Six Sentence Sunday
Rules: Post 6 sentences of an unfinished work and tag 6 people.
Thank you so much for the tag @starryeyedjanai! 💛🖤
“Oh. Right, yeah. That's the uh…” Steve scratched the pencil over Eddie's side burn, the twist of his mouth sheepish, almost embarrassed, “the dyslex–something?” “Dyslexia?” Nancy asked. Steve snapped his fingers at her in confirmation. “Thank you, that's it!” Brow furrowed, Nancy turned to Eddie. “You never told me about that.” “I guess it…kinda never came up?” Eddie offered uncertainly, meeting Steve's eyes. Steve nodded curtly in confirmation, though he ducked his head immediately afterwards, suddenly “absorbed” in Eddie's worksheet.

🌟 Eddie's NSFW Alphabet 🌟
CW: Sex, just sex talk
A = Aftercare (what they’re like after sex)
He's...not too experienced on soft loving care after sex (especially since he's never actually went all the way before)
Expect an arm wrapped around you, hand playing with your hair, twirling a strand with his fingers. If in a relationship, he's laying your head on his chest, holding you close. If there's anything you need, he'll get for you.
B = Body part (their favorite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
His: He really doesn't have a favorite, but I suppose he likes just his physique in general. Not too lanky, but not too buff, balance is nice to him.
Yours: Waist. Whether it has some chub to it or it's petite, there's just something that draws his attention to it. It's so unoccupied, he just can't help but imagine his arms around them. (He could also say the same about your neck with his hands)
But if you cover it with baggy shirts, his second favorite would be your lips. Look's bitable (almost like the rest of you)
C = Cum (anything to do with cum, basically)
Think and salty, not to mention there's a lot of it when he cums. He doesn't partake in sexual activates that much besides jerking off once in a while, so he's loaded.
D = Dirty secret (pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
Probably has masturbated once or twice while working his nightshift (helps that it's not usually busy).
E = Experience (how experienced are they? do they know what they’re doing?)
Not that experienced in penetration, but is experienced in foreplay. His best talent is oral. Eddie has some sense on what he's doing and despite not being extremely experienced, it'd not rocket science to him.
F = Favorite position (this goes without saying)
Cowgirl (not him riding lmao </3), having his s/o against the wall from behind, missionary but with s/o's legs above his shoulders.
G = Goofy (are they more serious in the moment? are they humorous? etc.)
Serious. If you are in a relationship with him, you will catch some sort of soft side to him if you're lucky. But all in all he takes sex serious as it's not something he takes lightly.
H = Hair (how well groomed are they? does the carpet match the drapes? etc.)
He tries to be well groomed so he ranges from well trimmed to a bit bushy. Eddie's carpets do match btw.
I = Intimacy (how are they during the moment? the romantic aspect)
Really depends whether he's hate fucking you or not. The hate fucking is self explanatory, but other than that he can be intimate, especially if you ask him to. If in any way you're uncomfortable or hurting, he'll stop to make sure you're ok.
J = Jack off (masturbation headcanon)
Doesn't jack off often, although it might be a good solution considering all that stress building up from his busy schedule. He prefers to jack off at night though before bed when he does, since it helps him sleep.
K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)
L = Location (favorite places to do the do)
Alleyways, bedroom, clubs
M = Motivation (what turns them on, gets them going)
Jealousy, sensual massages (I felt like I had to specify, it has to be a massage with an intent to turn him on <3), body kisses, sexting (Diva also likes sexting forgot to add).
N = No (something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
Threesomes/foursomes/orgies and noncon, dd/lg (it makes him feel weird and not the good kind)
O = Oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc.)
Prefers receiving but doesn't mind giving. He's good with his mouth, and the piercings on his lips make it a little more cold to the touch when he's going down on you.
P = Pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.)
Rough but the paces vary. If he's tired, his thrusting is a lot sloppier and quicker, but he'll still keep in mind to hit all the right places.
Q = Quickie (their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.)
Doesn't mind them, and probably fits best with how little free time he has. Is perfectly down to meeting in the storage/break room of his work for one. But he wouldn't really want them often, he prefers taking his time.
R = Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.)
Down to experiment just not on a lot of things. But the more he opens up to you and is more comfortable, the more willing to try.
S = Stamina (how many rounds can they go for? how long do they last?)
Can go up to around 3 rounds, but if you work him up maybe 5.
T = Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)
No he doesn't own any toys but Eddie wouldn't mind using some on you.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
Isn't much of a teaser, BUT he really likes edging so look out for that.
He wants to hear you cry and beg to cum, the feeling of your body against his quivering for release.
V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.)
Quiet to be honest. You'll hear a few grunts and huffs, maybe a few husky whispers in your ear. If you really wanna hear him whine though, his body is sensitive.
W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character)
Has thought about car sex, really has. The thought of his s/o in his backseat or on the trunk of his car bent over or spread open for him.
X = X-ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes)
7.5 inches and has a slight girth, he's mostly just length. The tip is slight reddish pink color and the shaft is just a little bit lighter than his usual skin tone. He's also rather veiny, just a bit. He has star tattoos on both shoulders, as well as a sparkle underneath his cleavage and sparkles down his back.
His nipples are a faint pink.
Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?)
Not very high, but there are times where he's feeling like he's an animal in mating season.
Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
Eddie tends to fall asleep fast, or just get tired quickly easily, so he prefers to have sex around night time since he has a better excuse to fall asleep. Wouldn't mind the morning sex though.

Truth or Dare- Eddie Munson (1)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Reader
Characters: Eddie Munson
Warnings: N/A
Request: N/A
Word Count: 712
Author: Charlotte
You tried your best to not spend too much time with the Hellfire club outside of the actual club. You cared for them all deeply, but they were all knobheads and you had to spend time with them in moderation or you’d lose your mind. For years prior to Hellfire even being a thing, you had been friends with Eddie, so when he focused a lot of his time on his D&D club, you joined. Maybe if you weren’t completely in love with him throughout your whole friendship, you wouldn’t have been stuck with the group of losers playing a game you didn’t care nearly as much about than he did.
They met up somewhat often outside of their normal club meetings, but you made excuses to get out of them, but this weekend you didn’t have one. You were stuck sat on the floor of Gareth’s living room whilst the boys that you deemed on the cusp of graduation and adulthood, giggled like little children, influenced terribly by the newest freshmen members of the group.
“Really?” You sighed. “Truth or dare, aren’t we a little beyond that?”
“It could be fun,” Jeff shrugged.
“Think of the revenge you could get on these losers,” Eddie grinned. “All you’ve done is complain about them for years, now is your chance to make them regret annoying you.”
You let out a dramatic sigh, leaning back onto your hands to support yourself.
“Fine, but if this is just some sick joke for you bastards to be perverts, I will not hesitate to kick you in the balls,” you frowned.
The freshmen winced, having learnt quickly that you weren’t to be messed with and the only one of the group that ever got away with anything was Eddie.
They started taking turns forcing each other to tell them something embarrassing or do something stupid and it only made you dread when it would become your turn.
“Y/N,” Dustin grinned. “Truth or dare?”
You didn’t know which would be worse. You knew either way they were going to humiliate you and would quickly regret it when you got to return the favour. Not wanting to end up having to reveal anything intimate about yourself, you decided to pick dare.
Dustin leaned into his fellow freshmen, whispering and laughing as they tried to pick your fate.
“Kiss Eddie.”
It felt as though your heart had leaped up into your throat. You had liked Eddie since you first met, not that you would ever tell him that. You valued your friendship too much to ruin it and knew that if he didn’t return the feeling, he was far too cocky to ever have that information.
“What?” You said in almost a squeak.
“Kiss Eddie,” he repeated.
You glanced over to the dungeon master to see his reaction. He tried to seem confident in his smile, but you knew him too well to not notice the underlying nerves.
“Is that really fair to him?” You asked. “It’s my dare not his.”
“Do you have a problem with kissing him?” Gareth smirked, having been more than aware of you liking your mutual friend, although you vehemently denied it anytime he implied knowing.
“Just his breath,” you huffed, pushing yourself up onto your knees to manoeuvre over to Eddie.
You moved over to him, kneeling in front of him, ready for a moment that you had dreamt of, although you never thought you’d have such a crowd when you finally got to kiss him. You looked down at his soft smile that instantly melted any nerves you held onto.
There was no time like the present. You leaned in pressing your lips to his. His lips were soft but chapped as they parted to move against yours. Your heart pounded against your chest as you rested a hand onto his shoulder to steady yourself. When you moved back to end the kiss, he leaned into your, extending the kiss by a second.
Your eyes stayed locked to his as you parted, not caring about the comments or laughter your friends made. Finally, you got to kiss the man you had been in love with for years and even if you never got to again, you were glad to have experienced it once.

While I've seen plenty of criticisms of Outlast for ableism/stigmatizing mental illness (because your enemies are murder-happy asylum inmates), I honestly beg to differ—at least for the most part. For one thing, only a handful of inmates actually attack you. Most of the other patients there are either in shock or just trying to lay low and stay alive through all the chaos going on around them. Even the more proactive of the non-combatant characters, such as the pyro you encounter in the kitchen, are just trying to get out—and their desperation is made to be pretty relatable. Even the boss characters like Chris Walker and Eddie Gluskin were victims of the asylum. For crying out loud, the Whistleblower DLC opens with Eddie getting dragged into the morphogenic engine kicking and screaming and begging for help—it's what solidifies Waylon Park's determination to take down Murkoff. Even when you find Eddie's files later on and see that, yes, he was already a murderer before he wound up in Mount Massive, that also comes with notes about the sexual abuse he experienced as a child and his denial of it. It doesn't excuse his actions—of course it doesn't—but it shows that he didn't become the way he is from nothing. Furthermore, the entire Mount Massive arc focuses so heavily on the theme of abuse of power. The patients are enduring horrific experimentation at the hands of people like Blair and Trager, and that is what sets up the rest of the story. The people running the show are the catalysts for all hell breaking loose—not the patients, who are instead victims of a system that is exploiting them by pushing them past their mental and physical limits, and has no qualms about treating them as replaceable test subjects. They are already sick people thrust into terrifying circumstances. Some of them were already dangerous to begin with, but most of them were not. They were all in a place that was supposed to help them cope with their conditions and rehabilitate, but instead were exploited and had their issues exacerbated by being traumatized further, and that's part of what makes Outlast terrifying.  So yeah, the portrayal of mentally ill people in Outlast isn't phenomenal, sure, but it goes beyond making all the patients out to be horrible monsters. Most of them are just trying to stay out of all the awful shit going on and stay alive without completely breaking down. The games still makes you feel for those people after you see how desperate and terrified a lot of them are, due mainly because of the abuses they have suffered from the people who were supposed to help them.
Anon this is so fascinating cause I agree with you sm. I think all of this stuff is true. From the way I see it Outlast is an attempt to subvert all the other mental asylum horror stories. Which I think adds all this complexity you're talking about. But while I do think it's more nuanced and better written than contemporaries, I don't think they did a good enough job. The "evil asylum" trope is inherently ableist, and stigmatizing. And I do agree the main source of long term horror in the series is from the incredible abuse the patients suffer- it cannot be ignored that the majority of scary moments aren't from the abuse, but from the patients acting violent and "crazy". And yeah it makes sense why they're violent and "crazy" that doesn't change the fact that the average joe schmoe is gonna go through the game and take away the message that mentally ill people are violent, and scary, and mental health facilities are bad and scary. Which- as someone who's been to a psych ward- I find to be a very bad message. They have their issues but stigmatizing them makes it worse. I think Red Barrels realized this, and for the Whistleblower made more of an effort to emphasize the abuse as a front line horror. Jeremy Blaire, the Walrider, The Morphogenic Engine, etc etc. Although the complaints I have still stand. Overall I agree with you that Outlast is a nuanced portrayal of this trope. That point about how not all of the patients are violent, is one of my favorite parts of Outlast. How they're still humans. And that creates some really great moments, like Someones Playing Piano. But as I've said before I still think it's inadequate I really want people to realize that Outlast being a story about systemic abuse where innocent people are victimized, and Outlast relies on ableism to get it's scares- are two statements that can coexist. I think at this point I should just write a paper about outlast

🌿 how does creating make you feel?
oh god. well honestly i feel like it depends very strongly on what exactly it IS that i’m creating… sometimes when i’m writing a character study or an intimate moment i feel intensely vulnerable and open, which is of course both terrifying and extremely cathartic… and then sometimes when i am writing humorous scenes or Cursed Concepts i feel so evil and wicked and pleased with myself the whole time. so which emotions i'm experiencing while i’m actually in the moment of creation can really be all over the map… but of course i can say that once i’ve actually finished creating something i always feel proud of myself! even at times when the piece didn’t come together as well as i was hoping it would in the end, there’s definitely something to be said just for that pure “oh i made a WHOLE NEW THING” sense of satisfaction :)
💝 what is a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?
i’ll be honest, i really thought that Do my friends think I’m dying? (or do I just need to go to sleep?) would get about 20 hits total… i mean, it’s a recursive fanfic (inspired by the excellent good old fashioned lover boy) about an extremely minor ted lasso character with an unintelligible summary and the tags “yes I’ve written a reddit thread as a fic” “sorry except i’m not”; i was really just writing it to have a good time (and oh my god, did i have the BEST time…). but the response to it was actually quite warm, and MUCH larger than i was expecting! and not to brag lmao but i got Many compliments in the comments section about how convincing my various insufferable reddit personalities were… i guess i’ve found my calling! i’ve been meaning to write another reddit fic ever since, actually—it really was a blast
💥 find your least kudos'd fic - say something wonderful about it.
least kudos’d by raw numbers would be my most recent one, Philosophical Shifts in Teixcalaanli Xenocontact! (although i wouldn’t necessarily call it my least warmly received—the kudos-to-hits ratio on that one is actually fairly good, it’s just a very new fic for a very small fandom! but i didn’t go through and calculate K:H ratios on everything, so i’ll just talk about this one.) i think that with this fic i really nailed the voice of the narrator, three seagrass—from her speech patterns to the way she thinks about the world; her love for poetry to her partially-worked-through tendency to exoticize the foreign and the new to the detriment of everyone involved. she was a lot of fun to write and i’d love to try my hand at her again soon!
💌 share something with us about an up-and-coming work (WIP) that has you excited!
agh okay i’m always the WORST person in the world to talk to about wips because i will happily spin you elaborate tales about all the Concepts i’m currently working on and then you will just never hear about them again… but here’s a snippet from something for stranger things that I’ve been tinkering with off and on for AGES and really do hope to get finished… sometime in the next few years… i’m calling it “things that we were working on,” and em, this one goes right out to you: you know exactly what you did. <3
“Hold the phone,” Eddie interrupts, earning himself a glare and yet another eyebrow twitch, but he doesn’t even care to savor the rise he’s getting out of Higgins this time, because he is actually, genuinely desperate for an answer to the question he’s about to ask. “You’re telling me Steve Harrington is gonna be here? In detention?” This day really is just shaping up to be something else, isn’t it. Steve Harrington in detention? Hell had better not have frozen over yet; Eddie hates the fucking cold. “What’d he do?”
Or, probably more accurately: what’d he do that they didn’t let him just get away with this time?

the type you bring home to mom ~ eddie kaspbrak;it chapter two
word count: 2361
request?: no
description: in which he finally brings his girlfriend home to his over protective mother, and it goes exactly as he thought it would
pairing: teen!eddie kasprak x female!reader
warnings: swearing, overbearing mother, derogatory name calling (i guess?), basically eddie’s mom just sucking
masterlist (one, two)
note: (y/n/p) = your parents’ names
Tumblr media
I played with the hem of my dress as I walked up to the Kaspbrak household. I was regretting my choice in wardrobe, but it was too late to change now. I knew nothing would feel right anyways, I had already changed three times before I came over.
For the first time in our year long relationship, I was meeting Eddie’s mother. We had somehow managed to keep our relationship a secret for so long that I never felt like I had to meet her, and Eddie wasn’t exactly pushing for it either. As much as he loved his mom, he also knew she was manipulative and overbearing, and he often told me how he was afraid of his mom scaring me off because of these facts.
When the news eventually got out and travelled quickly through the small town of Derry, as gossip usually does, it got to Ms. Kaspbrak in no time. She immediately demanded to meet me, and Eddie set up a dinner at his house for the occasion.
Before I could even knock on the door, it swung open to reveal my tall boyfriend smiling down at me. Any tension I had melted away as I looked up at him, into those beautiful eyes that could calm me down whenever they were on me. He took my face in his hands and pulled me to kiss him. It was such a normal action that, at first, I leaned into it happily, until I realized the circumstances of my visit and quickly pushed him away.
“She’s not here,” he said, as if reading my worried thoughts. “She’s gone out to get some stuff for dinner.”
He stepped aside to let me step into the house. It wasn’t unfamiliar territory; Eddie and I had had many rendezvous there during the rare moments when his mom wasn’t home, but it felt wrong to be there on this occasion. I just wanted it to end already, and to go home or go for a long drive with Eddie.
“Come, sit,” he said, leading me to his living room. We sat close to one another on the couch, so close that we were just barley touching. Feeling his arm brush against mine sent sparks through me.
“How worried should I be?” I asked him, trying to remain as light as possible.
He sighed and shuffled in his seat. “I wish I could tell you not at all, but...”
He trailed off so I finished his sentence for him, “But it’s your mom.”
Eddie nodded. “But it’s my mom.”
One of his arms was around my waist. I hadn’t realized that the skirt of my dress had hiked up a little until the hand around my waist started to play with the hem, his fingertips brushing against my ass. His other hand touched my leg, starting lightly on my knee and then slowly travelling up my thigh till it stopped on my inner thigh. I shivered, wanting him to go further.
Most people who knew him would never believe that Eddie Kaspbrak, the hypochondriac, fast talking, former sheltered mama’s boy, would be absolutely mind blowing in bed, and constantly handsy whenever we were alone. I hadn’t even believed it until we got together, but man, Eddie knew how to make me feel absolutely amazing.
He leaned forward to kiss my neck, his fingers tracing circles in my inner thigh. I was shivering with anticipation and whimpers were escaping my lips. I could feel Eddie’s amused smirk against my neck as he placed another kiss there and lifted his head to look at me. He kissed my lips and his hand finally made its way further up my skirt.
Our moment was interrupted by the sound of a car door slamming. I practically jumped to the other side of the couch, touching my neck in hopes that he hadn’t accidentally left hickies there.
“You’re good,” he said, understanding what I had been doing.
The front door opened and I suddenly felt paralyzed. I wasn’t sure if I should stand up or stay sat down, if I should move even further away from Eddie or stay exactly where I was. In the end, I stayed frozen like a deer in headlights as his mom rounded the corner, arms full of grocery bags.
“Oh,” she said when her eyes landed on me. “Is this...her?”
There was a slight leer to the way she said “her”, which made me want to squirm under her intense gaze.
“Mom,” Eddie said, a partial warning tone in his voice, “this is (Y/N), my girlfriend.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Ms. Kaspbrak,” I said. “Do you, um, need any help with - ”
“No,” she cut me off. “I have it. You’re early.”
“I told her this is when to get here,” Eddie defended. “You wouldn’t tell me exactly when to invite her over.”
“Well, this is hardly dinner time,” his mother huffed. “It’ll take me a while to get dinner ready.”
“I can help,” I offered again.
“No,” she said, sharply, which told me that was the end of the matter.
I shrunk down in my spot on the couch.
“Mom,” Eddie snapped again.
She glared at me before turning to her son, trying to soften her expression for him. “I’ll let you know when the food is ready. For now...stay here.”
When she disappeared into the kitchen, Eddie immediately moved to sit next to me and took my hand in his.
“I’m okay,” I assured him. “I’ll get through it. It’s just dinner then we’re done, right?”
He nodded, but I could see the worry on his face still.
A while later, Ms. Kaspbrak called to tell us dinner was ready. She had made sure to place everything so that Eddie and I were sat at the heads of the table, far apart from one another, while she was sat between us. Eddie and I shared a look before sitting in our designated spots.
Dinner started with awkward silence besides our cutlery against the plates. I tried to keep my attention on my plate, but every so often I’d glance up at the Kaspbraks to see Eddie nervously glancing between me and his mother, and his mom just glaring daggers at me. The nervousness I was feeling took away my appetite, but I felt like I had to eat everything to make a good impression, if that was even possible.
“So,” Ms. Kaspbrak said, drawing our attention to her, “(Y/N). Your parents are (Y/P/N), right?”
She already knew the answer to this question. I had grown up in Derry, where everyone knew everyone. There was a reason she was asking, and I had a feeling I already knew what that reason was.
“They are, yeah,” I responded.
“And they’re divorced, aren’t they?”
“Mom!” Eddie groaned.
“It’s just a question, Eddie,” his mom said.
“It’s okay,” I said with a shrug. “I don’t mind talking about it. That’s kind of old news anyways. They divorced when I was 10, dad moved to the next town over and mom got full custody of me.”
“That doesn’t seem like a very stable upbringing,” Ms. Kaspbrak commented. “I’m sure it’s taken such a toll on you, you must’ve decided to rebel somehow.”
Eddie put his face in his hands, officially admitting defeat on trying to stop his mother.
“Actually it wasn’t anything like that,” I said. “Mom and dad stayed pretty civil. There wasn’t any big fight or anything, just an agreement that they’re better off not being married. When dad moved he made sure to stay in constant contact, and comes to visit all the time or I’d go to visit him. Mom always made sure I had a roof over my head and food on the table. They both love me unconditionally, even if they’re not together.”
Ms. Kaspbrak sat back in her seat, a sour look on her face. “Well...regardless, it’s just not right to be raised by a single mother.”
Feeling a bit brave, I raised an eyebrow at her. “Eddie was raised by a single mother.”
“That’s different. My husband died, he didn’t decide to abandon me and Eddie.”
“My dad didn’t abandon us, he’s still very much a part of our lives.”
She ignored me and continued to eat. I looked across the table at Eddie to see him avoiding all eye contact with either of us as he pushed his food around on his plate. As if feeling my gaze, he looked up at me. I gave him a small smile to try and indicate that I wasn’t upset with him. I wanted him to know everything was going to be okay, even if I didn’t fully believe it myself.
“How many boys have you had sex with, (Y/N)?”
The question caught me off guard and I nearly choked on the food I had just put in my mouth.
“Jesus Christ, mom!” Eddie snapped.
“Don’t take the Lord’s name in vein, Edward,” his mother chastised him.
“You can’t just ask something like that, mom, that’s none of your business.”
“Of course it’s my business. I need to make sure my son isn’t dating a slut. I remember you were friends with Beverly March before she moved away, and trust me, I heard all sorts of stories about her. Anyone who would hang around with her must be somewhat similar.”
The mention of the untrue bullshit that used to be spread about Bev made the anger within me bubble over. I was seeing red as I looked up at Ms. Kaspbrak, and I was ready to pounce.
“Actually, your son took my virginity, and I took his,” I told her. “And we have sex quite a lot, sometimes upstairs in his bedroom when you’re not home. Although, for someone who says he was a virgin I don’t know how much I believe it. Eddie has done things that I don’t even think the most experienced of people could do.”
If he was upset with me for saying all of this, Eddie’s face didn’t show it. He was sipping on his water, trying to hide the smug smile that broke out across his face.
Ms. Kaspbrak’s face turned blood red before she rose from the table. “Get the fuck out of my house!”
“Gladly,” I said, abandoning my dinner to quickly leave the shitty situation.
“And don’t you dare come anywhere near my son again, or else I will have the cops on you!” she threatened.
I stopped and turned back to face her. “For what? For dating your son? For showing him that there’s someone who actually cares about him without manipulating him? For finally cutting the cord that you’ve had wrapped around his neck since he was born? Ms. Kaspbrak, I understand that you’re afraid to lose your son the way you lost your husband, but being a manipulative bitch who forced him to think he had illnesses he didn’t have for years and insulting his girlfriend in front of him is not the way to keep him around. Eddie is 18 years old, he’s an adult. He can do whatever he wants, which includes dating whoever he wants and leaving this hell hole that you have the audacity to call a home. The day that you finally accept that just might be the day that Eddie finally considers you to be an actual mother.”
And with that, I decided not to overstay my welcome and left.
I was only a few feet away from Eddie’s house when I heard him calling after me. I slowed my pace just enough that he could catch up with me, but didn’t completely stop. I wanted to put as much distance between myself and the Kaspbrak house as I could.
“I’m sorry,” I sighed as he fell in step next to me.
“For what?” Eddie asked. “I should be the one apologizing to you.”
“You warned me on how she would be, and I still let her get to me,” I said. “I probably made having to live there a whole lot harder.”
“It was hard to begin with, (Y/N). Nothing could make it harder than what it was,” he told me. “What you said, it was all true. Mom needed to hear that. Doesn’t mean she liked hearing it, or that she’ll actually accept it, but she needed to hear it none the less.”
“I guess I could’ve said it nicer,” I said. “Or at least not included details of our sex life.”
Eddie awkwardly chuckled. “Yeah, could’ve done without mom knowing I’m a sex god.”
I gave him a look and playfully nudged him. “I never said you were a sex god.”
“Eddie has done things that I don’t even think the most experienced of people could do I believe were your exact words.”
“I only said that to make her more upset.”
“So you’re saying I’m bad at sex?”
I pushed him again. “Eddie!”
He laughed and put an arm around my waist. “I appreciate the compliment either way. And I hope you know how much I love you.”
I smiled up at him and leaned into his touch. “I love you, too.”
We walked in silence for a while and, before I knew it, we were at my house. We stopped and turned to face each other.
“Want to stay over tonight?” I asked. “I figure going home isn’t exactly the best option right now.”
“It’s not,” he agreed. “Will your mom be okay with it?”
“Of course she will, she loves you. She’ll probably even cover for you if your mom calls.”
“I take it back, I don’t love you. I love your mom.”
“And I take back my offer. Go sleep on the streets.”
I took off for my front door with Eddie hot on my trail. I tried to open it and lock him out before he caught up to me, but of course his long legs gave him an advantage. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me away from the door, both of our laughs ringing out through the otherwise quiet neighborhood.

Back in 5x09 Buck went to Oklahoma to offer TK support after her dad’s parole hearing. Do you think there might be some sort of parallel with Eddie? Like, Buck initially stays in LA with Christopher but then decides to fly out to Texas himself to support Eddie?
Hey Nonnie
Buck did indeed fly out to Oklahoma to support Taylor but Buck flying out to Texas to support Eddie won't be the parallel. I wrote about Buck wearing the same shirt yesterday and how it plays into Buck and Taylors conversation upon their return and that is the parallel to the Taylor and Oklahoma of it all.
Also Eddie doesn't need Buck to fly to Texas to support him - Buck is doing it already - by looking after Christopher because that is what is truly the most important thing - ensuring that Chris is spared the potential ugliness that is likely to unfold in Texas, but also giving Eddie the space and time to have those much needed conversations with his parents without having to worry about Christopher in any way - he is safe and loved and where he needs to be - in LA with Buck - the things Eddie is fighting for.
The parallel we are more likely to see is with season 1 where they planted the glass door seeds in the pilot, played into it with Abby leaving at the end of season 1 and then they're bringing in back into play and it will be a moment of Buck coming full circle. Because it's all about the doors. Buck didn't go into the airport with Abby because he couldn't 'I learned a while ago - you never go beyond the glass doors' and then followed up that statement with 'you're not leaving anything behind, you're moving towards something and I'm going to be right here when you come back.'
Those lines held so much weight for Buck going from S1 in to S2 and onwards - that is why the glass doors were invoked at the end of 5x14 'before you joined the 118 we had this rule - you don't go past the glass doors' and then there was this line which is loaded with so much double meaning 'Our job was always just to save the person in front of us whatever happens next. Well, we aren't supposed to know.' that line is as much about the job as it is about what Buck experienced with Abby - he saved the person (Abby) in front of him, didn't go through the doors and then spent the first half of season 2 (and actually up to the end of season 3) wondering what happened but not getting to know - its part of why 3x18 is titled 'What's next?' because Buck gets to learn what happened next and he learns from that that actually, he can go through the glass doors and he does have a right to know 'what's next'. Then the next time happens and we know he crossed those glass doors though - for Eddie - we see him coming out of the glass doors at the hospital in the aftermath and then passing through another one into Eddie room when Eddie wakes up - he gets to know what happened - he is still part of the story and continues to know what's next.
So the most likely thing we'll see is Buck taking Eddie to the airport (although we might not get any of Eddie going through the process of going to Texas - they might just have him explain to Chris (& Buck) that he's going then show him there!) and going with him as far as he can - passing through those glass doors but then going back home, knowing he's going to get to know what's next. The what next being Eddie moving towards something and Buck being right there when he gets back - its the most satisfying thing for all concerned. Eddie gets to move forward, to get closure/ reconciliation etc and return to what he cherishes and what gives him strength so he can keep moving forward. And Buck, well he gets the full circle of getting to go go beyond the glass doors and not being left behind - because Eddie will come back and Buck get to do what he didn't with Abby and be there waiting for him.
We'll get to see that moment when they reunite - because its important for both of their stories and leads perfectly into starting over - honestly is just incredible storytelling - its so well crafted - and to pull back to the start of Bucks journey both as a firefighter and as an individual looking for love and family - 👩🏻‍🍳💋

It’s that time again - time for a new film featuring our favorite freckly man! And that means it’s also time for another fan interview! This was my fourth time speaking to Eddie, & it still never fails to surprise me how kind he is & how much he actually seems to enjoy speaking to us. He has called us (the fan bloggers) his “safe place” in the past, & that seems to still be true. Arranged for us by the ever amazing Charlotte (of @bespokeredmayne) & Eddie’s awesome publicist, Carrie, our interviews are a fantastic opportunity to support Eddie & get his thoughts on his acting. There were five of us speaking to him on zoom this time around – myself, Charlotte, Ivonne (@eddieronline), Ali (eddieredmayne.net), & Erina (@amazingeddieredmayne) , & we were all thrilled to speak to him about The Secrets of Dumbledore & Cabaret.
Tumblr media
I have to admit, one of the things I  was most excited about from the trailer was seeing Jacob being presented with a wand, so I had to ask Eddie’s thoughts about that:
Marci: I really love the relationship between Jacob and Newt — the chemistry plays so well together. How does Jacob receiving a wand and experiencing what it’s like to have magical powers impact that relationship in this film and potentially in the future?
Eddie: I have no idea, Marci. It’s interesting, because in some ways I’ve loved the new relationships that have developed in these movies, and I adore Jessica Williams, who brings such a new vibrancy to the films. But I also have a sense of sadness that on the first movie it was Katherine and Dan and Ali and I, and we got to interact a lot. And what’s strange about the movies now is that I sort of barely get to see any of those guys. Even though, when Jacob arrives on the train and Newt sort of — it wasn’t in the script, but I instantly wanted to give him a hug, because that’s uncomfortable for Newt, but at the same point, there is such love there between those two characters, and it’s sort of instinctive, and even though Newt isn’t particularly comfortable with physical interaction, there’s such joy there. Dan is a true improvisational genius, and across all of these films, some of the funniest moments have been his improvisations on set that end up in the movies. It’s a real delight to watch. Everything is 100 percent real coming out of his mouth, and I think when they saw in the first movie that Dan had that extraordinary facility, they sort of — certainly in this movie, less of course in Grindelwald — but they realized that allowing him to riff is part of the joy. So it’s such fun getting to work with him.
Tumblr media
Marci: What for you was the most challenging part of making this film and what part did you enjoy the most?
Eddie: I suppose COVID was the most challenging thing. So I did a day of pre-shooting on a Friday, and it was a moment down in Newt’s case that actually was cut from the film, and while I was meant to start shooting proper on a Monday, I got a call on Sunday night saying, ‘This thing called COVID is causing us to stop.’ And it was four months or so until we started again. And the world had sort of changed, and coming back to the film set — first, we felt so lucky to be going back to work; I also felt complicated because Hannah was at home having to look after the little ones. I’d been helping to homeschool Iris, and suddenly I was allowed to go back to work and my life — although the process was completely different, as far as protocols and all the specifics of a COVID film set — I was able to go back to work. Whereas most of the world, and for Hannah, it was still having to look after two very young children. As far as the making of the film itself, they’re such big things. It’s really in David and Jo and Steve’s imagination, and we just come and deliver what we can and bring as much joy and life and vibrancy to it.  I really enjoyed the silly dancing bit. It’s not often that, as you guys know, I get into something that’s comedic — so it’s fun. There’s a kind of physical comedy element to it that I really enjoy.
Tumblr media
** You can check out the rest of our interview in Charlotte’s post here. **
Along with getting to speak to Eddie, Warner Brothers was amazing enough to provide us each with a screener copy so we could see the film & I have to tell you – this one lives up to the hype! We get to meet some interesting new creatures as well as seeing more of Jacob in the magical world with Newt, & there are some major jaw-drop moments that I still cannot get over & I know everyone is gonna be talking about over the next few days! Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is in theatres starting tomorrow!!

Actually, here is an alternative thing for you to occupy your time with, and a question I have been meaning to ask you for a while. I have finished 911 finally! So I'm ready for the new season. And I wonder, realistically, what do you think the roadmap would be for a buddie endgame?
I absolutely see how their story has been framed and filmed in a lot of parallels to how a romantic storyline would be set out. But there has been no outright mention of either of them being bi - although the conversation about Maddy setting Buck up with whassisface was very casual and could very easily have been an example of canonically bi Buck - and they are both at the end of season 4 in 'relationships' with women.
So, in your estimation, what's the timeline? What's the transition? How do they go about this and how long does it take? I wanna know your thoughts 👀
okay yes i have lots of thoughts on this and it's actually one of my fave questions i get asked. I've always watched a lot of tv shows so I'm just estimating on what I've seen before and what I would personally do. IMO this love story is a slow burn. We only have four seasons so far and only three of those seasons have Eddie in them. This unsurprisingly got long so ill put it under the cut.
So I'll go by seasons bc to me its important to look at everything that has happened so far by seasons and by love interests and not as a whole. Its the best way i can form a timeline that I think would make the most sense and why
S1: So we don't get any hints at Buck being anything other than straight and I think this is because he was supposed to be. They hadn't planned for Eddie yet and they definitely hadn't planned for the chemistry Oliver and Ryan were gonna have. S1 Buck was this reckless kid who didn't take anything serious. He was definitely super immature. Then he meets Abby and he starts to get serious about his job and his love life. I'm not gonna say "Abby changed him" because she didnt. He saw the person he was and the person he was becoming and decided on that change himself.
S2: Eddie!!!! So we get introduced to this army medic turned firefighter in the least heterosexual way. Then Buck is angry because Eddie is hot and really good at his job. they work together and Eddie compliments Buck and now they're smiley bffs. Seriously wtf was all that? Anyway this is all sus bc from what ive seen before in other shows when a main love interest leaves and a new main character replaces them, that means something. JLH replaced Connie Britton as far as big name actress but i really believe Eddie replaced Abby as far as importance in Buck's life. Do i think they brought him in with the intentions of turning him into a LI? No but they sure fueled the narrative from the get go. I think they saw fans reactions and started testing the waters.
Moving on to LIs in this season. We find out Eddie has a kid and the mother is not in the picture (eddie made sure buck knew that right away). Then later on we find out he's technically still married. shannon comes back and we get Eddie finally getting to confront this head on. He tries to get his family back together for the sake of his son. Its big for Eddie's character bc all he does and all he's ever done is for his son. Then Shannon asks for a divorce then she dies bringing this arc to an abrupt end and leaving eddie heartbroken.
meanwhile Buck is still waiting for Abby. Then he finally accepts that shes not coming back and decides to move on. He goes right back to being "Buck 1.0" with Taylor and feels bad about himself because that really isnt him anymore. He wants a real relationship. So then Ali calls and asks him on an actual date and he agrees. This is his first try at a relationship after a heartbreak. in tv these don't usually work out but are used to develop the main character's growth. We don't really see much of her but she breaks up with him so.
S3: This is Eddie finally dealing with his feelings/guilt season. This is also the season I think we really see how important Buck is to the Diaz boys. S2 had cute buckley-diaz family moments but those could still be interpreted as a best friend and his best friend's kid. This season though... after the tsunamic episode was when i really started to fully believe buddie was going canon. This season is solidifying their bond not only as Buck and Eddie but as Buck Eddie and Christpher. As I'm writing this I realized neither of them really has a love interest in this season do they? Ana is introduced but then is clearly presented as definitely NOT the right choice for eddie and especially for Chris. Then they counter that with Buck helping Eddie build a skateboard for Chris that he can use as opposed to Ana's ablest remarks about how he can't do it so just move on to something else. Then we get Buck's reaction in Eddie Begins. Buck has seen his team his friends his family get hurt on the job before but he has never reacted the way he did when it was Eddie in danger. Again solidifying just how much these two mean to each other. Don't even get me started on this season being when Eddie changes his will offscreen. Anyway we get Abby back and Buck finally gets the closure from that relationship that he needs to move forward into a serious relationship.
Now S4: jfc s4....IMO this is the only logical season to get the ball rolling on Buddie and they sure did that with 4x14 despite everything else. So i never thought they would be the first serious relationship for each other after the heart break theyve both experienced. It wouldn't be fair to their character developments. Buck tries dating Veronica and that clearly doesnt work but we know hes now open to dating again. We get Buck Begins where we see why Buck is the dare devil he is. The only way he got his parents attention as a kid was to put himself in danger. They bring back taylor and how to they ultimately get together after she friendzones him? She thinks hes in danger and suddenly wants him. As much as i hate it this is really gonna be a relationship where Buck finally stands up for himself and sees his own worth and realizes he deserves more. He deserves someone who sees him and loves him for who he is. He deserves to be chosen, something Abby Ali his parents dont do and what i think taylor wont end up doing. I feel like shes gonna choose her career over him. Maybe not in a "I'm breaking up with you" way but maybe she takes a new job and want to do LD (hes tried that twice and it didnt work for him. hes not gonna want that) or she could ask him to go with her but he wont. His family is in LA. His job is in LA. Eddie and Chris are in LA and he won't leave them. Then we have Eddie finally deciding to move on and try dating again so they bring back ana. To me it's not gonna work out so I'm not bothered at all lmao. It's interesting that they'd choose her though. Someone we already know Eddie doesn't trust with his son. There's also more buckley-diaz family scenes of them being coparents. The hildy episode, Chris running to Buck when hes mad at eddie, Buck being the one to tell Chris Eddie got hurt, then Buck staying with Chris and taking on the guardian role without him even knowing just how much that role really does belong to him. He didn't do it out of obligation. He didn't do it because he was asked to. He did it because he thought it would be best for Chris. Finally to 4x14. This is by far the biggest "Oh shit this is it. This is the beginning of buddie". We find out Eddie changed his will a year ago and has just been sitting on this info. I think Eddie knew back then what it meant but he wasn't in the right mindset to accept what it means so he kept it to himself. I think he finally started allowing himself to go there during treasure hunt. The man was jealous yall. Carla coming back and her comment about doing whats best for him and not chris is his oh shit moment. I think he wouldve broken up with Ana a few days after that if he had the time lol. He gets caught up in the mother/son sl then this poor mf gets shot by a sniper. The way that whole scene was filmed btw was not in a bff way. That was a lover watching his beloved almost die in front of him. Buck again puts himself down and Eddie decides this is the moment. He needs Buck to see how important he is. He wants buck to know how loved he is. So he sits there talking himself up to it and finally lets Buck know just how big of a part he is in Eddie's family. Buck's previous scene is him saying he wants someone who wants him back then here is Eddie saying he needs him...Chris needs him. wtf.
So with S5: I think Eddie knows and Buck has a feeling but he's not sure so what i would do is spend s5 with Eddie basically showing Buck his feelings but not exactly getting in the way of Buck's new relationship because Buck has to be the one to make that choice. Id also have chris feeling the different shift with buck having a gf like he did with Eddie. This newfound info wasnt just dropped on us for a "Aww so sweet" moment. This will business is gonna be a part of a bigger storyline. I'm hoping its with Eddie's family during maybe 5b.
So what I think would be the best timeline for canon buddie is 5a eddie already having either broken up with ana or is gonna break up with her, Buck choosing himself and ending things with Taylor by midseason finale, them bringing in Eddie's family in 5b and maybe then being when Eddie confesses his feelings for Buck. Then 6a we could get them walking on egg shells around each other not really knowing what to do bc this is all so new for both of them. This could bring just the right amount of comedy and angst especially them awkward and flustered around each other at work. A big blowup can happen between them for added angst (maybe an arguement before one of them or both of them is put in danger) then a midseason finale kiss. Then trying to find the balance between their personal relationship and their work relationship during 6b.
I don't know how long Fox shows last but procedurals can last a long time. I'm not sure thats gonna be the case for 911 especially with all the main cast staying that long so i think this would give us at least a whole season (S7) of canon buddie.
As far as then being presented as straight, there's been more seeds planted about buck being bi. A few i can remember off the top of my head: all of 2x1 lmao, maddie's comment about bucks boy crush on eddie, buck hinting at thinking eddie is cute when he thinks maddie is talking about him, the christmas elf, the comments on the instagram livestream, idk if youve watched it or not but TK's comment to Buck in the crossover episode, and like you mentioned Maddie's casual comment about setting him up with Josh. All we really know about Eddie's love life is he married Shannon when they were young and is trying with Ana so it could turn into a whole storyline for him.
I'm so sorry this is so long and took forever but i I hope i actually answered your question and didnt just get lost in rambles lmao.

why you can't compare buddie to destiel (from someone who ships both)
this is kind of addressing the recent negativity in the buddie tag, but it's also a collection of my thoughts and reasoning for being buddie-positive despite my experiences with destiel and spn in general. the text of 911 is not really discussed at all, and this is relatively spoiler-free, so if you're thinking of watching 911 I encourage you to read it. if you haven't seen both shows it probably won't make perfect sense, but I wrote this with spn fans who haven't seen 911 in mind, since that's most of my followers (and also seems to be where much of the negativity was coming from) pretty long post under the cut to save your dash
I just want to prepare y'all for the fact that buddie could be the slow burn will they/won't they mlm romance we've been waiting for practically forever.
at this point it's not fair to call it queerbait because where their relationship is now fits the characters and their development. this is not like destiel, where there were many moments over the years that could've ended with them getting together and it would've made sense with the story. buddie right now is in this sweet, wholesome pre-relationship kind of place, which on its own is a compelling dynamic and so fun and good to see. a resolution of it right now would feel out of character—they both still have some development to do before that would feel natural. and so, I don't think we can really call it queerbaiting unless the characters get to that point and there is still no resolution.
also I'd like to point out the overall positivity from the cast when it comes to buddie. both Eddie's and Buck's actors have said (I'm paraphrasing cast statements in this post unless they are in quotations) positive things about the pairing, and Buck's actor has said that he likes the interpretation of Buck as queer, and he would be happy if the writers took his character in that direction. also Eddie's actor with "that's what they all say" when buddie was referred to as a "bromance". Jennifer Love Hewitt, who plays Buck's sister (another main character), is very supportive of buddie, saying she's "rooting for it", that it would be "amazing", she doesn't "see how it couldn't happen one day". this was in response to hearing that a fan insists Buck and Eddie will be a couple. She flat-out said "I think so, too." She jokes about buddie with Buck's and Eddie's actors all the time. Also, my favorite bit from the video of her saying all this, "Let's manifest it together!"
It's safe to say this is a VERY different environment to spn. I don't think I've ever seen a cast this positive about a show's main non-canon queer ship before. NEVER. I think it's safe to say that if/when buddie is canonized, the cast will be just as excited as the fans—at least JLH will be! Add into the fact that the show's PR seems to be leaning into bi buck and buddie right now, it's a VERY different vibe than spn had, definitely. There's no gaslighting of the fans here, at least not that I've seen. also, although 911 has a large casual viewership, I think it's safe to say the GA would not be upset by buddie—there are only 3 serious, long-term romantic relationships involving main characters in this show, and one of them is a lesbian marriage with two children. And yes, the characters are shown being lesbians, it's not just a stated fact; the audience is privy to their relationship (and their interactions with their adorable kids). I think it's safe to say that buddie would go over well with the fans, even the casual viewers (of which there are many). buddie doesn't seem to be a huge divider in fandom like destiel is, either. reactions generally seem to be either "I ship it" or "I don't care either way."
Also I'd like to point out that while yes, it's possible that buddie is only bait (which would be disappointing), there's a reason queerbaiting works. people WANT to be queerbaited, because it's nearly indistinguishable from a slow burn will they/won't they queer romance. queerbaiting allows fans to make theories, create fan content (including fic), and keeps them engaged with the dynamic and the show. fans who are vulnerable to queerbaiting want a slow burn will they/won't they queer romance, which is currently an almost completely untapped market. spn could've tapped it, but despite the huge fandom they did not. there are SO MANY people outside of spn fandom who want a slow burn mlm romance, one that keeps the audience guessing, one that's will they/won't they, one that is not guaranteed, and that is why queerbaiting works so well. the audience doesn't just want the payoff, they also want the build-up. the longer the build-up, the higher the payoff, and the suspense of the build-up is gone if you know from the start that the payoff is definitely coming. that's part of why malec from shadowhunters didn't fully tap this market—there was no question of if, only the question of when (which wasn't really a question either, given there was an episode in season 1 literally titled "malec" when they got together.) the characters were always queer, the show being an adaptation of a book series where they were in a relationship and eventually had children together.
this was why November 5th was such a big deal—fans were so far past the will they/won't they aspect of destiel, firmly believing that destiel would always end as a "won't they" and not a "will they" that when cas confessed his romantic love for dean, destiel trended on Twitter over the US election. you all know that story, but maybe not everyone reading this knows that after Nov. 5 there was a case of hundreds if not thousands of spn fans experiencing love sickness because of the confession scene. the payoff of making destiel fully canon (and reciprocated, in English) would've been huge. fans would've been throwing their money at the c/w.
which leads me to the possibility (this is not at all me saying that I think this happened or even is likely, just that it's one possibility that /could/ have happened) that buddie started as bait, that the writers never intended for them to be a couple, but saw fan reactions to buddie during season 2 and started to lean into it in season 3 (and 4 so far, but it just started so I don't want to make any generalized statements about it) possibly still as bait or maybe not deciding yet if they'll go anywhere with it. and then maybe they saw destiel trending on November 5th, realized just how BIG the market for a slow burn will they/won't they mlm romance is, and said "hey, we already have the foundations for one of those. why not go for it and draw in all those viewers who clearly want one so badly?"
if buddie goes canon, because the cast and PR have been so positive about it, unlike spn, and because of the text of the show itself, the show's creatives could VERY EASILY claim that they were never baiting, that it was all an intentional slow burn will they/won't they romance from the beginning, and most people would believe them; there isn't really any evidence to the contrary, although I am sure there would be at least a few fans convinced it started as queerbaiting, and there might not be any evidence to refute that, either.
the point is that 911 is currently sitting on a gold mine. if they play their cards right, and execute buddie well, they will monopolize this market that old straight white men serving as network executives have failed so far to really tap into. they queerbait without the payoff, which gives the show a reputation among those in the market who haven't seen it, guaranteeing they will never watch it. shows in this vein: sherlock (huge reputation for queerbaiting and a finale fans didn't like) and spn (huge reputation for queerbaiting and a finale fans didn't like). spn got so, so close with cas's confession but then continued to gaslight its fans, and PR did not lean into destiel AT ALL. if 911 did buddie? the PR team would be all over it. it would be a moneymaker, big time, and Fox knows it. if buddie, or even just bi buck, went canon, tumblr would be all over it. viewership for the show, which is already impressive, would skyrocket. 911 would monopolize this market, because fans wary of queerbaiting would watch it with the knowledge that the payoff is there, and there really wouldn't be a competitor until other shows saw the success of buddie and followed suit with their own pairings, and given the fact that the market specifically wants /slow burn/ queer romances, that might take a couple years. that puts 911 in a really good position, where suddenly the fandom of the show, not just the GA, is very large and likely very dedicated to the show. the success of canon buddie might just change the landscape of TV in the coming years, showing execs that while queerbaiting does work, actually going through with it is really where the money is. 911 would not just monopolize the market for a while; it would pioneer it.
if buddie never goes canon, I would probably be a bit disappointed at the wasted potential, but unless the characters get to that point where canon buddie seems like the most logical outcome and they /don't/ go for it, I won't be truly upset because I don't think it's fair to claim its queerbaiting until then. I can't tell you how likely it is that buddie will be canon at some point, but it seems FAR more likely than destiel /ever/ did, and we ended up getting cas's confession in the end. I have hope, despite being hurt so badly by spn. 911 is a genuinely great show with some fantastic writing, and they don't leave chekov's gun unfired, unlike spn.
really, it comes down to this: if Jennifer Love Hewitt is allowed to clown for buddie, then so am I, and I'll enjoy this show—which is amazing even without canon buddie—while I apply my clown makeup.

Masterlist / Read on AO3
The summer of 1989 was one of the most terrifying and exhilarating times of your life.
Growing up, all you really had was your twin brother, and by extension, his group of friends. The girls at school never gave you the time of day, which was the way you preferred it, and most of the guys were completely disgusting.
By the time school let out in June of '89, your only plans involved hanging out with Richie and his friends while avoiding Henry Bowers and his gang if at all possible.
Of course, you didn't count on Pennywise.
The Losers’ Club rose and fell that summer all thanks to the clown who seemed hellbent on traumatizing you all for life.
You were used to the little group that consisted of you, Richie, Eddie, Stan, and Bill. You had grown used to their antics and usually had to be the first to talk them out of their more dangerous plans. Most days, they drove you absolutely crazy. You figured that was probably par for the course since you were the only girl among a group of boys.
Surprisingly enough, you got along with all of them. Richie was your twin and the person who knew you best. Out of anyone else in the world, you knew that if you had to, you would die for him. He could be a bit of a jackass, but he loved you in his own way.
Eddie was the worrier of the group. He was always the first to voice a concern, no matter how outlandish it might seem. You spent half your time with Eddie reassuring him that he was fine and the other half trying to get him out of his own head so he would actually enjoy his time with the group.
Stan was the other much-needed voice of reason for the group. Both of you had to work overtime to keep the others out of trouble and ended up bonding because of it. When you were just a little too done with the others, you looked to Stan to pick up where you left off. Richie liked to joke that maybe you were misplaced at birth and actually Stan's twin since you two were so alike at times.
And then there was Bill. He seemed to be the unofficial leader of the group, because everyone always turned to him for a plan. He was sweet and despite the tragedy he went through with Georgie, he always wanted to help.
He was also the one in the group that you had a giant crush on.
Crushing on one of your brother's best friends was inconvenient at best. Mostly, you were sure Bill only saw you as his best friend's sister and left it at that. At the very least, even if you wished he saw you as more, you could still always count on Bill to have your back.
So, while you were more than happy with the friends you had because of Richie, you couldn’t help but wonder if your little group would ever grow.
Fortunately, that summer, three more kids joined The Losers' Club.
Ben Hanscom, or Ben Handsome as you liked to call him, literally dropped right into your lives. He was shy and sweet and you found yourself gravitating towards him as time went on. He seemed to have a doomed crush on Beverly while you were totally miserable over your feelings for Bill. You spent many moments with Ben, both of you commiserating over the wreck that was your love lives.
After Ben joined the group, Beverly Marsh was soon to follow. She was funny and fierce and fearless. You couldn't help but admire the way she absolutely took no shit from any of the others and even managed to fit in with the group of misfits that made up The Losers' Club.
Mike Hanlon seemed to be the final piece of the puzzle you didn't even realize was missing until the infamous rock war against Henry Bowers and his gang. To your surprise, you and the other Losers managed to win, and it seemed the prize was Mike Hanlon. He was studious and calm in a way that leveled out the group. You were grateful for his presence when he joined, because he soon became your only anchor in the whirlwind that was soon to overtake your life.
You were glad for the friends you made that summer. Without them, you weren't sure if all of you would have survived. Pennywise would have come after one or all of you and without the others, you might not have made it.
Storming Neibolt House the first time was only the first fracture you experienced as a group, though. After Eddie broke his arm and everyone went their separate ways, you were scared about what it would do to you. As a group, you all stood a chance against Pennywise. But alone with only your brother to fall back on? You couldn't help but think that it would be oh-so-easy for Pennywise to take his revenge on you all.
You spent most nights terrified out of your mind that the shadows on the wall spelled your doom. The near-constant fear seemed to only help you bond with Richie more. You spent most nights in his bedroom, staying up until all hours of the night, and doing your best to not flinch at any and every strange noise.
You watched Richie slowly fall apart without the other Losers. You knew there was one in particular he was missing the most, but you didn't push him to talk about his feelings for Eddie. Derry in '89 wasn't the most welcoming place for what Richie was going through and Henry Bowers and his bigotry in no way made it better. All you could do was let Richie know you loved him and accepted him no matter what and he seemed to take solace in that.
The group didn't reunite until Beverly was taken by Pennywise.
Going back to Neibolt House to confront Pennywise felt like the most idiotic decision you had ever made, but it was your only choice if you wanted Beverly back. You were so terrified that she would be dead like the other missing kids, and even though you tried not to let fear rule your movements, it was hard not to jump at every shadow or errant noise down in the tunnels.
In the heat of the battle against Pennywise, when he flashed his several rows of sharp teeth your way, you almost hesitated. You could easily imagine those teeth tearing through your flesh and ripping you apart. It was Bill's voice urging you to swing at Pennywise that had you using the piece of wood in your hand to attempt to hurt Pennywise.
By the time Pennywise had managed to escape, you were exhausted. Stan was hurt. Beverly was acting odd. Bill had broken down after having to essentially kill Pennywise's borrowed form of Georgie. The rest of you were still shaken and terrified, but everything you suffered through only seemed to work in your favor afterwards. The group came back together and you couldn't help but think that you felt invincible. If you could go up against a murderous clown with your best friends, then there was absolutely nothing you couldn't do.
Despite everything you all went through and achieved that summer, it wasn't long before the group broke apart again. By the end of that summer, The Losers lost a member. It was a trend that would continue over the next few years until there were only two left in Derry.
Beverly was the first to leave. She promised to write, but something weird happened. Once Beverly left Derry, you didn't hear from her. You could tell it worried Bill and the others, but a part of you wondered if it wasn't for the best after everything Beverly had endured in Derry. If you could, you would have wanted to cut ties with the town as well. Although, you hated that she also seemed to be cutting ties with The Losers’ Club.
After Beverly, Ben's family left. And then Bill. And then Stan.
By the time it was only you, Richie, Mike, and Eddie, you started to wonder what the future held for all of you. You started to wonder if they were ever coming back.
Eddie and Richie planned on leaving for college, but you had known that you were going to hang back in Derry. You were going to stay with Mike and wait for It to return.
It was something both of you had decided on and while Mike insisted he would be fine on his own, you knew that it would be a very lonely existence to spend twenty-seven years in Derry just waiting for Pennywise to resurface. You knew that Mike would need someone to help him through the worst of it and while you knew it didn't have to fall to you, you also didn't notice anyone else sacrificing themselves.
It didn't make it any easier to say goodbye to Richie and Eddie once they finally left.
"Are you sure you don't want to get out of this shithole?" Richie was watching you as if he had half a mind to just shove you in his car and drive as far away as he could. "You don't have to stay."
"Yeah," you told him with a sad smile. "I kind of do."
"Well, I'll call," he assured you with a pat to your shoulder.
"Sure," you agreed. He wouldn't. He would forget. You were sure that was what happened when you left Derry. You just forgot. Forgot the town. Forgot the life you led there. Forgot everything.
If you forgot Pennywise, then how would you ever know to come back and try to finish the job? No, you would stay in the cursed town with Mike and wait. That was all you could really do.
You watched Richie go with a feeling of dread in the pit of your stomach.
It wasn't so terrible at first. Pennywise wasn't around to terrorize the residents of Derry or making meals out of fearful children, so a sleepy contentment settled over the town. It was peaceful, but incredibly boring.
Mike managed to secure a job at Derry Public Library while you started working the check-in desk at The Derry Townhouse.
You found that even with Mike's company, you still felt incredibly lonely. You found yourself flipping through photo albums and wishing that Richie would call. You wanted to hear how Beverly was doing and if Bill was working on a new book. You wanted to ask Richie if he ever made a move on Eddie or if they went their separate ways. You wanted to see how Stan was doing and if Ben was making a name for himself as a renowned architect.
You never did, though. If the others didn't remember Derry, then maybe it was for the best.
You usually spent most nights having dinner with Mike. He was doing his best to research Derry's history and figure out Pennywise's origins. He figured if he could just figure out one weakness, then it would give you all a fighting chance when Pennywise inevitably came back to wreak havoc on Derry.
Despite how much you hated it, time wore on. Some years seemed to drag on while others flew by. It seemed like you were bringing Mike a sandwich at Derry Public Library when he mentioned forgetting his lunch at home in 2009 and then suddenly it was 2015 and you were starting to see Christmas decorations appear around town.
You were at the library one night in mid-December, waiting for Mike to finish shelving returns so you could eat dinner together. It was your turn to cook, so you were planning on making spaghetti and meatballs. Mike had already mentioned the leftover birthday cake in the staff breakroom that was up for grabs, so you were hoping to have some for dessert.
You were sitting at the front desk, scrolling through a news article about Richie adding more dates to his US tour, and trying to distract yourself from growling stomach. You felt a strange mix of grief and pride as you read the article. You were so proud of your brother, but you mourned the years you missed watching him grow in his career and as a person. There was an ache you got every time you checked up on the other Losers, but it was especially fierce when you came across any news about Richie. It seemed unnatural to have to go without your twin for nearly twenty-seven years and some days you didn't know if you could stand it anymore.
"You know what's coming, don't you? You know what has to happen?"
You startled at the sound of Mike's voice coming from just behind you. He was reading the article over your shoulder, a sad smile on his face when he looked to you.
You bit your lip before nodding your head. "They have to come back. They have to help us."
Over the years, you had both talked over the possibility that Pennywise would be back numerous times. You half-hoped the evil fucker wouldn't dare show his face as long as there were any Losers left in Derry to protect it, but you knew better. Your luck had always been rotten and it wouldn't be long before the murders and reports of missing people started featuring in the news again.
You had spent so much of your time with Mike trying to convince him that you didn't need to involve the others. Two was always better than none, and while you wanted to see your brother and friends again, you didn't want to risk their lives. Mike was adamant that they all had to come back, though. He insisted it wouldn't work otherwise.
Mike was incredibly vague about what he meant by that. You knew there was something he was hiding from you. It had to do with the research he had carefully hidden from you, prompting you to believe that there was something heading your way that was likely to kill you all. You hated that after all these years together, he still didn't fully trust you. He had only ever asked that you trust him. He claimed that whatever he had discovered was the ace in the hole you needed to defeat Pennywise.
You felt a sinking feeling in your gut with each day that passed during the year of 2016. You weren't sure when Pennywise would resurface, but you instinctively knew he would reappear during the summer. It only seemed fitting that the summer of 1989 started this strange and horrifying journey, so why shouldn't it be the summer of 2016 that would end it for good?
You thought it was morbid that you found yourself thinking that either you would die and Pennywise would continue his reign of terror, or you would somehow live and defeat him. With each passing day, Mike's confidence seemed to be infectious. You caught yourself thinking wistfully of a future away from Derry. You weren't sure where you would go or what you would do, but after so long spent trapped in the tiny town, all you knew was that you wanted out.
Even though you seemed to always be waiting for his return, Pennywise still managed to catch you by surprise. You were going over the books for the Townhouse, having managed to successfully buy it from the owner in 2014 when he decided he wanted to leave Derry, and bemoaning your choice to become a business owner, when the phone rang. You absently reached out to grab the receiver, frowning down at the numbers that you were sure had to be complete bullshit.
"Derry Townhouse," you muttered into the phone. "How can I help you?"
"He's back," Mike said, his words immediately sending a chill down your spine. "I need you to meet me right now."
You weren't really sure how you got from being on the phone with Mike to standing at his side, both of you struck speechless by the bloody message Pennywise had left behind for you to find.
"Come home," you muttered, feeling fear begin to settle deep within your gut. You tried to fight it off, knowing that was exactly the reaction Pennywise was looking for from you, but you couldn’t help it.
Mike sucked in a deep breath, as if steeling himself, before he put an arm around your shoulders. "Let's go back to the library," he suggested with a weight to his words that let you know what was coming.
Mike volunteered to make the calls. He seemed a lot more level-headed about what had to happen than you did. You felt like you were sentencing everyone you loved to die. You didn't know how Mike was able to stomach calling each and every former Loser and reminding them of the oath they had sworn in 1989.
Mike had always been resolute in doing what it took to survive, though. Trapping himself in Derry for twenty-seven years, with the memories and ghosts and fear, was more than enough proof of that.
When the last phone call was finished, Mike turned to offer you a grimace.
"I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens now. But I think they'll show up. They have to," he added with a tone that told you he didn't fully believe that. "Do you have any open rooms at the Townhouse?"
You couldn't help but bark out a surprised laugh. "Business isn't exactly booming," you offered when Mike shot you a confused look. "I can house the Losers."
"Then all we have left to do is wait," Mike added with a wry twist to his lips that told you what he was thinking.
You had both done nothing but wait for the last twenty-seven years.
It was later that night, after you managed to drag yourself back home, when you got a phone call from a number you didn't recognize.
"Hello?"
"How the fuck did I forget I have a sister?"
You laughed, a smile on your face. "That's the magic of Derry," you said. "Hey, Richie. I've missed you."
"I think I've missed you too. Fuck," he hissed. "This is so fucking weird. I can remember Mom and Dad, but not you. How the fuck is that fair?"
"Mom and Dad eventually left. I never did." There was a heavy silence left on the line that made you mourn the easy communication you used to share with Richie. "How did you end up with my number?"
"When I stopped freaking the fuck out, I called Mike back and asked him for it. It's funny," he mused with a tone that suggested it was anything but funny to him. "I always felt like there was something missing, but I couldn't figure it out. Like there was someone there who should have been. I guess it was you," he offered with a sigh. "So, hey, you know I'm famous now?"
You felt a genuine smile break out on your face as Richie launched into telling you a story about an afterparty he once attended that resulted in him getting so wasted he accidentally threw up all over a former Spice Girl.
Later, as you were settling down in bed, you couldn't quite fight off the anxiety that had taken hold of you. If Richie came back to Derry, then Richie would have to fight Pennywise. You couldn't quite justify the idea of making your brother relive some of his worst memories, but you knew that it had to happen. If you believed Mike, and you did, then it would have to be all of you. It didn’t mean you had to like it, though.
You reached over to turn off the lamp on your nightstand, plunging your room into darkness.
Moonlight peeked around your bedroom curtains, lending you enough light to just see the outline of the other pieces of furniture in your room. You started to close your eyes, but you caught sight of something that looked out of place.
There was a figure standing just near the foot of your bed. You felt your breath hitch, a familiar thrill of terror coursing through you when the figure seemed to take a step closer. You heard a wheezing, rattling breath as a hand reached out to rest on the edge of the bed.
You gasped out a choked breath before you made yourself move, quickly turning on the lamp again. When you looked to the end of your bed to see that there wasn't actually anyone there, you let out a relieved breath. It had seemed so real and with Pennywise back, you couldn't help but wonder if this was It's doing.
You felt like a child when you left the lamp on, only managing to doze off every once in a while, before jerking back awake to hastily check and make sure no one was standing at the end of your bed.
You remembered the sleepless nights you suffered in ‘89 because of the same brand of fear you felt that night. There were nights when you swore there was someone else in your room while you were trying to sleep. Whether it was Pennywise’s demented giggle jolting you out of sleep or the feeling of fingers drifting over your ankle accompanied by the sound of a rasping, wheezing breath. You weren’t sure you actually got a full night of sleep that summer and you worried you were in store for the same now that Pennywise was around yet again.
You spent the next day booking rooms for the other members of the Losers’ Club and counting down the hours until you were all supposed to meet for dinner. You felt a nervous excitement at the idea of finally seeing everyone again. You weren't really sure how everyone would react to remembering Pennywise and the summer of 1989, but you were nearly relieved that it wouldn’t just be you and Mike any longer. It felt like you had been carrying around a terrible secret for years and now the burden would finally be lifted just the slightest bit from your shoulders.
When you got to Jade of the Orient, you had to sit in your car for a few moments and take deep breaths. You weren't sure why you were so nervous, but you couldn't help but fear that the group dinner was going to be disastrous. You didn't know how much the others remembered, but you were sure once the full effect of Derry began to hit them, it wasn't going to be pretty.
As you walked up to the restaurant, you noticed a man and a woman standing near the entrance. You felt a smile break out at the sight of the red hair on the woman. You knew instinctively who she was as you got closer.
"Beverly?" You couldn't help but ask as you considered her.
Beverly turned to look at you, her eyes narrowing for a split second as she attempted to recognize you, before her eyes went wide. "Y/N?"
"Yeah," you confirmed with a nod of your head as you moved to pull her into a hug.
"God, it's been so long," Beverly said as she pulled back. You noticed her look at the guy standing just behind her before she glanced back to you. "Ben," she mouthed with a tilt of her head, silently clueing you in to the man's identity.
"Ben Handsome," you started as you took a step away from Beverly. "Is that you?"
You noticed a blush spread across his cheeks before he ducked his head, suddenly sheepish. It was a gesture you recognized from childhood and you couldn't help but let out a pleased laugh as you moved to tug him into a hug as well.
"It's good to see you, Y/N," he murmured in your ear.
You pulled back and let yourself fully consider Ben. You couldn't help but think that he was remarkably handsome and you felt yourself blush when your eyes met his. His hands were on your shoulders and even though it was well past the moment when you should have stepped away, you felt nearly transfixed by him.
You were struggling to think of something to say, not sure if the moment was turning awkward or oddly heated, when you were interrupted by the sound of someone clearing their throat.
You glanced over to see Richie standing just a few feet away. "Well, you all look amazing," he observed as he studied you, Beverly, and Ben. "What the fuck happened to me?" He wondered with a self-deprecating tilt to his lips.
"Richie," you couldn't help but say as you practically flung yourself at your brother.
"Hey, Y/N," he said with a delighted chuckle before he brought his arms up to embrace you. "It's been a while, hasn't it?"
"Too long," you agreed with a sigh as you pulled away from him. You stepped back so he could have his own little reunions with Bev and Ben as well.
"So, were you guys going to stand out here all night or are we going to get on with this impromptu Losers' Club meeting?" Richie asked after hugging Beverly and shaking hands with Ben. "You three looked kind of cozy out here," he added with a raised eyebrow in your direction.
You shook your head and turned towards the entrance to the restaurant. "Beep beep, Richie," you muttered before you pulled the door open and stepped inside.
Reuniting with Bill and Eddie felt just as bizarre and surreal as seeing Richie, Beverly, and Ben again for the first time. Your eyes kept seeking out the empty chair at the table, however. You wondered where Stan was, but like with every meeting of the Losers' Club, it quickly turned loud and chaotic.
Richie couldn't help but poke fun at Eddie and while you were onto him, it felt like you were able to breathe again after years of suffocating within Derry's walls. You had felt trapped for so long that you forgot what it was like to have almost everyone back with you again. You listened to everyone catch up, your eyes seeking out Bill from time to time. You could still feel the remnants of your childhood infatuation and a part of you wondered if you would ever be over him. You kept glancing to where a wedding band had recently resided on his left hand, surreptitiously reminding yourself that while Bill was recently divorced, it was unlikely that he would ever feel anything for you.
You focused on the little things that made you feel at peace for the first time in years. Mike's small, proud grin as he listened to Bill talk about his new book and the way Richie kept glancing at Eddie, as if he couldn't believe they were in the same room again. You also saw the spark of interest in Richie's eyes once Eddie mentioned he was separated and well on his way to a divorce.
You noticed the soft, private grins Beverly shot Bill and the way Ben kept watching Beverly with a reverence that told you his childhood crush was still in effect as well. You let their laughter wash over you as you ate and drank, your thoughts turning to Stan more and more often as the evening wore on and he failed to appear.
"So, Y/N," Ben started as he leaned forward in his seat, focusing on you. "What have you been doing all these years?" You knew he was trying to deflect after Richie had embarrassed him by calling him hot, so you decided to have mercy on him.
"I, uh," you started before taking a sip of your drink. "I've been running Derry Townhouse for the past few years."
"You own that shithole?" Richie asked with incredulity in his tone.
You rolled your eyes before reaching across Beverly to pinch Richie's arm. "Yes," you answered. "And since you're all staying there for free, I'd like a little more gratitude."
"Thanks, Y/N," you heard Ben pipe up before the rest of the Losers toasted to you.
You had fooled yourself into thinking it might be a nice, uneventful reunion, but you should have known better. Pennywise had to take the first shot at the Losers' Club through the most disturbing and grotesque display.
The Pennywise bomb had just been dropped on the rest of the Losers right before the fortune cookies were dropped off at your table. Mike had reminded them of the oath they had all sworn and while Richie had attempted to lighten the mood a bit, you knew that everyone was well on their way to freaking out.
Once Eddie pointed out that his fortune was just one word printed on the small slip of paper, you realized that none of your fortune cookies actually contained a typical fortune.
After you deciphered the message from the fortune cookies, an ominous warning about Stan's fate that read 'I Guess Stanley Could Not Cut It,' chaos erupted from the bowl of unopened fortune cookies in the middle of the table.
You barely had time to process the fact that you were all being attacked by nightmarish monstrosities when you felt a hand wrap around your bicep, quickly pulling you away from the table. You looked over to see Mike, his eyes wide and frightened, as if he too had allowed himself to forget for a moment why you had been forced to call the Losers back to Derry.
It wasn't long before there were horrifying creatures flying about the room, knocking into the light fixtures and diving towards you all.
You heard Eddie scream and glanced over to see Ben trying to shield Eddie from something attempting take a bite out of him. Richie yelled Eddie's name, concern and fear clear in his voice. You only had a moment to make sure your brother was safe before something big and terrifying and screeching flew right into you.
"Fuck!" You blurted as you tried to ward off whatever was trying to sink its talons into your forearm.
You felt an arm around your waist before someone spun you away from the threat. You were suddenly facing the wall while someone stood at your back, shouting as they tried to face the creature that was just attacking you. You were panting for breath, not sure if it was out of fear or the adrenaline crashing over you, as you turned to see it was Bill who had saved you.
"Y/N! You okay?" You heard Richie ask, but you didn't get much of a chance to respond before Mike picked up a chair and began to smash it over the middle of the table in an attempt to destroy the rest of the fortune cookies, insisting that what you were all seeing wasn't actually real.
You were all more than a little jumpy as you finally gathered outside Jade of the Orient. After the hilariously inappropriate way Richie had yelled at a kid, forgetting for a moment a line from his own comedy routine, you were more than ready to crawl into bed and forget everything.
You didn't even realize that Beverly was trying to get in touch with Stan, because you were so distracted by the way everyone else was freaking out. Richie and Eddie were yelling at Mike for lying to everyone by conveniently forgetting to mention Pennywise when he called everyone home while Ben and Bill seemed to be silently trying to process everything that had just happened.
Mike was doing his best to keep everyone from skipping town when Beverly turned to face the rest of you, her phone held to her ear. She quickly put the call on speaker, allowing all of you to hear who was on the other line.
It wasn't until you heard Stan's wife confirm that Stan was dead that you realized all of your worst fears were coming true. The Losers' Club hadn't even had an opportunity to really face Pennywise and one of you was already gone.
You were barely aware of the fact that you were struggling to breathe. Stan couldn't be dead. Stan was always the shared voice of reason with you and one of the first to try to talk some sense into the Losers’ Club. He was Stan. Steady and dependable and sarcastic as hell. And he was dead.
"Mike," you called, tears starting to track down your face. "Did we kill Stan?" You whispered as you rounded on him, your breath stuttering in your chest at the thought. "When we called him, did we kill him? Did we do this? Is it our fault?" You could no longer justify calling everyone to ask them to return to Derry. Stan was dead and you couldn’t help but feel like it was all because you weren’t capable of facing Pennywise by yourself. Your fear of getting everyone you loved killed was washing over you and stealing your breath away.
"Y/N, no," Mike murmured before he moved to pull you into his arms. You only had a moment to rest your head on his shoulder, the tears flowing freely as guilt threatened to overwhelm you, before you were tugged out of Mike's hold.
"Hey, what the fuck did you do to my sister?" You heard Richie ask as he pulled you into a hug.
"Yeah, fuckwad, why are you making Y/N cry?" Eddie jumped in. His specific brand of indignation in his tone had you laughing somewhat hysterically into Richie's shoulder.
"He didn't do anything," you assured them as you finally managed to calm down. “I’m just upset about Stan.” You knew that what you were feeling in that moment was just going to give Pennywise nightmare fuel against you later. How was he going to twist this to haunt you? You shuddered at the thought before you patted Richie on the shoulder and stepped back. "I'm okay," you managed to say as you reached up to hastily wipe away the tears still tracking down your cheeks.
You felt someone place a hand on your shoulder and you looked back to see Beverly standing there. You noticed the tears welling in her eyes and the haunted expression on her face and knew that Stan's death was hitting her just as hard.
"Come on, Y/N," Richie pleaded as he pulled your attention back towards him. "Let's just get the fuck out of this shitty town."
"I’m not going anywhere, Richie. I live here," you reminded him with a helpless shrug of your shoulders.
"Well, you're moving," he told you as if it was that easy. He let out an incredulous laugh as he stuffed his hands into the pockets of his coat. He looked like he was trying to resist the urge to reach out and grab your arm, as if he was toying with the idea of dragging you out of Derry if he had to. "I can't believe I let you stay here," he muttered.
"I had to," you argued with a shake of your head. "I couldn't leave Mike alone all these years."
Richie snorted before he rolled his eyes. "Just, come on," he insisted as he nodded over towards his car. "You too, Eduardo. Let's go."
"Yeah, I'm right there with you," Eddie agreed as he made a break for his car.
"I drove myself here," you reminded Richie when he seemed like he was about to herd you towards his car.
"Fine. Fuck," Richie sighed as he glanced away. "Meet us at the Townhouse," he conceded before he took off across the parking lot.
You turned and met Mike's gaze, silently asking what you should do now.
"I've got him if you've got them," Mike said as he nodded over towards Bill. "There's something I've got to show him. But we'll see you at the Townhouse."
"Yeah, okay," you allowed with a grimace.
"Y/N," Mike called before you could fully turn away from him. He pulled you into a hug, letting you rest your weight on him for a moment.
"It was Stan, Mike," you muttered into his shoulder. "Stan."
"I know," Mike soothed as he pulled you closer for a brief moment. "We're going to kill It this time. We'll make It pay. But we can't do that if the rest of us don't band together."
"Yeah," you sighed, understanding what he was telling you to do. You had to go to the Townhouse and make sure none of the Losers were trying to skip town.
"Y/N," Mike called again just as you were reaching your car. "Thanks," he said when you turned to look at him. "I really couldn't imagine doing any of this without you."
You offered him a weak smile and a nod before you got behind the wheel of your car.
If you cried all the way to the Townhouse, mourning Stan and wishing that you could go back in time and stop Mike from calling him, then no one had to know but you.

Life could be such a wonderful experience. Feeling the warmth of the sunlight on your face while taking a stroll down a park, listening to the quiet sounds of the birds resting on the nearby trees. Humming a little tune of your own you relished in feeling the moment to its core, in its simplicity. Who could have thought that such a simple action could bring such powerful emotions? Well, maybe the Romantic poets did but that's beside the point.
Afternoon strolls were a recurring thing between you and Alfie. It had started a couple months ago when you thought it would be such a waste to be coped up into a restaurant with a beautiful day blossoming outside. Surprisingly, Alfie had agreed too despite the bad hip. He thought it would be a unique opportunity to get to know you better and indeed it was right. Along with the flowers, your relationship was starting to blossom too. It was crystal clear that there was something between you two but for some reason, neither of you pushed to put a label on it. You'd rather enjoy each other company in every possible way: evenings at the pictures, morning dates at a museum, dinner at your place and of course, your favourite one, the afternoon strolls.
Today wasn't any different than any other day. You were enjoying Alfie's company, walking alongside, observing the way nature was waking and growing more colourful. You were so taken by the sheer pink of a flower growing at the roots of a tree that when you looked up, it took you a moment to realize that the man who was walking your way, was rather familiar. Not in a good way though. Occasional meetings on the streets were something that you had always found rather dull but this one was different. You could tell by the feeling of dread that suddenly took over your bones or the shivers that made you slightly tremble. The man that had been unaware of his effect on you and yourself, was the one and only Stephan Loop.
Stephan had been your first crush but also your first heartbreak. Nothing really happened given that you were eight and he didn't reciprocate your feelings. That wasn't the worse part, you couldn't blame someone for not thinking you're pretty, even at the candid age of eigh you knew that. What broke you was what happened because of the crush.
You thought you had been sly about it but you couldn't have been more wrong because he knew and made it very clear that he didn't feel the same, even if you hadn't ever thought that he did, or well his cousin did. Sweet old wretched Clode thought it was rather fitting to make your crush very public. That meant not only poor Stephan that did nothing but stare probably not understanding what was going on, but also the whole class, which of course was very delighted by all the drama. It may sound a little childish because nothing really happened, but it was one of your most embarrassing moment, one that still haunted you from time to time. It's safe to say that you didn't recover from the embarrassment and shame yet. The crush was long forgotten but the shame... that will never fade. So when you saw his face coming closer you couldn't help but turn to Alfie for help, who was completely unaware of the intern turmoil you were experiencing.
"Alfie, quick hide me." you hurriedly walked over him and then behind him.
"What the fuck are you on about pet, what is going on?" He had been looking at the ground to try and not triple over any little rocks or branches. So he was genuinely startled by your sudden movement.
"Now it's not the time to ask questions, Alfred. Just put that massive body you have to use and hide me, please." You took the back his coat in your hands, holding it tightly so that you could keep him in place. A rather stupid thought given the difference between your hights and strength levels.
He hadn't a clue about what was happening but the fear and panic on your face were real. That much he knew. You kept glancing at the approaching Stephan, your face getting paler and paler as he took more steps towards you. It didn't take long for Alfie to connect the dots. He didn't know why but he knew that that man was the cause of your distress. So of course, he took the opportunity to turn the situation in his favour. Grabbing you, he brought you in front of him and softly pushed you on a wall you were walking by, his face getting dangerously close to yours.
This wasn't exactly what you had in mind when you asked him to hide you but Alfie was a cheeky bastard so you should've expected it.
"Don't take advantage of the situation Alfred." You warned him narrowing your eyes and staring pointedly at him.
"I don't know what you're talking about pet, I'm just doing what you asked, see? I don't think he'll be able to recognize you. I fear that your face is still too exposed tho. Here." and got even closer, your noses were now touching. If he inclined his head, your lips would too. Too into the moment, you let him distract you and have his way with you. He was even about to do it, that bastard, when you suddenly remembered yourself and pushed him away. You didn't know if Stephan had already walked past you but at this point, you didn't care.
"I actually prefer to die from an old wound that to open a new one, thank you very much asshole." you spat leaving him behind. But of course, Alfie being his annoying self didn't let you venture far off before catching up with you.
"A thank you would be enough, pet. " You heard his pace quicken thanks to the sound of leaves he stomped.
"Why the hell would I thank you?"
" 'Cause I've saved you from an embarrassing moment, like the gentleman I am."
"Yeah, by making fun of me. What a hero." you sassed with a roll of your eyes even though he couldn't see it.
"How was that making fun of you?" He sounded genuinely taken back
"Why would you pretend to kiss me? Couldn't you just hide me in a different way?"
"Public display of affection make people nervous so they don't look, alias you'd have been safe. You're welcome."
"Whatever you say Alfie." you mumble trying to put space between the two of you not in the mood to have this conversation anymore.
"Stop running Y/n, you know I can't keep up with you with this bloody stick." He growled and you knew he was getting frustrated.
"Well, maybe that's the point." you mumbled loud enough so that he could hear you.
To be honest, Alfie's behaviour was nothing new. He always did like to make fun of you or to put you in a tight spot just to see you all flushed and embarrassed. He was a sadist, that old bastard. But you also like to make fun of him and his nice and elegant walking stick so it was fair game really. The similarities between what he did and what happened with Stephan were too close though to let you brush away his comments like an irritating joke.
You slowed down after a while, letting him catch up with you, and he did eventually, in silence.
"So, wanna tell me who was that bloke?" he asked after a while.
"Not really." you mutter with a shrug.
"Did he hurt you?" he asked further.
"Not really." His cousin did.
"So what did he do that had you hidin' behind me like a scared kitten?" He persisted like you know he would.
"Let's just say that he's related to the most embarrassing moment of my life." You confessed.
"So he did hurt ya. Want me to let him meet my fists?" He oh so kindly offered.
"Although that's really kind of you, I think it's not necessary. And he didn't hurt me, his cousin did, " you started letting him in slightly, "she made fun of me because I had a little crush on her cousin, who was the guy we saw earlier. I haven't spoken to either of them since that day."
"Did he make fun of you too?" he just asked.
"Not really. But I'll always be the girl who had a crush on him you know? How can I ever look him in the eye after that?" You finally open up, looking to him and you find him already staring at you.
"He should feel fucking lucky to have a girl such as yourself crush on him. But, if it really bothers you still, you could be the girl he saw again after all these years, at the arm of a gentleman such as myself." He joked but you knew that his words were a tacit offer.
Smiling at him, you take the arm he was offering. Oh, how you cherished this man.
"Well, I think I'll take you up on that, thank you very much." you beam at him, leaving a sweet kiss on his cheek sealing the deal.

ok i've been reading your shannon posts (because your opinions are so good and well-written thanks for sharing btw) and i thought you brought up some really interesting points about eddie's parents and how they might 'mean well' but were obviously pretty hurtful. if you have the time and/or are interested, would you mind elaborating a bit on that? hope you have a nice day :)
Hello dear nonny, I’m so sorry it’s taken me so long to respond to this. I was taking a short break from fandom and didn’t really go on tumblr much, and I wanted to be sure to give this ask the time it deserved. Thank you for your patience and I hope this lives up to your expectations.
Now, first and foremost, I would deeply welcome any thoughts by Latinx and mixed-race Latinx people such as @extasiswings or Hispanic people such as @michaelgrantnash if they would like to add them, since Eddie’s Latinx background does play a role in his upbringing. I personally will not be talking about that, for obvious reasons. I’ll simply be addressing this from the position of someone who has experienced and is educated on abuse and unhealthy relationships.
I’m going to make some quick bullet points and then I’ll elaborate on them. Eddie’s parents are hurtful because they:
do not believe in him
belittle him
belittle Shannon, exacerbating an already tough situation between Shannon and Eddie
declare him an unfit father and try to take Christopher away from him
Obviously some of these are more glaring than others. I’ll work up to the big things. Let’s start with the belittling.
One of the best examples of this is in 3x15, when we flashback to Eddie after he’s been home for a short bit after his helicopter crash overseas. His mother criticizes how he make his son’s drink, and then mockingly refers to him as a “big war hero” - saying that he might have been all that and a bag of chips but he can’t make a drink for his son right, a supposedly small and easy thing to do.
Eddie then mentions it to Shannon a few moments later, and Shannon replies that she’s had to deal with a lot of that, too, showing us (the audience) that comments like this are a pattern with Eddie’s mother.
Small things build up. Little comments like that might not seem like a lot, but think about how the last time someone said something like that to you, it stuck with you. I know it sticks with me. But to hear something like that repeatedly from someone you care about? That has to really hurt. And Eddie and Shannon treat this as a normal, every day issue. Eddie’s probably had to deal with something like this his entire life. That wears down a person’s self-esteem and explains a) Eddie’s low self-esteem issues and b) his reluctance to open up emotionally. He’s scared he’ll be dismissed. His mother literally mocks the medal and event that have given her son trauma. That’s really not okay.
Not to mention, all of this belittling undoubtedly contributed to Shannon leaving. Shannon says that she’s raising Christopher all alone, and that is patently untrue and I will physically fight her over it but the fact is she probably didn’t feel welcomed by her husband’s family if those were the kind of comments she was used to. Eddie literally says, half joking, but really hurt, that “I can’t even give my son a drink properly,” to which Shannon replies that she knows how that feels.
This tells us that Shannon’s head to deal with this the entire time. Eddie’s parents later say that Christopher was with them nearly every day of his life since he was born. That means Shannon was with them nearly every day in some capacity until she left, so she had to deal with a lot of comments. While it doesn’t excuse her abandoning her four-year-old son (no, I’m not over it, I will never be over it), all those comments definitely built up and contributed to her feelings of abandonment and hurt.
And of course, it’s never just belittling. Abusive behavior is never just the small things (although the small things add up and they matter). It leads to bigger issues, too. And we see this spectacularly in 3x15, in the flashback after Shannon’s left.
Eddie’s parents try to take his son away from them.
Let that sink in. We have spent nearly two full seasons watching Eddie be a loving, dedicated, soft, adoring father to Christopher. We’ve seen him move heaven and earth to take care of his son - and now we see that his open affection and devotion to his child is something he obviously taught himself and worked hard on, and was not the result of a good example by his parents. Eddie builds Christopher up, tells Christopher that he can do anything, protects Christopher ferociously. Eddie’s parents, on the other hand, see their son being a single parent working three jobs and tell him it’s not good enough.
What the fuck.
They literally say, in 3x15, that Christopher should be raised by them, not Eddie. And reinforce this when they say Eddie should move back home to Texas post-Shannon’s funeral. This is actually the first time we (the audience) see them, even though this takes place post-3x15 since in that episode they’re showing up in flashbacks.
Their very first appearance and they’re telling Eddie, “You should bring Christopher back to us. He doesn’t belong here.” They’re ignoring the entire life that Eddie has built for his son here and once again implying that Eddie isn’t good enough to be a parent. Furthermore, they’re making Eddie’s move to LA all about Shannon, and how now that she’s dead they should move back to Texas, rather than realizing that while Shannon was a big part of the reason for the move, getting Christopher a better educational situation and Eddie a better job were also part of it.
All of this leads to the first bullet point: that Eddie’s parents do not believe in him. And possibly never have. We only see this in relation to his being a father and husband but I doubt it just stops there.
No wonder Eddie wanted to move to LA. It wasn’t just about Shannon. In fact it wasn’t all that much about her, seeing as he didn’t try to contact her when he got there and didn’t seem all that happy to see her when she first showed up, despite his later attempts to try and make things work. It was about his parents. Eddie’s parents tried to take his son from him, so he packed his bags and got the hell out of dodge.
Honestly, I wonder if he talked to his abuela about it. “Hey, they’re trying to take Chris from me, I need help.” Eddie’s clearly close with her, closer than he is to his parents. Just a thought.
And what about Christopher? He has to be overhearing what the adults are saying. His grandparents never hid how much they hated Shannon, so it’s likely they discussed Eddie’s supposed failures where Christopher could hear it, too. What does that do to a child? It hurts and wounds them deeply, I can tell you that.
Compare the behavior of Eddie’s parents to the 118, and specifically Buck. When Eddie was working three jobs to support his son post-military, his parents told him he wasn’t doing good enough and tried to take his child away. Buck sees Eddie struggle with a babysitter and so quietly and without judgment gets Eddie a service worker who can help Eddie go over options for his childcare. The 118 welcomes Christopher into the fire station and Bobby tells Eddie that he, and Christopher, have a safe place there.
When Eddie’s hurting post-Shannon, Bobby doesn’t tell him he made a mistake or did anything wrong. He asks if Eddie is okay. He supports Eddie and tries to get him therapy.
When Christopher’s struggling because of the skateboard incident, Carla and Buck support Eddie. They don’t tell him he’s raising his son wrong, or that it’s not okay for him to be upset.
Karen and Hen have playdates for Denny and Christopher. They talk with Eddie and build a friendship with him.
From day one, Buck has been there for Christopher, and the one time Buck fucked up (with the lawsuit), he apologized and admitted he was wrong to leave Christopher’s and Eddie’s lives without a word of warning. Buck is there for Eddie, ready to lend a helping hand, but also cheering him on.
How much must it have meant to Eddie, to have his best friend (and love interest, fight me) literally bleeding to death and not caring because he was desperate to find his son? To have that best friend devastated at the very idea of failing Christopher, and saying he would understand if Eddie didn’t trust him with his son again, because how could he? After his parents told Eddie he wasn’t good enough, to have someone so fucking dedicated to his child looking at Eddie and saying no, no you’re a great father, I’m not good enough... that must have meant more than Eddie could’ve found the words for.
Eddie telling Buck, “There’s nobody in the world I trust with my son more than you,” wasn’t just for Buck. It was for Eddie, too. Because he’s finally found someone he can trust with his child, who won’t try to take that child away from him, who won’t tell Eddie he’s not good enough. He’s found someone to help him be a father rather than steal that role from him.
Buck and the 118 have respected Eddie’s authority as a father, his love for his son, and his dedication to Christopher the entire time. And their only attempts to step in are attempts to give Eddie support since nobody can do it alone, and everyone needs help sometimes. The 118 are a better family to Eddie than his parents have been in every canonical interaction we see. They don’t tell Eddie all the ways he’s doing it wrong. They praise what he’s doing right and catch him when he stumbles.
Emotional abuse is not always big. In fact it’s often harder to catch than sexual or physical abuse. And it can be small and subtle. Eddie’s parents aren’t straight up bullying him in the way we’re raised to recognize. But they criticize him constantly. Tell him everything he’s doing wrong. And most importantly they tell him that he can’t do anything without their help, without being around them. It shows they don’t believe in him and that they want to make him dependent on them - and it means Eddie doesn’t believe in himself.
That’s not okay. I’m sure that they’re well-intentioned people who don’t realize how much they’re hurting their son. They might even be good people, by other definitions. But to paraphrase Maddie Buckley, you can be a good person, just not a good parent. And Eddie’s parents are, from what we’ve seen, not good parents. And they don’t give Eddie what he needs.

Anywhere You Go, I Follow (1/8)
Summary:
Buck always believed it to be a curse. The whole being able to see and talk to ghosts thing. That was why his abilities went mostly ignored until there came a time when he actually needed them.
Notes: Inspired by The Mediator series by Meg Cabot during my re-read I had the very beginning of this first part just there in my mind and I HAD to write it. I also decided to make this fic a challenge for myself. Giving myself the goal of using about 1k words per part and covering everything I wanted in each part in that limit of words.
The quote comes from Rabbit Heart by Florence and the Machine.
Warning: There is MCD but this fic has a happy ending.
Word count: 1,140
Masterpost
Read on Ao3
-
Part One:
“This is a gift, it comes with a price. Who is the lamb and who is the knife?”
-
Blood was everywhere. The one thing that the internet and the many books that Buck had had to reference hadn’t mentioned was how messy blood was. Maybe it was one of those things that you were just supposed to know. In truth, Buck could admit to himself that he was maybe completely in over his head.
The sigils that he’d drawn on the ground looked crude and although Buck had double and triple checked that they matched the pictures on his phone, he still checked them one last time before he sat down and placed the picture in the circle formed by the blood drawn marks and the candles and then he began to chant.
The words felt awkward and foreign in his mouth, they were a language that Buck couldn’t understand. Something ancient that Buck doubted anyone living actually spoke still. But nonetheless, he knew the words to be powerful.
And when it happened, he was certain that they held power.
The portal opened right in the middle of the circle, the candles he’d lit framing it with a halo of light. Fog crawled out of the portal, taking over the room and although Buck knew what came next, he also knew that nothing could have prepared him for it — for facing the other plane.
“You better fucking be in there,” Buck said and then taking a deep breath he stepped in.
For a moment, all he experienced was falling but it was falling with the speed slowed down to about half, but he still landed hard and stumbled to the ground after what felt like several long minutes.
The room he found himself in was all mirrors. Mirrors and more mirrors in all sizes, covering every inch of the space, even the floor and Buck was completely alone until he wasn’t. And he realized fairly quickly that he wasn’t in the astral plane quite yet but in the lobby.
Out of one of the bigger mirrors stepped out a woman with long flowing blond-white hair that fluttered behind her almost like a cape. Her eyes were a familiar blue that Buck looked into every morning when he looked into a mirror. Her gossamer dress was white and translucent and otherworldly. Everything about her was otherworldly.
“Hi, mom,” Buck said.
Her face was youthful, not a wrinkle in sight and a glow surrounded her. She gazed at him for a long moment before she stepped forward, one hand outstretched. “Evan, what are you doing here?”
“I need to see him,” Buck said. “Mom, I need to see him.” He didn’t add why or what he wanted to do once he found him.
His mom touched his cheek and her touch felt cold not like being touched by another person with cold hands but like he’d been touched by a wet rag.
“Evan…”
“Please. Please.” And his emotion...the stuff that had been bubbling up inside and that he’d pushed aside so that he could figure out how to do this, it was threatening to come up and take over.
“Evan, you know I—”
“I am asking for one thing. One simple thing. I...I need this. I need this. Please. I just want to say goodbye.” It hurt when his sob was wrenched out of him unbidden. His eyes were flooded with tears that he was refusing to let fall. Instead they just blurred his vision.
“Evan, I’m—”
Buck lunged at her, clutching at any part of her that he could, mostly her dress which felt like silk and she held up his weight. For the longest moment he was just sobbing and she never reacted other than her hands, long fingered with long pointed nails coming up to cup his face.
“Sweetheart, you know I can’t. If I let you go on there is no guarantee that you’d be able to come back and that...I couldn’t live with myself if—”
“You’re not alive!” Buck yelled, his words echoed off of the mirrors and his mother flinched.
“You don’t belong here,” she said but made no move to send him away even though Buck was sure that his mother probably could do that.
Really, it all began when Buck was very young. Or maybe, it had begun sometime when the powers that be cursed them. One of his ancestors that is. That’s what it was, and what it had always been to Buck. A curse. Growing up, they had always been around. Ghosts. To Buck they were just like a normal living person except that ghosts had a slight glow to them. When he was little, Buck didn’t even really know the difference especially since the ghosts didn’t come to him. They came for his mother. And then later, they came for Maddie.
Ghosts didn’t respect any part of Buck’s life growing up. It didn’t matter that it was bathtime and he and his mom were in the middle of playing with the rainbow rubber ducks or his boats. It didn’t matter that his mom was reading him a book. Or that she was getting him ready to go out and play in the snow. It didn’t matter that they were going to bake cookies. They needed help and his mom would jump at the chance to do it. Maddie was never as devoted, but she took the whole thing seriously too especially after their mom died because then she felt more responsible.
Buck had long ago refused his part in the whole tour guide to the afterlife thing. And yes, he did have a choice in it. So had his sister, and Buck could only presume that his mother had as well. Maddie had chosen to take up the mantle and Buck decided he wanted nothing to do with it. He wanted to make a difference for the living, not the dead.
After his mom’s death via ghostly specter who didn’t take to death kindly, Buck had wanted even less to do with it. The powers that be — and that was a whole mystery upon itself — they had allowed his mother to retain a connection to the living plane as gratitude for her hard work...and they had also let Buck off the hook. He didn’t have to be a mediator.
In all reality, his powers had never gone away. Buck just did his best to ignore them...and it became easy as time went on to not see the ghosts. Rarely did any show up in search of him and in those cases, Buck did the only thing he could do which was point them to his sister. She was the mediator, Buck was the guy that gave the ghosts directions.
Everything changed when Eddie died.

Part Two
Notes: So there it is. Part One. I promise it isn’t as angsty as it seems and I’ll admit that this was an odd fic to write and that I couldn’t quite figure it out in this and the second part. I did want it to be a twist on the usual mediator or ghost fic.
I’m mostly finished writing this fic, so updates will be quick like every other day. Let me know what you all thought.
If anyone wants to be tagged in the future parts let me know. :)

Ok I had to write a quick post about the Buck costumes we've just seen some glimpses of - thank you JLH, Oli et al - You've made me very happy!! I'm going to apologies in advance for the terrible image quality but its hard to get good phots from insta videos - they move around too much and too quickly 😆
I should preface this by saying I'm working on a post about Maddie's leather jackets and print tee and jumpers so bear with me on that - it'll probably have to wait to the weekend for me to finish it!
Anyway back to Buck and the white trainers are back baby!!!
Tumblr media
The return of the white trainers is good news for us all - it means forward movement in Bucks search for love - and in this case its the familial kind of love, I'm calling it now that this is the Buckley siblings reuniting moment - hence the trainers - because his family is returning and thats going to make Buck feel better and more whole - healing can begin! If you want to read my white trainer theory in more detail then its linked in the pinned post on my blog! The navy tee is interesting as well - its kinda purpley so if we take the blue meaning - calm, care, trust, loyalty and security and throw in some purple colour meaning - enlightenment, wisdom, compassion and emotion - its all screaming reunion and a conversation to me!! So I'm fully expecting a Buckley siblings heart to heart which is going to help us understand so much about where buck is psycologically and emotionally!
on to the other bts we've gotten (we are being well served today!)
Bucks grey jackets 3.0 - we had this one in Breaking point
Tumblr media
Then this one from 5x10 Wrapped in red
Tumblr media
And now the new one
Tumblr media
These grey jackets from Breaking point and wrapped in red appear at interesting moments - they track across two different parts of Bucks life - namely the Tay Kay of it all and Bucks family.
In breaking point we see Buck at odds with Taylor - at cross purposes Buck 'phoning a friend' and Taylor thinking its a hook up date - we see her belittle Buck and put in minimal effort with him - there is literally no attempt to play nice and things end badly - with Buck accused of being a bad friend. We then see the same jacket etc when Buck is dad shaped - talking to Christopher about his running away, Eddie dating and Christopher telling Buck he's a good friend.
The wrapped in red jacket is pretty similar to the breaking point one - its not as dark and the fabric is a less bobbily weave - again we see Buck wearing it at two important moments - the gift exchange with Taylor - where he gives her the bracelet (I think its significant we don’t see her actually give him the jumper she got him!) - although theres no conflict as such in this scene between them, its significant in the trajectory of their relationship. this is all followed by Buck talking to Hen about his family being missing and then obviously by Eddies big announcement - another blow to Bucks family dynamics - and something that is going to affect his friendships with the Diaz family.
Its all pretty fascinating if we focus on the Diaz element of it all because the two scenes when Buck is in the grey jackets are so significant - seeing Buck talking to Christopher - parenting him and being an important anchor point for Christopher - a safe harbour
Breaking point is obviously the more similar of the two in relation to the new jacket because its accompanied by the black button down shirt but the fact the jackets are getting lighter in colour is an interesting thing as is the fact that this new one is actually herringbone weave with white pinstripes - breaking up up the block of colour - could mean that the internal confusion and conflict we’ve seen him experiencing is beginning to break up - dividing into its parts - as buck begins to resolved his internal issues - basically all his problems had merged and become 1 larger problem which was overwhelming in its enormity, but now with the return of Maddie some of the parts making the bigger issue are beginning to resolve - hence the patterning becoming less like old school tv static and making it easier to see the individual traumas etc.
I’ve spoken before about when buck wears black shirts (not all that often) and how they come at times (such as in breaking point or pre tsunami and during the lawsuit) when he’s struggling and questioning internally- the fact we’ve seen him in much darker colours this season so far is indicative of this - so whichever scenes they’re filming in the insta videos from yesterday, there are still clearly many underlying issues and very often these manifest themselves externally with Buck - perfect example is the tsunami and law suit arcs. It’s what made the I love you scene particularly amusing - dark coloured and patterned shirt = buck not really meaning it and just going with the flow - when buck says I love you and means it - he will be in a brighter happier colour!!
