worst thing about tlou is that it shows how fatherhood is often times a choice more than anything else. some fathers decide to abandon their child, not knowing or caring that they'll grow up to not trust anybody because they had to go through that disappointment when they were too young to be dealing with such stuff, or to involuntarily look for a father figure in somebody else. when i look at joel, there's nothing but respect in me because he's everything i would've wanted in a father back when i was a child.

every time i re-watch season three i'm like bella's character isn't THAT poorly developed surely she has a few episodes focused solely on her character alone and not her mind-numbing will-they-won't-they thing with the guy who invented having no boundaries. and every single time without fail i am proven wrong!!

I have to say I love fanfiction Bella so much, especially if she isn't shipped with Edward because for whatever reason if she's with Edward the writers never push her character beyond plain Jane and dull. I've read some really good fics where she in a poly with Alice and Jasper and somehow that dynamic in fanfiction fixes all the big issues I had with them in canon. Hell I've read some fun crossovers where she ends up with fucking Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate and joins the Hellsing Organization to eliminate the Voltori.

Bella canonically figured out that vampires exist in less than a semester and considering they had all been keeping that secret for decades at that point it was a rather impressive feat okay. She so so smart and brave and strong but it’s all lost to the fact that the second Edward enters the scene she folds like wet cardboard. She deserves to go apeshit tbh. Like she broke her hand on a werewolf’s face for touching her without her consent where is her freaking out on Edward for all the lines he crosses? Where is the woman that ran willingly into a trap to possibly save her mother when Edward is breaking her car to keep her home? Where is the character that was built up when her whole world centers on becoming a wife?

There is no reason why bella is calling him Charlie behind his back.

"I wasn't allowed", bullshit, Charlie would be hurt but he wouldn't force her to call him anything. This man barely saw his daughter because her mother took her away, and bella refused to visit him after a while and made him travel to spend 2 weeks in the summer with her somewhere else. Charlie is clearly happy to have her live with him and he awkwardly tries to make her comfortable.

No bella, you call him dad to his face because you know it makes you a mean girl if you don't. You knew it would hurt him and of course you can't imagine you're someone who would willingly and knowingly hurt someone else, even if you are, so you fake it to his face and disrespect him any other time.

This man did nothing to you. This man was sidelined by you and your mother, and now you think you're edgy to call him Charlie, but you're dumb selfish mother is your best friend.
