the air is fresh, quiet and comfortable within your little nook of the city’s botanical garden. a gentle breeze coaxes the warmth of the sun against your skin, and nudges you and your best friend by the slightest inch, as it passes by. you’re curled up the soft blades of grass at the foot of a garden bench, where ahead of you lies a little koi pond that ripples every so now and then, and the arch marking the beginning of the unkempt cobblestone path leading back up to the main route.

your head is in his lap as you thumb through pages that take you somewhere in the heart of cold Pacific waters, aboard a creaking ship filled with vengeful pirates, rum and heart-thundering adventure, when you’re drawn back by the sound of beomgyu’s sighing – loud and dramatic enough to make sure it did the job it was supposed to.

“is something wrong?” you ask, eyes still flowing along the sentences of your novel.

“maybe if you’d give me a little attention, I could tell you.”

you chuckle, then flip a page. as if it were even possible to not pay attention to him. but, you indulge him anyway. “but the main character is at her pinnacle right now, i need to know how they liaise between her blood-thirst and morality.”

you snuggle further into his lap and refocus your attention. a tiny smile starts tugging away at his lips. the way your eyebrows are furrowed makes you look like a blow fish. he had thought so the first time you met, too.

“this is the first time we’ve met in weeks, i’m the only main character you’re supposed to worry about,” he grumbles, closing his manga and putting it aside.

you fight a smile. when you first met beomgyu, you had thought he was an arrogant jackass. but now that you knew him, you knew there was always a little truth in his jokes. maybe he didn’t really think he was the ‘main character’, but he was a little upset that this was the first time you’d met in two months.

you set your book aside and turned over, resting your head in your hands so that you could look up at him. “i missed you too, you know.”

and you did. you’d make it through every week knowing that beomgyu and the garden waited for you. and it wasn’t the same when it was just the garden. it felt like everytime he left he took all the magic with him.

he looked at you, with those eyes that carry so many things they make you feel heavy under their gaze. “i miss you right now. as i’m looking at you.”

you chuckle and clamber into a sitting position, your heart doing somersaults. “smooth, gyu. you’re spending way too much time with yeonjun.”

“we’re going on tour.”

you freeze. then you smile, “that’s great. where to? i hear manila is really pretty—”

“for six months, (y/n).”

his eyes are now desperate. you gulp.

often, you forget that he’s a star outside your little world in the garden. that his friends aren’t only his friends, but the members of his group. that they played at music shows and flew to other countries. that they had a manager and stylists and a team of professional people that followed them everywhere.

that, that magic that beomgyu carried with him he took into studios and onto stages. that, if the city’s botanical garden was even magical at all, he was pretty much a mystical creature.

“it’s good, beomgyu. it really is. it means more people will get to see how talented you all are, and you make them happy.” you reach and place a hand on his shoulder. you chuckle, “you are the main character after all.”

he smiles, but it doesn’t quite reach his eyes. now he’s looking at you again. it feels like he’s telling you so much, like he’s waiting for you to tell him that you know. and you try and fight it, you do. but before you know it, he’s pulled you into his arms and you’re crying softly onto his shoulder.

when he places his hands on your shoulders and brings you before him, his eyes are wet. “i didn’t want to leave without telling you. without being sure that you know that you’re not allowed to be whisked away by some guy who reads actual books and goes to poetry reads or some shit,” he sniffles. you laugh and he laughs too, then snaps up and shakes your shoulders gently. “oh God. listen. if someone like your book boyfriends show up you better walk the other way, (y/n) I swear to God. I have a built in sensor, okay. I’ll fly right back here and kick your ass.”

you scoff, shoving his chest. “excuse me? what makes you think it’ll be my fault?”

“easy. i wouldn’t be able to blame him. you’re perfect, (y/n). get with the program.”

you face is on fire, but you flip him off and pick up your book.

he laughs with his entire chest and you can’t help but smile from behind your book.

almost as if orchestrated, a stream of golden sunlight sneaks though the leaves and lights up your face. your cheeks are red and your eyes are puffy. your hair is a little unruly, and a slight smile slowly fading on your lips as you start reading your book again. beomgyu’s chest aches.

he had always been sort of impartial to reading. he’d rather pick up his guitar and string together melodies. and when he met you two years ago in this place, he knew why. you, the way you smiled, how smart, kind and fiery you are— the way you make him feel— there could be no better fairy tail, no… what was it you called it? meet cutes? there was no better meet-cute than the person of your dreams giving you the finger for taking their spot in the garden.

he reaches down and presses a kiss to your forehead. his lips linger for a moment, then he pecks your nose and looks into your eyes which are now glazed over with just one emotion. and its only for him.

his lips brush your hair when he whispers, “you were mine from the moment i met you. i love you, nerd.”

tbh it kinda depends and i'm not always totally sure LMAO i'm a little all over the place with it. like a lot of the time i have a hard time deciding and i'm trying to create a classification system in my head akfjofijwe tho it probably shouldn't be that deep my brain just loves to cling to systematization and gets frustrated when it can't properly execute it lmfao. but anyways i shall try my best collect my thoughts and describe how i perceive my tendencies!!

i'll put it below the cut bc i always ramble lolol

there are definitely some ships where it was more of a slow progression and i had to eventually be like "yeah okay this is what it is" because it was getting to the point where they weren't going to leave. i could easily envision more in-depth scenarios between them and myself and/or lore that just seemed to naturally spring up and i just kept thinking about them all the time.

i'd say megumi is a good example of the slow-burn. he honestly wasn't the kind of character that heavily struck me when i first watched the anime and started reading the manga; in fact, i recall being like "oh great, another little hateful emo boy" LOL (historically they're not usually the type i'm drawn to). but i got to know his character better over time and realized that like. damn. i have rather intense feelings about this guy adjewoijfwof

toji and jean were a bit more on the "slower" side of development as well i suppose. and not "slow" in the sense it took several months or years or anything (i've only been self-shipping for about a year) but it was something i had to ease into a bit more i guess.

i actually hated toji at first but then the daddy issues kicked into overdrive and i eventually started catching feelings LMFAO and jean was my first self-ship ever. he's the first one where i felt comfortable enough to imagine myself with someone like that <3 i hadn't really truly done anything like that in years, but i loved his character so much that i was starting to actually insert myself in reader stuff rather than completely detaching like i used to. i could see myself with him.

suga, on the other hand, was the kind that hit me like a freight train. maybe it's because i'm more comfortable with self-shipping now, but it was easier for me to realize it and take it to self-ship level pretty quickly. not only was i obsessed with him from pretty much the first fucking moment, but the subsequent relationship daydreams have been insane LOL i mean i gave it a little bit of time because i hate the idea of being overly impulsive and irrational due to infatuation but uh. i fucking love him lmao

katsuki is..... *sigh* idk. he also kind of hit me like a freight train, at least with the daydream scenarios and whatnot, and i was hoping and praying it was just a phase (still kind of am) but i guess i've sort of accepted that it's not. or it's at least a longer-lasting phase than most lol idk. but i can't stop thinking about him and i'd rather just go ahead and call it a self-ship instead of continuing to try and wait it out or deny it. the brainrot is bad

ANYWAYS sorry for being unable to shut the fuck up as per usual lmfao but yeah!!! i tried to give some examples of how this shit works in my mind. right now i guess i'm sort of organizing things by how regularly/consistently i think about a character over time and with what degree of ease i imagine myself with them in several scenarios, but this is by no means the sort of parameters i think everyone should use when it comes to this. people should do whatever the fuck they want i just take shit too seriously sometimes and wish i could be more chill actually instead of trying to create a classification system for everything in my brain 😃 but here we are

“Meeting dismissed. Everyone pack your stuff and head to the ship. We will depart to Marley in 2 hours.” Hange said to the new Levi squad and Yelena’s crew.

Y/N was still in disbelief that they would be taking the fight to Marley, to innocent civilians. She knew that they needed to retrieve Zeke, but she wasn’t too keen on Eren destroying anything. She thinks it would make things worse. Eren on the other hand, was rearing to go. He had a devilish look to his eyes when he stated that he would transform during the ceremony. Y/N almost didn’t recognize the person in front of her. She needed to talk to him before they leave. 

“Eren?” Y/N knocked on his door. 

“Come in”

Y/N opened to door to see Eren putting on Marleyian soldier clothes. She hadn’t realized how much he physically changed until now. He was taller and well built. His hair grew out and he started to grow a stubble. His eyes. His beautiful green eyes seemed to have lost their sparkle that was there when they were younger.

“Did you have something to tell me or are you just going to stand there like a mute?” his monotonous gruff voice brought her out of her thoughts. 

“Sorry,” she mumbled and she played with her sleeves, “I wanted to talk to you about the plan.”

Eren looked at her with his piercing eyes, “You don’t agree with the plan?”

Y/N gulped and shifted on her feet, eyes looking at the floor, “It’s not that I don’t agree with the plan. The plan is to retrieve Zeke, Eren. Do you have to kill civilians in the process? What if they fight back? What if someone we love dies?”

Eren sighed, “Y/N, if you have any doubts, I suggest you leave immediately. We cannot have weak soldiers there to mess things up.”

Y/N’s head snapped up to meet his eyes, her own eyes brimming with tears. 

“Eren...you don’t mean tha-”

“I am going to attack when they declare war on us Y/N. That is final. We need to send a message to them. Yelena came up with a plan to lure their titans away and so do I. The soldiers here are well equipped to handle anything so I doubt anyone will die. If they do, they were being careless.”

Y/N stared into his eyes to look for any sort of emotion, but saw nothing. She was scared, she was trembling. “Eren I-”

“You need to stay.”

“What?”

Eren took a few steps to Y/N and caressed her cheek in his palm looking down into her big e/c eyes. “You need to stay. I fear you will get hurt and I cannot have you getting hurt.”

She looks up at him in disbelief. “No Eren, I can do it. Let me come wi-”

“I CAN’T LOSE YOU!” he yells and brings her into a bone crushing hug.

“Eren…” Y/N breaths as she rubs his back, “It’s okay. I-”

“Please stay here...please. I promise I will come back. I need you here. I need you safe.”

“Why? Eren, I can help!”

“You will be helping! If you stay here, it will help me get home faster! I also need someone here to make sure everyone is safe. Please?” Eren looks into her eyes and her see tears. His eyes are full of sadness and fear and it hurt her. She took his head in her hands and wiped his tears.

“Okay,” She say with a sad smile, “I will stay.”

Eren gives a small smile and leans in to place his lips on hers. It has been a while since they have kissed mainly since everyone was busy planning and training. Y/N and Eren haven’t had much time to themselves. Eren leans back and looks at the clock, “We still have some time left before I leave…”

Y/N smirks, “Let’s make the most of it, Jaeger.”

Y/N looked at him in shock, “No...He wouldn’t-”

“Why would he laugh if you all knew everything about him?” Connie pressed.

“Let us talk to Eren. Hopefully Y/N can talk to him.” Armin said.

“What if Eren shares the same goals as Zeke?” Jean asks, “What then.”

“The scouts have medicine that can turn someone into a titan..” 

“Armin” Y/N began to tear up, “No...”

“If Eren can no longer be trusted, we need to transform someone we trust into a titan and feed Eren to them.” 

“But Eren still has time left!” Y/N cries.

“We know,” Mikasa hugs her, “So that’s why we need to talk to him and figure out his motives to see if he is still on our side.

“We have an emergency!!” An officer barges into the meeting room, gathering everyone’s eyes on him, “Eren Jeager has escaped!”

“What?!” Armin exclaimed, “How?!”

“He used the War Hammer titan,” Hange sighed, “I guess his is going to meet up with the Jeagerists. We need to meet with Nicolo and figure something out”

“NICOLO! Stop it now!” Jean said as he held back the chef.

“She killed Sasha!” the chef cried pointing at Gabi.

“Calm down, we will handle her!” Armin said, “Y/N, Mikasa, let’s take her to another room.”

“I killed your friend. Killing me should be enough. Just don’t hurt Falco.” Gabi said.

“We aren’t going to kill you.” Y/N said.

“You can’t stop yourself from wanting to kill me right?” the little girl asked.

“No,” Armin said, “That’s all you ever talk about huh? Kill, kill, kill. You remind me of a certain someo-”

Armin was interrupted by the door opening to reveal Eren.

Everyone looked at him in shock.

“E-Eren...” Y/N sighed.

“Sit down,” Eren said showing a cut on his hand, “and keep your hands on the table.”

Everyone did as they were told, not wanting to risk and accident. There was a knock on the door.

“We’re leaving.”

“Okay.” Eren called.

“Was that Floch’s voice?” Armin asked, “You came with Floch?”

“Yeah” Eren said, “I wanted to talk to you guys in a quiet setting. We can settle Eldia’s problems without any conflict. Hange and the others will be fine. We’re just moving them.”

“We are the ones who wanted to talk to you,” Armin said, “We just wanted to know what you were thinking Eren.”

“What made you decide on your own to attack Marley.” Y/N said, “If Zeke and Yelena have really gotten you on their side…”

“I’m free.” Eren and said, “Whatever I do, whatever I choose, I do it out of my own free will”

“You met with the Yelena in secret the night of the rail opening right?” Armin asked, “Has this all been your free will since then?”

“That’s right.” Eren said

“You’re being controlled.” Mikasa said.

“Eren..” Y/N began, “You are not the kind of person who would involve innocent civilians and children, even if they live in an enemy state. You’ve cared for and thought about us more than anyone. Haven’t you? You saved us multiple times out of your own kindness right?” Her hand instinctively going down to her stomach.

“I said keep your hands on the table” Eren said sternly. “I hid myself in Liberio and spoke with Zeke brother to brother. I learned a lot then. Zeke knows more than Marley does.”

“Eren-” Armin begins.

“Armin,” Eren said, “You’re still going by and seeing Annie aren’t you? Is that out of your own will or is it Bertolts?”

Armin was taken aback, “what-”

“If memories play a major role in forming who the person is, that means part of you has become Bertolt. A part of an enemy soldiers that feels love for another enemy soldiers influencing a significant part of your judgment. You weren’t soft like this before. You never back to the enemy. Your judgment was always able to lead us to the answer. But every time you open your mouth now, it’s ‘let’s talk’ you’re absolutely useless.” 

“Eren…” YN began.

“Armin you’re the one being controlled by the enemy.”

“Eren stop” Mikasa says.

“I learned about the Ackermans there too. The reason you’re strong Mikasa. It turns out the Marleyian scholars still barely know anything about titans but what came about by accident from the Eldian empires fiddling around with the subjects of Ymir during its long history was the Ackerman clan who maintain a human form but in some cases can manifest the power of the Titans. Still the Ackerman clan was designed in order to protect Eldia’s king as a result the instincts and their blood will still activate once they recognize someone as a host. In other words you only cling to me because of your instincts as an Ackerman. You obeyed my order in that moment when you were facing death. Apparently when all of those conditions are met the instincts hidden inside the Ackerman clans blood will awaken. Not only did this heighten your physical abilities to an extreme, you were even given the experience in battlefield accumulated by every past Ackerman by way of a path. All because you happened by chance to trick yourself into believing I was the host you had to protect.”

“You’re wrong.” Y/N said. 

Eren turned to her with a glare, “Oh? Am I? How?”

“It wasn’t by chance,” she said, “It was because of you she was able to become strong. Because of you and your kindness.” 

“Apparently once an Ackerman awakens they find themselves suffering from headaches. They say this happens out of the true self trying to resist being forced to protect its host. Sound familiar Mikasa? What I’m saying is that the real Mikasa disappeared in that mountain hunt nine years ago leaving only you behind ever faithful to your Ackerman instincts.”

“Eren stop.”

“The clan who lost their true selves created only to follow orders. In other words, slaves.”

“Eren please stop”

“Do you know what I hate the most in this world, anyone who isn’t free. That, or cattle. Just looking at the made me so angry. Now I finally understand why. I couldn’t stand to look at it and doubting slave who only ever follow orders. Ever since I was a kid I have always hated you.”

“STOP IT!” YN slapped Eren but he slammed her to the ground. “Stay Y/N” 

Armin threw himself across the table and began to throw punches but Eren deflected them with ease. 

“Armin we’ve never fought before, huh? Do you know why that is? It’s because there’s no way you could even put up a fight against me.” Eren slammed Armin into the ground and began stomping on him. 

He suddenly stopped when a pair of arms wrapped around his torso. 

“Please... stop.” Y/N said crying. 

Eren looked into her eyes, “I will stop if you tell me where Zeke is. Or you can just come with us.”

 He signaled the guards to pick up Armin. 

“And what is it you even wanted to say?” Armin coughed, “Is that the freedom you wanted? The freedom to hurt all of us? Tell me who’s the real slave to a piece of shit?”

Eren gritted his teeth, “Who are you calling a slave? Let’s go.”

That night they went to the Shiganshina district. Eren had Y/N, Mikasa, and Armin thrown in a cell while he and his group made a plan to meet up with Zeke.

“Why…” Y/N cried as tears flowed down her cheeks, “Why would he do this?”

“I don’t know.” Armin said.

Y/N got up from her chair to lay down, but collapsed due to the pain in her stomach. She groaned in pain, clutching herself.

“Y/N!!” Jean and Mikasa cried out and rushed to help her up.

“Are you alright?” Armin asked.

“I think so…” Y/N said with tears, “But I am not sure about it…”

“...It?” Armin questions.

“I was planning to tell Eren when he got back…” Y/N said, her whole body shaking, “But he’s not the same person, I don’t know what he would do to me if he found out…”

“Found out what?” Connie asked.

“That...I’m…” Y/N shakes uncontrollably, “p-pregnant.”

“What?!”

Armin hold Y/N closer, “And that bastard floored you earlier. That can’t be good.”

“HEY!!” Jean yells through the halls, “We need a doctor immediately!! Please!!”

“Someone please!! Get a doctor!!” Mikasa screams.

“Hold on, Y/N!” Armin rubs her shoulder, “We will get you help! Just hold on. Maybe if Eren knows, he will-”

“No!” Y/N cries, “He cannot know. He must not know!”

“I can’t know what?”

Everyone gasped at the familiar voice. Eren.

There was complete silence and that ticked Eren off.

“What. Can’t. I. Know.” He annunciates. Y/N winces.

“Eren,” Mikasa starts, “Y/N is hurt. You went too hard on her.”

Eren skeptically looked at Mikasa then at Y/N. He saw how red, sweaty and pained she was.

“Are you so weak that you couldn’t handle a shove? I didn’t even do it that hard.” He chuckled.

“Eren…” Jean growled stalking towards the bars. He reached through and grabbed Eren’s shirt, “If you still have feelings for her, you will get her help.” 

“Jean…” Y/N whimpers, catching Eren’s attention, “Don’t.”

Eren laughed, “You care about him don’t you Y/n? Would you hate me if I hurt him?”

“P-please don’t Eren,” Y/N said, “He’s my friend, but you are special to me.”

“Then you wouldn’t have a problem joining my cause. If I’m so special to you.”

Y/N gets up with the help of Mikasa, still clutching her stomach, “Not if it means hurting my friends.”

Eren eyes her clutching her stomach but doesn’t move, “How will I know you are not tricking me to open this cell and you all attack me?”

“Eren” Armin starts, “You have three titans and could kill us at any moment. However, Y/N, our friend, is in serious pain. Why would we risk her safety to escape from you?”

“We will go to the opposite side of the cell.” Mikasa said.

Eren seemed to be lost in thought but hearing Y/N groan in pain brings him back to reality.

“Fine,” He said, “I will take her to get help. But if any of you try anything, I will not hesitate to hurt you.”

“Thank you…” Connie breathed.

Eren took the keys to the cell out of his pocket and unlocked the cell door, “Move.”

Everyone stepped back, leaving Y/N by herself. Eren opened the door and roughly grabbed her, Y/N making her wince. “Y/N!” Mikasa flinched, causing Eren’s head to snap up, his titan marks showing up on his skin. “I’m fine! It’s okay.” Y/N said as Eren quickly dragged her out, looking back at her friends in the cell with a sad smile.

Eren walked into the conference room gathering the Jeagerists attention, “I need a doctor.” he said in a monotonous voice. 

“Eren!” Floch said, “Why is Y/N out of her cell?”

“Get a doctor. Now.” Eren ordered. Everyone went out in search of a doctor while Eren and Y/N waited in an unoccupied office. Soon, a man was led in by a soldier. 

“Mr. Jeager,” the man greeted, “My name is Dr. Kim, I was told you are in need of a doctor?”

“Yes. Apparently this woman is hurting in her stomach.” Y/N flinched when Eren referred to her as a woman and not by name.

“Alright. I will take a look at her and will grab you if there is anything wrong.” Dr. Kim said. Eren nodded and left.

Y/N gave a sigh of relief when Eren left, which went unnoticed by the doctor. “So,” he began with a warm smile, “What seems to be the issue?”

“Please don’t tell him anything.” Y/N whispered.

“Excuse me?”

“Please...and do not condemn him. I am pregnant with his child. He does not know. My friends and I tried to confront him, which ended up in him attacking us. Hurting me. He cannot know. But I need to know if the baby is fine.”

The doctor looks shocked. “You must tell hi-”

“No! Not right now. Please doctor. This must stay between us.”

The doctor gave a long sigh and nodded, “Alright. But I need you to take your shirt off so that I may check.”

Y/N took off her shirt, and laid down on the bed. The doctor began to feel around her lower stomach area on her very small bump. 

“You have some bruising, but I believe it is alright. Have you bled at all since the incident?” He asked. Y/N shook her head and the doctor nodded. 

“Well then, I believe everything is alright. Please try to take it easy. Maybe stay away from him for a while.” Y/N nodded, tears streaming down her face, “Thank you.” The doctor smiled and walked out.

The doctor walked to the other room where Eren was. 

“Well?” he asked while looking out the window.

“She has bruising on her abdomen, but overall she is fine. I suggest you be careful with her.”

Eren was caught off guard by that last sentence and looked at the doctor. 

“Well,” The doctor said, “I must get going. I still have many patients to attend to.”

Eren gets up and shakes the doctor’s hands, “Of course. Thank you.”

When the doctor left, Eren went to the office where Y/N was. He slammed open the door to see Y/N laying on the bed with her hand on her stomach, startling her.

“So you lied.” Eren said.

“What?” she said.

Eren walked to her and stood next to the bed, looking into her eyes with hatred, “You made it sound like something bad was happening, but you just had a few bruises. You lied to me. Did you do it to distract me from them escaping?”

“Wha-Eren! I wasn’t lying!” Y/N said.

“What are you hiding?” Eren asked.

Y/N’s eyes widened slowly sitting up, “Hiding?”

“You’re hiding something Y/N. What is it?” Eren said darkly.

“I’m not hiding anything Eren! You’re scaring me!” Y/N cries backing into the wall.

Eren slowly climbs onto the bed towards her, “You called a doctor for bruising. BRUISING. On your stomach. Isn’t that suspicious?”

“Eren-”

“I will ask you again. What. Are. You. Hiding?” He ordered. His face centimeters from hers.

“Nothing...I’m not hiding anyth-AH” Eren cut her off by roughly grabbing her and slamming her back onto the bed. 

“Eren!” She cried, “Stop it! Please!”

“I will figure it out. What are you hiding…” Eren holds her hands above her head with one hand and with his other, he ripped her shirt off. 

“Stop it Eren! Please stop!” Y/N cried trying to kick him off, “No! Don’t!”

But it was too late. Eren saw the bruises that littered her lower stomach…and the tiny bump. 

At that moment, Eren couldn’t hear Y/N’s cries, only his heartbeat. Y/N kept crying for him to get off and to not hurt her, shaking like a leaf.

“How long…” Eren’s voice silenced her, “How long?”

“A-A m-month. Eren p-please don’t-”

“You weren’t going to tell me.”

“E-Eren-”

“You WEREN’T going to tell me!”

Eren laid completely still, letting her land her punches on him, he would heal anyways.

“Why are you helping Zeke?! Why are you hurting us?! Armin?? Mikasa?? Why are you hurting me??” Y/N’s began to tire and her head began to hurt she got one last punch to his face before collapsing on his chest, crying. 

“Why did you turn against us??” she sobbed digging her nails into his skin through his shirt, “What happened to you?”

“I am still me-”

“No you’re not.”

“I am doing what I need to do to to save us.”

“We can find a different way.”

“There is no other way, Y/N. I need to get to Zeke. I need to prevent him from keeping Eldians from having children!”

Y/N looked up at him in shock, “What?”

“I am not going with Zeke’s plan all the way Y/N. He want me to use the Founding Titans power to make all Eldians unable to have children. But I won’t let that happen, I will connect with him and use the Founding Titan to start the Rumbling to destroy the Marlayians.”

“It’s best if not everyone knows what’s going on so Zeke does not get suspicious.”

do you think that levihan comes off as rather one sided? a lot of antis say that hange cares so much but levi doesn’t care as much they do :(( i hate this because it never seemed to me that way but now a lot of people are saying this

it’s the funniest thing when i see these takes because honestly? i blame it all on studio wit and their amazing flanderization of these two poor characters in the anime and the several shippy manga scenes they decided not to adapt. if we wanna call things “one-sided” then it’s the other way around, levi has imho shown repeatedly in the manga and literally IN ALL THE EXTRA MATERIAL signs that could be taken as him having feelings for hanji, whereas from hanji’s side we can really only start noticing “obvious” signs starting from chapter 115. i recall seriously thinking levi might be interested in hanji as early as 2014 when i was a 13 year old like many many many others and tbh looking back i think we were all right after all considering things from the perspective of the most recent chapters. it’s like everything just falls into place after chapter 126-132 and you’re able to “over-analyze” certain scenes from past chapters a bit better, like the season 1 hairgrab requested by yams, like levi being worried and angry out of his mind in uprising when hanji gets shot, like the whole rain smartpass story, like yams giving hanji the role of levi’s only interpreter, like levi being worried for hanji in rts almost to the point of getting hit by rocks + screaming hanji’s name in relief on the rooftop, like levi staring at hanji and worrying about the poisonous water when he has the mf vastity of the ocean in front of him who lived in the underground all his life, and don’t get me started on the side materials like chuugakkou (which, as much as it is an au, retains canon character interactions) which heavily hint at shippy shit, character interviews, hell even video games. as much as they aren’t strictly canon, in a way they end up being such. extra materials wouldn’t seriously imply shit too much outside canon, they still have to retain the integrity of the original story.

but yeah, imho there’s wit flanderization to blame. they made hanji to be comic relief with no serious moments and especially butchered levi’s ova and their first meeting, plus made levi an overly cool edgelord with no facial expressions, taking out scenes for examples from the uprising where he tenderly looks at the mother with her baby and things like that, bc god forbid the stereotypical sasuke-archetype ever so present in every shonen is allowed to have feelings and scenes that don’t involve him spinning and using sharp blades. which is why anime-onlies will probably be confused when part 2 rolls around and we get all those lh moments animated one after the other. unless you are a manga reader, and not a speedreader but someone who actually takes the time to unbiasedly understand the characters, you probably will miss their bond considering the adaptation that took out almost all their moments.

in short, the answer to these people is “read the mf manga. If you read the mf manga, if you really wanna nitpick and decontextualize shit for the sake of dragging a ship, at least be true to the source material and see that it’s the other way around and technically levi is the simp out of the two” lmao but yeah jokes aside, ignore these mfs and LOOK AT THE CUTE OCEAN OFFICIAL ART

“Toxicity” in the BNHA fandom

[i know I tagged ships, but that’s because the ships were mentioned. This post does NOT degrade any ships that were tagged.]

So, I was heavily inspired by a post I recently saw where someone was talking about the toxicity in fandoms (specifically bnha). I agreed with the first half of their post until they decided to bash ships and become that toxicity. Rather than arguing with them on their own post I wanted to make my own post in respect to that persons opinion.

My Hero Academia is known as the most recent “toxic anime fandom.” While, of course, it has its people, many take that opinion way too far.

Warning: manga spoilers!! (Specifically ch. 285)

Why do people think that the fandom is toxic?

Let’s start off at the obvious answer, people don’t like the shipping in the fandom.

Of course, shipping isn’t for everyone and that’s completely fine!! But you would be completely ignorant to ignore that fact that shipping is apart of every. single. fandom. Not only the My hero.

The only reason why the BNHA fandom has so much shipping is because of the amount of characters there are in the show. And the lack of development some have compared to others. Claiming that people are weird for shipping the “weird ships” (I.e. gay shipping) but think it’s completely fine to ship straight pairings is completely homophobic. Don’t deny that.

People can ship whatever the fuck they want. Shipping is apart of every fandom. Why is it different in the bnha?

Another thing that angers me is when I hear people say “people in the mha fandom ship deku x nomu or deku x all might!1!!1” like,, no?? Wtf?? I’m IN the fandom and I have NEVER seen anyone ship those. Stop taking a ship one person may ship and generalize it towards everyone in the fandom. Because I can guarantee you, the average reader/watcher does not ship those pairings listed. Stop. Generalizing.

Another reason that people believe that the fandom is toxic is because of the ship wars that are definetly there. Whether you prefer Kiribaku v Bakudeku. Or Izuocha v Togachako (both of which have some sort of canonical crush interest. Stop being ignorant towards Togas canonical crush on Ochako!!) there are ship wars that exist, as they do in ever fandom!!

The biggest problem within those ship wars is the ignorance on every single side. As a multishipper, there are definitely shipping sides of the fandom that I prefer over the other. But, you can’t deny the toxic shippers on every side. Stop being ignorant and look at how people view your favorite ship BECAUSE of how people ship it.

This next point kind of drifts off a little bit, but it’s still important to recognize the stigma behind “bkdk being abusive/toxic.” If that’s what you personally believe, that is completely fine. Everyone is valid to their own opinion. But DO NOT push that agenda onto everyone or anyone. Especially if they are a new watcher/reader. Especially if you have not read the manga. I do not know how much I have to emphasize that. If you have not read the manga, do not give your opinion on bkdk. You’re just spreading unnecessary toxic information. We know that, in the manga, the two are mending their bond, even going as far as bkg SACRAFICING himself for Deku. Do not deny canon just bc you prefer another ship.

To go along with the “bakudeku (or even Kacchako) is toxic/abusive” opinion that was just stated, do not say that if you’re only saying that to further validate your Bkg ship. If he’s abusive/toxic in one ship, why isn’t he in any other?? At the end of the day, for the most part, he treats everyone at UA the same. Stop denying that. Stop picking and choosing. If you’re gonna insinuate that he is toxic, then he is toxic with everyone. Stop. being. ignorant.

Shipping aside, remember that not everyone has to like your favorite character. Personally, my favorite is Deku. It is more than obvious that Deku is not everyone’s favorite. That’s completely fine though!! As much as it does suck to see so much Deku hate, as long as it has a valid reason from CANON, then I respect that opinion. But don’t be surprised if people debunk your opinion if it’s because of shipping or bc the reasoning is really dumb (I.e. “deku is a crybaby!1!1!.” etc)

Another thing people do is go onto other people’s shipping posts or character posts and say “that’s cute but___ is better.” Or that’s cute but I don’t ship it.” Huh??? No one asked?? Stop it. Either leave a comment ABOUT the post and the post only or just like it and keep going.

It’s important to talk about fake rumors that are created in the fandom and how people take them to heart. Most recently, there was the rumor that Horikoshi cried while creating ch. 298. While that is of course harmless, it’s still important that we stop spreading those types of rumors. Another very popular rumor is that “Horikoshi said that he’s gonna make ____ ship canon!1!” Horikoshi has never talked about any ship in any interview. This has been debunked many times. Stop spreading the false narrative.

One of the biggest things I wanna address is the people who harass Horikoshi, which is absolutely terrible and is something that needs to stop. This is HIS story, not yours. Stop with the petitions, stop with the harassment.

However, its so important to recognize that this happens in every fandom. This is not only a My Hero thing. In every single fandom, there are shippers. There are ship wars. There are people who don’t like your favorite character. There are (sadly) people who threaten the creator. Stop saying BNHA is the only one. Because compared to other fandoms (I.e. Voltron who sent cupcakes with glass to the team) we are relatively calm. The BNHA fandom isn’t as toxic as many people think, so stop being ignorant and spread the false narrative because the only people who say that it’s toxic are the people who 1) stepped foot into the fandom for .5 seconds 2) hate the show. If it’s not your thing, then just ignore. Honestly, those who hate on the fandom are more toxic than those who are in it.

👶- advice for new writers =

yall this is hella fucking generic but PRACTISE. theres a reason almost literally every writer on tumblr gives the advise of “practise practise practise” and that reason is it works. practise doesnt mean ‘oh just write bc youll automatically get better over time’ it means ‘write bc if you dont, you wont figure out what you need to improve.’ did yall know that i literally had no sentence variation in the past? i started every sentence with [character name] or [character pronoun] and i didnt realise until i was 15/16 and i only realised bc i started writing a lot.

i think there’s a fear of failure with new writers. there’s this lingering doubt of  “what if its not good?” and boy howdy i will answer that question right fucking now. it wont be good. when i compare my current work to my earlier work, my earlier work sucked fucking shit. i spelled soldier with a fucking ‘j’ and i had no idea what the hell a point of view was. and thats okay. whoever tells you that youre going to perfect writing is a fucking liar. there is no perfecting writing. 20 years from now, imma look at the writing from today and im gonna think it sucks shit. writing is a process. its a craft. you get better and better over time and the way you get better is by experimenting w different styles, different genres, different ways of writing.

and the only way you can experiment and improve is through practise. in video games, especially rpgs (which are my favourite kind of video games), you struggle in the early game. youre at a low level, you dont have good equipment, you have a hard time moving to the next area. but the only way you progress is by grinding, gaining levels, and getting stronger. same w writing. if youre a level 1 writer, just starting out, no idea what to do, just experiment. fuck around a bit. write crackships, write rarepairs, write niche self-indulgent reader/character fics. at the end of the day, you should write for yourself. its good and cool if other people like your stuff and validate all your hard work, but at the end of the day, the one who should enjoy your writing the most is yourself.

you WILL mess up and you WILL struggle, but thats the only way you can improve. i struggle with pacing the most. still do. but others might have pacing down pat and struggle instead with word choice or pov or something else. cant figure out where you need to improve if you dont write, so just practise and worry about all the fine print later

⭐️- how do you get your inspiration? =

this is definitely not universal, but i just sit on my bed, close my eyes, and meditate. cycle through all my emotions and thoughts and filter them out. then i just toss everything out the damn window. like. id just meditate for a while, focus on breathing, on experiencing the present, picture a field and a tree and myself and breathe. thoughts fly by and i let them happen but dont focus on it.

meditating gives me some semblance of emotional control bc i normally have none, and it gives me kind of this space. this safe space that only exists for me and me alone. so i use that space to let the world drift away. just me and my thoughts and sometimes, those thoughts end up being good writing ideas. but i usually meditate for a set amount of time. like 15 minutes or 30 minutes so i dont write until i finish meditating.

then when i get out of my headspace, i open up my laptop and see what i remember. thinking too hard about something causes it to muddy up. same with art. in digital art, artists flip the canvas to refresh their eyes, see if there’s anything weird or wonky about the illustration that they normally dont see bc theyve gotten used to it. flipping the canvas is like giving our eyes a jumpstart and lets us see what we could do better. in traditional art, its turning the canvas this way and that or repositioning yourself. meditating is like that. a break. a cleanse. a kind of pause where you dont think about anything and just try to process what you already have. you relax and kind of let yourself float down a river of thoughts and sometimes, a fish would jump out of that river and youd go “hey, thats a good idea. i should try that” so when you get out of the river, youre refreshed and ready to go.

same principle with showers. more ideas come to you in the shower when you dont have anything to write with bc youre not thinking about it. youre not focusing on finding inspiration or motivation so ideas naturally flow through you. you know that feeling when you want to do x then someone comes along and says “hey you should do x” and suddenly all motivation to do x leaves? same w your brain. focus too much on “i should be writing” or “i want inspiration” and its never gonna come. just let things happen. at least, thats how i do it. some people might get inspiration by reading or watching tv. everyones different so if thats not what works out for you, dont feel pressured to try my method

💘- what’s your favorite AU? Least favorite? =

magic au. specifically fantasy au set in like a pre-modern era. shows like avatar where theres all this magic and fantastical beasts and so on and so forth. semi-modern like six of crows and nevernight are great too. i want that magic to be woven into people’s lives. harry potter is okay but there’s like this separation between magic and muggle. there’s this feeling of “magic” but like as a tool. like a spoon or a gun or a shovel. i want magic au’s that are INTEGRATED with the world its set in.

like in atla, earth kingdom people have trains they move with bending while fire nation people have machines powered by heat and steam. both correspond to their bending and makes sense for the world they live in. but if your plot is like harry potter and its less worldbuilding and more action, then there’s this book series called seasons rising (read it. so good) where there’s a bunch of spells but the spells have character. the people using the spells GIVE it character and it feels much more intimate. pokemon does the whole fantasy mixed w reality better. give two trainers the exact same pokemon and by the time that pokemon reaches lvl 50, its gonna have a different moveset, different fight style, etc bc it was shaped by the world and people around it. i like harry potter but tbh it could have been so much better

for the least favourite au, it’s A/B/O i dont like the whole “omegas are only good for breeding hurr durr” and “alphas are violent and aggressive and cant control themselves around omegas” thing and it squicks me out. major squick. i read the original harry potter squick (THAT one. yeah. you know the one) and i still hate a/b/o more. i get why people like it, and there are one or two fics set in a/b/o au that i enjoy reading, but as a whole, i severely dislike a/b/o fics.

the themes are squick, the character dynamics get so messed up, and shipping dynamics (bc a/b/o fics usually have shipping) just get so blown out of proportion. there are so many a/b/o fics that turn ooc or the character interpretations radically change or something else. no hate against a/b/o fans bc yall are amazing for writing/drawing yalls au. there are things that you can only do in this setting and exploring those things can be incredibly fun for people, but for me personally, its not an au i like to visit.

i. dont know what fandom youre in anon or your genre preferences. so ill just rec you one fic for a different fandom each with kind of different genres. ts masterlist is on my side @hufflepuff-deceit and regular fanfic masterlist is on my writing blog @crownonymous 

(BNHA) Viper. its my first serious attempt at fanfic in YEARS and its my baby. currently has 7 chapters, i havent updated it in a while bc im hyperfocused on ts rn, but i love it to bits. its just all of my fav bnha fics crammed into one fic. quirkless kind of villain izuku with stain as a mentor as they work together to bring light to the injustices of hero society and where bakugos bullying has visible and long-lasting repercussions? sign me the fuck up. you can read it on ao3 HERE bc its not on tumblr. kind of fast-paced, has a lot more action scenes than anything else ive written. heavy plot-wise but has a lot of humour and comedy to break things up

(Kimetsu no Yaiba) I Pray To God He Hears You. not related to my other kny fic oleander which is a multichap retelling au. iptghhy is a standalone one-shot and kind of a character study on one giyuu tomioka. i love him so much. giyuu is my baby and i adore him. so of course i wrote a sad fic focusing on him. well technically, the fic focuses on giyuu AND his relationships.  SPOILERS for chapters 130 and 131 of the manga. focuses mostly on giyuu and sabito, but there’s a fair bit of giyuu and tanjiro and urokodaki.  you can read it HERE bc this is also not on tumblr. also deals with heavy things but more emotion-wise since it doesnt have that much of a plot. loss. grief. moving on. survivors guilt. that kind of stuff.  very sad. hurt but with comfort, especially at the end.

(Sanders Sides) Logan’s Birthday Fic: Logicality. just what the title says. i wrote 5 different fics and published them all on logans bday but the logicality one received the most feedback and honestly? the cutest of the bunch. its gonna be crossposted onto ao3 but for now, you can read it HERE on my ts sideblog. theres no plot since its literally just domestic and relationship fluff. and puns. patton is in the fic, theres gonna be puns. nothing but good things and warm feelings bc logan deserves it.

Conflict post that got too long and title doesn’t match the rest because I didn’t plan to write so much

Please be honest: Do you think Conflict is an angsty fanfiction?

Despite the amount of sadness, suicidal tendencies, ptsd, panic attacks and even implied incest; I can’t bring to think that Conflict is angst. It’s just the story of two flawed boys falling in love in their most vulnerable moments and learning how to know themselves as they get to know each other.

It might be because I know the whole story, though, unlike the readers who know the first arc only. I mean... it’s perfectly fine however you interprwt their story. It’s not like I’m mad. I’m just surprised when I see things like “this is so sad!” I mean, yes, Ray is not going through best time of his life, but I think it is honorable. It’s honorable that he is trying his best, despite the depression blowing his mind. It’s honorable that Norman is trying to be a little honest with himself despite the chaos he is living in. It’s honorable that Emma sticks with Ray through thick and thin. It’s just characters trying their best, I don’t think it should be needlessly tagged as “angst” because I don’t think I write them that way for the sole reason of sadness. Rather, there is something I want to tell— something I want all of my readers to see.

But I can’t blame anyone since I haven’t written 3/4 of the fanfic yet. I haven’t shown you even a bit of the path I’ve already decided and mentally written for Conflict. I actually wanted to write Conflict tonight, but due to personal reasons I’m not feeling my best and despite my efforts to write Shotgun, I couldn’t write shit, and it won’t be good for my mental health to be in fiction today. Today I need my science and my facts (I say today but it’s 2.40 am and maybe I should sleep).

So, basically, I want to just SHOW by writing instead of giving leaks and stuff, but...

But...

You have no idea how much braining it takes to write Conflict.

Sure, I’m not a professional writer and there may be many better, smarter stories out there, but to me, personally, I put my best into Conflict. I give it all I have. I give it all my experience and everything I’ve learned until age of 21. It is a very condensed, artistic way of me talking about my life and experiences and observations throughout a fictional universe where it is not directly my life, but a world I try to represent in balance. So— to me, ever since I started writing first chapter I treated Conflict like my first book, I mean, sure it is a fanfiction but I thought “I’d give it a try as a hobby and if it goes well— if i can stick to it determined and if I get nice feedback and if people like it, this will give me strength to write a real book!” and BOY I got SOOO MUCH MORE THAN I’D EVER EXPECT, I even got FANARTS and people messaging me or commenting how much they personally relate or how much the fic helped them to go through bad days or how much they’ve seen themselves in Ray or Norman’s situations, and when I read those messages I can’t help but think all of you deserve to see the way Conflict builds up. You deserve to see how many times Ray and Norman are challenged, by themselves, by each other, and by society, and you deserve to see how they respond to them, and you deserve to see how much and how little of a difference it can make to have two people really love each other. Anyway, I went off topic, I was saying that, to me Conflict is a story I’m giving all I have got as the person I am today.

Other fanfictions of mine are moreee easy to write because they don’t have sovmuch in depth characters or complex plots and they are just that, fanfictions, in which I write a ship. But Conflict, man, I treat it like my real novel— which is technically one to me, though a non-profit one dedicated to the manga that really challenged me, and I have no regrets writing it or making it a fanfic. Anyway! Thing is, given the fact that Conflict is heavy, content and chapter length wise, I can’t always get to write it. I could, if this was summer, but this is collehe time and even though I really want to get going, sometimes I need to save Conflict for another time when I’m more available. Me publishing easy to write things like Shotgun doesn’t mean I’m available for conflict. The mental energy they take is A LOT different.

But it’s not in a bad-different way! I love both my fics! I have no regret over time and dedication I have for Conflict! I just, don’t have the time for it all the time, which can’t be helped.

It’s 2.49 am now. I really want to write conflict. First draft of chapter 16 was written two months ago. The scene is completed as a draft. But that scene includes a terrible pstd & panic attack about Ray and I just... /sighs/ don’t really wanna get in mood for something so gloomy? I wanna write more cute stuff like their awkward date on Shotgun... but I really want to keep Conflict going. I guess I’m terrified that given how fragile my mental health is right now, the content of Conflict might make it worse. I’d still proud to have finished a chapter. But thinking about writing about Leslie’s loss and its effects on Ray makes me shiver, because that’s a topic I’m sensitive of and although I almost never get affected emotionally from the ficsbI write (for example, I dont cry writing sad smiles neither do I smile a lot at soft scenes, I’m usually neutral and I simply enjoy act of writing itself) but the 1% chance that Conflict’s content might fuck with my mental health.. as if one last trigger before a breakdown, makes me want to stay a few steps back from Conflict and just breathe.

But I also somehow feel like I’m really available to write Conflict. I don’t know. Why do I care so much about Conflict, you may ask, since it’s just a fanfiction.

I think that’s because Conflict is the first real thing I’ve done (along with many other achievements that exactly started on the same day, July 1) after I got out of depression. It proves me that I can create something— get it visualized— and having people respond to it makes me feel connected to world. Remember the scene I wrote about Ray’s detachment to Emma’s calls? I’ve never gotten physically unresponsive like that, but there were times depression made me detached and to me that’s the scariest part... feeling detached. I feel as if I don’t post a fic for too long (assuming I’m in mood to write), or if I don’t go out/go to school/go to gym for too long, if I don’t meet up my friends or reply back to my texts for too long, I may get detached. If I get detached, I’ll think of dark, terrible stuff. If I don’t return world easily, it may easily slide into a depressed day. Or two days. Before I get back. And those one or two days are scariest because I’ve lived a YEAR worth of them, continiously, and god forbid me or anyone experiencing that. It was terroble.

So when I don’t write even when I want to, I feel as if I might get depressed. Not emotionally. But rationally— be being unable to do things I want to do EVEN WHEN I HAVE TIME AND SOURCES AVAILABLE FOR THEM would build depression up. I sm not saying right sway. Anyway. That’s why I care about Conflict. That’s why I’m staying dedicated. Dedication prevents detachment. When I’m not detached, and thankfully having readers interacting to me, I feel— or prove— that my work is reaching someone. I exist. My ideas mean something. Even if it’s just fan base, ie friends— I consider y’all friends— I mean, we are still kids, right? Most of us are 16-25 and that ain’t even real adult to me, we are just friends befriending each ofher oe so I believe, so like, even if its just with friends it means a thing. It prevents detachment. When I’m not detached I’m motivated. When I’m motivated I want to live. When I want to live I go out and do things. When I go out and do things I get motivated again. When I’m motivated again I write again. When I write I’m not detached. The cycle continues, see? Of coursw, writing is just ONE way to prevent detachment. It itself can’t carry all burden. Same goes for me regularly going to classes, going to gym, meeting up or calling my friends, etc. I’ve learnt that the more places you put a bit of yourself in, less likely you are from detachment. And that’s good. Idk, that’s why comments are important to me. It’s too personal at this point but they really, really, really help me to stay in connect.

So I want to write, so I can be happy, and I can interact, and look at my published chapter, so I can be further motivated to do things tomorrow... but it’s now 3 am and, I, if I start now I won’t be done earlier than 4.30 am and it’ll be cold and I’ll be brain dead, so for my sake, it’s better if I sleep. Msybe studying a bit before sleep will prevent detachment as well. I usually don’t EVER get detached, I’m quite successful at holding myselfnon line, but that’s bc I am careful about triggers. So... not starting conflict will be the best decision.

I don’t know how much time I’ll have in sunday but I hope it will be enough for a chapter update.

If you’ve read so far, thank you, this post went out of hand— but I can comfortably talk about it now because I’m over it, and I’m trying to rationalize the fact that me consistently updating really makes me happy and excited and having fun instead of feeling detached and it’s important and I just love my story and I hope you all feel content and satisfied when you read Conflict’s final.

I mean, yeah! For a long while in the manga I was like, okay, easy to say “oops I was wrong” now that you have actual proofs of the fact you were wrong and you can’t deny the fact that Izuku could make it as a hero since he’s into UA, easy to say “I support you” now that it’s obvious he can make it, using the easy way out much, but I’m always 100% open and supportive of characters that realize their mistakes and change for the better, so even if she had to wait for every condition to be in her favor before she could realize her mistake as long as she got it, that she had finally decided to be a supportive mother I was!!! Super happy for her and about it and ready to like her as much as possible! 

And then she had to go and tell Izuku she wasn’t letting him back into UA. Like, don’t get me wrong, I understand the fear for his life she has as a mother - she didn’t have fifteen years like everyone else to get used to the fact that her boy was set on becoming a hero (...since she refused to acknowledge the possibility, even though Izuku was working to become one without a quirk anyway like, she should have been even more worried for his safety before he got the quirk but WHATEVER) so she’s scared for him, and Izuku’s been hurt a lot since starting UA so I get it, but you don’t just pull the “I’m pulling him out of school” card, in front of Izuku’s teacher, mentor AND greatest hero, without ever discussing the thing with Izuku first? Without even asking for his imput on the matter, or giving him an heads up? As if she owns his whole life? 

I’m your mother I decide what’s best for you and what you want doesn’t matter at all - that’s.... that’s not growing up and learning, and that’s the literal opposite of being supportive. That’s allowing your son to have fun as long as it’s okay with you, and then going “okay, game’s done, who cares that you finally found a way to reach your goal, a place you belong to and are way happier than I’ve ever seen you before, I don’t like it so you can’t keep going”

I’m sorry, but I really, really can’t like Inko if she keeps on being like that. She’s literally the biggest hindrance on Izuku’s path to a fulfilling, happy life, and I need her to stop being like that before I can actually change my mind about her orz

Oh, yeah, that too! As long as you stick to mangastream’s translations they’re a bit more literal, but there’s a lot of things that Bakugou says/does that are just... a localization to give the “rude” feeling. Then again, he is an asshole, so you never know what he actually said and what’s just a liberal interpretation haha

no it’s not about weed my dad used to call me ricekrispies because of how easily i can crack a lot of my joints. he said i “snap crackle and pop”. so that’s me !

my absolute fave iwaoi piece that i’ve written, Learning to Walk (So that We Can Run) i’m so proud of it and so glad that it’s gotten so much love

it’s a manga cap of oikawa going “so fun~” bc i love my son xD

i’ve had a few people who will like, go through and read all my stuff in one go? and tbh i don’t get a lot of comments so really my favorite is everyone who decides to actually comment xD

There’s like. so many. i have literally over a hundred haikyuu fics bookmarked alone.

according to ao3 i have 12 pages of subscriptions xD some of those have been abandoned i fear but i refuse to unsubscribe in case they return from the dead! bookmarks i have..... idk probably about 200 across all fandoms? the majority of that is haikyuu, but my yoi collection is growing.

7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?

i’m not really sure... lately i’ve been working on a lot of trans hc’s, but of my published stuff idk if there’s really a pattern

I just want to get more stuff written and published! i have so many more ideas than what i’ve actually put out there because I tend to bite off more than i can chew with some AUs...

i feel like i write majority iwaoi but of my published stuff it’s only 5/14 haikyuu fics?? xD my drafts folder, on the other hand.... i have a couple “rarepair” ships that i’ve written for (kurodai, hanamatsu) but i think the majority is popular ships

usually write them down, but sometimes i like to leave them in my head while i kind of play with different ideas, before it becomes a solid story

probably through tumblr? bc i was living my life on ff.net until suddently ao3 was like. everywhere xD

19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?

i don’t really remember? i’ve been writing (non-fandom) since i was a kid, but i don’t know what got me started. childhood is kinda hazy for me D: now, my friends have been a huge inspiration to keep me going, helped beta things for me, bounce ideas around... that kind of thing :)

20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?

start small. i mean yes, there are people who are successful at like “this is my first fic ever! it’s an 80k wip!!” but i highly recommend starting with shorter stuff. get a feel for world building, character development (esp if it’s original writing!), and oh my gosh endings ?? the worst.

also just write what you love. if you want to hc everyone in the entire show as a bunch of trans gay people, then do it. who cares if that’s “unrealistic”. who cares! if it makes you happy, do it.

21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?

depends. for short one shots, it’s usually like “oh what if this happened!” and then i just write it all out. for longer things or multi-chapters, i like to outline where i’m going, major plot points, etc. for my longest fic to date (152k) i had a separate like 20k document of backstory, character info, etc.

22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?

happily, no. i’ve had a couple of comments with like, suggestions or polite criticism, but never of the work in general and always really kind and well-meaning.

23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)

smut continues to be a challenge, tho i like to think i’m getting better at it? and angst. i love to read it, but i don’t think i’m so good at writing it.

24. What story(s) are you working on now?

currently editing my nanowrimo project, rising, which i have now posted chapter 1 of!

25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?

i have so many pans in the fire it’s crazy but i do prioritize one particular story at a time

26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?

honestly no. during nanowrimo i did, but i’m in grad school and unfortunately personal writing has taken a back seat to that

27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?

oh my gosh yes yes yes. a million times. i started when i was like. a child. i have read some of my old stuff and Y I K E S. cringey.

28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?

definitely my knee surgery recovery fic, but followed closely by an original piece i wrote about my mental illness.

29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?

um anything i wrote for the bbc sherlock fandom i orphaned many moons ago. xD

30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?

i want to get back into a little of my original stuff again, but hopefully continue writing fanfic.

31. What is the easiest thing about writing?

sometimes when you just get into the flow of it and it feels like no time has passed but you’ve written like 4k in one go xD

32. What is the hardest thing about writing?

endings. i don’t know how to finish a story. two of my nanowrimo projects (original fiction) just. are sitting on my comp. unfinished. it hurts :(

33. Why do you write?

because i think language is amazing and i like bending it to what i want to express

1. Please, introduce yourself:     Ramen 2. Outside Makai Ouji, what are your (main) fandoms?     Nurarihtyon no Mago, Noblesse, Naruto, Bleach, K, Illegal Rare and many more tbh but for now this. 3. Now, let’s talk about Makai Ouji! Have you only watched the anime, or did you also read the manga?    Pppsshhh, I’ve re-watched the anime countless times and read manga x number of times. It’s lovely <3 4. Tell us how you discovered Makai Ouji!       I saw a gif on tumblr that looked nice, that scene where Dantalion kisses Williams hand in episode three, and from there all this hell happened. xD I remember at that time there were only 2 episodes out so I was sad that I had to wait for the new ones. QuQ 5. Have you meet friends in the fandom?     YES!!!!! MANY AND I LOVE THEM ALL THEY SO PRECIOUS OMG! 6. Who is your favourite character? Why?     There are so many great characters, but if I had to choose, then for me that is my dear child William Twining, I RP him for a reason. :D <3 7. Tell us about three other characters you love:      DANTALION, CAMIO, SYTR, KEVIN, BAPHOMET! HOW can I choose!? But I love them all, not to mention we still get new characters as well so that may change. Still there’s so much going on with them, and they deal with a lot as well, but in a way I still see so many similarities between them and their respective homes. I’ll leave it at that to avoid any possible spoilers. 8. Any character you like less? Why?     Not really, OH WAIT, Empusa and Baaalberith. [idk if I spelled their names right but ya] There are reason, first after what happened to Baphomet, next the treatment of Sytry. He deserves HAPPINESS!! 9. Do you relate to a character? Which one?     William to a certain degree. <3 10. Who do you ship together? Why?     DanWill, LuciWill. Dan and Will bc I think its cute, I mean Dantalion, though he’s not alone, really care about William so much and just, it’s so precious to see the lengths they’re willing to go to make sure he’s happy and safe. Something that to me William hasn’t understood completely since he’s still a child. LuciWill started as a crack ship, and then something happened and I ship it so hard you have no idea!  There are other ships but for now I will leave it at that. <3   11. What about platonic relationships?        To me, WilliamIsaac, WilliamKevin, WilliamhumanKevin, WilliamMathers, WilliamCamio. There’s this nice bond of friends, family and mentor and just its cute okay? I love it. 12. Your favourite scene (or Pillar)?       There are so many to be honest, but I will choose one that I thought was always funny. The first meeting between Dantalion and William, it was so funny omg. 13. If you could change something about the story, would you? If yes, what would you change?       Tbh I’m not so sure, maybe release a bit more about the past? There are still some questions that need answers, but I also know that they are necessary and helps in keeping readers here, I can’t really explain well. One thing that has bugged me though is the lack of interference from the Hand of God, since they’re pretty much the exorcist in the series but rarely appear? Hmmm.. 14. Which scene of the manga haven’t been animated you would have wished to see animated?     THE MEETING BETWEEN WILLIAM AND ASTAROTH! I AM STILL SALTY ABOUT THAT BC AHASFJEWKGMRK!!!! 15. 1. Talk about the first ship you ever had

Mm.. well the first ship I ever had would be 5980/8059. That’s Gokudera Hayato/Yamamoto Takeshi from Katekyo Hitman Reborn. It’s a funny story really because before them, I wasn’t aware of this whole fandom thing or shipping. I had this thing for silver-haired characters which made me watch khr in the first place and I immediately fell in love with Gokudera. I ended up reading a bunch of fics (first time I found out about and read fanfiction too) and there were a lot of Gokudera x Reader fics but I didn’t enjoy how personal and self-inserted the x Reader fics were, but I did enjoy the way he was written. This dates back to reading fic on LiveJournal, Lunaescence, some Dream fanfiction website (I forgot the name djfs), FF and Wattpad. I don’t read fics on these sites anymore lol. Anyway, I wanted to write my own fic mainly just because I wanted to write Gokudera so I wrote a Gokudera x Reader fic and to this day, it still gets a lot of likes and reviews (I’m embarrassed by it, but who isn’t embarrassed of their first fic?). After that, I ran out of fics to read and I started seeing this 8059 every time I searched for more fic and when I googled what that was I came across the pairing. I was so intrigued that I thought I’d read a fic (I had no idea what shipping was lol) and the very first one was Cigarettes and Cinnamon by LindenMae. It was so good that I was convinced these two belonged together, so I read more and more and eventually came across many amazing fics. (Across the Universe by Doomcake being my ultimate favourite fic in the fandom; it’s so true to their characters, so real and it has made me laugh and cry and just. It really is the perfect fic. [also if you’re reading this, I noticed you updated and I swear I am gonna read the shit out of that chapter just as soon as I get the time. I’M SO EXCITED!!]) I went back and rewatched the anime, read the manga and it was like I could see all these things that made it so obvious they were meant for each other. I fell in love with them. Then I started reading meta and I found out there was a community for this, thus entering the world of fandom. I met many great people, many brilliant authors and it was a pleasant experience, most of the time. Now, a few years later, I may not be active in the fandom anymore, but that’s the ship that started everything, that’s the ship that led me to know so many amazing people that it’ll always be a part of me. 

2. Talk about three of the most important ships throughout your life.

Well we’ve already talked about 8059, I don’t need to tell ya’ll how perfect I think they are for each other. I can’t really say that any ship I’ve shipped has ever come close in comparison? The ship is important to me on a personal level but since then, I haven’t really had much of a personal connection with ships especially since I don’t tend to ship often. Also, I’ve only been shipping for about five years now so it’s not like I’ve had much time to rack up a list. I suppose second on the list would be Aomine/Kagami from Kuroko no Basuke, since I’ve written a lot for them as well but since then, I’ve come to see connections with Aomine and Kise and I ship them too, as well as ship all three of them together so I’ve been conflicted a lot throughout that ship but again, shipping them I’ve met many great people in both fandoms and wouldn’t change who I ship or the process for anything tbqh.

The last one would probably have to be… whew I have a bad memory so I’m probably forgetting a lot, but Galahad/Hausen from Gangsta. comes to mind, simply because my friends and I created that ship and from it formed a small fandom which dragged a lot of amazing, unsuspecting people into the loop. For that I feel very proud and grateful even if the hype didn’t last that long. I think that’s what makes it special? There were no wars, no discourse. Everyone collectively agreed that despite there not being much material to base the ship off, they made a lot of sense together? I still ship them and I really wish that the manga would resume so I could see them again and the fandom could be active once more.

3. What’s your current OTP?

Uh hm.. current otps. Well I don’t have many from current shows since I’ve taken a break from fanfiction writing and reading as well from watching anime. Most of my current ships are JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure related; that’s the first fandom I got hooked on since KHR. KnB and Gangsta. But even so, my ship tastes vary and change often and the list is too long to type tbh lol. I’d have to say I’m still shipping my old ships you can find on my ship wall. I guess I’m pretty set in my ways. Maybe it’s bc I’m old lol. Nah, I just view shipping differently. Not every anime/movie/show needs to have a romance especially when it doesn’t make sense, but that’s just my opinion.

20. Talk about a ship you feel alone in shipping.

Hm… I don’t know if there are any? I’ve always managed to drag someone along with me into a ship so there’s never been a time where I don’t feel alone. As far as rare pairs go, Galahad/Hausen would probably have to be the closest thing to it, although Matsukawa/Hanamaki from Haikyuu!! comes close but the fandom is so big, there are people out there that love them. I try not to get involved in big fandoms. I like staying in my own little bubble of ships that I enjoy, so even if I was alone in shipping them, it would never really feel that way.

26. Have you noticed a pattern in your shipping? Is there a romantic dynamic you’re more drawn to?

Probably? I tend to like the pairings where at least one of the characters has a tragic story? Simply because these are the characters I seem to love the most in anything, they tend to end up being one-half of a ship. Especially if their other half is in some way their saviour. But then there are a few ships – the bro-ships – that I really love too. The ships where they’re both just so in sync, two halves of the same whole, etc.

And then there are my guilty pleasure ships which tend to be non-healthy relationships to which I won’t advertise bc I wouldn’t want to have the Moral Ship Police come crashing into my inbox.
