Mysterylover watches MHA: “TDBKDK Family Dinner #2: Anime Version”

So yes last episode we did cover the first half of the family dinner. Now we’re covering part 2. BTW this music is BIZARRE. Why are we recapping all this angst with triumphant music?

Anyway so let’s talk about this arc in general. Since I already posted about the manga chapter, I’m not sure what to add about the anime episode other than “hey, music choice” or “line delivery”, but I’ve reread this arc a lot so I feel like I wanna analyze it instead.

3. Let’s talk about Bakugou. Bakugou’s arc throughout most of the series has been all about learning to care for other people. Learning the “save to win” part of things. He comes to the internship wanting to find “what he was missing”. In the climax, he rescues Natsuo from Ending. But the odd thing is, Bakugou already showed in the Joint Training arc that he was capable of saving people now. So it wasn’t that he needed to learn to save.

What Bakugou got from this arc, many fans believe, was the realization that he mistreated Deku and needed to make amends. All Might at the start of the arc points out that Bakugou is like Endeavor. This comparison was probably one Bakugou was making since the Sports Festival when he overheard Todo’s Backstory Confession to Deku. And here, Bakugou witnesses exactly what being an obsessive, violent asshole who pushes their loved ones away to become the top pro will end up with.

Complete alienation. A family who will never forgive him.

And Bakugou, I believe, wants Deku’s forgiveness and friendship back. He pushed Deku away - he admits to bullying him and hurting him in Chapter 284. And he’s trying to atone for his actions. From this arc, Bakugou learns that he needs to make things up to Deku. He doesn’t say so explicitly, but that’s what most fans take from it. 

Endeavor can never truly make it up to his family, it seems, for all he did. Natsuo will never forgive him, Shoto probably won’t either. Now, currently in the manga Endeavor’s actions have spiraled out to pretty much destroy hero society thanks to Touya, so he’s become even more of a cautionary tale for Bakugou.

What makes that even more interesting, though, is that Bakugou and Midoriya are two halves of one whole. So the same person who is an interesting foil and cautionary tale for Bakugou has to be one for Midoriya too. Given Deku’s current arc in the manga - pushing everyone who loves him away in an obsessive quest to be the best - it’s clear that Deku could maybe have benefitted from comparing himself to Endeavor too.

This hard-hitting examination of his own flaws is what makes Bakugou so compelling, especially in recent times. Unlike Endeavor, who seems to keep floundering back into the same mistakes, Bakugou just keeps improving. 

Shoto and Midoriya mostly got New Cool Moves out of this arc, and less on the Character Development scale. Deku’s conversation with Shoto about being a “nice person” was something a lot of the fandom eviscerated him for back in the day (before the arc had wrapped) since Natsuo overheard it and felt bad about it. 

Deku is a very forgiving person, I’ve never seen him hold a genuine grudge (he’s currently on a quest to save the Supervillain who kidnapped his soulmate, which is about as forgiving as you get). But while holding grudges can be bad, Deku’s mindset may also be problematic. Being too forgiving of evil done to you and others can also cause problems. Deku’s advice to Shoto was well-intentioned, but it had the unintended side effect of guilt-tripping Natsuo and making him feel like a bad person.

Interestingly, even though Deku is the unofficial Todoroki Family Counsellor, he’s never really been able to help Shoto and the fam get through their trauma all on his own. “It’s your Power” was a great moment, but in the aftermath Shoto wasn’t sure what to do with it. He needed to go work through his own problems afterwards. Deku can’t magically fix all the Todo family’s problems, even though he’d like to. To some degree, given the Sports Fest and this arc, it seems like Shoto may need the help of both Halves of the Wonder Duo.

Fighting Bakugou forced Shoto into the position where he had to face his past trauma. His fight with Inasa revealed that he still holds resentment against Endeavor, and that resentment wasn’t something he could - or should! - just be zen about. So what’s Bakugou’s approach to being harmed by someone?

Bakugou has channeled his anger over Shigaraki abducting him into productive motivation. Maybe I’m letting my recent FMA binge watch bias me as to how the story is going to go, but my guess is that the message may be something like Winry’s story there. No need to forgive people who’ve done something terrible for you; instead, learn to channel anger into motivation and power. That seems to be how Bakugou is handling Shigaraki, and maybe it’s how he can help Shoto handle Endeavor too.

Well, that’s not so much clear in this arc, but anyway. Back to Deku and Kacchan’s story. So Deku pretty clearly holds nothing against Kacchan for mistreating him (look at how cheerfully he interacts with him in this arc! Very, very shippy stuff, they’re every bit the Old Married Couple here). So if Bakugou needs to make amends to Deku, and Todoroki needs to channel his anger, what does Deku need to do?

Given the most recent arc, it’s clear Deku needs to learn to rely on other people. That’s his overall arc. In this arc, we see him doing the Evacuation portion, using BlackWhip to save lives. But we also see Kacchan saving Natsuo and Shoto beating Ending. When the Trinity work together as a team, they surpass the #1 pro. That’s probably why they weren’t able to do so before Natsuo was taken.

Deku needs Kacchan’s strength and confidence. Shoto needs Kacchan’s ability to channel his anger. Kacchan and Shoto both need Deku’s kindness and compassion. Deku and Kacchan needed Shoto’s cautionary tale to mend things with each other. Together, of course, they are the best trio. Who win, rescue, and save together.

Oh! Didn't know that Saiki K. is a Shounen. Aside that, what are your opinions on that anime? On another note, In terms of fan fiction, what are the fandoms that you actively read on? Do u have recommendations?

Saiki K:

Saiki K is a lot of things. Personally, my brain classifies it as slice of life/comedy FIRST AND FOREMOST but it is also technically a shonen (and yeah, it was published in Shonen Jump.) It’s simultaneously a lot like MP100 and yet also NOTHING like MP100.

In terms of the anime, I have a lot of fun with it! Honestly it’s super overwhelming on first watch because there is SO MUCH overlapping dialogue happening so fast that it’s tough to catch if you aren’t a super fast reader (sub) or are keen to absorb all that stimulus (dub) but I do enjoy it greatly as just something fun and funny and relatively easy to consume (speed of quips notwithstanding). Shun Kaido and his “eighth grade delusion” self in particular charms me as much as it makes me feel bad for him or embarrassed to have to witness him, but honestly the friendships he strikes up with with Aran (who is… likely my favorite. Because delinquent.) and Saiki in particular make me smile. Actually, over time, pretty much all the characters grew on me so even though Miss Ganguro transfer student is my favorite girl, I do also believe in Teruhashi supremacy at the same time. (…If it matters, I also believe Saiki himself is the king of all tsunderes since if he really didn’t like the people around him, he could simply make them cease to be OR change his life so that it wasn’t very particularly structured as a slice of life comedy manga/anime.)

Ah. Well, this is tough… there are SO many good stories out there, Anon. But whatever fandoms I am writing for also tend to be what fandoms I am reading for. The exception seems to be that when I miss a character badly enough I will loop back and re-visit those fandoms, hahaha. Usually this means I revisit the Legend of Zelda recent submissions and scour it for non-Zelink and General content ha ha ha!

Right now, I’m mostly sticking to BNHA/MHA content because that is also what I am writing.

Generally I prefer things that are canon-compliant, canon-adjacent, or AUs that hold very closely to canon or painstakingly careful considerations to characterization… with a few exceptions (I am not quite as self-limiting with Bakudeku/Dekubaku content, though I’m still horribly picky about it.) My Ao3 bookmarks (and most of my Ao3 history, though I don’t curate it as well to junk the ones I clicked on and immediately backed out from) can also function as recommendations, but I’ll list a few favorite authors:

Chymerical (Gen and Bakudeku. I really appreciate Diamond Grind so much but Twice in a Lifetime makes me laugh the most. Absolutely incredible author.)

Kanthia (Legend of Zelda and Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z. Honestly, they’re a personal fandom hero to me and major inspiration. Recently published more post-Cell-Saga stuff that I absolutely ADORED.)

young_crone (A NSFW BKDK author. My favorite is One Day at a Time, the one where their air conditioner breaks and nothing actually happens besides both of them being total dumbasses about handling their day onwards, BUT everything they write is just beautiful. It doesn’t matter to me when they stray farther from their original characterizations because they are just THAT good at doing what they do!)

Seeress (BKDK. Many stories. A little, um, sweeter and more domestic than I usually favor for BKDK, but hey! They’re great! Some are hit-and-miss for me, but I have a special soft spot for Panacea and Let Me Assist You Personally.

MySecretFandomMoments (BKDK, KRBK, TDBKDK. Read Big Protien. Read it right now.)

SmartiMart (Bakudeku, EraserMic, Dadzawa content. By far the most relatively “sappy” author recommendation on this list, but there’s so much energy, real love, and joyful passion in all of their stories.)

Sour_Idealist (BKDK and General. I have a VERY high opinion of their work and wish I could be like them. My favorite is actually a fic that is a meeting between Todoroki Rei and Hawks called Hope That Soul is Changing. It’s fantastic.)

Pikahlua (yeah, like @pikahlua. Someone who writes detailed meta about a series usually brings the same insight and love of the canon material into their work.)

Rironomind (One Punch Man GenoSai and BKDK. Includes an experimental piece for BKDK that I… like I can’t tell you what happened and there’s no way to experience it and I ahsidoemeosoek anyway Colourless Saitama and his Years of Training as well as Mouth in the Door - which is an original work - are my favorites.)

Roadtripwithlucifer (BKDK. Despite several of these authors having a large proportion of NSFW in their works, I somehow want to say she’s the horniest of all my listed authors. Also plays the most fast and loose with most AU concepts, but like. There’s something comforting and very “fanfiction for fanfiction’s sake” about it that I just find super appealing. THAT SAID my favorite is Zero-Sum Game which is a completely and intentionally fucked up story but does earnestly take a lot of the core parts of the BKDK dynamic, crank them up to MAXIMUM VOLUME, and then perform surgery on them under a microscope in front of a live audience.)

Honestly? There are SO many more out there. I stuck to BNHA and BKDK authors predominantly because it’s where I’m at recent to you asking, but there’s always more…

What are your personal favourite tropes to read in a tdbk fic? I think I’ve read on your regular BnHA blog that you prefer canon universe settings to AUs, but I’m just curious to know a little more about your fic trends.

I have a very broad taste - and doing the library also has pushed me out of my usual comfort zone as I've tried many different things I haven't necessarily before. Also, most of the recs I give here are things I've read personally, but nowadays I also include recs from people I follow (who write things I like, but read things I don't necessarily like) to expand into directions that people may enjoy.

So yeah, I prefer:

canonverse/canon close verse to complete AUs, but there are many AUs I have enjoyed too.

future fics (young pro-hero times is my sweet spot) to high-school or childhood settings.

angst, feelings, dysfunction to pure fluff, but I also have a sweet spot for well-written crack

length doesn't matter - I'll read a 100-word vignette or a 500K slowburn as long as it hits a sweet spot

rating also doesn't matter, I'll read from G-E, and have a particularly sweet spot for platonic TDBK friendship/ pre-relationship stuff

favourite tropes include:

quirk accidents - especially ones that force a new perspective on a character (e.g. mind-reading, truth quirk, body or quirk swap, time or dimension travel, age regression, animal form, etc)

getting together / getting back together (the aching type)

domestic TDBK in deep denial (the type where they are already married but still think that they are fuck-buddies) with cathartic feelings realizations

unhealthy coping mechanisms (especially using physical fight as an outlet / courtship)

exasperated ship captains / wingmen from Class A

slowburn progression of intimacy, touch-starved TDBK

the inevitable clusterf*ck that is Todoroki x social media

Bakugou & the Todorokis (also, this may be strange, but I like if fics give nuance to Endeavor and Shouto's relationship with him. Flat paper evil Endeavor portrayals take me out of fics unless it's a complete AU where it fits)

The picture looks like it was taken in a cafe, Todoroki in a light blue sweater that even from a distance looks wildly soft, seated at a baby grand piano with his short hair effortlessly tousled. It's one of those photos where it's obvious Todoroki wasn't expecting it to be taken—he's in the middle of looking up at whoever is behind the camera, a smile small on his face but delight evident in the curve of his mouth.

He's stupidly beautiful. Looking at him for too long makes Izuku kind of sweaty.

They both sit there staring at this one picture for almost three full minutes. In complete silence. Eventually, Kacchan sighs a little bit and tips his head backwards to rest on the couch. Staring up at the ceiling, he murmurs, “Well, shit.”

Izuku can't stop the lightly hysterical laugh that explodes from his mouth in response.

“We're fucked.” * Izuku, Katsuki, and Shouto fuck up a meet-cute, twice. But everyone wins in the end.

It's my bio, I do whatever I want with it. Bitchy anons don't dictate my life. Origin Trio in my bio does not mean that I like the origin characters in equal measure, only that I like them in this particular formation.

I like Deku as part of Origin Trio and I enjoy that particular dynamic a lot because they play off each other well. I also like TDBKDK as a ship and do fic-recs over @2toplibrary for it. I even run @origintriodaily as a sideblog with content dedicated only to the trio. I've written Origin Trio fics.

What do you contribute to fandom other than harassing others on anon?

And yes, in many other situations, I don't enjoy Deku as a character, especially lately.

I find him very boring solo, he's much more enjoyable to me when he plays off of more compelling characters.

I find the OFA subplot underwhelming, and his power-upgrades unearned

I used to be neutral on IzuOcha, but I find it quite irritating recently (and I am bitter that it's taking up now so much space in the endgame because HK neglected to build it before), the IidaOchaDeku trio for me is also very flat and vanilla.

I also find it very sad how little effort went into the TDDK friendship from Deku's part since the end of the Endeavor internship arc.

Or how much only Deku-centric friendships get oxygen and every other class-bond is withering.

Shouto is not the only reason I'm disappointed; other faves of mine like Momo also got pushed into the background because they are not sufficiently close to Deku. But Shouto's plot especially suffered from the new Deku-centric storytelling. He should have been much more visible post-war considering how important crossroads his plot was at.

The manga content in 2021 really ruined a lot of Deku for me - I hated most of the solo arc, I feel bitter how all other characters were sidelines for an underwhelming plot like that which imho didn't do any favours to Deku either minus the dark design.

Despite this, I still get excited about the Origin Trio scenes and interactions, even if there were very little lately, so I'm not ready yet to turn in my Origin Trio fan-card to the self-appointed fandom police.

My Top 10 MHA OT3′s

I feel like MHA is not certain if it wants to be a story about trinities or duos. Sometimes it feels like the narrative follows a long list of contrasting duos, all resembling our leads (BKDK, TSCHK, TDMM, KRMN, MRTM, KMJR, etc.) And sometimes, especially recently, it feels like the series is actually about a bunch of trinities, a la Naruto - the Three Musketeers, the Big 3, and more! So since I’ve spent plenty of time talking about my favorite duo ships, I figured I’d rank my OT3s. 

(I’m sure my #1 will be a big surprise “sarcasm”)

#10. TODOBAKUMOMO

So of course Todo/Momo are a ship of mine, and they’ve got great chemistry. But TD/BK’s chemistry is hard to deny, and they’re getting so developed lately, growing slowly into a rival ship to rival BKDK. And early on, Bakugou and Momo did have interesting potential. If these three ever hang out/work together as a trinity, I’ll rank it higher.

#9. THE LURKERS (Mt Lady, Kamui Woods & Edgeshot)

Our first grown-up Trinity hero team; continuing the Trinity theme the Big 3 started when they were introduced, we also saw the birth of the triad of some of the series’ most iconic pro heroes. They definitely had a hard time last arc though. Hope they all come out OK!  Also worth noting that they resemble our lead trinity - the Spider-manesque underdog (Deku/Kamui Woods), the cool mysterious one (Edge/Shoto) and the flashy famous blonde one (Kacchan/Mt Lady). 

#8. INACAMIESEIJI

Also continuing the School/Pros Trinity theme, we have the Big 3 of Shiketsu! (I know that’s Togacamie in this pic, but whatever). CamieSeiji of course have lots of argumentative chemistry; InaCamie have a few moments indicating there’s a connectiong between them, and Seiji takes enough time to fanboy over Inasa to complete the trio. Also in keeping with the tD/BK/DK parallels, as I put in an earlier post: Camie=Deku, Seku=Kacchan and Inasa=Shoto.

#7. ERASERMICLOUD

And finally in the category of Out-of-UA parallel trios, we have EraserMicCloud, the prequel trinity. Now Erasermic do echo BKDK by being the Broody and Energetic one,with the suggested hero name; though Aizawa is more like Shoto and Kumo like Deku in personality. Not sure which one I want to parallel which, though in either case Mic is Kacchan. Anyway let’s just hope Kumo’s fate doesn’t parallel Deku or Shoto’s...

#7. TODOIIMOMO

I know many fans feel TD/II/DK, but while those three have their great trinity bit together, I think the Momo route has more to go for it. Ii/Momo of course have their status as Class Reps and clearly care for one another, and TD/IIda have tons of feels surrounding the Stain arc and their ongoing friendship, so it all combines neatly. 

#6. MIRINEJITAMA

If it wasn’t for Yuyu I’d probably proclaim this one a definitive endgame OT3. I’m not sure who parallels who in the TD/BK/DK olympics, though my best guess is Tamak=Deku, Mirio=Kacchan and Hado=Shoto, becasue Tamaki and Deku are the shy awkward serious boys with the big crush on optimistic blonde Kacchan/Mirio, and Hado/Shoto are the socially weird pretty ones who join the childhood friends to flirt heavily with both. 

#5. BKDKJR

I’m sort of grouping in my head a number of Deku and Kacchan’s potential OT3s with the ladies of Class A here (honorary mentions here are BKDKMM, BKDKMN, & BKDKTSU), though my favorite of all those would be BKDKJIROU. Obviously BakuJirou is known enough as a ship - Kacchan inspiring her and saving her and all - and I have a real soft spot for DekuJirou despite them only interacting once, but it was a great one-time interaction. Definitely more of a crackship but I love it nonetheless.

#4. MMKMJR

One of class a’s most obvious OT3s. Obviously KamiJirou is a given - argumentative and lovable, and obviously IzuKatsu, respectively. And MomoJirou too have undeniable chemistry and make a great sister ship (paralleling TDBK). And I actually have a real soft spot for KamiMomo, mostly due to the light novels where they get to hang out and pseudo flirt/inspire each other a lot. So yep, definitely a winner of an OT3.

#3. TGTSCHK

So obviously Toga/chako has been having lots of feels lately due to this recent arc; they connect so crazy there and have something interesting coming in future. Toga also said she likes Tsuyu, so both ends have Toga, and TsuChako are just getting cuter together by the day, so this one’s another winner. I again think TsuChako parallels BKDK, so I guess Toga is their Shoto. 

#2. BKDKOCHA

If Deku really must end up with Ochako, this is the option I will accept under those conditions. Kacchako has been rising on my favorite ships list (for no real reason, I just like them), so I’m definitely down with that corner. The original planned OT3 of the show! In the drafts, this trinity would have been the center of the story, a la Naruto, and probably would’ve been the OT3. But in the show we’ve got, we all know the One True OT3 is...

#1. TODOBAKUDEKU/TDBKDK

Yep, the core of the show. Big shock, it’s #1. 3 absolute slam dunk ships - BKDK the OTP, TDBK of the perfect chemistry and rom com love, and TDDK of the destined life changing inspiration. I’m not entirely sure how Shoto can work into the destined ‘win and save’ duo that is BKDK, but there’s so much affection between this OT3 - and they just click together so nicely - that I’ll bet the series is gonna work very hard to try.

what are your thoughts on the 'tdbkdk are not a good main trio/tdbkdk are forced as a main trio' criticism that's happening on twitter right now?

I have no idea - my Twitter timeline is full of Kacchan in stirrup leggings and people posting their HCs about Todoroki getting cuddles. It's magic what happens when you use block and mute buttons to create a pleasant little corner catering to your likes and say nope to the meaningless noise.

But let me guess: someone with all of 20 followers looked at the Trio ending panel in Chapter 334 and pretended to be shocked, saying it should feature Deku-Iida-Uraraka because they were Deku's "first friends" and had once taken the bus home together as their “Trio-defining scene” (seriously, I may be forgetting something, but when did these three ever do anything plot relevant as a “Trio”?)

, while totally ignoring the textbook shonen rival introduced as an antagonizing yet challenging force in Chapter 1, who is deeply ingrained into the MC's psyche.

Like, even if you argue about Todoroki's spot in the main trio, I think there can be no doubt that Bakugou was always meant to be one of Deku's main relationships.

Narratively, the deuteragonist needs to be someone who foils the main character, pushes him out of his comfort zone and challenges him. Neither Iida or Uraraka, who were Deku's "followers" from the day they met, fit that role.

So that leaves the Tritagonist, where HK could have chosen the "lead girl" to be the third member of the main group (which would have inevitably resulted in Kacchako-Izuocha to become the new Zutara - Kataang shipwar), but he made the decision very early not to.

In Chapter 10, he already brings in not Uraraka (member of Deku's winning team), but Todoroki, as Bakugou's other reason for his crisis of confidence, and the first power-ceiling to reach.

At the climax of the first battle in Ch 18, it is the three of them who come to the same conclusion and help out All Might (Kirishima is there, but he doesn't actually get a move in), setting up the whole Origin Trio concept.

And the Sport Festival cements their three-way rivalry (each stage is about the three of them ultimately, while letting other students, including Uraraka and Iida their shining moments - but the story never once implies that they'd take the lead role). We are not even 10% into the story, and it's already clear who your main characters are on the students' side.

We also get Todoroki's backstory, and I think it becomes clear why he takes the third spot in the main trio: his backstory becomes the secondary plotline, after the OFA-AFO plot, and it also ties the UA-plot to the pro-hero world through Endeavor, preparing the ground for post-Kamino.

Todoroki as Tritagonist offers his own individual plot that brings in the secondary main villain, gives a chance to explore the dark side of hero society through Endeavor, bring in characters like Hawks, etc. He also has an "S" level power, alone among the students, which means he could keep scaling with Deku for a long time.

I personally also find the each side of the TDBKDK dynamic pretty interesting and have good dramatic tension:

Obviously, BKDK is childhood friends turned enemies turned fated rivals turned friends. Their relationship is turbulent but they are very strongly ingrained into each other's psyche, and provide great foiling on win and save aspects of heroism. They complement each other and model the qualities the other is missing. Bakugou also pulls his "squad" closer to the main plot.

TDDK provide great parallels, carrying difficult legacies, filling in similar roles in their individual plotlines. They also grow into a supportive friendship from the rocky start of their relationship, which in itself is not a big deal, as everyone is Deku's friend, but it affects the plot meaningfully both ways. It kickstarts the Todo-family healing arc, and it brings Deku to the top of the pro-hero world after All Might's retirement.

Last, but not least, TDBK is a great fun dynamic on its own right that has its own development path (people forget that Todoroki is introduced commenting on Bakugou!!), its ups and downs as it slowly grows into a real, bratty friendship.

If you compare this to the Deku-Iida-Uraraka trio, there is hardly any tension or excitement. It's just a friend-friend-friend dynamic all around. A bit too vanilla for my taste.

I think people also tend to forget that it's not Bakugou's and Todoroki's fault if their faves didn't get development. In terms of panel-time, Uraraka gets as much exposure as TDBK, but simply, her arc is just not as compelling.

Also, in every arc, other students got chances to shine too:

USJ: Froppy, Mineta, Iida, Uraraka, Kirishima, Momo, Kaminari, Jirou all get important roles

Sport Festival: Iida, Uraraka, Tokoyami, Kirishima, Hatsume, Shinsou

Stain arc: Iida

Midterms: Yaoyorozou

Forest: everyone, even Kendou and Tetsu got a fight

Kamino: Iida, Kirishima, Momo

Provisional Licensing: Kaminari, Momo, Uraraka, Iida

Overhaul: (TDBK totally benched for 50 chapters!!! - and even then, Uraraka doesn't get the secondary role - HK brings in Mirio, and gives more content to Kirishima than to Ochako - so it's not a TDBK issue - it's the author doesn't know what to do with Ochako issue)

Remedial arc: oh, wait 5 chapters of TDBK and remedial squad. We waited over 160 chapters for the two of them to have their own arc, and they don't even get a villain fight

Culture Festival: Jirou

Pro-hero arc: students only react

JTA: Shinsou, Uraraka, Froppy, Momo, Kaminari, a bunch of Class B students

Endeavor arc: oh, no, did we have to wait 240 chapters to get a 10-chapter arc that focuses on the main trio only? Yes, we did.

War Arc: Tokoyami, Kaminari, Momo, Uraraka

But also, I think just because we had an Origin Trio panel at the end of Chapter 334, it doesn't mean that nobody else will get to shine in the endgame.

The set-up for the final arc looks very much like a large-scale USJ style of fight, where thanks to the UA defence system, the battle can be scattered into smaller, localized fights, with the potential of giving everyone meaningful fights that fit their power-level.

So in the end, it's such a silly debate to have. We are in the last 10% or so of the story. It's a bit late to argue about who your protagonists are or pretend that the Origin Trio started to exist with the Endeavor arc. 

And having this discourse again, just means that people don't have much else to talk about (because Star vs Shiggy was a total snoozefest).
