WIP (And by WIP, I mean I just started most of these!)

The Lovely @ejunkiet and @starlitangels tagged me to share my WIP! However, I've been really busy and my brain has been scattered, so I don't have a proper snippet to share.

I do however have fragments of each WIP that I can share, so here are some of my favourite quotes/lines from each WIP I'm working on (in order for release too)!

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!

So I’ve had these characters literally living in my head since I was like 12 soooooo. the story’s a bit convoluted. So I’ll just do the characters backstory and stuff!

Mai- Used to live in a small rural town run by clergy who secretly experiment in dark magic. She’s taken away in the night by 3 members of the clergy and gets experimented on with the aim of being turned into a living weapon. She manages to escape and eventually meets the other protagonists in my story! She does go into a bit of a decline tho, which starts with her killing her dad and ends with her trying to sacrifice herself because she can’t deal with her power anymore (spoiler alert it doesn’t work)

Reyna- Lives with her uncle after her mum kicked her out of the house. She’s an amazing shot, and practiced with her uncles guns behind his back all the time. She’s been best friends with Cal for years, and meets Mai when she’s visiting town with him. Because of Mai’s powers and the general problems that they cause, Reyna finds herself fighting for her life pretty often, and she loves it.

Cal- Reyna’s best friend. Stays with her and her uncle mostly, after he (unbeknownst to his dads) dropped out of his fancy private school. After he met Mai he is plunged into a world of violence, and even though he doesn’t really like it, he finds himself craving it. Things go from bad to worse when one day he’s blown up by a land mine, only to be revived (via dark magic) by Mai. Even though he’s grateful to be alive, form then on he experiences MAJOR impostor syndrome, and feels a disconnect from his previous self and who he is after he’s brought back to life.

Quinn- Left home when he was 12 to flee persecution in his hometown (it’s never specified what really happened). Steals and cheats to earn a living, and lives in a squat in the town where everyone first meets. Lived a hard life pretty much by himself, which is why he loves being friends with Mai & co, even though they experience so much shit. Oh and he also is in love with Cal (sorry I had to)

Aaaaand Mari- Mari and her older brother moved to the city when they were pretty young after their family home burnt down. Her brother would play his violin for money on the street while she collected it. One day though, they are mugged by a gang of boys. Mari manages to fight them off, but her brother receives a stab wound that becomes infected, and he dies. From then on Mari has a constant anger that she can never get rid of. She used to her advantage, joining in fighting rings and killing/maiming ppl for money. She meets Mai at one of her fights, and shortly after, is given the job to kill her. (Spoiler alert: they fall in love)

One week since Calum left and I don't know how I can miss him more than I do right now. I know it's only going to get worse. Everything is only going to get worse.

I'm finally not feeling completely like death, but my second chemo appointment is today, so that'll be changing quite quickly.

Now that I've been to a chemo appointment, I know what to expect. Today, I pack my fluffy blanket that Crystal got me, my worn out copy of Catcher in the Rye, headphones, and a phone charger. I'm dressed in my only pair of joggers and a crop top with Cal's Real Madrid hoodie tied around my shoulders to wear inside the hospital. I make three coffees: one for me, one for Emelia, and one for Ron. I put mine in a spill proof bottle so I can put it in my bag and carry the other two.

I watch Emelia's location, waiting for the blue dot to get close enough to me that I can go downstairs and meet her out front when she pulls up. After giving Duke a kiss on the nose, I head out, taking the elevator down to the lobby and dropping Ron's coffee off at the desk. He's on the phone but he smiles gratefully and mouths 'thank you' while I keep walking past him, seeing Em's car right outside already.

Emelia fills me in on her morning. Her roommates have been slacking on their share of the dishes and she's been annoyed. It's typical stuff, and I feel like she always has the same gripes in her life. I'm somewhat jealous of the cyclical nature of her problems. Mine aren't even on the same road. I was jolted from a life of LSAT stress and classes to a life of IVs and sterile hospitals and a death sentence.

By now, she knows exactly how to get to the hospital and drops me off in front of the door.

"You're done at 3?" She asks, confirming when she'll come back.

"Yeah, 3, but I can wait a while if that's too early." Her shifts normally end right at 3, and I don't want her to leave work early to pick me up. I don't have anything else to do, so I can just wait until she's done with work.

She swats at the air to mean 'that's nothing' and I fight the urge to tell her to stay at work. "I'll be here at 3. I love you, let me know if you need anything."

She rolls up her window before I can say anything, so I turn around and enter the building. After checking in, they do another blood draw and take a handful of other vitals before I walk back into the room of armchairs. I don't get a welcome sign today, but there are cookies and juice again.

I sit in my chair and put on the hoodie I brought, throwing my blanket across my lap. I pull up my sleeve so they can put the IV in, and again, I can't look. I instead look to my left, just trying to find something else to focus on, and instantly regret it.

About six seats to my left — all of the ones in between are empty — is Macy. She's in a similar state, wearing a hoodie with sweatpants, a blanket wrapped around her shoulders, and headphones in her ears. She's staring straight at me with her eyes wide, probably in disbelief. There's no getting out of having a conversation with her. She's seen me and she knows I've seen her.

I turn to stare straight ahead, accidentally meeting the gaze of the old man sitting across from me. I end up squeezing my eyes shut so I don't have to look at anything while they insert the IV. When I feel the nurse put the tape over it, I reopen my eyes and pull my sleeve back down.

"Is it okay if I move a few seats down?" I meekly ask her.

A brief moment of confusion flashes in her eyes, but she nods. "Yes, of course, do you need help?"

"No, I'm fine."

I stand up, clutching my blanket around my shoulders, slinging my tote bag onto my arm, and wheel the IV with me while I walk toward Macy. She smiles at me when I'm next to her, sitting in the chair directly next to hers.

"Hi," she says quietly.

"Hi."

I then realize I have no idea how to start the conversation or what to say. It seems that both of us have withheld some information, but the pieces of Macy's story start to fit together.

She's visiting her parents, who happen to have an apartment near UCLA's hospital.

She's taking a gap year, indefinitely.

She wants to be a doctor.

Macy has cancer, and I bet she's had it for a long time. I bet her parents don't live in this part of LA normally, they just stay here when she's in treatment. That's why she said they sort of live in the building, because they aren't full-time residents.

Macy has cancer.

The facts sink in and then I get more and more questions. Is it bad? Terminal? Has she been in treatment for long? Has she had it her whole life?

"I have leukemia," I say, breaking our silence. I'm quiet, nearly inaudible, but I have no doubts that she heard me.

"I'm so sorry," Macy whispers back, sounding devastated. "I had no idea."

I chuckle. "Yeah, I'm not really advertising it." I look over at her and she's nodding.

"I totally get it," she admits. Her face is somber and wistful, so thoughtful and hard to really pin how she's feeling. "I've been in and out of treatment since I was five."

When I open my mouth to tell her that I'm sorry and ask what kind of cancer it is, she cuts me off.

"I've gotten tired of the instant pity I get when I tell people I have cancer, so I just don't really tell people," Macy explains. "Eventually I do. I just don't want people to only be nice to me because I'm sick. I want them to be nice to me because they like me."

"I like you."

I understand what she means. It's the same way that Calum feels: people are nice to him just to get closer to fame, a good connection, a few thousand followers. They aren't nice to him because they like him. Of course, it's different for Macy. People aren't being nice to her because they want something from her. They're nice because they feel bad.

"You're like the nicest person on the planet, that doesn't count."

"I'm an average level of nice."

Macy laughs. It's a genuine laugh, which is a nice sound for the current setting. "Sure, if that's what you want to believe, but I disagree. You're truly the kindest person I know."

I don't want to sit here and argue with Macy about my level of niceness and kindness, so I decide we should drop it at that.

"Calum likes you too," I add.

She scoffs and then giggles again. "I'm sure you had nothing to do with that."

"He likes you! I promise!"

"I'm not doubting that, but I have no doubt you put in a very good word for me," she says. "But also, I love getting to know both of you, so I'm not complaining."

"I'm really glad we ran into you in that elevator," I confess. "I'm glad you're in our lives."

"See? Nicest person I know."

I go to punch her in the arm but am reminded that I'm tethered to the IV and there's a tube that moves along with my arm. It pulls me back to our reality, and I think it does Macy, too.

"How long have you been in treatment?" Macy asks.

"Today is my second one. First was last Wednesday."

Macy does a sharp intake of breath. "You had your first treatment and were still able to go get coffee with me on Sunday?!"

I nod.

"Dude, everyone I've ever seen go through this stuff is completely knocked off their feet by the first round. You're tough as shit."

Her words warm my heart and I'm grateful that she is able to see something good out of this hardship. Some days I feel strong, but mostly, I feel weak. Too weak to live my own life. Too weak to tell Calum the truth. Practically too weak to take care of Duke.

"I can't believe you started treatment right as they left for tour. Calum didn't want to stay with you?"

There it is. The part of the conversation I don't want to have.

"Um... he, uh, he... I — I didn't tell him."

Macy is quiet while she processes what I told her. I can tell she's shocked, and based on what I know about her, she would've normally yelled or screamed something, but because we're in a hall of people getting treatment, she holds it in.

"You suddenly make a lot less sense to me, but I'm not even sure what else to ask, so we can leave that there if you don't wanna talk about it."

Now I'm surprised. She's just able to drop it?

"Uh, are you sure?"

She smiles tightly. "I trust that you have some very thought out reasons for making the choices you do."

"So you won't tell him?"

Macy shakes her head. "That's not my place."

Oof, these are both hard but for opposite reasons. There are so many women's names I think are gorgeous, so it's hard to narrow it down to 3 I like the most. Meanwhile men's names are just really, aggressively bland 95% of the time. I can't think up enough for them! Here we go though!

31: a) Conor. I like Conner and Connor as well, but I favour the Irish spelling in particular. I'm fond of the sound of this one in general, but part of why I like it is because it was almost my name. It didn't make the final cut of course (no actual name of mine will be appearing on this list for privacy reasons, but I do quite like my actual name), but in some alternate universe out there, my name is Conor, and I think that's neat.

b) Ambrose. This one has a long, complicated history that I honestly don't particularly want to get into, but suffice to say it's the name of an OC I've been carrying around for more than a few years now :P

c) Cal, or any variation thereupon. So Callum, Calvin, etc. I'm not crazy about this one, but it's one that I keep coming back to as one I solidly like. I'm just a sucker for hard C's I guess.

32: a) Forsythia, shortened to Thia or Thea. I don't honestly know why I like this name so much. The Forsythia bush is a very pretty plant, but I have no special connection to it outside my fondness for the name. I just really like the sound. If at any point in my life I have a daughter, this is what I would like to name her. I would love a little Thea.

b) Kira. Yet another where I can't articulate exactly why I like, but this one has always stuck with me since I first heard it. It has a good balance of elegance and sharpness to it, I suppose. And yeah, another hard C/K name, big surprise.

c) Any variant of Sab, so Sabrina, Sabine, Sabina, Sabryn, etc. Something about these is just striking to me. Maybe it's that it almost sounds like they were derived from saber, which I'm fairly certain they were not, but the point stands. I feel like they stand out.

Okay, since ive been getting a lot of love for my ary lately, id like to give you guys some top ary blogs ive followed for years, that i feel they dont get enough love.

Keep in mind that these are not in order from best to least, just in numbered order to make things easy.

(Another thing! While i may have found the majority of these blogs from undertale content, i need you to understand that a lot of these either dont do undertale art as frequently as they used to, or not at all. So please dont go in expecting that these are all undertale blogs based on MY intrests. Thank you.)

1. @springbon-t-art /@thecoolerspringbon-t has WONDERFUL roundhouse like style, and her fanart and characters range from all over(cuphead and bendy and the ink machine are just two examples, she has so much more unrecognized works and animatics on youtube that i think deserves much more love)

2. @twitchydoodle i havent visted this wonderful blog in a while, but i have followed for a good time(lets just say for a few years lol) so i cant say for sure what art is posted there at this moment, HOWEVER, i CAN say that twitchy has a Breathtaking art style, and has some of the most interesting and fleshed out ocs!!! Definitely check em out!

3. @calcium-cat i know cals been gettin a little bit more attention over the last year or so, but i still think she deserves much more recognition for her art. She has wonderful and thought out fanfics, not to mention the funny and well drawn fanart she posts for them!

4. @glitchysquidd I dont pop in as often as i used to, but glitchy's blog is one ive looked up to for a while. Here you can find very well written fnaf fics and fanart, chill energ(not to mention hilarious shenanigans),and a very unique and distinct artstyle.(seriously broski ive used your art for reference so many time 😭🤚🏽-). I suggest you guys head down to the basement and enjoy the tour.

5. @meatygutsy oh gee where do i even start- this blog has some of the most unique and well thought out ocs i think ive seen in a very long time. The artstyle here and style of coloring and shading is like nothing else. All of the colors pop and go together just right, not to mention the well fleshed out backstorys of each character.

6.@glaucus22 while this blog certainly isnt as active as it used to be, this is yet another artist that ive used as reference for countless times. They have a very distinct artstyle, and put much thought into their characters and their lore. I highly recommend going through the art tags here and taking a peek, along with a reblog or two!!!

7. @ijustwannahavefunn another blog with VERY well thought out and styled ocs, and a to die for artstyle. I also recommend checkjng out their youtube channel, which has VERY smooth animations and animatics. Definitely a hidden gem.

8. @vrnicky is a very good friend of mine that is WAY WAY WAY too unrecognized. They dont get NEARLY enough love for the anount of love and hard work they out into their characters and art. Please show em some love for me!!!

9. @loupy-mongoose is a favorite pokemon ary blog of mine. While you might find mostly mewtwo and mew stuff, please know that this is because of this creators mewtwo comic. You may know what im takling about if you know about similar more popular blogs (@/xxtc-96xx @/mewtwoandme and more ) but what separates this blog from many others is their very very different story, and an artstyle that'll put you at ease. Not to mention unique and well thought out mew and mewtwo designs.

And lastly, for now at least ,10. @whiteartblood an art blog that i havent visted in a couple months. This creator has some of the best undertale art i swear. One of my favorite styles!! A very lovely and instantly recognizable artstyle(that again, i have used for reference...i dont even know how many times), and even better ocs.

Now i know there are so many more blogs that are deserving of recognition, but its late and i cant look up 50 usernames at the moment.

However, while you are not obligated to, I sincerely hope you go show these guys some love(and reblogs!!!!!!!) For me. These guys have been a very big influence on my art, artists ive looked up to for YEARS now, and luckly for me some of them even being friends of mine, which im so very thankful for.

Ill definitely be making another post like this, with more writing inclusion and even more deeply hidden gems that require some digging.

Favorite fic I've written

This is a really hard one, because I like different ones for different reasons. Sheriff Prower was probably the one I had the most fun writing, although Forced Perspective was interesting because the writing style was so different. I'm enjoying my Knuckles au Lost and Found, mostly because I love Knux and putting him with Callie is a lot of fun.

It's hard to choose just one!

2. How long have I been writing fanfics

This is really gonna date me. I started writing fanfiction waaaaay back in the late 90s, I'm thinking about '97 or '98 or so, for Hey, Arnold! Back then there was a site specifically for HA! fanfics, although I forget the name of it. It's been a looooong time.

I reposted those fics on my FFnet account in Jan of 2006. So . . . I technically started writing fanfics about 25-ish years ago. (Although there were periods I fell out of fandoms and went through some deep, deep depressive states and didn't write at all.) But I wrote some for Hey, Arnold!, Fairly OddParents, My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, before Sonic.

3. Best friend in the Sonic fandom

I have a super hard time making friends, I'm so socially awkward it's really hard for me. But the two who've been right there for me are @stillafanofsonic and @doomfox. Love you both! ~kisses~

(I'm also of the "I don't want to bother anyone" mindset so I rarely initiate first contact, but if anyone out there wants to chat, hit me up!)

4. Other writers I admire

Gah, there are so many. @stillafanofsonic, @doomfox, @skimmingthesurfaces, @chaoxfix, @appendingfic, @mcfanely, and a bunch others I can't think of right now because my brain's fizzling out. So many talented writers in this fandom.

5. Fave Sonic OC of mine

This one's a no-brainer. My only oc, Callie MacPherson. Yes, she's a bit of a self-insert, but honestly, I created her to be a contrast to the "perfect mother" the fandom has turned Maddie into. (And I admit, I'm just as guilty of that.)

Cal is flawed--she's sarcastic as hell, impatient, gets frustrated, has a bit of a temper, doesn't like to talk about her feelings, stubborn as a mule, and can sometimes act before really thinking things through. She helps others with their problems so she doesn't have to think about her own.

6. Fave fanfiction I've read

It is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE for me to pick just one. There are so, so many. Any by the writers I named above are great stories.

7. Most sentimental fic I've written

That would definitely have to be An End and a Beginning, dealing with pet death. Over the last few years we'd lost a number of cats, all of which we'd had since they were babies. I was missing them like crazy and decided to put that into a story. Writing is cheaper than therapy.

8. Fave Sonic character

Knuckles. Followed by Eclipse, Silver, and Shadow.

Calvin (or Cuphead, the Alpha Calvin), i used to think enemies to lovers = abuse and when Cal was still cuphead and SF was a AU of that game, i thought it was cute but once it clicked that it was hella weird and uncomfortable, i changed his whole personality (and then to a dog insted of a cup) to be an actual cutie and have a healthy relationship with Nyla

Amai is in second place, when i created her i was a 11 year old obsessed with anime so i made her act those cringe anime girls who acted too much like a child. Now she's the angry and grumpy mother that can break you in half <3

Design

Orange, first he was a common cuphead oc, then a doll, then a ghost for a brief period, then doll again, then he became a cowboy, and then my brain went like "SPACE COWBOYS" AND THAT'S HOW EQUESTRIA WAS MADE. Personality wise he was always the same

Nyla, of COURSE it's Nyla, people from tumblr already know i change her design a lot, that was since her name was Candy Milky, but her personality was also always changing, she grew up with me. From when i was obssesed with Cuphead, to when i started making SF and she's here now. Her personality became really similar to mine, either because that was how i processed some stuff happening with me or because i wanted to be the magical alien rabbit that went on adventures with her friends still having her flaws and room to grow

caledith is an original ship between cal (the best character ever created by my bestie @night-triumphantt) and my oc edith. both ocs were created for different interactive stories; cal is/was a commander in the exile, while edith was my first and favourite mc for the wayhaven chronicles. they romanced vethna and a(dam) respectively.

a year ago judie and i joked about edith and cal would be a hot couple, and then we were like. oh shit wait. and realised they would actually be perfect together? so we started sharing oc facts and imagining what their relationship would be like, how would it come to be, first kisses and confessions, etc etc... and ended up obliterating each other because now we're in SO deep that we can barely imagine putting them in their og ifs lmao

so yeah cue today, cal and edith have an overly developed romance which includes a lot of pining, three (3) confessions happening in the span of months, and a Lot of pain and tears (mostly mine, and judie's) not to mention they exist in SEVERAL different universes, including but not limited to: the exile au, music shop au, zombie apocalypse au, cyberpunk au, and more 😂 as you can see. brainrot. i am thinking about them 24/7 at any given moment of my life there's caledith bs happening in the background,,,,

For years it was used as a teething toy, then pounce practice, and now as a focusing element for prayer. There's a custom headpiece that @calamity-aims' Rishh made for Omura as well, adorned with crystals from Mandalore's underground cave systems, centered around the kyber crystals Omura found from the same systems - although this piece is typically saved for ceremonies or when it has to attend a formal High Council meeting later on in its 30s-40s.

🍑: That's a hilarious question, since its partners are all have a very wide array of personalities - the polycule web stretches far and wide, with love for every single one of them. Omura couldn't even begin to tell you its real type besides "you are good to me, you love me, you are genuine, and I will put the same love in with you", to sum it up into words? Omura fell in love with Anakin the same as it fell in love with Latil, and the same as it fell in love with Kimni and Sirajaat and Chomp and Zarthi and Jess. All of them bring different things to the table. // Anakin is like, this certain sense of intimacy and trust. // Latil is like the calm and the quiet that settles right after the sun sets and the moon rises. // Kimni is like a rush of overwhelming devotion, but not in the intoxicating sense - more like waking up for the first time to something you adore. // Sirajaat was the first time Omura learned to open its eyes and see beyond what it knew, see beyond fear of the unknown when it came to knowing someone else. 🍆: Omura is a very physically affectionate person, and honestly always has been. It's preferred to show its love and care by pressing close to others (if wanted) and purring to comfort them, gently "grooming" them or asking if they want to talk about what happened to upset them. Or just being a quiet pillar to lean on for a moment. Omura likes to bite and kiss and hug and hold (and lick, depending on who you are) when playful. Very much just!! Being present, reminding the other that it's there with them, rubbing cheeks or chinning against them, man I just think Omura really really likes holding people. A good small-space heater for the chilly, a good bed for littles to lay on, MAN!!!

🍰: Betrayal and/or being lied to. Cough cough. O66 AU. Omura was willing to kill all those it loved just to keep Anakin closeby, following him into Darkness and becoming his Grand Inquisitor, just for it to find out that Anakin lied. And boy did Omura fucking LOSE IT. Imagine that the Living Force, corrupted and twisted into a walking amalgamation of death and decay that siphons off life just by walking past someone .. who has taken great care to not physically touch you because it knows it will kill you .. has suddenly turned its cosmic eye to you and is in the process of tearing a wall of solid durasteel apart out of sheer incomprehensible rage. Because you lied. And you killed its loved ones.

synth my buddy synth is an iwatex oc of mine!! i dont focus on them enough.. dont give them enough attention.. smh.. shame on me.. this will contain some iwatex spoilers. here's their relationship charts that i made a few months back! there's an error in anemone's (red/orange girl) teenage thing. it means to say "vace's dislike of synth rubs off on nem"

some of this has changed, but most of it has remained the same. synth is cool. she's trans! which way? yeah! he realizes that during the game, so, sol can help him out and such.. he're younger than sol, also.. her birthname, which they like still, is nudibranch! dib for short:) then, when she realizes she's trans, she keeps their legal name (bc he's lazy lol, and as i said, he likes it) and then have a more public name, which is photosynthesis.

they choose that name because he's rlly a big flower guy. his job is agriculturist! and, florist in the side:) it doesn't pay too many kudos, but he likes it!!! knows all about the vertumnian.. vertumnilian? flora, and loves learning more about it!! however, you can't feed the colony on flowers. so!! their main job is agriculturist, they help maintain the land and all the jazz that agriculture involves. therefore, they're close with cal, and therefore, tammy!! i also imagine sol:) since their mom is head of geoponics
