The Final Goodbye
You're in one of the outdoor gardens watering the roses. It's a crisp sunny afternoon, and Cacoph is still asleep in the living room. You knew you took too much when he let you drink from him, and despite him repeatedly telling you that it's okay, you feel anything but. Tuuya taught you how to feed without downing your victim (Well, "donor" is probably the better word in this case). You know better than to take more than you should, dammit. With a sigh, you decide you'll apologize to him for the million and first time when he wakes up this evening.
For now, though, the gardens, trees, and shrubs needs your attention. You move from the rose garden to the vegetable garden when the sound of a familiar voice causes you to freeze and drop the watering can, which clatters to the ground and spills its contents all over the ground and your feet.
"Hey, bud. You wanna talk?"
You look over your shoulder, and standing there is none other than Karima in her signature black shirt, jeans, and purple hoodie with her wild hair shaved down on one side of her head. Her eyes are a stark empty white, but she otherwise looks exactly as you remember when you last saw her alive. Your legs quake as you turn to face her, and without a thought you run to her with your arms outstretched. Your legs give out on you after only a couple of feet, but your moirail is there to catch you when you fall and takes you into her arms.
The wailing sobs in your throat are impossible to stifle, and you cling to her so tightly that your claws tear holes into her jacket. However, she doesn't mind at all as she takes a seat in the warm grass and pulls you into her lap. The position is one so familiar and comforting to you, one you've missed so much, that your bawling increases to near hysterical levels, and your glow is all but blinding. However, she stills holds you close to her and pets your hair and hums to you like she always did when your emotional regulation failed.
She's here. She's here, and you can hold her and hear her. You'd burn the world to make this last forever.
You don't know how much time passes before your able to form words through your hiccuping sobs. It feels simultaneously like it's been hours but also only a few minutes.
"I'm-- I'm s-sorry! I'm so sorry! It's all-- It's all my fault! If I didn't-- If I hadn't killed Allmah s-she wouldn't have-- Fuck, I'm so sorry! It's all my fault!! I-- I'm so-- Karima I-- It's my fault! I'm so sorry!! I--!" You're barely coherent through your ugly cries, but she understands you completely like only she can. She holds you tight, holds you closer, and you sob into her and soak the front of her shirt with your seemingly endless tears.
"You didn't do anything wrong, Sunflower. This is Allmah's fault, not yours. Nothing she does is ever your fault. Please, please forgive yourself," she says as she runs her fingers through your hair. Despite your bawling, you hear her clearly and perfectly. Your crying only pauses when you feel drops of moisture land on the top of your head. You pull away and look up at her face to see tears running down her cheeks.
"But-- But if I hadn't killed her--" you start, but she presses a single finger to your lips to stop you.
"Then you would still be held hostage in her hive, and she would have probably killed me anyways. She's always had it out for me for 'stealing you' from her. Besides, if I had to choose between living while you're in pain, and dying knowing you're safe, I'd die a million times."
"You shouldn't have died at all," you respond and reach up to wipe her tears away. She leans into your touch, and you swear you're going to start crying again. You try to lean into her again, but she gently takes you by the shoulders and pushes you back just enough to keep looking at her face. More tears fall down as she looks down at you suddenly serious.
"Sunflower... You don't want to hear this, but you have to move on," she states, the ache in her heart palpable in her words. You stare at her in mild disbelief before your face crumples in heartache of your own.
"Wha-- N-no! I don't want to forget you! You saved my life, not just from Allmah but every time I tried to end it! You made me want to stay alive! You--" you start desperately pleading, but she once again gently presses a finger to your lips, and you silence yourself.
"I'm not saying you have to forget about me, but you can't keep living like this. Every day and night, you're completely miserable. Your light's so dim now it's like you aren't you anymore, and you can't imagine how badly it hurts to see you like this," she explains, and her breath hitches as she restrains the urge to start crying herself.
A hard lump forms in your chest as she speaks, and she's right: You don't want to hear this. Hearing your dead moirail telling you to move on almost feels like a betrayal. How are you supposed to adjust to your life without the person who meant the most to you in it? The person who was always there both emotionally and physically? The person you made the active decision to stay alive for until you eventually wanted to live for yourself??
"I can't... I can't do it. I'm so alone without you here," you choke out and look away from her in despair and shame. "I'm not strong enough."
She gently places a finger under your chin and tilts your head to look back up at her, and she's smiling through her tears. However, you can tell it's forced.
"You're not alone. You have all your friends, like Cacoph, and Tuuya, and Proxus, and Uunive, and Tantor. You even have Maeron now. Maeron, the woman you hated the entire time you knew her and never forgave and were always nothing but rude to. She's helping you knowing she won't get anything out of it." Karima manages a small laugh talking about her. It's almost funny that it took her death for you two to finally start getting along. "You have so many people that care and want to help you."
"But they aren't you. I want you," you plead, and she sighs and leans down to lightly touch her forehead to yours.
"I know you do. But I'm gone. That's reality now, and you can't keep fighting it. Promise me you'll move on. You don't have to forget me. Just please promise me you'll learn to live without me," she asks, practically begging you. Now she finally starts crying, and you can feel your heart shatter. Within seconds, both of you are crying, you louder than her, and the two of you hold onto each other in somber solidarity.
You don't how how much time passes before you're able to form words. It feels like hours, but also like only a few minutes have passed.
"I promise... I promise I'll try to live without you," you manage to blubber. "But can we... Can we stay like this?"
Karima pulls you into her even closer and kisses the top of your head.
"Of course, Sunflower. Take as much time as you need."
------------------------------------------------------
Florah slowly opened his eyes and stretched in Karima's bed. Her scent was long gone from it, but it still brought him an immense amount of comfort to lie where she once lied. He could hear talking downstairs and, with a sigh, didn't give in to the urge to go back to sleep in hopes that the ghost of his moirail would visit him again. It was just a dream, but he still felt an obligation to follow through with his promise to her.
He had to learn how to live without her.
But he wasn't going to do so happily.
When he reached the living room at the bottom of the stairs, still in his sleepwear, he was greeted by the sight of Proxus and Cacoph halting their conversation and now looking directly at him. Without a word, Florah beelined for Proxus and clung to them tightly as he sobbed.
Proxus held Florah, rubbing his back for a while and letting him cry. They shushed him until the sobbing was more under control. "Tulip, you want to make some tea with me? We can talk or not, but it would do some good to have a warm beverage."
Still unable to coherently form words, Florah sniffled and wiped his tears away before nodding and following them into the kitchen as Cacoph went back to his palmhusk.

finally got the words to word and wrote some Kyreth/Halsin post-romance scene <3
AO3
--
The early rays of the dawning sun caught on the fresh morning dew that glittered in the light like so many gemstones strewn in the soft grass. The cold drops clung to her skin and hair, and a gust of breeze skated over the surface of the lake. Were it not for the hulking form half-draped over her, it would have made for a very cold start to the day. Instead, Kyreth soaked in the warmth of her lover as he dozed beside her with his legs tangled in her's, an arm looped around her waist and the other folded under his head. It was the most peaceful she'd seen him since their unexpected reunion in Last Light. Now the lines in his face weren't nearly so deep, the bags under his eyes not nearly so dark, and all the tension was gone from his body.
For perhaps the first time in a century, Halsin rested soundly with no Shadow Curse to trouble his sleeping mind.
A smile tugged at the corners of her lips as she silently studied his face, taking in every detail of his rest, for such a phenomenon was so rare that she'd dare not count on witnessing it again before the Absolute was dealt with. She gently traced the line of his cheekbone with the pad of her thumb, careful to avoid grazing his skin with her claws even as he shifted against her. His arm closed tighter around her waist and his legs pressed more firmly together to draw her into him. Her tail flicked in response, instinctively seeking out another to intertwine with. It settled for wrapping around his calf.
Deep in his chest, a chuckle rumbled from his lungs and a sleepy smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
"And here I feared that you might have been but a sweet dream," he murmured as hazel eyes drifted open, half-lidded with exhaustion even as adoration flooded his gaze. "That my imagination had gotten the better of me at last."
Her own smile broadened as she touched the tip of her nose to his, her lips hovering tantalisingly above his mouth.
"If that was a dream, then it was an incredibly good one," she murmured, her voice coloured by a warm laugh.
"The best I could have wished for," he replied, closing the gap between them with a hum that tingled against her lips. He kissed her languidly as his thick fingers traced the line of her hip, pads pressing intently into the hardened ridges of her flesh. Then his hips shifted and he manoeuvred himself over her, casually rolling her off of her side and onto her back as his knees came to rest either side of her hips, resuming a familiar position from the night before. One hand pressed into the grass beside her head while the other explored at its own pace, his touch reverent and adoring as it traversed the canvas of her body.
Her tail flexed around his leg as she gently threaded clawed fingers through his damp, dishevelled hair; the memory of the sounds he'd made as she'd grabbed fistfuls of it and tugged, coupled with the feeling of his lips on her's, his tongue playing against her teeth for permission, and his roaming hand caressing her scars and stretch marks caused a sudden warmth to pool in her gut. But as morning dawned slowly, she pushed the loose strands back behind his ears with tender care and withdrew instead. As much as she'd love to stay here and explore some of last night’s missed opportunities, it wouldn't be long before the city stirred in earnest and the others would expect to be getting underway.
As she gently pulled back, he made to follow with a wanton mewl before he caught himself. A blush dusted his cheeks as he gazed down at her almost coyly.
"If only the world would allow me another stolen moment with you, I would seize it gladly," he confessed. "Duty comes much too soon."
"There'll be more moments," she assured him. Then she smirked knowingly. "Whole days perhaps, just for you and I."
His eyes lit up at the suggestion.
"Then we had best get to work so that those days may get here sooner."
He pressed a final kiss to the corner of her mouth before they slowly detangled themselves from one another. Her tail slipped from his calf and she accepted his hand as they rose to their feet. Only then did the early morning chill finally make itself known. An involuntary shiver passed through her and Halsin chuckled.
"Perhaps a blanket wouldn't have gone amiss," he commented with a wry grin.
"Or a bed."
"If you can find one that will hold up, then by all means."
He just grinned as she gave him a playful shove before making her way down to the lake's edge with the intention of cleaning herself up. The previous night's exertions had been the perfect recipe for stickiness, sweat, and muscle ache, which would all need amending before they rejoined the others back at camp.
The water was icy cold and all at once her sleepy mind and dull senses were shocked awake, blazing with a sudden razor-sharp clarity. She shivered as it lapped around her hips but soon found herself engulfed in that familiar, loving warmth from behind as Halsin pressed himself against her back. His palms rested on her stomach and his nose buried into her hair. A smile tugged at her lips and she folded into him as the sun slowly crested over the horizon.
After a few minutes, the frozen cold dulled to a tolerable chill, and Halsin peeled himself away. So they set about washing away the sticky sensations and lingering sweat from themselves while their muscles twinged and protested with such excessive activity. But as they washed down, Kyreth caught a glimpse of her lover’s back and winced. Angry red scratches littered his flesh, dragged down from his shoulder blades to his hips where eager claws had scrabbled for purchase as pleasure had overridden sense. The skin remained unbroken, but guilt rose to the fore of her mind all the same. It was a silly thing to feel guilty about what was an accepted reality of enthusiastic sex, but it only felt right that she make some effort to amend the harm done.
Halsin startled as her palm pressed against his poor tortured back, her thumb running up the column of his spine as her fingers caressed the scratches beneath the soft downy hair that dusted his skin. He tossed a curious glance over his shoulder but seemed to put the pieces together quickly enough.
“You’re hardly the first to claw my back asunder, you know,” he said mirthfully.
“I should hope that I’m not the first to heal you either,” she replied smoothly as a pale blue light streaked with flecks of gold gathered in the veins of her forearms and gathered in her palms and the pads of her fingers. She placed her free hand on his hip and squeezed lightly, a clear instruction for him to stay still while she worked.
Then slowly, she began to work the magic into his flesh, beginning at his hips and working her way up, massaging the soft layer of fat to reach the tightly coiled muscle beneath. Under her careful ministrations, he was like putty in her hands and unable to keep himself from melting into the touch. His eyes slid closed and he smiled dreamily as she worked. Then her thumb pressed into the small of his back and he let out an small groan as his back arched. His head fell backwards and she angled her own just so that he fell back against her shoulder. From the mischievous grin on his face, it was completely intentional.
While she wasn’t much shorter than he was (even without her horns) it did impede her work somewhat to have her access cut off. Nonetheless, she took advantage of the momentary access to his neck and nipped at the soft flesh teasingly, which extricated a small pleased whine from him.
“Consider that repayment for last night,” she joked. “Now let me finish, or you’ll be the one explaining to Nem why we were so late getting back.”
“I imagine a bard as skilled as her can imagine exactly why we’re late,” he replied.
Judging from the playful glint in his eyes, he was more than content to remain as he was, even if the position wasn’t entirely comfortable for him. But two could play at that game. Kyreth’s fingertips trailed down his sides as she nuzzled at his neck, claws gently brushing over the joint between his leg and his hip before both hands dove down and grabbed fistfulls of his buttocks.
Halsin jumped with a shout of laughter, splashing in the water as he whirled around at her with an expression that was equal parts shock, admonishment and sheer delight. But Kyreth just laughed.
“You might be an Archdruid, love, but I am a mother first and paladin second. I know all sorts of tricks for dealing with cheekiness.”
He laughed at that. "I would hope that that particular trick is reserved for lovers and not your daughter."
"Oh I save much worse for her," she replied, smirking. "Like tickling."
She then gestured for him to turn around again, and though it seemed that he might push the boundaries of their time further just to see what else he might be able to tease out of the moment, he acquiesced and turned to offer her his back once more.
The scratches up his shoulder blades were easily the worst of the lot, the closest to actually breaking the surface of the skin and drawing blood at the points where they had ceaselessly criss-crossed over each other. And as she kneaded the flesh, she could feel the taut knots in the muscle from years-upon-years of endless burdens between the Shadow Curse and the Grove and the Absolute.
But beneath her touch, the tension eased and the muscle began to uncoil as the magic did its work. As her hands reached his shoulders, he sighed and let his head roll back as he continued to enjoy the unplanned moment of tender care. She suspected that he might well start purring if he could. Then he cast a glance back over his shoulder, that all-adoring gaze washing over her with a smile as sweet as honey, and for a moment, all was right with the world. There were no tadpoles infesting the minds of the innocent, no Elder Brain adorned with a Netherese Crown, and no servants of the Dead Three conspiring to unleash their masters’ tyranny upon the world. Just the two of them lingering in this moment of tranquillity.
With the last of the marks faded from view, she let the magic go. His back was no longer a canvas of angry red marks strewn over taut skin. And as the tension bled away, so had the hardness in his physique, and suddenly it felt like she was really seeing him for the first time all over again. The hard lines of his back had now softened and become less defined, as if a great weight had finally been set down. He was different now. Softer. At peace.
Kyreth slipped her hands under his arms to rest over his chest and nestled her nose in the crook of his neck. She breathed in his scent as his hands settled over her’s. Then he folded his feather-light grip over her fingers and lifted her knuckles to his lips, placing the most reverent of kisses upon them before doing the same to her palm.
"You truly are a wonder," he breathed as he turned to face her once more. "If only I could return the favour."
Kyreth opened her mouth to respond only for a soft sigh to escape her lips as he swooped down upon her neck, pressing his mouth against the deep purple bruise he had left the night before with his ministrations. She possessed just enough of her mind to resist from scratching down his back and undoing her own work, and instead enjoyed the sudden affection. It was then that she felt it. A suffusion of warmth bleeding into her skin and soaking through the bruise and the marks that had made it. She realised that there were no teeth in this kiss. Instead it was magic, soft and golden, and it was bliss. The warmth spread from the bruise on her neck down her spine, emanating through her whole body and folding itself deep into her core.
For a brief moment, they were joined beyond understanding, and it was enough that she forgot that they were needed elsewhere. Until a barking from the shore broke the spell and shocked both of them to their senses.
They both snapped their attention upwards to see a familiar pair at the shore; Scratch and the Owlbear Cub were there, the former barking commandingly and with his tail wagging in agitation. The Cub tried to copy, chirping and bounding along a stretch of the bank.
Halsin chuckled.
"We'll be along in just a moment," he called. "Tell them that we were just washing up."
Scratch cocked his head sceptically but barked in assent, then barked at the Cub and led it away in the direction of camp.
"Nem sent them," Halsin explained with a chuckle. "If we don't hurry up, they'll leave without us."
"Then we'd best get back, lest they be short a druid and paladin," she sighed. "Who else will Astarion hide behind, if not us?"
"Karlach would certainly suffice."
"Only if she stayed still long enough to serve as his meat shield."
They waded back to shore and quickly recovered their clothes which had been left strewn on the ground from the night before. They were damp and cold with dew, but at least they'd be in their armour soon enough. Once dressed, they headed back to camp.
The others were ready by the time they got back, all geared up and ready to head out into the city, and all of them had knowing looks on their faces. Nemeia was the only one who didn't look overly amused by it.
"What time do you call this then?"
Kyreth smiled sweetly at her daughter, but couldn't quite hide the mischievous glint in her eyes.
"I'd call it breakfast, but it seemed no one thought to wait for us," she teased. When Nemeia pouted, she took her daughter's face in her hands and pulled her close. "Careful Nem, if the wind changes your face will get stuck like that."
"Ugh, mother-!"
"What, I can't fuss over my darling daughter? My beautiful baby girl, my darling child, the apple of my eye?" She then pretended to peer at her cheek, very much aware of the snorts and giggles of the rest of the group as they watched. "Hm, looks like you've got something on your face."
"Mum," Nemeia protested, trying to wriggle away as Kyreth licked her thumb and made a show of trying to wipe away an imaginary patch of dirt. "Get off!"
"You know Kyreth, I'm sure I saw some on her nose as well," Astarion tossed out gleefully.
"Oh I think I see it now," she replied as Halsin chuckled behind her. "Thank you dear."
"Karlach, help me!" Nemeia yelped as she failed to escape her mother's fawning grip, and to her relief - and everyone else's entertainment - her lover did exactly that.
"Don't worry babe, I've got this!"
Karlach charged in and heroically swept Nemeia out of Kyreth's hands and into her arms before promptly sprinting away with her, cackling with victorious glee. Halsin laughed, his grin so broad that it threatened to split his face, and Kyreth grinned right along with him as she leaned into his side, watching the pair of young tieflings as Karlach kept running with no sign of stopping while Nemeia squealed in her arms. His hand found its way around her waist and squeezed her hip lightly.
“It seems we’ve managed to steal another moment from the world after all,” he said lowly, the laughter colouring his voice.
“It seems we have,” she agreed. And then with a sly grin she added, “and if we both get into our armour now, we can blame the late start on them."

I think that a really important part of wei wuxians growth post res has to be that he gets to be hurt and angry and upset on his own behalf. the only time that we ever really see him actually stand up for Himself, use all of his rage and his ferocity and his righteous anger to defend himself rather than someone or something else, is at nevernight when he's losing his fucking Mind and all of the abuse and the mistreatment and the pain has become too much, and he's finally just sick of it
and we Know that wei wuxian has anger, he just only lets it out when it can protect somebody that he loves, it's never for himself until he's become so full of rage that he's bursting and violent with it. I think that it's important that wei wuxian just be upset when somebody hurts him. I think it's vital that he accepts that he has been mistreated and that it's not right, and he's allowed to be upset that somebody did something bad to him. not for how it affected someone else, not for what it had to do with his relationship to another person, but because it hurt Him. I just want him to be Angry for himself. I think it's healthy that he finally be Angry for himself. I also think that this means that he has to be angry with jiang cheng

Alright, time for the pink feather story. Bare in mind, this story was told to me over the course of a week by an 11 year old kid my first year at this girls camp, so this isn't my story, it's only me retelling it.
So one day, there was this little kid who had a dream about pink feathers. He can't remember what else it was about, only that it was FILLED with pink feathers, so he thought that was a little odd. When he wakes up, he goes downstairs and he says to his mom, "So I just had a really weird dream about pink feathers, but I can't remember what else happened in the dream, wierd, huh?"
His mom's face immediately pales, and she has a horrified look on her face as she whispers, barely audibly, "Get out."
The boy is obviously confused, so he asks her to repeat what she said. This time, she screams, tears gathering in the corner of her eye, "Get out! Get out of the house!"
The boy is confused and upset, but he figures if he goes to school his mom would have calmed down, right? So he gets his lunch and he finds his dad outside, and decides to tell him about what happened, "Dad, mom just kicked me out because I had a dream about pink feathers, what's going on?"
The dad goes sheet white and his voice quivers as he says "Your mom was right, y-you need to leave."
The boy is, at this boy, heart broken. He's alone, confused, upset, and so, so scared. He doesn't know what's going on, so he does the only thing he can think of. He walks to his bus stop so he can go to school. He starts sobbing while he's waiting for the bus, and when the bus pulls up the bus driver immediately becomes worried.
"Hey, kid, you alright? Do you need any help?"
The boy just sobs harder, "I don't know! I had a dream about pink feathers and now I can't go home and I don't know what to do!"
The bus drivers becomes one full of fear, and he immediately starts pushing the boy out the bus, "Listen, kid, you need to leave. You can't be on the bus." Once the boy is off, the bus speeds away.
The boy collapses on the pavement as soon as the bus is out of sight, and he just sits there for a moment, gathering himself, before he starts trudging off to his school. Maybe there someone will have answers?
He gets to school, and is obviously late, so when he gets to class his teacher crosses their arms and says, "well, what took you so lon-" and then they stop themselves when they notice the state the boy is in. They uncross their arms before continuing, "hey, are you alright? Rough day?"
The boy nods with a huffy, trying hard to not start crying again, "yeah. I had a dream about pink feathers and now everyone seems to hate me! Can you help me?"
The teacher looks horrified, and then nearly starts sobbing as well. They take a moment to breath and then point a shaky finger out the door, "Get out. Go to principle's office immediately."
And the boy listens. He walks his way over the office, feeling more and more hopeless. No one has explained anything! They've just been sending him away, and won't tell him what's going on! It's frustrating. Maybe if he just knew, he could do something about whatever this is! But no one will tell him anything. Maybe the principle will? Maybe that's why his teacher sent him here! So someone could finally explain!
So the principle greets him and walks him over to her desk, where she laces her fingers together and looks him over, "so, do you know why you were asked here today?"
"No, I just had a dream about pink feathers and I was sent here. W-what is going on?" The boy replies, nervous at what her answer might be.
"What? I didn't get were serious when they said that you had the dream." She says the last part softly, mumbling to herself as she looks increasingly scared, and then remembers that I'm here, "I'm sorry, but I have to expell you. You are no longer allowed on this property."
The boy is stunned, to shocked to move, so the principle has him escorted out of the building and then shuts the door behind him. At this point, he isn't sure where else to go. He isn't welcome at school or at home, where else is there? He could move into the woods, he could go to his grandparents, he could go to library to- wait, what was that other one? His grandparents! They live nearby! They'll have the answers!
And so he starts the walk over, and on the way he finds a convenient store. And, well, he didn't really get to eat breakfast before he was kicked out of the house, so he decides to go in. He doesn't have much money on him, but it'll surely be enough for at least a donut. And so, he goes in and picks out a bag of mini donuts and then goes over the register to check out.
The worker there does a double at him, "woah, little buddy, what are you doing here? You should be in school!"
And the boy sniffles a little, and then replies "Yeah, I am supposed to, but I was expelled because I had a dream about pink feathers."
The workers looks like he's seen a ghost, and then starts scrabbling to hand over his donuts and a few drinks "y-you can take it all! Just-just get out! Please, I don't want any trouble!"
Ths boy takes the items, all without paying, and then leaves. The workers reaction only further worries the boy, and makes him more determined to find answers. He eats his donuts on the way to his grandparents house, and when he gets there he knocks on the door.
His grandmother opens the door, looking surprised to see him, "Oh! Dear, what are you doing here? You should be in school! Where are your parents?"
The boy shakes his head, a few tears slipping past his eyes, "I was kicked out because I had a dream about pink feathers. Can you please help me? I don't know what's going on or why it's so important, and I just want to know!"
His grandmother starts shaking a little, obviously a little conscious but also more worried about her grandson, "of course dear, your grandpa is just in the shed across the street, he'll be able to help you."
Finally! Finally, someone who'll give him answers! He thanks his grandmother, and then starts to cross the street, happy to finally be getting somewhere-
And then a truck hits him
The end! That's the pink Feather story!

i feel so bad for nikola tesla like imagine spending years beefing with a guy who has conned the public into believing he's some sort of supergenius when in reality it's his overworked employees developing all of his world-changing inventions and you end up dying broke and starving and alone and then 100 years later another guy cons the public into believing he's some sort of supergenius when in reality it's his overworked employees developing all of his world-changing inventions and he's doing it all IN YOUR NAME. he must be rolling in his grave like a fucking rotisserie chicken

I love the idea of the Wayne kids dropping extremely vague and disturbing comments during galas. Especially when in uncomfortable situations or if they're just bored. They pull out things from their nightlife too. Other times they just make shit up.
Socialite: Oh, dear, your cheeks look so sullen! Who sucked the life out of you?
Tim, dead serious: An old man with a goatee.
Socialite: Uh... what?
Dick: Once I broke my knee so badly that I swear I could see part of the bone sticking out.
Socialite: Good lord. How on earth did that happen?
Dick: Just clumsy gymnast things ^^
Socialite: The white streak is certainly a bold fashion choice.
Jason: I saw someone get decapitated once, so I could be doing worse in terms of what's on my head, yknow? At least I have one.
Socialite: What's your favourite colour, sweetie?
Damian: Red.
Socialite: Oh that's lovely!
Damian: Like the blood of my enemies.
Socialite: Oh.
Socialite: You must be new to these kind of events.
Duke: Uh, yeah, they're kind of scary. But I've had worse.
Socialite: Worse.
Duke: Well I've been left on top of a skyscraper before with no way down just to 'get over my fear of heights' so, yes.
Socialite: You don't talk very loud, do you? I can barely hear you.
Cass, with a straight face: If I spoke any louder every glass in the room would shatter.
Tim, behind her: I can vouch.

When my nephew was four, a friend of the family passed away. The man was in his 90s and died of natural causes, and we were going to the funeral. We sat my nephew down and explained who this was, and that he had passed away, and now we were going to a sort of quiet party to celebrate him, and that there he might see the gentleman in the casket, and he might be very still, because he had died, but that everything was alright.
My nephew contemplated this calmly for a few minutes, and then said, "I think he will be very flat."
What.
It turns out that at age four, my nephew's only real context for death was roadkill, which he frequently pointed out while we were driving. He therefore believed that the only way anyone died was getting run over by a car.
