisa is hugging her like Tohru does because she is babyyyy. Also her bullying story is one I think many viewers and readers can relate a lot to and such an important topic I think they covered pretty well and I loveee. Also her and Hiro are one of my favorite ships because they work so well and asdfgh in this household Kisa is a queennn.

7- Isuzu Sohma

Take me Home by Jess Glynne - “Came to you with a broken faith, Gave me more than a hand to hold”

I really like Isuzu!! I am pretty bummed we wont get to meet her in season 1 of the Anime reboot but hopefully in the nest season! She is quite a complex character that I didnt really understand at the beginning but once we see how much she loves Haru and all that she does in order to protect and keep him save she really went up my list. She has gone through so much, from her shattered reality from her parents, Akito threatening Haru, her being locked up withour given any food.... Isuzu is so strong and one of the best build characters in the series and I am super excited to see her in the anime!

6- Hiro Sohma

Time to be a Man by The Airborne Toxic Event - “And it’s time to be a man, Tell me how does that go?”

My bastard childdd <33 He is such an asshole and such a sweetie at the same time. His whole inner struggle of not feeling like a good enough man for Kisa is so heartwhelming and I think it really makes sense to the type of person he is. The flashbacks of him telling Akito how he loves Kisa and the feeling of uncertainty and impotency when seeing the girl he loves being hurt by his actions and wanting to be good enough for her even though he is more than enough sdfghjasd. I am also a softie for older brothers who love their families *cough cough* spoiler alert: Momiji *cough cough* that I love me one angry boi

5- Hatsuharu Sohma

4 Seasons by Rex Orange County - “I saw myself as less and you so high above me”

Cow boil! apart from the fact that I love love loveeee Haru’s design, I think he is also such a well build character! He is not only supportive of everyone (aka the loves of his life, Rin and Yuki xDD) but he is so interesting! His split personalities give him a cool trait (even though dark Haru doesnt appear much in the end of the manga) and I love how he helps everyone and makes sure those he loves are protected at all cost and happy. He is Rin and Yuki’s fan club stan leader and I am co-leader so we been stanning aye

4- Hatori Sohma

Fireflies by Owl City - “I'm weird 'cause I hate goodbyes, I got misty eyes as they said farewell”

Boooooy the next four to come are my absolute favorties and I would die for their happiness and love so *takes big breathe* I LoVE hAtORi sOhMAAa. To be honest when we first meet him I didnt like him much. I thought he was your usual dark deep character who doesnt talk much because he is too cool for everyone (which, he is) and that was that. But boi was I in for a riDE. His story about having to erase the memories from the woman he loves is one of the ones I cried through the most. I put myself in his shoes and wonder if I had to erase the memory of the person I loved the most, make them forget they ever met me, all our happy times, sad times, angry times.... No matter what its one of the most saddening moments and the whole scene is heartbreaking, which makes me love Hatori even more for the fact of how strong he is and selfless. He puts himself before others and he need to know he also deserves happiness and I am glad in the end he got it because homeboy needed a break ;w;. I also adore Ayame’s relationship with him xDD, he is like his idol and big same.

3- Kyo Sohma

This song saved my Life by Simple Plan - “Sometimes it feels like nobody gets me, Trapped in a world where everyone hates me”

Top three babyyyy. We have now my angry cat boi™. I mentioned it before but going into the reboot firsthand without reading the manga nor watching the first anime, I thought Kyo was going to be my absolute favorite character. I knew he would be the angry boi who was soft inside and probably had a tragic backstory™ that made him act the way he did and I am a sucker for those types of characters. And I love Kyo, I really do, specially when we find out more about his struggles and past. The exclusion he felt throughout his life for being the cat, the abandonment, feeling like he had no one and was ready to die because he didn't have any source of genuine happiness (well, apart from Kazuma ya know but stillll). Then he finds Tohru, the girl he promised to protect, the one that reminded him of the woman that helped him out all those years ago and I just.... poetic cinema at its finest. Kyo and Tohru make one of my favorite couples and I love how flustered and In absolute l o v e he is with her and Kyo is great man....

2- Yuki Sohma

Nandemonaiya by RADWIMPS - “Crying even when you're happy, Smiling even when you're feeling lonely”

THIS WAS ONE OF THE HARDEST DECISIONS OF MA ENTIRE WEEB CAREER SO EXCUSE WHILE I SCREAM. Yuki Sohma won my heart and entire soul throughout the series. I liked him from the start but he wasn't my favorite favorite at the beginning you know? I thought he was isolated and thats why he didn't have much friends and he was perfect and what not but boi was I wrong and happy about it. I think one of the reasons Yuki is one of my favorite characters in fruits basket is how much I can see myself in him. Having the constant need of perfection while also wanting to connect with others but finding it hard is something I personally struggle with and every time we learned a little bit about his backstory my heart broke. Everything Yuki had to go through, the rejection, the isolation, understanding that you are loved and not a burden, falling in love with someone, finding that figure of a mother/friend he always yearned for.... The complexity of Yuki’s character is astounding and I love my rat boi so so much.... When he joins the student council, finding his little group of friends and opening up to a more carefree and true Yuki, forgiving those around him and going and eye- YuKI IS MY BABY RAT BOI AND STAN HIM OR PERISH FROM HERE ;w;

1- Momiji Sohma

*Clears throat* *trumpets sounds intensify* *stands on podium* I LOVE MOMIJI SOHMA WITH ALL MY HEART AND HE MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS. Thats it. Thats what I want you to get out of this post. I don't know if this is maybe an unpopular opinion-ish but Momiji’s backstory of his mother rejecting him, saying awful things, him having to accept being forgotten by his mother and sister whom he loved, not even being able to live with his family, is one of the most heartbreaking ones of fruits basket. Maybe its like what I said with Hiro and I am a sucker for big brothers that love their families, the sad smile of Momiji, my baby, angel, perfection when he sees his family and not being able to be with them, him loving Tohru but letting her go and be with Kyo because its her happiness that matters to him and I am-..... The selflessness of Momiji and how much of a sweetheart he is, his heart of gold and always being there for those around him, that moment where Akito was looking for Tohru and he got hurt trying to defend her.... Momiji is one of my all time favorite characters. He is a precious bean and I will never not shut up about my love for ma boi <333

So in honor of the Fruits Basket reboot who would you say are your fave Furuba characters and ships (canon) and why? Least fave Furuba characters and canon ships and why?

Fave Furuba Character/s

1.) When Ayame Sohma was introduced in the 14th episode of the2001 version, I knew there and then that I would die for this idiot, I think itis in the way he carries himself that I find endearing? he might be shunnedsometimes coz he’s loud and highkey with everything but to brush aside thosecriticisms and believe in yourself and to not conforme on what is expected fromyou, wow that takes guts, and when you learn about his backstory especially inregards to his brother, it kinda makes you root for him more and more; beneaththat loud exterior is a person who realizes his fault and tries to correct itand not let that mistake identify him as a person. That really resonates withme growing up. (Or maybe I just love extra and dramatic people to whom hesuccessfully portrayed)

2.) As a literature major, I know a story wouldn’t becomplete without a complex character which makes the story have that “oomph”factor, I think the character that really stood out for me would be ShigureSohma. I know he is problematic and selfish, like playing a game of chess andusing the other characters as pawns and disregarding them if they don’t haveany use anymore just to achieve his goal, but if you look more closely, isn’tthat how we are as humans? there are people out there who will use anything andanybody to achieve their goals and Shigure embodies that, I might be also drawnto him because I am curious as to how these morally grey characters willachieve their goals and to what extent. He balances out the story because ifhe won’t drive the other characters in the corner, those characters will bestuck forever in their grounds and the story would be meh and stagnant, he’sone of the catalysts as to why Tohru, who might still have some doubts aboutherself, seek out Akito and seek out a solution to the curse, the other half ofcourse is because of her love for Kyo. He is good at playing the villain sincea lot of readers seem to hate him, and that what makes a good character for me,when you are able to bring out emotions from your readers and know what makesthem tick

Fave Canon ship/s

1.) Kyoru through and through anon, their development isjust…ahh… I can’t explain it, I think there is just that satisfying feelingwhen you know the romance wasn’t rushed, that they didn’t have a love-atfirst-sight kind of thing, that it was gradual and you know that their actionsto each other are pure and with no hidden malice. I think part of also why theyare my ultimate ship is because they grow as partners and as individuals, whichfor me is important, that they are not dependent with each other and that theythink of their future positively and if they want their future to be good theyare aware that they need to heal and grow and not to be shadowed by their past.(I think Natsuki Takaya’s one of the many messages in the story is to continueliving and forgiving yourself for any sins you have committed as long as youare aware of them and that you are trying your best to be a better version ofyourself.)

Least fave Furuba character/s

1.) Motoko Minagawa, the President of the Prince Yuki FanClub, she was, in my opinion, a flat character; I really can’t stand her,probably because she doesn’t have any growth? I mean sure she is there toglorify Yuki and then…and then what? She feels one-dimensional to me and isforgettable. (But if any of you have a dissertation (lol) as to why she’s your favouritecharacter let me know so that I can read it and maybe change my mind.)

Least Fave Canon ship/s

1.) oh god, some of you might hate me for this butHatori/Mayuko is my least fave canon ship, Kana and Hatori were one of my favouriteand yes the backstory really devastated me. I don’t have any problems withHatori finding someone as I know he deserves the world and happiness, myproblem is, out of the many, why does it need to be someone who is close toKana? Specifically Kana’s best friend? (god I really hate this kind of trope).From what I know, Hatori’s power of memory loss is more of like hypnotism andthat it is not 100% guarantee that the person will forget about one of theSohma clan’s secret, so imagine Hatori and Mayuko going on with their lives andthere is Kana because of course, she is Mayuko’s best friend, what if one dayKana remembers everything about Hatori because she sometimes see him andMayuko? what then?? why am I ranting?? (Hatori/Mayuko stans, don’t hate me, Irespect if you love them, just let me pour out my feelings, or maybe I justneed to read some meta about the two so that I would be more open-minded abouttheir relationship, you do you guys, this is a free world.)

Spring 2018 Anime

I survived the exam week from hell! One exam a day, for a total of 41 hours of lectures I had to remember. I wish I’d never have to do that again but we all know everything’s just beginning.

Anyway, I figured since I’ve watched at least 3 episodes of the shows I’m following this season so far, I’d talk a little bit about them (and also what I dropped).

CURRENT SEASON:

Fruits Basket: Newly-orphaned girl starts living with Animorphs When I first heard that this was getting a (new) anime, I was really surprised, since it’s been like ~15 years or something since the manga finished. I never watched the first anime and I honestly probably wouldn’t want to, it looks pretty dated. But I am enjoying this iteration! I stanned Kyo so hard in middle school though, I kept a diary in 8th grade that’s pretty much half full of “I <3 Kyo”. But so much time has passed by that I’m so much older than him now! It’s so weird. But I am glad they’re adapting the whole manga, there’s some really great moments in the later half, when things start to get serious. Also the OP and ED are so nice and calming. I played them on repeat while studying for finals.

Kimetsu no Yaiba: Brother and sister go demon-hunting It’s finally here!! I think this the anime I’ve ever looked forward to the most. And it’s such a great adaptation so far, I feel blessed. It’s not 100% what I expected but it’s doing a hell of a great job. I really hope they get far into the manga to where things really pick up. But it’s so amazing actually seeing the characters moving and talking. I love the OP so much and I’m so fucking hyped for the breaths in the anime (just one more day!) And the ending made me tear up the first time. I feel like a really proud parent, after working on the manga for more than half its lifetime. I think I’m going a little overboard on buying merch, but it’s worth it to support KnY!

Kono Oto Tomare!: Koto club struggles to stay afloat I’m enjoying this so far, it’s been keeping my attention at least. I don’t know too much about kotos but I like the characters so far. I’ll have to see if it stays engaging, I’ve heard praise for the manga though.

One Punch Man S2: Continuation OPM 1, not much explanation needed Honestly I think the best material from the manga was in the 1st season. This season’s material isn’t as good, and since Murata’s version hasn’t even caught up to the really good parts of the webcomic because of all the filler, I don’t even know if those good parts will be in this season. I’m mostly watching out of obligation at this point. The animation also doesn’t live up to S1, although Garous fight in Ep 3 wasn’t bad. But again, I think my qualms are just with the material not being as good after everything Boros was.

Sarazanmai: Gay kappas sucking out souls through asses I... don’t really know where this anime is heading. It’s very engaging so far and the animation looks great. But I feel like I have no idea what’s going on with the otter storyline. I can at least follow the kappa thing after 3 episodes though. I think people should give this a try just because that first episode was one hell of a weird intro.

CONTINUING FROM LAST SEASON:

Dororo: Not-brother and not-sister go demon-hunting Still continuing from last season. I think it’s been a bit boring lately tbh, I think the monster-of-the-week formula has been kinda lackluster here. It does look like they’re trying to show Hyakkimaru becoming more misanthropic, and I’m not sure if I like the direction they’re going in. I feel like the ending will be either really depressing or bittersweet. I hate bittersweet don’t @ me

DROPPED:

Fairy Gone Gunjou no Magmel Kenja no Mago Mayonaka no Occult Koumin Midara na Ao-chan wa Benkyou wa Dekinai: I dropped this show because the MC is dumb and the show has too many bad misunderstandings, but the OP is a fucking banger so everyone should listen to it at least once. RobiHachi
