Sometimes I think, would it be better if Spamton died with someone he knew around. Or would he prefer to do it alone

I think Spamton dreads dying alone. If that was the case then I think he would’ve given up a long time ago. A lot of his dialogue alludes to having thoughts about wanting to end himself and projecting a lot of his self loathing on to others but I don’t think it is necessarily a desire to be dead or die alone (whether he thinks he deserves it or not) but rather more of wanting whatever torment he’s been going through to end. I mean he gets really excited at the idea of joining the fun gang, he was looking for a new beginning not a proper ending.

If Spamton could choose who he had to die around I feel like he wouldn’t want people he knew personally. There would be so much he didn’t get to say, so much the others wouldn’t have time to tell him. The Addisons and him could never have a proper reconciliation, him and Swatch could never clear up whatever went down and he can’t get any closure, never knowing if Mike was safe. Imagine trying to ease into the light when the shadows of your past are blocking it. If anything, I feel like it would create unnecessary stress for him as he would want so bad to feel like he was around people that made him feel safe in his final moments but that just isn’t true. Not to mention the others having to deal with the fact the last time they saw him it was when they abandoned him and the next being him dying of almost direct correlation to it.

However, with people Spamton doesn’t really know I feel like it’d be easier, almost peaceful for him in a way. They wouldn’t have any preconceived ideas or feelings, nothing to get off their chest to ring in his head as he goes out. It would be shallow comfort but he would find that favorable to the intimacy of someone closer that would be intertwined with turmoil. It’s the act of care from a stranger, someone oblivious to his crimes that would bring him ease in my mind, the idea that someone could and did care about him again even if they had no idea who he was in the moment. It was something he craved for years, part of a lot of his motivations and I feel like he��d be more at peace dying around someone who pities him than someone that has guilty or unfinished business with him.

TLDR; I feel like Spamton needs to not be alone physically in death but emotionally I think he would like to keep things distance. In his last moments he’d understand that he is not going to get that closure he needs and would rather face dead with dignity rather than panic at what is left unresolved.

By the time you reached the half, Colby also got his legs under the blanket and placed a hand on your thigh. The movie went on but you were more distracted with the guys' banter than the movie itself, trying not to focus on Colby right next to you--who was also bantering. Your eyes went wide again in disbelief. "´Whats up'?" you replied angrily. "Listen Colby, I'm fed up with this. I'm not just another one of your girls that you can play and confuse, okay? So drop it."

Colby looked fazed now. He certainly seemed like he wasn't expecting such an outburst.

"Listen, if this was about the couch-" but you didn't let him finish.

"This isn't just about the couch thing, Colby. This is about everything that's been happening lately. The looks you give me, the things you say. Everything! I'm fed up, I don't understand you! If you weren't around, I'd miss you. I'd always want to tell you everything about out investigations before anyone, or anything good really. jevil & noelle friendship post

hi, i want to talk about how noelle and jevil would definitely get along well or even be friends! also how their characters contrast nicely with each other and could possibly have a dynamic as interesting and engaging as spamton does with kris. this is quite a long post, so yeah grab a seat lol. first off, take a look at noelle’s reaction to both of jevil’s items:

noelle likes horror movies, and jevil definitely fits that scary clown trope. the description for jevilstail is “a j-shaped tail that gives you devilenergy”, and it can be equipped on noelle. considering her comment, and how she compliments susie’s tail later, this could mean she thinks tails in general are cute (perhaps longer ones? susie is often headcanoned to have a lizard-esque tail while jevil has his j-shaped devil one. noelle has a deer tail which is pretty small lmao, kinda unrelated but i’m sure it could be for a silly reason like that, and in susie’s case, highlighted by her crush on her).

the fact noelle can equip jevilstail and say she likes an item that gives her “devilenergy” is very interesting too, and kinda goes along with what she said in the ferris wheel cutscene, how she wishes she could break the rules and be more like susie who isn’t afraid to do that. compare that to ralsei’s “i’m a good devil, ok?” and susie’s “figured i’d grow one someday” and you’ll see how noelle likes the idea of being “devilish” but is pretty shy about it as she mutters it.

now let’s talk about devilsknife. devilsknife is a susie weapon, it is pretty powerful and the name itself is already scary sounding. of course, noelle can’t equip it since her weapon type is supposed to be rings, but she doesn’t seem that scared when presented with the item, unlike ralsei who says it feels “too evil”. this is what she has to say:

devilsknife, as in jevil, smiles at her. now, how could she be seeing that? most people interpret this smile as the blade deforming itself to resemble jevil’s face, or his own smile being reflected in the blade. however, there’s a detail a lot of people have missed (as well as this little moment altogether which is one of few the indicators of jevil’s actual and current presence in chapter 2).

this is devilsknife’s description:

there’s a skull symbol emblazoned in the blade (which is a hybrid between a scythe and an ax, aka what lets susie equip it due to her weapons all being axes).

now, according to my own headcanons due to certain wording jevil uses in his fight, like “EVEN DEVILSKNIFE IS SMILING!” and “LET’S MAKE THE DEVILSKNIFE.”, plus how tasque manager has the exact same reaction to both of jevil’s items, meaning she knows it’s him/knows of his presence there - contradicting the common idea that jevil is not the jevilstail and thus not in the inventory due to his wording in chapter 1 - but still regarding the devilsknife with some strange familiarity which could imply she knows it is a weapon and has possibly not only met jevil but fought him before: “silly tail” vs “silly Devilsknife”, capitalized...

...make me believe devilsknife and jevil are not one in the same, and are only “fused” (metamorphosis?) in the inventory. while i know certain details are hard to portray in a tiny sprite, you can see there’s no skull symbol anywhere in the devilsknife’s blade which has more empty space, and given how it’s “emblazoned” it would mean it’s a printed/engraved symbol somewhere.

so my small tangent here is that the skull only appears once jevil and devilsknife are fused together and in your inventory. considering how scythes are often seen as a grim reaper's weapon and associated with death, having jevil become the actual devilsknife and clearly maintain his conscience would nicely translate into a skull symbol appearing. the “THIS BODY CANNOT BE KILLED!” line also gives this some more depth. given how jevil’s "mind" is chained to his "body", as he gives a lot of emphasis to his body (”THEY CRAVED TO IMPRISON MY BODY”) and the association of how his mind is “free” while his body stays locked up paints a grim picture on how he was deemed insane, yet found a loophole in that, and thus “freedom”.

scythes are also famous for beheadings. jevil has no neck, his head separated from his body. and bringing all that back to noelle, THIS is how he smiles at her. pretty morbid, right? cool as fuck too :o)

of course, these are noelle’s only direct interactions with jevil through his items, but i’d also like to bring attention to how her themes and symbolism go along so well with jevil’s, just like spamton’s go with kris’s.

kris is often likened to demonic imagery, aka their creepy red eyes, the use of the horns headband, how they have an interest in summoning demons due to their search history, and finally: king calling them "lightbringer" which is just what “lucifer” means in latin + that word itself is generally associated with lucifer, satan, what have you. noelle has obvious ties with angels: being called one by both spamton and pink addison while on a snowgrave route, her comment about growing big angel wings in the ferris wheel cutscene, the angel doll her and dess made which rudy keeps around as a good luck charm, and so on. spamton and jevil, respectively, are the opposites in that regard when compared to kris and noelle, so the contrast here is really damn fun to think about and explore.

another thing is how both noelle and jevil are incredibly powerful and involved in violent acts (though you know how snowgrave goes, of course), and how kris and spamton are in a very similar predicament as puppets who try to fight back. i believe just like how spamton and kris both managed to relate to each other’s despair and tried to help each other out (albeit in a very warped way in spamton’s case), i think noelle and jevil would have a similar thing.

lemme talk about something interesting in the snowgrave route. there is a pattern going on with noelle that is slightly overlooked, which is this:

1) a order is given by the player through kris, often “proceed”. 2) the screen goes black, the iceshock sound is heard. 3) noelle is completely confused about what just happened.

in the weird route, there are several times where noelle zones out, and while the moment people focus on is when she’s using snowgrave on berdly, the iceshock on the puzzles + the pink addison to get the freeze ring are very important. she comments later on how the battles are blurring together and how she cant remember a lot of details, she just followed "kris's" command and acted accordingly. a similar thing might have happened when she iceshocked spamton neo too, as the screen goes black again.

considering how she says “there was so much snow, i couldn’t see anything” after berdly is in the ice, i believe whenever she uses her power while aided by the player (and later, her own, as seen in the last puzzle where she does it by herself, leading to when she encounters berdly where she was just about to freeze him, completely on “automatic mode”, seemingly just waiting for the actual order) her mind goes blank, and she just acts as instructed. noelle might even look like this while the screen is black, which is a bit haunting to me:

going back to jevil, and knowing how prone to violence/chaos he is, i believe he would be able to sense her affinity for power and maybe even help her control it, likely for his own gain as he is hypocritical (strips the player of choice once you arrive with the key and refuse to open his cell), though similarly to spamton and kris, jevil could feel some kind of connection with noelle’s power and how dangerous it can be.

i believe jevil could help noelle get a hold of herself when using her magic and not just follow someone else’s commands, as well as keeping a clear head through it all. he’s pretty damn powerful himself, so he would instead help her come up with her own strategies and willpower, even if his teachings might fall flat due to his own insistence on having her cause chaos. i believe that can overruled by noelle's kindness and gentleness, and due to jevil's own influence on her (to be more bold and assertive, as she expresses she wishes she could be more like susie and break the rules like i said before), whatever "plan" he may have on turning her into this powerful killing machine backfires simply because she says no to him. lol his own strong personality boosts her shy and scared one so that itself is his own failure, i think that’s hilarious and a great character study for the both of them!

i headcanon jevil calls her "headlights" as a reference to how she's easily scared + a cruel nod to the “deer in the headlights” thing, which fits with his character who has probably a morbid sense of humor. noelle would definitely be intimidated by him at first, but i think she’d warm up to him due to her own interests in “scary” people, firstly her crush on susie and secondly her strange friend jevil who looks like a killer clown in the flesh. an easygoing, kind kid in jevil's life would also brighten it up :) he could definitely use a gentle presence in my opinion, i mean. guy’s said to be a loner, even if he had seam.

long post, but yeah! i know the susie and jevil connection is easier to make because of their brief interaction, devilsknife etc, but i feel like noelle and jevil being friends is very unique and more interesting to me personally. if kris has their scammer puppet uncle, noelle has the silly, slightly intimidating clown (also uncle coded) who helps pick out her fits for halloween and do her makeup. she also gets to wear out five hairbrushes on the wavy mess that’s under his hat, then braids his hair during the afternoon and shows him different hairdos, choosing the one jevil’s eyes dilated at. kris takes a picture of him looking handsome under noelle’s care and hits ‘send’ saying “ey uncle spamgton check out ur lover boy” while spamton tells them to “del3te THIS”.

Obviously, the main thing leading me to making this theory is Susie's learning of "Ultimate Heal" from Ralsei. It's a bit of a joke right now, as it barely heals anything, but I believe that Susie is going to become a better healer as we keep playing the game, and she will get items you can equip on her that help her with this, and Ralsei will end up becoming our main attacker instead.

We see numerous weapons equipable on Ralsei lower his magic stat, but increase his attack. The most notable of these weapons is of course the one you get from Spamton.

There's hints of where their development might go in the story, too. We'll start with Susie. Susie opens up more to everyone and showing kindness in both chapters 1 and 2. In 2, she acts a bit as a catalyst for both Berdly and Noelle's arcs, as this chapter centers primarily on both of them and their growth. Or only one of them if you know, you...

though admittedly, I think Kris does more for Noelle here than Susie, with Susie being Noelle's love interest harboring qualities that Noelle admires, and Kris actually helping Noelle face her fears more and become stronger. You know. In one of two ways, one less horrific than the other. HOWEVER, let's look at them more closely. In Snowgrave, it's implied that Susie and Noelle were up to something while you were away.

sussy. There's more dialogue proving this but this shit be subtle as a brick so I'm using it.

I think that Susie definitely did something to comfort Noelle here, and you know... comforting... healing...

Ok and now let's look at Ralsei. In chapter 1, he learns that sometimes you do need to use violence to solve problems; healing King is not the way to go. He mentions in Chapter 2 that fighting sometimes might be a beneficial choice to you, and you don't need to exclusively SPARE your enemies. While you, him and Susie split up, he learns sarcasm from Susie, while Susie, of course, learned a healing spell from him. Then we have the acid trip with him. Here's what I consider key lines of dialogue.

So, Ralsei thinks its cool that Susie is brash and abrasive, and he's still figuring himself out. That's what these lines indicate here. Ralsei is going to come into his own and I can see him possibly learning to be a bit tougher along the way? He starts the story very submissive, even stating that he'd let you hit him.

and in a genocide type run of chapter 1, he never acknowledges you, the player,'s actions at all, instead continuing to follow his script. In this story, Ralsei has shown that he lives for following this script, more or less, having waited his whole life for you and Susie to show up, constantly insisting Kris is the leader, when it's clearly Susie, and doing everything he can to hide the presence of this entity controlling Kris from Susie and hide whatever he has planned with Kris from you, the player, as we see him in 2 scenes so far asking Kris to close their eyes and imagine what Susie is doing, and then get cut off in the midst of a mysterious conversation when Susie meets up with them again- something that is definitely going to be recurring throughout the chapters until (possibly) in classic Toby Fox fashion, our expectations are subverted and perhaps Susie actually learns what's happening through a series of particular events. I think that much like we saw with Noelle, Ralsei will become stronger and might be forced to go against this script himself due to whatever circumstances cross his path, as it seems to me that him following this script isn't particularly great for him and so he will be punished by the narrative for it and forced to grow. By becoming a fighter like Susie, his development of becoming stronger will be reflected in the gameplay.

2. Rouxls will become more important.

So far Rouxls has done literally nothing but barely get in our way and be a huge fucking dweeb. Toby doesn't do that type of thing, make a character who has no significance to the plot, gameplay, character development or lore at all whatsoever. I don't read into the lore of deltarune that much to know if maybe this guy has some lore but its his weird ass face that has me thinkin.

that weird ass strip of flesh over his mouth. The meltiness kind of reminds me of...

yeah. I also notice parallels to Papyrus in his character, in that both are arrogant, both consider themselves important to a person in power (yes I know who else fits those first two things as well but hear me out the third and fourth ones are the kicker), both make shitty puzzles that are really easy to solve and both are pretty incompetent (sorry Papyrus) I think that he's not going to be a villain but that there's some lore to him we might learn later on that at least makes him a tragic character in some way since he's such a comic relief dumbass there's no way in hell anyone could ever take him seriously as a villain, so making us sympathize with him instead is likely the way to go, and we'll of course learn this stuff over in Castle Town since he won't be able to join us in the dark world (which means probably not seeing him until maaaaybe the end of chapter 3 depending on how it goes). I think he has some connection to Gaster, though, especially with the smile motif that is going on with everyone thus for who has also had a connection to Gaster. I also think he might have some connection to Papyrus in some weird ass way. Which leads into my next theory...

3. The Darkners somehow reflect the lightners. Not a new theory. Not at all. I know. But I have a theory coming FROM this theory!

I think it's pretty obvious that Queen and King reflect Toriel and Asgore. Both are divorcees, Queen is overbearing like Toriel, and just wants to make everyone happy, much like how Toriel wants to protect you in Undertale, and King, much like Asgore in Undertale, does things that are morally questionable for what he believes is the greater good much like was the case with Asgore in Undertale. Ralsei I'm not sure about though lol. I have a couple theories and I'll go through them real fast.

A. Ralsei is a reflection of the SOUL.

the biggest pointer to this is the heart on his chest.

this could also represent who he serves, which is of course going to be the soul, as Ralsei has shown that he is subservient to the player, not Kris. He was definitely created with the soul in mind, that much can be said for certain, and as we know, the soul was probably created by Gaster (I think? I gotta read up on that again LOL) so it can be assumed that Ralsei is as well. I think that him resembling Asriel and his friendly demeanor are present so that Kris can be comforted, but because its been made clear that Kris doesn't like Ralsei, this isn't actually working at all.

B. Ralsei is a reflection of Kris.

Most notable is his red horns and resemblance to Asriel, and the fact that Kris wanted to fit in more with their family. This is not a new theory and I've heard it before.

Now, I am who I am, so I'm going to make a leap in judgement here, and I give absolutely zero fucks about what any of you think.

Berdly's is Spamton.

Fuck you.

I'm saying it. And if I'm right, you owe me twenty fucking dollars. All of you. All of you that thought I was wrong. If I'm wrong then umm...

I'll just cry myself to sleep like I always do. :...D

Ok so basically here's the deal. What do these two guys have in common? Both wanted some weird ass way to find relevance. Spamton is a salesman, he wanted his shit to sell, make money, be a big shot, right? And Berdly...? He's a student. He learns that the way he can make it to have people's eyes on HIM is to be smart.

To find this success, what did each do...?

(might not be Mike but I think the implication is strong that Mike is the man on the phone that helped him...)

That's right rely on someone else, you got it right! Yay! Hooray! Gold star for you, honey! Not only this, but without this person, they would be nothing. Berdly states this himself, but hasn't seen what life is like without Noelle helping him study, but he knows that he isn't ready for it. Spamton is already without the person helping him, and becomes a nobody as a result. Both characters were initially ignored by everyone prior to gaining this notoriety and both are also shown to be kind of self absorbed. Look, Berdly is a sweetie, but he also does have a tendency to make everything about himself. Spamton on the other hand is shown to kind of project onto others, which in a way is kind of him making things... about himself...!

Okay, so what else is there? Berdly and Spamton are both killed by Noelle in the Snowgrave route. Both have similar features (glasses, pointy nose/beak, and Spamton NEO resembles a bird) and both are not exactly treated that well by Queen.

Both have bossfights that mirror eachother, even recycling very similar dialogue.

Both also have some involvement with Noelle: Spamton had the whole "friend finder" thing that promised to help her find Dess, and Berdly is her friend. They also both take advantage of Noelle in some way, with Berdly using her to get good grades, and Spamton helping Kris take advantage of her and kill Berdly which somehow allows him to find his fame again- both use Noelle to their advantage as both find success because of her helping them in some way.

Both are also being controlled by something/someone in chapter 2, Spamton is going through something similar to what Kris is going through and Berdly willingly lets himself get manipulated by Queen, both seem to be unhappy in this situation as well, with Berdly trying his darndest to see some affection from Queen who clearly doesn't give a damn about him, and also him mostly working for her as she threatened Noelle and promised him her safety and a world where they could be smart together if he worked for her, as she targets his obsession with his intelligence as a way to get him to stay on her side. As for some brief proof that Spamton's unhappy, if you even need it, Spamton says this line of dialogue:

I know it's a bit of a stretch. But fuck you :)

4. We aren't going to be constantly having a new "Snowgrave route" for every new chapter, and Toriel might not actually kill Undyne.

I saw this theory that Undyne and Toriel are gonna be the characters we hang with in chapter 3. Personally, while yes I do agree, Tori's a given and Undyne is likely, I think it'd be too predictable and repetitive for every chapter to have a snowgrave-esque route. Cheap, even. Also I'm totally not salty at all that you guys really think they're gonna kill my favorite Zora after they just did the same to my favorite Rito :( Undyne was my fave in Undertale. You can't do this to me :...( If anything, Noelle is going to probably be a recurring character in the game, and might be the only one to get a "snowgrave" type route. Or one of the only ones, anyway. She's constantly referred to as "Angel" which we see in the deltarune itself there's an angel on it

And on the ferris wheel she mentions growing angel wings. Not to mention that her being the angel goes along well with her Christmas motif.

Catti and Jockington appear to be characters who will also get roles in later chapters. Both of THEM are shown to have a relationship to Noelle. Noelle is on the track team with Jockington I believe, and she interacted with him on her blog, and Catti has mentioned Noelle and Noelle has mentioned going to Catti's house. It's also clear to me she isn't that close to either of them and Catti is kind of creepy, mentioning how she doesn't want Noelle to get closer to Susie as indicated here.

I think that because of this, Noelle might actually be important in the chapter where they get the spotlight as well. It is very possible Noelle might snowgrave again with them, though. It's just clear and evident to me that Noelle has not lost the spotlight.

BUT YOU KNOW WHO HAS LOST IT?! MY BOY MY BEAUTIFUL BOY!!!

5. Berdly is not important anymore and will never get the spotlight again.

(no fucking clue why it says "large" bro is barely taller than Kris and probably weighs as much as a paper clip but whatever)

Also he breaks his arm in one of the routes which means he's only going to be in the light world now and so any development he gets from here will be through his dialogue there in the routes where he lives. I bet it will be super cute and fun and stuff and Toby please make Krerdly canon I dont care if Berdly rejected Kris he clearly is out of touch with his romanceuality so he doesn't know who he actually does have feelings for and i think it would be very cute if he'd talk to Kris all cute like that ahaha... but yeah he'll develop more in his dialogue in the light world if you let him live which makes killing him more devastating to the 9 people who actually like him (aka me)

More proof to him losing relevance is the fact that he's the character who I think has gotten the most development besides I guess Lancer? In that we know a lot about him. I'm writing a story based on chapter 2 rn, and either its because I relate to Berdly a lot or because we know a lot about him that he's really easy to write. Us knowing a lot about him means that we might not learn that much more about him.

Anywayyyyy Berdly's loss of getting to be in the spotlight is ironic to his character of wanting to be seen and loved and so yeah haha rip my boy.

6. Monsters in deltarune bleed and they don't die like Undertale monsters.

Throughout chapter 1, there's a lot of references to blood. As well as chapter 2. ...

...

And Snowgrave being labelled as "fatal" indicates that Berdly is in fact dead when he's frozen by Noelle, and this makes sense because the route would have far LESS impact if he wasn't killed and instead just "fallen down" or whatever other theories there are. He's clearly dead. I'm sorry for our loss we lost a real gamer. o7

speaking of dr, there's something that really annoys me about how shallow the ship discourse around kr4lsei is. I'm not sure I'm 100% behind this for the same reasons i doubt toby will go full in with noelle's mom being abusive, ie "those are very delicate and complex topics to handle, does he have the time and space to deal with them in deltarune's story?" so take this with a grain of salt.

(warning for brief mention of incest, so I'm putting this under a readmore)

i think the discourse being framed as "thinking ralsei is presented as a romantic interest" vs "thinking ralsei is compared to kris' brother or like a family member" is incredibly stupid because those are... both true at the same time. yes, there's an unskippable "tunnel of love" scene, and it looks like ralsei could have somewhat of a crush on kris. but ralsei still 1) looks just like a dreemurr, 2) clearly plays, as a character, on our feelings and memories of asriel from playing undertale, as evident by their designs and their names being anagrams 3) i am 99% sure Noelle was going to say "that kinda looks like asriel" while looking at him eating cotton candy with Susie, and Susie herself suggests telling toriel he's "a long lost cousin". either way, if ralsei is meant to play on our feelings towards asriel, then as asriel's sibling, kris is likely gonna feel similarly.

are you uncomfortable? good! you should be. that's the point.

it's not random that the snowgrave route was framed and portrayed with the imagery of a wedding. first the freezering, then the thorn ring are explicitly compared to wedding rings. "we're just friends"/"we're something else". "YOU'VE BEEN MAKING [hyperlink blocked (...LoVE?)], HAVEN'T YOU?" noelle with whom kris had a strained relationship, whose feelings (platonic? romantic? we don't know) we brute force in what is the most chilling, manipulative, cruel iteration of chapter 2's story we could take... it's almost as if deltarune uses kris being forced into romantically coded situations they're deeply uncomfortable with as a way to showcase their lack of agency in the story.

and being pushed into romcom-like situations with a guy who looks like their brother works pretty darn well to follow that pattern, if you ask me.

now, if a forced romance with noelle represents their lack of agency in regards to the player, then... a forced romance with ralsei could represent their lack of agency towards Fate. The Plot/Story. unskippable cutscene, remember? not to mention ralsei's whole purposepilled shtick he clearly has a complex about.

this does raise a couple of questions about susie though, as the third option in the "who would you take to the fair with you" question, the one option kris seems to agree with, as well as being a character who is actively resisting the narrative.

because there's people who are very much FOR krusie, just as there are people against it, i doubt their getting or not getting together would work to represent kris gaining their agency back. and i believe i speak for everyone when i say that susie is going to play a huge part in that arc. either way, i'm curious to see how this develops.

idk! like i said, I'm not sure just how much toby is gonna go into this because it IS a very delicate subject. but it's an example of what i mean when i say "there's more to fandom than shipping" and "fixating so hard on Shipping Good Things" can be detrimental to analysis. I'm not cancelling anyone with this post, go on doing your thing whether it's kr4lsei or r4lsusie or krus1e. but if your first thought going into this was "I'm gonna ignore the part where the game compares ralsei to asriel because that would make my ship incest and that is Bad and uncomfortable" then... that's a very cheap way to interact with media? lol. sometimes being uncomfortable IS the point. god knows utdr makes you uncomfortable on purpose sometimes. ok rant over :P

Realization. I’ve noticed before that Asriel and Ralsei’s demeanors and impacts seem almost inverse of each other: even when Asriel’s been gone for months, Hometown can’t stop talking about how much they miss him, and how each resident had some unique and memorable bond with him, while a lot of Darkners, and even Noelle and Berdly, just don’t even register that Ralsei is there.

But it’s not just their confidence, affability, and memorability that’s reversed. It’s how memorable they are compared to Kris.

In Hometown, Kris isn’t exactly neglected, but they do seem to come second or have difficulties in a lot of ways. There was everyone in class partnering up before they arrived in Chapter 1, Snowdrake and MK talking behind their back in Chapter 2, Berdly calling Kris the third-smartest person in the class, Noelle and Kris being friends but drifting apart, the way everyone in Hometown won’t stop reminiscing about Asriel when talking to Kris, talking about their personal bonds with Asriel, or what Kris and Asriel used to do.

But in the Dark World, that’s completely reversed. No longer is it Kris standing in Asriel’s shadow, now it’s Ralsei standing in Kris’ shadow. Now everyone focuses on and addresses Kris, while ignoring and forgetting Ralsei, or treating him as a tag-along.

I’m wondering if this is meant to symbolize something. Or if it does, I’m wondering what, exactly, it does. Is Ralsei reflective of Kris themself, as some believe? Is Ralsei a reflection of how Kris sees themself, always content to support the cooler and more likeable Asriel, always awkward and blending into the background? Does their theorized discomfort with Ralsei imply self-loathing? Or do they want to be the cooler and more likeable sibling instead of Asriel, and have him be the supportive tagalong for a change? Is Ralsei created by their desire to be someone’s ‘number 1’ instead of being everyone’s ‘number 2’?

Either way, I hope it gets explored and explained in future chapters. Especially if Asriel comes home before the final chapter. I want to see Ralsei develop more into his own person, but I’d also love to see Kris and Ralsei’s interactions prompt Kris to have a serious talk with Asriel if he comes home.

However I feel like your angels are trying to tell you that you have been escaping too much recently. I feel like you are running away from your emotions or something that happened in your life that is bringing up big emotions for you. Maybe you are considered the strong one in your family and you feel like you can’t face your emotions because so many people are relying on you. This energy reminds me of when Kim K was talking to Kris about Kanye and she said “for once can everyone else have their shit together so I can have a bad day?” I feel like that’s how you feel and you don’t allow yourself the space to feel your emotions and when you do feel emotions it’s a huge reaction to a small thing because you bottle it up. Your angels want you to know that they see and acknowledge your pain and even when you feel alone you are not. They are always with you and just want the best for you, always. They know you need to cry and lose it, they’re saying that even of you have to let it out alone in a parking lot that that’s okay too. Some of you might benefit from seeking out professional help but you can decide that on your own based on your own circumstances. For example, “it’s for the better we we’re incompatible anyways,” or “I’m grateful that I even had this person in my life.” And while yes, that is a great way to think about things, are you processing the loss or are you trying to mask it with love and light? I feel like you truly believe those things but I do feel like you’re using them as a bandaid for a bullet hole. Your angels are proud of you for dealing with this so gracefully, however they do hope you are careful because toxic positivity can lead you down a road where you don’t acknowledge the other person’s mistakes. Your angels want you to acknowledge that life is not just black and white, there are many shades of gray. And sometimes even when something was great there are reasons it came to an end. They don’t want you to dismiss the bad things this person did to you even if they are small because you still deserve so much more than what they gave you. They might’ve been a good partner or friend but you deserve a great partner or friend. Your angels want you to work on some self worth issues you might’ve been dealing with since before this relationship.
